Pam Bondi Agrees to Testify in the Epstein Files Probe · The Vault: The Epstein Files

0:00
Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
0:03
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. Just when Pam Bondi thought she was out,
0:09
Speaker 1: they pull her back in. And honestly, it's a shock.
0:13
Speaker 1: I thought Pam Bondy was gonna find a way to
0:15
Speaker 1: weasel out of ever appearing before Congress. But now we're
0:21
Speaker 1: learning that the Oversight Committee and their threats to contempt
0:26
Speaker 1: worked and Pam Bondy is going to appear before the
0:29
Speaker 1: committee next month May, and the date, at least as
0:34
Speaker 1: of now, is May twenty ninth. And I'll tell you what,
0:39
Speaker 1: she better come prepared. I don't want to hear anything
0:42
Speaker 1: about the doo the doo the doo. Nobody wants to
0:46
Speaker 1: hear it. And Congress they need to come armed with
0:49
Speaker 1: the facts, don't show up and try and score political points,
0:54
Speaker 1: hammer home on the cover up. And that's certainly Pam
0:57
Speaker 1: Bondy's part in all of this. So that's what you
1:00
Speaker 1: be focused on. And they should come prepared, will they,
1:06
Speaker 1: Well that's a whole last other question. They should, But
1:11
Speaker 1: the fact that Pam Bondy is going to be up
1:13
Speaker 1: there and answering questions in the first place is kind
1:16
Speaker 1: of a shock to me. Usually people find a way
1:18
Speaker 1: to waezsel out. But I'm guessing because Bill Clinton, an
1:22
Speaker 1: ex president, and his wife who happened to be ex
1:25
Speaker 1: Secretary of State got deposed, then Pam Bondy is certainly
1:31
Speaker 1: somebody that shouldn't be able to avoid the subpoena. Look
1:35
Speaker 1: her predecessor, Bill Barr, he wasn't able to avoid it,
1:40
Speaker 1: and neither was alex Acosta, and neither should Paumbondy. And
1:45
Speaker 1: if we want to go even further Merrick Garland should
1:47
Speaker 1: be called up. What role did he play in the
1:52
Speaker 1: cover up? Why didn't they push further? Why didn't they
1:54
Speaker 1: ever try and get rid of the non prosecution agreement?
1:58
Speaker 1: And look, these are all questions I asked during the
2:00
Speaker 1: last administration. These aren't new questions for me. I've been
2:04
Speaker 1: asking the same damn questions for years and I've been
2:07
Speaker 1: met with the same silence. So as far as I'm concerned,
2:10
Speaker 1: everybody that's played a part should stand tall before the man.
2:15
Speaker 1: And if they prove to lie, here's an idea, charge
2:19
Speaker 1: them with perjury, you know, like you're supposed to. That
2:24
Speaker 1: would be nice. This procedure needs some teeth, that's what
2:28
Speaker 1: it's missing. Nobody fears the repercussions of bullshitting around. What's
2:34
Speaker 1: gonna happen, Jamie Raskin's gonna write you a harshly worded letter.
2:37
Speaker 1: I mean, come on, what kind of teeth does this
2:41
Speaker 1: even have? It has no teeth. And not only does
2:44
Speaker 1: Pambondy know it, she's exploited it now. I wonder if
2:50
Speaker 1: they're gonna let her get away with it again. This
2:53
Speaker 1: article is from CNN and the headline Pam Bondi will
2:57
Speaker 1: sit for a deposition and House Oversight Committees jeff Epstein Probe.
3:01
Speaker 1: This article was authored by Annie Grayer. Former Attorney General
3:07
Speaker 1: Pam Bondi is set to appear next month for a
3:09
Speaker 1: deposition in the House Oversight Committees Jeffrey Epstein Probe. Bondi's
3:15
Speaker 1: appearance now set for May twenty ninth, according to a
3:18
Speaker 1: committee spokeswoman, comes as the panel has pushed in recent
3:22
Speaker 1: months to hear from the former top Trump administration official
3:26
Speaker 1: about how the Justice Department handled the Epstein case files
3:30
Speaker 1: under her leadership. Is that too big of an ask?
3:33
Speaker 1: And I mean that sincerely. I'm not trying to be
3:35
Speaker 1: a wise guy here. You would think that if you're
3:39
Speaker 1: the Attorney general. Or ex attorney general, and you oversaw
3:43
Speaker 1: something like this that there'd probably be some questions come
3:46
Speaker 1: in your way at some point, and I would think
3:48
Speaker 1: that it would behove you to do the right thing,
3:52
Speaker 1: show up prepared, show the process the respect it deserves,
3:57
Speaker 1: and answer the questions that are lobbed you. And look,
4:00
Speaker 1: I'm not saying that Pam Bondi has to be meek.
