- 1:30Speaker 5: are very excited to have tire Montgomery join us now
- 1:35Speaker 5: receiver from John Carrol, somebody we've talked about all morning long.
- 1:40Speaker 5: And tire Man, first off, before you get to your story,
- 1:42Speaker 5: which is is an incredible story, congratulations man so far
- 1:46Speaker 5: on performing here at the Senior Ball And Man, I'm
- 1:50Speaker 5: playing this game eighteen years ago, so a long time ago,
- 1:53Speaker 5: but I still remember the pressure of being here playing
- 1:56Speaker 5: in this game, man, and you have certainly risen to
- 1:58Speaker 5: the top the first two days. Has it been has
- 2:01Speaker 5: it been exciting? Nerve wracking? Like, how has this experience
- 2:04Speaker 5: been for you? Coming from John Carroll?
- 2:06Speaker 6: Uh, I wouldn't say nervous a story word. I think
- 2:10Speaker 6: more anxious. Yeah, you know, coming from a D three school,
- 2:12Speaker 6: I think I just want to so discuss and sow
- 2:14Speaker 6: all the guys. As you know, just because I'm a
- 2:16Speaker 6: D three guy doesn't mean I'm a D three player,
- 2:18Speaker 6: And I just want to show down, hang with the
- 2:20Speaker 6: best of them, you know.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, So, Tyer, we so yesterday after practice, So
- 2:24Speaker 1: you made some great plays the first day, and I
- 2:26Speaker 1: was like, all right, cool, it makes some great plays.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Then come out the second day do the same thing.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And I'm sitting there and I'm watching. Of course you're
- 2:31Speaker 1: making like the big plays that everybody kind of sees
- 2:34Speaker 1: that are kind of making the rounds right now. But
- 2:35Speaker 1: I watched you yesterday rout running, crisp rout run and everything,
- 2:38Speaker 1: like all the little things, even when you didn't get
- 2:40Speaker 1: the ball, it looked looked really good. So I'm like afterwards,
- 2:42Speaker 1: I'm like, all right, let's look up this guy's story,
- 2:44Speaker 1: like where's he Frond, Like what's where is John Carroll?
- 2:46Speaker 1: Like you know this is And so we started looking
- 2:48Speaker 1: up the story and so so we're we're ESPN and
- 2:51Speaker 1: Baton Rouge. So I was like, man, this guy's got
- 2:53Speaker 1: some he's from the Woodlands, he's from the Houston area.
- 2:56Speaker 1: He uh. Started look up the story and it's an
- 2:58Speaker 1: incredible story. And so we we kind of told our
- 3:00Speaker 1: listeners in Louisiana kind of about this the story of
- 3:04Speaker 1: how you've you made it to John Carroll and how
- 3:06Speaker 1: you made it to the senior ball and it all
- 3:08Speaker 1: started with basketball, right, Yeah, So you grew up to
- 3:11Speaker 1: you're a basketball player, no football, no football, that's right.
- 3:14Speaker 1: And so you grew up in around the Woodlands area
- 3:18Speaker 1: and you actually were at LSU for a semester, isn't
- 3:22Speaker 1: that right? Yeah, yes, sir, And so you were walking
- 3:24Speaker 1: on on basketball. Okay, so who what what year was that?
- 3:29Speaker 1: Nineteen twenty nineteen fantastic and so frea good year for LSU. Yeah, football, right,
- 3:35Speaker 1: all yeah, that's awesome. And so how did the whole All? Right,
- 3:40Speaker 1: basketball has been my life. I'm good at basketball, I'm
- 3:42Speaker 1: trying to do this and that. You leave LSU and
- 3:46Speaker 1: you go back home, and then all of a sudden
- 3:49Speaker 1: you decide, hey, let's just try a new sport.
- 3:51Speaker 6: How did that? How'd that come about? So the reason
- 3:54Speaker 6: why I had to go back home was my mother
- 3:55Speaker 6: got sick. Okay, so I had to come home, and
- 3:58Speaker 6: you know, it was around the COVID era, so a
- 4:00Speaker 6: lot of stuff was shut down and the vision for
- 4:02Speaker 6: basketball was no longer it. So I was just going
- 4:06Speaker 6: to try to get a job and just try to
- 4:07Speaker 6: find my way in life.
- 4:08Speaker 1: And you know, with COVID you couldn't even do that.
- 4:10Speaker 6: So then one day me and my brother was in
- 4:12Speaker 6: the backyard throwing the football round. He was like, look, bro,
- 4:15Speaker 6: you might as well do this. You ain't, so I'm like,
- 4:18Speaker 6: I mean, I guess why not?
- 4:20Speaker 1: So then.
- 4:22Speaker 6: I started like working out running rouse with my brother.
- 4:24Speaker 6: He taught me how to run my first ever route,
- 4:26Speaker 6: which was a slant route. I didn't know how to
- 4:28Speaker 6: do anything hurt. So the end up been rolling to
- 4:31Speaker 6: the University of Houston. I tried to walk on there,
- 4:33Speaker 6: but you know, around COVID time, a lot of guys
- 4:36Speaker 6: got that COVID year, so they came back right so
- 4:38Speaker 6: they told me there was no more roster spots available
- 4:40Speaker 6: for me. So then I was like, well, I got
- 4:42Speaker 6: to figure out a way of how, you know, I
- 4:44Speaker 6: get some tape because I don't have any high school
- 4:45Speaker 6: take to get on the college roster. So then I
- 4:47Speaker 6: ended up uploading some routes on air onto Facebook, and
- 4:50Speaker 6: there was a guy named Adie Franca who has a
- 4:52Speaker 6: flag football team out of Miami, Florida. He was like, look, bro,
- 4:55Speaker 6: we got a tournament in Vegas. You might as well
- 4:56Speaker 6: come out. Let's see what you got. So I went
- 4:58Speaker 6: out there, I did my thing, and I ended up
- 5:00Speaker 6: getting the opportunity to be on the Olympics for flag football.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Oh wow, yeah wow.
- 5:04Speaker 6: They told me for I to do that, I would
- 5:05Speaker 6: lose all my college jus ability. Yeah, And I was like,
- 5:07Speaker 6: you know, my goal wasn't to play flag football like
- 5:10Speaker 6: right college football. So then Eddie Franca actually knew a
- 5:14Speaker 6: guy named Shorts do Shorts is the office of quality
- 5:16Speaker 6: control coach for the forty nine ers Right and at
- 5:18Speaker 6: the time he was at Maszoo. So I formed like
- 5:21Speaker 6: a highlight tape together my flag football clips.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Eddie helped me get.
- 5:25Speaker 6: Into Deuce andduce it to like Mazoo, and a couple
- 5:27Speaker 6: other schools and a lot of schools were all interested
- 5:30Speaker 6: in me.
- 5:30Speaker 1: But the only thing was that.
- 5:32Speaker 6: I never put on short pass my life, right, Yeah
- 5:34Speaker 6: that was a fly yeah yeah, So it made sense
- 5:37Speaker 6: it was valid. So then my my film ended up
- 5:40Speaker 6: getting into Nickel State, and that was my first goal.
- 5:42Speaker 6: I was at in twenty twenty two, so they took
- 5:44Speaker 6: the chance from me. I walked on there the first
- 5:46Speaker 6: year I was there. I was ineligible because I switched
- 5:48Speaker 6: my major like four or five times in school and
- 5:50Speaker 6: I didn't have enough credit towards the designated major. So
- 5:53Speaker 6: twenty twenty three year came around still a walk on.
