- 0:41Speaker 1: weekly I don't think I edited in today's episode.
- 0:47Speaker 2: We've been busy, you guys, if you haven't noticed, this
- 0:50Speaker 2: episode's out late, and just you know, things are falling
- 0:54Speaker 2: apart over here.
- 0:55Speaker 1: But we'll go up today. Weekly episodes from us. They
- 0:58Speaker 1: are a good time and just as unhinged as you
- 1:01Speaker 1: might expect them to be.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Hey, we will be recording our weekly The Way Home
- 1:07Speaker 2: mail Bag episode. We love your emails. Please email us
- 1:12Speaker 2: hello at Girls Gone, Hallmark dot com. What's our cutoff?
- 1:16Speaker 2: It's usually like Wednesday, sometimes Thursday.
- 1:20Speaker 1: This week we're recording on Thursday, so you need to
- 1:22Speaker 1: get your emails and voicemails in by Wednesday if you'd
- 1:25Speaker 1: like to be included.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm dying to hear what people have to say.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Yeah, last week we recorded a little earlier, so some
- 1:32Speaker 1: emails did come in after, but I still scan them
- 1:35Speaker 1: to see if there's something we need to grab and
- 1:37Speaker 1: toss it. Fabulous, All right, why don't we kick this
- 1:41Speaker 1: discussion off with a synopsis?
- 1:44Speaker 2: Some questions are answered for Elliott and Kat while others linger. Meanwhile,
- 1:50Speaker 2: in the present, new choices arise for Alice as she
- 1:53Speaker 2: evaluates her future.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Hey, Wendy, what was your first impression of this episode
- 1:58Speaker 1: of The Way Home?
- 1:59Speaker 2: We'll get ready with your bleeper. Oh oh, I'm going
- 2:03Speaker 2: to go to my text that I sent you after
- 2:05Speaker 2: I watched this last night, and it read, what in
- 2:08Speaker 2: the was this episode? I'm annoyed.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Well, people aren't gonna like my first impression either, and
- 2:17Speaker 1: it's there's a big part of this that I hate.
- 2:20Speaker 2: A whole lot I want. I can't wait to talk
- 2:22Speaker 2: about it with you that I know what you're referring to. Yeah,
- 2:25Speaker 2: so I'm interested in learning more and deep diving into
- 2:30Speaker 2: why you hate this part of the story.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Okay, well this is something I don't hate. Let's talk
- 2:35Speaker 1: Dell and Sam. Okay, the reality of Dell and Sam
- 2:39Speaker 1: after this episode is all as well. With them, they're
- 2:43Speaker 1: like two little kids in love. Dell remembers telling Sam
- 2:48Speaker 1: that she loves him after her fall. You know, I
- 2:51Speaker 1: truly don't remember. I'm not sure that they showed us.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Why wouldn't they show us.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I don't know they showed us in this episode, but
- 2:59Speaker 1: I don't remember that happening when he picked her up either,
- 3:02Speaker 1: me neither. But Sam commits to re earning Dell's love,
- 3:10Speaker 1: and this all comes about because of some flashback and
- 3:13Speaker 1: some current scenes with Sam and Casey that we'll get
- 3:16Speaker 1: to in a little bit, but just talking about the
- 3:19Speaker 1: Dell and Sam of it all, He plans a Q
- 3:22Speaker 1: outdoor movie night for.
- 3:23Speaker 2: The two of them.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I'd like to talk about a couple little did you
- 3:26Speaker 1: see that? So I pulled from our Dell and our
- 3:28Speaker 1: Sam scene?
- 3:28Speaker 2: Nice? Nice, nice, First.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It's August or July, we're not sure it's summer before
- 3:34Speaker 1: these kids are supposed to leave for college. And Dell
- 3:37Speaker 1: is bundled up like it's November. Is it cold in
- 3:39Speaker 1: New Brunswick in August or was it just cold in
- 3:43Speaker 1: actual fall when they were filming this?
- 3:45Speaker 3: Right?
- 3:45Speaker 2: Okay, that is so funny you say that because I
- 3:47Speaker 2: have a scene later that has to do with weather.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Oh but the weather they're wearing. And I'm like, what,
- 3:54Speaker 2: But that's a good question because we know that Cat
- 3:56Speaker 2: is supposed to be taking Alice to school, right, so
- 3:59Speaker 2: that could be somewhere mid August. Why is Dell wearing
- 4:03Speaker 2: a jacket and a scarf? Right?
- 4:05Speaker 1: I mean it's August, Tier is miserable, but perhaps winter
- 4:09Speaker 1: comes earlier the farther.
- 4:11Speaker 2: North, you go. You know, geography is not our strong suit, guys,
- 4:17Speaker 2: neither is weather. So what, Yes, summer here in southern
- 4:22Speaker 2: California is like August, September, October. Well, you know, like
- 4:26Speaker 2: north of here in San Francisco, it's like cold all
- 4:29Speaker 2: the time, right, yeah, sure, no, I understand. So maybe
- 4:33Speaker 2: on the east coast in New Brunswick.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Look, we're going to Oregon next month, and I was
- 4:38Speaker 1: not next month in a couple of weeks and I
- 4:40Speaker 1: was looking at the weather. It's in the forties and fifties. Right, Oh,
- 4:42Speaker 1: got like love it, I know, I'm so excited. So
- 4:46Speaker 1: and it's June, so anything can happen. I just noticed that.
- 4:51Speaker 1: And my other digitsy that is the outdoor movie night
- 4:53Speaker 1: that Sam plans for Dell. They're watching Some Like It Hot.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Now.
- 4:57Speaker 1: They have not referenced Some Like at Hot directly in
- 5:00Speaker 1: this series. However, when Nick and Kat travels to nineteen
- 5:04Speaker 1: twenty five, he uses the name Spats and he says,
- 5:08Speaker 1: I heard it in the movie once, which led me
- 5:10Speaker 1: to google the movie. And as we discussed in that episode,
- 5:14Speaker 1: Spats is the name of a bootlegger who runs a speakeasy.
- 5:18Speaker 1: So is there a connection somehow between Sam and Nick?
- 5:25Speaker 1: Is this just a fun little easter egg for the
- 5:28Speaker 1: writers to drop in for us? Sam says something like, Oh,
- 5:32Speaker 1: we're working our way through the some list the class
- 5:35Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Yeah, he did like some like top ten lists or something. Yeah,
- 5:41Speaker 2: he made a reference to some sort of list.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Yeah, film, butser screaming at us, but I know, yeah,
- 5:46Speaker 1: so he that's his reason for choosing this movie.
- 5:49Speaker 2: It was next.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Essentially, the end result is all is well with these two.
- 5:55Speaker 1: They're back on course. And how does this make you feel?
- 5:58Speaker 1: Are you happy about it? I'm fine with that. Fine,
- 6:02Speaker 1: I'm fine with it too.
