Transcript
- This is the New Realm Compliance Brief, Volume One, Edition Thirty-Seven, for Sunday, September Twentieth. A quiet weekend for federal action, so today's edition is leaner and state-focused. Our top story: craft brewers are pressing the Ohio Senate to overhaul the state's fifty-year-old beer franchise law. Senate Bill Twenty-Three, reintroduced in January by Senator Andrew Brenner, would exclude many smaller breweries from the law's strict franchise requirements and ease the automatic renewal provisions that bind them to a distributor. The Ohio Craft Brewers Association said hundreds of small breweries are disadvantaged against much larger distributors, and founders of three closed breweries testified in favor. The state's wholesaler association said the bill would let brewers walk away from a contract without consequence. The bill has stalled in committee. Around the states: New York is moving delinquent cannabis retailers to cash on delivery terms. About eighty-seven licensed retailers owe forty-four suppliers a combined three point nine million dollars, on average two hundred eighty-one days past the state's thirty day payment deadline. And Missouri regulators recalled a line of infused pre-rolls on Friday after state testing found aspergillus mold — the state's second cannabis recall this month. On the radar: On Tuesday, September twenty-second, Alaska's Marijuana Control Board meets to consider removing daily purchase limits and other rule changes. On Thursday, September twenty-fourth, the Michigan company behind the Muha Meds line must cease operations under last week's license revocation. On September twenty-ninth, the executive order barring imports of Canadian beer, wine and spirits takes effect. And December eleventh remains the effective date for the federal ban on consumable hemp products above zero point four milligrams of THC per container.