4:03
Speaker 1: She can't defend herself, but she has to answer the questions,
4:07
Speaker 1: and she can't turn it into a side show. That
4:10
Speaker 1: should be unacceptable for everybody. A bipartisan group of lawmakers
4:14
Speaker 1: initially subpoena the then Attorney General amid outrage over how
4:18
Speaker 1: the department's failure to release all of the files as
4:21
Speaker 1: compelled by law. Well, I think it was both sides.
4:26
Speaker 1: But I'm shocked that the Republicans are playing ball here
4:29
Speaker 1: and they're going to go along with the Democrats and
4:32
Speaker 1: get this across the finish line. Because Pam Bondi is
4:36
Speaker 1: not coming down to Congress to give this deposition of
4:40
Speaker 1: her own free will. They probably have the votes behind
4:43
Speaker 1: the scenes, and I think that's pretty interesting when you
4:48
Speaker 1: think about how the Comer Committee has conducted themselves. I
4:52
Speaker 1: think it's pretty interesting that they have the votes to
4:55
Speaker 1: get Bondi to come up here and give this deposition,
4:59
Speaker 1: and I wonder if there's some cracks starting to form
5:02
Speaker 1: behind the scenes. But once Bondi was ousted, the Department
5:09
Speaker 1: argued she could no longer appear in her official capacity
5:12
Speaker 1: and would not sit for the previously scheduled deposition, even
5:15
Speaker 1: though the subpoena named her directly. She tried to say,
5:20
Speaker 1: or they tried to say, that she's no longer Attorney General,
5:23
Speaker 1: so why should she have to sit for that deposition.
5:26
Speaker 1: Of course, that's a cop out. The subpoena was for
5:29
Speaker 1: Poum Bondy, who just happened to be in that position
5:32
Speaker 1: of attorney general. It wasn't a subpoena for the position, right,
5:39
Speaker 1: it was for her, and having some time to chew
5:41
Speaker 1: on that the DOJ recognizes or the administration recognizes that
5:46
Speaker 1: it's a losing battle that Poum Bondi is going to
5:49
Speaker 1: have to get up there and give her deposition at
5:51
Speaker 1: some point, so you might as well get it over
5:54
Speaker 1: with as soon as possible. A number of Republicans had
5:59
Speaker 1: waffled before Bondi's departure over whether she needed to testify
6:02
Speaker 1: under oath after she met voluntarily with the panel to
6:06
Speaker 1: answer questions. That meeting on Capitol Hill, also attended by
6:11
Speaker 1: then Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche who's now serving as
6:15
Speaker 1: the Acting Attorney General, grew contentious with Democrats, ultimately storming
6:19
Speaker 1: out of the room. And that's not cool either. I
6:23
Speaker 1: get it, you're frustrated. Be the bigger person. Stop with
6:28
Speaker 1: the theatrics. Stop feeding into the craziest people in your base.
6:33
Speaker 1: I know the crazies are the loudest, but they're not
6:37
Speaker 1: the majority. The vast majority of people, no matter what
6:40
Speaker 1: their political leanings are, are pretty decent people and they
6:45
Speaker 1: all want pretty much the same thing that you or
6:47
Speaker 1: I want. The problem comes when people start sucking down propaganda.
6:52
Speaker 1: And most of the people that do that never leave
6:55
Speaker 1: their house. They don't know their neighbors. They're not going
6:58
Speaker 1: to the local you know, bar, whatever, hanging out with people.
