- 0:00Welcome to Insight Today. You know, we often
- 0:03talk about corporate social responsibility, but
- 0:06it's, well, it's rare to see it woven so deeply
- 0:09into an organization's fabric. Today, we're looking
- 0:13at how the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority,
- 0:16DIWA, is championing community in a really, really,
- 0:21truly impactful way. It's a fantastic example,
- 0:24Sarah. I mean, this goes so far beyond simple
- 0:27charity. Diwa is actively fostering national
- 0:31entrepreneurship. Right. And aligning directly
- 0:35with the UAE's vision for a more interconnected
- 0:38and sustainable society. They're creating these
- 0:42tangible platforms for success. For instance,
- 0:45to mark the 54th Eid al -Itihad, Diwa organized
- 0:49the Al -Bayt Met Wahid exhibition, right, at
- 0:52its headquarters. And it featured... I think
- 0:55it was 15 families of Diwa employees who own
- 0:58their own small businesses. Wow, that's a brilliant
- 1:02initiative. It's an interactive platform that
- 1:05showcases Emirati creativity and really reinforces
- 1:09a culture of entrepreneurship. But, you know,
- 1:12their scope is even broader. In partnership with
- 1:15the Ministry of Family and the Community Development
- 1:17Authority, they also organized the Basmat al
- 1:21-Dar exhibition. And that one is especially significant,
- 1:25Raj, because it specifically featured productive
- 1:27families and people of determination. Wow. Highlighting
- 1:31their capabilities and, you know, enhancing their
- 1:34full and effective integration into society.
- 1:36Absolutely. And alongside this economic empowerment,
- 1:40Diwa is also strengthening cultural roots to
- 1:44promote loyalty and belonging. They celebrated
- 1:47Union Pledge Day. This included a workshop called
- 1:51Ad Yatajadad, or A Pledge Renewed. Right, yeah.
- 1:56Which explored the day's, you know, its historical
- 1:59and patriotic significance. What really stands
- 2:02out to me is just the consistency. Diwa is keen
- 2:06to involve what? between 15 and 20 Emirati families
- 2:10in every single exhibition it organizes. Yeah.
- 2:13So this isn't a one -off event. It's a sustained
- 2:16commitment to creating real economic and social
- 2:18opportunities. Exactly. These initiatives coming
- 2:22during the Year of Community, they directly reflect
- 2:26the directives of the Y's leadership to consolidate
- 2:29social values. It's community building in action.
- 2:33It truly is. So... Here's a question we'd like
- 2:37you, our listeners, to think about. As corporations
- 2:40become more and more influential, what do you
- 2:44think is the single most important role they
- 2:46should play in strengthening local communities?
