- 3:01named Jean White rushes up the reckety stairs of an ancient office building in the
- 3:06older part of Pound. She push us open the door marked Wallace White Contractor
- 3:09and enters Wally, Wally, I'm here, come in to take a look
- 3:15at this, take a look at what. My gosh, when you for
- 3:19me to rush over, it sounds if you'd finally got a contract. I
- 3:22have, Geene, I have. I'm sure of it. Oh, Wally,
- 3:23after all these months, I can't believe it. Oh say, you
- 3:27didn't think Wallace White five at first Class could turn into Wallace White Contractor.
- 3:30Eh, well, here's my first job, says Oh, that's great,
- 3:35because Marbola's company's building a ten story garage down on the northwest corner of Ninth
- 3:38Avenue in Ninth Street. Here here's the architect set of blueprints. But how
- 3:42did you get them? Well, they asked me to submit a bid,
- 3:45so I sent for them, and I submitted a bit that it's got to
- 3:47be the lowest I can't lose. Oh, Wally, that's wonderful. Hey
- 3:52wait a minute, since when are they tearing down the movie house? What
- 3:55movie house? What on the northwest corner of Ninth aven You and Ninth You're
- 4:00crazy. There is a movie house there. That's an empty lot. Oh
- 4:03no, it isn't. Remember I lived in Greenwich Village when I first came
- 4:06to town, when I roomed with Patsy Bowen, a girl who works for
- 4:10Nick Corner. Yeah, that's right, And there's a movie house right where
- 4:13this garage is supposed to go up. I know that. No, wait
- 4:15a minute, I know the village too. It's a vacant lot. It
- 4:18is not. The vacant lot is at tenth Street. The movie house is
- 4:23at tenth Street. All right, wise guy, come on down to the
- 4:26village and i'll prove your raw. Well, this is ninth Avenue and tenth
- 4:40Street, and there's the movie house on the corner. Just as I said.
- 4:43Golly, I could have sworn. Wait a minute, Bally, we're
- 4:46both right. There's the vacant lot across the street, also at ninth Avenue
- 4:51and tenth Golly, the village is so twisted and mixed up. You can't
- 4:55never remember anything about me. What's the matter. There's something fish fishy?
- 5:00Yeah, there isn't any intersection of ninth Avenue and ninth Street. What We'll
- 5:05take a look for yourself. The avenue runs into the village square and ends.
- 5:11Ninth Street is below the square. It doesn't even come close to the
- 5:13avenue with the blueprint set. Yeah, it says that a garage is going
- 5:17to be built on imaginary land, but there just isn't any such street corner.
- 5:21I don't understand, Wally. Is this some kind of a gag or
- 5:26something. Well, if it is, I don't like it. I paid
- 5:29a fifty dollars deposit to the Cosmopolis company on these blueprints. Do you think
- 5:32something is crooked, Wally? It sure looks that way. But Wally ejeen,
- 5:36do you think Patsy Bowen could get us into scennic Cotter even if it's
- 5:40a case involving only fifty dollars? Gee, I don't know. We could
- 5:44try, Okay, then let's try. We gotta get help from somebody in
- 5:57the first place. Mister Whitt, there's no such thing as a case.
- 6:00He's too small for me to investigate. Understand that. But I can't pay
- 6:02mister Cotton. You see, Wally hasn't earned much money since he's been out
- 6:05of the army. He's trying to get started in the contracting business. It's
- 6:09white. I don't charge folks. I want to help if they can't afford
- 6:12to pay. Oh, mister Carter, you're your excuse me, but I've
- 6:16got to do this. Hey, what's the idea kissing my balls? Fair?
- 6:24I'm as White. I just had to show you my gratitude. Well
- 6:28we'll enter that on a new file card mark Wallace fee one kiss paid in
- 6:31advance, and that's a fee it'll be a pleasure to earn. That is
- 6:35what I call an ambiguous crack. All right, then suppose we skip it,
- 6:40you know, White, because Mapulist companies and the record I think it
- 6:43is, it'll be a pleasure to smash it. What record do you think
- 6:46that is, mister Connor? I figure they've sent out blueprints to contractors all
- 6:49over this part of the country, and those blueprints are for buildings no one
- 6:53ever intends to build. But I paid a fifty dollars deposit for those times.
