- 2:06Speaker 1: So before we get into this first episode, Beatrice, I
- 2:09Speaker 1: do have to ask you whether you have any takeaways.
- 2:12Speaker 1: We've been away from the Browns for so long I
- 2:16Speaker 1: barely remember who they are. I'm so glad to be
- 2:19Speaker 1: back for season eight. What'd you think? Me too?
- 2:22Speaker 2: I just enjoyed mckelt getting schooled by that actual designer,
- 2:27Speaker 2: the world famous David Tupaz.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Is he really outsider?
- 2:32Speaker 2: I don't know, but it was really funny to watch
- 2:35Speaker 2: her get lectured about her really bad designs.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Well, my takeaway is that for an episode where we
- 2:43Speaker 1: had a lot of content about Dayton and his surgery
- 2:48Speaker 1: for his eye after his accident, which by the way,
- 2:52Speaker 1: they have not addressed until now. But he's had like
- 2:55Speaker 1: this issue with his eye, and he had this accident
- 2:59Speaker 1: kind of a long time ago before season able, like
- 3:01Speaker 1: they've never talked about it. And so for us to
- 3:03Speaker 1: just be thrown into what's going on with Dayton, what
- 3:06Speaker 1: happened in the accident, what's the surgery going to be about,
- 3:10Speaker 1: and yet still have it be all about Robin right,
- 3:14Speaker 1: Robin's tears, Robin's anxiety. We've got to get there on
- 3:19Speaker 1: time or else they're not going to do the surgery
- 3:22Speaker 1: for d And like when Dayton was talking about his
- 3:27Speaker 1: autism and about the way that he thinks and all
- 3:30Speaker 1: of these things, like I loved that. Yeah, I wanted
- 3:33Speaker 1: to hear more from Dayton, but no, pan right back
- 3:37Speaker 1: to motherfucking Robin. Yep, shut your trap home. I was
- 3:41Speaker 1: sick of.
- 3:41Speaker 2: It for real, talk about a narcissist.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Well, it's giving Munchausen's.
- 3:45Speaker 2: A little little bit, right.
- 3:48Speaker 1: So that's my takeaway. I'm ready to get into this recap,
- 3:51Speaker 1: are you?
- 3:52Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 3:52Speaker 1: Then without further Ado. Let's get into season eight, episode one,
- 3:55Speaker 1: and tattoed the hardest parts of love.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I don't know what that means, like the D I.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Don't know, maybe, but I doubt it.
- 4:06Speaker 2: I don't know. Well, we start off the episode talking
- 4:09Speaker 2: a lot about Dayton. So Dayton had his ATV. Was
- 4:12Speaker 2: it an ATV accident, yes, or something like that where
- 4:15Speaker 2: his he had a huge scar on his one of
- 4:18Speaker 2: his eyes and one of his eyelid muscles wouldn't open
- 4:22Speaker 2: up anymore. And so now the family is prepping him
- 4:26Speaker 2: for cosmetic surgery or cosmetic plastic surgery to help lift
- 4:30Speaker 2: the eyelid or fix the eyelid muscle or whatever so
- 4:33Speaker 2: that way he can actually see out of that eye.
- 4:36Speaker 2: And of course Robin is making it all about herself
- 4:39Speaker 2: and how she's so worried and she's got these big
- 4:41Speaker 2: ass eyelashes and she's cuddling up next to Cody, and
- 4:44Speaker 2: you know, she's just using this as an excuse to
- 4:47Speaker 2: be like, Cody has to dm my house because we're
- 4:50Speaker 2: prepping Daton for surgery in like four months, so he
- 4:53Speaker 2: has to be with us the entire time for my
- 4:55Speaker 2: emotional support. Like it's so.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Stupid, it is stupid, and it made me immediately think
- 5:01Speaker 1: about what we just went through with Truly, like two
- 5:05Speaker 1: episodes ago and not two episodes two seasons ago, and
- 5:07Speaker 1: how she had kidney failure, and how we learned from
- 5:10Speaker 1: Christine that Cody couldn't even be bothered to spend the
- 5:14Speaker 1: night in the hospital with Truly, And yet here we
- 5:18Speaker 1: see when it's Dayton, he's very attentive, very engaged, very
- 5:23Speaker 1: supportive specifically of Dayton having those talks with him, And
- 5:26Speaker 1: I'm like, wow, I wish we saw a little bit
- 5:29Speaker 1: more of that with Truly end to that end with
- 5:31Speaker 1: Isabelle Becae. In just a few years, we're going to
- 5:34Speaker 1: have Isabelle with her scoliosis surgery. And when Cody found
- 5:38Speaker 1: out about it, of course it's during the pandemic and
- 5:41Speaker 1: everything was really wonky. But like his first reaction to
- 5:44Speaker 1: that was well, can she go herself right? Or like
- 5:48Speaker 1: do I really need to be there? Do you need
- 5:49Speaker 1: to be there? Christine? Like what happened to that? Fatherly
- 5:53Speaker 1: love that he's showing to Dayton but he can't show
- 5:57Speaker 1: to Isabelle and Truly, like it was just like a
- 6:00Speaker 1: layering contrast point for me.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Definitely and even when we get later in the episode
- 6:05Speaker 2: with Maddie moving out and he talks about how he's
- 6:08Speaker 2: just been so busy in his life that he hasn't
- 6:11Speaker 2: really had time to like foster or nurture his relationship
- 6:14Speaker 2: with Maddie and he wants to emotionally check in with
- 6:17Speaker 2: her because he still cares, still loves her. I'm like,
- 6:19Speaker 2: where is that father now? Like it just it's so
- 6:23Speaker 2: bizarre to me, But Okay, I guess we'll just focus
- 6:25Speaker 2: all on Dayton and like, look, Dayton had a traumatic injury,
- 6:29Speaker 2: Like there's no doubt about that. Like he deserves family
- 6:32Speaker 2: support and everything. It's just sad that Cody can't extend
- 6:37Speaker 2: that to everybody in the family equally.
