- 0:00Speaker 1: Coming up on Relatables Baddies Book Club. Imagine you write
- 0:04Speaker 1: this series where it's just like the king eventually wins
- 0:07Speaker 1: and they couldn't do it.
- 0:08Speaker 2: That's what I want. I want fucking evil to prevail.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Yeah. What is wrong with you, bro?
- 0:15Speaker 2: Imagine if he's sick at the end of the day.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Selena changes sides.
- 0:19Speaker 1: And helps the king. She's like, if you can't beat him,
- 0:22Speaker 1: join him, you know?
- 0:23Speaker 2: Yeah, imagine like jaw-jopping type moment.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Welcome to Relatable's Baddies Book Club, where we will embark
- 0:30Speaker 1: on a journey reading some of the finest pieces of
- 0:32Speaker 1: literature you have ever laid eyes, or ears.
- 0:34Speaker 2: If that's your preferred way to consume a book, on.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Hair of Fire. The whole book, baby. Yeah.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Shit.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Fuck. It's been a minute since we've recorded a full book.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Club, eh? Yeah, yeah. It actually has been a while.
- 0:52Speaker 1: And also, have we ever just done a full book?
- 0:55Speaker 2: No, so it's going to be a little bit different.
- 0:57Speaker 2: And I actually want to touch on, Jake and I
- 0:59Speaker 2: obviously released an episode talking about the release of book
- 1:02Speaker 2: six and seven for ACOTAR.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05Speaker 2: And I think maybe it came across that like, And
- 1:08Speaker 2: I think we definitely felt that like maybe we were
- 1:10Speaker 2: stressing ourselves out of how to do it, make the
- 1:12Speaker 2: best content possible. And I saw a comment on YouTube actually.
- 1:15Speaker 2: So thank you for that, Baddies. We do read all
- 1:17Speaker 2: the comments. It said, reading is meant to be fun.
- 1:19Speaker 2: And I was like, you know what? Really hit home.
- 1:22Speaker 1: You know what?
- 1:22Speaker 2: So I told Jake that and then he voice messaged
- 1:25Speaker 2: me yesterday and said, you know what? We should just
- 1:27Speaker 2: have some fun on the episode and talk about it
- 1:29Speaker 2: with whichever way we want to.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:33Speaker 2: And enjoy talking about the book because it was a
- 1:34Speaker 2: great book to be fair.
- 1:36Speaker 1: This is my favorite book of the series so far.
- 1:38Speaker 2: And I think it's just going to get better from
- 1:40Speaker 2: here on out. Yeah.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Some people actually, so I think when I first finished it,
- 1:45Speaker 1: I said something on the Instagram group channel. You can
- 1:48Speaker 1: go join that if you aren't a part of it.
- 1:52Speaker 1: And I think I, so I finished it and I
- 1:53Speaker 1: was like, that was so sick. And people were saying,
- 1:56Speaker 1: some people said the air of fire is their favorite
- 1:58Speaker 1: book in the whole series.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:59Speaker 1: Yeah. It was just cool. I just thought it was cool.
- 2:04Speaker 2: No, it was cool. Correct me if I'm wrong.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I swear.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Was it you or the baddies that told me that
- 2:09Speaker 2: like Faye weren't in thrown a glass?
- 2:13Speaker 1: Hmm. It could have been me before we'd read it.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And that was like, I.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Thought it was a bad because I'm reading this shit.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I'm like, what? Like, yeah, that's just Faye.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Yeah, this is just straight up Faye.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Yeah, this is legit Faye. So I think we should
- 2:32Speaker 1: just talk about Just like where we're at and the
- 2:36Speaker 1: things that have happened. Like this book for Selina was... Well,
- 2:42Speaker 1: I call her Aelin now. It's more... Well, she's going
- 2:45Speaker 1: to be.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Is it going to get confusing where she's obviously Aelin
- 2:47Speaker 2: in this book, but then at the end of it,
- 2:48Speaker 2: she wants to go back and reclaim being Selina?
- 2:51Speaker 1: Well, she needs to go back and be Selina because
- 2:54Speaker 1: I think she needs to go and like under the
- 2:57Speaker 1: ruse that... Like, no one knows that she's Selina, but
- 3:03Speaker 1: they also do, but she doesn't know that or something. Yeah,
- 3:06Speaker 1: back every fold.
- 3:07Speaker 2: So, yeah, because Kale and Dorian now know.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Yeah. That's it. Yeah, and her cousin knows.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Yeah, and her cousin.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:18Speaker 2: But very cool. I don't know. I feel like, so
- 3:21Speaker 2: you're going to alien. I like Selina. I feel like
- 3:24Speaker 2: from the start it stuck with me.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I just really, really like Rowan.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, 100%. He was the best part of this book.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Rowan is the absolute, like, I'm going to go full-blown
- 3:36Speaker 1: Australian here. Rowan is the maddest cunt.
- 3:41Speaker 2: He's the epitome of what a good man should be, actually.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Oh, this guy's fucking, he's just got it all. And,
- 3:49Speaker 1: you know, it's so obvious that they're going to end
- 3:51Speaker 1: up together. Like, it's obvious. Yeah.
- 3:54Speaker 2: I think it's too obvious though. That's what I was,
- 3:56Speaker 2: I was like thinking like, hurry up and just, obviously
- 3:58Speaker 2: they don't, I've been told that they don't fuck in
- 4:00Speaker 2: this book, but maybe people do fuck, but just hurry
- 4:02Speaker 2: up and kiss.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Bro, I'm telling you, these two motherfuckers, like they've got
- 4:07Speaker 1: a blood oath between them now.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:09Speaker 1: And they like, I originally thought, you know, Rowan is
- 4:15Speaker 1: wanker when he first goes to get her.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:19Speaker 1: But, Something that I'm, I don't know if I'm a
- 4:21Speaker 1: fan of this. I think obviously, I think I am
- 4:24Speaker 1: a fan of it because it always makes the book better. But, um,
- 4:28Speaker 1: you know, like when you, cause you'll have like a,
- 4:31Speaker 1: a Selena or Alan POV, and then you'll have a
- 4:36Speaker 1: Rowan POV and then you get like a kale POV. Right.
- 4:39Speaker 1: And so there's a part of the book where, um,
- 4:44Speaker 1: Selena like loses her shit at Rowan because he thinks
- 4:48Speaker 1: he just thinks like she's a brat. Right.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:50Speaker 1: And because he doesn't know, he's just assuming. And he
- 4:53Speaker 1: just thinks that she's like a brat. And that, and
- 4:57Speaker 1: one time he goes like, I should, you know, I
- 5:00Speaker 1: should whip you for your insolence or whatever he says.
- 5:04Speaker 1: And she loses her mind and he still fucks her up.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Like he just kind of like boom, boom, pumps her. Anyway.
- 5:10Speaker 1: And so he's like, what the fuck? And then he
- 5:12Speaker 1: ends up on one of the times where she burns out.
- 5:17Speaker 1: He sees her back. And then he's like, well, and
- 5:20Speaker 1: then he has this inner monologue moment and going back
- 5:23Speaker 1: and feeling super guilty about saying I should whip you
- 5:26Speaker 1: like the fucking dog you are or whatever. And I
- 5:28Speaker 1: was like, it's so like, you feel, it's like she
- 5:32Speaker 1: portrays like human.
- 5:34Speaker 2: That's what this whole book was.
- 5:36Speaker 1: So, or just, just normal emotions that people have so well.
- 5:40Speaker 1: It's like, how are you supposed to know? Like you
- 5:43Speaker 1: were just saying this passing comment and you were purposely
- 5:46Speaker 1: trying to just like let her know that you think
- 5:51Speaker 1: that she is just like lazy. Right. But it's like, yes,
- 5:55Speaker 1: you haven't stopped and tried to find out her story,
- 5:59Speaker 1: but also like, and you feel guilty when you don't
- 6:03Speaker 1: really have to feel guilty and she doesn't blame you.
- 6:05Speaker 1: But at the same time you feel guilty. It's like, so,
- 6:07Speaker 1: so human.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yeah. It's like the head noise, you know, something happens
- 6:11Speaker 2: in life. Say someone close to you, I don't know,
- 6:13Speaker 2: loses something or someone around them. And you say something like,
- 6:17Speaker 2: and you mean nothing by it, and then you've got
- 6:19Speaker 2: the maddest head noise about like, oh, fuck, I shouldn't
- 6:22Speaker 2: have said it that way. Then you're overthinking it. And
- 6:24Speaker 2: then that person hasn't even clocked it, but you're like, oh, shit,
- 6:26Speaker 2: I hope they don't clock it. It's like you said,
- 6:29Speaker 2: I think I wrote my thoughts for the first 20
- 6:33Speaker 2: chapters because I forgot a lot of it. I listened
- 6:36Speaker 2: over like six weeks, so it's quite a long period
- 6:38Speaker 2: of time.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I read it in probably like two and a half,
- 6:41Speaker 1: three weeks.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Yeah, so everyone knows my memory is not the best,
- 6:45Speaker 2: but also I feel like The first like quarter, maybe
- 6:49Speaker 2: even half of the book is Selena almost like forgot
- 6:52Speaker 2: who she was because of her grieving Nahemia.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:56Speaker 2: And I feel like that's such a real human response
- 6:59Speaker 2: because you almost forget that she's the most notorious assassin
- 7:01Speaker 2: of all time because she's just juggling and battling, dealing
- 7:06Speaker 2: with that. And she forgets who she is and then
- 7:09Speaker 2: it's so real. She uses training to come back and
- 7:12Speaker 2: find out who she really is, which is so real
- 7:15Speaker 2: in real life, especially for fucking men and dealing with
- 7:17Speaker 2: their problems.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Yeah. And I was like, yeah, it is such a
- 7:20Speaker 2: real thing. It's almost like Nesta's journey as well. It's
- 7:23Speaker 2: a depictive of that.
- 7:24Speaker 1: It's like, she actually is kind of similar to Nesta.
