- 0:00[SPEAKER_02]: hashtag, no music, no intro.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_02]: We are back.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_02]: And it's that time again.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_02]: The Saints block party podcast brought to you, presented by precious works, LLC.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_02]: Any business website needs reach out to our guy, but John, he will hook you up with a business website.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_02]: And it is time y'all.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_02]: It is time.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_02]: We have Matt Harman reception, perception, Yahoo, extraordinary.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_02]: uh, football three, three, one, a fantasy forecast, anything that you can think of Matt Harman is on top of it.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_02]: Joining the same spot party podcast to talk about the upcoming NFL draft, right receivers, going to be another conversational course of lava, because we always seem that always have to have a conversational course of lava, when Matt comes on, uh, thank you so much for coming on and joining us, Matt, uh, for I think you're third year in a row, we really appreciate it.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: No doubt happy to do it.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: Guys, it's going to be fun.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think we might actually get the Saints taken some of these wide receivers here.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: That was should be a fun conversation, but yeah, man, it's been a fun off season so far and it's been a fun draft season.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: I always have the mixed feeling right now about like my God, I'm ready for the draft to be here, but also like I need
- 1:22[SPEAKER_02]: How many more, I was going to ask how many more receivers do you have left to chart?
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: My goal this year and my goal every year is to beat the previous number that I had on the site.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: So last year, I think it was 27.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: So this year I've just been saying like third, we're going to do 30, we'll have 30 up on the site.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: So I still have two more drops left.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: I dropped new profiles every Monday morning.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll have one more on Monday and then the day of the draft, I'll have the rookie round up, which is kind of a group of like mini samples of players to kind of round up the whole thing.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: nobody interesting in that in that rookie round of last year, probably the most interesting guy was like Pat Bryant, who you know had a couple of moments for the Broncos, whatever, but you know, a few year in the 23 class, Pook and a Coo was in that.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: It was like, okay, so sometimes it really matters and that rookie round of other times, yeah, it's a hit or miss article.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I got about like 10 guys left.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: So it should be good.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: I saw something like, I was just looking at the site early.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, you already done them.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: I already done like 10 hers and the couple of guys I was looking for that aren't there yet.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm like, God, damn, that's just a lot of work, man.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: This is a lot of work.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: We know me and Adam, we do like a prospect on the week every weekend, just one prospect and that is work.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's work and we, me and him were just looking at like six games at most.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: of a player and that's just one player.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: So I can only imagine and like you actually like, you know, watching every route and chart everything, just that that can be like, you know what, I quit.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like I just, I would do a little bit more like.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, before before we give me too much praise here, you know, I'm not working on the railroad, you know, I'm I feel it, it could be much worse, it could be a lot worse.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really know what else I would be doing if it wasn't for this.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm very, I'm very grateful, very happy to chart.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: you know, a dishonest dribbling Ole Miss, you know, Josh Cameron at Baylor, how many how many in routes can we chart, you know, from a guy aligned and I was looking for this dribbling.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: I was looking for this dribbling.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: Jay, I, dribbling's almost done.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: So we can go to the sneak preview tonight.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: So we can, we can, we can talk about that.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_02]: Just want to give some also love just to you and just how far reception perceptions grown over the years and just everything.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: I know, I just saw
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: You know, social media recently that you were in seeing you doing like a presentation and Virginia just how just reflecting all of that how far you've come with something that you've created and now such a huge part of like not just a draft cycle, but just like the NFL in general.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, man, it's funny.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think I got asked during that session.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's seeing you what's been like the most surprising thing, throughout the course of your career, but one of the students asked me, I said, man, can I say everything?
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: Can I say everything has been surprising?
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't think I could have really imagined any of this.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, this one of the things like one opportunity, least to another, you just got to be open to everything.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, man, I'm very grateful that people
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm grateful people care about this at all.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: This was kind of a reception perceptual is a random idea that I had essentially to answer the question that I had about football, which was like, how can we quantify qualitative performance from wide receivers away from the ball?
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I joked a lot with those students there at CNU that I am not doing anything that is related to the degree that I got in that record.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: from like a from a career space standpoint, you know, is a sociology undergrad and, and what was it like?
- 5:08[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't know that.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I wanted to go get up my PhD in social theory and like, I kind of continue the work I was doing as an undergrad, obviously, did not end up doing that.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: But while I, I'm not doing anything in my career field, a lot of the skills of like, all right, how do we chart all this data and try to quantify, like I said, qualitative things, a lot of those skills I'm still using today.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: You never know what's going to happen, right?
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: You never know what's going to happen.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: I've been very grateful to have this all these opportunities.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: No, man, we're going to test to it just what our podcast has just been, you know, six years and a couple of days will be six, four years.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: So it's just crazy how this thing works.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, diving into saints and why we see it, because it feels like this is finally the year where the saints will address weapons with something that the media and
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: down for years, you know, that, you know, that go back to Sean Peyton years.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Sean Peyton when he would just roll with these like late round or undrafted free agents, stuff like that.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: Finally, it looks like they're going to do that.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: They've been bringing working out a ton of white receivers.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: They're picking a look at these.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: And these are our receiver.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_02]: That they've drafted 06 in 20 years.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I guess not counting this upcoming draft years.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_02]: So I guess 19 years.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_02]: They have drafted 13 right receivers.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_02]: Now, this doesn't include, like, undrafted fragrance finds, like Lance Moore, like Rashichi heat.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: But this is the list.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: This is the list that the Saints have drafted.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_02]: And Titans even worse, Titans for within going on 19 years.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: Really?
