- 1:07Speaker 2: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:11Speaker 3: And they get Albert Breer and he's still calling around
- 1:14Speaker 3: the league asking now people to evaluate Alex van Pel.
- 1:17Speaker 3: It's like, get off of it. We don't need outside
- 1:19Speaker 3: people evaluating Alice Van Pel. We can do that right here.
- 1:23Speaker 3: That's what's passionate rant Okay.
- 1:25Speaker 4: The things he gets passionate about it.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Sometimes No, it's just it's just just get off of it.
- 1:30Speaker 4: I think that's relevant.
- 1:31Speaker 3: But they don't know anything more than we know. All
- 1:34Speaker 3: they know is what they know.
- 1:34Speaker 4: But they're giving you an unbiased view. No one really
- 1:37Speaker 4: cares what Paul Perillo thinks of how they I know.
- 1:40Speaker 3: But that's my point is that's all they can tell them.
- 1:42Speaker 3: They can't give him any insight what offensive QUI or
- 1:45Speaker 3: he doesn't want to keep their quarterback out of third
- 1:47Speaker 3: and long situations. Oh, we love it here in Seattle.
- 1:50Speaker 4: It's ridiculous, like you're being an andy like now.
- 1:54Speaker 3: But that's what they said. Alex looks on, probably in
- 1:57Speaker 3: complete bewilderment of them arguing, arguing in agreement.
- 2:01Speaker 5: I feel like when mom and dad are fighting and
- 2:02Speaker 5: they're like wanting you to.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Pick a side.
- 2:05Speaker 6: You were stuck in one of.
- 2:05Speaker 7: Those like when two dogs are fighting each other and
- 2:08Speaker 7: you're like, why jumping them is in the amal too.
- 2:10Speaker 6: It's fun to listen to, but at the same time,
- 2:11Speaker 6: like they're You're like, are they arguing the same thing?
- 2:13Speaker 6: I'm like, I'd get in on this if there was
- 2:15Speaker 6: a side, but I feel like you're both on the
- 2:17Speaker 6: same side.

- 2:26Speaker 3: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here, Joe,
- 2:30Speaker 3: let's stay, but it's really a Wednesday when it comes
- 2:34Speaker 3: to the football world. But first I have a special
- 2:36Speaker 3: announcement for all Patriots fans. The most nail biting action
- 2:40Speaker 3: film of the season, Carry On, starring Taron Edgerton, Sophia Carson,
- 2:47Speaker 3: and Jason Bateman, touches down on Netflix on December thirteenth,
- 2:51Speaker 3: just in time for the holidays. Only liquid's allowed, Blood,
- 2:55Speaker 3: Sweat and Tears. Catch carry on December thirteenth, only on Netflix.
- 3:00Speaker 3: And if you're coming to the game this Sunday, you
- 3:03Speaker 3: can score an exclusive stadium compliant Game Day carry On
- 3:07Speaker 3: bag and experience the larger than life photo installation. So
- 3:13Speaker 3: special treat for those coming to the Colts game. Wow,
- 3:16Speaker 3: carry On.
- 3:17Speaker 6: We're gonna add movie.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Because because Blood flows Red on the Highway, I.
- 3:22Speaker 6: Think we're gonna add movie trailer voice to Fred's.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Red in a World with Jason Bateman.
- 3:28Speaker 3: And then you have to have the music swell some
- 3:32Speaker 3: popular song anyway, all.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Right, Mike, did you like that the lead in there,
- 3:36Speaker 4: the little little promo?
- 3:38Speaker 3: Do you like the argument?
- 3:39Speaker 4: It was kind of like role reversal. Fred was in
- 3:42Speaker 4: the plan and Raven and you were.
- 3:44Speaker 6: That was kind of calm, Well, you weren't doing the
- 3:46Speaker 6: Fred thing and like kind of egging him on a
- 3:48Speaker 6: little bit you weren't throwing some raw meat at the dog.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Because I didn't need to. He kind of opened with that,
- 3:53Speaker 4: and I was like, and I just looked at Alex,
- 3:54Speaker 4: like the things that he gets passionate about.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Let them just let him go, just let him run,
- 3:58Speaker 3: Just leave Alex van pell alone. Anyway, all right, we're back.
- 4:02Speaker 3: It's Paul, it's Deuce, it's me. Evan'll be here later
- 4:06Speaker 3: talking Patriots. And boy, that was a step back. That
- 4:10Speaker 3: was a step back in Drake's game and the team overall.
- 4:16Speaker 3: But you know, that's the way this season is gonna go.
- 4:18Speaker 3: This was a dip. Hopefully they can respond this week
- 4:21Speaker 3: against the Cults. But it was not a good week
- 4:24Speaker 3: for Patriots Nation.
- 4:25Speaker 6: It wasn't. I mean, I said on the post game show,
- 4:27Speaker 6: it was just harder that first third down you faced
- 4:29Speaker 6: and you get the false start, and I don't know
- 4:31Speaker 6: how you guys were, but in my mind, I'm like,
- 4:33Speaker 6: here we go, like this is what it is. This is,
- 4:35Speaker 6: you know, unable to get out of their own way.
- 4:37Speaker 6: I was in the locker room, by the way, we
- 4:38Speaker 6: don't have to play this on that but but Vinarian
- 4:41Speaker 6: Lowe talked and you know, stood up there and you
- 4:43Speaker 6: said it's unacceptable. And you know, there are certain things
- 4:46Speaker 6: that they try to accomplish there during the snap count
- 4:48Speaker 6: on the road, and you know, I think there were
- 4:50Speaker 6: some challenges with that with them in the silent snap.
- 4:53Speaker 6: So he was accountable today in the locker room, and
- 4:55Speaker 6: I know he was one of the main offenders. It's
- 4:58Speaker 6: got to be better. It's got to I mean, and
- 4:59Speaker 6: it was you know, really it's just on me. It's
- 5:01Speaker 6: my it's focus, you know, I mean it. I think
- 5:04Speaker 6: the reporters do give him a little bit of an
- 5:05Speaker 6: out with the questions they asked of like, you know,
- 5:07Speaker 6: you're on the road, it's loud. You know, you're on
- 5:09Speaker 6: a silent count. Is it hard to you know? Yeah,
- 5:11Speaker 6: you know, I mean he wasn't taking like.
- 5:13Speaker 4: The out and make it easy for him.
- 5:15Speaker 6: Yeah, but he was. But no, he said, you know,
- 5:17Speaker 6: it's it's his fault. But I mean, I just thought
- 5:19Speaker 6: right from the get go, you had that and the
- 5:20Speaker 6: two tackles were just you know, it was allow the line.
- 5:22Speaker 4: To Mike's point, I'm just like looking, I'm not going
- 5:24Speaker 4: to go like through the whole play by play, but
- 5:27Speaker 4: you know, you get the ball to start the game.
- 5:29Speaker 4: You know, Stevenson one yard, May short pass to Henry
- 5:33Speaker 4: for six yards. Okay, so you have a third and three,
- 5:36Speaker 4: very manageable situation, right, false start penalty of Darien Low.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Third and eight, you get try to throw a quick
- 5:43Speaker 4: little screen pass the Jalen Pope doesn't really even come Clay.
- 5:46Speaker 4: He gets six yards but really didn't threaten the first
- 5:48Speaker 4: down seven yards and they punt next time they get
- 5:52Speaker 4: the ball. Is even more glaring because they actually put
- 5:55Speaker 4: together what I thought was their only semblance of a
- 5:57Speaker 4: drive throughout the entire game. You come in and it's
- 6:02Speaker 4: May scrabbles for six yards, Stevenson for nine yards. Okay,
- 6:05Speaker 4: here we go first and ten. Penalty false start Jacobs
- 6:10Speaker 4: first and fifteen and you get four penalty false start
- 6:15Speaker 4: Darian Low five yards. So it's second and sixteen. Then
- 6:19Speaker 4: this is when Gibson comes in and rips off a
- 6:21Speaker 4: fourteen yard run. You know, third and two. You pick
- 6:24Speaker 4: it up first and ten. Now you're starting to move.
- 6:28Speaker 4: You get I'm gonna fast forward a couple of plays.
- 6:30Speaker 4: You get down to the twenty yard line, you get
- 6:32Speaker 4: a holding call, and on the same play, your tight
- 6:35Speaker 4: end line's up in the neutral zone, the rare offensive
- 6:38Speaker 4: off side, you know.
- 6:39Speaker 6: Way in the new zone.
- 6:41Speaker 4: Here's who four. We're only seeing when it cost kidsas
- 6:43Speaker 4: City that game last year against Buffalo, when Kadarius Tony
- 6:46Speaker 4: did that, Remember on the lateral play that the Chiefs
- 6:49Speaker 4: ran last year, Fritz looking at the glassy eyed but
- 6:52Speaker 4: so like, there's four penalties on one drive. You move
- 6:55Speaker 4: from your own thirteen down to Miami's twenty. You had
- 6:59Speaker 4: a good drive going, and not only that, you were
- 7:01Speaker 4: overcoming a lot of these mistakes until you finally made
- 7:04Speaker 4: one too many and ended up in third and sixteen.
- 7:08Speaker 4: They gave the gate the give up call where they
- 7:11Speaker 4: just ran the draw. Then they kick a field goal.
- 7:12Speaker 4: They missed the field goal, and that was it. Game's over. Fourteen. Like,
- 7:16Speaker 4: you just can't play that way. They're not good enough.
- 7:18Speaker 4: No one's good enough to do that, but particularly when
- 7:21Speaker 4: your offense is still struggling.
- 7:23Speaker 3: And because of that, it's another rough week for the
- 7:29Speaker 3: head coach because the haters, the illuminati are, you know,
- 7:35Speaker 3: saying this is all because of a lack of discipline,
- 7:38Speaker 3: because of a lack of coaching, and you know, in
- 7:41Speaker 3: the past, I can't say that we haven't talked about
- 7:45Speaker 3: other teams in the same way that have these types
- 7:48Speaker 3: of mistakes, So, you know, rightly, so Mayo saying it's
- 7:53Speaker 3: on me and they've got to correct this. So it'll
- 7:58Speaker 3: be all about how they respond this week against the Colts.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Yeah, and I kind of thought that they had moved
- 8:02Speaker 4: past this a little bit. This was a huge problem
- 8:05Speaker 4: in the summer. It was a huge problem at the
- 8:06Speaker 4: outside of the season, they were doing this a lot.
- 8:09Speaker 4: I kind of felt like they got away from that
- 8:11Speaker 4: a little bit and had settled down. I'm not telling
- 8:13Speaker 4: you they were mistake free, but they weren't as many
- 8:16Speaker 4: false starts, you know, the really you know, lining up
- 8:19Speaker 4: in the neutral zone. We didn't even talk about the
- 8:21Speaker 4: Infonny Jennings jumping off side when they were clearly running
- 8:24Speaker 4: the clock out at the end of the quarter trying
- 8:26Speaker 4: to get them to jump off side. Yeah, So that
- 8:29Speaker 4: kind of stuff I thought had sort of dissipated over
- 8:32Speaker 4: the last same month. Yeah, but it was back.
- 8:34Speaker 6: Big theme today in the locker room too, was just
- 8:36Speaker 6: the communication on defense, which I thought was you talk
- 8:39Speaker 6: about things that are disappointing, and that to me, you
- 8:41Speaker 6: get to this point in the season, you just expect
- 8:43Speaker 6: I mean you're seeing it, I think with a lot
- 8:45Speaker 6: of teams around the league. When you watch, you know,
- 8:46Speaker 6: some of these games where you see teams are starting
- 8:49Speaker 6: to click a little bit. For some of these teams,
- 8:50Speaker 6: they're starting to play well and to see, you know,
- 8:53Speaker 6: just so many blown coverages. I know Kyle Dugger was
- 8:56Speaker 6: in the crosshirs yesterday. I don't know what's going on
- 8:59Speaker 6: with him. I kind of felt the same way wat.
- 9:01Speaker 6: It just didn't look like he was locked into this game.
- 9:04Speaker 6: Maybe it's the ankle injury, maybe it's something else. But
- 9:07Speaker 6: you know, just their best players, their captains, the guys
- 9:10Speaker 6: that you need, they're not all those guys are stepping up.
- 9:12Speaker 6: And that's you know, Kyle Dugger is somebody that I
- 9:14Speaker 6: know he's battled injuries this year, but a lot of
- 9:16Speaker 6: those guys that they've retained just aren't stepping into these
- 9:19Speaker 6: leadership roles and setting the tone with their you know,
- 9:22Speaker 6: good play and holding guys accountable. They're often the ones
- 9:25Speaker 6: who are leading the way with the mistakes.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree.
- 9:28Speaker 3: And here's the thing. Last week, they played a similar
- 9:31Speaker 3: offense in terms of motion and inception and speed, you know,
- 9:35Speaker 3: good good weapons, and you thought oh, maybe they'll be
- 9:38Speaker 3: a little bit more prepared for that this year, this
- 9:41Speaker 3: this week, and it was the opposite. It was like
- 9:44Speaker 3: they got even worse. At the end of the day.
- 9:50Speaker 3: It comes down to the players on the field. They're
- 9:53Speaker 3: not that good on defense. Uh, they don't have a
- 9:56Speaker 3: lot of you know, high end talent. And when you
- 10:00Speaker 3: play a team that stresses you the way Miami or
- 10:03Speaker 3: the Rams do, it forces you into mistakes. It forces
- 10:06Speaker 3: you into miscommunication because you're you're feeling that pressure, uh,
- 10:10Speaker 3: and you're seeing things and you know you're not reacting
- 10:13Speaker 3: well and you don't really have the you know, that
- 10:16Speaker 3: confidence out of your own ability. And I say that
- 10:19Speaker 3: on offense too. You know, you press, you're on the road,
- 10:22Speaker 3: you hear the fans, and you want to get off
- 10:25Speaker 3: the mark quicker to get that little edge, you know,
- 10:28Speaker 3: on on the snap, and you make mistakes over and
- 10:32Speaker 3: over again, and a lot of times it comes from
- 10:34Speaker 3: a lack of confidence in your own ability.
- 10:36Speaker 4: I really think that's a great point about the offensive
- 10:38Speaker 4: lineman and the false starts, because it wasn't always like
- 10:43Speaker 4: oh I thought it was on one, it was on
- 10:44Speaker 4: you know, it was on two. It wasn't like that
- 10:46Speaker 4: it was trying to get a jump start on the
- 10:49Speaker 4: snap right. The first one on third, the.
- 10:52Speaker 6: One hard didn't even notice. Really, I mean it was there,
- 10:54Speaker 6: but it was you know, it was close. Brown say this.
- 10:57Speaker 4: It was a clear false start that I've seen let
- 11:00Speaker 4: go periodically when I watch NFL games all the time. Yeah,
- 11:04Speaker 4: you know, but that's exactly what it is. That's what
- 11:07Speaker 4: the right tackle guy for Kansas City gets called for
- 11:11Speaker 4: all the time. I forget his name. It's not uh Sum,
- 11:16Speaker 4: IT'SI No, it's not one Ya Morris, it's the other
- 11:18Speaker 4: one I think it gets he gets called for. It's
- 11:21Speaker 4: you're leaving early, you're getting your your You're like you
- 11:26Speaker 4: you're getting your kicked before the snap right, and you're
- 11:29Speaker 4: trying to time it up so it's simultaneous, and he
- 11:32Speaker 4: was early. I mean, it was definitely a false start.
- 11:33Speaker 4: But to Mike's point, I've seen it let go, sure,
- 11:37Speaker 4: and I think you're right, Fred. That's why they do
- 11:39Speaker 4: it because they're not trusting their technique, their ability to
- 11:42Speaker 4: hold up.
- 11:42Speaker 3: The biggest example of that is the NBA. You know
- 11:44Speaker 3: and say, oh, the bad teams. They make a lot
- 11:46Speaker 3: of fouls and a lot of times it's because the
- 11:48Speaker 3: other teams is better and you're reaching and you're you're
- 11:51Speaker 3: out of position and they're faster than you, so you're
- 11:54Speaker 3: committing the fouls because you're just not in the right position.
- 11:58Speaker 3: You know, you know, better teams force you know, lesser
- 12:02Speaker 3: talented teams into mistakes.
- 12:03Speaker 6: Yeah, you know what it makes me think of is
- 12:05Speaker 6: when I'm refing a hockey game and there's a team
- 12:08Speaker 6: just has pinned in their zone and the offense is humming,
- 12:12Speaker 6: and you're like, here it comes, here comes a trip,
- 12:14Speaker 6: here comes a hole because one team is overmatched and
- 12:16Speaker 6: they're trying to keep up and they're getting desperate, and
- 12:18Speaker 6: that's when you get sloppy and mistakes.
- 12:20Speaker 3: But you know, to everyone's point that they've been making
- 12:22Speaker 3: and you know, it's the pre snap stuff. You know,
- 12:25Speaker 3: when you're in the heat of the moment and you
- 12:27Speaker 3: hold somebody or you know, that's different. But pre snap
- 12:32Speaker 3: is really is all about focus and just being locked
- 12:36Speaker 3: in and not you know, doing it right, not worrying
- 12:40Speaker 3: about I got to get that extra step. But if
- 12:42Speaker 3: you're if you're having trouble blocking, that's when these mistakes.
- 12:47Speaker 6: Happen, especially in the start of the game. Which it
- 12:49Speaker 6: just it's set the whole tone. And I mean each
- 12:51Speaker 6: progressive penalty got worse and worse, and it just, I
- 12:54Speaker 6: mean it depresses us as we're watching and we're like,
- 12:56Speaker 6: oh my god. But I can imagine as a player,
- 12:58Speaker 6: you're like, I mean, I played on a bad football team.
- 13:00Speaker 6: I know when those mistakes start happening and everybody starts
- 13:03Speaker 6: pointing fingers at each other.
- 13:04Speaker 3: And it's we're seeing it with the quarterback too. I
- 13:07Speaker 3: mean we're I'm not surprised of the turnovers. This is
- 13:11Speaker 3: what I expected. I keep the game plan, keep being aggressive.
- 13:16Speaker 3: But he's doing this because he's pressing. He wants to
- 13:21Speaker 3: be the hero.
- 13:22Speaker 4: These two turnovers I absolutely put in mad care. Yeah,
- 13:26Speaker 4: I mean it was I don't know, it was either
- 13:28Speaker 4: twenty four or nothing or thirty one. I think it
- 13:30Speaker 4: was twenty four or nothing before any turnovers happened. So
- 13:34Speaker 4: this wasn't This game didn't get out of hand because
- 13:36Speaker 4: of turnovers. The turnovers happened because the game got out
- 13:39Speaker 4: of hand. In my view, I don't think that there's
- 13:42Speaker 4: any way he tries to swim move with the football,
- 13:45Speaker 4: you know, fifteen yards behind the line of scrimmage. If
- 13:48Speaker 4: it's seven to seven. Yep, you know he's got he's
- 13:50Speaker 4: got to be feeling I go to make a play here, Yeah, right,
- 13:53Speaker 4: Like we can't just I can't just throw it away
- 13:55Speaker 4: in punt because we just can't live that way. So
- 13:59Speaker 4: I agree with you. That would be my one major
- 14:03Speaker 4: concern is the situation starting to affect Drake May and
- 14:08Speaker 4: now leading to the things that the detractors talk about,
- 14:12Speaker 4: bad habits, trying to do too much, not staying within
- 14:15Speaker 4: the you know, the the structure of the offense. You know,
- 14:20Speaker 4: it's great to see the fourth down touchdown pass where
- 14:23Speaker 4: he runs around and makes a play on share a bill.
- 14:25Speaker 4: I mean that was Superman, that was Josh Allen, that
- 14:28Speaker 4: was Patrick Mahome. It's also not sustainable. You can't win
- 14:32Speaker 4: that way.
- 14:32Speaker 3: It's not how you want to live. Back to the
- 14:36Speaker 3: offensive line, Gerard was asked a couple times yesterday and today,
- 14:41Speaker 3: will there be changes on the offensive line. You didn't
- 14:44Speaker 3: say no. Yeah, you didn't say no. So I'm assuming
- 14:48Speaker 3: that we'll probably see some I don't know what they're
- 14:51Speaker 3: gonna do it left tackle, but you could see maybe
- 14:55Speaker 3: a Caleb Wallace out there maybe.
- 14:57Speaker 4: Or doesn't sound it, no, what about like he's ready?
- 15:00Speaker 3: What about Robinson?
- 15:02Speaker 4: Robinson's a guard.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Yeah, but like, could we see him in there not
- 15:06Speaker 3: a tackle?
- 15:07Speaker 8: No?
- 15:08Speaker 6: Maybe I wouldn't rule it out. You could put him back.
- 15:10Speaker 4: In that guard and move a went back out at tackle.
- 15:13Speaker 4: I don't really think that solves your problem. Yeh, but yeah,
- 15:16Speaker 4: I mean I think I think anything is in place.
