- 0:00SPEAKER_01: There's a great big beautiful tomorrow.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: Shining at the end of every day.
- 0:08SPEAKER_01: There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: Just a dream away.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Hello, and welcome to Of Mice and Main Street Men.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: I am Sean.
- 0:20SPEAKER_03: And I am Jackie.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: And today we have a very special guest with us, our friend and reporter in the field from D23, Kimberly, who is here to talk about her first Disneyland trip.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: A little louder for the people at home.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: That's better.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: So this was all part of the whole D23 trip when I went.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: You've been a Disney person an awfully long time.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Much like Tristan, to not have made it to Disneyland to this point in your life.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: So what what sort of was your, you know, what expectations did you have?
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: And and how did you go into this whole thing?
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: Well, we've been going to Disney World pretty much since I was a little person.
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: Um I was like seven or eight.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Were you in The Wizard of Oz?
- 1:14SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: And Terror of Tiny Tens.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: So when you were a little person.
- 1:22SPEAKER_02: Yes, when uh I was uh I believe uh eight the first time that we went, or almost eight.
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: Um, and um so we've been going to Disney World my whole life.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: And my parents had friends down in Florida, so we often would go and see them, and then we'd go and you know, spend a couple days at Disney at that time.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: Um, and then as I, you know, grew up and we would go to Disney World and da la la, and and just we'd just never gone to Disneyland.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: And I just I guess it never occurred to me, like I didn't realize how much difference there was between Disney World and Disneyland until like you started talking about it and Tristan started talking about it and and some other people that I you know once we got him to go, he wouldn't shut up about it.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: Well, right?
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Which is shut up, Tristan.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: Tristan.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: Um but so it then it became a much a much bigger um a bigger thing that I wanted to do.
- 2:25SPEAKER_02: Where always it had just been like, well, you know, we love Epcot.
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: Epcot's always one of been one of our favorite parks, and so we just had always been.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: There's no Westcot, no matter what the internet has said.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Well, Westcot was gonna be a potential for the second theme park out there.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Oh but no.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Anyway, yeah, I digress.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: That's okay.
- 2:45SPEAKER_02: So we just had never we just never made the you know the decision to to go out to Disneyland, and then the more you talked about it, and the more I discovered how different it really truly is, um, the more the more it was just like, yeah, this is something I really want to do.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: So, what were you most excited to go or do or see?
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: I think just um I wanted to see the things that were different, you know.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: I guess in general.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: That I mean, like I know I love the Disney vibe.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: I love that whole Disney atmosphere.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: I didn't expect that to be different in any way just because it's like a Disney fan is a Disney fan, is a Disney fan.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: As far as like you'd get out like exactly, exactly.
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: But um, but I just really wanted to see those things that were that people say, oh, this is so much better in Disneyland, or oh, this ride is so cool in Disneyland, and and you don't, you know, it's like, oh, you don't get it, the characters still roam around in Disneyland, and you know, and just so I was just really excited to to to experience just that difference in the in the parks.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: And how excited were you to show Kimberly around for the first time?
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: Oh, I was very excited because it's always fun.
- 4:01SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's fun to go back to favorite attractions, but it's even more fun when you get to see someone else experience them for the first time.
- 4:11SPEAKER_03: And then you're like, yeah, this is my favorite too.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: So I will say for this trip, I did push you towards.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Well, of course, you were gonna do a package through your travel agent.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Of course.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: And I suggested at our friend Katie and Keegan's positive experience, the Hotel Lulu.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: Well, it was them.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: I didn't not realize it was them.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Thank you, Katie and Keegan.
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: I appreciate it.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: So, what did you think of Hotel Lulu?
- 4:34SPEAKER_02: I loved it.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: I loved the location, I loved the hotel, it was great.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: Um, I have no notes, as Tristan says.
- 4:43SPEAKER_02: No notes.
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, it was terrific.
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: I really, really liked it.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: And now I will say we we met you at the airport and then we we Ubered straight to uh we were staying one night at the Disneyland Hotel with our DVC points.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Because they got to be bougie.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: Because we got stubby bougie.
- 5:01SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's got the Murphy bed in it.
- 5:03SPEAKER_03: It is very small, but it's everything that you need.
- 5:06SPEAKER_03: And the point is very small too.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: The points that you require to stay there are very small.
- 5:11SPEAKER_03: The only time I was annoyed was when we had to pack back up again, and I was like, I have no room.
- 5:16SPEAKER_03: I mean, but then it was like, okay, think be smart, get everything off the bed, put the bed away, and now all of a sudden you have room to lay off.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: I will say it was a little, I mean, the Disney, the villa tower that just opened, what, two years ago, not even, I think, um, at the Disneyland Hotel, is it's lovely, but it was weird because we had to go in the lobby and then they like sent us out a back door to our hot to our room.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: We like turned down a weird sidewalk.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: It was up against a cement wall and it was the door open to the outside.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: It was very I was not expecting that, but clearly there was enough room in that footprint to put the what they now call a double room.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: They used to call it the tower room because the Riviera was the first place the Murphy bed for two people came into being, and it's so popular that they've now put it in every property they've built.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: But I guess the footprint was right, and and it was it was really cool.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Our bed was jungle book themed, and it was, you know, there was jungle book art on the walls and stuff, and it was very cool.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: But I only bring that up because we we went straight to the Disneyland Hotel and stored our luggage.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: Uh, and then I gave you options for lunch.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Yes, you did.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: I said we could go to Earl of Sandwich or we could go to Trader Sam's, or we could go in the park, and we chose Trader Sam's.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: Trader Sam's.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: So we did.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: We walked up, we had what, a 20-minute wait, and it could have been longer, but they said, Will you sit at the bar?
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: And we said, Sure, we said, heck yeah.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: Heck yeah, we'll sit at the bar.
- 6:55SPEAKER_02: Don't forget, we had just enough of a long enough wait that we got to go get a nice boozy dole whip first.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: Oh, right.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: And I was only mildly sad that they didn't put the flour in it, and that's so I said something to the bartender later, and he added the flour.
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: Yes, he did.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: Yes, he did.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: So that was a lovely way to start vacation.
- 7:13SPEAKER_02: A nice boozy dole whip.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: Full side at Disneyland Hotel.
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: Bless you, sir.
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Uh, so then we finally got in.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: We ordered some nibbles.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Well, because what did we get?
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: We got the black bread.
- 7:27SPEAKER_02: We got the barbecue chicken flatbread.
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: The lily left.
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: Blackbread?
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: I love the black friend.
- 7:35SPEAKER_02: I has made cocktails and the black friend.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: Apparently, I'm still feeling that boozy doll.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: Um, so no, we had the barbecue chicken flatbread.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: And then we also had the wings.
- 7:48SPEAKER_02: The orange spicy.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: They were so good.
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: They were delish.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: And then everyone had a new cocktail.
- 7:53SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: I had the oh, Temple of the Forbidden Rye is what I had.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: I had hippopotamite.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Hippopotamite.
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: I had the hippopotamite, also.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 8:03SPEAKER_02: And it was wonderful.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: And I will say the presentation on the on the Temple of Rye was pretty nice too.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: Uh also Kimberly got the special chair at the board.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: I did.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: Which Jackie, which to Jackie's benefit.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: Yes, Jackie's a little bit of a jokester.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: She was like, I think Kimberly should sit in the middle here.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: And I was like, okay.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, I've seen you on this vacation and I'll see a good lot more of you, but why don't you want to sit by me?
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: And then I realized, then I realized Kimberly got the magic magic stool that sinks at the bar.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: Uh but it's yeah, such a fun, a delicious food.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: Yummy cocktail.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: And we got to see some of the goofy, fun, silly stuff.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: Except you were in the bathroom when the uh oh was served.
- 8:48SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: I really wanted her to see it.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: The minute she went in the bathroom, someone got served an uh and she came out and the bottle was.
- 8:55SPEAKER_03: It just means we'll have to go back.
- 8:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: It does and order an uh oh ourselves.
- 8:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, 100%.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: Anyway, so that was a lot, and then we then we walked to the park, yeah.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: Which was a short and jaunty stroll.
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: We just walk right straight there through uh through downtown Disney, and uh and then we're there.
- 9:13SPEAKER_02: I mean, it was like crazy.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: That was so convenient and so just like I did film her reaction because it's always good to get lifelong Florida goers reaction to to that.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: Maybe I can get Tristan to post that in the social media.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: He posted, he posted uh Harper's reaction the first time she saw it.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: So we'll see.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: But so, and then oh, then right away we did Mr.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: Lincoln right there at the opera house because it's set up currently.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: The Mr.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: Lincoln runs, I think, until two o'clock.
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: Correct.
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: And then after two, it's like right before two, because like after two o'clock it switches at two o'clock, it switches to Disney.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: Walt Disney and Magical Life.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: And how did you feel about those attractions?
