Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Did you say you had a list? Bill?
- 0:02Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, from the Hollywood Reporter.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Sorry about that, there we go, go ahead.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Yes, from the Hollywood Reporter. They've compiled their list of
- 0:12the biggest winners and losers in Hollywood for the past year,
- 0:16for the year. Okay, it's radio from Hell with another
- 0:20list because people love a good list. Ninety six so winners,
- 0:27Zendia and other former child stars. You know, Zendia was.
- 0:35I think all of these people got their start on Disney,
- 0:38Nickelodeon and all of that. Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Zendiaz boy.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Selena Gomez had a huge year. She's a billionaire. She
- 0:48is now a billionaire.
- 0:50Speaker 2: And it says here the Lindsay Lohan comeback is looking
- 0:53real with she's starring in a Netflix Christmas comedy and she's.
- 0:58Speaker 1: A great plastic surgery.
- 1:00Speaker 2: A Freaky Friday sequel. She also started with Disney, I believe, didn't.
- 1:03Speaker 1: She well, yeah she didn't. The parent trap was at Disney.
- 1:07She wasn't on a TV show.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Losers Kevin Costner and Francis Ford Coppola, which had made
- 1:17it a big expensive flops and both of those It kind
- 1:22of made me sad to see that happen. I was
- 1:25hoping for Kevin Costner's to be good, and apparently it
- 1:29was not good. It just was kind of waring. Let's
- 1:33see so also a runner up, says the con Film
- 1:39Festival as being a loser.
- 1:41Speaker 3: It.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Increasingly it looks like the best way for filmmakers to
- 1:44get a roaring, ten minute standing ovation, only to see
- 1:46their movie ripped to treads online. Hey, filmmakers, the reviews
- 1:53are coming from inside the house. Honorable mention Clint Eastwood.
- 1:59He's ninety four years old. He made what's probably his
- 2:02last movie ever, Durer number two, and critics and audiences
- 2:07agree that it's really good hearing and it's just been buried.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Yeah. They put it in like fifty theaters.
- 2:16Speaker 2: It ranks as his highest rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes
- 2:19in three decades. Warner Brothers wouldn't even give his movie
- 2:22a couple of one hundred theaters and some TV ads.
- 2:25Speaker 1: You know, not there's your ants are Warner Brothers. That's
- 2:28all you need to know.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Why why do you say that?
- 2:30Speaker 3: Oh it's David Zaslov there, the guy in charge there
- 2:34is just he doesn't know what he's doing. Yeah, or
- 2:36he claims to know what he's doing, and he's smarter
- 2:38than the rest of us. But it's so far that
- 2:40he's not doing well.
- 2:42Speaker 2: The Hollywood Reporter says, are they going to have security
- 2:44kick Clint Eastwood off the studio a lot with a
- 2:46cardboard box in his hands? The studio claims they secretly
- 2:50always meant the film to be for Max, as if
- 2:53that makes it somehow better. It adds to Warner Brothers
- 2:56reputation that they picks out certain creatives to beat with
- 3:00tire irons, unless they're JK. Rowling of course, of course, yeah, yea,
- 3:07So those are the what Hollywood Reporter the biggest winners
- 3:10and losers of the year. I think there's more in
- 3:13the story got kind of truncated because there's a picture
- 3:16of Joaquin Phoenix here, but there's nothing no copy about it.
- 3:20Speaker 1: No copy.
- 3:20Speaker 3: But because that movie lost so much. Yeah again, Warner
- 3:24brother strikes.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Oh Joe Rogan a winner? Ye as a podcaster here
- 3:32I found the complete story. Uh the uh. I see
- 3:36what it says about Winter music. Musical movies they say
- 3:40are winners, and that's because of Wicked. Yeah, the Penguin,
- 3:45that's a winner. Everybody involved with the Penguin Winner, It
- 3:48says everybody involved with the Joker, Losers, Chapel Roan and
- 3:57Pop Girls of Summer really big winners. Loser Katie Perry.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Yeah, her new album just didn't work.