- 6:44[SPEAKER_02]: Four.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_02]: Four.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_02]: Four.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: Four.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: Matt.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: four, so like, well, if this is they never have any picks, but, you know, now that's part of it, you're part of it, but still.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_02]: And then part of it, too, just looking at the list is like, man, like, sometimes with, like, typically if they draft right receivers, like, it seems to be like in their in their wheeled house, where they typically are they select in some type of way, like, good player.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_02]: So I, I, I came prepared for this episode because I wanted to have my, the graphics and everything, but just as Ryan was, like,
- 7:16[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I just want to start with like the fit of, uh, I guess you could say like the top top three.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_02]: Um, or I know, I know Tyson may be a little lower for you, but lemon, taste, Tyson.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: What like just fit wise who like excites you the most potentially being in the same's office with killing more a lot of big and Tyler shock.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, honestly, any of those guys would excite me.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think the reason that I would be specifically interested in tape and lemon is for two totally different reasons.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: One, Carnotate, I think fits all 32 NFL offenses.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: which is why I've had him as my top ranked receiver of this draft class.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a chance guys like Tyson or Eden Lemon could have higher production ceilings, but the reality is like whether you're one of these more condensed offenses where you know you're kind of bringing guys closer into the offensive line in terms of the receivers or you're
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: playing at a heavy personnel package or you're more of a spread out three plus receiver spread and shred type teams.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody because of the rules of the sport needs someone to line up outside on the ball and you'd like for that guy to be able to beat press man coverage and guess what Carnal Tate does he does that so all 32 NFL offensive theoretically obviously divorcing yourself of like the players that currently have everybody has a need for a player like that so
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: I would rank him as wide receiver one in the class because of that.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think New Orleans could use a player like that to especially help maximize Chris O'Lave even more.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: They did a great job kind of doing the stuff that we wanted to see.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: You're right.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: We talk about O'Lave every year.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: We'll have more of a conversation about him.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: But part of the reason that we got a really good season out of him last year is that they were able to detach him from the formation and move him across the field to get matchups, especially Pan with Spencer Rattler was there.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: quick out, quick out, quick out, quick out, quick out, over and over and over again.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of stick routes and you need in order to do that.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: If you're using him at pre-snap motion or motion at the staff, you need someone to be on the ball.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: Tate could be that guy.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: The thing that would be exciting about lemon is that
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: he would allow you to kind of mix and match with a lot of it in that way because I think lemon could end up being the most productive receiver from this class but he needs the right fit because he is probably not a slot only but a slot mostly player and because New Orleans really does like I really like the way that offense is designed I like how they spread things out they would give him the opportunities that he needs to be a really productive player so either of those two guys Tyson I do think like
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'd rather him go to a team that I think truly needs like a Z receiver.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'm worried that because he's six to over 200 pounds, he's going to get typecasted as an X, but I think his profile just really fits much more cleanly as a Z receiver that moves around.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: I do think there's a little bit of redundancy there with what Chris does for this team.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's fascinating.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like Cardinal T is my favorite Saint's pick, but lemon is like my favorite Barbara Seaver.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: You miss draft at least my number one.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: Cause when you just watch lemon early, it's just like,
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: He's gonna be productive in a league, man.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, just the way the league functions right now, the way defensive the plan, all the own stuff they're doing.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, this guy is gonna catch at least 60 to 70 balls and be productive.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: But take every time I watch him, it's just so smooth and effortless.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: And the way he catches, like he actually catches the ball, has great hands and tacit hands.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: And it's funny, it's funny what I've been trying
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: figure out it seems like everybody's kind of pigeonholing him into like this downfield like deep threat big deep threat which he's you know he was great at last year but if you look at like 2024 on the chip Kelly he was doing like some great sideline stuff working over the middle uh stuff like that I just feel like there's more to take than I think
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: Ohio State used them, you know, throughout his career because he's playing next to a demon.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: Last year he's playing next to a demon and a booker, so it's like, you know, you understand it, but
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I feel like there's more to him.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I was thinking, if he was on like Arizona last year, I mean, a year before last where Ted was playing.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: And if he replaced Ted with him with Cardinal Tate, would the production be the same?
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think the production would be kind of the same.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, but that's just a projection.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: But I just wanted like, as far as like Tate, the question seems to be like, can't he be that guy?
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: Can't he be that number one guy?
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, like, what do you think?