- 6:40Speaker 1: And also it's kind of strange that they can't talk
- 6:43Speaker 1: about the details around the ATV accident because of course
- 6:46Speaker 1: it comes out later for us viewers or really just
- 6:50Speaker 1: us in the community that Dayton was with Cody and
- 6:54Speaker 1: the rest of the family when he had his accident.
- 6:56Speaker 1: It was actually a hunter who found Dayton m M.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I think at the time, in the zeitgeist of the audience,
- 7:03Speaker 1: what people were wondering was whether Dayton was spending time
- 7:07Speaker 1: with his bio dad, and like the idea was that
- 7:11Speaker 1: Robin and Cody were allowing that rumor to spread, when
- 7:15Speaker 1: all along it was Cody that was the one that
- 7:18Speaker 1: was supposed to be taking care of Dayton, and I
- 7:20Speaker 1: think Dayton's they mentioned he was going to be in
- 7:24Speaker 1: high school, going int high school, so he's probably thirteen
- 7:26Speaker 1: or fourteen years old. He was probably eleven or twelve
- 7:29Speaker 1: when the accident happened. Cody, what were you doing, you dumbfuck?
- 7:33Speaker 1: Why weren't your eyes on all of your kids? And
- 7:36Speaker 1: if you can't take care of all your children, if
- 7:39Speaker 1: you are missing the moments that you didn't have with
- 7:42Speaker 1: your kids and that you're wishing you have now, Like
- 7:46Speaker 1: why did you have one thousand children? Then seriously though,
- 7:51Speaker 1: like did you not think about family planning? Well, of
- 7:53Speaker 1: course not because we're talking about Culti Mormons. But then
- 7:57Speaker 1: to like bemoan the state of affairs when Maddie is
- 8:01Speaker 1: taken to college and he's just gonna all these words
- 8:05Speaker 1: he wished, he said, Well, you could have been a parent.
- 8:08Speaker 1: You could be showing up for a lot of your
- 8:10Speaker 1: bio kids right now, but no, we're spending our time
- 8:13Speaker 1: over at Robin's house.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yep. And talking to Dayton, right.
- 8:17Speaker 1: These are just things that were glaring to me.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree completely, But it was interesting to hear
- 8:23Speaker 2: from Dayton because we get so little of him, I
- 8:26Speaker 2: feel like in the show in general, and now he's
- 8:28Speaker 2: just completely non existent. Who knows if he's moved out
- 8:31Speaker 2: of the home with Cody and Robin. I sure hope
- 8:34Speaker 2: so for his sake, because he needs to get the
- 8:36Speaker 2: book away from his party.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Kicked him out because he dared to disagree with them
- 8:41Speaker 1: about COVID exactly, or about something else, maybe about his
- 8:44Speaker 1: bio dad. Because of course, the current rumor is that
- 8:47Speaker 1: Dayton left flag Staff and left Cody and Robin's home
- 8:52Speaker 1: and returned to his father, David Jessup.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Yep.
- 8:55Speaker 1: We don't know that, obviously. We do know Dayton doesn't
- 8:58Speaker 1: want to be on camera no more.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and I can understand why. But it was interesting
- 9:02Speaker 2: to hear him talk about his Aspergers and how that
- 9:05Speaker 2: makes him think differently and perceive things differently, and how
- 9:09Speaker 2: he is thankful for having Aspergers because it just makes
- 9:13Speaker 2: him him And I think that was really cool. I
- 9:15Speaker 2: wish there was more of that, Like you had said
- 9:17Speaker 2: at the beginning of this episode, but we got Robin
- 9:20Speaker 2: and her eyelashes instead, And then we bop on over
- 9:23Speaker 2: to McKelty who's still got that passion for fashion, and
- 9:27Speaker 2: she is going to show her portfolio to a world
- 9:30Speaker 2: famous designer named David Tupez, who, by.
- 9:34Speaker 1: The way, lives in Las Vegas. Wow, didn't we do
- 9:37Speaker 1: this a couple of seasons ago? Didn't she go to
- 9:41Speaker 1: some designer woman and check out her fashions? I feel
- 9:46Speaker 1: like we've done this once already.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think that was like the context of
- 9:50Speaker 2: like looking at dresses and stuff and she's like, oh
- 9:52Speaker 2: my god, I love fashion, and she wanted to get
- 9:55Speaker 2: into the career. But now it's like, I'm going to
- 9:57Speaker 2: go in for an interview. I'm going to show him
- 10:00Speaker 2: my portfolio, maybe get hired as an intern or whatever.
- 10:06Speaker 2: It was so embarrassed.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I was cringing so hard, so deep into my body
- 10:10Speaker 1: that it became a kegel, which we call it gregel
- 10:13Speaker 1: because she pulls out her portfolio for the famous David
- 10:17Speaker 1: Tupaz and it might as well be stick figure girl
- 10:23Speaker 1: pencil stick figure drawing. Twelve year old drawings were so
- 10:27Speaker 1: the kind of drawings you do as a seven year
- 10:30Speaker 1: old girl. Wanted to be a fashion designer because you
- 10:33Speaker 1: watched Project Runway or something.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Literally, yeah, like they weren't even like detailed. It was
- 10:38Speaker 2: literally just like an outline of address stick figures. And
- 10:44Speaker 2: David Tupaz is being nice kind of.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Because he's on film.
- 10:48Speaker 2: He's on film, big shot, but he's essentially saying, like,
- 10:53Speaker 2: your designs are ass They're truly bad. They're really bad,
- 10:57Speaker 2: and you're gonna need to take this seriously if you
- 10:59Speaker 2: actually want a fashion career. But Mickelty just is like
- 11:04Speaker 2: so excited for the opportunity. I mean, she dressed to
- 11:07Speaker 2: the nines in her dress that had a stain on it.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Apparently, I know, poor baby, Like, oh my.
