- 0:48Speaker 1: Mississippi State football coach Jeff Levy. We have a high
- 0:52Speaker 1: school report. We're going to hear from Will Lee. In
- 0:56Speaker 1: the second hour, we have our Clark Eisenhower outdoor addition,
- 1:01Speaker 1: lots of nasty animals, a fishing trip to fair Play,
- 1:08Speaker 1: Colorado out of Breckenridge, and more. All of that ahead
- 1:13Speaker 1: here on the program, and we're keeping watch on the
- 1:17Speaker 1: baseball playoffs. We're going into the top of the seventh inning.
- 1:23Speaker 1: The Tigers lead the Guardians two to what. Dylan Dingler
- 1:28Speaker 1: homered in the top of the sixth inning to give
- 1:31Speaker 1: Detroit a one run lead, and this is the deciding game.
- 1:38Speaker 1: There is another deciding game. Oh, I probably need that.
- 1:44Speaker 1: What happened to that? Clicker? Okay, the let's see what
- 1:50Speaker 1: Let's see what we can do with that too. I
- 1:53Speaker 1: don't know if that's the right number or not, but
- 1:56Speaker 1: we're going to find out. Oh they are, then what
- 1:59Speaker 1: am I doing? Mess them with this thing? Let's go
- 2:02Speaker 1: back to the game. Then they haven't started Padre's Cubs yet.
- 2:06Speaker 1: That's at Wrigleyville. And then tonight Red Sox Yankees Game three.
- 2:15Speaker 1: So we got that going on for us, which is nice.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Let's see college football tonight. Did you know sam Houston
- 2:24Speaker 1: State's playing tonight? Yeah, well you shouldn't, but they are.
- 2:28Speaker 1: They're playing New Mexico State. That game is on CBS
- 2:32Speaker 1: Sports Network Tomorrow night. Oh tomorrow night. Is that's the
- 2:37Speaker 1: slate you don't want to miss? Okay, tomorrow night, you
- 2:40Speaker 1: got Western Kentucky and Delaware. They're the Blue Hens, right,
- 2:45Speaker 1: Charlotte and South Florida that's on the Ocho, New Mexico
- 2:51Speaker 1: and San Jose State. You got West VIRGINNY and b
- 2:56Speaker 1: Yu Man. That is a long trip from Provo, Utah,
- 3:03Speaker 1: Holy moly, huh oh it is in Provo. That's a
- 3:07Speaker 1: long trip from West VIRGINNY. And then the late game
- 3:16Speaker 1: those Colorado State rams against those San Diego State somethings pastics,
- 3:25Speaker 1: that's right. Are you sure that's not San Diego? Then
- 3:29Speaker 1: who's San Diego's what's the mascot for University of San Diego?
- 3:34Speaker 1: The Aztecs are San Diego State. We knew that, Aggie's
- 3:38Speaker 1: of course at six thirty on Saturday night. Our coverage
- 3:42Speaker 1: here on the Zone will start at three thirty with
- 3:46Speaker 1: all the pregame stuff and hide the women and children.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Ed ors Juron wants to coach again. What are they
- 4:00Speaker 1: the the rrero's. I don't know what a torrero is.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Not Toro's toros are bulls. What are terrero's, Ah, they're bullfighters.
- 4:14Speaker 1: That makes sense. I guess you know they're not far
- 4:19Speaker 1: from from Tijuana. Yeah. Ed Orgeron wants to coach again.
- 4:26Speaker 1: He's been gone four years, and he said, it all
- 4:33Speaker 1: depends what the best thing available is. But I'm ready
- 4:37Speaker 1: to coach again. I left a little meat on the bone.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I'm ready to go. You know. You let them come
- 4:44Speaker 1: out there. Uh, that was more sling blade than at
- 4:48Speaker 1: or Gerona I had. I hadn't practiced that. And in
- 4:54Speaker 1: baseball against fall ball, that's tomorrow they'll play Sam Houston twelve. Okay,
- 5:03Speaker 1: admission is free, Parking is free. Look, if you didn't
- 5:06Speaker 1: even think about going to this game, you better go
- 5:10Speaker 1: to this game because you may never see free parking
- 5:13Speaker 1: anywhere near campus again in your lifetime. I'm really surprised
- 5:18Speaker 1: at that, but there you go. It's six o'clock tomorrow night. Okay,
- 5:25Speaker 1: let's see. Remember when they threw out that trial balloon
- 5:30Speaker 1: that hey, we're going to expand the NCAA basketball tournament.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Most of us like, why would you do that? It's
- 5:36Speaker 1: already really really good, and they said, yeah, maybe we won't.
- 5:41Speaker 1: It's all really really good. Well, now Ross Stellinger is
- 5:44Speaker 1: reporting new proposed format is being floated, expanding from sixty
- 5:51Speaker 1: eight to seventy six teams. Why well, why do you
- 6:01Speaker 1: think money more TV inventory? So anyway with the expanded team.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Eight more at large teams in the current format been
- 6:18Speaker 1: able to avoid the first four games have a secure
- 6:21Speaker 1: spot in the field of sixty four. Will now have
- 6:23Speaker 1: to play prior to those Thursday Friday. Anyway, prior to
- 6:30Speaker 1: the Monday Tuesday games. I'll had to play the weekend
- 6:32Speaker 1: before or something like that. So I don't know. And
- 6:36Speaker 1: speaking of basketball, I want it known that we are
- 6:39Speaker 1: talking about basketball and it's barely October, but this is
- 6:46Speaker 1: where it's leading us. John Shire has a new contract
- 6:49Speaker 1: extension two more years through thirty thirty one. Shire's been
- 7:00Speaker 1: pretty good, won eighty nine games in his first three seasons.
- 7:06Speaker 1: He was in Elite eight in twenty twenty four Final
- 7:09Speaker 1: four last year. Brad Stevens and Brad Underwood the only
- 7:16Speaker 1: other coaches in Division one history who have won that
- 7:21Speaker 1: many games in their first three years. There's two teams
- 7:27Speaker 1: that have more total wins than Duke in the last
- 7:32Speaker 1: three years. Can you name him? Two teams have more
- 7:37Speaker 1: than eighty nine wins in the last three seasons in
- 7:40Speaker 1: college basketball Now, we Yukons obvious they won back to
- 7:47Speaker 1: back titles, right and the Houston Cougars, Yeah, the Fighting
- 7:56Speaker 1: Calvin Sampson's. They have won a lot of games. They
- 8:00Speaker 1: have knocked on that door, but as bum Phillips said,
- 8:02Speaker 1: they just haven't kicked it down yet. All right. Oh,
- 8:07Speaker 1: by the way, Karen Eisner is going to join us
- 8:11Speaker 1: next Tuesday on the program. She has written a biography
- 8:14Speaker 1: of Carol King. She made the Earth Move really good
- 8:19Speaker 1: biography of Carol King. That is next Tuesday on the program.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Monday Writers Roundtable tomorrow, Tony Catalina, the Austin American Statesman,
- 8:32Speaker 1: Kirk Bowles of the Houston Chronicle, and I don't know
- 8:36Speaker 1: what else. Young, Ryan and Old will have police reports tomorrow,
- 8:44Speaker 1: always on Fridays. Excellent, So there'll be police reports tomorrow.
- 8:49Speaker 1: You got that to look forward to, which is nice.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Us still too. We got two games going here. I
- 8:56Speaker 1: like that. A picture and a picture to one Detroit.