- 6:57The crooks that you paid your money to have no intention of return.
- 7:00Oh I I don't care what you do with the blueprints cost them only a
- 7:03few cents. You moti by fifty dollars by a couple of one hundred gullible
- 7:08contractors, and you have quite a racket, a racket which is repeated in
- 7:11city after city. Well, Nick, what are you going to do about
- 7:14it. First thing, Patsy is they were going down to the mailing address
- 7:16or the because Maopolis company they're legitimate, Okay they're not. Yes, then
- 7:23I'm going to earn that kiss. Good afternoon. I'm Doris Foster. I'm
- 7:40Nick Carter. This is my secretary of Patsy Boonen, Nick Carter, the
- 7:43detective. That's right. Tell me, miss Foster, what's your connection with
- 7:46the Cosmopolis Company? Well? None, really, Miss Harris. My boss
- 7:49friends help this office as a mailing address. She has several clients, and
- 7:51the Cosmopoulus Company is one of them. Why is there any mail for them?
- 7:56Now? Yes, yes there is. Let me see it, please,
- 8:00mister Carter. I can't. I'm not going to open the mail.
- 8:01I just want to look at it. May I see it? Please?
- 8:05But why? Because there's a chance that the Cosmopolis Company may be running a
- 8:09racket. I want to check. You mean they're doing something crooked? That's
- 8:13the addie. Oh my gosh, this is awful. I mean, here's
- 8:16the meal. Thanks, I'll turn out that light for your passy like this.
- 8:22Yes, that's fine. Thanks. Eleven letters here the strong light behind
- 8:33them. It looks as though each one contains a check or money order.
- 8:37I guess that's all the proof we need, Passy. How is that proof
- 8:39need? Wally White isn't the only contractor in the world, true enough,
- 8:43but a legitimate firm wouldn't be requesting construction bids from so many different contractors.
- 8:46This is a racket, all right. Oh, and you're right in the
- 8:50middle of Miss Foster. Now listen, mister Carter. I've only worked here
- 8:52for a few weeks. I don't billing up the mail for Chrismopolis a man
- 8:56named Nixon. You know anything about this Nixon is how to get in touch
- 9:01with him? No, but he usually comes in every afternoon, my time,
- 9:05anytime. All right. We won't trouble you anymore, Miss Foster,
- 9:07but we'll certainly trouble that mister Nixon when he comes in. Oh uh,
- 9:11Miss Foster. When Nixon comes in, give him this mail. I be
- 9:15careful not to say anything about me. I understand. Oh yes, mister
- 9:18Carter, all right, come on, Passy. Looks as if I'm not
- 9:22going to earn that kiss after all, Geene White will have to give it
- 9:26to Uncle Sam. Step around the corner of the hall, Passy, what
- 9:39was that crack? About Uncle Sam. This is a federal case, illegal
- 9:43use of the mail. You got to notify the FBI. This isn't for
- 9:46us. Oh, but I'm not taking any chances on this, Nixon.
- 9:48In the meantime, why over here, why I want to look at this
- 9:52broom closet? But what for till in a minute? Oh no, No,
- 10:00what's all the mystery? See that later up there. Yes, there's
- 10:03also a bettle letter in the office where miss Foster is. I didn't notice
- 10:05it. Well I did, and we should be able to hear anything that's
- 10:09said in there from right here. But I can't hear anything. Lucully ms.
- 10:13Foster's in there, lawns, he's not talking to anybody. What do
- 10:16you intend to do? Just stand here until somebody comes in and starts to
- 10:18talk. No, I'm leaving you here. Then I'm sending Scubby over with
- 10:22a portable wire recorder. You too, should be able to get that grill
- 10:24off and hold the microphone right up against the grill on the other wall.
