- 0:02Speaker 2: Oh? No, no, no, no, no, she doesn't keep track
- 0:04Speaker 2: of what I do.
- 0:05Speaker 1: I don't mean like, I don't mean like keep track
- 0:07Speaker 1: of what you ate in terms of like, hey you're
- 0:08Speaker 1: eating too much. I mean like the good shit in
- 0:11Speaker 1: our house. She's watching like you had the last Eminem
- 0:16Speaker 1: packet that's mine.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Yeah, we do fight over Eminem's, the peanut kind. We
- 0:19Speaker 3: fight over candy a lot. My wife and I yo yo, uh.
- 0:23Speaker 3: We should talk about this because a lot of people
- 0:25Speaker 3: don't know. But it was Sinco de Mayo yesterday. Yes,
- 0:29Speaker 3: you were fasting, so you didn't participate in Cinco de Maya.
- 0:32Speaker 1: What did you do? What did you do?
- 0:34Speaker 4: So?
- 0:34Speaker 3: Casa Vega is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in
- 0:38Speaker 3: the Sherman Oaks area right and you know, nobody can
- 0:42Speaker 3: go to restaurants right now. But they had a little
- 0:45Speaker 3: drive through going on where you can get you know,
- 0:47Speaker 3: tacos and and and beans and rice and you know
- 0:52Speaker 3: whatever was on the menu and maas and margarita's.
- 0:56Speaker 1: How do they give you the margarita? They brought it.
- 0:59Speaker 3: They put it in a half gallon pitcher that doesn't
- 1:03Speaker 3: not even a pitcher. It's like a half gallon, you know,
- 1:05Speaker 3: like you put milk in it. You know, you get
- 1:06Speaker 3: milk and it's a half gallon bottom jar whatever it is.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Yeah, they put it in that. Wow, and we got
- 1:13Speaker 2: three of them.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Oh my god, did you get hammer?
- 1:16Speaker 2: We only have one left.
- 1:21Speaker 1: You guys had a party over there.
- 1:22Speaker 2: We drank a gallon of margarita yesterday.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Oh my god, delish, I'm so jealous. I literally this
- 1:29Speaker 1: this this fast thing we're on. It's like all you
- 1:31Speaker 1: eat is this thin soup. It looks like it looks
- 1:35Speaker 1: like gruel, remember that thing that Oliver wanted more of.
- 1:38Speaker 1: That's what it looks like. Yeah, it looks like or
- 1:41Speaker 1: like what they what they'd slop on a pirate ship,
- 1:44Speaker 1: what they'd serve you for dinner. That's what it looks like.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:46Speaker 2: They have like a little bit of celery and like
- 1:48Speaker 2: a little bit of carrot.
- 1:49Speaker 1: It looks like cartoonishly watered down soup. That's what we're
- 1:53Speaker 1: allowed to eat.
- 1:53Speaker 2: But it's it's white colored.
- 1:55Speaker 1: No, it's the color of whatever flavor they think it is.
- 1:58Speaker 1: It's like tomato is like tomato colored, but it's just
- 2:00Speaker 1: got little specs of crap in it.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Wow.
- 2:03Speaker 1: But just you wait, Donald, We're gonna you're gonna check
- 2:05Speaker 1: in when we record on Friday, and you're gonna you're
- 2:08Speaker 1: gonna say, wow, you look even thinner.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I want to I want to fast.
- 2:11Speaker 1: But I shall we sing? Should we sing?
- 2:13Speaker 2: Yeah? Sure? Why not?
- 2:15Speaker 1: I'd like to count in today because I realized I
- 2:17Speaker 1: haven't counted in a long time. I've been giving it
- 2:19Speaker 1: to you. I've been giving it to Bill Lawrence, our guests,
- 2:21Speaker 1: giving it to Judy as a present, and and I
- 2:24Speaker 1: just feel feeling left out.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Well, Zach, I want you to give it to me.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Go ahead, okay, Dan, hit it. I like a little
- 2:29Speaker 1: you know what, Wait before you hit it, Dan. You know,
- 2:31Speaker 1: I always thought it was so cool when DJs on
- 2:34Speaker 1: the radio do the thing they called talk up, like
- 2:36Speaker 1: they know exactly when the words come in and they
- 2:41Speaker 1: stop talking right at the I believe DJ is called
- 2:43Speaker 1: talking up a song right right, so they they I'm
- 2:47Speaker 1: sure they have it labeled somewhere, like the lyrics start
- 2:49Speaker 1: at five seconds in or something. And I always thought
- 2:51Speaker 1: it was so smooth. So I'd like to talk up
- 2:53Speaker 1: this song.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Go ahead, do it?
- 2:55Speaker 1: Okay, here we go. So I'm not gonna count in. Dan,
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'm just gonna talk it up. I'm nervous now, I'm nervous.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Now here we go, Welcome everybody to fake doctors, real friends.
- 3:08Speaker 1: We're so glad you're joining us. And here's a song
- 3:11Speaker 1: by Charlie Blooth.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Do here's some stories about show.
- 3:17Speaker 1: We made about a bunch of docs.
- 3:20Speaker 2: And said, here's the stories natural.
- 3:28Speaker 1: So gather around here, yether here Hey. Lots of talk
- 3:39Speaker 1: on the social media about you know what I mean?
- 3:42Speaker 2: And uh and you is it? Is it that bad?
- 3:45Speaker 1: No, it's it's just people just need to accept it.
- 3:48Speaker 1: It's part of your way of.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Speaking, it is part of mine.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I'm just concerned though about those who are doing it
- 3:53Speaker 1: as a drinking game, that that that we're gonna turn
- 3:55Speaker 1: people into alcoholics.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I'm up the I think we should keep the things,
- 3:59Speaker 3: but if you don't want to keep the things, we
- 4:01Speaker 3: could we could remove the dings.
- 4:02Speaker 1: And also, I heard, by the way, Dan, that you
- 4:04Speaker 1: missed some I saw on Twitter some people were like
- 4:06Speaker 1: that dings were hilarious, but you guys missed like four.
- 4:09Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Dan, what was the total
- 4:13Speaker 1: I mean of the ones you caught? What was the
- 4:15Speaker 1: total nine.
- 4:17Speaker 2: That's not a lot for an hour, dude.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Bye. By the way, that's when you were trying not
- 4:21Speaker 1: to say it, dude.
- 4:22Speaker 2: But but I was also it was me not it
- 4:25Speaker 2: was me using it as slang, though at that point
- 4:29Speaker 2: it wasn't me just saying, you know what I mean.
- 4:31Speaker 2: After everything I said, somebody brought to my attention that
- 4:35Speaker 2: you say, you know a lot. I'm just gonna put
- 4:36Speaker 2: it out there.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Really, I'm trying to shift the ship to me. Listen, listen,
- 4:42Speaker 1: I do I listen. We all have. We all if
- 4:45Speaker 1: you record someone for multiple hours, you're gonna hear some
- 4:48Speaker 1: of the things that they say when they speak. I'm
- 4:51Speaker 1: sure we all have our own tics. Yeah, I'm sure
- 4:54Speaker 1: you listening right now judging us, you probably have some
- 4:58Speaker 1: vocal go tos.
- 5:03Speaker 3: The ones that the ones that kind of get on
- 5:05Speaker 3: my nerves are like when people say I mean all
- 5:07Speaker 3: the time before they say anything.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I mean, it's like no, I.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Get it, or like, I mean, I hear you say
- 5:13Speaker 1: like a lot.
- 5:14Speaker 2: We all say like a lot.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I know, but the young folks really use like a lot.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Yeah. That that's the one that gets me.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I mean, I mean, I mean, I'm literally the wrong
- 5:25Speaker 1: use of literally is also a bit of a pet
- 5:28Speaker 1: peeve that's abused.
- 5:30Speaker 2: You literally don't like that.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I literally literally get annoyed when people overuse literally. Should
- 5:37Speaker 1: we get into the episode.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Donald, let's do it. I love it.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I'm just gonna jump right in and say, holy shit,
- 5:46Speaker 1: you are so good in this episode. I forgot how
- 5:49Speaker 1: Turk centric it was, so it is a Turk episode
- 5:54Speaker 1: it is. It's a very Turk episode.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Do some great moments.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I'm not just saying this because I love you so much,
- 6:01Speaker 1: but I do, But holy shit, you are so good
- 6:04Speaker 1: in this episode. And I multiple things. There's the there's
- 6:08Speaker 1: we could spend a whole episode of this podcast on
- 6:11Speaker 1: that gospel fantasy. We're gonna spend plenty of time on it,
- 6:14Speaker 1: don't get me wrong. But also you're you're dramatic acting
- 6:18Speaker 1: at the end when you're all upset, the scene with
- 6:20Speaker 1: you and Judy on the roof, you running to the park,
- 6:22Speaker 1: I just thought you did really really good work.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Oh you're a sweetheart, you know.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Thank you first of all. Second of all, this was
- 6:29Speaker 3: one of my This isn't necessarily one of my favorite episodes,
- 6:32Speaker 3: but there's so many really cool things that happened in
- 6:35Speaker 3: this episode that I got to be a part of.
- 6:37Speaker 3: One was obviously the gospel choir thing. That was a
- 6:40Speaker 3: lot of fun. One of my favorite movies of all
- 6:42Speaker 3: time is Coming to America too, And also Which Way
- 6:45Speaker 3: Is Up? And Which Way Is Up? Richard Pryor plays
- 6:48Speaker 3: a reverend in a church and in Coming to America.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Ursiney o' hall's portrayal of the reverend is amazing as well.
- 6:56Speaker 3: And so if any if I was doing anything in
- 7:00Speaker 3: that scene, I was stealing from the two of them,
- 7:03Speaker 3: because I just.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Get right to it.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Amazing, Let's get right to it.
- 7:06Speaker 1: You are so fucking funny in that and I well,
- 7:09Speaker 1: I watched it like multiple times just because that scene.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I think it's one of the I honestly, I know
- 7:13Speaker 1: we're just started this, but I think it's one of
- 7:14Speaker 1: the best fantasies in Scrubs history, solely because of your performance.
- 7:18Speaker 1: And I know that you're doing an homage to your
- 7:20Speaker 1: favorite one of our favorite movies, Coming to America, but
- 7:23Speaker 1: you really made it your own. I mean, I just
- 7:28Speaker 1: was dying laughing. The Jerry curl, the the swing into
- 7:33Speaker 1: the arms, the padding of the forehead. We gonna we're.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Gonna what you wanna, cut them open, and then we're
- 7:40Speaker 2: gonna stow them right back to get you.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I remember that day genuinely cracking up, and you were
- 7:46Speaker 1: just going for it, man. You were you were literally
- 7:48Speaker 1: sweating your ass on hot as and you were just being.
- 7:52Speaker 3: But I wasn't sweating my ass off. So you kind
- 7:54Speaker 3: of used literally in the way that you hate it. Okay,
- 7:59Speaker 3: because I was literally sweating, but my ass didn't fall off, right, Okay,
- 8:03Speaker 3: there it is.
- 8:04Speaker 2: There, it is.
- 8:05Speaker 1: It is. It is literally not possible in a literal
- 8:09Speaker 1: sense for someone's ass to be sweat off. I believe.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I believe that's true. Joelle, Please look that up.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I had a lot of fun doing that scene. Man.
- 8:18Speaker 3: The one of the great things was looking out into
- 8:20Speaker 3: the audience also and seeing, you know how background really
- 8:24Speaker 3: enjoyed themselves, and then also seeing familiar faces in the background.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Colonel Doctor for the first time is in this episode.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Wait, before you're jumping around, let's just stay focused on you.
- 8:33Speaker 1: We can't go to curl doctor Wells in the background.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I know, but yes, okay, sorry, but I didn't want
- 8:38Speaker 1: to go to curl doctor yet because it is his
- 8:40Speaker 1: first appearance in a Scrubs episode, he shows up in
- 8:43Speaker 1: the background of Sarah's scene first.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Also Neil Flynn in the background of this episode clapping.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Yes, that was funny, and what about me when I
- 8:52Speaker 1: get the spirit.
