- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hey guys, welcome to the Almost Nice Podcast. Today we
- 0:09Speaker 2: are going to do a little Q and a sash
- 0:13Speaker 2: looking at this first bullet point we've got here, Ben,
- 0:15Speaker 2: how do you feel about making the top four bachelor
- 0:20Speaker 2: Hottest Bachelor's in Histories list on Reddit?
- 0:24Speaker 3: I will say this to be honest, like this, this
- 0:27Speaker 3: feels good, Like I didn't realize I needed this today,
- 0:30Speaker 3: but I didn't need this. I'm so glad.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I mean, I'm looking at this bracket here, so you know,
- 0:36Speaker 2: it's March madness, you know, continuing into April. So the
- 0:41Speaker 2: Reddit boards did a bracket with all the bachelors and
- 0:46Speaker 2: you Grant Ellis of course, Jesse Palmer and Joey.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Yeah, are the top four.
- 0:53Speaker 2: You guys are going into the you know what is
- 0:55Speaker 2: the top four called the final the Final four. You're
- 0:59Speaker 2: the final four. I went, you know, I went to Syracuse.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Back then we used to be part of this all
- 1:03Speaker 2: the time, but now not so much. And it has
- 1:07Speaker 2: you have been eliminated. When it comes to the top
- 1:11Speaker 2: the final, the head to head is actually against Jesse
- 1:13Speaker 2: Palmer and Joey and Joey has won the Hottest Bachelor
- 1:18Speaker 2: bracket overall.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Feelings Again, I didn't know I needed this today I did.
- 1:25Speaker 3: It feels good to me. I don't win many things
- 1:28Speaker 3: in my life. I'm never like a top dog, but
- 1:31Speaker 3: it's good to be considered at least not like the
- 1:35Speaker 3: last place person. That would really hurt if I saw this,
- 1:38Speaker 3: If you guys posted this and I had gotten knocked
- 1:40Speaker 3: out in the first round by Colton Underwood, I would
- 1:43Speaker 3: be so sad. First off, I'll say that's a tough
- 1:46Speaker 3: matchup for me, right off the back. Colton Underwood, you know,
- 1:50Speaker 3: handsome guy, good looking, works out all the time, so
- 1:53Speaker 3: a tough matchup. Then I went on to a prince,
- 1:56Speaker 3: and I beat a prince. I would say this road
- 1:59Speaker 3: to the final four was not easy for me. Joey
- 2:03Speaker 3: is a very attractive man. I'll spend a second here
- 2:06Speaker 3: talking about why he beat me. One. He's got the smile,
- 2:11Speaker 3: he's got the eyes, he's got the hair. Yeah, he's
- 2:14Speaker 3: got the hair. I saw him on Dance with the Stars.
- 2:17Speaker 3: There's a reason why he danced with his shirt off
- 2:20Speaker 3: the whole time, even though he has insanely sweaty armpits.
- 2:25Speaker 3: They still said, let that sweat show because he's a
- 2:28Speaker 3: hot man. He's a hot man, and he beat me.
- 2:31Speaker 3: I also say this, Actually, I said the same thing
- 2:33Speaker 3: to my dad. My dad's a big Purdue basketball fan.
- 2:36Speaker 3: They get beat by Houston last week, and I told
- 2:40Speaker 3: him this, Dad, you know how good it feels now
- 2:43Speaker 3: you got beat? That stinks. Nobody likes losing. I don't
- 2:46Speaker 3: like losing. I don't like looking at this losing. But
- 2:48Speaker 3: you got beat by the potential national champions in the
- 2:52Speaker 3: Houston Cougars. You could honestly be the second best team
- 2:56Speaker 3: in the country. And I'll say that about this bracket.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Joey wins the whole thing against Jesse Palmer. I lost
- 3:02Speaker 3: to the champion, and I had a tough road to
- 3:05Speaker 3: get there. I feel good about my effort. I'm very
- 3:08Speaker 3: thankful for the work that's put into this. I'd like
- 3:12Speaker 3: to think my parents and my wife for her skincare routines.
- 3:17Speaker 3: I'd like to think the show for picking me when
- 3:20Speaker 3: I was twenty five years old and kind of at
- 3:22Speaker 3: my prime, Like that's not I wasn't a thirty year
- 3:26Speaker 3: old bachelor. I didn't started aging yet. I was just
- 3:28Speaker 3: reaching my peak when I became the bachelor, but this
- 3:32Speaker 3: is a wild bracket. It could have hurt me so bad.