- 10:26Gee, it's pretty high up mee. Scubby will give you a boost.
- 10:30Sure, I want you to try to record everything that's said in that office.
- 10:33We'll do our darness. Nick but what's the idea That foster girl looked
- 10:37flustered. She was. I'm sure she won't be able to keep her mouth
- 10:39shut when she sees Nixon. She may be provoked in as saying something valuable.
- 10:43And when Nixon leaves, Scubby tails in her. Yeah, you're a
- 10:46smart girl, Patsy. When Scubby leaves, you report back to the office.
- 10:48We'll turn over everything we got on this case to the government. Man.
- 10:52What's the joke? Well, I just can't wait to see you turn
- 10:56over to an FBI man that kiss Jean gave you. Oh Dos, how's
- 11:13the office going? Oh gosh, Miss Harris, I'm awful glad you came
- 11:16in. Something terrible's just happened. What's the matter, Doris? So,
- 11:18I'm afraid we're mixed up in some kind of racket, Miss Harris. Nick
- 11:20Carter was just here, Nick Carter, what did he want? He was
- 11:24doing some investigating for a man named Wally White. Mister Carter said those Becausemopolis
- 11:28people are some kind of crooks. And I think mister Carter's going to wait
- 11:31until mister Nixon calls for his mail and then do something to it. I'll
- 11:35take it easy, doors if that Nixon is a crook. I'll get rid
- 11:37of him fasting. Oh gosh, Miss Harris's got me so upset, I
- 11:41Doris, why don't you take the rest of the day off. I'll take
- 11:43care of things here at the office. Honestly, I'm so shaky I couldn't
- 11:48type anymore today. Don't worry. I'll finish up for you. Gosh,
- 11:52you swell. It's a pleasure working for you, even if I have only
- 11:54been here a few weeks. Oh, mister nixond, my boss has something
- 12:01to tell you, mister Nixon. Goodbye. Well that's the matter with her.
- 12:09Your mail is on the desk, mister Nixon. Why, oh yeah,
- 12:16thanks, I'll trouble you to take your mail out of here and take
- 12:22yourself too. What are you talking about? Never mind what I'm talking about.
- 12:30Just understand that I'm severing relations with your company as of today. I
- 12:35don't want anything more to do with you, mister Nixon or the Cosmopolis Company.
- 12:43Okay, okay. I don't know why you're sore at me all of
- 12:48a sudden, but it's okay with me. You ain't the only public steno
- 12:52in this city, quite right, mister Nixon. Goodbye? Nick Nick,
- 13:11you're back yet got back to the office a few minutes ago. They're talking
- 13:15with a Justice department Do they know about Nixon? They're hot on his trail
- 13:18and then after him for over a year. Oh and tell me he always
- 13:22operates with the same girl. They're an old team. Doris Foster, the
- 13:26girl in the office. Yes, what makes you so sure? Did she
- 13:28tell Nixon anything? Listening? Doris Foster pretend to be upset by your visit.
- 13:33She went home for the day and left the office to a boss,
- 13:35a woman named fran Harris. Then Nixon came in for his mail, and
- 13:39fran Harris didn't say a thing to him, just told him to get out.
- 13:41That's so, I'll bet Doris Foster pull that act just to get a
- 13:45chance to warn him. Maybe it's gotty tail Nixon. When he left,
- 13:48he went right out after him. Maybe I wasn't thankful for that. Well,
- 13:52can't you imagine me cooped up in a dark closet with a scubby He
- 13:56kept asking me to marry him every two minutes. He didn't say yes,
- 13:58did you? Of course not? Well what about this Brian Harris? But
- 14:03she kept her mouth shutting. It just gave Nixon. The frieze told him
- 14:07to take his mail and never come back. She did. Uh huh.
- 14:11I've got the recording here, but he won't do any good. Nixon didn't
- 14:13say anything incriminated. Discoveries are only lead. I hope he can hold on
- 14:18to Nixon. Oh, he'll report back as soon as he gets the chance.