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: I loved it.
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: And that was honestly one of those things because again, anybody who's listened before knows that I kind of fall into that Tristan camp of those um the boring rides?
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the boring rides.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: I was going to say the World Expo rides.
- 10:11SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: Well, that's a polite way to say it.
- 10:13SPEAKER_02: Yes, yeah.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: Things that were built 50 years ago that no longer have the dramatic punch.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: But are still like to be able to put something like that together at that time period.
- 10:25SPEAKER_02: I mean, you know, if you're talking about now, it'd be like, oh, well, yeah, that, you know, but to have that technology or to figure that out that long ago is mind-blowing.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: Well, and how long had it been since you'd seen Mr.
- 10:37SPEAKER_02: Lincoln?
- 10:38SPEAKER_03: Honestly, I am not sure if I had ever seen it.
- 10:41SPEAKER_03: I kind of think that it might have always been like down or that we didn't go by.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: Well, and again, it was like, well, it's Mr.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: Lincoln.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: It's always been there, it'll always be there.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: But yeah, and it was really interesting because I I noticed on your list, what did we do after Mr.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: Lincoln?
- 10:57SPEAKER_02: We went and shopped because we wanted to go right back to Walt Disney.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: And go back to Saturday.
- 11:00SPEAKER_02: So we kind of stayed there on Main Street and and looked in some shops, which which Jackie and I had discovered because this was on a Tuesday.
- 11:08SPEAKER_02: We got there on a Tuesday, and this I got to Kansas City on a Tuesday.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: Plus Saturday, I learned a thing or two.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: You're welcome.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: I'm nothing if not random musical theater quotes, and it's actually a Friday, if you know Oklahoma.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: But yes, continue up to your point.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: Um the 70th anniversary had ended on Sunday.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: So literally the arbitrary day.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: They said our 70th anniversary is over.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: Um, so we were there two days later.
- 11:43SPEAKER_02: Now, all of the banners and everything were still up that said 70th anniversary.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: Well, at least that day they were.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: But I mean, like, they were there for a few days, actually.
- 11:52SPEAKER_02: So, like, you know, those were all up.
- 11:53SPEAKER_02: But we walk into the first store and we discover all of the 70th anniversary merchandise is 54.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: All this a little broad sweeping.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: There were like two shelves.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: It was like stuck in a corner.
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: There were there were more in other stores too that we there were.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: But yes, half off.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: When was the last time you walked into any Disney store and saw half-off?
- 12:13SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 12:14SPEAKER_02: Like I picked up a spirit jersey for like$35.
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: Like, when does that ever happen?
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: Never.
- 12:19SPEAKER_02: I picked up a Disney jersey.
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: Well, Disney will let you pick it up, but you can't take it home.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: Oh, right, yeah.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: You can pick it up for$35.
- 12:25SPEAKER_02: You cannot take it home.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: Put it back on the shelf.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: We like Jackie and I both got the super cutest little white t-shirts with sparkly Disneyland on it.
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: It says it doesn't say a single thing about the 70th anniversary.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: Don't tell them they'll take the discord back.
- 12:41SPEAKER_02: But like we were like, oh, surely not.
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: And it was.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: It was.
- 12:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: So it was in the 50th palette.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was in the 70th palette.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: True.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes, yes.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: But and I got I got a hat and also a polo.
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:56SPEAKER_02: So I mean, I think we uh, you know, we we got we did some really good things there.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: So then back to Disney, a magical life.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: And what what was your oh I loved that.
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: And again, I've been wanting to do Disneyland now for quite a while.
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: After the last D23, when they announced that they were going to be adding the Walt, I said, okay.
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: Not that we had any specific plans anytime soon, but I was like, I have to wait now until they add the Walt Disney.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: I mean, because now we have to wait until that.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: So I it was definitely one of the things I absolutely wanted to experience.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: And it's, I mean, it was it was cool.
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: It was so amazing.
- 13:34SPEAKER_02: And it's just like, thank you, Papa Walt.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: Uncle Walt, he prefers.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: He prefers Uncle Walt.
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: We're we're closer.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: You can discuss that with your therapist.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: Uh what and what did you think of Walt Disney?
- 13:51SPEAKER_03: Well, I thought that it was interesting to see the two animatronics basically, you know, back to back and the advances.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: And they literally are back to back.
- 14:00SPEAKER_03: They're on a turntable.
- 14:01SPEAKER_03: And yes.
- 14:02SPEAKER_03: But the advances that they've made, it's really impressive.
- 14:07SPEAKER_03: And I know some people were hating on his like face in particular.
- 14:13SPEAKER_03: I thought I thought that it looked good.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: I thought from certain angles it was absolutely spot on.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: And I go, well, it's a little mushed, maybe.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: But it still.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: And then the speech they chose to animate.
- 14:27SPEAKER_03: How they put the story together was uh very nice.
- 14:31SPEAKER_03: Yes, yes.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: So if you're a true Disney fan, you you will love Walt Disney and Magical Life.
- 14:38SPEAKER_02: And you know, so many people now, it's like, you know, that stuff gets put on the internet and yada yada, and they've got some type of like really great Zoom lens.
- 14:46SPEAKER_02: Like none of that stuff has ever been intended to be seen from three inches away.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: It's been intended to be seen from the stage to the audience.
- 14:55SPEAKER_02: And from where we were seated, it looked amazing.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: You know, and for anyone under the age of basically 60 that doesn't have a life reference to Walt Disney himself, it is important to remind people, the few people that want to branch off and go get some air-conditioned entertainment and not just run to the Matterhorn or Space Mountain, but who actually get a sense of there was a real man who created this and it wouldn't exist if it weren't for him and his brother raising the money.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: But but mainly him.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: So absolutely.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: Yay.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: All right, so what else was on the docket for that?
- 15:34SPEAKER_02: Okay, and then after that, we did Mr.
- 15:38SPEAKER_02: Toad's Wild Rod.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: Just plunged her right into.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: Although a longtime Disney fan, you do remember.
- 15:44SPEAKER_02: And I did, I did do Mr.
- 15:46SPEAKER_02: Toad, yes, at Disney World.
- 15:47SPEAKER_02: So I was actually really excited to get to do that.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: It's nice to revisit our friends in hell ever so often.
- 15:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, exactly.
- 15:55SPEAKER_03: It did just remind me though that one of the cosplays that made me laugh the most at the at the convention was the judge.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: Oh, the devil judge.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: The devil judge was a cosplay.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: Whoever you are out there, well done.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: Well done.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: Well done.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: No notes, as Tristan would say.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: No notes.
- 16:11SPEAKER_02: Um and then we did the Pinocchio um Dark Ride.
- 16:16SPEAKER_02: And um, and just in general, like one of the things I noticed like right away, um, was like, oh, first of all, those both now are no longer, I mean, Mr.
- 16:26SPEAKER_02: Toad was, but neither of those are in Disney World.
- 16:30SPEAKER_02: So it was so nice to be able to do these different rides that Disneyland has.
- 16:35SPEAKER_02: But they're all so much longer than the rides in Disney World.
- 16:40SPEAKER_02: And even the ones that are in both places, like Peter Pan, it just has so many more details.
- 16:49SPEAKER_02: And so it's it's a longer ride, it has more details.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: You're just kind of fiber optic stars, Disney World.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: I'm speaking directly into my magic band.
- 16:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: You've had plenty of opportunity to update those stars.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: Oh my heavens.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: Yes, that's you got us more politically correct Native Americans.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: Great.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: Now give us some fiber optic stars.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: Uh that's all I'll say about that.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: But so then we took a break.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: Yes, we went back to the hotel.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: Because your hotel is should be ready.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: Well, it wasn't.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: I had to go round and round with the front desk a little.
- 17:21SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: Explaining that when it says your room should be available at four, that doesn't mean starting at four to like 4 45.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: I'm like, that's not what it says.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: But I was I was polite and the guy got us our room and we were fine.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: But then Jackie had to rest a little bit.
- 17:36SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: And you and I, wait, what did we do?
- 17:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we went to the broken spell.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: We did go to the broken spell.
- 17:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we went to the broken spell and uh had a drink, or in my case, accidentally drinks.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: Whoopsie.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: Um I was disappointed that it was not the mushroom old-fashioned.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: And instead it was uh it was uh it was great still.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: It was a it was a chocolate chili old-fashioned, yeah, but made with tequila, which really makes it not an old-fashioned at all, but very tasty beverage.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: But yes, I guess I had not been with anyone who ordered the Benevolent Fairies.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: And they arrived in three little like beakers.
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: And each the color of Florafauna and Merriweather.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: Correct.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: So one, well, they're both they're all three made with vanilla vodka, and then one was made, uh, also had mango and passion fruit.