- 6:04Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, whatever, Like I want Dell to be happy. Yes,
- 6:08Speaker 2: I want Dell to be happy too. I'm not going
- 6:10Speaker 2: to even pretend what it would feel like to lose
- 6:14Speaker 2: my spouse, right, Sure. I think it's great that Dell's
- 6:18Speaker 2: gonna move on. However, I have a lot of you know,
- 6:22Speaker 2: suspicions about Sam, so I don't. I don't think this
- 6:25Speaker 2: is just your normal relationships, you know. So we'll see,
- 6:30Speaker 2: we'll see. But great, good for Della and Sam. I'm
- 6:33Speaker 2: finally happy. I'm happy she finally like came around. Yeah. Well,
- 6:38Speaker 2: it's a little bit of both.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Let's let's I know my notes aren't on this order,
- 6:41Speaker 1: but I think we should talk about Sam and Casey
- 6:43Speaker 1: so we can tie this all together, Okay. In my notes,
- 6:47Speaker 1: I said this is simultaneously the most interesting part of
- 6:50Speaker 1: the episode and the most frustrating, because when Casey shows up,
- 6:56Speaker 1: Sam is playing chess in the park in the past,
- 7:00Speaker 1: asked the recent past the first time he's twenty twenty four,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I think it said, oh did it? I didn't didn't
- 7:06Speaker 1: even clock that. And this appears to be Sam and
- 7:09Speaker 1: Casey's initial meeting. Casey knows a lot about Sam. Casey's
- 7:13Speaker 1: not subtle. Casey's like, I come from a time when
- 7:16Speaker 1: we know each other very well. I mean, Casey's just like,
- 7:18Speaker 1: I'm a time traveler. Here's the deal. We need to
- 7:21Speaker 1: move this along. I need your help, I need an attorney.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Sam takes this all pretty much in stride, doesn't question
- 7:29Speaker 1: one thing. Like his biggest takeaway is like, oh, Dylla
- 7:33Speaker 1: and I are still together in the future. That's great news.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Not what the hell do you mean you're a time traveler?
- 7:39Speaker 1: Where's your delirium? Like, just doesn't even question that element
- 7:43Speaker 1: of it.
- 7:44Speaker 2: But what not even like a reaction on the face. Oh,
- 7:48Speaker 2: because Sam is some sort of time traveler too. I'm
- 7:53Speaker 2: can Why was Sam's picture at the freaking circus right
- 7:58Speaker 2: right right? Can I just stop you? Whoever is styling
- 8:02Speaker 2: the character of Casey is so freaking cool because Casey's
- 8:07Speaker 2: clothes are on point. I agree, love it.
- 8:12Speaker 1: One of the big takeaways Casey discusses needing a lawyer.
- 8:15Speaker 1: She wants to know if an old document would still
- 8:18Speaker 1: hold up in court. Obviously, I assume this is Susanna's
- 8:20Speaker 1: will that Casey is discussing and asking about. But they
- 8:23Speaker 1: don't really get into that in this scene, and I'm
- 8:26Speaker 1: not even sure that they need to. It's just Sam
- 8:29Speaker 1: helped authenticate that.
- 8:31Speaker 2: It seems like right.
- 8:33Speaker 1: But the other thing is we get two chess table
- 8:37Speaker 1: meetings of Sam and Casey, one in twenty twenty four,
- 8:41Speaker 1: one in present day, and then present day. Sam's forlorn
- 8:44Speaker 1: because he's losing Dell, and Casey's like, yeah, this is
- 8:48Speaker 1: why I shouldn't tell.
- 8:49Speaker 2: You your future.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Because the line is I may have told you your future,
- 8:52Speaker 1: but that doesn't mean you have to stop trying to
- 8:53Speaker 1: earn it.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I know what your question is going to be. Okay,
- 8:58Speaker 2: you wonder the viewer's impression is that Sam stopped trying
- 9:04Speaker 2: to earn Dell's love or whatever. U huh. I never
- 9:08Speaker 2: really caught wind of that, and never he always looked
- 9:11Speaker 2: interested in her, Like it didn't look like he ever
- 9:13Speaker 2: stopped trying.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Yeah, so I feel like we were told, not shown,
- 9:21Speaker 1: because I agree with you. I didn't see Sam behaving
- 9:25Speaker 1: that way. I didn't see Sam taking Dell for granted. Now,
- 9:29Speaker 1: did he bring her flowers every single time they got together? No,
- 9:31Speaker 1: he didn't. That's not the realistic way a relationship progresses.
- 9:35Speaker 1: But he showed up for her. He was around, he
- 9:39Speaker 1: was interested in her, he was spending time with her.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I feel like they're trying to make us believe something
- 9:44Speaker 1: that wasn't really.
- 9:45Speaker 2: There, or that they didn't do a good job of
- 9:48Speaker 2: showing us.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Now they told us through Dell yelling at Sam, saying,
- 9:53Speaker 1: you're taking me for granted, right, But I didn't see
- 9:56Speaker 1: that happening.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Yes, you are correct about that. I feel like more
- 10:01Speaker 2: on the opposite side, we got Dell and all these
- 10:04Speaker 2: like flashback memories that she was dealing with, questioning her future,
- 10:10Speaker 2: like she if she wanted to stay still kind of
- 10:14Speaker 2: not with Colton, but like yeah, in love with his memory,
- 10:17Speaker 2: yes exactly, or moving forward, and how she would fit
- 10:21Speaker 2: into the future of Sam's life and or Julian's life
- 10:26Speaker 2: or whatever. That's that's where I thought we were getting,
- 10:29Speaker 2: like the most resistance from was Dell.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I thought so too, And I also thought it was
- 10:34Speaker 1: also a convenient way for Dell to cover up the
- 10:37Speaker 1: fact that she started to have temporary feelings for Julian
- 10:40Speaker 1: and she, while in a relationship with Sam, was entertaining
- 10:44Speaker 1: this flirtation.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Hmm. Interesting.
- 10:47Speaker 1: So nevertheless, this is what spurs Sam to take action
- 10:53Speaker 1: and let Dell know by showing he's all in, He's
- 10:57Speaker 1: Luke danzing it. Yes, I love that. But the reason
- 11:02Speaker 1: this is so frustrating to me, I'm trying to enjoy
- 11:06Speaker 1: the ride. I'm struggling to enjoy the ride. I think
- 11:09Speaker 1: we have I think we have too many secrets. I
- 11:12Speaker 1: think we have too many unsolved mysteries. It's a frustrating
- 11:16Speaker 1: watch because the answers are doled out in tiny, little
- 11:21Speaker 1: baby bird medicine dropper fulls that I'm just begging for more,
- 11:28Speaker 1: like please suh, Like can I have a scrap of
- 11:31Speaker 1: information please.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Like concrete information? Yes, stop giving these lines in riddles.
- 11:39Speaker 2: As a viewer, it's very frustrating to watch. That's why
- 11:43Speaker 2: I turned this episode off. I was like, I'm over it.
- 11:46Speaker 2: I'm like, let's wrap it up.
- 11:50Speaker 1: It finally happened, folks, It finally happened.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Well. And then we have this whole thing too with
- 11:57Speaker 2: Sam and Casey playing chess. Here like the bishop move
- 12:01Speaker 2: blah blah blah blah blah, all this sense. In the
- 12:04Speaker 2: last scene in twenty twenty four, Casey sitting at the
- 12:08Speaker 2: chess tables. They are holding the Bishop. The next scene
- 12:12Speaker 2: jumps to present day and they show the chess board
- 12:16Speaker 2: and the bishop piece has been replaced. It's like an off,
- 12:19Speaker 2: like it's a different Oh nice catch, So that's the
- 12:22Speaker 2: piece that's eventually in like Evelyn's Attic Attic or whatever. Obviously,
- 12:30Speaker 2: but but so we don't have any context, like we
- 12:34Speaker 2: have no explanation. Why why, why why do they do this.
- 12:41Speaker 2: I'm I'm kind of, like you said, trying to enjoy
- 12:45Speaker 2: the ride as well, but finding myself very frustrated.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Yes, And even at the end of Back to the
- 12:52Speaker 1: Dell and Sam resolution scene with their outdoor movie night,
- 12:56Speaker 1: Casey shows up and Sam spots them and goes to
- 12:59Speaker 1: talk to k and Sam's like, I want to tell
- 13:02Speaker 1: Dell everything, and Casey simply says, be careful how much
- 13:09Speaker 1: you share. And Sam's like, I'm surprised you're being that
- 13:13Speaker 1: free with the information. And Casey says that time is
- 13:17Speaker 1: coming to an end, basically the time of keeping all
- 13:20Speaker 1: of these secrets.