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I have stack rankings on the site.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like multiple classes stacked against each other.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I have Tate and T-Mac, Teteromic Mill and like right next to each other.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: So pretty much like the same to me.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, T-Mac was a guy that was able to be a number one receiver for the Panthers.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think you want more from him than what he, I mean,
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: Great great rookie or he was off as a rookie the year.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying he was bad by any means, but obviously He's a rookie you want him to improve going forward So I think that's the type of player you could get here with Carl Tate and yeah, it's a great point like It feels like this happens every few years with the Ohio State guys Well, what he was sharing the field with this guy was sharing the field with that guy was nothing These players can do about that and like they've all except the guy who was supposed to be the best one of them all like Margaret Harrison
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they've all kind of been great.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: They've all been really good.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: Even back in the day, this was a knock with Michael Thomas when he got drafted by the Saints, like the production wasn't really there, but like we saw what he became in the NFL, really kind of ahead of his time as a, I'm breaking, yeah, in breaking master that like big receiver position, like there's a lot of guys in that family of wide receivers, one of the players we might talk about here, that could be a first round pick, but anyways, yeah, Tade, I think could be a number one in time,
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: Look at what receivers are making on the open market.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, no disrespect to these players, but, you know, Romeo Dobbs getting like 17 plus million, Juan Deo, Robinson make it 17 plus million.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you get, um, you draft Carnell Tate, like, theoretically, eighth overall, which is with Teteromic Millen was eighth overall last year, just under eight million dollars a year.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, guys like Josh Palmer, Johan Dawtson are making more money.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: I like I still got my candle went for John dots and I'd like to see him have a good year.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, come on.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like John dots is making more money on a per year basis than Tettoro Make Mill and just under $7 million a year.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: So it's a really big value.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: Even if he doesn't become an alpha receiver to take that guy.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: Even if it's as high as eighth overall.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_02]: What is so fascinating to me is.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_02]: Two of the players I, and we reported this on our Patreon only episode, and I'll set out now that receiver-wise that are in their cloud is lemon and Tyson.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: And Ryan and I have been trying to figure out, like, in what this, like, not that they don't like carnellate, but if they're in love with the idea of him at eight, as opposed to maybe like a McKay lemon,
- 14:24[SPEAKER_02]: I would love, I would love tape at eight, I would love my Kylimin at eight.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think the lemon fit is just so interesting, just in the way that he wins.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_02]: And also how he could be deployed in the office with Kellon, especially with Tyler Schuch and what he does and how he excels in terms of doing the ball over the middle of the field, the crossing routes.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's where Schuch really likes to throw the ball and that's where lemon makes his money.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not saying that he's
- 14:51[SPEAKER_02]: who couldn't have cool, but when we broke down McCy and Lemon in terms of our prospect of the week episode, it just, the way he won reminded me so much of how Pooca wins in the league, just can contact the catches, cross the metal, and just able to get open.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_02]: But you have this, the size on him.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_02]: So just for, you know, just listeners and viewers, just over all thoughts of McCy and Lemon in general.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think again, the, just to stick on the Saints point real quick, like I think the reason that he's so interesting with this team is just like there's a proof of concept and I would understand why they would like him because
- 15:34[SPEAKER_00]: could play all three receiver positions, dominates all three receiver position, but they did so much with him as a slot base player in Collin Moore's offense.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: And like you're just essentially getting like a guy who's who's got a clearly win from the slot.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think it would be so interesting.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_00]: Especially when you're doing like fantasy content, you know, two years like let's say a lot of it gets extended by the team They draft him Lemon eighth overall a coup who's getting more targets in that scenario.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to be some fun like debates and discussions because I think we saw a lot with like the bet Some of the best stuff that shook did to me in addition to launching it over the middle and lemon fits so perfectly there like you mentioned my evaluation of him is just a great great zone beater He can win it
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: and routes over the middle of the field.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: He can work out breakers as well.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_00]: He does it all in that way.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: He fits in that archetype that's dominating the league now.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's a great fit with Chuck.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: But also, again, not to keep spoiling the crystal out of it, discussion, but like, man, Chuck really showed like big boy quarterback stuff to like, plan his foot on the far hash and launch it outside the numbers.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that might be if I'm guessing why they might prefer a guy like Tyson or lemon to take, that's theoretically what Tate will bring you.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, well, maybe we already have that guy, you know, vertical receiver that they do more stuff with a lot of it than just that.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: But like, he's already kind of our deep outside the numbers player.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: We need someone to operate more areas.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: I obviously would be a great fit there.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's a big part of it.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: Big point of it, big point because one thing about as much as we love a lot of it,
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: He's not like a yak monster.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: He's not take a tackle breaker.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: He's just not.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: He's just, and there were a lot of plays last year, even last year when he had a real great season, it was like, why are we, why do we keep doing this?
- 17:17[SPEAKER_01]: Why do we keep throwing these little short quick outs?
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and you get's pop in the early in the season, they were doing a lot of these little bubble screens where he's just getting blown up in the backfield and stuff.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, please, I remember one against the Panthers, like I remember doing charting games of him in season.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: It was rough.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: So like to me, like some friends would be like, oh, we really need like another 5-11, 6-foot-wire receiver.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: We already had that with a lot of them.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like lemon is like, he's not a lot of, like he's a very different wire receiver.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: He even noted like have similar measurements, I guess.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: But I guess moving on.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: to some of the next group of wireless secrets.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: One of your guys, you say, this is your guy.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I love this guy too.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people are respect love this guy.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_01]: Casey, you can set your home.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody I respect love him.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I just...
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: take a bad evening.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm not crazy.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm taking him at it.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: That's just how he's just a fun plan.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's like Reggie Bush.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'd say he's like Reggie Bush, but like I still draft Reggie Bush two overall, even though he didn't have like the career people thought he was.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: He's just so fun, man.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_01]: And KC, KC conception on just like that from him.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's my receiver too in this class, but I hate I just love this player and look I know he's got catch point issues.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: I know he had a high drop rate.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_00]: Number one, if like that's the first thing you're bringing up about a player.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think you really miss in the force for the trees.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_00]: Who's the last wide receiver?