- 4:07Speaker 2: And her tour was not well thought of. And I'm
- 4:10looking looking, I'm looking at a picture from from her tour.
- 4:16I don't think I would go to it just based
- 4:17on this picture. It's just I don't know how to
- 4:20describe it. I guess it's sort of a nod to
- 4:22Alice in Wonderland or something. There's a big mushroom there,
- 4:26and she's wearing a hat that looks like a mushroom.
- 4:29And it's just silly. Aliens, big winner Aliens, says box
- 4:35Office Alien Romulus. Why haven't I seen that?
- 4:40Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Damn it.
- 4:42Speaker 1: It's on your Disney Plus or your Hulu. You got
- 4:45a whole weekend. Yeah, get caught.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Up, and my wife's going to be out of town,
- 4:49so I can just do whatever whatever I want. Let's
- 4:53see the Oh and they they're aliens in general too.
- 4:59They to the quiet Place. They say, day one it
- 5:02was pretty good.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I liked that movie a lot. It was actually pretty good. Yeah,
- 5:08I thought it was a were not good.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Understand it was and she's good all the time. Back
- 5:15to Alien Romulus Bill watch it with the subtitles. Yeah,
- 5:19very strong English accents and so it's hard to understand sometimes.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Kevin, I watched that this weekend and Civil War.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Civil War was good.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Civil War hit a little too close to It's really good,
- 5:31but it hit a little too close to.
- 5:35Speaker 2: FX was a big winner for because they had Showgun,
- 5:39Love the Bear, The Bear, and uh Fargo.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Last Fargo season was great too. Yeah, all three of
- 5:48those shows are good.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Loser Apple TV and Apple Studios because of I don't know.
- 5:56There's a picture of John of George Clooney there.
- 5:59Speaker 3: What is that That movie apparently they spend a lot
- 6:01of money on because it's Clooney and.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Pitt wolfs oh Wolves.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Yeah, and there was supposed to even be a sequel,
- 6:10but hardly anybody watched it.
- 6:12Speaker 1: And I think it's because when you got.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Your Apple and a bunch of these other streaming services,
- 6:18they don't promote Netflix is bad at this.
- 6:21Speaker 1: They just assume you're going to find it.
- 6:23Speaker 3: They just assume you're going to find the show, and no,
- 6:25I keep forgetting that I have Apple, a and b
- 6:29what shows are on there?
- 6:31Speaker 2: You know, Hollywood reporters sort of making that point too.
- 6:33Here Carrie, they say, on the TV side, did you
- 6:37ever hear the Big Door Prize, Kindred Spirits, Mega Dune,
- 6:41Time Bandits.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I watched Time Bandits.
- 6:43Speaker 2: It's uh, you know they but they didn't promote it. No,
- 6:47they didn't promote any of that stuff. Yeah I didn't.
- 6:49I didn't know Smiga Dune was back.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. That that's a good example.
- 6:54Speaker 3: No, they just they don't promote things, which means you
- 6:57have to buy advertising somehow, and they don't want to
- 7:00do that.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Might I suggest radio.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Radio? It's fundamental you advertising.
- 7:08Speaker 3: I can't remember who it was, but there there was
- 7:10a story about how they made a movie for Netflix
- 7:12and they were upset because it wasn't being promoted, and
- 7:16they it was a woman director. They called up Netflix,
- 7:19this is what the hell? And so Netflix bought one
- 7:22billboard which was next to her house so that she
- 7:26would see it, so that she would shut up.
- 7:29Speaker 1: That was it. See we promoted I want it to
- 7:33be successful. You have to exactly, all right?
- 7:36Speaker 2: Is that it?
- 7:37Speaker 1: That's good.
- 7:39Speaker 3: We've hoped you'd enjoyed another list with radio from Hell
- 7:43on X ninety six
