- 0:00Speaker 1: It's the Mark Simone Show. Live from the WOR LifeVac studios. Well, hey,
- 0:09Speaker 1: we'll take some calls. 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 0:13Speaker 2: 800-321-0710.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I remember I told you the Carnegie Deli is coming back.
- 0:20Speaker 1: The Carnegie Deli being built as we speak. It will
- 0:24Speaker 1: not be in its original location. There's some store there
- 0:26Speaker 1: that's taken the lease, but it will reopen down the
- 0:30Speaker 1: street about a block away in what was the Stage Deli,
- 0:35Speaker 1: their arch rival for decades. But so the Carnegie would
- 0:38Speaker 1: be where the Stage Deli was. And here's the latest news.
- 0:41Speaker 1: It will reopen next week. By the end of next week,
- 0:44Speaker 1: it should be open. So a week from today or tomorrow,
- 0:48Speaker 1: Carnegie Deli will be back. There'll be no reservations. It's
- 0:51Speaker 1: just a first come, first serve. There'll be a hundred
- 0:54Speaker 1: seats in there. The space for the stage is not
- 0:57Speaker 1: as big as the old Carnegie Deli space, but it'll
- 1:00Speaker 1: reopen next week. Also, check out my Instagram. There's a
- 1:07Speaker 1: lot of stuff up there. MarkSimoneNYC at Instagram. MarkSimoneNYC at Instagram.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Make sure you follow me there. So, Iran. Listen, I'm
- 1:21Speaker 1: looking at the oil prices here. I'm just checking the
- 1:23Speaker 1: price of oil. Now, see, it's up again. It's up
- 1:26Speaker 1: $ 2 today. It's getting high. You know, it's starting to spike.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Price of oil, $ 95 a barrel. It's going to hit
- 1:35Speaker 1: $ 96 in a second. $ 96 a barrel. That's high. Brent crude,
- 1:39Speaker 1: which is the European stuff. We don't use Brent crude.
- 1:41Speaker 1: But Brent crude is at $ 100 a barrel. All right,
- 1:44Speaker 1: this is getting high. Now, what is the reason for
- 1:47Speaker 1: this sudden spike? Well, the Strait of Hormuz has been
- 1:50Speaker 1: open for a couple of months now. And oil is
- 1:53Speaker 1: moving through there. Tankers are moving through there. The government's
- 1:56Speaker 1: saying they were moving 9 million barrels a day and
- 1:59Speaker 1: sometimes 15 million barrels a day. Well, a lot of
- 2:03Speaker 1: people now are getting reports that that number is greatly exaggerated,
- 2:07Speaker 1: that they're not actually moving that much oil through there.
- 2:11Speaker 1: It's hard to believe a government would lie. It's hard
- 2:15Speaker 1: to believe a Trump administration would exaggerate anything. But a
- 2:20Speaker 1: word is coming out that we're not actually moving that
- 2:23Speaker 1: much oil through there. So that's the reason for the
- 2:25Speaker 1: spike today. Hey, let's take some calls. 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Let's go to Sal in Eastchester. Sal, how are you doing?
- 2:36Speaker 3: Good morning, Mark. Regarding the affordability prices, it's the taxes,
- 2:43Speaker 3: the property taxes, the school taxes that are causing the
- 2:46Speaker 3: problems with people being able to afford a home. My payment.
- 2:50Speaker 1: No, I understand. We've been saying that for weeks. The
- 2:54Speaker 1: number one expense that people pay is taxes. They pay
- 2:57Speaker 1: now more in taxes than they pay in food, in energy.