- 9:00Speaker 1: In the seventh Tigers bases loaded a hit here that
- 9:06Speaker 1: may end the series. I'm just telling you there's one
- 9:09Speaker 1: out at a base hit could put the Tigers into
- 9:14Speaker 1: the next rounde We're gonna take a break. We're gonna
- 9:17Speaker 1: hear from Mississippi State coach Jeff Levy after the final
- 9:21Speaker 1: up Brought to you by Chad Jones Law.
- 9:24Speaker 3: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt, and so
- 9:27Speaker 3: do injuries from car recks. But you didn't sign up
- 9:29Speaker 3: to be in a car wreck with someone who wasn't
- 9:31Speaker 3: paying attention. It was their fault and now you're left
- 9:34Speaker 3: to deal with the consequences. You need to see a doctor,
- 9:36Speaker 3: and you're missing work. Chad Jones Law can help. We've
- 9:39Speaker 3: been helping our neighbors for more than two decades. Stop
- 9:42Speaker 3: getting frustrated with the other side's foot dragging. Remember, don't
- 9:45Speaker 3: get mad. Get Chad. Call Chad Jones Law at ninety
- 9:48Speaker 3: seven nine five to ninety five five thousand, or go
- 9:51Speaker 3: online to Chad Jones Law dot com.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Denny Hamlin is on He's currently fourth in the playoff
- 9:58Speaker 4: standings forty eight points to the good and he is
- 10:01Speaker 4: getting us all set up for the Charlotte Rollval road
- 10:03Speaker 4: course and how drivers are approaching the changes they made
- 10:06Speaker 4: there last year.
- 10:07Speaker 5: Yeah, it will certainly be different, for sure. I mean,
- 10:10Speaker 5: I think as time goes on, everyone's going to adapt
- 10:13Speaker 5: their style to a very similar styles as we do
- 10:16Speaker 5: on most tracks. But yeah, I think it certainly is
- 10:20Speaker 5: inviting to go in there and kind of dive bomb
- 10:23Speaker 5: and that's going to you know, get rewarded. Sometimes sometimes
- 10:26Speaker 5: it won't. So it's the same track for everyone. You
- 10:29Speaker 5: just got to someone's going to win, and so you
- 10:32Speaker 5: just hope you're at Certainly the work that you put
- 10:34Speaker 5: in during the regular season helps with that, right you
- 10:37Speaker 5: get just you get to have a jump start when
- 10:40Speaker 5: the round starts, right, so those who have the most
- 10:43Speaker 5: regular season points or bonus points or whatever are always going
- 10:46Speaker 5: to reset to the top.
- 10:47Speaker 6: So you know, if it was all zero, you know
- 10:49Speaker 6: where would it be.
- 10:51Speaker 5: So I think that it shows the importance of the
- 10:53Speaker 5: regular season. And certainly if you can build a buffer
- 10:58Speaker 5: for for bad days, that's that really pays off in
- 11:01Speaker 5: rounds like these.
- 11:02Speaker 4: And Denny talks about qualifying for the Charlotte Robbo road
- 11:05Speaker 4: Course this weekend.
- 11:06Speaker 5: Also depends on who's in front of you in the
- 11:09Speaker 5: qualifying order and what is their agenda. I probably won't
- 11:12Speaker 5: know what Chris will do until I come out of
- 11:15Speaker 5: the back Chicane and we're coming to two to go,
- 11:17Speaker 5: and does he call me to pit roade or not.
- 11:19Speaker 5: And I think it's a lot of that is waiting
- 11:21Speaker 5: and seeing this is the final app find.
- 11:24Speaker 7: What you love, love what you find Total Wine and More.
- 11:29Speaker 7: There's so much waiting for use merits and beer. Thousands
- 11:34Speaker 7: of wine guys in the known price is so it does.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Find blow your line.
- 11:44Speaker 7: Find what you love and love what you find.
- 11:47Speaker 2: With cribs, i'd pick up and delivery available, You'll always
- 11:50Speaker 2: find what you love only at Total Wine and More.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Responsibly be twenty one.
- 11:55Speaker 4: Is good.
- 11:56Speaker 8: You're still glowing, flirting, grooving. You ill got it, but
- 12:01Speaker 8: your immune system weakens as you age, making it harder
- 12:03Speaker 8: to fight flu, newmacacal pneumonia, RSV and COVID nineteen. Vaccines
- 12:08Speaker 8: are a key part of any health routine and health
- 12:11Speaker 8: strengthen your immune response. Ask your doctor a pharmacist which
- 12:14Speaker 8: vaccines you need. Schedule in minutes at vax assists dot com,
- 12:18Speaker 8: sponsored by Pfizer.
- 12:24Speaker 9: Keep up with high schools all over the Branches Valley.
- 12:26Speaker 10: It's the high school.
- 12:27Speaker 9: Reports Tuesdays and Thursdays at four ship Hip howich sports do?
- 12:39Speaker 1: Thanks for being with us here on a Thursday. The
- 12:45Speaker 1: Tigers playting like the team that had the fifteen and
- 12:48Speaker 1: a half game lead before they began to crater. They
- 12:52Speaker 1: have broken opened the game in Cleveland. It is six
- 12:56Speaker 1: to one Detroit and the Tigers are still batting in
- 12:59Speaker 1: the top of the seventh with runners at first and
- 13:02Speaker 1: second at Wrigley Field, no score, Cubs and Padres Tonight
- 13:10Speaker 1: Red Sox Yankees. So we've got all of that going
- 13:15Speaker 1: on for US Saturday at Kyle Field. It's a blackout,
- 13:22Speaker 1: I'm told, and that game will start at six point
- 13:29Speaker 1: thirty on the SEC network. Mississippi State is coming in.
- 13:36Speaker 1: We will spend some time with Tony Catalina tomorrow afternoon
- 13:41Speaker 1: in the second hour previewing that game. And next week
- 13:50Speaker 1: with Flora, with Florida coming in, we will hopefully hear
- 13:56Speaker 1: from Billy Napier. I say hopefully. I'm pretty sure Bill
- 14:00Speaker 1: Napier will still be the Florida coach next week, no
- 14:03Speaker 1: matter what happens on Saturday. The Gators are hosting the
- 14:07Speaker 1: Longhorns on Saturday. Last year was Texas just crushed Florida
- 14:17Speaker 1: and Lagway didn't play. And I don't know what you know,
- 14:22Speaker 1: I don't know about Lagway right now. It's it's uh,
- 14:27Speaker 1: you know, we know he's got a leg injury. We
- 14:30Speaker 1: know he's been in a walking boot since like August,
- 14:34Speaker 1: on and off. He has not played real well. That
- 14:38Speaker 1: doesn't mean he's not capable of playing real well. He
- 14:42Speaker 1: just hasn't done it yet. But a healthy lagway which
- 14:48Speaker 1: we saw at the end of last year and when
- 14:51Speaker 1: they finally committed to him, what they went six games
- 14:55Speaker 1: in a row or something like that, and they started
- 14:57Speaker 1: so poorly, and we saw the flashes of why that
- 15:03Speaker 1: kid was a top quarterback prospect. But he hasn't been that,
- 15:07Speaker 1: and guess what, neither has Arch. We will talk to
- 15:10Speaker 1: Kurt Bowles about all of this tomorrow on the program
- 15:15Speaker 1: at four point fifteen tomorrow on the program. Right now,
- 15:20Speaker 1: we want to hear from Jeff Levy, the head coach
- 15:25Speaker 1: at Mississippi State, from yesterday's SEC teleconference.
