- 1:34- Welcome to the divine five one five podcast.
- 1:38- Here is today's prayer.
- 1:44- Hello, and welcome to divine five one five
- 1:47- daily prayers with Gabriela Rocha.
- 1:49- I'm your host.
- 1:51- And today we are talking about
- 1:53- if you're still carrying yesterday,
- 1:56- how prayer is gonna let you go.
- 2:00- And the scripture text comes from first Peter
- 2:02- five seven. It says, cast your anxiety on
- 2:04- him because he cares for you.
- 2:06- You know, we've been talking about how
- 2:10- distractions,
- 2:11- really get in the way of,
- 2:13- us
- 2:14- wanting to spend
- 2:16- quality time with God. I think the other
- 2:18- thing that we're really experiencing
- 2:20- in these days and times is the spirit
- 2:23- of anxiety,
- 2:24- just being so emotionally and spiritually
- 2:27- overwhelmed where we're feeling like we're spiritually hydroplaning,
- 2:30- if you will.
- 2:31- Many of us start each morning carrying yesterday's
- 2:34- disappointments in today,
- 2:36- and,
- 2:37- we replay some of the things that we
- 2:39- have no control over, like the conversation we
- 2:41- wish we had,
- 2:43- gone differently.
- 2:44- Or maybe it's a mistake that we made,
- 2:47- and we we didn't give ourself grace, so
- 2:49- we keep replaying that.
- 2:51- Maybe it's the burden we thought would be
- 2:53- gone by now.
- 2:55- And instead of beginning each day with fresh
- 2:57- hope, we begin already emotionally
- 3:00- exhausted.
- 3:01- And the wait isn't always in our circumstance.
- 3:04- Sometimes
- 3:05- it's in what we
- 3:07- refuse to release.
- 3:09- And
- 3:10- there, I wanna say that, you know,
- 3:13- because we're creatures of habit, sometimes
- 3:16- change can be really, really difficult for us.
- 3:19- And if we get in those negative patterns,
- 3:22- those,
- 3:23- unhealthy patterns, wherever they they could be, right,
- 3:27- sometimes we'll hold on to those patterns.
- 3:30- Why? Because not necessarily because they're comforting to
- 3:33- us, but,
- 3:34- but because they're familiar to us. And we
- 3:36- are familiar with that. We're familiar with that
- 3:39- pain. We're familiar with the outcome. So
- 3:42- we know what to expect if we keep
- 3:44- this pattern up. Right?
- 3:46- And changing
- 3:47- the pattern or doing something to,
- 3:51- reverse the pattern or bring change can be
- 3:53- very, very terrifying.
- 3:55- So we often believe that if we keep
- 3:56- thinking about the problem long enough, we'll eventually
- 3:59- solve it.
- 4:01- But instead, we become emotionally attached to the
- 4:03- burden.
- 4:04- We replay it. We'll analyze it. We carry
- 4:06- it until it begins carrying us.
- 4:09- And
- 4:10- the example that I,
- 4:12- I give is
- 4:13- if
- 4:14- you are carrying a boulder, right, that burden
- 4:17- is like a boulder. Right?
- 4:19- You're not gonna be able to carry it
- 4:20- very far. Now if you're a bodybuilder, they're
- 4:23- used to picking up everything, so they could
- 4:25- probably carry something a little bit farther than
- 4:27- the average person. But
- 4:29- normally, you're only gonna be able to take
- 4:30- a couple of steps and then you're gonna
- 4:32- need to drop that thing.
- 4:36- And likewise,
- 4:37- God's word is telling us, give me whatever
- 4:40- the burden is. I can handle it. I'll
- 4:42- help you through it. I'll give you the
- 4:44- peace. I'll give you the hope.
- 4:47- And how this works is because prayer gives
- 4:50- us permission to stop holding what God has
- 4:52- already invited us to surrender.
- 4:54- Right. He he's always about building the relationship
- 4:57- is always about the invitation.
- 4:59- Come to me. Let's talk about it. Let's
- 5:02- let's work it through together.
- 5:04- So each time we pray, we loosen our
- 5:06- grip on worry and strengthen our trust in
- 5:08- God. Why? Because we, we
- 5:11- acknowledge that I can't handle this, but your
- 5:13- word says that you can. And so I'm
- 5:16- gonna trust
- 5:17- that, you know, what's best
- 5:19- prayer doesn't erase yesterday. I'm I'm not gonna
- 5:22- tell you that it's easy. I'm not gonna
- 5:23- say that it's it's gonna just, you know,
- 5:26- magically disappear.
- 5:27- But what it does do is it will
- 5:29- keep yesterday from controlling today. Right? Because you
- 5:32- can't do anything about yesterday.
- 5:34- You can only look forward.
- 5:37- So
- 5:39- take heart. Know that God has you. Trust
- 5:42- that he has you.
- 5:44- He has never
- 5:46- he has never
- 5:47- and will never forsake you. He will not
- 5:49- abandon you.
- 5:51- Not mentally, not spiritually,
- 5:53- not emotionally.
- 5:54- There's nothing that you can do. Nothing. I
- 5:56- mean nothing. And there were some people in
- 5:59- the Bible that did some really horrendous things
- 6:01- and yet he was able to change their
- 6:03- lives and they became some of the heavy
- 6:06- hitters in the gospel.
- 6:08- And we are just modern day children of
- 6:10- Israel.
- 6:11- We're gonna make mistakes. We're gonna stumble. We're
- 6:14- gonna fall.
- 6:16- But
- 6:17- remember,
- 6:18- it's not how many times you follow.
- 6:21- It's how many times you get up.
- 6:24- So,
- 6:26- cast your cares, give it to God, and
- 6:28- let's move forward.
- 6:31- Having said that, let's go to the throne.
- 6:35- Heavenly father, today, we choose to release every
- 6:37- burden we've carried longer than you intended.
- 6:41- Teach us to trust you enough to let
- 6:44- go of what we cannot change
- 6:46- and embrace the peace you freely offer.
- 6:50- Renew our hearts, father, with fresh hope and
- 6:52- remind us that your mercies
- 6:55- are new
- 6:56- every morning.
- 6:58- Help us walk into
- 6:59- today
- 7:00- lighter because we're walking
- 7:03- and you have everything under control.
- 7:06- And we will bless you in Jesus' name.
- 7:07- Amen.
- 7:09- Every
- 7:11- surrounded burden creates more room for God's peace.
- 7:14- He welcomes the conversation,
- 7:17- allow him to come in.
- 7:19- And
- 7:20- one great way to do that is by
- 7:23- joining us in the inner chamber prayer community,
- 7:26- which can help you build a lifestyle of
- 7:28- prayer that keeps your heart anchored in Christ.
- 7:31- So until then,
- 7:33- have a wonderful day. And remember, prayer isn't
- 7:36- simply something we do. It's how we walk
- 7:38- with God every day.