- 7:29Speaker 2: How she, she, she's like a narcissist at the start.
- 7:33Speaker 2: And now she's like, then she grieved and now she's
- 7:35Speaker 2: a really nice person. Yeah.
- 7:37Speaker 1: She like will refuse to, to, you know, talk about
- 7:41Speaker 1: something and she keeps all these secrets and she's just
- 7:45Speaker 1: kind of like, honestly, at times, very jarring.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Yes, very jarring.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Like we, what do you mean?
- 7:51Speaker 2: Well, this was like, I feel like this was the least.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Jarring she's been, but... To be fair, no, I agree
- 7:55Speaker 1: with you. We hated Nesta for so much of her book. Yeah.
- 7:58Speaker 2: I feel like... Me especially. I'm like, I reckon I'm
- 8:03Speaker 2: exactly Sarah J Maas' like target audience. Like even how we,
- 8:07Speaker 2: and I love Tamlin so much. And then everyone's like,
- 8:09Speaker 2: just you fucking wait. Then we hate Nesta. Just you
- 8:11Speaker 2: fucking wait.
- 8:13Speaker 1: No, I'm, I'm the perfect way. Yeah. We're both the,
- 8:16Speaker 1: we're both like the perfect reader for like to be
- 8:22Speaker 1: reading it late.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:24Speaker 1: To not be in on the joke. And cause all
- 8:26Speaker 1: these people that read it when it like came out
- 8:28Speaker 1: were probably thinking, I got no one to talk to
- 8:29Speaker 1: you about this. I don't know if I can finish
- 8:30Speaker 1: this book because I hate Nesta so much. And then
- 8:33Speaker 1: she gets good and they're like, someone says it to
- 8:35Speaker 1: them and they go, just you wait, just you wait,
- 8:36Speaker 1: just you wait. And we were full going, like, even
- 8:39Speaker 1: if she comes.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Good, I still hate her.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I haven't felt like that about, about Selena.
- 8:45Speaker 2: No, neither. I actually, I saw a comment on Jake posted, um,
- 8:50Speaker 2: a little recap of the Akita episode on Instagram. And
- 8:53Speaker 2: someone gave the biggest fucking spoiler about Crescent City Gun.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Oh, I haven't read it.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. Neither have I. And then someone comments,
- 9:02Speaker 2: put spoiler at the top of your comment. And then
- 9:04Speaker 2: she's like, it's just savage. It's like, if you haven't
- 9:06Speaker 2: read it, it's been out for like six or seven years,
- 9:08Speaker 2: then I don't care.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Honestly, I actually kind of agree. I genuinely kind of
- 9:15Speaker 1: agree with that.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Six or seven? I was 19. It's been out. Yeah.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I actually fully agree. I would stand on business with
- 9:23Speaker 1: that person. I'd be like, it's being out. But I
- 9:26Speaker 1: also would say spoiler alert if you haven't read Crescent City.
- 9:29Speaker 1: And then I would, and that's all the person was
- 9:30Speaker 1: asking for.
- 9:30Speaker 2: It was a big, I know what, I'm not going
- 9:32Speaker 2: to tell you, but it was the biggest spoiler in
- 9:33Speaker 2: the world.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Wait, did she say it was just, did she say
- 9:36Speaker 1: what book it was from in Crescent City?
- 9:38Speaker 2: No, but what it is is huge.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Okay. Well, shit. Okay. I'm keen to read. Apparently Crescent
- 9:43Speaker 1: City book two is hectic. I, in Crescent City, I
- 9:47Speaker 1: can tell you, I don't know if you saw any
- 9:48Speaker 1: of the videos I've been just like kind of randomly
- 9:50Speaker 1: slapping out there. I, there is already one connection that's
- 9:54Speaker 1: not to do with like riffs and in, so Bryce
- 9:58Speaker 1: Quinlan is the main character of Critter. city and she
- 10:01Speaker 1: works in this really old library that this witch owns
- 10:06Speaker 1: right and uh it turns out that the library is
- 10:10Speaker 1: actually like this very long lost library and it's like
- 10:13Speaker 1: illegal to own all these books because the top tier
- 10:16Speaker 1: elite angels have like destroyed them all. Cause they're like,
- 10:18Speaker 1: fuck that history is just, you know, we don't want
- 10:20Speaker 1: anyone to uprise. And so they've got in this library,
- 10:24Speaker 1: they've got the walking dead, which is in throne of
- 10:26Speaker 1: glass and the book of breathings, which is Ramakatar.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Shit.
- 10:31Speaker 1: They've got those two books. She mentions those two books,
- 10:33Speaker 1: like in this sort of battle she's in and there's
- 10:37Speaker 1: someone in the library attacking her. And, She's like talking
- 10:41Speaker 1: about how she sees this book called like the book
- 10:43Speaker 1: of breathings. And I was like, what the fuck?
- 10:44Speaker 2: Hold up.
- 10:44Speaker 1: And then the one called the walking dead. And I
- 10:46Speaker 1: was like, no, stop. No way. Shit.
- 10:49Speaker 2: What was at the end of this book? The beast.
- 10:52Speaker 2: It wasn't a, not Briac. What was the thing at
- 10:54Speaker 2: the Briac? No, it sounded like Briac. What was it called? Um,
- 10:59Speaker 2: in this, in this book.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Oh, are you talking about the beast? It was like underwater. Yeah.
- 11:04Speaker 2: What was that called?
- 11:04Speaker 1: I actually can't remember.
- 11:07Speaker 2: It sounded like Briac, but it wasn't Briac.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, okay. No, I can't remember at all.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I can't remember either, but I clocked it and I
- 11:13Speaker 2: was like, oh, wait a second. I was like, is
- 11:14Speaker 2: that something similar to that? Like a long lost fucking
- 11:16Speaker 2: relative of Briaxis or something? I don't know.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it'd be sick. I have these, I've got a
- 11:21Speaker 1: couple inklings about demons that are in Crescent City that
- 11:33Speaker 1: maybe make an appearance in also.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Would you classify the White Walkers as that?
- 11:41Speaker 1: Oh, the skinwalkers.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:43Speaker 1: That could be the case, yeah. Honestly, it could be
- 11:46Speaker 1: the case. Because they, like, trap you and.
- 11:47Speaker 2: It feels like you're dreaming, yeah.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I'm just waiting to hear about a type of demon
- 11:51Speaker 1: in Crescent City that I've heard about in.
- 11:54Speaker 2: See, but, like, that plays exactly to my point in
- 11:57Speaker 2: a sense of, like, yes, it's cool, but then, like
- 12:00Speaker 2: Jake's saying, the Book of Breathings, if we hadn't read
- 12:02Speaker 2: Akatar or anything, that also isn't like a, oh my god,
- 12:06Speaker 2: this is the best thing ever. It's not like fucking
- 12:09Speaker 2: Rhysand comes in and kills someone.
- 12:11Speaker 1: It was a cool, it was cool to see it
- 12:14Speaker 1: and notice it, but it didn't add much. That's right.
- 12:17Speaker 2: The two new books, is it going to be exactly that?
- 12:20Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm hoping for something huge. I think because of
- 12:24Speaker 1: the hype and because of everyone saying like, you know,
- 12:27Speaker 1: someone commented and said, you know, if you guys have
- 12:30Speaker 1: thousands of women telling you to do the one thing
- 12:33Speaker 1: and telling you that there is crossover, that's like big,
- 12:36Speaker 1: then they're probably right. And I was thinking that's pretty valid. No, no, no.
- 12:40Speaker 2: I was thinking about it. Like when it comes out
- 12:42Speaker 2: and we read it, I will happily admit when I'm wrong.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:45Speaker 2: But also like, that's my informed. There's a heap of
- 12:48Speaker 2: people who agree with me, but there's more who don't.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Yeah. And I reckon there is people that agree.
- 12:52Speaker 2: And I'm just going to wait and see. And there's
- 12:56Speaker 2: even going to be the man, the fucking old school
- 12:59Speaker 2: man in me's got that I told you so moment.
- 13:01Speaker 2: But also I'm big enough to admit when I'm wrong. Yeah.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Crescent City, I'll say this. Crescent City book one is
- 13:07Speaker 1: a better book one than both thrown a glass on
- 13:09Speaker 1: our guitar.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Wait, Crescent City book one. You said it was long.
- 13:12Speaker 1: It's long, right? And admittedly, I struggled to get into it.
- 13:18Speaker 1: But then once they get through just, once you get
- 13:22Speaker 1: to 80% of the way through the book, pretty much
- 13:23Speaker 1: at 80%, is like, it just fucking goes down. And
- 13:28Speaker 1: it is so, so sick. And it's just things that like,
- 13:32Speaker 1: you don't think of. Oh.
- 13:35Speaker 2: And I know we've said it before, writing order, Throne
- 13:38Speaker 2: of Glass was written first, then Akatar, then Crescent City.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I think like, while she was writing Akatar, she
- 13:43Speaker 1: also started writing Crescent City. I think it's a bit across.
- 13:45Speaker 2: So her writing skill, because I did notice in the
- 13:48Speaker 2: first couple of books, you could tell that these ones were,
- 13:50Speaker 2: There wasn't a, I don't know much about writing. You
- 13:52Speaker 2: could tell she was younger. That's all I'm saying.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely. One thing I wanted to say, right, is,
- 13:59Speaker 1: so we got introduced to some new characters in Heir
- 14:01Speaker 1: of Fire. Yeah. We got introduced to, oh God, I've
- 14:07Speaker 1: read it like weeks and weeks ago now. It's like
- 14:10Speaker 1: probably nearly been a month since I finished it. So
- 14:11Speaker 1: it's kind of like, but we got introduced to a witch. Yes.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Named Cronin. Yep, yep. Oh no. No, she's a Cronin
- 14:20Speaker 1: witch and her name is.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Man in Blackbeak?
