- 0:00Hello, soul siblings. Hello, sun shines. Hello, divine and magical beings. Welcome or welcome back to the soul salon a soulful place a healing place of
- 0:12Feeling place for the dreamers for the feelers for the healers
- 0:16I am so grateful to have you with me today and today we are going to be talking about
- 0:21Seven reasons you fear your own success from a spiritual point of view
- 0:27I created a video on this on YouTube and on my podcast and it was my most viral video on YouTube
- 0:34And so I thought you know, let's give the people more of what they want
- 0:37So let's jump right in and get into the first reason and the most important reason why you fear your own success
- 0:44So you feel your own success because you fear your own power
- 0:49Especially because you've only really been given very negative and violent and toxic examples of what power
- 0:57Means our understanding of power is shaped by a colonial and capitalist and white supremacist and male
- 1:04supremacist
- 1:06Conception of what it means to have power
- 1:09In this paradigm power is usually used for nefarious ends and all we have to do is look to nature to see that power is in
- 1:18Everything the sun has power to truly allow us to have life on this planet
- 1:24The water has power to nourish and to hydrate and also to flood and obliterate
- 1:30The bird has the power to sing a song and not even by their own intention
- 1:35Perhaps we could say create beautiful music only as they communicate to one another or perhaps the birds do intend to make music
- 1:41And they have the power to do that and you my love have the power to
- 1:47Move hearts to move minds to heal to bring beauty and love and truth to
- 1:53Be part of a movement to help bring more freedom more love more liberation
- 1:59To support a friend or to ask for support the power for your words to shift the way that others also treat you
- 2:06And if you think about this, why would you fear this power?
- 2:10Well, let's look at the idea from a spiritual perspective again the complete
- 2:15Origin of power. What if you met the source of everything?
- 2:20What if you met God? What if you met Allah? What if you met whatever energy is the beginning of the beginning?
- 2:26The end of the end the black hole of the black hole the void of the void and
- 2:32You imagine meeting whatever caused this universe that we live in that is so profound
- 2:37I get tingles and so inexplicable in so many ways if you met whatever caused that to be
- 2:44Whoever doesn't have to be one entity whatever you believe in for me sources what I believe in
- 2:50You may believe in Allah. You may believe in God. You may not believe in anything
- 2:53But use your imagination if you met such a thing without claiming that it actually exists or not
- 3:00How would you feel
- 3:12You would certainly feel all
- 3:15reverence
- 3:16But I know you can feel it or if you can't you're about to you would also feel fear
- 3:24This might feel like too much for you. You might think who am I to be meeting God?
- 3:30What will I say what do I even present as what do I ask?
- 3:36How do I behave it's God it's source it's the beginning of the beginning
- 3:41It's the eye of the eye. So that fear you feel that all you feel and I just started a book on all and the author
- 3:52Defines all as the feeling of being in the presence of something vast
- 3:59That transcends your current understanding of the world or is a particular blend of
- 4:07Of reverence so deep respect deep admiration something that we revere you look up to you have this deep and
- 4:17visceral admiration of
- 4:19as well as fear and
- 4:22Submission you look at a mountain you look at the ocean and you get that feeling of feeling small a kind of
- 4:28Smallness that restores you to yourself. It's not a humiliating smallness. It's not a diminishing smallness
- 4:34It's ironically paradoxically
- 4:36And mysteriously
- 4:39It's a smallness that makes you feel
- 4:43Connected to something bigger
- 4:45Because you are in awe because you are in reverence
- 4:49Because you realize how small you are in the context of everything and yet the fact that you are part of this everything
- 4:57Okay, I think that's so profound and so one of the questions that the author asks that I'll leave you with is
- 5:03What is an experience that you have had where you have encountered a vast mystery that transcends goes beyond goes further than
- 5:15Your current understanding of the world a
- 5:19vast mystery
- 5:22And again the book is called all the new science of everyday wonder and how it can transform your life
- 5:29And the author is called Dasha Keltner who is a professor of psychology at the University of California
- 5:37So back to the topic. Why do you fear your own success? What if my love and wait for this wait for it
- 5:44You are in awe of yourself
- 5:46You are in awe of yourself
- 5:49So when we think about the fact that all is the blend of reverence submission and fear
- 5:54You feel the fear, but you don't ask yourself. Where's the reverence in this?
