- 0:06Speaker 2: You're dragging, You're not alone Toby and Tilly in the morning.
- 0:10Speaker 2: It's ninety seven point one wash Chef m Welcome now listen.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Even though you might be dragging on this Tuesday morning
- 0:16Speaker 2: for whatever reason, there's always something to feel good about
- 0:20Speaker 2: when you start a brand new day. Chili, what you
- 0:22Speaker 2: got on your mind this morning?
- 0:24Speaker 3: The countdown is officially. Oh, yes, the beach trip for Uscation.
- 0:31Speaker 3: I know our first Yeah, it's it's been a minute.
- 0:34Speaker 3: It's been a minute, but it's okay. We're very fortunate
- 0:36Speaker 3: and we're looking forward to it good and yes, and
- 0:40Speaker 3: I don't want to drink it because I'm going to
- 0:43Speaker 3: drink it. But the forecast looks pretty good for don't
- 0:45Speaker 3: jinx it for next week. Yes, that's right where we're going.
- 0:48Speaker 3: That's right.
- 0:50Speaker 4: So anyway, that's why I'm feeling good, Why we can.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Trust the forecast, we can trust it. I'm feeling good
- 0:55Speaker 2: because I ventured out alone and went to see Disclosure
- 0:58Speaker 2: Day all by myself, with just me in this role.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Later and I will tell you even though it felt
- 1:05Speaker 2: like I ran a marathon and a half parking on
- 1:08Speaker 2: the sixth floor of the garage over at rio.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Wow and whatnot? It?
- 1:14Speaker 2: You know, it was a great movie, and it was
- 1:16Speaker 2: an accomplished feeling of knowing that, you know what, even
- 1:21Speaker 2: though I have some disability things going on right now
- 1:25Speaker 2: with my left knee while it continues to heal, I
- 1:28Speaker 2: was able to pull it off. Again. There's something to
- 1:30Speaker 2: be said about independence even when you park on the
- 1:33Speaker 2: sixth floor of a parking garage.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Okay, so how would end? The movie? Was overall good gues.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I don't want to spoil it for anybody, but Steven
- 1:41Speaker 2: Spielberg is who he is for a reason. Okay, don't
- 1:45Speaker 2: believe these rotten tomatoes. I'm just telling you Steven Spielberg
- 1:49Speaker 2: and will leave it at that. All right, this is
- 1:52Speaker 2: the time for good movies anyway. Why are you feeling good?
- 1:54Speaker 2: Give us a call? You know where we are? Eight
- 1:56Speaker 2: six six nineteen seven forty three sixty one. In the meantime,
- 1:59Speaker 2: the news this is on the way top stories at
- 2:01Speaker 2: the top of the hour.
- 2:02Speaker 5: What's going on this morning?
- 2:04Speaker 3: While it Hub recently ranked the most patriotic states in
- 2:08Speaker 3: the US. Want to er where Virginia and Maryland landed.
- 2:12Speaker 3: You'll find out in a few.
- 2:16Speaker 6: Top stories Top of the Hour.
- 2:18Speaker 3: The President announced yesterday that the US and Iran have
- 2:22Speaker 3: digitally signed an agreement that opens the Straight of Hormose
- 2:25Speaker 3: and gives both countries a sixty day window negotiate a
- 2:28Speaker 3: long term nuclear deal. Now, a formal signing ceremony is
- 2:32Speaker 3: set for this Friday. Meanwhile, the President says he's going
- 2:35Speaker 3: to be turning the July fourth celebration on the National
- 2:38Speaker 3: Mall into a campaign style rally, calling it a tribute
- 2:43Speaker 3: to America. It's going to start at seven pm in
- 2:45Speaker 3: front of the Lincoln Memorial.
- 2:47Speaker 4: The move, though, is drawing.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Attention since Independence Day events are traditionally nonpartisan. The chief
- 2:53Speaker 3: engineer of the ship that caused Baltimore's Key Bridge collapse
- 2:57Speaker 3: has now been charged with failing to notify the coastcar
- 3:00Speaker 3: about hazardous conditions before the twenty twenty four disaster that
- 3:04Speaker 3: killed six workers. Now the charge may be dropped if
- 3:08Speaker 3: he complies with a deferred prosecution agreement. Emergency repairs are
- 3:13Speaker 3: underway on a deteriorating stretch of the Potomac Interceptor sewer
- 3:17Speaker 3: line near Potomac. Now, Fish'll say that a collapse there
- 3:20Speaker 3: would be far more serious than January's spill, and it
- 3:24Speaker 3: would threaten the drinking water supply for much of the
- 3:27Speaker 3: DC region. DC holds its first ever ranked choice primary today.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Polls are opening at seven this morning as voters choose
- 3:37Speaker 3: a new mayor, congressional delegate, attorney general, and council members.
