  [rock music] Hey, everybody.
• 0:27
I think we got a new theme song for sure now. [laughs] This is, I forget what it's called. What does it do? E- Echoes of the Void, I think. Oh, yeah. Or something to that effect. This is a UDO creative thing.
• 0:42
Got- I gotta mention UDO every once in a while. Ooh, rocking with UDO. Last week I let it play at the end of the show, so if you wanna hear it- Listen to last week's show...
• 0:49
so, yeah, listen to last week's show Look at Corey scratch his butt. [laughs] It's the best. I didn't even s- I didn't even notice [laughs] but- Oh my God, you gotta watch it. Got some flannel undies on. Nice.
• 1:00
It's, it's hilarious. Yeah, it was the week of Corey last week. Yeah. It sure was. Well, yeah. I mean, I, I've seen him more last week than I had probably- This year. Yeah, but yeah. [laughs] Yeah, me too.
• 1:10
For sure, me too. That was an awesome weekend. Yeah, it's, uh, s- well, it started with Corey on the show. Yeah. Hope y'all enjoyed Corey Baumann, checkpoint manager- Manager...
• 1:23
of the Riverwest 24 Bonus, bonus checkpoint manager. And, uh, then we saw him Friday at a park show. That was rubbish. Which they sounded good outside. I was very happy with the, uh, the generator and the- Yep...
• 1:36
everything. Yeah. They, they do a- It was a fully self-contained show, so that was awesome. Yeah, what was it? Gorilla Knife Fight and I can't remember the other name of the band. It w- well, one of 'em was a guy.
• 1:48
Yeah, just one dude. And I think he's writing stuff and he's putting it on a machine that he can sing to, but he's looking for a band to make- Gotcha. Yeah, yeah, yeah... the real noises happen at some point.
• 1:57
Then the other band was the two-piece that one would write four songs, one on guitar, one on drums, and then they'd switch, and then the other guy- Were they the band that existed 36 hours earlier? Yes. Yeah, yeah.
• 2:11
Yeah, yeah. We've been a band for 36 hours. [laughs] Love that. Yeah. That was good. Yeah, it was good stuff. [coughs] That was, that was, uh, the beginning of the weekend. Cool. Yeah. Saturday was Fat Tire Tour then.
• 2:23
Yes. Uh, immediately, and- Yeah... Schlabowski was in town and he wanted to get down there early because Phil Peewee, uh, was showing up and may have needed some assistance. Although- Yep, yep...
• 2:37
George, as always, was helping him. But 40 years, 40-year anniversary of the Fat Tire Tour of Milwaukee. Yep. Yep.
• 2:43
I looked at some of the pictures, and I gotta tell you, that one dude who looked like Pee-wee Herman really looked like Pee-wee Herman. The guy with the bald head and the painted- The shellacked, the painted head...
• 2:51
yeah, he just had a painted head. Yeah. Yeah. It was awesome. There were qu- there were a few Pee-wees. It was, uh, it was a, the, like a perfect day. Yeah. 72 degrees or something.
• 3:00
Like, it couldn't have gotten more perfect. Light breeze. Yeah. Light breeze, 400 plus people. I found my, uh, T-shirt doppelganger that I've been rocking for, whatever, 15 years. I'm a loner, dottie, a rebel. I.D.
• 3:12
again? Exact same one, exact same font, picture, everything, except it was black with white lettering. Versus the- White with black lettering... off-white with black lettering. [laughs] Yes.
• 3:23
No, yes, and frayed threadbare everything. I, if we could find- So I did get information, and I have the order in- It's available still... in place. Right, Don? Well, barely, but- Awesome...
• 3:34
I'm grabbing it now so I can have this more, longer in perpetuity. Right? [laughs] Yeah, so we, we, we did do some of the official ride- Uh-huh... and then we did some of the
• 3:43
unofficial side stops, and one of 'em was Holler House, which I just love. Holler House. Yeah. Holler House. Fun times always. Um, we, uh, we're looking at doing a Steel is Real ride again this fall.
• 3:57
I think the penalty box is cleared of all- [laughs] Ne'er-do-well... [laughs] all the people that were making it not fun to do, hopefully. And, uh, Holler House would definitely be on the stop. Yeah. Absolutely.
• 4:11
Unfortunately, Marcy the pat- matriarch? Matriarch. She passed. Passed. Yeah, so, uh- Yeah. A year and a half or something. It's been a while. But Cathy, her daughter, is still there,
• 4:22
and Tom, her husband, who does an awesome tour of Forest Home Cemetery. Nice. Mm. If, if you're in Milwaukee and you wanna check out where all the old beer barons and the department store, uh, moguls and, uh- Mm-hmm...
• 4:35
whatever else, logger barons and whatnot- That's fun... this guy knows the history of that Forest Home Cemetery. I think they do a picnic thing, too, as well. Could.
• 4:44
Yeah, there's the Pabst- It's just like a picnic tour [laughs] in a cemetery. Why not? There's Pabst and Schlitz and Blatz and m- all the, all the old names. We, we need beer pit stops there. Oh, yeah. So.
