- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: Terminal illness is not normally on people's bingo cards for ice breakers.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: Now I say that, but it is a very real thing.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: We are all, yes, terminal.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: At the end of the day, if the Lord doesn't return before I draw my last breath all of us at some point in the future, we will breathe our last, we'll go into eternity.

- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: in need.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: Now, let's turn our attention to today's study.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yesterday on the broadcast, we really died into this study on three of the biggest spiritual mistakes you could ever make.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: We focused on the first mistake we were going to talk about this week, which was Ignoring God.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: We used King Asa in scripture as our example of what not to do.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: You see he spent the vast majority of his life 80, 85% of his life Trusting in God, doing what God desired from to do living in God's will
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: And then at the end of his life, he decides to stop trusting God and focus on his own ideas, focus on his own concepts or how to get a problem solved.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: Not only just with the disease he dealt with, but also with some socio-economic and some geopolitical issues he dealt with as a king.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: And friend, there is no issue, too big, or too small, that we shouldn't bring it to God.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: I love this phrase, quote, I should say, on prayer.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: Talking about ignoring God, if Jesus who was God, of course part of the Trinity, Jesus Christ robed in human flesh, if he needed, if he wanted to leave us an example of how to talk to God and when we should talk to God through prayer, if he did that, why would we take it less seriously?
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: We're not God.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: We can't do it.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: He can do who he is.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: We're not who he is.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: But SD Gordon in a book quiet talks on prayer writes this.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: How much prayer meant to Jesus?
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: It was not only his regular habit,
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: but his resort in every emergency, however slight or serious.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: When perplexed, he prayed, when pressed by work he prayed.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: When hungry for fellowship he found it in prayer, he chose his associates and received his messages upon his knees.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: If tempted, he prayed.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: If a teagued embody or wearyed in spirit, he had recourse to his one unfailing habit,
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: of prayer, prayer brought him unmeasured power at the beginning and kept the flow unbroken and undiminished.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: There was no emergency, no difficulty, no necessity, no temptation that would not yield to prayer, as he practiced it.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'd encourage you, friend, don't ignore
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: God now take your bibles and go to first King's chapter 11.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna look at this Sankant mistake you couldn't make as a child of God you could ignore God Know what a grave mistake that would be.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: Day we're gonna look at irritating God
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: 1.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: 1.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: 1.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: Just give a little context to look at one of the wisest men to ever walk the earth.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: 1.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: 1.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: But King Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moe Bites, Aminites, Edemites, Zydonians and Hittites.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: of the nations concerning which the Lord said unto the children of Israel, ye shall not go in to them, neither shall I come in unto you, for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: Solomon, claim unto these in love, and he had, you've heard this before, 700 wives, princesses and 300 concubines, and his wives turn away his heart,
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: For it came to pass when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods and his heart was not perfect with a Lord, his God sounds very similar to what the prophet said to Asa.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: His heart was not perfect with a Lord's God as was the heart of David's Father for Solomon went after Astroth, the goddess of the Zydonians and after milk come the
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: Abomination of the Ammonites and Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and went not fully after the Lord as did David his father.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: Then did Solomon build in high place for Kimosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Moab, the abomination of the children of Ammon, and likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods, and the Lord was angry with Solomon.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: Because his heart was turned from Lord God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice and had commanded him concerning this thing that he should not go after other gods, but he kept not that witch, the Lord, commanded.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: He literally angered God.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: You say, before you get too defensive of Solomon, so he was just trying to make his wives happy.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: of the women that stole his, that would steal his heart, and so he ignored that.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: But I want you to realize, for these people, these women, their gods, were just as much worshiped by them as Solomon should have been worshiping his god, and you want to realize the travesty, the difficulty for god to reconcile with this sort of perversion, you
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: was a goddess of perverted sexuality.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: Molec, Kimosh and Milcom who's worshiped often involved, child-sacrifice that I can't say for certain, whether or not Solomon did, but these were not just personal failures.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: These were direct affronts to God.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: He knew better.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: He had met with God, yet he chose to pursue idolatry worshiping God that stood for everything, Jehovah opposed.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: this brings us to a sobering question.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: Have we moved beyond ignoring God to actively irritating him?
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: Are we knowingly living in ways that this please him?
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: Now let's pause for a moment here.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: You say, oh, I'm not.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: I would never do such a thing.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: We'll pause here for just a moment.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: You realize.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: any God that replaces the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords will irritate God.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: He has given us everything.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: He is the creator of the universe.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: He is God Almighty and what do we do?
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: We don't just ignore him sometimes, but we choose to place others in a place of prominence above
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't mean just other people, maybe sometimes they're hobbies, maybe it's work, maybe it's things we're interested in, for how foolish would it be to irritate God in that way.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: I've ignored God.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure have.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: I can think of many times in my life where my personal devotions have not been as strong as they should have been.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: I can think about times when I've irritated him.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: Do I know that Solomon was participant in child sacrifice?
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: And am I saying that you today that you are a participant in this life that I know?
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying that.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: But you gotta realize it doesn't take something that heinous, that utterly foul, to irritate God, to put anything above Him, is to tell Him you are not important enough to be a priority in my life.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: I've decided to, you serve your authority and place someone or something above you.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: How foolish.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: how why is that?
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think back on so many personal mistakes I've made and as I take stock so often many of those spiritual mistakes can be boiled down into ignoring God and irritating God.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: But tomorrow on the broadcast, I'm going to bring one more thought to the forefront, we're discussing three of the potentially biggest spiritual stakes you could make.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: We've discussed ignoring God, discussed irritating God, but tomorrow I want to focus in on impeding God.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_01]: what a sad thing would be for God's people to slow down his work and we're looking at a Bible account where that happened.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to ask you to tune in tomorrow.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: Got two more days of Bible Trek echoes this
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: We get, I promised that I would share a few personal mistakes just some failures of the childhood Micah and I'll share I think I may right out of the gate tomorrow share one with you So you're not gonna want to miss that but what I say confession is good for the soul than what not well I'm gonna confess my faults before many all of you that are listening in a radio land Did you one of you though?
