- 0:00Speaker 1: And now Move the Sticks with Daniel, Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 1: What's up, everybody, welcome to move the Sticks on a Monday, DJ,
- 0:10Speaker 1: Bucky and Baldy with you. Baldy, first of all, Man,
- 0:13Speaker 1: that's a that's a that's a strong non part of
- 0:16Speaker 1: the jacket that you're working there.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw this down outside the cafeteria on Friday.
- 0:22Speaker 2: I think I'm like, I got to have that jacket, man,
- 0:24Speaker 2: I gotta have it. I have been taking it off.
- 0:26Speaker 3: That's fantastic. I feel I feel like you got that
- 0:28Speaker 3: out of the Jerry Mark break collection.
- 0:31Speaker 4: This is a throwback. Man.
- 0:32Speaker 5: I'm so glad that you elected to wear dead Letterman's
- 0:35Speaker 5: jacket instead of that Duke letters jacket.
- 0:39Speaker 6: I thought that what heels on Saturday, Bucky, because I
- 0:44Speaker 6: was like, I was like, I was like, if Baldi
- 0:47Speaker 6: shows up with a duke jacket.
- 0:49Speaker 3: After they run j they.
- 0:51Speaker 5: Run a fake field goal, they run a fake field goal,
- 0:55Speaker 5: like like the field.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Goal would put them ahead. Yeah, they wanted to go
- 1:01Speaker 3: up to putting themselves in a position to win the game,
- 1:03Speaker 3: And I'm like, what are we doing? Why would you
- 1:07Speaker 3: do that?
- 1:08Speaker 4: Like?
- 1:08Speaker 5: Just hats all man, just just a sad day, sad
- 1:14Speaker 5: tough one, baldy.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I I you know, I want to join the winning
- 1:18Speaker 1: side here. So the fact that you were a winner
- 1:19Speaker 1: this week, app State finally won a game, which was nice.
- 1:22Speaker 1: But hey, the Christian High Patriots, my son's high school team,
- 1:24Speaker 1: we're in the SAF championship game this week. We had
- 1:27Speaker 1: a big held on for a little twenty seventeen w
- 1:30Speaker 1: So we were at the Southwestern College.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Playing the Central High School out there out in the desert.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Tough kids. Tough kids are mountain desert. So yeah, good,
- 1:38Speaker 3: that's GREATO.
- 1:39Speaker 4: Well yeah, fun fun?
- 1:42Speaker 3: Oh is this the first?
- 1:43Speaker 5: Is this the first championship experience in the Jeremiah High
- 1:46Speaker 5: School Inters?
- 1:48Speaker 1: So that this would be our It would be a
- 1:51Speaker 1: chance for our school to be our eleventh SF championship,
- 1:54Speaker 1: which I think is second most in San Diego County.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I was, you know, buck, I only played three years
- 1:59Speaker 1: of our football, so I only won three.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Because I didn't.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Uh we ran out.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that was it. That was why they capped it.
- 2:07Speaker 1: They capped it right there. And both my nephews, both
- 2:10Speaker 1: my nephews, I believe one one. So this could be
- 2:13Speaker 1: like like we have eleven and I think six of
- 2:15Speaker 1: them would have a Jeremiah.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Extra out there.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that's very cool. Allre that so many of these games, Baldy,
- 2:22Speaker 1: you're at a good one. Let's start with where you
- 2:24Speaker 1: were because INDYKC, this was a KC team that man,
- 2:27Speaker 1: they were teetering on the brink, you know, looking at
- 2:29Speaker 1: them saying they're not going to be in the tournament.
- 2:30Speaker 3: That's a rap. And then they had a furious comeback
- 2:33Speaker 3: over the Colts.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it was. They couldn't score touchdown DJ for the
- 2:37Speaker 2: first three quarters. I mean, they had three field goals.
- 2:40Speaker 2: They couldn't get an explosive play. I mean, I got
- 2:42Speaker 2: a bit that for the first time, the Colts were
- 2:45Speaker 2: able to put out sauce you know, Travarious Ward and
- 2:48Speaker 2: you know Kenny Moore, and they played I mean, they
- 2:51Speaker 2: just put a lid over the top of the Chiefs.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Mames had some protection, he had some time. He just
- 2:56Speaker 2: couldn't find anything down the field for the first three
- 2:58Speaker 2: quarters and then backed up on the goal line at
- 3:01Speaker 2: the end of the third quarter and he does a
- 3:04Speaker 2: classic Mahomes and Rashi Rice kind of breaks loose from
- 3:07Speaker 2: Kenny Moore and he hits him in stride for forty five,
- 3:11Speaker 2: and that kind of ignited things for the Chiefs offense
- 3:14Speaker 2: because they were asleep, and and the Colts defense played great.
- 3:18Speaker 2: You know, Jermaine Pratt had twenty tackles, Zia Franklin pulled
- 3:22Speaker 2: the ball out of you know, Kareem Hunt's hands, got
- 3:25Speaker 2: a fumble, fumble recovery. They played great defense for three quarters.
- 3:29Speaker 2: But Mahomes just, He's just Mahomes man. He just keeps
- 3:33Speaker 2: he just keeps competing, he keeps firing, he keeps fighting away.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And they got off of life support because that's exactly
- 3:39Speaker 2: where they were that I've been a we've all been
- 3:41Speaker 2: in an Arrowhead. We know how that place rocks, we know
- 3:44Speaker 2: how the decibel. That place was a morgue for the
- 3:47Speaker 2: first three quarters in that game, and they were looking
- 3:49Speaker 2: at going five and six and losing three in a row.
- 3:52Speaker 4: And then that one play to Rashi Rice kind of
- 3:55Speaker 4: woke up the whole team.
- 3:56Speaker 5: I thought, that's uh, but it's amazing. But it's also
- 4:01Speaker 5: the thing that the league fears, right. Everyone wants the
- 4:04Speaker 5: Chiefs to go away. It's funny because I'm looking at
- 4:07Speaker 5: it with Jacks people and you're like, oh man, yeah,
- 4:10Speaker 5: we want the Coast to go down. We don't want
- 4:12Speaker 5: the Chiefs to lose like the Coasts bring it. But
- 4:16Speaker 5: there's this fear of pat Mahomes and Kansas City, almost
- 4:20Speaker 5: like when we were teenagers or whatever, when it was
- 4:23Speaker 5: Nightmare on m Street, Right, Freddy Fruit can't kill them
- 4:26Speaker 5: like you want them out. So you're just scared that
- 4:29Speaker 5: if they get in, because they've done it so much, what.
- 4:32Speaker 3: It wants he just knows. And so that's the fear
- 4:35Speaker 3: that everyone has.
- 4:36Speaker 5: If they mess around and get into the tournament, they'll
- 4:38Speaker 5: find a way to be the last team standing again
- 4:40Speaker 5: because we've seen this, We've seen this story, We've seen
- 4:43Speaker 5: this movie.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Over and over and over again, no doubt.
- 4:46Speaker 1: And Palter, you mentioned a couple guys that I dug
- 4:48Speaker 1: in and watched from this. I was curious for she
- 4:49Speaker 1: rice eight for a buck forty one. So I'm looking
- 4:52Speaker 1: at how they using them. It's a couple of quick screens.
- 4:54Speaker 1: It's a fly sweep, it's some bubbles, it's a broken play,
- 4:59Speaker 1: it's run after catch, and then they hit him with
- 5:01Speaker 1: mesh one time and then down in the red zone
- 5:03Speaker 1: they fake mesh and he ends up wheeling back out
- 5:05Speaker 1: the back door. It was just a really cool design.
