- 0:36Welcome back to Rick and Elaine discuss the Bible
- 0:39and in particular, Job. Boy, I've, I've really
- 0:43like stirred up the hornet's nest over in Elaine's
- 0:45Spain. How are you Elaine? Well, I'm fine. Thank
- 0:48you very much. Yeah. The sun's shining. The birds
- 0:50are singing. It's good to be alive. Yeah. So
- 0:54today I called Elaine out of the blue and I was
- 0:56like, Hey, can we hurry up and do the study early?
- 0:58Cause I got to go to work next Friday, Saturday
- 1:01and Sunday, June 5th, 6th and 7th is the blade
- 1:03show Atlantis, the largest blade show in the
- 1:05world. I have been working for two particular
- 1:08companies making some stuff. I've got a really
- 1:10big important meeting with these guys This is
- 1:13a company called heretic knives. They're out
- 1:15of Florida. I've got a meeting with them at blade
- 1:17show. I know the owner Yeah, I know the owner
- 1:22and their CEO they're really really good people
- 1:25and I'm excited to see them They have some really
- 1:28cool products. If you've never heard of them
- 1:29go check out heretic knives Calm and you'll see
- 1:32they make some really really cool stuff Also
- 1:35look at Vero Engineering and look at American
- 1:38Blade Works. We're making stuff for all of these
- 1:40companies. We've been blessed, guys. I wanted
- 1:43to tell everybody because you watch us suffer
- 1:46through all of this. We've been blessed. I've
- 1:49got enough business to keep me busy. until probably
- 1:52Christmas time right now. So I'm so thankful.
- 1:56Absolutely. We're still going through this financial
- 1:58struggle. However, I had somebody come in to
- 2:01partner with me, not as a partner, but to help
- 2:03us get over this hump so that we can keep our
- 2:06building, keep our machinery and keep going.
- 2:09That has been incredibly good to us. And so all
- 2:12of this to say this is what we're going to get
- 2:15into today. And Jobe, I really The Lord let me
- 2:19go through some job style stuff so that I could
- 2:22understand some things Elaine and so I'm I'm
- 2:25thankful that you have been with me through this
- 2:27journey that you were a partner in helping me
- 2:29you and Chris helped me and my family and so
- 2:31all of these things happen like guys and You
- 2:34on the community you reached out to me. Thank
- 2:36you. I love you You know you you may be going
- 2:40through some suffering I had a brother I had
- 2:42a brother from Texas call me yesterday who listened
- 2:45to episode 13 On the podcast and he said he said
- 2:49brother He said I can't even remember what you
- 2:53said, but he said I'm going through such a hard
- 2:54time right now I thought if anybody would understand
- 2:56it's my brother Rick and so he called me and
- 2:59so we got to talk about this and everything that
- 3:02you know in job the things that I've learned
- 3:04and I was able to urge him and pray for him and
- 3:07it's just Praise God. He loves us and he works
- 3:11for us and suffering is part of it I think that's
- 3:15the thing, isn't it? It is necessary. I mean,
- 3:19again, what does he say? You know, Christ learned
- 3:21obedience by the things he suffered. Don't go
- 3:24on it, Elaine. Don't go on it. I just told you
- 3:26to turn to Hebrews chapter five before we recorded.
- 3:29You're already reading my brain. Well, that's
- 3:33exactly what goes through my head all the time.
- 3:35And that's stealing someone's thunder. Well,
- 3:39yeah, I'm sorry about that. It's just one of
- 3:41those things, isn't it? You're always right there
- 3:46with me Elaine, you're always right there with
- 3:48me. Yeah, that's one of my favorite scriptures
- 3:49that I always point out to people when they think
- 3:51they're suffering and that's why he wasn't declared
- 3:54perfect until he breathed his last breath because
- 3:57we didn't know whether he was going to remain
- 3:59perfect right the way out until the end. Obedience
- 4:01is the thing. obedience always obey obedience
- 4:05you know remain stay abide all those things in
- 4:08me is about obedience it goes back to the garden
- 4:11of Eden disobedience and only God has the right
- 4:14to turn around to say what's good and evil and
- 4:16we're obedient to him as a father yes absolutely
- 4:19now if you would Elaine's gonna be reading a
- 4:23lot today but we're not gonna get into joke yet
- 4:25I had asked no don't apologize That we're not
- 4:28we're not going to read the whole speech because
- 4:31guys you can read your own bibles and you can
- 4:33Follow along with our study just fine. We don't
- 4:36need to read it to you every time Well, the reason
- 4:38why we do is because I want to go through verse
- 4:41by verse, but it's not necessary It is necessary
- 4:43if you really want to dig in deep with what a
- 4:45lie who's saying Yes, we could do that in this
- 4:47study, but I don't think it's as important to
- 4:50do it in that light. I think what's important
- 4:52is to bring out the certain things that this
- 4:55young man who comes in like a fire brain brings
- 4:57to Job. What's really important is that there's
- 5:00a storm cloud brewing. That's actually the important
- 5:04part of this book. There's a storm cloud brewing
- 5:06after all of this wisdom argumentation and all
- 5:09this stuff that's happened and this young man
- 5:10comes in and says, let me show you something.
- 5:14There's something rolling in. Yeah, there's something
- 5:16rolling in. Yeah let me tell you what i've been
- 5:19listening to i've been listening to men talk
- 5:22about job i've been listening to job talk about
- 5:24job and i've been listening to joe talk about
- 5:26all the things that god's doing to him but the
- 5:29one thing i haven't heard out of his mouth is
- 5:31how god is good and so that is doing is your
- 5:34good that's what i haven't heard here for us.
- 5:38And that's why i was right and i hope i don't
- 5:41have to be perfect. A lie who just has to bring
- 5:44the message for the storm cloud to roll in for
- 5:47God to speak. And so that's the important it's
- 5:49like John the Baptist to Christ. It's like this
- 5:52moment where it comes in. I was, I wrote an article
- 5:55the other day, Elaine, it was a response to Jason
- 5:59Bradfield. And I had said in that, that John
- 6:02the Baptist had said, I'm not that Elijah. He
- 6:05said that with his own lips. I'm not the Elijah.
- 6:09But then Jesus post -transfiguration tells the
- 6:12three disciples Peter James and John as they're
- 6:14walking down the mountain They've done whatsoever.
- 6:15They wanted to do with him He is that Elijah
- 6:19who is to come? I think the thing is what what
- 6:20Jesus again? We have to separate now the physical
- 6:23from the spiritual, you know No, he wasn't physically
- 6:25Elijah as Elijah in the spirit Yes, he did. And
- 6:31that's why he's saying, John the Baptist may
- 6:35or may not have known everything in regard to
- 6:37what he was doing. I don't think that he did
- 6:39know. He didn't know where he was in the prophetic
- 6:41story, did he? No, but he knew that he was the
- 6:44one, the voice that was crying out in the wilderness.
- 6:46Exactly. Yeah, prophesied. But he did exactly
- 6:50what Elijah did. Elijah went to Ahab and Jezebel,
- 6:53and John the Baptist goes to Herod and Herodias,
- 6:57or whatever, and exposes their infidelities.
- 7:00And so he gets put in prison and killed. Elijah
- 7:02does not. Elijah goes up in a whirlwind. There's
- 7:04a difference. He goes up in a whirlwind. A whirlwind.
- 7:07But again, see, this is what I was saying the
- 7:09other day about rolling, about something moving
- 7:11forward. About the rolling. About Acts chapter
- 7:15one, verse 11. Yeah. What we are going to get
- 7:18into, by the way, which is a true response to
- 7:20Jason Bradfield and Gary DeMar. Yeah. When you
- 7:25read my article at the end of it, I said, now
- 7:28it's up for you to decide if I actually responded.