- 3:35Speaker 3: But instead I'm going to tell my wife I made
- 3:37Speaker 3: the final four of Hottest Bachelors ever.
- 3:39Speaker 2: That is amazing. I'm so happy for you, Ben, and
- 3:42Speaker 2: I agree with this. You are definitely in my top three.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I just I just said you made my top three.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Bachelors a little bit. Actually, goodness, you were like in
- 3:56Speaker 3: my top sixty.
- 3:58Speaker 4: You're out there.
- 3:59Speaker 2: I know what my top four hottest bachelors are, but like,
- 4:03Speaker 2: I'm too friendly with all of you, so I'm just
- 4:04Speaker 2: gonna like, let you be in the top I'm going
- 4:06Speaker 2: to tell you that you're in the top three without
- 4:08Speaker 2: ranking them one to three. That makes sense.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's I'll take it, Ashley. And I appreciate
- 4:13Speaker 3: you not crushing me. I thought for a second you're
- 4:16Speaker 3: going to turn it and be like, yeah, this was
- 4:18Speaker 3: a shock that you made the top four, and then
- 4:19Speaker 3: I was gonna.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Be like, no, no, it's you know, and if we
- 4:24Speaker 2: didn't work together, I would probably say that you were Well,
- 4:28Speaker 2: I'm not gonna I'm not going to go further, not
- 4:29Speaker 2: gonna go further. You just look at you so brotherly. Now. Yeah,
- 4:33Speaker 2: but if I were to like, not look at you brotherly,
- 4:35Speaker 2: I wonder where you you know, I'm just gonna shut
- 4:38Speaker 2: the hell up.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Here's what's impressive. And I think like we can live
- 4:42Speaker 3: on each other a little bit in this moment, and
- 4:43Speaker 3: it's really good. Typically, when you meet somebody, you either
- 4:50Speaker 3: like them less or like them more over time. Right
- 4:53Speaker 3: you're there, either become more or less attractive to you
- 4:56Speaker 3: over time after you get to know somebody well. And
- 4:59Speaker 3: I would say, after nine years of doing this, I
- 5:01Speaker 3: told it just the other day. We were talking about
- 5:04Speaker 3: you and your time on the show because she was
- 5:06Speaker 3: curious she didn't see it, and I said, I'll tell
- 5:08Speaker 3: you this. I think I love, appreciate, and then more
- 5:13Speaker 3: attracted to Ashley every year that we host the show.
- 5:15Speaker 3: I don't know if I said those exact words, but
- 5:16Speaker 3: it was the sentiment that was given to her. And
- 5:20Speaker 3: I'd say, that's a pretty big deal. For nine years doing.
- 5:24Speaker 2: This, that is so sweet. I know. Yeah, well, you
- 5:28Speaker 2: know I love those moments where I'm like, oh, Ben,
- 5:32Speaker 2: that is one of my best friends.
- 5:33Speaker 4: It's so sweet.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so cool. I can't believe it. I still
- 5:37Speaker 2: think that sometimes it's cool.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's cool too. We got a good
- 5:40Speaker 3: thing going here, Ashley. Let's never let it stop. Speaking
- 5:43Speaker 3: of hot people, Victoria Fuller recently said she was on
- 5:49Speaker 3: the short list to be the next Bachelor at Before
- 5:52Speaker 3: the Pause. Do you think she would have brought back viewership,
- 5:56Speaker 3: like we've kind of talked about for weeks now and
- 5:57Speaker 3: what the show needs to do. Would she have been
- 5:59Speaker 3: the right fit to lead the show?
- 6:01Speaker 2: She could have been, because one, she is just so
- 6:04Speaker 2: damn sexy. Two, she came from Peter season, which is
- 6:08Speaker 2: one of the greatest seasons of ratings over the past decade.
- 6:15Speaker 3: The cast was incredible that season.
- 6:17Speaker 2: It was great, great cast. It was the season that
- 6:20Speaker 2: was going into COVID and then it just kind of
- 6:22Speaker 2: like lost steam a bit. But that was the way
- 6:26Speaker 2: to go out with the bang. And yeah, she stayed
- 6:29Speaker 2: relevant over the past five years. She's dated quarterback she
- 6:36Speaker 2: did it, you know, the quarterback of the Titans. She's
- 6:38Speaker 2: dated Greg Grippo, one of the stars of Bachelin Nation.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I think that she brings a lot of interest. She
- 6:45Speaker 2: is somebody that guys would want to date. And uh yeah,
- 6:51Speaker 2: I could see her being like sassy as a mother effort.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Yeah, and then I don't think I think that plays.