• 4:53
There was a movement a couple of years ago to show movie, inflatable theater, in one of the cemeteries. I'm like, "Why not?" Yeah. Was it that- Hang with your former l- alive family, and you're watching movies.
• 5:06
I think that's kinda cool. Yeah. Well, they encourage people to come through and see the history through the people that are in the cemetery. Right. So it's definitely something.
• 5:14
There's even a tour, an auto tour, if you just wanna drive through the thing. Oh, cool. And get lost. [laughs] And yeah, it's very confusing. Trust me, you'll get lost. That is, in, well, in that damn cemetery, totally.
• 5:24
Yeah, I'm talking about Saturday night. Oh. Oh. [laughs] Yeah, after the, uh, Fat Tire Tour, we came back here. So we didn't ride, but Tony rode from the Riverwest out to the Turf Benefit, which was fantastic. Oh, wow.
• 5:39
It was fantastic. But you got lost, I heard. I didn't bother to pull up my phone and start directions. I'm like, "I'll get home. I know what I'm doing." Just gotta go north that way.
• 5:48
I'm, I'm, like, driving- You ended up going east though. [laughs] I'm riding, riding, riding. Well, that doesn't help. Next thing I know, I'm outside of the Holt Home Depot.
• 5:53
I'm like, "Oh, wait, I did not go the right way at all." Oh, you're kidding me. You're kinda doing the L instead of the angle. I added, I added four extra miles. No big deal.
• 6:01
Yeah, you didn't go down Forest Home was your mistake. Yeah, that was my mistake. Pretty much. So, but you made it home Who cares? Got to see freaking Scam Likely, The Crosses, freaking Agent Orange killed it.
• 6:15
That, that, I, we- I could not believe how many people [laughs] were at Agent Orange. I turned around, I'm like, "Where'd all you guys come from?" Well, The Crosses did the whole first Detroitsid album. Mm-hmm.
• 6:25
So that was awesome in and of itself, and I, we were both pretty tired so we bailed on waiting the 45 minutes until Agent Orange started, so- D'oh. Right? Well- D'oh...
• 6:36
I, like, it, Dave, I would've let Dave go and I would've had to fend for myself, but I wasn't gonna walk a 12 miles to home, so. Right. Well...
• 6:44
I w- I'm sure I could've figured something out, but I, I was just cashed from the day. And just to add to all that, I watched Agent Orange with Corey Bowman and his wife. Oh, yeah. [laughs] They showed up, too.
• 6:55
Yeah, they were standing- Patty and he had drinks... they were s- they were standing there when we were watching The Crosses. Yeah, that was awesome. I th- I don't know how they did.
• 7:02
I would like to see what the benefit numbers are. But there was a lot of people. Well, there was a comment already by them saying, "Thanks everyone, we should probably do this again next year." I'm like, "Yes." Mm-hmm.
• 7:12
Yes, please. Bring more punk bands, had a great skate. You know, some of those skaters were freaking phenomenal. Um- And they're, and they're the flatlanders- I-...
• 7:19
not even in the park yet, so- Yeah, I missed one guy- That's right... but apparently a dude during the, during the demo did a triple back flip. Oh, nice. On a skateboard- On a skateboard... or on a BMX bike? Skateboard.
• 7:28
'Cause they were also doing BMX demos. BMX, yeah. Yeah. Well, they had, like, a free, uh, uh, free skate going on in the, uh, half pipe. That's cool. [laughs] But there was, like, a roll of, uh, porta potties
• 7:41
right behind that. Uh-oh. And I mean, there was enough space in between. There was like a, you know, a pathway. [laughs] And I came out of one of 'em and I hear somebody go, "Hey, look out."
• 7:53
And [laughs] and just look and I see a board flying in the air. And [laughs] I mean, coming near me but not at me. Right. You know? Like, it's like, whoa. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Send, send that to us.
• 8:04
[laughs] Tony's got a picture of him with Milverine. Yeah, Kim related that, uh, you almost got hatcheted by a, a skateboarder. Yeah, it looked a little worse than it was. So I, I actually skated that half pipe.
• 8:17
That's, like, from seven- that's from the '70s, '77, '78, somewhere in there. Oh, right on. That was the very first demo pipe we had at,
• 8:25
at Surf and Turf before it got covered up by gravel and Belly Button strip club the first time. [laughs] Damn, Belly Button. Then it was unearthed and became Surf and Turf.
• 8:35
Then they covered it up again and it became a DOT staging yard for the freeway- Hmm. Oh, I didn't know that...
• 8:40
redoing it, and then Greenfield got it for a buck after they were done, after the state was done using it, they sold it to Greenfield for a dollar. And wasn't, uh, the mayor of Greenfield cool?
• 8:51
I thought that guy was pretty all right. Yeah, he was pretty sweet. So good stuff happening. The turf is being rebuilt. Come one, come all. No Boom Boom Hubke jam this time, though. [laughs] Did I see Zito there?
• 9:04
I don't know. I didn't. Hmm. Well, I saw Dr. Sushi. [laughs] I saw him bl- like, next, next to you. Thank God I don't have my- [laughs] That's like the second time that I've, like, seen the two of you.
