- 0:00Speaker 1: Happy Halloween Eve everyone. I'm Andrea and I'm Haley, and
- 0:05Speaker 1: you're listening to Inhuman, a true crime.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Podcast, a bonus episode.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Yes, yes, so today is October thirtieth. Well technically it's
- 0:17Speaker 1: a day before, but when you're listening to it, it'll
- 0:19Speaker 1: be October thirtieth, twenty twenty one. Like Hayley said, this
- 0:24Speaker 1: is a bonus spooky season Halloween episode. I'm going to
- 0:29Speaker 1: be bringing you guys some spooky content, a story that
- 0:34Speaker 1: is probably true but maybe not.
- 0:39Speaker 3: We'll just go with it though.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Well, I feel like anytime you do any type of
- 0:43Speaker 2: like ghost spirit, spooky, like you know, yeah, you can't
- 0:48Speaker 2: ever say things are like one hundred percent right exactly.
- 0:52Speaker 1: But it is a really spooky story and it's very
- 0:56Speaker 1: interesting and I'm sure a lot of you know it
- 0:59Speaker 1: because it is really to some pretty popular movies, like
- 1:02Speaker 1: Hollywood movies.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I'm excited because I don't watch scary movies, so I
- 1:07Speaker 2: don't know anything about it.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Oh true, I'm really excited. Yeah, that's true. So it'll
- 1:13Speaker 3: be like a whole new experience for Haley.
- 1:16Speaker 2: It will be.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:17Speaker 1: So before we get started, though, I just wanted to
- 1:19Speaker 1: like really quick touch base on the Daniel Robinson case.
- 1:23Speaker 1: If you'll recall, I think it was back at the
- 1:26Speaker 1: what end of September we did the four missing people. Yeah, Unfortunately,
- 1:32Speaker 1: one of those persons was recently found, Lauren Cho. They
- 1:36Speaker 1: did find her remains, but they are still desperately searching
- 1:40Speaker 1: for Daniel Robinson. His father is out in Arizona still
- 1:45Speaker 1: and they will be having a search party, a volunteer
- 1:49Speaker 1: search party today. So if you are in the Arizona
- 1:54Speaker 1: specifically like the Buckeye Phoenix area, and you can volunteer
- 1:59Speaker 1: to help this family search for their son and their brother,
- 2:02Speaker 1: please reach out to the family. You can contact them
- 2:07Speaker 1: on Please Help Find Daniel Robinson on Instagram, and they
- 2:10Speaker 1: have a website.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I think the instagram is just please help Find Daniel.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Okay, So please help find Daniel on Yeah, we'll link
- 2:21Speaker 1: it in the show notes. And they also have a
- 2:23Speaker 1: website that you can contact his father.
- 2:26Speaker 2: And I'm looking up.
- 2:28Speaker 3: The website right now, Okay.
- 2:29Speaker 2: So they have two websites. One is www dot Please
- 2:33Speaker 2: Help Find Daniel dot com, and then the other one
- 2:36Speaker 2: is search for Daniel dot com.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Okay, and we'll have those.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Yeah. I think the search one is where they're updating
- 2:44Speaker 2: on like where they're searching, because they're searching literally every Saturday. Yeah,
- 2:49Speaker 2: and then the other one is just info on the case.
- 2:52Speaker 2: And if you haven't heard any of the info, you
- 2:54Speaker 2: can listen to that first episode we did or just
- 2:57Speaker 2: go to that. Please help find Daniel Instagram because his
- 3:00Speaker 2: dad is always updating and has shared the whole story.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Right anything, and I've been periodically trying to share stuff
- 3:05Speaker 1: on our Instagram. Obviously there hasn't been a ton of updates,
- 3:09Speaker 1: but I don't want him to get lost in the bustle.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Of everything else going on.
- 3:15Speaker 1: So he's been missing since June twenty third, and there's
- 3:20Speaker 1: just been no sign of him.
- 3:21Speaker 3: So if you can help, please help.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yeah. Also, really quick, before we get into the episode,
- 3:26Speaker 2: I wanted to just quickly give a shout out to Heather.