- 14:22Nick Carter speaking, mister Carter, this is Gean White. Yes,
- 14:26Jee, you've got to come up to my brother's office right away. What's
- 14:28the matter. He's been shot. I think he's dead murdered. Nick and
- 14:41Patsy leave the office of a run, jump into Nick's convertible, and drive
- 14:43swiftly toward Wallace White's office. We'll see what happens next in just a moment.

- 15:39the same familiar package. Now back to the case of the Missing Street.
- 15:48Today's adventure with Nick Carter brought to you by a new postwar old Dutch cleanser.
- 15:54In Wallace White's office, Nick examines the body on the floor while Jane
- 15:58pours out her story. We were just sitting here, mister Cutt, talking
- 16:03about the missing Street, wondering whether you get easy, Jean. All of
- 16:11a sudden there was a shot through the glass stand in the door. Wally
- 16:15just swapped out of his chair. I called you right away. It's a
- 16:19good thing you did, Jean. Wally's badly hurt, but he isn't dead.
- 16:22Who thank you. Bullet through the lung, missus Hart live fraction of
- 16:26an inch I think Patsy get on the phone and get an ambulance here past
- 16:29right, nay I, I can't understand that, mister cut Neither can Eye
- 16:33Jean, mister tempted murder doesn't make sense. True enough, Wally made the
- 16:38move that uncovered Nixon's blueprint racket. It's true that Nixon can get about seven
- 16:41years in the federal penitentiary he's caught, but that doesn't addup to murder.
- 16:45It just doesn't make sense. Oh, good, places happened to Scubby?
- 16:51He was on Nixon's tail? How did he let him shoot Wally? Well,
- 16:52maybe he just waded downstairs when Nixon came up here. He couldn't be
- 16:56that stupid. He explained to you about the case, didn't you, of
- 16:59course, Nick, And he knew that this was Wally's address. Of course
- 17:03he'd follow Nixon up the stairs to see what he was after. That's right.
- 17:07We'll hold on here until the ambudence takes over, and we'll hustle back
- 17:12to the office and see whether we can find Scubby. I want to hear
- 17:15what he's got to say. Oh wait a minute, Nick, you said
- 17:17this was a federal case. It isn't our business. A mail fraud part
- 17:21isn't and we'll bow out on that. An attempted murder. It was something
- 17:23else, Patsy, that's all. It was my business, Scubby, Hire
- 17:37folks, Scubby, what the deuce are you doing here in the office?
- 17:38Where's Nixon? Gee? Nick, I'm sorry he got away from me,
- 17:42got away from you. Yeah, I lost him and let him go up
- 17:45to Wally White's office and pump a bullet into him. What, Scubby?
- 17:48I hate you. Don't you ever propose to me again? How easy?
- 17:52Passy? What happened? Scubby? Well? I tell Nixon out of the
- 17:55building. I swear he never saw me. Then he got into a cab,
- 17:56and I followed the cab all the way up to the city line.
- 18:00When we got there, Nixon wasn't in it. Old Dodge went in one
- 18:03door of the cabin, ran on out the other. Muster Seenhcuby. Oh
- 18:07how could he? I wasn't tailing him for more than a minute. Maybe
- 18:10he's smarter than we think. Oh well, ge Nick, all right,
- 18:11all right, we've lost our lead with Nixon. Let's find another. Patsy.
- 18:15Let me hear that wire recording. Well, there isn't anything on it
- 18:18all right, that's you heard anyway. Okay, here goes Oh, mister
- 18:26Nixon. My boss had something to tell you, mister Nixon. Good bye.
- 18:33Oh what's the matter with her? Your rado was on the desk?
- 18:42Oh? Yeah, thanks, I'll trouble to take the mail out of here
- 18:48to take yourself. What are you talking about? Just understand that I have
- 19:00several relations with your company as it did anything you want to all the cosmos?