- 13:21Speaker 2: But come to an end faster, please. You got three
- 13:26Speaker 2: episodes left.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Gosh, I know it's a lot, but you know, as
- 13:33Speaker 1: soon as you see Sam with the chess board, it's like,
- 13:37Speaker 1: get out my clown makeup, Like, let's just get ready
- 13:39Speaker 1: with me.
- 13:42Speaker 2: To it's a oh the Bishop's opening, but you know that? Yeah, yeah,
- 13:49Speaker 2: exactly exactly. All right, where do you want to move
- 13:52Speaker 2: to next?
- 13:52Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about n eighteen twenty five with
- 13:56Speaker 1: Fern and Tessa and Elliott and Kat.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Let me tell you. I have so many thoughts. But
- 14:04Speaker 2: first of all, I was watching this on Friendly last night.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Oh yes, because I whited the hullabaloo on Friendly line well,
- 14:12Speaker 1: and I was one of those affected. I couldn't watch
- 14:15Speaker 1: it live.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I watched it much later, and Friendly recorded it and
- 14:20Speaker 2: for like three good minutes at the beginning in nineteenth.
- 14:24Speaker 2: In the nineteen twenty five era, they had some technical difficulties,
- 14:29Speaker 2: so I'm like, I just miss a big chunk. I
- 14:32Speaker 2: come up, like it starts again, like we're Fern and
- 14:37Speaker 2: Kat are talking on the porch. So I logged on
- 14:40Speaker 2: this morning on Hallmark Plus and watched that section. But
- 14:44Speaker 2: what the frick Friendly? Like, what did they do? What happened? Yeah,
- 14:49Speaker 2: that's bizarre. I don't know.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I caught it on Facebook this morning. People were talking
- 14:53Speaker 1: about like the great Friendly outage of twenty six.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a conspiracy. What does it mean? Yep? Yep, yep, okay,
- 15:02Speaker 2: So nineteen twenty five, I want to.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Start outside of the plot. We see on the farmhouse
- 15:10Speaker 1: table in Landry Farm, which I find it very interesting
- 15:15Speaker 1: that none of them live here and yet they're sitting
- 15:17Speaker 1: at this farmhouse table.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Oh, you're right, because Cliff is an actual board yes, now,
- 15:22Speaker 2: like this is not Fern's home.
- 15:25Speaker 1: No, So Elliot's glasses are sitting on this table and
- 15:29Speaker 1: they are broken because he's been whacked over the head
- 15:34Speaker 1: by his great grandfather. Cut to the Lingermore tunnels. This
- 15:39Speaker 1: is in my head, I'm cutting to the Lingermore So
- 15:41Speaker 1: I was like.
- 15:41Speaker 2: I don't did that know? And are during my Black
- 15:44Speaker 2: House and.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Our listener mail bag when a listener emailed in and said, hey,
- 15:50Speaker 1: I think those glasses they found were Elliott's. Cut to
- 15:53Speaker 1: another listener mailbag that we did not read, but we
- 15:58Speaker 1: had a submission come in after we had already recorded
- 16:01Speaker 1: the episode, and someone said, those couldn't be Elliott's glasses
- 16:04Speaker 1: because there they.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Don't look the same.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Again, they don't look the same because Elliott's glasses broke
- 16:11Speaker 1: and he somehow procured some old timey look and glasses
- 16:15Speaker 1: during his time in the past. Because we know that
- 16:17Speaker 1: Elliott does not come back immediately.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Maybe he sole clips I clothes, poor Cliffs, Like, where's
- 16:25Speaker 2: all my stuff disappearing? Too?
- 16:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't have that many clothes. It's not like
- 16:30Speaker 1: there's a target down the streets.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Hand Away can go over to Linz Crafter made.
- 16:39Speaker 1: So that's the first thing I wanted to talk about.
- 16:43Speaker 1: There are a few different combos. Let's talk Tessa and Elliott. Dude,
- 16:49Speaker 1: Tessa dressed up like the.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Boss, Like, what is happening?
- 16:56Speaker 1: Such a big shift from young adult Tessa even like
- 17:02Speaker 1: even Tessa the fortune teller.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Oh right, why are you wearing a mob outfit? Now?
- 17:09Speaker 2: Like I and this is she's dropped on my Oh.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Capone's not gonna be hoppy about this. I hate everything.
- 17:15Speaker 2: I know you hate another storyline. I hate this storyline?
- 17:18Speaker 1: Do you?
- 17:19Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, I just feel unleashed straight now. Sorry,
- 17:24Speaker 2: we're all the big fans of the show, and we
- 17:27Speaker 2: were there too. I still like it, so do I,
- 17:31Speaker 2: But I feel like this was the episode. They're like, Okay,
- 17:33Speaker 2: well we got word that we're not coming back, so
- 17:37Speaker 2: big middle fingers to y'all, let's light it on fire.
- 17:42Speaker 2: But I was why is she wearing a mob outfit.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Import an I don't look. Tessa is stone cold to
- 17:52Speaker 1: Elliott and a cat. She's like, you guys ruined everything.
- 17:56Speaker 1: That is her entire message. And Elliott rightfully is like, yo,
- 18:01Speaker 1: do you want to give me a morsel of information
- 18:04Speaker 1: about why you left me and my father behind in
- 18:08Speaker 1: my infancy? And she's like, it was the best choice
- 18:11Speaker 1: I had available to me, and not even with a
- 18:15Speaker 1: like tiny bit of warmth, like if you only could
- 18:18Speaker 1: understand why I had to make those choices right, just
- 18:21Speaker 1: straight out like, no, I do not care to entertain
- 18:26Speaker 1: this topic of conversation because I got bigger fish to fry.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Eh did you want it in there? I? Oh god,
- 18:37Speaker 1: this is not the reunification that our poor Elliot was
- 18:41Speaker 1: hoping for.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Here's my other question, too, is Tessa asks Elliott like
- 18:46Speaker 2: she asks about Griffin, like yes, what do you know
- 18:49Speaker 2: what happened to Griffin? Or and he goes, don't you
- 18:53Speaker 2: want to know what happened to Vick? Which is a
- 18:55Speaker 2: good question, it is, but what what did happen to Griffin?
- 18:59Speaker 2: You know what? This is one of my biggest problems
- 19:01Speaker 2: is we still don't know why Tessa and Griffin travel
- 19:04Speaker 2: together and it's still being mentioned, and like, I need
- 19:09Speaker 2: to know why why did they travel together? Did he
- 19:12Speaker 2: like want to run off with her? Was she? Were
- 19:15Speaker 2: they in love? What? Right? We don't know?
- 19:18Speaker 1: And the other answer to your question, we don't really
- 19:21Speaker 1: know what happened to Griffin. There was a comment I
- 19:23Speaker 1: believe from Fern where for instead something like, you know,
- 19:27Speaker 1: Griffin would pop in like visit every now and then,
- 19:30Speaker 1: but we don't have details about what he was doing
- 19:33Speaker 1: in between, right, Yeah, we don't know much about Griffin.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Griffin's going to be the freaking key to all of
- 19:39Speaker 2: this and he's not even like a major player, you know.