- 15:33Speaker 11: Yeah, just for us, our guys have really responded the
- 15:35Speaker 11: right way. We've had a good week of practice so
- 15:39Speaker 11: far and got a great opportunity, a great challenge ahead
- 15:41Speaker 11: of us and excited about it.
- 15:43Speaker 10: Hey, coach, I wanted to ask you about the defensive performance.
- 15:46Speaker 10: Did a good job of restricting some of the chunk
- 15:49Speaker 10: plays against Tennessee. Obviously they still got them, but kept
- 15:53Speaker 10: them off the board and kind of made them earn
- 15:55Speaker 10: their touchdowns as well as get a few red zone
- 15:57Speaker 10: stops holding them to field goals. How important is that
- 15:59Speaker 10: aspect of their game going into this A and M
- 16:02Speaker 10: game where you know firsthand what their receivers can do.
- 16:07Speaker 11: Yeah, it's a huge deal, and we did. We gave
- 16:09Speaker 11: up some chunks the other day. I think they had
- 16:12Speaker 11: two hundred and thirty eight yards on seven completions. So
- 16:14Speaker 11: for us, we've got to limit that as much as
- 16:16Speaker 11: we can. I did. I love how we played defensively
- 16:20Speaker 11: last week, without a doubt, played well enough to be
- 16:23Speaker 11: able to give us an opportunity to go win the game.
- 16:26Speaker 11: We're going to need that same thing on Saturday night.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Hey, coach, would you would you describe Mario Kraver having
- 16:35Speaker 1: seeing him obviously last year up close and personal, and
- 16:38Speaker 1: then the challenges he presents to your defense.
- 16:42Speaker 11: Yeah, it's kind of piggy piggybacks off the last question.
- 16:45Speaker 11: Rio's had a ton of production for those guys this year,
- 16:49Speaker 11: and again for us defensively, got to do a great
- 16:51Speaker 11: job keeping the ball in front of us and tackling
- 16:53Speaker 11: in space.
- 16:54Speaker 1: What kind of particular problem is does A and M's
- 16:57Speaker 1: defense present your offense?
- 16:59Speaker 11: Yeah? I think when you look at them, the way
- 17:01Speaker 11: they've played situationally on third down. The amount of pressure
- 17:04Speaker 11: that they put on every single quarterback they play, they
- 17:08Speaker 11: create stress. From that standpoint, we've got to do a
- 17:11Speaker 11: great job of keeping keeping Blake up right and keeping
- 17:14Speaker 11: him play and being able to go pitch and Cats
- 17:16Speaker 11: and Jeff.
- 17:17Speaker 12: In terms of the defense again, you know you they've forced,
- 17:21Speaker 12: you know, some of the most turnovers in the country.
- 17:23Speaker 12: Your defense has What are you just see in that
- 17:27Speaker 12: regard that's allowing that the defense be successful in forcing turnovers?
- 17:32Speaker 11: Yeah, you know it is. It's talked about all day
- 17:35Speaker 11: every day. Ball out mentality for us defensively finding a
- 17:39Speaker 11: way to get our hands on the football, get shots
- 17:41Speaker 11: on the ball, and then make the play when we
- 17:44Speaker 11: have the opportunity to. So when you look at the
- 17:46Speaker 11: best teams in college football, they find ways to go
- 17:49Speaker 11: get it and then they find ways to take care
- 17:51Speaker 11: of it offensively. So we've got to find ways to
- 17:54Speaker 11: do that.
- 17:54Speaker 13: Saturday, Hey, coach, I appreciate the time today. One thing
- 17:58Speaker 13: that you mentioned at the very big beginning is that
- 18:00Speaker 13: you said you liked your team's response this week. What
- 18:04Speaker 13: specifically do you like of what you've seen out of
- 18:08Speaker 13: your team on the practice field coming off of that
- 18:11Speaker 13: overtime loss on Saturday, Coach.
- 18:13Speaker 11: Yes, and it's been inside the building as well. Our
- 18:16Speaker 11: guys have had great urgency to be able to go
- 18:18Speaker 11: fix the things we need to fix. They understand we've
- 18:20Speaker 11: got and a great challenge ahead of us, a great
- 18:22Speaker 11: opportunity ahead of us as we get ready to try
- 18:26Speaker 11: to fight like heck to go one and on Saturday
- 18:28Speaker 11: before we get into this open date.
- 18:30Speaker 13: And affecting the quarterback and especially a mobile quarterback. Well,
- 18:34Speaker 13: how tell me about those challenges, in particular defensively of
- 18:39Speaker 13: dealing with a Marcel Reid on Saturday.
- 18:41Speaker 11: Coach. Yeah, just again from a rush integrity standpoint, being
- 18:48Speaker 11: able to make the tackle in space one on one,
- 18:51Speaker 11: those things create stress, and we do. We've got to
- 18:55Speaker 11: be incredibly disciplined situationally to be able to do exactly
- 18:58Speaker 11: what I just said. We got to get him down
- 19:00Speaker 11: when we're one on one, and if we're a contained Russia,
- 19:03Speaker 11: we got to contain and just do our one of
- 19:05Speaker 11: eleven Coach.
- 19:07Speaker 1: One of the things Coach Elko said this week is
- 19:10Speaker 1: when he watches film, he likes to watch the sideline
- 19:13Speaker 1: to see how engage the players are, and he talked
- 19:16Speaker 1: about your team on the sideline and how engaged they
- 19:20Speaker 1: are and committed. How did you bring that about given
- 19:25Speaker 1: what has happened with this program the last three or
- 19:27Speaker 1: four years.
- 19:28Speaker 11: Yeah, but hopefully it's just my day to day and
- 19:31Speaker 11: how we operate as a staff, and just knowing that
- 19:35Speaker 11: there is there's great belief inside our walls, and we
- 19:38Speaker 11: believe in our guys to be able to go play
- 19:40Speaker 11: really well and execute at a high level. And our
- 19:43Speaker 11: guys have taken to that and energy and effort and
- 19:47Speaker 11: attitude all those things in their choice and we are
- 19:51Speaker 11: we're incredibly fortunate to be able to get to do
- 19:53Speaker 11: what we do, So be thankful and grateful for it
- 19:55Speaker 11: and let that piece of the show.
- 19:57Speaker 13: Coach. I know we've talked about clean up penalties the
- 20:01Speaker 13: last couple of weeks overall, how do you think that
- 20:03Speaker 13: process is going for your team?
- 20:05Speaker 11: Coach? Yeah, Again, offensively is for us. Last week we
- 20:08Speaker 11: were much much better special teams, We're incredibly clean with
- 20:12Speaker 11: no penalties on teams, and then defensively the two just
- 20:16Speaker 11: really really critical penalties that we have to take out.
- 20:19Speaker 11: We're on one of their touchdown drives where we give
- 20:21Speaker 11: them thirty yards in penalties and again that has to
- 20:26Speaker 11: get taken out. We have not done that defensively, but
- 20:30Speaker 11: again we've got to make sure that all phases. Man,
- 20:32Speaker 11: We're continuing to clean that up.
- 20:34Speaker 10: Coach, I wanted to ask about Jeron Manning and the
- 20:37Speaker 10: work that he's done for you. It seems like maybe
- 20:40Speaker 10: a talent who has overlooked for a couple of years
- 20:42Speaker 10: in his college career. What has he brought some joining
- 20:46Speaker 10: your team and joining a really talented safety room.