- 8:53Speaker 2: And then you catch in the Holy Ghost? Dude, that
- 8:57Speaker 2: freaked me out. The first time I ever saw that,
- 8:59Speaker 2: I'm gonna be in real life. My first time ever
- 9:02Speaker 2: seeing you. I saw listen. I went to church with
- 9:06Speaker 2: my babysitter. Was like a midnight mass type thing, and
- 9:10Speaker 2: we went to church and we saw, first of all,
- 9:13Speaker 2: people around.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Us are catching the spirit, right, catching the Holy Ghost,
- 9:16Speaker 3: and they're losing it. And I was like, all right,
- 9:19Speaker 3: I'm safe. I'm here with my babysitter.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I know she's not going to catch the Holy Spirit.
- 9:25Speaker 2: She catches the bad boy.
- 9:27Speaker 1: And I was like, yeah, So how did she start
- 9:30Speaker 1: acting like.
- 9:32Speaker 2: She just out of nowhere? She just started dancing right
- 9:35Speaker 2: like you did, like your character does, like JD does.
- 9:38Speaker 2: She started dancing and then she started praising God, which
- 9:42Speaker 2: is what you know as a youth when you don't
- 9:44Speaker 2: see stuff like that. Like, my grandmother was Piscopalian, so
- 9:47Speaker 2: we had to go to Piscopalian church and stuff like that.
- 9:50Speaker 2: And it wasn't like that, you know what I mean.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Even though it was all black, it wasn't a Baptist church,
- 9:54Speaker 2: you know what I mean. And when you go to
- 9:56Speaker 2: when you go to a Baptist church, you know they
- 9:59Speaker 2: put it in.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I'd love to do that.
- 10:01Speaker 2: By the way, Oh, it's amazing the choir.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I would love to have the experience of going to
- 10:07Speaker 1: a church like the one we're representing in the show.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I just think it would be amazing. I've never seen
- 10:11Speaker 1: that in real life, obviously, I've seen it on TV
- 10:14Speaker 1: and on video of people speaking in tongues and and
- 10:17Speaker 1: no judgments. I'm not whatever works for you, that's amazing.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I like you said, as a child, I was always like,
- 10:22Speaker 1: oh my God, what is what is happening? And it
- 10:26Speaker 1: was so shocking to see someone reacting like that.
- 10:28Speaker 2: To get touched by the spirit of God.
- 10:31Speaker 1: I like the idea that JD you know, got the
- 10:33Speaker 1: spirit when you were such a good minister, that it just.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Came to him, right, the music got into him and
- 10:39Speaker 2: and and.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I don't know, or I just improved that. I don't recall,
- 10:42Speaker 1: do you remember.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I don't know if it was scripted. I think I
- 10:45Speaker 2: think you might have improved it.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I think I just thought I said to Bill, like,
- 10:48Speaker 1: oh my god, I should get the spirit. I think
- 10:49Speaker 1: that's funny.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Yeah, amazing, amazing man, great scene the choir was.
- 10:55Speaker 1: The choir was amazing. Although they although we do we
- 10:58Speaker 1: do have two of them that that spike the lens
- 11:00Speaker 1: and wave at the camera around eight sixteen. I don't
- 11:02Speaker 1: know if you caught that they got They may have
- 11:04Speaker 1: caught the spirit too and the decided to wave to
- 11:06Speaker 1: the lens. But uh, but they were. They were amazing.
- 11:10Speaker 1: And by the way, am I mistaken or did you?
- 11:13Speaker 1: Or did you when you were just riffing. One of
- 11:14Speaker 1: the things that was you were so great when when
- 11:17Speaker 1: they would when you would be in your element and
- 11:19Speaker 1: they would just tell you to go whether that could
- 11:20Speaker 1: be the dance, the famous dance you did that that
- 11:23Speaker 1: that everyone always talks about, or or so many things,
- 11:25Speaker 1: but in this moment when you were just riffing and
- 11:28Speaker 1: being that preacher, I mean, you just got lost in
- 11:30Speaker 1: it and it was so amazing to watch you do that.
- 11:32Speaker 1: But I remember that when you can what's the name
- 11:34Speaker 1: of the song we sing in this song?
- 11:38Speaker 2: Remember the song?
- 11:39Speaker 1: And they kept it in and thought that was so funny.
- 11:42Speaker 2: It was supposed to be something like quah, let us
- 11:45Speaker 2: let us you know, uh let us uh bless the
- 11:49Speaker 2: congregation with the song you know, Christ the Lord right, right,
- 11:54Speaker 2: And I remember getting down back quile what's the name
- 11:59Speaker 2: of a song? Was second?
- 12:01Speaker 1: But you stated character. It was so funny. You know,
- 12:04Speaker 1: it was such a good lesson early on in Scrubs
- 12:06Speaker 1: that if we stayed in character, a lot of that
- 12:09Speaker 1: stuff could if it was funny, would stay in right.
- 12:11Speaker 1: And and that was a perfect example of you doing
- 12:14Speaker 1: that and Bill going in the edit room like, oh,
- 12:16Speaker 1: that's funny, that's staying yeah.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Yeah. So so this whole episode, it was written by
- 12:24Speaker 2: deb Ford Them.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Deb Ford Them that's right, who also wrote the musical episode, right.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Was the one of the main writers on the musical episode,
- 12:30Speaker 1: and I think actually participated in writing a lot of
- 12:33Speaker 1: lyrics for the famous musical episode, that's right. And Jeff
- 12:37Speaker 1: Melman was the director, And I just learned a little
- 12:40Speaker 1: trivia that he directed some of the sitcom you.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Did the xes, Yeah, I did, I did.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I do you not put two and two together?
- 12:49Speaker 2: I did not remember that?
- 12:51Speaker 1: Do you remember? Do you remember?
- 12:53Speaker 2: I do know? Jeff Melman has been now that you
- 12:55Speaker 2: have said that, Well.
- 12:56Speaker 1: He only directed one episode of Scrubs and it was
- 12:58Speaker 1: twenty years ago, so you're okay for not remembering that.
- 13:00Speaker 1: But I don't know if you put two and two together.
- 13:01Speaker 1: You also directed your sitcom The X.
- 13:03Speaker 3: I think we even talked about him directing an episode
- 13:06Speaker 3: of Scrubs when he directed the episode of Right the
- 13:08Speaker 3: Exes anyway.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and Kristin Johnston, who you did The Exes with,
- 13:12Speaker 1: I bought her house. That's where I live.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Not only that, but you guys also did Twelfth Night together.
- 13:20Speaker 1: We did Twelfth Night together in Central Park at the
- 13:22Speaker 1: Della Court and you and that's when she said, Hey,
- 13:26Speaker 1: I want to move out of La I'm over it.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Do you have any interest? And I was just at
- 13:30Speaker 1: the time when I was starting to think about buying
- 13:33Speaker 1: my first house. And what's funny is that she was
- 13:36Speaker 1: quite an entertainer. She threw a lot of bashes at
- 13:40Speaker 1: the house, and so over the years when I've told
- 13:42Speaker 1: people that I bought the house from her, they're always like, ooh,
- 13:45Speaker 1: I've been so fucked up in that in your house.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Wow. Wow.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Well she's now sober and she's written a wonderful book
- 13:52Speaker 3: called Guts, which is out on the market right now.
- 13:54Speaker 3: And if you guys are listening and want a good
- 13:58Speaker 3: read in the voice of Kristin Johnson. She also does
- 14:02Speaker 3: the audiobook, check it out. It's very, very, very revealing
- 14:06Speaker 3: and she's very open about her addiction.
- 14:09Speaker 1: And yeah, you get and I've read the book and
- 14:11Speaker 1: it's amazing and you should get it. And when you're
- 14:13Speaker 1: hearing about some of her partying, just know it was
- 14:15Speaker 1: happening in my.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Yo. Somebody got mad, dude, you oh man, somebody got
- 14:22Speaker 2: mad that I ruined that joke or that not the joke,
- 14:25Speaker 2: the bit of trivia. I know.
- 14:27Speaker 1: On one of the last episodes, I said I was
- 14:29Speaker 1: gonna do a trivia for Donald involving the breakfast Club,
- 14:33Speaker 1: and he ruined it and some guy and some guy
- 14:35Speaker 1: wrote on Twitter I was legit excited for a bit
- 14:38Speaker 1: of trivia and Donald did indeed ruin it. We gotta
- 14:43Speaker 1: filter in some more trivia to this show. Absolutely, so okay,
- 14:46Speaker 1: dead forward, Jeff Melman, it's a great episode. I gotta say,
- 14:50Speaker 1: you know, they're not all this good. This was a
- 14:52Speaker 1: darn good one. And first thing I wrote down was
- 14:55Speaker 1: Nurse Tisdale at thirty five seconds in Yes, which is
- 14:58Speaker 1: a oh mah to film Fast Times a Ridge on High. Now,
- 15:02Speaker 1: some of you younger folk might not know that movie.
- 15:05Speaker 1: You should watch it because it's a seminal eighties film.
- 15:07Speaker 1: And I remember watching it at someone's house, far too
- 15:11Speaker 1: young to be watching it, Like I should not have
- 15:13Speaker 1: been watching that movie at the age I was, And
- 15:16Speaker 1: I remember feeling like, don't move because I don't want
- 15:19Speaker 1: any adult to notice that I'm here and I'm watching this,
- 15:23Speaker 1: and I probably shouldn't be watching Phoebe Kate's reveal her Bosoms. Yeah,
- 15:30Speaker 1: do you remember when you saw that?
- 15:32Speaker 3: I do remember when I saw that movie, And you know,
- 15:35Speaker 3: the one thing that stuck out from that movie for
- 15:37Speaker 3: me was Sean Penn totally awesome and his Jeff Spoccoli.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit of trivia for you. Do you
- 15:43Speaker 2: know who wrote that movie?
- 15:45Speaker 1: Yes, it was Amy Heckerling, No Cameron Crowe. Amy Heckerling
- 15:50Speaker 1: directed it, absolutely, okay, Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Clueless wrote and directed Clueless.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Yes, So it's six degrees of Donald Faison?
- 15:58Speaker 3: Is what your six degrees of Donald face? Forest Whitaker's
- 16:00Speaker 3: also in that movie. He directed, Waiting to Exhale, and
- 16:03Speaker 3: I was in it, and I remember going on the
- 16:06Speaker 3: audition for Waiting to Exhil at the same time I
- 16:08Speaker 3: was shooting Clueless, the movie, and I was, you know,
- 16:12Speaker 3: Forrest and I had a little conversation about his experience
- 16:14Speaker 3: with Amy and the reason why I got Waiting to
- 16:17Speaker 3: Xel because I'm sure there were a bunch of people
- 16:19Speaker 3: who auditioned for it. But Forrest told me, he was like,
- 16:21Speaker 3: you know, I went with you because you know you're
- 16:24Speaker 3: working with Amy, and Amy gave me my start and
- 16:27Speaker 3: there was something that was a form of nostalgia, and
- 16:29Speaker 3: for me, that's really cool.
- 16:30Speaker 2: So I got to be in Waiting Exhil with.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Whitney Houston and Labassett, Loretta, Divine, Lee, Liver Sean, I
- 16:37Speaker 3: got to oh Man, I got to meet several actors,
- 16:39Speaker 3: from Michael Beach to one of my favorite all time performers,
- 16:44Speaker 3: Gregory Hines.
- 16:45Speaker 1: That's what I've never seen the movie. I've got to
- 16:47Speaker 1: be artist with you.
- 16:48Speaker 2: But you've never seen Waiting Axcel.
- 16:49Speaker 1: No, But I'm gonna write it down because we're looking
- 16:51Speaker 1: for quarantine movies and I do love your work.
- 16:54Speaker 2: You should watch Wait in xhil. It's a lot of
- 16:55Speaker 2: fun if.
- 16:56Speaker 1: You have a good part in it. Or should I
- 16:57Speaker 1: need to just fast forward to your scenes.
- 16:59Speaker 3: No, you should watch the movie. The movie is actually
- 17:01Speaker 3: very entertaining. It's it's it's and the soundtrack is amazing.
- 17:06Speaker 3: By the way, Holy cow, babyface, you put your foot
- 17:10Speaker 3: in it when you made that one.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I don't know what that means.
- 17:13Speaker 2: It just means he puts some, he puts some.
- 17:15Speaker 1: He did a good job.