- 7:30And the answer is I did not. I didn't respond
- 7:33to my phone now. We're going to respond now.
- 7:36That was a little it's a little taste. And Elaine's
- 7:39got some good stuff. But Elaine, would you read
- 7:41something for me? Yep. Would you read? Hebrews
- 7:45chapter five verses five through nine That's
- 7:50five through nine. Yeah, I want you to listen
- 7:51closely guys about the suffering part But but
- 7:54also about him and the priesthood and what he
- 7:57stands for so chapter five or five through nine,
- 8:00right? It says so neither did the Messiah glorify
- 8:03himself to become high priest Rather it was the
- 8:07one who said of him you are my son Today I have
- 8:12become your father Also, as he says in another
- 8:15place, you are a priest forever to be compared
- 8:19with Melchizedek, which is the Hebrew part. During
- 8:23Yeshua's life on earth, he offered up prayers
- 8:25and petitions, crying aloud and shedding tears
- 8:28to the one who had the power to deliver him from
- 8:30death. And he was heard because of his godliness.
- 8:34Even though he was a son, he learned obedience
- 8:37through his sufferings. And after he had been
- 8:40brought to the goal of perfection, He became
- 8:43the source of eternal deliverance to all who
- 8:47obey Him. Isn't that wonderful? Yeah. Verse 10
- 8:51says, called of God and high priest after the
- 8:54order of Melchizedek. So what did he say? Though
- 8:59he were a son, yet learned he obedience by the
- 9:01things which he suffered. All right. So if that
- 9:03doesn't tell you that suffering is baked into
- 9:06the cake of salvation. Absolutely. Suffering
- 9:10is baked into the cake and also take away and
- 9:13also taking you towards the goal of completeness.
- 9:16That's right. So suffering is not only possible,
- 9:20it's absolutely necessary. And so that's what.
- 9:25We're learning in job i told you it's how to
- 9:28become a high priest it's also how to become
- 9:31a true and righteous king it's also how to know
- 9:34god and to understand who he is and what he's
- 9:37doing with you and he cry out to him in tears
- 9:41but also stay the course with him absolutely
- 9:45this is what. Adam did not do. Adam did not do
- 9:49it. Eve did not do it. Other men and women throughout
- 9:52the scriptures did not do it. And that's what
- 9:55we're going back. Again, it's always going back
- 9:57to the Garden of Delights, the Garden of Eden,
- 10:01the place where the representation was. God knows
- 10:03what's best. All the time you're obedient. You
- 10:07know he's your father. He loves you. He understands
- 10:09that you need him as a father in your life. He
- 10:11didn't make you to go independent of him. You
- 10:14need to listen to what he says. And that's the
- 10:16whole point. This is the whole lesson of mankind
- 10:18that to walk with God simply because we know
- 10:21that he has all the cards and he, at the end
- 10:24of the day, is the only one that can tell us
- 10:26the bench line for what good and bad is. Because
- 10:29I don't know. Because my body just turns around
- 10:33and says to me sometimes, uh -uh, no. But the
- 10:36spirit is going, meh. So this is it. And that's
- 10:39the whole thing. Right. We need to listen and
- 10:42obey. Yes, that's right. All right, so let's
- 10:45do this now. Let's get back into our study with
- 10:47Elihu. If you would go to chapter 33, we covered
- 10:50chapter 32. Elihu comes in hot, angry, young,
- 10:54and bringing some serious, you know, hey man,
- 10:58it's time to get real. Y 'all, you old men have
- 11:00had your moment. You sat around and talked about
- 11:02Job long enough. Now listen to me, harking unto
- 11:05me. I'm about to tell you something. Exactly.
- 11:07Yes, lend me your ears. Yeah, men. Lend me your
- 11:11ears. And so when we get into Job chapter 33,
- 11:14Elihu is still speaking and Let's see here. I
- 11:18may have you actually just read this this chapter
- 11:20actually, um, I Don't know it's 33 verses. Are
- 11:25you willing to read just Job 33 33 verses? Yep.
- 11:30All right guys listen closely. We're not gonna
- 11:31read all of this But I just we're gonna read
- 11:34all of chapter 33 Right, please bear with me
- 11:37if I get it wrong So, Job, please hear my speech.
- 11:41Listen to all my words. Look, I am opening my
- 11:45mouth. The words are on the tip of my tongue.
- 11:49I will say exactly what is on my mind, what my
- 11:52lips know. They will speak sincerely. But it
- 11:55is the Spirit of God that made me, the breath
- 11:58of Shaddai that gives me life. So refute me if
- 12:01you can. Organize your words. Take your stand.
- 12:06Look before God. I'm the same as you. I too am
- 12:10fashioned from clay. You don't need to be afraid
- 12:12of me. My pressure on you will not be heavy.
- 12:17You spoke within my hearing and I heard what
- 12:19you said. I am clean without transgression. I'm
- 12:22innocent, not guilty. Yet God finds pretext for
- 12:26accusing me. He regards me as an enemy. He puts
- 12:29my feet in the stocks and watches wherever I
- 12:31go. But in this, you are wrong. I will answer
- 12:36you. God is greater than any mortal. Why do you
- 12:41strive against him? He will not defend his words.
- 12:45God speaks once, even twice, and still the hearer
- 12:49misses the point. In a dream, in a vision at
- 12:52night, when slumber falls upon people as they
- 12:55sleep in their beds, he opens people's ears and
- 12:58seals the matter with a warning to turn a person
- 13:01away from his action. and protect a man from
- 13:04pride so that he will keep himself away from
- 13:07the pit and from perishing by the sword. He is
- 13:10also warned by pain when in bed, when all his
- 13:14bones are hurting so that he detests bread as
- 13:18well as rich food. His flesh wastes away till
- 13:21no one can stand to look. His bones protrude
- 13:25and become unsightly. His soul comes close to
- 13:28the pit and his life to those who bring death.
- 13:31If there is for him an angel, a mediator, one
- 13:35among a thousand, who can vouch for the man of
- 13:38uprightness? Then God is gracious to him and
- 13:41says, redeem him from going down to the pit.
- 13:44I have found a ransom. His flesh becomes fresher
- 13:47than of youth. It returns to the days of a child.
- 13:51He prays to God and is sceptered of him so that
- 13:55he sees God's face with joy and God repays the
- 13:58man for his righteousness. He declares before
- 14:01everyone, I sinned, I perverted what is right
- 14:05and it gained me nothing. God redeemed me from
- 14:09going into the pit and now my life sees light.
- 14:13God will accomplish all these things twice, even
- 14:15three times with a man to bring him back from
- 14:18the pit so that he can enjoy the light of the
- 14:21living. Pay attention Job, listen to me, keep
- 14:25quiet and I will keep speaking. If you have something
- 14:29to say, answer me, speak, because I want to show
- 14:32you that you are right. If not, then listen to
- 14:35me, keep quiet and I will teach you wisdom. Yeah,
- 14:40buddy. All right. So that was a mouthful, but
- 14:44he's really, he says a lot of things that Joe
- 14:47was actually asking about before, you know, when
- 14:49he talked about that, if there's a special messenger
- 14:51or a mediator. God will send him why the whole
- 14:55purpose is to keep man out of the pit. Absolutely.