- 5:08Speaker 1: But he's just kind of the he's the guy, get
- 5:10Speaker 1: the ball in his hands and let him run with it.
- 5:11Speaker 1: I mean, that's what the role that he's been playing.
- 5:13Speaker 1: But still wasn't you know, it wasn't a crisp game.
- 5:16Speaker 1: They ran a bazillion plays, Like the points to play
- 5:19Speaker 1: ratio is now like.
- 5:21Speaker 4: I know, a hundred.
- 5:25Speaker 2: It was like a big twelve college game back in
- 5:28Speaker 2: the day, you know, where you both sides would put
- 5:30Speaker 2: up one hundred plays. The thing though, that you know,
- 5:34Speaker 2: Indianapolis has to be kicking themselves, like they they went.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Away from feeding Jonathan Taylor in that game.
- 5:39Speaker 2: They had four straight three and outs and they put
- 5:42Speaker 2: it in Daniel Jones's hand. He's played good, but I
- 5:46Speaker 2: just don't understand, like why they would go away and
- 5:49Speaker 2: trying to.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Feed john State.
- 5:50Speaker 2: It wasn't like they were doing anything special upfront, you know,
- 5:53Speaker 2: Chris Jones out there, but they were like they I
- 5:56Speaker 2: just never thought they tried to get him going.
- 5:58Speaker 4: And I saw the same thing happen.
- 6:00Speaker 2: When they lost to Pittsburgh a couple of weeks ago.
- 6:02Speaker 2: They went away from from Jonathan Taylor, and I just
- 6:07Speaker 2: I just for the life of me can't figure out
- 6:09Speaker 2: what Because I like Shames Stike and I think he's
- 6:11Speaker 2: a really good designer of offense. I just can't figure
- 6:15Speaker 2: out how they would go away from their best player
- 6:17Speaker 2: like that.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, he's the engine, and you get you
- 6:22Speaker 1: can't get that confused with the different weapons they have
- 6:24Speaker 1: and different ways they can beat it, He's still the
- 6:26Speaker 1: engine makes the whole thing go. But I thought, I
- 6:28Speaker 1: know they lost the ball game, but I didn't come
- 6:30Speaker 1: out of that thinking any less of Indianapolis. Like you said,
- 6:33Speaker 1: just put the ball on Jonathan Taylor's belly a little bit.
- 6:35Speaker 1: They probably win that game. That's a good football team.
- 6:37Speaker 1: So anyways, big win for the Chiefs. Let's get to uh,
- 6:40Speaker 1: let's get to the Sunday and nighter. We can kind
- 6:41Speaker 1: of work backwards here, buck Tampa and the Rams. A
- 6:45Speaker 1: game that the Rams. You know, you Baker Mayfield got
- 6:48Speaker 1: knocked out of this game, but it was that game
- 6:50Speaker 1: was over before he got knocked out of that game.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it was, man.
- 6:53Speaker 5: And look I'm gonna say this man right now, in
- 6:55Speaker 5: looking at all the teams, the Rams are the best
- 6:56Speaker 5: team in football. Like they can get it done in
- 6:58Speaker 5: so many different ways. There's a saying where you say, hey,
- 7:01Speaker 5: we went gritty, we being pretty. The Rams can do
- 7:04Speaker 5: it either way you want. If you want to down
- 7:06Speaker 5: in dirty game, go on a physical game where it's
- 7:07Speaker 5: about the run game and defense, they can do that.
- 7:09Speaker 5: If you want them to throw it all over the
- 7:11Speaker 5: yard and show the creativity of Sean mcvay's offensive mind,
- 7:15Speaker 5: they can do that. They just have so many different
- 7:18Speaker 5: paths to victory that they're very, very difficult to defend.
- 7:21Speaker 5: And then when it comes to their personnel, I can't
- 7:24Speaker 5: say that they have all A level defenders, but man,
- 7:27Speaker 5: you'd be hard pressed to find a team that plays
- 7:29Speaker 5: as hard as the Rams. Like their physicality, their toughness,
- 7:33Speaker 5: their overall energy you feel when you watch them. I've
- 7:37Speaker 5: seen it in person at London, but then watching them
- 7:41Speaker 5: last night on TV, you can feel their presence. They're
- 7:45Speaker 5: just a really good team. And man, I know the
- 7:47Speaker 5: division and stuff with them Seattle and they go back
- 7:50Speaker 5: and forth, but I'm just hard pressed to find a
- 7:52Speaker 5: team that's playing better than them.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Right now, as we head down the stretch.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I'm looking at them, Baldi and wondering how big you
- 7:59Speaker 1: think home field advantages? I mean, that game because if
- 8:02Speaker 1: you look at them and Philly on a collision course
- 8:04Speaker 1: and that game and the weather. I mean, I know,
- 8:07Speaker 1: obviously the Rams game all they could handle in the
- 8:09Speaker 1: playoffs last year, but to me, that's a that's a
- 8:11Speaker 1: massive home field advantage. They get to play that game
- 8:13Speaker 1: at so far against the Eagles, versus having to play
- 8:15Speaker 1: them on the road.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Well, the all Eagle fans out there, you know they're
- 8:17Speaker 2: going to invade. They always do, so it's going to
- 8:21Speaker 2: be an Eagle home game. I mean, look, I mean
- 8:23Speaker 2: I was. I denounced the Week four game with the
- 8:26Speaker 2: Rams and the Eagles, and Eagles block two field goals
- 8:29Speaker 2: in a fourth quarter to win the game, but I
- 8:31Speaker 2: mean the Rams were blowing.
- 8:32Speaker 4: It was a boat race in that gate.
- 8:34Speaker 2: It was twenty six to seven, and the Eagles were asleep,
- 8:36Speaker 2: and they had a good second half and made some plays.
- 8:39Speaker 2: You know, special teams, but they're just there's to say
- 8:43Speaker 2: they're complete as an under They don't have any bad games.
- 8:47Speaker 2: They don't they don't play batter, they don't go to sleep,
- 8:49Speaker 2: and Stafford's the MVP of this league. I'm just amazed
- 8:53Speaker 2: at how effective they use their tight ends. I mean,
- 8:57Speaker 2: Kobe Parkinson catches, you know, another touchdown pass. They've got
- 9:01Speaker 2: eight of the thirty touchdowns that Stafford's throne has been
- 9:03Speaker 2: to the tight ends. And they played two and three
- 9:05Speaker 2: tight ends. It's becoming a tight end league. They've got
- 9:08Speaker 2: four of them that they dress County Terence Ferguson. But
- 9:12Speaker 2: they all have a separate role, and they're all really
- 9:14Speaker 2: good at what they do, and they can play without
- 9:17Speaker 2: their starting right tackle.
- 9:18Speaker 4: And you don't even notice it.
- 9:20Speaker 2: You know, you don't even notice Hanstein, who's a good
- 9:22Speaker 2: player on the sidelines in that game, and they just
- 9:26Speaker 2: look well, coach, they execute, They boat raced Tampa, you
- 9:30Speaker 2: know in that first half, and it was just a
- 9:32Speaker 2: question of now how many points do they want to
- 9:34Speaker 2: put up in that game.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Yeah. A couple of things here.
- 9:37Speaker 1: One, you're watching Stafford in the way he's playing the
- 9:39Speaker 1: MVP level, and think about how well he played in
- 9:41Speaker 1: Detroit when just you know, he had Megatron but the
- 9:44Speaker 1: rest of those rosters were not in great shape. Took
- 9:46Speaker 1: him to the playoffs coming off an zero and sixteen
- 9:49Speaker 1: you know, a year that they had there during his tenure.