- 20:50Speaker 11: Yeah, I think j man just the fact that he
- 20:52Speaker 11: loves football and loves the opportunity to get every single
- 20:55Speaker 11: day to be able to go practice, become a better player,
- 20:58Speaker 11: and then have a great impact on the game. And
- 21:01Speaker 11: he's what you want.
- 21:02Speaker 14: Hey, coach, I wondered if you could just talk about
- 21:06Speaker 14: the impact that Brennan Thompson and Jerra Bledsoe have had
- 21:13Speaker 14: on your team so far this season.
- 21:16Speaker 11: Yeah. Both those guys obviously impact players for US. Brennan,
- 21:21Speaker 11: you know, he is hopefully getting healthier and I think
- 21:23Speaker 11: he is in a better place than he was a
- 21:25Speaker 11: wee could go today and looking for big things out
- 21:27Speaker 11: of him Saturday. Jerra has come in and had a great,
- 21:32Speaker 11: great impact trying to create consistency with him daily. But man,
- 21:37Speaker 11: he's doing a great job and got a chance to
- 21:40Speaker 11: be a special player. So both those guys have been
- 21:42Speaker 11: impact players for US.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:45Speaker 14: What is it about Gerra? You know, I know he's
- 21:48Speaker 14: kind of crazy athletic and bendy and what stands out
- 21:53Speaker 14: about him?
- 21:53Speaker 11: Yeah, exactly what you just said. He is different athletically.
- 21:58Speaker 11: It is a very very powerful, full, twitchy, explosive player
- 22:03Speaker 11: that can do a lot of different things, whether it's
- 22:05Speaker 11: affecting the run game or being able to isolate him
- 22:08Speaker 11: and giving him the ability to go rush on third downs,
- 22:12Speaker 11: and he can affect it a lot of different ways.
- 22:15Speaker 14: And how big were Brennan Thompson's plays in that Arizona
- 22:18Speaker 14: State game?
- 22:21Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean again the game winner obviously, and the
- 22:23Speaker 11: touchdown there that he may be incredible play tracking it
- 22:28Speaker 11: over his shoulder. Both those plays were huge and again
- 22:31Speaker 11: for US, man, giving him the ability to continue to
- 22:34Speaker 11: do that will be a big part of our success.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Jeff Levey, he coaches at Mississippi State. So far he
- 22:41Speaker 1: has done things that frankly didn't have a lot of
- 22:47Speaker 1: confidence that they could do, but as I asked him about,
- 22:53Speaker 1: and has been mentioned he has guys believing they should
- 22:59Speaker 1: have eaten Tennessee last week. They did not. That would
- 23:04Speaker 1: be interesting to have them coming in five and oh
- 23:06Speaker 1: and then they would have been ranked with that win
- 23:09Speaker 1: against Tennessee. They lost in overtime, but you know, they
- 23:14Speaker 1: did beat Arizona State, which is looking like a decent win.
- 23:18Speaker 1: You know, it was the second game of the year.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Arizona State went to start Vegas and Mississippi State won
- 23:25Speaker 1: that game twenty four to twenty. And like I said, it,
- 23:30Speaker 1: you go, you know it's Arizona State. And then I
- 23:33Speaker 1: think Arizona State took a loss. And then then you know,
- 23:37Speaker 1: you saw what they've done a couple of times they've
- 23:41Speaker 1: they've looked, they've looked decent. So not a bad win.
- 23:47Speaker 1: It would be a lot better win for them Saturday
- 23:49Speaker 1: night at Kyle Field. And don't see that happening. But
- 23:59Speaker 1: Blake Shapan is a good quarterback. He hasn't been healthy
- 24:03Speaker 1: a lot during his career. When he has been healthy,
- 24:06Speaker 1: including last year, when he has been healthy, he's been good.
- 24:10Speaker 1: He's been good this year. He's been good throwing the
- 24:13Speaker 1: ball and moving around, and they've they've gotten pretty good
- 24:19Speaker 1: quarterback play. Which is a good reason why they're They're
- 24:22Speaker 1: four and one coming in, So see what happens uh
- 24:28Speaker 1: Saturday night. That game is at six point thirty. I'm
- 24:31Speaker 1: looking at the at the schedule, and I man, it's
- 24:35Speaker 1: pretty light. Well, the reason it's light is that Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, Ole,
- 24:46Speaker 1: miss Missouri, South Carolina, and Tennessee are all off this week.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Not kidding, seven half the field is off this week.
- 25:01Speaker 1: In the SEC, there are a couple of intriguing games.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I mean, Kentucky's at Georgia. To me, that's not so intriguing,
- 25:09Speaker 1: although at Kentucky last year it was thirteen to twelve
- 25:13Speaker 1: against a team I think Georgia was a better team
- 25:16Speaker 1: last year than they are this year defensively. Vanderbilt is
- 25:22Speaker 1: at Alabama. What is this spread on that game? Okayleb
- 25:26Speaker 1: it was around two touchdowns? Are close? I thought it
- 25:32Speaker 1: was close to two touchdowns, but tinnish ten and a half. Okay,
- 25:43Speaker 1: pretty intriguing game, you know, Vanderbilt, I mean Clark Lee
- 25:51Speaker 1: has done a job.
- 25:53Speaker 11: You know.
- 25:55Speaker 1: They You know, when I went to South Carolina when
- 25:59Speaker 1: thirty one seven, you're going, WHOA, Now, I know South
- 26:02Speaker 1: Carolina is not not real good as it turns out.
- 26:05Speaker 1: But they're in Tuscaloosa.
- 26:12Speaker 15: It is a.
- 26:14Speaker 1: National TV game tomorrow, and we remember what happened last
- 26:19Speaker 1: year in Nashville. That's a two thirty ABC game Saturday afternoon.
- 26:25Speaker 1: That's we'll we'll see I and we'll see you know.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Is Alabama a little bit hungover from last week at Georgia.
- 26:33Speaker 1: I mean they have to be. I mean they they
- 26:37Speaker 1: they like I've said all week, they killed each other
- 26:40Speaker 1: last Saturday night. I mean they have to be sore
- 26:45Speaker 1: getting ready to host Vanderbilt on Saturday. So I just
- 26:51Speaker 1: I find that interesting. Just we're, you know, with a
- 26:54Speaker 1: game slot and it's like, hey, we've been reminded all
- 26:57Speaker 1: week what happened last year. Yeah, you can do that
- 26:59Speaker 1: to your in the face. But if you're getting out
- 27:01Speaker 1: of bed and everything you're walking is hurting because of
- 27:05Speaker 1: the game a week ago and because of the emotion
- 27:07Speaker 1: that was poured out, I'll just be interested to see
- 27:10Speaker 1: how Alabama comes out. And Texas, I don't know what
- 27:16Speaker 1: you're getting from them. I'm not I have no idea.
- 27:21Speaker 1: They're the last one to play a conference game in
- 27:23Speaker 1: the league. They're the only team that has not played
- 27:25Speaker 1: a conference game. They're at Florida tomorrow. Historically, Florida has
- 27:30Speaker 1: been a difficult place to go in and win a game. Yeah,
- 27:34Speaker 1: I know they haven't been very good. We talked about Lagway,
- 27:38Speaker 1: you know, having some injury issues. They have had a
- 27:42Speaker 1: hard time scoring points, a very hard time scoring points.
- 27:46Speaker 1: They played Miami really well if you'll remember two weeks ago,
- 27:51Speaker 1: but they couldn't score Defensively, I think Florida's pretty good defensively.