- 5:59What am I revering if you look at this is one mountain of all okay the mountain represents all
- 6:06You're seeing the one side of the mountain, which is fear and you're feeling that fear and you're tapped in
- 6:11But you're not allowing yourself to maybe go to a different angle and say well from a different angle
- 6:15What if I'm in awe of my own gifts of my own magic especially because I grew up in a society that didn't teach me
- 6:23To even conceive of myself in such language
- 6:27Never taught me to see myself as having these gifts and the gifts I always say this
- 6:33We mean this in a very expansive and inclusive way
- 6:36We mean the gift of being able to listen deeply the gift of being intuitive the gift of being sensitive
- 6:42or the gift of being an incredible mathematician or the gift of being
- 6:47Wonderful at playing the piano. It can be any sort of range of gifts the gift of speaking with your entire being and presence
- 6:54That's one of my gifts
- 6:56The gift of speaking from love
- 6:58Being able to carry that frequency and that energy the ability to bring motion
- 7:04Into the consciousness and hearts of others
- 7:09So when you don't grow up in a society that teaches you that you have natural gifts without you even trying
- 7:14It will only teach you to conceive of the reality in a way that reproduces the social order
- 7:18So if you don't do well in school
- 7:21Well, oh, you're not training well to be a worker in the system
- 7:25They're not going to say oh, but you have spiritual and psychic capabilities
- 7:28No one's going to say that in a system that wants to repress
- 7:32deny and control those gifts. That's why they've always
- 7:36tried to
- 7:38demonize the spiritual wisdoms and traditions of indigenous people of women the gifts
- 7:46the hysteria quote unquote so
- 7:49so
- 7:51It's very important to recognize that when you are feeling fear just before this episode recording I felt the fear
- 7:59I felt afraid and actually I listened to my own creation creative activations
- 8:04It's basically a meditation album that I sell that you could listen to before you create which the link is to in the show notes
- 8:09But essentially when you feel the fear next time before you want to create something or before you want to embody something that you already are
- 8:17Maybe you want to have a difficult conversation. Maybe you want to do a spoken word event
- 8:21Maybe you want to host an event to bring community together
- 8:24Maybe you want to create your own community of some kind when you feel that fear
- 8:29What I invite you to ask yourself my darling my love my magical divine being
- 8:34Okay, who is so gifted and so profound and magical literally
- 8:39Ask yourself am I an all of myself? Is this all
- 8:44Sexy isn't that sexy we're not allowed to claim that when if you ever been asked in what way are you and all of yourself
- 8:51And I know we're living in a very self-obsessed culture in many ways which I'm not trying to grow and also
- 8:57We are all here
- 9:00To honor that which we are because it is from that place of honoring that we are able to
- 9:06be
- 9:07In loving service and community with others if we don't have that inner flame that says
- 9:13Here I am and I'm here to offer myself in some way and I have a lot to offer
- 9:20I'm gonna listen to you in a way you've not been heard in a very long time
- 9:23And you're gonna walk away from this conversation feeling so seen what a gift for that person who was craving being heard
- 9:29You were a healer we need to decolonize our understanding of healing that was healing for them
- 9:35So I do think being in awe of your natural self. You're being who you cannot help but be
- 9:42If you cannot help but be thoughtful like it just isn't in your
- 9:46range of being to not want to consider and be thoughtful towards others
- 9:50That is a gift to be in awe of
- 9:52And so next time you feel fear the reason why I think it's important to reclaim the awe of it is they want us stuck in fear
- 9:58Because then you won't create the event then you won't make the video then you won't sing
- 10:03And sing that frequency that gives people chills and moves them in some way to more love to more connection or to more action
- 10:09Maybe you're an activist singer, okay?
- 10:11So the reason we must I think let me not say that the reason I think it's deeply
- 10:17deeply
- 10:18meaningful and critical in this time to honor that awe and transform
- 10:23That fear into something broader that includes it still what I love is we're not saying you're not afraid
- 10:29We're just saying there are other things that are mixed in with this fear that you haven't been taught to hold spaceful
- 10:35And when you are in reverence of yourself and when you are able to say yes, I'm afraid because I am seeing and touching God
- 10:43Literally, I just got tingles. So yes, I'm afraid of making this episode because I'm doing my work
- 10:49I'm doing the work that I feel I'm unearthed to do and that is scary
- 10:54Because I'm touching God when the singer is singing when the poet is writing poetry or reading a poem
- 11:00When the lover is loving they are touching God because they are in their truth
- 11:06They are in that very frequency that they are unearthed to help carry and usher and grow in the world and that my loves
- 11:15That is what we are also afraid of because they want us so out of ourselves like these systems of power and control
- 11:22They don't want us doing our divine work
- 11:24They don't want us in our purpose they don't want us in that because
- 11:27Imagine the whole society would have to shift if everyone only was able to act from a place of purpose
- 11:33Of course, it's a huge privilege
- 11:35To do in this society and it doesn't have to become your job
- 11:39It's just an idea of oh if I'm scared to make the song
- 11:41It's because I'm scared to face myself and I'm scared of my own power
- 11:45And I'm scared of the God within me and I'm scared of the Allah within me and I'm scared
- 11:50Of the power within me
- 11:55But there are beautiful and benevolent and loving forms of power and we must reclaim them
- 12:02We cannot be afraid of being in our own power if we are to usher in a paradigm rooted in love rooted in community rooted in connection
- 12:10rooted in beauty of the spiritual kind where we are all experiencing
- 12:14Beautiful music beautiful moments beautiful food sharing in an imagine
- 12:19Imagine that was our whole lives. That's just what we woke up and thought ourselves
- 12:24How can we make today beautiful
- 12:27Who's gonna create such a world if not you if not us if not we okay? I love you so much
