- 0:29Speaker 1: to take away from this episode, because you see Willy
- 0:32Speaker 1: one show right now, I'm zooming in. I'm from my house.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Operation Christmas Chaos is upon us. This New York Air
- 0:40Speaker 1: has taken down my entire family. I'm sitting in the
- 0:42Speaker 1: barracks right now. We got Miss Rachel going on outside
- 0:45Speaker 1: to kind of keep the kids a little busy. Well
- 0:48Speaker 1: mom sick Mom tries to keep them corrald. I'm like, sweetheart,
- 0:50Speaker 1: I just need we're keeping this one. By the way,
- 0:53Speaker 1: we were keeping this one under an hour today. Gentlemen,
- 0:55Speaker 1: this is a challenge. Operation Christmas Chaos operation. Keep it
- 0:59Speaker 1: under an hour. We're right up for you to join us.

- 1:05Speaker 1: of our channels Spotify, Apple, Google, Amazon. If you're watching
- 1:09Speaker 1: us right now on YouTube, make sure you are subscribed
- 1:12Speaker 1: on YouTube. Believe comments throughout the episode. The community is
- 1:16Speaker 1: what makes this thing great. And by the way, speaking
- 1:18Speaker 1: of Spotify Voice, I have a hey, Spotify comments are
- 1:22Speaker 1: off the charts.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Yees.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Spotify comments are going nutso.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Relatively speaking, compared to like how this kind of small
- 1:28Speaker 1: operation started. You get single digit comments, maybe hit ten
- 1:31Speaker 1: every now and then. But now that we have the
- 1:33Speaker 1: video out there on Spotify, I'm seeing like over fifty comments.
- 1:38Speaker 4: It is.
- 1:38Speaker 3: It's from being in the industry, like the podcast industry.
- 1:43Speaker 3: It is very interesting to see how many secos are you. Like,
- 1:47Speaker 3: Thank god y'all finally have video on Spotify. I was unaware.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I was unaware of it.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Neither.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I'm gonna send back scrolling us. I like seeing like
- 1:55Speaker 1: comments and everything else. After I posted the dad con,
- 1:59Speaker 1: the code read everything going on at the house and
- 2:01Speaker 1: I'm sitting there looking at you or I'm sitting there
- 2:03Speaker 1: looking at Spotify. And by the way, if you guys
- 2:05Speaker 1: are listening on Spotify now or Spotify right now. Make
- 2:08Speaker 1: sure you're following the Ford the Dad's channel on Spotify
- 2:11Speaker 1: because that one is automated AD free. But I'm sitting
- 2:13Speaker 1: here going through and I see this comment from kJ
- 2:15Speaker 1: for the Dad's PT six Siko or PT six Echo
- 2:20Speaker 1: as the real ones like to refer to it as.
- 2:22Speaker 1: He's like, really, really really love the Spotify video.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Boys.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I've been trying to limit my scream time lately and
- 2:27Speaker 1: deleted YouTube because it was controlling me constantly and taking
- 2:29Speaker 1: my attention away from my son and wife expecting baby
- 2:32Speaker 1: number two in May.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Congratulations on that, kJ.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Now I can watch the pod and have no temptation
- 2:37Speaker 1: to start doom scrolling YouTube shorts. You guys are the best.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Love you boys, kJ for the Dad's pt sikoh.
- 2:45Speaker 3: kJ has got a play in my twenty twenty six playbooks.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Yeah, but I was.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I was elated, but all to say, the community is
- 2:54Speaker 1: why we do this thing. The community is why is
- 2:56Speaker 1: why we're showing up. Because I was hitting the boys up,
- 2:58Speaker 1: I was like, hey, fellas, there's really no full obligation,
- 3:02Speaker 1: Like we don't have to do an episode this week
- 3:04Speaker 1: how's everybody feeling. I don't feel like I should come
- 3:06Speaker 1: in like I'm not sick. I don't feel sick. I
- 3:09Speaker 1: feel great, But I don't really know the proper etiquette
- 3:12Speaker 1: for everybody else. Like I know guys in the shop,
- 3:14Speaker 1: they have families, Like I'm like a carrier, I guess,
- 3:17Speaker 1: so to speak. I don't want to come in the
- 3:19Speaker 1: week of Christmas. It feels any other week I would
- 3:21Speaker 1: be in there, but the week of Christmas if somebody
- 3:25Speaker 1: were to get taken down right before they start their
- 3:27Speaker 1: travel planes, I would feel like hell because I know
- 3:30Speaker 1: it was coming from me bringing it in the shop.
- 3:32Speaker 1: So there's a part of us we were kind of
- 3:33Speaker 1: doubtful with doing the episode this week.
- 3:36Speaker 2: It was.
- 3:37Speaker 3: There was some back and forth via our group text
- 3:41Speaker 3: and Will and I had some phone calls as far
- 3:44Speaker 3: as how do we go about this, because we knew
- 3:48Speaker 3: the SI goes, it's Christmas time, it's the holidays, and
- 3:51Speaker 3: maybe viewership across the board around the holidays for any
- 3:54Speaker 3: type of media other than movies with your family, it's
- 3:58Speaker 3: probably going down a little bit as far as digital
- 4:01Speaker 3: media goes. But we know that if the Sickos want
- 4:05Speaker 3: the Christmas episode the sicko's gotta have the Christmas episode.
- 4:09Speaker 3: That was the message from I feel like everybody on
- 4:12Speaker 3: the team from.
- 4:14Speaker 1: The Gain in this moment, specifically, this episode screams authenticity.
- 4:19Speaker 2: This is fatherhood right here.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Like we usually record whether the last couple of weeks,
- 4:26Speaker 1: it's been like Sunday night just because I'll jampacked the
- 4:28Speaker 1: schedule's been. But usually we kind of identify like a
- 4:32Speaker 1: night time if we can't do Friday during the day.
- 4:34Speaker 1: And again I was out last week because we were
- 4:36Speaker 1: doing Christmas in New York, which I can't wait to
- 4:38Speaker 1: talk about Christmas in New York.
- 4:40Speaker 3: I think we need to start the sode with we.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Will and also any for parents out there, I'm not
- 4:48Speaker 1: imagining your kids sit there and watch with you, but
- 4:51Speaker 1: we get into Sana talk, so just beware that there
- 4:53Speaker 1: will be some Sana talk on this episode.
- 4:57Speaker 2: But again, we were looking to do Sunday night.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I call up Sharing our up the Boy, hit up
- 5:00Speaker 1: the Boys and talk about how Rue's been sick.
- 5:02Speaker 2: She's running like a one o three one oh four fever.
- 5:04Speaker 1: If he hits the one oh five plus that's what
- 5:06Speaker 1: it's kind of like an emergency, And she was running
- 5:10Speaker 1: one O three, one oh four, and wasn't getting better
- 5:13Speaker 1: on Sunday. So I kind of hit the boys like, hey,
- 5:15Speaker 1: can we push the Monday because it's kind of chaotic
- 5:18Speaker 1: at the house right now. So we were pushing a Monday.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Monday rolls around, I'm in the shop, get home, Bam,
- 5:25Speaker 1: Scotti's down.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Then Mom goes down, so it's just your boy left standing.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, fellas, our nanny she's eight months pregnant,
- 5:32Speaker 1: so she doesn't want to get sick. In laws are
- 5:35Speaker 1: in laws are unavailable? Uh there there work in or
- 5:39Speaker 1: whatever whatever's going on. We don't have in laws. We
- 5:41Speaker 1: just don't have childcare. Since everybody was down, I'm like, hey,
- 5:44Speaker 1: I kind of can't. I'm not able to come in,
- 5:47Speaker 1: Like can we do it Tuesday morning? And then I
- 5:50Speaker 1: hit up Taylor about because he's got a Christmas party.
- 5:53Speaker 1: As you're listening right now, Taylor Lawan he had they
- 5:56Speaker 1: have like a family little Christmas party where they have
- 5:58Speaker 1: a lot of us, like close friends.
- 6:00Speaker 2: We go over.
- 6:00Speaker 1: We kind of do it every year to where we
- 6:02Speaker 1: do White Elephant, we do all the things Gingerbread House,
- 6:06Speaker 1: and so I kind of tell him, I'm like, hey,
- 6:08Speaker 1: the other three they're down right now. If anybody comes
- 6:10Speaker 1: and shows face tomorrow, it'd be me. But right now
- 6:13Speaker 1: I'm still up in there if I'm even going to come.
- 6:16Speaker 2: By and do that.
- 6:17Speaker 1: And then I was like, also, let me know if
- 6:19Speaker 1: you feel uncomfortable with me coming, because again I feel
- 6:21Speaker 1: totally fine.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Yahda YadA YadA. He's like, we gotta ask you, we
- 6:25Speaker 2: gotta get you. You're you're no longer on the.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Guest list, and I'm like, oh, it's just business. I
- 6:32Speaker 1: get action from the Christmas party. I'm sitting there at
- 6:34Speaker 1: night thinking like, okay, so should I go in and
- 6:36Speaker 1: do the locker room tomorrow? Like again, I don't want
- 6:38Speaker 1: to get anybody sick right for Christmas, So.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I was out of the locker room.
- 6:44Speaker 1: The bus with the boys or YouTube channel where we
- 6:47Speaker 1: have a locker room in the NFL show was not
- 6:50Speaker 1: part of that, and so we're kind of scrambling on
- 6:53Speaker 1: for the dance and then we kind of came like hey,
- 6:55Speaker 1: Saran was like, if I come and drop off all
- 6:57Speaker 1: the presents because we got gifts here, we got Christmas
- 6:59Speaker 1: cards that fans sent in. Dropped him off of my
- 7:04Speaker 1: at my house. He ran a solo mission dropped him
- 7:06Speaker 1: at my front door. Hey, package delivered. You have all
- 7:09Speaker 1: this stuff, We have our comments, we have everything that
- 7:11Speaker 1: we usually do on for the dads.
- 7:13Speaker 2: You know we got to do is set it up
- 7:14Speaker 2: via zoom.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Well, shout out the other fold too. It is shout
- 7:18Speaker 3: out Derek for doing the show prep on Friday of
- 7:22Speaker 3: last week or else this would have been a disaster
- 7:25Speaker 3: because if we were able to give you the show
- 7:29Speaker 3: note prep. Uh as far as that, because Derek is
- 7:33Speaker 3: out of town.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Yeah, there deeps out of town. The puncal is out
- 7:37Speaker 2: of him. He went out back out the Pittsburgh.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Yes.
- 7:41Speaker 2: So yeah, the show was close to.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Not not going down. But I'm glad we got to
- 7:44Speaker 1: make it work. If at any moment I have to
- 7:47Speaker 1: pause and dip and help with something again, We're in
- 7:50Speaker 1: the This is just we are We're yes, you are
- 7:55Speaker 1: in because in it, we are in it with you.
- 7:59Speaker 3: And I feel I feel terrible because I brought some
- 8:02Speaker 3: cookies up to uh the office, and I was like,
- 8:06Speaker 3: oh man, I didn't even take cookies over to Willie
- 8:09Speaker 3: sees how so I might have to go drop off
- 8:11Speaker 3: some cookies at y'all's place. I don't know if that's
- 8:14Speaker 3: what sick people want.
- 8:15Speaker 2: But I mean, hally cookies.
- 8:17Speaker 1: So I'm like, I can go without cookies, like until
- 8:20Speaker 1: I think about the car detail. I got everybody in
- 8:22Speaker 1: the shop, and then I think, damn sure, I'm could
- 8:24Speaker 1: just drive over handmade a couple of cookies.
- 8:26Speaker 2: No, I won't hold that against you whatsoever.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Then it's settled. The cookies will be will be delivered. Which,
- 8:35Speaker 3: by the way, thank you for the detail. The car detailing.
- 8:39Speaker 3: I was dead and sick. Actually when my car got detailed,
- 8:44Speaker 3: the guy came to my house. Did you know that?
- 8:46Speaker 2: Oh did he really?
- 8:48Speaker 3: Yes, it's because I was sick. Awesome home and Germ
- 8:51Speaker 3: talked to the car detailer for everybody listening. Uh, will
- 8:55Speaker 3: as a Christmas present, got everybody a car detail, and
- 8:59Speaker 3: they it's one of those ones where they come to
- 9:01Speaker 3: you and yeah, I was sick and out last week
- 9:05Speaker 3: on Friday, and that was when my car was scheduled
- 9:08Speaker 3: against detailing. The guy came to our freaking house and
- 9:10Speaker 3: did it. Dude, it's a legend.
- 9:13Speaker 2: You bring it up, being sick. It's like there's something
- 9:15Speaker 2: there's always something going around, but.
- 9:18Speaker 1: The fact that we're experiencing right now, like I have
- 9:20Speaker 1: my boy nick Hala, you mentioned him having kid number
- 9:23Speaker 1: three last week, hits me up and talks about Ay,
- 9:27Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 9:27Speaker 2: It sounds like you're in hell right now.
- 9:29Speaker 1: We've been unlucky each year having sick kiddos on Christmas time,
- 9:32Speaker 1: So my heart goes out to the families that have
- 9:35Speaker 1: sick kids and chaos is happening.
- 9:37Speaker 2: During Christmas time.
- 9:37Speaker 1: This is the first kind of year Scotty being one
- 9:40Speaker 1: and rubying three to where the stress is at an
- 9:42Speaker 1: all time.
- 9:42Speaker 2: We got family coming in.
- 9:44Speaker 1: My dad's texting me like, hey, is it as bad
- 9:46Speaker 1: as you're making a seam on social media?
- 9:48Speaker 2: I'm coming.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I don't want to be on my ass YadA, YadA,
- 9:51Speaker 1: YadA everybody right now. Currently as we sit here, Scotty,
- 9:57Speaker 1: he's the only one with a fever right now, she's
- 9:58Speaker 1: still rocking like a one or two, one o three
- 10:01Speaker 1: Charles fevers went down for the moment, Ruth woke up.
- 10:04Speaker 2: She had a great night of sleep, so she's feeling better.
- 10:07Speaker 5: Good.
- 10:08Speaker 1: So we just got to keep stacking. We got to
- 10:11Speaker 1: keep stacking. W's, man, you gotta keep s back in W's.
- 10:15Speaker 3: It's funny that you bring up your dad. My Dad
- 10:17Speaker 3: did the exact same thing because of your social media stuff,
- 10:21Speaker 3: and he knew that I was sick too. He's coming
- 10:23Speaker 3: up for Christmas. Yeah, what exactly are we talking about?
- 10:28Speaker 3: You know, like I'm coming up, I'm coming out. I
- 10:31Speaker 3: don't want you to think I'm not coming But like
- 10:33Speaker 3: what you know, is Jill sick right now? Like is
- 10:35Speaker 3: Scarlet sick? What's going on?
- 10:36Speaker 2: Like you were sick a few days last week?
- 10:38Speaker 1: Now we was on the internet yelling at his phone
- 10:40Speaker 1: talking about how he's at war with New York City
- 10:44Speaker 1: in New York. A Christmas in New York, boys, you
- 10:47Speaker 1: want to hear about Christmas in New York would love.
- 10:49Speaker 2: To So I alluded.
- 10:55Speaker 1: I talked about it a little bit on busting with
- 10:56Speaker 1: the boys. But we are like all the things we do.