- 17:16Speaker 2: He put a little stroozy on it, you know, baby face,
- 17:19Speaker 2: he's still doing his thing.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Oh, I just haven't heard about him his name in
- 17:24Speaker 1: the public lexicon in a long time.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Anyway, we digressed, Let's get back here.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Sorry, we digress. Nurse Tisdale, she's coming down doing an
- 17:31Speaker 1: homage to Fast Times the Ridge on High. By the way,
- 17:34Speaker 1: if you haven't seen Fast Times the Ridge My High,
- 17:35Speaker 1: you should because it perfectly I think encapsulates a period
- 17:39Speaker 1: of time in the eighties, and and it's a really
- 17:43Speaker 1: really I mean it was written by Cameron Crow. I mean,
- 17:45Speaker 1: it's a great movie. Fifty eight seconds Snoop, you know,
- 17:49Speaker 1: showing up Snoops in a lot of this episode. Snoop
- 17:51Speaker 1: dogg Interurn.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Snoop Dogg was in a lot of this show.
- 17:55Speaker 1: I know it's funny. If you guys start looking at
- 17:57Speaker 1: the background, you'll.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Say, not Snoop dog real, snoop Dogg, snoop Dogg.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I feel see if you guys look at if you
- 18:02Speaker 1: guys look at these episodes closely, you'll see that basically
- 18:05Speaker 1: they're just they're just moving around the same twenty background folks.
- 18:08Speaker 1: And there's times where it's like there'll be one scene
- 18:11Speaker 1: and Snoops in the background, and then then we're upstairs
- 18:13Speaker 1: and Snoops in the background. I'm like, guys, come.
- 18:15Speaker 3: On, well he worked a lot and then yeah, but
- 18:19Speaker 3: now we're starting to introduce new characters, so you'll see Colonel.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Yeah Doctor one fifty one a momentous moment. Colonel Doctor
- 18:25Speaker 1: first appearance in the background, as Bill told us on
- 18:28Speaker 1: the last episode, named because everyone thought he looked like
- 18:33Speaker 1: Colonel Sanders.
- 18:34Speaker 2: From the Kentucky Fried Chicken commercials.
- 18:36Speaker 1: And is he still alive or did he pass I
- 18:39Speaker 1: believe he passed away. I believe way he was an
- 18:41Speaker 1: older fellow when we're doing this twenty years ago. By
- 18:44Speaker 1: the way, someone clarified for me on on the social
- 18:47Speaker 1: media interwebs that the Beard Fasse film I was trying
- 18:52Speaker 1: to remember was Girl with the Dragon tattoo. I knew
- 18:55Speaker 1: it was a Fincher move.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Was Fincher? You're right?
- 18:57Speaker 1: So I was right about it being Fincher. It's Girl
- 18:59Speaker 1: with the Dragon to Daniel Craig is on a plane
- 19:03Speaker 1: and the camera sort of just Dolly's past a close
- 19:07Speaker 1: up of Beard Fasce. So thank you for the for
- 19:10Speaker 1: the listener who helped me out with that.
- 19:12Speaker 2: All right, we're gonna go to break, We'll be right back,
- 19:22Speaker 2: and we're back.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Hey listen. I occasionally Season one would go out partying
- 19:28Speaker 1: with you during the week. Yes, I was occasionally, Yes,
- 19:33Speaker 1: I was feeling myself. I had never had a dollar
- 19:35Speaker 1: in my pocket, let.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Alone some hat television show, hit.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Television show, and you and I I can't. I mean,
- 19:43Speaker 1: it's forty five years old. You can't imagine you would
- 19:46Speaker 1: ever do this. But in our twenties we would occasionally
- 19:48Speaker 1: go out the nights of filming.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Occasionally, I remember we would say things like, all right, look,
- 19:54Speaker 2: just want to do one shot?
- 19:57Speaker 1: About just one? I'm sure everybody out there can relate
- 20:00Speaker 1: to your friend going, how about just one?
- 20:03Speaker 3: Yeah, we're gonna do one shot hard to beat you
- 20:06Speaker 3: hard six o'clock in the morning. If we're gone by midnight,
- 20:08Speaker 3: we could be home by one and we still have
- 20:10Speaker 3: a good five hours of sleep.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Right hard cut to like at six in the morning
- 20:14Speaker 1: when Orlando Jones is swimming.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Oh my god, it wasn't even six. It was like
- 20:18Speaker 2: four forty five, right, And it was the night you
- 20:22Speaker 2: had to be at work at six and.
- 20:24Speaker 1: I had to Did you have to go in or
- 20:25Speaker 1: just me?
- 20:25Speaker 2: You didn't have to go in, so I had to
- 20:26Speaker 2: go in, but I didn't have to be in until like, oh.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Man, this was this is this is if you looked
- 20:31Speaker 1: at a graph of me being irresponsible at work. This
- 20:34Speaker 1: was the high point because I think I was in
- 20:36Speaker 1: Orlando Jones's pool hammered at four forty five. Yeah, and
- 20:40Speaker 1: that day I had to shoot this Fonnsie fantasy at
- 20:43Speaker 1: three forty one that starts at three forty one. So
- 20:46Speaker 1: when you see that Fonsie thing, not only am I hungover,
- 20:49Speaker 1: I'm still buzzed, right right, I'm still buzzed from partying
- 20:55Speaker 1: with Orlando Jones.
- 20:56Speaker 5: Dude.
- 20:57Speaker 3: To this day, That's still one of the most epic nights.
- 21:00Speaker 3: I mean we've had some pretty epic nights, but well,
- 21:02Speaker 3: because he was so young and fresh in the game and.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I hadn't met that any stars, and I was just like,
- 21:07Speaker 1: I can't believe, are we going to Orlando Jones' house.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Yeah, he was fresh off of doing uh. He he
- 21:12Speaker 2: had he had already said goodbye to the seven up
- 21:15Speaker 2: commercials and now he had the movie that had just
- 21:17Speaker 2: come out with him and David Duchovny and Sean Williams
- 21:21Speaker 2: Scott called Evolution or something like that, and we were
- 21:24Speaker 2: all hanging out.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I don't know, but I was doing any Star. I
- 21:28Speaker 1: was excited. I was just excited. I felt like, I'm
- 21:30Speaker 1: living the Hollywood dream. I'm not waiting tables anymore. I'm
- 21:33Speaker 1: partying with Orlando Jones and Donald.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Fa and Dion and Deontae Gordon with.
- 21:40Speaker 1: And Deontay Gordon, Donald's Donald's stand and slash our friend
- 21:44Speaker 1: and uh. And then I went and did this fantasy.
- 21:46Speaker 1: So I was just watching it because I remember that
- 21:48Speaker 1: being in pain and it's it's a very funny fantasy.
- 21:51Speaker 1: So i'm i'm, i'm. I was grateful this many years later,
- 21:53Speaker 1: I did ruin a moment for the fans because that's
- 21:55Speaker 1: a funny fantasy.
- 21:56Speaker 2: It's hilarious. He's not gonna make it. Then you come
- 21:59Speaker 2: in the jew box.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Like for those of you who are too young to remember,
- 22:04Speaker 1: the fans who I'm spoofing here could pretty much had
- 22:07Speaker 1: magical powers.
- 22:08Speaker 2: I mean when it came to jukeboxes and women.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Yes, the fan maybe in the beginning he was just
- 22:14Speaker 1: juke boxing, but then like as I recall late in
- 22:16Speaker 1: later episodes of Happy Days, he would literally he could
- 22:18Speaker 1: like work magic because.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Snap and women out of nowhere would show up.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Yeah, Fonzie had to move out of Milwaukee because he
- 22:25Speaker 1: had dated every woman in Milwaukee. Is that recall that
- 22:28Speaker 1: was that was a subplot he had he had been
- 22:30Speaker 1: on a date with every single woman in Milwaukee and
- 22:32Speaker 1: he could, so he had to go out of city.
- 22:34Speaker 2: For that right on.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Such a funny scene though, such a funny scene. And
- 22:38Speaker 3: that's how you you know we all believe in miracles.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Well that's how that's what starts off your really cool
- 22:43Speaker 1: arc about testing your faith and and so was it
- 22:47Speaker 1: dropped from you? You mentioned earlier that it was was
- 22:49Speaker 1: your was churks religiousness dropped from here on out? Like
- 22:54Speaker 1: did it ever come up did you stop wearing that cross?
- 22:56Speaker 1: The cross by the way, you never see this cross
- 22:59Speaker 1: ever before, but in this so because you're supposed to
- 23:00Speaker 1: be religious, the crosses in every every shot.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Well, we shot it in another episode also, but the
- 23:06Speaker 3: cross is was it was after this you don't see
- 23:09Speaker 3: the cross anymore, I believe, And we don't talk about
- 23:12Speaker 3: Turk's faith really anymore, which.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Is bizarre because at the end of the episode your
- 23:17Speaker 1: faith is restored. I mean, you literally have a sign
- 23:19Speaker 1: from God. Did you go see a pregnant woman in
- 23:23Speaker 1: the park?
- 23:24Speaker 2: Right?
- 23:24Speaker 1: Like?
- 23:24Speaker 2: I just knew she was in the park?
- 23:26Speaker 1: Yeah, how did you just know? Did you even know?
- 23:27Speaker 1: Does Turke even know Sarah's storyline about her having a
- 23:31Speaker 1: pregnant woman?
- 23:31Speaker 3: I think the I think the whole hospital knows about
- 23:34Speaker 3: it because she's escaped and everybody's on the lookout.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Okay, so you're on the roof, by the way, how
- 23:40Speaker 1: funny is it the judy trying to cheer you up,
- 23:42Speaker 1: wants to bang on the roof of the hospital. I know,
- 23:44Speaker 1: I thought that was a funny plot line, Like, here, baby,
- 23:47Speaker 1: I'll cheer you up. Let's have sex on this gravelly
- 23:49Speaker 1: dirty rooftop.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I look back at that. I look back at that,
- 23:54Speaker 2: and I'm like, Turk, what were you thinking?
- 23:56Speaker 1: I love, I love us, I love I'm wanting it
- 23:59Speaker 1: going be so gross And you're like, oh, what was
- 24:01Speaker 1: Turk thinking? I mean, like, I don't know. I think
- 24:11Speaker 1: having sex in like really awkward places is always so
- 24:14Speaker 1: like such a thing you only see in movies.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Like have you had sex and awkward places before?
- 24:19Speaker 1: Well, I'm not going to go too into my sex
- 24:21Speaker 1: life for everybody, but I do. I think I have
- 24:23Speaker 1: hooked up on the beach with with with someone and
- 24:26Speaker 1: thought this looks way better in the movies. There's like
- 24:29Speaker 1: sand in my creases.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Yeah, uh no, I have never had sex in really
- 24:34Speaker 2: any awkward.
- 24:35Speaker 1: There you go. We're giving the exclusive here on Fake
- 24:38Speaker 1: Doctor's Real Friends Donald Fai song never having sex in
- 24:41Speaker 1: an awkward place, like, I.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Know people that have done it in some crazy places.
- 24:45Speaker 1: I'm like, there's people who are into that. They're like
- 24:47Speaker 1: they like they think of it like notches on their belt, Like, well,
- 24:49Speaker 1: you're not gonna believe where we bang the hospital roof.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Turk and Carl, aren't that couple?
- 24:58Speaker 1: What about those people who about having sex on an
- 25:01Speaker 1: airplane bathrooms? I always thought that would be humiliating to
- 25:05Speaker 1: come out of the bathroom and everyone's looking at you
- 25:07Speaker 1: and so obvious what you did.
- 25:10Speaker 2: It's not.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Well, the thing is not a lot of people have
- 25:14Speaker 3: the opportunity to have sex over a mile above the earth.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Right, And so I get the allure.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Yeah, you do get the allure.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I get the allure, but I'm not really I'm
- 25:24Speaker 2: not jealous of it. Like you just said, I can't.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Picture you doing that. It doesn't sound like a very
- 25:28Speaker 1: Donald Faison thing to do. I mean, you never know,
- 25:33Speaker 1: so you might.
- 25:34Speaker 2: I mean if it's a private jet.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Oh, a private jet doesn't count. I'm talking about a
- 25:39Speaker 1: commercial airplane.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Like yeah, no, no, no, no, no, no no, especially
- 25:42Speaker 2: now after what we're going through right now with this
- 25:44Speaker 2: whole quarantine thing.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Before the quarantine, you would definitely bang in a bath.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Before the quarantine, I think a lot of people would
- 25:50Speaker 3: be like, yeah, that's a possibility. But now I think
- 25:53Speaker 3: after the quarantine thing, it's like there's a little too
- 25:54Speaker 3: much germs.
- 25:55Speaker 1: I can't picture Casey Cobb being like, there's.