- 15:18Speaker 4: City so played a little tackle last week.
- 15:21Speaker 6: I think that's it.
- 15:22Speaker 4: I mean, you try to use him.
- 15:23Speaker 6: I mean, theoretically your third tackle is Mike and when
- 15:26Speaker 6: you so, if you're gonna have to make a switch
- 15:28Speaker 6: to your next tackle up, it's all now going to
- 15:30Speaker 6: cause all this rejiggering along the offensive line. I'd like
- 15:33Speaker 6: to see Leyden Robinson just get in a left guard.
- 15:35Speaker 6: I think we've seen Michael Jordan struggle this whole season.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Have you seen anything see I actually think Jordan has
- 15:41Speaker 4: been there, if not the best, the second best lineman
- 15:44Speaker 4: they have. Now I think he's been going down, I
- 15:50Speaker 4: don't know, decreasing or whatever. I think his performance has
- 15:54Speaker 4: dropped off recently. But do you have you seen anything
- 15:59Speaker 4: that Leyden Robinson Like? They've decided that he can't play
- 16:02Speaker 4: the left side, he can only play the right.
- 16:03Speaker 6: No, And actually Scott Peters has asked about that last
- 16:06Speaker 6: week on Friday when we talked to the coaches, and
- 16:08Speaker 6: he said, yeah, we're trying to get him involved. He
- 16:10Speaker 6: didn't explicitly say it, but it does sound like he
- 16:12Speaker 6: can play on the left side.
- 16:13Speaker 4: But you're right, because we got an question in the
- 16:15Speaker 4: mail bag this week that someone said, well, I saw
- 16:17Speaker 4: a blurb that he can't play the left side, and
- 16:19Speaker 4: I was like, I didn't. No, I'm not in the
- 16:22Speaker 4: locker room like you guys every day, so I didn't
- 16:24Speaker 4: see that.
- 16:25Speaker 6: I mean, it's it's all kind of conjecture at this
- 16:27Speaker 6: point with him. But I think that's a move that
- 16:29Speaker 6: I'd like to see, just to get to give the
- 16:30Speaker 6: rookie some chances I think he.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Needs to do.
- 16:33Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean he put him in that that group
- 16:35Speaker 6: just with Jordan. I mean there was like one of
- 16:37Speaker 6: the side he just struggles with the stunts, like he
- 16:39Speaker 6: just locks onto his guy and walks him right into
- 16:41Speaker 6: the left tackle and then here comes the looper and
- 16:43Speaker 6: he comes right in. And that's I've been seeing that happen.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Ben Brown has not handled one of those interior tackle
- 16:48Speaker 4: end stunts. Well, again, this is not a Ben Brown thing.
- 16:53Speaker 4: This is not a Tray Jacobs thing. These guys are
- 16:57Speaker 4: being asked to do something that they're probably not ready
- 17:00Speaker 4: or capable of doing. And I don't think anybody is
- 17:03Speaker 4: failing on a lack of effort or anything like that.
- 17:06Speaker 4: So I just think they need better players up front.
- 17:08Speaker 6: Yeah, I'd love to see Wallace come back at some point.
- 17:11Speaker 6: I mean anything Mayo, I wasn't a Mayo, but you
- 17:12Speaker 6: said I think he did to Mayo today, not this week,
- 17:15Speaker 6: not this week.
- 17:15Speaker 4: But I think he said not this week. I think.
- 17:17Speaker 4: I mean, sometimes I can't hear the questions. I think
- 17:20Speaker 4: that was a question about Wallace. Maybe it was about
- 17:22Speaker 4: someone else. It's I mean, it's for getting and he has.
- 17:25Speaker 6: Four games, so what I mean, what's it?
- 17:27Speaker 4: I mean he's getting.
- 17:28Speaker 6: Maybe you can hold out hope that he's gonna get
- 17:31Speaker 6: back after the bye week, be ready to go almost
- 17:33Speaker 6: right out of the gate and play four final games,
- 17:36Speaker 6: but even that's hard to you know, really, I mean,
- 17:38Speaker 6: they're gonna have questions at right tack.
- 17:40Speaker 4: And he's been out a while now, so even if
- 17:41Speaker 4: he was out there today, you know, we'll find out
- 17:43Speaker 4: what Evan gets here. If he was out there at
- 17:45Speaker 4: practice today. Can he be activated this week and be
- 17:49Speaker 4: ready to play? Yet probably be asking a lot like
- 17:51Speaker 4: cool Strange has been out for a long time. He
- 17:54Speaker 4: obviously needed at least two weeks. We'll see if he's
- 17:57Speaker 4: activated this week.
- 17:59Speaker 3: So, Mike, you were in the locker room, I was
- 18:02Speaker 3: what else.
- 18:02Speaker 4: Was going on?
- 18:03Speaker 6: Well, ja Bill Peppers spoke, he stepped into the mics.
- 18:06Speaker 6: You know, it didn't say anything about his legal situation,
- 18:08Speaker 6: on the advice of his lawyer, so, you know, just
- 18:11Speaker 6: kind of general glad to be back in the in
- 18:13Speaker 6: the room. He could take it day by day. It
- 18:16Speaker 6: does sound like he'll be out there in the bubble
- 18:18Speaker 6: today for practice, So I don't know, I mean, there's
- 18:21Speaker 6: just been a lot of.
- 18:23Speaker 4: I should also question today's practices. Gonna be a walk through.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Yeah, well in the bubble.
- 18:27Speaker 4: In the bubble that we understand, So they might be
- 18:30Speaker 4: got like Kayden Wallace might be out there. It might
- 18:31Speaker 4: not necessarily mean right, he's back.
- 18:34Speaker 6: Might be watching. So, yeah, we hear from him. We
- 18:37Speaker 6: hear from Gonzo as well, not you know, not a
- 18:39Speaker 6: lot to say with Gonzo, but I you know, you
- 18:41Speaker 6: can just tell. I mean, I thought, what summed it
- 18:43Speaker 6: up for me today was Jonathan Jones, and one of
- 18:46Speaker 6: the questions was just like are you sick of Like
- 18:49Speaker 6: is this hard? Like going through this? And Jonathan Jones
- 18:51Speaker 6: was like, yeah, honestly, it's it's hard to lose. And
- 18:53Speaker 6: this is you know, why you pour everything into this
- 18:56Speaker 6: is to win games, and we haven't done that yet.
- 18:59Speaker 6: And you know, the theme from him just was kind
- 19:01Speaker 6: of related to what we said about the defense. Just
- 19:04Speaker 6: guys aren't locked in. Guys aren't locked in on the game.
- 19:06Speaker 6: They're not on every single detail, and you know, to
- 19:10Speaker 6: be honest, I feel like that's kind of what we've
- 19:11Speaker 6: seen the last couple of years around here. Like you know,
- 19:13Speaker 6: before everyone piles on this coaching staff about things like
- 19:17Speaker 6: I didn't see a lot of improvement last year. I
- 19:19Speaker 6: saw a lot of the same mistakes happening right through
- 19:21Speaker 6: the end. They were able to squeeze out a couple
- 19:23Speaker 6: of games at the end, but I just think this
- 19:25Speaker 6: is the sign of a team that doesn't have it
- 19:27Speaker 6: this year and isn't going to come together and they're
- 19:30Speaker 6: not on all their details and they're not locked in,
- 19:32Speaker 6: and you know, as you fall farther out of the
- 19:34Speaker 6: you know, relevance in terms of the playoffs. I think
- 19:37Speaker 6: it's it's harder to ask that out of your team.
- 19:38Speaker 6: I'm sure you.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Guys saw Patriots still respect I mean.
- 19:42Speaker 6: I'm sure you guys saw Patriots teams where it's twelve wins,
- 19:46Speaker 6: it's thirteen wins, and they are getting better and better
- 19:49Speaker 6: because they know they have an opportunity to have home
- 19:51Speaker 6: field advantage, and they're in the mix, and they're holding
- 19:54Speaker 6: each other accountable because they want, you know, and so
- 19:56Speaker 6: I think those things snowball. But the snowball goes in
- 19:59Speaker 6: both directions. When you're out of this, it.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Says something that I wonder if it's occurring, and it
- 20:06Speaker 3: is they hold each other accountable. The self policing of.
- 20:09Speaker 4: The locker room.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, we've heard Dante said in the past
- 20:13Speaker 3: he knew that they had a good team when the
- 20:15Speaker 3: locker room started to police itself. And you wonder, who
- 20:19Speaker 3: are the guys right now that are holding the other
- 20:24Speaker 3: guys accountable. Who are the policemen in the locker room.
- 20:27Speaker 3: I don't know the answer to that. No, I don't
- 20:29Speaker 3: know if there is an answer to that.
- 20:31Speaker 6: And I think your policemen are usually kind of scary guys,
- 20:34Speaker 6: right like William McGinn, Guys credibility.
- 20:38Speaker 3: That you you know, Okay, I'm going to listen to
- 20:40Speaker 3: this guy because he knows what he's talking about.
- 20:42Speaker 6: So it gets harder, you know, it gets harder.
- 20:44Speaker 4: And I agree with Mike's point, you know, and we're
- 20:46Speaker 4: not trying to be critical of, you know, the Belichick regime,
- 20:49Speaker 4: but it was very similar to It was different but
- 20:53Speaker 4: similar Like last year, I think they weren't really heavily penalized,
- 20:56Speaker 4: but you saw similar kind of performances with breakdowns in
- 21:01Speaker 4: key spots, you know, defensively when they played against quality opponents,
- 21:05Speaker 4: and you know, you get like these weird plays that
- 21:10Speaker 4: would happen every once in a while, and you just
- 21:12Speaker 4: like the things that prevent you from winning. This year,
- 21:15Speaker 4: it's a lot of just really correctable stuff, like the
- 21:18Speaker 4: pre snap penalties that have been a periodic problem all year,
- 21:22Speaker 4: going back to the summer. So it's been just similar
- 21:26Speaker 4: kind of a lack of discipline and lack of talent,
- 21:30Speaker 4: but it's sort of unfolding and manifested.
- 21:32Speaker 6: I'd also just you know, throw the end of game
- 21:34Speaker 6: with the Raiders a couple of years ago, as you know,
- 21:36Speaker 6: it's it's just an example of a team that's like
- 21:38Speaker 6: just so trying to do too much and so in
- 21:41Speaker 6: their own heads that they just start making stupid mistakes
- 21:44Speaker 6: and doing things that you know, usually those kind of
- 21:46Speaker 6: teams wouldn't do.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Do your job. Just do your job.
- 21:50Speaker 6: Just that simple. If only it was that easy.
- 21:53Speaker 4: So what was the you know, you always ask us
- 21:55Speaker 4: what the mood is like? You asked Evan and Mike
- 21:58Speaker 4: in the locker room out of practice. What I'm curious
- 22:02Speaker 4: what it was like in Miami, Like with you guys
- 22:04Speaker 4: in the press box.
- 22:06Speaker 3: You know, what was the Well, the Miami press boxes,
- 22:09Speaker 3: you guys are all because it's spread out, you don't
- 22:12Speaker 3: really hear or even see other people the way it is.
- 22:16Speaker 4: It is a difference. Yeah, Mike, you wouldn't know this.
- 22:19Speaker 6: Yeah I didn't because I didn't go to a super Bowl.
- 22:21Speaker 6: Oh wait, no, this something you don't go anywhere.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Yeah. I didn't get a sense from anyone of a mood,
- 22:28Speaker 3: you know, from anyone. I know there was reports afterwards
- 22:31Speaker 3: from a couple of writers about guys yuck in and
- 22:33Speaker 3: up in the locker room in terms of the Patriots,
- 22:35Speaker 3: But I had a problem with that Okay, so why
- 22:41Speaker 3: don't we explain.
- 22:42Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, Fred just sort of set the table there.
- 22:44Speaker 4: There was a couple of different writers were mentioning that
- 22:48Speaker 4: it didn't seem like it was a locker room after
- 22:51Speaker 4: the game. That was indicative of the game how badly
- 22:56Speaker 4: they got beat. They were, you know, not that they
- 22:58Speaker 4: were having a party, but they just thought it was
- 23:00Speaker 4: a little lighter than you would expect. Because I read
- 23:04Speaker 4: four or five different writers. I think I saw Mark Daniels,
- 23:07Speaker 4: I think I saw Greg Bdard, I think I saw
- 23:09Speaker 4: Andrew Callahan, and they were kind of across the board,
- 23:12Speaker 4: not saying that it was a party, but just thought
- 23:16Speaker 4: it was a little odd that it was a little
- 23:17Speaker 4: bit lighter mood than you would expect after that loss,
- 23:21Speaker 4: that kind of a loss. What I didn't like was
- 23:24Speaker 4: sort of Drake May seemed to be the only one
- 23:27Speaker 4: who took the loss seriously, like really, like you had
- 23:30Speaker 4: fifty two guys that were playing poker, you know, after
- 23:34Speaker 4: the game, Like I don't really.
- 23:35Speaker 6: You know why it never looks like he's last feet.
- 23:37Speaker 4: You know. And I'm not suggesting that these guys had
- 23:40Speaker 4: it wrong. I wasn't there, so I'm not suggesting that
- 23:43Speaker 4: anybody had a bad report. I think they probably all accurately,
- 23:49Speaker 4: you know, conveyed. I talked to Mike Reese about it.
- 23:51Speaker 4: He said he didn't really see much of that. Just
- 23:54Speaker 4: as a guy who saw it a little bit differently,
- 23:57Speaker 4: I just find it hard to believe that the one
- 23:58Speaker 4: and only guy that was gutted after the loss was
- 24:02Speaker 4: Drake May. I just think that's too convenient for me.
- 24:05Speaker 4: You know, I watched Drake May play the game. I
- 24:07Speaker 4: know how he felt. I know he didn't feel like
- 24:09Speaker 4: he played very well. He reiterated that Mike and I
- 24:12Speaker 4: saw him when he spoke to us a little while ago.
- 24:16Speaker 4: I think that the turnovers are really on his mind.
- 24:20Speaker 4: Just twelve turnovers now and seven starts right, it's seven
- 24:24Speaker 4: picks and five. I think that that's on his mind.
- 24:28Speaker 4: I don't think he feels like he played well. I
- 24:30Speaker 4: just find it hard to believe that he's the only one.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Yeah, right, you.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Know, And that's kind of the way it was portrayed
- 24:35Speaker 4: a little bit. So that's I'm not questioning. Please don't.
- 24:38Speaker 4: This is not one of those things that needs to
- 24:39Speaker 4: go viral. Like, I'm not saying that the writers didn't
- 24:43Speaker 4: get it right, I just I just think that they
- 24:45Speaker 4: kind of go out of your way because right now
- 24:47Speaker 4: the fair haired boy is Drake May. So we're going
- 24:49Speaker 4: to make sure we make him there trying to. It
- 24:52Speaker 4: wasn't Drake May.
- 24:53Speaker 6: He's the main character.
- 24:54Speaker 3: And the only he's being let down by everybody on
- 24:56Speaker 3: the team. Now, yeah, they're creating that, you.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Know what I mean? Yeah, it was a Fredlake aside,
- 25:02Speaker 4: like a little knit to pick.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Fair enough, fair enough. Yeah, So back to your original question. Now,
- 25:07Speaker 3: I didn't sense a mood in the press box for sure.
- 25:11Speaker 3: It was pretty quiet professional.
- 25:13Speaker 6: Yeah, I would hope.
- 25:15Speaker 3: So, yeah, I will say that, you know, the press
- 25:19Speaker 3: box itself stinks. The food stinks in Miami, but there's
- 25:24Speaker 3: an intro into net hard wire at every seat much
- 25:28Speaker 3: much uh much appreciated. So in terms of my technology,
- 25:33Speaker 3: everything was very smooth. No hot dogs, no hot dogs
- 25:37Speaker 3: really not not good food.
- 25:38Speaker 6: Not good food Miami.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Although the night before we went to a place in
- 25:43Speaker 3: called Mastros.
- 25:44Speaker 6: Oh yeah, is that is that like that? I don't
- 25:48Speaker 6: want to call it a chain, but I think there's
- 25:49Speaker 6: a Mastros.
- 25:49Speaker 3: I think there's like four.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's fine. I've never heard of the steaks
- 25:55Speaker 4: person I've heard of good stuff. I just came out
- 26:01Speaker 4: like purple to a baggy sweatrop.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Although I bought, I bought. I bought some people drinks.
- 26:06Speaker 3: I bought four drinks. It was over one hundred dollars.
- 26:09Speaker 4: For four drinks.
- 26:09Speaker 6: Yeah, what was it?
- 26:11Speaker 4: Holy smokes? Yeah, you expense that right especial martinis.
- 26:15Speaker 3: We can't, you can't. I wish I could. Yeah. So
- 26:21Speaker 3: it was two old fashions, which, by the way, Graham
- 26:25Speaker 3: to old fashions?
- 26:26Speaker 4: Do you like an old fashioned? I don't drink a
- 26:28Speaker 4: lot of I don't drink a lot of hard liquor like.
- 26:31Speaker 6: The bitters made a lot.
- 26:33Speaker 4: Just like a beer guy. But I'll drink an old
- 26:35Speaker 4: fashion everything too.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Old fashions one Jamison straight up and uh tequila and soda.
- 26:43Speaker 6: I mean that's right there, that's where one hundred bucks.
- 26:46Speaker 4: Mike, did that? Even cast you that in l A.
- 26:48Speaker 6: No, maybe some places, but those all sound like drinks
- 26:52Speaker 6: that would have made up my little restaurant in Cape
- 26:54Speaker 6: cod like the old fashion doing the muddling and you know,
- 26:56Speaker 6: a Manhattan plus plus.
- 26:59Speaker 3: I forgot my phone in the uber. Oh gee, so
- 27:03Speaker 3: we had to call the uber driver and he came
- 27:05Speaker 3: back and so I.
- 27:06Speaker 4: Had area him.
- 27:07Speaker 3: I had to grease him. So it was an expensive
- 27:10Speaker 3: night for Medy.
- 27:15Speaker 6: You dressed up like Crockett and tubs. You have the
- 27:17Speaker 6: whole like Miami thing going on. You know.
- 27:19Speaker 3: There were rumors that Shequille O'Neal was in the restaurant,
- 27:21Speaker 3: but we didn't go seek him out.
- 27:23Speaker 4: We've had something really really good to Miami over the years.
- 27:26Speaker 4: There's had some good dinners.
- 27:27Speaker 6: I've heard many.
- 27:28Speaker 3: I've heard many anyway, So that was the highlight of
- 27:31Speaker 3: the weekend because of the game.
- 27:33Speaker 4: So yeah, that's true.
- 27:35Speaker 3: What do we think do we have a shot against
- 27:37Speaker 3: the Colts?
- 27:38Speaker 6: Yes, yeah, I think they do, But I I don't
- 27:40Speaker 6: want to like say it's a big game and the
- 27:42Speaker 6: sense of it being a real big game, but yeah,
- 27:44Speaker 6: it's it's the last time they're going to really I think, BEF,
- 27:47Speaker 6: you have a chance, like at least on paper going
- 27:49Speaker 6: into the game, like not to say they have no
- 27:50Speaker 6: chance upsets.
- 27:52Speaker 4: You don't need to necessarily pull an upset in this one.
- 27:55Speaker 4: But I called it like when we were taping our
- 27:57Speaker 4: TV earlier. It's not like it's hard to say when
- 27:59Speaker 4: you're three and nine, it's a must win because obviously
- 28:01Speaker 4: the you know, the playoffs are out of the picture,
- 28:04Speaker 4: but it's a must respond.
- 28:05Speaker 6: I feel the same way.
- 28:06Speaker 4: You have to, like what's early lines two and a
- 28:10Speaker 4: half or three underdogs? Underdogs, Yeah, sort of vacillated.
- 28:15Speaker 3: So you get two at home for an outdoor stadium,
- 28:18Speaker 3: so like five.
- 28:20Speaker 6: I mean, but I agree, Paul. I mean, I was
- 28:23Speaker 6: trying to delicately put it, but you're right. I mean,
- 28:26Speaker 6: this is a home game. You know they will have
- 28:28Speaker 6: two home games at the end of the year. But
- 28:30Speaker 6: it's an important game. I mean, I you know, I
- 28:32Speaker 6: just I don't think that this colts teams all that great.
- 28:34Speaker 6: I mean, I.
- 28:35Speaker 4: Think wise they're missing a quarterback and can effectively run
- 28:40Speaker 4: an offense. But and this is another game you want
- 28:43Speaker 4: to you want to make fun of the other team.
- 28:45Speaker 4: You can do it all you want, go down player
- 28:47Speaker 4: for player and tell me how many of you'd take
- 28:50Speaker 4: a lot.