- 18:47[SPEAKER_00]: You can remember that truly.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_00]: like fell out of the league or really failed because of drops.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_00]: Usually it's if they drop the football ton and they get kind of wash out of the league.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's like they couldn't do anything else.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_00]: And that's that's the thing.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: Casey Conception does everything else at a high, high, high, high level.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we're talking about a player who is the best separator in the class.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_00]: 90 second percentile success rate versus man coverage in research and perception, best in this class, best success rate versus press.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, he's five or he's, but about six foot, 196 pounds.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_00]: He smokes press coverage at all three levels of the field separates deep short, intermediate, great with the ball on his hands.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: He's an awesome kicker turner proof of concept of that.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_00]: And he is one of the players and I understand like this really can irritate fans in this way.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_00]: But to me, it also is a proof of concept that like he does,
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: have the ball tracking ability at him.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_00]: He definitely drops the easy ones, but he makes the hard ones.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he's got a high drop rate, but a high contested catch rate, which again, it's irritating.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_00]: You're like,
- 19:49[SPEAKER_00]: why don't you do that all the time like but uh... but sometimes i think it's like he claps at the ball sometimes it's a focus issue those do need to be corrected but man if it wasn't for that like i wave him into like the tier one of what why we're super prospect so uh... it was a you know that some way was it like is it like a tent tent tent getting used to have like bad drops we back in a day
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: But then, again, I turned out he kind of turned this career around and became like a really good way I was seeing.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: We was never like a number one or nothing like that.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: But I guess we've seen plenty of times guys come in and have those drop negatives that just they end up fine.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like they turn out just fine.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Malik named dropped a lot of footballs his rookie year and I love and like this is after my own heart So like I do do get that but at the same time he said he's like, hey, yeah I dropped the football just stroked me again like I'll catch it the next
- 20:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's like that's that's good when you have that mindset and you have that confidence because I think when it can be bad for guys Just when it starts to spiral and I think a guy that is one of those examples is like Dante the in wicks with the packers Who just got traded with the Eagles but like he clearly had an opportunity his second year
- 21:01[SPEAKER_00]: When Christian Watson got hurt to play a lot for the packers after having a really nice rookie year with really promising efficiency metrics and some good reception perception success rates too, you started to see like when he started to drop the football, you won bad game and then it became like another bad game and then he started like not running his routes with the same confidence and like that's when it can really wear on a player.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_00]: I do kind of like, and maybe this is just total narrative base.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_00]: I like that KC is number one.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_00]: You get great character reports on him from Texas A&M.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like he came in there and immediately established himself as a leader.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: I like that he's out there, you know, saying like, yeah, I'm trying to be an inspiration to people that have a stutter, like a speech issue, like he does.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_00]: That was like, all right, guys got to be pretty damn confident to do that.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully we can remain confident in his hands.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_00]: We cannot have one of those type of issues.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, he's, it's funny.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_02]: I was listening to, to 40th of the free agency on a long LA commute this morning.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_02]: And the way that, and it was with me, uh, DJ and Greg Rodenthal and Greg had made, uh, just in how,
- 22:05[SPEAKER_02]: How easily open Casey conception gets open remind him of personal lobby out of Ohio state and that's so yeah I ran it because I was like man.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_02]: I was actually thinking and I don't and I don't think the things we go that route It made me because they feel like it may be too dimplic the duplicative But he's just such a fun and exciting player going speaking of like fun and exciting players that is more potential There is this ongoing thing Matt
- 22:30[SPEAKER_02]: on St. Twitter, just in the Saints world, that the Saints should not take any right receivers at eight, maybe not even in the second round, because they traded for Jalen Polk.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_02]: They added prey Palmer, and we need to see what they had.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_02]: Like we don't need receivers.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: We have prey Palmer.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: We have Jalen.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not making any of this up.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not this, I'm not perfectly.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: This is a whole thing that we've been dealing with.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: But I do want to focus on the Jalen Polk aspect of things because I know you charted him, even after rookie season, I know.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_02]: So the same straighter for him during the season last year, I think they gave the Patriots like a 7th when he was on IR, so he didn't play it down for the same thing.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_02]: Could you like I'm just trying to, is there anything to maybe squint and maybe get excited about about Polk just in the sense that he may be
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: by myself some time to spiritually prepare to answer that question.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_00]: Not to give, I, you know, I load to give Greg any credit here, but it is fun.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: You mentioned that KC conception comparison with Chris Alavey.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm just looking at their reception perception success rates is prospects.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: KC 78.3% against man, Chris Alavey 78%.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: Success rate for zone 83.2 for KC.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: Chris, a lot of 83.1, identical, success rate versus press 77.6, Chris, a lot of a 76.1, so like we're talking about with it.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, damn, Greg got this way.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_00]: on the money on the money good stuff there from from Greg knows so now I've prepared by self-dance of the jail and poll question.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: Did you see what a wolf were you looking at?
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: Man, I'm checking out this website, this site is cheese bro.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: In the 21st century, how do you have a crappy website?

- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: He also keeps it up to date and helps us anytime we want to add something new like a farm or the prospect magic tool that we did for the NFL traffic.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's like having your own personal developer, just a text I'll call it away.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: Pressure's work says work with everyone from small businesses to large firms.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: so no job is too big or too small.

- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: Make sure to tell him
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: Did you see him in shock-fishing together though?
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: I did.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's a great himself.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: We're like, they love him.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: They love him in the building.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I like to hear that because I will admit, I am still mystified about how his rookie season went because, let me say, in one sense, the Patriots I do think completely misused him and set him up to fail his rookie year.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_00]: Because,
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I tried to jail and poke as you mentioned as a prospect.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: And then, charting him as a rookie, I'm like, what the hell are they doing with this guy?
- 26:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's not even one thing where like, sometimes I have my pet theories with players, like Elijah Saratza guy this year that I'm, I want him to move from the outside on ball player to be like a big, like a power slot, like a Pat Bryant, like a Marcus Colston with the Saints.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_00]: And I want, that's like a pet theory though, right?
- 26:39[SPEAKER_00]: With jail and poke,
- 26:40[SPEAKER_00]: they used him as a rookie as the outside X receiver running like go routes and that's not even what he did in college like in college that was Roma dunes is the X receiver Washington like Polk was this kind of 35% slot player 3040% slot player but was mostly a Z and like a dirty work guy going over the middle beating zone running in breaking routes deeper out patterns and it's like they didn't even do any of that stuff at all so there's no question that he was set up to fail
- 27:10[SPEAKER_00]: The other thing that was completely mystifying was that when watching Polk as a prostitute was like, this guy is a great blocker and he might have the best hands in the class.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_00]: And then he gets to NFL's rookie, can't catch a thing.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_00]: And he is blocking sucks.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it was weird, but obviously there was something up with him in the Patriots.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_00]: So it's good to hear that there's, that he's ingraining himself into the culture neurons because yeah, like, this is a good, this is a good take to say on the podcast.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I wouldn't tweet this, but I'm like, I, like, still have the tiniest title.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you got to go under the couch cushion, like deep under there and be like, I got some jail and Polk stock.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's not about brokerage anymore.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: Um, it's like deep under the couch cushion, I would say.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: No, I think there's a segment of Saints fans that will love to you that because they are like True believers in Pope and there's nothing I'm a believer.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like him.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_00]: I just like can we see him first Well, yeah, that he exists all that being said like there's no way that that polka I mean tray Palmer Or even like Valeigh who I like but yeah, I got caught in this too I was tweeting about like the Saints have just so much opportunity to add
- 28:26[SPEAKER_00]: Okay So I don't know maybe one of you guys retweeted me or something, but that came in my mentions at one point I was like wait a second Well, I think they like could be a nice three and I I mean, but like you show me a game log read like 60 yards and 90 yards And then I was like two games.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't let
- 28:43[SPEAKER_00]: These guys are these guys are nice players that I think could fit the what they're clearly been looking for in this room, which is like size and physicality and and guys to play Z and big power slot players sure it wouldn't stop me from adding like a premium player at the position in the either of the first three rounds honestly.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's the size part is so key because last year.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: If, if Teterrow was there at nine, they would have taken them over banks, and then they really wanted to draft Isaac Tesla on the third round, and the Lions jumped them for the first last love was around three.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, around three.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: They even, they've been trying to add sides at the right receiver position for so long, but I want to just take a brief second, just to talk about the Crystal Lobby discourse.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: Coming off his second coming off a season where he was a second team all pro by far probably his best season of his career since since he got drafted and there's still a segment of like the same of Saints fandom that either Doesn't want him to be extended or potentially would be okay with the idea of him being traded.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_02]: What did you see from Chris and I'm this is just not for like I'm not I'm not going to put my taking about you and it's like what did you see from Chris Olabe last season.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I thought it's all what I've always seen with him, which is like really good route runner, extremely explosive, can win it all three levels, awesome separator.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he played with a lot more confidence last year.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I think when we're talking, and obviously that has a lot to do with the concussions and everything, you know, he talked openly about that.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's, there's a lot to be said about a player that really considered walking away from the game and was skin.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_00]: What, you know, all the things he talked about, you, anybody listens to his podcast, does this, of course.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, I thought that was really key for him.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_00]: I thought you'd play with a lot more confidence, especially in the back half of the year.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, look, you and I, we've, we've three of us have talked about his connection or lack their love with Derek Carr for many, many, you know, podcasts to see him.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think have great chemistry with both, yes.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it had really good chemistry with Spencer Rattler on a lot of those like quick outs that we were talking about, um, then especially then like the throws over the middle of the field that really Rattler wasn't as good as accessing, then shut comes in and they have really good timing and really good chemistry at all levels of the field to me.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: I thought Chris will have had a great season last year.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's the question is like,
- 31:08[SPEAKER_00]: Where do you rank him among league, like I throughout the course of the league right like James Cohen I got into this on on on reception perception to show where he's like yeah we saw him be good last year but can can we see him be great I was like I think we saw him be great last year.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: Can he access like an elite ceiling?