- 14:59That's the whole point. Yeah. To keep you out
- 15:02of the pit. Yep. And then he uses this word and
- 15:05I love this word, ransom. Absolutely. Have you
- 15:09got ransom in yours? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Ransom
- 15:12is in the King James version. He uses the word
- 15:15ransom. And so that's really interesting because
- 15:17do we know somebody that gave his life as a ransom
- 15:20for many? Do we know anybody like that? Oh, I
- 15:23wonder. Hmm. The greatest I preached ever after
- 15:27the ordom is perhaps the king of all kings. Yes,
- 15:30you are. In him was life and the life was light
- 15:33of men. He gave that life. That's right. As a
- 15:36ransom for many. And he gave that life. And again,
- 15:39what is it? I mean, if you go to Strong's, you'll
- 15:41see that pit, abyss, deep is all the same origin,
- 15:45same or all the same origin. So you've got to
- 15:47go back to Genesis once again. Darkness was over
- 15:49the face of the deep and God said, let there
- 15:51be light. so there's your ransom yes and so if
- 15:55there are dreams and visions or physical suffering
- 15:59whatever it is the purpose is what to keep you
- 16:03out of the pit that's right because god loves
- 16:06you from going down to death from going down
- 16:10to death so he has he can send a mediator absolutely
- 16:13he can also give a ransom to get you out so Elihu
- 16:18is right Elihu is not And then when Elihu gets
- 16:21to the end of this, he says, okay, Job, he's
- 16:24almost like, later God's gonna be like, gird
- 16:25up your loin, son, here I come. Absolutely, here
- 16:28it comes. Here it comes, son. But Elihu's not,
- 16:31he's like, look, you don't have to be afraid
- 16:32of me. You don't have to have terror because
- 16:35of me. Like, I'm not gonna come in heavy. Isn't
- 16:37that wonderful for such a young man to have that
- 16:39kind of humility, to be able to speak truth and
- 16:42yet still remain in that position of humility?
- 16:45I would venture to say he's the polar opposite
- 16:47of Zophar. Zophar is the one that comes in like...
- 16:50And I would turn around that's to say that's
- 16:53the opposite of the way that the Jews went to
- 16:55the ordinary people as opposed to Christ in the
- 16:57second covenant, the new covenant, to his disciples.
- 17:01That's right. A hundred percent. 100 % so I'll
- 17:05just I'll just tell everybody if you look at
- 17:07chapter 33 verse 23 This is where we talked about
- 17:10the mediator go way back when when job was asking
- 17:13about that alive who is actually saying yes Yes,
- 17:16actually God will send a messenger. He might
- 17:18eat dreams and visions. He will put you through
- 17:20physical suffering, but the point Is to bring
- 17:24you to himself the points right you out hit whatever
- 17:28this darkness this chaos this pit This place
- 17:31later on, God's going to talk about the Leviathan.
- 17:34He's going to say, this is how I redeem you from
- 17:36that. This is how I get you to you. OK, so it
- 17:39is baked into the cake of the scriptures. It's
- 17:42baked into the cake of our lives. It's baked
- 17:43into this. It's baked into the cake. Yes, it's
- 17:46a it's a love. It's a love feast, isn't it? Yes,
- 17:49it's all about love. If people. Learn anything
- 17:54from all that we're talking about. You know,
- 17:56I think that at the base of it God is drawing
- 17:58you back to himself because he loves you Yes,
- 18:01absolutely loves you and guys I'm not call me
- 18:06a liar if you want. I don't mean to but Elaine
- 18:09when you read chapter 33 just now My heart was
- 18:14just bursting. I love the way that you read the
- 18:17Bible. Oh Bless thank you. I'm gonna ask you
- 18:20to read chapter 34. I'm sorry Oh, I tell you
- 18:23what, that little carrot was dangled then, wasn't
- 18:26it, Rick? You did it. You dangled the little
- 18:29carrot across the screen for me. No, you dangled
- 18:32the carrot and expected me to bite. You can say
- 18:35no, Rick, I'm not going to, just honor your word.
- 18:38But guys, if you're listening to it, I don't
- 18:41want to shortcut you. Yes, you can read it. But
- 18:43if you want to listen. Elaine, you read it so
- 18:47beautifully and I'm not just... Oh, I don't know
- 18:49about that, Rick, but I'll do it. I just want
- 18:52to hear it. Would you read chapter... Yes, it's
- 18:5437 verses, guys. If you don't like listening
- 18:57to it, just hit the fast forward button. But
- 18:59if you want, if you're driving or if you're just
- 19:01sitting around, shut your eyes and just listen
- 19:03to what I like saying. Oh, unless you're driving,
- 19:05of course. Yeah, shut your eyes if you're driving
- 19:07too and just hope for the best. Do you want me
- 19:11to carry on, young man? Chapter 34 would you
- 19:14believe please do that now listen now he said
- 19:16job listen up Because you're right, but you're
- 19:20right, but and here it goes right Hear my words
- 19:25you sages listen to me you who are so much For
- 19:30the ear tests words and as the palate tastes
- 19:32food. Let's choose for ourselves. What is just
- 19:35let's decide among ourselves What is good for
- 19:38job says I am in the right? But God is denying
- 19:42me justice. Against justice, I am considered
- 19:45a liar. My wound is mortal, though I have committed
- 19:48no crime. Is there a man like Job, who drinks
- 19:52in scoffing light water, who keeps company with
- 19:55evildoers, and goes with wicked men, since he
- 19:58thinks it profits a person nothing to be in accord
- 20:00with God? So listen to me, you men with sense.
- 20:04Far be it from God to do anything wicked, for
- 20:08he pays people back for what they do. and sees
- 20:11that each gets what his conduct deserves. It
- 20:14is certain that God does nothing wicked, should
- 20:17I will not pervert justice. Did someone else
- 20:21put him in charge of the earth? Who else established
- 20:25the entire world? If he were to take back man's
- 20:28hearts to himself, if he gathered to himself
- 20:31his spirit and breath, all flesh would instantly
- 20:35perish. Everyone would return to the dust. If
- 20:39you have any sense, Job, hear this. Listen to
- 20:42what I am saying. Should a hater of justice be
- 20:46in control? If you wouldn't tell a king you're
- 20:49a scoundrel or nobles you are wicked men, then
- 20:52you shouldn't be condemned the just and mighty
- 20:54one. Then you shouldn't condemn the just and
- 20:58mighty one who is neither partial towards princes
- 21:01nor favors the rich over the poor, since they
- 21:04all are the work of his hands. they may die in
- 21:07a moment in the middle of the night the people
- 21:10are shaken and passed away the mighty are removed
- 21:13with human hands for he keeps watch on a person's
- 21:16ways he sees his every step there is no darkness
- 21:20no death like gloom where wrongdoers can hide
- 21:23for he doesn't give warning to people when they
- 21:26must appear before god in judgment he shutters
- 21:29the mighty without needing to investigate and
- 21:32sets up others in their place therefore aware
- 21:36of what they are doing, he overturns them by
- 21:38night and they're crushed. He strikes them as
- 21:41if they were common criminals in the open side
- 21:44of others because they turned away from following
- 21:46him and gave no thought to any of his ways, thereby
- 21:50bringing before him the cries of the poor and
- 21:54he hears the cries of the oppressed. But if God
- 21:57is silent, who can accuse him? If he hides his
- 22:01face, who can see him? If you may do this to
- 22:04nations and persons alike, so that godless men
- 22:07will not become kings and the people will not
- 22:10be lured into traps. For has anyone said to God,
- 22:14I have been chastised without offending? Teach
- 22:17me what I have failed to see, and if I have done
- 22:20wrong, I will do it no more. Must his rewards
- 22:24meet your approval? Well, you are the one who
- 22:28doesn't like them, so you, not I, should pick
- 22:31the alternative. Come on, say what you think,
- 22:35intelligent people will tell me. Every wise man
- 22:38who hears me will say, Job is speaking without
- 22:43thinking, his words like discernment. I wish
- 22:47Joe would be quiet, kept on trial forever, because
- 22:51he answers like wicked men. For now, to his sin,
- 22:55he adds rebellion. He mockingly claps his hands
- 22:58among us and keeps adding to his words against
- 23:01God. I'm so sorry about that. It just sort of
- 23:05started blurring into one. It's OK. I've made
- 23:07you read over 60 plus versus almost 70 versus
- 23:10actually. So. I won't make you read the rest
- 23:14of this, but I just I wanted to say when you're
- 23:16listening to a lie who when you first starts
- 23:18talking about Job and wicked men and all this,
- 23:21he's he's actually addressing the three friends
- 23:25like because he's trying to tell them like, all
- 23:27right, you old folks, you old fogies. You sages.