- 11:13Speaker 2: God, I'm embarrassed. But then Christine is like encouraging it,
- 11:17Speaker 2: and she thought that the interview with David Tupaz went
- 11:20Speaker 2: really well. And then you have Cody on the couch
- 11:22Speaker 2: with a stupid monologue about how he thinks the fashion
- 11:25Speaker 2: industry is super hyper sexualized and he's worried about McKelty
- 11:30Speaker 2: getting taken advantage of in the fashion industry, and he's
- 11:34Speaker 2: kind of like hoping she'll choose another career, which we
- 11:37Speaker 2: know she ultimately does, which is the pawn chop right,
- 11:41Speaker 2: I'm a cashier.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, And I just was getting so tired
- 11:47Speaker 1: of Cody moralizing about how fashion views women. Yes, obviously
- 11:54Speaker 1: it's a very problematic industry. Have you seen the Netflix
- 11:57Speaker 1: special with Tyra?
- 11:59Speaker 2: It's on my list.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I want to watch it really badly. Should we do
- 12:03Speaker 1: that for Patreon? Was actually thinking, I think it's a
- 12:06Speaker 1: three part series to it. Yeah, and I think there's
- 12:09Speaker 1: another one, another documentary that's going to be even worse
- 12:13Speaker 1: for Tyra that's coming out I think in March on
- 12:17Speaker 1: e that I also want to see, but we should
- 12:19Speaker 1: watch it on Patreon. My point is, though it's a
- 12:22Speaker 1: terrible business. Yeah, we all watch that show probably, and
- 12:25Speaker 1: it was super toxic. Cody has a definite right to
- 12:29Speaker 1: feel concerned for his daughter, But like, I don't need you,
- 12:33Speaker 1: a guy with three side chicks who is going to
- 12:36Speaker 1: ultimately abandon thirteen of your children and three of your wives,
- 12:41Speaker 1: moralizing to me about the hyper sexualized industry of fashion.
- 12:46Speaker 1: You big fat hypocrite.
- 12:48Speaker 2: I mean really, though, I'm just like, get off your
- 12:50Speaker 2: high horse, dude, because you don't respect women at all,
- 12:52Speaker 2: but you're gonna pretend like you do for the camera
- 12:55Speaker 2: just to go on about the fashion industry. And I mean,
- 12:58Speaker 2: look like Mikeelty's idea of being a fashion designer is
- 13:03Speaker 2: a ludicrous It's absolutely ridiculous.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Based on those sketches, yes, it is.
- 13:07Speaker 2: I'm just like, what are you doing? Like if she
- 13:09Speaker 2: had like really detailed dress drawings that she had made,
- 13:14Speaker 2: maybe maybe.
- 13:16Speaker 1: There were the two pictures of dresses that she created
- 13:19Speaker 1: and sewed. Girl, did you see them?
- 13:22Speaker 2: Yes?
- 13:22Speaker 1: Did you pause it?
- 13:23Speaker 2: Though?
- 13:24Speaker 1: I paused it? I got up because I've got old
- 13:26Speaker 1: people eyes straight up to my television. I'm like, this
- 13:30Speaker 1: is dog shit, Michuelte. Why isn't your own mama, Why
- 13:34Speaker 1: isn't Maddie telling you that this is dog shit? Truly
- 13:37Speaker 1: terrible designs. We understand how she became a cashier. Yeah,
- 13:41Speaker 1: it all makes.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Sense, definitely. And David Tupaz then goes on to show
- 13:45Speaker 2: her his designs. He's like, look, these are push these
- 13:49Speaker 2: are glamorous, these.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Are sophisticated, are they?
- 13:53Speaker 2: Now? Did you see his designs in his studio?
- 13:56Speaker 1: Based on what Cody was talking about in his interstitials,
- 13:59Speaker 1: I thought we were gonna see like bikinis and songs
- 14:01Speaker 1: and stuff. It was extremely modest.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Yeah, very modest, kind of gaudy, ugly, but you know whatever,
- 14:10Speaker 2: it's fixed sophisticated.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Long gowns with long sleeves, capes covering every inch of skin.
- 14:17Speaker 1: I think davidas hates women. I don't know that were
- 14:20Speaker 1: awful designs.
- 14:21Speaker 2: It was bad. But then he tells Michelty that her
- 14:24Speaker 2: designs are idealistic and I think he said impractical also,
- 14:27Speaker 2: which was kind of funny. Yeah, wh's pretty funny.
- 14:30Speaker 1: And Cody seemed to love the fact that David was
- 14:33Speaker 1: willing to just tell her straight, like, yeah, unless you're
- 14:36Speaker 1: willing to do X, Y and Z, unless you are
- 14:38Speaker 1: willing to do better sketches and get some education, Like
- 14:41Speaker 1: it's just never gonna work for you, darling, And you
- 14:43Speaker 1: have to have it in your heart. It can't just
- 14:45Speaker 1: be like in your in your sketch book. You've got
- 14:48Speaker 1: to really have a passion. And there's Mchelty like, this
- 14:50Speaker 1: is my passion. I really need you to hear me
- 14:53Speaker 1: when I say that, I've never been more passionate about
- 14:56Speaker 1: anything else in my life. And David's like, okay, all right,
- 15:00Speaker 1: and Cody's like that was great. I really loved how
- 15:03Speaker 1: he told her the truth because that's what she needs.
- 15:05Speaker 1: And then we're going to cut to that my sister
- 15:07Speaker 1: wife's closet segment when somebody's trying to tell Robin the
- 15:10Speaker 1: truth and she's just like, no, and what was it about.
- 15:14Speaker 2: It was like about their designs or something.
- 15:17Speaker 1: You're gonna take it to the lesbian second hand store
- 15:20Speaker 1: and it's going to be a flashback, so I'm jumping
- 15:22Speaker 1: on it.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Well, that is the next scene. So we go over
- 15:24Speaker 2: to a store called Full Circle Coutour, which is owned
- 15:29Speaker 2: by a lesbian polygamist named Kathy.