- 19:43Speaker 2: That's what I feel like is coming. Like, that's how
- 19:45Speaker 2: they're going to wrap it all up. Let's just put
- 19:47Speaker 2: it on Griffin.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Also, in this time period, we have Kat and Fern
- 19:52Speaker 1: actually like this part they find each other. I think
- 19:57Speaker 1: this this show is so much more about the relationships
- 20:02Speaker 1: between women, both as friends and family than about any
- 20:07Speaker 1: romantic relationship that exists in this universe. I think I
- 20:12Speaker 1: think those relationships are so much stronger. So Kat and
- 20:15Speaker 1: Fern connect as friends and as family, and they have
- 20:20Speaker 1: similar life experiences, both having lost a parent and lost
- 20:24Speaker 1: a brother, although under different circumstances, and we'll see that
- 20:29Speaker 1: play out again a little bit in the future. But this,
- 20:31Speaker 1: this is nice for me for Kat. This is the
- 20:34Speaker 1: kind of the first connection that Kat has made in
- 20:36Speaker 1: the past. Oh that's not she connected with her dad.
- 20:40Speaker 1: But Alice has made some really strong connections in the past.
- 20:44Speaker 1: And Kat has been a messmaker, yes she's been, she's
- 20:49Speaker 1: been time traveling as a task master, yeah, whereas Alice
- 20:57Speaker 1: has been more a relationship developed or totally.
- 21:01Speaker 2: So I liked this. I gotta say. I liked that moment.
- 21:04Speaker 2: I agree, And it softened Fern a little bit for
- 21:07Speaker 2: me because I was kind of suspicious of young Fern,
- 21:11Speaker 2: like she knows information, but she's not telling information, and uh,
- 21:15Speaker 2: is she good? Is she bad? Whatever? I thought this
- 21:18Speaker 2: interaction between Kat and young Fern really softened Fern. Yeah,
- 21:23Speaker 2: I agree.
- 21:23Speaker 1: And Kat says, you know, you don't have to marry Grayson,
- 21:26Speaker 1: and we know that Fern doesn't, but Fern doesn't know
- 21:30Speaker 1: that yet. And for instance, I just need a fellaw
- 21:34Speaker 1: to rely on. And it just suggests that life has
- 21:36Speaker 1: been harder for Fern than she would like to let on.
- 21:39Speaker 1: And I think Fern knows that independence for women in
- 21:44Speaker 1: nineteen twenty five, you know, she unfortunately kind of does
- 21:48Speaker 1: need a man for certain things.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Now do we think Fern and Cliff ended up being together?
- 21:53Speaker 2: Mm hmm that's what you believe, Mm hmm. They get married.
- 21:57Speaker 2: What's Cliff's last name, Cain. Yeah.
- 22:01Speaker 1: My belief is that Fern's son is Cliff Kane's son,
- 22:06Speaker 1: h okay, and that's Colton's dad, Fern's son. Yes, Cliff
- 22:12Speaker 1: does show up in this time period and he's questioning
- 22:15Speaker 1: Fern about what's going on. But then they like yell
- 22:18Speaker 1: back and forth, and Fern says, why are you so twisted?
- 22:20Speaker 1: And it's about my welfare because he's so worried about
- 22:23Speaker 1: her being with Grayson And there it's like a passionate
- 22:25Speaker 1: yelling and then they kiss.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Shucker, I hated all of this.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Oh, I thought it was pretty obvious right now, felt
- 22:32Speaker 1: like someone was cause playing like.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Yes, yes exactly. That's why I hated it, Yes exactly.
- 22:40Speaker 1: This time period ends with Cat finding Elliott at the pond.
- 22:45Speaker 1: She wants to go home and Elliott is like, I
- 22:47Speaker 1: need answers. They go to jump and Elliott I think
- 22:52Speaker 1: this is real shitty of Elliott. Elliott lets go of
- 22:56Speaker 1: her hand and he says, Cat, wait, yeah, as if
- 23:00Speaker 1: imply that she left him behind, as opposed to he
- 23:05Speaker 1: intentionally stayed right now, Kat of course is going to
- 23:11Speaker 1: be spinning out trying to get him back.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Totally totally. Yeah, I think that was real shitty of Elliott. Yeah,
- 23:18Speaker 2: because Kat's going to be like in the future present day,
- 23:21Speaker 2: like worried about him his safety, obviously trying to get
- 23:26Speaker 2: him back. Now now now she's on a mission to
- 23:29Speaker 2: get like well, I guess maybe she's not trying to
- 23:31Speaker 2: get Tessa back anymore because Tessa's cold des ice.
- 23:34Speaker 1: But I just remember what my other first impression was
- 23:36Speaker 1: going to be. Tell me it was you and Danger Boy.
- 23:40Speaker 2: He is in danger hmmm, danger boy. Yeah, but then
- 23:45Speaker 2: we have Cat. She's gonna this could go on for
- 23:48Speaker 2: a whole nother season. This could have been do you
- 23:51Speaker 2: see it. Elliott was on a sabbatical, but she's been
- 23:55Speaker 2: trying to get him back all year long. Season five, Yes,
- 23:58Speaker 2: this was the setup. This could have been the end
- 23:59Speaker 2: of season four. Yeah, yeah, but yes, I've got some thought.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I almost wonder if they had to refilm some of.
- 24:07Speaker 2: This and what do you think that they had to refilm.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Elliott's staying, But I don't, I don't know, I don't know,
- 24:13Speaker 1: I don't know. From there, Cat arrives in nineteen seventy nine,
- 24:16Speaker 1: where she has a brief interaction with Fern, who once
- 24:20Speaker 1: again speaks in riddles. But this does kind of go
- 24:24Speaker 1: to my point about Fern and Kat connecting, because Fern's
- 24:27Speaker 1: so happy to see her, and Fern's so glad that
- 24:29Speaker 1: Kat knows about their relationship now, and Kat's asking like,
- 24:33Speaker 1: where's Elliott, And Fern's like, oh, you're in the middle
- 24:35Speaker 1: of all of that, right, But Fern tells Kat, you know,
- 24:39Speaker 1: give him some time with his mother. There's never enough time,
- 24:42Speaker 1: Fern says. Kat asks about Grayson and Cliff. Fern says
- 24:48Speaker 1: to Kat Landry women are cursed when it comes to
- 24:51Speaker 1: true love. And then you know tells Kat, you are
- 24:54Speaker 1: a true friend at a time when I needed one,
- 24:55Speaker 1: and I am grateful for the pond, for your friendship
- 24:59Speaker 1: if nothing else, like what else has the pond taken
- 25:02Speaker 1: from Fern? Fern leaves Kat with the final note. She says,
- 25:07Speaker 1: the key is the key. Kitty Cat dunt dun dun't
- 25:12Speaker 1: will lead to Cat being the biggest buffoon in the.
- 25:15Speaker 2: History of this show quite frankly, well and maybe me too,
- 25:18Speaker 2: because I you know, the episode opened with like the
- 25:23Speaker 2: previously on and it shows Elliott like messing with the
- 25:27Speaker 2: piano key, right, and then we're gonna get there. But
- 25:32Speaker 2: are we talking an actual about a key, like a literal.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Key, not a key that you put in a lock,
- 25:41Speaker 1: A key like the key on a map, Like this
- 25:44Speaker 1: symbol means oh, damn, see, I'm a buffoon too. I
- 25:49Speaker 1: think we'll talk about it.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Okay. There's a lot of There's a lot that follows.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Kat returning from nineteen twenty five, starting with Kat talking
- 26:05Speaker 1: to Dell about it and Delle's like, maybe he's for
- 26:09Speaker 1: the best, maybe he needs some time. Same thing for
- 26:11Speaker 1: insays like let him figure it out on his own.