- 11:00Speaker 1: We got the four, the Deat Spot, all the busts
- 11:02Speaker 1: and stuff, like my life is a lot of football,
- 11:05Speaker 1: a lot of football mixing all the family stuff like
- 11:07Speaker 1: as we go throughout the year. But as you guys know,
- 11:09Speaker 1: during football season right now, like we are in peak
- 11:13Speaker 1: football season, college football playoffs going on over the weekend.
- 11:16Speaker 1: You got December football in the NFL happening, where things
- 11:19Speaker 1: are unfolding, like I got to do the TV thing
- 11:21Speaker 1: on ESPN, Like you're always wanting to have some substance,
- 11:24Speaker 1: like as.
- 11:24Speaker 2: You talk about games.
- 11:25Speaker 1: But I feel like as we've gotten later in the year,
- 11:27Speaker 1: as we're in Christmas season in December, it kind of
- 11:30Speaker 1: like my tension kind of gets pulled everywhere to where
- 11:33Speaker 1: I always feel like I'm behind the eight ball. But
- 11:35Speaker 1: my wife and God love her, I love her. Dearly
- 11:40Speaker 1: wife wants to do Christmas in New York. Wife wants
- 11:43Speaker 1: to do Christmas in New York. I do my best
- 11:45Speaker 1: to make everybody happy. Like the Bust with the Boys,
- 11:47Speaker 1: they wanted to go to college football playoff for A
- 11:49Speaker 1: and m Miami, Oklahoma, Alabama. My wife wants to do
- 11:52Speaker 1: Christmas in New York. We got to find a weekend
- 11:54Speaker 1: to do Christmas in New York. So I got to
- 11:56Speaker 1: finagle it around other things going on.
- 11:58Speaker 2: On my schedule. So we find a date to do
- 12:00Speaker 2: Christmas in New York.
- 12:00Speaker 1: It happened to be last week whenever we fly out
- 12:02Speaker 1: to do ESPN in New York. Hey, I'm gonna take
- 12:05Speaker 1: the family with me. We're gonna fly out Wednesday. We'll
- 12:07Speaker 1: fly out earlier. We'll get there earlier, and then we'll
- 12:10Speaker 1: stay there all the way through like the middle of
- 12:12Speaker 1: the day Saturday, and we will do We'll get it.
- 12:14Speaker 1: We'll get in an hotel on Central Park, like, we'll
- 12:16Speaker 1: do all the Christmas stuff that she has in her
- 12:17Speaker 1: mind that she wants to do. Because I have no clue.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Like I've heard about Christmas in New York. Everybody swears
- 12:22Speaker 1: you have to go do Christmas in New York. But
- 12:24Speaker 1: as a Middle America male, who I don't. I don't
- 12:31Speaker 1: desire to travel everywhere. Like That's one thing I love
- 12:33Speaker 1: about my wife. She's adventure. She's gotten me out of
- 12:35Speaker 1: my shell. She's got me uncomfortable. Let's go do this vacation.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Let's go travel here, Let's go see this part of
- 12:39Speaker 1: the world.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Yea, I do in New York.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I could sit in the hotel room the entire time
- 12:44Speaker 1: and I could be completely happy. I could not leave
- 12:46Speaker 1: my house and I could be completely happy. I'll get
- 12:49Speaker 1: a little stir crazy. I'll go out and get a
- 12:50Speaker 1: coffee or go out and do something. But your boy,
- 12:52Speaker 1: I'm more of a I am more of a home body.
- 12:55Speaker 1: But white people do Christmas in New York. Let's take
- 12:57Speaker 1: the family let's make memories. That's noting a great idea
- 12:59Speaker 1: because we are in the memory making game with young kiddos,
- 13:02Speaker 1: Like you have to think beyond yourself and think like,
- 13:05Speaker 1: these are the times where you want to make memories
- 13:07Speaker 1: and build a foundation and do all these things that
- 13:09Speaker 1: we talk about fatherhood.
- 13:10Speaker 3: And you're in the business of keeping wife happy and
- 13:13Speaker 3: kids happy.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Wife happy, kids happy, all of it. Then there's the
- 13:17Speaker 1: business going on with busting with the boys. Got to
- 13:19Speaker 1: look at the boys in the face. They fellas. I'm
- 13:21Speaker 1: not going to be going to the collegebo a playoff.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Wife wants to go to New York for Christmas. Listen,
- 13:24Speaker 1: I'm telling you right now, I gotta do Christmas in
- 13:27Speaker 1: New York.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Got its happen.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Yeah, So here's where the the the operation good. Here's
- 13:34Speaker 1: where all the stuff. I'll just fly through, Chris. New
- 13:37Speaker 1: York was a blast. The highs were highs. The low
- 13:40Speaker 1: moments were low moments. Every parent, every family knows that
- 13:43Speaker 1: when you're having those low moments with your young ones
- 13:45Speaker 1: in a hotel room, or in a store, or at
- 13:49Speaker 1: a restaurant or in the airport wherever it might be,
- 13:53Speaker 1: like those moments, you're kind of just sitting out. We
- 13:55Speaker 1: could just be home right now, but we got to
- 13:57Speaker 1: be out here. Yeah, we got to be out here
- 13:58Speaker 1: doing the hotel thing. We got out here doing the
- 14:00Speaker 1: vacation thing. Just push through it. But here's where the
- 14:03Speaker 1: good mentality comes in. So I have here, let's think care.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Let's start from the top. So wife wants to do
- 14:09Speaker 1: Christmas in the middle of primetime football when I have
- 14:12Speaker 1: a gig that demands me to watch football. Also, let's
- 14:15Speaker 1: do it. Good, we land in New York. We want
- 14:17Speaker 1: to go out early. But let's land in New York.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Only to land in New York drop the boys off
- 14:21Speaker 1: at their hotel. We're six miles away from our hotel,
- 14:23Speaker 1: so we got to sit in traffic for another ninety minutes.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Good good, good.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Guess what sure crib wasn't in the room when we
- 14:31Speaker 2: got there.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Half that's perfect.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Perfect.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Have to wait another forty five minutes until we get
- 14:35Speaker 1: the crib in the room. It's already in our past bedtime.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Good good. You just you get some extra FaceTime with
- 14:43Speaker 3: the bell Hop when they come.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Wait.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Wait, let's throws.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Drassic Park, the animated version, Like, let's try to figure
- 14:52Speaker 1: out dinner.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Let's do all these.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Things until we get the crib in the bedroom, be
- 14:54Speaker 1: Causecatti is over, she's over tired. Now we brought the
- 14:58Speaker 1: double stroller. We brought our double st I think it's
- 15:00Speaker 1: a great move. But the double stroller barely fits through
- 15:03Speaker 1: the doors as we walk all over.
- 15:05Speaker 3: New York because the entire city was built in eight
- 15:09Speaker 3: seventeen hundreds. Eighteen hundreds, good.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Good, I love having jamming it jeering, and then like,
- 15:16Speaker 1: let me move in sideways.
- 15:17Speaker 2: All right, I got it. Nobody touched me. Don't hold
- 15:20Speaker 2: the door. I got the door.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Then you get to the nighttime, and you know, one
- 15:26Speaker 1: of the knights we were there, char wanted to take
- 15:27Speaker 1: Rude to see the rock cats. Rue is fired up
- 15:29Speaker 1: about the rockets. I hear the Rockets is an unbelievable show.
- 15:32Speaker 1: So I tell my wife, hey, you take Rude, do
- 15:35Speaker 1: a mommy daughter thing. I'll stay back with Scottie and
- 15:38Speaker 1: let's got to get a nap, because again, when you're travel,
- 15:40Speaker 1: when you're not moving, you gotta kind of fine times
- 15:43Speaker 1: to do nap, like they never go according to structure
- 15:46Speaker 1: routine like nap where you can, of course, So my
- 15:50Speaker 1: wife takes rid of the rockets. Dad was supposed to
- 15:53Speaker 1: be at a restaurant with the table ready when they
- 15:55Speaker 1: got out.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Oh, Will, why didn't you do that?
- 15:58Speaker 1: Dad forgets He's in New York and most plays this
- 16:00Speaker 1: are so pat So we have to wait another amount
- 16:03Speaker 1: of time when we're already getting past bedtime.
- 16:05Speaker 2: My wife is staring through me while we have to wait,
- 16:08Speaker 2: and I'm.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Just thinking, my good good.
- 16:12Speaker 2: You're a shitty father. Will you are a shitty father? Hey?
- 16:15Speaker 2: That is on me. I messed that up, and I
- 16:17Speaker 2: knew I messed it up.
- 16:18Speaker 1: She kind of alluded to me, Hey, when we get done,
- 16:22Speaker 1: we can go find a spot to go do dinner
- 16:23Speaker 1: and then like an hour before or like around the
- 16:26Speaker 1: time they left, She's like, if you want to, you
- 16:28Speaker 1: could go to a restaurant before and then get a
- 16:31Speaker 1: table and then we can meet you there. So that
- 16:34Speaker 1: right there, man, we talked about it a week or
- 16:36Speaker 1: two ago. That type of like they're alluding to something.
- 16:40Speaker 1: They're not saying, hey, do this, They're saying, hey, if
- 16:43Speaker 1: you want to, So then once I read if you
- 16:45Speaker 1: want to, I'm thinking, okay, all this is all this
- 16:48Speaker 1: is in my control, Like, this is my decision if
- 16:50Speaker 1: I want to wait or not I'm thinking, Okay, I
- 16:52Speaker 1: want to get a little extra time, kick the feet up,
- 16:53Speaker 1: lay on the bed while Scottie takes a nap. But
- 16:56Speaker 1: what your wife wants you to do in those situations
- 16:58Speaker 1: is not say think, hey, if you want to, and
- 17:00Speaker 1: you think I don't want to, so let's not do this.
- 17:02Speaker 1: But you can't think that way, can I? When they
- 17:05Speaker 1: say if you want to, they're saying, hey, do this there. Hey,
- 17:10Speaker 1: this is this is how you this is how you
- 17:12Speaker 1: over delivered.
- 17:13Speaker 3: They're saying, hey, I want you to know that everything
- 17:17Speaker 3: in your body wants to do this and should convey
- 17:22Speaker 3: that everything in your body wants to go get that
- 17:26Speaker 3: Rezi and wants to go hold that table down. Why
- 17:29Speaker 3: the while the waitress is going, now, where's where's the
- 17:32Speaker 3: other two to your party? You don't have a full seat.
- 17:34Speaker 3: I'm gonna have to give this reservation up. They're on
- 17:36Speaker 3: their way from the rockets and you're fighting with the
- 17:39Speaker 3: waitress and.
- 17:40Speaker 2: She's like, hey, where you at.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, we're on the dough It might have
- 17:43Speaker 1: been like Fifth Street or something. I'm like, look, you know,
- 17:45Speaker 1: we might run into you as we walker trying to
- 17:47Speaker 1: find a pristine I run into her.
- 17:49Speaker 2: She's like, so we do.
- 17:50Speaker 1: We don't have anywhere to go, and I'm like everything
- 17:53Speaker 1: everywhere's pretty packed right now.
- 17:54Speaker 2: She's like, well, that's kind of why I texted.
- 17:56Speaker 3: You which burrow are you all in?
- 17:58Speaker 2: Which?
- 17:58Speaker 1: What?
- 17:58Speaker 3: Which burrow were you all in?
- 18:00Speaker 2: And we're on the bronx or and I don't even
- 18:02Speaker 2: know what that means.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Okay, you know we were by Central Park?
- 18:06Speaker 2: Oh okay, yeah, we were in Central Park.
- 18:09Speaker 1: So we were kind of around like those streets where
- 18:11Speaker 1: you can kind of those are a lot of walkable.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Spots like Rockefeller.
- 18:16Speaker 1: The spot where they do where the rock has performed
- 18:18Speaker 1: is Radio City, so where the.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Draft will be some years.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Yeah, so we're around that area and again, good vibes
- 18:26Speaker 1: during the daytime, it's like we were enjoying the Holiday
- 18:29Speaker 1: Village in Village Park where that's where I put out
- 18:31Speaker 1: the tweet on like, you know, I was saying that
- 18:33Speaker 1: the look they sell my ornament here from the Big
- 18:37Speaker 1: Six that happened against Georgia. But they have this cool
- 18:41Speaker 1: little village in or Holiday Village where they got all
- 18:44Speaker 1: these little shops where you can buy ornaments, and they
- 18:47Speaker 1: got these little eatery spots like everything right there on
- 18:49Speaker 1: the street. I'm thinking, I want street food in New York.
- 18:52Speaker 1: We wanted to get a bite to eat. We get sandwiches.
- 18:54Speaker 2: But guess what. Rue didn't want a sandwich.
- 18:56Speaker 1: She wanted this fruit stick that she saw somebody else
- 18:59Speaker 1: eating like ten feet away. So I go get the
- 19:02Speaker 1: fruit stick and guess what, Sure, it's not the exact
- 19:05Speaker 1: fruit stick that she wanted.
- 19:07Speaker 2: She wanted strawberries and grapes. What not strawberries grapes.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Not strawberries grapes, blueberries and oranges. She wanted just strawberries
- 19:14Speaker 1: and grapes, and not the green one. She wants the
- 19:16Speaker 1: purple grapes. And she's having a panic attack. It felt
- 19:19Speaker 1: like like losing her mind. Don't go back, Let me
- 19:23Speaker 1: go back and get the strawberries and grapes.
- 19:25Speaker 2: That is. Oh, I get so happy thinking about it
- 19:29Speaker 2: because I just want more. I want more adversity.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Yeah, what a great call from your daughter, and how
- 19:35Speaker 3: and uh just say, how dare you to will uh
- 19:39Speaker 3: for even thinking otherwise?
- 19:42Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 19:42Speaker 1: Like, sweetheart, we got the sandwiches, got salami on it
- 19:44Speaker 1: where I'm he fronts Pepperoni's has got Pepperoni's on the sandwich,
- 19:47Speaker 1: Like you gotta eat some quality food. And she's like
- 19:49Speaker 1: pointing at this chick eating like a fruit stick or whatever.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I'm like, let's just I.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Gotta walk around and figure out where this fruit stick is.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Bring it back, got you one? All the different fruits
- 19:59Speaker 1: of variety, almost strawberries and grapes. Strawberries and grapes are
- 20:01Speaker 1: right there on the stick. I want just strawberries and grapes.
- 20:04Speaker 1: I don't want the green grape. I want the purple grape.
- 20:07Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh god, good, good, little nippy a
- 20:10Speaker 1: little cold, so we take care of that. But again, hey,
- 20:15Speaker 1: great time, great great Christmas in New York, right there
- 20:18Speaker 1: by Central Park. We're having moments, we're snapping photos, we're
- 20:20Speaker 1: taking pictures. It's a great time. The next day we
- 20:24Speaker 1: go to everybody says to go to the Fao foa
- 20:27Speaker 1: Fao storey Schwartz. Yeah, Fao Schwartz toy store, which, by
- 20:31Speaker 1: the way, it's a banger. But we get there. It's
- 20:34Speaker 1: raining outside, so we get the umbrellas going. I'm kind
- 20:36Speaker 1: of standing in it, thinking like, you know, here's Jock o' Willie,
- 20:39Speaker 1: like good we want rain, good drink the rain. We
- 20:42Speaker 1: get there at the Fao store and we're kind of
- 20:44Speaker 1: going up to the door. We see a little line.