- 31:27[SPEAKER_00]: Most guys don't access an elite ceiling.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_00]: I got it.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_00]: Most guys don't.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's why it's a special word elite.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's why there's probably like five, six of them.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_00]: Do I think he's in that five, six intercircle?
- 31:39[SPEAKER_00]: Probably not, but I think he's like a tier two at worst top a tier three type receiver in the league, which is a guy that can be a number one and you can funnel the whole thing through.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he's capable of being that guy.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_00]: Really, I know he's an awesome last year.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: I agree, and I think what I try to tell people is like, well, it's this kind of question, like, is he a real number one and he's here real number one?
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, he's the same to number one where I receive.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_01]: Whether you want him to be a number, he's the same to number one where I receive.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_01]: He's the go to guy.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's the guy that Tyler shook looks for it, medically and beatably after the snap.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's who, well, I thought Kelly Moore did a good job of really accessing all the different skill sets that he has instead of just using them as like a downhill receiver or whatever they use them everywhere.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm just like, you know, pay the man, you know what I'm saying?
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and I think they will.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: I know they will pay them how much that's what a lot of the discord is discourses about, you know, is he worth 35 million?
- 32:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, man, I don't know, man.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like, why was he was just getting back, man?
- 32:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's like there's nothing you could do about it.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: Hey!
- 32:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and again, okay, you're going to trade him then what then what you got to replace them like that and then you got it and then you got to hope that One of these guy, I mean, like which I'm a $35 million like DK Metcalf is making $32 million.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_00]: I will take Chris Alave over DK Metcalf a hundred times out of a hundred.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like that's just where the market is right now.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_00]: You get good players.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_00]: You pay good players and you keep them, okay?
- 33:14[SPEAKER_00]: Um, because otherwise in all right, you take Carnotate 8th overall or something like that and then I guess you can do the Jalen Polk truthorism.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I like that.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_00]: That's lower those those type of guys.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's like I'm again, I'm totally for the truthorism with Jalen Polk and like I'm quietly admitting that like I'm I'm hoping it works out.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like I'm I'm I'm silently with you guys out there, but you want that to be gravy.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you want that to be like man.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_00]: What if
- 33:42[SPEAKER_00]: What if we have Chris O'Lave and we have McIleman and Veilay is like a cool third receiver and what if Jayland Polka ends up being good right?
- 33:52[SPEAKER_00]: That would be awesome instead like geez.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_00]: We really need Jayland Polk to be good.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_00]: Like I Yeah, that's not where you want to be.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_02]: It isn't it all I'm gonna go completely opposite direction You speak a lot you have you host a fantasy podcast I can't escape the idea
- 34:10[SPEAKER_02]: that maybe on draft night, there may be a slip for Notre Dame running back during my love.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_02]: And if he gets past the commanders at seven, seeing their eight, I think there's a potentially good possibility that the team would want to pair him with Travis HN.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_02]: Just throw it out there Matt.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_02]: Just throw it out there.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_00]: Ben, I hope you're wrong.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_02]: I know, because I could hear the fancy ball person in you just become so disgusted.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_02]: I hear it.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's not even, it's not even that I would be disgusted.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, oh my god, now I'm going to have to deal with like, you know, everybody whining about this and like we have to talk about it like that.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I want to talk about the potential on just unfilled football, football tactics of
- 35:07[SPEAKER_02]: Does it make sense and in the way I look I've looked at it and I've been thinking about this well because I've heard the Saints have kind of been like a 180 on love as a prospect where I think coming into the job process they were like he's like a mid-round first round like right round running back a little in and first round but I think they then started like seeing like what the whole class look like and they're like oh shit like he's okay okay he's he's that dude
- 35:34[SPEAKER_02]: The reason I'd be okay with it is that a big part of that is them signing David Edwards and free agency to secure the left guard spot.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_02]: You have your book and tacos with banks and forwaga McCoy, you're going to get six to eight games out of and then we're Reese's obviously kind of like the black hold though at right guard.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_02]: But like this wouldn't be a asian ginti going to the Las Vegas Raiders line type of situation.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_02]: And I could just see this vision of Kellin Moore wanting to make the game easy for Tyler Shuck and just giving him an insanely strong run game with love, with a chant.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_02]: And then you can use Tyler, Tyler, our shimmie, shucks legs as well and create a just very dominant run game towards defense.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_02]: Does it make sense to you if they were to go that route?
