- 1:16motor skills. I have a super, super big issue
- 1:18with fine motor skills, and I decided I wanted to talk about
- 1:20it and talk about discussing some of the tips for adults that
- 1:23I never really seen. No one talked about on YouTube.
- 1:25Okay, guys. So before we get started, I want
- 1:27to know, are you someone who is having difficulty with fine
- 1:30motor skills. Are you come to this video?
- 1:31To learn about it for somebody else?
- 1:33Let me know. In a comment down below.
- 1:34I read and respond to every single comment.
- 1:37So if you do it right now, let's start a conversation.
- 1:39Awesome. Right?
- 1:40It's time for another ask me. Well, video grab your ass P
- 1:43World merch. If it's a hat or a t-shirt, or
- 1:45whatever, you know, links in description below.
- 1:47If you don't actually have any much, and let's take a selfie.
- 1:50That's right. Grab your phone, turn around.
- 1:52Hold it against you and the I mean the background.
- 1:55I'll take a selfie. Okay, here's where I get
- 1:56everything. Ready. 3, 2 1.
- 2:00Okay, what you need to do now is go to Instagram, and Twitter and
- 2:03Facebook and tagged at the SP World.
- 2:06In that selfie. I want to see it's gonna be
- 2:07awesome. Okay, so all that rubbish is up
- 2:09the way, and I'll just take a drink with my ask me world mug.
- 2:12It's actually a cup. I have no idea why I said mug
- 2:14now, I feel stupid. Okay.
- 2:16So basically, let's get into this.
- 2:18There's a thing called fine motor skills.
- 2:20And this basically fine motor skills on this gross motor
- 2:22skills. Gross motor skills are like
- 2:24picking big things up like a grabbing like a spade or picking
- 2:26up your backpack or you know, putting on a coat or something
- 2:29like that. And then you have fine.
- 2:30What skills which is like the smaller detail like picking
- 2:33things like this up and holding small objects in your hand.
- 2:36Now like this is one example of holding a small object in your
- 2:40hand. But you know, there are
- 2:42difficulties that come with that.
- 2:44I'm going to get in some, if any of you guys have seen a video.
- 2:46I'll link it here. If you already haven't.
- 2:48There's a video I released about, I don't know, maybe a
- 2:50year, and a half, two years ago. It was called five autism life
- 2:53hacks, right? And in that, I talked about the
- 2:55fact that I wear slip on shoes, or I actually saw these ones are
- 2:58actually Vans autism shoes. Which pretty cool.
- 3:01Right? These are Advanced or when she's
- 3:03but our slip ons and rightfully so.
- 3:05So before I actually have these I had to take my shoelaces out
- 3:09of my shoes and replace them with elastic bands because she
- 3:11laces that difficult. Now the reason she always has a
- 3:14so difficult is because shoelaces actually have a huge
- 3:19disadvantage of people who have issues with final test.
- 3:22People on the autism spectrum. Actually are more prone to have
- 3:25issues with motor skills, especially fine motor skills,
- 3:28like our saying picking things up.
- 3:30One of the biggest ones that really bugs.
- 3:31Me is trying to open and pick out my headphones from my
- 3:36airports. Okay.
- 3:37Now these are are pods is a standard Apple kind of the new
- 3:41airports that are actually there like noise prove or noise
- 3:44cancelling. And if you open the pot, it
- 3:46takes me a while to actually open the bloody thing.
- 3:48But inside here, you actually have a to little like Wells,
- 3:54that whole of the ear buds. Now, I can't open these things
- 3:57long enough to actually take them out and I'll taking these
- 3:59out of here is actually quite A task for me to get these out.
- 4:02It takes quite a while. But I actually can do it in the
- 4:04end, but it's very difficult because trying, to put the
- 4:07pincer grip, which I'll talk about in a minute.
- 4:09It's difficult to open for these.
- 4:10Now, the pincer grip is where you have two fingers and you can
- 4:13like pins things kind of like a crab.
- 4:16And the pencil grip is the main key feature in, actually,
- 4:19picking things up for fine motor skills, right?
- 4:21And some other ways of where this actually comes into play,
- 4:25Go seeing earlier it with shoes, with shoelaces.
- 4:28Now, these are actually my running shoes.
- 4:30They're actually just completely tired like this.