- 20:46Speaker 1: We're like, oh snap, we kind of start walking back
- 20:47Speaker 1: to line. The we like pause, we like look down
- 20:50Speaker 1: the road to this line is all the way down
- 20:54Speaker 1: the street. And so I'm doing one of those things
- 20:57Speaker 1: where I'm pushing the stroll and I look at Charo
- 21:00Speaker 1: line love lines, dude, I love lines. Let me find
- 21:03Speaker 1: the longest line in New York City and let me stand.
- 21:07Speaker 1: And as I'm like putting the stroller, I'm trying to
- 21:09Speaker 1: feel out char and I'm thinking to myself. I'm thinking
- 21:11Speaker 1: in my head, like, are we really walking to this
- 21:15Speaker 1: to the back of this long ass line, and we're
- 21:17Speaker 1: just gonna wait to get in this toy store?
- 21:18Speaker 2: Like it looks like chaos in there.
- 21:20Speaker 1: It looks like anarchy inside that store because it is
- 21:22Speaker 1: Christmas time.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Kids are going nuts. I got this double stroller where
- 21:25Speaker 2: we're gonna put the stroller, Like he said, I just
- 21:28Speaker 2: look at Charno. I'm like, hey, we're gonna wait.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Line.
- 21:30Speaker 2: We'll let you see how long it is. I'm looking
- 21:33Speaker 2: down the road. I'm like, this is pretty fucking long, dude,
- 21:37Speaker 2: standing there and then you can do you do the thing.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Where you both kind of walk and you're you're thinking
- 21:41Speaker 1: one thing in your head, like.
- 21:41Speaker 2: You are we gonna turn? Are we you know, a
- 21:43Speaker 2: port mission, like.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Let's figure out a pivot here, and we kind of
- 21:45Speaker 1: mosey to the end of the line. We just stand
- 21:47Speaker 1: in there and I look and I'm like, so it
- 21:49Speaker 1: looks like we're standing in the line. Looks like we're
- 21:51Speaker 1: waiting to get in this toy store. She's like, Oh,
- 21:53Speaker 1: we can just do it for a few minutes. How
- 21:54Speaker 1: long how fast it goes? Line does move quicker, but
- 21:57Speaker 1: it's still like I'm timing it on my watch, Like
- 21:59Speaker 1: I just right there. I'm like, okay, I'm going to
- 22:01Speaker 1: start this time r and I'm going to figure out
- 22:02Speaker 1: how long it took to get to the to the
- 22:04Speaker 1: front of the store. Thirty minute wait, thirty minute wait
- 22:07Speaker 1: in the rain? Good, like I.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Said, drink the rain.
- 22:11Speaker 3: And it's and it's a freezing rain too, which is
- 22:13Speaker 3: really nice, dude.
- 22:16Speaker 1: I loved that I started. I took off my jacket,
- 22:18Speaker 1: I took off my hoodie.
- 22:19Speaker 2: I was out there shirt list just bind.
- 22:22Speaker 1: I'm looking at all the Dad's like, yeah, let's see
- 22:25Speaker 1: you do it, Like this boar right here.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Let's see you take on this a gap like Willie
- 22:28Speaker 2: one shelf.
- 22:31Speaker 3: And I know that all the diaper changes out in
- 22:35Speaker 3: public uh in New York City. I'm sure those bathrooms
- 22:39Speaker 3: are very kind.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Oh they're so spotless, they're so clean. There's nothing to
- 22:44Speaker 1: worry about when you go in those public restrooms in
- 22:46Speaker 1: New York City and there's a billion people.
- 22:51Speaker 2: And another thing.
- 22:52Speaker 1: I was talking to you about this last night, but
- 22:56Speaker 1: work related stuff comes up.
- 22:58Speaker 2: While I'm on while we're on this span.
- 23:01Speaker 1: To where all of a sudden, there was an emergency
- 23:05Speaker 1: to get a decision made about a brand to like
- 23:07Speaker 1: do some work together in twenty twenty six, and I'm
- 23:10Speaker 1: just thinking, are we not able to wait till Monday?
- 23:12Speaker 1: Why all of a sudden do we have is why,
- 23:15Speaker 1: all of a sudden, as your urgency became our emergency
- 23:17Speaker 1: to where we have to get you an answer, Like, dude,
- 23:19Speaker 1: I'm in the middle of a family vacated, like doing
- 23:22Speaker 1: Christmas in New York with the family. I get hit
- 23:24Speaker 1: up at about like eight pm, I think it was
- 23:27Speaker 1: on Thursday. It was Thursday or Friday eight pm, and
- 23:31Speaker 1: it's like, hey, will sorry to Bob. We need answers
- 23:34Speaker 1: about X, Y, and Z. I'm thinking what. Then Taylor's
- 23:36Speaker 1: shared like, hey, we'll get this to you by end
- 23:37Speaker 1: of day. Will's out of New York right now. Like
- 23:40Speaker 1: our schedule was pretty jam packed last week, and I
- 23:45Speaker 1: guess I got a phone call that was like, hey,
- 23:46Speaker 1: we needed an answer to night, and I'm kind of
- 23:49Speaker 1: get starting to get a little beside myself some thinking
- 23:51Speaker 1: what in.
- 23:51Speaker 2: The hell is going on?
- 23:53Speaker 1: And because we're at dinner at this moment, I'm trying
- 23:57Speaker 1: not to look at my phone, but I'm checking my phone.
- 23:59Speaker 2: I see these messages.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I put the phone back in my pocket because I
- 24:01Speaker 1: don't want to respond because we're at dinner. We go
- 24:04Speaker 1: back and again, as we're doing dinner, you get kind
- 24:07Speaker 1: of overtime with bedtime. So we get home or we
- 24:09Speaker 1: get back to the hotel and we're trying to put
- 24:11Speaker 1: the kids down and do bedtime, do the bedtime routine,
- 24:13Speaker 1: everything else. So I'm into doing that, and then all
- 24:16Speaker 1: of a sudden, rue in charo they want to watch
- 24:21Speaker 1: a Christmas movie in bed, So let's watch a Christmas
- 24:23Speaker 1: movie in bed. Oh wait, people involved with our bus
- 24:26Speaker 1: and team needs on urgent answer that night, and they
- 24:29Speaker 1: can't wait until Monday because communication sucks. And now I
- 24:31Speaker 1: have to sit out in the hallway for an hour
- 24:33Speaker 1: trying to solve a problem with my wife and daughter
- 24:35Speaker 1: watch a Christmas movie.
- 24:40Speaker 3: That's ideal. How was that a carpet in the hallway
- 24:44Speaker 3: of the hotel. I bet that was comfy to sit
- 24:46Speaker 3: on for an hour?
- 24:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:48Speaker 1: I sat on that for about thirty minutes. I went
- 24:50Speaker 1: to this little you know they got the little day beds.
- 24:53Speaker 1: I'm like laying completely horizontal on that on the phone
- 24:57Speaker 1: with like three different people.
- 24:59Speaker 3: That's perfect right there by the elevators.
- 25:02Speaker 2: It is amazing, like a wonderful time of the year.
- 25:06Speaker 2: It is.
- 25:06Speaker 1: And when you're in the Christmas spirit and you got
- 25:08Speaker 1: to do work stuff and you're trying to do the
- 25:10Speaker 1: family stuff and you're just chaos.
- 25:13Speaker 2: You're enjoying the moments. You're taking a lot of photos.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Charl has this little camera she likes to bring, which
- 25:18Speaker 1: is all time, by the way, like big time a
- 25:20Speaker 1: plus move by her, because we're capturing like all these moments,
- 25:23Speaker 1: like Charlie we went.
- 25:24Speaker 2: They ice skated.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Charlie Ice skated while I was holding Scotty and kind
- 25:29Speaker 1: of walking around with Scottie and it was sick, dude, Like,
- 25:32Speaker 1: I'll have to show you these pictures to where it's
- 25:35Speaker 1: the ice skating like Home Alone, all a lot of
- 25:37Speaker 1: spots on Home Alone too.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Yeah, you were at because it was around Central Park.
- 25:41Speaker 1: So the ice skating that happens in Central Park, the
- 25:44Speaker 1: backdrop is incredible. We went and saw the Rockefeller Christmas
- 25:47Speaker 1: Tree again. We were at the toy store, seeing Roue
- 25:50Speaker 1: light up at the toy store, having to negotiate with
- 25:52Speaker 1: her that hey, we can talk to Saan about the
- 25:54Speaker 1: possibility of this toy, like you can't get this toy
- 25:56Speaker 1: right now.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Ended up walking out of the toy store with some
- 25:59Speaker 2: magic markers.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Because the guy was just wowing everybody with these magic markers.
- 26:05Speaker 1: It was fun though again the highs were highs and
- 26:08Speaker 1: all those good moments that I alluded to. You could
- 26:10Speaker 1: just every parent knows those moments where you get back
- 26:12Speaker 1: from a trip and you're trying to tell your boy,
- 26:14Speaker 1: You're trying to tell everybody like, hey, it was fun,
- 26:15Speaker 1: and they kind of see the chaos that ensued in
- 26:18Speaker 1: your eyes.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Because there was chaos.
- 26:21Speaker 1: But then again, when you pull yourself out of it,
- 26:22Speaker 1: you're just like yo, you're literally trying to build some
- 26:25Speaker 1: of these memories and foundations now because one time I'm in.
- 26:28Speaker 2: There, we were at breakfast Scott or Row. I can't remember.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Somebody was causing chaos and we're both kind of the
- 26:34Speaker 1: little drained at this point. Intro just mentions like hey,
- 26:38Speaker 1: Christmas time, like this is the chaos we want. This
- 26:40Speaker 1: is the chaos that we have to embrace and look
- 26:42Speaker 1: forward to, because this is basically what it's going to
- 26:45Speaker 1: be like forever, especially when you're trying to make memories
- 26:48Speaker 1: and do all of these things and doing things out
- 26:50Speaker 1: of your ordinary routine or chaos kind of hits the fan.
- 26:55Speaker 2: But it was good dude again, up and down, up
- 26:58Speaker 2: and down.
- 26:59Speaker 5: You know, will if it makes you feel any better.
- 27:02Speaker 5: My dad just sent a picture to me and my
- 27:04Speaker 5: brother like two weeks ago of like a seven years
- 27:07Speaker 5: ago or eight years ago, and its meing my dad
- 27:09Speaker 5: and brother in New York City and something like that.
- 27:12Speaker 5: He's like, hey, I always remember this trip, so you know,
- 27:15Speaker 5: for all the chaos that ensues, hopefully that's the end goal, right,
- 27:18Speaker 5: That's what do.
- 27:19Speaker 1: One hundred percent like again watching Rue and Charo uh
- 27:24Speaker 1: do the ice skating. We're riding on the carriage where
- 27:27Speaker 1: you know, a horse is taking us around Central Park.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Rue's having a blast, We're having fun, we're taking self heause,
- 27:33Speaker 1: we're doing all things like this is going to be
- 27:34Speaker 1: an insanely memorable trip. Who knows if I ever go
- 27:37Speaker 1: back because of what this place did to my family
- 27:40Speaker 1: the moment we got back. We got back Saturday, and
- 27:42Speaker 1: Rue got hit with the fever Saturday night.
- 27:44Speaker 2: And then, as you know, I'm sitting.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Here podcasting right now, barricaded in this back office and
- 27:49Speaker 1: well everybody else that's out there in the little six zone.
- 27:53Speaker 3: That's crazy that she contracted that so quickly coming back
- 27:56Speaker 3: to Nashville. There's no way. I don't think she would
- 27:59Speaker 3: get that at New York. That's the part that doesn't
- 28:04Speaker 3: make sense for me. The second thing I'll say in
- 28:09Speaker 3: regards to last week, I really did. I loved the
- 28:14Speaker 3: thing that you read off of Instagram of Uh, you know,
- 28:17Speaker 3: we're eighty years old now and my husband grabs my
- 28:22Speaker 3: wrinkled hand and says, honey, what do you want for
- 28:25Speaker 3: Christmas this year? And Will just saying, oh, I don't know,
- 28:29Speaker 3: another one last trip to New York City.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Yeah, we love another.
- 28:34Speaker 1: We love another moment for code read Dad con five,
- 28:39Speaker 1: go to New York, come back sick for the next
- 28:41Speaker 1: few days, right on the week of Christmas.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Because you're right, that is the perspective.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Like that, like you, we laugh because we both know
- 28:49Speaker 3: we can't have that. Yeah, but New York dude, to
- 28:55Speaker 3: pile on and be a good co host and join
- 28:58Speaker 3: you in your love for New York's city. I love
- 29:03Speaker 3: New York City just as much as you, and arguably
- 29:08Speaker 3: maybe more. I actually, when I was there for the
- 29:12Speaker 3: two weeks I lived and worked there right out of college,
- 29:16Speaker 3: I pad on the set of the Netflix maybe The Irishman,
- 29:20Speaker 3: and that was being shot during Christmas. I was there, yes,
- 29:26Speaker 3: and so I got to experience all the lovely, lovely
- 29:31Speaker 3: parts of New York City during Christmas while working, which
- 29:36Speaker 3: that was phenomenal. And will I gotta tell you, I
- 29:39Speaker 3: think my favorite part of New York City is at
- 29:42Speaker 3: three o'clock or four o'clock in the morning, you're coming
- 29:46Speaker 3: home from a night shoot and that steamer starts coming
- 29:51Speaker 3: down cleaning the streets. You just get to see all
- 29:55Speaker 3: the lovely magic of New York City just rise off
- 29:59Speaker 3: those streets. You get the smell it, you get to
- 30:01Speaker 3: inhale it, and uh, that's the kind of stuff that
- 30:04Speaker 3: would Honestly, I wish you had had Rue out in
- 30:07Speaker 3: about at three or four o'clock in the morning so
- 30:10Speaker 3: she could have inhaled that. I think it would have
- 30:12Speaker 3: helped prevent what she caught, because that's the stuff that
- 30:16Speaker 3: makes a kid. That'll put some hair on your chest.
- 30:19Speaker 2: That type of street dirt'll put some hair on your chest.
- 30:26Speaker 3: And I joke, I New York does have it's it
- 30:30Speaker 3: does have its wonderful Uh. Christmas in New York was
- 30:35Speaker 3: really really really cool.
- 30:37Speaker 1: But just like the type of uh, the type of
- 30:41Speaker 1: like guy I am, like I would outside if my
- 30:45Speaker 1: if it was my wife's idea, Like I personally would
- 30:47Speaker 1: never be looking to go do Christmas in New York.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I would never be personally going to seek out trips
- 30:52Speaker 1: in New York because I'm just not being around a
- 30:55Speaker 1: bunch of people is just.
- 30:57Speaker 2: Not my vibe. Yeah, I'm just so easier.