- 28:51Speaker 6: But if you want to talk about this defense, and
- 28:54Speaker 6: we all know what Anthony Anthony Richardson experience has been
- 28:57Speaker 6: like this year. If he goes out with this defense
- 28:59Speaker 6: and he picks them apart, and he looks all of
- 29:01Speaker 6: a sudden like he's getting it now, Like that's gonna
- 29:04Speaker 6: be that's gonna.
- 29:05Speaker 4: Be tough, tough pill seven.
- 29:08Speaker 6: Completion percentage, that's what he completes.
- 29:11Speaker 3: So you're gonna force him to throw, You're gonna load
- 29:14Speaker 3: the box. What are you doing?
- 29:15Speaker 9: No?
- 29:15Speaker 4: What they do? Yes, I would, I would try everything
- 29:18Speaker 4: you have to make sure you stop Jonathan Taylor. But
- 29:23Speaker 4: to Mike's point, if a guy who completes forty seven
- 29:26Speaker 4: percent of his throws comes in here and completes sixty
- 29:29Speaker 4: five percent, that's.
- 29:31Speaker 3: A problem to pay.
- 29:32Speaker 4: Now. That's what he did against the Jets the first
- 29:34Speaker 4: game that he came back from the benching. He was
- 29:37Speaker 4: much more efficient. And the Jets defense is obviously in
- 29:39Speaker 4: disarray that whole I mean, yeah, they're hiring their old
- 29:44Speaker 4: GM to be a head hunter for a new chief.
- 29:47Speaker 4: I don't even know what's going on there right, it's unbelievable,
- 29:53Speaker 4: like you would have to make that stuff up. But
- 29:57Speaker 4: if Richardson comes in here and looks efficient, like I'm
- 30:00Speaker 4: not talking about make plays because I expect him to
- 30:02Speaker 4: make plays. Even last game he was eleven for twenty
- 30:05Speaker 4: eight for one hundred and seventy two yards, Like he's
- 30:09Speaker 4: going to get the ball downfield to Alec Pierce and
- 30:13Speaker 4: Michael Pittman. And I mean, I think you're going to
- 30:16Speaker 4: catch a break and not see Josh downs.
- 30:18Speaker 3: Big Brendan's schooler game, Big Brendan's schooler game.
- 30:21Speaker 4: I don't like that matchup long do not like that?
- 30:23Speaker 6: Oh it's a tough tackle for him.
- 30:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't like that match.
- 30:27Speaker 3: To just get in his face, don't let just just
- 30:29Speaker 3: don't let him see what he's throwing at.
- 30:30Speaker 6: He'll still throw it, He'll have a guy.
- 30:34Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't expect him to look, you know, like
- 30:38Speaker 4: Tua did you know, and just have this rhythmic just
- 30:41Speaker 4: dissection of the defense. That's not what Richardson is about.
- 30:44Speaker 4: But if he make a big play or two, you
- 30:48Speaker 4: get Taylor twenty five carries?
- 30:50Speaker 3: How are they up? Defense?
- 30:52Speaker 4: Is really Drake really good upfront on defense?
- 30:55Speaker 6: I got some good players.
- 30:55Speaker 4: There's this a Forrest Buckner and Grover Stewart inside is
- 30:58Speaker 4: a really, really good tandem of defensive tackles. Quinn he
- 31:02Speaker 4: pays a guy that's, you know, not an elite edge rusher, but.
- 31:08Speaker 6: Like four or five sacks.
- 31:09Speaker 3: So is this a bad week for changes on the
- 31:12Speaker 3: offensive line?
- 31:14Speaker 6: I don't know. I mean, look, every week is tough.
- 31:16Speaker 6: I don't I mean, I don't think this is an
- 31:17Speaker 6: exotic defense. They're heavy zone. I mean, they're one of
- 31:20Speaker 6: the most zone in the league. So I think that
- 31:23Speaker 6: might be potentially favorable for Drake if he able to,
- 31:25Speaker 6: you know, find some of those holes.
- 31:26Speaker 4: But you might be able to run. They're not.
- 31:28Speaker 6: Yeah, they're not going to be you know, send guys
- 31:30Speaker 6: from all over the place. They're still kind of a
- 31:32Speaker 6: do what they do defense and play zone.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Are the Colts home versus away this season? Do we know?
- 31:37Speaker 4: I mean they've lost four their last five. You know,
- 31:40Speaker 4: they lost to Detroit last week. A game was reasonably
- 31:42Speaker 4: I think they were down fourteen to six of the half,
- 31:44Speaker 4: so it wasn't like they got blown out. But I
- 31:50Speaker 4: just don't think there's enough There's not enough efficiency with
- 31:54Speaker 4: Richardson Now, if he plays, you know, like he did
- 31:58Speaker 4: against the Jets and puts twenty eight on the board,
- 32:00Speaker 4: you're gonna be in trouble.
- 32:02Speaker 3: And the road two and four on the road. How
- 32:04Speaker 3: are they being coached this year? Are their coaches on
- 32:06Speaker 3: the hot seat?
- 32:08Speaker 4: Well, I mean Shane Steike and I know, like you know,
- 32:10Speaker 4: we talked a lot about Patriots had thirteen penalties in
- 32:13Speaker 4: this game, twelve eleven, I think. Okay, so I think
- 32:17Speaker 4: there was one. I think the Colts had won fewer
- 32:19Speaker 4: and Stiking has taken a lot of the responsibility. You know,
- 32:22Speaker 4: this is on me and how sloppy they've been. So yeah,
- 32:25Speaker 4: I mean, I think anytime you're in first or second
- 32:27Speaker 4: year and you're not having success, you're gonna you're gonna
- 32:31Speaker 4: be on the hot seat.
- 32:31Speaker 6: Yeah, they bench, they Prince Richardson and since he's been back,
- 32:34Speaker 6: they've been running them a little more. So he gets
- 32:36Speaker 6: about ten carries a game, so they'll they're not afraid
- 32:38Speaker 6: to get him and move him, especially in the red
- 32:40Speaker 6: zone where's he's pretty effective.
- 32:42Speaker 3: All right. The tpx utline is eight five to five
- 32:45Speaker 3: PATS five hundred. That's eight five five pats five hundred
- 32:48Speaker 3: podcasts at Patriots dot com. It's the email address, and
- 32:52Speaker 3: of course if you email the show, we will automatically
- 32:56Speaker 3: put you on the distribution list so you can get
- 32:58Speaker 3: the newsletter, which I know Alex has emailed us. We're
- 33:02Speaker 3: gonna have a special.
- 33:03Speaker 4: Already response is giving poll that we all have.
- 33:05Speaker 3: To respond to that'll be in this Friday's newsletter. So
- 33:09Speaker 3: I've got some interesting answers that I'll be giving for
- 33:11Speaker 3: that interest off the beaten pack.
- 33:14Speaker 4: I like when the guy calls his own answers interesting.
- 33:17Speaker 10: Yeah, does that surprise you know?
- 33:20Speaker 3: Well, we should also at some point talk about my
- 33:22Speaker 3: most hated list because from last newsletter.
- 33:25Speaker 4: Yeah, we definitely need to address that. But I missed,
- 33:28Speaker 4: I missed one.
- 33:28Speaker 3: I was first. Evan's here then has.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Returned prom practice, and has returned has returned PROMP practice.
- 33:43Speaker 11: Allright, Evan, A very brief look in to the Patriots
- 33:47Speaker 11: walk through today in the bubble you scribes out. They
- 33:50Speaker 11: kicked us scribes out in the bubble. Uh no pads,
- 33:54Speaker 11: walk through, attire, helmets, jerseys, and your Briel Peppers was
- 33:59Speaker 11: out at practice and they had perfect attendance on the
- 34:03Speaker 11: fifty three man rosters.
- 34:04Speaker 10: So everybody was there.
- 34:05Speaker 3: It was a walk through.
- 34:06Speaker 11: So it was a walkthrough. That's a big part of that.
- 34:09Speaker 11: So well we'll see what that looks like tomorrow. No
- 34:12Speaker 11: injury report today because technically they didn't have to practice today,
- 34:16Speaker 11: so injury reports wait for tomorrow, Thursday, Friday. Uh, so
- 34:21Speaker 11: you'll get a projected injury report on Thanksgiving.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Yeah, so everybody may not realize. But obviously Thanksgiving is Thursday.
- 34:31Speaker 3: The Patriots are off that day, so things are moved
- 34:34Speaker 3: up this week. Usually Tuesday is the day off for
- 34:37Speaker 3: the Patriots. They're practicing today and they'll practice tomorrow. They'll
- 34:44Speaker 3: have Thursday off and then they'll be back practicing on Friday.
- 34:47Speaker 3: For us, we will not have a show on Thursday,
- 34:51Speaker 3: so we have to move things up too. Tomorrow.
- 34:53Speaker 4: We're gonna have to hurry, Picks.
- 34:55Speaker 3: We are gonna have to hurry tomorrow. It's Thursday.
- 34:59Speaker 4: That's what. Well, that's why we're already into Indianapolis. Now,
- 35:01Speaker 4: that's right.
- 35:02Speaker 3: Turn the page on Tuesday Wednesday.
- 35:05Speaker 6: Approach that topic. So well, we gotta get Evans thoughts
- 35:09Speaker 6: on the game. But if we don't, let's talk some film.
- 35:12Speaker 9: Bro.
- 35:15Speaker 3: I did read your review, and uh, you're not the
- 35:19Speaker 3: only one saying it. Jabrill Pepper is not what not
- 35:22Speaker 3: Jabrill Peppers Kyle Duggar a particularly tough day he did.
- 35:27Speaker 3: Some people are speculating he's got to be hurt, but like,
- 35:32Speaker 3: tell me why. This was out of the ordinary and
- 35:36Speaker 3: a really bad game for him.
- 35:37Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean, I thought he had a hand in
- 35:40Speaker 11: all four touchdowns that they allowed in this game.
- 35:42Speaker 6: It was.
- 35:44Speaker 11: It was one of those games where you can just
- 35:46Speaker 11: see that he was swimming in it mentally, just eyes
- 35:49Speaker 11: weren't in the right places. Wasn't seeing through all of
- 35:53Speaker 11: the eye candy and motion and backfield action that this
- 35:56Speaker 11: Dolphins offense likes to throw at you. Well, a lot
- 35:59Speaker 11: of the time they throw, you know, some sort of
- 36:02Speaker 11: eye candy is what you know. We always call it,
- 36:05Speaker 11: the players call it in the backfield to just draw
- 36:09Speaker 11: your eyes away from where they actually want to throw
- 36:11Speaker 11: the ball. Like it doesn't always it's not always we're
- 36:14Speaker 11: going to motion this guy to throw them the football.
- 36:16Speaker 11: Sometimes it's we're going to motion this guy because we're
- 36:19Speaker 11: going to make you look over here, but we're actually.
- 36:21Speaker 10: Gonna throw the ball over there.
- 36:22Speaker 11: I thought that was the biggest issue for Dugger in
- 36:25Speaker 11: this game, was that his eyes were getting caught in
- 36:27Speaker 11: the backfield as this bug is going around fruit fly
- 36:30Speaker 11: and as you know, his eyes were getting caught in
- 36:33Speaker 11: the backfield. And then by the time he was reacting
- 36:36Speaker 11: to where they were actually trying to hit them defensively,
- 36:39Speaker 11: it was too late. So I said this to do
- 36:42Speaker 11: so earlier. Like Kyle Dugger is a much better football
- 36:45Speaker 11: player than what he showed on Sunday. I know people
- 36:47Speaker 11: have concerns about him and coverage, but it's one thing
- 36:51Speaker 11: for to give up a play and here or there.
- 36:54Speaker 11: This was right off the jump, just error error, error error.
- 36:58Speaker 3: So here's the question I have. This is a different
- 37:02Speaker 3: season role wise for Dougger than it was last year.
- 37:08Speaker 3: Do you think with Devin mccordy back there. Obviously with
- 37:13Speaker 3: mccaudy back there, Kyle Duggar's role changes. Yeah, but on
- 37:17Speaker 3: this game, maybe his responsibility was as much mental as
- 37:22Speaker 3: it was physical and he just was having.
- 37:24Speaker 4: A hard Yeah.
- 37:26Speaker 11: I do wonder, you know, Devin, obviously it was two
- 37:28Speaker 11: years ago, but like Jabriel Peppers isn't out there currently
- 37:32Speaker 11: at least in these games. And how much did he
- 37:34Speaker 11: get used to playing off of Jabriel Peppers And now
- 37:37Speaker 11: he's working with Mapu, he's working with Hawkins. You know,
- 37:40Speaker 11: he's working with guys that he doesn't have as much
- 37:43Speaker 11: experience with. But speaking to him after the game, it
- 37:46Speaker 11: he wore it like it wasn't.
- 37:48Speaker 10: Anything to do with role or anything like that. It's just,
- 37:52Speaker 10: you know, he just played poorly in the game.
- 37:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:54Speaker 6: I told Evan my experience as I did I ground
- 37:56Speaker 6: the defensive tape yesterday and the first play of the game.
- 37:59Speaker 6: I put on the first defensive play of the game,
- 38:02Speaker 6: and I didn't really notice him playing bad during the game,
- 38:03Speaker 6: to be honest, when we watched.
- 38:04Speaker 3: It on TV.
- 38:05Speaker 6: When you see it on TV, but first play, and
- 38:09Speaker 6: I well, that's what I was trying to do for
- 38:10Speaker 6: out grinding it, and he just looked like he wasn't
- 38:14Speaker 6: really running like and like the first play, and I
- 38:16Speaker 6: was like jeez. And so continued on and saw a
- 38:18Speaker 6: lot of the stuff like Evan's talking with the eight
- 38:20Speaker 6: chan touchdown to me totally like he's watching it at first,
- 38:24Speaker 6: and then he goes and he just following things to
- 38:26Speaker 6: the right and he has no chance on it. But
- 38:28Speaker 6: but then my experience was then I like went like
- 38:30Speaker 6: on look at Twitter, and like the first thing that
- 38:31Speaker 6: pops up is like there's like a cut up out
- 38:34Speaker 6: there of Kyle Dugard that like somebody put out of
- 38:36Speaker 6: like all his bad plays. So yeah, he I don't
- 38:39Speaker 6: know what it is, but he just had a bad game.
- 38:42Speaker 11: Yeah he gave up, but I think it was it
- 38:44Speaker 11: came down a seventy six yards in coverage, which for
- 38:46Speaker 11: safety is is quite a bit PFF assigned him with
- 38:50Speaker 11: two touchdowns, but like I said, I thought he could
- 38:53Speaker 11: have made a play on all four and wasn't able to.
- 38:56Speaker 11: And look, I they need him to be better than that,
- 38:59Speaker 11: that's for sure. I mean he's a captain, he's a
- 39:00Speaker 11: guy they just paid.
- 39:01Speaker 10: He needs to be better.
- 39:02Speaker 3: I mean you have to give, you know, credit to
- 39:06Speaker 3: the other team. I mean McDaniel had this defense in
- 39:09Speaker 3: a blender for most of the game. I think you know,
- 39:13Speaker 3: if you're a Dolphin fan, you're probably like, oh, this
- 39:16Speaker 3: is this is our this is who McDaniel is. You're
- 39:19Speaker 3: you're pretty exciting.
- 39:20Speaker 4: That's been what it is to you a point. That's
- 39:22Speaker 4: what they've looked like for five weeks. Yeah, since since
- 39:24Speaker 4: he came. It's twenty nine a game now. Yeah, so
- 39:28Speaker 4: you know, I know that people, especially around here, do
- 39:31Speaker 4: not want to say it. Yeah, he's a pretty good quarterback.
- 39:35Speaker 4: And if you want to say it's just for that system, fine,
- 39:37Speaker 4: I'm not smart enough to tell you if he could
- 39:39Speaker 4: do it in another system. But I've seen it with
- 39:41Speaker 4: him in that system and I've seen it without him
- 39:43Speaker 4: in that system. And there's a difference between ten points
- 39:45Speaker 4: a game and twenty nine points a game.
- 39:47Speaker 3: Yeah, but even like going back to McDaniel, like the
- 39:50Speaker 3: decision to really use John of Smith a lot.
- 39:53Speaker 4: You know, it was like what he's done. You know
- 39:56Speaker 4: what did he catch seven for one hundred and nine
- 39:58Speaker 4: the week before?
- 39:59Speaker 3: Yes, he knows that teams are going to focus on Waddle,
- 40:02Speaker 3: they're going to focus on Hill and we've got this
- 40:05Speaker 3: athletic tight end that is probably going to be one
- 40:08Speaker 3: on one in a mismatch. And you know the last
- 40:13Speaker 3: time the Patriots played, they didn't have their well the
- 40:16Speaker 3: running back got hurt early, so you didn't have him
- 40:18Speaker 3: in there. Just too many weapons out there for a
- 40:21Speaker 3: defense like the one we have.
- 40:23Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 40:23Speaker 11: I just think that when I watched it live, you know,
- 40:27Speaker 11: in game observations as a little bit harsh on Marcus
- 40:30Speaker 11: Jones because he was covering Wattle and Wattle had this
- 40:33Speaker 11: huge game, But then watching it back on the film,
- 40:35Speaker 11: it was the middle of the field that was far
- 40:37Speaker 11: more concerning. Linebackers, safeties. Uh, just unable to cover the
- 40:43Speaker 11: areas between the numbers.
- 40:44Speaker 3: And it's not just it sounded like that was recognized
- 40:47Speaker 3: by the Dolphins in their down point.
- 40:49Speaker 10: Yeah, it's not just too like you know, zone or whatever.
- 40:53Speaker 11: It's also if you're like a help defender in the
- 40:55Speaker 11: middle of the field to somebody that's in man to
- 40:57Speaker 11: man coverage and he's expecting, you know, that robber to
- 41:00Speaker 11: be sitting there on the crossing route or something like that,
- 41:03Speaker 11: and they're just getting their eyes or getting pulled out
- 41:05Speaker 11: of the passing lanes by Tua and all those kinds
- 41:08Speaker 11: of things. So you'll actually add it up. And the
- 41:10Speaker 11: two corners gave up like ninety yards of the three
- 41:13Speaker 11: hundred and seventeen that to a throw through four. Like,
- 41:16Speaker 11: I'll take that if you told me that, you know,
- 41:17Speaker 11: you're gonna go into the game and Tyree Kill and
- 41:19Speaker 11: Jalen Waddle or are going to combine for.
- 41:22Speaker 10: Like one fifty something. I think it was. It's like,
- 41:25Speaker 10: it wasn't horrible.
- 41:26Speaker 11: You know, wat had a huge game, and a lot
- 41:28Speaker 11: of that was against zone and a lot of that
- 41:30Speaker 11: was breaking into the middle of the field and some
- 41:33Speaker 11: of the time, yeah, like you know the deep ball,
- 41:35Speaker 11: that's Marcus Jones got beat on that play. But I
- 41:37Speaker 11: didn't think that Marcus Jones was egregious and you know,
- 41:40Speaker 11: just a nice play in the end zone. Yeah, he
- 41:42Speaker 11: had a couple of pass breakups and just to throw
- 41:45Speaker 11: a stat out there next gen you know, tracks how
- 41:48Speaker 11: much separation you're giving up on the on these targets.
- 41:51Speaker 11: When Marcus Jones was in Manton man coverage, he was
- 41:54Speaker 11: giving up zero point seven yards of separation to the
- 41:58Speaker 11: Dolphins receivers under a yard on these targets that he
- 42:02Speaker 11: was getting in man. So he has limitations in terms
- 42:05Speaker 11: of his length and stuff like that to get into
- 42:07Speaker 11: passing lanes. I fully see that, but he's sticking with them.
- 42:11Speaker 11: It's just a matter of actually, you know, preventing the
- 42:15Speaker 11: the completions that have been problems for I think if.
- 42:18Speaker 3: We get another if we get a B or you know,
- 42:23Speaker 3: I'm not even gonna say, you know, an A one
- 42:25Speaker 3: to Gonzales, I think Marcus Jones will be in a
- 42:28Speaker 3: good place as your third cornerback. You know, right now,
- 42:33Speaker 3: all you got really is Gonzales.
- 42:34Speaker 10: If he plays in the slot.
- 42:37Speaker 11: The biggest problem that I see with him is that
- 42:39Speaker 11: when you put him on the outside, it's not so
- 42:42Speaker 11: much that he's five to eight and the other guys
- 42:43Speaker 11: six foot four, because that wasn't the case here. The
- 42:45Speaker 11: problem is is when you get the ball throw in
- 42:47Speaker 11: your direction, he doesn't have the reach or the radius
- 42:51Speaker 11: to swap passes away and things like that, so he
- 42:54Speaker 11: might be in really good position to play the ball initially,
- 42:57Speaker 11: but these guys are just going to a floor on
- 43:00Speaker 11: the elevator that.
- 43:01Speaker 3: I think he's feisty around the line. He's not afraid
- 43:03Speaker 3: to get his nose in there and make tackles. I'll tackle.