- 3:01Speaker 1: You're right. And the president, hopefully, he'll get that into
- 3:05Speaker 1: the message. The problem with the Republicans right now, they
- 3:07Speaker 1: don't have the messaging solid enough. But affordability crisis is
- 3:12Speaker 1: a big issue. Instead of saying there is no affordability crisis,
- 3:15Speaker 1: point that out. that the number one expense for most
- 3:19Speaker 1: people now is taxes. It's above food costs. It's above
- 3:23Speaker 1: energy costs. Taxes are the number one expense, and that
- 3:26Speaker 1: should be the message, that you don't want to vote
- 3:29Speaker 1: in a party that's going to increase these taxes. You
- 3:32Speaker 1: don't want to vote in a party that's going to
- 3:35Speaker 1: create these taxes. Now, the other thing they should do
- 3:38Speaker 1: is just announce huge tax cuts for everybody. Everybody. You
- 3:42Speaker 1: can do it easily. Just stop wasting money if you're
- 3:44Speaker 1: the government. You don't need to bring in that much
- 3:46Speaker 1: money Let's go to Mike in Florida. Mike, how you doing?
- 3:51Speaker 3: Good morning, Mark.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yes, Mike.
- 3:53Speaker 4: I think Mamdani releasing these files is clearly political. I mean,
- 3:57Speaker 4: it doesn't help that he takes a genius to figure
- 3:59Speaker 4: that part out of it.
- 4:00Speaker 3: But there's two quick things.
- 4:02Speaker 4: One, I noticed that Governor Pataki announced that he was
- 4:06Speaker 4: suffering some ailment related to the Ground Zero stuff a
- 4:11Speaker 4: week ago. So that was interesting that they kind of coincided,
- 4:16Speaker 4: the two announcements. And the other thing is, and this
- 4:19Speaker 4: isn't just a platitude that Mandani should be reminded of,
- 4:22Speaker 4: that none of these files would be necessary or would
- 4:25Speaker 4: exist if Muslim terrorists didn't fly planes into the towers.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Well, that's true. Yeah, Pataki announcing that he's suffering from
- 4:33Speaker 1: some 9-11 illness, but.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Maybe he knew the files were coming out. Maybe he
- 4:37Speaker 1: wanted to give them something.
- 4:38Speaker 4: That's what I think, yeah.
- 4:40Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sure he knew they existed, obviously. He
- 4:43Speaker 3: was the governor.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what? That's true. The Mamdani administration found
- 4:47Speaker 1: them buried in a basement at City Hall. But you're right.
- 4:51Speaker 1: They must have known.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:54Speaker 1: All right, Mike.
- 4:55Speaker 4: And it's clearly political, especially with guys like Stewart attached
- 4:58Speaker 4: to it, who... I could, you know, do without as
- 5:02Speaker 4: far as.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Well, he's okay on this. It's one good thing he's got.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Yeah, on this issue.
- 5:07Speaker 1: All right, thanks for calling. Let's go to line two.
- 5:11Speaker 1: You're on the air. Line two, how you doing?
- 5:15Speaker 5: Hi, this is Tori.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Hey, Tori.
- 5:19Speaker 5: I'm calling for two things. One, I wanted to say
- 5:23Speaker 5: that I don't understand where all the 9-11 money that
- 5:27Speaker 5: was collected... Where the victims went.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Well, hopefully it went to them.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Yes. Well, that was my hope, too.
- 5:35Speaker 5: But I know that you were saying before, like, all
- 5:38Speaker 5: the people that were left behind. But I thought we
- 5:40Speaker 5: tried to cover all them. There's commercials all the time
- 5:44Speaker 5: for that.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Well, that's that Tunnel to Towers Foundation. They do good work.
- 5:47Speaker 1: They provide homes and stuff for the 9-11 families.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:53Speaker 5: And the other thing I wanted to say, you were
- 5:55Speaker 5: asking why do we remember... Like, do they really remember Hawaii?
- 5:59Speaker 5: And I went to a service once for the Holocaust.
- 6:02Speaker 5: I'm a minister. And on my way there, I was thinking,
- 6:06Speaker 5: why do we do that? And then I got there
- 6:08Speaker 5: and I realized why we do it. Because if we
- 6:10Speaker 5: don't remember the past, we're going to repeat the past.
- 6:16Speaker 3: All right.
- 6:17Speaker 1: That's a good point. Where are you a minister?
- 6:22Speaker 5: In Jackson, New Jersey.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Oh, all right. Well, that's very good. A great adventure.