- 31:00Speaker 1: You're you're walking around, you're kind of bumping into people,
- 31:03Speaker 1: You're trying to avoid a lot. There's just so many
- 31:06Speaker 1: people and you want to go in It's like when
- 31:07Speaker 1: I go into stores or shops or whatever. It is,
- 31:10Speaker 1: Like I love to kind of have space and think
- 31:12Speaker 1: about what I might get if I ever do go shopping.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'm like in my mind.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Taking so much time internally, I hate thinking about store
- 31:21Speaker 1: workers looking at me, coming up and asking, hey, do
- 31:23Speaker 1: you need any help?
- 31:24Speaker 2: I'm like, I just I don't.
- 31:26Speaker 1: I don't want any Like I'll come up to you
- 31:27Speaker 1: if I'm looking for something and I need help. Like,
- 31:29Speaker 1: I just hate that potential social factor that goes on
- 31:33Speaker 1: with all of these people around you at all times.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Then you're in the aisle and there's a bunch of
- 31:36Speaker 1: people in the aisle, it's like, man, I'm kind of
- 31:38Speaker 1: messing with it. I kind of want to sit here
- 31:39Speaker 1: and think or look at all these different if we're
- 31:41Speaker 1: in the toy shop, look.
- 31:42Speaker 2: At all these different toys. But then you feel people.
- 31:44Speaker 1: To your right left, You're kind of like, are we
- 31:45Speaker 1: got to like swiftly move through this aisle?
- 31:48Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 31:48Speaker 1: Oh?
- 31:49Speaker 3: A million percent. And unfortunately, when Jill got pregnant, this
- 31:53Speaker 3: is actually a really sad story. When Jill got pregnant,
- 31:58Speaker 3: my mom, sorry, it kept on bringing up, and you know,
- 32:01Speaker 3: my dream I just can't wait is to do this
- 32:04Speaker 3: annual trip girls trip to New York City and with
- 32:10Speaker 3: y'all's unborn daughter and you, Jill and myself and we
- 32:14Speaker 3: get to shop and we get to go around and
- 32:16Speaker 3: take pictures and Dad's not invited. I'm sitting there like,
- 32:20Speaker 3: are you kidding me? I don't get to go on that.
- 32:25Speaker 3: How messed up is that? I go, Okay, if that
- 32:29Speaker 3: makes you all happy, y'all can go do your girls
- 32:32Speaker 3: strip to New York.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Yeah, that's allowed. Fine. I will never hold this over
- 32:37Speaker 2: your head. Go have fun, but just come alone.
- 32:41Speaker 3: But when she was bringing up that, she would be
- 32:44Speaker 3: willing to check that box off because Jill, very Jill
- 32:48Speaker 3: is very very similar to Jarro. It seems like with
- 32:51Speaker 3: the adventure, with the exploring, the traveling. Oh yeah, Jill.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Love like that.
- 32:59Speaker 1: You know all the time you go to destin or
- 33:01Speaker 1: travel to We've been in the Hawaii deston Canada this
- 33:04Speaker 1: past year, in Banff, we were over in Italy. Like
- 33:07Speaker 1: that's all charl put, you know, getting us to go
- 33:10Speaker 1: do different things as a family together and you.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Come back with so many great moments and memories.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Hey, but you want to know the funny thing, So Charles,
- 33:19Speaker 1: since Rue was born was always doing this annual.
- 33:22Speaker 2: New York trip, like she's always going to take root
- 33:24Speaker 2: in New York. So she's done it.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Rue's what three now, so this was where this was
- 33:27Speaker 1: the third time she went. But Charle usually like it
- 33:31Speaker 1: was gonna be like a girls thing, and this stings
- 33:33Speaker 1: between us, like, I know my wife listens to the podcast,
- 33:36Speaker 1: but this is where she has some mute and not
- 33:37Speaker 1: listen her kind of fast forward.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, you bet too.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Not sweetar year one. In year two she takes Ruth.
- 33:45Speaker 1: So I'm at the house. It's sad, boy, you know,
- 33:48Speaker 1: sad that they're in New York. I have to stay home.
- 33:50Speaker 1: And this year when they're like, hey, we need to
- 33:52Speaker 1: do Christmas in New York, I'm thinking of my head
- 33:54Speaker 1: like I thought it was always going to be a
- 33:55Speaker 1: girls thing.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Dude, Like, you can't get me out of my routine.
- 33:58Speaker 3: So are you saying that now my mom's dream of
- 34:02Speaker 3: doing an annuals girls strip. Dad might get the invite
- 34:06Speaker 3: one year.
- 34:07Speaker 2: That'll come up.
- 34:08Speaker 1: So I'm gonna flip the script on how just when
- 34:13Speaker 1: we have to stay home, but hold on to them
- 34:16Speaker 1: doing annual traditions in New York, just.
- 34:18Speaker 2: As girls like, hold on to that as tight as
- 34:21Speaker 2: you can. Hopefully you never have to let it go.
- 34:23Speaker 3: I'm gonna get I'm gonna get them custom matching outfits
- 34:28Speaker 3: for when they travel. I'll play in the whole damn thing.
- 34:31Speaker 3: I'll get the itinerary, I'll be the travel agent.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Make sume do you want to go with this this year?
- 34:36Speaker 2: And you just kind of look at your watch. I
- 34:39Speaker 2: don't think I can do.
- 34:41Speaker 3: I want to go with every fiber in my being,
- 34:44Speaker 3: can I I don't think I gotta make it work.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Yeah, sweetheart, my mom said, annual girls trip every year.
- 34:51Speaker 1: I don't want you guys to break your code.
- 34:53Speaker 3: She said, no guys allowed. She specifically said that, and
- 34:56Speaker 3: I can't.
- 34:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna do if we do it again, if it
- 34:58Speaker 1: happens again, which we might have a few year cushion.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Now now that we got sick, that's kind of more
- 35:03Speaker 1: of a kind of more of a foundation to build on.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Telling Charlie, I was sure we were like last time,
- 35:09Speaker 2: everybody you all got taken down.
- 35:12Speaker 1: But when, if, and when we go again, you're you
- 35:16Speaker 1: and the fans coming with us. And then when the
- 35:18Speaker 1: chaos is issuing, I'm just gonna be in the corner
- 35:20Speaker 1: looking at you like, yeah, that's that's like a Christmas
- 35:27Speaker 1: in New York needs to be a PT six batch.
- 35:29Speaker 3: Hey, New York.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Hey. I was saying that so many times.
- 35:35Speaker 1: When char was when I'm like pushing Scottie and Charles
- 35:39Speaker 1: kind of like I'm starting to figure out. I'm starting
- 35:41Speaker 1: to realize, like I messed this dinner reservation. I messed
- 35:44Speaker 1: up this dinner set up. Yah.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Wait somewhere, Fortunately we found this newer spot.
- 35:48Speaker 1: It was a packed. I went and I talked to
- 35:49Speaker 1: the ladies. She got a seated and dude, why would
- 35:52Speaker 1: we come in? A couple of dads or a couple
- 35:54Speaker 1: of boys were talking about Papa teams.
- 35:57Speaker 3: In New York.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah in New York.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Yeah, bros is getting love in New York or the
- 36:02Speaker 1: getting a couple guys there.
- 36:05Speaker 2: You know, you can tell they're busting fans.
- 36:06Speaker 1: But then every guys like, yo, I love what you do,
- 36:08Speaker 1: and it just it felt like a dad exchange.
- 36:11Speaker 3: Did did you all go to Dumbo again? The down
- 36:15Speaker 3: under the Manhattan Bridge overpass? That area they all went.
- 36:19Speaker 3: Didn't you go there with Jara last time?
- 36:21Speaker 2: Yes? Yes, yes, yes, that was the.
- 36:24Speaker 3: One area that when I was in New York. I
- 36:26Speaker 3: was like, this is really freaking cool. It's like Cobble
- 36:29Speaker 3: Street or cable Boles Street, Like, don't.
- 36:32Speaker 2: Get it twisted, Like it is very cool.
- 36:34Speaker 3: It's cool.
- 36:35Speaker 1: It's just if you're if you're one of the dads
- 36:37Speaker 1: and you feel like everything that I'm saying when I
- 36:40Speaker 1: talk about New York or a lot of people and
- 36:42Speaker 1: everything else, and you're like, oh, that is me to
- 36:43Speaker 1: a t. I'm telling you those things aren't going to
- 36:46Speaker 1: leave you when you're in New York. But you are
- 36:48Speaker 1: going to go over there and you're going to appreciate
- 36:49Speaker 1: everything you're seeing, and your fame's going to be happy.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Like there's nothing like seeing your girls smile and everything else.
- 36:54Speaker 2: I can think, I'll get over this low back pain.
- 36:56Speaker 2: I'll get over all these things that's going on inside
- 36:58Speaker 2: of my head. And the cool thing too, bro.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Is we got back and on Saturday night, I realized
- 37:06Speaker 1: Ru's getting fever when I went over to give her
- 37:07Speaker 1: a kiss on the cheek, and I'm just like, yo,
- 37:09Speaker 1: you feel pretty hot. But we were watching Home alone too,
- 37:12Speaker 1: so we were kind of doing pizza Saturday and movie
- 37:15Speaker 1: night because we got back and we're just beat like
- 37:17Speaker 1: Scotty was a demon on the flight home.
- 37:19Speaker 2: A demon. This is Scotty on the flight home is.
- 37:23Speaker 1: Where I got this. I got this scratch on my neck.
- 37:28Speaker 1: She reaches up, she gets her claws in my neck.
- 37:30Speaker 1: She gets her claws like in my nose, and it's
- 37:32Speaker 1: like lifting my nose. I'm trying to rock her. Rue's
- 37:36Speaker 1: not sleeping on my lap, which was great. Charlie and
- 37:39Speaker 1: I are drain. We're trying to like, we're hoping Scotty
- 37:41Speaker 1: just falls asleep because she hadn't napped yet, and she
- 37:45Speaker 1: falls asleep, like, Yo, we're gonna get to take a
- 37:46Speaker 1: little nap on this flight home and it's gonna be love.
- 37:49Speaker 1: We didn't get to fall asleep really at all. I
- 37:51Speaker 1: dozed off a couple times when Charlo haad Scotty. But
- 37:54Speaker 1: Scotty was just a she was a menace on the
- 37:57Speaker 1: right home. And so we get home and Charles's parents,
- 38:01Speaker 1: Lowland op are here. They were kind of watching the house.
- 38:03Speaker 1: They spend dinner time and everything else with us. They
- 38:05Speaker 1: watched the movie. So we're watching home alone too, seeing
- 38:09Speaker 1: all the spots in New York that we got to visit.
- 38:11Speaker 2: We're like, oh, Rue, you Ice skated there. Rue, we
- 38:13Speaker 2: got to see this, Rue, we got to see that
- 38:14Speaker 2: there's the tree that you got.
- 38:15Speaker 1: To stand by, and uh, I realized Rue has a fever.
- 38:21Speaker 1: But in the part of the movie is when what's
- 38:25Speaker 1: the old boy's.
- 38:26Speaker 3: Name, n cole McAllister Kevin McAllister Macaulay Culkin.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Yeah, so Kevin is I think he's on the phone
- 38:34Speaker 1: or he's Oh, he's standing by the Christmas tree, the
- 38:36Speaker 1: rock and Filler Christmas tree where we got to see, Yes,
- 38:39Speaker 1: and he's talking. He's basically talking to the tree or
- 38:41Speaker 1: like you know, praying aloud whatever it is, saying like
- 38:44Speaker 1: if I could have anything, it would just to be
- 38:46Speaker 1: to see my mom and talk to her again for
- 38:48Speaker 1: just even if it was like two minutes. Even this
- 38:50Speaker 1: he's like he's having the scene where he just wants
- 38:52Speaker 1: to see his mom again. And so I'm having a
- 38:55Speaker 1: moment of perspective because four years ago is when my
- 38:59Speaker 1: mom passed away, and it happened.
- 39:02Speaker 2: On December nineteenth.
- 39:05Speaker 1: So we were in New York during you know that time,
- 39:08Speaker 1: like when the nineteenth hit. A couple my boys sent
- 39:11Speaker 1: me up families. You know, we're all kind of talking
- 39:13Speaker 1: about Charles. You know, asking how I'm doing and everything else,
- 39:15Speaker 1: Like it's it's kind of like another day.
- 39:17Speaker 2: You sit there and you think.
- 39:18Speaker 1: About it, you remember, you remember the emotions and the
- 39:20Speaker 1: feelings you had when it happened.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Because I was in a hotel when it did happen.
- 39:25Speaker 1: We were about to play the Cleveland Browns the next
- 39:27Speaker 1: day when I heard when I found out and heard
- 39:28Speaker 1: the news that my mom had suddenly passed. But that
- 39:31Speaker 1: happened on the day of December nineteenth. So the full
- 39:34Speaker 1: circle moment I'm happening with another appreciation of going out
- 39:37Speaker 1: there to New York and seeing those things and seeing
- 39:39Speaker 1: the Rockefeller Tree. Is Kevin McAllister sitting there at the
- 39:42Speaker 1: very end of the movie saying if he could have
- 39:44Speaker 1: one more thing, it would be just to like talk
- 39:46Speaker 1: to his mom again.
- 39:47Speaker 2: So as I'm watching that, I'm just.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Like putting it all together, and I'm thinking, you know,
- 39:52Speaker 1: sometimes there are coincidences, sometimes there are none. And that's
- 39:54Speaker 1: on where I'm having like a moment of perspective on
- 39:56Speaker 1: like it felt that this was not a coincidence. I'm
- 40:00Speaker 1: watching this movie right now and seeing that scene of
- 40:02Speaker 1: him talking about it and feeling those same things that
- 40:04Speaker 1: he's saying yeah, yeah, and we got to be in
- 40:07Speaker 1: the presence of that tree like we were out there
- 40:09Speaker 1: in New York during that time.
- 40:11Speaker 3: That is a really good full circle, especially with the
- 40:14Speaker 3: way that you were probably feeling in New York. To
- 40:17Speaker 3: then be back home and to be able to be like, hey,
- 40:22Speaker 3: you know, we're worth it. Family is worth it, Like
- 40:27Speaker 3: it truly is good. As much as we joke around
- 40:30Speaker 3: of like I'm gonna find the biggest fucking line in
- 40:32Speaker 3: New York, That's what.
- 40:36Speaker 2: This show is for.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Man, We're gonna, we're gonna we're gonna talk about the
- 40:39Speaker 1: suck in the most sucking way. We're gonna do our
- 40:43Speaker 1: best to grab ourselves, pull us out, zoom out, and
- 40:46Speaker 1: have perspective on it. Because on the nineteenth, when we're
- 40:49Speaker 1: walking around all these you know, all the beautiful buildings
- 40:52Speaker 1: in New York, tall, big, sleek, modern, all these little
- 40:57Speaker 1: shops everything else.
- 40:58Speaker 2: And then in the middle of it, in the area
- 41:00Speaker 2: we were.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Is this massive Saint Patrick's Cathedral. Like I grew up Catholic,
- 41:04Speaker 1: my mom was a Catholic school principal. In this massive
- 41:07Speaker 1: church is you're sitting there, gorgeous, bro, and we're walking
- 41:11Speaker 1: through it was like Charles like, do you want to
- 41:12Speaker 1: go in there and light a candle? And I was
- 41:13Speaker 1: kind of just more in the I don't want to
- 41:16Speaker 1: run toward I don't want to run toward the emotion today.