- 19:10Okay, okay. I don't know why you're sword Nie all of a
- 19:15sudden, but it's okay with me. You ain't the only public studle in
- 19:19the city, quite right. Good Bye? Well how about that? See
- 19:26you're wrong, Nick, We didn't learn a thing? I repeat, how
- 19:30about that? Well did we? What time is it, Bessie? That's
- 19:36time enough to go down and have another interview with fran Harris. That girl
- 19:38didn't talk, but maybe she can help us find Nixon another way. I
- 19:52hope we're in time, Nick, I think we are. What now,
- 19:55Nick, it's gotta you're going upstairs. Wait in the cord or outside fran
- 19:59Harris's office. She leaves the office. Stay with her. Check. We'll
- 20:00wait here and pick you up when you come out. I'll get going,
- 20:03you bet, and this time I don't get food. I see has going
- 20:06that drugs are there? We need a phone, a phone, right,
- 20:08I'm going to interview miss Harris on the telephone, and when I finished,
- 20:11wild horses won't be able to keep her in that office. One minute longer,
- 20:23one cheese. I come on on, they be pretty crool. I
- 20:27don't mind. Okay, come on all right, Nick? What are you
- 20:37going to say to friend Harris when you get her on the phone. First
- 20:38of all, I'm going to try to sound like Nixon. But what are
- 20:41you going to say anything that comes into my head? Just as long as
- 20:44it doesn't make sense to me. Muffle the phone with your handkerchief so I
- 20:48can have my other hand freeze. Sure, but I don't get it quiet.
- 20:52I'll have her in a second. Okay, Hello, Oh hello,
- 21:02miss Harris? Yes, who's this? This is a credison find a set
- 21:06of company calling the time of day? Just the curbas of ectans. What's
- 21:10that? Hey? Why a double poet required? Betsy? I don't think
- 21:12you do to you, Miss Harris? Oh, please understand the way it
- 21:15means released. I want to say it again the twice time. When he
- 21:18went inside of the office. He did, he didn't get that, and
- 21:21he did. I'm afraid I don't understand. I wouldn't have the type that
- 21:25Ju's per make ridiculous. Isn't the time I went in there should at least
- 21:27because listening is understanding, which is a sensible way, isn't it? You
- 21:30have the wrong number? Goodbye? She hung up me. What were you
- 21:36tapping your ring against the phone for all the time you were talking? I
- 21:38was part of the interview. Come on, Brian, Harris will be shooting
- 21:41out of her offers any minute, and we've got to be in the car
- 21:42ready to follow her. She's turning down four Street. Dick right, we'll
- 21:56stay with her. I wish I knew what you said to her on the
- 21:59phone. She can't scooter out of her office. I gave her some double
- 22:00talk double talk with Nixon's voice or a reasonable facsimilate, and Wally took.
- 22:06Nick also tapped on the phone with his ring. Oh, I wish I
- 22:07could figure out your tricks, Nick, Yeah, good. Crook's good too.
- 22:11That wouldn't be so good. Brand just ducked into that loft building.
- 22:15Are we going in after it? We are? We're gonna move fast or
- 22:18we'll lose her. I can hear, Nick, she's still running up the
- 22:33stairs ahead of us, probably headed for the top floor. And what she
- 22:34got to do with Nixon and Doris Foster. You'll find out she saw because
- 22:37they were using her office for their raging. Let's keep extra quiet, please
- 22:41step for coming up. Do you think Nixon's inside that lot? I hope
- 22:45so. But what do we do? A simple thing? Just knock on
- 22:47the door and go in. Afterward, inside we'll take him. Well,
- 22:49suppose he puts up the fight. Don't forget what he did to Wally White.
- 22:52I'm not forgetting Wally White. But Nick, you can't write it right
- 22:55now? Stop here, Nexon, Open up, Open up, Nexon.