- 26:14Speaker 1: And this is when Dell and Kat have their interaction
- 26:17Speaker 1: where Dale talks about the dreams she's been having about
- 26:19Speaker 1: Colton and Kat kind of gives her almost permission to
- 26:22Speaker 1: move on. In this scene, you know, no one can
- 26:25Speaker 1: compete with a dream, which is great, Like it's not
- 26:28Speaker 1: fair for you to compare Sam to your memories of
- 26:31Speaker 1: Dad totally, and also you can't shy away from future happiness,
- 26:34Speaker 1: which maybe Delle needed to hear her daughter say, her
- 26:38Speaker 1: daughter who loved her father so much, and she and
- 26:41Speaker 1: her daughter have had such a tumultuous relationship to hear
- 26:43Speaker 1: Kat say like you deserve happiness too, like you have
- 26:47Speaker 1: a future ahead of you.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a nice It was a nice scene,
- 26:51Speaker 2: I mean, and that's all I have to say about it.
- 26:53Speaker 2: I'm like, some of those scenes around the kitchen table,
- 26:56Speaker 2: I know are poignant, but I'm like, Okay, they're transition
- 27:00Speaker 2: scenes for me, you know what I mean?
- 27:02Speaker 1: Yes, speaking of transition scenes, really, Cat and Jacob have
- 27:05Speaker 1: a moment on the porch and she's talking to Jacob
- 27:07Speaker 1: about Elliott and she.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Says he's my person.
- 27:10Speaker 1: At the end of the episode, Alice returns from her
- 27:13Speaker 1: travels which we'll discuss, and she finds Kat and Kat's
- 27:17Speaker 1: freaking out because she can't get Kat's wet because she's
- 27:20Speaker 1: been trying to return to Elliott, and Kat says Fern says,
- 27:27Speaker 1: land room and are kursed in love them? I cursed
- 27:29Speaker 1: in love? The phone rings and Elliott has received a
- 27:32Speaker 1: call and Kat answers and she's like, this is his girlfriend,
- 27:34Speaker 1: which I don't know why. I was like, that's weird.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Why I don't know. I was like, oh, I forgosh,
- 27:39Speaker 2: this is great.
- 27:39Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Yeah, they're not like he hasn't proposed yet. Oh he's
- 27:43Speaker 2: sabbatical has been approved? Would they tell her? Would they
- 27:48Speaker 2: tell her that on the phone? I mean, it's not hippa, yeah,
- 27:55Speaker 2: fair Kat's processing all of this.
- 27:59Speaker 1: He had plan in place, like he was taking us
- 28:01Speaker 1: aboutle what else is he lying to me about? And
- 28:04Speaker 1: then of course we hear a beautiful dreamer on the clock.
- 28:07Speaker 1: It's eleven eleven, and they go to Elliott's bed and
- 28:09Speaker 1: he's got a full on murder board on his bed.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Totally like I bet she lived there.
- 28:16Speaker 1: No, not officially, she I think moved in there and
- 28:19Speaker 1: then it was last season and then that was like weird.
- 28:22Speaker 1: She's like, no, I need to stay in my house
- 28:23Speaker 1: until how sleeves.
- 28:25Speaker 2: But she just so happens like not to see this,
- 28:28Speaker 2: like all the archives spread out on the bed.
- 28:32Speaker 1: The house isn't that big, right, not lingermore geez. And
- 28:37Speaker 1: so they find an article that has Elliott's photo in
- 28:41Speaker 1: it front page news and he's being arrested as the
- 28:45Speaker 1: big fish called Tom Buchanan in the article.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Why introduce an alias name? Okay, they could have called
- 28:55Speaker 2: him Capone. I have some thoughts back to my secondary
- 28:59Speaker 2: first impression, you and danger boy. Are you ready tell
- 29:02Speaker 2: me yes?
- 29:04Speaker 1: After watching this scene, i'ment back to season four, episode one,
- 29:08Speaker 1: cold open with Dell and Alice and Cat on the
- 29:12Speaker 1: banks of the pond. But what it actually opens with
- 29:15Speaker 1: is someone's hands trailing in the water of the pond,
- 29:18Speaker 1: and we pull back and it's Cat, and Cat stands
- 29:21Speaker 1: up and turns around. She says, I wish he were here.
- 29:24Speaker 1: And when you and I watched that, we said, who's he?
- 29:26Speaker 1: Is it Jacob? Is it Colton? Who are they talking about?
- 29:30Speaker 1: And Delle says he's here in spirit. And it's very
- 29:32Speaker 1: clear in this interaction that the one who was hurting
- 29:35Speaker 1: the most is Cat.
- 29:36Speaker 2: To me, that is the impression that I get.
- 29:39Speaker 1: And Alice says, we got to get to the ideas
- 29:42Speaker 1: someone's getting married, and I don't think it's any of
- 29:44Speaker 1: these ladies we suspected. Oh it's Kat and Elliot's wedding.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Oh it's Dell and Sam's wedding. I don't think it's
- 29:49Speaker 1: any of them. Okay, I am very worried about Elliott.
- 29:56Speaker 2: You think he's just gonna stay in nineteen twenty five.
- 30:00Speaker 2: I do know. I'm worried about Elliott.
- 30:06Speaker 1: I think this show is about a lot of heartbreak,
- 30:09Speaker 1: and I'm worried about Elliott. Also, immediately after that scene,
- 30:14Speaker 1: there is a Great Gatsby quote that appears on the screen.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Oh, I don't remember. Oh, you're right in the first episode.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and Tom Buchanan is a character from the Great Gatsby.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Oh, look at you feel worried about Elliott? Are you?
- 30:32Speaker 3: Like?
- 30:33Speaker 2: Man? No, part of me's like, there's no way. It's
- 30:39Speaker 2: a tragic ending for Elliott on Hallmark. But who knows?
- 30:43Speaker 2: This show is always kind of operated outside, So who knows?
- 30:48Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 30:50Speaker 1: Look, I have seen some clips, some TikTok, some reels
- 30:55Speaker 1: of the cast of this show, and they're like, just
- 30:57Speaker 1: film the final episode and we've never cried more to
- 31:00Speaker 1: Now could that be like we're sad because our show
- 31:02Speaker 1: is ending, or could that be more sad about the
- 31:04Speaker 1: story we're having to tell?
- 31:06Speaker 2: Yeah? I don't know. Yeah, he there. Let's talk how
- 31:10Speaker 2: about Jacob and Abby. This is Megan Lee's favorite storyline.
- 31:17Speaker 1: And a little bit of Danny.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Why are you such a hater on Jacob and Abbey?
- 31:23Speaker 1: So I am just not interested in this storyline and
- 31:28Speaker 1: I don't know why, and I'm curious to hear from
- 31:30Speaker 1: the listeners what their thoughts. They go on this date
- 31:34Speaker 1: and it's so heavy handed. Yeah, Abby's trying to come
- 31:41Speaker 1: with a marketing pitch and Jacob's like.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Well, it's all about the soil.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Soil season one, and you know, he makes her hold
- 31:50Speaker 1: of soil in his hand, and then he says later
- 31:53Speaker 1: like I'd like to go on a date, and she's like,
- 31:55Speaker 1: what was this And he's like, I didn't want to presume,
- 31:57Speaker 1: and you know, all of this is happening, and I.
- 31:59Speaker 2: Just don't care. Well, I definitely think it's a storyline
- 32:03Speaker 2: built on convenience. They needed to have Jacob sort of
- 32:10Speaker 2: well I don't know, maybe they knew from whenever Casey
- 32:14Speaker 2: was introduced, or like, okay, Casey, this is my theory.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Casey's the child of Jacob and Abby, and so now
- 32:22Speaker 2: we got to like put the pieces together of who
- 32:25Speaker 2: Abby is and how they how Jacob and Abby meet
- 32:28Speaker 2: and move on with their future, and unfortunately they got
- 32:32Speaker 2: four episodes to do it. So it's like fast tracked.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Look, I think that's the wedding that we're looking at.