- 41:19Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 41:20Speaker 1: Yeah, no, no, no, we can just kind of keep moving.
- 41:23Speaker 1: I'm kind of just sitting there appreciating how big this
- 41:25Speaker 1: church is all I.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Oh, my mom would have love this.
- 41:29Speaker 3: I didn't also did not know and should have known
- 41:34Speaker 3: about the nineteenth No, no, no, no, You're fine, no no,
- 41:38Speaker 3: but I do just want to say that did not
- 41:40Speaker 3: know and.
- 41:42Speaker 2: You weren't in my life on that day that year.
- 41:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Yeah, even if you were, it's not like I'm expecting
- 41:48Speaker 1: you to remember that day.
- 41:49Speaker 3: I know that, I know that. I just I know
- 41:52Speaker 3: how much that that stuff means to you. But what
- 41:57Speaker 3: a what a cool place to be, what a beautiful
- 41:59Speaker 3: place to be on the date. Yeah, it is kind
- 42:03Speaker 3: of like a little dreamy winter wonderland. That That was
- 42:06Speaker 3: the other thing I was gonna say of I was
- 42:09Speaker 3: staying in an apartment. Shout out George Catsopolis, by the way,
- 42:14Speaker 3: he's the guy that hired me to work on The Irishman,
- 42:17Speaker 3: and he put me up in his own apartment. Uh
- 42:20Speaker 3: so I could go up there and work. But his
- 42:24Speaker 3: apartment was in the Bronx, I believe. And yes, dude,
- 42:29Speaker 3: and the Bronx. Every single inch of street in the
- 42:35Speaker 3: Bronx is covered with garlands and lights. It's crazy, insane,
- 42:42Speaker 3: the most rundown, dumpy street you can think of in
- 42:45Speaker 3: the Bronx. You go there during the month of December,
- 42:49Speaker 3: there's gonna be snow, and there's gonna be garlands, and
- 42:51Speaker 3: there's gonna be ribbons and lights. I was like, this
- 42:54Speaker 3: is just a winter wonderland. This is crazy.
- 42:56Speaker 1: There's nothing but constant Christmas uson just playing in your
- 42:59Speaker 1: head as you're walking around seeing everything.
- 43:01Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I do I selfishly, I want to bring
- 43:06Speaker 3: up I got some gifts for the boys, some Christmas gifts.
- 43:11Speaker 2: It did drop off.
- 43:12Speaker 1: I see a lot of stuff by the way, but
- 43:15Speaker 1: we get to the gifts. Shout out all the fans.
- 43:17Speaker 1: There's a bunch of Christmas cards.
- 43:19Speaker 3: You got a bunch of Christmas.
- 43:21Speaker 2: Cards, A bunch of Christmas cards.
- 43:23Speaker 3: We'll try not to docks anybody, I know.
- 43:26Speaker 1: It's like I want to It's like I want to
- 43:28Speaker 1: shout out the families but I don't know if they
- 43:29Speaker 1: want me to shout them out, maybe to be comfortable
- 43:32Speaker 1: with me, like saying their last name.
- 43:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like they would love that. As long
- 43:36Speaker 3: as their addresses on there, I feel like that.
- 43:39Speaker 5: And if they're not DMN SRM not me, oh yeah,
- 43:46Speaker 5: yeah yeah, I'll do a great job of family's.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Got a fun little happy grinchmss. We got the Russian family,
- 43:53Speaker 1: the Rushing family that's sending a card. I'm looking at,
- 43:57Speaker 1: uh this the this brow family they sent in a
- 44:01Speaker 1: Christmas card.
- 44:02Speaker 2: I love this, the stoves Let's see here. Who else
- 44:06Speaker 2: we got? The love It's send in a Christmas card?
- 44:09Speaker 2: Love it?
- 44:09Speaker 5: Hey?
- 44:10Speaker 3: K wait? Can I ask you a question on the
- 44:11Speaker 3: love its?
- 44:12Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 44:13Speaker 3: Can you show me the love its? I know I
- 44:16Speaker 3: love it's. I just wanted to see if okay, never mind,
- 44:19Speaker 3: they not the love its I was thinking of. I
- 44:22Speaker 3: was like, that would be hilarious if they had sent on.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Then another one here from the silvas.
- 44:28Speaker 3: I love that.
- 44:29Speaker 1: That's for the PT Sickos for life guys written on
- 44:33Speaker 1: the back.
- 44:34Speaker 2: I got more here to open as well.
- 44:36Speaker 1: There's another person that's sent in just a digital shot
- 44:42Speaker 1: us a Christmas card that I hate Jameson.
- 44:45Speaker 2: He gives a kind of a good story.
- 44:47Speaker 1: The PT Sixers and Milk Team sixers out there grinding
- 44:50Speaker 1: every day in the trench is good.
- 44:51Speaker 2: I wanted to drop.
- 44:52Speaker 1: In like old Saint Nico on Christmas even say what's
- 44:54Speaker 1: up and drop the Christmas card photo for all you guys,
- 44:57Speaker 1: especially for Chef and Derek since they didn't get a
- 44:59Speaker 1: Christmas card from some people.
- 45:00Speaker 2: We might know.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Won't mention any names. Hah mavy, Merry Christmas and a
- 45:04Speaker 1: happy New Year. Good writtence to Delila. Also stay away
- 45:07Speaker 1: from Tennessee as well.
- 45:08Speaker 2: G B O, g b R.
- 45:11Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 45:13Speaker 3: Hey what if Raila ended up at Baylor? I just
- 45:16Speaker 3: thought about that they were in the market for a QB.
- 45:19Speaker 3: Oh oh my god.
- 45:22Speaker 2: But yeah, I.
- 45:22Speaker 1: See that there's a there's a Christmas gift here with
- 45:25Speaker 1: my name on it that you dropped off.
- 45:27Speaker 3: Yeah, if we want to do this back from you,
- 45:29Speaker 3: oh Willy one, show that one's from me. The book
- 45:33Speaker 3: is from Derek. And if we want to do Derek's first,
- 45:37Speaker 3: we can do Derek's first.
- 45:39Speaker 2: Okay, will why.
- 45:40Speaker 5: Do you.
- 45:42Speaker 1: My Christmas if can't be opened? I got all the
- 45:44Speaker 1: boys in mobile car detail and by the way. How
- 45:46Speaker 1: sick is the detail chef?
- 45:49Speaker 4: Sure, buddy, it's incredible.
- 45:51Speaker 3: I'm incredible my car.
- 45:53Speaker 4: Cleaned like that.
- 45:54Speaker 3: In my life.
- 45:55Speaker 4: It is one of the best gifts I've ever gotten.
- 45:58Speaker 3: Where did my phone go?
- 45:59Speaker 4: To Christmas? Thank you so much.
- 46:01Speaker 1: It does feel like one of the best gifts ever too,
- 46:03Speaker 1: because it's truly something you never I feel like I
- 46:06Speaker 1: never thought about doing, like finding a mobile detailer.
- 46:10Speaker 2: I'm thinking, you got to go in all these spots.
- 46:11Speaker 1: And on my birthday, my wife got me the detailed
- 46:14Speaker 1: package that I got you guys. So I woke up
- 46:17Speaker 1: on my birthday and she gave me a card and
- 46:19Speaker 1: something else, and then you know, I step outside and
- 46:22Speaker 1: this dude just going to work on my truck and
- 46:24Speaker 1: I'm like, Yo, what's going on out there? She's like,
- 46:25Speaker 1: I also, I got you a detail and due when
- 46:27Speaker 1: I got in the truck after the detail, I was like,
- 46:29Speaker 1: this is the sickest gift that I just would never
- 46:32Speaker 1: think about getting. I'd never think about treating myself to me.
- 46:35Speaker 1: So when Christmas is coming around, I was like, Yeah,
- 46:37Speaker 1: I'm going to get the boys details because it's so bad.
- 46:40Speaker 2: It makes you feel so good too.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Well and not only is it a great gift for us,
- 46:45Speaker 3: but Jill might be the biggest detail sicko of all
- 46:50Speaker 3: time on getting her own card detailed. So just know
- 46:53Speaker 3: that that when she came rushing into my room when
- 46:56Speaker 3: the detailer, you know, I'm dead in bad and the detailers
- 47:00Speaker 3: at our house and she comes right in. She's like,
- 47:03Speaker 3: they're gonna detail your car. I was like yeah. She
- 47:05Speaker 3: was like like, oh dude, dude.
- 47:08Speaker 1: For all the Milk Team sixers out there, like nky sneaky,
- 47:12Speaker 1: A plus gift is getting a detailer over to the
- 47:16Speaker 1: house to detail your husband, your hubbies, your PT sixers,
- 47:18Speaker 1: truck or car whatever it is, like, it's it is unbelievable.
- 47:23Speaker 3: Will I have our chef go ahead?
- 47:26Speaker 2: Please want to?
- 47:26Speaker 5: I want to put this in first year of doing
- 47:29Speaker 5: a proper eye by gifts for people I love. I
- 47:33Speaker 5: missed out on the four of their Dad's Crew, but
- 47:35Speaker 5: I think we'll all have.
- 47:36Speaker 4: Something by next episode.
- 47:38Speaker 5: And I know, Sharon, we've already talked about it and
- 47:39Speaker 5: sure said you're fine, done about this. I'm miss now
- 47:43Speaker 5: I dropped the ball on this and you're gonna next episode, Chef, you.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Continue because there's there's it's such a confusing.
- 47:53Speaker 2: I don't have the words.
- 47:55Speaker 1: To break down how how okay it is that you
- 47:59Speaker 1: didn't get anything?
- 48:00Speaker 2: Yeah? And I say that because in my.
- 48:04Speaker 1: Own shoes, I'm thinking of last minute Christmas shopping, I'm
- 48:08Speaker 1: currently doing gifts that i'm forgetting about to get people like,
- 48:12Speaker 1: I feel just so much shame, feeling like even though
- 48:17Speaker 1: I know the other person would say there's no expectation,
- 48:19Speaker 1: I feel like I have an expectation internally that I'm
- 48:22Speaker 1: feel like I'm letting down. I don't know, but all
- 48:24Speaker 1: to say, I promise you it is totally okay that
- 48:28Speaker 1: you didn't get us one. And I have been saying
- 48:30Speaker 1: those words because I know even when I say those words,
- 48:32Speaker 1: if they were being said to me, I'm thinking I
- 48:34Speaker 1: willly I hear you.
- 48:35Speaker 2: But it's also not okay with me.
- 48:37Speaker 1: So I look, I don't know, but I promise you
- 48:40Speaker 1: there's no feeling other than if I would just joke
- 48:43Speaker 1: on you, but just know that joke would have zero.
- 48:45Speaker 4: Truth to it.
- 48:45Speaker 5: Yeah, and look like you just said, it's an internal expectation.
- 48:51Speaker 5: I love getting people gifts. It's like one of my
- 48:53Speaker 5: favorite things to do. Yeah, so like it's to me,
- 48:55Speaker 5: it's even more of a thing. But it's like, yeah,
- 48:57Speaker 5: it's that first year of like, hey, I actually have
- 48:59Speaker 5: a real job. Now I can get people. People don't
- 49:02Speaker 5: expect it, but it's like I didn't have a job,
- 49:04Speaker 5: like I need to get loved one stuff. So I
- 49:08Speaker 5: think next episode, we'll all I might be coming in
- 49:10Speaker 5: with a couple of goodies.
- 49:11Speaker 3: I was about to say being the being the second
- 49:15Speaker 3: closest to Chef, am I older or no, Derek's older
- 49:20Speaker 3: than me, but uh, yeah I was. I was a
- 49:24Speaker 3: young buck. And when I envision Chef, like I know
- 49:28Speaker 3: that this is his first big boy job. I was
- 49:30Speaker 3: sitting at my desk when Chef had just got hired
- 49:35Speaker 3: on and he did a little whistle underneath his breath
- 49:39Speaker 3: and he goes first check hit man. That's a good feeling.
- 49:43Speaker 3: And I got to be sitting right there for it.
- 49:46Speaker 3: So I envisioned you exactly how I was my first
- 49:50Speaker 3: big boy year of like you you don't you know?
- 49:54Speaker 3: That was my realization of oh, I can get gifts
- 49:58Speaker 3: for people now because I can actually afford but you.
- 50:01Speaker 1: And again this new group of people that you work
- 50:04Speaker 1: with that you do love, but they've just never been
- 50:07Speaker 1: in your I guess like stratosphere or thought process of
- 50:11Speaker 1: like when you do do your annual gift giving for everybody,
- 50:13Speaker 1: like around Christmas, and then it's like the only thing
- 50:17Speaker 1: that has to happen for that domino to fall is
- 50:19Speaker 1: somebody else gets gifts for people in the workspace. And
- 50:23Speaker 1: then you were like, oh snap, like I love these
- 50:26Speaker 1: people too. I completely forgot about the whole gift factor thing.
- 50:30Speaker 2: I want to get gifts. Now I feel like do
- 50:32Speaker 2: I get gifts?
- 50:33Speaker 1: And now it's like I'm trying to compete with somebody
- 50:35Speaker 1: else who just brought in Like it's a I feel
- 50:37Speaker 1: like it's just a bizarre mental world when you're thinking
- 50:41Speaker 1: about gift gifting for everybody.
- 50:44Speaker 5: And to add on, Jpep got me a gift too.
- 50:47Speaker 5: He got me a little Star Wars It's like a
- 50:50Speaker 5: little holographic It's death star light up thing for my desk.
- 50:54Speaker 5: It's a little lamp that looks like a hologram. And
- 50:57Speaker 5: I was in the same thing. I was just like,
- 50:59Speaker 5: it's on, Like you didn't need I didn't even really know.
- 51:02Speaker 5: But now that I know, I'm like, oh yeah, I
- 51:04Speaker 5: like to give people gifts and it's fun, you know,
- 51:06Speaker 5: other than like gifting's not.
- 51:08Speaker 2: My love language.
- 51:08Speaker 1: I'm not a gift gift I like, I'm not a
- 51:11Speaker 1: I'm not a big gift guy.
- 51:13Speaker 2: Same.
- 51:13Speaker 5: I love doing it, but it's like and with you guys,
- 51:16Speaker 5: I actually know that this is the first year of
- 51:18Speaker 5: getting girlfriend gifts or like actually we always got to
- 51:21Speaker 5: use more than just like one or two and buddy,
- 51:24Speaker 5: I've been in it. It was a three week blender
- 51:26Speaker 5: of like I also, I ordered something for her for
- 51:30Speaker 5: her birthday. It was a it was a little ring
- 51:33Speaker 5: that had her birdstone and her sisters that she mentioned
- 51:36Speaker 5: to me a while back, A Big Pool on me,
- 51:38Speaker 5: remembering that one come on Big Pool as a Team
- 51:41Speaker 5: six chef got canceled. So I showed up to Knoxville
- 51:45Speaker 5: back with her birthday's day before mine showed up. Hey
- 51:49Speaker 5: this guy, I don't know what's going on. I had
- 51:51Speaker 5: something there for that she loved. But then I was like,
- 51:53Speaker 5: so now it's like Christmina's coming up in a month.
- 51:54Speaker 5: I'm like I have to show up.