- 14:23Speaker 1: Yes. Yes. And so what the witches... So all the witches,
- 14:27Speaker 1: there's like maybe... I think there was like 3,000 of
- 14:29Speaker 1: them or some shit. Yeah. So they got recruited by
- 14:33Speaker 1: the king of Riftold.
- 14:34Speaker 2: This was cool.
- 14:36Speaker 1: And so he's been breeding these wyverns. And he is like,
- 14:43Speaker 1: I need you guys to be the riders of my wyverns.
- 14:48Speaker 1: fight for me in a war. And once that war
- 14:51Speaker 1: is over, I will grant you your lands back that
- 14:55Speaker 1: the Cronin witches cursed. Yep.
- 14:59Speaker 2: And it was like, wasn't there like 13 different groups
- 15:03Speaker 2: of witches and they hadn't been together in the same
- 15:04Speaker 2: room for like 1500 years or something?
- 15:06Speaker 1: So many different things with the witches going on there.
- 15:09Speaker 1: And I was like, Jesus Christ. All we, all that
- 15:11Speaker 1: really mattered with the witches was like that there was three,
- 15:14Speaker 1: there's three different like witch families. And then, there's three
- 15:19Speaker 1: so there's a head for each one and the black
- 15:21Speaker 1: beaks are just like beasts the iron teeth they're just
- 15:24Speaker 1: like fucking cool and the yellow legs are just they're
- 15:26Speaker 1: all they're all just witches bro they're just like eating
- 15:28Speaker 1: humans and fucking humans and shit i think it's so
- 15:30Speaker 1: funny that they like to go and just like have
- 15:32Speaker 1: sex with all the men yeah because the witches are
- 15:35Speaker 1: all women and they all like go have sex with
- 15:37Speaker 1: the men and then eat them it's crazy it's.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Like um what animal does that isn't it like pigs
- 15:42Speaker 2: do that or.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Something No, well, I know that praying mantises do it.
- 15:47Speaker 2: No, spiders do. Spiders do that. They have sex and
- 15:49Speaker 2: then eat the man.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I think. Yeah, yeah, I think spiders do it. And
- 15:51Speaker 1: then praying mantises do it as well. Oh, praying mantises,
- 15:54Speaker 1: that's cool.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Do you want to see.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Something like romantic as fuck?
- 16:00Speaker 2: I don't know how you can get romantic after eating men,
- 16:02Speaker 2: after having sex, but sure.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I think it's romantic to like... I think praying mantises
- 16:08Speaker 1: are romantic as hell because the guy, he goes, he
- 16:12Speaker 1: inseminates the woman... And then he's like, well, you need sustenance.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Eat me.
- 16:18Speaker 2: It's almost like the most beautiful gesture ever. Like my
- 16:21Speaker 2: work here is done.
- 16:22Speaker 1: You don't need me anymore.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:24Speaker 1: He's like, I'm good for nothing but just putting my
- 16:27Speaker 1: seed in you. Which is like, let's be real. Men
- 16:30Speaker 1: in real life, humans, we're pretty much good for nothing
- 16:32Speaker 1: apart from just like helping out with that aspect. And
- 16:35Speaker 1: then we don't do anything anyway.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Yeah, shit.
- 16:39Speaker 1: We somehow gained control of the world and we royally
- 16:42Speaker 1: fucked it.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Oh agreed that's great so maybe maybe that should be
- 16:46Speaker 2: our motto being more like praying mantises yeah true like
- 16:48Speaker 2: every time you think you you it's kind of implying
- 16:52Speaker 2: we should just be fucking but.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Maybe i was gonna say when you and you like
- 16:59Speaker 1: when when we're trying to have kids it's like we
- 17:04Speaker 1: what do we do do we just finish inside our
- 17:06Speaker 1: woman and then And then kill ourselves.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Oh, shit.
- 17:11Speaker 1: No, no, no. We should sacrifice ourselves in a different way.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it's almost like making, well, I guess it's the
- 17:19Speaker 2: equivalent of like, obviously, if we've gone so deep into this,
- 17:23Speaker 2: if a woman wants to work when she's pregnant, by
- 17:25Speaker 2: all means, but the sacrifice is like you step up
- 17:29Speaker 2: and make her life easier so she can just be
- 17:31Speaker 2: the mother to this child. Yeah, I don't know. Right, okay.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Something I noticed in Air Fire is, do you think
- 17:40Speaker 1: the Fae... So, Selena, for instance, like, she's not... She's
- 17:44Speaker 1: half Fae. And what she got was the power to
- 17:48Speaker 1: shift from Fae to human. And so, that's her shifting ability.
- 17:50Speaker 2: I'm fucking devo that we didn't guess Fire as her power.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Oh, we didn't?
- 17:57Speaker 2: No.
- 17:57Speaker 1: I thought we knew that.
- 17:58Speaker 2: But we should have... I don't think... Because I was
- 18:00Speaker 2: reading and I was like, fuck where it is. Didn't
- 18:02Speaker 2: we say, like, time or some shit?
- 18:03Speaker 1: No, no, no. We knew Fire because remember when she...
- 18:06Speaker 1: is in book two and she jumps into that portal
- 18:11Speaker 1: and there's no ban on magic in the portal she
- 18:14Speaker 1: jumped through. So she just like has uncontrollable bursts of flame. Yeah,
- 18:17Speaker 1: bursts of flame. Okay, I forgot about that. Yeah. So
- 18:19Speaker 1: I thought we knew that. Maybe we did. I forgot
- 18:22Speaker 1: about that. But I was thinking like, fuck, I should
- 18:23Speaker 1: have guessed that. But you didn't guess it because you
- 18:27Speaker 1: knew it. Yeah, I know.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Or maybe that was it too. But she.
- 18:32Speaker 1: But do you reckon the Fae in... the enthroned of glass, uh,
- 18:39Speaker 1: less powerful than the Fay in Akita.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Well, you have like those, the Demi Fay, which are
- 18:44Speaker 2: like half Fay. Is that what you're talking about too? Well, yeah.
- 18:47Speaker 1: So there's like Demi Fay and then the Fay.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Um, I don't know. I would say so because this is,
- 18:53Speaker 2: I I'm picturing way less powerful than like, obviously Reese
- 18:58Speaker 2: is the most powerful of all time, but everyone else
- 19:00Speaker 2: in magic doesn't seem to have such a big impact.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say like 70% of what it used
- 19:06Speaker 2: to be. Yeah. While I was listening.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I'm getting the vibe that like, so like Rowan, for instance, right?
- 19:12Speaker 1: I'm getting the vibe that he's a beast. But I
- 19:15Speaker 1: think that he would just be the equivalent to maybe
- 19:18Speaker 1: an Asriel or a Cassian. Yeah.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Which is beast.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Yeah. But it's no Rhys.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Yeah, mate. I was even thinking like, it's got the
- 19:26Speaker 2: power has to have dissipated somewhere. Like they can't be
- 19:28Speaker 2: the same as those guys.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Like they're the top three.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know how I feel about, you know,
- 19:35Speaker 1: does it make sense to you that, so there's this
- 19:38Speaker 1: Fae city, right? Or I think it's like a Fae country,
- 19:42Speaker 1: to be fair. And Queen Maeve only lets in the
- 19:46Speaker 1: full blood Faye. And then, you know, the whole thing
- 19:48Speaker 1: with Selena, it was that she needed to work and,
- 19:52Speaker 1: and prove that she could, she had to like impress
- 19:56Speaker 1: Rowan enough to then be brought into this full face city. Yeah.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Why does Maeve not, uh, Does she just want to
- 20:07Speaker 1: live in peace? Like she doesn't care that the king
- 20:10Speaker 1: is doing gnarly stuff just across the water.
- 20:14Speaker 2: I took it as Maeve was a B-I-T-C-H.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Yeah, huge one.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Huge bitch. And she didn't really like care for Selina
- 20:22Speaker 2: in any way, even though I feel like she should
- 20:24Speaker 2: have been helping her, like guide her through her journey
- 20:26Speaker 2: of everything.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:29Speaker 2: But I suppose that's how I took it as well.
- 20:31Speaker 2: It was more like, yeah, we're here doing our thing.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Why would I care about what's going on over there? Yeah.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I guess that makes sense but didn't it it.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Was weird they all didn't want to talk to Selena
- 20:44Speaker 2: at the start too because was it because they were
- 20:46Speaker 2: scared of what she could be or they didn't know
- 20:48Speaker 2: who she was.
- 20:51Speaker 1: I seem to remember reading something where so I think
- 20:56Speaker 1: originally they didn't talk to Selena because she was just
- 20:58Speaker 1: a huge bitch yeah and you know Emery's Emery's was
- 21:03Speaker 1: the old chef is that that was Emery's right He
- 21:07Speaker 1: actually knew Selene was the princess of Tarzan or technically
- 21:11Speaker 1: actually right now the heir to the throne, so the
- 21:13Speaker 1: queen of Tarzan from the beginning because he worked with
- 21:17Speaker 1: her mum.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember.
- 21:20Speaker 1: But the rest didn't know that, but he always knew that.
- 21:22Speaker 1: So he always had like so much patience and grace
- 21:25Speaker 1: for her. And he just was like, you know, I
- 21:28Speaker 1: think I seem to remember him saying something along the
- 21:30Speaker 1: lines of just, you know, I just was waiting for
- 21:33Speaker 1: you to be ready. True, true, true.
- 21:37Speaker 2: But I think that was also, Rowan was also probably
- 21:40Speaker 2: the biggest impactor of her coming back to who she was,
- 21:42Speaker 2: but also just being in that sort of environment where
- 21:45Speaker 2: she wasn't Selena, she wasn't Aileen, she was like kind
- 21:47Speaker 2: of no one in a sense, other than a couple
- 21:49Speaker 2: of people knew.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Yeah, she lost identity, eh?
- 21:51Speaker 2: Yeah, she lost it completely and brought it all the
- 21:54Speaker 2: way back down so she could come all.
- 21:56Speaker 1: The way up. Yeah. Did you think it was a
- 21:58Speaker 1: bit sus when Rowan just like brought her into his
- 22:01Speaker 1: room and goes, you're staying with me from now on?
