- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermind, set coach, creative strategist, and also
- 0:09happen to be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30We are out here this morning at Sunday so we are out later.
- 0:33Obviously I'm posting this later because we had to wait until the
- 0:37rain passed, but it's Pasta Sunday for the girls and they
- 0:40are very excited. You can hear them all in the
- 0:42background going crazy. I'm sitting amongst them while
- 0:45they have large trays of pasta out here and they particularly
- 0:49like it when I give them things that are shaped like worms.
- 0:52So they are having spaghetti today and it's with shredded
- 0:55zucchini and some hot pepper and some coconut oil.
- 0:58And it is crazy out here. They are flipping it, throwing
- 1:02it, running with it. I, I, I don't know what they
- 1:04think of it, but other than it's insane and fun.
- 1:08Now you may wonder, why is she talking to me about this?
- 1:11Because I've often told everybody on this podcast as
- 1:15well as everyone else that being with my chickens brings me a
- 1:18massive amount of joy. And doing something like this,
- 1:23giving them pasta, it brings me joy.
- 1:26Bringing them snacks every day brings me joy because they
- 1:29always come running and they always come see me and they are
- 1:31very excited. And I love my chickens so much.
- 1:37I, I mean, they are definitely pets.
- 1:39We do not eat the chickens. I got to just say that one more
- 1:43time. So everyone who always asks me,
- 1:45we do not eat these chickens. These chickens are my pets and
- 1:49they are here because they bring me such levels of joy.
- 1:52Now before I started this recording, I sat here for a good
- 1:568 minutes watching them chug down a lot of pasta because I by
- 2:00accident didn't realize that 2 lbs of pasta was going to expand
- 2:05the way it did. I normally do 1 LB but I was
- 2:07short on zucchini so I said oh let me just throw another pound
- 2:10in. There's a lot of pasta here, but
- 2:12again, I have 63 chickens so they're all trucking around
- 2:17having fun and they will have full bellies today when they go
- 2:19out to have fun roaming the farm.
- 2:22But the point of this is not to talk about pasta and chickens as
- 2:25much as it is to talk about the thing that brings me joy.
- 2:28So when I come out here and I spend time doing this and
- 2:31bringing them something and connecting with them in this
- 2:34way, it brings me massive happiness.
- 2:38It makes me feel really connected and caring for them
- 2:43now, as much as they're getting from it, I'm getting from it and
- 2:47tapping into whatever brings you joy.
- 2:50No matter how strange it might seem that I get joy from
- 2:53chickens, I do. And it's not just actually the
- 2:56chickens, it's really the whole gamut of understanding that my
- 3:00personality is all about growing things, raising things, flowers,
- 3:05it doesn't matter, vegetables. I just love doing that people.
- 3:08That's why I love coaching the way I love coaching and helping
- 3:11my clients and doing whatever it takes to help them get to where
- 3:15they want to go. But the fact is, the level of
- 3:18joy I tap into is important. I recognize that and I have to
- 3:24regularly figure out how I want to tap into that.
- 3:28So when you ask yourself, am I tapping into my joy?
- 3:33That's a big question, my friends.
- 3:36And the more you ask it, the more you'll be surprised that
- 3:39the answer is no. I'm not tapping into my joy
- 3:42regularly. I'm not tapping into these
- 3:44things. And that's where you've got to
- 3:46pull back and say, hold on, hold on.
- 3:48What's the reason I'm not doing that?
- 3:50Whether it's, you know, doing something like knitting,
- 3:55painting, you know, roller skating.
- 3:58You know, I have a client that loves to go ice skating.
- 4:01And for years, she used to ice skate all the time.
- 4:03When she was a kid, she was borderline going on the
- 4:05professional circuit and then she stopped and she's recently
- 4:09started to go back and she's a mom of two and she's like, no,
- 4:13I'm going to go back and start doing this again.
- 4:14And she's like, you know what? It is amazing.
- 4:17I get on that ice and I feel like a different person.
- 4:20And that's the point. That is the point.
- 4:23So exactly what are you doing to tap into that joy?
- 4:27Where is that joy and that you are ignoring or putting aside or
- 4:31not tapping into? Because I promise you it changes
- 4:35the way you function. It changes the way you think, it
- 4:38changes everything about you. And for me, I just get a ton of
- 4:42it from all kinds of creative things.
- 4:44But really farming, I don't know why.
- 4:46Apparently at some point in time I got very hooked on this and I
- 4:50just love everything about it, everything about it.
- 4:55So I'm going to encourage you to go out, figure out, am I tapping
- 4:59into it now? I get to do this every single
- 5:01day. So Can you imagine the benefits
- 5:04it brings to me that I don't even understand anymore because
- 5:08I do it regularly every day. Me pausing with them when I come
- 5:11out, taking that time to just connect with them is incredibly
- 5:16fulfilling to my soul. So I am better at what I do when
- 5:20I do this. So go find that because I
- 5:22promise you, you will be better at what you do out in the world
- 5:26and how you are as a person and who you are as a person when you
- 5:29do this part. I know I live it every day.
- 5:32All right my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I'll see
- 5:34you tomorrow. Bye I.