- 3:30Speaker 2: She is the one who suggested covering the Wailey house,
- 3:33Speaker 2: and in Thursday's episode when I covered that, I said
- 3:36Speaker 2: that I would shout out whoever suggested it if I
- 3:39Speaker 2: figured out who it was, So I did so shout
- 3:41Speaker 2: out to you, Heather, because that was really fun and
- 3:44Speaker 2: we really appreciate case suggestions. And just as a reminder
- 3:48Speaker 2: because we do keep getting some to our Instagram dms,
- 3:50Speaker 2: but it's really hard for us to keep track of those,
- 3:53Speaker 2: So if you guys do have case suggestions, please email
- 3:56Speaker 2: them to us at Inhuman Monster Pod at gmail dot
- 4:01Speaker 2: because that's just the easiest way for both of us
- 4:03Speaker 2: to see them.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Yes, and if you are on our Instagram, if you
- 4:06Speaker 1: just go to our link tree, which is linked in
- 4:08Speaker 1: our bio.
- 4:10Speaker 3: It's at the top.
- 4:11Speaker 1: It's a little email slash envelope symbol, so just click
- 4:18Speaker 1: that and it'll pop everything up. So you don't even
- 4:20Speaker 1: have to do anything except for typing the subject line
- 4:25Speaker 1: taste recommendation or if you have a listener uh tale
- 4:30Speaker 1: story we're still trying to decide what to call that,
- 4:33Speaker 1: you can put that in the subject line as well.
- 4:35Speaker 1: So yeah, shout out to Heather PMP and thank you
- 4:38Speaker 1: for that. Yeah, because that was a fun so much
- 4:41Speaker 1: spooky story.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yeah it was. And also, okay, two more things real quick.
- 4:47Speaker 2: I'm baffled by how many people have commented about that
- 4:50Speaker 2: they've been to the Whaley House and have like confirmed
- 4:53Speaker 2: some of the stories that I shared about.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I read that I read something like smelling cigar smoke
- 4:58Speaker 1: and like that's s say.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Yeah, like awesome and like seeing people.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's so cool.
- 5:04Speaker 2: So so that's one thing and then one other thing.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I'm sorry if my voice sounds off. I went to
- 5:11Speaker 2: a Jonas Brothers concert two days ago, and it's a
- 5:14Speaker 2: little bit better now, but it's a little raspy still
- 5:17Speaker 2: because I was screaming a lot because I love the
- 5:19Speaker 2: Jonas Brothers so much. But anyway, I just wanted to
- 5:22Speaker 2: say that in case anyone's like, are you sick? No,
- 5:24Speaker 2: I just screamed a lot for men that don't know exist. Yeah,
- 5:28Speaker 2: although Joe Jonas does kind of know I he does.
- 5:30Speaker 1: He does, so I thought about calling this the Bonus
- 5:33Speaker 1: Jonas episode just because of that. But that'd be awesome
- 5:37Speaker 1: if I ever not, if I ever, when I come
- 5:40Speaker 1: out to visit you in California, maybe we can go.
- 5:43Speaker 3: To the Whaley House. That would be so fun, and
- 5:45Speaker 3: I could like protect you so you're not scared.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll literally be like grabbing onto your arm the
- 5:51Speaker 2: whole time. That'd be so fun. We should do that.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Since you can't come to my bachelorette, we should plan
- 5:55Speaker 2: a trip once the twins are old enough for you
- 5:57Speaker 2: to leave them and you can come hang out with me,
- 5:59Speaker 2: and we'll go to San Diego and go to the
- 6:01Speaker 2: Walley House.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Yes, and then go to Disneyland.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Okay, of course.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Okay, So without further ado, let's go ahead and jump
- 6:12Speaker 1: into today's story. So I am going to be covering
- 6:15Speaker 1: the paren family haunting. So if you have heard of this.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Family and know their experience, we'll kind of touch on
- 6:25Speaker 3: that a little bit later.
- 6:26Speaker 1: But in January of nineteen seventy one, Carolyn and Roger
- 6:31Speaker 1: Parrien and their five daughters moved into an eighteenth century
- 6:35Speaker 1: fourteen room farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island. The two hundred
- 6:41Speaker 1: acre property offered plenty of space for them to raise
- 6:45Speaker 1: their girls, Andrea, Nancy, Christine, Cynthia, and April, which is like, wow,
- 6:51Speaker 1: that's a lot of girls.