- 51:56Speaker 2: I have to.
- 51:57Speaker 5: Like it's not even about she doesn't care, like she's awesome.
- 52:00Speaker 5: She's like, yeah, you get me. I'm like, no, this
- 52:03Speaker 5: is what I want to do. Is I want to
- 52:04Speaker 5: make sure I come correct.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Yeah, the lady. Now that I know the different story, I'm.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Thinking of all just the workplace, new people, like different
- 52:13Speaker 1: people that come into.
- 52:13Speaker 2: Your life, you know what I mean.
- 52:17Speaker 5: Yeah, And then now that I know that this is
- 52:19Speaker 5: kind of like I got a little bit of parameter,
- 52:20Speaker 5: I'm excited because I'm now I'm already thinking of what's
- 52:24Speaker 5: sick Nebraska memorabilia I can find Will that will get
- 52:28Speaker 5: him to chuckle? What do you get a man who
- 52:31Speaker 5: has everything you gotta? You gotta think, you gotta think
- 52:34Speaker 5: outside the box. And that's a challenge that.
- 52:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I was asking myself. I was gonna say, I
- 52:41Speaker 3: was asking myself the very the very same thing and target,
- 52:45Speaker 3: uh the other day, what do you what do you
- 52:47Speaker 3: get Will Compton for Christmas?
- 52:50Speaker 2: Look, I don't even know.
- 52:53Speaker 3: I think I may have nailed it. I don't want
- 52:55Speaker 3: to brag, but I think I may have nailed it.
- 52:57Speaker 3: Real quick, do we want to open our And I
- 53:01Speaker 3: have a note from Derek for each person that he
- 53:04Speaker 3: wanted me to read on the pod for you guys, yes.
- 53:08Speaker 1: And then also a question for the BT six community
- 53:11Speaker 1: again because I live in this this this mental world
- 53:14Speaker 1: of get do I get these gifts, Like when friends
- 53:17Speaker 1: get your kid's gifts.
- 53:21Speaker 2: Is the etiquette or the obligation now to get.
- 53:23Speaker 1: Their kids' gifts, because then what if you don't know
- 53:27Speaker 1: what they want?
- 53:28Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, But that's for the BT
- 53:30Speaker 2: six community.
- 53:30Speaker 1: It's like when friends get my kids gifts, I don't
- 53:33Speaker 1: really want them to get my kid's gifts because I
- 53:36Speaker 1: like my kids will get they'll get their gifts for
- 53:38Speaker 1: Christmas and everything else. I don't want them to have
- 53:40Speaker 1: too much, like so many gifts, so many presents, so
- 53:43Speaker 1: many toys.
- 53:44Speaker 2: Like well, Charlo and I.
- 53:45Speaker 1: Both don't want a whole lot of gifts being had
- 53:48Speaker 1: for birthdays and Christmas, like we of course we won't
- 53:52Speaker 1: have a great time. We want them to get things
- 53:53Speaker 1: that they want, but we don't want it to just
- 53:55Speaker 1: be a showering of presence and gifts like on the
- 53:58Speaker 1: day off.
- 53:58Speaker 2: So then when friends do it, I'm like, ah, I
- 54:01Speaker 2: need to do a.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Better job of communicating this is completely unnecessary, Like I
- 54:05Speaker 1: would rather you not do it, because then you give
- 54:08Speaker 1: me gifts. Now I'm thinking I got to get your
- 54:10Speaker 1: kids gifts exactly.
- 54:12Speaker 3: In a great move from the nineties, this is a
- 54:14Speaker 3: very nineties gift. But something my parents would do as
- 54:17Speaker 3: a family gift to another family is if you went
- 54:20Speaker 3: on a trip with them, if you had some holiday
- 54:23Speaker 3: party with them or whatever, where y'all may have had
- 54:25Speaker 3: a big group picture or a big family picture together.
- 54:29Speaker 3: Let's say, like you and Hallett went on that Colorado trip,
- 54:32Speaker 3: y'all probably got a picture of all y'all together, right, yeap,
- 54:36Speaker 3: get a real nice picture frame, nothing too crazy. I
- 54:39Speaker 3: like that, Put the picture in there and write a
- 54:43Speaker 3: really sweet thought out note on the back of how
- 54:47Speaker 3: much the Compton family loves the Howett family. And that's
- 54:50Speaker 3: like a great hey for my family to yours and
- 54:52Speaker 3: they can have it forever.
- 54:54Speaker 1: I need you to stop saying to hell, because Nick's
- 54:56Speaker 1: gonna text me and say I'm expecting a photo now.
- 55:01Speaker 3: You probably will.
- 55:03Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay. The book.
- 55:07Speaker 1: Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins talking to uh, We're
- 55:11Speaker 1: going through clips and then if you come up on
- 55:13Speaker 1: my Instagram through Mel Robbins that I absolutely love for
- 55:18Speaker 1: parenting and like social circles and philosophies and thought processes,
- 55:24Speaker 1: and so we were talking about this book.
- 55:26Speaker 2: So, Derek, thank you very much for this book. Right here.
- 55:29Speaker 2: They Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins.
- 55:31Speaker 3: And Uncle Derek Funcle. Derek says, Will your book I
- 55:34Speaker 3: have not read yet, but I know you're interested in
- 55:36Speaker 3: the Mel Robbins and to Let Them Theory. Although I've
- 55:40Speaker 3: never Although I have never read it, it is a
- 55:43Speaker 3: great reminder that even though outside noise can be loud,
- 55:47Speaker 3: letting the loud noises be loud can help us, and
- 55:49Speaker 3: that is what is important.
- 55:52Speaker 2: M love when Derek Wax is poetic.
- 55:55Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Chef, you want to go next?
- 55:58Speaker 4: I would love to.
- 56:01Speaker 5: This is Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara. Sorry if I
- 56:06Speaker 5: butchered that name. I remember him speaking about this. I'm
- 56:08Speaker 5: excited to hear what he says.
- 56:10Speaker 2: My wife loves that book.
- 56:16Speaker 1: Just say. Look, just came in during that moment. She's like,
- 56:20Speaker 1: she pointed at the library. I was like, look, it's
- 56:22Speaker 1: right there.
- 56:23Speaker 3: Stay strapped.
- 56:24Speaker 2: She stays strapped.
- 56:27Speaker 3: This is what Derek had to say for Chef. He said, Chef,
- 56:30Speaker 3: your book is my personal favorite that I've ever read.
- 56:34Speaker 3: It is about the number fifty restaurant in the world
- 56:37Speaker 3: going to number one, and it took my takeaway was
- 56:43Speaker 3: more than just cooking a good meal, but uh. To
- 56:47Speaker 3: get there is a great story and a great reminder
- 56:51Speaker 3: that everybody needs to be on the same page for
- 56:54Speaker 3: the ship to sail correctly.
- 56:57Speaker 5: Derek, I know you're listening to this because after we
- 57:00Speaker 5: fucked up the episode, we're watching them all the way
- 57:02Speaker 5: through to make sure audio doesn't screw up.
- 57:04Speaker 4: Thank you so much. This is incredible.
- 57:07Speaker 2: You know me. I am.
- 57:09Speaker 4: I love to cook.
- 57:09Speaker 5: I love everything restaurant focused. And I remember you telling
- 57:14Speaker 5: me a little bit about this book. I'm really excited
- 57:16Speaker 5: to give it a read and get back in my
- 57:18Speaker 5: reading back because that's something that I've been wanted to do.
- 57:21Speaker 2: I uh, do something last week's chef, what's up? You
- 57:25Speaker 2: mess up something last week?
- 57:26Speaker 5: No?
- 57:26Speaker 4: I remember the uh?
- 57:28Speaker 2: I remember, I just never knew what really happened it was.
- 57:31Speaker 5: It wasn't actually our fault. It was a computer error,
- 57:35Speaker 5: but we didn't catch it.
- 57:36Speaker 2: That was kind of the gotcha.
- 57:39Speaker 3: From the sound of it. Derek made it to how Mike,
- 57:42Speaker 3: it's a it's a easy catch, easy remindered type of situation.
- 57:48Speaker 5: It was something when we rendered it, yeah, yeah, and
- 57:50Speaker 5: then I would go back and premiere and look and
- 57:52Speaker 5: it was perfectly fine. So it's like the when we
- 57:54Speaker 5: finished it to like basically for people, long story, but yeah,
- 57:59Speaker 5: it was kind of like a weird circumstance.
- 58:02Speaker 2: But the book you got there, that's a popular one.
- 58:07Speaker 3: Yes, I have The Creative Act by Rick Rubin. He said, Sherman,
- 58:11Speaker 3: your book is one of my favorite books on the planet.
- 58:14Speaker 1: Uh, and.
- 58:17Speaker 3: You got my favorite books of a planet that I
- 58:19Speaker 3: bring up and read all the time. It currently sits
- 58:22Speaker 3: on my desk. It is from the great music producer
- 58:25Speaker 3: Rick Rubin. In any time I hit a creative roadblock,
- 58:31Speaker 3: I look up a chapter in this book.
- 58:35Speaker 2: I love that.
- 58:36Speaker 3: Derek, thank you so much for these. This really is
- 58:39Speaker 3: a very thoughtful gift. That's very kind. He was not
- 58:41Speaker 3: planning on doing this on the podcast. He was going
- 58:45Speaker 3: to give it to us, but since you know, because
- 58:48Speaker 3: of all the chaos of traveling and everything, it just
- 58:52Speaker 3: worked out. And I said, well, I think it would
- 58:54Speaker 3: be really nice if you know, we opened it on
- 58:57Speaker 3: the podcast and read the little out I thought, I
- 59:00Speaker 3: thought that would be fun.
- 59:02Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 59:04Speaker 2: I got to open yours now, Shirvan.
- 59:06Speaker 3: Yes, please, I have a gift for Reu, Scottie and
- 59:11Speaker 3: yourself in there.
- 59:13Speaker 1: Right there, right right there. As we were talking about
- 59:16Speaker 1: that earlier. Now I'm opening up a gift and you're like,
- 59:18Speaker 1: I got you a gift. Ru's gotta gift. S guy's
- 59:20Speaker 1: got a gift. Now, I'm like, I gotta get Scarlet.
- 59:21Speaker 3: Aw When you see their gifts, you will go, oh,
- 59:26Speaker 3: I don't, I don't think of them anything. Hey, that's
- 59:31Speaker 3: a hangar and a leveler, and you got two different
- 59:35Speaker 3: levels on their will. You can hold it vertically or horizontally,
- 59:39Speaker 3: and you're able to mark with those little pins at
- 59:42Speaker 3: the bottom. It puts a nice little mark in the
- 59:44Speaker 3: wall that's not going to mess up the paint. I
- 59:46Speaker 3: know that y'all got the new house that you're moving into,
- 59:49Speaker 3: and Charles's gonna be putting you to work hanging up
- 59:51Speaker 3: some stuff, And so I thought I would I would
- 59:54Speaker 3: give Old one shelf a little handicap.
- 59:56Speaker 2: Little Willie one shelf a little handicap just for Waffle.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: That's for scott Zilla. I thought it was about time
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: that scott Zilla got her own water ball, her own
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: water ball. She's always playing with Waffles water bowl, and
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: we've been hearing about on the pond.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: I said in the middle of the floor.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: I said that girl needs her own water bowl man,
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: she jumbo crowns crowns.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: Oh was gonna love this?
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you brought up that menu that you brought home,
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: and so I was like, oh, okay, we'll get We'll
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: get her some coloring book.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: Loves coloring. Man loves coloring. Yeah. Did I see the
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: dad hack last week?
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Or I'm like, get extra bringing home?
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, yeah, that's what it made me think of
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: that that gift.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: She loves loves coloring, loves like artwork and stuff.
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: And then the note is for off the pod. But
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: there's a card on the bag as well.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Oh that's for off the bod. Yeah, yeah, thank you brother.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: That's funny. The water bowl hilarious. I go, it's this wabbles.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: You're like, all know Scotty's got Scotty a couple of gifts.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: She got Scotti her own water bowl to knock to
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: fillip them. Thank you your name Hang on, fellas.
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: No, you're fine, Chef, if you want to go ahead,
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: go ahead and go.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: While we're waiting, I.
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: Got Chef some some Semen Team six essentials, and I
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: got him some PT six essentials as well.
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: Lights flashlights gave and uh, I'll just point out the camera,
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: shure them if you want.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: To, got him a nice little box of Jimmy hats there. Well,
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: since he's still seeming Team six want the boy out
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: there having fun but being safe about it, being responsible.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: Whenever you're ready to join the ranks of PT six,
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: we're here waiting with open arms.

- 1:03:08Speaker 1: and we read emails as well. We'll dive into some comments.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: I have some general comments. I have some new dad
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: and dad life comments. This alms comes from Max Welkin
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: thirty three eighty three on YouTube Buddy Pop, a Team
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: six member with an eight month old girl.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: I've been on Operation night al as.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: Our baby girl has been waking up frequently throughout the
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: night and can only be comforted by being held tough.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: Oh good. After two attempts of putting.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: In the crib and going from dead to sleep to
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: eyes wide open staring in my soul good, I brought
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: her back in the rocking chair and thought, WWWOSD, what
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: would Willie Winshelf do started? So I started terminal list
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: and will now help me get through Operation night out.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: All I needed was a classic great bollipop. In all seriousness,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: I appreciate the pod and relatable content. I say to myself,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: I get to do this during these late nights. I
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: won't be able to hold my baby girl like this forever.
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: And I can already see how fast things change. Thanks boys, Max,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: that is a hell of comment. Thank you brother, and
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: again just that that's tough, like Scotty was kind of
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: like being held. You put her down, her eyes get
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: wide open. One thing I would start doing is, you know,
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: as I'm saying, Sae, my routine is, I'm in the
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: rocking chair and then I get up. I'll go from
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: the rocking chair and stand up, because obviously movement happens,
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: so they might wiggle a little bit as you stand up.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: I kind of sit there and I count to myself
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: for thirty seconds as I do this way back and
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: forth move and I need her to be in a
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: dead sleep, like no movement, no harm, movement, know anything
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: else before go the final like ten seconds in my head.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: But I get this routine pat going on where it's
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: like I'm like, say, I'm popping like this or I'm popping.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Then I skip one, pop again, skip another one, skip
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: another one. And then as I continue to get going,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: I'll keep letting them out to where it gets slower,
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: it gets lighter, it gets all these things. And then
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: as I transition to put her in the crib and
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: she might wiggle and wake up, I immediately try to
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: get her on her side and mimic the routine path
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: that I was doing, so she kind of stays in
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: that element move.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: That's a win. And then again I just keep going.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: I knock out the every other one to where it's
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: one every few seconds.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: I get lighter and lighter, and then to.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: Where my hand is or I'll hold my hand like
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: on her butt so she still feels that pressure, and then.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: I lightly lightly bring it off.