- 18:30SPEAKER_02: One had blueberry coconut and banana liqueur, and then the third one was a matcha, coconut, and honey.
- 18:37SPEAKER_03: Yum.
- 18:38SPEAKER_02: So I tried to drink them in sort of the order of like reverse order of sweetness.
- 18:43SPEAKER_02: So the one that was least sweet, which of course would just be the matcha coconut hook.
- 18:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:48SPEAKER_02: And so that like it it got sweeter as I as I went, because um, but I uh again, as Tristan would say, no notes.
- 18:57SPEAKER_02: I was not uh didn't mean to order three drinks, but I um sometimes it's just a pleasant byproduct.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you just gotta just gotta go with it.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: At which point, and and I will, I will continue to say if you're looking for just a little place off the beaten track where you can relax and have an adult beverage at Disney, the broken spell in the convention center is well, not the convention, the Disneyland Hotel Convention Center portion.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: Um, is it's it's really a great choice.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I really enjoyed it.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: Great beverages, and we hear our server the last time we were there was like the food here is really good too.
- 19:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they had some great stuff on the menu.
- 19:36SPEAKER_02: We had a dining reservation, so we needed to be a little bit more than a little bit.
- 19:38SPEAKER_02: We did, we didn't know.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: Which we went back and got Jackie and then we went immediately to dinner, yes?
- 19:42SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes, we did.
- 19:44SPEAKER_02: And which was at the Riverbell Terrace.
- 19:46SPEAKER_02: We had a dining package.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: Where I yes, where I did say when I was a child, well, if you look back in the all the old historical photos, it was originally where Aunt Jemima hung out.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: And you could meet Aunt Jemima, not I'm not judging, I'm just saying back in the 60s.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: Or the 50s, you could meet Aunt Jemima at the River Bell Terrace.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: By the time I was a kid and going to Disneyland, it had changed over, but I still, that's where I went to get my Mickey Mouse pancakes.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: And like the old-fashioned kind, before you had a mold or whatever, and this was like somebody went jit, jit jit for three pancakes and then gave him a cherry nose and a pineapple smile.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: And and he, oh, oh, when you ordered him basically a la mode, he had a band leader hat, which was like a chunk of vanilla ice cream.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: Which cream.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: Uh, but anyway, so we got there, we checked.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: Wait, you went to check in and they creepily knew who you were?
- 20:45SPEAKER_03: No, I was just looking at the menu.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we had checked in and we were just checking was telling them I was nearby and uh because they wanted to know if we wanted to upgrade to the seating that actually sits there and watches Phantasmic, as opposed to eat and go later to the show and sit in the reserve to go.
- 21:04SPEAKER_03: But we decided no.
- 21:05SPEAKER_03: But we said if Uncle Mickey was paying.
- 21:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and they said Uncle Mickey didn't have that in his budget that day.
- 21:10SPEAKER_03: No, but liar.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: It's liar and cheap.
- 21:14SPEAKER_03: It just does prove, though, that they can follow you everywhere with your magic band.
- 21:19SPEAKER_03: So what?
- 21:20SPEAKER_03: Speak directly into your magic band.
- 21:21SPEAKER_03: Uh but you know what?
- 21:23SPEAKER_03: That meal It was amazing.
- 21:26SPEAKER_03: It was better, it was like way better than I had anticipated because the the decor in that restaurant is not all that.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: It is, it ain't no chef chef paw.
- 21:36SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's it's just a little on the run-down side, I guess, is the best word.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: It needs a little TLC, a little plus.
- 21:43SPEAKER_03: It's been well loved, very well loved.
- 21:45SPEAKER_03: But the food, we had the what was it, the pot roast.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: You and I had the pot roast.
- 21:50SPEAKER_02: You had the pasta the lemon, lemon, yeah, lemon shrimp pasta.
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: Fantastic.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: It was so good.
- 21:57SPEAKER_02: And those corn muffins that came with it.
- 21:59SPEAKER_02: Oh, I
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: Could eat those all day long.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think really good.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: And dessert.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: I got the red velvet.
- 22:06SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 22:07SPEAKER_03: And then it was the creme brulee.
- 22:09SPEAKER_03: And they were both well, oh my gosh, that piece of red velvet cake was like the size of my head.
- 22:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:15SPEAKER_03: It was huge.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: So so really River Bell Terrace, I would highly recommend as a dining choice, especially if you're doing fantastic.
- 22:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, too.
- 22:24SPEAKER_02: It was a great thing.
- 22:26SPEAKER_02: And then we went to go do Small World.
- 22:29SPEAKER_02: And again, that was one of those rides.
- 22:31SPEAKER_02: Um, for those who know me, know that it was my mom's favorite ride.
- 22:35SPEAKER_02: And anytime we would go as children, it was always the first ride that we did at Disney World.
- 22:41SPEAKER_02: And um, so it has a very, very special place in my heart.
- 22:44SPEAKER_02: And I was really, really excited about, and I've heard nothing but how much better the ride is in Disneyland.
- 22:52SPEAKER_02: And so it was definitely on my like, I can't wait for this one list.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: And and what did you agree that it's better and why?
- 23:00SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: I loved um, again, it's longer, but I loved how it starts outside, and you're just it and we did it right at dusk.
- 23:09SPEAKER_02: So the oh my gosh, the weather was beautiful.
- 23:11SPEAKER_02: And the clock went off, and the clock went off, and we got to see the little parade, and it was just magical.
- 23:18SPEAKER_03: Well, and the fact that the new lyrics too.
- 23:20SPEAKER_03: It did.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: The flower room had the new lyrics, the fact that Disney, I don't know why Disney World resists the idea of putting the Disney characters in because it's so nice to see Disney characters in the countries where they originated.
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: And again, with Disney World, you have Epcot.
- 23:37SPEAKER_02: You have the option of doing, okay, Mulan is here in China, you know, um, Belle is here in France.
- 23:45SPEAKER_02: You've got that option with with Epcot, and they don't have that option in Disneyland.
- 23:50SPEAKER_02: So putting them, I think, into a small world is perfect because it does give that visual for you know, little kids that here's here's where the those those stories came from.
- 24:01SPEAKER_02: Here's where those characters came from.
- 24:03SPEAKER_02: So yeah, all right.
- 24:04SPEAKER_02: Loved it.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: Loved, loved, loved.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: And then then what did we do?
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: Well, then we were going to be we were gonna we found a seat for the parade and we got pixie dusted.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: Yes, yes, we did.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: It was a very magical moment because it, you know, even though it was our first day, we'd walked enough and it was Well, and I'd had like a crazy girly flight.
- 24:25SPEAKER_02: So I've been up since two o'clock that morning.
- 24:27SPEAKER_02: Oh, right.
- 24:27SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, central Illinois time, or Illinois time, not California time.
- 24:33SPEAKER_02: So by the way, it was a very long day.
- 24:36SPEAKER_02: Um, so we were getting really, really tired.
- 24:39SPEAKER_02: And uh and the cast member came over to us and asked if we wanted to come sit in the VIP section on like real seats and this was for paint the night.
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: Yes, for paint the night, paint the night.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: And but then she also said, and you're welcome to stay here to watch the fireworks, which even though I had had in my head that you needed to see your fireworks in front of the castle, I'm like, there will not be a chair in front of the castle.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: Correct.
- 25:03SPEAKER_02: No, so it's like all the projections on Small World, which is so different because then I mean, yeah, it's not the castle, but you're not losing that portion of the experience.
- 25:14SPEAKER_02: And that's so cool.
- 25:15SPEAKER_02: Whereas again, in Disney World, it it's okay to see the fireworks from other places, but you don't get those projections anywhere else.
- 25:23SPEAKER_02: And I love that they do that in Disneyland.
- 25:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so love, and I again grew up with nighttime parades in Disney World.
- 25:33SPEAKER_02: I've missed them tremendously.
- 25:36SPEAKER_02: Very, very excited about seeing the nighttime parade again um in October when I'm there.
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: Um, but I I was really looking forward to paint the night, and it was just it was so much fun to get to see those nighttime parades again and all those lights and the yeah.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: And then did we do something else before we went back to sleep the sleep of Disney?
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: Phantasmic, because that's what we're doing.
- 25:59SPEAKER_02: Oh, right.
- 25:59SPEAKER_00: Then we had then we went back for our reserve seating.
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: And what did you think of Phantasmic in Disney?
- 26:04SPEAKER_02: I I loved it, but I could not believe that they got all of those giant boats and everything on that tiny little body of water.
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: And then they have a giant body of water in Florida and stick a toy boat out.
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: Yes, yeah.
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: It was so much fun because it's just like right there.
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: Um, and but the the water is so small, and these boats are.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think Jackie and I were both like, oh, does she see the pirate ship yet?
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: I don't think she does.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: And then there was the big cannon.
- 26:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and then I wouldn't like, how do they get that pirate ship on that tiny?