- 5:56Speaker 6: I was a starter at the beginning of the season.
- 5:57Speaker 6: I ended up missing the game because I had an
- 5:59Speaker 6: ankle injury. I had sprained my right ankle. So once
- 6:02Speaker 6: I came back, I kind of just lost my spot.
- 6:04Speaker 1: You know, you know that goes. So then I had
- 6:07Speaker 1: to figure out what to do.
- 6:09Speaker 6: So I entered the transfer portal and the n CUBA
- 6:12Speaker 6: told me that I had no more D.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Want elgibility left.
- 6:14Speaker 6: So I was like, well, you know, I kind of
- 6:16Speaker 6: gotta go down. I only had D two D three
- 6:19Speaker 6: years left, right, So then I.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Didn't know that's the thing that.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Was like something you only had so many in this
- 6:26Speaker 4: but you could go down.
- 6:26Speaker 6: Yeah, And they said that because since I enrolled into college,
- 6:31Speaker 6: my clock has started always been a four time student.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Gotcha.
- 6:34Speaker 6: So then Eddie, the same guy who ran the flag
- 6:37Speaker 6: football team, knew my head coach Jeff Barman, who's not
- 6:40Speaker 6: a head coach for Bucknell at John Carroll and coach
- 6:45Speaker 6: B hit me up and it was like, look, tal like,
- 6:47Speaker 6: we love your film. Like within the first thirty seconds,
- 6:49Speaker 6: he knew, like.
- 6:49Speaker 1: You know, he wanted me as a player.
- 6:51Speaker 6: And I don't know if people noticed, but John Carroll
- 6:53Speaker 6: has over forty plus lums in the NFL.
- 6:56Speaker 1: We were going down the list, don't you little incredible?
- 7:01Speaker 1: But you have to do like when you started talking
- 7:03Speaker 1: to him like, all right, we got a google best,
- 7:04Speaker 1: we got to see what.
- 7:06Speaker 6: I started googling it, and you know a lot of
- 7:08Speaker 6: people don't know about that school, and I saw like
- 7:10Speaker 6: Nick Casserio, Frank Wrosses, like people down the street. That's
- 7:13Speaker 6: John Carroll Lombs. And then they play with my head
- 7:15Speaker 6: coach as well. You know, Brian Poland is my a
- 7:17Speaker 6: d who is now the head coach?
- 7:18Speaker 1: Yeah he was.
- 7:20Speaker 6: Yeah, So then he sold me on that. And then
- 7:23Speaker 6: after that, I'm like, shoot, I'm going to John Kelly.
- 7:26Speaker 6: You know you can get that's right. Then the rest
- 7:28Speaker 6: was history after that.
- 7:29Speaker 1: How was that going up to Ohio? It's in the
- 7:32Speaker 1: Cleveland area. Yeah, yeah, you know it's beautiful.
- 7:34Speaker 6: It's just too cold, you know, coming from Houston going
- 7:38Speaker 6: to Cleveland, that's just a big weather weather shop me.
- 7:41Speaker 6: But I mean other than that, you know, I had
- 7:42Speaker 6: a great time up there, and you know, it just
- 7:44Speaker 6: was a blessing to my coaches to you know, take
- 7:47Speaker 6: the chance on me and let me like mess up
- 7:49Speaker 6: to learn the game. You know, I really had to
- 7:51Speaker 6: get my feet wet, and I think they let me
- 7:52Speaker 6: do that.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Yeah, and you were there for two years. Yeah, I
- 7:55Speaker 1: was there for two years. Yeah. Yeah, So like we've
- 7:58Speaker 1: seen we've seen the I felt basketball players that were
- 8:01Speaker 1: college basketball players that never really played that go and
- 8:03Speaker 1: have success in the NFL. Well, you've kind of been
- 8:06Speaker 1: playing now you've been playing football. How was it like
- 8:08Speaker 1: the first time you put that helmet on, that shoulder pads?
- 8:11Speaker 1: You know, you say your brother taught you how to
- 8:12Speaker 1: run a slant route in the yard, you know what
- 8:15Speaker 1: I mean? Like that was had to been like a
- 8:17Speaker 1: steep learning curve because it's you know, even the basketball
- 8:20Speaker 1: players in college that have gone to play in the
- 8:22Speaker 1: NFL at least say I think they played high school ball,
- 8:25Speaker 1: you know what I mean? But come like first time out, Like,
- 8:27Speaker 1: how was it like? Were you able? Like how was
- 8:29Speaker 1: your coach? Did you have any coaches that were just
- 8:31Speaker 1: like this guy was like a catalyst for me to
- 8:33Speaker 1: like learn the position.
- 8:36Speaker 6: Well, first off, when I first put on shoulder pads,
- 8:38Speaker 6: I remember I was in the locker room. I had
- 8:40Speaker 6: asked the guys like how do I how do I get?
- 8:46Speaker 6: You know, I got a few trainers that help me
- 8:48Speaker 6: along the way. A footwork King, he's actually a football
- 8:53Speaker 6: trainer out in Houston, Texas. And then there's another trainer
- 8:56Speaker 6: named Timboute with three six nine sports and fittingess he
- 8:58Speaker 6: held me along the way. But as far as like
- 9:01Speaker 6: releases and stuff like that, I kind of just when
- 9:04Speaker 6: I got to Nicholas, they used to come to YouTube
- 9:05Speaker 6: because a lot of the stuff I picked up off
- 9:07Speaker 6: for y yeah.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:08Speaker 6: Now, as far as like learning the smartest of the games,
- 9:11Speaker 6: my receiver coaches along the way and my head coaches,
- 9:13Speaker 6: I used to send them like text messages one and
- 9:15Speaker 6: two o'clock in the morning, just asking them, like, you know,
- 9:18Speaker 6: how do I learn this rope call? Except but I'll
- 9:20Speaker 6: watch old spring clips of people that it wasn't even me,
- 9:23Speaker 6: it was just other players in the past, and just
- 9:25Speaker 6: will learn from their mistakes and just you know, take
- 9:27Speaker 6: what they did right, and take what they did wrong
- 9:28Speaker 6: and apply it to my game. So you know, I
- 9:30Speaker 6: knew what to do once I got in the game.
- 9:32Speaker 6: So I think just over time, I think applying myself
- 9:35Speaker 6: and using the resources around me, because that's the one
- 9:37Speaker 6: thing I didn't do in basketball. I always kind of
- 9:39Speaker 6: just let my athleticism get by, and I think once
- 9:42Speaker 6: I failed in basketball, I knew exactly what to do correctly.
- 9:45Speaker 6: Once I got the football like I had to use
- 9:48Speaker 6: you know, the people around me that were willing to
- 9:50Speaker 6: help me. So I think that's just what helped me overall.
- 9:53Speaker 5: So you went to another All Star game, correct America,
- 9:57Speaker 5: and that's how they heard about you. I think Drew
- 9:59Speaker 5: Fabian was telling his story that he started getting calls, Hey, Drew, like,
- 10:03Speaker 5: you've got to have this guy down and look, I
- 10:05Speaker 5: know he played Division III, but just trust me, you
- 10:07Speaker 5: got to have down here. So for you, you go
- 10:09Speaker 5: to that game, you probably think that that's it and
- 10:11Speaker 5: you're just going to continue to get ready for the
- 10:13Speaker 5: draft and probably didn't think you'd end up here in Mobil.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:16Speaker 6: So I mean shout out to coach Scott Phillips first,
- 10:19Speaker 6: because you know, he's the director that the American Ball
- 10:22Speaker 6: so you know, I just want to thank him for
- 10:24Speaker 6: letting me come out there and do my thing.