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: And we're and now we're out. We're out, We're now
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: we're out.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: Because you're gonna have to make those transitions anyway whenever
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: you want them to get used to being put down,
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: because where you're going to really knock it out is
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: when you're able to kind of put them down and
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: they're still kind of awake, and then they can put
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: themselves asleep, like that's the goal.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: So that way you can put them down and then
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: walk out of the room.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: So I would just go from that whole routine going
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: down to where she stays asleep. Then if she's waking up,
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: I'm still trying to do the same thing. She might
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: whine a little bit, but I'll keep the bat going
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: and I'll get down on her knee and keep doing
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: the pat and kind of southe through my voice just
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: to let her know, hey, I'm here, You're safe, that
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: I can't pick you up, because we're trying to teach
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: you that you can't just be held the entire.
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: Time for you get to get to sleep.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: Then eventually they'll start getting the routine and go and
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: it'll be it'll continue continually get better. But those would
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: be kind of my steps if you are struggling where
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: they have to be held the entire time on trying
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: to figure out that progression to where you'll eventually be
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: able to put them down.
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: The good shot, I think a serious dad hack.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: That's a serious daddad hack because it gets it gets
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: you know, you think good, you think all these things,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: but you're in there just like godly, come on man,
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: like being a dead sleep Please, for the love of God,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: don't wake up when I put you down. So I'll
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: just find these things that kept attaching her to what
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: she might have felt being in my.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Arms with the pats.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: Put her down, keep the same pack going, hopefully she
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: doesn't move. If she does, you get to a level
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: of where you're just on the outside of the crib.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: Talking to or.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: Not looking at them, but talking to him, letting them
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: know they're says they're gonna.
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: Be all right, Jill, Jill's gonna hate me out. Keep
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: this quick, and Jill is going to hate me bringing
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: this up because I haven't brought it up to her yet.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: But I'm starting to notice when Jill's doing bedtime, Scarlet
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: has two or three little cries before she finally gets
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: to bed. Yeah, and when dad has does bedtime, y'all brother,
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: she's out on my shoulder like a light.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: Ain't no crying, ain't no cry.
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: Hey, what what happened the other night? When I hopped
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: on the game with you? I go Scarlet Stern, hold on,
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: let me go get no, it was gooman hey and
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: knock on wood. I'm setting myself up for some kid.
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: Yos you are.
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: Because what happens is you start to let him know, like, hey,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: what's going on? Like if you ever are tell them
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: what I would tell Charo is because.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: She hits me with all They're different with me than
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: they or you.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: YadA YadA, listen, it is what it is. I know
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: what I know what kind of process I roam. Once
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: I get in that room and I tell her. I'm like, hey,
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: if you ever want to come shadow me, well you
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: you can wash me from afar to see if like
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: you're hitting the things that you need to hit.
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: Because when that seven thounds goes down, Scarlett's gull it
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: and I get her up on right here, right here,
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: Oh dog, this game over. I'm not even patton. She's
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: already slump on my shoulder. And then I'm just did
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: did to do as long as I want, singing maybe
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: one or two songs, and she's out like a light.
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: And I've kept it to myself. This is my first
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: time kind of talking about Jill's gonna hear this and
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: be pissed because I kind of alluded to it on
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: her third like to go check on her, I go,
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: do you think she might want? Like like she is
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: she old enough to kind of like know the difference,
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: And she was like no, then no.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: That's slow.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: I was like, okay, like, hey, look, I know you
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: crushed it. I've noticed a couple of things. We won't
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: bring them up, but I do want you to know
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: the offer is always there if you want to come
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: shadow in the room while I do bedtime.
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: Sure, I'm not a dad and that's scary. You're bringing
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: up a universal language. I mean you apply to just
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: we're walking down a treacherous path.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: I'm just like, Hey, you know, you think she wants
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: me to go in there and go, you know, put
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: the passy back in. Maybe yeah, her a little bit.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: Hey, you need me to close this deal?
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: And how does that sound? Scarlet? Does that work? Yeah?
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: I think we can go to bed. I have a
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: comment from Tyler Schiller. Pass this along to sherm babysitter tip.
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: Have your wife find a local Nashville babysitter Facebook group
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: and post it in there. This is where we find

- 1:11:56Speaker 3: for Christmas. They have come in from the Black Friday
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: sale or whenever they're shouting out their wives for thank
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: you so much, blah blah blah. These MT sixers are
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: the ones supplying these PT sixers with the gear, and

- 1:12:38Speaker 3: Okay, Earl La laberte PT six. I've been deployed on

- 1:12:46Speaker 3: your top secret ops with Ollipop, mission success has been achieved,
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: perhaps a bit too successfully. Classic Grape has officially infiltrated
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: my daily rations and now I'm completely hooked. I can't vote,
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: i can't sleep, and I'm always reaching for the sweet,
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: healthy carbonation of an ollipop. You've created a new recruit
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: in the ranks of Ollipop addicts. I'm now a proud
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: member of pt SICCO and a certified great Commander.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: Hey, there's some stuff in the works with Ollipop and
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: for the dads, it's all I'll say, I'll leave.
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: Wait hey, wait dead all right, we'll talk after the
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: pod because I want to hear about that.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: Or the dads busts and Ollipop just stuff in the works.
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: And again, a lot of the really a lot.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Of the feedback from from Ollipop is they absolutely love
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: how the dad community embraces embraces it on for the
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: dads like how we kind of talk about it.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: Every week. We got people talk about allipop and comments,
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: calling in voicemails, making videos.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: Yeah, and I just tell our people, I'm like, yeah,
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: it is a match made in Heavan, man, Like this
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: is a partnership that needs to happen.
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: Hey, come on, man, come on man.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: Here we go from my be on spot the last
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: one here.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: Recently new PT six member with a five week old girl. Congratulations.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: Mike, a colleague of mine, shared the pod while in
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: basic training and pregnancy, but didn't start listening until deep
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: in the trenches of the first few weeks, looking for

- 1:20:14Speaker 3: Willie talked about the Daddy watch Me stage. Well, I
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: got one. My two year old son is in the
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: Daddy I do this stage. Good wants to port his
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: own water water all over the floor. Good wants to
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: feed the dogs dog food all over the floor. Even
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: Better wants to get his own food out of the fridge,
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: food everywhere. Good wants to put sprinkles on the cookie,
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: dumps half the sprinkle can all over, half of half
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: of the cookie and half on the floor.
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: Good that right there. He just brought up the eye.
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: I do this stage like that is for sure coming
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: with Rue, Like she's missing the bend and she wants
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: to do everything. Sometimes I got to stop her from
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: doing stuff like this, so you know this is gonna
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: be a disaster.
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: One of our favorite family inside jokes is a family friend.
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: I'll use the name Sarah to stay anonymous, but one
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: time the mom said, hey, you better listen because I'm
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: the boss, and her little two year old turned around
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: and said, no, Sarah the boss. And that's like our
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: most quoted like inside joke of the family of just
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: like those little kids are like, I am the captain now.
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: Sar Jora was saying that Rue hit her with I
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: forget what Charles said to her, but Rue hit her with, no,
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: I'm my own person.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: Oh yeah, okay, Rue.
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I am my own person.
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: That's the herd turn in black. That's what we need.
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that. That's welcome to the aga. Yeah.
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: I'm praying for you, buddy.
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh yeah, Bro.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: She's she's she's strong willed, she's going to be she's tough.
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: But you see the potential. I'm fired up for.
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: Absolutely. We have h what'd you say, yeah, Collins voicemails.
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: We'll just do one.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: Yeah, let's say one voicemail because I got a couple
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: of emails here too. We'll do one voicemail in three
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: total emails.
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: This is recreating outfits.
- 1:22:30Speaker 6: Hey, PT six, Mike from Cleveland.
- 1:22:32Speaker 8: I wanted to also say something from the last episode
- 1:22:36Speaker 8: that Sharan was talking about this a little bit of
- 1:22:38Speaker 8: a dad hack, because Sharan was talking about how he
- 1:22:42Speaker 8: was catching a little flak from daycare about how it
- 1:22:45Speaker 8: looks like Dad picked out the outfit. And they ratted
- 1:22:48Speaker 8: him out to mom, and just to put you on
- 1:22:52Speaker 8: some game. A little bit of a hack that I
- 1:22:55Speaker 8: came across and had been doing is that I'd throw
- 1:22:59Speaker 8: on outfits from pictures that we have, you know, like
- 1:23:02Speaker 8: everyone's got that little family album. I go into the
- 1:23:05Speaker 8: family album sometimes and I'll look at pictures that I
- 1:23:07Speaker 8: know Mom, you know, I had put together that my
- 1:23:10Speaker 8: wife had put together.
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: So I just recreate what she's done before.
- 1:23:14Speaker 8: Sometimes you got to look recently and the other day.
- 1:23:18Speaker 6: Because I do all pick up and drop off too.
- 1:23:20Speaker 8: Sure my wife is is a nurse, just like your wife,
- 1:23:22Speaker 8: and so uh so I'm picking up and dropping off
- 1:23:24Speaker 8: and dressing sometimes in the morning where she's got to
- 1:23:26Speaker 8: be there early. And so they recently just said, this
- 1:23:29Speaker 8: is like the best dressed baby that we got coming
- 1:23:32Speaker 8: in here. And and uh you know, of course I
- 1:23:34Speaker 8: can't let them know that Mom's calling the plays. Mom
- 1:23:37Speaker 8: wrote the playbook. I'm just the quarterback that's executing them.
- 1:23:40Speaker 8: So you know, you get to catch a little credit there.
- 1:23:42Speaker 8: So for all the other dads not sure what's going
- 1:23:45Speaker 8: on and what to pick off from the drawer, that's
- 1:23:47Speaker 8: a little hack h to get you by all right, boys,
- 1:23:50Speaker 8: stay shraw pt six out.
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: I love it.
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: That's a great phone call. That's a great love that.
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: I get.
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: Humility. He's like, my wife's the coordinator on the quarterback. No,
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: your wife's the head coach. You're the coordinator on the field.
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: Call in the places. You might have the book ready
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: to go, but somebody you got to be instinctual when
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: you're out there making these plays, you're the.
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: One doing it.
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: Whenever in the future people start looking, you start to look,
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: and I'm.
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: Gonna get promoted. I'm gonna go be a head man somewhere.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: This is These are the philosophies and the books you
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: keep prepared and ready to go for whenever you do
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: get that big payday and leave your wife and go
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: command your own team.
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, ah, leave that. That was such a
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: great call. What was that guy's first name? Just so
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: I can does he say it? At the very beginning?
- 1:24:38Speaker 5: I don't want to go back into the computer speel
- 1:24:40Speaker 5: can see you're chef.
- 1:24:42Speaker 4: I don't think you said his name?
- 1:24:44Speaker 6: No shit, did he.
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: All that being said? Dude, great call in and love
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: that your wife is also a nurse. Love that you're
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: doing the pickup drop offs. I felt so heard by
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: that voicemail Like that truly made my heart so happy.
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: And a grid Dad Hacket heard.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: And there's a solution in there that you can you
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: can legitimately learn from.
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: Yes, apycat league man, copycat.
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: Lee, copycat league. That's an easy one. I'll apply that
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: this next week. Uh, did you have some emails?
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: Yeah? So I got a couple of emails. Here one.
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: This first one is from Daniel Edwards. Boys. I'm a
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: father of three, a ten year old, a three year old,
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: and a newborn.
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: I just found your podcast about a week ago and
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: it is already my new favorite podcast.
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: Shout out, Daniel. Let's go. All the stories are relatable,
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: and I love knowing I'm not alone.
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: Your advice, your advice about everything being good and putting
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: in the relief pitcher got me in trouble. I just
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: got home from work when my wife immediately handed me
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: the baby saying she saying he needed a nap. I
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: started rocking in the living room chair. Meanwhile, the toddler
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: wanted to see how loud she could be. Good, She
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: threw the toys everywhere.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: Good.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: The ten year old needed help with her homework. And
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: it's the new math, not the mat that we grew
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: up on. It's the new mat that they're doing. Now good.
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: I'm sitting here trying to rock the baby and see
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: that mom is getting flustered. I think to myself, this
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: is it. She's gonna put in the lefty. I smile
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: and think I get to deal with this. I'm smiling
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: ear to ear. The call comes into the bullpen, but
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: it comes with a pep talk.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: Why are you smiling? This is not funny. You deal
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: with it.
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: I love the podcast and thank you for making one
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: that shows that it's okay to mess up.
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: We're all human. That's nice to a Milk Team sixer.
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: She doesn't even know she's a Milk Team sixer. What
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: are you gritting about? What are you smiling about? This
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: ain't funny because.
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: I've been waiting for this moment in my entire life. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: this is what it's all about.
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: What do you mean while am I smiling? These are
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: the moments I prayed for.
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: You know, there's two men that I think when you're
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: talking to me like this, you ever heard of a
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: fat staff or Willie one? Shall they talk about this
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: a lot? Honey talk about this exact moment.
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: Yeah, this is exactly and when the Cavs is just
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: funling in, just chaos and suing, you sit back, you smile.
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: Good.
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: He's doing a villain monologue, like he's monologuing before he
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: even jumps into help. Just letting the wife know. I
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: have two fun comments that are very short, and then
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: you can read another email.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: You want to do that, let's do that.
- 1:27:21Speaker 3: This one comes from our friend Josiah comedian Discovery. He said,
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: Willie h Vac reporting for duty. Love watching the Diddy
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: doc while my three year old colors good.
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: Well the three year old.
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: This is a Christmas card. I wanted to make sure
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: that we got on the pot. It was email to
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: us as well, so that came from the Schroeder family.

- 1:28:22Speaker 1: I found the podcast and my husband Jordan, who listens
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: to you all religiously. He's even gotten a few words
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: of the dads that we have in our family to
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: start listening as well.
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: From bustling with the boys to now for the dads.
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: We ourselves are not parents, not by choice, but because
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: of myself being infertile due to having stage four.
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: Endo matriosis. We tried.
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: We tried for about two years to have a child,
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: but the odds were against us, and we decided to
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: stop all fertility treatments and came to the conclusion that
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: we are happy with just us and our cat. We
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: are we pour all of our love into our eleven
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: nieces and nephews.
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: My husband has shown me the episodes.
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: Where Will has talked about his and his wife's journey
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: with fertility and IVF.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: Thank you guys for being so opened with that.
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: We know it can be a very sensitive subject and
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: to talk about, and I just want to say how
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: appreciative we, and I'm sure many others are that you
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: have talked about it so openly. My husband's not a dad,
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: but I know he would have been the best because
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: he's an amazing uncle and the best cat dad. Thank you,
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: guys for making this podcast for what it is, and
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: for not getting not giving only my husband, but many
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: others a fun, safe place to come together.
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: So much love to you and your family. Stay blessed God.
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: A man, that's that.
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: Thanks you deal. The tears are almost gonting to come
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: on that one.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: Yeah, man, the the infertility stuff, I can only imagine
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: being in their shoes and getting to a point to
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: where you're just like, all right, it's just not going
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: to happen for us. I'm sure those conversations are super heavy.
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: I'm sure super emotional. I'm sure both sides feel like
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: it's their fault.
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: At times.
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: Each side probably gets concerned or scared or fear creeps
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: in at the other like, Hey, I know you're my teammate.
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: Are we sure we're okay with this? Are you sure
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: you're okay with this?
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: I know you want to fail, like you know those
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: conversations that I'm just assuming they're having those conversations.
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: I'm not saying that they are.