- 23:06I want to talk to you. Quick, click down. I was Wrong's
- 23:11it going to be a fight and maybe another murder? Nick, Patsy and
- 23:22Scubby crouched on the floor. A shot splinter the plant door. We'll see
- 23:26what happens in just a moment. Friends, we won't be with you again
- 23:30until next week, so we take this opportunity to wish you the very best
- 23:34of everything for the new year. Nineteen forty seven has seen America assume a
- 23:38role of world leadership. The poor and oppressed peoples in many lands look to
- 23:42us in the years ahead for strength and guidance. So let us set the
- 23:47example by welcoming the coming year with faith and optimism, confident that we can

- 24:11of the case of the Missing Street, brought to you by a new postwar
- 24:15old Dutch Cleander. Outside the door of the Blueprint plant, Nick, Patsy
- 24:21and Scubby hug the floor as bullets smashed through the door over their heads.
- 24:26We don't do something, Nick, that's friend Harris. I'm coming in,
- 24:36Miss Harris. You can't do it. Are you crazy? He'll drop you
- 24:40as soon as you go through that door. Here I come, Nixon,
- 24:47all right, you can come into Patsy. Nixon's dead. Dead. Nixon's
- 24:51dead with a bullet through his heart. As Pryan over against the wall.
- 24:55You got here just in time, mister Carter. Nixon was going to kill
- 24:57me. It's no use, Miss Harris. You made a good try,
- 25:00but it didn't work. I could try. How could Nixon be dead with
- 25:03a bullet through his heart when I never fired a shot. We're hoping I
- 25:07would shoot, won't you? Oh he he killed himself when you said you
- 25:11were coming in. Oh no he didn't. Fran You put a bullet into
- 25:14him and stage the whole act. Too bad? I followed up the lead
- 25:17so quickly, isn't it You were hoping he'd be framed for the murder of
- 25:18Wally White? You mean she she shot Wally? I told you that murder
- 25:22didn't make sense, Patsy, but he did as soon as I discovered friend
- 25:26was in the racket with Nixon, was using Doris as a front. That's
- 25:27not true, and Doris was illocently she was gubby. When we started investigating
- 25:33the fraud pulled on Wally White, she got scared and reported it to fran
- 25:36Harris, and Franz suddenly got a bright idea. What do you mean?
- 25:38You figured that if you killed Wally with Nixon's gun, you could blame the
- 25:41killing on Nixon and a ballistics test would show that it was Nixon's gun and
- 25:45he'd be executed for murder, then you could take over the racket. You're
- 25:51a liar, Fran. Whether or not we can prove that you killed Wally
- 25:53makes no difference, because we can prove you killed Nixon just now you cannot.
- 25:57Oh yes we can. You see, friend, there's no gun with
- 26:00then Nixon's reach as he lies there dead, and there are also no powder
- 26:04marks on him to indicate suicide. Therefore the only person who could have killed
- 26:08him is you. Well, you'll never prove anything. Don't bother to argue,
- 26:11Frand a criminal court will settle it for you, and settle it good
- 26:15with the evidence I have. From now on, a prison cell is going
- 26:19to be your mailing address. Nick. There are a couple of points about
- 26:30what Betsy. Well, you say Fran, Harris and Nixon worked this racket
- 26:34together. That's right. Then you mean that whenever Nixon started this racket in
- 26:40a new city, Fran went on ahead and rented an office so we could
- 26:42have a mailing address. Sure. She also hired a girl to work for
- 26:45hers, a snographer. A girl, of course, knew nothing about the
- 26:48rackets. She just knew that she worked for friends. Uh huh, yeah,
- 26:52But how did you figure out the tie up between fran and Nixon.
- 26:56The minute I heard that wire recording, I knew that they were working together.
- 27:00But she didn't say anything, Nick, She didn't, but her typewriter
- 27:03said plenty. Her typewriter mm mmm. She was typing in code all the
- 27:07time. She was talking in cold That's right, what she and Nixon had
- 27:12it worked out for emergencies. She was afraid someone might be listening outside,
- 27:17so she tapped on a message and her typewriter in international code. Nick Carter
- 27:21snooping around, played dumb and go back to the plant. So that's how
- 27:25Nixon knew Scubby was tailing here, correct, And that's how you got it
- 27:27to lead us to the plant. While you were talking double talk to her,
- 27:30you were also tapping a message to her with your ring right again.