- 6:55Speaker 3: My only critique would be I think they had such
- 6:58Speaker 3: a good thing going with with Yeah, that everybody would
- 7:03Speaker 3: have been upset if it wasn't her, and so it
- 7:05Speaker 3: never would have fit Victoria Fuller. Though just in general,
- 7:10Speaker 3: being the Bachelorette would be great television. I think people
- 7:12Speaker 3: would view it. I do think it would increase viewership.
- 7:15Speaker 3: But I do also think that the fan base really
- 7:19Speaker 3: was begging for Latia to be the next Bachelorette because she,
- 7:22Speaker 3: out of anybody in years past, was like the prime candidate.
- 7:28Speaker 3: I mean, goodness gracious, they had a gift handed to
- 7:31Speaker 3: them and they said, yeah, let's not do it this year.
- 7:33Speaker 2: So you and I love Latia. Do you know what
- 7:36Speaker 2: I've gotten from people who've come up to me as
- 7:38Speaker 2: Bachelor fans just out and about in public, They were like,
- 7:42Speaker 2: I can't believe it, Like this darker side came out
- 7:46Speaker 2: of her when she was dumped. People kept telling me,
- 7:49Speaker 2: like I have heard from many people that they were
- 7:52Speaker 2: come on, now, come on now. People were disappointed to
- 7:57Speaker 2: see a different version of her come out, And I
- 7:58Speaker 2: was like, oh, really, because I like her more than ever.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Yeah, no, Yeah, I think I think a lot of
- 8:06Speaker 3: people respected it and saw themselves in her. I think
- 8:09Speaker 3: she had a related ability and it's not like her
- 8:11Speaker 3: character changed. She's still the sweet but she protects herself
- 8:16Speaker 3: and we should Yeah, we should support that, right, I
- 8:19Speaker 3: mean we should support women standing up for themselves. Get
- 8:23Speaker 3: behind that. Let's go okay. Next question is this. I
- 8:29Speaker 3: have a lot of feelings and thoughts on this topic,
- 8:32Speaker 3: but Dylan Ephron is making headwaves right now. Right every
- 8:36Speaker 3: time I open on my Instagram, I feel like there's
- 8:38Speaker 3: a new shirtless picture of him. There is a new
- 8:43Speaker 3: article about, you know, his love interest, whatever is happening
- 8:46Speaker 3: in his life. He's blowing up, is the way to
- 8:48Speaker 3: say this. And I don't know if that's what the
- 8:49Speaker 3: kids are saying these days, but in my world, he's
- 8:52Speaker 3: blowing up. Would he make a good bachelor? Like, do
- 8:56Speaker 3: you see those types of people being good bachelor's or not?
- 9:00Speaker 2: I still think that this is the route that they
- 9:02Speaker 2: need to take to give the franchise a little boost.
- 9:05Speaker 2: The amount of tiktoks that would go crazy, the TikTok
- 9:09Speaker 2: would go crazy if Dylan Ephron was the lead. We
- 9:13Speaker 2: need that, we need someone like this, Zach could make
- 9:17Speaker 2: a little appearance on the show. Oh my god, that'd
- 9:20Speaker 2: be amazing. I'm totally down for a I don't want
- 9:24Speaker 2: to call yes, I can call him a Dalist. He
- 9:27Speaker 2: was on Traitors because of his brother, So we need
- 9:30Speaker 2: like a Dalist celebrity who may be having a moment
- 9:34Speaker 2: and not being currently Dealist as the lead.
- 9:36Speaker 3: I say, Dalist, maybe you'd be okay. I do think
- 9:40Speaker 3: the show is really made off of who they cast
- 9:44Speaker 3: and would they bring into Dylan Effron. I do believe
- 9:46Speaker 3: the applicants would be of all varieties and there'd be
- 9:52Speaker 3: a plenty of applicants to go through. So I do
- 9:55Speaker 3: think it could work if they casted it. Well, we
- 9:59Speaker 3: just talked about Peters season of The Bachelor. There's very
- 10:02Speaker 3: few casts outside of the season that I was the Bachelor,
- 10:06Speaker 3: because I would fight to say that was the best
- 10:09Speaker 3: cast ever, because I just think those girls are great.