- 23:32He uses that. I don't know if he's being sarcastic
- 23:34because because he's looking at him and he's
- 23:37like, you're over here with him. You're sitting
- 23:41down over here with him. Is Job really that wicked?
- 23:45Are you really going to come out? Are you sitting
- 23:47with him? And like, I think he's pointing that
- 23:49out, but he's also getting ready. He's getting
- 23:51back to Job and he's like, listen, Job, you are
- 23:54in fact wrong. So you can be upright and righteous
- 23:57before God's eyes, but still be wrong. Yes. That's
- 24:00right. That's what grace is. Yes. This is what
- 24:04grace is. Okay. So, but then he, so here's what's
- 24:07here's what's the major theme. Okay. God is never
- 24:11unjust. That's right. First and foremost thing
- 24:13he's never discussed. And so a lie who has the
- 24:17right. To challenge the growing frustration of
- 24:20job that's why he's there god is never unjust
- 24:23now job is working through that he's like god
- 24:26is an enemy of mine he's coming against me but
- 24:28that's not true. No that's not true so i was
- 24:32pointing that out to job like you can't say that
- 24:35you're acting like a wicked man by using those
- 24:38words well that's exactly what he says there
- 24:40isn't a system you are adding. Where is where
- 24:46is it. I think it was towards the end. It's right.
- 24:49The end, wasn't it? He said, for now, he's for
- 24:52now to his sin. He has rebellion. He mockingly
- 24:56claps his hands among us and keeps adding to
- 24:58his words against God. There it is. So and so
- 25:01is alive wrong. The answer is no, he's not wrong.
- 25:03I was actually right now being a forerunner.
- 25:07John the Baptist would never say something like
- 25:09that about Christ. If we juxtapose this idea,
- 25:12John the Baptist standing in the rivers of the
- 25:14Jordan and here comes Christ and he says, wait,
- 25:17I should be baptized to be not the other way
- 25:20around. So it's right. Who is different. A lie.
- 25:23He was acting like a prophet class to a pagan
- 25:25nation. That's right. Jonah is to Nineveh. Yeah.
- 25:30Like the way these things work. So he's coming
- 25:32in and he's saying, actually, yeah, you're right.
- 25:37Yes, I didn't do anything to deserve this. But
- 25:40where you're wrong is with your lips because
- 25:42you don't see that you're not justifying God
- 25:46and his true justice. That's right. Once again,
- 25:48he was trying to justify himself. Yes. You're
- 25:52talking about Job. I'm talking about Job. We're
- 25:54all talking about Job. I mean, you've only got
- 25:56to go back to the Apostle Paul. He said, you
- 25:58know, I was born of the tribe of Benjamin, circumcised
- 26:00on the eighth day, Hebrew, Hebrews. I did all
- 26:02this. And yet he was trying to justify himself
- 26:05by his works. But when you realize you can never
- 26:08justify yourself by words, that's when humility
- 26:10sets in and you understand all these things are
- 26:13right, but I can't do them. Yeah, my favorite
- 26:16line of Paul after saying something like that
- 26:18is, and you know what? I consider it all dung.
- 26:21Dung. I consider all of those things a pile of
- 26:25poo. I mean, that's what he said. I mean... That's
- 26:28right. That's right. And that really goes back
- 26:32to, again, a pile of poo is rolling. It's rolling
- 26:34the dung away. That's right. We're going back
- 26:38to Acts chapter one verse 11 again. They're rolling.
- 26:42They're rolling the dung away. Those are intently
- 26:46looking at Christ. That's right. And all right.
- 26:50So with the light. That's another story. It is
- 26:51another story. So here in chapter 34, Elihu is
- 26:55basically saying, first of all, God owes no one
- 26:58an explanation. Nobody. No. You can do what he
- 27:02wants with mankind. He can take one of the kings
- 27:04and put them aside and lift up somebody in his
- 27:06place and you can't utter a word. No. While you're
- 27:09either of all things and he's not and he is being
- 27:11just. He is good. God cannot act wickedly. He
- 27:18cannot act wickedly. Human rulers may be corrupt,
- 27:23but God is not. That's what he's basically saying
- 27:25here. All right. So that's right. And he watches
- 27:28every move they make and he rewards them for
- 27:30what they are. And that's the thing. He raises
- 27:31them up for a purpose and he tears them down.
- 27:34Yes, he does. So the the this chapter is beginning.
- 27:41What what Eli who's doing is he's moving it.
- 27:44Remember, we've been talking about this like
- 27:45a courtroom drama. Yeah, absolutely. So if you
- 27:48can imagine what Eli who's getting what he's
- 27:51doing in this discussion is he's taking you from
- 27:52the courtroom. And now he's shifting that away
- 27:56to the side. And now he's bringing all of us
- 27:59over here into the judge. Now we're gonna talk
- 28:03about the judge. We've been talking about the
- 28:05court. Let's talk about the judge, okay? So that's
- 28:09what we're doing. Now it's going from the courtroom
- 28:10arguments to the sovereignty of God. Job is about
- 28:14the sovereignty of God. Of course it is. But
- 28:17you gotta get there through the tumult. Absolutely,
- 28:21it takes you back to that God is the just and
- 28:23the justifier, doesn't it? Uh huh, yeah. It takes
- 28:26you right back to that. Yes, there's a sentence
- 28:29passed there, but at the end of the day, he knows
- 28:31you can't keep it, so it really is going back
- 28:34to Christ again. Elihu is bringing all these
- 28:37words that are totally and utterly correct, even
- 28:39though he can't keep them. Yeah. Nobody can keep
- 28:42them. Right. He's just bringing it back to that,
- 28:45and it's just... It just is wonderful that, like
- 28:47I say, the way it opens up the way that he's
- 28:49bringing in this wisdom for such a young age.
- 28:52You know, this is the whole point of looking
- 28:54at it as sort of like going going to Christ.
- 28:58You know, the whole thing really is to do with
- 29:01sort of like the opening of the flower to produce
- 29:05Christ. This is what's this is what's being brought
- 29:07out in the whole of Job right from start to finish.
- 29:10Yes, it's yeah. How to become a high priest.
- 29:13is how to become like Christ or who Christ is,
- 29:16really. All right, so either A, you can read
- 29:2016 more verses or I'll read them. It's up to
- 29:22you, but I... Yeah, go on, because you can show
- 29:24me how to do it. Ah ha ha. You see how she took
- 29:27the carrot and shoved it back in the ground?
- 29:29Here we go. In your face. Chapter 35. Now you
- 29:33watch this. Ricky's going to do this absolutely
- 29:36perfectly and blow me out of the water. With
- 29:38humility, brother, I will bow to your superiority.
- 29:43All right, I'm gonna read out of the Common Jewish
- 29:45Bible. Elihu went on to say... What's that? Complete.
- 29:51What did I say? Common. Oh, Complete Jewish Bible.
- 29:55Complete. See, I already messed up. Well, there
- 29:58you go. I just paid his debts with money. Just
- 30:01a little bit. Carrots back up here. There we
- 30:03go. Elihu went on to say, Are you so convinced
- 30:07you are right that you say, I am more just than
- 30:10God? For you ask what advantage it is to you.