- 9:52Speaker 1: But I'm sitting there going, man, what if Stafford had
- 9:54Speaker 1: been in a quality organization from start to finish. With
- 9:57Speaker 1: the pieces around him, we could be talking about him
- 9:59Speaker 1: as the great gatest player of all time, Like he's
- 10:01Speaker 1: got that type of ability and the level at which
- 10:03Speaker 1: he's played since he got to the Rams was pretty ridiculous.
- 10:06Speaker 1: But the other thing I wanted to hit on buck
- 10:07Speaker 1: We were talking about this a little bit beforehand. Emmanuel Forbes,
- 10:10Speaker 1: he had five PBUs in this game, and I'm watching
- 10:14Speaker 1: him and I was talking Baldi. This morning, I went
- 10:16Speaker 1: back and read my notes on him coming out, and
- 10:18Speaker 1: it was all the stuff that we liked about him
- 10:20Speaker 1: coming out. It was the length, it was the fluidity,
- 10:23Speaker 1: it was the burst, and the clothes. The guy ran
- 10:25Speaker 1: in the four threes. He's one hundred and sixty six pounds.
- 10:27Speaker 1: He missed tackles in college, but you're going to You're
- 10:30Speaker 1: gotta live with some of that because the guy can
- 10:32Speaker 1: cover so dang well. Washington, I think grew so frustrated
- 10:35Speaker 1: with the tackling and the lack of physicality there that
- 10:38Speaker 1: they punted on him, kind of gave up on him.
- 10:40Speaker 1: And now you look up and my comp was samari
- 10:43Speaker 1: Roll coming out. I remember like Fred Smoot was another
- 10:46Speaker 1: name that he kind of reminded me of with some
- 10:48Speaker 1: leaner guys who just know how to cover and play
- 10:50Speaker 1: the ball, and the Rams man that was a smart
- 10:53Speaker 1: move on their part scoop him up.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Did you remember going back and thinking about that draft?
- 10:57Speaker 5: He was my favorite dB in the class because in
- 11:00Speaker 5: looking at him, his footwork, his technique, his turns and transitions,
- 11:04Speaker 5: his ability to make plays on the ball, to me
- 11:06Speaker 5: stood out above others, Like there's some guys who have
- 11:09Speaker 5: the gifts.
- 11:10Speaker 3: When it comes to being able to cover and do
- 11:12Speaker 3: those things.
- 11:13Speaker 5: I felt like he had that, And even though the
- 11:15Speaker 5: tackling and the lack of physicality was an issue, I
- 11:18Speaker 5: just thought in a pass happy league he would find
- 11:21Speaker 5: a place to be a starting, high end cornerback in
- 11:24Speaker 5: the right system.
- 11:25Speaker 3: For whatever reason, it didn't.
- 11:27Speaker 5: Work out from Washington, and it was kind of apparent
- 11:29Speaker 5: early that it just didn't job his game and then
- 11:32Speaker 5: it just didn't work.
- 11:33Speaker 3: But for the Rams it works and I can't tell
- 11:37Speaker 3: you why exactly.
- 11:38Speaker 5: Like sometimes I'll say this environment culture can bring out
- 11:41Speaker 5: more of the desired traits that you want to see
- 11:44Speaker 5: from a player, but it works from him and having
- 11:47Speaker 5: a conversation with the Ram staffer.
- 11:49Speaker 3: After a game.
- 11:50Speaker 5: We talked about the manuforms and how he settled in
- 11:52Speaker 5: and the confidence coming back, and what you're seeing is
- 11:56Speaker 5: a first.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Round talent playing to his strengths as a player.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Well, I think that you know, coming out of Missipis State,
- 12:04Speaker 2: he had ball skills, obviously, I think Jet I think
- 12:06Speaker 2: he had thirteen interceptions with the Bulldogs down there. But
- 12:10Speaker 2: just watching him, he just sits on these routes like
- 12:14Speaker 2: he's a good route reader. He sits on top of
- 12:16Speaker 2: these routes and then he makes his That's how you
- 12:18Speaker 2: get five PBUs in a game. You're not guessing. You're
- 12:20Speaker 2: just sitting on these things and you're just waiting. You're
- 12:23Speaker 2: waiting on you know, whether it's tedz Johnson or guy
- 12:26Speaker 2: want somebody just to you know, to come back to
- 12:28Speaker 2: the ball. And then once that happens, like his his
- 12:31Speaker 2: initial his foot speed is elite when he can do that,
- 12:35Speaker 2: and you know you're talking about the physicality and the
- 12:38Speaker 2: tapu is. I just remember something that Rex Ryan always
- 12:40Speaker 2: said when he was coaching with the Jets. He goes,
- 12:43Speaker 2: I want my corners to cover. I got nine other
- 12:44Speaker 2: guys are supposed to make them happot me let this.
- 12:48Speaker 2: This guy stop the ball from going over my head.
- 12:50Speaker 2: I got reebs out here. I mean, I've got my guys.
- 12:52Speaker 2: I'll let the other guys make the tack.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Yeah, that's interesting.
- 12:55Speaker 1: The other thing about him is that he's so lean
- 12:57Speaker 1: and he's so long that he's able to get through
- 13:00Speaker 1: a receiver without contacting him. So he'll be on their
- 13:02Speaker 1: back and a lot of times receivers can box a
- 13:04Speaker 1: guy out and go get to the ball. Well, his
- 13:06Speaker 1: hands reached. He's got so much reach and he can
- 13:09Speaker 1: get through you without contacting you. That's how he collected
- 13:11Speaker 1: some of those PBUs. Another one where even when he's
- 13:14Speaker 1: a little bit beat man, you got to be able
- 13:15Speaker 1: to recover.
- 13:16Speaker 3: He can.
- 13:16Speaker 1: He can close and recover a big time, big time
- 13:18Speaker 1: burst in speed. So he's been a good find there
- 13:21Speaker 1: for the Rams. And I'm with you, guys, I think
- 13:23Speaker 1: they are. They're playing like the best team of football
- 13:25Speaker 1: right now. Baldy Detroit and the Giants a game that
- 13:28Speaker 1: I didn't have on my bingo cards, being you know,
- 13:30Speaker 1: one of the more entertaining close games made its way
- 13:33Speaker 1: into overtime. The Giants had a great shot to steal
- 13:36Speaker 1: this one, uh, but Jamiir Gibbson company.
- 13:38Speaker 3: We were to pull it out.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Well for probably you know this the fifth or sixth
- 13:43Speaker 2: time this year the Giants surrender the lead again. Jane
- 13:46Speaker 2: Bowen is out, you know fire today. Uh, they can't
- 13:50Speaker 2: close the game out. They did everything you could do offensively.
- 13:53Speaker 2: One deal is a really good player, and James found him.
- 13:57Speaker 2: They had some some creativity. Mike kaff gets some creative
- 14:00Speaker 2: in the offense to create some offense. They had Detroit
- 14:03Speaker 2: on the ropes. They just could not finish it out.
- 14:05Speaker 2: And it's been their story all season long. And credit
- 14:09Speaker 2: Detroit for making a comeback, but honestly, like the Giants
- 14:13Speaker 2: should have been able to finish that game. I thought
- 14:16Speaker 2: Kafka coached a good game. I thought Jamis played really well.