- 25:58Speaker 3: No way, it's absolutely not. I would be like, babe,
- 26:00Speaker 3: let's do it, and she'd look at me like I
- 26:02Speaker 3: was stupid. Should come home, buddy, Come own buddy.
- 26:05Speaker 1: That's funny. All right, So the park's called Miller Park.
- 26:08Speaker 1: I couldn't help but think that might be for Krista Miller. Okay, right, yeah, sure,
- 26:14Speaker 1: the park's called Miller Park. I mean Bill said he's
- 26:16Speaker 1: not great at naming shit.
- 26:17Speaker 2: So speaking of Krista Miller, she's back.
- 26:19Speaker 1: She's back, and she looks beautiful and she's funny as shit.
- 26:24Speaker 1: And six thirty three is the first time I say
- 26:27Speaker 1: banana hammock? Now, what is a banana hammock? Is it
- 26:31Speaker 1: the thing that Rob that Rob Aka Todd wears the tiny.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Yes, yes, and and and it's called a banana hammock
- 26:40Speaker 3: because obviously it's like laying your banana and Hannah hammock.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Okay, now I guess there are people men that wear
- 26:48Speaker 1: these for real strippers.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think if you're comfortable, if you
- 26:53Speaker 3: don't have problems with your thighs rubbing together, banana hammocks
- 26:57Speaker 3: are very comfortable.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Do you would could you ever consider? Would you ever consider?
- 27:02Speaker 6: No?
- 27:02Speaker 1: Because listen before you answer, if you knew you weren't
- 27:05Speaker 1: going to be photographed by a Papa Rozz so, by
- 27:08Speaker 1: the way, singular of paparazzi is Papa Rozzo. I don't know.
- 27:11Speaker 1: If you knew that, Okay, if you knew that you
- 27:13Speaker 1: weren't going to be photographed and it would just be
- 27:15Speaker 1: you on the beach and wherever Brazil, would you would
- 27:18Speaker 1: you rock one of those?
- 27:19Speaker 3: If I had no worry about anyone ever seeing me
- 27:22Speaker 3: in this, yeah, yeah, then why not go nude?
- 27:24Speaker 2: Right?
- 27:26Speaker 1: No, I'm talking about you're still on a beach, people
- 27:27Speaker 1: are like around.
- 27:29Speaker 3: No, then no, I would not rock one. If people
- 27:31Speaker 3: are around, then no, I would never rock one.
- 27:35Speaker 1: I sometimes think it would be fun to wear a
- 27:36Speaker 1: speedo like you know. Again, I don't want to wear
- 27:40Speaker 1: it and have people look at me and judge, you know,
- 27:43Speaker 1: everything going on. But I think I just think sometimes
- 27:45Speaker 1: when I see people wearing them, I go, I think
- 27:47Speaker 1: that might feel nice have a speedo on be out
- 27:50Speaker 1: and about.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't, I don't know, I don't, I don't.
- 27:52Speaker 2: I'd prefer to. I have issues with like chafing with
- 27:56Speaker 2: my thighs.
- 27:56Speaker 1: And stuff like that because you don't have a thigh gap.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Yeah. No, I got quads and I got some thigh gap.
- 28:05Speaker 1: I think I might have a thigh gap. Let me see, Yeah,
- 28:08Speaker 1: I have a little thigh gap.
- 28:09Speaker 3: I don't have a thigh gap. Yea my inner thigh touch. Yeah,
- 28:14Speaker 3: they clap, they clap.
- 28:16Speaker 2: That's the worst.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Oh, you want to talk about feeling feeling running with
- 28:24Speaker 3: the chafe after a while and then having the burn
- 28:28Speaker 3: in between the.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Way you can't jog because of your thighs.
- 28:31Speaker 3: I can jog if I put on something like oppression shorts,
- 28:33Speaker 3: but I can't wear like. I can't wear tidy whities,
- 28:35Speaker 3: Like I don't wear tidy whities because even just walking
- 28:38Speaker 3: is an issue with tidy whities.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't wear tighty whities anymore either, but I
- 28:43Speaker 1: used to be quite loyal to them. Yeah, the janitor
- 28:46Speaker 1: is for no reason that nine forty punched in the
- 28:49Speaker 1: balls by a little girl, and both the little girl
- 28:53Speaker 1: and the mom acknowledged the janitor. So Bill, since you
- 29:00Speaker 1: hold fast to the idea that the janitor only reacted
- 29:03Speaker 1: with JD in season one and may have been a
- 29:05Speaker 1: figment of his imagination, why is it that a little
- 29:10Speaker 1: girl randomly punches Neil in the balls and he reacts.
- 29:14Speaker 6: Yeah, when the janitor got hitting the balls by that girl,
- 29:19Speaker 6: like the nine and a half minute mark. You want
- 29:22Speaker 6: me to explain how the jan in there can only
- 29:26Speaker 6: interact with j D if this actually happened, That's easy.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Five six eighties stop turn it off, fucking guy the.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Old school PSA. Yes, great, hilarious, so funny, very funny,
- 29:43Speaker 2: and very clever.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean really and just well executed. Kudos to
- 29:48Speaker 1: Jeff Melman, the director, and deb for writing it. I
- 29:52Speaker 1: thought that was just really clever, really well executed. Those
- 29:54Speaker 1: those sort of spoofing, those nineteen fifties you know, what
- 29:59Speaker 1: do you call them instructional videos?
- 30:01Speaker 3: Yes, But then afterwards, after the fantasy was over, we
- 30:04Speaker 3: did it again where the person who did the voiceover
- 30:09Speaker 3: for the fantasy is now in the room with you, right, and.
- 30:12Speaker 1: He brings up like communism as though he's still back
- 30:14Speaker 1: in the fifties.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Right, and then looks all he's looking off into the distance,
- 30:19Speaker 3: I guess, into nowhere, and then you look at him
- 30:22Speaker 3: to see what he's looking at, right, and then you
- 30:24Speaker 3: exit that direction.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I think he was trying to be one of those like,
- 30:27Speaker 1: you know, picture like a nineteen fifties announcer guy who's
- 30:30Speaker 1: like looking off into the distance, and thus we will
- 30:32Speaker 1: fight communism and so and then he's sort of frozen
- 30:35Speaker 1: like that. And then but it was sort of a
- 30:37Speaker 1: JD sort of head look. So then I kind of
- 30:39Speaker 1: did a look to him like are you doing my thing?
- 30:41Speaker 1: Or what are you looking at? And then I tried
- 30:42Speaker 1: to look where he was going.
- 30:44Speaker 2: But that's pulling out of a fantasy and still being yes,
- 30:47Speaker 2: you know another example.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Of that, that's not something that happened too often.
- 30:51Speaker 2: No, this is like and the second time it happened.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Well, we talked about the guy who was frozen after
- 30:56Speaker 1: at the orderly, who was frozen after everybody else was frozen.
- 31:00Speaker 1: It's not something I think Bill. I think he said
- 31:02Speaker 1: that he started phasing that out, but I thought it
- 31:04Speaker 1: was clever, very clever.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Same here. I, Well, I have a couple of things.
- 31:12Speaker 2: We shaved the baby.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Okay, I laughed out loud. I laughed out loud.
- 31:18Speaker 2: I shaved the baby, shaved in a haircut. Two bits.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I laughed out loud. That was JD's j d's
- 31:25Speaker 1: improvisation for solving the problem. We shaved the baby. You
- 31:29Speaker 1: shaved the baby, yep, shaved the baby, shave and a haircut.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Long pause. Two bits. Bill told me early on that
- 31:41Speaker 1: one of the things he loved about Michael J. Fox
- 31:44Speaker 1: working on Spin City was that Michael J. And everybody,
- 31:48Speaker 1: when you think about this, when you hear this, you'll
- 31:50Speaker 1: think about family ties and some of the amazing timing
- 31:53Speaker 1: he had was that he knew how long he could
- 31:57Speaker 1: milk a pause before that punchline. Like Michael J. Fox
- 32:01Speaker 1: was fucking genius at you know, I'll just use this
- 32:04Speaker 1: as example, how long he could have the audience, especially
- 32:07Speaker 1: if the audience got ahead of it, right, he knew that.
- 32:09Speaker 1: You still, I mean, it's even better with a sitcom
- 32:12Speaker 1: live audience, but he knew that shave and a haircut
- 32:17Speaker 1: two bits, you know, like he could he could just
- 32:20Speaker 1: milk it even if the audience started on a sitcom
- 32:23Speaker 1: started giggling because they were ahead of it. He could
- 32:26Speaker 1: just milk that. And Bill said, and I think I
- 32:29Speaker 1: think that landed in my head in some of my
- 32:31Speaker 1: scrubs timings because I I wanted to impress him like
- 32:34Speaker 1: Michael J. Fox. But but I but I I always
- 32:37Speaker 1: think of that when you watch some of Michael J.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Fox's amazing timing, how how he could just he just
- 32:42Speaker 1: was a master of how long to hold it like
- 32:44Speaker 1: even let the audience get ahead of it. It's fine,
- 32:46Speaker 1: and then say, and it would be so much more gratifying.
- 32:48Speaker 2: Right, I mean, Michael J. Fox is you know, one
- 32:51Speaker 2: of our our best when it comes to.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Just mean Family Ties. Did you watch Family Ties?
- 32:57Speaker 2: Of course I watched Family Ties. He was amaze. And
- 33:00Speaker 2: also Back to the Future, you know, the first.
- 33:03Speaker 3: I talk about Back to the Future a lot because
- 33:04Speaker 3: it's one of my favorite movies, but the first Back
- 33:06Speaker 3: to the Future. I know there's some plot holes in
- 33:09Speaker 3: it that a lot of people can't get over, but
- 33:12Speaker 3: to me, that movie is almost flawless, you know what
- 33:14Speaker 3: I mean. As far as time travel stories are so
- 33:18Speaker 3: difficult to do, you know what I mean? And or
- 33:21Speaker 3: I shouldn't say it difficult to do. I should say
- 33:22Speaker 3: they're just doing a time travel story.
- 33:25Speaker 2: It's been done so many times before, so you have
- 33:28Speaker 2: to be pretty creative to make it feel like, oh
- 33:32Speaker 2: this is you know, people say another time travel story.
- 33:35Speaker 2: But if it's as good as Back to the Future was,
- 33:40Speaker 2: you accept it and you're willing to go on the ride.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Otherwise it's like some cheese shit, and you you know,
- 33:46Speaker 2: theory gets in the way of a lot of stuff.
- 33:48Speaker 2: And I it's just one of those movies that you know,
- 33:53Speaker 2: you make a it's just it's in my opinion, this one.
- 33:56Speaker 2: It's a perfect movie.
- 33:57Speaker 1: And wasn't it amazing that a movie could turn off
- 33:59Speaker 1: that good good? And it was a film that they
- 34:02Speaker 1: started over because they recast the lead.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Right yeah, well yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean.
- 34:08Speaker 1: You mentioned this, you mentioned this before. But for those
- 34:10Speaker 1: of you who didn't hear that or didn't know it
- 34:11Speaker 1: was originally Eric Stoltz, I don't know how long they shot.
- 34:14Speaker 1: You read the book, do you remember.
- 34:15Speaker 2: It shot half of the movie. So they shot all
- 34:17Speaker 2: of the.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Stuff that credible. They shot half of the fucking movie.
- 34:21Speaker 3: Yes, so they shot everything in the fifties. But they
- 34:24Speaker 3: talk about they talk about the movie like, you know,
- 34:26Speaker 3: Michael J. Fox is very athletic.
- 34:29Speaker 1: What's the name of this book? Do you remember?
- 34:30Speaker 2: For people don't remember it? The dude tweeted it.
- 34:34Speaker 3: But they shot half the movie and they said, you know,
- 34:36Speaker 3: Michael J. Fox is very athletic. But they said Eric
- 34:40Speaker 3: Stoltz on a skateboard was magic. He just seemed way
- 34:42Speaker 3: more at home on.
- 34:43Speaker 2: A skateboard than it was a skateboarder.
- 34:45Speaker 3: Yeah, right, than Michael j Fox did, and you know
- 34:48Speaker 3: the rock and roll side of things. They say in
- 34:51Speaker 3: the book, you know, Eric Stoltz had that, you know,
- 34:54Speaker 3: has that very much grund rock appeal to him, you
- 34:58Speaker 3: know what I mean.
- 35:00Speaker 2: J Fox, as you know he is, he is what
- 35:02Speaker 2: he is.