• 9:16
Like, from me to you distance. Oh, shit. I think I know who he is now. [laughs] I thought he was the lead singer of the Love Monkeys, and therefore- No... Charlie's- Nope. Nope, nope, nope. You're wrong. Damn. No.
• 9:29
No, not, not... I can tell who you think you're thinking it is, and it's not. Hmm. Oh, that was deep. Mm-hmm. [laughs] I know you think you know what you think you think, but- Yeah, yeah...
• 9:39
[laughs] It's Ole Don Knotts from Hot Lead and Cold Feet. He's here and I know he's here, and he knows I know he's here. What he doesn't know is I know he knows I know he's here, but I don't- Love Monkeys. Bada boom.
• 9:49
Still not on Disney Plus. Did we talk about traffic calming coming to Prospect Avenue? I did not know that. Oh, good. Traffic coming. Traffic calming is coming to Prospect Avenue.
• 9:59
Tra- If they do anything like they did, uh, along, uh, Cherry or Walnut- Yeah, that walnut road... that is crazy and cool. And New- Except... Yeah. Well, you can't drive fast through there or you're gonna destroy a car.
• 10:11
This is a good thing. No, yeah, exactly. And I, I agree completely. Yeah. It was like trying to do the crossover through the neighborhood to get the best place. I mean, it made me slow down.
• 10:19
[laughs] I'm just like, where do I, where do I cut in here now? Oh, there we go. Uh, [tsking] or that nice eagle. Let, let's hope that, that the, uh, video game set doesn't figure out how to gamify- Yeah, right...
• 10:32
gamify those settings. They are so snug to each other, though. That's true. I, that would be almost impossible. Yeah, between that and Lake Drive, and it's getting better. Yeah.
• 10:39
Uh, and these are plans that were laid in place by Dave Schlebowski, actually- Yeah. Yeah, boy...
• 10:44
dozen years ago, that are finally getting realized because they just make sense in a place where- People drive like morons... and cars have been, like, catered to for the last 40 years.
• 10:56
It's now time for the rest of us, too. I dig it. Was their time. Down here, it's our time. It's our time down here. Doonesbury reference. Thank you. [laughs] It's pop culture here on the old, uh, Full Spectrum Cycling.
• 11:14
That, by the way, everybody, that was JK making those comments. Hi. I, I- That's Tony with the new, uh, the new ear pads on his- Yeah... on his headphones. And short hair. I forgot about that. And short hair.
• 11:24
And look, just, I, look how- Those were shot... look how worn out these were. Yeah. And they, every, I bet every time you went home they had a little bit of, uh- Me on there?...
• 11:33
a little bit of these, these little schnibbles upon you. Probably. Yeah. It's okay. I think they work great. Right? They, they were surprisingly easy to replace, that, uh, they were made s- True...
• 11:44
it's not like you had to unglue 'em and goof around and- Mm-hmm... potentially screw something up, but I managed to do it, so it must be all right. Just because I'm ready to crack a beer- Ding, a ding, a ding...
• 11:56
we must be [bell rings] at the top of the hour. And because I keep complaining, as I am want to do at a bar that has King Su from Toppling Goliath and not pseudo Su- Ooh, King Su's harsh... that's just a big one.
• 12:11
Oh, it's a big one. It's a big one. You better be prepared So what we have today is Pseudo Sue because it was on sale at Otto's for three bucks off a 12-pack or something. Jesus. Toppling Goliath Pseudo Sue.
• 12:22
I'd get some except for I got a lot of company right now. [laughs] We had a fluffer Space Whistle from Company. What's a fluffer? You know what they got over at, uh, Otto's? Company beer. You know what it's not?
• 12:35
Dollar King. Yeah, I know. [laughs] So Pseudo Sue is a, it's a single hop ale, uh, pale ale. It's a Citra hop, so it's well-balanced. It's delicious. It's delicate in body. It's got a mild bitterness in the finish.
• 12:49
Ferocious hop aromas of citrus and mango give refreshing taste that is bright with just enough bite. Generally on tap at Oscar's. It, it's, they've had King Sue. That's one of the places I've been grumbling about.
• 13:01
Oh, I- I'm like, "You guys- I, I can't do King Sue... get Pseudo Sue in here. Nobody wants a 9% or whatever that beer is for lunch." They, they have, um- Zombie Ice... Zombie Dust. Yep. Not, thank God, not Zombie Ice.
• 13:13
Yeah. They have Ninja Dust too, which is a one-barrel one. Or no- Oh, is that what Dave got? Uh, I dunno. He got something that was, looked- Yeah, there's a-... heavy...
• 13:23
one of them is Three Floyds and one of them is One Barrel. I don't- All right. Since we're on the, uh, beer topic, we should at least sample the new sour at Amorphic one time.
• 13:33
Well, sure, but I've already d- had a bunch of it. Oh, have you? You're like, oh, you're a sour guy. I didn't know that. It's not, it, it's- It's not sour... it's not quite Artemis Orange, but it's- No, it's, it's-...