- 6:53Speaker 2: That is a lot of girls. I like their names though.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Yeah, very like on point for that time, I feel like, yeah.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Soon after they moved into the home, they started noticing
- 7:03Speaker 1: peculiar things happening. Oh no, yeah, At first it was small,
- 7:08Speaker 1: harmless mishaps. According to Carolyn the mother, the broom would
- 7:13Speaker 1: go missing or would just somehow find its way from
- 7:17Speaker 1: one place to another, no one ever owning up to
- 7:20Speaker 1: what like how it got there.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:23Speaker 1: She would also hear scraping sounds against her kitchen kettle,
- 7:27Speaker 1: but no one would be in the kitchen.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Oh, that's creepy and very specific too. I feel like
- 7:33Speaker 2: somebody must have wanted like tea.
- 7:34Speaker 3: That's what I was thinking.
- 7:36Speaker 1: She also allegedly would find small piles of dirt in
- 7:39Speaker 1: the middle of her newly clean kitchen floor. So somebody
- 7:44Speaker 1: was like out to get her.
- 7:46Speaker 3: They're like taking her broom and then sweeping to her.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Right, it sounds like a kid just trying to like
- 7:51Speaker 2: fuck around with her.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it does, and that's what like in the beginning,
- 7:54Speaker 1: it seemed like very harmless and just like you know,
- 7:56Speaker 1: like messing around kind of thing.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Her dog also began to see and.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Hear spirits in the house, though they seemed innoculous at
- 8:06Speaker 1: innoculus innocuous At that point in time. Andrea, who was
- 8:11Speaker 1: the oldest sister, would often get questions from her younger sisters,
- 8:15Speaker 1: asking what's going on and why is this happening, but
- 8:19Speaker 1: she wasn't too sure.
- 8:20Speaker 3: How to respond to them, which I get Yeah.
- 8:23Speaker 1: About six months after they had moved in, the girls
- 8:26Speaker 1: finally decided to share with their mother what they had
- 8:29Speaker 1: been witnessing, and their mother reluctantly shared some of her
- 8:33Speaker 1: own experiences as well. It was around this time that
- 8:37Speaker 1: they began to realize some of the spirits seemed to
- 8:40Speaker 1: be angry and maybe not as belevolent as they once
- 8:44Speaker 1: had thought. Okay, So at this time, Carolyn decided to
- 8:47Speaker 1: do some research on the property, which, like, good for you, girl,
- 8:50Speaker 1: because I feel like most people don't think to do that.
- 8:54Speaker 2: That's really smart. I would have never thought.
- 8:56Speaker 1: To you that, because then you can kind of like
- 8:58Speaker 1: know what you're dealing with, you know, like nothing, or
- 9:01Speaker 1: if it's something pretty serious.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Like if you need to sage the house, yeah, they
- 9:05Speaker 2: call an exercise.
- 9:08Speaker 1: So she did the research on the property and the
- 9:11Speaker 1: home to see if she could uncover any answers as
- 9:13Speaker 1: to why this was happening to her and her family,
- 9:16Speaker 1: and what she discovered was truly horrifying.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 9:20Speaker 1: First, the home had been in the same family for
- 9:24Speaker 1: eight generations and many of those family members had died
- 9:30Speaker 1: under mysterious or horrible circumstances on the property.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Oh god.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Yeah, and which is kind of reminded me of your
- 9:38Speaker 1: story a little bit. Yeah, because of like the mysterious,
- 9:41Speaker 1: like does and stuff right, and I will just give
- 9:44Speaker 1: a little trigger here there is mention of suicide. But
- 9:48Speaker 1: according to the Black Book of Burrowville, I guess that's
- 9:54Speaker 1: how you say that Burroville Beryville. I don't know the
- 9:58Speaker 1: town's former public records book. Over the course of its existence,
- 10:03Speaker 1: the property had been host to two suicides by hanging,
- 10:08Speaker 1: one suicide by poison, the rape and murder of I
- 10:13Speaker 1: guess I should have gave a trigger for that too, Sorry, guys,
- 10:16Speaker 1: the rape and murder of eleven year old Prudence Arnold
- 10:20Speaker 1: by a farm hand, two drownings, and the passing of
- 10:24Speaker 1: four men who froze to death, in addition to other
- 10:28Speaker 1: tragic losses of life.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Freezing to death sounds like not very.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Fun, horrific, like the worst of the.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Worst, Like I hate being cold, Like I'm the type
- 10:39Speaker 2: of person who literally will have my little personal heater
- 10:42Speaker 2: on my feet while I work during the day, even
- 10:44Speaker 2: if it's like in the seventies outside. So like freezing
- 10:48Speaker 2: to death like okay, new fear unlocked.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a that's one of mine too.