- 22:04Speaker 2: I did think I was.
- 22:06Speaker 1: I just thought, just heat up her room.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it was weird.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Also, from early on, she had this weird.
- 22:17Speaker 2: She said he had weird vibes.
- 22:18Speaker 1: So I think that they're mated. I think they're going
- 22:20Speaker 1: to be mated, personally.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Fuck, surely not. I reckon they're going to be.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Mated because she's had this weird relationship, almost sort of
- 22:28Speaker 1: codependency relationship with him from the beginning.
- 22:30Speaker 2: He was almost controlling.
- 22:32Speaker 1: It was just a bit like... Yeah, so he was
- 22:36Speaker 1: very shut off and then she... Just, like, think about...
- 22:40Speaker 1: Do you think... Oh, yeah. What about when his mate
- 22:43Speaker 1: rocks up, right? And his mate lost that... He lost
- 22:47Speaker 1: a small battle or something like that and lost some soldiers.
- 22:50Speaker 1: So his leopard mate that shifts into a leopard, he
- 22:52Speaker 1: came and was getting a tattoo from Rowan. And then Selina,
- 22:56Speaker 1: for some reason, just, like, just has to go up
- 22:59Speaker 1: and feels as though she just... She just... She deserves or, like...
- 23:04Speaker 1: to know what's going on in there. So she goes
- 23:07Speaker 1: up and says like, I brought you some food. I
- 23:09Speaker 1: was like, Selena fucking keep your nose out of it.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Do you reckon it's it mated or almost like the
- 23:15Speaker 2: other way in a sense of like, there's a word
- 23:17Speaker 2: key on her or a spell or something where like
- 23:20Speaker 2: Rowan's always known she was alien and he needed her
- 23:22Speaker 2: for some reason for his own benefit. Nah, he's such
- 23:27Speaker 2: a nice guy. Do you reckon he's going to be
- 23:28Speaker 2: nice to hold? He's like perfect the whole way. Yeah.
- 23:31Speaker 1: You reckon? Yeah, I reckon he's going to go beast
- 23:34Speaker 1: mode and he's going to be everyone's favourite character. He's
- 23:35Speaker 1: going to be our favourite character. Shit. Okay. He's blunt.
- 23:39Speaker 1: He's blunt.
- 23:39Speaker 2: He is blunt.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:40Speaker 2: But I think he's going to be our favourite character.
- 23:42Speaker 2: I suppose that's why he knows who he is, which
- 23:44Speaker 2: is good.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Okay. Okay. So we've spoken about Selena Heaps, right? I
- 23:49Speaker 1: want to fucking talk about Kale. Okay. Yeah. I want
- 23:52Speaker 1: to talk about Kale, right?
- 23:53Speaker 2: Kale goes.
- 23:55Speaker 1: I feel like Kale goes through it in this book. So.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Well, he's almost like isolated. What is.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Bloody Slayna's cousin's name that we think works for the
- 24:11Speaker 1: king and he also has convinced the king he's working
- 24:13Speaker 1: for him?
- 24:14Speaker 2: The Edelon guy?
- 24:15Speaker 1: Yes.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Aiden.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Aiden.
- 24:18Speaker 2: I read it as Edelon. Oh, listen, it was Edelon.
- 24:21Speaker 2: And I was thinking of my brother Aiden.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Oh, fucking hell. I just was saying Aiden.
- 24:24Speaker 2: I was like, fuck that.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Yeah, fair. I thought he was going to be terrible
- 24:29Speaker 1: at the start of the book.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Mad dog. Yeah, I thought it was going to be
- 24:32Speaker 2: the fucking worst news for Dorian and Kael.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Maddest dog. I love that guy.
- 24:40Speaker 2: When Kael got caught, when he was spying on him,
- 24:44Speaker 2: and Kael was on his knees or whatever, I was like, oh,
- 24:47Speaker 2: this is fucking, he's done for here, eh? And then
- 24:50Speaker 2: they just bonded over past history and like, oh yeah,
- 24:53Speaker 2: we both want to infiltrate the king.
- 24:55Speaker 1: I was like, oh, hectic. And also, one thing that
- 24:58Speaker 1: annoyed me throughout the book with Kael and I can
- 25:00Speaker 1: kind of see where a lot of the baddies are
- 25:02Speaker 1: coming from and people in general are coming from with
- 25:03Speaker 1: him is like that. He's so, um, he just has this, uh,
- 25:10Speaker 1: I don't even know what the word is. Like he
- 25:12Speaker 1: believes that it's honor and he's throughout the whole book
- 25:15Speaker 1: pretty much until the end. He, he thinks like he
- 25:22Speaker 1: keeps going through this mental battle and he's like, I'm
- 25:24Speaker 1: helping Aiden and I'm helping the two other Lords from
- 25:28Speaker 1: Terrace and that Aiden has, you know, built like this
- 25:31Speaker 1: rebel group with and he's like i'm helping these two
- 25:35Speaker 1: i'm doing it because i love selena but also he's
- 25:38Speaker 1: like what am i gonna do when they you know
- 25:41Speaker 1: maybe succeed and they and they get selena back and
- 25:44Speaker 1: then they start an actual thing and she wants to
- 25:46Speaker 1: be queen and and he's like do i need to
- 25:48Speaker 1: fight them because these guys want to crumble the empire
- 25:51Speaker 1: that i'm a part of and i was like dude
- 25:54Speaker 1: you literally see what your empire does like you're allowed
- 25:58Speaker 1: to leave it yeah And he does in the end
- 26:02Speaker 1: because of what the king does. But like, I was like,
- 26:05Speaker 1: it was killing me. And I'm glad he eventually chooses to.
- 26:09Speaker 2: He has some weird obligation to Dorian, which is fair.
- 26:13Speaker 2: And this mental battle.
- 26:14Speaker 1: True. I think that's fair. He's very loyal to Dory.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Which is like, he's my best friend. And then it
- 26:19Speaker 2: took what the king did to make him see the shift.
- 26:21Speaker 2: But I think he was almost blinded by, because Dorian
- 26:25Speaker 2: almost made him who he was, I guess. Yeah. So
- 26:28Speaker 2: he felt like he owed him something. But no, I agree.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Kale definitely went through it. I really liked the healer
- 26:35Speaker 2: Dorian was getting with. Saoirse? How did you read it?
- 26:39Speaker 1: Saoirse? I was saying Saoirse.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Saoirse, yeah.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Okay, I just said Kale went through it. Wait. Dorian
- 26:45Speaker 1: went through it, bro.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Holy shit. Dorian pissed me.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Off for a lot of it, Bart. Okay, to be fair, same.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Dorian has always... pissed me off a bit, but he
- 26:59Speaker 1: won me over in this book. Yeah. And so I
- 27:04Speaker 1: do like Dorian now, but, um.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Then you go on some fucking tangent of how shit
- 27:09Speaker 2: of a bloke Dorian was.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Yeah. But I do like him now. I still think
- 27:15Speaker 1: that he's like a fucking, to be fair, he's like,
- 27:17Speaker 1: he's a Prince. Like he's been spoiled. I just think
- 27:19Speaker 1: that he's like a pretentious spoiled Prince, but he's getting,
- 27:22Speaker 1: he's getting over that. And he's definitely hates his dad now.
- 27:26Speaker 1: And he, yeah. Um, I was like actually getting quite
- 27:31Speaker 1: happy about how he was seeing this healer and, and
- 27:36Speaker 1: it's the healer that actually helped like him, Selena and
- 27:39Speaker 1: Kale when they killed that demon in the fucking dungeons.
- 27:44Speaker 1: And he's like, Oh my God, I can't believe. And
- 27:45Speaker 1: so then they, they start dating basically. He just keeps
- 27:48Speaker 1: on seeing her, starts dating. And he's like falling in
- 27:51Speaker 1: love with this woman. Right.
- 27:52Speaker 2: She was a great woman.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Yeah. She's falling in love with him. It just so
- 27:56Speaker 1: happens to turn out that she is the contact that
- 28:00Speaker 1: one of the rebels that Aiden has like got together.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I can't remember the two Lords, the grandfather and the son,
- 28:07Speaker 1: the grandson who basically the grandson has all these contacts
- 28:10Speaker 1: in the castle and she's the contact that feeds him information.
- 28:14Speaker 1: And so she was getting information out of Dorian. So he,
- 28:17Speaker 1: first of all, feels betrayed there. Right. And he finds
- 28:20Speaker 1: all this out while she's fucking, they all get shackled
- 28:22Speaker 1: and brought into the King's office. And like, I just
- 28:26Speaker 1: was so, I was like, so the king cuts her
- 28:31Speaker 1: head off. I know. I was fucking.
- 28:33Speaker 2: I was like. Devotee.
- 28:35Speaker 1: I genuinely.
- 28:36Speaker 2: I love that character of her. I felt like she
- 28:38Speaker 2: brought so much depth to everything.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Same, same. I thought she was sick as character. And
- 28:43Speaker 1: I also thought like, what an awesome love story for Dorian. Yeah.
- 28:46Speaker 2: I was like, he like kind of, I was a
- 28:48Speaker 2: little bit, he's like, he's fucking.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Moved on quick.
- 28:49Speaker 2: But I was like, oh, well, like good on him.
- 28:52Speaker 1: He was getting over Selina, right? Yeah. Because I thought
- 28:55Speaker 1: to myself, you know, he, although the way I think
- 28:58Speaker 1: he was a bit weird with the Selena thing, he
- 29:00Speaker 1: did lose her. He had her, then lost her. And then, like,
- 29:05Speaker 1: this guy can't keep a lover. He's never going to love. Sure, like,
- 29:09Speaker 1: who's Dorian going to end up with? I don't think
- 29:11Speaker 1: it's Selena.