- 30:14How do I gain from not sinning? Remember when
- 30:17he asked that here's my answer to you to you
- 30:20and to your friends Look at the heavens and see
- 30:23observe the skies high above you. If you sin,
- 30:26how do you hurt him? If your crimes are many,
- 30:29how do you affect him? If you are righteous,
- 30:32what do you give him? What benefit does he get
- 30:35from you? Yeah Mmm, your wickedness can affect
- 30:39only others like you Yeah. My goodness, only
- 30:42other human beings. Yeah. Who cry out from under
- 30:46many oppressions. They cry for help from under
- 30:49the fist of the mighty. But no one asks, where
- 30:53is God my maker who causes glad songs to ring
- 30:56out at night? Who teaches us more than he teaches
- 30:59wild animals and makes us wiser than the birds
- 31:01in the air? They may cry out, but no one answers
- 31:05because of evil men's pride. For God will not
- 31:08listen to empty cries To die pays no attention
- 31:13to them all the more when you say that you don't
- 31:16see him just be patient He's considering the
- 31:19matter now. I want to stop for just a minute
- 31:21guys. I think that there's a storm brewing off
- 31:25on the horizon Okay, I think as a lie who's sitting
- 31:29there talking as he's speaking. He says When
- 31:33you say to him, you don't see him be patient
- 31:37He's considering the matter knowing what's coming.
- 31:39He's like there's thunder. He's considering it
- 31:43guys. But now just because he doesn't get angry
- 31:47and punished doesn't mean he doesn't know what
- 31:50arrogance is. That's right. He's aware of everything.
- 31:54Yeah. So Job is being futile when or futile when
- 31:59he opens his mouth. He is piling up words without
- 32:03knowledge. They'll all come back on him. Yes,
- 32:07they will. Yes, they will. So. That was lovely,
- 32:12by the way, Rick. Oh, was it? Very creamy and
- 32:15beautiful. Yeah, very creamy. Yes. Well, thank
- 32:19you. I will read. I'm going to read. I'm going
- 32:21to read more. But all right, guys. So let's see
- 32:24what the word creamy does. All right. So in chapter.
- 32:33I just love that, you know, if you sin, how do
- 32:35you hurt him? You know, if your crimes are many,
- 32:38how do you affect him? I think that that is saying
- 32:41it matter of factly, but I think that actually
- 32:44it does have God at times. It is sad. He does
- 32:48feel those things. But I think as directly, if
- 32:54you're looking at it as you performing something
- 32:57as a cold act of moral nature, no, it doesn't
- 33:02affect him because he's God. But as we know,
- 33:06further down the line when God really starts
- 33:08sort of opening everything up. That love aspect.
- 33:13I think a lot. Yeah, agreed. And I think what
- 33:15a lie who's really pointing out here, I think
- 33:18what he's saying is that, like, God's not dependent
- 33:21upon. No, he's not. He's not dependent. Let's
- 33:23get that right. Your sin and my sin does not
- 33:28diminish God. God remains in the heavenly constant.
- 33:32And righteousness doesn't even enrich God, like
- 33:34it's not, he wants it, but that's not, it's not
- 33:36enriching this. No, it's part of the relationship.
- 33:40He wants the relationship, but the righteousness
- 33:42comes from Christ. As we know that what we're
- 33:44talking about is your righteousness is his filthy
- 33:47rags. I mean, that's what he says in our world
- 33:49to Isaiah. All right. So it really, what he did
- 33:54was he just exposed the transactional theology.
- 33:58That was going on between job and the friends.
- 34:01All right, this transactional back -and -forth
- 34:03theology. All right. All right, so now Gird up
- 34:06your loins. I'm gonna read chapter 36 you All
- 34:10I had to bear with me a little and I will show
- 34:12you that there is more to say on God's behalf
- 34:14so guys look This is where his youth is showing
- 34:19he's always coming back to okay guys back to
- 34:22me now Let's keep this is youth talking. You
- 34:26may be right But you're still seeing the youth,
- 34:28OK? I may search far and wide for my arguments
- 34:31and I will ascribe righteousness to God, my maker.
- 34:33That's good. For the fact is that my words are
- 34:36true and have you have with you a man who whose
- 34:40views are pure. That's weird. Well, the views
- 34:45appear. But listen to this. Look, God, who is
- 34:48powerful and despises no one powerful in his
- 34:51strength of understanding, he does not preserve
- 34:54the lives of the wicked. but he gives justice
- 34:57to the poor. How many times have you heard me
- 35:02talk about this? Guys, when I was at the Berean
- 35:04Conference, I talked about this. When we even
- 35:06go through the study of Job, I've been talking
- 35:08about this. God hears the voice of the widow.
- 35:11He pleads the widow's cause. He is the defender
- 35:14of widows and orphans. But again, it goes back
- 35:16to the Sermon on the Mount. Happy are the pure
- 35:19in heart. Yeah. Happy are the poor. The poor
- 35:24in spirit. Again, it's this spiritual aspect
- 35:28of understanding God's mind on it. It's not necessarily
- 35:30physical. It's spiritually discerned. If you
- 35:36are poor spiritually, then you will be made rich.
- 35:39And he hears those that are poor in spirit. This
- 35:42is what he's talking about. This is the whole
- 35:44thing that's going through. You're poor in spirit.
- 35:46He hears those that are poor in spirit. Those
- 35:49that actually want to become rich. He will enrich.
- 35:52Yes. Amen, I love it. He does not withdraw his
- 35:56eyes from the righteous, but when he sets kings
- 35:58on their throne forever, they may become proud.
- 36:04There's only one king that's gonna sit on the
- 36:06throne forever, and guess what? It wasn't pride.
- 36:09No. If then they are bound in chains held in
- 36:12oppressive cords He shows them the results of
- 36:15their doings the crimes caused by their pride
- 36:17He sounds a warning in their ears and orders
- 36:20them to repent of their evil Yeah, pay attention
- 36:23and obey him. They spend their days in prosperity
- 36:25their years past past pleasantly I want you to
- 36:28notice something. This is post learning this
- 36:31from God. Absolutely so the transactional arguments
- 36:36between the men is pre God speaking. This is
- 36:41right after you learn. You see how that works?
- 36:44So this is once the relationship is established
- 36:47and you're with God, then after you learn the
- 36:49lesson from him, then these kinds of things work.
- 36:52That's why God's word is true. When you're in
- 36:54the wisdom theology, when you start listening
- 36:56to it, it's about after the relationship is happening.
- 36:59Isn't that the way it is? You know, when you
- 37:01get a wise person, everybody else is sort of
- 37:04like arguing and doing all that, but the wise
- 37:06person stays quiet. until everybody's exhausted,
- 37:11and then they look at the wise person and they
- 37:13think, well, are you gonna say something? And
- 37:15you think, now I speak. After you've done all
- 37:18your bit, after you've done all your infighting
- 37:20and squabbling, then we'll see what really the
- 37:24Bible has to say, what the word of God has to
- 37:25say, what humility has to say. That's what I
- 37:30think, Elihu is right here, and I think that
- 37:33he's... This transactional understanding of Old
- 37:37Testament wisdom theology is important because
- 37:39it only works if you're in relationship with
- 37:41God, not pre it's post. So this is what Job is
- 37:45going to learn later, but this is he's not wrong.
- 37:47So first of all, but if they don't pay attention,
- 37:51they perish by the sword and die without learning
- 37:53their lesson. Okay. Think about in Romans, wherever
- 37:57he says that God gave them over to a reprobate
- 38:00mind. Why? Because they. They wanted the darkness.
- 38:02They decided on the chaos. They didn't learn
- 38:05anything from the suffering that they had. What
- 38:07they said was, you know what, I want more of
- 38:09that. Exactly. I give you over to you. Here it
- 38:11is. And they never learned their lesson. And
- 38:14this is what he says. They don't pay attention.
- 38:16They perish by the sword and die without learning
- 38:18their lesson. That's right. That's the hard part.