- 10:12Speaker 2: I would try to say that Crystals was but all good.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Yeah, Crystal's also be up there. There was a season there.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Let's just say this, there was a period of time
- 10:22Speaker 3: where the cast was incredible, from like the first to
- 10:26Speaker 3: even some people going home on Night one and we
- 10:29Speaker 3: need to get back to that, and I think that
- 10:32Speaker 3: I think the issue is maybe not with the casting
- 10:35Speaker 3: team as much as the applicants aren't as many as
- 10:38Speaker 3: previous years, and so as a result, the show suffers.
- 10:43Speaker 3: So yes, I do think if Dylan effern was announced
- 10:45Speaker 3: with a Bachelor and they give enough time for people
- 10:47Speaker 3: to sign up, we would see a lot of fun
- 10:51Speaker 3: be had with who they brought to the show. So
- 10:54Speaker 3: I think it's a great choice. I just don't want
- 10:56Speaker 3: to get into this. This is the celebrity dating game
- 10:59Speaker 3: where selettes are leads.
- 11:01Speaker 2: I know.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's unhealthy and it takes away from
- 11:04Speaker 3: the ethos of the show, which has always been right
- 11:07Speaker 3: to find true love. We'll see if it ever works well.
- 11:10Speaker 2: I think that people should pull more beckatillies like why
- 11:13Speaker 2: haven't we had anybody else be like, hey, I really
- 11:16Speaker 2: feel something for this new lead. Can I join this season?
- 11:20Speaker 3: Because I don't think we've had many leads where people
- 11:22Speaker 3: have felt that way.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Okay, so you know what, get a Dylan Ephron as
- 11:26Speaker 2: the lead and then get a couple girls that were
- 11:28Speaker 2: stand outs during their seasons as part of the cast.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Yeah, that's smart. I don't think it's a bad idea.
- 11:34Speaker 3: I like it. I like it.
- 11:45Speaker 4: All right.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Question for you, Okay, do you feel like people take
- 11:49Speaker 2: online drama too seriously? Like Tyler unfollowing great? Well, actually
- 11:53Speaker 2: it was Grant who unfollowed Tyler, and then Grant recently
- 11:57Speaker 2: like responded because Tyler was like, oh, very interesting, you unfollowed.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Grant unfollowed me after I gave him a little shade
- 12:04Speaker 2: about his finale, and then Grant responded being like he
- 12:09Speaker 2: posted like a whole video and he was like, no, dude,
- 12:11Speaker 2: I I unfollowed you because what was the reason because
- 12:14Speaker 2: you shaded Kendrick Lamar during the Super Bowl. Do you
- 12:18Speaker 2: think that people are making too big of a deal
- 12:20Speaker 2: of the online drama? I actually I think that people
- 12:23Speaker 2: thought that.
- 12:24Speaker 3: I really like how you asked. You're like, I need
- 12:26Speaker 3: to ask you a question, and I asked the question
- 12:28Speaker 3: to answer. I like, say, I post add something.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Going on that's hilarious. Okay, Well, I actually think that
- 12:38Speaker 2: Grants pissed off at Tyler for calling him out about that.
- 12:43Speaker 3: That's what you think's happening. Yeah, So were we talking
- 12:46Speaker 3: about that scenario specifically or Okay.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Now, first we're going to talk about this scenario specifically, Yeah,
- 12:51Speaker 2: and then we'll do overall.
- 12:53Speaker 3: So what it was your take on that, It's just
- 12:55Speaker 3: very different than how I like how I would handle
- 12:58Speaker 3: these situations, and not that the way I would handle
- 13:02Speaker 3: it be right or wrong. But Caitlin Bristow is a
- 13:04Speaker 3: good example, right. Kaylin Bristow a year ago right came
- 13:09Speaker 3: out publicly and was really upset about an interview we
- 13:11Speaker 3: did on the Almost Famous podcast with Jason Tartick, and
- 13:13Speaker 3: it was Chris, I wasn't there. Yeah, you're free, You're
- 13:18Speaker 3: Scotch Free, the best friend in the world that would
- 13:23Speaker 3: never do anything like this or ever engage in a
- 13:26Speaker 3: show that would cause any controversy Ashley Hike and Eddie.
- 13:31Speaker 3: So Chris Harrison, I hosted this with Jason, and I
- 13:33Speaker 3: honestly felt like it was a very fair interview with Jason.