- 29:12Speaker 2: I think he's going to have to grieve Saoirse for ages. Like,
- 29:16Speaker 2: surely he's not going to go to another girl. Yeah, like,
- 29:18Speaker 2: if in this next book. There's three in fucking four books.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Yeah, if in this next book he's in another woman,
- 29:23Speaker 1: I'm going to be thinking, this guy's crazy. Yeah. But, yeah,
- 29:28Speaker 1: when she gets her head cut off, I'm like, nah.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I know.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I was fucking devoured about that. But I guess, like,
- 29:35Speaker 2: stupid how much, like, Dorian and even Kayle fucking needed
- 29:38Speaker 2: such a massive thing to happen for them to shift
- 29:41Speaker 2: their mindset towards a king.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a tough one, isn't it?
- 29:45Speaker 2: It's like, how can you... Like, they should have been fucking...
- 29:48Speaker 2: They obviously were, like, inspiring against him for ages. But, like, fully...
- 29:51Speaker 2: They should have just, like, I don't know, before it,
- 29:53Speaker 2: just had a plan.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Oh, also, but like Dorian, he doesn't like Kayle anymore,
- 30:00Speaker 1: to be fair, because he never really knew why.
- 30:02Speaker 2: I reckon they'll come back together, bud.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Oh, they have to.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Solana will come back to Ardalan or whatever it is.
- 30:10Speaker 2: And then like, do you reckon she'll get contact with
- 30:13Speaker 2: Dorian or Kayle first?
- 30:15Speaker 1: Neither. You don't reckon?
- 30:17Speaker 2: I reckon she'll get with one. She has to keep
- 30:19Speaker 2: contact with one.
- 30:20Speaker 1: I don't think she'll contact either one of them. I
- 30:24Speaker 1: think that she's coming and she's... Oh, well, so... So
- 30:28Speaker 1: the plan is.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Wait, wait. Wait, let me.
- 30:29Speaker 1: I'm a little bit.
- 30:30Speaker 2: So she obviously can harness her fey power now, but
- 30:33Speaker 2: now she's coming back to Ardaland as a spell over,
- 30:35Speaker 2: or whatever, word keys around the whole place. So she's
- 30:38Speaker 2: back to being just Selene with her assassin skills.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Yeah, no human. Yeah, she can't turn into fey.
- 30:43Speaker 2: So she's done a fucking best... And she's bringing Rowan
- 30:45Speaker 2: with her?
- 30:46Speaker 1: No. No, she said you've got to stay back or
- 30:48Speaker 1: else you want... Unless you want to turn into a
- 30:50Speaker 1: hawk and be a hawk. Oh, yeah, and also Rowan
- 30:52Speaker 1: shifts into a hawk. That's his thing. You want to...
- 30:55Speaker 1: If you want to come, it's like you're going to
- 30:58Speaker 1: be stuck in hawk form for a while, bro. She's like,
- 31:01Speaker 1: stay here. And he's like, I'm not.
- 31:04Speaker 2: So I was thinking Selina would come and she would
- 31:07Speaker 2: watch for a while, but she'd go to Evadorian or
- 31:08Speaker 2: Kael for a certain reason. She'd need something. So you
- 31:11Speaker 2: don't reckon?
- 31:12Speaker 1: No, that could be the case. Here's the thing. Do
- 31:15Speaker 1: you remember if with what we left off is her
- 31:21Speaker 1: cousin in the dungeons currently? Yeah, I think so. Yeah.
- 31:26Speaker 1: I think what's going to happen... Did Kale go to
- 31:28Speaker 1: the dungeons?
- 31:29Speaker 2: Yeah, he did at the end. No, he did, didn't he?
- 31:31Speaker 2: I thought he did.
- 31:32Speaker 1: I seem to remember... I seem to remember... Dorian... Giving
- 31:40Speaker 1: a distraction for Kale to get away. I can't remember.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Sorry, not this bit.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Anywho, what's going to happen is she's going to go back.
- 31:50Speaker 1: And she will... You're right. She'll get in contact with
- 31:52Speaker 1: one of them. She'll have to. But the whole... what
- 31:55Speaker 1: she's planning on doing is she's, Oh God. Yeah. We're
- 31:59Speaker 1: living so much out. So we get a full history
- 32:01Speaker 1: of how our parents died. Yeah. Right. And also we
- 32:06Speaker 1: get a bit more history of word keys and we're,
- 32:09Speaker 1: we're pretty, pretty sure that the King has at least
- 32:12Speaker 1: two word keys. And what he's using those two word
- 32:15Speaker 1: keys for is he has got the black tower. That's
- 32:19Speaker 1: in the city that everyone is like, Oh, it gives
- 32:22Speaker 1: them headaches and shit. They've got one in the city.
- 32:24Speaker 1: They've got one. Then they've got two more just like
- 32:27Speaker 1: ages and ages away. And there's like this spell that
- 32:31Speaker 1: they figured out. Kale figured this out. He figured out
- 32:34Speaker 1: that there's this spell he's got going where he can
- 32:38Speaker 1: basically make it so within the triangle and with the
- 32:44Speaker 1: power of the word keys, he just makes magic fully mitigated.
- 32:49Speaker 1: I don't know if that's the right word or not.
- 32:51Speaker 1: And so Cale figured out how the king has done it, basically.
- 32:54Speaker 1: And then we get a whole history of how her
- 32:58Speaker 1: slain parents died. She gets a lead up. We even
- 33:01Speaker 1: just like get to see young her, young Aiden. And
- 33:04Speaker 1: then we figure out what happens when like she gets
- 33:08Speaker 1: tossed in that river and then she floats down. It
- 33:10Speaker 1: nearly dies, but doesn't. And then Arab and Hamill picks
- 33:14Speaker 1: her up. So Arab and Hamill, we need to keep
- 33:17Speaker 1: in mind is like, I.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Forgot about him for a bit.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Genius. Yeah. Right? Genius. And so Selina ends up deducting.
- 33:27Speaker 1: She's like figuring out why did Terrison have such a
- 33:32Speaker 1: good reign and why was Terrison the only place that
- 33:35Speaker 1: could rival Rifthold or Adolin or whatever. And so we
- 33:41Speaker 1: deduct that the reason being is because throughout generations there
- 33:46Speaker 1: was this amulet That was given to each ruler. And
- 33:50Speaker 1: it was a word key. And the word key. Gives
- 33:53Speaker 1: power to anyone. And it doesn't give bad power. Or
- 33:56Speaker 1: good power. It just gives power. So if you're a
- 33:57Speaker 1: bad person. You can do bad shit with it. And
- 33:59Speaker 1: if you're a good person. You do good shit with it.
- 34:02Speaker 1: And so. All of her lineage. Had this amulet. Right.
- 34:06Speaker 1: And then before. She. Her mum had it. Before her
- 34:09Speaker 1: mum died. And then. We also figure out. That like Selena.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Had these fire powers as a kid. And tried to like.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Had to try and hide them. And shit. Or else
- 34:15Speaker 1: Maeve would come get her. And so her mum. is
- 34:18Speaker 1: sending her off away because she needs her to not
- 34:21Speaker 1: be fucking shut up with fire for a bit and
- 34:24Speaker 1: gives her this amulet. The amulet keeps her safe because
- 34:27Speaker 1: it's a literal word key. She floats down the river,
- 34:29Speaker 1: Erebon Hamill finds her, and now she's like, Erebon obviously
- 34:33Speaker 1: has the third word key. It's in the fucking city
- 34:35Speaker 1: and the king doesn't know it and Erebon doesn't, or
- 34:37Speaker 1: Erebon knows it, sorry. Or he may not even know
- 34:40Speaker 1: what he has. Anyway, so what the next book is.
- 34:42Speaker 2: He's got to know, but he has to know.
- 34:44Speaker 1: He's a genius. What the next book is... is her
- 34:47Speaker 1: going into the city to get the next that word key.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Yeah. And how we read it, fuck, what was the
- 34:57Speaker 2: first book called again?
- 34:59Speaker 1: Throwing a Glass.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Throwing a Glass.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, idiot.
- 35:02Speaker 2: But how Erebon trapped Selene at the end, this is
- 35:07Speaker 2: going to be so intricate, the mind games that Erebon
- 35:10Speaker 2: can play on her. I think he's like five steps
- 35:11Speaker 2: ahead of Selene, even still. Even with all the growth
- 35:14Speaker 2: she's had.
- 35:14Speaker 1: He knows it's a word key. Yeah, I think so.
- 35:18Speaker 1: And I believe that the reason why he is actually
- 35:22Speaker 1: such a beast is because of the word key. You know,
- 35:26Speaker 1: he's the full king of assassins, bro. And that's like
- 35:28Speaker 1: why he has such influence and power over people.
- 35:31Speaker 2: True.
- 35:32Speaker 1: I think that he uses it for magic. And so
- 35:36Speaker 1: she needs to go and steal it, bro. And she's also, yeah.
- 35:39Speaker 2: How do you think he's using it though? Because obviously
- 35:41Speaker 2: it's not obvious.
- 35:43Speaker 1: No, and I think he's keeping it that way. Like
- 35:45Speaker 1: he's rich as fuck. He's the king of assassins. He
- 35:47Speaker 1: does what he wants. Like, you know.
- 35:49Speaker 2: And she was around him for so long that she couldn't,
- 35:51Speaker 2: I don't know. Her childhood's obviously just like.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Blurred, but it didn't pick up on any of it too. No,
- 35:57Speaker 1: he knew a bunch of shit, bro. I think he
- 35:58Speaker 1: knows that she can shift into Faye. I think, so
- 36:01Speaker 1: he was like the only one that knew her real
- 36:02Speaker 1: lineage and all that stuff. Yeah. Yeah. So it's, it's,
- 36:11Speaker 1: it's so, it's so weird what, what Aelin, I guess,
- 36:16Speaker 1: Galathineus has gone through. It's so weird to think like
- 36:20Speaker 1: of the history that she, we learned in the book,
- 36:23Speaker 1: Heir of Fire, and then also what she's gone through
- 36:25Speaker 1: in Heir of Fire and what she is now accepted.