- 27:57Speaker 1: I think Texas is pretty good. I think this could
- 28:01Speaker 1: be a low scoring football game on Saturday afternoon, and
- 28:07Speaker 1: I have no idea, no idea what to expect. And
- 28:14Speaker 1: I'm not sure Sarkisian knows what to expect. I think
- 28:20Speaker 1: he would like to see arch Manning come out and
- 28:22Speaker 1: complete a few passes in the first quarter. They have
- 28:27Speaker 1: been beat up a little bit. They're probably getting one
- 28:31Speaker 1: of their two running backs back, Wisner, who's good. They
- 28:36Speaker 1: hadn't had any issues because they hadn't played anybody since
- 28:39Speaker 1: their running backs have been hurt. Baxter probably won't play tomorrow.
- 28:46Speaker 1: He's listed I think is doubtful on the injury report.
- 28:50Speaker 1: So I have no idea. I just I think that's
- 28:53Speaker 1: going to be an interesting game. And I don't think
- 29:00Speaker 1: Florida has quit yet. They have had an open date
- 29:03Speaker 1: since the loss to Miami. There's lots of stuff swirling around, right.
- 29:11Speaker 1: They lost at LSU and that was a close game.
- 29:17Speaker 1: They had a horrible loss at home to South Florida.
- 29:24Speaker 1: So I don't know. I have they quit. I don't know.
- 29:28Speaker 1: I have a feeling they're going to play pretty well,
- 29:32Speaker 1: or as well as they can play on Saturday. So
- 29:36Speaker 1: we'll see what happens. SEP Tech Service Center twenty two
- 29:39Speaker 1: hundred Longmar, just down from the Post Office in College Station,
- 29:41Speaker 1: open right now. They're open until six o'clock this evening.
- 29:45Speaker 1: They're open all day Tomorrow, seven to six, and they're
- 29:48Speaker 1: open on Saturday from seven to four. They understand that
- 29:51Speaker 1: sometimes you just can't get in during the week because
- 29:55Speaker 1: the job everything happens, and you look up and it's
- 29:58Speaker 1: already Friday and you meant to go.
- 30:00Speaker 16: Oh.
- 30:01Speaker 1: They can take care of you, whether it's something as
- 30:04Speaker 1: simple as an oil change around back something a little
- 30:08Speaker 1: bit more complicated. The folks at sebchecks have been taken
- 30:11Speaker 1: care of automobiles in the Brasses Valley for over half
- 30:14Speaker 1: a century, and Pat is carrying on the Sebcheck family
- 30:18Speaker 1: tradition of integrity of service of just customer relations. If
- 30:29Speaker 1: you haven't been by, you need to go. It's Sepcheck
- 30:33Speaker 1: Service Center twenty two hundred longmyre just down from the
- 30:36Speaker 1: post office in College Station.
- 30:39Speaker 17: You know, every time we do one of the CNJ
- 30:41Speaker 17: barbecue commercials, they tell us to come up with something clever,
- 30:44Speaker 17: But honestly, I never knew what to say.
- 30:46Speaker 6: How about we're CNJ Barbecue. We make barbecue. It's good.
- 30:50Speaker 6: People like it. That's why we've been here smoking meats
- 30:53Speaker 6: and fill and belly since the eighties.
- 30:55Speaker 17: Well, I guess that sums it up.
- 30:56Speaker 6: So if you're hungry, come see us. If you need
- 30:59Speaker 6: more convincing, well maybe you just don't like happiness.
- 31:02Speaker 17: Either way, we'll be here smoking meat like we always do,
- 31:05Speaker 17: serving up happiness on a tray.
- 31:07Speaker 6: CNJ Barbecue.

- 31:44Speaker 9: I'm Sony Loved fifty am in ninety three point seven FM.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Welcome to the High School Report.
- 32:22Speaker 19: I'm at Williams and today we're going out to the
- 32:24Speaker 19: Polaris Fun Center from Round to visit with head football
- 32:26Speaker 19: coach for the Rudder Rangers, Eric Izar.
- 32:28Speaker 1: How are you doing today?
- 32:30Speaker 16: Doing great?
- 32:31Speaker 19: Awesome coach? In the first few weeks of the season
- 32:33Speaker 19: have been harder than last season. What do you think
- 32:35Speaker 19: is the biggest challenge for your team so far this year?
- 32:38Speaker 11: Oh, you know, I just think we have a lot
- 32:40Speaker 11: of young guys.
- 32:40Speaker 16: We got three freshmen playing big minutes, got about fourteen
- 32:44Speaker 16: sophomores playing a lot, so you know, we're just young
- 32:47Speaker 16: and trying to you know, trying to learn that speed
- 32:51Speaker 16: of five a of varsity football.
- 32:54Speaker 19: And how has it been trying to bring those young
- 32:59Speaker 19: guys into a leaders position. Do you think they're stepping
- 33:01Speaker 19: up to the plate pretty well?
- 33:03Speaker 16: Well, you know, I think so. I think, you know,
- 33:05Speaker 16: winning cures all and that's what we got to go
- 33:07Speaker 16: out this Friday night and go get us a win.
- 33:09Speaker 16: And so I think we have some really good leaders.
- 33:12Speaker 16: We have some great kids. You know, we just got
- 33:14Speaker 16: grades coming out and by all varsity kids passed. I
- 33:17Speaker 16: think we only lost three or four on the jv
- 33:20Speaker 16: three or four on the freshman, which is the best
- 33:21Speaker 16: we've done academically. That's a great thing to get started.
- 33:25Speaker 16: Our leaders have been great keeping everybody keeping their heads
- 33:28Speaker 16: up and stuff. So like we can turn the corner
- 33:30Speaker 16: and district and you know, we were six and oh,
- 33:33Speaker 16: you know, or last year at the time, we're four
- 33:35Speaker 16: and oh and now we're rowing four. But last year,
- 33:37Speaker 16: you know, we lost some big games in district. So
- 33:39Speaker 16: really we haven't you know, hurt ourselves at all. We
- 33:41Speaker 16: just got to get ourselves playing when we roll in
- 33:44Speaker 16: the district.
- 33:45Speaker 19: That's a good mindset. And what has been the biggest surprise,
- 33:48Speaker 19: positive or negative about this year's squad compared to the
- 33:51Speaker 19: preseason expectations that you have for them.
- 33:54Speaker 16: I mean, I mean, I think we kind of knew
- 33:55Speaker 16: this was going to happen. We had so many young kids,
- 33:58Speaker 16: you know, we had a lot of kids graduate last year.
- 34:00Speaker 16: You know, the ball hasn't bounced really the way we
- 34:03Speaker 16: wanted to in a few games. I mean the con
- 34:04Speaker 16: of the game. I think that's a game we could
- 34:06Speaker 16: have won. You know, another two could have been a
- 34:08Speaker 16: little bit closer. This ball just kind of bounced the
- 34:11Speaker 16: way wrong way. You know, we got beat a few
- 34:13Speaker 16: times deep. You know, it just may haven't made some
- 34:16Speaker 16: plays on offense that we need to do, drop a
- 34:19Speaker 16: few passes. So I think once we solidify that the
- 34:22Speaker 16: winning will start.
- 34:24Speaker 19: And and what are in terms of losses, what problems
- 34:28Speaker 19: have occurred that you've noticed. Do you think it's just
- 34:31Speaker 19: a general like, you know, kind of the jitters and
- 34:34Speaker 19: these kids are young and they're getting into the swing
- 34:36Speaker 19: of things, or is there like a consistent problem that
- 34:39Speaker 19: you're trying to fix off the field.