- 27:34Huh? All I said was Nixon calling emergency, come to plant immediately.
- 27:40And when she heard us outside the loft door, she realized she'd been followed
- 27:42exactly, and she tried her last desperate trick. She killed Nixon and then
- 27:48fired a few more shots and pretended she was an innocent victim about to be
- 27:51murdered. Yeah, but you didn't fall for it, which finished the case.
- 27:55No not quite. We've got to go round to the hospital and see
- 27:56Wally White. Ah got a present the Jean. Oh, I've got a
- 28:00reward for Wally. Huh. A Justice department was offering one thousand dollars for
- 28:04information leading to the rest of Nixon, and I'm seeing to it that Wally
- 28:08collects. Oh, that's swell. He lost money on a missing street,
- 28:12but now he's going to collect on a missing crook. Nick, how about
- 28:26a hinter two on what new post war old Utch clencher hasn't start for us
- 28:30next week? Well, Bob, the only thing I can tell you is
- 28:32something I'm afraid you won't believe it. Well if you see it, well
- 28:34I'll believe it. Go on and tell me. Okay. Then it's the
- 28:37story of a man who was shot and killed by a stained glass window,
- 28:41killed by a Now, Nick, wait a minute, Oh well, Bob,
- 28:45you can't say Nick didn't warn you. But that sounds absolutely crazy.

- 29:56by Alfred Bester. Original music is played by Henry Silvern. This program is
- 30:02fictional and any resemblance to actual persons living or dead is purely coincidental. This
- 30:07is Bob Martin saying, when minutes count, use you post war old Dutch
- 30:12cleanser. This is the mutual broadcasting systems welcome back. Well. We continue
- 30:49to see Nick Carter playing racketbuster, and this one is an interesting enough one,
- 30:56realistic way that this sort of it would work, the way the capture
- 31:03happened, kind of stretch things. I do think Patsy is moving in any
- 31:11direction. I don't necessarily feel is a is a direction. And the listeners
- 31:18have caught on too with her being jealous of a simple kiss given to Nick,
- 31:26and then you also have her constant refusals of Scubby. But I'm thinking
- 31:33that might have to do with Scubby perhaps needing to take a hint, because
- 31:42yeah, it sounds like a tedious thing to have him around. Will you
- 31:47marry me? No? Will you marry me? No? Let's go ahead
- 31:49and turn, turn, take a turn? Will you marry me no?
- 31:53Yeah? No. I'm glad that they only have time to sew so much
- 31:59on the program. I mentioned this previously over on a Man from Homicide,
- 32:05but I will mention it here in this week's episode, we are going to
- 32:14fairly shortly be playing the Ellery Queen. Mysteries and Ellery Queen has always had
- 32:21a sort of solve it yourself idea behind it. This was represented in the
- 32:30radio program where a panel of armchair attractives would speak their minds as to what
- 32:42they thought the solution was. In the nineteen seventies TV series I've been watching
- 32:45My Way through Ellery would challenge the audience, ask them if they knew who
- 32:52had done the crime. And that's great on those shows where the mystery panel
- 32:58exists, but there are a few where it doesn't, and I had the
- 33:01idea that we could recreate that with listeners serving as the panelists. They would
- 33:07receive the portion of the episode right up until ELLERI Queen gets ready to reveal
- 33:15the solution, and then they would be interviewed, get an idea with their
- 33:19occupation, just a few little general pieces of information about them, and then
- 33:24they would offer their solution. I'd be interested in hearing from the audience.
- 33:29If you're interested in doing that, certainly email me and what do you think
- 33:34about the idea of recreating and readding that sort of scene into those Ellery Queen
- 33:42mysteries where that element is missing. I'd love to hear from you. Email