- 32:37Speaker 1: At the end of the beginning four.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Episodes they get married in four episodes. Well, it's the future.
- 32:44Speaker 2: It's the future, the future. You're right, you're right, you're right,
- 32:47Speaker 2: because episode one, season four it says the future. It
- 32:51Speaker 2: doesn't it doesn't give it time on it. You're right.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Maybe it's Casey's wedding for all I know. I don't know. Anyway.
- 32:59Speaker 1: I wish I were more excited because in theory, I
- 33:02Speaker 1: believe the strongest theory is that these are Casey's parents,
- 33:06Speaker 1: So Casey's an interesting character to me. I want to
- 33:08Speaker 1: be emotionally invested in who their parents are. But I'm
- 33:11Speaker 1: definitely more interested in Casey than Jacob and Abby.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, I don't. I don't hate it like you.
- 33:18Speaker 2: I don't hate watch it like you do. I would
- 33:20Speaker 2: say I hate watch it. I just I'm not strongly invested.
- 33:23Speaker 2: I don't really care all that much. I'm not excited
- 33:25Speaker 2: about these scenes. What do you what's your take on
- 33:28Speaker 2: Danny and these scenes in this episode.
- 33:31Speaker 1: I think Danny's thornshade. There's two notable things in this scene.
- 33:37Speaker 1: One Jacob's talking to Danny about Abby, and he says
- 33:41Speaker 1: modern datying eludes me, and it makes sense that his
- 33:45Speaker 1: character would still use these turns of phrase that are
- 33:48Speaker 1: out of place in the present, but every time he
- 33:52Speaker 1: does it it amuses me, and then has to go
- 33:56Speaker 1: into this whole explanation about like, oh, I grew up
- 33:58Speaker 1: in a community with traditional custos blah blah blah blah blah. Okay,
- 34:01Speaker 1: like the lies get real deep. Yeah, Danny is like
- 34:07Speaker 1: this is never going to work out with Lewis basically
- 34:09Speaker 1: like you're already on thin ice with this man. You
- 34:12Speaker 1: tried to burn down his vineyard, tells him not to
- 34:14Speaker 1: poke that bear again, and then does things always seem
- 34:18Speaker 1: to work out for you whatever you do.
- 34:21Speaker 2: I kind of eloled at that line, well, and Jacob
- 34:25Speaker 2: does he say it after Jacob has walked away. No,
- 34:28Speaker 2: Jacob's still standing there, doesn't react.
- 34:30Speaker 1: No.
- 34:30Speaker 2: I wanted Jacob to be like bro I was missing
- 34:33Speaker 2: for twenty five years or whatever is you know, like, yeah,
- 34:37Speaker 2: really worked out, you know, because what's the story that?
- 34:41Speaker 2: What is the story? I was trying to remember, Like,
- 34:44Speaker 2: was Jacob.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Just yeah he was No, he was found by this
- 34:49Speaker 1: family who lived off the grid basically and raised.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Okay, that's what it was, Yeah, but still that's not
- 34:56Speaker 2: the life that he was meant. Yeah, that's a shitty comment. Yea,
- 35:01Speaker 2: I'm Danny. I think we have some Alice stuff going on.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Alice has decided she's definitely not going to college. Yeah,
- 35:11Speaker 2: but she says, you know, maybe for a semester or
- 35:13Speaker 2: for a year, like Alice just wants some time to think.
- 35:15Speaker 2: And I know everyone's freaking out here.
- 35:18Speaker 1: I don't think this is unusual or crazy for a
- 35:22Speaker 1: eighteen year old kid all of a sudden be like, Wow,
- 35:25Speaker 1: this is a big life change, and I am not
- 35:26Speaker 1: sure I am ready for it. The number of parents
- 35:29Speaker 1: with kids I know who have gotten to school and
- 35:32Speaker 1: been like, wow, this is not what I want at all.
- 35:37Speaker 1: You know, I think it's pretty normal.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I think it's I think it's fine.
- 35:42Speaker 2: I thought I thought it was funny how she told
- 35:44Speaker 2: Dell first smart and yeah right, and then you know,
- 35:48Speaker 2: Kat takes it okay, but she's like, you're dead.
- 35:51Speaker 1: I know, I know, and Brady were to understand. We
- 35:55Speaker 1: don't see his reaction other than like he's been calling
- 35:58Speaker 1: me non stop, right, but doesn't take it well, which
- 36:01Speaker 1: is to be expected.
- 36:02Speaker 2: You know who's missing here in this episode is Max.
- 36:05Speaker 2: We don't hear, we don't see any continuation of their
- 36:09Speaker 2: big argument from last I'll speak.
- 36:12Speaker 1: They're fighting, but we do get the Fritter King, or
- 36:16Speaker 1: we do get the return of the Fritter King.
- 36:19Speaker 2: And he's like, yeah, okay, whatever, Like he doesn't seem
- 36:22Speaker 2: like that to me, doesn't seem shocked or upset at all,
- 36:29Speaker 2: not at all. Noah doesn't seem bothered at all.
- 36:31Speaker 1: And I'll in some ways it's easier for him because
- 36:33Speaker 1: she'll be closer for them to have their middle distance relationship.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Yeah right.
- 36:37Speaker 1: H Alice has a confrontation with Casey and starts by being.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Like, I deferred.
- 36:42Speaker 1: I did what you told me to do, and Casey's like, yo,
- 36:45Speaker 1: I did not tell you to do that.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Do not put this on me.
- 36:49Speaker 1: And this sets off like a string of people wanting
- 36:54Speaker 1: Casey to give them information about their future and tell
- 36:57Speaker 1: them how things are going to go. And he has
- 37:00Speaker 1: already seen this go badly with Sam, like if Sam
- 37:03Speaker 1: the information that he and Dell are together in the future,
- 37:05Speaker 1: and that led Sam to be like, I'm just gonna
- 37:08Speaker 1: weird to believe, sit back and relax and enjoreth the
- 37:12Speaker 1: ride because Dell and going nowhere.
- 37:14Speaker 2: What kind of pisses me off is like, why are
- 37:16Speaker 2: they pressing Casey so hard for so much information? Right?
- 37:19Speaker 2: These are time travelers themselves who also don't share anything, right,
- 37:25Speaker 2: so stop asking questions. They know you cannot share this information.
- 37:31Speaker 1: But I did think it was funny because Casey comes
- 37:33Speaker 1: to dinner at the Landry Farm and Kat launches into
- 37:37Speaker 1: this whole thing about how like Elliot had stayed in
- 37:40Speaker 1: the past and the pod will let me go back,
- 37:41Speaker 1: and they're just openly having this conversation with quite a
- 37:45Speaker 1: few people at the table about time traveling via.
- 37:47Speaker 2: The pond, which I found amusing. Yes, it's like that's
- 37:52Speaker 2: just being open conversation. This is what I talked about
- 37:54Speaker 2: last week or the week before. I was like, Oh,
- 37:56Speaker 2: it seems like everything is just so open and transparent now,
- 38:00Speaker 2: But maybe it's been like that the last four seasons
- 38:03Speaker 2: and I just never really clocked it before. It made
- 38:07Speaker 2: me laugh too.
- 38:08Speaker 1: The button on this Alice in the present day stuff
- 38:12Speaker 1: is Alice and Casey have a fight on the banks
- 38:14Speaker 1: of the pond because Alice kind of chases Casey down
- 38:17Speaker 1: to the pond and Casey's done.