- 34:42Speaker 16: Well, no, I mean I think we've had some just
- 34:44Speaker 16: inconsistencies jumping off sides. We don't have the maybe the
- 34:48Speaker 16: Jacques Martins and stuff that we've had. In the pass
- 34:50Speaker 16: where you're third and fifteen, you can throw up a
- 34:52Speaker 16: ball and he goes and gets it, you know that
- 34:53Speaker 16: kind of stuff, you know, defensively, just kind of being
- 34:57Speaker 16: sure we're in the right place. It's for a lot
- 34:59Speaker 16: of kids, this is new varsity level bands playing. You know,
- 35:02Speaker 16: they a little bit nervous. We've dropped some wide open passes,
- 35:06Speaker 16: you know, and all that just takes time. It's almost
- 35:08Speaker 16: if they were I almost wish I could put them
- 35:09Speaker 16: in the microwave, make them grow up a little faster.
- 35:11Speaker 16: But it's just, you know, it is what it is.
- 35:13Speaker 19: Yeah. Speaking of which, in our last interview, we talked
- 35:16Speaker 19: about leaders that were leaving the team like Jackith Martin.
- 35:19Speaker 19: How have you worked to renew the team identity and
- 35:21Speaker 19: culture without those veteran leaders and how do you think
- 35:24Speaker 19: that has gone? Well?
- 35:25Speaker 16: You know, I'm really been proud of our leaders. I mean,
- 35:27Speaker 16: you know, we got Brandon Brown, who's a really good
- 35:30Speaker 16: leader for us, who's kind of kept telling everybody keep
- 35:33Speaker 16: their head up.
- 35:34Speaker 19: J D.
- 35:34Speaker 16: Durns has definitely been doing that. Shanna doy I leave
- 35:38Speaker 16: a AJ Morrison. Those guys have really been JD. Ballard
- 35:42Speaker 16: really leading offensive line. Amari Gibson, who's a kid who
- 35:45Speaker 16: who's really come a million miles as far as his
- 35:48Speaker 16: character and who he is, has really been kind of
- 35:50Speaker 16: one of our best players and telling everybody to keep
- 35:52Speaker 16: their head up. Nobody likes to lose, especially me, but
- 35:56Speaker 16: you know that's just sometimes part of life. I mean,
- 35:59Speaker 16: you know, you never really lose, You're just learning. And
- 36:02Speaker 16: so that's kind of our mindset right now is just
- 36:04Speaker 16: keep learning and get better. And when District gets here,
- 36:06Speaker 16: we got to get some wins and get in the playoffs.
- 36:08Speaker 19: Yeah. And when you look back through the season so far,
- 36:10Speaker 19: which games do you feel revealed the most about your
- 36:14Speaker 19: team's identity and style of play this year?
- 36:17Speaker 16: Well, we probably played best against Lugerville Conley. You know,
- 36:20Speaker 16: we got ahead of them, weren't able to hold on
- 36:22Speaker 16: to it, you know, but we were able to make
- 36:25Speaker 16: some plays and get the ball on the end zone
- 36:27Speaker 16: and stop them. So that probably think comic game probably.
- 36:31Speaker 19: And which players have surprised you this season, like either
- 36:34Speaker 19: positively stepping up to the plate I know you talked
- 36:36Speaker 19: about one already, or maybe in terms of growth that
- 36:40Speaker 19: you were surprised to see.
- 36:41Speaker 16: Yeah, I mean, I just I mean Aj Morrison's kind
- 36:44Speaker 16: of our overall best player right now, and he's done
- 36:46Speaker 16: a good job of stepping up and being who he
- 36:48Speaker 16: was supposed to be. You know, the young kids, you know,
- 36:50Speaker 16: we're just kind of waiting for them to step up. So,
- 36:52Speaker 16: I mean, it's just kind of we're kind of waiting
- 36:54Speaker 16: to see on that. But I would say a Marien
- 36:55Speaker 16: Gibson definitely on defense, he's really stepped up, a kid
- 36:58Speaker 16: who who's come along way. Brandon Brown has been very
- 37:01Speaker 16: good on defense. He's our emotional leader, probably our best
- 37:06Speaker 16: player on defense. I would say those two. And then
- 37:08Speaker 16: you know Aj Morson of course the way he's played.
- 37:10Speaker 19: Yeah, of course, what are you expecting from Willa Ridge's Friday?
- 37:14Speaker 19: How are you preparing and how do you think your
- 37:16Speaker 19: teams will clash in terms of play style?
- 37:19Speaker 16: Well, I mean, you know, we're very similar. I mean
- 37:21Speaker 16: we don't have the depth. I mean, we both have
- 37:23Speaker 16: about the similar depth as far as number of kids
- 37:24Speaker 16: in the program. So it's a good matchup for us.
- 37:27Speaker 16: You know, they've got a good team. They've got some
- 37:29Speaker 16: really athletic kids, you know, and so I think it's
- 37:31Speaker 16: a good matchup for us. So it'll be good and challenging.
- 37:34Speaker 16: Hope we can go out and get.
- 37:35Speaker 19: Our first win and looking forward this season, what matchups
- 37:40Speaker 19: are you anticipating the most, what are you doing to
- 37:42Speaker 19: prepare for them? And how would you define success for
- 37:44Speaker 19: the Runner program of their twenty twenty five season.
- 37:48Speaker 16: Well, one is just getting better every week, you know,
- 37:50Speaker 16: trying to be better than were the next week. I mean,
- 37:52Speaker 16: we felt like we kind of took a little bit
- 37:53Speaker 16: of step back against Nakadoshi's. We thought we were really
- 37:55Speaker 16: heading in the right direction after Conley. But you know
- 37:58Speaker 16: nagadoses is take anything away from They have a really
- 38:01Speaker 16: good football team and you know, a good competition. I'll
- 38:04Speaker 16: hopefully get us ready for distric because we're gonna have
- 38:06Speaker 16: a lot of good competition in district. So you know,
- 38:08Speaker 16: we got a lot of good teams in district. Waco
- 38:10Speaker 16: University's the first district game, so that's the one we
- 38:12Speaker 16: got to get ready for.
- 38:13Speaker 19: Right, Thank you so much for your time, coach.
- 38:16Speaker 16: All right, no problem, Russ.
- 38:25Speaker 20: Bring the whole family to any of our three area locations.
- 38:28Speaker 20: We have plenty of choices for everyone. Try our fried
- 38:31Speaker 20: chicken express tenders or our ever popular livers and gizzards,
- 38:34Speaker 20: and enjoy our express fish all day at all three
- 38:37Speaker 20: locations of Chicken Express.
- 38:40Speaker 15: Audi Patrick Kenning here with your Gilmore Electric Express light

- 40:58Speaker 23: paramount for the offense to a multi dimensional the same
- 41:01Speaker 23: way it was against the Titans. The Texans were equally

- 41:32Speaker 24: So he's certainly worked really hard. He's improved, and honestly,
- 41:36Speaker 24: he's been consistent, even going back to training camp, and
- 41:38Speaker 24: he took advantage of his opportunities in the game, had
- 41:40Speaker 24: a few more opportunities and was able to capitalize on those.

- 44:01Speaker 1: eighth Inning the cubs have put a run on the
- 44:04Speaker 1: board in the bottom of, the second still have The
- 44:06Speaker 1: bases loadeds won to Nothing Over san diego and that
- 44:10Speaker 1: deciding Game you darvish is already out as the Starter For.