- 10:26Speaker 1: You know.
- 10:27Speaker 6: Once that happened, I kind of I'm a big like
- 10:29Speaker 6: journalist guy. I need to manifest and put all my
- 10:31Speaker 6: goals and stuff into my journal and I write it
- 10:34Speaker 6: as if it already happened. So I think the main
- 10:36Speaker 6: thing for me was like I just believed in myself.
- 10:38Speaker 6: I went out there and did my thing.
- 10:39Speaker 1: And I remember the.
- 10:40Speaker 6: Morning of the American Game, the American Bowl game, Coach
- 10:43Speaker 6: Scott called me. I was like, are you ready to
- 10:45Speaker 6: catch some pass for me today? And I was like, yeah,
- 10:47Speaker 6: he's all right, good because you just got to invite
- 10:49Speaker 6: to the Senior Bowl.
- 10:50Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, like you know, my heart shot.
- 10:53Speaker 6: I was like, okay, Like everything I've been asked for
- 10:55Speaker 6: is really happening. So you know, you know, it's a
- 10:59Speaker 6: blessing I'm here. I mean, I want to think Coach
- 11:01Speaker 6: Drew for you know, let me come here and just
- 11:02Speaker 6: showing my abilities and showing, you know, everybody that you know,
- 11:05Speaker 6: I can hang with the best of them, even though
- 11:07Speaker 6: I've just been playing for two and a half years.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Yeah, you know they don't saying iron sharpens iron, right,
- 11:12Speaker 1: So you're getting a chance to sharpen your skills and
- 11:16Speaker 1: learn different release techniques, getting out of in and out
- 11:19Speaker 1: of break techniques against the best of the best, right, Like,
- 11:22Speaker 1: you can't get any better than this competition right here.
- 11:25Speaker 1: How do you think you've improved, you know, through the
- 11:26Speaker 1: American Bowl and then this week it's going against the best.
- 11:30Speaker 1: You got one thing to do, Like, there's only one
- 11:32Speaker 1: option you get better or you get beat right, So
- 11:34Speaker 1: it's like, have you what you've seen this week? Do
- 11:38Speaker 1: you see yourself improving already? Yeah? I see myself improving
- 11:41Speaker 1: big time.
- 11:41Speaker 6: You know, coming from Division three, you don't really see
- 11:44Speaker 6: press man coverage, like especially with me.
- 11:47Speaker 1: I got a lot of cloud coveras gonna beverage me. Yeah, yeah,
- 11:50Speaker 1: they backed off me.
- 11:51Speaker 6: So coming out here it was like I won some reps,
- 11:54Speaker 6: I lost some reps, but the reps that I've really
- 11:56Speaker 6: learned the most from the reps that I lost, because
- 11:58Speaker 6: it's like, Okay, I know exactly what to do next
- 12:00Speaker 6: time or when I go back home, I know what
- 12:02Speaker 6: part of my games I need to clean up. It's
- 12:04Speaker 6: just I haven't really been able to test like my
- 12:06Speaker 6: releases against man coverage and stuff like that, because like,
- 12:09Speaker 6: you know, I didn't see that at all the two
- 12:11Speaker 6: years I've been playing in John Carroll. So you know,
- 12:14Speaker 6: I've just been you know, not being myself about beat
- 12:18Speaker 6: myself up about it. You know, these guys are talented
- 12:20Speaker 6: as well, and I just you know, I got to
- 12:21Speaker 6: take it for what it is and just keep improving
- 12:23Speaker 6: my game, keep elevating.
- 12:24Speaker 5: What have the meeting has been like for you all
- 12:26Speaker 5: thirty two teams are here and you know, obviously they
- 12:28Speaker 5: want to get to know you.
- 12:29Speaker 1: And I'm sure you've had to tell your story.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, a couple of times here before.
- 12:33Speaker 5: But like, what's some of the feedback that you've got,
- 12:34Speaker 5: maybe from some of the coaches after being here a
- 12:36Speaker 5: couple of days and doing really well.
- 12:40Speaker 6: That we all bleed red, like, you know, just because
- 12:44Speaker 6: I'm just because I'm Division three. Don't look at it
- 12:46Speaker 6: like you know, you know this guy's from SEC or
- 12:49Speaker 6: he's from ACC and like just look at it like
- 12:50Speaker 6: you know, that's just another player across from you that
- 12:52Speaker 6: just want a different color helmets. So, you know, the
- 12:54Speaker 6: main thing at first, before we even started practices with that,
- 12:57Speaker 6: the coaches just wanted to see, like I guess how
- 13:00Speaker 6: I was going to compete, like, you know, if I
- 13:01Speaker 6: was gonna hold my own. And I feel like so far,
- 13:03Speaker 6: you know, I've been doing that, you know, so you know,
- 13:06Speaker 6: I just trying to be a man of my work.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, Well, certainly keep losing from or keep learning
- 13:11Speaker 1: from the bad reps, because that's how you get better
- 13:14Speaker 1: and keep making the players that are there. And I
- 13:18Speaker 1: love what you said about like writing things down you
- 13:21Speaker 1: like the power of the mind to say, like the
- 13:22Speaker 1: power of believing and and and so what's your journal
- 13:25Speaker 1: says next for you?
- 13:28Speaker 6: So I had three steps once I got the American
- 13:31Speaker 6: Bowl invite. It was the American Boat, the Senior Bowl,
- 13:33Speaker 6: and then the combo.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Yeah. So you know, if it happens, it happens.
- 13:36Speaker 6: If it doesn't, you know, just get ready for Pro
- 13:38Speaker 6: Day and just get ready for the Jeff and get
- 13:40Speaker 6: ready for the next chapter.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Like yeah, well, I think from always saying get ready
- 13:44Speaker 1: to put on the NFL helmet.
- 13:45Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Man, congratulations on not only just like
- 13:48Speaker 5: getting here, but getting here and then performing really well.
- 13:52Speaker 5: And I know you still got to practice today. I

- 17:24Speaker 5: with an incredible story that started at.
- 17:27Speaker 1: LSU, And it started at LSU if if you are
- 17:32Speaker 1: just tuning in and you missed the interview we just
- 17:34Speaker 1: had with tire Montgomery, I would do yourself a favor
- 17:38Speaker 1: and go watch it. You can like fast forward through
- 17:40Speaker 1: our voices if you want to. Just go listen to
- 17:43Speaker 1: him speak and tell his story while you talk about
- 17:47Speaker 1: perseverance and the power of the mind and the power
- 17:50Speaker 1: of your mindset and belief and painting a picture in
- 17:53Speaker 1: your head of a goal and not just taking like
- 17:56Speaker 1: the easy road and like what's right in front of
- 17:58Speaker 1: you had goal in mind when he first decided to
- 18:04Speaker 1: go the football route. How incredible was it? We were
- 18:07Speaker 1: just talking about this at break. The kid was offered
- 18:10Speaker 1: to go be on the Olympic team for flag football. Yeah,
- 18:14Speaker 1: the Olympic team. He had never played tackle football in
- 18:16Speaker 1: his life and he just started by playing catch with
- 18:19Speaker 1: his brother. All of a sudden, all of a sudden,
- 18:23Speaker 1: he's getting told no because of COVID, you can't there's
- 18:25Speaker 1: no roster spots, blah blah blah, you've never played tackle football, Like,
- 18:28Speaker 1: why would we make a roster spot for you? And
- 18:30Speaker 1: he gets offered to play on the Olympic flag football team?