- 36:27Speaker 1: And she's like, okay, I, I am queen and I'm
- 36:31Speaker 1: going to go and I'm going to rebuild Terrasin and
- 36:34Speaker 1: take down the king. That's, that's now her purpose. And
- 36:40Speaker 1: it's so weird to me to think back to her,
- 36:43Speaker 1: you know, just there was a time where she just
- 36:46Speaker 1: was willing to be an assassin for the rest of
- 36:47Speaker 1: her life and she wanted to go leave and just
- 36:49Speaker 1: be with Sam. Like that to me is just a
- 36:52Speaker 1: different series.
- 36:54Speaker 2: I think it does feel like that a bit. To
- 36:57Speaker 2: be fair, even with Akatar though, like the first book
- 36:59Speaker 2: of Feyre and like who she was turning into Feyre.
- 37:04Speaker 1: It's similar.
- 37:05Speaker 2: It is similar.
- 37:06Speaker 1: You're right. It is similar. Like I, it's just, she's
- 37:11Speaker 1: had things, She's definitely going to be mated with Rowan, bro.
- 37:14Speaker 1: I can just tell.
- 37:14Speaker 2: I'm thinking it's going to be a repeat of Sam.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Because... Oh. Like, Rowan's going to die.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Yeah, because... Nah, I couldn't. It's the lady that keeps...
- 37:25Speaker 2: Sam's died. Nehemia's died. Who's going to die next? She
- 37:29Speaker 2: doesn't give a fuck about Doran.
- 37:30Speaker 1: And Cal, really.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Rowan.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Nah, she can't go through more, bro.
- 37:34Speaker 2: He's going to die and come back to life. She'll
- 37:35Speaker 2: go through it and then he'll come back to life
- 37:36Speaker 2: with Sarah J Maas happy endings bullshit. I reckon that's
- 37:39Speaker 2: what it's going to be.
- 37:40Speaker 1: I reckon she kills Arobin and it kills her and
- 37:42Speaker 1: it really ruins her.
- 37:44Speaker 2: What kills her?
- 37:45Speaker 1: I reckon she kills Arobin and it just like breaks
- 37:48Speaker 1: her because although he's a terrible person, it breaks her
- 37:52Speaker 1: to kill him because he's like a father figure.
- 37:55Speaker 2: True, but he's also, remember he's a fucking pedo.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Bro, insane. He literally is.
- 38:00Speaker 2: In love with her romantically or as a father figure?
- 38:03Speaker 1: This guy was straight up grooming a nine-year-old.
- 38:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I want him to die. Hopefully he does. He's
- 38:09Speaker 2: going to be almost invisible, I think, when she comes in.
- 38:11Speaker 2: He's like, where is this guy? The assassins are everywhere
- 38:14Speaker 2: except for him.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Yeah, true. She hasn't seen him for over two years.
- 38:20Speaker 1: I reckon, also, I have a feeling, a prediction of mine,
- 38:25Speaker 1: is that Erebon had this plan all along. He knew
- 38:27Speaker 1: that he found the heir to Tarasin. He had figured
- 38:30Speaker 1: out that she had a word key around her neck.
- 38:32Speaker 1: He was going to groom her And it's going to
- 38:34Speaker 1: come out that his plan was to groom her until
- 38:37Speaker 1: she was of age. And then, and then marry her
- 38:41Speaker 1: and then bloodline. And then it's like, he, he, he
- 38:44Speaker 1: rules terrorism with her. I think he's that gross of
- 38:48Speaker 1: a guy.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Shit sleazy. And finding that out gives her. the power
- 38:54Speaker 2: or guts to actually kill him rather than he, he,
- 38:56Speaker 2: this sort of like a debate she's in at the moment.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Cause like, why else is he getting rid of Sam?
- 39:00Speaker 1: And then saying to the guy at the end of
- 39:02Speaker 1: that book where Sam dies, like, um, I don't like
- 39:05Speaker 1: to share what's mine type of thing. It's like, you
- 39:08Speaker 1: don't just do that because you just like that she
- 39:10Speaker 1: can kill and make you money.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Yeah. He wants more than that. And he, and he
- 39:14Speaker 2: does think that far ahead.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Yeah, bro, this guy.
- 39:17Speaker 2: If that's wrong, that should have been written in. That's
- 39:19Speaker 2: fucking brilliant.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Like, that makes you hate him even more. It'd be
- 39:22Speaker 1: a good way to hate him even more.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and the depth to that, too. From the start,
- 39:26Speaker 2: he's had intentions just because of what she washed up with,
- 39:29Speaker 2: the amulet on her.
- 39:32Speaker 1: And that amulet is what kept her alive in the
- 39:34Speaker 1: frozen river and shit. And then, yeah, look, I don't know.
- 39:38Speaker 1: It's fucking... Yeah, he was going to eventually convince her
- 39:40Speaker 1: to just take down the king. But yeah.
- 39:44Speaker 2: What was the amulet in the last book that she had?
- 39:48Speaker 1: That she gave to. That was from. From. Was it Elena?
- 39:53Speaker 1: Or Eleanor? The old fake queen.
- 39:54Speaker 2: What was the difference between. What was that one?
- 39:57Speaker 1: That one's just like. It was like in the shape
- 39:59Speaker 1: of an eye. And that one just kept her safe.
- 40:02Speaker 1: I think it just was a magical amulet. From. To
- 40:04Speaker 1: my knowledge. I don't think it's.
- 40:06Speaker 2: There's no. Correspondence to. The important ones.
- 40:11Speaker 1: I don't think so. Kale has it. Kale. Yeah.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Maybe that's why. Because I was thinking like. I mean
- 40:16Speaker 2: it's amulets.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Amulets. And like.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Why else would she. connect to them if it's not
- 40:19Speaker 2: to like i don't know but if kale's got the
- 40:22Speaker 2: amulet maybe she needs to get it back somehow.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Maybe yeah because.
- 40:27Speaker 2: It might have it might play a power and it
- 40:29Speaker 2: wasn't being utilized properly or something i don't know because
- 40:31Speaker 2: it seems that i'm hoping so because i thought the
- 40:33Speaker 2: amulet played a power it played such a big part.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Yeah maybe it might still you never know um i
- 40:40Speaker 1: also we've pretty much touched.
- 40:43Speaker 2: On everyone haven't yeah i've got anymore you you keep going.
- 40:47Speaker 2: I've got a few notes. See if I got anything else.
- 40:48Speaker 1: So the witches, so, so man and black beak. The
- 40:52Speaker 1: interesting thing about the story of the witches is that
- 40:54Speaker 1: the whole time, for some reason, I found myself rooting
- 40:58Speaker 1: for man and black beak and I'm starting to like
- 41:00Speaker 1: feel as though I have this relationship or just like this,
- 41:05Speaker 1: you know, I like her. I like this man and
- 41:07Speaker 1: black beak, which I don't like the rest of the witches.
- 41:09Speaker 1: They're all fucked, but I have a feeling that she's
- 41:13Speaker 1: gonna realize, you know, that this is all psycho, gross,
- 41:19Speaker 1: what we're doing. And I think that she'll change sides.
- 41:24Speaker 2: I don't mind that prediction, to be fair. Because she
- 41:27Speaker 2: had the bloodline and she's the best Wyvern rider of
- 41:30Speaker 2: all time or whatever.
- 41:32Speaker 1: She's a beast, bro. And she chooses this dingy little
- 41:34Speaker 1: Wyvern that she had to go get spider silk to fix.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Yeah, which shows her heart, I guess, too. No, I
- 41:40Speaker 2: like that prediction. There was a moment that happened with
- 41:44Speaker 2: the Wyverns, too, wasn't there? I can't remember. There was
- 41:48Speaker 2: something important that happened when they're all going to pick them.
- 41:50Speaker 2: And there was a big scary one or something.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Oh, well, so what happened was they were using these
- 41:56Speaker 1: like little bait wyverns to show all of the witches
- 42:01Speaker 1: what the big dog wyverns could do. And a big
- 42:05Speaker 1: dog wyvern came in and this little, and this like
- 42:07Speaker 1: very small compared to the big one, this bait wyvern,
- 42:10Speaker 1: it just like, Manon was looking at it and was like,
- 42:12Speaker 1: this thing's not backing down. This thing's got heart. This
- 42:14Speaker 1: thing's got drive. It knows what's happening. And then, one
- 42:18Speaker 1: of the witches pushes her into this big pit and
- 42:23Speaker 1: she runs over and she like eventually helps this little
- 42:25Speaker 1: bait wyvern. And then she's like, I choose this one.
- 42:27Speaker 1: I want this one. Yeah.
- 42:29Speaker 2: And which also too, with the spider silk wyverns, Rowan
- 42:33Speaker 2: being a fucking hawk, Selina has spider silk armor. I
- 42:41Speaker 2: think there's going to be some.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Type of connection. Does she still have that?
- 42:45Speaker 2: I think so. I'm pretty sure she does. I thought
- 42:48Speaker 2: she did. Cause I was like, why is there another
- 42:49Speaker 2: mention of spider silk here? There's got to be some
- 42:51Speaker 2: sort of connecting factor between like, cause Solana was, I
- 42:54Speaker 2: don't know. That's such a good heart. This Wyvern's got
- 42:55Speaker 2: such a good heart. This fucking man in black beat.
- 42:58Speaker 2: I was like, there's some corner. And then there's Wyvern's
- 43:00Speaker 2: obviously going to fly. And then Solana's like, Rowan, I
- 43:01Speaker 2: need you. Get me up there or some shit. And
- 43:03Speaker 2: then they go hand in hand. They have spider silk.
- 43:05Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Something. I can't connect the dots, but I feel like
- 43:07Speaker 2: there's something there.
- 43:08Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I agree. I had something else going on
- 43:11Speaker 1: in my head, but did you, did you see what
- 43:13Speaker 1: you wanted to find?
- 43:15Speaker 2: That was about it too, to be fair. I feel
- 43:16Speaker 2: like we've gone through it in quite a, a fun.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Chatting way. It's been a cool way to talk about it.