- 43:06Speaker 3: I think he's he'll tackle.
- 43:07Speaker 4: I don't like him as much as a cover guy
- 43:09Speaker 4: as you guys do. He'll He's definitely not afraid to
- 43:11Speaker 4: stick his nose in there.
- 43:12Speaker 3: But I don't think totally agree with Yeah. I think
- 43:14Speaker 3: I think he's out of position taking Wattle one on one.
- 43:17Speaker 3: He's just like, that's just well.
- 43:19Speaker 4: I think they all had their chances with Wattle one
- 43:21Speaker 4: on one. I think, you know, this is I agree
- 43:24Speaker 4: with Evan about the linebackers, and this is something I
- 43:27Speaker 4: talked about a lot in the post game. It looked
- 43:29Speaker 4: to me like they were going out of their way.
- 43:33Speaker 4: Tua is doing this like misdirection and he's trying to
- 43:36Speaker 4: open that window. And there were a couple of quick
- 43:39Speaker 4: little throws they had to the sideline that Tavai really defended. Well,
- 43:43Speaker 4: you know, as one. I think to most that lost.
- 43:45Speaker 3: Three yards line was defended pretty well.
- 43:47Speaker 4: But I think it was all a setup, like because
- 43:50Speaker 4: all that did was they started off slant inside, inside
- 43:53Speaker 4: the numbers, inside the hashboks, inside the numbers. Okay, now
- 43:56Speaker 4: we're going to go to the outside. Oh you shut
- 43:59Speaker 4: those down, okay. And then you looked at some of
- 44:01Speaker 4: the replays and it's like Tavai is coming from here
- 44:04Speaker 4: out to here, anticipating another throw to the flat and
- 44:08Speaker 4: it's just opening the window for me. And that's all
- 44:10Speaker 4: they were doing. And this is why I don't put
- 44:12Speaker 4: it on Gonzales, Jones and Jones, even though I don't
- 44:15Speaker 4: think that they were great, Not trying to just excuse them,
- 44:18Speaker 4: but the windows was so big for you know, and
- 44:21Speaker 4: he's really accurate. He's so anticipatory with all his throws.
- 44:25Speaker 4: You always call him Drake may I mean Drew Brees,
- 44:27Speaker 4: and I think that's really good comp Like he throws
- 44:30Speaker 4: the ball before he knows what's happening, because he knows
- 44:33Speaker 4: what's going to happen. Yeah, and that's why sometimes he
- 44:36Speaker 4: throws picks and you look like, what was he thinking
- 44:37Speaker 4: on that one? Because sometimes they did there and they
- 44:39Speaker 4: don't get fooled by it. Dougger almost had one in
- 44:42Speaker 4: the end zone. Yeah, you know, like he just threw
- 44:45Speaker 4: it and Dougger was there and unfortunately he couldn't make
- 44:48Speaker 4: the turnover. But the bigger problem to me is in
- 44:51Speaker 4: the middle. They don't have any pass players, any pass
- 44:55Speaker 4: defenders in the middle of that defense, and you're asking
- 44:58Speaker 4: too much of the guys to you know, this was
- 45:00Speaker 4: a Wattle game. It could easily have been Tyreek if
- 45:03Speaker 4: they would, you know, going on the other side, they
- 45:05Speaker 4: had no answers. Now there was so many every time
- 45:06Speaker 4: they do it was a Tyreek kill. It was caught too.
- 45:08Speaker 4: Like it just they didn't do it that much.
- 45:10Speaker 6: Just so many players where two is just whipping it
- 45:12Speaker 6: by somebody's ear hole and you'll see like like Douger
- 45:14Speaker 6: throws his arm up, you know, just late, but it's
- 45:16Speaker 6: like right, so it looks weird.
- 45:19Speaker 4: It was just like it was effortless those like this
- 45:23Speaker 4: was just like the Rams game, Like there was the
- 45:24Speaker 4: five scoring drives in a row and I don't know
- 45:26Speaker 4: how many in a role in this one.
- 45:28Speaker 10: I think it was four, but I mean it was.
- 45:29Speaker 4: Definitely the game was over.
- 45:31Speaker 7: That was it.
- 45:31Speaker 11: Yeah, they So the Patriots right now are giving up
- 45:34Speaker 11: nine point six yards per pass play between the numbers
- 45:38Speaker 11: twenty eighth and the So they're also twenty eighth and
- 45:42Speaker 11: EPA per play.
- 45:42Speaker 10: If you are like me and care about that more, Yeah, but.
- 45:47Speaker 4: There you want to give us thirty seconds on EPI.
- 45:50Speaker 10: Yeah, right, so I can.
- 45:51Speaker 4: Make fun of somebody.
- 45:52Speaker 11: I'll teach them a thing or two. But yeah, they
- 45:55Speaker 11: they you know, they don't defend the middle of the field. Well,
- 45:57Speaker 11: this has been going on all year, and I think
- 45:59Speaker 11: the one second guest that I would just have from
- 46:01Speaker 11: a coaching perspective is they don't defend the middle of
- 46:04Speaker 11: the field well, and yet they're playing a ton of
- 46:07Speaker 11: base defense. So they're just putting more linebackers on the field.
- 46:12Speaker 11: And then these teams are seeing ellis to buy Taki
- 46:16Speaker 11: talkie and they're seeing them out on the field and
- 46:18Speaker 11: they're like, well, why would I throw the ball at
- 46:20Speaker 11: Christian Gonzalez when I could throw the ball at these guys,
- 46:23Speaker 11: And then they're just getting picked apart. This game, they
- 46:24Speaker 11: played a little bit more nickel than what they have
- 46:26Speaker 11: been doing. But every single time I saw based defense
- 46:29Speaker 11: on the field on Sunday, I started groaning. I was like,
- 46:31Speaker 11: what are we doing against all this speed? You're gonna
- 46:34Speaker 11: put three linebackers on the field, Like good luck, you know,
- 46:37Speaker 11: good luck to see any talkie talkie going across the
- 46:40Speaker 11: field with Jalen Waddle Like, I see how that works out.
- 46:43Speaker 3: All right, let's get to the phone calls, because we've
- 46:45Speaker 3: got phone calls coming in, We've got emails coming in.
- 46:48Speaker 3: It's well, it's the day after the game, so people
- 46:51Speaker 3: want to comment. Let's start with Ryan in Maine. What's
- 46:55Speaker 3: up Ryan, Hey.
- 46:57Speaker 13: How's it going guys?
- 46:58Speaker 3: Good?
- 47:01Speaker 14: First time caller, longtime listener.
- 47:03Speaker 12: I just wanted to take in ask a request for
- 47:06Speaker 12: the newsletter.
- 47:07Speaker 3: Well, you have to email, so I'm not gonna I
- 47:10Speaker 3: don't take dictations, so just just just email. Just email
- 47:14Speaker 3: Podcasts at Patres dot com and will automatically put you in.
- 47:18Speaker 12: I meant a suggestion for the newsletter.
- 47:20Speaker 8: My bad.
- 47:20Speaker 3: Oh, I'm sorry, my bad, my bat.
- 47:25Speaker 15: One of the things I.
- 47:25Speaker 12: Always love during the Picks contest is Spread's upset lock
- 47:29Speaker 12: of the week, and I was wondering if there'd be
- 47:32Speaker 12: a way for them to put that in the newsletter
- 47:34Speaker 12: so that we can track it over the season.
- 47:37Speaker 3: See how good the league is okay, I don't have
- 47:41Speaker 3: one every week, but when you.
- 47:42Speaker 4: Do, I will make note of it, and I will
- 47:44Speaker 4: put a little and I will allude to it.
- 47:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I believe I'm fourteen, and oh if I'm not mistaken.
- 47:52Speaker 4: Through twelve weeks, I think I think you're right.
- 47:54Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 47:55Speaker 6: I think you're right fourteen for twelve weeks.
- 47:57Speaker 3: But that's good. That's a good suggestion.
- 47:59Speaker 4: Ryan.
- 47:59Speaker 3: I'm glad. Are you enjoying the newsletter?
- 48:04Speaker 8: Absolutely?
- 48:05Speaker 13: Absolutely?
- 48:06Speaker 15: Anyone who says you, guys, just stop doing the pick
- 48:08Speaker 15: contest can go pound stay it.
- 48:11Speaker 3: Yeah, we have a few of them, but you know,
- 48:13Speaker 3: I agree. It's it's an acquired taste, I guess. But
- 48:16Speaker 3: thanks for the call, Ryan, appreciate it as we all are.
- 48:19Speaker 3: Let's go to Mike and Braintree.
- 48:21Speaker 16: What's up Mike, Hey, guys, thank you for taking my call.
- 48:25Speaker 8: I'm a long time listener.
- 48:26Speaker 16: I think it's my third time calling. I have a
- 48:29Speaker 16: complicated hypothetical question for you.
- 48:31Speaker 7: If you like.
- 48:32Speaker 3: Okay, complicated hypothetic.
- 48:35Speaker 4: Evan's favorite Leicated hypothetical.
- 48:38Speaker 14: Evans one of my favorites.
- 48:39Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 48:41Speaker 16: Yeah, So, what I'm thinking is that for next year,
- 48:45Speaker 16: what if we take all of the financial cap space
- 48:49Speaker 16: that we have and maybe even most of the draft gack,
- 48:52Speaker 16: and we just invested in filling our offensive mind nothing
- 48:56Speaker 16: but probol to every single spot. I want to know,
- 48:59Speaker 16: a how likely do you think this is to happen?
- 49:03Speaker 16: And be do you think this makes us a legitimate
- 49:06Speaker 16: playoff if we would do that and then just retain
- 49:09Speaker 16: the talent that we have So we got you know,
- 49:12Speaker 16: Lemandre Stephenson, all the warning backs, all the receiatons, all
- 49:15Speaker 16: the type that just retooled the offensive point nothing but probos.
- 49:19Speaker 16: Could we do that?
- 49:20Speaker 15: And what would be us?
- 49:22Speaker 3: Okay, all right, thanks thanks Mike, so.
- 49:27Speaker 4: Odds or zero but no, But but I'm dismissing you're
- 49:31Speaker 4: going to acquire five Pro bowlers.
- 49:33Speaker 3: In theoretically, you take all the money that you have
- 49:36Speaker 3: and say, you know what, this year, we're just going
- 49:39Speaker 3: to make sure that we have a good offensive line. Like,
- 49:44Speaker 3: how how much does that improve your team in one year?
- 49:48Speaker 4: Marginally?
- 49:49Speaker 6: If it was, I mean, if it was, you're getting
- 49:52Speaker 6: like you're not just getting Pro Bowl players, they're all
- 49:53Speaker 6: going to play at a Pro Bowl level.
- 49:55Speaker 4: Well, no, you have a good offensive line, but you
- 49:57Speaker 4: did nothing else to improve right, you'd be marginally better.
- 50:01Speaker 4: The offensive line is a problem right now. It's hurting
- 50:03Speaker 4: the offense. There's no question about it. You do not
- 50:06Speaker 4: have playmakers, you do not have a defense. Like you'll
- 50:10Speaker 4: be marginally But if you.
- 50:11Speaker 3: Did this, what if you spent all your money on
- 50:14Speaker 3: offensive line and all your draft picks elsewhere.
- 50:18Speaker 11: I would flip it if it was me, Like I
- 50:21Speaker 11: just this notion that you can just get offensive line
- 50:23Speaker 11: in the veteran market, I'm much doesn't happen, you know,
- 50:26Speaker 11: like it just they don't come available.
- 50:29Speaker 3: But you're talking about the best. What about like you
- 50:31Speaker 3: just make sure that I get veteran guys.
- 50:33Speaker 4: Who are good. But that's what they tried to do
- 50:35Speaker 4: last year, not at left tackle that they tried to
- 50:39Speaker 4: get veteran guys that were just good chookes a corps
- 50:42Speaker 4: for Michael Jordan, Nick Leverett. These were just guys that
- 50:45Speaker 4: were that's what you get in free agency. Like I
- 50:49Speaker 4: agree with Evan, there's a there's a handful of guys
- 50:51Speaker 4: every you know, Joe Toney obviously went from here to
- 50:54Speaker 4: the Kansas City on a big money deal. You see
- 50:57Speaker 4: there's guards that that get big money. Yeah, there aren't
- 51:01Speaker 4: a lot of Orlando Browns, like high end left tackles
- 51:04Speaker 4: that changed, uh change teams in free agency. There are
- 51:08Speaker 4: there are some. I just don't think it's realistic that
- 51:10Speaker 4: you're going to do that with five guys.
- 51:12Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah, I mean I I said at the time
- 51:15Speaker 11: that I would have gone after these guys. So it's
- 51:17Speaker 11: like a little bit I guess what's the word, like
- 51:21Speaker 11: I didn't see coming revisionist history, But go like look
- 51:24Speaker 11: at like Mike mcglinchey's PFF numbers or uh, you know,
- 51:28Speaker 11: Caleb McGarry or any of those guys that were in
- 51:31Speaker 11: that free agency class a couple of years ago that
- 51:33Speaker 11: we all were pounding the table for the Patriots to
- 51:35Speaker 11: go after, and the twenty three free agency all those
- 51:38Speaker 11: guys have been terrible for their new teams. Uh, you
- 51:42Speaker 11: know Jwan Taylor. They can't get that guy out of
- 51:44Speaker 11: Kansas City fast enough. That's the guy I was thinking, Yeah,
- 51:47Speaker 11: like Taylor, they cannot possibly get him out of their
- 51:50Speaker 11: fast enough. You know, like those guys big big contracts
- 51:54Speaker 11: that were flawed players and their teams knew it, so
- 51:57Speaker 11: they let them walk in free agency. You know, you're
- 51:59Speaker 11: not you typically are not going to see.
- 52:03Speaker 4: You know, Robinson could be one of those guys next year.
- 52:05Speaker 4: He's the one who got traded from Jacksonville to Minnesota.
- 52:08Speaker 4: I think he's I think his contract is up, he'll
- 52:10Speaker 4: be He'll be on the market. Yeah, all right, all right, No,
- 52:18Speaker 4: it's a it's a good question. I just think it's
- 52:19Speaker 4: hard to.
- 52:20Speaker 3: Do Riley in North Carolina. What's up? Riley?
- 52:24Speaker 13: Hey?
- 52:25Speaker 14: A rough week after weekend, I should say. But anyways,
- 52:32Speaker 14: I just want to go on a little rant here
- 52:36Speaker 14: because I am tired of these privileged fans and the
- 52:42Speaker 14: negligence of blame that everyone seems to be putting on
- 52:46Speaker 14: Jrod Mail. You know, if you look at the season
- 52:50Speaker 14: and where we are, we obviously have three wins, right,
- 52:52Speaker 14: and we won four last year with arguably the greatest
- 52:57Speaker 14: coaches all time, And obviously, you know, that's why they
- 53:01Speaker 14: decided to part ways with him, because it was just time.
- 53:05Speaker 14: And our entire coaching staff is brand new at their
- 53:09Speaker 14: respective position, and I honestly think that a lot of
- 53:15Speaker 14: the blame should be placed on Elliott Woolf and Bill
- 53:19Speaker 14: Belichick because Bill Belichick obviously was the GM when he
- 53:24Speaker 14: was here, and he neglected to draft high positions of
- 53:31Speaker 14: need for the last several years in the draft, like
- 53:35Speaker 14: left tackle for example, as arguably the largest Sclaring weekness
- 53:40Speaker 14: on the team. And now you transition to Elliott Wolf
- 53:44Speaker 14: becoming you know, the GM. I know he was involved
- 53:48Speaker 14: in kind of those decisions. Ultimately Bill had to end
- 53:51Speaker 14: all sale, and I think that a lot of the
- 53:56Speaker 14: blame should be placed on Elliott Wolf because what did
- 53:59Speaker 14: he do to improve the roster? You know, Bill Belichick
- 54:03Speaker 14: or excuse me, John Mail is in charge of running
- 54:07Speaker 14: the players and making sure that they're doing their jobs properly.
- 54:10Speaker 14: It's not his job to go out and scout talent
- 54:13Speaker 14: and acquire talented players and bring them into the team.
- 54:18Speaker 14: So I'm just stick and tired of all the negative
- 54:22Speaker 14: comments on every post and after every game that we
- 54:27Speaker 14: lose about fire Mayo, fire the entire coaching staff, Like,
- 54:31Speaker 14: just have patience, people. This franchise has been a dumpster
- 54:36Speaker 14: fire for the last half decade. Even when we had
- 54:40Speaker 14: Belichick and Gerrava. Mayo was basically left with the straps
- 54:45Speaker 14: of what Belichick will have and trying to turn the
- 54:49Speaker 14: team around and do the best that he can with
- 54:51Speaker 14: what he had. So there's my rants, that's all I
- 54:55Speaker 14: got and I hope everybody has a great Thanksgiving.
- 54:58Speaker 4: Thanks Juy, Thanks, Thanks you too, Riley.
- 55:00Speaker 3: I mean there's some truth in him what he's saying.
- 55:02Speaker 3: You know, he inherited a mess, similar to what Bill
- 55:06Speaker 3: inherited in two thousand.
- 55:08Speaker 4: No doubt, you know, no doubt he inherited a mess.
- 55:11Speaker 4: I just think that you evaluate everybody on what you've seen.
- 55:16Speaker 3: Yep.
- 55:17Speaker 4: I think that he's absolutely right. They had a lot
- 55:19Speaker 4: of bad drafts that Mike and I have played the
- 55:22Speaker 4: hits on for years. But what have you seen? You know?
- 55:27Speaker 4: So the greatest coach of all time got fired for
- 55:30Speaker 4: winning four games.
- 55:34Speaker 3: Well there was more to it than that, But.
- 55:36Speaker 4: I'm just saying, like he just called in the greatest
- 55:38Speaker 4: coach of all time and even he couldn't win, Yeah,
- 55:40Speaker 4: and he lost his job. So I think you have
- 55:43Speaker 4: to evaluate. Do I think that Gerard Mayo should lose
- 55:45Speaker 4: his job?
- 55:46Speaker 7: No?
- 55:46Speaker 4: I don't. I think that you decided to go in
- 55:49Speaker 4: this direction. This is what you how you wanted to
- 55:52Speaker 4: you know, ford your path going forward? You need to
- 55:54Speaker 4: see it through. You don't do that after twelve months.
- 55:56Speaker 3: The Patriot's Unfiltered TV show, you'll hear what I have
- 55:59Speaker 3: to say about this particular situation.
- 56:01Speaker 4: That's good. That's a good tease. You know, big, big
- 56:04Speaker 4: market Tea's right there by Freddy. Yeah, I like that.
- 56:07Speaker 4: I'm just saying, like, you need to evaluate what you see.
- 56:09Speaker 4: If people looking at the same mistakes that we saw
- 56:12Speaker 4: in the summer happened on Sunday with false start after
- 56:15Speaker 4: false start, someone's got to talk about that.
- 56:18Speaker 3: And you know, big decisions are going to have to
- 56:21Speaker 3: be made by Gerard Mayo, Elliott Wolf, and Robert Kraft, right,
- 56:24Speaker 3: and each from their own perspective.
- 56:27Speaker 4: And again I'm not advocating for John Madle lose his job.
- 56:29Speaker 4: He should not lose his job. His job is. I
- 56:32Speaker 4: know it's not in jeopardy anyway, but he should It
- 56:34Speaker 4: shouldn't be.
- 56:34Speaker 3: He shouldn't. He shouldn't. But I think everything else is
- 56:37Speaker 3: on the table, I really do, yes, Like who are
- 56:40Speaker 3: the people around you? Around? And we don't have. The
- 56:43Speaker 3: frustrating thing about this for us is we are not
- 56:47Speaker 3: privy to the information that everyone else has. I have
- 56:50Speaker 3: no idea if Scott Peters is a good offensive line coach.
- 56:53Speaker 3: I hope he is. But if he isn't, that's something
- 56:57Speaker 3: you need to address. I don't know if Tyler Hughes
- 57:00Speaker 3: is a good wide receiver coach. I hope he is,
- 57:02Speaker 3: But if he's not, that's a tough decision you're gonna
- 57:05Speaker 3: have to make, and all the way down the line
- 57:07Speaker 3: with every position coach, you know, because in football, coaching
- 57:11Speaker 3: does matter. It's not baseball. It's not basketball.
- 57:15Speaker 4: He's taking shots at baseball.
- 57:16Speaker 3: No, but but you know what I mean coaching in
- 57:19Speaker 3: football is it really does make It does make a difference.
- 57:24Speaker 11: You just look at you know, they're when they go
- 57:26Speaker 11: into these games and I just feel myself asking a lot,
- 57:30Speaker 11: you know, what was where are the details and like
- 57:33Speaker 11: what was the plan to handle certain things? You know,
- 57:36Speaker 11: like on Sunday, everybody's picking on the offensive line for
- 57:39Speaker 11: all the penalties and it's it's understandable, but when the
- 57:42Speaker 11: ball was actually snapped, you know, and they weren't false starting,
- 57:45Speaker 11: you know, they're just blitzing Drake and they're making him hot.