- 26:41SPEAKER_03: That's what I mean about being with new people, because like I knew, and so I was like looking back into my parents.
- 26:46SPEAKER_03: I was like, I want to see her face.
- 26:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I loved it.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then did we do anything after that?
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: Nope.
- 26:52SPEAKER_02: Then we went back and slept.
- 26:53SPEAKER_02: Well, because I still had because we went back to your hotel.
- 26:56SPEAKER_02: I still had new.
- 26:57SPEAKER_02: You had to get your luggage and then Uber to my hotel.
- 27:02SPEAKER_02: So, yeah, by the time I actually got back to my hotel, I literally had been up for 24 hours.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, Larney.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: All right, so we slept the sleep of Disney and of travel.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 27:12SPEAKER_00: And started the next day at California.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: California Adventures.
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: And what did you think about California Adventure?
- 27:17SPEAKER_02: It was a lot of fun.
- 27:18SPEAKER_02: It reminds me a lot more of um more like the Hollywood studio vibe.
- 27:22SPEAKER_02: Like it gave me that vibe a lot.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: That um who don't say that too loud, they'll start having Jollywood nights there.
- 27:30SPEAKER_02: Would that be bad?
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: No, probably not.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: Well, it was exciting because Jackie even, it's like they had already started putting up the Oogie Boogie stuff.
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: And even Oogie Boogie was like out over the turnstiles.
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: And that cool thing where they've got like bats flying out of the Carthay Circle Belfry.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: I'm like, that is very cool.
- 27:49SPEAKER_02: Yes, because they just started putting up some of the Halloween style which is the first time.
- 27:55SPEAKER_02: Yes, I thought that was great.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: But the the the vibe of California Adventure just reminded me more of that Hollywood studios, that old-time Hollywood 1920s Hollywood type type vibe.
- 28:06SPEAKER_02: Um, super fun, lots and lots of of really great rides.
- 28:10SPEAKER_02: Um, and again, we kind of tried to do things that weren't stuff that were the same thing.
- 28:14SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: Kimberly really did not want a swinging I Savannah has scared her off the swinging uh things on the Pixar pal around.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: Oh no.
- 28:23SPEAKER_02: The Wheel of Death.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: Kimberly was like, absolutely not.
- 28:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because he said, Do you want to go on?
- 28:28SPEAKER_02: I said the wheel of death, that's a big no.
- 28:29SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no, no.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: And I was like, well, we can do a stationary one, which actually goes higher because it's actually attached to the outer rim.
- 28:38SPEAKER_02: But that didn't feel any worse than being like on the Skyliner.
- 28:41SPEAKER_02: And I I highly recommend that.
- 28:42SPEAKER_02: So do not let Harper and Harper sway you into doing it.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: I think it was Savannah.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: Well, the Savannah says that Harper.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 28:52SPEAKER_02: Harper's the one who wanted to do it.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: It was Harper's fault.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: Now I understand.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: But um, yeah, don't do that.
- 28:59SPEAKER_02: Just ride the stationary ones.
- 29:00SPEAKER_02: Um yes.
- 29:01SPEAKER_00: Monsters.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: So we did monsters in the world.
- 29:03SPEAKER_00: What did you think?
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: That's so cute.
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, it's so much fun.
- 29:06SPEAKER_00: Now it has an indeterminate closing date because we don't know what's happening with Avatar.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: Because originally they had said it would be gone like by now.
- 29:15SPEAKER_03: I knew that, but I did for I missed the memory.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: They have enough to build over in the corner with Cocoa.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: They they can't.
- 29:22SPEAKER_02: So Monsters Inc., and then we did Soren Over America, which uh again, like we have Soren at Disney World, but the Soren Over America is different.
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: And again, I know that like people have not liked it.
- 29:35SPEAKER_00: There's the haters.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: I'm sick of the haters.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: I hate the haters.
- 29:40SPEAKER_00: I know Patrick Warburton did a little introduction to his introduction.
- 29:45SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 29:45SPEAKER_03: To himself.
- 29:46SPEAKER_00: To himself.
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: And that handsome young guy who told us what to where to still are these little beauties.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: But uh, but yeah, I loved it.
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was uh yeah, the transitions weren't as you know, that they didn't do the whole like dust in the air, whatever, but it uh stop dating.
- 30:05SPEAKER_02: Right, and there's some truly beautiful parts of the US, and it was so just it was just nice to see.
- 30:11SPEAKER_02: And I thought it was a great little tribute to the 250th anniversary.
- 30:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then Mater's Graveyard Jamboree or Jamboree, well, they put up the graveyard right, but I don't think we'll really get regularly.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: I think it will only be a big thing.
- 30:24SPEAKER_02: So the regular name is just Matt Maiders Jamboree.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: Junkyard, junkyard.
- 30:29SPEAKER_02: Oh, junkyard.
- 30:30SPEAKER_02: Okay, I just saw the graveyard sign, so I wasn't sure what it was actually called.
- 30:34SPEAKER_02: But um, so yeah, again, absolutely darling.
- 30:36SPEAKER_02: Thought it was so much fun.
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: And then we did the Wheel of Death, um, but in the stationary cars.
- 30:42SPEAKER_02: So I liked it.
- 30:43SPEAKER_02: You got so lots of gorgeous views, and that was fun.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: Um, and then Which as long as you don't have to deal with the line, because the line by the time we left was like twice as long.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: And the problem is there's only half as many of those cars.
- 30:56SPEAKER_03: Do they have uh a lightning lane for that?
- 30:59SPEAKER_03: They don't, do they?
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: No.
- 31:00SPEAKER_03: That's okay.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no bueno, as they say in Coco.
- 31:04SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 31:05SPEAKER_02: And then, and then the ride of rides.
- 31:10SPEAKER_02: So I do not do Tower of Terror, I do not do Expedition Everest.
- 31:17SPEAKER_02: I do not like anything with large drops.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: You should accept the entire Disney canon if you're a true Disney fan.
- 31:23SPEAKER_02: Well, I just it's it's I'm old and my body hates it.
- 31:27SPEAKER_02: Um, so I don't like anything with big drops.
- 31:30SPEAKER_02: Um, and and Jackie Hitt said, oh, well, you know, like Guardian's Mission Breakout.
- 31:37SPEAKER_02: It's it's a lot tamer, like it's a little bit more like just bouncy.
- 31:41SPEAKER_02: Like I thought it was, I think it's really fun.
- 31:43SPEAKER_02: I think, I know, I think, and I so I was like, okay, all right, I'm gonna, I'm gonna do this.
- 31:49SPEAKER_02: And if I die, well, then I've died in the happiest place on earth.
- 31:53SPEAKER_00: So I thought fine.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: Finally, the happiest place, not the most magical.
- 31:57SPEAKER_00: You've spent enough of your time at the most vegetable.
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 31:59SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna die at the happiest place on earth.
- 32:02SPEAKER_02: And um, so we um we had a lightning lane for it, if I remember correctly.
- 32:08SPEAKER_02: Yes, yeah, yeah.
- 32:10SPEAKER_02: And I was feeling a little uh a little nervous and a little scared.
- 32:14SPEAKER_02: Trepidatious, as we say in the business.
- 32:16SPEAKER_02: A little bit, a little bit, but um, I I did it.
- 32:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yes, and you'll never do it again.
- 32:22SPEAKER_02: No, I liked it.
- 32:23SPEAKER_02: Okay, I liked it.
- 32:25SPEAKER_02: Like I was actually like, oh god, oh god, oh god.
- 32:28SPEAKER_02: And then like I was like laughing.
- 32:29SPEAKER_02: Yes, and I I liked it.
- 32:32SPEAKER_02: Oh my goodness.
- 32:33SPEAKER_02: So yeah, my so my daughter's first reaction to it was, oh, so you'll do Tower of Terror with me?
- 32:38SPEAKER_02: Didn't say that.
- 32:39SPEAKER_00: But but next time we go to California, I will do Mission Break.
- 32:46SPEAKER_03: So yay.
- 32:47SPEAKER_03: It is at the very top of my list for a track.
- 32:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:50SPEAKER_02: No, it was fun, it was a lot of fun.
- 32:53SPEAKER_02: And then um, and then you had a lightning lane for Matterhorn, so we changed parks.
- 32:58SPEAKER_02: Yes, and again, this is one of those like this is so crazy.
- 33:01SPEAKER_02: Cause like, you know, if you decide, hey, we're in Magic Kingdom.
- 33:05SPEAKER_02: 15 minutes, yeah, it's a 15-minute walk from you, just like boom, yeah, and then it was great, yeah.
- 33:11SPEAKER_03: So we did Matterhorn and then we did the Nemo sub, which again I do have to say Matterhorn.
- 33:17SPEAKER_03: We talk all the time about it being Dr.