• 13:42
it, it's sneaking up on it... but Artemis Orange wasn't sour. No, it was a seltzer. It was, it was a seltzer.
• 13:46
And I've got an, I got a little bit of a heads-up from Alan that it's about three months out and we may see Artemis Orange again. Yes. [laughs] That could be sold in cans and make a lot of money.
• 13:58
I will probably buy a case of it at least to have it around. Yeah, that's, that's an incredible, that's an incredible seltzer. And just Kyle from Create Moto next door, he's always like, "It's not Artemis Orange."
• 14:11
He just keeps hacking on him. Like, "Make it, make it, make it." Make it. "Make it. You guys gotta make it. You gotta make it." It's good. [laughs] It's really good. Molly loves it, too. Ah, that's good.
• 14:22
Yeah, so does Wendy because it's not really beer. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Which is, uh, you know... We had, uh, Garrett's graduation party there. Tony showed up. Where the hell were you?
• 14:33
[laughs] I was actually in New Berlin at my aunt's 90th birthday party. Oh. It was- Bless her soul... I, uh, I showed up randomly not knowing what was happening. I took my, I took, uh... Actually, I took Kim's Mosse
• 14:43
on the bus for a ride. Oh, nice. The Green Line to Layton, went right by Konkel Park again, the scene of the crime. It's packed with a farmer's market on the way out there. Got off at Highway 100, zip, out to 130th.
• 14:59
Party, party, party, party, party. All right. Well, thank you. Okay? And I came back and I got riding in. Nice. That was the good part. We'll pick th- that up right after this. I've gotta push a button.
• 15:08
Uh, for the 74th time, ladies and gentlemen, 74th caller. [laughs] Welcome to the radio program, caller. Who do we have on the line? 74? 74 times. I re- I remember 60... [laughs] I remember 69 of them.
• 15:25
[laughs] It says la- you last called, I know you left a message last week when we had...
• 15:30
We're still teching up the new gear here and I didn't have the phone hooked up, but seems like it's working this week 'cause- Oh, good... my- Hey... my cracking that sounds like big sexy... good to hear you.
• 15:41
Good to hear you guys then. How you all doing? Doing well. Doing well. How's your, uh, ride going? Well, I'll tell you what. Izzy is, i- Izzy's great except for she's making this squawking sound every once in a while,
• 15:59
and it's like, "Er, er, er, er, er, er, er." And I'm like, "What the hell is that?" And I mean, I can't, I can't... I mean, because it doesn't make the sound when I'm not on the bike,
• 16:10
and it doesn't, m- you know, in, in, uh, in, in... When I'm going, w- when I, when I push her backwards, it sounds like I'm destroying the tricycle. I don't know what's going on. [laughs] But in, in- Where are-...
• 16:27
in, in, God knows I can't afford to figure it out at the moment, but, uh- Some- somebody on the route should b- take pity on you and, uh, help you figure that out at a local bike shop there. Yeah.
• 16:40
We- Where are you right now? I'm in Bellefontaine, Ohio, and this is, does not look like the place where I'm gonna get any help like that. [laughs] Is that the inventor Harry Bellefontaine?
• 16:52
Um, uh, uh, uh [laughs]- [laughs] Okay. So I've had, uh, 121 miles of absolutely beautiful bike paths, just n- no traffic.
• 17:05
But boy howdy, i- if you get off the bike path to go to Walmart or something like that, they make you pay for it. Um,
• 17:13
but, uh, but other than that, it's been 121 miles from Cincinnati to here, just absolute bike paths, no traffic, no nothing. No big rigs or dump fucking trucks whizzing by me at 90 miles per hour.
• 17:30
It's been so wonderful. And, uh, but I pull up at this town, and this is the last town of bike path. I gotta get on the road. I gotta get on the highway tomorrow. But it looks like there's a nice shoulder and all that.
• 17:44
But, um, I came across, uh, when I was, uh, biking through town, a bunch of Trivial Pursuit cards. You know Trivial Pursuit, right? Sure, yeah. Yeah, the, the game? Is it, the, the- Yeah, absolutely...
• 18:00
is the, the, like, like, th- three or four blocks is just littered with Trivial Pursuit cards, and I picked a couple of them up. And I promise you, I have not read them.
• 18:11
I j- I, I just picked them up, and I wanna see if we can do a couple of questions here Well, sounds good to me Sven? Have at it. Okay. With the, with the combined- Um, oh, who, who, who-...
• 18:21
brain power here, this should be easy... who do... I, I, I... Like I said, I have not pre-read these. I have no idea what the, what, what it's gonna say. But how many people we got?
• 18:32
Uh, we got JK, we got Tony, we got Sven. Okay. So we got three. Uh, Sven, you go first. You're the boss, right? No, I'm not. We got, uh, blue... We got blue, blue, pink, yellow, black, green and orange.
• 18:50
Oh, I forgot. Are those- [laughs]... are those, uh- Yeah, yeah, yeah. And, and who know-... related to the topics? Who knows, who knows if this- Give me, give me blue. That sounds like... Give me blue. Blue.