- 38:22And this is the whole thing. You know, it's like
- 38:24I've said before, you know, if you want a fruitcake,
- 38:26don't use the ingredients for a Victoria's scone.
- 38:29It's the same thing. You know, you cannot, people
- 38:32say, why does this keep happening? Well, you're
- 38:35using the wrong ingredients. You are doing it
- 38:37your way. You're not doing it God's way. You
- 38:39have to listen to that, that voice, that small
- 38:41voice of a nighttime on your bed where you're
- 38:43going to sleep. You know, it wakes you up in
- 38:45the night. You've got to hear that because that
- 38:47is the voice that speaks to you and tells you
- 38:49the truth. It tells you the truth. You know,
- 38:53you are a little bit this, or it is your fault.
- 38:56They're the things that you don't want to admit.
- 38:58But once you start trusting in God, and humble
- 39:01yourself before God. That's when change takes
- 39:04over. That's when things do alter and you think,
- 39:08my gosh, it's starting to work. Well, you took
- 39:10yourself out of the equation. You didn't use
- 39:12the same ingredients that you normally do, which
- 39:14is imperfection. Right. Take that out of the
- 39:16equation. Put yourself to the bat and use godly
- 39:18ingredients. And I tell you, then it will work.
- 39:22Yeah, it will work. And the How do I say it?
- 39:30So what you were just saying about fruitcake
- 39:34to a Victoria sponge ingredient things like that.
- 39:37All right. So let me get personal for just a
- 39:39minute. So before I started this study of job,
- 39:43I was, I went through 12 deaths in my family.
- 39:46I had went through, we all went through COVID
- 39:48together. My business suffered a little bit of
- 39:50whatever, but we made it through it. We went
- 39:51through a hurricane of lean. My business suffered.
- 39:53I had to move it. It was very expensive. All
- 39:54these things. We started crashing down. Then
- 39:56I had I had six customers four of them were bought
- 40:01out and we lost the business within two months
- 40:03for in the history of my career that that's unprecedented
- 40:06it's never happened. So then we begin to suffer
- 40:09having to lay off people and i have a lot of
- 40:11family and friends that work for me and so this
- 40:12is painful is really hard financially things
- 40:15start to crumble whatever then we lose our biggest
- 40:17customer. And right as we're losing our biggest
- 40:19customer like niece dies tragically in a car
- 40:22accident and my sister -in -law is Devastated
- 40:26and she is our operations manager and we're dealing
- 40:28with all this together And then we start going
- 40:30through this and that's whenever I start the
- 40:32study of job. Okay So when I first enter into
- 40:36job, I've got a pre job mindset I've got a life
- 40:41experience reading it From that perspective,
- 40:45begging God for help in all kinds of situations,
- 40:47not only in the study of his word, but also in
- 40:49my business and also in my relationship with
- 40:51my wife and my loved ones and all this like,
- 40:53yeah, like I've got that pre job. So as I'm going
- 40:57through this, I'm getting some ingredients for
- 41:00a fruitcake. That's right. I'm not, I probably
- 41:05set out to make a Victoria sponge, but God ended
- 41:07up giving me the ingredients for a fruitcake.
- 41:09And there you go. Okay. And there you go. So
- 41:12you, so, so what Elaine said was right. And that's
- 41:14exactly what's going on. And that's kind of what
- 41:16job is. Yeah. Job was the Victoria sponge manufacturer
- 41:21and God turned him into a fruit cake manufacturer.
- 41:25Exactly. That sounds so weird, but you get what
- 41:28I mean. He didn't turn them into a fruit cake,
- 41:30but you know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. But that's
- 41:32what I'm saying. You know, you, you cannot use
- 41:34the same ingredients. If you want something different,
- 41:36you cannot operate in, in the same manner. in
- 41:40a situation or a circumstance that you've always
- 41:43operated in and expect a different outcome it's
- 41:45not going to happen it's always going to be the
- 41:47same outcome shows the impedance and and hear
- 41:51what god says maybe you have to admit something
- 41:53about yourself you don't like maybe you have
- 41:55to go to someone and say do you know what i was
- 41:57wrong it might be very difficult let's tell you
- 41:59what if you do it as difficult as it is and you
- 42:02fight through and you go with the spirit of god
- 42:04and you put yourself to the side You will benefit
- 42:07that will be something that you will learn and
- 42:09this is what's happening it's true suffering.
- 42:11You know what you said with all those things
- 42:13that you've gone through i'm sure there are many
- 42:15people that listening to this that i've gone
- 42:17through many things similar or very sort of you
- 42:20know circumstances about just as much trauma.
- 42:24You have to ask you so we set us like saying
- 42:26all you know this why why me why me why me you
- 42:29got so much a lot this is painful be with me
- 42:32while i'm in this pain but help me to see what
- 42:34i'm learning. How can I use this? Right. Can
- 42:37I use this? Yes, I'm in pain. Yes, Joe was in
- 42:40pain. But Lord, what am I supposed to learn from
- 42:42this pain? Because I know you're righteous. Nothing
- 42:45is bad with you. So there's obedience I have
- 42:49to learn in suffering. You know, it's not all
- 42:51about I'm fed up with that. You know, I don't
- 42:52like that. Now I'm going to sit here and cry
- 42:54because this is what you've done to me. No, it's
- 42:57we go back to that scripture in Hebrews chapter
- 43:00five. You know, by by suffering, he learned obedience
- 43:03and being brought to the goal of completeness
- 43:07and perfection then he said today you have become
- 43:10my son and and that's one of the hard parts within
- 43:15christianity i know people when they read that
- 43:16like you mean jesus learned something i thought
- 43:18he was god okay you have to understand the physical
- 43:22to the spiritual and how god if you don't understand
- 43:25the physical to the spiritual how god did it
- 43:26you'll never understand what it means to learn
- 43:28And that's what he learned through suffering
- 43:31exactly obedient to god through that suffering
- 43:34He became the greatest high priest and king that
- 43:36ever lived exactly and the proof is that he got
- 43:39up out of the grave Yeah, so all right back to
- 43:4213 the godless in heart chapter 36 verse 13 The
- 43:48godless and heart cherish their anger, not crying
- 43:50for help when he binds them. Their soul perishes
- 43:53in their youth and their life becomes depraved.
- 43:56God with his affliction delivers the afflicted
- 44:00and he gets their attention by pressing on them.
- 44:04That's it. We're back to the Garden of Gethsemane,
- 44:08squeezing out that oil. Now, this is one of the
- 44:13most beautiful parts of this chapter. This verse...
- 44:17And the very next verse, you're going to love
- 44:19this. And anybody who has ever went through suffering
- 44:22with God and persevered and through endurance
- 44:25and it produced the character and character hope.
- 44:27When those things begin to happen in Christian
- 44:29life, you've heard this before. What I'm about
- 44:33to say, you've heard this before, but listen
- 44:34really close to what Elihu says. God, verse 15,
- 44:39God with his affliction delivers the afflicted.
- 44:42and he gets their attention by pressing them.
- 44:45Indeed, Job, he is drawing you away from distress
- 44:50to an untroubled open place with rich food. Amen.
- 44:56You're able. Yes. So in our physical suffering,
- 45:01I can look at somebody and say, you're going
- 45:02through a press because God has you there. My
- 45:05question to you is this. So this brother that
- 45:06called me yesterday, he was like, he's like,
- 45:09you know, He's like, I'm worried because I'm
- 45:12older and I'm afraid I'm not gonna be able to
- 45:13have this job and I'm not gonna be able to afford
- 45:15things and I could possibly lose my home and
- 45:17all this stuff. And I was like, bro, if you've
- 45:21listened to my study, let me tell you something.