- 15:31Speaker 1: She really wants you to know that she's a bull daiga.
- 15:35Speaker 1: She's out and proud.
- 15:37Speaker 2: And we eats the we love a lesbian and it.
- 15:40Speaker 1: We love a lesbian in the house. I loved her.
- 15:43Speaker 2: She was great.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I wished Cody and Robin shut the fuck up and like,
- 15:48Speaker 1: just give the Florida Kathy, because she obviously wants to
- 15:51Speaker 1: talk about her degenerate lifestyle. I don't think she's an
- 15:54Speaker 1: actual polygamist. No, it's not the fact that she's a lesbian.
- 15:56Speaker 1: She's saying though, that she has multiple wives. That means
- 15:59Speaker 1: she's banging a life, and I want to hear all
- 16:02Speaker 1: about that.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Even then, I thought she was just trolling them. I
- 16:05Speaker 2: thought she was just joking, Like, I don't even think
- 16:07Speaker 2: she's got multiple side chicks. She's got a daughter in
- 16:10Speaker 2: there that was working with her, but she's just like playing.
- 16:14Speaker 2: And she's also low key flirting with Robin, which I
- 16:17Speaker 2: thought was funny because Cody and Robin are there to
- 16:21Speaker 2: bring this stupid, dinky little like jewelry swivel thing with
- 16:26Speaker 2: their ugly ass my sister wife's closet designs. It was
- 16:29Speaker 2: so bad they want to sell them in the store
- 16:32Speaker 2: because they've made a break at Full Circle Couture, which
- 16:36Speaker 2: is a secondhand store. It's not even like a department store,
- 16:39Speaker 2: and they have this little thing. They're bringing it there
- 16:42Speaker 2: and they're in their eyes. This is like a business arrangement,
- 16:46Speaker 2: and Kathy's just like, dude, I don't care, put your
- 16:48Speaker 2: crap on the counter and let me flirt with Robin.
- 16:51Speaker 2: She says something like, oh, your picture's missing me on there.
- 16:54Speaker 2: But I don't want to marry you, Cody.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Robin, because I'm a lesbian polygama. And if I can
- 17:01Speaker 1: just clarify, I'm not saying she's a degenerate because she are.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I'm not at all. It's that she was talking about
- 17:07Speaker 1: her areum of bitches, and I was so entertained. But
- 17:11Speaker 1: like Cody and Robin, especially Robin seems to be very
- 17:15Speaker 1: scandalized because Kathy was asking questions and she was like
- 17:19Speaker 1: inviting them to ask her questions, but she didn't want to.
- 17:22Speaker 1: And Robin talks about, how, well, you know, we don't
- 17:25Speaker 1: really want to inquire about other people's lifestyles, Like we
- 17:29Speaker 1: don't really want to know what goes on in everybody's bedroom,
- 17:33Speaker 1: and so I don't want to talk about that. I'm
- 17:34Speaker 1: just here to talk about my burning bosom God inspired
- 17:39Speaker 1: designed jewelry.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I thought it was kind of funny that they were
- 17:42Speaker 2: uncomfortable by They were like, legit uncomfortable. They didn't realize
- 17:46Speaker 2: that Kathy was just playing and just trolling. But I
- 17:50Speaker 2: love to see them kind of uncomfortable. And so Cody
- 17:52Speaker 2: tries to take this seriously and he's like talking about
- 17:54Speaker 2: business and talking about my sister wife's closet, and Kathy's like,
- 17:58Speaker 2: I don't give a shit.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Well, and Robin's like, do you think that somebody's going
- 18:03Speaker 1: to come in here and they're going to see that
- 18:06Speaker 1: this is from a family of Polygamus and they're going
- 18:08Speaker 1: to judge us, and Kathy's.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Like, who care.
- 18:10Speaker 1: If they don't want to buy your shit, then don't
- 18:12Speaker 1: buy the shit. Yeah, but I'm going to put up
- 18:14Speaker 1: what I want to put up in my store base. Sorry, Robin,
- 18:18Speaker 1: We're not going to victimize ourselves today.
- 18:20Speaker 2: She's always a murder. It's so annoying. And then we
- 18:23Speaker 2: had the flashback to one of their My Sister Wives
- 18:26Speaker 2: Closet business meetings, and this is where someone randomly tell
- 18:30Speaker 2: suggests that they should sell other people's stuff. I'm so
- 18:33Speaker 2: excited to get into this, and Robin of course was like, no,
- 18:37Speaker 2: I don't want to do that because I don't want
- 18:39Speaker 2: to be a sellout. And Janelle's like, but what we're
- 18:41Speaker 2: doing isn't working right.
- 18:44Speaker 1: So this meeting was to have taken place like a
- 18:48Speaker 1: week before. Cody and Robin go to Kathy's Lesbian Emporium
- 18:53Speaker 1: and there is some rando woman that we've never been
- 18:55Speaker 1: introduced to, which you just gotta love. Yeah, trying to
- 18:58Speaker 1: counsel the Browns that they might want to start introducing
- 19:02Speaker 1: some third party items into their business, like let's do
- 19:06Speaker 1: some merch, let's do some mogs, let's do some Stanley's
- 19:10Speaker 1: anything else, but this fucked up jewelry.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:13Speaker 1: And Christina is so excited because I think Christine has
- 19:17Speaker 1: wanted to sell like home goods and various things like that.
- 19:20Speaker 1: And then of course we had Janelle, I want to
- 19:22Speaker 1: sell my Mormon underwear plus size line, and Robin will
- 19:27Speaker 1: not let anybody do that. But now we have a
- 19:29Speaker 1: third party person recommending that, and Christine is so excited
- 19:33Speaker 1: and happy. Janelle's pissed because Robin is very resistant because
- 19:38Speaker 1: to her, that's like my integrity. Yeah, it's like what
- 19:43Speaker 1: I'm here to do, this is my divine purpose. It's
- 19:45Speaker 1: going to see her family. I can't just sell stuff
- 19:49Speaker 1: from China.