- 35:03Speaker 3: He's you know you when you look at him, you're
- 35:06Speaker 3: not like, yo, that dude is just listens to rockall
- 35:10Speaker 3: even if he does, you know what I mean, he
- 35:12Speaker 3: doesn't have that look to him.
- 35:14Speaker 2: And they said, Eric did. It just didn't work out.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, how humbling can you imagine your I mean,
- 35:20Speaker 1: thank god Eric Stults went on to have this incredible
- 35:22Speaker 1: career and holy shit, and mask if you haven't got
- 35:25Speaker 1: that mask.
- 35:26Speaker 2: And that's the thing.
- 35:26Speaker 3: So they talk about that in the book. The reason
- 35:28Speaker 3: why he was put in the movie was because he
- 35:30Speaker 3: had masks, the mask coming out, you know what I mean,
- 35:32Speaker 3: And so they were banking on him getting nominated for
- 35:35Speaker 3: an Academy Award for that movie, but then being in
- 35:38Speaker 3: this blockbuster action adventure time travel movie.
- 35:42Speaker 2: The name of the book is Back to the Future.
- 35:45Speaker 1: I click on The Ultimate Visual History. Yes, Back to
- 35:49Speaker 1: the Future, The Ultimate Visual History by Michael Klasterin Yeah,
- 35:54Speaker 1: so if you're a fan of the movie, like as
- 35:57Speaker 1: much as Donald is, you might want to check that
- 35:59Speaker 1: out because it sounds fascinating. I'm always fascinating these production
- 36:02Speaker 1: stories where someone's recast or they start over. I mean,
- 36:06Speaker 1: I don't know if it's true, so don't hold me
- 36:08Speaker 1: to this, but I heard that American Beauty, which is
- 36:10Speaker 1: one of my favorite movies, they shot like, not not
- 36:12Speaker 1: as much as this, but they shot like a week
- 36:14Speaker 1: of and and and the director said, uh, to the producers,
- 36:20Speaker 1: I I didn't get the tone quite right. You know,
- 36:22Speaker 1: the tone of American Beauty is so specific and and
- 36:26Speaker 1: as the as the rumor I heard goes, he said,
- 36:28Speaker 1: I I just didn't quite nail it. I need to
- 36:30Speaker 1: I need to scrap that week and start over. And
- 36:32Speaker 1: and the DreamWorks producers, including Spielberg and the other fellas,
- 36:36Speaker 1: let him do it.
- 36:36Speaker 2: That's interesting because Spielberg's very much involved in Back to
- 36:39Speaker 2: the Futures.
- 36:40Speaker 1: So maybe he's the kind of producer that if you're little,
- 36:42Speaker 1: let's say with Sam mende Sorry Sam Mendy's first film,
- 36:45Speaker 1: and I love American Beauty, please see that if you haven't.
- 36:47Speaker 1: But I I again, it might be Hollywood lore, but
- 36:50Speaker 1: I heard that that that they they sort of started
- 36:52Speaker 1: over again on that one. So these stories were were
- 36:54Speaker 1: some movie is so incredible, it has such an impact.
- 36:58Speaker 1: And then there's there's something that hap happened where they RecA.
- 37:01Speaker 3: What happens all the time some you know, some Star
- 37:03Speaker 3: Wars movie. They did that with some of the Star
- 37:05Speaker 3: Wars movies, like Rogue one. Apparently there's a whole you know,
- 37:08Speaker 3: they shot almost all of Rogue one and went back
- 37:11Speaker 3: and reshot a lot of the stuff in it. Really, yeah,
- 37:16Speaker 3: same thing with the same thing with Solo.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Remember, you know, of.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Course that's changing, that's changing the directors. That's that's even crazy.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's a whole cut. There's a whole movie,
- 37:25Speaker 2: according to Lore, Yeah, there's a whole movie that they
- 37:28Speaker 2: made that you can actually take all of the special
- 37:31Speaker 2: effects and all of the things that they did in
- 37:34Speaker 2: the actual Solo movie and you can put it into
- 37:38Speaker 2: what they shot and it's a completely different movie. But
- 37:41Speaker 2: it's still all fits.
- 37:42Speaker 1: What do you think happened? They were obviously my guess
- 37:44Speaker 1: is they were just doing their hilarious improv comedic thing.
- 37:47Speaker 1: And then Kathleen Kennedy that's her name, did she just
- 37:50Speaker 1: not like that style. She's saying, that's not Star Wars.
- 37:53Speaker 2: No, I don't know if it was her.
- 37:54Speaker 3: I don't know if it was I don't know if
- 37:57Speaker 3: it was the writer of the movie who's gone on
- 37:59Speaker 3: to write some incredible.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Movies, Jonathan Kasden.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Jonathan, but his dad wrote Raiders Are the Lost Dark Ye.
- 38:07Speaker 3: Lawrence Kasten, Yeah, he wrote rais of the Lost Dark
- 38:09Speaker 3: The Empire strikes Back, and they both teamed up to
- 38:12Speaker 3: write solo.
- 38:12Speaker 2: I don't know what happened. I'd love to know that story.
- 38:15Speaker 3: We could reach out to them and they want to
- 38:16Speaker 3: be on the podcast, and right here they want.
- 38:18Speaker 1: To I don't think about I don't think even if
- 38:20Speaker 1: we were to get christ and Phil on the podcast,
- 38:22Speaker 1: I don't think they're gonna out their whole song.
- 38:25Speaker 2: Let's ask Jonathan Kasen and Lawrence Caston. They'll never do it.
- 38:28Speaker 2: I don't think how cool would it be if I
- 38:30Speaker 2: could go and cut to and then they said it.
- 38:38Speaker 1: You know, as the podcast gets bigger and bigger, maybe
- 38:41Speaker 1: we'll be able to get like really fancy guests like
- 38:43Speaker 1: and now Lawrence Kusten.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:48Speaker 1: I always wondered what happened with that, because I don't
- 38:49Speaker 1: know why you'd hire Kristen phil If not to do
- 38:52Speaker 1: what they do so well, which was to make it funny.
- 38:56Speaker 1: And it seems to me not as someone who's just
- 38:58Speaker 1: dialed into the Star Wars universe as you. But when
- 39:00Speaker 1: I think of Han Solo, I think, oh, let's give
- 39:03Speaker 1: him some jokes, Let's have him be quippie and funny,
- 39:06Speaker 1: and it seemed like a perfect marriage.
- 39:08Speaker 3: But it would be a real interesting it'd be very
- 39:10Speaker 3: interesting to see that, you know that side. And I
- 39:13Speaker 3: love Solo, you know what I mean. There are a
- 39:14Speaker 3: lot of people out there that really like that movie,
- 39:17Speaker 3: and I'm one of those people. It's a fun Star
- 39:20Speaker 3: Wars movie.
- 39:21Speaker 1: So then Ron Howard came in.
- 39:23Speaker 2: And you know, he's an amazing director himself, right, you.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Know, it's one of my favorite Ron Howard movies is
- 39:29Speaker 1: Parenthood the movie if you.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Have great cast.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Great movie went on to make a very popular TV
- 39:36Speaker 1: show starring my doppelganger, Dad Sheppard.
- 39:38Speaker 2: I'm gonna say.
- 39:38Speaker 3: Something right now, that movie has one of my favorite actors.
- 39:41Speaker 3: I am a huge fan of Rick moranis.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Yeah, Moran's been He's amazing.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Yeah, he's on his way. I guess he's he's agreed
- 39:48Speaker 2: to do another project.
- 39:49Speaker 1: I don't know what it is, but he's honey shrunk
- 39:51Speaker 1: the kids. Maybe he's coming back for that.
- 39:52Speaker 2: That would be so awesome.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I know they're redoing that with Josh Gadd and I
- 39:56Speaker 1: think that he might be joining him. O. Well's nodding
- 40:00Speaker 1: so that.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:02Speaker 5: Rick Morana's tragically lost his wife at the height of
- 40:04Speaker 5: his career, so he quit to raise his.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Children, and now his children are grown and he's coming back.
- 40:10Speaker 5: So excited.
- 40:11Speaker 1: God, he's so talented. I'm so I'm so happy he's
- 40:13Speaker 1: coming back. He's a funny, funny man.
- 40:16Speaker 2: All right, let's get back to the show.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Let's get back to the show.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Donald one of my favorite fantasies. Uh, and I still
- 40:22Speaker 2: use it to this day. I ain't buying it. Trying
- 40:26Speaker 2: to sell somebody the book on the kid getting hit,
- 40:29Speaker 2: the baby with prenatal lice. Yeah, and Christa says. Jordan says,
- 40:35Speaker 2: I'm buying it at the time.
- 40:37Speaker 1: That's funny. And you passed something that I want to
- 40:39Speaker 1: say still about shaving the baby's head. That was funny.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Oh when when Johnny's mad that I didn't correctly tape
- 40:44Speaker 1: over the and by the way, for those of you young,
- 40:46Speaker 1: that's that's a VHS recorder. So there used to be
- 40:49Speaker 1: these giant tapes called VHS tapes. But I was laughing
- 40:53Speaker 1: and when Johnny's yelling at me because I fucked up
- 40:56Speaker 1: the tape and I go, I was there. I could,
- 40:59Speaker 1: you know, jot down some of my feelings and impressions.
- 41:05Speaker 1: It's very and I could. I could jot down some
- 41:09Speaker 1: of my feelings and impressions, like I was gonna what
- 41:13Speaker 1: am I gonna do? Like right down like and then
- 41:15Speaker 1: the head emerge. Let's talk about Johnny c McGinley as
- 41:22Speaker 1: the Grinch. That was really funny.
- 41:23Speaker 2: He nailed that, Yes he did. And the words that
- 41:28Speaker 2: he's saying are those words from doctor.
- 41:31Speaker 1: I think they're supposed to be doctor Seussie, but they're
- 41:34Speaker 1: not real suits.
- 41:34Speaker 2: But they're not real words.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Yeah. But they did a great job on his hair
- 41:38Speaker 1: and makeup. I thought he looked really cool and he was.
- 41:40Speaker 1: It was funny looking.
- 41:40Speaker 2: I wonder how long he was in hair and makeup for.
- 41:42Speaker 1: I could I could tell from from being on the
- 41:45Speaker 1: show that was hours and hours and hours.
- 41:47Speaker 2: He had hair like green hair glued to his face
- 41:49Speaker 2: and stuff.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Yeah, sinner man by Nina Simone, which is they really
- 41:53Speaker 1: must have rolled out the bucks for it to pay
- 41:55Speaker 1: for Nina Simone on this episode, as you run to
- 41:58Speaker 1: the Tamiller Park.
- 41:59Speaker 3: Miller Park, you know, that was what I was talking
- 42:02Speaker 3: about when we were talking about the platform shoes, and
- 42:06Speaker 3: they made Deontaey do all of the things that you
- 42:09Speaker 3: saw me do in that episode in like twelve inch
- 42:13Speaker 3: platform shoes.
- 42:14Speaker 2: However much shorter he is than me, but eight inch whatever.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Why are you running? Why are you running like a
- 42:19Speaker 1: cartoon character? Do you notice that? It's like this really
- 42:22Speaker 1: dramatic moment, and then you're taking corners. You know when
- 42:25Speaker 1: cartoon people run, they're like skin at the corners and
- 42:27Speaker 1: they have to like they have to like catch up tea.
- 42:30Speaker 1: You're doing that shit.
- 42:32Speaker 2: It's all. It all comes from Michael J. Fox Man speaking.
- 42:36Speaker 2: We spoke about him earlier. It really is true, man, Mike.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Michael J.
- 42:40Speaker 3: Fox had some of the best running moments in the
- 42:43Speaker 3: history of running in teen Wolf when he's running through
- 42:47Speaker 3: the halls and the guy's mopping and he's like it's
- 42:49Speaker 3: slippery that way, and Mike runs through and then slides
- 42:53Speaker 3: all the way through camera right the way through the
- 42:55Speaker 3: hallway and then comes running back. But as he's coming back,
- 42:58Speaker 3: he's trying to keep his balance on this slippery floor.
- 43:01Speaker 1: So you're saying that moment you're running, and this was inspiring.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Everything everything I you know, everything I've done.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Everything I do, I do it for you, I do
- 43:10Speaker 1: it for Michael J.
- 43:12Speaker 5: Fox.