- 38:20Speaker 2: She's like, it's.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Always about your problems, Alice, and fairly Alice is like, yo,
- 38:26Speaker 1: I don't know anything about you to care about your problem, Like,
- 38:29Speaker 1: you haven't told me anything, how can I be?
- 38:31Speaker 2: You know?
- 38:32Speaker 1: She would love to know more information about Casey and
- 38:34Speaker 1: then just more talking in reddles. I wanted to have
- 38:37Speaker 1: fun before things change. Everything is a countdown to something.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Casey jumps, cat calls Alice and Alice is like, yo,
- 38:45Speaker 1: I got the perfect trick to avoid talking to my
- 38:47Speaker 1: anger mom. I'm gonna jump in the pond and she does.
- 38:51Speaker 2: And where did she go? Seventy nine? Oh, this is
- 38:53Speaker 2: she's watching New Year's Eve. This was my baby. Did
- 38:56Speaker 2: you see that? Okay, not one person's worrying a coat.
- 39:00Speaker 2: They're outside. It's New Brunswick in December. Shouldn't it be snowy?
- 39:05Speaker 2: If it's scarf.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Weather in August, it should certainly be cold in November.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Wait, the same time out I thought the pond froze over,
- 39:14Speaker 2: and then oh, you're right, there was no like time
- 39:18Speaker 2: traveling in the winter time because the pond froze over.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Right now should be freezing cold when she's wet, so hell,
- 39:25Speaker 2: is that working? Nice? Good time? I that doesn't what
- 39:31Speaker 2: And I just laughed. When they're like, oh, the eighties,
- 39:33Speaker 2: I was like this, they're so excited for the eighties.
- 39:38Speaker 2: In my mind, I look back at the eighties. I'm like,
- 39:42Speaker 2: I don't know if that's like a personal.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I don't look at it as a time
- 39:46Speaker 1: to be remembered fondly.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Bad hair, bad clothes. Yeah. My husband is, He's like,
- 39:55Speaker 2: the music is so good. I was like, Okay, there's
- 39:57Speaker 2: some music that's great from the eighties, but some of
- 40:00Speaker 2: it's really terrible too. So we always have this argument
- 40:04Speaker 2: in our house. But what'd you think about this? Like
- 40:07Speaker 2: New Year's Eve party? Whose house is it? Is it
- 40:11Speaker 2: at the Landry House? The new party? Is it? Coils
- 40:14Speaker 2: at Coils? That's right, because they're gonna close coils. Coils
- 40:17Speaker 2: is closing down because Jasperry is leaving. Right, Yeah, it's
- 40:20Speaker 2: our it's our Port Haven friends. And two randos. I
- 40:25Speaker 2: did say a randos like this, there's like three.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Of them, Like when they all go to countdown, there's
- 40:30Speaker 1: like three people like holding up their champion glasses. Fine,
- 40:33Speaker 1: then Alice is in partake in the countdown, she's like
- 40:36Speaker 1: on the circle, like not on the circle, but she's
- 40:39Speaker 1: like outside of they're a little thing.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Scanteak out. I hated the oh you look so young,
- 40:45Speaker 2: but you got to give me your skin regime. Regime,
- 40:49Speaker 2: that's not the word. You have to give me your
- 40:50Speaker 2: skin regimen. I'm like, nobody talks like that in nineteen
- 40:53Speaker 2: seventy nine.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Right, nobody's talking about like your skincaret. No, I know,
- 40:57Speaker 1: the pond's cold cream and smoking.
- 40:59Speaker 2: Like come on.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Also, you know Evelyn is still played by the same
- 41:05Speaker 1: actress who has aged exactly as much as Sadie the
- 41:08Speaker 1: Flame Snow has exactly This is seventy nine. It's five years,
- 41:14Speaker 1: Like Alice would not have aged that much.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Right, you know, when you go to your ten year
- 41:20Speaker 2: class reunion, everybody still looks the same. This five years
- 41:24Speaker 2: is not going to make a difference. They're not gonna
- 41:25Speaker 2: be like, whoa why are you Benjamin buttoning? Here are
- 41:29Speaker 2: some takeaways from this scene for me. Colton and Dell
- 41:32Speaker 2: are still deep in their grief because they can't have
- 41:35Speaker 2: a baby. Yes, and she lost a baby, Like, okay,
- 41:38Speaker 2: I'm being a jerk.
- 41:40Speaker 1: I would imagine that is a long process to grief,
- 41:43Speaker 1: particularly because they've been trying to get pregnant for a
- 41:45Speaker 1: long time. She finally does, they lose the baby. It's
- 41:48Speaker 1: been hard. Life has been hard. But I need more
- 41:52Speaker 1: to happen with them. Obviously this is building towards something,
- 41:55Speaker 1: but I need something to happen. Griffin is back, and
- 41:58Speaker 1: Gryffin's like, wants to be everyone. It's a good time guy.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Griffin's like, I came back because Fern told me what happened,
- 42:04Speaker 1: and I think he wants Colton to be like super appreciative, like, yeah, man,
- 42:09Speaker 1: that was a great thing you did. And this blows
- 42:12Speaker 1: up in his face because Colton's like, oh, you're never around,
- 42:16Speaker 1: Like I was the one who had to pick up
- 42:17Speaker 1: the pieces after dad died and all of this.
- 42:19Speaker 2: So but let me ask you as a viewer, because
- 42:22Speaker 2: this is my take. I don't care anything about Griffin
- 42:25Speaker 2: because we don't know anything about Griffin, right, And we.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Haven't seen Colton have to do this picking up of
- 42:32Speaker 1: the pieces exactly. We've never seen his mother. We've only
- 42:36Speaker 1: seen bits and pieces of Fern being kind of cooky.
- 42:39Speaker 1: But we just don't know enough, right. Jasper pulls out
- 42:43Speaker 1: some of his home videos as he's reminiscing because he's.
- 42:47Speaker 2: What a what a fun New Year's party.
- 42:50Speaker 1: He's gonna shut down Coils because they're gonna forgive the
- 42:53Speaker 1: draft Dodger. So this man with a strong Canadian accent
- 42:57Speaker 1: is going to return to his home in the state
- 43:02Speaker 1: and shut down his diner in Port Haven. At New Brunswick,
- 43:08Speaker 1: Cat shows up in I love it. I love the
- 43:11Speaker 1: Cat shows up because the entire theme of the show
- 43:13Speaker 1: is Cat's the worst time traveler ever, and she just
- 43:15Speaker 1: comes walking down the stairs and coiled dead center in
- 43:18Speaker 1: the middle of this footage. Jasper's like, isn't that your mom?
- 43:22Speaker 2: Alice? I hate this entire scene because yes, Jasper's like,
- 43:26Speaker 2: isn't that your mom Alice? And Alice is like no,
- 43:28Speaker 2: And then eve He's like that I know her. She's
- 43:32Speaker 2: in the portrait. That's the White Witch. She saved me
- 43:34Speaker 2: from the thing. I was like, uh, too much, too
- 43:39Speaker 2: much information a person doesn't have like those kind of
- 43:42Speaker 2: revelations like that, there's no way. Yeah, it was a lot.
- 43:47Speaker 1: It was reminding the viewers why Evelyn knows this woman
- 43:50Speaker 1: and why she's so significant.
- 43:52Speaker 2: But I'm aware and I hated it.
- 43:55Speaker 1: Yeah, me too, me too, and Alice tries to steal
- 43:58Speaker 1: the footage on her way out, but doesn't do a
- 44:01Speaker 1: very good job, like take it with you, don't just
- 44:03Speaker 1: hide it in the trash can, like what are you doing?