- 10:54Speaker 1: But burning to death or like drowning, I think kind
- 10:57Speaker 1: of are are a little bit over that, but freezing
- 11:00Speaker 1: to death sounds just horrific now and cold. There were
- 11:05Speaker 1: also rumors that a witch by the name of Bathsheba
- 11:10Speaker 1: Sherman lived on the neighboring farm. So some sources said
- 11:14Speaker 1: that she lived at their farm at one point in time,
- 11:18Speaker 1: But then there was other sources that said she lived
- 11:22Speaker 1: on a neighboring farm. So the family that lived there
- 11:26Speaker 1: prior was their last name was Arnold, and then her
- 11:29Speaker 1: last name was there and then she got married and.
- 11:32Speaker 3: It was Sherman.
- 11:33Speaker 1: So I'm going to assume that she lived on a
- 11:34Speaker 1: neighboring farm, but it was just like in close proximity. Okay,
- 11:38Speaker 1: that makes sense, or maybe even at one point in
- 11:40Speaker 1: time it was like on that two hundred acre property.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I'm not really sure, but there are rumors that this
- 11:45Speaker 1: woman who was known to be a witch lived on
- 11:48Speaker 1: the property or nearby property and could be one of
- 11:51Speaker 1: the spirits haunting the pair and home. But Sheba allegedly
- 11:55Speaker 1: had four children, three of which passed away. She was
- 11:59Speaker 1: also rumored to have been a Satanist and had been
- 12:03Speaker 1: involved in sacrificing an infant to Satan by stabbing it
- 12:07Speaker 1: in the back of the neck with a knitting needle. Yeah,
- 12:11Speaker 1: though the evidence at trial could not be held up
- 12:14Speaker 1: and so she was never charged. Okay, Yeah, but the
- 12:20Speaker 1: townspeople were not so convinced that she was innocent, and
- 12:23Speaker 1: they definitely considered her a witch and tried to stay
- 12:27Speaker 1: far away from her good Despite rumors, Bothsheba reportedly died
- 12:32Speaker 1: as an old woman on May twenty fifth, eighteen eighty five,
- 12:36Speaker 1: roughly four years after her husband, Judson Sherman's.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Death in eighteen eighty one.
- 12:41Speaker 1: She was buried in a historic Baptist cemetery in downtown Harrisville,
- 12:47Speaker 1: not too far from the pair and home. Local lore
- 12:50Speaker 1: believed that Bsheba had made a pact with the devil
- 12:54Speaker 1: in which she granted youthful in which she was granted
- 12:58Speaker 1: youthful beauty, but at a high cost. She was turned
- 13:02Speaker 1: into stone. Upon her death as a ghost, she was
- 13:07Speaker 1: condemned to torture people, possibly out of jealousy for beauty that.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Can never again be hers.
- 13:13Speaker 1: And since Carolyne the Mother was considered a beautiful woman
- 13:17Speaker 1: by all accounts, they believed that Bathsheba must have been
- 13:20Speaker 1: jealous of her and that's why she was targeted. Jeeves
- 13:24Speaker 1: Carolyn recalls shortly after moving in, being visited by a
- 13:27Speaker 1: woman in gray thought to be Bathsheba, whose head was
- 13:31Speaker 1: hanging at her side. The woman told her to leave
- 13:34Speaker 1: or she would be driven out with doom and gloom.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Oh my ok, bump bump bum yeah.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Carolyn also had received a mysterious stab wound in her
- 13:47Speaker 1: leg that seemed to be similar to the one that
- 13:49Speaker 1: killed the infant that I mentioned before. She claimed that
- 13:53Speaker 1: Bathsheba tormented her emotionally and physically, as if the ghost
- 13:57Speaker 1: was actually possessing her God. She claimed that Basheba was
- 14:01Speaker 1: constantly hiding things from her, making her feel.
- 14:04Speaker 3: As if she was going insane. That is terrifying.
- 14:09Speaker 1: That just like gives me the like major he Begbi's roger,
- 14:14Speaker 1: which is her husband, the father of the five girls,
- 14:18Speaker 1: on the other hand, only saw Bsheba's sweeter side with
- 14:22Speaker 1: loving caresses and innuendos okay, which is kind of on
- 14:27Speaker 1: par for you know that kind of era, for like
- 14:31Speaker 1: how witches were considered. The parent family believed that Basheba
- 14:35Speaker 1: was one of the malevolent spirits that haunted.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Them in their home.