- 19:50Speaker 2: People, And it's like, yes you can, if you want
- 19:54Speaker 2: to make money.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Do you want to make money, hello, just sell.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Some shit, Just sell t shirts that say Sister Wives
- 20:00Speaker 2: on it. You would have made bag back then. But no,
- 20:04Speaker 2: Robin is the rock in the way like she's always been,
- 20:09Speaker 2: and she refuses to do anything that would actually be
- 20:11Speaker 2: good for their business and for the family. But Christine
- 20:15Speaker 2: felt validated by that random person suggesting this, because it
- 20:18Speaker 2: sounds like Christine has been suggesting something like this for
- 20:22Speaker 2: a while now, but of course it gets shot down
- 20:25Speaker 2: by their stupid committee voting, and then.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Until now now she's getting out voted, Robin says.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Robin does say she's getting out voted, but I feel
- 20:33Speaker 2: like she's just saying that to be a victim.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Did she get out voted? Because did they ever sell
- 20:37Speaker 1: anything from a third party?
- 20:39Speaker 2: Obviously now not They obviously didn't. And then we have
- 20:43Speaker 2: Cody complaining because he always has to sell every single
- 20:47Speaker 2: idea to all of the wives all of the time.
- 20:50Speaker 2: But I'm like, dude, this is what you signed up for, yeah,
- 20:53Speaker 2: Crime River.
- 20:54Speaker 1: One thing I wanted to mention before we move on
- 20:58Speaker 1: is the fact that hauling this thrift store display into
- 21:03Speaker 1: the Lesbian Emporium with based ask Kathy, who I love, Yeah,
- 21:08Speaker 1: but we never get any follow up on what happened,
- 21:11Speaker 1: like in the casino when they took their stuff and
- 21:14Speaker 1: they were supposed to be displayed in the store in
- 21:17Speaker 1: the casino and they were so excited about it. But
- 21:21Speaker 1: now where it broke down Kathy's lesbian, Like, what has
- 21:24Speaker 1: happened with these other displays? And furthermore, like what about
- 21:27Speaker 1: the investors. We were talking about that in season seven
- 21:31Speaker 1: and they were gonna be like getting back to you
- 21:33Speaker 1: and maybe giving you some money. What's what's the tea
- 21:36Speaker 1: on that? Nobody talking, nobody talking about it. We're at
- 21:39Speaker 1: Kathy's Lesbiani Borio.
- 21:41Speaker 2: The second hand store. It's not even a department store.
- 21:45Speaker 2: It's like a store. It's so great. I honestly, it's
- 21:50Speaker 2: I just love it, and like, I think we have
- 21:52Speaker 2: more episodes that will center this later on in the season,
- 21:58Speaker 2: so I'm looking forward to it. But then we move
- 22:00Speaker 2: on to Dayton's surgery, and of course Robin is being
- 22:03Speaker 2: neurotic because she wants to make sure that they are
- 22:06Speaker 2: on time for this surgery because it's a big deal. Yeah,
- 22:09Speaker 2: and he's gonna be awake during the surgery, which is
- 22:12Speaker 2: like really scary but sorry, can't even date myself seriously,
- 22:17Speaker 2: but like Robin's really scarred because he's gonna be awake
- 22:20Speaker 2: during the surgery, which it's like not that big. I mean,
- 22:23Speaker 2: it's a big deal.
- 22:24Speaker 1: It is a big deal when it's your baby, I know.
- 22:26Speaker 2: But it's like it's a laser. It's like it's fine,
- 22:29Speaker 2: He'll be okay, And he ends up fine, he gets
- 22:31Speaker 2: the surgery, his eye looks great, he can finally open
- 22:35Speaker 2: it up normally he can see everybody. Even with swelling
- 22:39Speaker 2: and stuff, He's like in very minimal pain. Like it
- 22:41Speaker 2: was all fine.
- 22:42Speaker 1: It worked out, yes, the end, Yes, But I did
- 22:45Speaker 1: want to say that it felt like in these moments,
- 22:50Speaker 1: even though Robin was performing and grandstanding, there is literally
- 22:55Speaker 1: a ladybug right there on my microphone. Sorry, I had
- 22:58Speaker 1: to remove the ladybug. But I could see that she
- 23:01Speaker 1: really does love Dayton, she really does love her children,
- 23:05Speaker 1: and there was just some essence of a suggestion of
- 23:10Speaker 1: humanity in Robin, which was nice to see. But they
- 23:15Speaker 1: do bring Dayton back into a Brown family party. It's
- 23:20Speaker 1: a threefold party. It's a party for Dayton because he
- 23:22Speaker 1: got his surgery. It's a party for Maddie because she's
- 23:25Speaker 1: leaving the next day to go to USU Utah State University,
- 23:29Speaker 1: I imagine. And then it's a party for Father's Day.
- 23:32Speaker 1: And I'm like, it's Father's Day. Isn't Father's Day on
- 23:36Speaker 1: a Sunday? Why are we getting elective cosmetic surgery scheduled
- 23:41Speaker 1: on a Sunday. That's not how that normally happens, unless
- 23:45Speaker 1: there's some kind of an emergency and you go to
- 23:47Speaker 1: the hospital and you got to go up to the
- 23:49Speaker 1: o R because they got to do something on an
- 23:51Speaker 1: emergency basis. They normally don't do a cosmetic kind of
- 23:55Speaker 1: minor surgery on a Sunday. So I'm just like, what's
- 23:57Speaker 1: going on in the timeline here? Producer fakery kind of funky.