- 33:20SPEAKER_03: Matterhorn Chiropology.
- 33:21SPEAKER_03: Oh, right, yeah, because it like busts your butt.
- 33:23SPEAKER_00: But they have changed they replaced the track and did some upgrades.
- 33:28SPEAKER_03: The seats now have padded, so your poor coccycks is not jamming into this hard plastic.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: Don't break my coccyck, Donald.
- 33:38SPEAKER_03: But it's so now I'm like, I'll go on it over and over again because it is comfortable.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: Because it was closed when we went with Matt and Sarah, right?
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: I think they were refurbishing stuff.
- 33:48SPEAKER_02: And I that was my favorite.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: Like I loved the Matterhorn.
- 33:52SPEAKER_02: I loved it.
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: It was definitely my favorite.
- 33:54SPEAKER_02: I had so much fun on that.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: I will say it's always entertaining on my Sirius XM when they play the Matterhorn Yodel, like waiting in line yodeling.
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: And then they like also play the like screams of the Yeti.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: It's it's a unique three minutes on my car.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 34:13SPEAKER_02: And then we did the Nemo subs.
- 34:15SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 34:15SPEAKER_02: Which again, because I'm an old school Disney World, I remember 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
- 34:22SPEAKER_02: Um, so again, I was very excited, even though the theming is different, the concept is the same, and it was so much fun to get back on those subs that you know, you're way, way, way down so deep in the water.
- 34:35SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: Don't tell Jackie's mother.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: She swore to God it was diving and she wanted to stand right up.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 34:43SPEAKER_02: So that was loads of fun.
- 34:44SPEAKER_02: And then we uh we decided on a lunch at uh Earl of Sandwich, which again, because Disney Springs or Disney uh downtown Disney is right there.
- 34:53SPEAKER_02: So again, Tia, hey, your royalty makes some good Sammies, thank you.
- 34:58SPEAKER_02: Um that was that was very yummy, and there were a couple more things because you guys had to get switched then um uh right, yes.
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: So Jackie went with you to your hotel, yeah, and I and I took the luggage to our hotel, which I thought was one hotel and was a different hotel.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 35:17SPEAKER_02: Well, we all ended up going together because there were a couple things I wanted to pick up.
- 35:21SPEAKER_02: Oh, right.
- 35:22SPEAKER_02: Um, like on the way out and at at your hot at the Disneyland hotel.
- 35:26SPEAKER_02: So we all went together and then all got into the Uber, and that was like a whole thing because somebody else took our Uber and like Oh cluster, yes.
- 35:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:36SPEAKER_02: And so finally, like, we get the Uber driver picks up the right people who is us and then takes us to not his fault, but the wrong hotel.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: No, because there are many Marriottes in Anaheim, and to my credit, one is the Anaheim Marriott and one is the Marriott Anaheim convention center, I get.
- 35:56SPEAKER_00: But it I should have known for the travel agent rate I was getting we were not next door to the to the convention center.
- 36:04SPEAKER_00: True, true, true.
- 36:04SPEAKER_00: But we eventually found the correct hotel.
- 36:06SPEAKER_02: So yeah, so you guys went on to your hotel, and that one is was like a I don't know, five, six minute walk from my hotel.
- 36:14SPEAKER_02: So I just walked over to mine.
- 36:15SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 36:16SPEAKER_02: Um, and then we had a little bit of an afternoon, like chill so that you guys could get settled and everything.
- 36:21SPEAKER_02: And um, and then and then we went to back up with for Carthay Circle Carthay Circle for some drinks and some some numnuns.
- 36:30SPEAKER_02: Um, and that was absolutely lovely.
- 36:32SPEAKER_02: Enjoyed that thoroughly.
- 36:33SPEAKER_00: I have met I've had several converts to the Carthay Circle.
- 36:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I will uh I will go.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: Especially that lounge and the Scotch Mist.
- 36:40SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 36:41SPEAKER_02: And then we had our dessert party for World of Color.
- 36:45SPEAKER_03: That is the top of my list for this trip.
- 36:49SPEAKER_03: What a wonderful desert.
- 36:51SPEAKER_00: You've heard it, you heard it here, folks.
- 36:52SPEAKER_00: She liked something that cost extra.
- 36:55SPEAKER_00: But but it was because I had clients who went over New Year's, and I was like, first of all, it is the most reasonably priced dessert party that Disney offers.
- 37:06SPEAKER_00: Don't say that to the mouse.
- 37:08SPEAKER_00: Don't speak that into the magic band.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: No.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: But I mean, we had an amazing table.
- 37:14SPEAKER_00: We saw yeah, I know I was a little nervous because I was like, she told me I could pick whatever I wanted, and I chose the elevated directors like chairs and the and like a bar table.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: And but we were at table number five.
- 37:28SPEAKER_00: It was prophetic, and our server Bosco was magical.
- 37:33SPEAKER_02: Oh, he was fantastic.
- 37:34SPEAKER_00: He even brought us reef, he brought us a second round of our of our cocktail and extra sodas and the desserts are so good.
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, there's charcuterie in there too, but that it was a beautiful box that it came with a one world of color, one like band around it.
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: But oh my gosh, the charcuterie was good, but yes, the macaron, there was a little Mickey Head Rice Krispie treat, there was this chocolate cookie dough brownie thing.
- 38:05SPEAKER_03: Oh wow, yeah, it was super good.
- 38:06SPEAKER_02: And then we also got a world of color trading pin with it, which was super cool.
- 38:11SPEAKER_02: And just I've never done any of the dessert parties.
- 38:15SPEAKER_02: So this was my first dessert party experience, also, and it like it set the bar.
- 38:21SPEAKER_02: I mean, it really did because it was phenomenal, and what a great way to watch World of Color.
- 38:25SPEAKER_02: I just it was wonderful.
- 38:28SPEAKER_00: A great seat, comfortably seated, having a cocktail, and munching and one munching on some table.
- 38:36SPEAKER_03: One, the show one was beautiful.
- 38:38SPEAKER_03: Yes, it was.
- 38:39SPEAKER_00: It was, and it had just come back, they had just stopped happiness.
- 38:43SPEAKER_00: Disney stopped happiness on Sunday.
- 38:46SPEAKER_02: The happiest place on earth.
- 38:47SPEAKER_00: Nope, happiness is out the door.
- 38:49SPEAKER_00: Uh was on Sunday, and then they brought one back on Monday, and we saw it on Wednesday.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: Wednesday.
- 38:56SPEAKER_00: And it was the one they created for the hundredth anniversary.
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: But uh, it was it was wonderful.
- 39:04SPEAKER_02: Loved it.
- 39:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 39:05SPEAKER_02: Hey, you know what else I found out on Wednesday?
- 39:08SPEAKER_02: What I think Wednesday was the day I found out that Doritos were that's right.
- 39:14SPEAKER_00: You were this many years old when you found out that Doritos had been invented at Disneyland.
- 39:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Disneyland.
- 39:19SPEAKER_02: Disneyland, yeah.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: Look it up, it's a real story.
- 39:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so you know, this is not only a good time, but educational.
- 39:26SPEAKER_00: So edge, infotainment.
- 39:27SPEAKER_00: That's what we thrive on, uh, which is different than infotainment, as I believe we've discussed on other yeah, no, don't Google that.
- 39:36SPEAKER_02: Um and then after the dessert party, um, you had a lightning lane for guardians again.
- 39:43SPEAKER_02: Yes, because you got a you got an extra lightning lane with your stay at the Disneyland Hotel.
- 39:48SPEAKER_03: And it was a use it or lose it type of video.
- 39:50SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 39:51SPEAKER_02: So you decided that was the one you wanted to go on, and that was fine.
- 39:53SPEAKER_02: I did not have a lightning lane.
- 39:55SPEAKER_02: I'm like, you know what?
- 39:55SPEAKER_02: It's okay.
- 39:56SPEAKER_02: You guys go and enjoy that little like moment together, and I'll hang here.
- 40:01SPEAKER_02: And then afterwards, you just were like the the wizard of lightning lanes, and we had Indiana Jones.
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: Tell me more.
- 40:12SPEAKER_00: Oh, right, yes.
- 40:13SPEAKER_02: We did Indiana Jones, and then we did Big Thunder, right?
- 40:16SPEAKER_02: And then we did Storybook Landing, and then we did Space Mountain, Storybook Canal Boat.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: Sorry.
- 40:23SPEAKER_03: Storybook.
- 40:24SPEAKER_03: Very dare you.
- 40:25SPEAKER_00: We just wanted to get the terminology right as she begins her Disneyland journey.
- 40:30SPEAKER_02: I apologize.
- 40:31SPEAKER_00: Storybook landing sounds like someplace where fairy tale hookers hang in.
- 40:35SPEAKER_03: Whoa!
- 40:37SPEAKER_00: Storybook canal boats.