- 14:20Speaker 2: You know, he made the place necessary to get twenty
- 14:22Speaker 2: seven points on the board. You think that you're in
- 14:24Speaker 2: good shape up twenty seven to seventeen, but you just
- 14:27Speaker 2: go through like Denver and you know all these Get
- 14:30Speaker 2: Dallas and all these games where they're just surrendering these leads,
- 14:33Speaker 2: just playing these soft coverages just frustrating for any Giant fan.
- 14:38Speaker 5: Yeah, that's me frustrating because when you think about the
- 14:40Speaker 5: way the Giants are constructed from a personnel standpoint. They're
- 14:43Speaker 5: constructed to close out games, given their pass rush and
- 14:47Speaker 5: given what you want to do. And I understand Shane
- 14:48Speaker 5: Bowing prefers soft coverage and zone coverage in those things,
- 14:51Speaker 5: and there's a way to accomplish that not litting the
- 14:53Speaker 5: ball flower your head while being a little more sticky.
- 14:56Speaker 5: But the Giants have lost too many of these games
- 14:59Speaker 5: where it's in hand you have your best unit, because
- 15:02Speaker 5: I think we would say that their defense is supposed
- 15:04Speaker 5: to be their best unit when you look at their
- 15:06Speaker 5: personnel and they haven't been able to get it done.
- 15:09Speaker 5: It has to be frustrating for the Giants and the
- 15:11Speaker 5: Giants fan base that she used to seeing dominant defenses,
- 15:15Speaker 5: Like that's what the Giants have been built on, going
- 15:17Speaker 5: all the way back through time, That's what they're built on.
- 15:20Speaker 3: It's just frustrating. It's frustrating to watch.
- 15:22Speaker 5: And if I was a Giants fan, man, I would
- 15:24Speaker 5: be up to my ears in frustration. Just knowing that
- 15:26Speaker 5: this team should be much better than their record indicates.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Yeah, a couple of good things on the on the
- 15:31Speaker 1: Giant side of things. Darius Alexander, the rookie two sacks,
- 15:35Speaker 1: little bull rip and then just kind of a firm
- 15:37Speaker 1: pocket push out of him. Going back through my notes,
- 15:40Speaker 1: six oho three sevens, just under six four to three
- 15:43Speaker 1: hundred and five pounds, ran four nine to five. A
- 15:45Speaker 1: little bit older guy at twenty five years old, but
- 15:47Speaker 1: thirty four inch arms, big time power. I thought he
- 15:49Speaker 1: could bend and move and will shake bowl. Play with
- 15:52Speaker 1: right doing really good. Seeing that bull can snatch blocks
- 15:56Speaker 1: like he's talented. I think really kind of the age
- 15:59Speaker 1: was the knock on him. But a good player, and
- 16:02Speaker 1: see him get a couple of sacks. Good for him.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Abdul Carter, it's shocking he didn't have the sack production.
- 16:07Speaker 1: But you watch him in this game, and he had
- 16:08Speaker 1: three quarterback hits, four tackles. I thought he was playing fast.
- 16:12Speaker 1: He can still, you know, he can still got a
- 16:13Speaker 1: great takeoff. He's got a great takeoff. So the stats
- 16:16Speaker 1: are gonna come. I wouldn't freak out about, you know,
- 16:18Speaker 1: the lack of sack production there. That's gonna come eventually.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Let's take a quick pause and then we'll jump into
- 16:23Speaker 1: some more of these games.
- 16:28Speaker 3: All right, body, let's let's jump in on the Baldi Bowl.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Philly Dallas here, Philly had him, had him dead to
- 16:34Speaker 1: rights and could not put him away.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Great Dallas man, I thought, starting at the end of
- 16:39Speaker 2: the second quarter, when they took a drive down to
- 16:42Speaker 2: cut it to twenty one seven, I thought the offense
- 16:44Speaker 2: line really began to assert itself all of a sudden,
- 16:47Speaker 2: runs that were a yard or two yards for the
- 16:49Speaker 2: first quarter and a half of that game became five
- 16:51Speaker 2: and six yards. I thought Javonte ran it really really good,
- 16:54Speaker 2: but I thought they protected Dak really well, and you know,
- 16:58Speaker 2: they just hung in there. And then the defense, honestly,
- 17:01Speaker 2: for Dallas, I give them credit. They had trouble with
- 17:06Speaker 2: Davonte and with aj to start that game, and Jalen
- 17:09Speaker 2: was really really, really sharp, and then you know they
- 17:12Speaker 2: cannot run the ball when they have to run the
- 17:16Speaker 2: ball all year. I mean, I don't think Saquon, I
- 17:19Speaker 2: don't think anybody has fewer has more runs of two
- 17:22Speaker 2: yards or less than Saquon.
- 17:24Speaker 4: Like, he can't get a run.
- 17:25Speaker 2: And it's some of it is him, some of it
- 17:27Speaker 2: is there's just not a burst there that used to
- 17:29Speaker 2: be there. Some of it is his instincts to where
- 17:32Speaker 2: the hole is going to be. And then a lot
- 17:34Speaker 2: of it is just upfront. I don't know what they're
- 17:37Speaker 2: doing on some of these runs upfront with Jurgons and
- 17:41Speaker 2: some of the guards and how they're blocking these things.
- 17:43Speaker 2: But that newly built defensive line of Dallas, they showed up.
- 17:48Speaker 2: They showed up quite a bit in that second half.
- 17:51Speaker 5: You know, it's funny, right, So it's the Cowboys the
- 17:55Speaker 5: long road to get to this point where they have
- 17:57Speaker 5: a better defense in terms of like a more balance defense.
- 18:00Speaker 5: When you have Quinn Williams and Kenny Clark and you
- 18:03Speaker 5: got Si, I can always mess up over Digga Zua
- 18:08Speaker 5: being there. So they're really good there and they've kind
- 18:10Speaker 5: of bought into and kind of found their way and
- 18:12Speaker 5: met Eberflus's scheme.
- 18:14Speaker 3: So they're playing better.
- 18:15Speaker 5: And then offensively, they have a team that they can score.
- 18:18Speaker 5: And whenever you can score, it's easier to build a
- 18:21Speaker 5: defense that can play with that kind of firepower and
- 18:23Speaker 5: play complimentary ball and that bang. The thing that's tricky
- 18:27Speaker 5: about this game is they were behind. I mean, they
- 18:29Speaker 5: were getting they were getting whooked, and they find a
- 18:32Speaker 5: way to hold the rope. So give brianshot not my credit.
- 18:36Speaker 5: We talked about it last time on the last podcast,
- 18:38Speaker 5: we talked about the job that he's doing and just
- 18:40Speaker 5: how amazing he's done in his first year, just holding
- 18:44Speaker 5: everything together in a place that is very difficult to
- 18:47Speaker 5: win in as a coach.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Like give them credit, Like they're five to five and one.
- 18:50Speaker 5: I don't know where it ends up for him, but
- 18:53Speaker 5: they have a lot of respect in terms of just
- 18:55Speaker 5: how they're competing each and every week.
- 18:57Speaker 3: There's certain things that they can build on going forward.
- 18:59Speaker 2: In the brianshot, there was a stretch in his game
- 19:03Speaker 2: where Dak just literally took the game over.
- 19:05Speaker 4: There.
- 19:05Speaker 2: They're down twenty one to seven, They're down on the
- 19:08Speaker 2: five yard line, and Dak rolls to his right. He
- 19:10Speaker 2: fines Brevin Ford span like in the back of the
- 19:14Speaker 2: end zone. I mean it like it's the last second.
- 19:17Speaker 2: He's being chased, he's going out of bounds, and he
- 19:19Speaker 2: just floats it over the head of the underneath defender.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Touchdown, they get a stop. They come back.