- 13:37Speaker 3: It didn't bash Kaitlin and didn't bash Jason. It was
- 13:40Speaker 3: just getting you know, the story out there. And obviously
- 13:41Speaker 3: we see in headlines right now with Kaitlin kind of
- 13:44Speaker 3: talking about that relationship once again with some issues she
- 13:48Speaker 3: has with how he named the dog the baby name
- 13:51Speaker 3: that she wanted to have. We'll talk about that at
- 13:54Speaker 3: a later date. So what I did was immediately not
- 13:58Speaker 3: go on social media. And maybe it's because of my
- 14:01Speaker 3: discomfort with social media, or it's that I don't want
- 14:04Speaker 3: to open up a can of worms and explode an
- 14:08Speaker 3: issue into the universe so that everybody feels like they
- 14:12Speaker 3: have the right to share their opinion on it. So
- 14:15Speaker 3: what I do I called Caitlin and I said, Hey, Caitlin,
- 14:17Speaker 3: I saw you said this, what's going on?
- 14:20Speaker 1: Like?
- 14:21Speaker 3: Can we talk this out? Can we figure this out
- 14:23Speaker 3: so that this doesn't have to be a headline any
- 14:25Speaker 3: longer because I don't like them being headlined. It does
- 14:28Speaker 3: feel like Ashley, and I say that to say, it
- 14:30Speaker 3: does feel like this next generation of contestants are more
- 14:33Speaker 3: comfortable with the drama being aired out within the public
- 14:37Speaker 3: sphere and headlines being made. And so I would say,
- 14:42Speaker 3: with my skepticism and cynicism towards what's happening with the
- 14:45Speaker 3: franchise right now and trying to make sense of the
- 14:49Speaker 3: generation behind us ten years whatever, growing up and what
- 14:53Speaker 3: they're feeling and dealing with emotionally, is that this is
- 14:56Speaker 3: a great grab for attention. Drama seems to be the
- 15:01Speaker 3: catalyst to keep people's names in the headlines, because bachelor
- 15:05Speaker 3: people don't have a lot of ways to keep our
- 15:06Speaker 3: names in the headlines unless we're dating somebody new, we're
- 15:10Speaker 3: having babies, or we're causing drama. People aren't posting about
- 15:14Speaker 3: us because they see us out having dinner as some
- 15:17Speaker 3: fancy restaurant. No, they're posting about it because of the
- 15:20Speaker 3: drama that's associated with the people that come from the franchise.
- 15:22Speaker 3: And so I say that, are people making a too
- 15:26Speaker 3: big of a deal about her or they playing into
- 15:28Speaker 3: it too much? I don't know how to answer that,
- 15:30Speaker 3: because it feels like it works. It feels like drama
- 15:32Speaker 3: is the thing that keeps people relevant, and I think
- 15:35Speaker 3: that's a new thing because I don't personally want drama
- 15:39Speaker 3: to be the way that people remember me, know me,
- 15:41Speaker 3: or associate me with somebody else.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm scared of confrontation, so it's not my way either,
- 15:49Speaker 2: says the girl who had plenty of confrontation on the show.
- 15:52Speaker 2: But still it's scary to me, and I wouldn't handle
- 15:54Speaker 2: it like this as well. But you are spot on.
- 15:58Speaker 2: It makes headlines, So if you feel like you want
- 16:00Speaker 2: a headline, just go for it.
- 16:02Speaker 4: Yes, I mean that make that TikTok. Make that Instagram
- 16:05Speaker 4: reil exactly. Yeah, make it because it works. And so
- 16:09Speaker 4: I don't know if it's too big of a dealer
- 16:11Speaker 4: or not. It's working for what they want it to be.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I just think it's a very unhealthy path to
- 16:18Speaker 3: go down, and it feels very heavy and it doesn't
- 16:24Speaker 3: feel life giving. So I mean, I think I would
- 16:27Speaker 3: finalize it in saying this for any listener out there,
- 16:31Speaker 3: at what point in your life has had having a
- 16:35Speaker 3: dramatic confrontation with somebody caused you to feel more alive
- 16:41Speaker 3: or free or more joy filled? At what point has
- 16:44Speaker 3: that ever happened in your life? And so why would
- 16:46Speaker 3: you want to perpetuate these situations to be lasting longer
- 16:51Speaker 3: than they need to be in the public sphere. I
- 16:53Speaker 3: think over time it will start to wear on humans.
- 16:56Speaker 3: I think over time we'll start to see people get
- 16:58Speaker 3: really upset in these situations. And then my final point is,
- 17:02Speaker 3: at what point is too far too far? Like, at
- 17:05Speaker 3: what point does you not healing this issue become too
- 17:10Speaker 3: much and it actually ends up hurting somebody personally? And
- 17:15Speaker 3: that's something I don't think any human yet wants to do,
- 17:17Speaker 3: is actually hurt people personally.