- 43:23Speaker 1: I'll be real with that. I'll be honest.
- 43:25Speaker 2: So then what's the next book?
- 43:27Speaker 1: Queen of Shadows.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Queen of Shadows. So Selina becomes the queen. It's got to.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Well, she's going to be, she's going to be the
- 43:36Speaker 1: queen of shadows, but she, I assume doesn't become the
- 43:40Speaker 1: queen until the last book.
- 43:42Speaker 2: I suppose that almost alludes to her, like doing so
- 43:45Speaker 2: much behind that no one can see. And then, she
- 43:48Speaker 2: almost infiltrates it um yeah which is cool i guess
- 43:52Speaker 2: too we're going to go back to our old format
- 43:55Speaker 2: so 20 chapters yeah fuck it baddies let's do 20
- 43:59Speaker 2: chapters because we are trying to get as far as
- 44:01Speaker 2: a way through we can do for throne of glass
- 44:04Speaker 2: to fuck i spat that out weird bit um to
- 44:07Speaker 2: um finish it before akatar yeah and so as i
- 44:11Speaker 2: was saying on patreon you get it five days early
- 44:13Speaker 2: we're going back to that and then on the main
- 44:14Speaker 2: episodes on spotify which you're listening to you'll get it
- 44:16Speaker 2: on friday.
- 44:18Speaker 1: Which is good. Exciting.
- 44:20Speaker 2: I'm keen just to get back into the routine and
- 44:22Speaker 2: flow of like 20 chapters, 20 chapters, 20 chapters, 10 chapters, whatever.
- 44:26Speaker 2: And dissecting the book, which is really, really fun.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Maybe for those episodes, I'll keep reading Crescent City
- 44:33Speaker 1: and maybe I'll just like kind of tell you little
- 44:34Speaker 1: things about Crescent City here and there as well. Yeah,
- 44:37Speaker 1: I think that's a good way to kind of.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Because I don't think I'm ever going to not read
- 44:40Speaker 2: it in the immediate future, not for book club anyway,
- 44:42Speaker 2: so I don't mind living through you.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Yeah. I've got to say, it's actually cool, and where
- 44:47Speaker 1: it's going, I think, is sick. Okay.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Don't get me wrong. I think it'll be a great book.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Once again, soft magic system.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Soft magic system.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Soft magic system. I'm a soft guy, but... Bro, these
- 44:58Speaker 1: motherfuckers can do what they want. Some of them can
- 45:02Speaker 1: just do what they want. I hope... I suppose.
- 45:06Speaker 2: We haven't really understood the magic system completely in Throne
- 45:09Speaker 2: of Glass, but I hope it doesn't turn into, like,
- 45:12Speaker 2: Solana can do whatever the fuck she wants and she
- 45:13Speaker 2: just takes everyone down and brings people back to life
- 45:16Speaker 2: and fucking blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I hope it's
- 45:18Speaker 2: like the depths. That's what I didn't like about Akatar. Like,
- 45:21Speaker 2: if you're going to die, die. I just don't want
- 45:23Speaker 2: Pharaoh or Rhys to come in and save everyone. I want, like,
- 45:26Speaker 2: this really, really, like, interesting story and the word key
- 45:31Speaker 2: saves it and she needs the amulet. Something like that,
- 45:34Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 45:35Speaker 1: I think death should be death.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree. I think so too. We know this
- 45:39Speaker 2: is happy endings, I guess, but still.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Not necessarily though. Like, bro, these books are fucking like
- 45:44Speaker 1: emotional roller coasters.
- 45:46Speaker 2: No, but there's always like... I can predict. Selander's going
- 45:49Speaker 2: to come out on top. Dorian and Kael will be fine.
- 45:51Speaker 2: And then, I don't know, they're the three main characters
- 45:55Speaker 2: and then the king will die.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Eventually, you're right, aren't you? Like, imagine that's not the
- 46:00Speaker 1: case though. Imagine you... You write this series where it's
- 46:04Speaker 1: just like the king eventually wins and they couldn't do it.
- 46:07Speaker 2: That's what I want. I want fucking evil.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Really? To prevail.
- 46:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:12Speaker 1: What is wrong with you, bro?
- 46:13Speaker 2: Imagine you'd be sick if at the end of the day,
- 46:16Speaker 2: Selena changes sides.
- 46:19Speaker 1: And helps the king. Yeah. She's like, if you can't
- 46:21Speaker 1: beat him, join him, you know?
- 46:23Speaker 2: Yeah, imagine like jaw-joffing type moment. Like you're just like,
- 46:26Speaker 2: it's not going to happen. I want a book, like
- 46:28Speaker 2: I want a series to have that in it. But
- 46:29Speaker 2: why does like, even in movies, why does it always,
- 46:32Speaker 2: like the positive person always, why can't the bad person win?
- 46:37Speaker 1: I got to say, yeah.
- 46:38Speaker 2: The bad people win in real life, all the time.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Yeah, true. Look at the world we live in. Yeah.
- 46:44Speaker 1: The series I read, also that one book I read,
- 46:49Speaker 1: what was it called? Dagger Mouth. Yeah. That ended in
- 46:52Speaker 1: a way where I thought like, that's honestly not a
- 46:55Speaker 1: happy ending. I was like, dude, that is honestly not
- 46:57Speaker 1: a happy ending.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Do you walk away from it like, oh, I was fucked?
- 47:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I, Dagger Mouth was a fucking, like, bit of
- 47:04Speaker 1: a heart wrencher. And, and, and there's no, they left
- 47:08Speaker 1: it with a bit of loose ends. And I just thought, fuck, like,
- 47:11Speaker 1: that was rough. And then I've read a couple, so
- 47:14Speaker 1: that Red Rising series, there's a couple books in there where, like,
- 47:19Speaker 1: One book ends. You know the movie Infinity War?
- 47:23Speaker 2: Yes.
- 47:24Speaker 1: How it ends with Thanos winning. Yeah. There's a book
- 47:27Speaker 1: or two in fucking Red Rising where it ends and
- 47:30Speaker 1: you just think, fuck.
- 47:32Speaker 2: See, there's an emotional reaction. I guess good or bad
- 47:37Speaker 2: makes it a good book. It's kind of like, I
- 47:40Speaker 2: know this isn't probably a good example. You know when
- 47:41Speaker 2: you watch those Netflix documentaries and you're like, that's fucked.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:46Speaker 2: And it's so engaging because it's fucked.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Um but yeah it is what it is so we
- 47:53Speaker 2: will see you on fucking monday.
- 47:55Speaker 1: Baby yeah shit.
- 47:57Speaker 2: If you're on patreon if not we'll see you next
- 47:59Speaker 2: week i bought i.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Bought queen of shadows by the way oh you're gonna
- 48:03Speaker 1: read it from the book version no no i bought
- 48:05Speaker 1: it on my kindle it's only eleven dollars oh what's
- 48:08Speaker 1: it i think it's like at the bookstore it'd probably
- 48:11Speaker 1: be like 25 oh shit we got a brand deal
- 48:13Speaker 1: of audible we've had two and i've just got like
- 48:17Speaker 1: Unlimited credits, it seems like. Well, I pay for Audible.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Where's my unlimited credits?
- 48:21Speaker 2: No, you're an idiot, eh? You need to read our emails.
- 48:24Speaker 2: There's an email there from Audible and it says, do
- 48:27Speaker 2: you guys want an Audible subscription? And I say, I
- 48:29Speaker 2: already have it. Jake needs it, but... And it's just
- 48:32Speaker 2: sitting there. And they go, send me his email. And
- 48:34Speaker 2: then I've just left it there for you.
- 48:36Speaker 1: So I can go get a free one?
- 48:37Speaker 2: Yeah, our brand deal's only just gone up. They should
- 48:40Speaker 2: still give you one.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Oh, hell yeah. I'm going to ask J-Rod, eh? I'm
- 48:43Speaker 1: going to ask Jared if he.
- 48:44Speaker 2: Can sort that out.
- 48:45Speaker 1: It's Chels. oh okay no yeah I'll do that I'm
- 48:48Speaker 1: gonna be like yeah I've been listening to books like
- 48:49Speaker 1: give me some fucking books.
- 48:50Speaker 2: Please she'd be like fuck Jake why didn't you let
- 48:53Speaker 2: me know what if they give me like free Kindle
- 48:55Speaker 2: Unlimited and stuff or Kindle and Audible aren't connected no.
- 48:59Speaker 1: Same company what they are bro I what so I've
- 49:03Speaker 1: been I started listening surely not you know have I
- 49:06Speaker 1: told you about the series Dungeon Crawler Carl yeah so
- 49:09Speaker 1: I put that series just on hold because I want
- 49:11Speaker 1: to finish all the Sarah J Maas books before Akatar
- 49:14Speaker 1: right yeah but Did I tell you how I have
- 49:17Speaker 1: it on? So I've got the book, on my kindle
- 49:20Speaker 1: and then i also bought the um audio version on
- 49:24Speaker 1: on audible and if i listen on audible and then
- 49:27Speaker 1: i turn my kindle on it goes to the page
- 49:29Speaker 1: i'm on in audible and if i read in my
- 49:31Speaker 1: kindle and then go to audible it'll just start where
- 49:34Speaker 1: i've left off reading on my kindle because amazon owns
- 49:37Speaker 1: both companies I just looked it up.
- 49:38Speaker 2: Amazon do own both of them.
- 49:40Speaker 1: It's hectic the way that it's integrated. It's so sick.
- 49:43Speaker 2: What you just said is such a good way to
- 49:45Speaker 2: promote them too.
- 49:46Speaker 1: It's so, so fucking sick.
- 49:47Speaker 2: I love Audible's shits on Spotify for listening to dramatized
- 49:52Speaker 2: audios or even just normally.
- 49:53Speaker 1: But?
- 49:54Speaker 2: The photo thing.