- 18:33Speaker 4: Like the Olympics is every kid's dream.
- 18:35Speaker 1: And guess what he turned him down.
- 18:37Speaker 4: Yeah, because that would mess up my eligibility.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Because you don't get you're not eligible anymore.
- 18:42Speaker 4: Probably would be now right you came back then in
- 18:44Speaker 4: twenty twenty one.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that was he said, No, that's not where I
- 18:47Speaker 1: want to go with this. I want to go to
- 18:50Speaker 1: a place that everybody's telling me no right now. But anyway,
- 18:54Speaker 1: you can check out that interview on our socials on YouTube.
- 18:57Speaker 1: It was great and we're cheering for hard to cheer
- 19:00Speaker 1: for that guy.
- 19:01Speaker 5: I am rooting for him no matter where he goes,
- 19:03Speaker 5: even the Raiders.
- 19:05Speaker 4: How about that, even the Raiders. I'd root for that guy.
- 19:08Speaker 5: I would too. Man, what a great story, A great
- 19:11Speaker 5: young man. I love the journal stuff. And great question
- 19:13Speaker 5: by you. He's like, I write down my goals even
- 19:16Speaker 5: before they happen, and like things that I am saying
- 19:19Speaker 5: are going to happen, like who American Bowls, Senior Bowl
- 19:23Speaker 5: combine that many people get the invite from the American
- 19:26Speaker 5: Bull to the Senior Bowl East West Shrine Game.
- 19:29Speaker 4: Yeah, sure that happens all the time, the American Bull.
- 19:31Speaker 5: I'm gonna be honest with you, I don't know what
- 19:33Speaker 5: the hell the American Bull is I know the Hula
- 19:36Speaker 5: Bowl and shrine. I don't even know if the Hula
- 19:39Speaker 5: bull is a thing. You're right, I ain't never heard
- 19:41Speaker 5: the American Bull.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I wonder what once we got look at what the
- 19:43Speaker 1: American bole was.
- 19:44Speaker 5: He goes out there and then gets an invite because
- 19:46Speaker 5: Drew Fabianies. I don't know if you remember Matt, but
- 19:48Speaker 5: on Monday he told us like about the guy that's like, hey, yeah,
- 19:51Speaker 5: they kept telling me you've got to have this guy mobile.
- 19:54Speaker 5: But obviously we didn't know who it was at the time.
- 19:56Speaker 5: Fast forward here on Thursday, we definitely know who it is.
- 20:00Speaker 5: So it's a great story. It's a great example of
- 20:03Speaker 5: betting on yourself, not giving up, not taking no for
- 20:06Speaker 5: an answer, and believing that you are the person you
- 20:09Speaker 5: think you can be. And remarkable story because he is
- 20:12Speaker 5: out here cooking dbs that are power for dbs, guys
- 20:16Speaker 5: that are going to hear their name in Aprils draft
- 20:19Speaker 5: in Pittsburgh and hopefully he gets that Combine invite. Hopefully
- 20:22Speaker 5: they don't overthink it and they give him an opportunity
- 20:25Speaker 5: to go shine on that stage.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he'll be there. I hope.
- 20:29Speaker 5: So you know sometimes the NFL and the combine invites are.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and again like, look, everybody can make a play. Everybody,
- 20:35Speaker 1: you know, everybody can make a highlight film and look good,
- 20:37Speaker 1: Like any quarterback can make a highlight film no matter
- 20:40Speaker 1: what your age is and look like Joe Montagna for
- 20:42Speaker 1: a few plays. So like the can go, you can
- 20:44Speaker 1: go make a play, yeah at the Senior Bowl, but
- 20:48Speaker 1: to consistently do it, to consistently be the one that
- 20:52Speaker 1: the play you make is the one that everybody on
- 20:54Speaker 1: your team loses their mind and starts in a row.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Yesterday two of them to end practice after having it
- 21:00Speaker 1: the first day as well. Yeah, but it's just not
- 21:02Speaker 1: that it's not a fluke, it's the route right, and
- 21:03Speaker 1: it's a consistency. And how many twenty two year olds,
- 21:07Speaker 1: I don't know how old he is, twenty three, twenty four,
- 21:08Speaker 1: whatever he is, how many have that mindset of just
- 21:11Speaker 1: what he's doing, so good for him, wish him what.
- 21:14Speaker 5: Yeah, and you said it and it's a good point.
- 21:17Speaker 5: Like Antonio Gates played high school football. Antonio Gates was
- 21:20Speaker 5: recruited by coach Saban to play in Michigan State. He
- 21:23Speaker 5: actually like signed with him Jimmy Graham played high school football.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Like all these.
- 21:28Speaker 5: Guys played high school football.
- 21:30Speaker 1: They knew how to put the packs.
- 21:34Speaker 5: Straps and I got a buck with it.
- 21:37Speaker 1: At Nichols, I had to ask people on the team
- 21:39Speaker 1: how to put the the shoulder pads over there.
- 21:41Speaker 5: YouTube, so like a completely different story than even those right.
- 21:47Speaker 1: And that's the other thing he said. His nickname Nichols
- 21:50Speaker 1: I believe was YouTube because he was YouTube and releases
- 21:53Speaker 1: and YouTube and like tops of routes and how to
- 21:56Speaker 1: put pads on. That's the nickname man.
- 21:59Speaker 5: Very cool, very cool rooting for Tyra Montgomery to get
- 22:02Speaker 5: that Combine invite, And like Matt said, I I hope
- 22:04Speaker 5: he truly gets that opportunity to go to Indy and uh,
- 22:08Speaker 5: you know, showcase what he can do there, like I do.
- 22:11Speaker 1: I don't even know.
- 22:11Speaker 5: I don't know how he would test, but he deserves
- 22:13Speaker 5: to at least have the opportunity to go out there
- 22:15Speaker 5: and do that.
- 22:16Speaker 4: And I hope he finds his way. I think he
- 22:18Speaker 4: for sure gets into a camp.
- 22:19Speaker 5: Hope he finds his way to hearing his name in
- 22:21Speaker 5: the April draft coming up in Pittsburgh.
- 22:23Speaker 1: So very cool story.
- 22:25Speaker 5: Certainly somebody that's been a standout here at the Senior Bowl,
- 22:29Speaker 5: I mean walk on l s U basketball player, to
- 22:32Speaker 5: walk on player at Houston, to flag football, to you know,
- 22:37Speaker 5: putting together flag football highlights to send to tackle football coaches.
- 22:44Speaker 1: He didn't even like get the years?
- 22:48Speaker 4: Was it Nichols as well there for a little bit.
- 22:50Speaker 5: Got Wally pipped. He said, got lost his spot because
- 22:54Speaker 5: of injury.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Yep, I know, you know how it goes.
- 22:57Speaker 4: He could have quit about five different times.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Though.
- 23:00Speaker 5: He's definitely been a star, not only in the national
- 23:03Speaker 5: team but here in Mobile. What about some other players
- 23:08Speaker 5: that stand out to you because another smaller school guy
- 23:11Speaker 5: that we had on the show on Monday, Cole Peyton,
- 23:14Speaker 5: has made some really good plays.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Now he's a lefty.
- 23:17Speaker 5: It's hard to find a lefty where're like, oh man,
- 23:20Speaker 5: that looks smooth. It just it doesn't happen very often.