- 17:19Speaker 2: I could make a joke by saying that my bad
- 17:21Speaker 2: lance confrontation did did put me on a track that
- 17:26Speaker 2: helped my life. But that's a one instance type thing.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Yeah, you got lucky, You got lucky, But what happened
- 17:33Speaker 3: to the other person? They disappeared. We've never seen him again, Ashley,
- 17:36Speaker 3: you did? Goodness gracious? All right? Back to you here?
- 17:52Speaker 3: Do you feel like the Bachelor franchise demands too much
- 17:55Speaker 3: perfectionism from its leads? Now, we've talked about this a
- 17:59Speaker 3: lot in the past, and you just brought it up
- 18:01Speaker 3: with Letia on you know, she stood up for herself
- 18:04Speaker 3: and then people say, well, we saw a new side
- 18:06Speaker 3: of her, Ashley, When when the question is asked you
- 18:10Speaker 3: do you feel like it asks too much, demands too
- 18:13Speaker 3: much perfectionism from its leads, And let's add in its
- 18:17Speaker 3: you know, top cast members.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I was gonna say that maybe they're I of course
- 18:23Speaker 2: do not have the answers, but I do feel like
- 18:25Speaker 2: the cast if you show more like flaws, more vulnerabilities,
- 18:33Speaker 2: more relatability, you get really you get a lot of likes,
- 18:38Speaker 2: Like a lot of people will gravitate towards you. The
- 18:41Speaker 2: lead probably has less room to show flaws, and if
- 18:46Speaker 2: they do, they need to like really talk it out.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I might be making this up at the top of
- 18:52Speaker 2: my head, but like I'm thinking that if you're like
- 18:57Speaker 2: I don't know what to do, like I'm very emotional
- 18:59Speaker 2: about this, that goes over well. I think what happened
- 19:02Speaker 2: with Grant was that, like he didn't show enough thought process.
- 19:07Speaker 2: It's kind of like in school when they're like show
- 19:10Speaker 2: your work, you know, your math work, Like give us
- 19:14Speaker 2: everything that you're thinking of, and that is going to
- 19:17Speaker 2: make you likable. And if you're not giving a lot
- 19:22Speaker 2: of your if you're not explaining a lot of yourself
- 19:24Speaker 2: or showing enough emotion, then that is not gonna make
- 19:29Speaker 2: you as likable. So like, if you're imperfect, show why
- 19:35Speaker 2: you're imperfects that Restante might being crazy.
- 19:39Speaker 3: No, I think what you're you're looking for is one
- 19:42Speaker 3: of the characteristics of a lead has to be vulnerability
- 19:45Speaker 3: and the ability to communicate your feelings and emotions at
- 19:50Speaker 3: all points, even if you're feeling crazy and you're like,
- 19:54Speaker 3: I love two people. I don't know what to do
- 19:56Speaker 3: about this. I think explaining that, which the producers typically
- 20:02Speaker 3: do a very good job at getting that out of
- 20:04Speaker 3: you along the way, because it's not necessarily how we
- 20:07Speaker 3: function in our normal lives, but it is the ability
- 20:10Speaker 3: to communicate what you're feeling internally, and sometimes it's communicating
- 20:15Speaker 3: things that you don't even know you're feeling internally and
- 20:18Speaker 3: until you start processing this stuff out. And I think
- 20:21Speaker 3: that is the mark of a good lead. So perfectionism
- 20:24Speaker 3: is an interesting word to use, or to be asked
- 20:27Speaker 3: here from one of our listeners, because I don't know
- 20:32Speaker 3: how often the leads need to be perfect.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Exactly as much as they need to be communicative.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Communicative, and they are held to a different standard in
- 20:42Speaker 3: an environment that nobody watching has ever been in, and
- 20:46Speaker 3: so sometimes perfect within this environment of dating a bunch
- 20:51Speaker 3: of people and processing a bunch of emotions and trying
- 20:54Speaker 3: to filter through your way through this process, perfect looks
- 20:57Speaker 3: different than what it would in the normal life, and
- 20:59Speaker 3: so we don't don't even recognize the perfect choice sometimes
- 21:03Speaker 3: until it's too late, or until it's years later when
- 21:06Speaker 3: somebody else does the same thing and we're like, wait,
- 21:10Speaker 3: maybe that does make sense. Maybe that is how this
- 21:12Speaker 3: is supposed to go. Maybe those are the emotions you're
- 21:15Speaker 3: supposed to be processing. And so I don't know if