- 14:39Speaker 1: However, there were other spirits that lurked around as well.
- 14:43Speaker 3: The family would.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Often experience the smell of rotting flesh, and they would
- 14:48Speaker 1: see the beds rising up.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Off the floor.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Oh my god, yes, there's even when I was doing
- 14:55Speaker 1: my research there, I came across a picture. Now, of
- 14:58Speaker 1: course it very well could have been stay, but where
- 15:01Speaker 1: they were experiencing the beds I guess, like shaking and
- 15:05Speaker 1: kind of rising, and one of the girls was being
- 15:09Speaker 1: like flung off the bed and it was like a
- 15:11Speaker 1: picture of her like mid air, like screaming, and all
- 15:13Speaker 1: the other girls were like terrified.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Oh my god, like, ah, yeah, it was really freaking
- 15:19Speaker 3: and it.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Was all old and you know, nope, nope, nope, nope.
- 15:25Speaker 1: When Roger would enter the basement, he'd often feel a cold,
- 15:29Speaker 1: stinking presence behind him. The family would try their best
- 15:33Speaker 1: to stay away from the dirt floor cellar, which is
- 15:36Speaker 1: where a lot of the like malevolent activity seemed to
- 15:41Speaker 1: kind of derive from, but the heating equipment down there
- 15:44Speaker 1: was would often fail mysteriously and Roger would have to
- 15:48Speaker 1: venture down to check things out and try to fix it.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Oh geez.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Now we enter into the story Ed and ther Rain Warren, which.
- 15:58Speaker 3: If you like spooky stuff like me, know who.
- 16:00Speaker 1: These people are, but you also may recognize their names
- 16:04Speaker 1: from some of your favorite favorite scary movies like Annabelle
- 16:08Speaker 1: and The Conjuring, which this story that I'm telling now
- 16:13Speaker 1: is supposed to be the inspiration for The Conjuring.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Nope, nope, I have not seen any of that and
- 16:19Speaker 2: I will never, which is why I'm excited you're telling
- 16:22Speaker 2: the story.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Let me tell you, Okay, I used to love scary movies,
- 16:26Speaker 1: and for a very long time, scary movies have just
- 16:29Speaker 1: been garbage in my opinion. But these movies were actually
- 16:34Speaker 1: pretty good and they actually scared the shit out of me.
- 16:37Speaker 1: So yeah, I think it tells you anything. I just
- 16:40Speaker 1: especially the Annabelle movie.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Oh no, the only one I watched. I watched the
- 16:44Speaker 2: Orphan or Orphan.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I don't like that much.
- 16:48Speaker 2: My friends made me. I think I've told this story
- 16:50Speaker 2: on the podcast before, but my friends made me watch
- 16:52Speaker 2: it in college and I was literally like terrified and
- 16:55Speaker 2: it still scares me, so like, Nope, that's like the
- 16:57Speaker 2: scariest one I've ever watched.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Yeah, well, so there's a scene in I think it's Annabelle.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure the and the doll from that movie
- 17:06Speaker 1: is real, but it's like a totally different looking doll.
- 17:09Speaker 1: It's like a raggedy or not like a raggedy an doll.
- 17:11Speaker 2: What is it?
- 17:11Speaker 3: Maybe it is a raggedy handle.
- 17:13Speaker 1: But they have in their basement or like some room
- 17:16Speaker 1: in their house, like and this is real, they have
- 17:18Speaker 1: where they have taken items that are said to be
- 17:22Speaker 1: possessed and then they lock them in these like glass
- 17:25Speaker 1: spots in my god, so they can't like escape, right,
- 17:30Speaker 1: scared these shit out of me that doll.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Being in there.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Who no, thanks, uh uh. I would not have that
- 17:36Speaker 3: shit in my house, like.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Insane on And that's why we drank The podcast that
- 17:41Speaker 2: I mentioned last episode, they covered a couple of spooky
- 17:45Speaker 2: dolls or like possessed dolls, and I'm not going to
- 17:47Speaker 2: say their names because they literally had listeners like after
- 17:51Speaker 2: they heard the stories we're having like all these issues
- 17:53Speaker 2: in their lives. Oh yeah, and then they had to like,
- 17:57Speaker 2: you know, talk to the doll and be like, hey,
- 17:59Speaker 2: like leave me alone now.
- 18:02Speaker 1: If you just say the doll's name, it like can
- 18:04Speaker 1: find you. Yeah, I've heard that before.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Oh that really freaks me out.