- 43:12Speaker 3: Well, no, but every there's a you know, whether it's
- 43:15Speaker 3: a run or a walk, or you know, a facial expression.
- 43:19Speaker 3: A lot of these come from my favorite actors, So
- 43:21Speaker 3: like Harrison Ford, Denzel Washington, Sidney Potier, Michael J. Fox,
- 43:26Speaker 3: Rick Moranis, Robin Williams, Bill Murray. You know, all of
- 43:31Speaker 3: these people did something that I saw and I was like,
- 43:33Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm gonna try and.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Wrote I wrote down in nineteen eighteen. Turk runs like
- 43:39Speaker 1: a cartoon character, right.
- 43:41Speaker 2: That all came from me trying to run like Michael J. Fox. Yeah.
- 43:44Speaker 1: So Turk gets a sign. He's on the roof again,
- 43:47Speaker 1: right on the roof again. Yeah, And you're just up
- 43:49Speaker 1: there having a moment and you have a come to
- 43:52Speaker 1: Jesus moment if you will, that there's a pregnant woman
- 43:55Speaker 1: about to give birth in the park, and you run
- 43:58Speaker 1: and you run like a cartoon character to Nina Simone's
- 44:01Speaker 1: Cinnerman beautiful song, and then you run to the park
- 44:06Speaker 1: and you deliver a baby. Now, Churk probably hasn't delivered
- 44:08Speaker 1: that many babies.
- 44:09Speaker 2: Oh he's a surgeon, I imagine.
- 44:11Speaker 1: But he's not. Yeah, he's probably done a fair amount.
- 44:14Speaker 2: I imagine that he's he's not a ghino.
- 44:15Speaker 1: But I know I want to go to some of Joel.
- 44:19Speaker 1: The speaking of guinos, we're jumping around, but in the
- 44:21Speaker 1: very beginning of the episode, Kelso is is being sexist
- 44:24Speaker 1: and saying to Sarah that she's going to become a
- 44:27Speaker 1: guy of collegers obgyn and then Joel found this thing.
- 44:31Speaker 1: According to an article by the American Medical Association the
- 44:34Speaker 1: Breakdown of Specialties dominated by women in twenty nineteen, eighty
- 44:40Speaker 1: three point four percent of obgyns are women. Wow, and
- 44:46Speaker 1: seventy two percent of pediatricians are women. Am I reading
- 44:49Speaker 1: that right, Joel? What I thought was writ well, I
- 44:54Speaker 1: mean I was offended by Kelso. I was like, fuck
- 44:58Speaker 1: this guy, and then Joel handed me and uh, you know,
- 45:02Speaker 1: I guess, but I understand that, like I I was
- 45:05Speaker 1: your was your have your O B G Y n
- 45:07Speaker 1: has been been female or male?
- 45:10Speaker 5: Uh?
- 45:10Speaker 2: First one was a guy.
- 45:12Speaker 1: I was asking Donald, Joel, but please god, Joel.
- 45:19Speaker 2: This questions like for his wife.
- 45:22Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'm laughing so hard. Joel got so
- 45:25Speaker 1: lost in the episode. She started answering, you're totally wait, Joel. Sorry,
- 45:30Speaker 1: I want I want you to answer. Don't get me wrong,
- 45:33Speaker 1: but but you go first, then and then we'll call
- 45:35Speaker 1: on Donald. Donald has had eleven thousand children, so I
- 45:37Speaker 1: wanted to know what go for you, Joel.
- 45:40Speaker 5: Have your O B G Y n's been uh mostly
- 45:43Speaker 5: mostly three women, one guy?
- 45:45Speaker 1: How about you? Donald? Casey's is a male m HM
- 45:50Speaker 1: and you and and your other other baby mamas? Do
- 45:52Speaker 1: you remember you don't remember? It's okay not to remember.
- 45:55Speaker 2: I don't.
- 45:55Speaker 1: I feel like if I was giving birth and I
- 45:57Speaker 1: had a vagina, i'd want a woman. But maybe maybe
- 46:00Speaker 1: that's ridiculous to say. I just what's my gut respect?
- 46:02Speaker 3: Okay, Well, here's a here's here's a good survey. We
- 46:05Speaker 3: should we should do, and we won't and we won't
- 46:07Speaker 3: use uh that as an example. Let's use massaging as
- 46:11Speaker 3: an example. Okay, yeah, yeah, because that's pretty intimate and
- 46:15Speaker 3: it's harmless.
- 46:15Speaker 1: And what do you get a man or a woman?
- 46:18Speaker 2: Exactly? What do you get a man?
- 46:19Speaker 1: I always get a woman.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Same here, Joelle, strongest hands, who has the strongest hands?
- 46:25Speaker 1: So that's what you say.
- 46:26Speaker 2: You say, you say who's got the best hands.
- 46:28Speaker 1: So when they say manner of female, male or female,
- 46:30Speaker 1: you say strongest hands.
- 46:32Speaker 2: Absolutely. Oh the end.
- 46:33Speaker 1: I thought it was funny that Sarah was you're holding
- 46:36Speaker 1: Judy like in front of you, but Sarah's holding me
- 46:38Speaker 1: in front of her, right in front of the Christmas tree.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Yes, yes, I also there was one other part that
- 46:45Speaker 3: we should talk about, and that's uh, when Cox and
- 46:49Speaker 3: Jordan are fighting each other about the haircut, shaving and
- 46:52Speaker 3: everything like that, and then you jump in the middle
- 46:54Speaker 3: and then they automatically turn on j D. And that's
- 46:59Speaker 3: a lesson that I've learned at a that I learned
- 47:02Speaker 3: at a young age. I guess JD was never you know,
- 47:05Speaker 3: I didn't have friends that had brothers or sisters or.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Anything like that. But never get involved when a couple
- 47:11Speaker 2: is fighting. You stay out of it unless they invite
- 47:15Speaker 2: you into the argument. Stay away because that thing will
- 47:18Speaker 2: turn on you so quick.
- 47:19Speaker 1: It's hard sometimes because you want to weigh in but
- 47:21Speaker 1: you can't.
- 47:22Speaker 2: But you can't.
- 47:22Speaker 3: You got to keep it to yourself. You got to
- 47:24Speaker 3: keep it to yourself. I had friends growing up, the
- 47:27Speaker 3: Rogers brothers, there was four of them, right, and they
- 47:29Speaker 3: would you know, when they fought, they would fight viciously,
- 47:32Speaker 3: punching and grabbing and choking, and you know, they would
- 47:34Speaker 3: beat each other up and you'd be like, you guys,
- 47:37Speaker 3: are brothers, stop it, and you'd get in the middle
- 47:39Speaker 3: of it, and then their anger all of a sudden
- 47:42Speaker 3: went from them wanting to kick each other's ass to
- 47:45Speaker 3: now them kicking your ass. And two on one ain't fun, dude,
- 47:48Speaker 3: or three on one, four on one ain't fun, man,
- 47:51Speaker 3: and it would.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Be it would be I would So when JD did
- 47:55Speaker 2: that to Jordan and Cox, I was like, that's the
- 47:59Speaker 2: dumb that's that's a rookie mistake. That's the dumbest move ever.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Never get involved in couples arguing.
- 48:04Speaker 1: Right right, Well, I I definitely try and stay out,
- 48:08Speaker 1: But in your head you're thinking, like you're you're judging,
- 48:11Speaker 1: and you're saying, like, but aren't you also happy when
- 48:13Speaker 1: you're out in public and you see a couple fighting
- 48:14Speaker 1: and you're like, yes, it's not me.
- 48:16Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely absolutely. That's the one thing that my wife
- 48:20Speaker 3: and I try not to do. It's always like to wait,
- 48:23Speaker 3: wait till we get home, wait till week.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Oh really you do the wait we get home.
- 48:27Speaker 2: I don't do that. That's what she does to me.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Really, we can talk when we get home, right, and
- 48:33Speaker 1: I know, right.
- 48:33Speaker 2: There and there, I'm not going to I'm not going
- 48:35Speaker 2: to sleep tonight worse.
- 48:37Speaker 1: And then you have to drive home and just like
- 48:38Speaker 1: in silence.
- 48:39Speaker 3: Yeah, and then you walk in and it's on. And
- 48:43Speaker 3: my wife's the type of person that's like, I don't
- 48:46Speaker 3: like going to ben mad.
- 48:47Speaker 1: Well, at least she has it out, you know. I
- 48:49Speaker 1: think that's way better to have it out, even if
- 48:51Speaker 1: it's like impassioned, rather than just sitting on it.
- 48:53Speaker 2: I hate that.
- 48:54Speaker 1: And I don't think you should go to sleep mad either.
- 48:57Speaker 1: I think that's a good a good habit to have.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Try.
- 49:01Speaker 3: And dude, I've been I've been damn near sleeping where
- 49:03Speaker 3: I'm just in uh, where I'm passed out, my eyes
- 49:07Speaker 3: are closed, and I'm just agreeing now right, just so.
- 49:10Speaker 1: I could go to sleep the path of least resistance.
- 49:12Speaker 2: And she'll be like, so, what did I say, and
- 49:14Speaker 2: I'll be like, oh gosh, there you go, say you
- 49:19Speaker 2: are listen. I was listening.
- 49:23Speaker 1: Don't go to been angry everybody. That's a lesson here
- 49:25Speaker 1: from fake Doctor's real friends.
- 49:27Speaker 2: Oh one last thing I forgotten. Let's ask Bill about this.
- 49:30Speaker 1: Also, go ahead, before you're gonna get two, you're gonna
- 49:33Speaker 1: get Bill too this week.
- 49:33Speaker 3: Okay, go Aheadah, okay, So there was an alternate ending
- 49:36Speaker 3: to this episode, right, but that's it's so dark, so dark.
- 49:41Speaker 2: It was so dark to end the Christmas episode.
- 49:43Speaker 1: I wasn't even bring it up because we were being
- 49:44Speaker 1: so giddy and it's a bit it's a bit dark,
- 49:46Speaker 1: but okay, go for it.
- 49:47Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a dark ending to this episode, and
- 49:49Speaker 2: I'm sure.
- 49:49Speaker 1: That I don't think it was it was it an ending,
- 49:51Speaker 1: or it was a subplot that was woven through.
- 49:54Speaker 3: I think it was a subplot. It might have been
- 49:55Speaker 3: let's ask Bill Bill. I know at the end of
- 49:58Speaker 3: this episode, there was a moment between Jordan and Uh.
- 50:02Speaker 3: We almost forgot about the call. There was a moment
- 50:05Speaker 3: with Jordan and Uh and Uh and Cox where they
- 50:10Speaker 3: said something different when they were looking at the baby.
- 50:13Speaker 3: When they finally went to visit the baby.
- 50:15Speaker 1: And there was no there was a subplot. Do you
- 50:18Speaker 1: want me to tell you what it is and then
- 50:19Speaker 1: have Bill talk about it. Sure, there was a subplot
- 50:21Speaker 1: that they when they were together, had lost a child,
- 50:25Speaker 1: and so that was some of the dramatic undertones of
- 50:29Speaker 1: of them and dealing with their friends having a new baby.
- 50:34Speaker 2: And I that's why they didn't want to go to
- 50:35Speaker 2: the room, right.
- 50:36Speaker 1: And I believe or the or the nursery where you
- 50:39Speaker 1: see kids, and I believe that Bill had an argument
- 50:42Speaker 1: with the network about cutting that out. So Bill tell
- 50:47Speaker 1: us about that and what your struggle with the network was, please, you.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Know, it's interesting.
- 50:51Speaker 6: I don't remember specifically the struggle with the Jordan Cox
- 50:54Speaker 6: losing a baby thing. But the one thing that we
- 50:57Speaker 6: were always dealing with early on in Scrubbs was that
- 51:01Speaker 6: we would pitch the network stories that weren't specifically comedies,
- 51:07Speaker 6: you know, and it didn't sound like, Hey, three patients
- 51:10Speaker 6: come in and one of the three of them is
- 51:11Speaker 6: gonna die, but they all three die. Hey, doctor Cox
- 51:14Speaker 6: used to be married to someone, they lost a baby.
- 51:17Speaker 6: Hey we're gonna introduce a super big movie star guest
- 51:20Speaker 6: star who seems really funny in jovial, but he's gonna
- 51:23Speaker 6: have leukemia and then come back next year and die
- 51:25Speaker 6: from it. So we always met resistance.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Thank you, Bill.
- 51:30Speaker 2: Let's take a break.