- 57:48Speaker 11: I mean he said it at the press conference this morning,
- 57:50Speaker 11: like that's what teams are doing against him. If they
- 57:53Speaker 11: keep on blitzing him and they keep on doing that, Okay,
- 57:55Speaker 11: how are we going to beat that?
- 57:57Speaker 14: Like?
- 57:57Speaker 11: What is the plan to throw hot into this blitz,
- 58:01Speaker 11: and where are the receivers supposed to go? Where is
- 58:03Speaker 11: Drake supposed to go with the football? On Sunday, it
- 58:06Speaker 11: felt like there were times where he was looking around
- 58:09Speaker 11: like I don't know where I'm supposed to go with
- 58:11Speaker 11: this thing. And then it's stripsack, it's interception, it's sack.
- 58:14Speaker 11: You know, it's whatever, and it's like, those are the
- 58:17Speaker 11: types of things that it come back to. Coaching for
- 58:20Speaker 11: me is like what is the plan if they come
- 58:24Speaker 11: out and they blitz him fifteen times in a game?
- 58:27Speaker 11: You know, the rams s blitz them a lot, and
- 58:29Speaker 11: they seem to have a pretty good plan of how
- 58:31Speaker 11: to handle it. They were anticipating that that was gonna happen.
- 58:34Speaker 11: My read on it is I don't think they anticipated
- 58:36Speaker 11: Miami being as aggressive as they were defensively.
- 58:39Speaker 10: You know that took that.
- 58:40Speaker 3: But like you said, you have to be able to
- 58:42Speaker 3: adjust in game. You have to as Andy Hart would say,
- 58:45Speaker 3: once the game declares itself, you have to adjust.
- 58:49Speaker 11: Yeah, Like they're just sending field pressure, like Nickel Blitz's
- 58:52Speaker 11: just add Drake all the time. And it's like, eventually,
- 58:55Speaker 11: if you start to see those coming and you have
- 58:58Speaker 11: a beater ready, and you hit a few of those,
- 59:00Speaker 11: they're gonna stop sending pressure from the field because you're
- 59:03Speaker 11: gonna carve them up on it, as like Matthew Stafford
- 59:05Speaker 11: did when the Patriots splits them a ton.
- 59:07Speaker 10: So those are big months.
- 59:09Speaker 4: A very specific play not necessarily related to what we're
- 59:12Speaker 4: talking about. But there was a third down that Douglas
- 59:17Speaker 4: was coming. You know, it looked like he's coming across
- 59:20Speaker 4: on an in cut yep. Looked like Drake threw it
- 59:23Speaker 4: behind him, like maybe expecting him to go maybe upfield
- 59:26Speaker 4: or sit in the zone. Maybe. I don't know, you guys,
- 59:30Speaker 4: you know you experts, right, would you guys? See?
- 59:34Speaker 11: So I asked around about that play today and asked
- 59:37Speaker 11: around a little bit about this this morning because it
- 59:40Speaker 11: was something that I noticed on the film was the
- 59:42Speaker 11: most egregious thing from an actual execution standpoint, was their
- 59:46Speaker 11: handling or lack thereof, of the blitz. And in this offense,
- 59:50Speaker 11: this is not a sight adjust the offense. So like
- 59:53Speaker 11: when they send pressure in the old offense, then Pop
- 59:56Speaker 11: Douglas would have an adjustment to his route to combat
- 1:00:00Speaker 11: the pressure, like he might sit in that instance right
- 1:00:02Speaker 11: in the void of space, left by the blitz. In
- 1:00:05Speaker 11: this offense, they have a designated hot route within the
- 1:00:08Speaker 11: concept that when they send pressure, Drake is supposed to
- 1:00:11Speaker 11: throw to.
- 1:00:11Speaker 10: The hot route.
- 1:00:12Speaker 11: But the hot route is a locked route. So Pop
- 1:00:14Speaker 11: Douglas on that play is running a slant. He has
- 1:00:17Speaker 11: a slant. It doesn't become a you know, a spot
- 1:00:21Speaker 11: or a curl or whatever just because it's a blitz.
- 1:00:23Speaker 11: A slant's a slant, right, So if he's hot on
- 1:00:26Speaker 11: that play, which he was, then he's got to hit
- 1:00:29Speaker 11: the slant over the middle of the field. And that's
- 1:00:31Speaker 11: exactly what Drake said after the game. He said, I
- 1:00:33Speaker 11: missed the throw, you know, And I think those are
- 1:00:35Speaker 11: the types of things that I'm adjusting, and we all
- 1:00:38Speaker 11: have to adjust within this offense. This isn't the old
- 1:00:41Speaker 11: offense where they had all these sight adjustments and route
- 1:00:43Speaker 11: conversions and options and things like that. This is a
- 1:00:46Speaker 11: different kind of offense that they run now.
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: And I just know that based on you know, a
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: couple of months here, Drake's gonna take responsibilities. That doesn't
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: necessarily mean it was on him, sure, I think he's
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: sort of established himself as a guy that's gonna take
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: responsibility when things go bad. So I was just curious.
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: But you're mean it's not easy? But what what is easy?

- 1:03:50Speaker 19: Marian Marian.
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: Look.
- 1:03:55Speaker 19: Yesterday, the NFL removed Jabril from the commissioners exemp list.
- 1:04:00Speaker 19: He's on the roster. We had an open spot and
- 1:04:03Speaker 19: fully anticipate him being able to practice soon. The Colts looks.
- 1:04:08Speaker 4: It's gonna be a huge challenge for us.
- 1:04:10Speaker 19: I would say defensively, this is one of the better fronts,
- 1:04:13Speaker 19: more disruptive fronts that we have faced this year. We've
- 1:04:17Speaker 19: got to do a good job handling the front. Starts
- 1:04:19Speaker 19: with Buckner, who's been a guy who's played really at
- 1:04:21Speaker 19: a high level for a very long time. Go to
- 1:04:23Speaker 19: the second level. You have Franklin back there, and a
- 1:04:26Speaker 19: third level more and the rest of those guys they're
- 1:04:28Speaker 19: definitely very good players and they have a very good defense.
- 1:04:32Speaker 19: I would say offensively, you know, Taylor, he's a problem.
- 1:04:36Speaker 19: We have to try to, you know, go out there
- 1:04:37Speaker 19: and really bottle him up. I think one thing about him,
- 1:04:40Speaker 19: he probably doesn't get the hype that he deserves. But
- 1:04:42Speaker 19: at the same time, he's a very explosive player and
- 1:04:45Speaker 19: a very fast player out there on the field, and
- 1:04:47Speaker 19: it all really runs through him. And saying that, they
- 1:04:50Speaker 19: definitely have a big arm quarterback, So having a guy
- 1:04:53Speaker 19: like Joe Milton to run the quarterback for the show
- 1:04:56Speaker 19: team is definitely gonna be good for us. You know,
- 1:04:59Speaker 19: they have good receivers, and I think it starts with Pittman.
- 1:05:01Speaker 19: He's one of those guys that is able to do
- 1:05:03Speaker 19: to do the dirty work, doesn't shy away from blocking people,
- 1:05:09Speaker 19: and at the same time he does a good job
- 1:05:11Speaker 19: catching balls over the middle of the field. He's really
- 1:05:14Speaker 19: really a fearless guy. Look, they're dealing with some injuries.
- 1:05:16Speaker 19: We'll see what happens, but we're gonna prepare us if
- 1:05:18Speaker 19: all those guys are are healthy. You know, when you
- 1:05:20Speaker 19: talk about downs, you talk about the tackles, like all
- 1:05:22Speaker 19: that stuff. We're gonna prepare us if they're healthy. And now,
- 1:05:25Speaker 19: like I told the team, it's about us, It's about us.
- 1:05:27Speaker 19: And Wednesdays, like you know, days like this, I should say,
- 1:05:31Speaker 19: we always talk about changing the page. This is a
- 1:05:33Speaker 19: Wednesday in my world. Uh, we talk about changing the page.
- 1:05:36Speaker 19: And really our full focus, UH is definitely on the
- 1:05:40Speaker 19: colts have an opportunity to come back home, which is
- 1:05:42Speaker 19: always good and it's good to to try to get
- 1:05:45Speaker 19: this thing back on track with uh.
- 1:05:49Speaker 16: Jabrill.
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: You obviously referred to the NFL for so long.
- 1:05:53Speaker 6: Now now that that's off, what's kind of you have
- 1:05:55Speaker 6: a timetable in your mind and you have just fit
- 1:05:57Speaker 6: him playing again.
- 1:05:58Speaker 5: For you the seasons.
- 1:05:59Speaker 19: Look, we put out you know, we put the statement
- 1:06:01Speaker 19: out yesterday from an organizational standpoint of how we you know,
- 1:06:05Speaker 19: how we want to let this process work itself out. Look,
- 1:06:08Speaker 19: when Pep is ready to go, hopefully we can we
- 1:06:11Speaker 19: can get him to again.
- 1:06:13Speaker 7: Sure, does that mean I mean he has a trial
- 1:06:16Speaker 7: day in January? Does that mean you're not waiting for
- 1:06:21Speaker 7: trial his pace to resolve?
- 1:06:24Speaker 19: To me, I think it's it's just out of respect
- 1:06:26Speaker 19: of you know, for the legal process to let that
- 1:06:28Speaker 19: stuff play out. You know, for us inside these these
- 1:06:31Speaker 19: four walls. Look, as long as he's doing the right thing,
- 1:06:34Speaker 19: I expect him to come to be able to play
- 1:06:36Speaker 19: when he's ready to go.
- 1:06:38Speaker 9: Drog who is all involved in the decision now that
- 1:06:42Speaker 9: Gabrilla has been reinstated for him to practice and play
- 1:06:45Speaker 9: given this now and or the organization's.
- 1:06:46Speaker 19: Power the decision, Yeah, you know, I would. It's a
- 1:06:49Speaker 19: combination of things. And again I'm grateful for you know
- 1:06:52Speaker 19: how ownership has allowed Elliott myself to make these type
- 1:06:55Speaker 19: of types of decisions. You know, we'll see what this
- 1:06:58Speaker 19: looks like as it continues to play out. But like
- 1:07:00Speaker 19: I said, you know, our focus is on the Colts.
- 1:07:03Speaker 7: Said back in our ober, I believe when this first
- 1:07:07Speaker 7: happened that it would be some kind of internal investigation.
- 1:07:14Speaker 10: Has something been satisfied.
- 1:07:16Speaker 7: From that investigation?
- 1:07:18Speaker 19: Yeah, I mean, look, I fully understand the question, and look,
- 1:07:21Speaker 19: the process has to I mean it's going to take time,
- 1:07:23Speaker 19: you know, the legal process out the building and you
- 1:07:26Speaker 19: know what we think happened inside the building. But at
- 1:07:28Speaker 19: the same time, the NFL has you know, taking them
- 1:07:31Speaker 19: off of that Commissioner's exemplest, and that's what we have
- 1:07:33Speaker 19: to roll with.
- 1:07:35Speaker 14: Evenicipate getting that a kid will wants about.
- 1:07:37Speaker 19: His practice is for him, he's close. I mean, it's
- 1:07:39Speaker 19: kind of the same conversation that we had with, you know,
- 1:07:42Speaker 19: with bar Moore and the strange of the world. Like
- 1:07:44Speaker 19: he's getting closer and closer, and again, once he's ready
- 1:07:47Speaker 19: to go, he'll go out there and hopefully help our
- 1:07:49Speaker 19: football team some more.
- 1:07:51Speaker 14: Question on Peppers. Has he addressed the team as a group?
- 1:07:54Speaker 7: Will he do.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: Something like that or is this just sort of he
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: arrives and he just takes over back where he was.
- 1:07:59Speaker 19: I kind of want to, you know, just keep private
- 1:08:01Speaker 19: conversations private. Look, he has a good relationship with everyone
- 1:08:05Speaker 19: in this organization, and we'll just keep all that.
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: Stuff in house.
- 1:08:09Speaker 19: Will still be cappity, We'll keep that conversation in the
- 1:08:12Speaker 19: house as well.
- 1:08:15Speaker 17: This is the building today to the league, explain to
- 1:08:17Speaker 17: you why he was removed from the exemplus.
- 1:08:20Speaker 19: When he was Look, I'm not in those conversations. For me,
- 1:08:23Speaker 19: it's been about really just trying to get this team
- 1:08:26Speaker 19: ready to play a big game for us because it's
- 1:08:28Speaker 19: the next game.
- 1:08:29Speaker 10: Seeking over it depends a play, find something that.
- 1:08:31Speaker 14: You'd be open to.
- 1:08:34Speaker 19: No, look, I'm not the Marcus is doing a good job.
- 1:08:37Speaker 19: As far as calling plays, it comes down to, you know,
- 1:08:39Speaker 19: executing what what play is called a disappointed where.
- 1:08:44Speaker 14: You with the myscife not for looking on it.
- 1:08:46Speaker 19: The miscommunications in the secondary from a lot of guys
- 1:08:50Speaker 19: that have played together before. Yeah, very very disappointing, especially
- 1:08:53Speaker 19: in critical moments. But the communication has to be better
- 1:08:56Speaker 19: at the second level and at third level. It was
- 1:08:58Speaker 19: very disappointing, especially in the red area. And look, we
- 1:09:00Speaker 19: just have to get better go off of that with Kyle.
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: Darker and some of the missteps. Maybe Sunday is any
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: of that time to.
- 1:09:06Speaker 14: The ankle injury?
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: Is that kind of completely independent of that to me?
- 1:09:10Speaker 19: You know, anytime we put a player out there, he's
- 1:09:11Speaker 19: healthy enough to play, and if you're healthy enough to play,
- 1:09:14Speaker 19: then the expectation that you're going to perform at a
- 1:09:16Speaker 19: high level.
- 1:09:17Speaker 14: Coach, it's not a year to year about the rookie wall.
- 1:09:20Speaker 7: Did you addressed that with the guys or did you
- 1:09:21Speaker 7: just sort of, you know, cross that bridge when the
- 1:09:24Speaker 7: tech him.
- 1:09:25Speaker 19: You know, I don't really believe in the rookie wall,
- 1:09:27Speaker 19: and I don't believe that it happens, you know, in
- 1:09:29Speaker 19: a certain week. There are certain times throughout the season
- 1:09:32Speaker 19: that you know, you have your ups and downs and
- 1:09:33Speaker 19: you just have to have the mental toughness to be
- 1:09:35Speaker 19: able to push through.
- 1:09:39Speaker 10: And now great moments in.
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: History.
- 1:09:44Speaker 10: PS.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: I was hoping you guys could send me some good luck.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: I'm a writer in progress and have just sent off
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: a submission that, if accepted, may get me my first novel.
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: Keep your fingers crossed for me. Well, we will absolutely
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: know what you're going through. Claire, Claire from Westman.
- 1:09:59Speaker 10: You don't know what she's going through.
- 1:10:00Speaker 14: I do.
- 1:10:01Speaker 6: I'm trying to get a book published.
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: I know what that is.
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: It sounds like she sent it off. It's like in
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: this works.
- 1:10:07Speaker 10: No, she said she's sent it off, like she's trying
- 1:10:09Speaker 10: to get it published. Well, unless I'm misunderstanding what she's saying.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: Yeah, well she's hers is finished.
- 1:10:15Speaker 6: Yes, so's mine.
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: It is why I'm trying to get it published.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: The Africa one. Yes, it's a long time ago.
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: Right, that's another great moment.

- 1:10:50Speaker 10: Just let that go right down.
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: Oh, yes, us writers, we're in the same boat.

- 1:11:19Speaker 3: haven't we heard from Robert Kraft regarding the state of things?
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: Is it just too terrible and no way or anything
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: positive to come from that? Things are just terrible and
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: I feel like we're desperate for some leadership. You don't
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: want to hear from the owner right now? You know,
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: there's nothing the owner should be saying right now. The
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: next time I want to hear from the owner is
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: opening up the wallet in the off season. That's that's
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: the only thing I want to hear from the owner.
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: You don't.
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: How do you think we typically hear from Robert Kraft?
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: And forget about it. In any sport, pro sport, any odor,
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: they let the people that you hired to do the
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: job do the job. Don't interject at this point, it's
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: just gonna make things worse because everyone's gonna read into it.
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: What does he mean, who's he gonna fire? What does
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: that mean? Just here's here's what owners should do. They
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: should hire the head coach or GM and they should
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: pay for things when they're asked for it. You know,
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: that's their job.
- 1:12:17Speaker 11: That's their job, and my time covering the team other
- 1:12:20Speaker 11: than appearances like on NFL Network or something like that,
- 1:12:24Speaker 11: like in Germany a couple of years ago. Uh, Robert
- 1:12:27Speaker 11: Craft has never spoken during the season, not a single
- 1:12:30Speaker 11: time since twenty eighteen. Has he had a press conference
- 1:12:33Speaker 11: in season? Owners meetings always And that's that's pretty much it.
- 1:12:40Speaker 11: Like in terms of formal this is a press.
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: Conference events where he'll appear, you know, when he does,
- 1:12:47Speaker 4: like the the community MVPs, things like that, some charitable
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: endeavors and sometimes if there's media there he'll make himself available.
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: But I agree with Evan. I don't think they're like
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: formal press conferences with Robert Craft during the season. I
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: don't think that's something he's.
- 1:13:01Speaker 11: Ever Listen, that's a good times and you know that
- 1:13:04Speaker 11: eighteen they won the Super Bowl and he did good
- 1:13:06Speaker 11: times in I.
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: Mean, if you're in Dallas and Jerry Jones is also
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: the general manager. Okay, so he's talking after every game.
- 1:13:13Speaker 4: But that's that's the way Jones has always done it.
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: So if he stopped doing it, that to me would
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: be a departure from the norm. And I think if
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: he if all of a sudden, Robert Craft started to
- 1:13:23Speaker 4: do it, that would be a departure from the norm.
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: Yeah, Trevor and Revere writes in I understand social media
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: generally represents the loud minority, but I feel as though
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: there are too many calls for Mayo, AVP and Covington
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: to be fired. I understand the team hasn't performed well
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: and some of the mistakes can be attributed to coaching,
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: but nothing grinds my gears more than attributing every single
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: bad play to the scheme. Sometimes the players just aren't
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: good enough, and we have a poor roster. Do you
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: see any scenario of a change in the head coach,
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: OC or DC next year outside of something egregious happening.
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: I feel the same as I do with QBS. By
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: the middle of the second year, you'll have a pretty
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: good sense of who they are. And I have no
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: interest in being the kind of team that goes through
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: coaches as quick as Paul goes through DIETPEPSI.
- 1:14:11Speaker 6: It goes for me back to our point about this
- 1:14:13Speaker 6: game this weekend, and I just I wonder if they
- 1:14:17Speaker 6: lose these last five games and they don't really show anything,
- 1:14:20Speaker 6: I just I don't know who, but I feel like
- 1:14:23Speaker 6: a change, even if it's ceremonial, but some kind of
- 1:14:27Speaker 6: change will have to happen if they If they squeak
- 1:14:29Speaker 6: out this year. These last five games, you don't see
- 1:14:32Speaker 6: any progress. They're turning them ball the same thing we
- 1:14:34Speaker 6: saw last weekend in some you know, different form these
- 1:14:36Speaker 6: last five games. And I don't want to put too
- 1:14:38Speaker 6: much on it, but I think they need to show
- 1:14:41Speaker 6: something where there isn't some kind of change. I don't
- 1:14:44Speaker 6: think that's Mayo, but is.
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: I don't understand why people aren't allowed to evaluate what
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: they see like, I don't know why that grinds people's gears.
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: You know, I don't think Drid Mayo should be fired.
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: I said that earlier in the show. I'll say it again.
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: But why can you not look at how they play
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: and say, geez, I don't think the offensive coordinator is
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: the right guy, or I don't think the defensive coordinator
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: is the right guy. Why why you're not allowed to
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: do that?
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: Well, of course you're allowed to do that, but.
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: That's grinding people's gears. We had a call earlier that
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: said that he had a rant about it. Now we're
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: getting an email and I'm not criticizing these people. That's
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: how they feel. But I don't understand why if you
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: think a.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: Guy that you like, the cult should fire Chris Ballad.
- 1:15:25Speaker 4: I don't know enough about their personnel, But on the
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: surface I would say no.
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: They're all saying that.
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: On the surface, I would say no because I think
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: they have a reasonably talented roster, right, But I don't
- 1:15:35Speaker 4: know enough about it. Maybe they have a lot of
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: holes that he hasn't filled. You know, maybe he should.
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: But my only point is if you decide if you're
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: watching a guy and you don't think he's the right guy.
