- 0:00Speaker 1: I don't know why my phone fills the need to
- 0:02Speaker 1: keep updating me about what NFL games are on.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Like as a joke?
- 0:07Speaker 1: I guess.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Your phone thinks that's hilarious. I'm going to tell them
- 0:12Speaker 2: about football. Hi everybody, I'm Rick Randall and this is
- 0:15Speaker 2: Rock and Roll High School. Rock and Roll High School.
- 0:33Speaker 2: This is PJ Souls and you are totally listening to
- 0:36Speaker 2: Movie Meltdown.
- 0:40Speaker 3: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:42Speaker 3: Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences
- 0:46Speaker 3: and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:58Speaker 1: It's showtime, folks.
- 1:01Speaker 4: Enjoy the show.
- 1:04Speaker 5: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:34Speaker 5: to provide more cooling in the containment chamber.
- 1:36Speaker 4: To your stations, we have a movie meltdown.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Why are you messing with the fantasy? We know about
- 1:42Speaker 2: the reality. Don't ruin the fantasy, okay? What's up, and
- 1:54Speaker 2: welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian. I'm Nora.
- 1:56Speaker 1: And I'm Phillip.
- 1:57Speaker 2: And we're coming to you live via digital recording back.
- 2:01Speaker 4: At the old.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Let's see, I think I... I think I landed more.
- 2:05Speaker 2: I like the oddity manner. That sounds a little more classy. So, yeah.
- 2:13Speaker 2: We'll just go with that. You've seen it on your YouTubes.
- 2:17Speaker 2: It's sprawling mansion. We haven't even gotten to the basement yet.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Because I can't build that. It's going to cost a fortune.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I've got it planned in my head. But it's going
- 2:28Speaker 2: to take a while to finish building my basement. So,
- 2:30Speaker 2: until then, it's just a hole. Just digging a hole.
- 2:34Speaker 2: As we expand this ever-expansive universe. The Meltdown universe. It's
- 2:41Speaker 2: kind of like the MCU, but, you know. I can't
- 2:45Speaker 2: get Chris Evans to come over. I keep telling him,
- 2:48Speaker 2: come on, man. Anyway, so, we are back. And with
- 2:54Speaker 2: a very special project this week. And I'm glad I'm
- 3:00Speaker 2: not totally alone in my insanity. Because you both took
- 3:06Speaker 2: to this idea way better than I expected. And Philip,
- 3:09Speaker 2: this is maybe the most excited I've ever seen you.
- 3:11Speaker 1: It felt like you were trying to talk us out
- 3:13Speaker 1: of it at parts after we were already like, no,
- 3:16Speaker 1: we're doing this, Brian.
- 3:18Speaker 2: I just assumed everyone else, because this, this concept, I'm
- 3:23Speaker 2: not joking, came to me in a dream. And here's
- 3:27Speaker 2: the really weird part for me. I don't have dreams. Like,
- 3:32Speaker 2: in life i realized it's because i'm dead inside so
- 3:36Speaker 2: for years now like when i was younger maybe i
- 3:39Speaker 2: remember having weird dreams when i was a kid but
- 3:42Speaker 2: like in a long time i don't really have dreams
- 3:47Speaker 2: at all there have been a for a long time
- 3:49Speaker 2: there was like a stretch of like 10 years it's
- 3:51Speaker 2: just nothing like so i was just like i'm dead
- 3:53Speaker 2: inside that's that's all there is to it But every
- 3:57Speaker 2: once in a while, recently, I'm like, oh, hey, there
- 4:00Speaker 2: was something odd going on in my head that I
- 4:02Speaker 2: was unconscious for. Usually it's just the ones going on
- 4:05Speaker 2: while I'm awake. But occasionally there's something weird. I'll wake
- 4:09Speaker 2: up and be like, oh, there you go. I had something.
- 4:12Speaker 2: I guess that was like a dream. This one was
- 4:16Speaker 2: like a week or so ago or whenever I told
- 4:18Speaker 2: you about this. It had just happened recently. Now, this
- 4:21Speaker 2: is the ridiculous part, that even within my dream, it's
- 4:26Speaker 2: still just me talking with dorks. So, again, I don't
- 4:31Speaker 2: enter into some weird escapist fantasy realm. I was in
- 4:35Speaker 2: a video store talking to the other people that worked
- 4:39Speaker 2: in the video store about this dumb game or whatever
- 4:43Speaker 2: the hell it is we're about to do. That's what...
- 4:46Speaker 2: What was happening? Was this exact same thing that's happening
- 4:50Speaker 2: right here was also happening with other dorks in the dream?
- 4:54Speaker 2: How many layers, how many inception levels of dorkiness is
- 4:57Speaker 2: going on here?
- 4:59Speaker 1: But see, that's not far from how it would have
- 5:01Speaker 1: been when you did work at the video store.
- 5:02Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. That's what was weird about it
- 5:04Speaker 2: is it wasn't one of those that's like a weird
- 5:07Speaker 2: memory version of your dream. It was a video store
- 5:10Speaker 2: that I did not recognize. None of the people I
- 5:13Speaker 2: worked with did I know. Like it was just everything
- 5:15Speaker 2: else about it was random, but like everything... of the
- 5:20Speaker 2: basic concept felt like very familiar of like, Oh yep.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Standing around talking about movies with other dork side. Yep.
- 5:27Speaker 2: All right. So as I woke up, surprisingly, I remembered
- 5:30Speaker 2: the basics of this, including a few selections on mine
- 5:36Speaker 2: that I'm like, well, I got to keep with that.
- 5:38Speaker 2: I guess my unconscious mind decided this was important. So yeah,
- 5:43Speaker 2: like almost the entire little concept was fully formed when
- 5:47Speaker 2: I woke up and I was like, I guess we're
- 5:50Speaker 2: doing an episode on this. But I assumed everyone I
- 5:55Speaker 2: knew would have sense enough to be like, look, you weirdo.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Obviously we're not doing that. And then you two got
- 6:02Speaker 2: excited about it.
- 6:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:04Speaker 2: You're all crazy. So the idea is, and this, this
- 6:11Speaker 2: is what I think is a little weird. Cause I
- 6:14Speaker 2: was then trying to like present what, what is it?
- 6:17Speaker 2: And much as you are a huge NFL fan, Phillip.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Yeah, obviously.
- 6:21Speaker 2: It's almost like fantasy football. Except it's fantasy video store.
- 6:26Speaker 2: If you are going to cast your own ultimate team
- 6:31Speaker 2: to work in your video store, this is it. You
- 6:34Speaker 2: can go. But we're not going to pick like your
- 6:36Speaker 2: dorky friends. This is going to be not actors, characters
- 6:40Speaker 2: from movies. You're free to roam through the... time and
- 6:45Speaker 2: space and pick whoever you want. That's a character in
- 6:48Speaker 2: the movie and then work them into your real world
- 6:50Speaker 2: video store. None of this logically makes any sense and
- 6:53Speaker 2: we don't care. So you are a manager of and
- 6:58Speaker 2: or owner of this rental store. Um, I said it's
- 7:02Speaker 2: essentially in the mid eighties to the mid nineties, but
- 7:06Speaker 2: really who cares? Again, none of these rules apply. So
- 7:09Speaker 2: it could be on another planet in outer space for
- 7:11Speaker 2: all we care. So you feel free to work that
- 7:14Speaker 2: in if you'd like. um but yeah other than that
- 7:17Speaker 2: that's that's pretty much all you need to do is
- 7:20Speaker 2: just put yourself in charge of the store and start
- 7:22Speaker 2: hiring people so of the basic ones do we want
- 7:27Speaker 2: to like rotate around just to cover the basics and
- 7:30Speaker 2: then all the loose craziness we'll just throw out there
- 7:33Speaker 2: as we get to the end all right so the
- 7:37Speaker 2: main things um at least to just sort of set
- 7:40Speaker 2: the scene i figure you can decide if you care
- 7:44Speaker 2: if you're a corporate chain or a mom and pop
- 7:46Speaker 2: video store did anybody else even care i'm obviously mom
- 7:51Speaker 2: and pop because that's you know that's the cool one
- 7:53Speaker 2: if you ask me also mom and pop yeah yeah
- 7:56Speaker 2: i mean we're we're a chain but i mean granted
- 8:00Speaker 2: one of the ones.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Franchisee franchise yeah i was.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Like one of the ones i was at was a
- 8:05Speaker 2: huge chain so like i i don't you know Totally
- 8:09Speaker 2: speak ill of them. I have good memories of the chain.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Like, I'm the franchise owner of a chain, if that
- 8:14Speaker 1: makes sense. Like a Holiday Inn, if you will.
- 8:17Speaker 2: That definitely. And that's, as I will make reference of
- 8:20Speaker 2: later in one of the tie-ins, I recently watched The
- 8:26Speaker 2: Last Blockbuster. I don't know if you've heard about it.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Heard of it. It's a documentary that just, well, they've
- 8:32Speaker 2: been working on it for years, but they just recently
- 8:35Speaker 2: released it. And it is out there streaming, and I
- 8:38Speaker 2: heard about it and was like, that... Again, I wasn't
- 8:41Speaker 2: a huge fan of the specifics of Blockbuster, but the
- 8:44Speaker 2: concept sounded cool because it was.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Oh, we can have our own episode of all the
- 8:47Speaker 1: bad things about Blockbuster.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Oh, most definitely.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Although I was very glad it was around.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I still... occasionally went to them again
- 8:56Speaker 2: i rarely rented stuff like i was the kind of
- 8:59Speaker 2: dork who would just go to a video store and
- 9:01Speaker 2: wander around for a while and then leave i wouldn't
- 9:04Speaker 2: even necessarily in fact i used to do that a
- 9:06Speaker 2: lot to a specific one because i worked nearby and
- 9:09Speaker 2: i was like i don't know i i'm poor now
- 9:12Speaker 2: much like then so i didn't have money to go
- 9:14Speaker 2: buy lunch so like usually my lunch would consist of
- 9:17Speaker 2: me going to the video store and wandering through And
- 9:20Speaker 2: looking at movies, I'm like, oh, I haven't heard of
- 9:22Speaker 2: this one. Oh, I need to watch this one. And
- 9:24Speaker 2: that was my, that was my, yeah, that's my life. Anyway,
- 9:30Speaker 2: but that one was, that one was sort of a chain.
- 9:34Speaker 2: And Blockbuster, yeah, this last Blockbuster concept was these guys
- 9:39Speaker 2: happened to be in the small town where there was
- 9:41Speaker 2: one of like five remaining Blockbusters. I think when they started,
- 9:46Speaker 2: there might have been like 10 or 11 or something
- 9:47Speaker 2: left in the country when they started making this. They
- 9:50Speaker 2: started just kind of shooting footage of this lady that's
- 9:52Speaker 2: running the one in the town with them. And then
- 9:55Speaker 2: it got to like five, essentially. The other four were
- 9:59Speaker 2: in Alaska. because i guess there's not a lot of
- 10:02Speaker 2: options right stuff to do in alaska so they were
- 10:04Speaker 2: still up and running and all four of those clothes
- 10:08Speaker 2: like in one shot they were just like all right
- 10:09Speaker 2: we're closing these out and she became in the middle
- 10:12Speaker 2: of them filming already she became the last blockbuster still
- 10:16Speaker 2: operating And what's weird, and that's where I originally came from,
- 10:20Speaker 2: it was essentially a mom and pop video store at
- 10:24Speaker 2: one point that then got turned into, once they go
- 10:27Speaker 2: into their history, it became franchise name Blockbuster. Still kind
- 10:32Speaker 2: of used their signage and stuff, but then especially by
- 10:34Speaker 2: the end there when there were no more, they totally
- 10:37Speaker 2: ran like a mom and pop too. And the really
- 10:40Speaker 2: weird thing was at the beginning, and this was almost like, Again,
- 10:44Speaker 2: like such an interesting little snapshot into this lady's life
- 10:48Speaker 2: because it's like starting somewhat recently. And when she goes
- 10:52Speaker 2: to like, okay, and we're going to get some new
- 10:53Speaker 2: movies for the new releases, you see her shopping at
- 10:56Speaker 2: Target to go pick up the movies.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Okay, that answers a question I have.
- 11:01Speaker 2: To buy and bring back and to have in her blockbuster.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Is that even legal?
- 11:05Speaker 1: Wow.
- 11:05Speaker 2: I mean, I guess at this point, like if you
- 11:07Speaker 2: don't have video distributors that deal with video stores anymore
- 11:11Speaker 2: like what other options do you have i mean i
- 11:14Speaker 2: guess you can just go on amazon now.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I mean i'm not knocking her for doing.
- 11:17Speaker 2: It no i was like it was kind of but
- 11:18Speaker 2: it was like totally like i didn't even think about
- 11:21Speaker 2: that because i was like even you know what little
- 11:23Speaker 2: i dealt with it again the chain was such a
- 11:27Speaker 2: huge operation they had you know dealers buying tons of
- 11:30Speaker 2: copies of everything and shipping them out so you don't
- 11:33Speaker 2: really think of the one lady running the one video
- 11:35Speaker 2: store left that has to go to target and buy
- 11:38Speaker 2: the new releases to put on her.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Show but No, that brought up a good point while
- 11:42Speaker 1: you were talking about that. Because there are still video
- 11:44Speaker 1: stores around. Probably fewer than 100, if I had to guess,
- 11:49Speaker 1: in this country.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I would assume, yeah.