- 24:01Speaker 1: I think it's producer bakery. He probably had a surgery
- 24:03Speaker 1: a couple of days prior, probably a Friday, Yeah, and
- 24:05Speaker 1: they're just mashing it all together. But he does come
- 24:08Speaker 1: to the party and he's kind of like the guest
- 24:10Speaker 1: of honor, yeah, which was sweet. Everybody's looking at his eye.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Everybody is truly so supportive. You can kind of tell
- 24:19Speaker 1: in this scene Beatrice that the family really loves Dayton.
- 24:23Speaker 1: And this made me think of later seasons where Robin
- 24:26Speaker 1: is just talking about how like everybody treated her kids
- 24:28Speaker 1: so padly. Oh for sure, I'm like, where I'm not
- 24:31Speaker 1: seeing any of that. No, it seems like everybody's super supportive,
- 24:35Speaker 1: Like even when he was getting his surgery done, like
- 24:38Speaker 1: Cody's calling Christine and Christine was super happy to hear
- 24:41Speaker 1: about it. Mary was super supportive and very encouraging and
- 24:45Speaker 1: talking to Dayton about it.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Like everyone cared about him, even the kids. Like I
- 24:50Speaker 2: know in later seasons a lot of Janelle's boys were
- 24:53Speaker 2: talking about how they were best friends with Dayton for
- 24:55Speaker 2: a really long time. So I'm just like, Robin, where
- 24:57Speaker 2: is it right, Well, nobody hates your kids.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Nobody not in the Akashak records as we have been
- 25:03Speaker 1: going through them one by.
- 25:04Speaker 2: One, no, ma'am. But I mean maybe there was some
- 25:08Speaker 2: shit going on behind the scenes, maybe off camera, but
- 25:12Speaker 2: it was probably all directed towards Robin.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Probably her kids. Yeah, I think the kids loved each other.
- 25:18Speaker 2: I agree.
- 25:19Speaker 1: And I think the moms loved the kids.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, because it's not the kid's fault that
- 25:24Speaker 2: their mom is a fucking demon. And then we have
- 25:29Speaker 2: Maddie leaving. She's moving out, She's going to Utah State University,
- 25:34Speaker 2: so no you, And it was very boring. I mean
- 25:39Speaker 2: it was literally just Maddie packing u ball of her shit,
- 25:41Speaker 2: Janelle complaining about it, and then Janelle and Cody driving.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Her up to Utah's. I just can't believe she's not
- 25:48Speaker 1: going to be in the house tomorrow. All of the
- 25:52Speaker 1: things I wish I could have said, all of the
- 25:55Speaker 1: parenting I wish I didn't leave to Christine and Aspen.
- 25:59Speaker 1: All the things I could have done to have some
- 26:01Speaker 1: kind of a relationship with Maddie. I did want to
- 26:03Speaker 1: ask you when I was watching, did Cody go with
- 26:07Speaker 1: Mary to drop off Leon?
- 26:10Speaker 2: I thought he did.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I don't think he did. I don't did he I
- 26:14Speaker 1: think he did.
- 26:15Speaker 2: But it was not as much of a production as
- 26:17Speaker 2: it was with Mattie. It was definitely like Mary afterthought.
- 26:21Speaker 1: It was Mary Mary.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Focused, and it was like okay by Leon, like there
- 26:25Speaker 2: was not There was not much care there as opposed
- 26:28Speaker 2: to with Maddie, which I'm not really sure why there's
- 26:32Speaker 2: that discrepancy there, like between the kids. Maybe it's because
- 26:35Speaker 2: it's the wives, Like maybe Cody favored some of the
- 26:38Speaker 2: kids more because he favored the wives more, Like he
- 26:41Speaker 2: didn't give a shit about Mary, so obviously doesn't give
- 26:44Speaker 2: a shit about Leon. But we all know Janelle and
- 26:47Speaker 2: Cody had their little renaissance in Vegas at this time,
- 26:50Speaker 2: so maybe he was feeling a little bit of extra
- 26:52Speaker 2: love for his kids that he had with her. Who knows,
- 26:55Speaker 2: But I was just kind of annoyed, like with Cody
- 26:58Speaker 2: saying I wish it would have said all these things
- 27:01Speaker 2: then say them now, like, what are you doing?
- 27:04Speaker 1: We're all here, Hello, We're in the moment, We're all alive.
- 27:07Speaker 2: He's like, I want to emotionally check in with her,
- 27:09Speaker 2: but I haven't like nurtured my relationship with her. Okay,
- 27:12Speaker 2: then just say hey, I love you so much. Sorry,
- 27:15Speaker 2: I wasn't there too much, like there for you very
- 27:18Speaker 2: much when you were growing up. But I'm here for you.
- 27:21Speaker 2: It's as simple as that. But no, it's too hard
- 27:24Speaker 2: for Cody Brown. Instead, we have to have a lecture
- 27:27Speaker 2: right about how don't let boys touch your body? No
- 27:30Speaker 2: means no. If any boys come to you, gouge their
- 27:33Speaker 2: eyes out, that.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Really gouge their eyes out with this finger, poke it
- 27:37Speaker 1: on in there and if you keep digging. Janelle's like,
- 27:39Speaker 1: if you keep on digging, it will pop out, Like
- 27:43Speaker 1: damn right, they just put them in taekwondo.
- 27:46Speaker 2: I know they couldn't afford that. Probably not, they couldn't
- 27:49Speaker 2: deal with that. And Mattie's like, okay, are we done?
- 27:52Speaker 1: Now? Can y'all leave? But I mean, I finally broke
- 27:55Speaker 1: free from my Mormon cage. I just want to settle
- 27:59Speaker 1: into a very lovely apartment for an eighteen year old girl.
- 28:04Speaker 2: I know, I'm like, lucky bitch.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Is it because she got a job with USU? Because
- 28:08Speaker 1: she did That's why she had to go early. Maybe
- 28:10Speaker 1: maybe she got a job and they're giving her like
- 28:12Speaker 1: a different she's getting page. It looks lovely. Oh my god.