- 40:39SPEAKER_00: Well, that also seems questionable.
- 40:40SPEAKER_03: Well, yeah, it's not.
- 40:41SPEAKER_00: Not to mention you start by getting swallowed by a wave.
- 40:44SPEAKER_02: Wait, wait, but didn't it across the because I thought I picked, I grabbed that from the photo on the grass.
- 40:51SPEAKER_02: I thought it said storybook landing.
- 40:54SPEAKER_00: Maybe that's where you get in the boat.
- 40:56SPEAKER_02: That could be.
- 40:56SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying it's not.
- 40:58SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 40:58SPEAKER_00: I mean, I did say it's not.
- 40:59SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, well, maybe if she swings, she saw it.
- 41:02SPEAKER_02: There were no hookers.
- 41:05SPEAKER_00: That you know of.
- 41:07SPEAKER_00: Although there were lots of ducks that were like hanging out on the little island, like the Peter Pan Islands and the giant duck that was gonna take that gazebo out.
- 41:19SPEAKER_00: Anyway.
- 41:20SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 41:20SPEAKER_02: So, um, and then and then Space Mountain.
- 41:23SPEAKER_02: So, like we did a ton that we did in the in the short hours after.
- 41:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:30SPEAKER_02: So it was, and then again, we Because that's the other thing.
- 41:33SPEAKER_00: It's like did California Adventure closes at 10.
- 41:36SPEAKER_00: Yes, but Disneyland Park is usually open till midnight.
- 41:39SPEAKER_00: So you close Disney California Adventure, and as long as you have a park hopper, you've got two hours of prime time, especially if you're not trying to catch like the last phantasmic.
- 41:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so that was great.
- 41:51SPEAKER_02: That was great.
- 41:52SPEAKER_02: And then Thursday, so then we went back to our hotels and slept until like the sleep of Disney, which those nights were like seven-hour nights.
- 42:02SPEAKER_00: I felt bad for Jackie.
- 42:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I I still don't think it was that much, but yeah, yeah.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: If you're in Disney, you gotta do the yeah.
- 42:10SPEAKER_02: And so then Thursday morning, Thursday was D23 day.
- 42:14SPEAKER_00: D23 day at Disneyland.
- 42:16SPEAKER_00: Man, it was a sea of turquoise rats.
- 42:18SPEAKER_02: Yes, but Jackie Lucus descended on Disney.
- 42:22SPEAKER_00: So I got teal-colored locusts.
- 42:24SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 42:25SPEAKER_00: They were all teal-colored.
- 42:26SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 42:27SPEAKER_02: And then I got in a text saying, hey, we're running a little slow today.
- 42:33SPEAKER_02: Um we'll just meet you at Disneyland.
- 42:36SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 42:36SPEAKER_02: Go in and get your ears.
- 42:37SPEAKER_02: So you do not trust them.
- 42:39SPEAKER_02: And they were kind enough.
- 42:41SPEAKER_02: I mean, they had them.
- 42:42SPEAKER_00: Because they're free.
- 42:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 42:43SPEAKER_00: Disney's giving away free Mickey Mouse ears.
- 42:45SPEAKER_02: Free Mickey Mouse ears that say D-25.
- 42:47SPEAKER_00: Free is relative, I guess.
- 42:49SPEAKER_00: Although they were giving them to non-D20s.
- 42:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they were giving them to everyone.
- 42:52SPEAKER_02: So, yeah, anybody with a park, a park ticket, which is really, really cool.
- 42:56SPEAKER_00: Um you get some ears, and you get some tickets.
- 42:58SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 42:59SPEAKER_00: And you get some ears.
- 43:00SPEAKER_02: So, um, and they were kind enough to to let me go ahead and pick up the ears for all three of us in the party.
- 43:08SPEAKER_02: Um, so I didn't, you know, like get 45 and sell a money bay or anything.
- 43:13SPEAKER_02: I want that person.
- 43:14SPEAKER_02: I just got one for each of our party members.
- 43:17SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 43:18SPEAKER_02: But um, there were like I didn't want to get too far into the parks just because I didn't know for sure what time you guys were coming or anything like that.
- 43:27SPEAKER_02: Um, and there were a bunch, well, also as part of D23 Day, because we were D because we actually had D23 tickets, we got free photo pass photos that day.
- 43:39SPEAKER_02: So I I just went to every photo pass photographer I could find on Main Street and had photos taken.
- 43:46SPEAKER_02: And I got I got the and and again, those who know me know my obsession with Disney balloons.
- 43:52SPEAKER_02: Um, I actually got the one with the that's the um the magic shot with the Disney balloons, which is yeah, that's it's Pretty good.
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: It's pretty awesome.
- 44:01SPEAKER_02: Um, so then you guys, then you guys showed up and uh and we had an Alice in Wonderland uh lightning lane.
- 44:10SPEAKER_00: No, we just went because the line was short.
- 44:12SPEAKER_02: Oh, we just went on that one because the line was short.
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: Because it doesn't have a lightning lane.
- 44:15SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 44:15SPEAKER_00: But especially as a Disney World girl, you need to experience.
- 44:19SPEAKER_02: Oh, absolutely.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: And I've said it before, it's one of those attractions that Disney has really plused over the years so that it feels newish and relevant when they could have just let it deteriorate.
- 44:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 44:32SPEAKER_02: So and I I love I love a good Disney dark ride.
- 44:37SPEAKER_02: You know, put me in a boat or a car or whatever and tell me a story.
- 44:44SPEAKER_02: You know, I love those Disney dark rides.
- 44:47SPEAKER_02: You just get to kind of be part of the story for five, seven minutes or whatever it is.
- 44:52SPEAKER_02: And I just think those are amazing.
- 44:55SPEAKER_02: And, you know, all of the technology and all the things that you can do on like mission breakout or or you know, ride the resistance or whatever, loads of fun.
- 45:04SPEAKER_02: But at the heart of it, just give me a good dark ride and and tell me a story, you know?
- 45:10SPEAKER_02: That's just me though, but whatever.
- 45:12SPEAKER_02: Um, and then um that's Roger Rabbit.
- 45:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so that's my little TED talk, folks.
- 45:16SPEAKER_02: Um, and then um, yeah, and then Roger Rabbit again.
- 45:20SPEAKER_02: That whole two town toontown area is so much fun, so cute.
- 45:25SPEAKER_02: Um, and then Peter Pan and then Buzz Lightyear.
- 45:30SPEAKER_02: Um, and I have not experienced the new Buzz Lightyear yet at Florida.
- 45:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but I'm kind of hoping that that's more like you know, with the I know you can take the guns out and stuff, which I like I really like.
- 45:45SPEAKER_00: Now with removable guns.
- 45:47SPEAKER_00: Yes, that's yeah, yeah.
- 45:49SPEAKER_02: I I like I just liked it a lot more.
- 45:51SPEAKER_02: Um and then I got my first churro ever.
- 45:54SPEAKER_00: Yes, and Disneyland churros.
- 45:56SPEAKER_02: It it hit better.
- 45:58SPEAKER_02: It was delish.
- 45:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, fantastic.
- 46:00SPEAKER_00: Something probably about the humidity in Florida just makes it chewyer.
- 46:03SPEAKER_02: Just yeah, I'm sure it does.
- 46:05SPEAKER_02: All right, and then Mickey and Micke Minnie's Runaway Railway, which the ride itself is the same, but the cue is so different.
- 46:13SPEAKER_02: Um and it was absolutely darling, and it had all kinds of little paraphernalia and props and fun stuff like that.
- 46:20SPEAKER_00: That's the lesser-known darling child, absolutely.
- 46:23SPEAKER_00: Yes, absolutely darling.
- 46:24SPEAKER_00: They don't talk about her much.
- 46:26SPEAKER_00: They keep her locked in the attic for reasons we won't discuss here.
- 46:30SPEAKER_00: Uh wow.
- 46:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:32SPEAKER_02: Okay, and then Snow White, speaking of dark places.
- 46:36SPEAKER_02: Um, Snow White, and then um, and then we had the legends cavalcade.
- 46:42SPEAKER_02: So they had like Oh, right.
- 46:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:44SPEAKER_00: You threw that into our daily thing.
- 46:46SPEAKER_02: I did.
- 46:47SPEAKER_00: It's like, oh my god, Kimberly, yes, we'll go look at the legends.
- 46:50SPEAKER_00: We're gonna see them on Sunday, but yes, I try to make all your dreams come true.
- 46:55SPEAKER_02: Listen to listen to those.
- 46:58SPEAKER_00: It was very cool, and we saw other legends that like past legends.
- 47:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like Bob Gurr was on the on the on the float also, and and they um and and Jody Benson was on the I mean like there's just all kinds of, and then they also had because they had all kinds of special characters that day for D23 Day in the park.