- 23:22Speaker 5: Even the really good lefties does not really look smooth.
- 23:25Speaker 5: It looks different coming out of their hand. But I
- 23:28Speaker 5: feel like he has elevated himself. He's made some really
- 23:31Speaker 5: good throws, some tight window throws, some back shoulders, some
- 23:35Speaker 5: throws to the tight end where he's going to the
- 23:37Speaker 5: back of the helmet of the defender, allowing his guy
- 23:39Speaker 5: to go make a play.
- 23:40Speaker 1: He made two or three of those over the last
- 23:42Speaker 1: couple of days. I looked it up.
- 23:43Speaker 4: He's actually projected to be a fourth round pick.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Does he really? Yeah? Yeah, I he certainly looks apart.
- 23:50Speaker 1: He's kind of got some jacked arm muscles. My only
- 23:54Speaker 1: fear six my one knock on him. He kind of
- 23:58Speaker 1: looks like he might have a six pack, And we
- 24:00Speaker 1: all know that there's no good quarterbacks that have a
- 24:02Speaker 1: six pack, So maybe not do so many setups. I
- 24:08Speaker 1: don't know, it's not confirmed. It just kind of got
- 24:10Speaker 1: that feeling.
- 24:11Speaker 5: His is North Dakota strong nough so maybe he got
- 24:14Speaker 5: a six pack from like carrying logs through the snow,
- 24:17Speaker 5: Like maybe he's.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Got that's fine Russian, But seriously named me a quarterback,
- 24:22Speaker 1: right that Super Bowl winning quarterback Jalen Hurts would be
- 24:25Speaker 1: the only one. Yeah.
- 24:29Speaker 5: Patrick mahomes famous dad Bod, but usually manning famous dad Bod.
- 24:34Speaker 1: We could say Jayleen Hurts not very consistent, you know,
- 24:39Speaker 1: so if you're a quarterback, make sure you do not
- 24:42Speaker 1: get a six pack.
- 24:43Speaker 5: I'm gonna say he's different just because of where he
- 24:45Speaker 5: grew up again six to two, two hundred and thirty pounds,
- 24:48Speaker 5: four seven forty ten and one fourth size hands.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Ye got some mids on him watching practic. Diego Pavia
- 25:02Speaker 1: has been the best quarterback in the on the national
- 25:05Speaker 1: team national team, on the American team. It's kind of
- 25:08Speaker 1: a heavyweight battle right now between nuss Meyer and Luke Altmeyer.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Luke Aalmeyers impressed me a whole lot, really great arm talent,
- 25:15Speaker 1: really handsy, like flips it off the light, real handsy
- 25:19Speaker 1: at the end. Now it kind of gets balls gotten
- 25:20Speaker 1: away from him a couple of times on some high throws,
- 25:23Speaker 1: just kind of getting a little too whippy with it.
- 25:27Speaker 1: But ness Meyer has done a really nice job so far.
- 25:31Speaker 1: He's playing with a really you could you could tell
- 25:33Speaker 1: in his training he's playing with a real wide platform,
- 25:36Speaker 1: real wide base and not having to not stride in
- 25:38Speaker 1: which is what we saw his issues this past season,
- 25:42Speaker 1: trying to change his mechanics, falling backwards a lot, trying
- 25:45Speaker 1: to throw, trying to create some sort of torque, use
- 25:47Speaker 1: his shoulder use his arm, uses legs a little bit, markus.
- 25:49Speaker 1: He couldn't use his abs because of the injury. Well,
- 25:52Speaker 1: right now, what you see now the good quarterbacks when
- 25:55Speaker 1: he used to be you know, you wanted a kind
- 25:57Speaker 1: of a narrow shoulder with bass and you wanted to
- 25:59Speaker 1: stride out to create power. No, it's a wide base
- 26:01Speaker 1: right now. We could look at how Drew Brees played,
- 26:04Speaker 1: Tom Brady played all the go wide base, wide base,
- 26:06Speaker 1: and you're all creating your power from one rotational we'll
- 26:10Speaker 1: circle all around you. You're not striding out anymore. And
- 26:12Speaker 1: we see that he's playing with that wide base, and
- 26:15Speaker 1: it also prevents you from going backwards. So it's just
- 26:17Speaker 1: another indicator to me that there was certainly some issues
- 26:21Speaker 1: that he was working through this season. Oh the ball
- 26:25Speaker 1: looks completely different. Oh my gosh. I mean Elandra posted
- 26:28Speaker 1: that picture yesterday of the scoreboard and it kind of
- 26:31Speaker 1: probably pisses lsu fans off a little bit of Day one.
- 26:35Speaker 1: The furthest ball thrown in the air, Nusmier, the fastest
- 26:39Speaker 1: ball throwns Meyer. So Kidney Steel spin it. But certainly
- 26:45Speaker 1: I've been ob pested with all the quarterbacks, all six
- 26:48Speaker 1: quarterbacks certainly look the part deserved to be or Taylor
- 26:52Speaker 1: Green has made some really nice throws. Mechanically, he is
- 26:57Speaker 1: a little bit shouldery but from a mechanical standpoint, it
- 27:00Speaker 1: didn't have like that that way up. He's more of
- 27:02Speaker 1: a guider, but there's a lot of successful quarterbacks that
- 27:04Speaker 1: are like that. He looked a little bit more comfortable
- 27:06Speaker 1: under center yesterday. Yeah, just another day. That first day.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Looked like a baby deer on ice, a little bit
- 27:11Speaker 1: underneath the center. Just so tall. He's six six, My god,
- 27:14Speaker 1: he's he's gigantic, but he's very impressive. I can tell
- 27:19Speaker 1: you those quarterbacks that first time they get in a
- 27:21Speaker 1: situation where they're throwing the NFL the duke, that ball
- 27:25Speaker 1: is touched by Heaven for sure, it's beautiful. So they're
- 27:31Speaker 1: spinning it. They're all doing well. But Diego Pavio. I
- 27:34Speaker 1: have been impressed with him. He does play with the
- 27:36Speaker 1: chip on his shoulder, and you got to interview him, yeah,
- 27:39Speaker 1: yesterday as well. Yeah, and we're trying to get that.
- 27:43Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, we're trying to see if we can get
- 27:44Speaker 5: it to play on here. Dennis, wake up so you
- 27:47Speaker 5: can send that to me. Truly, just because you're not
- 27:49Speaker 5: a morning show guy, Dennis, doesn't mean you can't wake
- 27:51Speaker 5: up early. Burg is a worm. He was, look he
- 27:56Speaker 5: was he's been coached. He's been coached, you know, to
- 27:59Speaker 5: talk to the media. H He obviously knew CD and
- 28:03Speaker 5: I and played in the SEC and so I think
- 28:04Speaker 5: that made me a little bit more comfortable. So we
- 28:06Speaker 5: had a conversation with him, but he still looked. I
- 28:09Speaker 5: asked him. I was like, I know how you play,
- 28:11Speaker 5: I know how you are. You got chip on your shoulder.
- 28:13Speaker 5: It's kind of what you know. You use his motivation.
- 28:15Speaker 5: I was like, what do you want to show everybody
- 28:17Speaker 5: this week? He said that I'm the best player in
- 28:19Speaker 5: the class. He didn't say best quarterback. He didn't say
- 28:22Speaker 5: the best player here. He said the best player in
- 28:24Speaker 5: the class. That was the first thing that he said.