- 18:08Speaker 2: That's like one thing I will not be looking into
- 18:10Speaker 2: or telling because that's just too freaky for me.
- 18:12Speaker 3: That's too much.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's how I felt when I was researching
- 18:15Speaker 1: this case because the shiba is like in other I'm
- 18:19Speaker 1: pretty sure and like some other stories that I've like
- 18:23Speaker 1: read or heard, is a demon. And I was like,
- 18:26Speaker 1: I don't even want to type this on my computer.
- 18:30Speaker 1: I don't want to search it on my phone, like
- 18:32Speaker 1: I don't know if it's the same thing, but I'm
- 18:34Speaker 1: pretty sure. Like yeah, I was like, oh, I don't
- 18:37Speaker 1: want this. Nope, Okay, back to the story. So Ed
- 18:43Speaker 1: and Lorraine Warren they are real people. They are known
- 18:47Speaker 1: to be paranormal investigators, and Lorraine was a self self
- 18:53Speaker 1: proclaimed clairvoyant.
- 18:55Speaker 2: I've heard of them, I think Gondi and that's why
- 18:57Speaker 2: we drink like different, doing different like parent normal investigation.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Yeah, they've done a ton in their time.
- 19:02Speaker 1: The Warrens were in Connecticut, which is really close by
- 19:07Speaker 1: I guess to Rhode Island.
- 19:08Speaker 3: I think it's like above it or something.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I don't know, I'm bad with geography, but I know
- 19:11Speaker 1: they're kind of close to each other. They had been
- 19:13Speaker 1: working on other cases of paranormal activity. A family friend
- 19:17Speaker 1: by the name of Barbara went to see them because
- 19:20Speaker 1: they did investigations all around the area. As soon as
- 19:24Speaker 1: the Warrens heard what was going on with the parent family,
- 19:27Speaker 1: they immediately decided that they were going to investigate.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Oh wow, so these people who had seen shit were like.
- 19:33Speaker 3: We're going yeah.
- 19:35Speaker 1: So first, Carolyn shared with Ed and Lorraine the incident
- 19:40Speaker 1: where she had been laying on the sofa and suddenly
- 19:43Speaker 1: felt a piercing, tight pain in her calf and then
- 19:46Speaker 1: the muscle began to spasm.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Upon examination, she.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Noticed a puddle of blood at the point of impact.
- 19:53Speaker 1: She checked for bees or anything else that could have
- 19:56Speaker 1: caused the puncture in her leg, but found nothing.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 20:00Speaker 1: When Ed and Lorraine heard this story in conjunction with
- 20:04Speaker 1: the tale of Besheba Sherman aka the witch who had
- 20:09Speaker 1: been suspected of killing the infant with a knitting needle,
- 20:12Speaker 1: Lorraine suggested that Bsheba could have taken the needle with
- 20:16Speaker 1: her to the afterlife and used it to stab Carolyn
- 20:20Speaker 1: in the calf in a fit of jealous rage.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Oh yikes, that's not good. No.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Over the ten years that the family lived in the house, yes,
- 20:29Speaker 1: ten years.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Why wouldn't you just get the hell out of there.
- 20:34Speaker 3: We'll get to that.
- 20:35Speaker 1: But the Warrens made multiple trips to investigate their home.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Wow.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Lorraine even at one point conducted a seance in an
- 20:46Speaker 1: attempt to contact the spirits that were tormenting the family.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Which no, thank you at all. No, people, stay away.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Don't do seances because you're inviting in like, not just
- 20:59Speaker 1: the good, you're inviting in the bad, you know, the wicked.
- 21:02Speaker 3: The evil. Just leave.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Just let the ghost have the house and they can
- 21:07Speaker 2: stay there and you can find a different house. It's fine.
- 21:10Speaker 1: During the seance, it's reported that Carolyn became possessed that
- 21:14Speaker 1: she was speaking in tongues and rising from the ground
- 21:19Speaker 1: in her chair.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Oh no, no, no, no, no no no.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Which I think there's a scene in the Conjuring that
- 21:25Speaker 1: relates to this.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Whoa that relates to this event. I'm pretty sure.
- 21:33Speaker 1: After the seance, Roger kicked the Warrens out, worried about
- 21:36Speaker 1: his wife's mental stability. The daughters all claimed that at
- 21:40Speaker 1: first Roger was actually not on board and completely unhappy
- 21:44Speaker 1: about somebody else being brought into the situation, hence why
- 21:48Speaker 1: he himself didn't reach out for help for their family.