- 51:31Speaker 1: We'll be right back after these fine words. Now, Joelle,
- 51:42Speaker 1: I believe we have a caller or two.
- 51:46Speaker 4: Hi, guys, how are you doing? Brian good?
- 51:48Speaker 5: How are you?
- 51:48Speaker 2: Brian?
- 51:49Speaker 1: O'mallly, Oh my god, Brian, you got to record that somehow.
- 51:54Speaker 4: I am recording it actually, And you.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Know what, Brian, that can be your your new ringtone.
- 51:58Speaker 1: Donald giving you an.
- 51:59Speaker 2: Oprah no.
- 52:02Speaker 4: And what that is definitely gonnapp speaking of.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Ringtones, I digress for a moment. The good people at
- 52:09Speaker 1: iHeart are putting together the ability for for folks to
- 52:14Speaker 1: have our theme song be your ringtone. We're working on
- 52:17Speaker 1: it and that's in the works because I've been getting
- 52:19Speaker 1: a lot of love on the social media for our
- 52:22Speaker 1: theme song, especially Wilder's version, and Wilder's version.
- 52:26Speaker 2: Will not be that's not going to be available.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Wilder's version will not be available for ringtone, although I
- 52:31Speaker 1: did hear a lot of people say that should be
- 52:33Speaker 1: the new version forget your version, but those people are wrong,
- 52:36Speaker 1: but pretty much right.
- 52:37Speaker 2: What you drinking man?
- 52:38Speaker 1: What are you drinking? Brian? Uh, this is beer? Okay?
- 52:42Speaker 2: What kind of beer you got there?
- 52:43Speaker 4: It's like a hazy I p a juicy eight percent.
- 52:47Speaker 4: I like stuff that's strong.
- 52:48Speaker 2: Okay, Well I got myself a little margarita. Awesome?
- 52:53Speaker 4: Is that just like lime juice? Tequila?
- 52:55Speaker 2: I don't know what they use. It's Casa Vega in
- 52:58Speaker 2: my neighborhood that they.
- 53:00Speaker 1: You're still drinking out of your your gallons there?
- 53:02Speaker 2: We have so many.
- 53:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that's awesome. Hi, guys, where do you live in?
- 53:06Speaker 1: What's happening in? Brian introduced your your girlfriend wife? Friend?
- 53:10Speaker 4: This is my partner. This is doctor Ellen, a grey doc,
- 53:14Speaker 4: Hi doc, and uh, we live in Evanston. Illin.
- 53:18Speaker 5: Oh, I went to Northwestern right, Yeah, so we we
- 53:22Speaker 5: we both worked here actually too. She works at a
- 53:25Speaker 5: hospital here and I own a small business on Central Street,
- 53:28Speaker 5: you know, right down from the stadium.
- 53:31Speaker 4: And so yeah, we just we do that and Ellen
- 53:34Speaker 4: is uh eight and yeah, almost nine months pregnant and finish.
- 53:40Speaker 1: Congratulations.
- 53:41Speaker 2: Congratulations. Do you guys know what you're having?
- 53:43Speaker 4: A boy?
- 53:44Speaker 2: Nice person, but yeah, a person.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Congratulations guys. That's cool.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Way to go, guys.
- 53:52Speaker 5: Yeah, so we're you know, it's definitely, uh, anxiety causing
- 53:56Speaker 5: you know, I we neither of us have had kids before.
- 53:59Speaker 4: I used to be a teacher.
- 54:01Speaker 5: But it's not quite the same when you know you
- 54:03Speaker 5: can send them home at like three o'clock and just
- 54:04Speaker 5: be front of them. So now it's like they're here
- 54:07Speaker 5: for good.
- 54:08Speaker 2: Okay, But Brian, I'm gonna give you a little.
- 54:09Speaker 1: Bit of you're talking to the right man, Brian Donald kids.
- 54:13Speaker 3: Okay, that's what I heard, right, Yeah, something like that.
- 54:16Speaker 3: He doesn't even remember something like that.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Right, that's a great that's a great story. How many
- 54:21Speaker 2: kids you got?
- 54:22Speaker 1: Something like nine thing sixth that I know about.
- 54:26Speaker 2: So the first year, Brian, there's not much you can do,
- 54:32Speaker 2: that's the honest to goodness truth, except be supportive. Change diapers.
- 54:38Speaker 2: But there's not much you can do cause the baby.
- 54:39Speaker 1: You can can't you say, honey, can I get you anything?
- 54:42Speaker 3: Absolutely better say that you have to, right, Yeah, that's
- 54:45Speaker 3: being supportive. So there's not much you can do the
- 54:48Speaker 3: first year. It's after that where you are you are
- 54:52Speaker 3: hands on and in it to win it or she's
- 54:54Speaker 3: gonna leave you.
- 54:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, yeah, Brian, write that down.
- 55:00Speaker 5: Yes, yes, she is basically keeping us comfortable so I'm
- 55:03Speaker 5: not gonna play with that at all.
- 55:06Speaker 1: Right, Well, I'm so. I'm so happy for you. That's
- 55:08Speaker 1: exciting and thank you.
- 55:09Speaker 2: And what do you do?
- 55:10Speaker 1: You have any names in mind, like Zach or Donald.
- 55:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I wanted Jennifer Dylan or something like that.
- 55:16Speaker 1: That will work.
- 55:19Speaker 4: It's a boy.
- 55:20Speaker 1: So we went with we're gonna even Gabriel and calm.
- 55:24Speaker 2: Gabe, beautiful, I love it, beautiful.
- 55:26Speaker 1: Beautiful name Gabe.
- 55:28Speaker 4: Finn O'Malley.
- 55:29Speaker 1: Oh, Finn's a good name.
- 55:31Speaker 2: Too, now, Finn from Star Wars or just Finn.
- 55:34Speaker 1: Because everything is Star Wars. Donald sometimes it can be.
- 55:38Speaker 5: I couldn't, honestly, I was thinking more Huck Finn from
- 55:41Speaker 5: Mark Twain to be okay.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Well, yeah, there's that Fin to way more literary Donald.
- 55:45Speaker 1: Come on, there's that all right, Brian, go ahead with
- 55:47Speaker 1: your question for the legendary Donald.
- 55:50Speaker 4: And it's for both of you.
- 55:52Speaker 5: Yeah, answer, It definitely relates to what we were talking about.
- 55:56Speaker 5: But I was curious of which character between you and
- 56:00Speaker 5: Donald and maybe doctor Cox, do you think was like
- 56:04Speaker 5: the best dad overall? And then kind of a follow up,
- 56:07Speaker 5: but like, what do you think their kids would be
- 56:09Speaker 5: like now? Like fifteen twenty years later.
- 56:12Speaker 1: Wow, Wow, good question. Well, I do think both characters
- 56:15Speaker 1: were very excited about their children. And I think we
- 56:20Speaker 1: saw from a flash forward as I recall that don't
- 56:22Speaker 1: they end up getting married?
- 56:24Speaker 2: They do and we lose it.
- 56:25Speaker 4: Oh that was, like, I think it's the saddest episode.
- 56:28Speaker 2: I think.
- 56:29Speaker 1: I faintd as I recall I did this, I wiped
- 56:33Speaker 1: my I fanned my eyes and fainted. Yeah, that's a
- 56:36Speaker 1: gift I see all the time. I don't know. I
- 56:40Speaker 1: think we'd be great parents, because you know, we're both
- 56:43Speaker 1: characters were again not afraid of showing emotion, not afraid
- 56:48Speaker 1: of being affectionate. My father was very a very affectionate
- 56:52Speaker 1: man and gave me hugs and kissed me and and
- 56:57Speaker 1: and I always thought that that was and I love
- 57:01Speaker 1: that he did that. And I think that both Turk
- 57:04Speaker 1: and j D would be very involved. They're the kind
- 57:06Speaker 1: of fathers that would want to be all over it.
- 57:09Speaker 1: Not one of those people's like, all right, you to
- 57:11Speaker 1: the woman, you handle it. I'll i'll coach sports one day.
- 57:16Speaker 1: That was that was not my experience.
- 57:19Speaker 2: What I think. And j D co parented too, you
- 57:23Speaker 2: know what I mean.
- 57:24Speaker 3: I think they helped each other out as far as
- 57:27Speaker 3: raising their kids went. You know, they say it takes
- 57:30Speaker 3: a village to raise a child, and I think their
- 57:34Speaker 3: little village. I think the hospital or you know, wherever
- 57:38Speaker 3: they wound up when the show ended. I believe they
- 57:43Speaker 3: still lived in the same proximity of each other. I
- 57:46Speaker 3: think there it was a communal raising of the children,
- 57:50Speaker 3: even even Uh, I think yeah, I think j D
- 57:55Speaker 3: Uh and Uh.
- 57:56Speaker 2: What was what was Elizabeth Banks character's name, Kim? Was
- 58:00Speaker 2: it Kim?
- 58:01Speaker 1: Kim?
- 58:02Speaker 2: You didn't know, Zach.
- 58:06Speaker 1: I was waiting for Brian. I was waiting for Brian.
- 58:08Speaker 1: I was I was like, I was like this, I
- 58:11Speaker 1: was like about to say it. I was like pretending
- 58:13Speaker 1: that my mouth was opening, and then Brian said, Kim.
- 58:15Speaker 4: Donald, I was waiting for Zach.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Sorry, So my baby mama, my baby mama.
- 58:19Speaker 2: Right.
- 58:19Speaker 3: So I think both kids, the one that he that
- 58:22Speaker 3: JD had with Kim and the one that he had
- 58:24Speaker 3: with Elliott Uh, and then Turk's kids as well.
- 58:27Speaker 2: I think they they were raised together and they grew
- 58:30Speaker 2: up together.
- 58:32Speaker 5: I think in one of the episode, you try to like,
- 58:34Speaker 5: I think they got you were trying to set them
- 58:35Speaker 5: up right.
- 58:36Speaker 4: Like it was one of the series finales.
- 58:38Speaker 2: Maybe that we were trying to set the kids up.
- 58:40Speaker 4: Yeah, weren't they like they met or something and they remember.
- 58:45Speaker 1: I remember I remember doing an episode in the park.
- 58:47Speaker 3: Where Gloquist dolls like, dum, of course, do you have
- 58:53Speaker 3: another question?
- 58:55Speaker 4: I mean one of my other questions was just, you know,
- 58:57Speaker 4: advice for being a dad. But you you kind of
- 58:59Speaker 4: already covered that.
- 59:00Speaker 3: You got this, dude, you got. I mean, it's listen,
- 59:03Speaker 3: my advice, and I'm gonna be honest with you. My
- 59:05Speaker 3: advice ain't shit. I'm gonna keep it one hundred with you.
- 59:07Speaker 4: You know.
- 59:08Speaker 3: It's it's how you two decide to do the thing,
- 59:12Speaker 3: you know what I mean. My advice I can all
- 59:14Speaker 3: I can say is just just show as much love
- 59:17Speaker 3: as you can to your boy.
- 59:19Speaker 2: That's so important.
- 59:20Speaker 4: I like what Zach was saying too.
- 59:22Speaker 5: I mean, I mean and Ellen were joking, but I
- 59:23Speaker 5: was like, I think, like the fact that JD was
- 59:26Speaker 5: a sensy, you know, like being sensitive is like an
- 59:29Speaker 5: important thing to impart in kids early, especially boys I
- 59:33Speaker 5: think nowadays, And so I think that's one of our
- 59:35Speaker 5: you know, our big focuses for him.
- 59:37Speaker 1: And and just let them be whoever they are.
- 59:39Speaker 4: You know.
- 59:39Speaker 1: A testament to my father was he wasn't. He was
- 59:41Speaker 1: so into sports, my dad, but he wasn't trying to
- 59:44Speaker 1: make me a job.
- 59:45Speaker 2: He wasn't.
- 59:46Speaker 1: Unfortunately, he was also into theater, which which is what
- 59:48Speaker 1: I took to. But but I mean, just like my advice.
- 59:51Speaker 1: And again, I have no kids, so don't listen to me.
- 59:53Speaker 1: I have dogs, and I can highly recommend great training.
- 59:55Speaker 2: Uh try that, but with the kid.
- 59:59Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I always say to Donald when I
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: when I say to when I'm with Donald and his
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: kids are misbehaving, I'm like, why don't you just put
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: him in the crate?
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Dude?
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: That works great for my puppy.
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: My daughter looked at me and she was like, you're
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: gonna put me in the Crate's right now?