- 11:51Speaker 1: But yeah, how do... And yeah, you've got the niche
- 11:55Speaker 1: ones and the specialty stores. But yeah, I wonder how
- 11:59Speaker 1: the ones deal with new releases. Because I don't think
- 12:02Speaker 1: there's a distribution chain for that anymore.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I mean, if there is, it's like a weird... You'd
- 12:07Speaker 2: have to tap into somebody that's dealing with the Walmarts
- 12:11Speaker 2: of the world that are like buying 10 billion copies
- 12:14Speaker 2: to undercut you and then you're paying like $ 29. 99 for
- 12:18Speaker 2: this new movie that came out per unit.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Or there's one guy who's like, is that the phone?
- 12:26Speaker 2: Oh, it's probably that lady at Blockbuster. Wants to order
- 12:29Speaker 2: the new release. So anyway, that was, yeah, that was
- 12:32Speaker 2: a side thing. But yeah, it made me think of
- 12:35Speaker 2: this once I got into this. I was like, hey,
- 12:37Speaker 2: this is kind of Like, still going on for a
- 12:39Speaker 2: handful of people out there. Just not quite so fantasy
- 12:43Speaker 2: in the history of time in cinema. So, mom and pop.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Did you name your video store? Obviously, I mean, I
- 12:53Speaker 2: could just go with Movie Meltdown. We've already got the
- 12:56Speaker 2: melting videotape artwork to go right on the sign. So,
- 13:01Speaker 2: I can slap that up there and hang it up.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Or just Meltdown Video, which also kind of works. Yeah.
- 13:08Speaker 2: But did anyone choose anything other than that?
- 13:12Speaker 1: I couldn't come up with anything.
- 13:13Speaker 2: I failed you. You're a franchise now. You're part of
- 13:16Speaker 2: the Meltdown video chain.
- 13:19Speaker 6: Mine, for some reason, the only thing I could think
- 13:21Speaker 6: of was Like the first time I saw Silence of
- 13:23Speaker 6: the Lambs when I was a kid was in my
- 13:25Speaker 6: friend's basement and they had a Laserdisc machine.
- 13:29Speaker 5: Nice.
- 13:29Speaker 6: And it's the only movie that I've ever seen via Laserdisc.
- 13:32Speaker 2: If you want, I can get you a big old
- 13:34Speaker 2: box of them.
- 13:35Speaker 1: You still have your player?
- 13:37Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. It's not hooked up. It was actually before
- 13:40Speaker 2: I moved and I still had things that that's the
- 13:43Speaker 2: only way I had it. So I would have watched it.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Because I don't have a player, but I have several movies.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Really? I have about three boxes of DVDs. LaserDisc that
- 13:51Speaker 2: I only bought because they were fucking expensive. So I
- 13:54Speaker 2: only bought them when they were like super marked down.
- 13:57Speaker 2: So all of them I've got are like the weird
- 13:59Speaker 2: stuff that ended up for $ 3.
- 14:00Speaker 6: 99.
- 14:00Speaker 2: And I was like, I'll watch that.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I'm proud to say I own the Naked Gun two
- 14:05Speaker 1: and a half. And That Thing You Do on LaserDisc.
- 14:09Speaker 2: All right, That Thing You Do. I wouldn't be ashamed
- 14:11Speaker 2: of that. I was surprised it even came out on LaserDisc.
- 14:13Speaker 2: That Thing You Do is pretty good.
- 14:15Speaker 6: Well, so point being. sorry my store would be named
- 14:18Speaker 6: the laser disc depot.
- 14:19Speaker 7: Because that was all i could think i was just
- 14:22Speaker 7: gonna call it laser video and that already you could
- 14:25Speaker 7: have like space stuff on it so like but yours
- 14:28Speaker 7: is very like official.
- 14:30Speaker 2: And corporate and sounds like there's a forklift.
- 14:33Speaker 6: Somewhere yeah maybe i don't like depot laser video better
- 14:37Speaker 6: word that's got that got ray guns and shit on
- 14:40Speaker 6: it like yeah that works whatever.
- 14:46Speaker 2: All right. So if you, in fact, and this is again,
- 14:51Speaker 2: one of those fun, if you've worked in any dumb business,
- 14:54Speaker 2: but specifically I was throwing in some of the breakdown
- 14:57Speaker 2: of how some of them, again, everybody's business works totally different,
- 15:01Speaker 2: but sometimes you're the owner, sometimes you're the manager, and
- 15:07Speaker 2: sometimes you're the one that barely shows up and you
- 15:10Speaker 2: hire an assistant manager that's really there all the time.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Sometimes you're there half the time. So It's kind of
- 15:15Speaker 2: up to you how much you plan to work at
- 15:17Speaker 2: this store. But it's relatively important that you bring in
- 15:21Speaker 2: somebody that knows what they're doing assistant manager wise for
- 15:25Speaker 2: either of those scenarios. So that's my first one is
- 15:28Speaker 2: who is your assistant manager?
- 15:34Speaker 6: Mine, I picked Randy from Scream and Scream 2, Jamie
- 15:39Speaker 6: Kennedy's character. Because he already has experience working at a
- 15:43Speaker 6: video store.
- 15:44Speaker 2: He does.
- 15:44Speaker 6: So he got those skills. He has an endless well
- 15:47Speaker 6: of movie knowledge.
- 15:49Speaker 5: Yep.
- 15:50Speaker 6: And even predicted that the killers were the killers. And
- 15:55Speaker 6: he's just an all-around loyal friend. So that was my choice.
- 15:58Speaker 2: More or less. I considered him in my choosing of people.
- 16:03Speaker 2: But then the Randy part of it's pretty cool. The
- 16:06Speaker 2: Jamie Kennedy part of it?
- 16:08Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 16:09Speaker 6: Well, I focused on the character.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Well, we're going on character.
- 16:12Speaker 2: I know, but in reality, my brain kept going, man,
- 16:15Speaker 2: that Jamie Kennedy.
- 16:16Speaker 6: I know.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Last time I saw him, he was underneath a table.
- 16:20Speaker 2: That's true. He was at a show and being wacky
- 16:27Speaker 2: or whatever the hell he was doing, he was laying
- 16:30Speaker 2: underneath his table and you could see his foot up
- 16:32Speaker 2: on his chair. That's how he was for a while.
- 16:35Speaker 5: Hmm.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I don't know about this Jamie Kennedy character. Anyway. But yes, Randy,
- 16:43Speaker 2: within the context of all three of those first three,
- 16:46Speaker 2: is a fun guy. So I'm okay with Randy the character,
- 16:50Speaker 2: which is how we're doing.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I picked Groucho Marx specifically... The Hugo Hackenbush character from
- 16:59Speaker 1: A Day at the Races, which is kind of nothing
- 17:03Speaker 1: but headaches. This guy came to me. He told me
- 17:06Speaker 1: he had been the manager of our main competitor, which
- 17:11Speaker 1: I found out was a lie. He was actually a
- 17:13Speaker 1: manager of Circuit City. Don't know why he felt the
- 17:17Speaker 1: need to tell me that. And yeah, the whole place
- 17:20Speaker 1: smells like cigars.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I could see that. Especially if you're operating in
- 17:26Speaker 2: today's world.
- 17:27Speaker 8: We are.
- 17:28Speaker 2: The smoking part of it's not going to go over
- 17:30Speaker 2: well with people. Or the fire code, really.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And he constantly lies about where the smoke comes from.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I will say on the upside, I feel like he
- 17:39Speaker 2: could talk you out of whatever bad situation comes about.
- 17:42Speaker 2: That was mine.
- 17:43Speaker 1: It's happened a few times.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Somebody who can handle whatever goes wrong in this scenario,
- 17:50Speaker 2: they can handle it. I feel like Grouch is... Groucho's
- 17:53Speaker 2: one of those. He's got it under control, even if
- 17:55Speaker 2: he doesn't care about what's going on. He will take
- 17:59Speaker 2: care of himself and amuse himself with other people, which
- 18:02Speaker 2: is mostly what he's doing.
- 18:03Speaker 1: He flirts with the ladies a lot, though, which is
- 18:05Speaker 1: kind of problematic.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Possibly crossing a line, yeah. Oh, Groucho. But that's also
- 18:14Speaker 2: the same reason I went with mine. Again, I didn't
- 18:18Speaker 2: think too hard on any of these. I was kind
- 18:20Speaker 2: of like, what's my initial... Like, knee-jerk reaction, and I
- 18:23Speaker 2: was just like, well, obviously I'm hiring Ripley. So, Ellen
- 18:27Speaker 2: Ripley from Alien and or any of the franchise, essentially. But, yeah,
- 18:34Speaker 2: I feel like if there's somebody that can take care
- 18:36Speaker 2: of your story, Ripley's on top of things.
- 18:40Speaker 1: My only concern is, would people listen to her until
- 18:43Speaker 1: it was too late?
- 18:44Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know. I feel like she'd, any, like, random...
- 18:49Speaker 2: part-timer that questioned her, she'd just, like, slam a book
- 18:52Speaker 2: in the wall, be like, look, idiot, get over there
- 18:55Speaker 2: and file those, and you better have them in alphabetical order,
- 18:57Speaker 2: and he'd be like, okay, okay. You don't mess with her.
- 19:00Speaker 1: No, but I see her being like, yeah, don't put
- 19:02Speaker 1: those videotapes too close to the magnets, and they're like, whatever.
- 19:06Speaker 2: I feel like that's only coming from the corporate end
- 19:08Speaker 2: of it. If we were a chain, I feel like
- 19:11Speaker 2: we'd be like, yeah, I mean, we've read your report, Ripley,
- 19:14Speaker 2: that we shouldn't put these VHS tapes in the sun, but...
- 19:19Speaker 2: We're thinking of starting a new store on the sun
- 19:23Speaker 2: and we're going to send you there if you're cool
- 19:25Speaker 2: with that. And she's like, no, I don't. This is
- 19:27Speaker 2: a terrible idea. The corporation is full of idiots and
- 19:31Speaker 2: you don't listen to me. So as long as we're
- 19:34Speaker 2: mom and pop, I think she's okay. I do also,
- 19:38Speaker 2: in the concept of this, I'm sure we'll get sidetracked
- 19:41Speaker 2: in many directions. I spent a decent amount of time
- 19:44Speaker 2: thinking how this job interview is going to go. Just like,
- 19:48Speaker 2: so I see here you're the warrant officer on the Nostromo. Interesting, interesting.
- 19:53Speaker 2: What do you feel is like the biggest obstacle you
- 19:56Speaker 2: had to overcome in.
- 19:57Speaker 4: This last job?
- 19:58Speaker 2: I just like, she's like, well, let me think about that.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Suck a fucking alien out, I'll tell you that. Ripley,
- 20:09Speaker 2: just saying.
- 20:09Speaker 1: It's a good one.
- 20:13Speaker 2: All right, so my next one I got to throw in. Again,
- 20:17Speaker 2: I don't know how much this crosses over into every
- 20:20Speaker 2: chain store. I like throwing out the third key terminology.
- 20:25Speaker 2: But again, I don't know that.
- 20:26Speaker 1: I have a third key on here specifically.
- 20:27Speaker 2: That's the only time I heard it used. Like anywhere
- 20:31Speaker 2: else I worked, nobody else ever called anything that. So,
- 20:34Speaker 2: I mean, I feel like anybody that has that, especially
- 20:37Speaker 2: for a smaller store... you've pretty much got like manager, co-manager,
- 20:41Speaker 2: and then there's always a floating third person who a
- 20:44Speaker 2: lot of times is like a part-time and manager-ish person
- 20:48Speaker 2: at the same time. So that was third key for
- 20:51Speaker 2: at least one of these stores I worked at. But again,
- 20:55Speaker 2: kind of like your part-time manager, needs to be responsible,
- 20:59Speaker 2: but probably isn't there all the time for two different reasons,
- 21:04Speaker 2: or at least I put them in two different categories.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Because usually you're either hiring, can't be high school kids
- 21:09Speaker 2: because you've got to be there too many hours. So
- 21:11Speaker 2: you're looking at probably a college kid who's got certain
- 21:13Speaker 2: days they can work. Or my other option was once
- 21:17Speaker 2: you've gotten out of your regular work routine, you're a
- 21:21Speaker 2: little older, but you still might pick up a job
- 21:23Speaker 2: just to keep yourself busy. You're usually one of those
- 21:26Speaker 2: ends of the spectrum there. So where did we go
- 21:29Speaker 2: with your third key characters?
- 21:33Speaker 1: Okay, well I have, PJ Souls as Riff Randall from
- 21:37Speaker 1: Rock and Roll High School.
- 21:39Speaker 5: Nice.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Just to hang out all day with PJ sounds good
- 21:42Speaker 2: to me.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Absolutely. And I was torn. I knew it was going
- 21:45Speaker 1: to be PJ Souls, but specifically which PJ Souls, either
- 21:49Speaker 1: from Halloween, Rock and Roll High School, or from Carrie.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Because there's not a lot of difference there, but there's
- 21:55Speaker 1: just enough.
- 21:57Speaker 2: I'm just picturing your board behind the counter. We're totally
- 22:01Speaker 2: out of that. I'm sorry. You can try back, I
- 22:03Speaker 2: don't know, tomorrow.