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: I don't care if he's in year one or year four,
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: It doesn't matter to me. I don't think he's the
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: right guy, and I don't think that's unfair to say
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: that he should be.
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: A valued I think some of the time, some of
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: the time, you know, like you don't think he's the
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: right guy, just because you're losing games and you want
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: to blame somebody. And it's I understand where for some
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: people after, you know, when you're in year one of
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: this new regime, for already to be calling for people
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: to be fired is a little bit so.
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: But that's how you and I feel. Yeah, but that
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: doesn't mean we're right.
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: No, it doesn't mean we're right. But I can understand
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: why some people would be frustrated with that, Like, you know, like.
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: I don't understand why I would bother people to that extent.
- 1:16:28Speaker 11: It's just like every game becomes a referendum on the
- 1:16:31Speaker 11: coaching staff, on the operation, and it's you know, you
- 1:16:35Speaker 11: gotta look at it as a totality and deduce his point,
- 1:16:38Speaker 11: like if there isn't an upward trajectory here in some
- 1:16:41Speaker 11: areas of the time, that's all I'm saying, then they have,
- 1:16:43Speaker 11: but we let's wait and see what it looks like.
- 1:16:45Speaker 11: But you know, in January asked me again, right like,
- 1:16:47Speaker 11: I don't think right now making that declaration.
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: And I wish I wish we could be at practice
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: up and close and personal. I wish I could be there.
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: I wish I could hear how these position coaches are
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: coaching these players and what Gerard is saying during practice,
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: and so I could say, you know, these guys are
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: being coached up well, how do you know, like because
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: I can see it and hear it.
- 1:17:09Speaker 4: Like I'll give you Evan like he's obviously studies some
- 1:17:12Speaker 4: of his stuff, but you don't know if the what
- 1:17:15Speaker 4: he's what they're being told is the right thing.
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: Well, I mean you can you. I mean, like if
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: you're sitting on the meetings and have all the information,
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: you can say, wow.
- 1:17:23Speaker 10: You know yeah.
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: I mean I don't bogged down in that. But I
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: just feel like there's two there's two camps, and they're
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: so far apart. It's almost like politics, like there's no
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: room for anything wants, there's no room for any context
- 1:17:41Speaker 4: for anything.
- 1:17:42Speaker 14: You know.
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: One of the things that's really bothering me about the
- 1:17:44Speaker 4: criticism that Mayo was getting. Is this thing that Ben
- 1:17:47Speaker 4: Voleen has been on a lot like it continued to
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: coach scared? So not every time you don't go for
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: a fourth down means you're scared, right, Like, do we
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: really think it was like a like a black mark
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: on the coaching resume to come out in the first
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: drive of the game and face a fourth and one
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: from your own thirty nine yard line and not go
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: for it, Right, maybe you have some faith, Like why
- 1:18:09Speaker 4: is that coaching scared? What John Harbaugh did last night
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: was to me borderline astounding at the end of the
- 1:18:16Speaker 4: first half going for a fourth inches from your own
- 1:18:19Speaker 4: sixteen yard line. It was like the first time in
- 1:18:22Speaker 4: like thirty years that someone did that in the first
- 1:18:24Speaker 4: half of it game that close to their own goal.
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: That was me going against my brother.
- 1:18:28Speaker 4: Like, I'm not telling you it was the wrong move,
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: but I think it was dumb. I think it was
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: flat out dumb in a just a wild risk to
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: take in a ten to seven game.
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: It worked.
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: It couldn't have worked any better. Not only they converted,
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: they went down and scored a touchdown.
- 1:18:44Speaker 10: Right, helps him?
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: You have the MVP at quarterback.
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: Oh, I mean they got it by this much by
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: giving them allowing the tight end to keep the ball.
- 1:18:51Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:18:51Speaker 11: No, I just meant the throat of a shot bateman
- 1:18:53Speaker 11: at the end of the drive.
- 1:18:54Speaker 4: Yeah, But I mean I mean the big player, to
- 1:18:56Speaker 4: be honest, the big play in that drive was a Flowers.
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: Like they weren't going to get any points, they were
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: just running out the clock, and all of a sudden
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: he picked up twenty five extra yards with just a
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: tremendous run after the catch. But if that means like
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: he's not scared, so that's a great thing. That was
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: a reckless, wild thing to do, right. I don't want
- 1:19:16Speaker 4: my coach going.
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: For a fourth and one from his own sixty something
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: like that and it didn't work. You'd be calling him
- 1:19:21Speaker 3: an idiot, right, you know, so like you can't win.
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: I just don't understand. And why not going for a
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: fourth and one on the on your own thirty nine
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: yard line on the first drive, first possession of the game,
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: means you're scared.
- 1:19:33Speaker 6: I didn't even realize people criticizing them for that.
- 1:19:34Speaker 11: Well, the other one that people aren't ben the other
- 1:19:38Speaker 11: one that you heard a lot on Sunday and it
- 1:19:40Speaker 11: was about the third and sixteen run to set up
- 1:19:43Speaker 11: the field goal, which I didn't like, which in theory,
- 1:19:46Speaker 11: like you know, you probably hope that you're going to
- 1:19:48Speaker 11: get I think they got four yards on it or
- 1:19:50Speaker 11: something like that. But it's also like in nowadays, a
- 1:19:53Speaker 11: forty five yard field goal in good condition.
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: That's why I didn't like it.
- 1:19:57Speaker 10: That should be money in the bank, right, I don't.
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: I don't need to have my field goal improved from
- 1:20:02Speaker 4: forty eight yards yeah like that. Now if it's fifty eight,
- 1:20:06Speaker 4: if they were ten yards back and they ran the
- 1:20:08Speaker 4: same play on third and sixteen, I'd have no issue.
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: But to me, it's already what Evan said. I'm going
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: to make a forty eight yard field goal over eighty
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: percent of the time in this league. I got to
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: make that field goal. I don't need to worry about
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: let's let's let's run the ball, make it a little
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: bit easier as on that and try to go for something,
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: try to make a play.
- 1:20:27Speaker 11: Yeah, I do wonder if they're worried about a sack
- 1:20:29Speaker 11: and going backwards out of field goal range. But I
- 1:20:32Speaker 11: just I wrote it in the mail bag today that
- 1:20:35Speaker 11: Girodd said when they hired the coordinators that he might
- 1:20:38Speaker 11: not get all of the hires right the first time through.
- 1:20:42Speaker 11: I thought that was really surprising at the time. I know,
- 1:20:44Speaker 11: I'm sure we talked about it at the time, but
- 1:20:47Speaker 11: you know, he said it himself.
- 1:20:48Speaker 10: So be true to that.
- 1:20:49Speaker 11: If you're seeing something, whether it's at the coordinator level
- 1:20:53Speaker 11: or the position coach level, that you don't think is
- 1:20:55Speaker 11: working or you don't think that's right.
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: Point, Like, if you don't think it's right, why can
- 1:20:59Speaker 4: you not say that? Like why does that have to
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: grind everyone's.
- 1:21:02Speaker 10: Key, right?
- 1:21:02Speaker 11: I mean, like and he only he knows the really
- 1:21:04Speaker 11: the answer to that, Like, I don't even think any
- 1:21:06Speaker 11: of us are in a position to know if the
- 1:21:08Speaker 11: you know, the linebackers coach or the safety's coach, and
- 1:21:11Speaker 11: I'm not talking about those guys specifically, but just in general,
- 1:21:14Speaker 11: are doing the right job. You know, only Girod can
- 1:21:17Speaker 11: really tell you that for sure. And don't be so
- 1:21:21Speaker 11: loyal to the Belichick holdovers, Like if you don't think
- 1:21:25Speaker 11: Marcus Covington's doing a good job coordinating the defense, then
- 1:21:29Speaker 11: hire somebody else, Like, don't just because he's been here
- 1:21:33Speaker 11: and he's you know, one of your guys with Bill
- 1:21:35Speaker 11: and all that kind of stuff that shouldn't.
- 1:21:37Speaker 10: Have any hold on what they do moving forward.
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: It's in a very important offseason. Tom in England writes
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: in as we turn the page to this week's game,
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: please see my list of complaints and gripes from this
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: past Sunday's game. Gonzales blitzing fills me with rage every
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: time I see it. Coach Mayo needs to stop saying
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: it starts with me, and every press conference is just
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: infuriating as he doesn't actually do anything afterwards. The will
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: Levis Mayonnaise commercial is cringeworthy, the Brock Proty Paw patrol
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: commercial is adorable, and finally, Mike but Daniel's wearing shades
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: on the sideline fills me with disgust every time I
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: see it. The man is a tool. I would pay
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: the Dolphins whatever they ask for to have him coach
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: the Patriots. So I think he's being funny there.
- 1:22:24Speaker 6: Yeah, I think he's a tool, but he he still.
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: Wants him right, Yeah.
- 1:22:27Speaker 4: I think he thinks he's a tool, but he thinks
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: he's a good coach.
- 1:22:29Speaker 11: I love how the one time that Christian Gonzales plits
- 1:22:32Speaker 11: on Sunday, Really that was number one on the list,
- 1:22:36Speaker 11: but it's the one time in the game and we
- 1:22:37Speaker 11: can't have that.
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't have any problem with sending cornerback blitzes.
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: I mean, I know his point is not Gonzales, make
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: it someone else who's not as valuable in coverage, but.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: Cares El from Wisconsin. Paul's gonna disagree with you a little.
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: I think that's okay.
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: I'm still so angry about that draw on third and sixteen.
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: You're a team who's strugg Maybe he's agreeing. You're a
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: team who struggles on offense and you just give up
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: and go for a long field goal on a drive
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: you actually somehow move it. I'm glad they missed. Scared
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: loser coaching doesn't deserve to get rewarded.
- 1:23:11Speaker 4: I didn't like the call. I said it to Mike
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: at the time. I was like, you know, and there
- 1:23:14Speaker 4: was another one that they had a third and long
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: later and they max protected. Evan will probably remember exactly
- 1:23:22Speaker 4: to play, and I remember they had seven guys, so
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: they only guys, And I was like, if you're gonna
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: do that, just run the ball. If you're going to
- 1:23:30Speaker 4: give up, Like, we can't protect him, so we can't
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: throw it. We're gonna just keep everybody in So then
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: just run the ball and get off the field and punt.
- 1:23:38Speaker 10: Yeah, that one was weird.
- 1:23:40Speaker 11: Like, I just there's so many instances in this game,
- 1:23:43Speaker 11: and I didn't really feel this way last week against
- 1:23:46Speaker 11: the Rams. So I think that's such a just to
- 1:23:48Speaker 11: see this happening.
- 1:23:49Speaker 4: Why maybe it's coming on the heels of what I
- 1:23:51Speaker 4: thought was the best offense.
- 1:23:52Speaker 10: Yeah, just like in such a in one week to
- 1:23:54Speaker 10: just have it go that way.
- 1:23:55Speaker 11: But you know, there's so many instances on this film
- 1:23:58Speaker 11: where I was like, if I'm playing quarterback, like where
- 1:24:00Speaker 11: am I going with the ball? And it's not just
- 1:24:02Speaker 11: because guys are getting not getting open, it's just like
- 1:24:04Speaker 11: the design of the play.
- 1:24:06Speaker 10: It's just like you know, where where would you if
- 1:24:09Speaker 10: you're playing QB.
- 1:24:10Speaker 11: You know, the thing that you want is just answers,
- 1:24:12Speaker 11: Like you don't want to be back there tentative and
- 1:24:16Speaker 11: uncertain and all that type of stuff. You just want
- 1:24:19Speaker 11: to have answers to the different problems that the defense
- 1:24:22Speaker 11: presents that you whether it's coverage, it splits, it's whatever.
- 1:24:25Speaker 11: And in this game, it just looked so often like
- 1:24:27Speaker 11: Drake just said no, answers on plays like that play
- 1:24:31Speaker 11: was one that stood out.
- 1:24:32Speaker 10: To me too.
- 1:24:33Speaker 11: Or it's just like there's three guys running basically like
- 1:24:36Speaker 11: three vertical routes down the field on third and sixteen.
- 1:24:38Speaker 11: There's no check down, there's nothing to be seen underneath
- 1:24:42Speaker 11: the defense, and he's just standing back there and he'd
- 1:24:44Speaker 11: gets sacked like it's just what he's wanted to do.
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: Alyssa from France right sin Mike said not to play
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: his locker room song at the beginning of the podcast,
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: but I always like to hear it. Don't let him
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: choose to skip it. Also, could it be worth giving
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: Javon Baker a try now? Sunday's loss was so painful,
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: I'd almost be willing to try anything new.
- 1:25:04Speaker 6: They're giving him a little I mean a little bit.
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: I mean it's not a lot, but I think in
- 1:25:07Speaker 6: their way, they're giving him a chance right now.
- 1:25:09Speaker 4: I this is We talked about this in the postgame
- 1:25:11Speaker 4: show a little Freddy, Like, does anybody really think Javon
- 1:25:17Speaker 4: Baker was burning it up at practice and just not
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: getting a chance.
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: No, I have no idea.
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: Like Kayshawn Booty was inactive to start the year, now
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: plays a regular significant role almost every every week if
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: you're doing it on the practice field and you're earning
- 1:25:33Speaker 4: playing time one, So is he the one guy that
- 1:25:37Speaker 4: you just have something out they have something against, Like,
- 1:25:40Speaker 4: I just can't imagine that he's doing all the things
- 1:25:43Speaker 4: that he needs to do in practice and they're saying,
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: you know what, I don't care you're playing well in practice,
- 1:25:47Speaker 4: You're not gonna play.
- 1:25:48Speaker 6: It's just part of where we're running out of people
- 1:25:50Speaker 6: to turn to and those like.
- 1:25:51Speaker 4: It's always the guy who I haven't seen him, So
- 1:25:54Speaker 4: it's always the you know, just aren't those uncovered gem.
- 1:25:57Speaker 10: Yeah, I don't necessarily.
- 1:25:58Speaker 11: Think that Javon Baker has done anything to earn what
- 1:26:01Speaker 11: I'm about to say. But Kaishan Bouti is out there
- 1:26:04Speaker 11: running thirty four routes the most of any player on
- 1:26:06Speaker 11: the team, and he is running sprints out there not
- 1:26:09Speaker 11: getting open Like, oh.
- 1:26:11Speaker 4: There's just absolutely whole different argument whether or no he.
- 1:26:15Speaker 11: Ran thirty four routes, was targeted four times, caught one
- 1:26:18Speaker 11: pass for six yards, and that's your starting X receiver
- 1:26:22Speaker 11: right like that, that's the guy that plays the most
- 1:26:24Speaker 11: snap on your team at that position.
- 1:26:27Speaker 4: Don't misunderstand that comment that I just made with me
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: saying I don't think Javon Baker should play well I
- 1:26:33Speaker 4: am not at practice, And I look at it and say,
- 1:26:36Speaker 4: kind of what the emailer said, like his point, and
- 1:26:39Speaker 4: I'm not just turning this around. I'm just saying I
- 1:26:41Speaker 4: can't think that he's doing great in practice. But at
- 1:26:44Speaker 4: this point, I just wonder, well, what's the difference. What
- 1:26:46Speaker 4: do you get to lose? Right?
- 1:26:47Speaker 11: I mean, that's sort of my point that I'm getting
- 1:26:49Speaker 11: at is like you might as well just see what
- 1:26:51Speaker 11: Javon Baker has at this point, because Geijon Boodie is
- 1:26:55Speaker 11: not doing anything to anymore. You know, you had a
- 1:26:57Speaker 11: couple of nice plays that early on when Drake started,
- 1:27:01Speaker 11: you know, in Jacksonville and the touchdown against Houston. But
- 1:27:05Speaker 11: outside of those couple of plays, it really is just
- 1:27:08Speaker 11: a whole lot of it.
- 1:27:08Speaker 4: Seems like teams have sort of said that they're going
- 1:27:10Speaker 4: to take a deep shot to him every once in
- 1:27:12Speaker 4: a while, so you got you gotta watch him. Yeah,
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: he has not created any separation on those Like on the.
- 1:27:17Speaker 11: One deep shot they took to him, there's just no bucket,
- 1:27:19Speaker 11: Like there's no place to put the ball on that
- 1:27:22Speaker 11: throw for Drake, and so it's just some point you
- 1:27:24Speaker 11: got to give some of the other guys a chance
- 1:27:26Speaker 11: out there.
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: Dan in Lynchburg writes in he says, I am not
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: in the Belluminati, and I have no desire to even
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: consider bringing him back. On the contrary, I don't think
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: the team has distanced himself from him enough. I would
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: agree with that Mayo hire was clearly intended to maintain
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: consistency and, in my opinion, the legacy of the old
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: Patriot way, But removing the architect of that old culture
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: from the organization replacing him with an untested disciple of
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: that old culture was not going to make enough of
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: a difference. Case in point, many of the same coaches,
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: especially on the defensive side of the ball, that were
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: in place over the past few years when the team
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: struggled mightily with penalties, discipline, etc. Are still here. A
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: few were even promoted. Why would we expect any improvement
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: to the team's lack of discipline on the field when
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: the coaching staff is still largely the same as it's
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: been the past few years. I like Jerad as a person,
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: but I have not liked his hire from day one,
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: and I hope there is a chance the ownership group
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: reconsiders the direct to the team before too much time
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: is wasted. And yes, obviously the roster is inadequate too.
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: I just think coaching is an area that could have
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: and should have been approved in twenty twenty four and
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: was not.
- 1:28:37Speaker 11: I think it's a tough thing to say that the
- 1:28:38Speaker 11: coaching was going to get better in twenty twenty four,
- 1:28:41Speaker 11: Like as much as we all thought it was time
- 1:28:43Speaker 11: with Bill, to say that the coaching was going to
- 1:28:45Speaker 11: get better with the first time head coach over the
- 1:28:48Speaker 11: greatest coach of all time is a big stretch. I
- 1:28:51Speaker 11: think what they were hoping was that it was going
- 1:28:53Speaker 11: to be a different type of coaching in a different
- 1:28:55Speaker 11: vibe here in the building, and then obviously, you know,
- 1:28:59Speaker 11: upgrades personnel wise. I don't think anybody expected the coaching
- 1:29:03Speaker 11: to be better from like a x's and o's perspective, And.
- 1:29:06Speaker 6: I don't really fault Gerrod for trying to be like Bill.
- 1:29:09Speaker 6: I think my biggest criticism is that they're still trying
- 1:29:12Speaker 6: to run Bill's defense without Bill, and I don't and
- 1:29:14Speaker 6: I think it's missing the key ingredient, which is Bill.
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I was talking more about all the holdovers. But yeah, yeah,
- 1:29:21Speaker 4: than what, Yeah, I agree with you.
- 1:29:23Speaker 6: I don't think the program. They're not coming in and trying.
- 1:29:25Speaker 6: I think that was some of the criticism for Josh
- 1:29:27Speaker 6: when he was in Denver, you know, was it's gonna
- 1:29:30Speaker 6: come in and try to be a you know, hard
- 1:29:32Speaker 6: knows and you know, get guys to do stuff, and
- 1:29:34Speaker 6: you know, I think Mayo has done his own thing.
- 1:29:36Speaker 6: But I just it's it's hard. It's hard to extricate
- 1:29:40Speaker 6: extricate yourself from Bill's system and everything that he did
- 1:29:43Speaker 6: on defense, and I understand why they kept those guys around.
- 1:29:46Speaker 6: But at the end of the day, I think what
- 1:29:48Speaker 6: made that defense special was every week Bill decided what
- 1:29:51Speaker 6: he wanted to do with it, and they had the
- 1:29:53Speaker 6: pieces to do multiple different things and it was him
- 1:29:56Speaker 6: that was able to do it. And now you see
- 1:29:59Speaker 6: feels like you're kind of trying to do that with
- 1:30:01Speaker 6: not the same kind of depth of knowledge that that
- 1:30:04Speaker 6: Bill Belichick had.
- 1:30:04Speaker 10: Yeah, I think you had to.
- 1:30:05Speaker 11: You see it with individual players, especially Johnny deVie. I
- 1:30:09Speaker 11: think has had a horrible year. Johnny Devies a much
- 1:30:12Speaker 11: better football player than what he's shown. But I think
- 1:30:15Speaker 11: Bill just had that magic dust of Okay, I know
- 1:30:17Speaker 11: what this guy's weaknesses are. This is how we're going
- 1:30:21Speaker 11: to keep him out of those positions, and we're only
- 1:30:23Speaker 11: going to put him in positions to succeed. And so
- 1:30:25Speaker 11: he's this like, you know, they I forget what they
- 1:30:28Speaker 11: call it his role. I think adjuster is what they
- 1:30:31Speaker 11: call it. And so it's like an on and off
- 1:30:33Speaker 11: the line of scrimmage roll. But they're not having him
- 1:30:36Speaker 11: drop in the middle of his own defense, you know, eight, ten,
- 1:30:39Speaker 11: twelve yards off the ball, and then have to cover
- 1:30:41Speaker 11: guys coming across the middle of the field under Belichick
- 1:30:44Speaker 11: as much as they are now. And so you just
- 1:30:46Speaker 11: see a lot of these individual guys, you know, to
- 1:30:49Speaker 11: buy dugger, you know, those players Mapu like they just did.