- 4:32They only help me tie these up and they're completely tied like
- 4:36that. Just because it's going to be
- 4:38difficult. I could never untie these like
- 4:40that, like, shoes shoelaces themselves are so difficult to
- 4:44untie. I just never ever actually got
- 4:47the ability to do it because they're so difficult and they're
- 4:50so kind of like it's fiddly, you know, you got to get your hands
- 4:53in there and do stuff. And then my hands, kind of cramp
- 4:55up. And then I have no real action
- 4:57in my hands. I remember once we were walking
- 5:00the dog. Dog, and I had a dog lead in my
- 5:02hand and I kind of went to pull a little clip down to lock the
- 5:05dog lead because another dog going to others and it didn't
- 5:07work. It just didn't work.
- 5:08It just ended up pushing the lead further towards the other
- 5:10dog and moves us to say the person who had the other dog
- 5:14wasn't very amused. Now, another big issue that
- 5:17comes into play with the the fine motor skills.
- 5:21Is this? Hold on?
- 5:22Do any of you people over there? Who have watching this right
- 5:24now? I have children.
- 5:25I salute you. The job is a testing once a
- 5:28tough one, but it's also super rewarding.
- 5:29So hey. Shout out to my moms and dads
- 5:31out there. Watching this video.
- 5:32You guys are amazing. And you always have come across
- 5:35these little things. Now.
- 5:36This is basically, I call them poppers.
- 5:39I don't know what you call them where you're from.
- 5:42But basically they're little tiny, like, press studs.
- 5:45I guess, I thought that's a word and then you have to like, fit
- 5:47them together. You have like a male and female
- 5:50end and you have to try and squash them together.
- 5:51And by squash them together, you're able to fasten the Gamin
- 5:55together and bypassing the Gammas.
- 5:57Give it a go. You have a closed, but these
- 5:59things are the The bane of my existence, like, trying to put
- 6:03these things together. It never works.
- 6:04I feel like I put them together and I squeezed and I never
- 6:07really clicked and I put it down, I squeeze.
- 6:09And then the thing just falls off.
- 6:10My kid walking about, he's like a dad to get my jump.
- 6:13Has just fallen off from like throw it down.
- 6:15That is a really big issue. Huge issue.
- 6:18Who's this one next baby stuff. Stop.
- 6:20Putting pop this on baby clothes for people with bad fine motor
- 6:23skills. Now, the other thing along the
- 6:26same lines with baby clothes, is this, this is a baby government,
- 6:29but they have tiny. Any buttons now, these tiny
- 6:32teeny buttons are so difficult like getting the button through
- 6:36that hole is so difficult and like it's never going to happen.
- 6:42That is never going to happen. I've no idea why they make this
- 6:45whole so blinking small. But like China, get those
- 6:48buttons through that hole is super depressing because I can't
- 6:51do it. And then I feel like I'm a bit
- 6:54of a failure and then the other thing, the main thing is putting
- 6:56a key in a DOT right there. Still people normally have the,
- 6:59you know, front door keys. Or whatever and you put the keys
- 7:01in the lock it in a lock and open the door that takes a few
- 7:03seconds. For me.
- 7:04It takes ages. It takes way longer.
- 7:06It actually takes minutes for me to do this because getting the
- 7:09key in my hand and a position and the grip of how I hold.
- 7:12The key is really difficult and I feel like it's never really
- 7:14secure. And then, I put the key in the
- 7:15door, but it takes me ages to line up with the hole and then
- 7:19try and actually push it in to turn it.
- 7:21And, even our patio doors upstairs.
- 7:23I've got a key to open to open them and it's like, so it's the
- 7:26worst thing ever. But noticing that, we have these
- 7:29issues me and Naomi and My girlfriend.
- 7:31If you guys haven't been on this channel long, we decided that we
- 7:34would find some ways to overcome this, with some hacks.
- 7:36And, you know me, I love hacks and coping skills and strategy.
- 7:39So, I have three items here, which I'm going to be Paramount
- 7:43for helping you with fine motor skills.
- 7:45If you have the same issues that I've been experiencing, right?
- 7:48Just before we get into those hat.
- 7:49If you believe that this video is helpful to somebody and is
- 7:52worth it, please. Can you share this on Facebook,
- 7:55Twitter and Instagram and anywhere?
- 7:57You feel. It may help somebody because it
- 7:59really helped me out and it helped.
- 8:00You guys out as well so that I'd be super super awsome.
- 8:03Oh, don't forget to give us a cheeky like thumbs up because
- 8:05I'll be super cool. Let me know if you like this
- 8:06kind of video. So the first thing I'm going to
- 8:08talk about is sippers. I made a heck of a noise,
- 8:12zippers are basically Zips that they're kind of like teeth that
- 8:16integrate like this, but they have like a pool called on them
- 8:18and the poor card. It is quite small, which is
- 8:20perfectly fine motor skills. So, as you can see in this
- 8:22example, I have this fanny pack as American Scholar or a for a
- 8:26bum bag. Actually got this one for free.