- 22:04Speaker 5: Well.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I went with Riff because she's friendly. She's bubbly.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 22:10Speaker 1: She doesn't always play by the rules, but she gets
- 22:13Speaker 1: the job done in the end.
- 22:16Speaker 2: And she is, I questioned, well, I specifically, in talking
- 22:21Speaker 2: to PJ, I said she was an honorary Ramon.
- 22:23Speaker 8: Right.
- 22:24Speaker 2: I was like, they're dropping off, so you're one of
- 22:27Speaker 2: the few people left that were connected to him. So
- 22:30Speaker 2: I said she's a Ramon, so.
- 22:31Speaker 1: They say that at the end of rock and roll.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Maybe she can, you know, get the band back together.
- 22:36Speaker 2: This is time and space. I suppose we can also
- 22:38Speaker 2: necromance them back into the band. We are totally out
- 22:46Speaker 2: of that. All right.
- 22:52Speaker 6: Uh i read the uh role entirely wrong and i
- 22:56Speaker 6: thought like night shift so i picked a vampire that
- 23:00Speaker 6: also i mean i was like third like third shift
- 23:03Speaker 6: but apparently that's not right but anyway you.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Can have a nighttime shift leader who's a third key.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Yeah okay i mean most of them are i mean
- 23:11Speaker 2: the the one we had here that i briefly worked
- 23:14Speaker 2: at was open till midnight most definitely the weekend so
- 23:17Speaker 2: that's already a pretty late shift for me i can't
- 23:20Speaker 2: i'm asleep by then so Gonna have to hire possibly
- 23:23Speaker 2: a vampire.
- 23:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:25Speaker 6: So I hired Viago, who is Taika Waititi's character from
- 23:30Speaker 6: What We Do in the Shadows. Because I love him
- 23:33Speaker 6: so much.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I do like him in general as a person. So
- 23:36Speaker 2: obviously any of his characters.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Plus it is fun to say Waititi.
- 23:40Speaker 6: Taika Waititi.
- 23:41Speaker 2: That just... That's a hard name to say.
- 23:44Speaker 1: It's no Imogen Poots.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Surprisingly, she's not working in my videos. She's not on
- 23:50Speaker 2: mine either. Not on mine either. What's up with that?
- 23:51Speaker 6: She would have been a good one.
- 23:52Speaker 5: Dang.
- 23:53Speaker 6: But I picked him because he's nocturnal and he would
- 23:56Speaker 6: eat anybody who tried to break in and mess with
- 23:58Speaker 6: any of my inventory. He's also super adorable. Has great clothes.
- 24:03Speaker 6: Excellent outfits. won't slash can't eat any of the snacks.
- 24:08Speaker 6: And is very clean. Because I love that scene in
- 24:11Speaker 6: the movie where he goes down to the basement and
- 24:13Speaker 6: he's like, Peter, I brought a broom so you could
- 24:17Speaker 6: sweep up all the skeletons of the chickens.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Possibly a little OCD about it. So I think he
- 24:24Speaker 2: and I would get along really well.
- 24:25Speaker 1: But you need to run a clean store.
- 24:26Speaker 9: I mean, I get it.
- 24:28Speaker 6: I pick him. I love him.
- 24:29Speaker 2: I'm also trying to picture somebody who doesn't know the
- 24:34Speaker 2: specifics of him and are still accusing him of like, look,
- 24:37Speaker 2: we're missing a lot of Sour Patch Kids. And not
- 24:40Speaker 2: saying anything, but I can't even eat those. I might
- 24:48Speaker 2: suck them dry. So this one, again, I went for
- 24:53Speaker 2: the older one. I was like, who are we going
- 24:55Speaker 2: to get that's like maybe semi-retired but wants to come
- 24:59Speaker 2: hang out and keep themselves busy with a job part-time?
- 25:03Speaker 2: So I immediately was going again, just sort of going
- 25:06Speaker 2: for a person and like, which character is the way
- 25:08Speaker 2: to go? So I was going with Jimmy Stewart. But
- 25:13Speaker 2: I was like, well, my first thought is Vertigo. But
- 25:17Speaker 2: I'm like, Scotty's problematic. Like, number one, he's working real
- 25:22Speaker 2: hard at becoming an alcoholic by the end of that movie.
- 25:25Speaker 2: And number two, he's kind of creepy. He likes following
- 25:28Speaker 2: women around and then trying to turn them into other women.
- 25:30Speaker 2: And like, this just seems like an HR nightmare. So
- 25:34Speaker 2: instead I went with Jeff Jeffries from Rear Window. So
- 25:38Speaker 2: I figure he gets injured a few too many times.
- 25:41Speaker 2: He's just like, look, I'm going to have to cut
- 25:43Speaker 2: out this photography game and just try to settle down.
- 25:47Speaker 2: I've got this awesome girlfriend because Grace Kelly is gorgeous.
- 25:50Speaker 2: So I'm probably just going to stay around here. But
- 25:53Speaker 2: I figure everybody that comes up, he's also going to
- 25:55Speaker 2: have some sort of crazy war story that he's just
- 25:58Speaker 2: going to be like, ah, written Casablanca. I remember one
- 26:02Speaker 2: time I was doing a photo shoot in Morocco, and
- 26:04Speaker 2: I just trail off for like 20 minutes on some
- 26:06Speaker 2: sort of crazy story, and then he gets injured somehow. Yeah.
- 26:11Speaker 2: I feel like all of his photo shoots ended.
- 26:13Speaker 1: I had a neighbor who used to watch Color Purple
- 26:15Speaker 1: over and over.
- 26:16Speaker 2: All the time.
- 26:17Speaker 1: And I would watch it through a window. You probably
- 26:20Speaker 1: don't need to know this.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Okay, also a little creepy, but you know, it was
- 26:25Speaker 2: for a legit reason. He was looking for a murderer.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Or that girl exercising.
- 26:31Speaker 2: One or the other, I don't know.
- 26:33Speaker 6: Calisthenics.
- 26:37Speaker 2: But yeah, I figure just hanging out with Jimmy Stewart
- 26:40Speaker 2: telling stories all day.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Oh, sure.
- 26:44Speaker 2: That's the way to go.
- 26:45Speaker 1: But see, now I'm picturing Jimmy working in my video
- 26:48Speaker 1: store and Riff's like, uh-huh.
- 26:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 26:54Speaker 2: She grabs a hold of some Sour Patch Kids. Because
- 26:57Speaker 2: she's totally the reason those Sour Patch Kids are disappearing.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Off the show.
- 27:02Speaker 2: I'm not saying anything, Riff, but we might.
- 27:04Speaker 4: Have to have a talk.
- 27:05Speaker 1: And there's gum stuck to everything.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Dammit.
- 27:09Speaker 10: Your brick and mortar first appeared in 85. Beta and
- 27:13Speaker 10: VHS brought old movies to life. It's just a shame
- 27:17Speaker 10: your business model can't survive.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Oh, oh.
- 27:24Speaker 10: And now just network says you're going to close your doors.
- 27:27Speaker 10: Because of Amazon Prime and those Redbox whores. At least
- 27:32Speaker 10: we won't hear, please be kind, rewind, no more.
- 27:34Speaker 5: Oh, oh.
- 27:37Speaker 10: And now my children, oh, oh, oh, will never know you.
- 27:42Speaker 10: Digital killed the video store. Digital killed the video store.

- 28:33Speaker 8: It's my favorite.
- 28:35Speaker 2: I think most people are into that. And if they are,
- 28:38Speaker 2: they should be joining up on the old Meltdown Horror Club.
- 28:42Speaker 10: I will take you to a place where my friends foregather.
- 28:46Speaker 10: There you will find stories of such blood-curdling terror.

- 28:56Speaker 2: Well, yes, all they have to do is go to MovieMeltdown.com,
- 28:59Speaker 2: click on the Meltdown Horror Club link that's right there
- 29:02Speaker 2: on the right-hand side, and join the club. Hells yeah.
- 29:05Speaker 2: And then they can hear exclusive episodes.
- 29:08Speaker 1: All about horror.
- 29:10Speaker 2: All about whatever crazy movies we're watching. And at this point,
- 29:13Speaker 2: they get to help us pick the next movie that
- 29:16Speaker 2: we watch. Awesome. Them and Satan. And or the evil
- 29:21Speaker 2: forces that live inside the 20-sided die that I now
- 29:23Speaker 2: use to choose what our next horror movie is going
- 29:25Speaker 2: to be. But you put things on the list and
- 29:28Speaker 2: then we go to the evil forces that live in
- 29:30Speaker 2: the die and they tell us what the next movie is.
- 29:33Speaker 2: It's pretty fun.
- 29:34Speaker 6: Sounds pretty exciting.
- 29:35Speaker 2: I think we're having fun with it and you can
- 29:37Speaker 2: be part of that fun. Go to MovieMeltdown.com join the
- 29:40Speaker 2: Meltdown Horror Club, and get in on the action.
- 29:43Speaker 4: The most fun you'll ever have being scared.
- 29:51Speaker 11: Primero son ácidos.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Luego son dulces.
- 29:55Speaker 7: Para mí?
- 29:55Speaker 8: Hey!
- 29:58Speaker 1: I rewound.
- 30:07Speaker 6: This tape all over and it's blank.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Really?
- 30:10Speaker 2: This video, it don't work.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Yours looks like this.
- 30:13Speaker 8: Look, look, look.
- 30:16Speaker 5: All the tapes are blank.
- 30:18Speaker 1: It's the TV, Mike.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Show me how you.
- 30:20Speaker 5: Why is it doing that? Does that happen when you
- 30:22Speaker 5: do it?
- 30:23Speaker 8: Uh-oh.
- 30:23Speaker 5: What is wrong with you?
- 30:25Speaker 1: Why is it doing that when you do that?
- 30:27Speaker 5: We're magnetized!
- 30:28Speaker 2: You erased these tapes!
- 30:31Speaker 1: It's you! You gotta find new tapes.
- 30:36Speaker 2: I got a better idea.
- 30:37Speaker 4: Follow me.
- 30:40Speaker 5: When you're walking down the street and you see a
- 30:43Speaker 5: little ghost, what you gonna do about Ghostbusters? What? What?
- 30:48Speaker 2: What is that?
- 30:49Speaker 1: That's the Ghostbusters theme song.
- 30:51Speaker 4: No.
- 30:52Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure it is.
- 30:53Speaker 1: That wasn't bad.
- 30:54Speaker 2: What else y'all got? I will shoot you and I
- 30:56Speaker 2: know robot karate.
- 31:15Speaker 10: Nothing from nothing leaves nothing.
- 31:18Speaker 2: These are not just simple remakes.
- 31:22Speaker 9: What's happening to her?
- 31:26Speaker 1: Our version is better.
- 31:27Speaker 12: Our version is only 20 minutes.
- 31:29Speaker 5: We're celebrities now.
- 31:31Speaker 2: People recognize me in the street.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Go in for the kiss.
- 31:34Speaker 11: Go now.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Kiss him now.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Why do I have to kiss Wilson? You have to
- 31:38Speaker 1: keep her from blowing your head off.
- 31:40Speaker 11: I'm not kissing Wilson.
- 31:41Speaker 8: Ambitious.
- 31:42Speaker 9: Stop trying to beat me.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Hi, this is Doug Jones.
- 31:44Speaker 7: From the Oscar-winning movie.
- 32:10Speaker 2: The shape of water but right now you're listening to
- 32:14Speaker 2: movie meltdown.
- 32:14Speaker 13: It's part of your problem you know you haven't seen
- 32:25Speaker 13: enough movies all of life's riddles are answered in the
- 32:27Speaker 13: movies and now on with the show.
- 32:45Speaker 8: But here we are again Another week has come and
- 32:52Speaker 8: been And like every other week We find ourselves.
- 32:59Speaker 14: Condemned to choose There's too damn many, many in here
- 33:09Speaker 14: There's too damn many, many.
- 33:12Speaker 8: In here And I've got to find one.
- 33:16Speaker 5: To take home.
- 33:17Speaker 8: And I don't know what it's called, but it's small
- 33:20Speaker 8: and independent. And it's going to take some time to find.
- 33:27Speaker 2: All right, so the rest of them, we've got the
- 33:30Speaker 2: basic staff thrown together here. So everything else we can
- 33:35Speaker 2: just throw out if we have some of these other
- 33:38Speaker 2: crazy characters. I threw out a few, but again, if
- 33:41Speaker 2: you come up with your own, definitely... Go to town.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Do we want to go with the... The one that
- 33:48Speaker 2: I came up with was... And some of them are
- 33:51Speaker 2: based on different versions of people over the years. And
- 33:53Speaker 2: I feel like most video stores, especially independent ones, you
- 33:56Speaker 2: would definitely have that weird employee that doesn't really talk
- 34:01Speaker 2: to people much. But yet, I balanced it out with
- 34:05Speaker 2: probably knows a ridiculous amount about movies. So, for my
- 34:10Speaker 2: version of that, I went with... henry spencer which would
- 34:15Speaker 2: be john nance from eraser i feel like he still
- 34:21Speaker 2: comes in with crazy hair and though the rest of
- 34:24Speaker 2: us are wearing like jeans and movie t-shirts he comes
- 34:26Speaker 2: in in the suit every day and um doesn't really
- 34:31Speaker 2: talk a lot and but eventually somebody not knowing will
- 34:36Speaker 2: come up and be like do you have the color purple?