- 1:30:53Speaker 11: Those guys were these hybrid like tweener types that Bill
- 1:30:56Speaker 11: just knew exactly how to use. And I just don't
- 1:30:59Speaker 11: know if anybody else does besides him.
- 1:31:02Speaker 6: And so that's what's kind of concerning me right now.
- 1:31:04Speaker 6: I think I made the point last week about free
- 1:31:06Speaker 6: agency this year, where they don't have a lot of
- 1:31:08Speaker 6: players to sign, so they have money to spend on
- 1:31:11Speaker 6: the outside. But I think the flip side of that
- 1:31:13Speaker 6: coin that I've been kind of ruminating on is that
- 1:31:16Speaker 6: this whole team's coming back next year, like and there's
- 1:31:18Speaker 6: no easy cuts, Like there's a lot of guys who
- 1:31:21Speaker 6: just got new contracts who are big dead money pieces.
- 1:31:25Speaker 6: So on one hand, it's say, yeah, we got everybody,
- 1:31:28Speaker 6: but I think they're gonna have some hard decisions in
- 1:31:30Speaker 6: the other way next year, where I mean, I just
- 1:31:33Speaker 6: I looked at the cab page and I'm like, so
- 1:31:34Speaker 6: if you had to cut somebody, who would have there's
- 1:31:38Speaker 6: nobody easy to cut next year, Like all these guys
- 1:31:40Speaker 6: are still in the beginning of their deals that they retain.
- 1:31:43Speaker 6: And I'd also say what I said to Evan most
- 1:31:46Speaker 6: disappointing is these guys right almost to a man, except
- 1:31:49Speaker 6: for Hunter Henry, and I'd argue maybe Anthony Jennings, so
- 1:31:52Speaker 6: I think has been kind of similar to what he
- 1:31:53Speaker 6: was last year. But everybody else that you signed up
- 1:31:56Speaker 6: for has had a bad year, has had gone downhill
- 1:31:59Speaker 6: this year. Nobody's improved. None of those guys that you
- 1:32:02Speaker 6: signals as these are our captains, these are our future leaders.
- 1:32:05Speaker 6: None of those guys have excelled this year. And that's
- 1:32:08Speaker 6: that's scary. It's you know, how are we going to
- 1:32:10Speaker 6: make a team next year?
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: So let's go down that list.
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: More bar more right, Peppers Peppers, Peppers to buy Steve Henry?
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: When who born Stevenson. Mike's not wrong. Well, I would
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: argue virtually every one of those guys, Henry was Henry,
- 1:32:33Speaker 4: He's one, he is better.
- 1:32:35Speaker 6: Henry is the one. And Jennings, I would say, and that,
- 1:32:37Speaker 6: but that's but Jennings what he.
- 1:32:40Speaker 10: Is, I mean, he's that's another one of those.
- 1:32:42Speaker 4: He also didn't cost any money in fairness, you.
- 1:32:44Speaker 11: Know, and I get it that they don't necessarily have
- 1:32:47Speaker 11: like a great third down option to take him off
- 1:32:50Speaker 11: the field. But Bill looked at Anthony Jennings was like,
- 1:32:52Speaker 11: he's going to play first down and maybe second down,
- 1:32:54Speaker 11: and then we're going to get our pass pressures on
- 1:32:57Speaker 11: the field for third down. And now Jennings is like
- 1:33:01Speaker 11: an every down player, but he's not an every down player.
- 1:33:03Speaker 11: So it's a personnel issue. But I also think it's
- 1:33:06Speaker 11: you know, you got to identify guys strengths and weaknesses
- 1:33:08Speaker 11: and what they bring to the table. Outside of the
- 1:33:10Speaker 11: Bears game, which everybody got pressure in, Anthony Jennings has
- 1:33:14Speaker 11: not gotten any pressure on the quarterback.
- 1:33:16Speaker 4: But like dugger Born, when who Tavi have been marketly
- 1:33:24Speaker 4: lesser players than they were A no, but if you
- 1:33:26Speaker 4: cut the vay, you're not that's not a lot of
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: I'm not talking about the money.
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: I don't know, but he said there's a lot of
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: dead money.
- 1:33:32Speaker 4: But but his Mike's point is you just signed all
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: those guys, so now it's throwing good money after bad
- 1:33:38Speaker 4: if you cut them. Well, I don't care about the
- 1:33:41Speaker 4: cap as you know.
- 1:33:42Speaker 3: I don't think cutting these guys is going.
- 1:33:44Speaker 4: To kill you. Okay, Well, and I think nineteen million
- 1:33:47Speaker 4: that you're rowing who was not going to help you.
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I think this year, I think I get what
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: they were trying to do. And I don't know that
- 1:33:55Speaker 3: this is what this is just from the outside looking in.
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: They were trying to he was trying to get his
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: guys like we're going to extend you. You're going to
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: be our guy, you know, And he was trying to keep,
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: you know, get that locker room together, create his circle
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: the wagon guys. And maybe maybe it's helped inside the
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: locker room, but they're not performing on the field, like
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: you said. And but I don't know if that was
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: like that's sole reason why these guys were signed. You know,
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: I think that this was a rebuilding year and next
- 1:34:25Speaker 3: year when you have the if they're back, you're going
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: to have other guys around them that are going to
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: pick up the slack and and make them better. But
- 1:34:34Speaker 3: these aren't the guys that make other people better.
- 1:34:36Speaker 6: And that's what's disappointing.
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: I think, you know, but I.
- 1:34:39Speaker 3: Don't think that that was the intention.
- 1:34:41Speaker 4: It's just me looking on the outside, But I mean,
- 1:34:44Speaker 4: what what Mike is talking about is the reason I
- 1:34:47Speaker 4: was so antick. I kept saying, running it back on
- 1:34:52Speaker 4: a four and thirteen.
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: Teams, but you had to have you had to you
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: had to feel the team this year.
- 1:34:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, but you didn't have to feel it
- 1:34:58Speaker 4: with the same guys you fielded with last year.
- 1:35:00Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:35:00Speaker 4: I mean you basically changed the course.
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: But when you come in with a new regime, you're
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: behind the eight ball. And so I just I think
- 1:35:07Speaker 3: time was against them. I think they just they needed
- 1:35:10Speaker 3: to feel the team.
- 1:35:10Speaker 4: Shouldn't have been behind the eight ball. I mean it
- 1:35:12Speaker 4: was well orchestrated ahead of time.
- 1:35:15Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:35:15Speaker 10: I just wonder like, what is like, what is their
- 1:35:19Speaker 10: type of player?
- 1:35:20Speaker 3: Now?
- 1:35:20Speaker 11: I think That's the part that worries me the most
- 1:35:22Speaker 11: is because this regime we all kind of agree, is
- 1:35:26Speaker 11: going to have another shot at this offseason. So they're
- 1:35:29Speaker 11: gonna have one hundred and thirty million dollars in cap space,
- 1:35:31Speaker 11: the most in the league to go out there and
- 1:35:33Speaker 11: spend a bunch of cash. Not going to use the
- 1:35:35Speaker 11: phrase spend a bunch of cash. Yeah, And so you
- 1:35:38Speaker 11: have one hundred and thirty million dollars, like what is
- 1:35:41Speaker 11: a defensive end in Gerardmeo and DeMarcus Covington's scheme because
- 1:35:47Speaker 11: the defense Bill for.
- 1:35:48Speaker 10: Better or Worse?
- 1:35:48Speaker 11: Bill had his types right, so like he was six,
- 1:35:52Speaker 11: so he knew who he was going to go after.
- 1:35:54Speaker 6: Twenty six year old mermaid what was twenty four year
- 1:35:59Speaker 6: old mermaids? But you're part of the problem to Evan,
- 1:36:03Speaker 6: I feel like, is that these guys all fit that system.
- 1:36:06Speaker 6: And now it's like, well, how many of these three
- 1:36:08Speaker 6: year contract guys that they resigned aren't quite don't aren't
- 1:36:11Speaker 6: quite schematic fits right now? Yeah, Stevenson, when you maybe
- 1:36:16Speaker 6: kind of dugger.
- 1:36:17Speaker 11: I mean we've been pounding the table about those two
- 1:36:19Speaker 11: guys since they they resigned them, and you know about
- 1:36:23Speaker 11: the scheme fit and all that kind of stuff. Now,
- 1:36:25Speaker 11: I thought on one who played really well in this game.
- 1:36:27Speaker 11: I thought it was probably one of his better games.
- 1:36:29Speaker 11: So maybe he's settling back in now that he's playing
- 1:36:32Speaker 11: guard full time again. But I just I look at
- 1:36:35Speaker 11: all these guys and it's like, Okay, well, if you're
- 1:36:37Speaker 11: going to be an outside zone team, then don't you
- 1:36:40Speaker 11: need athletic cole strange type of offensive lineman.
- 1:36:43Speaker 3: He's coming back.
- 1:36:44Speaker 4: He's coming back just in time to have a decision
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: to make on his fifty year option.
- 1:36:49Speaker 11: But then start drafting those types of guys because in
- 1:36:52Speaker 11: the draft they drafted Kiden Wallace and Laden Robinson, who
- 1:36:55Speaker 11: are not slender, athletic, you know, great moving offensive lineman,
- 1:37:00Speaker 11: so that those guys were drafted to play in a
- 1:37:03Speaker 11: gap scheme, right, but you're running a wide zone scheme.
- 1:37:07Speaker 6: That's why I feel like this year with the defense,
- 1:37:08Speaker 6: like you have to recommit. And I don't know, maybe
- 1:37:10Speaker 6: No Sucks was talking about this today where their defense
- 1:37:14Speaker 6: has kind of become a jack of I mean, try
- 1:37:17Speaker 6: to be a jack of all trades master or um,
- 1:37:18Speaker 6: where they have to recommit to like what is your
- 1:37:21Speaker 6: base defense look like to your point ev conversation is event, Tommy,
- 1:37:26Speaker 6: who is the you know what is are we going
- 1:37:28Speaker 6: to just get an up the field right defensive end
- 1:37:31Speaker 6: that just go get the court?
- 1:37:32Speaker 4: Like do you switch to that?
- 1:37:33Speaker 6: It's easier to coach.
- 1:37:34Speaker 4: But his point is a good one, like what is
- 1:37:36Speaker 4: their prototype for all these different spots? Like we kind
- 1:37:40Speaker 4: of knew it from Bill because of twenty plus years. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:37:43Speaker 4: you know the you know Phil Perry's prototypical Patriots.
- 1:37:46Speaker 11: You had measurables and I thought they drafted outside of Drake.
- 1:37:50Speaker 10: Who.
- 1:37:50Speaker 11: I don't know if Bill would have drafted Drake. I
- 1:37:53Speaker 11: feel like that's everybody's million dollar question.
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: I don't think he would have.
- 1:37:56Speaker 10: Yeah, just because of the raw the raw tools.
- 1:37:58Speaker 11: But Jalen Polk, Leyden Robinson, Cayden Wallace, like those all
- 1:38:04Speaker 11: felt like the same scout that they have been doing.
- 1:38:07Speaker 11: Like they drafted Jalen Polk because he was supposed to
- 1:38:10Speaker 11: be this reliable, steady block blocking you know.
- 1:38:14Speaker 4: All that flashy fancy get right.
- 1:38:16Speaker 10: You know, I'm not Lad McConkey.
- 1:38:18Speaker 4: We'll take the flashy fancy guy who's damaged goods in
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: the fourth round. You know who's got right? Some people
- 1:38:24Speaker 4: have had flags on them, so we can get them
- 1:38:26Speaker 4: for a lesser value. Yeah. Yeah, to Evan's point, that's
- 1:38:30Speaker 4: kind of the way we used to do things.
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: Yeah, JACKI and Abba. Last Thursday, Fred confidently declared that
- 1:38:37Speaker 3: the lack of the week was that the Colts would
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: beat the seven and a half points spread against the
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: favorite Lions in Indianapolis on Sunday. The Lions held the
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: Coats to two Measley field goals on their way to
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: a twenty four to sixth victory. What sayest thou, now,
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: sir Fred, I would say, look at that score. I
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: was onto something. The Lions only scored twenty four points.
- 1:38:58Speaker 3: They've been pasting people.
- 1:39:00Speaker 4: I know. But it's not like you came close to
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: covering the spread.
- 1:39:03Speaker 3: No, but they if the Colts that could have done
- 1:39:05Speaker 3: at least something on offense, they would have covered that spread.
- 1:39:09Speaker 4: Do you think maybe Detroit might have done more on
- 1:39:10Speaker 4: offense if they had to.
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: Nope. They love running it up, you know, they know.
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: I'm just saying if they could have run it up,
- 1:39:17Speaker 4: they would have. I would agree with you. I think
- 1:39:19Speaker 4: that they've been on a mission to run it up.
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:39:22Speaker 4: But the game wasn't really close on paper.
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: But that was that was a weird game.
- 1:39:26Speaker 4: It was like a three hundred and eighty to one
- 1:39:29Speaker 4: and fifty kind of totally.
- 1:39:30Speaker 3: I'm not going to be all right. So I'm fourteen
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: and one, so I'm not going to be right.
- 1:39:34Speaker 4: I just wanted you to admit that you had one loss.
- 1:39:36Speaker 4: That's all I was looking for. Thank you.
- 1:39:37Speaker 3: I was onto something.
- 1:39:38Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: Let's go back to the TPX hotline eight five to
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: five pass five hundred Eddie in LA. What's up? Eddie?
- 1:39:46Speaker 13: Hey, what's up?
- 1:39:47Speaker 7: Guys?
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: Thanks for holding listen.
- 1:39:50Speaker 8: I got a three part trivia question to ask.
- 1:39:52Speaker 14: But I do want to defense like it.
- 1:39:56Speaker 8: He did draft positions as need and then he tried
- 1:39:58Speaker 8: to upgrade the receiver position, and when he resigned our
- 1:40:02Speaker 8: own players, we were kind of good with.
- 1:40:04Speaker 4: It back then, Paul wasn't.
- 1:40:05Speaker 8: So just a little defense of Elliot Woolf.
- 1:40:08Speaker 4: Yeah, and no one's criticizing that the draft picks by position.
- 1:40:15Speaker 4: Some people have been critical of the individual that they chose.
- 1:40:18Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean at the time when they drafted Jalen Polk,
- 1:40:21Speaker 11: both Duce and I are kind of subdued reaction. I
- 1:40:24Speaker 11: remember us talking about it the next day, being like
- 1:40:27Speaker 11: I feel like you guys.
- 1:40:28Speaker 4: Talked yourselves into it. You didn't love it at the time.
- 1:40:30Speaker 11: Yeah, I feel like we kind of were a little
- 1:40:32Speaker 11: hard on the Jalen Polk pick.
- 1:40:33Speaker 10: But it just I didn't expect him to be like this.
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: I did.
- 1:40:36Speaker 4: I didn't either. No, Dad didn't love the pick, but
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: I didn't expect that. But I you know, I just
- 1:40:40Speaker 4: I just didn't think this is weird. But I mean,
- 1:40:43Speaker 4: you know, Eddie, there were some wide receivers available in
- 1:40:46Speaker 4: that area that they could have had that you know,
- 1:40:49Speaker 4: some of them. Yeah, So no one's criticizing that he
- 1:40:53Speaker 4: had to pick players at positions because he did.
- 1:40:56Speaker 6: That was what he needed. That's what I mean going
- 1:40:58Speaker 6: into that draft that we said they're going to go
- 1:40:59Speaker 6: QB wide receiver, ol like they.
- 1:41:01Speaker 4: Needed to tackle. I just didn't want Kayden Wallace in
- 1:41:03Speaker 4: the third round. I wanted a tackle glaring.
- 1:41:06Speaker 8: Stake was not addressing left tackle.
- 1:41:08Speaker 14: That was obviously a glaring mistake.
- 1:41:10Speaker 3: Ye, thank you.
- 1:41:13Speaker 15: Oh called back.
- 1:41:15Speaker 4: I need that. I need that like I need air.
- 1:41:17Speaker 4: I need that three thing, like I need that three
- 1:41:20Speaker 4: part trivia question.
- 1:41:21Speaker 3: Eddie, Please call back finger quick finger. We got time
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: Kendalls in North Carolina what's up, Kendall?
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: Okay, how you guys doing.
- 1:41:29Speaker 14: Hey Kennel, Hey, I got a question.
- 1:41:33Speaker 5: Looking at the matchup for some that you with the Coats,
- 1:41:35Speaker 5: how you think we match up with these big wide receivers.
- 1:41:38Speaker 5: I know Josh down is probably going to be out.
- 1:41:39Speaker 5: I think report report that. So you got Alex Pearce,
- 1:41:42Speaker 5: Michael Pittman, and A D. Mintchell. That's my first question.
- 1:41:45Speaker 5: How you think we match up there? You know last
- 1:41:47Speaker 5: weekend was a speed matchup, but this week I'm not
- 1:41:49Speaker 5: gonna say slower the Stivers, but it.
- 1:41:51Speaker 4: Definitely bigger, bigger guys.
- 1:41:54Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:41:55Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:41:55Speaker 5: My second question is have y'all well just remains for Evan,
- 1:41:59Speaker 5: but y'all all y'all can answer.
- 1:42:01Speaker 8: Have you seen.
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: Anythings from ad menteal with the Coats that send it on?
- 1:42:05Speaker 5: Have you said anything that that that tell you that
- 1:42:08Speaker 5: he would have been a better fit here with the
- 1:42:10Speaker 5: Patriots over the Jalem Pope? Thanks?
- 1:42:13Speaker 6: Uh?
- 1:42:13Speaker 11: Yeah, you know, I'm actually less concerned about the receivers
- 1:42:16Speaker 11: and more concerned about their run game, to be honest
- 1:42:19Speaker 11: with you, because Richards, Yeah, you know, you start looking
- 1:42:22Speaker 11: at some of the things that they do in their
- 1:42:23Speaker 11: run game with their option package. It's pretty it's pretty
- 1:42:27Speaker 11: good stuff, you know. They they ran against the chests.
- 1:42:31Speaker 11: They ran like a triple option, like an actual triple
- 1:42:33Speaker 11: option where they had three options for him to go
- 1:42:36Speaker 11: to on one play, and he actually, I think he
- 1:42:38Speaker 11: flipped it to Downs like down the field. It was
- 1:42:40Speaker 11: like ten yards down the field already and then he
- 1:42:42Speaker 11: pitched it to Downs and and he got, you know,
- 1:42:45Speaker 11: an extra fifteen to twenty yards off of it. So
- 1:42:47Speaker 11: I just look at the way that they you know,
- 1:42:49Speaker 11: read option RPO like those types of designs. But the
- 1:42:53Speaker 11: way the Patriots middle of the field guys just can't
- 1:42:56Speaker 11: keep their eyes on their heads straight that that concerns
- 1:42:59Speaker 11: me more than them throwing jump balls to Michael Pittman
- 1:43:01Speaker 11: and Ady Mitchell.
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: And to be in today's NFL to be less than
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: fifty percent in your completions.
- 1:43:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm a little worried about Pierce only because not
- 1:43:10Speaker 4: because I think he's gonna catch five or six passes.
- 1:43:13Speaker 4: He might, he might catch two. Yeah, and he's been
- 1:43:15Speaker 4: a disappointment in fairness, all right, but big play guy.
- 1:43:19Speaker 4: He averages over twenty yards to catch and all it
- 1:43:23Speaker 4: takes is one. You don't have to go five for
- 1:43:25Speaker 4: five with him. You just go one for five and
- 1:43:27Speaker 4: you have one of them is a sixty five yard touchdown.
- 1:43:30Speaker 6: It's got to be on their mind, though. We get
- 1:43:31Speaker 6: Marcus Jones trying to get them matched up downfield, take
- 1:43:34Speaker 6: a shot on them. It's five eight.
- 1:43:35Speaker 4: I mean, Gonzales is the only one that would feel good.
- 1:43:38Speaker 4: But the size, because because Gonzo is big enough for
- 1:43:41Speaker 4: either one of those guys.
- 1:43:43Speaker 10: I would say we could see Alex Austin.
- 1:43:44Speaker 6: We didn't.
- 1:43:45Speaker 11: We didn't see him last week because of the matchup,
- 1:43:48Speaker 11: but this week, especially if Josh Downs doesn't.
- 1:43:51Speaker 4: Play, which it looks like he's not.
- 1:43:53Speaker 10: Yeah, it feels like.
- 1:43:54Speaker 11: Maybe this isn't quite as much of a Marcus Jones
- 1:43:57Speaker 11: type of game because of the size of those receivers.