- 3:41Speaker 3: And finally, wal it Hub's latest ranking of the most
- 3:44Speaker 3: patriotic States finds Virginia at number one based on thirteen
- 3:50Speaker 3: indicators across military and civic engagement. Maryland came in eighth. Meanwhile,
- 3:56Speaker 3: at the very bottom of the list, Arkansas forecast today
- 4:00Speaker 3: partly Cloudy's guys. Highs around eighty right now, fifty seven
- 4:04Speaker 3: in McLean.
- 4:05Speaker 5: And that's the news. You get your top stories.
- 4:07Speaker 2: It's the top of the hour when you get up
- 4:08Speaker 2: with ninety seven point one wash CHEFM, Toby and Chilly
- 4:11Speaker 2: in the morning and stay right there because next we
- 4:13Speaker 2: want to know how you're doing your morning mindset. We
- 4:17Speaker 2: found something that we think might give you just a
- 4:20Speaker 2: quick mental boost as you get ready to take on
- 4:22Speaker 2: a brand new day that is minutes away.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Do not move time now for your morning mindsets.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Ninety seven point one wash CHEFM or tellby in Chilly
- 4:30Speaker 2: in the morning.
- 4:31Speaker 3: This is where we pause and share a quote to
- 4:33Speaker 3: get you into a good headspace as you take on
- 4:37Speaker 3: the rest of your day.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Now, this is a great quote from Cormack McCarthy. Cormack
- 4:42Speaker 2: McCarthy says, keep a little fire burning, however small, however hidden.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Keep a little fire burning, however small, however hidden. Now,
- 4:53Speaker 2: what does Cormac McCarthy mean with that and what does
- 4:58Speaker 2: it mean to us?
- 4:59Speaker 3: Well?
- 4:59Speaker 2: I think it matters because hope does not have to
- 5:01Speaker 2: be loud. You don't have to pound your chest and
- 5:05Speaker 2: go up to the top top of Sugarloaf Mountain or whatnot,
- 5:08Speaker 2: or the Appleachian trailer and scream I have hope, because
- 5:12Speaker 2: that's just you shouting and that's gonna hurt your voice.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Hope doesn't have to be loud. So keep a little
- 5:18Speaker 2: fire burning, however small, however hidden, and trust that that
- 5:22Speaker 2: hope will be loud enough on its own. Keep that
- 5:26Speaker 2: in mind as you get into this Tuesday morning of
- 5:28Speaker 2: brand new week, and thank you for letting us be
- 5:31Speaker 2: a small part of it. At ninety seven point one,
- 5:33Speaker 2: wash FM got something to share that might motivate somebody
- 5:37Speaker 2: to have a better day. Send it our away, Toby
- 5:40Speaker 2: and Chilipage WASHFM dot com and stay right there because next, I've.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Been mean to ask you about an accessory that you've
- 5:46Speaker 3: been using recently.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Is that Amrse over there? A man purse? It looks it.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Looks Why would you call it a man purse?
- 5:54Speaker 3: Well, because it is a man purse. It looks like
- 5:56Speaker 3: a purse. But I know it's Immerse a purse. Well, anyway,
- 5:59Speaker 3: I'm curious to know what is it you keep in
- 6:02Speaker 3: there that you can't necessarily keep in your pockets like
- 6:04Speaker 3: this is we got to figure this out.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Okay, next, it's not Immerse. We're Toby and Chili in
- 6:11Speaker 2: the Morning ninety seven point one wash FM on Chili's
- 6:14Speaker 2: noticed that I've been using a certain accessory.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Yeah, well it's a cross body bag. It's a man
- 6:19Speaker 3: purse or Immerse or whatever you want to call it. Okay,
- 6:22Speaker 3: I don't care what you call it, but I've noticed
- 6:24Speaker 3: you started bringing it into the studio and it's a
- 6:26Speaker 3: designer brand. I will say, very fancy, what is it
- 6:31Speaker 3: you using that for?
- 6:32Speaker 2: Because I'm using it to like free up my hand
- 6:36Speaker 2: when I'm using the roll later or perhaps a cane
- 6:40Speaker 2: while I'm like recovering from the surgery stuff.
- 6:43Speaker 4: So what is in in that? In that?
- 6:46Speaker 3: What is what do you what do you carry in
- 6:48Speaker 3: that wallet? It's almost as big as my purse. Like
- 6:52Speaker 3: I'm impressed, Like I'm really it's it's lovely. It's lovely.
- 6:56Speaker 3: It's just but it's not a purse. It's a it's a.