- 28:27Speaker 5: So he still believes that he is a starting NFL
- 28:33Speaker 5: quarterback that is better than anybody else in this draft class.
- 28:35Speaker 1: And you said it. His delivery is tightened up, a
- 28:37Speaker 1: little bit softened.
- 28:39Speaker 5: Yeah, yes, yeah, you know, no curse words, no curse words.
- 28:45Speaker 5: The first time I spar at diego on where he
- 28:47Speaker 5: didn't trans I had forgotten that we had him at
- 28:50Speaker 5: media Day, I guess it would have been and like
- 28:52Speaker 5: in the first thirty seconds, I'm like, thank god, this
- 28:55Speaker 5: is serious.
- 28:55Speaker 1: XOM not OTV because of but.
- 28:59Speaker 5: He's you know, he's been coached obviously you can tell. Look,
- 29:03Speaker 5: I don't hate confidence, and he's got the ultimate confidence.
- 29:06Speaker 5: And I also and I told him this, I was like,
- 29:08Speaker 5: he elevates the play of those around him.
- 29:10Speaker 1: And is that something you've always had?
- 29:13Speaker 5: Is that something that just happened at Vanderbilt, because it
- 29:15Speaker 5: seems like everybody around you kind of tries to match
- 29:18Speaker 5: your energy. He has that ability. Now he is five
- 29:21Speaker 5: to nine and he is let's see what's that have
- 29:26Speaker 5: on here? Because you kept saying seven eights. This was
- 29:29Speaker 5: the even lower. It says five to nine and a half,
- 29:33Speaker 5: so down on it. So I don't know, but he's
- 29:37Speaker 5: definitely fine.
- 29:38Speaker 1: It doesn't like if you can make it old.
- 29:40Speaker 5: Katie last night I said, She's like, well, how tall
- 29:43Speaker 5: is I'm like, well, he's looking up to me, so so.
- 29:47Speaker 4: I don't know what that tells you. I think she said, oh.
- 29:50Speaker 1: No, he looked like he's looking at you like I
- 29:52Speaker 1: was looking at some of those tight ends yesterday when
- 29:54Speaker 1: I was asking him our four questions immediately exactly tall boys.
- 29:57Speaker 5: Yeah, So like yeah, he's he's not a tall fella.
- 30:02Speaker 1: But you know what, he's completed more passes over the
- 30:04Speaker 1: middle than everybody else, especially down the field, which has
- 30:07Speaker 1: been impressive. And that the national team, which is the
- 30:10Speaker 1: team he is on, their centers have been so late
- 30:13Speaker 1: snapping the ball, even more so than the American And
- 30:16Speaker 1: so even in these team situations where man, there's nothing
- 30:19Speaker 1: worse than getting the ball late and everybody else is
- 30:22Speaker 1: moving except for you. As a quarterback, you're getting stepped
- 30:24Speaker 1: on come from under center. You haven't really done it
- 30:26Speaker 1: much in your career. But he's still in all that
- 30:28Speaker 1: chaotic environment, he's doing the best about still getting his
- 30:31Speaker 1: head around reading the middle of the field, and I've
- 30:33Speaker 1: been pressed. He's made more throws over the middle of
- 30:36Speaker 1: the field than anybody else.
- 30:38Speaker 4: Will he get drafted in the first I don't know.
- 30:40Speaker 5: He's got six back either, so pretty good, I don't
- 30:42Speaker 5: think so. Will he get drafted in the first five rounds?
- 30:49Speaker 1: Hmm, I just don't know. I feel like there's going
- 30:54Speaker 1: to be a run on quarterbacks in the fifth, sixth,
- 30:56Speaker 1: seventh round for whatever reason. Maybe maybe he bumps into
- 30:59Speaker 1: the fourth. I think he's going to fall in that
- 31:03Speaker 1: four to six range, probably, especially if he can if
- 31:07Speaker 1: he continues to perform well here, which he's doing. I
- 31:11Speaker 1: think he looks like the best competitor, elevating the people
- 31:14Speaker 1: around him, making the plays that are there of his
- 31:17Speaker 1: team right now at the quarterback position. That's not a
- 31:20Speaker 1: slight to anybody else. Everybody's playing well. Just he's made
- 31:23Speaker 1: more plays and look more comfortable doing it. So yeah,
- 31:27Speaker 1: I think there's a chance. But I think that fifth
- 31:30Speaker 1: plus or minus one round is probably a good good spot.
- 31:34Speaker 5: Do you like my comp for his career Gardner Minshew?
- 31:38Speaker 5: Not ever like, hey, we're moving forward with Gardner Minshew,
- 31:42Speaker 5: but starter ability. If our guy goes down, we still
- 31:46Speaker 5: feel good about where we.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Can get to. Gonna play a long time in the NFL.
- 31:50Speaker 5: When he comes in, he's got this confidence about him
- 31:53Speaker 5: where it's not having to be a vanilla game plan.
- 31:56Speaker 5: I feel like he can have again. Gardner Minshew's had
- 31:59Speaker 5: a nice career. He started plenty of games in the NFL.
- 32:02Speaker 5: He's had some success. Yeah, Goman, he's going to play
- 32:06Speaker 5: for more years.
- 32:07Speaker 1: And there's a lot of quarterbacks that kind of fit
- 32:09Speaker 1: that mold that career path. The one thing that all
- 32:12Speaker 1: those guys do have is being like the epitome of
- 32:16Speaker 1: a team player and the pit I don't know if
- 32:19Speaker 1: he settles for I don't know if his mindset, how
- 32:23Speaker 1: he's going to handle not being the guy right right
- 32:27Speaker 1: like publicly and somebody like that. Those are the questions that, yeah,
- 32:31Speaker 1: that people are trying to get answered. Now. Now it
- 32:33Speaker 1: might be great, well, like he didn't handle coming in
- 32:36Speaker 1: second to the Heisman very well. I would say poor
- 32:39Speaker 1: to quite poor. Yeah, So that's just those are the questions.
- 32:42Speaker 1: You can tell that he's got a team around him.
- 32:44Speaker 1: He softened his messaging a lot, but he's you can
- 32:48Speaker 1: see I like that you were saying, like he sawved
- 32:50Speaker 1: his messaging, but he still had to get that little
- 32:52Speaker 1: diegoism in.
- 32:53Speaker 5: The Yeah, for sure, because somebody that I know he's
- 32:57Speaker 5: he said multiple times that he's a big of Johnny Manziel,
- 33:01Speaker 5: and he just went on a podcast with him and
- 33:03Speaker 5: their friends, their buds. Johnny Manziel was never a backup,
- 33:07Speaker 5: and Johnny Manziel had a chance in Cleveland. It was over,
- 33:09Speaker 5: that was it, and Johnny Manziel had kind of that
- 33:12Speaker 5: same streak of confidence and you know, believing he was
- 33:15Speaker 5: the best. And to your point, and you've been in
- 33:18Speaker 5: this role when you're not the guy, You've got to
- 33:20Speaker 5: be the ultimate teammate. There had to be Aaron Rodgers
- 33:23Speaker 5: eyes and ears on the sideline right when he came up.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Still have a job to do, yeah, and it's not
- 33:28Speaker 1: the job you want to be doing, right, but you
- 33:30Speaker 1: still have a role on the team.
- 33:32Speaker 5: It's when we asked you to play, you got to go,
- 33:34Speaker 5: and you certainly did that and played well anytime you
- 33:36Speaker 5: had to come in. But also when Aaron Rodgers came
- 33:39Speaker 5: off to the sideline, Hey, Matt, what did you see?