- 1:43:59Speaker 4: And Mitchell's been okay, you know, he's clearly the fourth guy,
- 1:44:01Speaker 4: which again with twenty catches, Yeah, something like that.
- 1:44:03Speaker 6: So I got a touchdown.
- 1:44:05Speaker 11: It's so hard to tell, like you know, to answer
- 1:44:07Speaker 11: the question, uh, you know here he to get so
- 1:44:11Speaker 11: much more opportunity, So it's hard to say.
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: I heard someone say, you know, like give Jalen Polk
- 1:44:16Speaker 4: some some rope here, you know, like Julian Edelman didn't
- 1:44:20Speaker 4: hit right away.
- 1:44:22Speaker 3: First of a quarterback.
- 1:44:23Speaker 4: Julian Edelman was a quarterback, seventh round pick, seventh round who,
- 1:44:26Speaker 4: by the way, caught forty some odd passes his rookie year,
- 1:44:30Speaker 4: but also was joining a team that had welcome Andy
- 1:44:35Speaker 4: Moss and you know, and Moss like, you can't just
- 1:44:39Speaker 4: that's not the same thing. Now, Julian Edelman did not
- 1:44:42Speaker 4: come on to this as a starter in week one,
- 1:44:46Speaker 4: with all the opportunities that he was given that Polk
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: was given. I don't think it's an apples to apples comparison.
- 1:44:51Speaker 3: Eddie's back on the line. Sorry about that, Eddie. Go
- 1:44:53Speaker 3: ahead with your number two.
- 1:44:55Speaker 8: Oh yeah, my trivia question. It's a three pot question
- 1:44:59Speaker 8: nineteen eighty five. Oh, I'm pretty sure Paul's going to
- 1:45:03Speaker 8: nail it.
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: But it's a lot of pressure.
- 1:45:04Speaker 8: Who was the opponent of the last game of the
- 1:45:07Speaker 8: year when that got us.
- 1:45:08Speaker 4: The wild card spot Cincinnati?
- 1:45:11Speaker 13: Of course?
- 1:45:12Speaker 3: All right?
- 1:45:13Speaker 8: The fourth in one play and player that stealed.
- 1:45:16Speaker 4: The game, Robert Weathers down the sideline, touched him.
- 1:45:20Speaker 10: On, challenge him a little bit, all right?
- 1:45:24Speaker 4: And his number twenty four?
- 1:45:26Speaker 8: All right? I Paul would yellis.
- 1:45:31Speaker 4: Paul I feel so much better.
- 1:45:32Speaker 10: All right, thank you, I feel we appreciate the call.
- 1:45:35Speaker 3: But now.
- 1:45:37Speaker 4: Paul, well he had already called me with that question.
- 1:45:41Speaker 10: No did I take this, sir?
- 1:45:45Speaker 3: Eldred in North Carolina? What's up? Eldred?
- 1:45:48Speaker 13: Hey, fella, hell y'all doing today?
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: All right?
- 1:45:52Speaker 13: I'm just like everybody else and Eddie, I'm gonna disagree
- 1:45:57Speaker 13: with you, bit bro. Aighty Mitch will been a hell
- 1:45:59Speaker 13: a lot better than what we got with Pope h
- 1:46:03Speaker 13: he a thriving, thriving.
- 1:46:05Speaker 14: That much with Richardson.
- 1:46:07Speaker 13: But when Flacke was in there, he did and he'd
- 1:46:10Speaker 13: like the heap.
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: Been I X.
- 1:46:12Speaker 13: But that's that down on that question for Evan. Yes, sir,
- 1:46:17Speaker 13: I know you said like we should try everybody or
- 1:46:19Speaker 13: anybody from right now. So what about just John Jiles
- 1:46:23Speaker 13: on the practice squad six three? You say, I think
- 1:46:27Speaker 13: you said he was like another speed but he got
- 1:46:31Speaker 13: more catches I know, just in college today pro but
- 1:46:35Speaker 13: anybody better than what we got now as received?
- 1:46:39Speaker 3: What are you think?
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:46:41Speaker 11: So you know, he to me is like a perfect
- 1:46:43Speaker 11: scout team receiver because he's got a really good mold
- 1:46:47Speaker 11: of like size and speed. So if you're trying to
- 1:46:49Speaker 11: mimic guys that have those types of traits, Like that's
- 1:46:51Speaker 11: why you keep guys like John Giles around. I don't
- 1:46:54Speaker 11: think they have any holds, any plans, just like football instincts,
- 1:47:00Speaker 11: hands like good, you know, like the actual like details
- 1:47:03Speaker 11: of playing the position.
- 1:47:05Speaker 10: Good, great athlete.
- 1:47:06Speaker 11: Like I'm not trying to rail on the guy, But
- 1:47:09Speaker 11: that's why those guys they make out really good scout
- 1:47:12Speaker 11: team players because they can mimic guys like that, but
- 1:47:15Speaker 11: they're not quite you know, those types of.
- 1:47:17Speaker 4: I said, we go with the all practice squad team
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: this week, you know, Caleb Jones, John Giles, Ken Giles.
- 1:47:27Speaker 6: Something like.
- 1:47:28Speaker 11: I think Trent Brown is like a little bit bigger
- 1:47:31Speaker 11: than Caleb Jones was like wider and just like more.
- 1:47:35Speaker 6: Uh. It looks hard, but it's hard to be that big,
- 1:47:38Speaker 6: like just lugging your whole like he's just it takes
- 1:47:40Speaker 6: a lot to move when you're six nine.
- 1:47:42Speaker 3: Uh, Danny's in Daytona Beach.
- 1:47:45Speaker 4: What's up, Danny, Daytona?
- 1:47:47Speaker 6: Oh yeah, hello Danny.
- 1:47:53Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:47:53Speaker 8: So I have a couple I have a couple of planks.
- 1:47:58Speaker 14: I want to talk about Elliott Wolf and uh and
- 1:48:01Speaker 14: drawing mao, I know a.
- 1:48:02Speaker 15: Lot of people were saying, Oh, they shouldn't be fired,
- 1:48:06Speaker 15: or maybe.
- 1:48:06Speaker 14: They should be fired.
- 1:48:08Speaker 15: I personally think they should.
- 1:48:10Speaker 13: I listened to a lot of Zolac and Burttanna, I
- 1:48:15Speaker 13: didn't do that.
- 1:48:16Speaker 3: He's still there.
- 1:48:17Speaker 6: I don't know what happened, he said, Zolac and just yea.
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: So we'll go from Daytona Beach down thankat beach. John's there,
- 1:48:29Speaker 3: what's up.
- 1:48:29Speaker 15: John, Patty everyone. I was at the last two UH
- 1:48:37Speaker 15: Patriots games prior to this one on Sunday, and just
- 1:48:42Speaker 15: my emotional kind of fan reactions to the situation. Those
- 1:48:46Speaker 15: other two games from last year and the year before
- 1:48:50Speaker 15: they didn't go very well, but there was just something
- 1:48:52Speaker 15: about this one that felt like a little bit worse
- 1:48:55Speaker 15: than all that, and I just I kind of left feeling,
- 1:49:00Speaker 15: you know, no comments about the scheme, no comments about
- 1:49:03Speaker 15: the team, ra just kind of the little I would
- 1:49:05Speaker 15: say Crestfall would be my be my word of Troy's
- 1:49:09Speaker 15: walking walking to my car. So yeah, just sharing my
- 1:49:13Speaker 15: very emotional, non strategic, non dramatic fan reaction.
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: Yeah, Crestfall, sad and disappointed.
- 1:49:20Speaker 10: I didn't google that one.
- 1:49:21Speaker 4: Feel that it was hard that way after back.
- 1:49:26Speaker 6: Yeah, I just I feel a little disappointed right now,
- 1:49:28Speaker 6: just that I was hoping that that we come out
- 1:49:29Speaker 6: of this season with multiple sparks, you know, multiple like
- 1:49:32Speaker 6: just and I don't need a lot, but you know,
- 1:49:34Speaker 6: a handful of guys that something new, something exciting, and
- 1:49:37Speaker 6: we certainly have that with Drake, and that's that's a
- 1:49:39Speaker 6: big important piece of it. But I just I think
- 1:49:42Speaker 6: it's getting to be too late in the season to
- 1:49:44Speaker 6: truly believe anything that a player shows over these last
- 1:49:47Speaker 6: five games is really indicative of who that player is
- 1:49:50Speaker 6: going to be. Maybe someone will have a good game
- 1:49:52Speaker 6: or flash, but it's hard to have enough opportunity over
- 1:49:55Speaker 6: these five games to really see someone string it together
- 1:49:58Speaker 6: and be like, all right, Caden Wallace, you know, like
- 1:50:00Speaker 6: he played those last two games like he looked, you know, like,
- 1:50:03Speaker 6: it's just it's hard to get there.
- 1:50:04Speaker 11: I don't know we you know, other than the guys
- 1:50:07Speaker 11: that are you know, just like they're reliables like Hunter
- 1:50:10Speaker 11: Henry for example. I feel good about two players on
- 1:50:14Speaker 11: this entire team, Drake and Christian Gonzales and literally everybody else.
- 1:50:18Speaker 11: I kind of just feel like is I mean, like
- 1:50:20Speaker 11: Kean White has his moments I think where he's maybe
- 1:50:23Speaker 11: a little a little bit more than an average NFL starter. Uh,
- 1:50:27Speaker 11: certainly in the interior pass rush. He he looks like
- 1:50:31Speaker 11: a problem for a lot of offensive linemen. But other
- 1:50:35Speaker 11: than that, I'll give him two and a half in
- 1:50:37Speaker 11: terms of like, yeah, when he gets back, I mean.
- 1:50:40Speaker 4: Yeah, can we see if he gets it back.
- 1:50:42Speaker 11: I kind of wonder with him too, with Barmore, like,
- 1:50:45Speaker 11: I'm sure he wants to be out there, but he's
- 1:50:47Speaker 11: clearly a compromise.
- 1:50:48Speaker 3: Like he's like Marcus Jones. I think he's a good player.
- 1:50:52Speaker 3: I don't know about you guys.
- 1:50:53Speaker 4: I think he's he's an exceptional punt returner.
- 1:50:55Speaker 10: Yeah, so that helps, yea almost just for just force
- 1:51:02Speaker 10: really help.
- 1:51:04Speaker 11: Doesn't look like the same guy at all, which I'm
- 1:51:06Speaker 11: not holding Christian Barmore, which I'm not holding against him
- 1:51:09Speaker 11: one bit.
- 1:51:10Speaker 4: I'm just wondering if it's something like is there something
- 1:51:13Speaker 4: in his medical handling here that is preventing him from
- 1:51:20Speaker 4: working out slash you know whatever. He doesn't look like
- 1:51:22Speaker 4: he's in.
- 1:51:22Speaker 10: Jape right, Yeah, this is not a critique.
- 1:51:25Speaker 4: He shouldn't be in shape. He hasn't done anything in
- 1:51:27Speaker 4: three months, cloths, So I'm wondering if Is there something
- 1:51:30Speaker 4: about that that's going to prevent him from being the
- 1:51:33Speaker 4: player he was.
- 1:51:35Speaker 11: Yeah, there's just no strength or like explosiveness to his
- 1:51:38Speaker 11: movements right now like he used to see.
- 1:51:40Speaker 4: You know, he comes crestfall has nothing to find Crestfallen.
- 1:51:46Speaker 4: Like Mike on Christian Barboy's sack, he just looks and
- 1:51:50Speaker 4: he goes, Man, that was awfully late in the dawn.
- 1:51:55Speaker 10: I mean, Mike, really good coverage Biken Zoe.
- 1:51:59Speaker 4: And to your point, I believe that was all set
- 1:52:01Speaker 4: up by Keon White. I think Keon White had immediate
- 1:52:04Speaker 4: pressure on the inside which kind of forced to it
- 1:52:06Speaker 4: to move up a little bit and the move.
- 1:52:08Speaker 11: Yes, some moments in the in the interior pass rush
- 1:52:11Speaker 11: that Keon White looks like a dude, There's no doubt about.
- 1:52:13Speaker 6: That, and like just to like pull some positivity like
- 1:52:16Speaker 6: as bad as that offside so infroony Jenning's like he
- 1:52:18Speaker 6: continues to show up as an NFL edge setter like
- 1:52:21Speaker 6: he does that. I feel like I just don't see
- 1:52:23Speaker 6: it he does that, and I would I don't think
- 1:52:25Speaker 6: we gave credit like to Mapo. I thought that the
- 1:52:27Speaker 6: punch out was a nice play by Mapo too.
- 1:52:29Speaker 4: You know that was that was, yeah, he said Hunter Henry.
- 1:52:32Speaker 10: Yeah, like I'm like I take out, I take out
- 1:52:35Speaker 10: like not been good.
- 1:52:37Speaker 11: Hunter Henry's of the world, who are just kind of
- 1:52:39Speaker 11: solid NFL players, right, been this year relative to the
- 1:52:43Speaker 11: contract they gave him, or just relative.
- 1:52:45Speaker 4: To relative to him? Has he been as good as
- 1:52:47Speaker 4: he was last year? Like this is like you could
- 1:52:50Speaker 4: just say everybody's good the last two weeks, not have
- 1:52:53Speaker 4: any idea why they have three and nine, but that
- 1:52:55Speaker 4: these guys haven't played well.
- 1:52:57Speaker 11: The last two weeks have been better for one and
- 1:52:59Speaker 11: all the inside outside, inside, outside could not have helped
- 1:53:02Speaker 11: his development.
- 1:53:03Speaker 4: He's one of the penalties. Yeah, like in a better game,
- 1:53:06Speaker 4: he's getting called for holding.
- 1:53:07Speaker 11: But uh, it's uh, it's relatively I have a tough
- 1:53:11Speaker 11: time stomaching the fact that they're paying him nineteen million
- 1:53:15Speaker 11: dollars a year to play guard. So like, if they're
- 1:53:17Speaker 11: going to do that, then he better be a damn
- 1:53:19Speaker 11: good guard.
- 1:53:19Speaker 4: Like you can't better just have him and not a
- 1:53:21Speaker 4: hell to worry about it. And that hasn't been the case.
- 1:53:23Speaker 3: I had a bread I meant to say a Godshaw, Yeah,
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: Godshaw has played well.
- 1:53:28Speaker 10: He's for his role.
- 1:53:29Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's okay, but he's a much better
- 1:53:32Speaker 4: example than Godshaw.
- 1:53:33Speaker 11: To me, is a perfect example of what I'm talking
- 1:53:35Speaker 11: about with Hunter Henry, Like in their role, in their
- 1:53:38Speaker 11: capacity very reliable veteran players in this league.
- 1:53:42Speaker 10: Are they game changers? Do they move the needle?
- 1:53:45Speaker 11: Like for the Patriots, you know those Blue Chippers there
- 1:53:48Speaker 11: is you know, it's two guys, it's Drake and Gonza.
- 1:53:50Speaker 4: Like, I'm glad they have Hunter Henry because Drake May
- 1:53:53Speaker 4: is playing right like, Hunter Henry could have the exact
- 1:53:57Speaker 4: same first twelve games if Brissette was playing all like,
- 1:54:00Speaker 4: be like, what's the difference. I'm glad they have him
- 1:54:04Speaker 4: for May because I think it's important that he has
- 1:54:07Speaker 4: a professional veteran who's gonna do the right thing ninety
- 1:54:11Speaker 4: nine percent of the time, and that's what Henry's been.
- 1:54:13Speaker 3: Xavier in Jamaica right said, I'm not a football expert,
- 1:54:16Speaker 3: but I see the obvious talent in Drake May. He's
- 1:54:19Speaker 3: clearly got a lot of tools. He's like to be
- 1:54:20Speaker 3: able to make it as a top ten quarterback in
- 1:54:22Speaker 3: the league. I like Mac, but it's apparent that Drake
- 1:54:25Speaker 3: is more talented. So it was a good decision. I'm
- 1:54:28Speaker 3: concerned though, with May's tendency to lose the ball via
- 1:54:32Speaker 3: fumbles or interceptions. Right now, I'm putting it down to
- 1:54:34Speaker 3: being a rookie, but I hope it's not something inherent
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: in him that he can ever change. He's not tucking
- 1:54:40Speaker 3: the ball in situations where it's clear he's going to
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: be sacked and ends up losing it. Need to fix
- 1:54:44Speaker 3: that there. The more worrying thing is the interceptions and
- 1:54:48Speaker 3: the moments of clutch. It's happened multiple times now, and
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: I know he's trying to win the game, but not
- 1:54:54Speaker 3: all of those players were fourth downs. We had multiple
- 1:54:57Speaker 3: downs left and time on the clock, but he's still
- 1:55:00Speaker 3: forced the ball. I'm giving it leeway, but come on, Drake.
- 1:55:05Speaker 6: I think we all feel similarly of some of those
- 1:55:07Speaker 6: turnovers and fairly balanced. Yeah.
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: Look, I'm very high on Drake May, and I'm a
- 1:55:13Speaker 4: little concerned about that.
- 1:55:14Speaker 10: Fred.
- 1:55:14Speaker 6: How many interceptions of Peyton manningthrow as a twenty rookie,
- 1:55:18Speaker 6: Well there you go.
- 1:55:18Speaker 11: His his turnover where the playerrate has actually come down
- 1:55:21Speaker 11: a little bit, believe it or not frightening, but he
- 1:55:26Speaker 11: right now he is at four point seven percent, which
- 1:55:29Speaker 11: is third most in the league.
- 1:55:31Speaker 10: Right, So that's high.
- 1:55:31Speaker 4: Like, I'm a question about the turnover worthy right there.
- 1:55:34Speaker 4: I don't know why there's that. So as an example,
- 1:55:38Speaker 4: the interception that he throws, he sort of backpedally gets tipped.
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: It makes another is that it was a turnover. Does
- 1:55:44Speaker 4: that go down as a turnover worthy play?
- 1:55:46Speaker 10: So it doesn't in PFF It doesn't.
- 1:55:47Speaker 4: Because it wouldn't in my book.
- 1:55:49Speaker 10: It doesn't mean tipps.
- 1:55:51Speaker 4: Yeah, well tipped, but like not only tipped, Like that
- 1:55:55Speaker 4: was an unbelievable catch by the linebacker. Yeah, Like it wasn't. Really,
- 1:55:59Speaker 4: he didn't put the ball. There were four or five
- 1:56:01Speaker 4: other plays in that game that I thought were far
- 1:56:03Speaker 4: more turnover worthy than that, So that wound up on
- 1:56:05Speaker 4: the ground. They only they only counted the strip sack.
- 1:56:10Speaker 4: I mean because of the emailer's point of the ball
- 1:56:12Speaker 4: security aspect. You can't make a swimp. Josh Allen is
- 1:56:16Speaker 4: still doing that, you know, that stupid swim move with
- 1:56:19Speaker 4: the ball. You can't do that.
- 1:56:20Speaker 11: Yeah, So I was going to bring up Josh Allen
- 1:56:22Speaker 11: because that's the comp right, It does that.
- 1:56:24Speaker 4: All the time, and it's still one of the things
- 1:56:25Speaker 4: that he can't get away with.
- 1:56:27Speaker 11: Yeah, Josh Allen's rookie season, his turnover worthy player, it
- 1:56:30Speaker 11: was five point one percent and Drakes right now is
- 1:56:33Speaker 11: four point seven. So pretty comparable, right, And that that's
- 1:56:37Speaker 11: what you hope. You hope that he's Josh Allen two
- 1:56:40Speaker 11: point zero. And they're gonna be moments where there's gonna
- 1:56:43Speaker 11: be some some boneheaded neo Paul say and he's still
- 1:56:45Speaker 11: doing it right, boneheaded and turnovers. But there are also
- 1:56:49Speaker 11: going to be moments where he's rolling to his right
- 1:56:51Speaker 11: and three guys are coming up to him and he
- 1:56:52Speaker 11: throws it fifty yards for a touchdown.
- 1:56:54Speaker 6: So it's like, you know that that's the gotta take
- 1:56:57Speaker 6: the yea right, welcome to this, like this is the
- 1:57:00Speaker 6: new age quarterback. N Yeah, he's mobile, he can run,
- 1:57:03Speaker 6: might throw some interceptions.
- 1:57:05Speaker 4: Yeah, let me some turnovers, all right, too many turnovers.
- 1:57:08Speaker 4: And he was all over it again today at his
- 1:57:11Speaker 4: press conference. You know he's got to clean it up.
- 1:57:14Speaker 3: Yeah, this is I'm not surprised that this at all. No,
- 1:57:17Speaker 3: and I'm glad they're not coddling him like they did
- 1:57:19Speaker 3: with Matt Jones his first year. So smart kid, we'll
- 1:57:25Speaker 3: work it out.
- 1:57:25Speaker 4: Third and sixteen draw.
- 1:57:27Speaker 3: He's the least of our problems right now. All right,