- 21:17Speaker 3: it's held to perfectionism, but I do know that criticism
- 21:22Speaker 3: comes in and is unwarranted based on the environment that
- 21:25Speaker 3: the leads are trying to go through because nobody can
- 21:27Speaker 3: relate with it. They can't see it and be like,
- 21:29Speaker 3: that's what I would do if I was dating ten
- 21:31Speaker 3: women at once, That's what I would do if I
- 21:32Speaker 3: was dating ten minute ones. They don't get it. We
- 21:34Speaker 3: don't get it until you're in it.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Yeah, totally so well put, Ben, when you thought of
- 21:41Speaker 2: that when you were like giving yourself a standard in
- 21:43Speaker 2: your head, when you were just explaining that, who is
- 21:46Speaker 2: your standard, like.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Sus standard to live up to? When I was the
- 21:51Speaker 3: leader or.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Yeah, did you have somebody in your head when you
- 21:54Speaker 2: were giving that answer. I mean, I think I guess
- 21:57Speaker 2: it's different for you since you actually were the lead
- 21:59Speaker 2: and lived it. Yeah, I mean for me, I was
- 22:02Speaker 2: thinking about you and Joey.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's interesting. I think. I think the two
- 22:07Speaker 3: things Joey and I have talked about this, the things
- 22:09Speaker 3: that we came into as leads that were similar, was
- 22:15Speaker 3: one that we really believed it could work. So that
- 22:17Speaker 3: was one like foundational piece that I don't know if
- 22:19Speaker 3: every lead has we really are like, hey, this is
- 22:22Speaker 3: a good opportunity for us to find somebody or at
- 22:26Speaker 3: least to expand what we thought we wanted in somebody. Okay,
- 22:30Speaker 3: So that was the foundation. The second piece was that
- 22:33Speaker 3: both Joey and I number one was crazy. We were
- 22:36Speaker 3: talking about this in Orlando. The number one thing we
- 22:39Speaker 3: were most concerned about and most focused on, and I
- 22:43Speaker 3: would tell every lead to do the same, would be
- 22:45Speaker 3: that the people that signed up for it left being
- 22:48Speaker 3: happy that they did. It might not find love, but
- 22:51Speaker 3: they were glad that they came, They were glad that
- 22:52Speaker 3: they went through it, that they their life wasn't ruined
- 22:55Speaker 3: because of this experience that they signed up for, and
- 22:59Speaker 3: that the leak kind of was the filter which a
- 23:01Speaker 3: lot of our decisions were made. A lot of the
- 23:03Speaker 3: conversations were had was I want you to be able
- 23:06Speaker 3: to get your story out there because I want people
- 23:07Speaker 3: to know you better, and I want to know you better.
- 23:10Speaker 3: So let's talk as much as we can in the
- 23:12Speaker 3: environment that we have. Let's talk, Let's share, let me
- 23:15Speaker 3: ask the questions that are needed to be asked so
- 23:16Speaker 3: that people can understand you better and I can get
- 23:18Speaker 3: to know you better, and then as a result, it
- 23:21Speaker 3: kind of forces the lead to process those stories externally
- 23:26Speaker 3: on a camera, and I think the viewers end up
- 23:29Speaker 3: getting know the cast better because the leads know the
- 23:32Speaker 3: cast better and they can explain it better. And I
- 23:35Speaker 3: do think that's one thing we had in common that
- 23:40Speaker 3: maybe separated us or differentiated us from others, was just
- 23:43Speaker 3: that mindset of we want to know the cast really
- 23:46Speaker 3: well and is whatever time we have with them. And
- 23:49Speaker 3: as a result, the viewers got to know them really
- 23:50Speaker 3: well too, because we were getting things out of them
- 23:54Speaker 3: that other leads maybe wouldn't.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I totally agree with you. There, so well thought out.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Then well, goodness, Well, Ashley, I do have a question
- 24:03Speaker 3: for you, and I know we're going to be closing
- 24:05Speaker 3: out here. Yeah, one last one here for you, And
- 24:08Speaker 3: then if any of these others that the listeners wrote
- 24:10Speaker 3: in you're interested in asking me, we can. It's a
- 24:15Speaker 3: big question. Once your honest thoughts. OK, So I need
- 24:18Speaker 3: to take a deep breath and get into your honest
- 24:20Speaker 3: mode without fear of any confrontation. Yeah, confrontation. Do you
- 24:26Speaker 3: think Jason and Kelly make a good couple?