- 36:20[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I think it's too much.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's too cute.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_00]: I just like, I think they're not.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_00]: There, your 100% right, it's a better ecosystem than when Ash and Jenty walked into last year.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_00]: It really couldn't really get worse than when Ash and Jenty walked into last year.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_00]: It was, it didn't look great on paper and it was worse once the game started because you're like, oh, boys, way too many cooks in this kitchen.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_00]: One of them is the coach's son, and they were like, he shouldn't even let the netbo baby shouldn't have this offensive line coach job.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, that was a big problem, but I think for New Orleans, they're not quite there from the team build perspective.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_00]: You're picking 8th overall.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like you did earn that 8th overall pick.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think you got to look for for a more premium position.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_00]: Especially after you just used resources to get a chance of building because like, you know, now you're going to irritate not way.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure he could be a good soldier about it.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_00]: And him and love would be good together.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_00]: But like, you kind of then you've already not going to get bang for your buck for your for one of these guys and probably not the guy that you just paid real money to.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_00]: So it's still too much to me.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_00]: Plus I also think that like,
- 37:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what you guys have heard, but I would say it's like if love is there at seven ninety five percent chance they turn that car the washing turns that car.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I'll give it ninety five percent to be conservative.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_01]: No question about no question about it.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's just interesting to think about it if he's there.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, pre pre a chance signing.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_00]: It would have been, yeah, I thought that would have been such an awesome spot.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_00]: I just think that now it's probably, you know, had on the hat resources wise, but yeah, Jeremiah loves awesome.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_00]: And he would bring a, especially again, an offense that does spread it out like these guys do in New Orleans and is very, you know, there's, there's a lot of old school in a hand, but also some of the new school, like moving it up, moving guys around pre-saving everything.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_00]: You could create a lot of mismatches with a guy like Jeremiah Lovin, like Lee came out of the backfield.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's like a plus plus plus plus, plus receiver.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, he is.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_00]: So he would be incredible in this scheme.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_00]: I just think from a resource perspective, and maybe there's like 10% of the fantasy.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: There it is.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_02]: uh... anything else you i have one more for from out and then you said you good uh... let's talk about the the the christ bell of it all okay yes kind of
- 38:47[SPEAKER_02]: There is not it started at the combine and then it continued at his pro day.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_02]: I have no and it's this is a good thing for like if you're a Saints fan like I love that this is happening.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think I've ever seen a player A prospect so openly Politicking and campaigning to be drafted by the Saints like he said it at the pro day.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_02]: He said at the combine that he's
- 39:08[SPEAKER_02]: talent, talent, Tyler Schuck, make sure I get to New Orleans, then Tyler Schuck is talking about it.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_02]: Like at this point, like they've talked about it so much who wouldn't surprise me if like a team jumped the Saints in a head of 42 potentially to take Chris Bell.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_02]: But him.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_02]: as a as a prospect he's coming off the ACL he played with Tyler shook at Louisville um... he wasn't Miller Moss like he could tell yeah he couldn't stand it that's what was gonna say that was what by first thing i was gonna ask you guys like how much of that of you have you noticed because like that's one of those like
- 39:41[SPEAKER_00]: Man, you didn't know what you had until you lost.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_00]: He's getting, he's getting, he's getting a Chris Bells get out of a toxic relationship and he's looking back and like, he's actually with his ex, he's being like, he's looking good on Instagram, you know what I'm saying like, I'm like, I'm like, I get to New Orleans.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I get that part of it.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_02]: And I know that even before the politics and I know it's like Tim very early in the process,
- 40:09[SPEAKER_02]: What is, what is, what is, what is Chris Brawl potentially would bring to the office?
- 40:14[SPEAKER_02]: If the Saints ordered draft and they don't get snipe for him, what potentially could he bring to the Saints offense?
- 40:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think he's the biggest boom bus receiver in the class and I say that with like the fact that the boot the big boom is possible there are other volatile guys like Chris Brasal at a Tennessee is is one of those guys are like he has a wide range of outcomes I don't think he has the big boom like the biggest boom potential that like Chris Bell does so I say that like he's big boom bus
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: that I think unlike a guy like Chris Brasal, you do see real reps of Chris Bell, despite the fact the only line-up on one side of the field.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_00]: And I know, I think the season was shook, he only lined up on the left side of the field.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, he only lined up on the right side of the field.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_00]: Historically, for reception perception, so without the context of like you did this last season, in the games I've charted, like prospects who line up on one side of the field on over 70% of their sample staffs and reception perception, those guys go on to average 18.9 yards per game in the NFL.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and there are some hits, but there's a lot of just like complete busts.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_00]: And so that does put him in like a danger zone there.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_00]: Brassels even worse, but like that despite that part of it, put that, put a pin in that for a second, despite that he does show what I think was real deal ability to beat press coverage and beat man coverage, especially on like big boy routes.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like he can really stack and get behind corners on the perimeter.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_00]: And he, he did, is quarter I didn't find him and we all know that if he, well, he does get open in addition to some of the stuff he does with the ball in his hands on crossing routes and stuff that would really fit into Orleans offense and, and because of that, I think that he, I'm obsessed with Alec Pearson talking about Alec Pearson this draft class because I think he's really instructive.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_00]: To what can happen for these perimeter receivers and how it can work out for guys who have a limited Applicable skill set to the extra-sever position to start their careers because Pierce was that guy.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_00]: I liked Pierce's a prospect.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_00]: I was ahead of consensus on Pierce's a prospect
- 42:19[SPEAKER_00]: But he only ran free routes like he ran go post slant that's it and like some quick out routes stuff like that But for the most part those were three routes he ran But he could beat pressman coverage the point that he was a credible guy that you could stick on the field in his first three seasons and was mostly like sacrificial
- 42:36[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you mostly wasn't in the ball is open enough for Michael Pittman.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_00]: Open enough for Josh down stuff like that, but he just got better and better and better each year to then fourth year Oh, he's a guy that has a thousand yards people want to pay him 30 million dollars a year and I think that's really instructive for these guys like if you can get on the field right away As an X because you're a big body and you can actually beat press covers like that parts not the developmental part like I like I got a crisp razzle