- 8:27You to give us some. It was really really nice of
- 8:29them. But yeah.
- 8:30So you can see this pulling this ZIP open and close is actually a
- 8:34really good way to practice fine motor skills because it's such a
- 8:39difficult task to do, but it's also focusing your pincer grip
- 8:43and actually helping you overcome stuff.
- 8:45If anybody can hear anything in the background, it's actually my
- 8:47dog. My dog is the biggest pain in
- 8:51the butt and he always gets in the way of videos.
- 8:54And his name is Randall, by the way.
- 8:55So yeah, he's a, there's a lot of pictures on Instagram.
- 8:57So I highly recommend trying out the pincer grip with a zipper
- 9:02because what it does is it kind of starts to strengthen that
- 9:04skill of you actually using the zip, you know, forward and
- 9:07backwards backwards. And I actually may help it.
- 9:09I like it helps me. I feel like it really helps me a
- 9:11lot. So hey, I might actually help
- 9:13you. Okay guys.
- 9:14So the next hack I'm going to talk about is putty, right.
- 9:18So I have This stuff is like you sent to me.
- 9:20It was really nice. I did an unboxing for a company
- 9:23and they sent me this stuff which is a basically, a pinch,
- 9:26me therapy, do so to therapy do that.
- 9:28You use your cat. What kind of like a petty it's
- 9:29kind of like a, you know, a sensory or a static party that
- 9:34people use to like, cams. I was down but I found that this
- 9:37really helps with things like, you know, because you're
- 9:42squeezing the putty, it helps with a fastening those muscles
- 9:45and getting you used to gripping things as well.
- 9:48So the putty is We really good, but this one's actually a pinch
- 9:51do. So, if I show you guys what kind
- 9:53of like a, it's, I don't know. It's more like a plasticine kind
- 9:56of thing. So you can like, pinch this one.
- 9:59And yeah, it's really, really nice.
- 10:01I actually really enjoyed this one and it's just, I don't know.
- 10:06It's just, it's just a nice do really I highly recommend you
- 10:08guys getting some kind of a stress, a party or something
- 10:11like that or something similar to this Pinch Me.
- 10:12Chill kind of stuff because it's really handy and it definitely
- 10:17helps with those muscles. Front.
- 10:19Let's come to the last and final hack.
- 10:21Okay, I actually stole this from my son, but it was a double kind
- 10:24of, by when we bought it. This is that serves two purposes
- 10:27one. It helped my son because he's
- 10:28only little kind of, you know, home in on his fine motor
- 10:32skills, but also helps me with my friend motor skills.
- 10:34Now this thing has a bunch of different activities on it.
- 10:38Yes, it's made for children, but at the end of the day if it's
- 10:41going to help you as well, why not?
- 10:43So you can see here now, it has like these these little doors
- 10:45and then you can put these like latches on and push these or
- 10:49Things down which I can't do them on.
- 10:51But by doing these and playing with these, you're able to
- 10:55actually learn fine, motor skills and practice, fine motor
- 10:58skills, as well. So this bond is pretty cool.
- 11:00So it's got the lock on it and stuff like that.
- 11:02And then it also has this like that one.
- 11:04That's kind of cool. And then you got this padlock
- 11:06type of one. Not this board is really cool.
- 11:07We really enjoy it and we there's a way we wanted to get
- 11:10it. It's made by a company called
- 11:10Melissa and Doug. I will link this down below in
- 11:13description for an Amazon linkers to exactly the one we
- 11:16bought. If you want to get yourself one
- 11:17of these all your you kids on these I found it really helpful
- 11:20and the actually does help especially this one which is a
- 11:22lock port. Number four on the dot.
- 11:24I just show you guys a close-up. So this number for one actually
- 11:28is so good. That like it's really really
- 11:32helped me with trying these ones.
- 11:34We have a baby gate obviously and this this type of block is
- 11:37super difficult normally, but now since we have this this
- 11:41board, yeah, we managed to actually sort out, which was
- 11:44super super awesome. Okay guys, remember if you liked
- 11:48this video, please. Give it a thumbs up and share it
- 11:50with people who think could get value from this video.
- 11:52Also, if you are new around here, and you want to subscribe,
- 11:54hit the Subscribe button and check out my next video.
- 11:57I'll see you next time guys. Peace.