- 44:16Speaker 1: San diego he's either gonna throw a perfect game at
- 44:20Speaker 1: you or he'll be out in the. Second inning and
- 44:23Speaker 1: he just drove me crazy With. THE rangers I told
- 44:26Speaker 1: caleb that If you Darvish Had greg maddox's head on,
- 44:29Speaker 1: HIS shoulders i don't think anybody would have ever hit,
- 44:33Speaker 1: him ever because his stuff was just. So nasty but
- 44:38Speaker 1: he just he didn't have, the temperament in, my opinion
- 44:44Speaker 1: and the dog in him to be the kind of
- 44:48Speaker 1: pitcher you would want with a guy, LIKE that i.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Mean seriously And Then Red sox. Yankees tonight So that's

- 45:17Speaker 1: getting ready to Face the Bulldogs on. Saturday, night well
- 45:22Speaker 1: how did y'all.
- 45:24Speaker 11: How did y'all shut Down that auburn?
- 45:26Speaker 17: Pass came?
- 45:26Speaker 27: In Particular, Cam, coleman really just the scheme we have
- 45:31Speaker 27: put in for, that week, you know we really focused,
- 45:33Speaker 27: on him and we, just noticed, like say he has
- 45:35Speaker 27: like we have like ten plays in, the drive like
- 45:37Speaker 27: seven of those ten players are going. To, him so,
- 45:40Speaker 27: you know just having a big athletic receiver, like that
- 45:42Speaker 27: we got to take into account that he's going to.
- 45:44Speaker 27: Be dangerous so just really the scheme that set forth to.
- 45:47Speaker 15: Stop him does that give y'all this idea that, you
- 45:52Speaker 15: know if whatever team whatever receivers, out there that you're
- 45:55Speaker 15: going to be able to do the.
- 45:56Speaker 27: Same, thing yeah we can do that with everybody in.
- 45:58Speaker 27: The league, you know like everybody's gonna have. A receiver,
- 46:00Speaker 27: you know were playing the uh best conference in. THE
- 46:02Speaker 27: world i, feel like so everybody's gonna have that great
- 46:05Speaker 27: receiver and he's gonna be. A problem so we just
- 46:06Speaker 27: got to find that scheme to suit them and do
- 46:08Speaker 27: what we need to do to.
- 46:09Speaker 24: Stop him would you just says your play individually through
- 46:13Speaker 24: these first, four.
- 46:13Speaker 27: Games, you know just really just. Focused up, YOU know
- 46:16Speaker 27: i had a little rough starting in, the beginning and
- 46:18Speaker 27: you know that's just me. Being human, you know can't
- 46:20Speaker 27: slack and, you know Like coach eko says all, the
- 46:22Speaker 27: time when, you slack, you know that's when things started.
- 46:24Speaker 27: Going downhill so had to pick it up, real quick
- 46:27Speaker 27: you know and get back to my. Normal SELF and
- 46:29Speaker 27: i showed that During The auburn So now i'm back
- 46:30Speaker 27: on a. Good pace and, you know if that confidence
- 46:32Speaker 27: is back flowing last week because you.
- 46:34Speaker 19: Guys in the best defensive performance of, the year anything
- 46:36Speaker 19: feel different leading up?
- 46:37Speaker 7: To it and what was maybe Different?
- 46:38Speaker 21: On?
- 46:38Speaker 27: SATURDAY uh i don't think there was, nothing different, YOU
- 46:41Speaker 27: know i just feel like the defense. Locked in, you
- 46:42Speaker 27: know the offense picked us up During The notre, dame
- 46:45Speaker 27: game and we did the same thing During the. Auburn
- 46:47Speaker 27: game so it's just a, team sport, you know when somebody,
- 46:49Speaker 27: needs help we gonna help each.
- 46:50Speaker 11: Other out how much.
- 46:51Speaker 12: Fun are third Downs Under.
- 46:52Speaker 27: Mike elko and, This defense oh it's, real fun, you
- 46:55Speaker 27: know especially when we have them in third and long
- 46:57Speaker 27: and just WATCHING the d line get the t off
- 46:58Speaker 27: on them and it just makes me drop. Real easy so,
- 47:01Speaker 27: you know like just playing playing with that that mobamb
- 47:05Speaker 27: but and everything in the stadium that also adds a plus.
- 47:07Speaker 12: To it, so yeah those is.
- 47:09Speaker 1: That different than you've seen With?
- 47:12Speaker 14: Under elko?
- 47:12Speaker 1: Third downs just the nature of.
- 47:15Speaker 27: Them, AGAINS yeah i could say like he's putting more swag.
- 47:18Speaker 27: To it, you know he's just letting the d line
- 47:20Speaker 27: get their little different stunts and their different twists and
- 47:22Speaker 27: everything like that and just letting them have fun and go.
- 47:25Speaker 27: At it, SO yeah i feel like it's a.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Little different we just go down and Talk. To tyreek
- 47:29Speaker 1: what's different when he comes back about?
- 47:31Speaker 27: The, secondary uh, You know tyreek's a, big player like in.
- 47:34Speaker 27: Our defense, you know last year losing him was it,
- 47:36Speaker 27: was hard, you know like having that great lockdown player
- 47:39Speaker 27: in the nickel and who could fit the run and
- 47:41Speaker 27: just a vet guy in, the defense, you know like
- 47:43Speaker 27: he was here before Me with elko when he WAS
- 47:45Speaker 27: the dc. And everything so having a vet guy that
- 47:47Speaker 27: really knows the defense and knows what needs to be
- 47:49Speaker 27: run through on the secondary on the back end is.
- 47:51Speaker 27: Really huge so having him back is.
- 47:53Speaker 19: Really big looking Ahead The.
- 47:55Speaker 12: Mississippi State jeff lovey obviously a very offensive heavy coach in.
- 47:59Speaker 27: Multiple just what we see from them, So, far uh,
- 48:02Speaker 27: you know they got. Great receivers, you know they got
- 48:04Speaker 27: they got a few receivers that are uh that, are good,
- 48:07Speaker 27: you know and they're, real explosive, you know watching Them
- 48:09Speaker 27: play tennessee, last week like this a real, explosive offense
- 48:12Speaker 27: and they're, real efficient so they make a lot of
- 48:14Speaker 27: guys miss and make a lot of guys. Mess up
- 48:16Speaker 27: so we just got to play locked in and just
- 48:17Speaker 27: stay true to everything you had.
- 48:19Speaker 14: Mentioned that Last Year mario frar was the.
- 48:21Speaker 5: Toughest, cover yeah you.
- 48:22Speaker 27: Guys had but what jumped out about that game you
- 48:26Speaker 27: went against him and And had what made him such
- 48:30Speaker 27: a tough cover really, their scheme, You, Know Uh mississippi
- 48:33Speaker 27: state kind of has a similar offense To the. Tennessee
- 48:35Speaker 27: offense they really have wide splits with, their receivers so
- 48:38Speaker 27: really the scheme of having them really spaced out and
- 48:40Speaker 27: then having just an explosive Receiver like mario just going
- 48:43Speaker 27: in motion where you can't get hands. On them, You
- 48:45Speaker 27: know like my big thing is like getting hands on
- 48:48Speaker 27: guys and disrupting time and stuff. Like That So mississippi
- 48:50Speaker 27: state did a real good job with him and having
- 48:52Speaker 27: them go in motion and snapping the ball when he's on.