- 43:05[SPEAKER_00]: he needs like a season but the problem is like if you need a season guess what's coming next year a good wide receiver.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_00]: Every class is a good wide receiver class.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's like you didn't show me anything in year one.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's a guess yeah some fans online might do the truth or isn't thing like we got Chris Brassel but the coaches are like this is guys I got to keep my job like I got to draft somebody can actually play
- 43:27[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so I think Chris Bell does check the box like he can get on the field and get better and better and better.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_00]: The problem is the ACL.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's where that's where it's tough because if he just doesn't play all year or not doesn't play all year, but he doesn't participate in offseason activities stuff like that.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to be tough.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_00]: We see that.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_00]: We rookie receivers all the time.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_00]: All the time.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_00]: This time in the off season, they're behind the eight ball.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_00]: Evening, I like Luther Burton, great work he sees in last year.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_00]: He was behind the eight ball.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_00]: Didn't get a lot of work to the back half of the season.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_00]: Jackson Smith and Jigua heard his wrist in his rookie season.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't quite know what to do with him for a while there in that rookie year.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's like it does happen that way for these guys.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_00]: They fall behind.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_00]: and I would worry about that with Bell to then like does he recover but theoretically if you put the ACI out of his mind I do think he's he's not a complete player he doesn't need development so it appears but he can play early and be like a vertical player for you that actually reposition in addition to stuff to like oh you can spit the ball out to him and he can run out to catch because he is I think not only is he well built like you tell me if you guys feel the same way I think he could add.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_00]: muscle too.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like he could clearly fill out even more which is pretty scary.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_01]: Scary, scary, because when he's warning, that's that looks, that looks good, man.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: I got it.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a, that's just a, uh, dimension to the Saints offense.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have, like, no, the road by the offense can't really just one catch the ball in front.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: And kind of more tries.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: He tries it all.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_01]: He tries to get someone to do it, but we just don't have the
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully somebody in this draft could do it.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_01]: We're hoping to double dip.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: We want to tie it into.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: We love that, you know, that you guys are doing.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_01]: Charlotton tight is now.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: Finally, we've been, everybody's screaming.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_01]: Please, Charlotton tight is not me, guys.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_01]: And just not you.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_01]: You're that doing it.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_01]: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
- 45:21[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_02]: Last one I had, speak just with Ryan Kinn on the double dipping point.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_02]: Is there any receivers like maybe getting out of the first two rounds like later in the draft that at the Saints?
- 45:33[SPEAKER_02]: I know they want to add one in round three round four, whatever that you just feel would be a good fit for the offense of what the things that they could bring later on in the draft.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if we think about just like the big guys, because I think that's probably the aisle that they're shopping, right?
- 45:49[SPEAKER_00]: And there's definitely some good like Z slot type players in the clock.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_00]: Dionne Berks is a guy with like zero production.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's just like something about him, you know, my buddy, JJ Zacharyson, who does like database prod prospecting, I thought he's going to laugh me off his show for bringing up, like,
- 46:06[SPEAKER_00]: Dianne Burks because that's how bad the production profile is but like there's something with him So if we're thinking about just like the big boy receivers, you know I mentioned Sarat, Malachi fields is another guy that I think would be a good
- 46:19[SPEAKER_00]: their name were perimeter receivers in college, but because especially Malice is like a former quarterback.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I always say like Cooper Cup, you could always tell like with so smart could read zone coverage because he was a former quarterback.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_00]: And like I think you see it with Malice, I feel a little bit.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_00]: He's a bit much better.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_00]: Not great against press man coverage from a separation standpoint, but he does have the zone skills to feel things out.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_00]: I have a whole breakdown coming out on my YouTube channel soon about the guys, like these non separators against press man.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_00]: How does it end up working out for them?
- 46:44[SPEAKER_00]: Spoiler.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_00]: Most of them don't 43% of them end
- 46:48[SPEAKER_00]: But the guys who do work out, they kick into the slot, they're that power slot off-ball kind of Z receiver mold and I think those two guys are candidates there.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_00]: Two other guys like later down the draft board, we kind of touched on a little bit like Lance and I do think dishonest dribbling would be interesting as big receivers who can I think flash against man coverage and really are more than that like slasher mold in breaking routes and I think both of those guys would fit well.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_00]: If they're just purely looking for a vertical guy, I like Bryce Lance a little bit.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: I just looking at his profile on your side.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he can get, he can rip it down the field lower level of competition, kind of cradle catches.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_00]: He needs to get that seems to get worked out of his game, but you could tell like he's a moves different type for sure.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a lot, I mean, different flavors, different, even those guys are all different.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_00]: Even if it's like I just sort of thinking about big receivers, it would work for them.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_00]: All those guys were so different from each other, so it kind of just depends on the flavor you're looking for.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we are hoping that every time you do, I remember as the year, and as you're doing like your, for like the rookie receivers like you're doing, right?
- 48:01[SPEAKER_02]: That's enough.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_02]: I'm always like,
- 48:04[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe, maybe us one day, hopefully.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe this year, hopefully has the 2022 season.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_02]: And there's a, a Saints, maybe maybe one or two Saints working receivers that you'll be writing, uh, Matt Harman.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much for coming on, talking Saints, talking receivers, draft all of it with us.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_02]: We greatly appreciate it.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_02]: It just been a fantastic, fantastic show.