- 45:23Do you wanna lose your home because God wants
- 45:25you to lose your home? How about what if God
- 45:28wants you to not be in that home anymore? What
- 45:30if God has decided to put you in Kenya or Nairobi
- 45:33or somewhere else in the world? What if what
- 45:36if God has decided that this home is not for
- 45:39you and that job is not for you? And that you
- 45:41and your wife are to be over here because this
- 45:43is what's best. Are you willing to look at your
- 45:46life like that? Are you gonna continue wanting
- 45:48what you want? Yeah The goal that our suffering
- 45:51is is to want what God wants for us I think that
- 45:54I think that's the thing and when everything
- 45:56is almost when everything's sitting pretty in
- 45:58your life That things start to sort of start
- 46:02pressing in on you and you think oh hang on a
- 46:04minute last week everything in my life was rosy
- 46:06but now so much has gone wrong in this last week
- 46:08what's happening it takes you back to Jesus isn't
- 46:11it those who he loves he prunes so that they
- 46:13can produce more fruit you can only produce the
- 46:16fruit of obedience then the righteousness of
- 46:20God will be upon you if you get a pruning you
- 46:23know you might be all lush and beautiful you
- 46:24think you said wow i'm heavily laden here all
- 46:27of a sudden the gardener comes along which is
- 46:28gone goes chop chop chop chop chop you think
- 46:30hang on a minute i was looking rather lovely
- 46:33then yeah Yeah. And you've just locked me off.
- 46:36Ah, but then God says you wait till a year's
- 46:38time. You are going to be even more lush and
- 46:41beautiful and bear more fruit than you did this
- 46:43year. So bear with me while I produce in you,
- 46:47because I am the root that produces you. Yes.
- 46:51So while. Yeah. All right. So this is strangely
- 46:55enough. This is where I want to end. Okay. I
- 46:58want to end because. That verse to this verse
- 47:01is very key in a lie whose position here in chapter
- 47:0436. But then when you get to verse 18, actually
- 47:0717 and 18, when we get to 17 and 18 in this speech,
- 47:11he begins to shift. He starts telling Job something.
- 47:14And then we get into chapter 37, which is right
- 47:16before God speaks. So I don't, I don't want to
- 47:19rush this part. I want to know here. We just
- 47:22went through a lot of chapters. We read it all
- 47:24to you, which I said we weren't going to do.
- 47:25And then we did. So I'm a liar and the truth
- 47:27is not any. Well, no, I don't think you're a
- 47:29liar. I think you had that intention. But it's
- 47:31so wonderful that you just couldn't help yourself.
- 47:33The fact is, is that God's word matters more
- 47:35than mine. His word matters more than my words.
- 47:39Exactly. And I'd rather you hear his words than
- 47:41my words. Oh, yes, I know I would rather. But
- 47:45they come out of your mouth so sweetly and creamy.
- 47:48Like cream of wheat. All right. So let's stop
- 47:50there. Peaches of cream. So let's stop there.
- 47:54OK. Want to stop here in verse 15 and 16 because
- 47:57we just showed you this now If think about the
- 48:00New Testament for just a minute Think about all
- 48:02the suffering that the apostolic generation had
- 48:04to go through and then think about the wedding
- 48:07feast that Jesus talked about Do you see how
- 48:10he says this? It's the same thing God delivers
- 48:12the affliction God afflicts them and then delivers
- 48:15the afflicted But then he brings them to this
- 48:17table with rich food on the table. All right,
- 48:20so it's the same thing in the New Testament This
- 48:22story kind of over it happens over and over again.
- 48:25How do you refine gold without smelting it? Yeah
- 48:29You can't you come it's got to be heated up and
- 48:32when you when there's a heat and you know I mean
- 48:34when the heats on it sometimes things but afterwards
- 48:37You know you get that dross off and you've got
- 48:40the gold is even more pure You can't just leave
- 48:43it like that because there's a bit more smelting
- 48:45is needed a bit more heat So, you know at the
- 48:47end of the day lucky Paul said didn't you know,
- 48:49we can kill it all we consider it all joy my
- 48:52brothers, you know, which trials are put upon
- 48:54us because God is producing in you. Well, think
- 48:57about after like Peter and John get beat by the
- 49:00Sanhedrin, then they go back and they're like,
- 49:03we're happy because we got beat. That was skipping
- 49:06down the road. Who are these crazy people? But
- 49:08see, it's because they understand it. Yeah. But
- 49:12you imagine sort of having having that and and
- 49:14just being able to skip and say do you know what
- 49:16lord i'm counting worthy of being beaten for
- 49:19you god in flesh that came here save me as a
- 49:22ransom wow you can't but they're not crazy because
- 49:25later on like you'll hear in revelation they'll
- 49:28cry out to god and they'll say how long i know
- 49:30how much longer until you're just as we know
- 49:32you're just Now we're just asking about the time
- 49:34frame, how long until you're just. Yeah, isn't
- 49:37it wonderful that they could actually ask him
- 49:39that if they turn a little bit sort of, you know,
- 49:42a bit irritable, really, how long we got to.
- 49:44That's how a relationship works. Exactly. And
- 49:48that's the beauty of it. You're not fearful of
- 49:50God, of approaching him and talking to him. But
- 49:54you feel first the throne boldly when you're
- 49:56in a relationship like that Exactly, because
- 49:58the righteousness that this is this is so i'm,
- 50:02so you glad you said that this is the perfect
- 50:03way to end it Because the righteousness in which
- 50:06you possess is not the righteousness of yourself
- 50:09No, righteousness of christ which gives you the
- 50:11access to the throne. Amen What whenever verse
- 50:1517 listen carefully i'm gonna say this but the
- 50:17judgment of the wicked applies fully to you I'm
- 50:19still talking to job. He said god afflicts those,
- 50:22then delivers the afflicted and brings them to
- 50:24the rich man's joy and his table. But the judgment
- 50:27on the wicked applies fully to you. Judgment
- 50:29and condemnation take hold. That is so critical.
- 50:33It's not your righteousness that gets you. It's
- 50:34the righteousness of Christ. It's God's right.
- 50:37That brings. I mean, and again, exactly, Rick.
- 50:40And you just have to learn that you actually
- 50:41haven't got any of your own anyway. And if you
- 50:44are righteous, it's only been given to you by
- 50:45God anyway. That's right. They don't boast. So
- 50:49let's end it there. Next the next time we get
- 50:52together and we are doing this on a Friday. We're
- 50:56sorry we had to delay. I'm so busy. I'm thankful
- 50:59for all this busyness of my business that we
- 51:02that I can get this stuff done. But we're going
- 51:05to get back into it next week. She and I are
- 51:07going to do a special study on Ax111. We're going
- 51:10to actually go back into this Jason Bradfield
- 51:13response stuff. And then we're going to get back
- 51:15into Genesis. And then when we start closing
- 51:18out the book of Job, Elaine and I are going to
- 51:20announce our next study, our next big study.
- 51:23And it's been cooking and we had a nice long
- 51:26talk for an hour yesterday or day before yesterday.
- 51:28And I think I know where we're heading. And I
- 51:31don't want to say it yet, but it's going to be
- 51:33pretty interesting. It's going to be multiple
- 51:34books simultaneously. Absolutely. Wonderful.
- 51:37I'm looking forward to it. You know, not a chapter.
- 51:40You've never seen a study like this. It's multiple
- 51:42books happening simultaneously and explaining
- 51:45a pattern that we're beginning to see. Perfect.
- 51:49So God bless all of you. Thank you for listening
- 51:51Elaine. Yeah reading so much. Sorry. I told you
- 51:54I wasn't gonna read but I know I'm not sorry
- 51:56I love God's Word and I just want you to hear
- 51:58it and so exactly I mean the thing is what I
- 52:00mean is if you weren't going to work I'm sure
- 52:02we would be stopped now. Oh, no, I would keep
- 52:04going I would think but this is but this is a
- 52:07good place to stop Absolutely, absolutely. Absolutely.