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: She's like, but I'm not a dog, But I mean,
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: just let them.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: One of the things I one of the things I
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: really cherished about my relationship with my father was that
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: he was so accepting of whoever his kids were. And
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: I you know, you're obviously it's nature nurture. You're going
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: to be shaping a part of who they are, of
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: course too, but but let them show you who they are.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: And then and then and then celebrate that and let
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: that flourish. Again. That's coming from someone with no children,
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: but it is coming from someone who who had a
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: great dad and and and and was really appreciative that
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: he was.
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: Like that, Well, can I ask one more things sort
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: of related? But did you guys you know I didn't
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: like look up biographies. Do you guys have siblings?
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: Yes? I have several siblings.
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: I have four brothers, two that I grew up with
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: and two that I I did not grow up with.
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: But we were a big family. I think that's why
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: I have such a big family. Now I feel like
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: it's the more, the.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: Merrier I have.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: I have two, I have three. Sorry, let me start again.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: I had four children total in my family, and I'm sorry,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: I'm struggling with this. Just to be honest, I lost
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: my sister two years ago, so I'm like literally trying.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: It's okay, but I'm trying to answer this question honestly,
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: and it's like I'm having to recount. There were four
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: children in my family, and then my parents got divorced
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: and remarried and I gained three stepsisters, so two stepsisters
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: on one side, one step sister on the other side,
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: so we were a huge family and and yeah, so
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: I also think I should have more So sorry, sorry guys,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: but you're gonna have to have more kids so they can.
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: Well that's what I was thinking, because we only have
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: the one, and that's probably gonna be it, so, you know,
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: the whole only child, especially nowadays when I don't even
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: know when he'll be able to hang out with other kids,
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: you know, or if he'll be able to go to
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: preschool or stuff like that daycare.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: Right, I think you got it some years before. You
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: be worried about that, so you'll believe.
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: Vaccines or will be infended and we can all go
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: back to a new normal, right sometime within a year
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: or two.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be awesome. Is the keg still open
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: in Evanston? The bar? No, that's where we used to
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: go and try and sneak in with our fake id's.
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: Yeah, we're like, that's probably why they close type place.
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: The name of your place, it's called Beer on Central.
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: It's not very inventive because.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: I want us to do an ad for right now,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: We're gonna do an ad for it. Donald, But I'm
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: in Evanston, Illinois, and I want a beer. You know
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: where I go?
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: Where do you go, Zach?
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: I go to Beer on Central?
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: Beer on Central?
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: Oh?
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: Yes, Oh it's a place and it's in Evanston. And
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: if you're gonna buy beer, it's the best place to
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: buy beer. It's called beer on Central.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: Is it on Central?
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: It's on Central. It's called beer on Central.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: Awesome.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: And you know a lot of Northwestern students are always
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: looking for a place to buy beer. Yeah. Do you
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: tell Keggs Brian?
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: We don't, but I mean after this, I can.
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: Yes, Brian is gonna change his whole business model to
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: offer kegs to all you.
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: Can advertisement, I'll do that.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: Yes, this is worth millions of dollars in free advertising.
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: Yeah no, this is insane.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: So Donald Central Beer on Central.
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: The next time I'm in Evanston, Illinois, I am going
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: to check out Beer on Central.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: And you know what, Donald, You know what, Donald, I
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: might even just go to Evanston to buy beer from
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: Beer on Central.
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: You know what, if you do, just tell him, Brian
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: O'Malley Senia.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: I will Brian, what's a beer that you are the.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: Only one there?
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: So like Brian now doing everything.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Brian for those of people who are listening, who like
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: who like beer? Can you recommend one of your micro
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: brewer or fancy beers that people should try that you
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: highly recommend.
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: You know, right now?
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: Like what's really popular is, like I was drinking earlier,
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: these like hazy I pas there tend to be like
- 1:03:59Speaker 5: kind of strong, very juicy, not bitter, very popular. This
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: one's from Saint Eron. They're great, hot butcher. There's a
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: bunch of really cool ones in the city.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: So so Saint amazing. So Saint Aaron is the brand
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: this one.
- 1:04:11Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what I'm having now is a Saint Aaron.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Can I get that anywhere? Can I get that in
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: Los Angeles? No?
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: Like right now, we only do local stuff, oh much,
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: only doing.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: That's even cool. One of the other things I like
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: about beer on Central Donald it's all it's all local beer.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: Oh you're talking about beer on Central. Yeah.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: One of the things that one of my favorite things
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: about beer on Central in Evanston, Illinois is that it's
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: all all stocked with local breweries.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: That sounds delicious.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: I like, I p a a lot by the way,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: and this is gonna sound really lame in Hollywood, but
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: I'm gluten free and there are some really good gluten
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: free ip A beers. Yeah, we have some too. There's
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: one called Omission. I'll give a shout out too. And
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: there's one I think called Gutenberger, not Steve Gutenberg. Glutenberg Glutenberg, yeah,
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Gluten in the title. So there you go. I'm giving
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: those beers a shout out, and they should advertise with
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: us because we're getting such a wonderful advertisement to beer.
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: You guys, out of box, you know, give me an address.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: I'm not giving you my address, give me a box.
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: I know.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: We don't want to take your your wares. We don't
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: want to take your weares. We want you to you
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: need to make that money for this baby.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: That's right. So that being said, if you're ever in Evanston, Illinois,
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: the place to go for a great local beer, Beer
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: on Central.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: Beer on Central, everybody Beer on Central, and uh listen, guys,
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: thanks for coming on, thanks for the good questions, thanks

- 1:05:46Speaker 1: and had a great time. Although it's too fucking cold
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: for human beings.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen, big round of applause for Brian o'milly
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: and beer on Central.

- 1:06:24Speaker 1: to do it.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: And over the button.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: You can just see the mixer in the back of
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: the Oprah show going, oh ship, she's gonna yell. And
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: I hope Dan does that when you're when you're saying
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: a load of guests, all right, bye, guys, thank.
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: You so much here, thank you so much. Healthy congratulations, thanks.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: Thank you?
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: Wow?
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: Donald? What what? Nice folks? Donald? And and I gotta
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: tell you, I'm gonna I'm gonna. I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: frequent beer on Central.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: Next time you're in Evanston, Illinois.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Do you drink beer? You don't only drink beer anymore,
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: do you.
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: I'm a huge drinker. I just you know, it's fine.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: I find yeah, I find that it's a little heavy
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: for me. That's the only thing.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: It just feels like ship when you're working out and
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: trying to stay thin and then you go have a
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: fucking big ass thick beer and you're like, I might
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: as well have a milkshake.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: Right, I like hard liquor. Yeah, I know, I like, Oh,
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: I know, you're an asshole. Well no, I I you know.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: I it was single de Mayo yesterday, so and the
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: last time I had to kill it was the last
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: thing that I had in the in the in the cupboard.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: But but I truly like, I like a good bourbon
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: or Scotch.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: What about Corvassier? No, what is what is Corvassier?
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: I don't it's a it's a drink. It's a it's
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: a it's a brown liquor.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: You know, for a while I was at Corvossier. She's looking.
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: I was a Hennessy drinker for a while, you know,
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: or ian J. I liked ian J back in the day.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: I don't know what any of these drinks are.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: You don't know what Hennessy is.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: I've heard of Hennessy, but I don't think I've ever tried.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: I don't know what You've had an incredible hulk before
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: and you don't know what hennessy is. Do you remember
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: the incredible Hulk?
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: Oh, we used to play poker and you would make
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: a Oh it's konyak, she says. We used to play
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: poker and you would make a drink called the Hulk.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: Was that a real drink or you made it up?
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: I didn't make that up.
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: But when you mixed Tennessee and not alas a but hypnotic,
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: hennessy and hypnotic mixed together sounds horrible. Oh, but it
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: would turn Hulk green and you'd only need one. It
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: was so sweet, right, But you'd only need one to
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: knock you on your ass. And we would play poker
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: and the crew would come over, you know, Calvin would
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: come over, Ethan would come over. You would come over,
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: and we'd drink that all night and freaking be hammered
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: until like four o'clock, five o'clock in the morning.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: Yeah, playing poker. Have you ever had a cement mixer?
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: What the heck is that?
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: It's fucking nasty. It's two different things. You guys can
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: google it if you want to puke. I remember doing
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: this on my twenty first birthday and I puked. But
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: it's two different alcohols you put in your mouth and
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: they solidify when they react with each other, and it
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: feels like a cementy oatmeal thing.
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: That's disgusting.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: It's so gross. Is it's the kind of thing that
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: college kids do shots of, like Jaegermeister, do you ever
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: do shots at Yegermeister. Yeah, I'm proud to say that
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: at forty five years old, I can't drink like that anymore,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: nor do I want to hangover is like four days.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I've learned a little thing.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: You remember we did that thing in Scrubs. Yeah, pd,
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: like we did that thing in Scrubs that it's become
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: so relevant in my life. I don't know what episode
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: it was, but we went around the table of all
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: the different ages. Who is the was Mandy the many
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: many more? And then Sarah and then Judy and then
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: Krista and they were all hungover, and the camera went
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: around and showed all the different levels of how a
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: hangover affects different ages.
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, And then by.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: The time it got to Christa, she had sunglasses on
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: and was asleep.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: And just blacked out. Yeah, with a smile on her face.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: I think of that fantasy over not fantasy. I think
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: of that moment all the time, because man, a hangover
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: at forty five is not a hangover at twenty five.
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: No, it's not.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: Listen, I miss you, do you? It's always so nice
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: to touch base with you.
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: Do you really miss me?
- 1:10:19Speaker 6: What you do?
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: Man? I?
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: I I. If the world were open, I'd have you over.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: We'd sit by the pool, we'd have we'd have a Margarita.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: I would I bring my picture of Margarita to do you.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Bring your picture over. I'm supposed to write today, but
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: I would. I would scrap writing and just join you
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: by the pool for Margarita's. That's what would happen today.
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: You're working right now, huh I am.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: I'm writing. Look you want to see, I'll show you.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: Look at this. This is just showing the shitting fucking around.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: This is the first draft.
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: Wow, you're for real about it. He just pulled out
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: a two finger.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: That's about an inch of Yeah, it's way too long
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: right now. A typical screen a typical screenplay for those
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: of you not in the know, is roughly one hundred
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: and twenty pages, because they say roughly a script works
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: out to a page a minute, and you don't want
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: your movie typically to exceed one hundred and twenty minutes,
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: and this first draft is one hundred and forty four pages,
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: so there'll be lots of cutting to occur. But it's happening. Donald.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: The wheels are turning good for you. Yeah, for you.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: Aren't you gonna ask what you usually ask when I
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: write a screenplay.
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: And any black people in it?
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: There are black people in it, and there might even
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: be a part for you.
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: A good part, or you're just gonna throw me a
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: little bone.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: You'll probably have to audition. When I gave Donald my
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: first draft of Gardens Date, he said, are.
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: You said to me, I really want you to read
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: my script. I really want you to.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: Maybe it was my first screenplay. He was my new
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: best friend, and I said, I'd really like you to
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: read this. And he said, are there any black people
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: in it? And I said, there's there's one or two.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: One you're not right for because he's uh, he's an
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: African man that's been adopted by Natalie Portman's family, and
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: the other is is being.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: Played At the time, you had given the part to
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: most Death, is what you said to me?
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: No, I didn't, Yeah you did. Really that method it
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: was method It was always method man.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: It was okay, so then it was method man at
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: the time you said, you said yeah, and then the
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: other part I gave to method Man.
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: Yeah. And I knew right then and there that I
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: would never read that script.
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: And so Donald Donald in protest because I had given
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: the role to method Man, never read the script.
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: It's a great movie, though, Thank you, thanks very very
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: very well received.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: Also, thank you, and and you're in you know, I
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: could thank you. Oh Dan's giving thumbs up and Donald,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: I didn't make the same mistake twice, and I made
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: sure to put you in Wish I Was Here.
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: Yeah, And I was very happy to be in that
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: movie as well. Great movie. Mandy Patamkin, Holy cow.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: Yeah. And you were very funny in that movie.
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: You only had Mandy Patimkin. Let's let's get Mandy pa Timpkin,
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: Josh Gadd Holy cow. Yeah, Kate Hudson, Holy cow.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Yeah. There's some great performance performance funny and in the movie.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: Let's give a shout out to the film Wish I
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: Was Here, which you can you can see. I think