7:02
Speaker 1: They're sitting on Reddit, or they're sitting on X or
7:04
Speaker 1: whatever and they're doom scrolling. So yeah, they're gonna have
7:08
Speaker 1: a skewed view, especially because the vast majority of them
7:11
Speaker 1: are looking to feed their bias. Right, they're not leaving
7:14
Speaker 1: their echo chamber. They're not trying to be uncomfortable, not
7:17
Speaker 1: trying to grow. And look, that doesn't mean you have
7:20
Speaker 1: to suck down every stupid opinion, of course not. But
7:25
Speaker 1: sometimes it means being uncomfortable challenging your worldview and asking
7:30
Speaker 1: yourself if maybe you've missed something. And I know that
7:34
Speaker 1: over the years, I've challenged my own worldview, and I've
7:38
Speaker 1: had a lot of blind spots. And as I've gotten
7:40
Speaker 1: older and I've learned more, I've filled some of those
7:43
Speaker 1: in and I'm still missing some. You know, you never
7:47
Speaker 1: stop learning, right, and you never stop growing. But the
7:51
Speaker 1: only way you can do that is if you leave
7:52
Speaker 1: that echo chamber and get into the moshpit. And when
7:55
Speaker 1: I say get into the mashpit, I mean the moshpit
7:57
Speaker 1: of ideas. The date for a Bond's new appearance was
8:00
Speaker 1: revealed as Democrats on the Oversight Committee announced they had
8:04
Speaker 1: filed civil contempt charges against Bondi for not appearing. The
8:09
Speaker 1: top Democrat on the panel, Robert Garcia, said he had
8:12
Speaker 1: heard nothing from Bondi's personal attorney, Committee Republicans, nor the
8:16
Speaker 1: Trump administration ahead of the deposition announcement. And my guess is,
8:21
Speaker 1: like I was saying earlier that the Democrats knew that
8:24
Speaker 1: they had the votes, and Pam Bondy knew that they
8:28
Speaker 1: had the votes. So instead of making this a protractive fight,
8:32
Speaker 1: might as well just acquiesce and come in, get it
8:35
Speaker 1: over with and keep it moving. But there's no doubt
8:38
Speaker 1: that Pam Bondi is walking in to a very contentious
8:41
Speaker 1: hearing and they're going to be looking a tripper up
8:44
Speaker 1: and they're going to be looking to catch her in
8:46
Speaker 1: whatever kind of lie they might possibly find, whatever it
8:49
Speaker 1: might be. So far as we're concerned, we've now spent
8:54
Speaker 1: weeks with zero communication with somebody that was legally obligated
8:57
Speaker 1: to appear, Garcia said ahead of the announcement. And look,
9:01
Speaker 1: he's not wrong about that she was obligated to appear.
9:05
Speaker 1: It wasn't an invitation. It wasn't a hey, you want
9:08
Speaker 1: to come over for some wine, although I'm sure she
9:10
Speaker 1: would have loved that. It was an order by Congress
9:15
Speaker 1: who's in charge of accountability and oversight. And if you're
9:20
Speaker 1: the Attorney general, those are your bosses. You know, the
9:24
Speaker 1: American people, Well, we're the real boss allegedly, but when
9:28
Speaker 1: it comes to oversight, you have to answer to Congress.
9:31
Speaker 1: None of this is new. This is how it works, unless,
9:36
Speaker 1: of course, you're dealing with the most transparent administration in
9:39
Speaker 1: the history of the world. Upon learning of the new date,
9:43
Speaker 1: Garcia praised the development as great news, saying, clearly, we're
9:47
Speaker 1: being effective. It's interesting how it's only when we take
9:50
Speaker 1: action and when we actually have to force Republicans to
9:53
Speaker 1: do anything, to call subpoenas, to get in front of
9:56
Speaker 1: our committee, that they actually ever do anything. He said, well, look,
10:00
Speaker 1: I don't like Comer, as you all know. I think
10:03
Speaker 1: he's a gatekeeper and I think his whole job is
10:05
Speaker 1: to protect the administration. But that doesn't mean I like
10:09
Speaker 1: Robert Garcia either. He has his own motivations and they
10:12
Speaker 1: don't align with mine. Anyone who's making this purely political
10:17
Speaker 1: is missing the bigger picture. It's deeper than all of that.
10:20
Speaker 1: But House Oversight Chair James Comer, a Kentucky Republican, swiftly
10:24
Speaker 1: pushed back, saying the announcement was made as quick as
10:27
Speaker 1: we could get the day confirmed. I said we would
10:30
Speaker 1: get a date. They have a history of being drama.
10:33
Speaker 1: Queen's in the minority on that Oversight committee. Comber added,
10:37
Speaker 1: Republicans on the panels separately criticize their colleagues civil contempt
10:41
Speaker 1: push as all theater and completely unnecessary. They were happy
10:47
Speaker 1: given the Clintons a free pass for months. The panel's
10:49
Speaker 1: republicans posted on x referring to the six months it
10:53
Speaker 1: took to secure appearances from former President Bill Clinton and
10:57
Speaker 1: former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Always the what about
11:02
Speaker 1: is them? Right? Okay? That was shitty too, That's why
11:05
Speaker 1: I called it out. You know what else is shitty?
11:07
Speaker 1: What's going on right now? So what are we going
11:09
Speaker 1: to do about it? Are we going to fix it?
11:13
Speaker 1: Are we going to make it better? Or are we
11:16
Speaker 1: going to point fingers and complain? And here's an even
11:19
Speaker 1: better idea. This is your chance to set the bar. Look,
11:25
Speaker 1: we'd demand that Pam Bondy go before Congress and answer
11:29
Speaker 1: questions full stop. If they would just do that, they
11:32
Speaker 1: would gain at least a little bit of respect. But
11:35
Speaker 1: they can't even bring themselves to do that. And why
11:38
Speaker 1: not because it was never their role, never their goal.
11:42
Speaker 1: The whole entire point has been to protect the administration,
11:47
Speaker 1: and up until now it's been pretty effective. The question
11:51
Speaker 1: is will it remain so all the information that goes