- 33:41Speaker 5: You got to give him the best information and not
- 33:43Speaker 5: trying to like take his job at every moment. If
- 33:45Speaker 5: it happened and it presented himself, you go play. But
- 33:49Speaker 5: you got still signals you do like you do have
- 33:53Speaker 5: to do things to help the team win. And to
- 33:55Speaker 5: your point, I don't know if that is something that
- 33:58Speaker 5: would intrigue a dig But.
- 34:00Speaker 1: We don't know. We don't, we don't, we'll find out.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Those are the questions though, that I'm sure scouts are
- 34:05Speaker 1: coming in this week and trying to get answered. So
- 34:08Speaker 1: but he certainly has done everything on the field this
- 34:11Speaker 1: week so far to garner the respect, certainly the confidence
- 34:17Speaker 1: and you know, confidence of someone to at least taking
- 34:19Speaker 1: the drought like he can do it if he throwing
- 34:20Speaker 1: passes over the middle with this offensive line center snapp
- 34:24Speaker 1: of the ball lake. Those all show me that he
- 34:25Speaker 1: is okay making those things that the height should not
- 34:28Speaker 1: be a concern. Yeah, all right.
- 34:31Speaker 5: We will step away. We've got more OTB coming your way.
- 34:35Speaker 5: We still got our guys, chef Michael Johnson set to
- 34:37Speaker 5: join us to answer all your munchy questions, and our

- 35:38Speaker 5: play women's basketball baseball coming up and you need a
- 35:42Speaker 5: place to stay. There's only one place to stay in
- 35:44Speaker 5: Baton Rouge, and that is Valley's.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Sorry Balle's Ballets Ballets creator role. If you're ready looking
- 35:50Speaker 1: for just a fun night more, maybe looking coming into
- 35:52Speaker 1: town looking to uh look for an incredible place to stay.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Wells Ballets of Batton Ridge. It's not even an upgrade.
- 35:57Speaker 1: It's a brand new facility, twenty five thousand square feet,

- 36:04Speaker 1: Go check them out. That is the spot. Go have
- 36:06Speaker 1: some fun. Betterage, Bally's a betterage.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Welcome back to Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn
- 36:25Speaker 3: live from the twenty twenty six Panini Senior Bowl and
- 36:28Speaker 3: mobile presented it by First American Bank and Trust.
- 36:35Speaker 5: All Right, welcome back in oh tb here live from
- 36:40Speaker 5: the Panini Senior Ball and of course our coverage brought
- 36:42Speaker 5: to you by First American Bank and Trust.
- 36:46Speaker 1: We got hey, we got some gifts here. Let me
- 36:51Speaker 1: turn you up.
- 36:51Speaker 5: Sorry you were talking, You were having a conversation with
- 36:53Speaker 5: the Green Bay Packer guys.
- 36:54Speaker 1: So I was trying to let you do it. So
- 36:56Speaker 1: I was gonna come back. But that goal.
- 36:58Speaker 5: Every year we get a little love, we get a
- 37:00Speaker 5: little sauce here, shout out. But uh, this year we
- 37:04Speaker 5: got a new name tags on our sauce that we
- 37:09Speaker 5: get braught to us from one of our loyal LSU
- 37:11Speaker 5: fans here living in the Mobile area.
- 37:14Speaker 4: Mine says cannon ball head. JH love that.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Huh, Mine says man bun got hers on there. Uh yeah,
- 37:27Speaker 1: cannonball head, I love that. Uh.
- 37:29Speaker 5: For t Bob T number two, Bryce Underwood a bear,
- 37:33Speaker 5: you got an empty diet coke bottle here because you
- 37:37Speaker 5: gave love to Michigan and Bryce Underwood tea.
- 37:40Speaker 1: So that's what you get. No sauce for you, t Bob. Yep,
- 37:42Speaker 1: there's a little bit of die coke left in that
- 37:44Speaker 1: thing too. Yeah, and that's just to throw at him.
- 37:47Speaker 1: That's the backwasher. Uh yeah.
- 37:50Speaker 5: So hey, I did make a comment about never cheering
- 37:53Speaker 5: for the defense. If my guy Blake Baker is listening, Blake,
- 37:56Speaker 5: always cheer for your defense, obviously.
- 37:59Speaker 4: Just not anybody else's defense.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Yeah, go go Tigers. Yeah, but I mean outside of
- 38:05Speaker 1: LSU defense. Yeah, defense is all the worst. Yeah, I
- 38:11Speaker 1: tell my got Bobby Carpenter all the time, like people
- 38:13Speaker 1: that weren't smart enough to play on offense. Which guy
- 38:16Speaker 1: go go coach? No, go ahead? This gap or that gap? Yeah,
- 38:20Speaker 1: Seaball hit ball, which kind of brings out the question,
- 38:23Speaker 1: how did Scott a big get on offense? That's a
- 38:27Speaker 1: great question. That's a great question.
- 38:29Speaker 5: He feels like a mic linebacker, yep, an old school
- 38:33Speaker 5: like Sam linebacker who would just like playing in an
- 38:36Speaker 5: under defense and just tilt and just wait for somebody
- 38:39Speaker 5: to come hit him.
- 38:41Speaker 1: Yep. He's a guy on the swat teams. That's that's
- 38:46Speaker 1: the doorbuster. He's a juggernaut from X men Cam. Wait
- 38:49Speaker 1: till we get the I don't know what it's called
- 38:52Speaker 1: the battering ram. Now I got it. Put my bike
- 38:55Speaker 1: coming on. Oh man, anyway, can't wait to try the sauce?
- 39:03Speaker 4: Are you talking to from the packers?
- 39:05Speaker 1: Got from you were there? Scout?
- 39:07Speaker 5: Yeah, I had a chance to see the scout that
- 39:09Speaker 5: actually was like fought for me, probably the hardest for
- 39:13Speaker 5: the charges and draft me still doing it.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 39:16Speaker 5: It's like, man, y'all, like I know, like it's a profession.
- 39:18Speaker 5: So yeah, but it's like you're a lifer.
- 39:21Speaker 1: All the all the scouts that were in Green Bay
- 39:24Speaker 1: that were I told you there was, there's everybody that
- 39:27Speaker 1: gets drafted, they got guys that fight for them. All
- 39:30Speaker 1: the guys that drafted me ended up being gms different places. Snyder,
- 39:34Speaker 1: John Snyder in a longtime GM with the Seahawks, is
- 39:37Speaker 1: one of the regiment Neils with the Raiders, John Eric
- 39:40Speaker 1: who is now the GM with the Packers. I saw
- 39:43Speaker 1: Elliott Wolf who's with the Patriots the other day, a
- 39:47Speaker 1: guy that that was fought for me in the seventh round.
- 39:51Speaker 1: I'm for whatever reason, I'm blanket is name or not.
- 39:53Speaker 1: He was a gym for the Chiefs for a long time. Man.
- 39:55Speaker 1: You can't even think of the guy that fall for me.
- 39:56Speaker 1: It was the Browns. I remember, didn't tell me fought
- 40:01Speaker 1: for me. The Foxhole guy must have meant a lot
- 40:03Speaker 1: to you. He does absolutely speaking.
- 40:07Speaker 5: You mentioned you said the Browns. There the new head
- 40:10Speaker 5: coach for the Cleveland Browns. Yes, somebody that we know
- 40:13Speaker 5: very well, former LSU receiver coach Todd Munkin.