- 6:59Speaker 4: It looks it's a net tru you know, like yes,
- 7:01Speaker 4: like it's.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Called a soft trunk mini that's actually its name.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yes, like a Louis Vauton little mini trunk, like a
- 7:08Speaker 3: shape of a little trunk.
- 7:09Speaker 2: I'm using it because it has some kind of like
- 7:11Speaker 2: Pride month colors on it, and that means something to me. Okay,
- 7:14Speaker 2: I also started using them when I was wearing around
- 7:17Speaker 2: that medicine ball, remember, Yeah.
- 7:19Speaker 3: So typically, like for example, I have like lip gloss
- 7:22Speaker 3: in mine, my wallet in mine, some.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Other things that I need throughout the day. What do
- 7:27Speaker 4: you besides your wallet? What do you keep it?
- 7:28Speaker 2: The car keys going there, little like air buds going
- 7:33Speaker 2: there from my phone, My phone.
- 7:34Speaker 5: Goes in there.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Yeah, and sometimes cash and you also have a backpack.
- 7:39Speaker 3: So that's what's a little confusing. You have backpack. You
- 7:43Speaker 3: have this cross body bag thingy happen. You've got a
- 7:46Speaker 3: lot of accessories on you. You carry a lot more
- 7:49Speaker 3: than the typical.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Well, I learned from the women in my life that
- 7:53Speaker 2: having the right accessories can be helpful.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Yeah, they're very helpful. They're very helpful. But you've got
- 7:58Speaker 4: multiple ones that.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Right, Well, my sling bag over there that carries the laptop, okay,
- 8:05Speaker 2: and my iPad that's more of the tech path.
- 8:07Speaker 4: Oh god, I love it.
- 8:08Speaker 5: My life bag.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Is this one that one does not come with me
- 8:11Speaker 2: to a movie theater? This one does because it's more compact. Yes,
- 8:15Speaker 2: I see, Yeah, it's lovely. You should you should post
- 8:19Speaker 2: a okay picture so that people understand you. We'll put
- 8:22Speaker 2: a pole up and we'll say is this a merse
- 8:24Speaker 2: yes or no?
- 8:25Speaker 4: Oh I already know the answer to that.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Alrighty. Then look for that to go live here very

- 12:17Speaker 2: Washington's variety from the eighties nineties to today here on
- 12:20Speaker 2: ninety seven point one wash FM Toby at Chilly You
- 12:23Speaker 2: in the Morning, and the cost to summer vacations getting
- 12:26Speaker 2: really expensive. It's a historic average high this year of
- 12:31Speaker 2: seventy two hundred and fifty seven dollars. Yahoo says that
- 12:35Speaker 2: number is close to the nine thousand, six hundred and
- 12:37Speaker 2: sixty eight dollars. Round that up. That is a lot
- 12:40Speaker 2: eight grand and ten grand. That's a lot that's way
- 12:44Speaker 2: too much money for a vacation.
- 12:45Speaker 3: And because of that, fifty three percent of people say
- 12:48Speaker 3: they're cutting back on daily discretionary expenses like retail shopping,
- 12:52Speaker 3: dining out, and home improvements in order to afford some
- 12:55Speaker 3: sort of getaway or a vacation.
- 12:57Speaker 4: Right, but if you think back.
- 12:59Speaker 3: To your timechildhood, did you ever go on a budget
- 13:02Speaker 3: vacation that just turned into a nightmare, like it was
- 13:06Speaker 3: just not fun.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Well, you have to understand when you're in a family
- 13:09Speaker 2: with four boys, flying is probably out of the question
- 13:12Speaker 2: because it's way too expensive. Yad loaded up the car,
- 13:15Speaker 2: decided we were going to drive to Disneyland, and let
- 13:17Speaker 2: me tell you, along the way, we stated, at every
- 13:19Speaker 2: cheap hotel you could possibly think of one that comes
- 13:22Speaker 2: to mind is the time when we got one really
- 13:25Speaker 2: rinky dink hotel room with two beds, and my brothers,
- 13:29Speaker 2: all four of us had to sleep in the same
- 13:32Speaker 2: bed together, but not like you normally would sleep. We
- 13:35Speaker 2: had to sleep at the other way, like horizontally or whatever.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Oh god, yep, that was not comfortable.
- 13:41Speaker 5: Not at all.
- 13:42Speaker 2: And it was very odd, very weird. And I remember
- 13:45Speaker 2: it and I will never forget it for the rest
- 13:47Speaker 2: of my life. Now, what about you, guys.
- 13:48Speaker 4: Chilli, same thing.