- 28:15Speaker 1: If I had my own pad like that at eighteen
- 28:18Speaker 1: years old with my parents, I would imagine or Janelle
- 28:21Speaker 1: subsidizing my lifestyle. I would just be going half i'b
- 28:25Speaker 1: go and create Abby Prego Sta nante, honey preganan.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Well, I mean we're kind of leading up to her
- 28:32Speaker 2: inevitably getting with Caleb, and I feel like she started
- 28:35Speaker 2: getting with Caleb like really really quick. Well, I can't
- 28:38Speaker 2: remember if it's in this season or if it's next season.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Can we have a dumpster style conversation around that.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean she's probably with him.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Now, right because we discussed this before incredibly inappropriately. Yeah,
- 28:50Speaker 1: but that is who we are. But like the rumor
- 28:53Speaker 1: had it that Caleb was in communicato with her like
- 28:57Speaker 1: when she was sixteen seventeen, Like she met him like
- 29:00Speaker 1: when she.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Was sixteen at like a family funeral.
- 29:02Speaker 1: At a family fun I think it was the brother.
- 29:05Speaker 2: I think it was Cody's brother.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Yeah, so she met him at the family fun and
- 29:09Speaker 1: then they had sort of a text yeah, friendship relationship,
- 29:13Speaker 1: but like she has been in communication with Caleb, I
- 29:16Speaker 1: think around this time. So I bet she wants dad
- 29:22Speaker 1: and Mom to leave because she's about to crack it open.
- 29:25Speaker 1: She's about to crack it open. Hood dude, freaky and everything.
- 29:30Speaker 2: I do remember. I can't remember if it's later in
- 29:32Speaker 2: this season or in season nine where she immediately starts
- 29:36Speaker 2: dating Caleb and she tells the family about it and
- 29:39Speaker 2: everybody's like super supportive, even though they got together really
- 29:42Speaker 2: really quick, and she ends up like moving with him
- 29:45Speaker 2: to like Wyoming or something. So I don't know if
- 29:48Speaker 2: he's like in Utah at this point or if they're
- 29:51Speaker 2: like long distance. Maybe they're like in their like secret lovers.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I think are. I think they are, And that's just
- 29:57Speaker 1: total vibes. Yeah, Like I have nothing to confirm that
- 30:00Speaker 1: me either. But we've been around the streets for a
- 30:02Speaker 1: few years now doing our investigative journalism, and of course
- 30:05Speaker 1: we've been watching the show for a long time, especially you.
- 30:08Speaker 1: I think she's already dating and in love with him
- 30:11Speaker 1: and probably has already spoken about it. To Janelle. I
- 30:14Speaker 1: think Janelle knows. I think when she announces it next season,
- 30:17Speaker 1: it's gonna make a lot of sense and everybody's gonna
- 30:19Speaker 1: love it because they already know. And I think Cody
- 30:21Speaker 1: already approves.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Oh, which is weird. He definitely does super weird.
- 30:26Speaker 1: It's actual dude is twenty eight or something like that.
- 30:29Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, and she's freshly eighteen. But like whatever,
- 30:32Speaker 2: I guess because it's like a family friend, they know him,
- 30:35Speaker 2: so he's not a bad guy. I don't know whatever.
- 30:37Speaker 1: It's not like child exploitation happens in the LDS and
- 30:41Speaker 1: the Fads and the aub not at all.
- 30:44Speaker 2: But I do know that, like that's kind of a
- 30:46Speaker 2: normmolish thing in Mormon cultures, like where it's a younger
- 30:51Speaker 2: girl and an older guy.
- 30:53Speaker 1: So I don't know, girl, I don't even Mormon, Maddie,
- 30:58Speaker 1: and then I don't think're currently not Mormon, are they?
- 31:00Speaker 1: Cru I love their love. Yeah, I think it's working
- 31:03Speaker 1: out great and stuff like that, but you can't tell
- 31:05Speaker 1: me there wasn't a little bit of grooming going on. Maybe,
- 31:09Speaker 1: but I mean, I'm just not going to talk about
- 31:11Speaker 1: it anymore.
- 31:11Speaker 2: I do remember that Caleb is very nice though, like
- 31:13Speaker 2: when he does get introduced to the family as her
- 31:16Speaker 2: boyfriend and stuff, like he's super respectful and they do
- 31:18Speaker 2: seem very in love, and I do support their love
- 31:21Speaker 2: and everything now because they're in a healthy relationship and
- 31:24Speaker 2: they're of age now.
- 31:26Speaker 1: But don't you think it's whack though? Yeah, that Cody's
- 31:28Speaker 1: lecturing all of his girls about hyper sexualization and beware
- 31:32Speaker 1: of boys. But meanwhile, we've got this literal man, adult
- 31:36Speaker 1: twenty five to twenty eight year old talking to your
- 31:38Speaker 1: teenage daughter allegedly definitely, and you're like okay with that
- 31:42Speaker 1: because he's family or whatever. I don't know.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Well and I remember and not to get too off topic,
- 31:47Speaker 2: but this last scene in this episode was kind of boring,
- 31:50Speaker 2: so I don't care. But like later in the seasons,
- 31:53Speaker 2: when Caleb and Maddie are like getting married and everything,
- 31:57Speaker 2: they're on their relationship, mckael and Tony get together and
- 32:01Speaker 2: nobody is supportive of Tony, Like what's like very adamantly
- 32:06Speaker 2: not supportive, Like Christine has a really terrible reaction to
- 32:10Speaker 2: Mikelty and Tony getting engaged, and I just kind of
- 32:13Speaker 2: felt bad for her, Like, I know, we clown on
- 32:15Speaker 2: Michelty a lot. And I know we clown on Tony.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Going to pretend though that there isn't a massive difference
- 32:21Speaker 1: between Caleb Brush and too many Tacos Tony. I mean
- 32:27Speaker 1: the season Tony enters into the family and starts asking
- 32:31Speaker 1: them to get a second mortgage on their house to
- 32:34Speaker 1: pay for his wedding to day daughter, no asking for
- 32:37Speaker 1: seventeen tacos per person or whatever, and making all of
- 32:40Speaker 1: these demands looking like that, looking like that.