• 18:57
That sounds like geography. Okay. What was the nickname of basketball legend Charles Cooper, 1939 New York Rems MVP? What was his nickname? Cope.
• 19:15
[laughs] I do not know. That's a sports thing. Yeah, I don't know sports. If Corey Baumann were here, he might know that. [laughs] Yeah. But, uh- Who? Yeah. Well- I don't know, I just called Cope...
• 19:25
the, the, the- I got, I got nothing else... the, the ans- the answer is Tarzan. [laughs] Okay. Wow, Tarzan. When was Tarzan even? Well, like- Must have been somewhere around that time... I have no idea.
• 19:37
Must have been right around that time where they said- My own trivia question for you... "Oh, wow, this guy plays like Tarzan." Okay. Is it my turn? So who's next? Tony. Yeah, who- I want orange. T- Tony wants orange.
• 19:49
How many meters long is an Olympic race that measures 32,808.5 feet? 100 meters. No. 1,000 meters. Very far. It's 1,000, sorry. I'm going with 1,500.
• 20:09
A meter is 3.28 feet. Yeah, 32,000. The answer- What's your final answer, Tony?... is 10... The answer is 10,000. Thank you. You said 1,000. I said... Then I corrected it with 10,000.
• 20:23
[laughs] I said- 100, 1,000, then 10,000. [laughs] No, I said 10,000. All right. Do the math at 3.28 feet. Very good. We'll give that one to Tony. I'm an IT guy. All right. Lay a, lay a pink- We got one more...
• 20:32
pink one on me. Okay. What Houston Oilers receiver hauled in a pro record 101 passes in the 1964 AFL season?
• 20:50
You weren't even alive in '64. I was. I'm sorry. I was a year old. '64 Houston Oilers. Jesus. Good Lord. Frank Gifford. [laughs] Charlie Hennigan. He's- Oh, that guy...
• 21:04
kind of a flop back, uh- That, that was my second choice... back in the, back in the day. I'll, I'll take this one. So, uh... [laughs] Okay.
• 21:11
What, what National Basketball, what National Basketball League club led by George Mikan beat the New York Rens 75-71 in the last World Pro Tournament in 1948? What the hell?
• 21:31
I'm fucking cheating. It's the Minneapolis Lakers. Oh, nice. Oh, of course. Yeah, you know- Well, anyway, that- Versus color, versus color they were all sports. Right. I'm not a sports guy too much. I could- Right...
• 21:45
if it were A, B, C, D, I could do an educated guess on two that it's not for sure almost, but. I was try... I was, I was going pink- I, I-... entertainment. Yeah, I was going blue, geography.
• 21:55
[laughs] Uh, so- And literally- Okay, so how many of these-... literally on purpose, on, on purpose I picked up these cards. I did not even look at them. I'm like, "I'm just gonna pick them up and put them in."
• 22:04
Sounds good. I'm not even looking at them. What, whatever, whatever it is. It says All Star Sports is like the, the version of these cards. Oh, okay. So. Wow. Well, s- that's, th- that's getting kind of, uh, specific.
• 22:16
So how many do you think you found? Yeah. Oh, I, no, the, uh, I only picked up like 10. And, uh- Oh, okay... and, uh, uh, I pr- I promise you there was like 150 of them.
• 22:29
So, you know, the last time I found stuff blowing down the road it was, uh, it was cash dollars. And I just- Yeah... kept hoping. You know, I... So the first one I picked up was a 20. I'm like, "Oh, that's cool.
• 22:40
I found a 20 on the ground. I'm pretty happy." I'm getting in my vehicle and then I see more. I'm like, "Huh, I sure hope there's more of these blowing down the road." Yeah. And it was like two more dollars.
• 22:49
I'm like, "Well, that's okay." That's why I sent you that 20 bucks. I figured it wasn't really mine, I'd just give it to you. [laughs] Well, I'll, I'll tell you, I'll tell you what.
• 22:58
There's been a couple of times when I was on the road and I, and I, and I was riding down the road and I said, "That's a fucking 20." And I pulled over. It was outside of Nashville. Um, I think it was,
• 23:09
I think it was 2019. No, no, no, it wasn't 2019. It was 20, 2021. I was heading to New Orleans. Um, but I, I, I said, "That's a 20." And then I looked around, I'm like, "There's another one. There's another one."
• 23:23
And I was like, I was like looking around this area of road and, and I found about $200, 'cause I found- Nice... the envelope they were flying out of. And it didn't have nothing on it.
• 23:34
Didn't have no, uh, no, no name or nothing on it. So I'm like, "Well, whatever. I guess it's mine." I got Heather's- Yeah, d-... I got Heather's brake fixed. Nice. I remember you had a story. I don't know if...
• 23:45
I think we got through it a while back, but the curse of the $100 bill. Oh, yeah. I had that, I had that, um, a couple weeks back. Somebody gave me a $100 bill. I'm like, "You gotta be kidding me."
• 23:58
And he goes, "No, no, yeah, yeah. Um, I hope it helps you on your journey." I'm like, "Well, can you break it?" [laughs] And he go, and he goes, "What?" He, he kind of looks at me like, "What do you mean?"