- 19:25Speaker 2: He hits Pickings on a forty eight yard shot where
- 19:28Speaker 2: he just turns Cooper Degene all the way around, and
- 19:31Speaker 2: then two plays later, Dak took it in and scrambled
- 19:33Speaker 2: and did a flip into the end zone. To tie
- 19:35Speaker 2: the game up, and literally within four and a half
- 19:38Speaker 2: minutes they went from down twenty one to seven to
- 19:41Speaker 2: tie to twenty one, and they got rubbed themselves right
- 19:44Speaker 2: back in the game early in that fourth quarter.
- 19:46Speaker 1: I'm glad you guys got me to Dak because that's
- 19:48Speaker 1: what I wanted to get to. Look where he is
- 19:50Speaker 1: projected wise now, he just take his numbers right now
- 19:52Speaker 1: and project him out over the rest of the season.
- 19:53Speaker 1: He's on pace for forty five and forty five yards,
- 19:56Speaker 1: thirty six touchdowns, eleven picks. He's completing sixty nine points
- 20:00Speaker 1: three percent of his passes. When you know, I feel
- 20:02Speaker 1: like people got to be reminded a little bit because
- 20:06Speaker 1: and maybe it's cowboy fatigue that people are sick of
- 20:08Speaker 1: talking about him and all that kind of stuff, but
- 20:10Speaker 1: he has held this team together and kept them in
- 20:13Speaker 1: this thing where they're still alive here in the NFC,
- 20:15Speaker 1: and he's playing outside of stafford at Emi Harpress. Tell
- 20:18Speaker 1: me who's playing better than Dak When he's locked in
- 20:21Speaker 1: and when he's on making every throw under center and
- 20:24Speaker 1: the gun, you're moving him your touch, throws up and down, throws,
- 20:27Speaker 1: vertical shots like I mean, he had one ball.
- 20:30Speaker 3: He's just the red zone pick.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Where he got locked in after they had a dumb
- 20:33Speaker 1: penalty at the one yard line and he forces the
- 20:34Speaker 1: ball and ends up getting picked. But overall, I thought
- 20:37Speaker 1: he saw the field really, really well. And the other
- 20:40Speaker 1: thing I would say buck is going through it and
- 20:42Speaker 1: watching all of his stuff and studying him. Was this
- 20:44Speaker 1: offensive line against a very very talented front across the
- 20:48Speaker 1: board for Philly held up quite well.
- 20:50Speaker 5: Yeah, the offensive line for Dallas is terrific. And look
- 20:53Speaker 5: at there's certain things that always hold true when it
- 20:55Speaker 5: comes to the Cowboys. With Cowboys are great. They have
- 20:57Speaker 5: a dominant offensive line. They can get it punishing you
- 21:01Speaker 5: running the ball. They haven't necessarily done that consistently this year,
- 21:04Speaker 5: but man, they always have a wall of big bodies
- 21:07Speaker 5: up front to protect the quarterback. Dak Prescott has been terrific.
- 21:11Speaker 5: And I would say this because we talked about this
- 21:12Speaker 5: before we clicked on the pod. George Pickens is what
- 21:15Speaker 5: we thought that he could be at his best when
- 21:18Speaker 5: he was coming out of school. He is terrific playing
- 21:20Speaker 5: on the opposite side of Ceedee Lamb. The Cowboys have
- 21:23Speaker 5: always been at their best when they have two legitimate
- 21:25Speaker 5: weapons on the outside, Michael Irvin and Alvin Harper.
- 21:29Speaker 3: However you want to do it, they do it.
- 21:31Speaker 5: And because you cannot singlely double team CD LAMB without
- 21:36Speaker 5: getting punished, it bounces out the defense and it opens
- 21:39Speaker 5: up the field for Dak Prescott. Look, I look at
- 21:42Speaker 5: the end, they're gonna have to make a decision on
- 21:44Speaker 5: what they do with George Pickens. But if I'm the Cowboys,
- 21:46Speaker 5: you better find a way to pay him so you
- 21:48Speaker 5: can keep him in CD in the fall, because this
- 21:49Speaker 5: offense is explosive.
- 21:51Speaker 2: You know, just to touch on you, we're talking about
- 21:54Speaker 2: DJ about the offensive line. You think about what the
- 21:56Speaker 2: Eagles did to the Packers and the Lions back to
- 21:59Speaker 2: back weeks. I mean, they just dominated both lines, whether
- 22:03Speaker 2: it was home or away, and they didn't do that
- 22:06Speaker 2: against this Dallas front.
- 22:08Speaker 4: You know.
- 22:08Speaker 2: I mean Tyler Booker, you know he in the second half,
- 22:11Speaker 2: he had a good game against Jalen Carter. But the
- 22:13Speaker 2: whole group, I mean, all those guys that affected the
- 22:16Speaker 2: game last week against Detroit that Jared Goff was still
- 22:19Speaker 2: talking about a week later about how physical they were
- 22:22Speaker 2: and how good they were, uh, and all the guys
- 22:24Speaker 2: up front recognizing the Eagles. They did not do that
- 22:27Speaker 2: to Dallas in this game. And so credit Booker and
- 22:31Speaker 2: you know, Tyler Smith and guy in the whole group,
- 22:33Speaker 2: man Cooper b b played really well in there. That
- 22:36Speaker 2: was that was a really well done job up front.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Yeah, just to wrap up both of you guys there.
- 22:42Speaker 1: To me, if you're getting ready and you're putting an
- 22:44Speaker 1: advanced scouting report for the Cowboys, to me, George Pickens
- 22:47Speaker 1: is the one who's getting the attention.
- 22:49Speaker 3: He's been. He's just been better than Seedee Lamb.
- 22:50Speaker 1: If you're going to try and double somebody or take
- 22:52Speaker 1: somebody away, I think I'm leaning in that direction, which
- 22:55Speaker 1: is crazy that you would have said that coming into
- 22:57Speaker 1: this season, But that's who's who's doing the damage. So
- 23:00Speaker 1: that's the first side of it. And then on the
- 23:02Speaker 1: other side of it, this felt like I picked the
- 23:04Speaker 1: Eagles to lose this game just because it kind of
- 23:06Speaker 1: felt like they've been look at their schedule like they've
- 23:08Speaker 1: been in some wars against the best teams in football,
- 23:11Speaker 1: and they come out on the right side of the
- 23:12Speaker 1: vast majority of those games.
- 23:14Speaker 3: I thought they would be a little bit tired, a
- 23:15Speaker 3: little fatigue. Cowboys.
- 23:17Speaker 1: You know, a little emotional, you know, after the death
- 23:19Speaker 1: of their teammate, coming back home all those things. So
- 23:23Speaker 1: not not totally surprised that the Dallas was able to
- 23:25Speaker 1: get a win.
- 23:26Speaker 4: There.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Last point on this game bald the AJ Brown eight
- 23:30Speaker 1: for a Buck ten and a touchdown. So that's a
- 23:32Speaker 1: good sign for the Eagles. And I was curious to
- 23:33Speaker 1: watch it, like, okay, you know how what they have
- 23:36Speaker 1: to do to get him going? What turns out you
- 23:37Speaker 1: can just throw hitches to him against soft coverage and
- 23:40Speaker 1: make people tackle your oid guy. I was talking at
- 23:43Speaker 1: the top about high school football, you know, watching you know,
- 23:45Speaker 1: high school playoffs and all that kind of stuff, and
- 23:47Speaker 1: I always tell people the goal of high school football
- 23:49Speaker 1: should be to make the other team tackle your best
- 23:51Speaker 1: player as many times as possible.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Yeah, Buck, he's done that because he's put his he'll
- 23:54Speaker 3: put his athlete.