- 6:26Speaker 3: All right.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Keep up the good work. Thanks for calling. Now, one more.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Let's go to George in Port Jefferson. George, how are
- 6:33Speaker 1: you doing?
- 6:34Speaker 2: I'm great, Mark. Just to quote your opinion about Andrew Cuomo,
- 6:38Speaker 2: do you think he has any more political future here
- 6:40Speaker 2: in the United States?
- 6:41Speaker 1: No, no. He didn't have any political future two years ago.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Nobody told him. That run for mayor was about the
- 6:47Speaker 1: dumbest thing ever. He had absolutely no chance of winning.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Absolutely zero. He was the most hated guy in New York.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Could you imagine how delusional you have to be? He
- 7:01Speaker 1: had to leave his job in disgrace. He was governor.
- 7:03Speaker 1: He had to leave in disgrace. He fled Albany with
- 7:05Speaker 1: the police chasing him, and he thinks he can run again?
- 7:08Speaker 1: It was insane.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Can I ask one more question?
- 7:13Speaker 1: Okay, go ahead.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I was a court clerk, so I know Curtis Lee.
- 7:19Speaker 2: I kind of like him. He's kind of a chopbuster.
- 7:22Speaker 2: But they really try to blame Curtis. I'm just making
- 7:24Speaker 2: a statement. They really try to blame Curtis that Cuomo did.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Yeah, no, no. Curtis had nothing to do with it.
- 7:32Speaker 1: If Curtis had never run and he took every vote
- 7:34Speaker 1: he got and gave it to Cuomo, he still lost
- 7:37Speaker 1: and lost big.
- 7:38Speaker 2: They try to blame Curtis. That's all I want to say.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 7:41Speaker 1: No, I understand. But if you're a guy like Cuomo,
- 7:43Speaker 1: you always blame somebody else. That's what guys like Cuomo do.
- 7:46Speaker 1: It's never their fault. Again, you can't. leave in disgrace
- 7:51Speaker 1: the police are chasing them out of Albany and then
- 7:55Speaker 1: try to run again it's like Nixon try to one
- 7:57Speaker 1: year after Watergate trying to run again you can't do
- 8:00Speaker 1: it maybe if you waited 10 years maybe and if
- 8:03Speaker 1: you did something wonderful in those 10 years and redeemed
- 8:06Speaker 1: yourself maybe you could run again but Cuomo now I
- 8:10Speaker 1: give him credit for one thing he knows what we've
- 8:12Speaker 1: been telling you for all along the big donors when
- 8:15Speaker 1: it comes to politics the big donors are always wrong
- 8:19Speaker 1: They don't know what the hell they're doing. And he
- 8:21Speaker 1: very carefully before this mayoral race, he went around cozying
- 8:26Speaker 1: up to all the big donors, lunches, dinners, becoming their
- 8:29Speaker 1: best friend. He got all the big donors behind him.
- 8:32Speaker 1: They gave him all this money. They're the ones that
- 8:34Speaker 1: kept saying, Curtis can't win. Curtis can't win. And again,
- 8:37Speaker 1: always remember the big donors when it comes to politics
- 8:40Speaker 1: are always wrong. They always back the wrong guy. They
- 8:45Speaker 1: always get it wrong. Uh, They're all brilliant at their
- 8:48Speaker 1: own business. They've made billions in their own business. Not
- 8:52Speaker 1: one of them has ever made a penny giving political advice,
- 8:54Speaker 1: and they stink at it. Hey, we've got a lot
- 8:57Speaker 1: more to get to, so don't go away. Coming up
- 8:58Speaker 1: at noon today, Buck and Clay. They do a great
- 9:02Speaker 1: show every day at 12 noon. The most listened to
- 9:05Speaker 1: radio show in America, Sean Hannity. And, you know, at
- 9:07Speaker 1: 9 o'clock, we've got the funniest, liveliest show on radio.
- 9:11Speaker 1: It's Jimmy Fallon, every night, 9 to midnight, on 710WOR.