- 44:05Speaker 2: And Tessa sees her steal the Does Tessa see her
- 44:09Speaker 2: steal it or does she see her just leave? Like
- 44:12Speaker 2: I can't you know what, I don't remember. There was
- 44:14Speaker 2: some shady eyes from Tessa at some point, like either
- 44:17Speaker 2: she saw Alice take the film real or saw her
- 44:22Speaker 2: put it in the trash can. I can't remember.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I kind of think she just she sees her
- 44:28Speaker 1: before she leaves, and then Evelyn is the one who
- 44:30Speaker 1: follows her out and is like, why didn't you say goodbye?
- 44:33Speaker 1: And to me, this feels like a goodbye scene between
- 44:36Speaker 1: Evelyn and Alice in this time period, because Alice tells
- 44:41Speaker 1: Evelyn that you know you'll look back on these times
- 44:44Speaker 1: as your golden ears, because I know their mine. And
- 44:47Speaker 1: this was very reminiscent of enjoy the ride, stop and
- 44:50Speaker 1: smell the roses vibe like look around while you're living it,
- 44:56Speaker 1: don't wish it away, which is advice that I could
- 44:58Speaker 1: give myself watching the sh show and your eyes are
- 45:01Speaker 1: darting all around the screen.
- 45:02Speaker 2: You're like, where the clues, Where are the clues? Where
- 45:03Speaker 2: are the clues? Where is it leading? Yep, I don't know.
- 45:08Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 45:09Speaker 1: But back in the present day, to bring it all
- 45:12Speaker 1: full circle, Monica's about to celebrate the forty fifth anniversary
- 45:17Speaker 1: of The Point because the Point opening one year after
- 45:20Speaker 1: coils closed, and in her box of memorabilia right on
- 45:24Speaker 1: top is the film real that Alice does not see.
- 45:29Speaker 2: She does not see it. I'm like, welcome back, Monica,
- 45:33Speaker 2: where have you been for a season and a half? Yes, exactly.
- 45:38Speaker 1: And finally, in the moment we've all been waiting for,
- 45:41Speaker 1: the piano mystery is revealed.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Yeah, the repair man comes out to fix the sticky key.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Why did we just not open it up? When Elliott
- 45:52Speaker 1: was like, something's sticking in here? Why did you just
- 45:54Speaker 1: not lift the lid and take a peek?
- 45:56Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know enough about pianos. I don't know
- 45:58Speaker 2: if you could. I don't know the mechanics of it.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Can you just do that? Yes? Look in there. Yeah,
- 46:04Speaker 2: if it needs fixing.
- 46:06Speaker 1: You couldn't fix it because you see a large piece
- 46:08Speaker 1: of paper wrapped around a key. Yeah, you can open
- 46:11Speaker 1: the lid and you can look and whatever.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Let's get into why you believe this is Kat's biggest
- 46:18Speaker 2: buffoonery scene.
- 46:19Speaker 1: So the man hands it to Cat, this paper. He's like, well,
- 46:22Speaker 1: that's the that's the problem. Here's the ticket. Kat unfolds
- 46:27Speaker 1: this note and it is.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Like, if that's one thousand? Seriously.
- 46:34Speaker 1: She and Alice go through it together ultimately, but it's
- 46:37Speaker 1: the page missing from Alice's Alice in Wonderland book, the
- 46:42Speaker 1: one that Tessa gave to Fern Anti Coop gave to Fern.
- 46:47Speaker 1: And on the page that is missing, there is a
- 46:50Speaker 1: note from Cliff about how he's yearning.
- 46:52Speaker 2: For a life together with Fern.
- 46:55Speaker 1: And Kat reads this note, but the note's long, and
- 46:57Speaker 1: I don't think Kat reads the entire thing because on
- 47:01Speaker 1: the other side there's a key, a legend, so to speak,
- 47:05Speaker 1: and in the middle it says the letter that comes after,
- 47:08Speaker 1: and around that are the words good, that just great, tried,
- 47:13Speaker 1: be of you at if have there.
- 47:16Speaker 2: And Kat's like maybe this is the cue to her heart.
- 47:18Speaker 1: And I'm like, I never solve a mystery ever, ever,
- 47:23Speaker 1: And I am screaming at the television. I'm like, reread
- 47:28Speaker 1: the letter. Kat and look for those words. It's the
- 47:31Speaker 1: most blatant key. There's no riddle. It's the letter that
- 47:35Speaker 1: comes after what's the letter that comes after the word good?
- 47:39Speaker 2: Spell a word? Okay, you're gonna have to tell me,
- 47:42Speaker 2: like I'm a five year old, So let's say go back.
- 47:46Speaker 1: We don't know the answer because I went back and
- 47:49Speaker 1: re listened to Kat reading, and she does not say
- 47:51Speaker 1: most of those words. She says a couple of them,
- 47:53Speaker 1: like oh and you. I think Kat didn't read the
- 47:55Speaker 1: whole letter out loud. I think she was just like
- 47:57Speaker 1: skipping to the end because there are more it's on
- 48:00Speaker 1: the page. Then Cat read out loud. Okay, So hopefully
- 48:04Speaker 1: someone comes along and says, maybe this is maybe Jacob.
- 48:09Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know who's going to come
- 48:11Speaker 1: along and read that, but I think they just need
- 48:13Speaker 1: to look at that letter.
- 48:15Speaker 2: And find those words. And then you make a word.
- 48:18Speaker 2: I don't know what that word's going to be. I
- 48:20Speaker 2: don't know either. I thought you had to figure it out. No,
- 48:22Speaker 2: I tried. I tried, but I'm sure there is a
- 48:26Speaker 2: listener who has figured it out. So email us. We
- 48:29Speaker 2: need to know.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Unless it's the words in the Alice book, which could
- 48:35Speaker 1: also be the case. But I assumed it was the
- 48:38Speaker 1: words in the letter, but it's it's the letter after
- 48:43Speaker 1: those words in some document that they have.
- 48:47Speaker 2: Okay, I'm a little lost on that part, but it
- 48:50Speaker 2: will be explained, I'm sure, hopefully. I think it's going
- 48:53Speaker 2: to be.
- 48:53Speaker 1: It'll be like the word good, oh, there's a t,
- 48:55Speaker 1: the word that, oh, there's an age, the word just oh.
- 48:59Speaker 1: After that is the let her eat and it's gonna
- 49:01Speaker 1: sell the big fish or something so stupid.
- 49:07Speaker 2: Or what the key is the key? Yeah? I hate
- 49:11Speaker 2: these riddles. I hate them.
- 49:15Speaker 1: We're real salty today. I apologize, folks. But that's a
- 49:19Speaker 1: wrap on this week's thoughts on the way home. Sorry.
- 49:24Speaker 1: As we know, our listeners are smarter than we are,
- 49:26Speaker 1: and they will come up with theories that are quite
- 49:29Speaker 1: likely stronger than ours.
- 49:30Speaker 2: So at the end of the week, we're gonna be like,
- 49:33Speaker 2: ah' oh.
- 49:36Speaker 1: I think it's very clear that I've done a lot
- 49:38Speaker 1: of thinking about this episode. I went back and rewatched scenes,
- 49:42Speaker 1: I wrote down the letters from the key I really
- 49:44Speaker 1: listened to. I'm working hard here. I'm not phoning it in,
- 49:48Speaker 1: I trust, but please send us your voicemails nine for

- 50:13Speaker 2: have it. I could watch it right now, but I
- 50:16Speaker 2: thought about that last night. When I watched it, I
- 50:18Speaker 2: was like, should I fire up the next one? I know,
- 50:20Speaker 2: I know, I know, I know, I know real time?
- 50:24Speaker 2: Did you do it? No? I didn't. Okay, I's to retired. Okay, Hey,