- 24:30Speaker 2: Absolutely not?
- 24:31Speaker 3: Why?
- 24:34Speaker 2: I don't know, No, you.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Know, you know why, Like you don't have to, don't
- 24:43Speaker 3: dig a hole on somebody's character right now, don't throw
- 24:47Speaker 3: them under the bus. But when you think about Jason
- 24:51Speaker 3: and Kelly together, we just got to talk to Kelly
- 24:55Speaker 3: in one of the most raw, authentic, vulnerable interviews we've
- 24:58Speaker 3: ever done, where our hearts were torn, her her story
- 25:03Speaker 3: was shared, and we're like, Kelly, we want nothing but
- 25:06Speaker 3: good things to come your way. So if that's the
- 25:08Speaker 3: bucket that we're keeping Kelly in and you bring in Jason,
- 25:13Speaker 3: why doesn't that relationship work.
- 25:16Speaker 2: I feel like both of them should probably maybe date
- 25:20Speaker 2: somebody like a little bit quieter right now, because they
- 25:24Speaker 2: both have had very public relationships and like there's not
- 25:27Speaker 2: a problem with that at all. But I think maybe
- 25:30Speaker 2: Kelly being the place that she is in right now,
- 25:33Speaker 2: you know, she's very open about grieving the loss of
- 25:36Speaker 2: her father in December, and I think that she just
- 25:39Speaker 2: needs somebody like simple, not like simple minded, you know,
- 25:43Speaker 2: but like calm. And I think that Jason is just
- 25:47Speaker 2: too out there right now, like he's everywhere.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's a great point, and I think
- 25:54Speaker 3: you're spot on, and it was a very nice way
- 25:56Speaker 3: of saying this, I think both of them are huge personalities,
- 26:02Speaker 3: and they're very much in the world right now. On
- 26:06Speaker 3: social media, especially, Jason is post often strategically. It's what
- 26:11Speaker 3: he does for work, like he posts strategically often. And
- 26:15Speaker 3: it feels like two big personalities would have a hard
- 26:18Speaker 3: time dating because what ends up happening is like the
- 26:22Speaker 3: Cat in Jason scenario, where their relationship becomes a social
- 26:26Speaker 3: media like front, and that their relationship becomes so social
- 26:31Speaker 3: media focused that the intimacy that needs to exist within
- 26:36Speaker 3: relationships is taken away because no time is private. Rachel
- 26:40Speaker 3: Kocconnell says it right. Every time they went to dinner,
- 26:43Speaker 3: what did Matt do? He was filming the dinner. At
- 26:46Speaker 3: some point that becomes unhealthy. And so what happens I
- 26:50Speaker 3: think in these relationships with huge personalities like the two
- 26:53Speaker 3: of them are, is they need the ying to their yang.
- 26:56Speaker 3: They need somebody that can support and stand back and
- 27:00Speaker 3: they can do their thing while the other person is
- 27:03Speaker 3: doing their thing, and that I think those two things
- 27:06Speaker 3: mesh better than the two of them trying to be
- 27:09Speaker 3: so loud, so proud, and so out there because that's
- 27:13Speaker 3: who they both are. I think that's a mix for
- 27:16Speaker 3: a very unhealthy relationship.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Yeah, a little yin yang there. Alrighty well, guys, thank
- 27:22Speaker 2: you so much for joining us. We'll be back later
- 27:25Speaker 2: this week with headlines and yeah, headlines and anything else
- 27:30Speaker 2: we can tease.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Yeah, we're gonna talk about Gabby. We're gonna talk about
- 27:33Speaker 3: the Caitlin Bristow scenario in more detail. We're going to
- 27:39Speaker 3: be yeah, the Gabby and Clayton thing that just happened
- 27:42Speaker 3: on a recent podcast. Will also be sharing some updates
- 27:46Speaker 3: and relationships along with any more information we have on
- 27:50Speaker 3: this Tyler Cameron grant Ellis drama. So there is some
- 27:54Speaker 3: big headline sitting out there that we're going to be
- 27:56Speaker 3: talking about, breaking down and possibly bringing on some guests
- 28:00Speaker 3: to speak with us about. Hey, until next time, I've
- 28:02Speaker 3: been Ben, I've been Ashley.