- 23:55Speaker 1: At quarterback and to say we're going to run it
- 23:56Speaker 1: and make him tackle, make him tackle our best.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Guy, Like this is not hard with a J. Brown.
- 24:01Speaker 3: You don't have to throw them ball fifty yards down
- 24:03Speaker 3: the field. Just get the ball in his hands and
- 24:04Speaker 3: make people have to tackle that big monster.
- 24:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:06Speaker 5: No, you know, DJ like it goes back when I
- 24:10Speaker 5: was in Green Bay, Mike Hogan was a head coach
- 24:12Speaker 5: and he had come from San Francisco, and on his
- 24:14Speaker 5: play sheet there used to be this little little column
- 24:17Speaker 5: right and whoever the best wide receiver was, it was
- 24:19Speaker 5: a get the ball to that number. So if I
- 24:22Speaker 5: am with the field ala Eagles, there's a get the
- 24:24Speaker 5: ball to number eleven, get the ball to number six,
- 24:26Speaker 5: And they're like five or six plays that are not
- 24:29Speaker 5: complex plays.
- 24:30Speaker 3: He's the primary read, he's the isolation route.
- 24:33Speaker 5: It's a hitch, a slant out, something designed to keep
- 24:37Speaker 5: him engaged. And during my time in Green Bay, Gill
- 24:40Speaker 5: Hasker was a wide receiver coach and his job was
- 24:42Speaker 5: to tap Coach Runkman on the show to every two series, Ay,
- 24:46Speaker 5: such and such hasn't had the ball in a couple series.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Let's remember, Let's remember to keep him engaged.
- 24:52Speaker 5: Because as a play call is sometimes you're so bogged
- 24:54Speaker 5: down with all the x's and o's and I want
- 24:56Speaker 5: to get to this that you forget it's about players,
- 24:59Speaker 5: not plays. And I think for the Eagles it's really
- 25:02Speaker 5: as simple to that because that a curb a lot
- 25:03Speaker 5: of this this grunt up stuff that we're getting into
- 25:06Speaker 5: the locker room. Just keep them involved in the game
- 25:09Speaker 5: while running what you want to run.
- 25:11Speaker 3: On offense, the.
- 25:12Speaker 2: Eagles really hurt themselves. They had fourteen penalties. They were
- 25:15Speaker 2: constantly backing up and after big plays. I mean, you know,
- 25:19Speaker 2: a twenty yard play to Goddard, you know, comes back
- 25:21Speaker 2: because you know they got they got.
- 25:23Speaker 4: An illegal shift.
- 25:24Speaker 2: I mean just the horrible penalties that were called and
- 25:29Speaker 2: they got to you know, and so all of a sudden,
- 25:31Speaker 2: instead of first and ten, you know, you're second to twenty.
- 25:33Speaker 2: And they had a hard time coming out of a
- 25:34Speaker 2: lot of those a lot of those predicaments.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Again, it just felt like this was kind of they
- 25:40Speaker 1: were due to kind of have somewhat of an egg
- 25:42Speaker 1: and they jump on them twenty one nothing. I'm like, well,
- 25:44Speaker 1: I guess I read this wrong. They're gonna blow the
- 25:45Speaker 1: Cowboys out of the building. But then they just kind
- 25:48Speaker 1: of sputtered and the Cowboys get a big win. Man,
- 25:50Speaker 1: how about that Thursday game. By the way, Holy Moly,
- 25:53Speaker 1: Chiefs Cowboys. I don't see that is the baldy we ever.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Did you guys ever use the frame loser Leaf Town
- 26:00Speaker 1: Match or is that just for wrestling, but it feels
- 26:02Speaker 1: it feels like it's apropos.
- 26:03Speaker 3: For this one.
- 26:05Speaker 2: I want I like, the Chiefs just had one hundred plays.
- 26:07Speaker 2: I got to see, like, you know what kind of
- 26:09Speaker 2: fatigue they're going to have going down to Dallas. I
- 26:12Speaker 2: played in that you know, Thanksgiving Day game a long
- 26:15Speaker 2: long time back, before you know, there was Thursday Night football.
- 26:18Speaker 4: Like we we live.
- 26:19Speaker 2: To learn how to get ourselves ready to play two
- 26:22Speaker 2: games in four days.
- 26:23Speaker 4: We knew we had a little mini buy afterwards.
- 26:25Speaker 2: We could rest up, but our whole, our whole preparations,
- 26:29Speaker 2: we're getting ready for two games in four days. That's
- 26:31Speaker 2: what Dallas in Kannessy has got to do on short
- 26:33Speaker 2: weeks here after tough games. So we'll see, like who's
- 26:37Speaker 2: still standing there in the fourth quarter this one on Thanksgiving.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Speaking of that, NFL continues to honor and commemorate the
- 26:43Speaker 1: late John Madden with the fourth annual John Madden Thanksgiving
- 26:46Speaker 1: Celebration on Thursday, November twenty seventh. Special NFL producer Madden
- 26:50Speaker 1: Hallmark will kick off each broadcast conveying what Thanksgiving meant
- 26:54Speaker 1: to him in his own words, So cool, how they've
- 26:56Speaker 1: branded these games around John Madden his wagasy there great,
- 27:00Speaker 1: give me very cool buck, Chicago Bears white hot, didn't
- 27:06Speaker 1: matter if Pittsburgh came in. No Aaron Rodgers. They just
- 27:10Speaker 1: find a way. Chicago, no one thing. It's not going
- 27:12Speaker 1: to be comfortable. They're not going to win by two touchdowns.
- 27:14Speaker 1: That's not the way they play. But they are becoming
- 27:17Speaker 1: quite adept at winning close ball games as they did
- 27:19Speaker 1: again they.
- 27:20Speaker 5: Are man because they have physicality and pezazz like Ben
- 27:23Speaker 5: Johnson has been able to meld those things together where
- 27:26Speaker 5: they are physical team to kind of getting back to
- 27:28Speaker 5: their roots of what the franchise has been about while
- 27:31Speaker 5: building around a quarterback who has a flair for the dramatic,
- 27:34Speaker 5: and Ben Johnson has been able to rein it in. Defensively,
- 27:36Speaker 5: they get turnovers, they're playing good ball, and I feel
- 27:39Speaker 5: like this was the game that they were pointing to
- 27:42Speaker 5: to validate who they are. They needed to have that
- 27:45Speaker 5: win against a physical football team that people would respect
- 27:48Speaker 5: to then get the respect that they want. And now
- 27:50Speaker 5: that you're looking at him, you're looking at Detroit kind
- 27:53Speaker 5: of having ebbs and flows offensly because Dan Campbell's having
- 27:56Speaker 5: to take it over. Their defense is kind of scatter
- 27:58Speaker 5: shot the Green Bay Pack is you haven't realized their potential.
- 28:02Speaker 5: The Bears have to feel good about their plot and
- 28:04Speaker 5: where they are. They got to go and do it
- 28:06Speaker 5: on the field. But they are well positioned to not
- 28:08Speaker 5: only make the postseason, but to maybe swipe this division
- 28:11Speaker 5: at a time where I don't know if you really
- 28:13Speaker 5: combine into the hype before the season. Man, they're playing
- 28:16Speaker 5: good ball and Ben Johnson has certainly proven anyone who
- 28:19Speaker 5: thought that it would take him a while to turn
- 28:21Speaker 5: this around.