- 13:49Speaker 3: We drove from Vienna, Virginia, all the way down to Orlando,
- 13:52Speaker 3: Florida to go to Disney World in a Volkswagen Rabbit,
- 13:56Speaker 3: very small car. And if that wasn't bad enough, we
- 14:00Speaker 3: got caught in a hurricane on the way down a
- 14:03Speaker 3: long ninety five. Had to pull over and wait it out,
- 14:06Speaker 3: and that car was shaking so violently I was convinced
- 14:10Speaker 3: we weren't going to survive.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Hey man, let me let me get this straight. You
- 14:13Speaker 2: you had to wait in a Volkswagen Rabbit off the
- 14:19Speaker 2: side of the road like ninety five south in the
- 14:21Speaker 2: middle of a hurricane.
- 14:22Speaker 3: That is correct, That is correct. That was our biggest
- 14:25Speaker 3: nightmare situation. Maday, nightmare is a lot worse than my
- 14:28Speaker 3: nightmare because we couldn't afford, like you said, to fly
- 14:30Speaker 3: down to Florida, so we had to drive.
- 14:32Speaker 2: But yeah, wow, anybody got a story like those? Hit
- 14:38Speaker 2: us up eight sixty six nine two seven forty three
- 14:40Speaker 2: sixty one. Tell us everything. We cannot wait to hear
- 14:43Speaker 2: your stories. Toby at Chilly in the Morning, ninety seven
- 14:47Speaker 2: point one wash FM, we're talking about your budget vacation nightmares.
- 14:52Speaker 2: A little bit ago, Chilli and I shared how we
- 14:54Speaker 2: had some nightmarish things happen when we hit the open
- 14:59Speaker 2: roads with our FA families back in the day. He
- 15:02Speaker 2: was not pleasant at all. But then again, is it
- 15:06Speaker 2: ever pleasant when you cut corners and it goes horribly,
- 15:09Speaker 2: horribly wrong.
- 15:10Speaker 3: We're about to find out. Eight six six nine two
- 15:13Speaker 3: seven four three six one is the number.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Good morning, Susan and Tacoma Park. Tell us about this
- 15:19Speaker 2: budget vacation nightmare you guys had.
- 15:21Speaker 7: When me and my dad went on vacation, we run
- 15:24Speaker 7: in a cabin. When that happened, the pipes were leaking
- 15:28Speaker 7: in the cabin, so the cabin reimbursed us and put
- 15:31Speaker 7: us in a hotel in TOWBT.
- 15:32Speaker 3: We should have just.
- 15:33Speaker 7: Went the other route and went and got us a
- 15:35Speaker 7: hotel instead of having the place where we run in
- 15:39Speaker 7: the cabin from give us a hotel because we got
- 15:41Speaker 7: the cheapest, the stinkiest. Thankfully there was no bugs. But
- 15:45Speaker 7: oh my god, it was run.
- 15:46Speaker 5: Down, run down.
- 15:48Speaker 4: You gotta describe it.
- 15:49Speaker 7: For us, It was almost like you walked into a dungeon.
- 15:52Speaker 7: Then the walls were like a dart brown. The paintings
- 15:56Speaker 7: didn't match any of the decor or betting that they had.
- 16:00Speaker 7: They took the deposit. My dad only got part of
- 16:03Speaker 7: it back, so that really hurt. Funds of back and
- 16:06Speaker 7: forth from going to get our stuff from the cabin bringing.
- 16:09Speaker 4: It down from the mountains in town.
- 16:12Speaker 7: So that just added to our day.
- 16:14Speaker 2: But Susan, at least you got a good story out
- 16:16Speaker 2: of the experience. Sure there has to be something positive
- 16:20Speaker 2: that came out of it. Thank you for jumping in
- 16:23Speaker 2: this morning to Arlington. Rachel tell us about this budget
- 16:26Speaker 2: vacation nightmare.
- 16:28Speaker 8: One time we went to Florida, and yeah, we we
- 16:32Speaker 8: tried to cut corners, you know, because we were going
- 16:34Speaker 8: to do the whole Disney experience, the whole nine yard.
- 16:37Speaker 8: We stayed at roach motel.
- 16:40Speaker 4: How Roachie.
- 16:41Speaker 8: Are we talking about its spiders? You could see, you know,
- 16:44Speaker 8: I'm pretty sure you could see like the trails from
- 16:46Speaker 8: the bed bugs and things like that. So NEI, let's
- 16:49Speaker 8: just say we did not stay in there.
- 16:51Speaker 4: Where'd you end up sleeping?
- 16:52Speaker 8: We stayed at the Camp Brown and we ended up
- 16:54Speaker 8: camping out of our vehicle.
- 16:56Speaker 2: But meanwhile, what happened back at the roach motel? Did
- 16:59Speaker 2: you get like anything back from like a security deposit or.
- 17:02Speaker 8: Whatever they did give us our money back to Because
- 17:04Speaker 8: I took the lady in there and I was like, look,