- 32:44Speaker 2: But I'm talking before they even talked about the marriage stuff,
- 32:47Speaker 2: Like when she started dating him, everybody was like, eh,
- 32:50Speaker 2: Tony sucks.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Like I mean, I was repulsed at the time, no offense,
- 32:55Speaker 1: I was repulsed at the time. Wow, Like Michelty, what
- 32:58Speaker 1: are you doing when you don't train your kids up
- 33:02Speaker 1: in the right way and they don't have a stable
- 33:05Speaker 1: father figure in their life. And Cody, I know you
- 33:07Speaker 1: were around, but you were spending your time in different
- 33:10Speaker 1: houses or different bedrooms, and a lot of your kids
- 33:13Speaker 1: were ultimately neglected. And so you send your girl out
- 33:16Speaker 1: into Saint George, you taugh to work in a pawn shop. Well,
- 33:18Speaker 1: she goes our fucking tory Taco's Tony I don't blame
- 33:23Speaker 1: Christine for being wary. I do wonder and I hate
- 33:26Speaker 1: to say this because I don't like to ascribe these
- 33:28Speaker 1: things to people, but there was kind of a vibration
- 33:33Speaker 1: of acism.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Oh yeah, a little bit of Yeah.
- 33:38Speaker 1: I mean, it's not terrible for me to say because
- 33:40Speaker 1: I don't like to do that unwarranted, but it just
- 33:42Speaker 1: gave the feeling of that at the time. But also,
- 33:45Speaker 1: Tony was very weird.
- 33:46Speaker 2: He was totally But mckeltie's also fucking weird. I mean,
- 33:49Speaker 2: even in this episode, go into the fashion designer, she's
- 33:52Speaker 2: like wearing this giant bone on her and interstitial whatever
- 33:56Speaker 2: she looked particular, she's yeah, there's she's just a weird. Yeah,
- 34:00Speaker 2: there's just yeah, there's just a couple of data points missing.
- 34:04Speaker 1: In that data center of McKelty. But Caleb was a
- 34:07Speaker 1: weirdo to be talking, doesn't sure, And so yeah, so
- 34:10Speaker 1: they embrace it.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Yeah. My point is is like double standards, Like you're
- 34:14Speaker 2: so supported, Like they are so supportive of Caleb, Like
- 34:17Speaker 2: everybody comes together, they like pull all their funds together
- 34:20Speaker 2: to make Maddie's wedding just absolutely gorgeous, and they're like
- 34:24Speaker 2: super happy about it, and everyone's on board. But then
- 34:28Speaker 2: when McKelty starts dating Tony, everybody's like, immediately anti Tony.
- 34:32Speaker 2: And granted, there might be some reasons to be anti Tony, Okay.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Yeah he's weird, he was strange, but it's just like strange.
- 34:39Speaker 2: It's the double standards for me.
- 34:40Speaker 1: It is, and I think that's gonna happen next season
- 34:43Speaker 1: because I went through all of the episodes of this
- 34:45Speaker 1: season and the most juicy thing that's going to happen
- 34:49Speaker 1: is the divorce, That's right. And then we get into
- 34:52Speaker 1: season nine and we've got the ramifications, the ultimate fallout
- 34:56Speaker 1: from the divorce, and then the adoption, and then we
- 34:59Speaker 1: end on Mary's banana sucking ass getting career. So things
- 35:05Speaker 1: are hating up and it's only a seven episode season
- 35:09Speaker 1: for eight.
- 35:09Speaker 2: I love that. Can we go back to that? Yeah?
- 35:11Speaker 1: I'd love thirty episodes?
- 35:13Speaker 2: Oh my god, you.
- 35:14Speaker 1: We go back to that.
- 35:16Speaker 2: We have the preview for next week's episode. We have
- 35:18Speaker 2: Christine's mom who is moving in with her with all
- 35:21Speaker 2: of her stuff. We do love Christine's mom. She's nice,
- 35:24Speaker 2: but Cody is not happy about her moving in whatsoever.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Because he has to move her and he's got to
- 35:29Speaker 1: do all the logistics to get her from her home
- 35:31Speaker 1: into Christine's home. But I love having Annie.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Comme I know me too. And then we have the
- 35:38Speaker 2: Brown's going camping or something. I think this is where
- 35:40Speaker 2: they go and have another trip where they end up
- 35:42Speaker 2: seeing Cody's friend Ken. Oh, and then Cody is taught.
- 35:46Speaker 2: There's a scene in the preview of Cody talking about
- 35:48Speaker 2: his sleeping arrangements and how he doesn't want to sleep
- 35:51Speaker 2: at the hotel with Robin with rub and Christine's like, oh,
- 35:55Speaker 2: you're gonna piss off more than one of your wives.
- 35:58Speaker 2: And then we also have Christine crashing out about Ken
- 36:01Speaker 2: and not apologizing to her for his inappropriate comment a
- 36:07Speaker 2: couple seasons ago, and Christine has talked about this in
- 36:10Speaker 2: her book, so we'll get to it when that scene arises.
- 36:12Speaker 2: But that's a pretty.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Juicy episode, I will say iconic.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Well, I enjoyed this episode.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Yeah, me too.
- 36:19Speaker 1: I had a lot of fun. Is there anything else
- 36:23Speaker 1: that we need to say to these beautiful raccoons before
- 36:26Speaker 1: we get up on out of here? Bochel?

- 36:42Speaker 1: tomorrow to cover the last formal episode of Love Is
- 36:46Speaker 1: Blind before the reunion. This is the wedding's honey, this
- 36:50Speaker 1: is the finale if you will, and I can't wait
- 36:53Speaker 1: to get to it. We'd love your support to come
- 36:56Speaker 1: back and watch it or listen to it until then.