- 28:22Speaker 3: He's certainly proven all those guys wrong.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Can I give you, guys just one example, by the way,
- 28:26Speaker 1: why it's you know, there's a lot of things I
- 28:28Speaker 1: like better the way we grew up in our generations
- 28:30Speaker 1: versus this new generation. But when you get a text
- 28:34Speaker 1: on the family group chat that says, can someone bring
- 28:36Speaker 1: me some toilet paper? We didn't have that when we
- 28:38Speaker 1: were growing up. Man, it was you got no toilet paper.
- 28:41Speaker 1: That's a tough walk. That's a tough walk.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. I won't get into one other options.
- 28:50Speaker 1: We had, but it was not a family group chat.
- 28:52Speaker 1: I can tell you that much. Somebody else is taking
- 28:54Speaker 1: care of it.
- 28:55Speaker 3: But I'm off the hook. Hey, Baldy. How about my
- 28:58Speaker 3: app state linebacker in this ball, Mark Jackson.
- 29:01Speaker 2: First NFL start, Dennis I guess he came with Dennis
- 29:03Speaker 2: Allen from New Orleans. Yeah, it was with the Saints
- 29:06Speaker 2: for two years. Never started a game in his life.
- 29:09Speaker 2: They're down, Tremaine Edmunds are down, t J. Edwards are down.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Noah sul Hippolyte got hurt in that game. So they're
- 29:15Speaker 2: playing Amen.
- 29:16Speaker 3: A modern mag Beniga he was with, Yeah, I know.
- 29:20Speaker 5: It was.
- 29:22Speaker 3: On the air all the time.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean I knew he played at Oklahoma State,
- 29:25Speaker 2: been around the league.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Done a great kid, by the way, Yeah, great, great kid.
- 29:29Speaker 2: But they those I mean DeMarco had fifteen tackles. Fifteen tackles,
- 29:34Speaker 2: and you know he shows up like there was a
- 29:36Speaker 2: huge play in the game. It's third and two and
- 29:40Speaker 2: they're throwing it to game well out there in the flat,
- 29:42Speaker 2: they got a lead blocker. He defeats the block and
- 29:44Speaker 2: he tackled for a one yard loss and the whole
- 29:46Speaker 2: defense jumped on top of them. You know, Chauncey Gardner,
- 29:49Speaker 2: Johnson's there, They're all like, you know, that was a
- 29:52Speaker 2: big play that had to pump the ball at that spot.
- 29:54Speaker 2: There's a there was a series in this game that's interesting.
- 29:59Speaker 2: The Bears with nineteen seconds ago in the first half,
- 30:03Speaker 2: they go for it and they make two plays and
- 30:05Speaker 2: they kick a field goal to cut the lead of
- 30:07Speaker 2: twenty one seventeen. They come out in the third quarter
- 30:10Speaker 2: and Caleb ball doesn't hit the ground. Five straight completions
- 30:14Speaker 2: and a touchdown on a broken, broken coverage by the
- 30:18Speaker 2: Steelers to Dj Moore, like, literally, the ball didn't hit
- 30:22Speaker 2: the ground on a sixty yard drive and I mean
- 30:24Speaker 2: Caleb just ripped one after another.
- 30:26Speaker 4: But the play calling, you know, when they.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Call the slow screen and all four Steelers are on
- 30:31Speaker 2: top of Caleb and he floats it over their head
- 30:33Speaker 2: and he's got the convoy out front. I mean, it
- 30:36Speaker 2: was just they overcame a first and twenty on a
- 30:39Speaker 2: stupid play by Dj Moore where it's just taunting.
- 30:43Speaker 4: It was really impressive to watch that third quarter drive.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Yeah, big time, big time win for the Chicago Bears.
- 30:50Speaker 1: So they are, they're rolling schedule. It's a little tougher
- 30:53Speaker 1: coming down the home stretch here, so they'll be challenged.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Looking forward to seeing how they do coming down the stretch.
- 30:57Speaker 1: All right, last game we'll get to here, Buck, and
- 31:00Speaker 1: we got to start with Shadour Cleveland.
- 31:03Speaker 3: They get a win over the Raiders.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Raiders of our since fired Chip Kelly's rough coach, special
- 31:12Speaker 1: teams coaches are they got two years gone. The offensive
- 31:15Speaker 1: line played well on and gave up ten sacks. Neither
- 31:17Speaker 1: here nor there.
- 31:18Speaker 4: Any quarterback gets too.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Oh by the way, yeah, that was that Gino. After
- 31:22Speaker 1: a while too, you're watching it, he's like one to
- 31:25Speaker 1: two and then just duck. He didn't even like he
- 31:27Speaker 1: wasn't even trying to do.
- 31:29Speaker 3: There was a play.
- 31:30Speaker 2: I forget who they gave the sack to, maybe Malite Collins,
- 31:32Speaker 2: and literally all four defensive linemen were buried on top
- 31:36Speaker 2: of Gino, like which one should we give it to?
- 31:38Speaker 2: I think they all got a quarter of sack.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Yeah, that was tough tough watch. But Shadure.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Just I'll go through my notes real quick, Buck, Then
- 31:45Speaker 1: I wanna get you to take on eleven for twenty
- 31:47Speaker 1: two to nine, a touchdown and pick started off. I like,
- 31:49Speaker 1: get him a quick screen, get him in a rhythm.
- 31:51Speaker 1: A little stick route did a nice job on Boots,
- 31:54Speaker 1: had some real beautiful deep ball over the top. The
- 31:57Speaker 1: thing that I wrote down that stood out to me
- 31:59Speaker 1: to the most is the way I described it was,
- 32:01Speaker 1: he did an excellent job of playing fast to slow.
- 32:04Speaker 3: In other words, when we got to move, let's move quick.
- 32:07Speaker 1: But then before we throw, let's let's gather ourselves with
- 32:10Speaker 1: some poise and then throw the ball. He didn't get
- 32:12Speaker 1: sped up, is what I'm getting at. He was able
- 32:14Speaker 1: to slow himself down, which really helped him with his
- 32:17Speaker 1: accuracy when he was having to move off the spot
- 32:19Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 32:20Speaker 5: Yeah, DJ, I think the most impressive part, like everyone
- 32:22Speaker 5: to talk about those big boy throws like the deep
- 32:24Speaker 5: ball and the explosive nature of the offense, but I
- 32:27Speaker 5: was more impressed with his willingness to take the checkdown because,
- 32:31Speaker 5: as you know, if you take the checkdown enough, it
- 32:33Speaker 5: forces the defense to react.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Defense.
- 32:36Speaker 5: Yeah, I had a college coach to say, every completion
- 32:39Speaker 5: impacts the defense, no matter what they say, like, hey,
- 32:41Speaker 5: make him take the checkdown. When you start completing checkdowns,
- 32:43Speaker 5: it opens up the things at the next level. And
- 32:46Speaker 5: his patience early taking that was great. I think he
- 32:50Speaker 5: played the game the way that I thought that they
- 32:52Speaker 5: would build it for him. Put him on the move,
- 32:54Speaker 5: some quicks, some play actions, and get some shots. It
- 32:57Speaker 5: wasn't perfect, but I will say this is an energy
- 33:00Speaker 5: that he brings to the team that is undeniable. And
- 33:03Speaker 5: I know that Kevin Stefanski has kind of downplayed everything
- 33:06Speaker 5: now that there is a conspiracy against him, but he's
- 33:08Speaker 5: trying to kind of take some of that. But I
- 33:10Speaker 5: think if you're looking at that team, you can feel
- 33:13Speaker 5: the energy of the team. When a certain quarterback is
- 33:16Speaker 5: in there's an energy there. And so it'll be interesting
- 33:19Speaker 5: to see what the Browns decide to do if Dylan
- 33:21Speaker 5: Gable is cleared from concussion protocol. Do they go back
- 33:25Speaker 5: to Dylan Gable as the starter?