- 34:38Speaker 2: And he'll be like, um, over there, take a left
- 34:42Speaker 2: 14 down on the right there. And like, he'll, he'll
- 34:44Speaker 2: have everything like in his head laid out within the store.
- 34:48Speaker 2: And like, so yeah, he's really good at putting the
- 34:51Speaker 2: stock back. Like he just doesn't say much, but he,
- 34:54Speaker 2: he's sort of lurking over in the corner there, just
- 34:56Speaker 2: making sure all the stocks in the right place. Don't
- 35:00Speaker 2: get it out of. So yeah, just crazy eraser head
- 35:06Speaker 2: hanging out in the corner. being cool, you know, like
- 35:09Speaker 2: he is. That's my weird employee.
- 35:13Speaker 1: My weird employee is Ally Sheedy's character, Allison, from The
- 35:17Speaker 1: Breakfast Club. She's quiet. People kind of avoid her, but.
- 35:22Speaker 2: I'm going to be hanging out at your video store
- 35:24Speaker 2: is what I'm finding. Because, yeah, forget the princess. It's
- 35:28Speaker 2: all about Ally Sheedy in that movie.
- 35:31Speaker 6: I guess mine's kind of in the same vein, but
- 35:33Speaker 6: it would be Cameron from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
- 35:35Speaker 5: Nice.
- 35:35Speaker 2: All right, all right.
- 35:37Speaker 6: He's probably very smart.
- 35:39Speaker 1: I see him being a hard worker when you can
- 35:42Speaker 1: find him.
- 35:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:43Speaker 2: You know? As long as Ferris doesn't come up. Anytime
- 35:48Speaker 2: his friend shows up, it all goes to hell.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Look, your friend with the vest has to leave.
- 35:52Speaker 2: He's got to go, man. Who keeps parking that car?
- 35:56Speaker 2: That is not a spot. Somebody's going to scratch your car, man.
- 36:00Speaker 1: I'm looking at this now, and I'm noticing that there's
- 36:02Speaker 1: a lot of white people on my list. And I
- 36:04Speaker 1: feel bad about that. But there are... So far, I
- 36:07Speaker 1: do have two women working for me, so that's somewhat diverse.
- 36:12Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't have any yet. I only have two.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Of the other random employees, I've got a mixture there.
- 36:20Speaker 2: It's funny that I totally didn't go for the Randy option.
- 36:25Speaker 2: But I did go for a Scream 4 option. And
- 36:30Speaker 2: has nothing to do with the video store world. This
- 36:36Speaker 2: was one that carried over. I'm pretty sure I came
- 36:38Speaker 2: up with this in the dream. And I went, well,
- 36:41Speaker 2: I guess they're working there then. I hired on Adam
- 36:44Speaker 2: Brody and Anthony Anderson as like a team because these
- 36:48Speaker 2: two are joined at the hip. And they're going to
- 36:51Speaker 2: be working together. So you might as well just go
- 36:52Speaker 2: ahead and put their shifts on the same schedule because
- 36:56Speaker 2: these two are just they just hang out all day
- 37:00Speaker 2: just talking hanging out possibly eyeballing those sour patch kids
- 37:04Speaker 2: but mostly just hanging out and talking and and i
- 37:08Speaker 2: guess they help customers but for some reason those two
- 37:11Speaker 2: needed to be working at my store they are quite
- 37:16Speaker 2: entertaining together i have to say It's interesting that you
- 37:21Speaker 2: both have brought up Scream characters because this guy's not
- 37:25Speaker 2: an employee, but he is a customer.
- 37:27Speaker 1: I have Liev Schreiber.
- 37:28Speaker 6: All right.
- 37:30Speaker 5: Cotton.
- 37:30Speaker 1: As Cotton, yeah.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Cotton just hangs out there.
- 37:33Speaker 1: He's a decent enough customer, but he's why we had
- 37:36Speaker 1: to put a limit on our free popcorn policy. So, yeah.
- 37:42Speaker 2: I can see that.
- 37:43Speaker 6: Creepily popping out from behind.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Rinse a lot of porn.
- 37:46Speaker 2: A lot of porn.
- 37:47Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. I have.
- 37:48Speaker 2: I have my category.
- 37:49Speaker 6: Oh, I didn't even think about that.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Which wouldn't bother me.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Mine's coming up.
- 37:53Speaker 1: But it doesn't bother me that he rents a lot
- 37:55Speaker 1: of porn because that's what it's there for.
- 37:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:57Speaker 1: But he rents the stuff that I'm like, I didn't
- 37:59Speaker 1: even know I had this movie in stock for one.
- 38:02Speaker 1: And two, he insists on checking out with the teenage girls,
- 38:06Speaker 1: which is problematic.
- 38:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Well, are we jumping to the weird regular customers then?
- 38:14Speaker 2: Because while we're in the special room. Which I've decided my,
- 38:20Speaker 2: which actually, I mean, if especially, you didn't think about it,
- 38:23Speaker 2: but you're mom and pop, Nora, so you're going to
- 38:25Speaker 2: have to have one because that's the only thing that
- 38:27Speaker 2: kept mom and pop stores open. When blockbusters came around
- 38:30Speaker 2: and had 500 copies of one new release movie that
- 38:33Speaker 2: you can't compete with, the one thing you had that
- 38:36Speaker 2: they didn't was a special room. So I've also decided
- 38:39Speaker 2: my special room definitely needs old school 70s beads on
- 38:43Speaker 2: the door. Oh, yeah. Well, yeah. Which I never really
- 38:46Speaker 2: saw one that had, but I'm like, that is so,
- 38:48Speaker 2: like I saw it on like TV and movies did that,
- 38:51Speaker 2: but I'm like, I never physically went to one that
- 38:53Speaker 2: had those, but I'm like, I'm bringing it back.
- 38:55Speaker 1: The one down the street from my house? No, it
- 38:57Speaker 1: had a curtain.
- 38:57Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I've seen curtains. Yeah, I've definitely seen the curtain.
- 39:01Speaker 1: It had a very loud curtain.
- 39:03Speaker 2: There you go.
- 39:06Speaker 5: See?
- 39:06Speaker 2: I'm not looking at porno. At least in the last
- 39:10Speaker 2: incarnation of the most recent porno I was at, they
- 39:13Speaker 2: had it where it was like, he built it to
- 39:15Speaker 2: be that, I guess, because it was like a door
- 39:17Speaker 2: and it like ran into a wall and then you
- 39:19Speaker 2: had to turn another corner. So you didn't need a curtain. Yeah.
- 39:22Speaker 2: But you also didn't need like anything to block it.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Like it just led to another wall and And if
- 39:26Speaker 2: you didn't know it was in there, you'd just walk
- 39:28Speaker 2: right past it. It was only when your kids wandered
- 39:30Speaker 2: in there, you were like, oh, shit. Hold on. Don't
- 39:33Speaker 2: look at those. Don't look at those. Cover your eyes.
- 39:34Speaker 2: He ingeniously made a nice little maze to keep you
- 39:40Speaker 2: from walking directly into Game of Bones or whatever was
- 39:44Speaker 2: on the other side. Those were my favorite, were the
- 39:47Speaker 2: legitimate movies and things that they turned into titles, which
- 39:51Speaker 2: I think everybody, that's an easy joke.
- 39:53Speaker 1: What's sad is I don't think they do that so
- 39:55Speaker 1: much anymore.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Not as much.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Because now it's just name of movie parody.
- 39:59Speaker 2: Yeah, even then it was already kind of a dying
- 40:02Speaker 2: art form. Because that started even in the 70s of
- 40:05Speaker 2: them ripping off big movies. And in the 80s it
- 40:08Speaker 2: was just overrun with those kind of things. But yeah.
- 40:11Speaker 2: By the time I was there, there was only a handful.
- 40:13Speaker 2: It would just be the really big things that would
- 40:16Speaker 2: come out and they'd have to do a porn parody.
- 40:18Speaker 2: But now the internet's just loaded with them. You don't
- 40:20Speaker 2: have to put any work into it.
- 40:23Speaker 1: It's just there. Sometimes you can be looking for the
- 40:25Speaker 1: legit movie.
- 40:27Speaker 2: The other one is readily available. Don't you worry. But yeah,
- 40:33Speaker 2: so mine, I was trying to figure out who is
- 40:35Speaker 2: it that loiters around the special room. Definitely Claire Quilty.
- 40:41Speaker 2: From Lolita.
- 40:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 40:43Speaker 2: Either of them. Either Peter Sellers or Frank Langella. Also creepy.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Both of them have to wear an overcoat, which for
- 40:52Speaker 2: Peter Sellers is tricky because then people are like, you
- 40:54Speaker 2: know who you look like? You look like that Pink
- 40:57Speaker 2: Panther guy. He's like, I get that a lot.
- 41:00Speaker 1: I want Frank Langella for my special room, but as Skeletor. Oh,
- 41:06Speaker 1: I would hope. But then.
- 41:09Speaker 2: The creepy thing about either version of him is not
- 41:12Speaker 2: that he just quietly lurks in there. He wants to
- 41:15Speaker 2: chit-chat with people. He wants to be like, oh, yeah,
- 41:19Speaker 2: have you seen that one? I mean, surprisingly good lighting.
- 41:23Speaker 2: I feel like he's got lots of facts about it
- 41:26Speaker 2: that crosses over into could be interesting, but also why
- 41:30Speaker 2: are you talking to me right now? That wasn't a
- 41:33Speaker 2: room people chatted in a lot. Everybody quietly went about
- 41:37Speaker 2: their business. And like tucked it on the side of
- 41:40Speaker 2: them as they brought it up to the register. Like
- 41:42Speaker 2: people just knew to keep to themselves. And then there'd
- 41:46Speaker 2: always be that one person. And I feel like Quilty
- 41:49Speaker 2: is one of those kind of people. Mostly just to
- 41:53Speaker 2: bug people, I feel like.
- 41:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Because I don't even know if he's super talkative in
- 41:56Speaker 2: the rest of the world. But I think he knows
- 41:58Speaker 2: it gets on people's nerves. And he wants to do
- 42:00Speaker 2: it there because he's a little creepy. A little creepy.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Fair enough.
- 42:04Speaker 2: All right. So there's the special room with the beads.
- 42:08Speaker 2: definitely with the beans i.
- 42:10Speaker 6: Feel like seth rogan's character or not seth rogan's character
- 42:13Speaker 6: jonah hill's character from super bad would be also one
- 42:16Speaker 6: that would you would find loitering in that you're like
- 42:20Speaker 6: you gotta go.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Buddy come on move along move drop those sour patch
- 42:24Speaker 2: kids and get the hell out of.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Here like any of jonah hill's characters especially the one
- 42:29Speaker 1: from 40 year old virgin Or.
- 42:30Speaker 2: Just Jonah Hill. Or just Jonah Hill. Be like, Jonah Hill, please.
- 42:34Speaker 2: We've told you. Get out of here.
- 42:36Speaker 1: You're like, which Jonah Hill character are you?
- 42:38Speaker 2: And he's like, seriously, I'm Jonah Hill. You don't recognize
- 42:42Speaker 2: me because I lost a lot of weight, but I
- 42:45Speaker 2: still like my porn. So, ring me up. All right.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Let's see. Are we back to... Oh, no, we forgot.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Did you have other random employees?
- 42:57Speaker 1: I have a handyman slash custodial slash general. I have
- 43:02Speaker 1: it listed as odd job doer.
- 43:03Speaker 2: I have a few random people that I'm like probably
- 43:06Speaker 2: wouldn't actually work at any store like this, but I'm
- 43:09Speaker 2: throwing them in there for the hell of it. So,
- 43:12Speaker 2: all right. Who's your handyman?
- 43:14Speaker 1: Mine is Jim Varney as Ernest P. Worrell in any Ernest.
- 43:18Speaker 2: I feel like there's going to be some wacky hijinks
- 43:21Speaker 2: at your store.
- 43:21Speaker 1: This whole thing is just Ernest. I really should fire
- 43:27Speaker 1: this guy. He breaks more than he fixes, rarely finishes
- 43:31Speaker 1: what he starts. One time I even caught him making
- 43:33Speaker 1: his own versions of hit movies for customers to rent.
- 43:37Speaker 1: But he's a heart of gold and is super loyal
- 43:38Speaker 1: to me and the team, so, you know.
- 43:41Speaker 15: Aw.
- 43:42Speaker 2: I mean, Ernest is kind of lovable.
- 43:46Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 43:46Speaker 2: He's a lot of trouble, but, you know, he means well.
- 43:49Speaker 6: And a fellow Kentuckian.
- 43:50Speaker 2: There he is.
- 43:52Speaker 1: There is not a single employee or really customer in
- 43:55Speaker 1: this store that has not been helped by his kindness
- 43:58Speaker 1: and generosity.
- 43:59Speaker 2: He does seem like he would be super helpful.
- 44:01Speaker 13: Oh, yeah.
- 44:01Speaker 1: I mean, it doesn't always seem that way at first.
- 44:05Speaker 1: He made a machine that was supposed to alphabetize all
- 44:08Speaker 1: the videotapes. All it did was blank all of them.
- 44:11Speaker 1: That's why he started shooting his own movies.