- 47:19SPEAKER_02: The Blue Fairy Fairy and Merlin, but they did also have all of them in the parade.
- 47:25SPEAKER_02: So you could also see all of them kind of at one time, which was really nice.
- 47:28SPEAKER_02: So that was suck it.
- 47:30SPEAKER_02: That's a good idea.
- 47:31SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, somebody's going to Disneyland on their own next time.
- 47:36SPEAKER_00: No, she's not.
- 47:36SPEAKER_00: I'll always go back as long as she books through me.
- 47:40unknown: Oh my gosh.
- 47:41SPEAKER_02: And then we had to kind of book it because we had a um, we had a lightning lean for Tiana.
- 47:47SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 47:47SPEAKER_02: But on the way to Tiana, so the the Hatbox Ghost popcorn budget.
- 47:55SPEAKER_02: Oh, right.
- 47:56SPEAKER_00: This was another addition to and we tried to get you a mobile order and we couldn't.
- 48:02SPEAKER_00: And we're all gone because it was like, you know, nine in the morning.
- 48:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 48:05SPEAKER_02: So we were like, okay, well, I guess that's just out.
- 48:09SPEAKER_02: But we happened to be walking past a popcorn cart on our way to Tiana's, and they had them.
- 48:15SPEAKER_02: So I'm like, stop, we have to get these because like I wanted one, and my one of my daughters collects popcorn buckets, and the other daughter is obsessed with anything haunted mansion, and Tristan.
- 48:27SPEAKER_00: And I texted Tristan in line and he said he'd Venmo me, which he hasn't yet.
- 48:31SPEAKER_00: Hello, Tristan.
- 48:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I bet by now he has.
- 48:34SPEAKER_00: Probably better.
- 48:35SPEAKER_00: By the time this airs, he better Venmo.
- 48:37SPEAKER_02: Should we pause for like four seconds and see if it happens?
- 48:40SPEAKER_02: No, not gonna.
- 48:41SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 48:41SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 48:42SPEAKER_02: Um but so, so, and I thought because so like the other popcorn buckets, like the whole top comes off.
- 48:50SPEAKER_02: You can stack them, and then I figured I'd just put the lids somewhere else in my luggage.
- 48:55SPEAKER_02: These do not stack.
- 48:57SPEAKER_02: These lids do not come off.
- 48:59SPEAKER_00: Have you turned yours on yet?
- 49:00SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 49:00SPEAKER_00: Okay, good.
- 49:01SPEAKER_00: Because we did that.
- 49:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:03SPEAKER_02: Um, but so what I thought was gonna be it'll be fine.
- 49:07SPEAKER_02: I'll just stack these, and then I brought some like D clips to clip them onto my backpack.
- 49:13SPEAKER_00: Here if you don't have them, they sound like this.
- 49:15SPEAKER_00: That's an opening, and then just like that.
- 49:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:23SPEAKER_00: All right, lights up.
- 49:25SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 49:25SPEAKER_02: Oh, there we go.
- 49:27SPEAKER_02: And um, yeah.
- 49:28SPEAKER_02: So so I thought this is gonna be just fine.
- 49:32SPEAKER_02: Well, it was not just fine because these do not stack.
- 49:36SPEAKER_02: And so the three of us who are trying to carry these stupid popcorn buckets.
- 49:42SPEAKER_02: God, I love my daughters and God, we love you, Tristan.
- 49:44SPEAKER_00: You said it.
- 49:45SPEAKER_02: Um but so like the whole rest of the day, we're like carting around these freaking popcorn.
- 49:53SPEAKER_00: We looked like Disney tourists.
- 49:55SPEAKER_02: We did, we did, but uh it it's all good.
- 49:57SPEAKER_02: And then we had that we had lunch in the day.
- 49:59SPEAKER_00: We did, and Jackie opted out of Tiamat, which was probably the right choice because I had a very wet butt.
- 50:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, I I babysat the popcorn back.
- 50:08SPEAKER_00: She didn't guarded them from interlopers who might try to steal them.
- 50:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so um, yeah, that was a thing.
- 50:15SPEAKER_02: But um, and then we had that lovely, lovely late lunch at the Blue Bayou.
- 50:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 50:20SPEAKER_00: And how did you feel about experiencing the blue bayou?
- 50:23SPEAKER_02: It was wonderful, like it was delicious, the food was great.
- 50:27SPEAKER_00: Kimberly got the steak.
- 50:28SPEAKER_00: I did.
- 50:29SPEAKER_00: And you almost got the pre-fee.
- 50:31SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes, but decided not to.
- 50:34SPEAKER_02: And I'm really glad I didn't because I was I mean, I did order an appetizer for the table.
- 50:40SPEAKER_00: Which was so good.
- 50:41SPEAKER_00: Yes, it was that stuff was taste.
- 50:43SPEAKER_02: It was like a sh it was a cheesy grit.
- 50:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, cheesy grit with dipping bread.
- 50:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 50:50SPEAKER_00: So good.
- 50:51SPEAKER_02: Oh, it was amazing, absolutely amazing.
- 50:53SPEAKER_02: Oh, with like bacon, I think, in it.
- 50:55SPEAKER_00: Right, and then Jackie, Jackie got a salad, I got a soup, and we split a Monte Cristo.
- 51:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I got the steak because my body said, Hey, I think you should eat some protein.
- 51:06SPEAKER_00: Um, and thank we needed a meat jelly donut.
- 51:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, or protein being beignet.
- 51:12SPEAKER_02: Protein beignet.
- 51:13SPEAKER_02: Protein beignet was very tasty.
- 51:16SPEAKER_02: But no, that was absolutely delicious.
- 51:18SPEAKER_02: But I was so full by the end, I was really glad I didn't do the the prefix because I have no idea where I would have put any more food.
- 51:27SPEAKER_02: So, um, and then we're certainly not in your popcorn.
- 51:30SPEAKER_02: Not in my popcorn, the lid doesn't come off.
- 51:32SPEAKER_02: The lid does not come off.
- 51:33SPEAKER_02: Um, yes, so and then we were right there, and uh pirates uh pirates had been down when we went into lunch, but it had started back up.
- 51:42SPEAKER_02: And uh so we went and did pirates, of course, because we were right there, and then and then web slingers.
- 51:47SPEAKER_02: So we went back to the other other parking.
- 51:49SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 51:49SPEAKER_02: And went and that was loads and loads of fun.
- 51:52SPEAKER_02: And then we were trying to get our virtual cue slash slash.
- 51:59SPEAKER_00: That I did outside of Buzz Lightyear when I realized I realized going into Buzz Lightyear it was 11:45, and that the virtual queue went live at noon, and I was a little panicked that I wasn't gonna be outside.
- 52:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 52:12SPEAKER_00: So when you all started to dawdle in the store, that was fine.
- 52:15SPEAKER_00: I was just like, I've gotta get out to a web to a signal.
- 52:19SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 52:20SPEAKER_02: And lo and behold, lo and behold, we had our things for um, we had our things for uh for the princess concerts.
- 52:29SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 52:29SPEAKER_00: We were we were boarding group 30, which seemed, I mean, who knew how many people?
- 52:34SPEAKER_00: It was a little bit of consternation later in the day, with panic ensuing as we got called and had to rush, and I was there without you, but you had to be there and but it all worked out.
- 52:46SPEAKER_00: It all worked out.
- 52:47SPEAKER_00: We got in and we got we got our wristband that you could not remove under penalty of death.
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: Yes, it literally said that.
- 52:54SPEAKER_00: And right, and then because what did we do in between before we went to the princess concert?
- 52:59SPEAKER_02: Uh we went back to the hotel for some wine and a lot of Disney giggling for 30 minutes and medicine for about 30 minutes.
- 53:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and yeah, yeah, and then and then the princess concert, which was amazing.
- 53:12SPEAKER_00: It it really was.
- 53:13SPEAKER_03: I know you were a little sad, we were a little far back, but we could see all the princesses and yeah, and the fact that we got to go in when we thought we were gonna not make the cutoff was it was nice.
- 53:30SPEAKER_00: But that was really cool, and then after that, because we got the last one, which was like 10, 15, and then they started late.
- 53:38SPEAKER_00: Anyway, it was too late to bounce back to Disneyland, and it was time for the sleep of Disney.
- 53:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 53:42SPEAKER_02: Because the last one we had a very early morning the next morning.
- 53:46SPEAKER_00: The last thing we had at Disneyland Park as part of your trip was the walk in Waltz Footsteps tour.
- 53:51SPEAKER_02: I feel like you should be the one to talk about this.
- 53:56SPEAKER_00: Well, I it's just this has been missing for because Tristan and Savannah and and Harper took it.
- 54:02SPEAKER_00: Uh, you know, and Tristan talked about what a bucket of tears he was, but it went away for the 70th.