- 21:52Speaker 1: And there was also like some reports that like in
- 21:55Speaker 1: the beginning, he didn't even believe Carolyn and the girls
- 21:58Speaker 1: that this stuff was happening. Oh wow, because I guess
- 22:00Speaker 1: he wasn't really witnessing much then, all right. Carolyn also
- 22:04Speaker 1: never reached out herself in fear of being rejected or
- 22:07Speaker 1: not believed, which.
- 22:09Speaker 3: I mean, I guess I kind of get.
- 22:10Speaker 2: But yeah, I understand that, especially in that time, Like
- 22:13Speaker 2: I feel like anything could like tarnish your reputation.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Despite all the efforts made by the Warrens, it did
- 22:19Speaker 1: not seem to alleviate the paranormal.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Activity at their house.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Wow.
- 22:25Speaker 1: According to the oldest daughter, Andrea, the family continued to
- 22:28Speaker 1: live in the house due to financial instability.
- 22:32Speaker 3: Okay, I mean, I guess that makes sense.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Carolyn and Roger had poured all of their life savings
- 22:38Speaker 1: into the house during the nineteen seventies, and no one
- 22:41Speaker 1: had the money to buy the two hundred acre farm.
- 22:44Speaker 3: It was literally losing value day by day.
- 22:47Speaker 1: The economy had tanked due to felled policies and crisis
- 22:51Speaker 1: in the Middle East, so the family was forced to
- 22:54Speaker 1: remain in the haunted house for nearly a decade until
- 22:57Speaker 1: they were finally able to move in nineteen eighty at
- 23:01Speaker 1: whnch point the hauntings ceased. Wow, Okay, the family moved
- 23:06Speaker 1: to Georgia to rebuild their lives and they never looked back.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Good, so I did.
- 23:12Speaker 1: There was like reports from people who had lived in
- 23:16Speaker 1: the house after the parent family had moved out, who
- 23:20Speaker 1: said they didn't really experience the things that this family
- 23:24Speaker 1: said that they experience. But then I also read some
- 23:27Speaker 1: reports where like people would move in the house and
- 23:31Speaker 1: then immediately move out due to like what they were experiencing.
- 23:36Speaker 1: So there was a lot of like differing information, which
- 23:39Speaker 1: is you know, again it depends on like the source
- 23:41Speaker 1: and who's telling the retelling of.
- 23:44Speaker 3: The events that happened. But right.
- 23:47Speaker 1: And there was also reports that the family, the parent family,
- 23:50Speaker 1: even though they no longer live on the property, are
- 23:53Speaker 1: still being harassed by Bisheba oh wow, and that they
- 23:57Speaker 1: believe that like she is like haunting them now as
- 24:01Speaker 1: opposed to haunting the property. Okay, yeah, and that's from
- 24:06Speaker 1: the from their you know, retelling of things that happened
- 24:10Speaker 1: after the fact, so right, But that is my retelling
- 24:16Speaker 1: of the events that happen at the parent family home
- 24:21Speaker 1: in the nineteen seventies. And it's pretty spooky. If you
- 24:25Speaker 1: haven't seen The Conjuring, go check it out. It's it's
- 24:29Speaker 1: a pretty spooky movie if you like haunted scary movies.
- 24:33Speaker 1: If you don't, don't do it because you won't have
- 24:35Speaker 1: a good time.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Nope.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Yeah, but yep, that's it. That's all I got for
- 24:39Speaker 3: you guys today. I hope you liked that. I hope
- 24:42Speaker 3: you enjoyed something a little different.
- 24:44Speaker 1: We've been, you know, trying to throw some spooky stuff
- 24:47Speaker 1: in since it is spooky season.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that was really good.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 24:52Speaker 2: I feel like I got my dose of spooky without
- 24:54Speaker 2: having to watch a spy movie, So, oh, thank you.
- 24:59Speaker 1: There is a photo of it's like from the eighteen
- 25:03Speaker 1: hundreds and they say that the woman in the middle,
- 25:05Speaker 1: which I don't know how they would really know this,
- 25:07Speaker 1: but is Besheba Sherman. I'm going to post that on
- 25:10Speaker 1: our Instagram page along with some other photos from the
- 25:14Speaker 1: family and the hauntings and so on, and I'll post