- 44:13Speaker 2: I think I've seen this movie before. Let's see. I
- 44:19Speaker 2: did have... I specifically, in the rundown, who's that plucky
- 44:23Speaker 2: new kid? There was only one option for me. And again,
- 44:27Speaker 2: I just knee-jerk reaction. I'm like, well, obviously, Tom Holland
- 44:31Speaker 2: as Peter Parker. He's the kid that I think of
- 44:35Speaker 2: for any random kid now. I'm like, before he gets
- 44:38Speaker 2: his big fancy photography job, he probably works at the
- 44:42Speaker 2: video store. So yeah, this is his in-between job. But
- 44:47Speaker 2: how can you not love that kid? He's just so
- 44:49Speaker 2: damn likable. I don't know. He kind of knows his movies,
- 44:53Speaker 2: but mostly he's just actually he also reminds me of
- 44:56Speaker 2: somebody I used to work with who kind of looked
- 45:00Speaker 2: like him and was kind of that adorable and everybody
- 45:03Speaker 2: liked him. And I was just like, life just must
- 45:05Speaker 2: be easy.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Does this quirky little Asian buddy hang out.
- 45:08Speaker 4: At the store?
- 45:09Speaker 2: I hope so.
- 45:09Speaker 1: Because I feel like. I feel like that'd be the
- 45:12Speaker 1: one friend where you could be like, yeah, you can hang.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Out as much as you want. He probably doesn't ever
- 45:17Speaker 2: get a job there, but he does equally as much
- 45:19Speaker 2: work as Peter does. And you're just like, when did
- 45:22Speaker 2: you do that? Oh, no, I alphabetized those for you.
- 45:25Speaker 2: I'm like, okay. You know you don't work here, right? Yeah,
- 45:29Speaker 2: but I'm waiting until he gets off and we're going
- 45:30Speaker 2: to go build the Death Star.
- 45:32Speaker 1: What was that character's name?
- 45:35Speaker 2: What is his name? He is one of my favorite
- 45:37Speaker 2: things about both of those movies.
- 45:38Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 45:40Speaker 1: Well, that and Aunt May.
- 45:43Speaker 2: She's a little different version of Aunt May.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Whatever, I'll take it.
- 45:48Speaker 2: You and Tony Stark. Wasn't it Ned?
- 45:52Speaker 1: It might have been Ned.
- 45:53Speaker 2: Am I making that up before I even get to it?
- 45:55Speaker 2: Let's see. Ned! I was right. My brain remembered something.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Jacob is his real name. Wow, that does not look
- 46:05Speaker 2: like him at all. That is not how I pictured Ned.
- 46:11Speaker 5: No.
- 46:12Speaker 1: He does not look the same out in the real world.
- 46:14Speaker 1: He kind of drew me in that dangerous sort of.
- 46:17Speaker 2: You know. It's like, I'm the rock stunt double? Screw
- 46:21Speaker 2: you guys. So, does anybody else have a plucky new kid?
- 46:28Speaker 2: I couldn't think of one.
- 46:29Speaker 5: Me neither.
- 46:30Speaker 6: I don't know why.
- 46:32Speaker 2: I also like the idea that maybe he isn't just
- 46:35Speaker 2: Peter Parker, but he also is the Peter Parker who
- 46:38Speaker 2: is Spider-Man. So like he's like when people aren't looking,
- 46:40Speaker 2: he's like grabbing movies off the shelf with the webs
- 46:43Speaker 2: and like doing crazy feats of strength because he has
- 46:46Speaker 2: super spider powers and whatnot. So I like to think,
- 46:50Speaker 2: you know, also good for like security purposes. Oh, sure.
- 46:54Speaker 1: But it seems like he would disappear frequently.
- 46:57Speaker 2: That happens a lot when you're friends with Peter. Yeah.
- 46:59Speaker 2: That's how he, you know, the whole, the whole, either
- 47:04Speaker 2: of the girlfriends, their relationship does not go well because
- 47:07Speaker 2: every time they turn around, they say, where the hell
- 47:09Speaker 2: did Peter go?
- 47:10Speaker 6: No.
- 47:12Speaker 2: See, I don't really have, again, I'm not, I'm not
- 47:15Speaker 2: a corporate run one, but I started casting those anyway
- 47:18Speaker 2: just because. So I don't have a district manager. But again,
- 47:23Speaker 2: I'm basing it on reality. And the only thing I
- 47:26Speaker 2: can't ever think of any district manager without thinking of
- 47:29Speaker 2: the district manager that used to be in charge of
- 47:32Speaker 2: the chain that I was at. And he... I don't
- 47:35Speaker 2: know if I 100% realized it at the time. When
- 47:38Speaker 2: I look back on him, in my memories, he's played
- 47:41Speaker 2: by the 80s, 90s era version of John Landis. Because
- 47:47Speaker 2: he's legitimate. Like he was... A dark haired dude with
- 47:50Speaker 2: a beard and he was about that height.
- 47:52Speaker 1: If we're thinking of the same guy.
- 47:54Speaker 2: Yeah, he totally looked like that guy. And I was
- 47:56Speaker 2: just like, I don't think I put that together at
- 47:59Speaker 2: the time. But now when I look back, I'm like,
- 48:00Speaker 2: he looked like almost exactly. He definitely, everything about him
- 48:05Speaker 2: looked like that. His face might have been just different enough.
- 48:08Speaker 2: He wouldn't have gotten mistaken for him. But everything about
- 48:10Speaker 2: him feels like a weird guy. 80s to 90s era
- 48:13Speaker 2: John Williams.
- 48:14Speaker 1: And he went to work in the video world. That's interesting.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:18Speaker 1: A little strange.
- 48:20Speaker 2: And again if ever there was a sad life this
- 48:24Speaker 2: poor bastard and I hated him because he always came
- 48:28Speaker 2: down on us for stupid things that I didn't want
- 48:29Speaker 2: to do. He was the voice of the corporation so
- 48:32Speaker 2: much like Ripley we both hated the corporation because the
- 48:35Speaker 2: corporation is what ruins the fun of what that job
- 48:38Speaker 2: is because everything else about that job was awesome except
- 48:42Speaker 2: the corporation. So the corporation that killed that company, he,
- 48:46Speaker 2: he was the face of it for me. So, but yeah, that's,
- 48:50Speaker 2: that's how, so I was going with, uh, he, I
- 48:52Speaker 2: was like, he isn't in a bunch of those movies.
- 48:54Speaker 2: So I was like, let's pick a, uh, in trading places.
- 48:58Speaker 2: He plays uncredited man with briefcase. I was like, well,
- 49:02Speaker 2: that sounds like a DM to me. So he comes
- 49:05Speaker 2: in with his briefcase and yeah, he just kind of
- 49:10Speaker 2: the ass.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:11Speaker 2: But yeah, this poor bastard would at least... I remember
- 49:14Speaker 2: because we used to come up with this like piecing
- 49:17Speaker 2: together of his life at the time at least six
- 49:21Speaker 2: days a week he would be driving from one store
- 49:24Speaker 2: to the next that was the entirety he had a
- 49:27Speaker 2: house apartment and once I think he came out of
- 49:30Speaker 2: like Michigan or somewhere but like.
- 49:32Speaker 1: Wasn't Michigan but because I know he was down in
- 49:35Speaker 1: Tennessee all the time yeah maybe.
- 49:37Speaker 2: He was outside of Tennessee somewhere but like He had
- 49:40Speaker 2: a house, but like six out of seven days he
- 49:43Speaker 2: was on the road in one of the stores pestering
- 49:47Speaker 2: the managers, asking dumb questions, showing up with his man
- 49:50Speaker 2: with briefcase. And I'm just like, this is your life?
- 49:55Speaker 2: Because then he would have to stay at a hotel
- 49:57Speaker 2: and the corporation would cover it, which is fun, I
- 50:00Speaker 2: would think, for the first few months. And then after
- 50:02Speaker 2: a while you're like, oh my God, I just want
- 50:04Speaker 2: to go home.
- 50:05Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Well, annoying.
- 50:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Knowing what that company paid their store managers, I can't
- 50:11Speaker 1: imagine their district managers were really rolling out.
- 50:15Speaker 2: So yeah, he was just... I think this is a
- 50:19Speaker 2: legit story with tie-ins to our creepy special room. But
- 50:23Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure one of our employees that you might
- 50:27Speaker 2: have also known, I think had to go to a
- 50:31Speaker 2: specific type of an establishment.
- 50:32Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the funny thing. I think he went not
- 50:34Speaker 1: because I'm going to go here, but there was.
- 50:36Speaker 2: No, got roped into like a friend had a bachelor
- 50:39Speaker 2: party and had to go to a strip club and
- 50:42Speaker 2: saw our district manager there. And I was like, oh God,
- 50:45Speaker 2: this adds such an extra layer to like, you go,
- 50:50Speaker 2: you have to eat at a restaurant every night of
- 50:53Speaker 2: your life because you're not at home. So you're eating
- 50:55Speaker 2: some sort of sad Applebee's by yourself. And then afterwards
- 51:00Speaker 2: you have nothing to do because you have to drive
- 51:02Speaker 2: to Michigan tomorrow. So you end up at a strip
- 51:06Speaker 2: club for like, this is your life. Six out of
- 51:09Speaker 2: seven days a week. Maybe he shot himself. I don't know.
- 51:13Speaker 2: This is the sad, sorriest life ever. So, John Landis,
- 51:17Speaker 2: take that.
- 51:19Speaker 1: You know, what's funny is because that guy was such a,
- 51:24Speaker 1: not to my side, but throwing it to the side
- 51:27Speaker 1: of somebody that I was involved with, I haven't thought
- 51:33Speaker 1: about that guy in decades. But I remember thinking, man,
- 51:36Speaker 1: what a pain in the ass. Now, like you say,
- 51:38Speaker 1: it's just like, What a sad existence.
- 51:42Speaker 2: I mean, even at the time, we disliked him quite
- 51:45Speaker 2: a bit, but at the same time, we had discussions
- 51:48Speaker 2: and were like, what a horrible life. What a sad,
- 51:51Speaker 2: sorry bastard this guy is.
- 51:53Speaker 1: He probably wasn't that bad of a guy.
- 51:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, there was times when you could almost
- 52:00Speaker 2: have a conversation with him, but at any given moment,
- 52:03Speaker 2: it would turn into an ad on sale. Like, everything
- 52:08Speaker 2: like brainwashed by the corporation, like in a weird way
- 52:12Speaker 2: that like you couldn't go more than five or 10
- 52:14Speaker 2: minutes without some other tie in into doing a sales.
- 52:18Speaker 1: Well, it was like, you couldn't admit to that guy that, Oh, I,
- 52:23Speaker 1: I work here because I love movies and I love
- 52:25Speaker 1: talking to people about movies. It was, you had to be,
- 52:29Speaker 1: I love working here because I love trying to get
- 52:31Speaker 1: people to subscribe to entertainment weekly.
- 52:34Speaker 2: I want them to join up on our club. There's
- 52:37Speaker 2: another business now that pesters me every time I'm at
- 52:41Speaker 2: the register for something very similar that we used to
- 52:44Speaker 2: have to shove into people's faces. And like every time
- 52:47Speaker 2: I'm just like, no, on principle at this point, because
- 52:50Speaker 2: I've been where you are and that's bullshit and you
- 52:53Speaker 2: shouldn't have to do it either, but I'm not going
- 52:55Speaker 2: to buy into it. So yeah, the dumb things they
- 52:58Speaker 2: came up with to shove at people. And I, again,
- 53:01Speaker 2: I blamed him for a lot. Well, not really.
- 53:03Speaker 1: What I've learned from being on that side of the
- 53:05Speaker 1: selling side of the counter is Is that I would
- 53:07Speaker 1: rather have the person just be like, nope, and just
- 53:10Speaker 1: leave it at that. But when we go to places
- 53:13Speaker 1: like what you're talking about now, my wife wants.
- 53:15Speaker 11: To tell me more about it.
- 53:18Speaker 1: And it's like, no.
- 53:19Speaker 2: You're like, stop.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Because if it's the ones where it gets to, and
- 53:24Speaker 1: it's $ 14. 95 a year, that's when she's like, Well, I
- 53:28Speaker 1: probably won't use it.
- 53:30Speaker 2: And you've killed 15 minutes, period, all of that.
- 53:33Speaker 1: Meanwhile, I am hiding in the corner, crying.
- 53:37Speaker 2: Bad memories, bad memories. Read this Entertainment Weekly, and if
- 53:41Speaker 2: only it existed. Now it's monthly, but they still call
- 53:44Speaker 2: it Entertainment Weekly. Figure that out.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Well, at least they didn't just shorten it to its initials.
- 53:51Speaker 8: Ew.
- 53:53Speaker 2: When we're Entertainment Weekly, now we're ew. Someone gets fired
- 53:58Speaker 2: over that. I would only hope. Rebranding.
- 54:01Speaker 1: I feel like Entertainment Weekly only exists because teenagers tried
- 54:07Speaker 1: to or had to talk people into buying subscriptions of it.
- 54:10Speaker 4: At video stores.