- 52:12But again, like you say the Word of God I can
- 52:13never get enough of it. It is like a you know
- 52:16food on the dregs, isn't it? Yeah, is yeah. All
- 52:21right. Well, God's blessing be upon all of you.
- 52:22Grace and peace unto you, my dear brothers and
- 52:24sisters. We love you so much. Thanks for being
- 52:26here. Please leave any questions, comments, whatever
- 52:28down there below. You know, we'll get to them.
- 52:31Yeah, I think that I had some comments from before
- 52:33that I didn't cover. And so now I'm beginning
- 52:36to think what on earth was I doing? I didn't
- 52:39actually read the comments I'm reading again.
- 52:42Can you believe it? I can't believe it. Let's
- 52:45read them. No, because I you see everybody out
- 52:46there. I don't I never know what you're writing
- 52:49is I can't get them up unless Rick reads them
- 52:51out the same time you hear them as I do. Yeah.
- 52:54So all right. Here's the here they are. You ready,
- 52:56Heather? Wow. What a great episode today. I love
- 53:00all the connections you made. It's mind blowing
- 53:01to see how everything is connected and just how
- 53:04much we need to know our Old Testament to understand
- 53:07the new. Amen. One thing I'm definitely trying
- 53:10to do now is study up on the Old Testament. I'm
- 53:12so thankful to have y 'all to study this book
- 53:15with. God bless. I love you, Heather. Um, it's
- 53:19such a sweet thing to be a part of. It is a sweet
- 53:22thing. It's beautiful. She says, I love our little
- 53:24family we have built on here. It's beautiful.
- 53:28it is lovely it is like just talking somebody's
- 53:30front room isn't it we call i call it front room
- 53:32or whatever you call it in in america i don't
- 53:34know lounge what do you call it what where you
- 53:38sit everybody sits there we call it a front room
- 53:40or a lounge what do you call it a den a den we
- 53:42just sit around yeah in the den oh okay living
- 53:45room oh yes living room yeah yeah there it is
- 53:49it is like we're just sitting there chatting
- 53:50isn't it the whole thing well i got news for
- 53:53you elaine heather and tony are coming with us
- 53:58in our vehicle to the car. Yeah, you said. But
- 54:01you'll get to talk to them for hours and hours.
- 54:04Well, that'd be great. Yeah, the trouble is I
- 54:06might tell them to be quiet. If I'm looking out
- 54:08of the view, I might have to tell her and say,
- 54:10can you keep quiet now? I'm just taking a view.
- 54:12I've never been to America before. Yeah. Listen
- 54:15to what Heather said. I loved the look on your
- 54:18face, Elaine, when you realized I'm Tony's daughter.
- 54:20Yeah. LOL. Rick happy early birthday. Thank you.
- 54:23We're post that now also just wanted to share
- 54:25that today is actually my 30th birthday That
- 54:28was on the day that she read this So waking up
- 54:32these comments, have you yeah? Yeah, are you
- 54:38sure yeah, I Don't think so maybe I already sent
- 54:43them to you and you read them Hmm carry on them.
- 54:47Yeah. Yeah. I didn't read them out loud If I
- 54:50did I'll go back and like whatever I love reading
- 54:52your comments anyway The 30th birthday so waking
- 54:56up to this was just what I wanted to do and hearing
- 54:59Elaine sing so beautifully Happy birthday to
- 55:01you. I just pretended like it was for me, too.
- 55:03Haha Lastly Tuesday's have become very busy for
- 55:06me So if I don't get to make a comment in time
- 55:08know that I am here listening Well, just so you
- 55:10know I waited to the end of this study to do
- 55:12comments because I completely forgot sorry about
- 55:14that guys and Happy belated birthday Heather
- 55:18Tony Driver. Wow! Awesome study today, Rick and
- 55:22Elaine. This one really felt like the book of
- 55:24Job. opened up into something bigger than one
- 55:26man's suffering. The connection to Israel's story,
- 55:30exile, restoration, Elijah, John the Baptist,
- 55:32and Christ were powerful. What stood out to me
- 55:35most is how God keeps stripping away human pride
- 55:38and outward wisdom so he can bring his people
- 55:40to himself by grace. Elihu's sudden appearance
- 55:44really does feel like a turning point, almost
- 55:46like the path is being prepared for the whirlwind.
- 55:49Amen. Elaine, you do sing beautifully, and yes,
- 55:52Heather and Cameron the second are my children.
- 55:55We have a great time discussing the Bible together.
- 55:57You'll get to know them in August and I can't
- 55:59wait to meet you myself. Rick, happy early birthday.
- 56:02Can't wait for next week's study. You guys are
- 56:04great. Bless. Thank you. I had sent you those
- 56:08comments and you responded to me. Oh my, how
- 56:12wonderful to have such amazing. And I posted
- 56:14them on Patreon for them to read. There you go.
- 56:16That's why you're thinking about it. All right.
- 56:18So here's one from Alan Thompson. Hey, Alan.
- 56:24Bible study gold. Great episode, my rock star
- 56:27family. For some reason, I feel like this episode
- 56:30brought me much closer to the two of you that
- 56:32I haven't experienced before. So you got to say
- 56:36something Elaine. Love y 'all. We're so close
- 56:44to y 'all. You got to speak Elaine. I look like
- 56:48Dame Edna Average. Oh, next time add a duet to
- 56:55the close up shots because now I know both of
- 56:58you have great singing voices. Wow. Um, you've
- 57:01sang on here and I've sang at his church before.
- 57:03Love you both and greatly appreciate your work
- 57:05and insightfulness. Thank you. That's lovely.
- 57:08Thank you, Alan. Thank you everyone. Thank you.
- 57:11It's so lovely. I got one more. I got them. Let's
- 57:18try to harmonize. We sound like some sort of,
- 57:23some sort of monastery back there in sort of
- 57:26like the 14th century in France. All right, hello
- 57:34family, another great time in the word with the
- 57:37word, capital W. Elaine, what a beautiful voice
- 57:40you have, absolutely lovely. I love learning
- 57:44connections all over scripture and this study
- 57:46did not disappoint. You asked me for my favorite
- 57:48verse and it is Zephaniah 3 17. Your God is in
- 57:53your midst, a mighty one who will save. He will
- 57:56be joyful over you with gladness. He will be
- 57:58quiet in his love. He will rejoice over you with
- 58:02joyful singing. Isn't that beautiful? She said.
- 58:05That is beautiful. He's mighty to save, mighty
- 58:08to save. Amen. Isn't that wonderful to know that
- 58:11Yahweh sings over his children? This makes me
- 58:15cry every time I read it. I have verses two that
- 58:20make me cry. Like it's suddenly like it hits
- 58:22me. Yes. Yeah, deep in there. Yeah. I think about
- 58:28whenever, whenever Peter says, That he's about
- 58:31to depart his earthly tent. And it reminds me
- 58:34of whenever Jesus is walking with them on the
- 58:36beach and he says, there's going to come a day
- 58:37whenever you're going to go where you don't want
- 58:39to go. I know. You know, and he was talking about
- 58:41his death. And then Peter later on is like, you
- 58:43know, this earthly tabernacle, it's temporary.
- 58:46And I'm about to depart. Right. Before I do,
- 58:47I want to tell you this. That always gets me.
- 58:50I know. I feel like Peter because I've got a
- 58:52big mouth and I do stupid stuff all the time.
- 58:55I'm a burro at heart. That's what I am. Uh, well,
- 58:58I think the thing is, it's just honesty and sometimes
- 59:00it comes out sort of in a way that maybe you
- 59:02didn't want it to, but it's, it's not done to
- 59:05her. That's the thing. So my, I'm writing a book
- 59:08about my experience with the bursary podcast