- 54:09SPEAKER_00: They replaced it with like a 70th anniversary thing that like took you on a train and it's like whoop-de-ding-dong.
- 54:16SPEAKER_00: Where's where's my apartment visit?
- 54:18SPEAKER_00: So when they announced this was coming back, and I realized it was the first day it was coming back was the Friday morning of D23.
- 54:28SPEAKER_00: And I said to you all, because we're going back in October for Oogie Boogie's Bash, I was like, I could maybe make this work in October, but how badly do you want to go?
- 54:37SPEAKER_00: And you were like, I want to go.
- 54:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 54:40SPEAKER_02: I'm like, this is a bucket list item.
- 54:42SPEAKER_00: And so we got there to the park.
- 54:44SPEAKER_02: Uh we added, we literally added a four-day.
- 54:48SPEAKER_00: You and Jackie had to add a I already had a four-day on mine.
- 54:52SPEAKER_00: But um, but yes, it was it was everything I well, and then it was more than I expected.
- 54:58SPEAKER_00: They truly had this was a new version.
- 55:00SPEAKER_00: They changed, they've changed it up, and our tour guide was like, I've done like five versions of this tour.
- 55:05SPEAKER_00: The new version starts by taking you over to California Adventure and talking about Walt coming to Hollywood and some of the influences over there.
- 55:13SPEAKER_00: Um, and then you go, and and originally, you know, all the publicity said this was like a two-hour tour.
- 55:19SPEAKER_00: Well, it ended up being like a three-hour tour and immensely worth every minute of it.
- 55:25SPEAKER_00: I would never have changed going on that.
- 55:27SPEAKER_00: No, and and they didn't even like keep us in suspense and hold the apartment till the end.
- 55:33SPEAKER_00: We got to go up there pretty early.
- 55:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 55:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, after we got back from California Adventure.
- 55:40SPEAKER_00: And if you're a true Disney fan, it means a lot.
- 55:44SPEAKER_00: It does to go up there and be in the room that was Walt's private place, you know, when he was in the park and Lillian and and you know, seeing I I touched his waffle maker, which sounds dirty when you say it out loud.
- 56:00SPEAKER_03: I don't know that you're supposed to do that.
- 56:01SPEAKER_00: Oh, I know, which is why I was surreptitious.
- 56:04SPEAKER_00: I was just like, because it's on the counter.
- 56:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was like, if he made waffles on this, I'll just maybe there's still some DNA.
- 56:11SPEAKER_00: And if not, there's now my DNA.
- 56:14SPEAKER_03: So they can well apparently he also would just open a can of chili and sit it on there, and that's how he's gonna do it.
- 56:19SPEAKER_03: Right, yeah.
- 56:20SPEAKER_00: So so I was all about it.
- 56:22SPEAKER_00: And I mean, original things to the room, and and you know, just to get our picture taken, because you can't take any pictures yourself, but the guide will use your camera to take your picture in the spot that is authorized, and which is amazing.
- 56:38SPEAKER_00: It was awesome.
- 56:39SPEAKER_00: And then, I mean, any other feelings about Walt's apartment?
- 56:43SPEAKER_00: I was just glad that I got to see you experience.
- 56:49SPEAKER_00: Cry.
- 56:50SPEAKER_03: Well, I can see you cry any day.
- 56:52SPEAKER_00: Well, that's true.
- 56:52SPEAKER_00: It's not it's not at all special.
- 56:55SPEAKER_00: I cry at the drop of a hat.
- 56:56SPEAKER_02: But it's but again, it was just that feeling of gratitude.
- 57:02SPEAKER_02: You know, that gratitude, that that thank you for doing this.
- 57:07SPEAKER_02: Thank you for risking everything.
- 57:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 57:10SPEAKER_03: And it seemed like everybody else that was on the tour with us also were very much devotees.
- 57:17SPEAKER_03: So right.
- 57:18SPEAKER_00: It's like how much did you have to believe in this to risk everything that you risked and people telling you it was crazy to give us something that brings so much joy to so many people?
- 57:31SPEAKER_00: And it yeah, that was great.
- 57:33SPEAKER_00: And then after that, they took us around and we did other stuff.
- 57:35SPEAKER_00: We rode the train.
- 57:38SPEAKER_02: Which they gave us beignets.
- 57:39SPEAKER_00: They gave they gave us each a box of three beignets to eat while we were doing that.
- 57:45SPEAKER_00: Uh, we and we ended at small world.
- 57:48SPEAKER_02: We got uh we went on jungle cruise.
- 57:51SPEAKER_00: Oh, right.
- 57:51SPEAKER_00: We went on jungle cruise.
- 57:52SPEAKER_02: And then and then they gave us the beignets and we did the train and then um and then we ended at small world.
- 57:58SPEAKER_00: Which they took us on if you wanted to stick around.
- 58:01SPEAKER_02: She she took us in the exit and then and then you also got a lightning lane to use.
- 58:08SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 58:08SPEAKER_00: They added a lightning lane to our ticket.
- 58:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 58:10SPEAKER_02: That we could use.
- 58:11SPEAKER_02: You could use for any.
- 58:12SPEAKER_02: Which we used for the Matter horn.
- 58:14SPEAKER_02: The Matterhorn.
- 58:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 58:15SPEAKER_03: Because it was it was our last it was our last Disneyland ride, and that was that was the the one that was the um Yeah, that was the and that worked out good too, because wasn't it down and we went and ran around a little bit and came back and then it was back again?
- 58:32SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 58:32SPEAKER_00: Oh and we got to go sit in.
- 58:34SPEAKER_00: Well, I was dealing with a client crisis.
- 58:36SPEAKER_00: Not me.
- 58:37SPEAKER_00: No, not you.
- 58:39SPEAKER_00: But I was dealing with some stuff, and we went into the D23 lounge, which has been relocated.
- 58:45SPEAKER_00: Currently, it it's it's in the Starcane, basically.
- 58:49SPEAKER_00: But whereas on Wednesday, Wednesday it was nuts, Thursday it was bonkers because of D23, and Friday we could have had cots rolled in and slept.
- 59:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was so and they were like, come on in, you know, you can go mobile order food and bring it back.
- 59:09SPEAKER_00: And so yeah.
- 59:11SPEAKER_02: So we sat in the air conditioning and had a lovely lunch while Sean worked with his clients.
- 59:18SPEAKER_00: Well I tried to problem solve for somebody that was traveling.
- 59:21SPEAKER_02: It was great.
- 59:22SPEAKER_02: And then right before we headed over to D23.
- 59:25SPEAKER_02: So yeah, it was magical.
- 59:27SPEAKER_02: Thank you again for suggesting this.
- 59:30SPEAKER_02: Thank you for inviting me.
- 59:32SPEAKER_02: Thank you for having me.
- 59:32SPEAKER_00: I hope you have inspired yet another person out there to go, probably Tia, who's probably she's been to Disneyland.
- 59:38SPEAKER_02: She's been to Disneyland before.
- 59:40SPEAKER_00: But now she's gonna want to take the tour.
- 59:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she because that was special.
- 59:44SPEAKER_00: Anyway, let me know when you're going, Tia.
- 59:46SPEAKER_00: I'll make the trip that you have on the Disneyland portion of our trip.
- 59:50SPEAKER_03: They also gave us pins and postcards.
- 59:52SPEAKER_03: Oh, yes, they did.
- 59:54SPEAKER_00: They did on for the yeah, it's a really cool pin of the lamp in the window.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_00: It's yeah.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, as Tristan would say, no notes.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_02: No, it was it was it was beyond my expectation.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_02: It really truly was.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_02: It was so much, and I loved it.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_00: Well, as I say, I hope you've inspired some other listeners, audio visitors out there who have maybe been on the fence about going to Disneyland.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_00: You won't regret it, and I would be happy to help you plan it.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_02: Oh, wait, and Sean, if somebody would like to go to Disneyland, how would they go about doing that?
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_00: Well, you can find a link through the Of Mice and Main Street Men website or just email me, Sean at Briarandmain.com.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_00: Um, because yeah, especially at Disneyland, there are so many good neighbor hotels that are easy walking distance and are a little more budget friendly that, you know, Disneyland packages just offer a lot more options, I feel like, than Florida.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_00: But Florida's a good place too.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_00: So uh if you want to head there, let me know.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_00: But most of all, thank you, Kimberly, for sharing this episode with us and talking about your first Disneyland trip.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_00: Thank you, as always, to my lovely wife Jackie, who is who is the prettier co-host that I have uh outside of Tristan.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_00: Um I mean, all things considered, you're prettier.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_00: I hate to say it, Tristan, but it's true.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_00: I think you admit it.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_00: Anyway, uh thank you all so much for listening.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_00: We truly, we truly appreciate it.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_00: And as we stay around here, by you three and we will see you.