• 24:09
I'm like, "Never mind." I went in the gas station that I was sitting outside of. Right away I was like, I said, "Break this. W- will you break this 100?" 'Cause I didn't wanna have it on me for another fucking second.
• 24:21
'Cause every time I get a $100 bill fucking something catastrophic goes wrong with the bike. Did they take care of you or did they kind of like, "No." I, I don't know. I, m- maybe,
• 24:32
maybe it's superstition, maybe, maybe I'm, I'm stupid or, or whatever, but, but every time I see me... E- every time I get donated a $100 bill, um, something goes to shit. [laughs] So I try not to do that.
• 24:47
Yeah, that's, that was pretty much the curse. So I was talking to our buddy, Dave Schlabowski, when we were on our Fat Tire tour this past Saturday, and he was relating some things about podcasts
• 24:59
and how certain ones he's getting kind of sick of, 'cause, I don't know, they get all tactical and stuff. Like ours? No, he loves ours. Who wouldn't love ours?
• 25:07
Ones where people bitch more than they talk about the good stuff that's happening in cycling. I don't think we bitch that much, except if King Sue's at every bar instead of... Other than that. My bad.
• 25:16
But, uh, he was relating that a certain gravel-oriented podcast, they have all these rules about gravel riding, and one of them is never, ever sit in front of a gas station on a gravel race. What? I don't know.
• 25:29
It just one of those things. Yeah, I remember him saying that. Yeah. I'm like, "What the..." No, that wasn't Dave. That was some- that was a different guy. Yeah, I know. I- Yeah. But yeah...
• 25:36
I, no, but when he was relaying it- Right on gravel... I'm like, "What the, but the, but... Huh? Okay, all right."
• 25:39
No, he's got a lot of rules about how you should ride gravel because he was one of the granddaddies of gravel riding. [laughs] Except he really wasn't. Well, I promise you, I, I- Guess, guess what? Marketing.
• 25:49
Since there's been bikes, there's been gravel riding. Right. It's just marketing, man. Come on, man.
• 25:54
I have, I have my superstitions on the road, I really do, and, uh, one of them is the curse of the $100 bill, is like, is like break that $100 bill as fast as possible because it, it...
• 26:06
For, for, I mean, and for some reason, um, another superstition of mine is that, i- is, is that, um,
• 26:16
if the, if the gas station has an outlet that you don't have to like physically break into, like if, if, if it just has an outlet you can plug into, they're not gonna let you hang around for very long. Okay.
• 26:30
[laughs] Yeah, I remember that one too. I don't know. That, that's a bad example. I, I, I'm, I'm coming up blank on other examples of superstitions I have. [laughs] But, but i- it's like, um, uh, never...
• 26:42
Uh, you, we, you, when anytime anybody offers you a bottle of water, you take it. What, whether you get rid of it later or you, you ge- you just take it. Take the bottle- Yeah...
• 26:52
if somebody offers you a bottle of water, take it. You don't refuse it because- Good call... yeah. Then all of a sudden- Fair enough. So-... I'm like, "Oh, where's that bottle of water?"
• 27:04
[laughs] So how far are you from Detroit right now? I'm about, uh, I guess, I'm, I'm guessing about, uh, 120. Okay. Uh- Is, is that your next destination? Yeah. Yep, yep. Um, my, my people in Detroit are ready for me.
• 27:21
Um, they're, uh, they're, they're doing a thing, so I don't know exactly how long I'm gonna be there for, but that, that's the thing. Um, if, uh,
• 27:34
if I gotta get moving from Detroit earlier than I thought, I'm not, probably not gonna be there for 24, but I'm gonna be there, um- Right on. Right... doing Milwaukee. I'm gonna... I'm, I'm taking the boat. There's...
• 27:46
I mean, I'll, I will take the boat whether... If I have to rob somebody, I'll take the fucking boat- [laughs]... rather than go through Chicago. Um- Well, we, we- But, um-...
• 27:56
we dropped the ball this year on getting the, the passes. I, I think, though, we're donate... We d- I donated 25 bikes to Dream Bikes. I'm pretty sure I could maybe- Mm... see what kind of,
• 28:09
what kind of a relationship they have with that Lake Express, 'cause I could use a discounted ticket and- Sure... go over there. That's... You know, it was 90 degrees here today.
• 28:21
Have you been riding through the heat over there? Oh, yeah. Um, I, well, my, my trick is, uh, get going at, uh, 5:30 in the morning and be done by noon. Yeah. Good call. You know what I'm saying? Be, be done by noon.
• 28:37
Sure. No matter how far I get, by noon I'm done, because, uh, you, you don't wanna be on the road. Right.
• 28:44
Wait, so what it was back home- So what I noticed today is, well, just 15 miles west of where we are, it was 90, and when I got down to the lakefront right by Bradford Beach, 70. Yep. Mm-hmm.
• 28:55
And there's a, there's a weather buoy about a, there's a weather buoy about a mile offshore, and it was 64 degrees at the weather buoy out on the middle of the lake.