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: Well, I'm sure that's very that's that's very difficult. And Anna,
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: thank you, Thank you for writing in. George, shout out
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: you for listening to Bus with the Boys, shout out
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: for listening before the Dads.
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: I'm glad you love this podcast.
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: I will say this because I haven't talked to them.
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: I need to. But I had a couple of friends
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: that I've brought up to you outside of the pod before,
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: and yeah, they had been trying for a while and
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: like a very long time, and they just found out
- 1:30:57Speaker 3: that they're pregnant. And it like getting to see that
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: desire like firsthand, and like knowing how much they wanted it.
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: It just makes comments like that like hit so much harder.
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: And so it was George and Anissa correct Jordan's and
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: Aissa apologies. Yeah, just so much love goes out to
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: you guys, especially around the holidays, and y'all just sound
- 1:31:30Speaker 3: like incredible people. Y'all sound like you have a great
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: view and great optics on your life and just planning
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: your family and loving others well. And we're really really
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: lucky that there are people like that in this world
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: and are deserving and I wish more than anything, uh
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: that you know, maybe one day, but gosh, y'all are
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: so deserving. You sound incredibly delightful.
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, And how lucky are those nieces and nephews
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: or they have Like again, it's so easy to write
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: it down that we pour into our nieces and nephews.
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: If they do that, they do do that, them doing
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: that intentionally knowing all the probably pain, anger, fear that
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: they've had throughout the entire process. And to have that
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: perspective when going into the room around your nieces and
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: nephews and not having like an envy or jealousy which
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: I'm sure creeps up at times, like we're all human. Yeah,
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: and just to know like that stuff to side, because hey,
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: this is how we are going to get to do
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: this is by pouring into our cat, pouring into our
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: nieces and nephews.
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: Like you said, they sound like wonderful people.
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: That's the luckiest cat in North America. I can probably
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: be lucky.
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: He's getting North America.
- 1:32:51Speaker 3: Man, that thing is getting some belly scratches out the wazoo.
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, But thank you for writing in Anessa. We
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: love you, guys.
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: We appreciate your k Smith's Happy holidays.
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: Happy Honuicah, have at Gwanda. All of it, man, all
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: of it man.
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: The only person to quote.
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: Anything I got for you guys this week is just
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: what I said in the very beginning.
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: Joy over stress again.
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: There's a lot of families out there where they have
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: families visiting. You're going to visit, you're traveling with kids,
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: you're hosting a lot of whatever it is. There's gonna
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: be families out there that probably don't have anybody coming over.
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: It might just be them, and things will feel very stressed.
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: So things can feel very stressful on the holidays.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: Myself, I lost my mom right before Christmas four years ago,
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: So Christmas time to me, I adore Christmas. I love
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: everything that we're about to do and about to get
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: to and I always have those fleeting thoughts of this
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: time and the way I felt four years ago around Christmas.
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: To the holiday season.
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: So there's a lot of stress that can easily pour
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: into your mind and body, like when holiday season is coming,
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: especially the day of when your kids are shredding presence.
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: They're doing this, Oh, we want to the dinner first,
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: we should eat breakfast before we do breath. There's gonna
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: be chaos all over the place. Kids are gonna want
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: to play with their toys, and not do what you
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: thought you had planned, but just choose joy over stress.
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: That would be my biggest That is what I'm thinking
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: as we go in because as this week was unwinding
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: on me now, I felt behind the eight ball with
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: busting and the rub being sick, and then you know,
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: getting back from traveling and being gone in New York
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: for a few days to trying to get back in it.
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: It's hard to get back in it. Your little one
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: gets sick, the charl and Scotty, the other ones get sick,
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: tower House is sick. Hey, we might not be able
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: to do for the dad say, I don't think I
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: could shoot show up to the locker room like all
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: the things where it's like my parents are coming.
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: Damn, I forgot to get gifts for a few different people.
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: I'm doing all this last minute stuff to where it
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: just feels stressful at times, and I'm just the approach
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: that I'm thinking of now is brother, choose joy over stress,
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: Like these are the moments you want, these are the
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: moments you've looked for.
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: I could not retweet you harder. That's my exact message.
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: I had a thing written out, but basically it breaks
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: down to I think the only Christmas where I really
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: remember gifts was when we got our Nintendo sixty four
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: and I got my hands on GoldenEye and Hockey. Your boy.
- 1:35:17Speaker 3: Will never forget bawling my eyes out and fighting and
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: crying with my brother. That's Will's age four years older
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: than me, as he was saying all the video games
- 1:35:29Speaker 3: that were the good ones, those were all his. But
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: I could have Mario Kart, but he got to have
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: all the big boy video games.
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: But same with Second Genesis. I'll always remember open up
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: a Second Genesis.
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: Oh yeah, dude, Oh yeah, it's always.
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: A video game console. Outside of that, Yeah, you go on,
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: you continue.
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: Well, just all that being said, like gifts, I feel
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: like that's kind of the overarching Everybody always says, hey,
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: it's not about the gifts, But what I would go
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: a step for there is I feel like my family
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: did a really good job of making memories on Christmas
- 1:36:05Speaker 3: Day or the days around it, of we would go
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: on jeep rides with my aunt. She fixed up old
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: jeeps and we would go with the top down. She
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: lives in Tallahassee, and we'd go on these jeep rides
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: like around Christmas ay, and I remember like being wrapped
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: in the blankets, like in the back of her jeep
- 1:36:24Speaker 3: with all of us like crammed in there, and like
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: giggling and blasting Christmas music and my grandmother being in
- 1:36:31Speaker 3: there and going horseback riding, going we did a bike
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: ride on a nature trail one year. Like we would
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: always do these activities, and like that's what I think
- 1:36:44Speaker 3: of whenever I think of Christmas. It's like those really
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: fun activities that we would do. And so I would
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: just say to any pt sixers, empty six ers looking
- 1:36:52Speaker 3: to create magic, planned some kind of fun little adventure
- 1:36:57Speaker 3: to do on Christmas Day or around Chris Smith's, those
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: are the memories that the kids are gonna.
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: Remember Well, said bro Well said even those moments too,
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: like where it's like it's not about gifts, people are right,
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: but also think about the moment around opening a gift
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: that you were wanting or expecting or whatever.
- 1:37:17Speaker 7: It is.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: Excitement that your parents are we like, as parents are
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: going to pour in when those moments are happening that
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: they will remember.
- 1:37:26Speaker 2: It's like, all right, dude, I remember being so.
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: Fired up, saying Genesis, my dad was fired up for me,
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: my mom was fired up for me brother.
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: You're sitting there kind of like, oh is this ours
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: or is this mine?
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: You know, you're kind of going back and forth there,
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: But just the environment and moment around the gift opening
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: is uh, dude, it's special. I'm excited we got we
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: got Rue. Can't tell her U can't listen to the podcast,
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: but we got her. She wanted two things. She wanted
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: a bike, and she wanted, for whatever reason, she wanted binoculars.
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: So so we got her a bike. I'm so fired
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: up for her to see her bike. Oh and then
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: the binoculars, Like I'm I'm just excited to see what
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: her reaction is going to because I'm thinking it's crazy
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: she wants binoculars.
- 1:38:09Speaker 2: But hey, that's what you told saying you wanted.
- 1:38:12Speaker 3: You know what the lesson of the week of Rue
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: is this week is that girl knows what she wants
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: and I can admire that.
- 1:38:20Speaker 4: Hey will, Yeah, you know what you need to do?
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: Have your the old trick of hide it somewhere else.
- 1:38:27Speaker 5: That's not like around the tree, get all the gifts
- 1:38:29Speaker 5: done you Christmas is over. Yeah, you hit her with
- 1:38:33Speaker 5: the Hey the rider, Rue, can you can you go out?
- 1:38:36Speaker 5: We need to go to the garage to grab something.
- 1:38:38Speaker 5: You hide it somewhere like away. It's the smoking mirrors,
- 1:38:42Speaker 5: it's a it's a great play.
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: Hey, it's the Red Rider. Be begun real real quick.
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: Shout out the Christmas. My parents got me a dirt bike.
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: First off, my parents were so fucking awesome now that
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: I like think back to the gifts. I had a
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: go cart and a dirt bike because we lived out
- 1:38:59Speaker 3: in the cornt And country.
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: Will any boys that had a go car?
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: Bro?
- 1:39:04Speaker 6: Oh?
- 1:39:05Speaker 3: Boys, I'm telling you. And we lived like in this
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: big abandoned creek bed, like I mean ripping through there.
- 1:39:13Speaker 3: Y'all would have loved hanging out my place. But uh yeah.
- 1:39:17Speaker 3: They had the dirt bike hiding at our neighbor's house
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: for like a week, and the neighbors came and rolled
- 1:39:25Speaker 3: it into the garage.
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: Dude.
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: The magic of them us going outside and the garage
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: door opening and my dad who clicked that, Hey, what's
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: going on? The garage door opening? What is that? What's
- 1:39:38Speaker 3: that right there? Oh my god, I was staring that
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: dirt bike down, like, bro, there is so much magic
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: and gift giving.
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: That's so there is there is.
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: I can't wait, man, dude, every year. I don't know
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: if I said this last week or not, but every
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: year it would be you know, my mom, no matter
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: what the Christmas story had to be on.
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: Did I say that last week?
- 1:40:00Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yes, TNT Marathon, Baby Marathon, The.
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: Red Rider be begun? What's that? What's what's that over there?
- 1:40:10Speaker 6: It up?
- 1:40:10Speaker 2: That's the scene, that's the moment, that's.
- 1:40:12Speaker 4: The I forget when. But my dad did that to me.
- 1:40:15Speaker 5: I think it was with a bike where he was like, hey,
- 1:40:18Speaker 5: you need to go grab this out of the out
- 1:40:21Speaker 5: of the fridge out in the garage, and I went
- 1:40:23Speaker 5: out there and he pulled there was something like that
- 1:40:25Speaker 5: where he pulled a double look.
- 1:40:26Speaker 4: On me, and it's as a kid, it's like the
- 1:40:29Speaker 4: best thing ever.
- 1:40:30Speaker 6: It's oh yeah, because.
- 1:40:31Speaker 5: You're a little down, you've been asking for it for
- 1:40:33Speaker 5: like four months. Oh yeah, dude, God I could, I could?
- 1:40:35Speaker 5: You could get everything else off the tree. If it's
- 1:40:37Speaker 5: just this one thing, you get rid of it all.
- 1:40:39Speaker 5: And then you're in Christmas and it's like you're grateful,
- 1:40:42Speaker 5: of course, because you're you know, got all these awesome gifts.
- 1:40:46Speaker 4: But then it's like the switch in and you're like,
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: oh my god, this might be the best fucking Christmas.
- 1:40:50Speaker 3: Hey, last Dad hack, last Dad hack, And I meant
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: to say this. My dad and mom were crazy good
- 1:40:57Speaker 3: at the Santa stuff. One year we were getting a puppy,
- 1:41:00Speaker 3: but we had to pick up the puppy from the breeders.
- 1:41:04Speaker 3: And so the way that my dad was able to
- 1:41:07Speaker 3: trick us and make it into like a really great
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: surprise is that we were going to go run an
- 1:41:12Speaker 3: errand and we were out running the errand in his car.
- 1:41:15Speaker 3: He rolled down the window because he had to spit
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: out the window and he had a note from Santa
- 1:41:21Speaker 3: that he did a little sneaky whoop and it flew
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: back into the back. Didn't say a word. So Jordan
- 1:41:28Speaker 3: and I, my brother, go, what was that that just
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: flew in my dad's Like, what are you talking about?
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: It's a letter from Santa saying go to this address,
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: I have this gift for you. Like that, you know,
- 1:41:41Speaker 3: I want you to bro It was a move of
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: the century. I thought until I was twelve years old
- 1:41:47Speaker 3: that Santa magically made that note fly into our car.
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: Yo. I love that.
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: Such a move, for sure, such a move.
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: I love that, dude. That is a great move.
- 1:41:59Speaker 3: Good dude, and you just let the kids kind of,
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: you know, fill in all the blanks.
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: Know when you're young too and your mom gets you
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: like stud you know. I don't know if your guys
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: experience did this, but like whether it be in a
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: gift or in my stocking and be like a pack
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: of underwear or a pack of socks.
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: And I was just like, what is this hadn't been
- 1:42:18Speaker 2: on any of my lists. I've written Santa Claus, some
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: like Fruit of the Loom or Hanes Underwear.
- 1:42:25Speaker 5: I'm just like, look that this isn't the trampoline, the
- 1:42:28Speaker 5: full size trampoline.
- 1:42:29Speaker 3: I at that was the that was the benefit of
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: having miss Amy as my mom and just the goofy, fun,
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: creative artist brain that she had of like our stocking
- 1:42:40Speaker 3: gifts every year were that underwear socks, you know, just
- 1:42:44Speaker 3: like like essentials, Yeah, essentials, but she would always get
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: just the weirdest, quirkiest fuzzy socks or this type of
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: funny underwear and dah dah dah, and like that's that's
- 1:42:57Speaker 3: a nice little dad hack for anybody out there. You know,
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: get the socks to get the underwear, for sure, but
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: like you can get fun and creative with it, and
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: I always have thought it was so funny. Like just
- 1:43:09Speaker 3: the little stocking stuffers my mom would get were just
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: like where do you even find this stuff? It wasn't
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: like it was expensive or nicer thing. It was just
- 1:43:18Speaker 3: like where did you actually get? Yeah, it was like
- 1:43:22Speaker 3: the air mall. What was that called on airplanes back
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: in the day, you know, the little magazines and the
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: airplanes that would have like the Harry Potter WANs and
- 1:43:32Speaker 3: all those. I would say, I stopped seeing a sky mall.
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: Sky mall, that's what it was called. It was in
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: the back of your airplane seat. You would pull out
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: the sky mall magazine and oh brother, you were probably
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: from ages eight to sixteen.
- 1:43:50Speaker 2: I bet got she was.
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: I never got a I never rode a plane until
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: after my senior year high school.
- 1:43:58Speaker 3: Oh for nebrassa guy.
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: Yeah, essentially, my first plane ride ever was when I
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: went to the like Offense Defense High School All American
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: Game in January of two thousand of two thousand and eight.
- 1:44:13Speaker 2: That was my first time and I flew by myself.
- 1:44:15Speaker 3: And was that chartered? Like was that flight for the players?
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: No? No, no, no, no, They're like I got picked to
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: go to the game.
- 1:44:23Speaker 2: So I we driveled the Saint Louis Airport.
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: I get on the flight, probably Southwest fly down to Miami.
- 1:44:30Speaker 2: Got it first time flying solo doo too.
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: Did you feel like just such an adult, such a groan,
- 1:44:37Speaker 3: like an adult nervous?
- 1:44:39Speaker 2: Yeah, because was my first plane. You know what I mean?
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: Like you, it's not like my mom could go past
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: security and everything else with me.
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: And now you're nervous, like, oh, okay, I can't miss
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: this flight.
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: I figure out what all these letters and numbers mean
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: getting to the gate.
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: And that Christmas in New y jungle something, it's something.
- 1:45:03Speaker 2: None and you can't too. All right, boys, we got it, roll.
- 1:45:08Speaker 3: Get out of here. Hey day, Thank you for making
- 1:45:10Speaker 3: this happen.
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely shut up.