- 49:56Speaker 1: It's so good, the photo thing.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Oh, shit. I think I miss a lot of depth
- 50:01Speaker 2: with Air of Fire because I listen to it. Also
- 50:05Speaker 2: because I was doing random shit.
- 50:06Speaker 1: True, if you listen and you get distracted and then
- 50:08Speaker 1: maybe you miss something.
- 50:09Speaker 2: Yeah, whereas I think I'm going to try and sit
- 50:11Speaker 2: down and at least do most of it reading. Yeah,
- 50:14Speaker 2: if you do some of it reading, it's nice. It's
- 50:16Speaker 2: definitely nice. Get back into that routine. Get back into
- 50:20Speaker 2: that beast routine in preparation. I'm going to train for Akita.
- 50:28Speaker 1: Akatar's our Super Bowl. The new Akatar's coming out. I'm
- 50:34Speaker 1: more excited for that than any sporting event I've ever
- 50:36Speaker 1: gone to and been excited for.
- 50:39Speaker 2: Oh, no. Legit, you can't talk to anyone in real
- 50:41Speaker 2: life about it either. No, legitimately. Beth doesn't give a fuck, bro.
- 50:46Speaker 2: Kassakana does. She'll probably read them. She's read them.
- 50:49Speaker 1: She's the reason we started reading them.
- 50:51Speaker 2: Yeah, she's the reason we started reading ACOTAR, to be fair.
- 50:53Speaker 2: This whole book club from ACOTAR is props to Cassie.
- 50:56Speaker 2: She was reading it at the time and told me
- 50:58Speaker 2: it was good.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Props to like, well, so props to you for suggesting it, right?
- 51:03Speaker 1: But then I go even further and give props to Cassie.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Like Cassie, if you never met Cassie, right?
- 51:09Speaker 2: I wouldn't be.
- 51:10Speaker 1: Like obsessed with reading because you suggested reading Akita. And
- 51:13Speaker 1: I said, that's a good idea. And you wouldn't have
- 51:15Speaker 1: suggested that unless you met Cassie. So domino effect, Cassie
- 51:19Speaker 1: or like butterfly effect, whatever it's called. Cassie is technically
- 51:22Speaker 1: the reason that I'm obsessed.
- 51:23Speaker 2: I remember I fucking always, I love Bali, but I
- 51:25Speaker 2: was in Bali airport. Cassie had been reading Akita the
- 51:28Speaker 2: whole trip, like before bed. So it was just in
- 51:30Speaker 2: my brain. I've seen all the covers and she was
- 51:32Speaker 2: telling me it was good. And then I walked past
- 51:34Speaker 2: the bookstore in the airport and then, I voice messaged
- 51:38Speaker 2: Jake in whatever phase we were in with content, trying
- 51:41Speaker 2: to plan episodes. I think it was when Stimulator wasn't working.
- 51:43Speaker 2: I was like, you know what, man? Should we just
- 51:46Speaker 2: do a book club?
- 51:47Speaker 1: I tell you what's good.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Cassie's been raving about this Akatar book. We should probably
- 51:50Speaker 2: just do that.
- 51:50Speaker 1: And then.
- 51:52Speaker 2: It just stuck. Oh, shit, bro.
- 51:55Speaker 1: I'm not going to lie to you. I mean, I
- 51:58Speaker 1: know we need to end this episode, but I just...
- 52:01Speaker 1: I liked... Because I know we didn't finish in book
- 52:05Speaker 1: club the... what's it called? Fourth wing series. Yeah. But I,
- 52:09Speaker 1: and I ended up finishing it and I did think
- 52:11Speaker 1: it got quite good and I'm super keen. I'm annoyed
- 52:13Speaker 1: that she brought out a novella. I don't give a
- 52:15Speaker 1: fuck about novellas. All right. Don't bring out a novella.
- 52:18Speaker 1: Like I don't want to read something that's happening in
- 52:20Speaker 1: the past. It's called threshing day and it's about Zayden
- 52:22Speaker 1: threshing day. I don't give a fuck. True. Like just
- 52:25Speaker 1: bring out the next book, bro.
- 52:27Speaker 2: So no novellas and money grabs.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Oh, I agree with you. They're money grabs and they
- 52:32Speaker 1: like basically are just to get people excited because it's like,
- 52:34Speaker 1: oh shit, I've got writer's block. Like just write.
- 52:37Speaker 2: It's not even, no, I think it's, so she probably
- 52:39Speaker 2: has a, I don't know who the publisher would be.
- 52:41Speaker 2: She's got a contract that says you need to put
- 52:42Speaker 2: out a book every three years. And she's like, oh fuck,
- 52:44Speaker 2: I can't do that. Let's just put a novella out there.
- 52:46Speaker 1: I reckon she wrote Threshing Day in a day.
- 52:48Speaker 2: Yeah. I reckon they're a hundred percent. Same with a
- 52:50Speaker 2: Court of Frost and Starlight. Yeah. People say that.
- 52:54Speaker 1: Bro, people say that a quarter frost and starlight, people
- 52:56Speaker 1: were commenting when we said we hated it. They were going, no, no, no,
- 52:59Speaker 1: you need, need, need that before like, you know, a
- 53:02Speaker 1: quarter silver flames. And I was like, did we?
- 53:06Speaker 2: That one was boring. And that's one to get, it's like,
- 53:09Speaker 2: you've got to think at the end of the day,
- 53:11Speaker 2: like Sarah J Maas has a life. She's probably like
- 53:13Speaker 2: doing something. She's like, like the amount of depth that
- 53:15Speaker 2: goes into a story like this and she has obligations
- 53:17Speaker 2: or she needs money. She's just going to be like, dude.
- 53:21Speaker 1: This motherfucker doesn't need money. On the podcast with Alex Cooper,
- 53:26Speaker 1: they're talking about, like, flying or something. And then she goes, yeah,
- 53:29Speaker 1: it's crazy how, like, I just have my dogs right there.
- 53:31Speaker 1: And Alex Cooper's like, what? And she's like, yeah, private.
- 53:35Speaker 2: She just flies private.
- 53:36Speaker 1: Places, bro.
- 53:38Speaker 2: That's what you know. Oh, yeah, I'd love to know.
- 53:40Speaker 2: We should look into how much she's made from all
- 53:42Speaker 2: the series. Well, she's got to be one of, like,
- 53:44Speaker 2: it's got to be that. No, I think it's bigger
- 53:46Speaker 2: than Fourth Wing.
- 53:47Speaker 1: One of the most... Gotta be.
- 53:49Speaker 2: The biggest series of all time.
- 53:52Speaker 1: The only reason I think Fourth Wing can be a
- 53:53Speaker 1: TV adaptation better than ACOTAR and Throne of Glass and
- 53:56Speaker 1: Crescent City is because it's like fantasy and there's magic,
- 54:00Speaker 1: but it's not... It's a bit more of a strict
- 54:02Speaker 1: magic system. Is.
- 54:05Speaker 2: Michael B. Jordan got it, didn't he? The director?
- 54:07Speaker 1: Yeah, he's like... Yeah, I don't know how.
- 54:09Speaker 2: It better not be like fucking Creed. I didn't... Because
- 54:12Speaker 2: I love Rocky and then Creed was shit.
- 54:14Speaker 1: Did Michael B.
- 54:14Speaker 2: Jordan just act in that or actually like.
- 54:16Speaker 1: think he just acted in it but so his production
- 54:19Speaker 1: company's got a hold of it but i've seen things
- 54:21Speaker 1: come out that the there's companies behind i think they've
- 54:25Speaker 1: also hired the the the people that made interstellar oh
- 54:31Speaker 1: and another really good movie.
- 54:33Speaker 2: The depth of interstellar is almost perfect for these type
- 54:36Speaker 2: of books eh so.
- 54:37Speaker 1: Bro We're in for it.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Ian Hathaway, man. Is she going to be in it?
- 54:43Speaker 1: Oh, I really hope. Imagine if she's in it. I
- 54:46Speaker 1: really hope that the sex scenes are like full-blown Game
- 54:51Speaker 1: of Thrones in the fourth ring. Yeah, sure.
- 54:54Speaker 2: Zayden. Well, who do we think? Who could be the
- 54:56Speaker 2: only person that could be? We should probably end this,
- 54:58Speaker 2: but did we land on someone for Zayden?
- 55:01Speaker 1: An actor? Me, bro. Me. No, no, no. Um... Yeah,
- 55:08Speaker 1: I don't know who got it. I don't know who
- 55:09Speaker 1: got it.
- 55:10Speaker 2: Oh, has it been assigned?
- 55:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. There's like a full thing out there
- 55:14Speaker 1: where all the actors that got the roles, they made
- 55:19Speaker 1: their Instagram profile pictures black and white so you can
- 55:21Speaker 1: go see it. I don't really remember who got shit, but.
- 55:24Speaker 2: If it was someone cool, we would have said something. Yeah,
- 55:26Speaker 2: we probably would have been like, what's the witch's name?
- 55:28Speaker 2: So it wasn't him.
- 55:30Speaker 1: What's the witch's name? I don't even... There's a witch?
- 55:32Speaker 2: No, the witch of the Netflix series.
- 55:35Speaker 1: Oh, you're talking about Henry Cavill.
- 55:36Speaker 2: Yeah, Henry Cavill didn't get it.
- 55:38Speaker 1: Obviously not, bro. He's like 50.
- 55:40Speaker 2: Still bi. He can look 30.
- 55:41Speaker 1: Nah, that guy doesn't look anything like what Zayden should be.
- 55:46Speaker 1: If anything, he could be like some sort of sexy
- 55:48Speaker 1: professor if there is one. True.
- 55:49Speaker 2: Is he 50 now?
- 55:50Speaker 1: I didn't know that. That guy's definitely nearing. He's nearing 50, eh?
- 55:53Speaker 2: He's got to be.
- 55:56Speaker 1: Fair. All right, baddies. We'll leave it at that. We
- 55:58Speaker 1: love you.
- 55:59Speaker 2: Stay bad.