- 48:54Speaker 27: The run so just doing things like that just made it.
- 48:57Speaker 27: Real Difficult so i'm just glad he's on. Our Team
- 48:59Speaker 27: speak mario.
- 49:00Speaker 19: Was, you know did he talk about the the offense
- 49:02Speaker 19: kind of some uh scouting, part there maybe some of
- 49:04Speaker 19: the receivers how to.
- 49:05Speaker 27: Attack them, oh no we haven't spoke with him recently about.
- 49:07Speaker 27: The offense, you know we're just going to our scheme
- 49:09Speaker 27: and watching the past few games and games from. Last
- 49:11Speaker 27: year so that's all we're looking forward to. Right now.
- 49:16Speaker 23: Since how have you seen him take big strips?
- 49:18Speaker 27: And something, oh yeah that's, my dog, You KNOW like
- 49:21Speaker 27: i always Knew what dez, could do, you know like
- 49:23Speaker 27: everybody else is like shocked and seeing what. He DOES
- 49:25Speaker 27: like i see it all. The time so just Playing
- 49:28Speaker 27: with deadz like since last year and then even like
- 49:30Speaker 27: dad probably don't. EVEN know i Really knew deadz when
- 49:33Speaker 27: he GOT, To img SO like i always been, watching
- 49:35Speaker 27: him Even though, i'm older, YOU know i always watch.
- 49:37Speaker 27: Everybody's game But like dez was always, A baller so
- 49:40Speaker 27: maybe just need a little confidence and just get used
- 49:42Speaker 27: to the system a. Little, More, so yeah this is, A, dog.
- 49:45Speaker 20: Mario here's The portal i'll send if.
- 49:47Speaker 1: You notice and how before were you with, The, staff,
- 49:50Speaker 1: like hey this is the guy we?
- 49:51Speaker 19: Got?
- 49:51Speaker 27: Here good, OH yeah. I knew i knew he was gonna.
- 49:54Speaker 11: Get.
- 49:54Speaker 27: HIM uh I always i Take to mario when he entered.
- 49:56Speaker 27: THE port i, was, like bro you need to. Come,
- 49:57Speaker 27: here bro like this is the fit. For you like
- 49:59Speaker 27: AND plus i don't wanna guard you if you go.
- 50:01Speaker 27: Anywhere else and, you know we.
- 50:02Speaker 13: Laughed about it.
- 50:03Speaker 27: And everything and THEN when i saw he, CAME here i,
- 50:05Speaker 27: WAS like i. WASN'T surprised i just told, him like
- 50:06Speaker 27: let's get, the, work bro you know. It's good, so
- 50:08Speaker 27: yeah and he saw to him on his visit and
- 50:11Speaker 27: and kind of you don't, uh, ADDITIONALLY no i haven't.
- 50:15Speaker 27: SEEN him i didn't see him on.
- 50:16Speaker 25: His.
- 50:16Speaker 27: VISIT uh i saw him when we f when we
- 50:19Speaker 27: all reported back and like the, first day like, you
- 50:21Speaker 27: know we just chatting, it up and he told, me,
- 50:22Speaker 27: Like bro i'm ready to get, to work, you know like,
- 50:24Speaker 27: you know Being At, Missippi state, He's like i'm ready.
- 50:26Speaker 27: To win so, you know we got.
- 50:27Speaker 1: It done it's someone with a.
- 50:29Speaker 26: Fun nickname what do you think Of A mari knifel
- 50:31Speaker 26: Actually Gameing.
- 50:32Speaker 27: Jurrassic, JURRASTIC no i. Like it and he got the
- 50:34Speaker 27: little celebration a. Little, dinosaur yeah. That's fire it's. DIFFERENT
- 50:38Speaker 27: too i like it, for really like just seeing him
- 50:40Speaker 27: go out there and, ball too like. That's fun just
- 50:42Speaker 27: like being around those guys in the locker room and
- 50:44Speaker 27: just knowing they stories and just seeing him going out
- 50:46Speaker 27: there and play and like showcase their talent and then
- 50:48Speaker 27: showcase like their personality is real fun.
- 50:51Speaker 3: To, see yeah it with him in particular and being a,
- 50:54Speaker 3: tight end but practicing with.
- 50:56Speaker 14: Receivers too just so what's the challenge of covering a
- 50:58Speaker 14: guy that has that kind?
- 50:59Speaker 1: Of field and it's.
- 51:00Speaker 27: Really good, it's different, you know like sometimes you have
- 51:04Speaker 27: him at like the tight end position where he'll check
- 51:06Speaker 27: the edge and, then release and then you'll have him
- 51:08Speaker 27: at the wide receiver position and he has the whole
- 51:10Speaker 27: route tree he can run and it's not like, he's slow,
- 51:13Speaker 27: You know like he's really a twenty, one guy like
- 51:15Speaker 27: a twenty miles.
- 51:15Speaker 24: Prior guy so he's.
- 51:16Speaker 27: Real dangerous so if you sit your, feet flat like
- 51:19Speaker 27: he'll take the. Top off so it's real dangerous to
- 51:21Speaker 27: play against him all.
- 51:22Speaker 24: The time why does this.
- 51:23Speaker 1: Team make so many penalation and how do you stop?
- 51:24Speaker 27: That hight we just gotta be, more disciplined. You know
- 51:27Speaker 27: we gotta focus on the little details and do what
- 51:29Speaker 27: we need to do and then we'll. Eliminate that we'll be.
- 51:31Speaker 27: Just fine, you know like we put up four hundred
- 51:33Speaker 27: plus yards of all total OFFENSE Against, uh auburn but
- 51:36Speaker 27: a lot of those penalties set. Us back so we
- 51:38Speaker 27: just gotta be a little more disciplined and do what
- 51:39Speaker 27: we need to do and let the outside stuff be
- 51:41Speaker 27: the outside stuff and focus on everything inside. The circle
- 51:44Speaker 27: ob sleeved.
- 51:44Speaker 18: Here too.
- 51:45Speaker 12: For you what feels different about this team than?
- 51:47Speaker 1: LAST?
- 51:47Speaker 27: YEAR uh i feel like, the togetherness, you know like
- 51:50Speaker 27: a lot of the guys really bought in and a
- 51:52Speaker 27: lot of the guys are really Bought into. Echo's playing,
- 51:55Speaker 27: you know like we all wanna win and we all
- 51:57Speaker 27: want the end goal of being national, champions secampions so
- 52:00Speaker 27: we really just had to buy in and really understand
- 52:03Speaker 27: the process of. Getting there so that's the real focus
- 52:06Speaker 27: that everybody understands on.
- 52:07Speaker 28: The, team now how much more does it help with
- 52:09Speaker 28: that buy in having seen the success that folks out.
- 52:12Speaker 27: The ball of paddle the, guilt part it means, a lot,
- 52:14Speaker 27: you know and it's like it's really the trust factor,
- 52:16Speaker 27: of it, you know like the offense trust, the defense
- 52:18Speaker 27: and the defense trust, the offense and, you know we
- 52:20Speaker 27: know if something, goes wrong we're gonna pick each. Other up,
- 52:22Speaker 27: so like that's the whole thing that's roy that focused
- 52:25Speaker 27: on the team is just the trust and just buying.
- 52:27Speaker 9: Into, it well another.
- 52:29Speaker 16: You've been talking.
- 52:30Speaker 20: About it there's in court cases with with.
- 52:32Speaker 15: Juco eligibility you think you'd be able to get another gear.