- 54:11Speaker 2: See, I mean, I was a dork enough. I kind
- 54:13Speaker 2: of liked it for what it was. Like, it didn't
- 54:17Speaker 2: aim too high. Like, it was just because it was
- 54:19Speaker 2: so regular. Like, look, we got to get a bunch
- 54:22Speaker 2: of stuff out to fill this magazine and next week
- 54:23Speaker 2: we're doing another one. So, like, you didn't even have
- 54:25Speaker 2: time for it to be super interesting. It was just like, here,
- 54:28Speaker 2: we got some decent pictures of the thing that's coming
- 54:30Speaker 2: out next week.
- 54:31Speaker 6: Here.
- 54:31Speaker 2: And you'd get it just long enough to be like,
- 54:33Speaker 2: oh shit, there's another one. Hold on. Weekly is like
- 54:37Speaker 2: too much for a magazine.
- 54:42Speaker 6: I thought of plucky teen employees. I think Damien and
- 54:47Speaker 6: Janice from Mean Girls would be a fun duo to have.
- 54:52Speaker 6: They'd be like sarcastic and Jokey, but also into alternative stuff.
- 55:00Speaker 2: I don't know. I like Jane. I can see them
- 55:05Speaker 2: just kind of talking shit about the people that come in.
- 55:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 55:07Speaker 2: Like once they're out of earshot, they know well enough
- 55:10Speaker 2: to like loiter a little further away and just be like,
- 55:14Speaker 2: look at her outfit.
- 55:14Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 55:17Speaker 1: Can you believe he rented Private Benjamin again?
- 55:20Speaker 5: Again?
- 55:21Speaker 2: What is this, like, nine times?
- 55:23Speaker 6: I feel like Damien would also be, like, friendly enough
- 55:25Speaker 6: and into the movies enough that he would give great recommendations.
- 55:28Speaker 2: He could at least fake it, whereas Janice would be like,
- 55:31Speaker 2: eye roll. I'm not even talking to you, okay?
- 55:35Speaker 6: But then I could be like, Janice, is this thing cool?
- 55:38Speaker 2: She'd be like, oh. And I'd absolutely believe it. I'll
- 55:44Speaker 2: tell you. Don't you worry.
- 55:47Speaker 1: Oh, I wish I had one of those in real life.
- 55:49Speaker 1: This is cool.
- 55:52Speaker 2: I mean, you can ask any random teenager and they'll
- 55:54Speaker 2: tell you. First off, you're not. And second of all, no,
- 55:58Speaker 2: that's lame.
- 56:00Speaker 6: My teenage cousin is so much cooler than me.
- 56:02Speaker 2: I was just thinking, my cousin hit that point in
- 56:05Speaker 2: the last couple of years and now I don't even
- 56:07Speaker 2: bother talking unless something brings us to. Recently at Christmas,
- 56:12Speaker 2: he was pretty cool. But I remember I hear stories
- 56:16Speaker 2: now Of like things that he says to like my
- 56:19Speaker 2: parents or his parents. And I'm just like, oh man,
- 56:22Speaker 2: you are such a teenager. Like that just showed up overnight,
- 56:26Speaker 2: didn't it? Just like, oh, this is lame. You're all lame.
- 56:30Speaker 2: I don't even want to be here. I'm going to
- 56:31Speaker 2: my room.
- 56:32Speaker 1: I'm like, ah, flashbacks. Doesn't the fact that you recognize
- 56:35Speaker 1: that make you feel real?
- 56:36Speaker 2: I mean, I get it.
- 56:39Speaker 1: I've caught myself doing that.
- 56:40Speaker 2: Again, I'm there. I was there. I'm still kind of there.
- 56:43Speaker 2: But now I'm the old weird version of it. So like,
- 56:46Speaker 2: I don't know. But yeah, you definitely, you can ask
- 56:49Speaker 2: them and they'll tell you everything's lame. Universally, everything's lame.
- 56:54Speaker 1: But I knew that already.
- 56:56Speaker 2: Yeah, see? So it saves you a step. Don't talk
- 56:58Speaker 2: to kids.
- 57:00Speaker 1: That's the moral of the story.
- 57:01Speaker 2: Just don't talk to teenagers. Except maybe those two weirdos
- 57:05Speaker 2: hanging out at your store. Because they're at least entertaining.
- 57:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 57:09Speaker 2: Buddy, you're not pretending anymore.
- 57:11Speaker 13: You're plastic.
- 57:12Speaker 2: Cold, shiny, hard plastic.
- 57:15Speaker 1: Curfew, 1 a.m. and it's now 1.10.
- 57:16Speaker 2: Did you have an awesome time? Did you drink awesome
- 57:19Speaker 2: shooters and listen to awesome music and then just sit
- 57:22Speaker 2: around and soak up each other's awesomeness? Oh, let's see.
- 57:25Speaker 1: Of my other.
- 57:28Speaker 2: Random people. Again, we're not big enough to actually have
- 57:32Speaker 2: an HR department, but I constantly, well, I've worked a
- 57:36Speaker 2: couple of places in a row now that every day
- 57:39Speaker 2: I say things like, um, HR department. We're constantly saying
- 57:44Speaker 2: things that would get people fired. And I'm like, if
- 57:49Speaker 2: only I worked somewhere that had an HR department, but
- 57:52Speaker 2: I don't. So, and I'm fine with it actually. Like,
- 57:55Speaker 2: I think it's hilarious, but like, Somehow I'm the only
- 57:58Speaker 2: one that's self-aware enough to be like, you know, this
- 58:01Speaker 2: conversation would get you fired anywhere else, right? Just you
- 58:05Speaker 2: having this conversation right now. I had one three, two
- 58:09Speaker 2: to three days ago that I was just like, if
- 58:13Speaker 2: we even discussed what it is you were discussing in
- 58:15Speaker 2: detail right now, you would get fired at any corporate place.
- 58:21Speaker 2: It was, yeah.
- 58:23Speaker 1: Oh, I worked at a store that I was one of.
- 58:27Speaker 1: Six guys. There were probably 20 employees in the whole store.
- 58:32Speaker 1: And the things that the women would discuss, I'm like,
- 58:36Speaker 1: I'm cool, but damn.
- 58:38Speaker 2: No, that's the thing. Almost everywhere I've worked, a good
- 58:41Speaker 2: amount of my coworkers have been women. This specific one
- 58:45Speaker 2: I'm thinking of, it was three people in a room
- 58:47Speaker 2: the other day. I was the only guy. And they
- 58:50Speaker 2: were saying things that would have gotten anybody fired. Very
- 58:54Speaker 2: specific things, we'll say.
- 58:56Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 58:57Speaker 2: Very inappropriate, specific things. I've heard that too.
- 59:00Speaker 1: Women are gross. Yeah, for sure.
- 59:04Speaker 6: Yeah, my friends talk about that stuff all the time.
- 59:07Speaker 2: Yeah, which is fine, but again, it's weird. that I
- 59:10Speaker 2: was the only one that went guys you know yeah
- 59:14Speaker 2: I mean never mind go on with your conversation.
- 59:17Speaker 6: The way I've seen it you know for the history
- 59:20Speaker 6: of all time we've always been on the bad end
- 59:22Speaker 6: of sexual harassment in the workplace sure so I'm reclaiming enjoy.
- 59:27Speaker 2: It I mean I get that's why I'm like I'm
- 59:28Speaker 2: not gonna be like clutching at my pearls, because A,
- 59:33Speaker 2: I don't care, and B, yeah, it's gone the other
- 59:35Speaker 2: way forever. But I'm like, just so you know, you
- 59:39Speaker 2: can't normally talk about.
- 59:40Speaker 1: This stuff, right? I'm just saying, if you have a
- 59:42Speaker 1: group of guys standing around telling dirty stories, at least
- 59:45Speaker 1: one of them has the decency to look around.
- 59:48Speaker 2: Yeah, the women do not care. They're just like, let
- 59:52Speaker 2: me tell you about this one time. Launch into another story.
- 59:56Speaker 2: Don't matter who's in there.
- 59:57Speaker 11: So.
- 59:59Speaker 2: If I had an HR department, which I don't. But
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: I was trying to immediately, again, immediately, the first one
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: that came to me, I'm hiring Bonnie Hunt. Specifically, and
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: I was trying to remember, because it's funny that I
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: quote it almost daily. Granted, I'm saying to a dog,
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: but as I'm taking my dog out, and we're walking,
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: and we're walking, and we're stopping. And I was like,
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: was that the American president? It's in Dave's. Yeah. It's
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: the other president around that same time movie. But Bonnie
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: Hunt was in a ton of stuff at that time. So, yeah,
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: I was trying to remember. I was like, which one
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: is she, the tour guide? It's like she's super efficient,
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: kind of no nonsense, kind of not really listening to
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: what's going on half the time anyway. Yeah.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: But I feel like she would have a really foul
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: mouth for an HR person.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: I feel like she also knows when like you don't
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: see her throwing that out when the group of kids
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: that she's walking around are. But I feel like back
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: in the break room probably lets in lays out some
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: pretty scary stuff. But I feel like she would also
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: just sort of like she seemed very official in the
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: job as which I checked her credit is a White
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: House tour guide. They didn't even give her a name.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: So as she bumps up into the system, she gets
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: into the company and gets into the HR department. Those
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: are usually the higher end jobs. So she gets a
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: nice job out of it. But I also then started
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: working in like all of the scenarios that come up
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: are going to be like movie related as well. So
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: she'll be like, so anyway, as a new hire here,
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: first want to tell you that bust over there of
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: Sean Connery. Don't break it open. There's black goo in there.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: It causes all kinds of problems for me. So let
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: me just don't. Just stay away from the bust, all right?
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: And the Sour Patch Kids, too. We've had a few
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: reports of that. But mostly don't break that bust open.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: One of my many scenarios that come into it.
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: I'm changing my store name to LaserDisc and Sour Patch
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: Kids Depot.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: I love that.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: Continuing to hit this. I'm like, I'm driving the Sour
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: Patch Kids into the ground.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: I'm over here trying to come up with movie names
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: or video store names. And I feel like I'm coming
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: up with ones that are good in the real world,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: but aren't funny. Like movies at home, movies to go.
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: But I don't want to own that.
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: If we want to, this is just a random, but
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: it just reminded me of like weird. Like just matter
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: of fact kind of names. But then I never really
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: knew what their situation was. There was going way back
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: when I was a kid, there was one that was
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: sort of seemed super mom and pop because there was like,
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: I don't know if there was just one or if
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: there was maybe two in town. I feel like there
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: was two because they had commercials. So I think there
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: were like two and enough money to buy a commercial.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: But their name was Movies Tonight. And they had a
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: theme song that was Movies Tonight on video. And I
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: don't remember what the hell the rest of it went.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: But I number one thought it was like, again, very.
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: Like, go get yourself a movie tonight. Good thinking. Name
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: that store. Good for you. But the funniest story with
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: them was I remember when I was. a little bit older,
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: just dork enough to be like, I want to watch
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: the Oscars. So I am watching the Oscars in the
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: middle of the, I mean, which for the more highbrow crowd,
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: that's the Superbowl of the entertainment year. So I'm assuming
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: the ads go for around the same price, a little
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: less maybe than Superbowl ads, but that's gotta be a huge,
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: like bringing in your corporate accounts to like cover those.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: And then in the middle of it, they bust into
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: this Movies Tonight commercial that is.
- 1:03:58Speaker 9: Do.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: You remember the technology of living lips? They're basically like
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: the still image and they put human lips talking into
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: the cartoon.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: Kind of like the old clutch cargo cartoon.
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: Exactly like that. Only classic movie people. So I remember...
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: A version of Humphrey Bogart. And then I'm going, hey, sure.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: It's like, calm down and rent somebody. And it switched
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: to a bunch of different people.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: Why does this sound familiar?
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: I think I've seen this commercial. And that's what I'm like,
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: it busted into that in the middle of the Oscars
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: more than once. And the only thing, even at the time,
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: the only thing I could think of was, if you've
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: seen Used Cars... I'm pretty sure that's how they got
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: this commercial. I think some elaborate scam to bust into
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: the satellite feed and beam their own commercial into the
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: most watched thing of the night for movie geeks for
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: the year. And that's the only way I can imagine
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: that they would let a weird local in my mind,
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: unless it was some sort of chain that I didn't
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: know about. But yeah, movies tonight. What a weird... Random
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: ass memory.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: That's okay. I still remember the phone number from the Mr.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: Gaddy's commercials.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: Advertising works.
- 1:05:19Speaker 15: Yeah, it does.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: So, let's see. What else? Again, I feel like we're
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: not big enough to have our own security people. But
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: I immediately was just like, well, we're going to have
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: a security guard on staff all the time. It's obviously
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: Varla from Faster Pussycat Kill Kill. And yes, that uniform
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: is her uniform. I mean, just.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: Which ones of ours?
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: Dressed in... Well, Tura. Basically, I just want to hang
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: out with Tura Sedana all day.
- 1:05:45Speaker 8: Well, yeah.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: But you've done that.
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: And she has to wear the all-in-black and the leather
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: boots and leather gloves to just beat people's ass and
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: karate chop them if need be because she does do
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: some hi-yah. Hi-yah!
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: Well, nobody's returning their tapes without rewinding them more than once.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: Better... Yeah, you get one warning. She comes over and
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: has a little talk with you. And you'll rewind your
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: tape after that. So, yeah, we're hanging out with Varla.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: My security guard was Chris Farley. Specifically, Chris Farley as
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: the bus driver from Billy Madison.