- 40:17Speaker 4: That was a long time ago. But Neil Monk left
- 40:19Speaker 4: US to.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Go to the NFL.
- 40:20Speaker 3: Thin.
- 40:22Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, So when he was at Georgia, I
- 40:25Speaker 5: had a chance to talk to him a bunch and yeah,
- 40:27Speaker 5: for sure, he recruited me at Oklahoma State. He came
- 40:31Speaker 5: with less to LSU, was there for two years. He
- 40:33Speaker 5: went to the NFL from US. He was always an
- 40:35Speaker 5: NFL guy. He's tried to come back to college. He
- 40:38Speaker 5: was a head coach at Southern Miss and tried a
- 40:41Speaker 5: couple of different times. He came back to Georgia and
- 40:43Speaker 5: had success. He was a coordinator during all his championship runs,
- 40:46Speaker 5: but he always finds his way back to the National
- 40:48Speaker 5: Football League. He was the Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator. But
- 40:52Speaker 5: now he is the head coach of the Cleveland Browns.
- 40:55Speaker 1: So, man, I got a lot of love for my guy, Monk.
- 40:59Speaker 5: That is the hardest job, maybe in all of sports,
- 41:02Speaker 5: is the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. I'm wishing
- 41:04Speaker 5: him nothing but the best. But it is an uphill battle,
- 41:08Speaker 5: to say, an uphill battle in like five inches of
- 41:12Speaker 5: snow that has a five inch layer of ice underneath that.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Yeah, they call it hard rock mining. There. Being the
- 41:18Speaker 1: head coach for the Browns and a lot of the
- 41:20Speaker 1: positions that are to be filled. I think there's only
- 41:24Speaker 1: two availabilities left in the NFL, the head coaching job
- 41:27Speaker 1: that is the Cardinals and the Raiders, and two positions
- 41:31Speaker 1: that you no, you're probably taking that job if it's
- 41:36Speaker 1: always been your dream to be an NFL head coach,
- 41:38Speaker 1: and you'll take anything, but my god, the divisions that
- 41:42Speaker 1: each one of those teams is going to jump into.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Can you imagine if you're the Cardinals and jumping in
- 41:47Speaker 1: a division with the Seahawks and the Rams, and the Niners,
- 41:51Speaker 1: and the Raiders jumping in with the Broncos and the
- 41:54Speaker 1: Chiefs aren't going to be down for long. Chargers. Those
- 41:56Speaker 1: basically three playoff teams basically three playoff teams on each
- 42:00Speaker 1: of in those divisions. So probably the last two most desirable.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Of course, the Raiders probably a little bit more because
- 42:05Speaker 1: they do have the first overall pick. I know they're
- 42:09Speaker 1: completing some second interviews with guys right now, but those
- 42:12Speaker 1: are the two jobs left side munkin to the Browns,
- 42:15Speaker 1: which is actually, if you're looking at it, the divisionally,
- 42:18Speaker 1: probably yeah, not too terrible. You don't have any Juggernauts
- 42:22Speaker 1: as of right.
- 42:22Speaker 4: Now Ravens starting over at head coach.
- 42:24Speaker 5: The Bengals should have started over at head coach, the
- 42:28Speaker 5: Steelers starting over at head coach.
- 42:30Speaker 1: So yeah, to your point, and speaking of I know
- 42:32Speaker 1: we're about to go to break, but that press conference
- 42:35Speaker 1: with Mike McCarthy with the Steelers was awesome.
- 42:37Speaker 4: Yeah, let's uh, we can hit on that.
- 42:39Speaker 5: We can hit on that because obviously you'll be able
- 42:41Speaker 5: to give great insight on him and what Pittsburgh means
- 42:45Speaker 5: to him and why he got emotional as he did
- 42:49Speaker 5: in that press conference and when he was announced the
- 42:51Speaker 5: head coach for the Steelers. We'll take a break. More
- 42:54Speaker 5: OTV here live from the Panini Senior Bowl.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Off the bench, All.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Right, listen.
- 43:01Speaker 5: Whether it's a big Saturday slate, a Saints Sunday, or
- 43:04Speaker 5: you're just posted up watching ball all night long, there's
- 43:08Speaker 5: one beer that plays every snap, and of course that
- 43:10Speaker 5: is Dough Sekis. Chris smooth, easy to drink. Do Seqis
- 43:14Speaker 5: doesn't wear you down by halftime. It stays light, refreshing
- 43:18Speaker 5: and ready for the fourth quarter from kickoff to the
- 43:20Speaker 5: final whistle. Grilling outside or watching with the crew, Do
- 43:23Speaker 5: Sekis is always the right call. So next time you're
- 43:26Speaker 5: loading the cooler, don't overthink it, grab a do sequis
- 43:29Speaker 5: because the most interesting sports day deserves the most interesting beer.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Oh well you also, how about the most interesting man
- 43:37Speaker 1: in the world. I think he's back, right, Did I
- 43:39Speaker 1: see that reason? I don't know.
- 43:40Speaker 4: I've always said that was Charlie Whitehurst.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Well no, it's the dough Sekis guy. Say so, firsty,
- 43:45Speaker 1: my friends, you know what Louisiana, South Louisiana. Okay, let's
- 43:50Speaker 1: light ourselves. We'd like to drink some beer. Well, you
- 43:52Speaker 1: have a little adult beverage. And if you're gonna do it,
- 43:54Speaker 1: make sure you do it responsibly. But if you're gonna
- 43:56Speaker 1: do it, do it with the best. And that is
- 43:57Speaker 1: those seconds that delicious ice cold Mexican lagger, the Ambers
- 44:02Speaker 1: Pesci out laggers Pesci. How they got all the different options.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Make sure you go to the store, stock up, stalk
- 44:07Speaker 1: the fridge, stalk the cooler, whatever it is. If you're
- 44:09Speaker 1: hosting somebody this week, this weekend, whatever it is, drinko secies.

- 45:56Speaker 7: We got the big super Bowl and not a big deal.
- 46:00Speaker 7: It is a big deal. Actually, that's about saying it's
- 46:02Speaker 7: a huge deal. I hope hook wasn't listening to that.
- 46:03Speaker 7: My gosh, it feels a little bit lighter. It's my
- 46:06Speaker 7: high box.
- 46:07Speaker 1: Well, you know, it goes quick when it's perfect hydration.
- 46:10Speaker 4: Because Christopher Paul Dorring took about five of them.
- 46:13Speaker 1: That's son of a gun.
- 46:15Speaker 4: If anybody needs to be hydrated, it's Krystal.
- 46:18Speaker 5: Uh No, okay, but I did get onto him.
- 46:22Speaker 1: He said PDA light in an interview. Yes, say that.
- 46:26Speaker 1: We don't say the P word. Well, stuff tastes terrible.
- 46:29Speaker 5: Exactly, dot Com our three coming your way off the bench.
- 46:37Speaker 5: All right, listen. I know the weather's a little bit cold,
- 46:39Speaker 5: and I know maybe it doesn't feel like it, but
- 46:41Speaker 5: it is baseball softball season.
- 46:43Speaker 1: We are in the swing of things.
- 46:45Speaker 5: Okay, So you if you need a new bat, if
- 46:48Speaker 5: you need a new glove, a helmet, a belt, a cleat, whatever,
- 46:53Speaker 5: maybe two cleats.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Maybe we need to make that plural.
- 46:55Speaker 5: You go to see our friends over at Marucci sports
- 46:58Speaker 5: dot com and if you're in Louisiana, they've got multiple