- 33:27Speaker 3: Should do it? Like, it's an interesting discussion that they're
- 33:29Speaker 3: gonna have to have internal.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Well, you know, just from that point Buck, you know
- 33:33Speaker 2: the throw to Isaiah Bond, you know, down to the
- 33:35Speaker 2: goal line. I mean, the whole bench, everybody jumped, Miles Garrett,
- 33:39Speaker 2: everybody jumped off the bench as soon as they saw.
- 33:41Speaker 2: I mean it's fifty five yards on the run, Miles
- 33:44Speaker 2: just chasing him, Kyrie Wilson is chasing him and he
- 33:48Speaker 2: let that thing fly. Dylan Gabriel can't make that throw, Like,
- 33:51Speaker 2: it's just not going to do it the throw to.
- 33:54Speaker 4: Jerry Judy, Like, I don't know what Judy was doing.
- 33:56Speaker 3: I mean hop skipping a jump and holding the ball
- 33:58Speaker 3: like a loaf of bread.
- 34:00Speaker 2: DJ and all my time to watching football high school level,
- 34:03Speaker 2: maybe in California they do those.
- 34:05Speaker 4: Kind of things.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Herd boy, he's not a California kid.
- 34:10Speaker 4: I I haven't seen that before.
- 34:11Speaker 2: That was like not to But anyways, I'm with you, Buck.
- 34:15Speaker 2: There is a comptable uh support from this team for him,
- 34:20Speaker 2: maybe because of what he's gone through. Who knows, like,
- 34:23Speaker 2: but maybe it's just because he's likable. I don't know,
- 34:25Speaker 2: Like I'm not none of us are in the locker room,
- 34:27Speaker 2: so but you could feel it though it was. It
- 34:30Speaker 2: was permeating throughout the game when he was out there,
- 34:33Speaker 2: and uh they were they were openly cheering for him
- 34:36Speaker 2: to do well. And if I'm Kevin Stefanski regardless of Gill, like,
- 34:41Speaker 2: I'm I got to see.
- 34:42Speaker 1: What he can do. Yeah, I want to see more. Man,
- 34:45Speaker 1: there was encouraging signs. I mean, look, the Raiders think,
- 34:48Speaker 1: but he did some really good things things we haven't
- 34:50Speaker 1: seen there. And trust me as someone who's worked in
- 34:53Speaker 1: that organization. Even though it was a long time ago.
- 34:55Speaker 1: This is an organization that's not done a ton of
- 34:57Speaker 1: winning and having somebody with with the confidence and the
- 35:01Speaker 1: belief that that is important.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Man.
- 35:04Speaker 1: You got to if you're going to turn that ship
- 35:06Speaker 1: around there with the way things have gone, you need
- 35:08Speaker 1: somebody who has that type of belief. We saw it
- 35:10Speaker 1: with Jim Harbordy went to Stanford. It was like he's
- 35:12Speaker 1: he must be crazy. He thinks he can you can't
- 35:14Speaker 1: win there. Like, yeah, I know he thinks he Kim,
- 35:16Speaker 1: you can't win there. You need somebody with that conference,
- 35:19Speaker 1: whether it's a coach, the quarterback. Yeah, he brings that book.
- 35:23Speaker 3: He certainly does, man. And I mean you could just
- 35:26Speaker 3: feel the vibe and the energy.
- 35:27Speaker 5: And let's be honest, like this is part of a
- 35:29Speaker 5: long term play when it comes to this team. I
- 35:31Speaker 5: think it was interesting though I know it cast some
- 35:34Speaker 5: of the buzz, but Deshaun Watson being on the sideline
- 35:37Speaker 5: talking to Shader kind of being around and being I
- 35:40Speaker 5: would say a bit of a mentor. I thought that
- 35:43Speaker 5: was interesting that they took him on the trip the
- 35:45Speaker 5: first time that he's traveled all year, and you see
- 35:48Speaker 5: the interactions and you see how they were going through
- 35:51Speaker 5: the surface and looking at the clips. It's an interesting
- 35:54Speaker 5: observation because they have to make a decision on the
- 35:56Speaker 5: sean too, but for shr Duur and the other quarterbacks
- 35:59Speaker 5: to lean to someone who has had a level of
- 36:01Speaker 5: success in this league, even though it hasn't looked great
- 36:04Speaker 5: of late. I thought it was just interesting that Deshaun
- 36:06Speaker 5: Watson was dead engage. I think he kind of speaks
- 36:08Speaker 5: to a little bit of the energy that we talked
- 36:10Speaker 5: about on the sideline.
- 36:11Speaker 2: You know, it's interesting because every rookie class, you always
- 36:15Speaker 2: feel like there's a bond naturally when you come in
- 36:18Speaker 2: together and you watch Judkins and Samson and Fannin and
- 36:23Speaker 2: Schwassinger and Graham out the door, like the whole draft
- 36:27Speaker 2: classes out there are all making plays. Ah, and so
- 36:31Speaker 2: it's kind of interesting to see, like you can just
- 36:33Speaker 2: imagine the fraternity that they might feel as a group.
- 36:38Speaker 2: Guy We're going to be the guys that turn this
- 36:40Speaker 2: organization around because they all they all can play, they've
- 36:44Speaker 2: all earned the spot, and they show up every week
- 36:47Speaker 2: and now sit doors on the field, you feel like
- 36:49Speaker 2: this is this can complete that rookie class as they
- 36:52Speaker 2: try to finish this season as strong as they can.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Yeah, a little hope, a little optimism there for the Browns,
- 36:57Speaker 1: much needed.
- 36:58Speaker 3: Very cool to see.
- 37:00Speaker 1: This has been fun, bald You always enjoy your time
- 37:02Speaker 1: on these Mondays. Man, We appreciate you, buddy. You see
- 37:04Speaker 1: you next week. You next week. There he goes Brian
- 37:08Speaker 1: Balding or Buck fun weekend of games. Looking forward to
- 37:11Speaker 1: getting into some more of this stuff here over the
- 37:13Speaker 1: next couple of days as we get a little closer
- 37:15Speaker 1: to Thanksgivings.
- 37:17Speaker 3: You can't beat it, man, Thanksgiving football It's awesome now.
- 37:20Speaker 5: It brings everything back into it, right man to culminate
- 37:22Speaker 5: it like with a Thanksgiving Day smort export of games.
- 37:25Speaker 3: But at a time we talk about.
- 37:27Speaker 5: Gratitude and me and graces, and at a time we
- 37:30Speaker 5: work so hard sometimes you can get the small blessings
- 37:32Speaker 5: that everyone gets. I'm excited that this week ends up
- 37:35Speaker 5: being a reset moment for everybody to appreciate the things,
- 37:40Speaker 5: the positive things that they have going on in their
- 37:41Speaker 5: life and even some of the adversities that you face
- 37:43Speaker 5: and what comes out of facing those things. So I'm like,
- 37:46Speaker 5: I'm excited for the football week, but I'm more excited
- 37:48Speaker 5: for all the things they go around this holiday no doubt.
- 37:51Speaker 3: I hope you guys have enjoyed this one.
- 37:52Speaker 1: We'll see you next time right here on move sticks.