• 29:03
[laughs] Well, not the middle, but a mile offshore on the lake, surrounded by water. Cooler by the lake, baby. Yep. Cooler by the lake. Always cooler by the lake. Take it. All right, Big Sex.
• 29:11
No, uh, but- You wanna leave us with anything? We're gonna get rolling here pretty quick, but you got anything more for us? Well, yeah.
• 29:16
Let, yeah, let's, let's keep in contact about, uh, about, about, uh, meeting in Michigan or, or at least, hey, if, if, if y'all, uh, meet me when I get off the boat, that'd be a, that'd be wonderful too.
• 29:29
I can, I can try to- Absolutely. I'll get stuff done there... I, I, we can try to schedule it so I can, I can be where you, if you, when you have time to do that kind of thing. That'd be wonderful. Um,
• 29:42
especially 'cause I'm wearing my River West shirt right now. [laughs] I'm supporting you. Yeah. Nice. Mm. Mm. No, you... He, he, he does not know where we are in River West right now. [laughs] Gotcha.
• 29:55
But yeah- I just ran into your-... it's gonna, it's gonna be a couple of weeks at least, but, um, you know, whatever. I'm, I'm, uh, I'm, I'm heading that way. Okay.
• 30:04
Yeah, we just, I just ran into your buddy, Steve Booth, who was the guy that came up with that shirt. So he's got some new stuff- Oh, yeah, yeah... probably coming up pretty soon.
• 30:13
Hopefully we'll run into him when you're in town. Hey, um, if you see him again, tell him I wear it with pride. [laughs] Awesome. And, and, and- All right... and peop- and people, peop...
• 30:24
A couple people have, uh, you know, uh, my friend Nisha, uh, and her, and her husband Lise, they're, they're like family to me- They, uh, they, they lived in, lived in River West for a minute and they're like, they're like, "We used to live right there," and they poked me in the stomach and I was like, "Ah!"
• 30:40
[laughs] Don't poke me there. All right, we'll talk to you soon, man. Thanks for calling in. Yep, take it easy. All right, no problem. Hey, uh, um, as always, m- love ya and I'll see you soon.
• 30:52
And don't forget to, uh, leave us your, uh, Venmo again, just so people can donate to the cause. Yeah, Jason dash... Jason-Becker-60. That's to Venmo, right? Yep.
• 31:08
Jason-Becker-60. Copy that. All right, man. Thank you very much for calling. All right, appreciate it, guys. We'll talk to you soon. Y'all- y'all have a good time now. Peace. Bye, Big Sexy. Peace.
• 31:24
And Big Sexy, everybody. Hey, you know what I think? I don't know, we'll have to see how it sounds on the recording, but I think the Bluetooth into the new thing- Better... sounds better than the- It was very clear...
• 31:34
wired into the old thing. I thought it sounded pretty decent. Didn't sound like there was a lag. Not as much, right? Right. And that's weird because it- It's not like-... there's always latency in, in wireless, John...
• 31:44
you can hear somebody going like, "Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh." Eh, eh, eh. Wait, why do you think he chose 60 as the last? There are 59 prior. Was he born in '60? He can't be born in '60. I... No, he's not that old.
• 31:54
Makes him older than you. He's not that old. Excuse me. He's, like, 45 or 6 or something. Yeah.
• 32:01
Uh, I don't know, we didn't get through this last week, so I'm just gonna mention it so I can ch- scratch it off the list and top, stop, stop with the- Stop... always moving it.
• 32:10
There's a story, it was on BikeRumor, so you can read it there. Sub-19 pound Surly- Oh, God. Pretty is cool... Preamble, Preamble road bike. I'm like, "Who in their right mind would do that?" A Surly employee.
• 32:21
Yeah, exactly. Guess who did it, right? A Surly employee. Ah. That's the only person- The only one who can... that would... Why would you do that if you were not a Surly employee?
• 32:29
[laughs] It is a really cool bike, though, and sub-19 pound bike that probably has a six pound frame is pretty impressive. Right. So. And expensive, I bet. Right on.
• 32:39
Um, we talked a few weeks back about the AAA thing, where you can call them if you're a AAA member- You get a little room... and you have a bike thing. So here's the actual clarification.
• 32:49
If you're Classic, which is your basic whatever it is, s- seven, 60 bucks a year or something, I don't know the numbers, it's not a lot.
• 32:56
Roadside transportation with a five, within a five-mile radius of the bicycle breakdown. If you're Plus, which is not a lot more, maybe 30 bucks, get roadside transports within 100-mile radius. Holy crap.
• 33:09
And Premier get one transport up to 200 miles, and remaining transports are up to 100 miles. [laughs] So if you're, like, traveling across the country- That's a deal... why wouldn't you get AAA- Yeah...
• 33:20
and, like, you know. Sure. They won't do stuff, they will not air up your tire. They're not eq- basically they're only equipped to transport you- Right... not do any kind of fixing. I'm tired- But I'm trying to-...
• 33:31
can you please transport me 100 miles to a hotel? If I live- Yeah. [laughs] I'd, I'd like to figure out a way to, uh- That's a good one... participate in this and, and help people, but I don't know.