- 1:06:21Speaker 7: Yes.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: Just screaming.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: He thinks he's being so slick by eating, you know.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: By getting into the whole popcorn thing. Him and Liev Schreiber,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: I swear to God.
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: Oh, now if we have a delivery guy that's bringing
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: stuff in, and again, if you're mom and pop, you
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: probably didn't. Maybe the drinks, because you just get like
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: a deal and they bring stuff to your place. But
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: I don't want to say Kevin James, but I see
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: him pushing a hand cart. He's got a dolly filled
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: with stuff and he's coming in the store. I don't
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: even know what character he is, but it's Kevin James
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: playing him.
- 1:07:04Speaker 6: Paul Blart delivery car.
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: It could be like Paul Blart gets fired because he's
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: a terrible cop. And yeah, he's got to go work
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: at some sort of shipping company. That's unusual for Kevin James,
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: I'm sure. He didn't do that ever in his career.
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: So yeah, I just, I don't want to, I don't
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: want him in there. He's just going to fall down and.
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: knock stuff over, but I just see him coming in
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: with a dolly full of drinks and probably Sour Patch Kids.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: I also suspect him for taking some.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Oh, sure, yeah.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: I jumped ahead to the creepy one, but I didn't
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: get into the strange regular customers. I'm thoroughly convinced that
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: Seymour from Ghost World comes in and has a special
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: order weird movies that none of us have ever heard of.
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: And he's like, I mean, you probably haven't heard of it,
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: but this one's really good and likes lots of documentaries.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: He probably has like a big collection of Super 8 films.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: I see that. But, you know, you can't really get,
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: and it's hard to find a good player now, so
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: I still got to come in here and rent stuff. So,
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: you know, anyway, see if you can get that by
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: next week.
- 1:08:13Speaker 5: Thanks, bud.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: They had to borrow my copy to run off a
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: print of this movie.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I've still got the original, but I'd
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: like to rent it if you can get it. I'd
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: like to see. i feel a kinship.
- 1:08:29Speaker 6: Mine's kind of similar in terms of a customer who
- 1:08:31Speaker 6: comes in and requests like really specific weird things but
- 1:08:34Speaker 6: it would be um quirky saint claire from waiting for
- 1:08:37Speaker 6: guffman played by christopher guest because a that's just my
- 1:08:41Speaker 6: favorite movie and he's like my favorite character of all
- 1:08:43Speaker 6: time but you know he would come in and want
- 1:08:45Speaker 6: like the classic like MGM musical but like he's watched
- 1:08:51Speaker 6: all of them a bajillion times so far so now
- 1:08:53Speaker 6: he's requesting you get all the weird hard to find
- 1:08:56Speaker 6: musicals that nobody wants to watch.
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: I'm guessing he starts singing every time he comes.
- 1:09:01Speaker 6: Yeah and i hope he would dance too i.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: Think he starts singing before he comes.
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: In probably comes in to the store mid-song he can.
- 1:09:10Speaker 6: Tell me about his community theater productions We'd be friends,
- 1:09:14Speaker 6: I think.
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: And the rest of the people are just like, oh, God,
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: not this guy.
- 1:09:18Speaker 6: I'd go see his show.
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: Not this guy.
- 1:09:20Speaker 6: Ooh, maybe he'd recruit me to be in his show.
- 1:09:24Speaker 6: That'd be fun.
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: I'd just see the rest of the employees, though. And
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: you're like, what? I like him. And they're like, oh, God.
- 1:09:31Speaker 6: He's too nice.
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: Please tell him to go.
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: Have you any creepy regulars?
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: Leif Schreiber?
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: No. He's definitely a weirdo.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: Lief Schreiber and.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: At least Cotton. You know, he's a little weird.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: And Crispin Glover.
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: I was trying to work in a version of, yeah,
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: like the George McFly version of Creepy Crispin that just
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: sort of hangs around.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: What's the movie?
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: Makes notes all the time. And I don't know what
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: he's writing down, but he's always got a notebook.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: What's the movie where he plays the assassin.
- 1:10:03Speaker 6: Charlie's Angels and he pulls out her hand that one yeah.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: He's constantly sniffing the movies and I don't.
- 1:10:10Speaker 6: Know why yeah he doesn't talk and he smells a
- 1:10:14Speaker 6: lot of things.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: Rents a whole lot of like you know German expressionist
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: films which somebody's gotta rent them.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: We'll see along those lines I always have Simone coming
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: in asking for French movies from Pee Wee's Big Adventure Oh, la, la.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: Do you have any French movies? She doesn't really speak French,
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: but she really wants to learn. And she's only learning
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: by renting bad movies. So she's going to get there, though.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: Don't you worry.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: Hey, I tried to learn French by watching The Goonies
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: with the French soundtrack. And after about 10 minutes, I said,
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: screw this. I'm just watching Goonies. I'm sure it was
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: going to work I mean It was one of my
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: favorite movies I knew what they were talking about.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: Anyway So yeah Simone I definitely needed her to come
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: in Constantly requesting some sort of weird French movie That
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: even she's never heard of Back to the creepy I
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: know I was like We gotta have a weird creepy
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: old lady Because there's always weird creepy old ladies Out
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: there in the world So my initial one was Mrs. Kirsch,
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: which actually I believe you said recently, Nora, you'd watched
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: the It's. Yeah. It chapter two when Jessica Chastain goes
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: to visit her old apartment.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: That lady.
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: Because I feel like she almost can pull off being normal.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: And then you're midway into a conversation and you realize
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: you're dealing with a weirdo. Do you have any movies
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: with Cary Grant in them? I like Charade, but... Like
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: two minutes of silence. I wanted more of his romantic comedy.
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: Like you're just like, oh God, this lady. So weird
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: old lady.
- 1:12:19Speaker 6: Her scene is way better in the book than in
- 1:12:21Speaker 6: the movie and I'm still mad about it.
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: I think I remember the scene. I haven't seen the movie,
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: but I remember the scene from the book where the
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: old lady with the tea.
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: Yeah. It's great. I stared at that book for hours.
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: It didn't do anything. But when I stared at the movie,
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: it told me a story.
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: So, movie's better. You raise a valid point.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: Just saying. You can't compare the two. You do a
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: totally different thing.
- 1:12:50Speaker 5: True that.
- 1:12:52Speaker 6: Another good old lady would be the one from Drag
- 1:12:55Speaker 6: Me to Hell. She'd be a good creepy old lady.
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: She'd probably vomit black goo into your mouth. A little
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: gypsy woman. It would be really disgusting.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: See, my old lady customer, and I would look forward
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: to her visits every day, would be the old lady
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: from Any Which Way But Loose, which I.
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: Don't remember her name. Now I'm just picturing Clyde coming in. Well,
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: she comes in with her occasion. Don't mess with him.
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: He comes in here for popcorn. He leaves. He doesn't
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: knock anything over, as long as you let him have popcorn.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: You don't? He's going to tear the fuck out of
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: this place. Rankings are freakishly strong. Don't mess with him.
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: Just let him have his popcorn. Oh, Clyde.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Unpleasant end that he was dealt.
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: I also, the last place, we were right in the
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: middle of a place that has lots of random homeless people.
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: So I'm like, well, we need to have a bum
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: hanging out up front. So I was like, well, I
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: want Red the bum. From Back to the Future.
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: That's who I would have picked.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: Because he doesn't mess with anybody. He just wants to
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: like get drunk and go to sleep. And like he
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: gets upset when other people disturb him. Like he's not
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: bugging anybody.
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: Which is reasonable.
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: Keeps to himself. And always kind of questioned like one
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: of two things. Because Marty knows him by name. So
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: I'm like either everyone in the small town knows the
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: like one bum they have.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: Well he used to be mayor.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: That's questionable. I've heard some people think that, and I
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: thought Bob Gale was like, we didn't write it that way.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: So I think it's just been adopted by fans now. Nope,
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: that's the story. I don't care what you creators did,
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: shut up.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: He has the same name as the mayor of 1955.
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: I don't even think that was really his name. Again,
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: I think in the scene, the.
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: red well that was that's just poor storytelling and i'll
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: be damned if anyone's gonna tell me that back to
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: the future is poor storytelling.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: Well no i kind of like the the story i
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: heard recently was the referring to him as red was
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: an ad lib by michael j fox and he just
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: said hey red you look great and that was all
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: just random michael j fox being michael j fox and
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: it was just like well that's kind of adorable because
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: he's michael j fox and like yeah But yeah, I
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: liked it, yeah, because Red just sort of keeps to himself,
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: and eventually you'll wake him up, and he'll be like,
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: crazy drunk movie renters, and then he'll go back to sleep,
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: and he just keeps to himself.
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: I like that about Red.
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess towns don't really have that one town
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: drunk anymore that everybody knows.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: Yeah, now there's just hundreds of people. So... We're trying
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: to put a less tragic spin on it. He's a
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: lovable guy that sleeps out in front of the store. Oh,
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: let's see. Have we hit most of ours?
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: I think so.
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: Does yours have a special event?
- 1:15:50Speaker 6: Yes.
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: Specifically, as soon as I thought, I was like, It's
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: Rex Manning Day. So like, what is your, that's in
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: your music store, but in your video store, what is
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: your equivalent to Rex Manning Day?
- 1:16:06Speaker 6: I want like a cult slash B horror movie festival
- 1:16:11Speaker 6: hosted by Peter Vincent of Fright Night, obviously.
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: All right. I am totally sold on this idea.
- 1:16:17Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:16:18Speaker 6: And they can like live broadcast it to the public
- 1:16:20Speaker 6: access channels of him doing his little bits in between.
- 1:16:24Speaker 6: It'd be very fun.
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: Or do we exist now? Because then you could just
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: stream it all to YouTube.
- 1:16:30Speaker 6: That too.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: Or some Facebook Live bullshit, or I don't know, something. Instagram.
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: Peter Vincent in the modern day, doing his TikTok dances
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: and whatnot. I don't know which version I'd want.
- 1:16:41Speaker 6: I'm fine with either.
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: Again, that's how I was with the other one. I'm like, actually,
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: both work. Just the character as a whole. You can
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: insert either version.
- 1:16:49Speaker 6: That's nice.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: We tried wet Wednesdays. All it was was Ernest spraying
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: people down with a fire hose, which sounded great on paper,
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: but didn't really translate. We had to replace so many windows,
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: not even our windows either.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: Neighboring windows. That is really getting out of control with
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: the hose, man.
- 1:17:15Speaker 6: I thought it would be like you're offering people martinis
- 1:17:17Speaker 6: with everything coming on Wednesday.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: That's what I thought. It was Ernest's idea.
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: You really should have read through the paperwork. On paper,
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: turns out it wasn't just a saying. He actually typed
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: it up. You're like, you're approved. And next thing you know,
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: breaking shit.
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: No, I showed up to pick something up, and there's
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: just wet people everywhere.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: These movies aren't going to work. They're all soggy. I
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: was thinking, again, this is not to spoil anything in
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: this movie. This is just a minor detail in it
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: that I thought was hilarious. In the last Blockbuster documentary,
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: one of the guys they're talking to is talking about
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: when he actually worked at the local one. And he's like,
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: there was this girl that used to come in and
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: rent stuff. And she looked just like Jamie Girtz. So
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: we started trying to have like a personal appearance with
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: Jamie Girtz and get this girl to come in and
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: pretend to be Jamie Girtz. And I was like, would
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: anybody care?
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: First of all, who's Jamie Girtz?
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: Most people wouldn't care if real Jamie Girtz was there.
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: Have you not seen The Lost Boys? Come on now.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: Yes, but.
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: Did you not watch Soul of Babies last week? Because
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: that was, I did actually. I found a copy of
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: it on DVD and I was like, man, I have
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: not seen that since Cable when I was five.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: If I'm being honest, my focus on The Lost Boys
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: was not the girls. It was The Lost Boys.
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: You just like to whisper. Michael Michael Michael.
- 1:18:53Speaker 6: She looks really familiar but I don't know she's in a.
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: Ton of stuff like she's in I mean she's in
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: like Crossroads Solar Babies Lost Boys like she was like
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: a huge.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: Actress in the 80s she looks like this is who
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: we'll call if Courtney Cox is unavailable.
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: She's way cooler than Courtney Cobb.
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: Oh, I agree.
- 1:19:13Speaker 15: I agree.
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: Like, I already am starting to remember her for some.
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: Yeah, she was in a ton of stuff, movie-wise, and then, like,
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: in the... I feel like maybe early 2000s, she was
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: on a sitcom.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: She was in Less Than Zero.
- 1:19:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: See, she's in a huge.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: Yeah, she was on Still Standing.
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: See, that's the one. That's the one. Oh, yeah, I've
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: already forgot about The Neighbors. That did not last long.
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: She is part owner of the Atlanta Hawks of the
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: National Basketball Association.
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: Already have lost interest.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: So I like that idea of finding someone that comes
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: in the store that kind of looks like a celebrity
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: and then trying to sucker people into thinking it's the
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: actual celebrity. Because then the guy's telling the story and
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: he's like, they found a picture of them with like.
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: poster board going, Jamie Girtz is coming. And then there's
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: a picture of the girl and he's like, yeah, she
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: really doesn't look that much like Jamie Girtz. And they
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: show her and I'm like, not really. I mean, similar
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: enough that I could be like, oh, I see what
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: you're saying, but I wouldn't mistake her for Jamie Girtz. So,
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: I want to have a fake Jamie Girtz day and
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: then see if real Jamie Girtz shows up to have
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: a rumble or something.