• 33:39
I guess in a city you're not as prone to that, but, uh, you know, Premier- Ride 100 miles? I don't think- Get a ride for 100 miles? [laughs] Yeah. [laughs] Get a... Just- Yeah... yeah. Just, like, totally...
• 33:48
like the tow t- like the tow truck driver is, that's gonna transport you likely or somebody that's part of their normal auto thing isn't gonna know that your bottom bracket isn't- Mashed... mashed. Yeah.
• 33:59
"Oh, yeah, my bottom bracket's not working." I wonder, do they put it on the hook- I need, I need a r- [laughs]... so you can see your bike hanging as you drive? I don't know.
• 34:04
I'm almost tempted just to try it out because it- Yeah, just leave frog across the country... it, but it's such a cool thing... leave frog. Right, totally. Do the- Yeah... do the- Yeah. Today I put 50 miles on.
• 34:13
I'm going to the Ritz-Carlton today. Oh, I got a flat tire. Thank you. Could you please give me your 100-mile ride? I don't know what's coming up next week.
• 34:21
I tried to get Andrew Zahn from the River West 24 today, but he's doing a Checkpoint 3 signature gathering so that they can try and get- Oh. Oh, yeah, they're, they're worried about that.
• 34:31
Well, I know the- 'Cause, I mean, Checkpoint 3 is gentrified like no tomorrow. Well, the problem with it is that they're doing the construction again on- Yeah... the bridge above, so.
• 34:41
But they've had it fenced off, and those people suck over there so bad, they're getting grumpy about it. That said, the people that cause trouble down there suck, too, so stop sucking, both of you- Yeah. [laughs]...
• 34:50
because it's such a cool place. And there we go. That's how we end the show, except for... You guys got anything? Yeah. Well- Yeah... JK's got something. It's, it, yeah. I got one thing, too. All right, well, go.
• 35:01
The tow- Go... the tow races started up. Oh, they started up. Started up. Last week. Yeah, exactly. Well, yeah. Soon to be coming- But they close up this week... to, like, Shorewood and/or Downer near you.
• 35:13
Yes, the Bay View, Shorewood- I'm getting some feedback... and then the Downer, and then the Towson. So one of those I'm gonna do. Copy. But not the Shorewood, which is the closest, but not the, the- I think Downer...
• 35:23
you have to be the Downer. I'm doing the Downer. And Towson's always fun to watch. I have, uh, I have people trying to give me suggestions for where Daikaiju should play. Uptowner.
• 35:32
One, one of them was Checkpoint 3, and I said absolutely not. Yep. The Jerk Circle. Of all the places I don't want them playing. Although the, the one that... Riverwest Arby sounds really good.
• 35:43
It'd have to be in the daytime on Saturday. It can't be- Why?... it can't be at 1:00 AM 'cause you'll, they're, no. Oh, I don't think anyone's gonna care. The cops are not gonna care. They are. You think so?
• 35:52
Try and get a permit for it and see how it works. I can do a permit. Your, your best bet is to do it somewhere inside. Do they have permits for future plans? I don't think so.
• 35:59
Like, who already has said they'll do it there. I know. I know. All right. But- But if you're not gonna do it there, let him know so he doesn't hold that date. Oh, well, I'm waiting to hear back from Daikaiju.
• 36:08
As, as I approach, as I approach, as, as people are lo- lobbying, may I offer up The Jerk Circle as a location? I don't know where it is. We were at it. We were at it! It was the naming, my clever naming.
• 36:21
Yes, The Jerk Circle is where we saw Corey on Friday. That would also be fantastic. Ta-da! That would actually- Ta-da! You know, and there's no neighbors that could complain about that. Exactly.
• 36:32
It's a county park that closes at 10:00 o'clock So you, you just gotta look at the logistics of this stuff. They did face painting at 1:00 in the park recently. Yeah, but that's quiet. Nobody said anything.
• 36:43
When it's gonna be a raucous thing that's going for an hour- They're only gonna rip for, oh, only an hour maybe, if that... all right, make sure that you have, like, four generators.
• 36:52
We'll, we'll have designated people to grab stuff and run. Rent generators so that they have power. Yeah, that's about it. You know, I'm just saying, you're looking at a lot of logistics.
• 37:00
Che- cheapest vent is, uh, it's definitely Uptowner. And you can charge. If I'm- You can charge for people to get in and recoup some of your fat stacks of cash you're spending. True, true.
• 37:09
So Steven said you could, you know. Just see what they say, but I, I think just because of all the logistics of doing it outside and all the potential pitfalls, plus what if it's raining?
• 37:19
Remember how it rained last year? [laughs] Oh, shit. It rained hard last year. Oh, it was gonna be like rain. That was not rain. All right. Well, we'll get it figured out- We'll see... because they are coming. Yeah,
• 37:30
they are coming. And it will happen somewhere. Cool. Ah. In the area code. Right. Thanks. Bye. We're everywhere. Yes. Oh. Yo, yo.
• 37:46
  [outtro music]