- 1:20:24Speaker 6: That could be fun if you just made a bunch
- 1:20:25Speaker 6: of different days for random... actors that nobody really knows
- 1:20:31Speaker 6: and then maybe one day one.
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: Of them will show up well then i'll be like
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: thanks again if we were in the real world i
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: was like now who do we actually know that we
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: could sucker in i'm like oh we're having a doug
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: jay yes doug day's coming up and i figured you
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: would be on board.
- 1:20:44Speaker 6: With that so we.
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: Will also have a doug jones day and as long
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: as we like you know i'm sure we'll have to
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: pay to fly him on in and stuff like that
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: gets get him a nice hotel but He'd probably be
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: up for it. We can talk him into it.
- 1:20:57Speaker 6: He would do it.
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: I think so.
- 1:20:59Speaker 6: I love him.
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: We'll pitch it next time we see it. This video
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: store that we don't have, will you come do a
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: Doug day?
- 1:21:09Speaker 6: I'm sure he'd be like, what?
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: He'd be like, yeah. Wait, what are you talking about?
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: I know which Doug you're talking about, but I'm picturing
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: Doug the cartoon character.
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: Oh.
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: I don't want him at all.
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:21:21Speaker 8: Oh.
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: Doug Jones Day. That's how you wake up every day now.
- 1:21:26Speaker 6: It's the best day of the year.
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: You go sliding around your house. Doug Jones Day. Getting
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: so excited.
- 1:21:38Speaker 6: It'd be made up of watching the weirdest things. Be like,
- 1:21:43Speaker 6: I'm going to watch that really old McDonald's commercial where
- 1:21:45Speaker 6: he has a moon for a head.
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: I keep forgetting that was him.
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:21:50Speaker 6: I'm going to watch Hocus Pocus. I'm going to watch
- 1:21:53Speaker 6: some Guillermo del Toro movies. Some combination.
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: Every Guillermo del Toro movie.
- 1:21:59Speaker 6: Watch that episode of Masters of Horror where he played
- 1:22:01Speaker 6: a Wendigo. He's in it.
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: He's in it. Tons of Star Trek episodes now. Oh, yeah,
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: Star Trek. That's a huge gig these days.
- 1:22:08Speaker 6: Apparently, he was almost picked to play Pennywise, too.
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: I can see that. I can see that.
- 1:22:15Speaker 6: Which would have been great.
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: Along those lines, though, back to the other version. You
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: brought up earlier today that you might be able to
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: hook me up with an in-store appearance of Clint Howard.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: Yeah, well, yes.
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: Please enlighten them.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: Well, at work, I recently discovered there's a guy who
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: works in a different department than me who looks exactly
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: like Clint Howard. And I haven't actually spoken to him,
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: but I have heard him talk to other people, and
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: he only speaks in Spanish.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: Spanish Clint Howard is going to bring people in.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: Every time I see that guy, I feel not so
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: bad about being at work.
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: I'm going to start working on the poster boards now.
- 1:23:04Speaker 6: You should write him a little card. You brighten my days.
- 1:23:08Speaker 6: From a guy you don't know. Thank you for looking
- 1:23:13Speaker 6: like Clint Howard. Bet you don't know who that is.
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: He just takes it.
- 1:23:18Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: He seems like a nice guy, so he'd probably be like.
- 1:23:24Speaker 5: Ah, yeah.
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: We can lure you in with free Sour Patch Kids.
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: There we go. So I'm going to start working on
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: the poster boards now. Come see the Ice Cream Man.
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: People will be like, do we get ice cream? You're misunderstanding.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: Out of all of the blockbuster movies. That's the one
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: I'm going with. That's what you pick.
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: That's how the line's going to be out the door
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: once they know the Ice Cream Man's coming.
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: Not even Come See Gentleman, or the Star of Gentleman.
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: Nope. Nobody remembers that show. Or Circus Boy.
- 1:23:54Speaker 11: Or no, wait.
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: Was that Mickey Dolenz? That was Mickey Dolenz. Never mind.
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: Water Boy. Remember that guy who rented a limo in
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: Night Shift? That guy. Remember that guy in Apollo 13
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: that was like not really running the show? That guy.
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: Remember that?
- 1:24:11Speaker 10: Hold on.
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: Let me run down the list of his brother's movies.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: Remember that?
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: Remember Cocoon.
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: That guy.
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: Did Ron Howard do Splash?
- 1:24:23Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought so. I don't remember him being in that, though.
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: I'm sure he is. There are people that he's not.
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: There's weird things, but then somehow he still worked him
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: into Solo. Figure out the other ones he didn't. How
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: do you get him in Solo, but you can't put
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: him in this random regular movie? I guess he was
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: on a available.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: When I did watch Ice Cream Man, the whole time
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: I was sitting there hoping for a ron howard cameo
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: it only seems fair.
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: Yeah i guess he'd have to direct it did he
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: direct it i sadly i don't know if he directed
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: it i feel like not but i could be wrong.
- 1:25:03Speaker 15: Oh god all right what other specific notes about your
- 1:25:11Speaker 15: store do we need to round this insanity up i
- 1:25:15Speaker 15: went through all.
- 1:25:15Speaker 6: Mine yeah Ooh, it's got to have that fun carpet
- 1:25:20Speaker 6: with black background and then really bright confetti.
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: All over it. I want that carpet. Mine might have
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: film reels spooling around the room. Those are really overwhelming
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: once you get into a giant room. I do feel
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: like one of them here had that. I'm remembering as
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: part of a chain, and I'm assuming the entire chain
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: bought enough to get this carpet made up, so it actually...
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: It had stars and film reels spooling around the place
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: and actual loose film going around. Once you got in,
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: because they had a pretty big store, it was a
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: lot to undertake. Just aesthetically, it was overpowering. I'm a
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: geek that likes random film anywhere. You can spool some
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: film up here or there, but this was a lot
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: to take.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: Do you all let people, let the public use your bathrooms?
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: That was always troubling.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: We used to, but they kept running off with the
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: little Oscar statuettes that we.
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: Had attached to the keys. Not the keys.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: They'd leave the keys. They'd just take the little statues.
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: Again, it was not a fancy one in the most
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: recent outing, but it was always weird because they had
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: decorated it. with like random cutouts of movie stars and
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: again their versions of movie stars which was probably like
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: here's a picture of jamie kurtz but like it was
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: always like weird random stuff it's not like it was
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: like mainstream stuff because they were a weird bunch of
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: people obviously so um yeah they just had all kinds
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: of weird stuff on the walls in there so it
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: was always weird to me that like some of the
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: regulars would be like hey man can i use the
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: bathroom and then they'd let them and i'd be like
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: gotta explain that they walk in there expecting a normal
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: public restroom and you're just like the hell's going on
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: in here.
- 1:27:15Speaker 6: They're all watching you pee.
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: I mean some people are into that but they're usually
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: in the beaded room.
- 1:27:22Speaker 12: I'd also feel like it depends on which celebrity is
- 1:27:27Speaker 12: watching me pee i'm not okay with any of them
- 1:27:30Speaker 12: but i think i would be better with some of them.
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: David jamie cover your eyes.
- 1:27:39Speaker 6: Clint Howard.
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: Oh, no, I'm fine with Clint Howard. That seems all right.
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: Like, I feel like if Matthew McConaughey were in the
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: bathroom with me while I was doing my business.
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: He wouldn't care.
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: Like, he'd just talk about, hey, all right, all right,
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: whatever we were talking about before.
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: Just be handing you some toilet paper. You know, be like,
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: hold on, bud, I got you. Another roll. So now
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: we're inviting random celebrities to come use our bathroom. Sure.
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: I don't want the public to, but if you're in
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: a movie, you can come use our bathroom. I think
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: that's our policy. Only employees and movie stars can use
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: our bathroom. General public, you're out the door. You can
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: go hit the McDonald's down the street. Was it all
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: that you dreamed of? oh yes because i literally did
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: and i didn't know where we were going so it was.
- 1:28:36Speaker 6: Harder than i thought it was i was like why
- 1:28:38Speaker 6: am i forgetting every movie that i've ever seen in
- 1:28:40Speaker 6: my entire.
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: Life that's why mine is such a weird accumulation because
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: when i tried to think of them it didn't work
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: it was only the ones that i was just like
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: the first dumb thought i was like well yep obviously
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: that obviously everybody first thing they think of is bonnie
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: hunt sure.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: I mean No, I put a lot into the Ernest character,
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: possibly a little too much.
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: You are writing a separate story now, is what you're saying.
- 1:29:05Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: He's going to have his own spinoff out of this
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: fictional thing that never happened.
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: Which, really, I feel like you could just take any
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: Ernest movie and change the setting to a video store.
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: I'm surprised he didn't get to that one. I mean,
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: he went to Africa, but he didn't go to a
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: video store? It seems a little crazy.
- 1:29:24Speaker 11: I mean.
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: He saved Christmas, for God's sake.
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: Yeah, you'd think after that people would stop giving him
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: a hard time. But next thing you know, he's back
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: in jail. All right, wrapping up our earnest talk there.
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: I feel like it's time to round this one out.
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: If you enjoyed this weird little journey, tell us what
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: your store is.
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: You know, write in.
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: Hey, you can record it. Send us a voicemail. Send
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: us a WAV file, MP3.
- 1:29:54Speaker 6: Laser disc.
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: If you can put it on Laserdisc, I'm going to
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: get out some of my choice cuts for Nora next time.
- 1:30:01Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: Be like, were you looking to watch The Reflecting Skin
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: on Laserdisc? Because I do own it. Thank you very much. So, yeah.
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: The Reflecting Skin.
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: We should put that on the list. Someone make that
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: your choice and put the reflecting skin on the list.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: Have you seen the live action Super Mario Brothers with
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo? I love that movie. And
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: Dennis Hopper. I know you do.
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: And by the way, I'm pretty sure I have it
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: on my laser disc.
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: You do have it on laser disc. I watched it
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: at your house on laser disc.
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: Why did I forget that and yet I'm not surprised?
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: That does sound like me.
- 1:30:42Speaker 6: What a cast.
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: Samantha Mathis, thank you very much. Daisy is my girl. Anyway,
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: so yeah, we want to hear what your video store
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: is like. I've thought about if anyone cares about this idea,
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: we can open it up and I can go to
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: other people and be like, all right, now you give
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: me some. Any of the other rotating weirdos on this
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: show and be like, all right, come up with a
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: store for us and we'll continue this series together. That
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: no one asked for. That invaded my unconscious mind. So,
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: if you're one of those people that enjoyed it, let
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: us know and give us your picks. So, email in now.
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: Anything else to pass along?
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: I got nothing.
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: Free popcorn?
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: Yes, free popcorn.
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: Free popcorn.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: With purchase.
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: With purchase. Cotton.
- 1:31:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: Otherwise, that about does it. We will return next time.
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: Same geek feed. Thanks for listening. Stay away from the
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: damn silent patch.
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: Bye, everybody.
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: When I walked.
- 1:32:09Speaker 11: Into the room I wasn't thinking anything but maybe I
- 1:32:15Speaker 11: would rent a flick that a guy would As I'm
- 1:32:19Speaker 11: talking to myself I saw her reach for the top
- 1:32:24Speaker 11: shelf right for the fade of black that I knew.
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: It was over I fall apart.
- 1:32:30Speaker 11: Cause you've got a late charge on my heart If
- 1:32:33Speaker 11: it's alright with you We'll meet in the previously viewed
- 1:32:39Speaker 11: Sometimes I try to replay.
- 1:32:42Speaker 6: It in my mind But who.
- 1:32:45Speaker 11: Am I kidding you I won't forget that time in
- 1:32:48Speaker 11: the video store.
- 1:32:57Speaker 6: That time in the video store.
- 1:33:10Speaker 11: Now here we are, in the second verse, looking worse
- 1:33:14Speaker 11: than the first, don't wanna end up like my man
- 1:33:17Speaker 11: Fred Durst, cause he.
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: Did it all for the nookie.
- 1:33:20Speaker 11: When she looked up, I thought I must be dreaming,
- 1:33:25Speaker 11: she had the eyes of an angel even, think.
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: I might have saw wings, I'm leaving. I fall apart.
- 1:33:32Speaker 11: Cause you've got a late charge on my heart If
- 1:33:36Speaker 11: it's alright with you, we'll meet in.
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: The previous review.
- 1:33:41Speaker 14: Sometimes I try to.
- 1:33:44Speaker 11: Play it in my mind But who am I kidding you,
- 1:33:48Speaker 11: I won't forget that time in the video store.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: That time in the video store.
- 1:34:12Speaker 11: Every time I think I see you I won't.
- 1:34:16Speaker 9: Forget that nobody else could.
- 1:34:19Speaker 11: Ever do what you did to me On that night
- 1:34:24Speaker 11: I saw.
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: You there so unexpected I could care less.
- 1:34:28Speaker 9: Who else was there I've been infected So infected by you.
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: Wow, apparently there's a video on YouTube that's titled, Man
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: Shoveling Snow on a Unicycle, Dressed as Darth Vader While
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: Playing Flaming Bagpipes.
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: So, I know what we're watching next week. We're walking,
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: we're walking, and we're stopping.
