- 0:09Speaker 1: Welcome to the favorites presented by draft Kings. The crown
- 0:14Speaker 1: is yours. We are an action network podcast. I'm your host,
- 0:17Speaker 1: Brandon Kravitz joined by the first lady, Kendra Middleton. And
- 0:21Speaker 1: we have arrived all the off season chatter. All of
- 0:25Speaker 1: Kendra's off season travels have led us to this week.
- 0:29Speaker 1: One of the NFL season, a reminder that starting next week,
- 0:33Speaker 1: we're going to go Monday and Thursday. So same Thursday
- 0:36Speaker 1: show where we preview all of the games, but Monday
- 0:39Speaker 1: is going to be our recap episode. So Monday we'll
- 0:42Speaker 1: be back on next week. That'll be the new weekly
- 0:46Speaker 1: cadence every Monday and Thursday. And we're going to have
- 0:48Speaker 1: a picks contest that we're unveiling on Thursday's episode. It's us.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Versus you via draft Kings, $ 50 to enter. And you
- 0:57Speaker 1: can talk shit to us all season, or you can
- 1:00Speaker 1: watch as we absolutely smash you. You know, some people
- 1:04Speaker 1: like to think of us Kendra as the casuals of
- 1:07Speaker 1: the betting podcast sphere via action, but just watch as
- 1:12Speaker 1: we take all of you down man and woman by
- 1:15Speaker 1: man and woman.
- 1:17Speaker 2: We talk about, I am super excited for this, but
- 1:20Speaker 2: this is the type of shit my mom says to
- 1:22Speaker 2: me while I'm on the air. I just got a
- 1:23Speaker 2: text from my mom that popped up on my computer.
- 1:25Speaker 2: What is the name of the pot that you have
- 1:27Speaker 2: in the vape pen in the house?
- 1:30Speaker 3: In week one, we are starting hot, ladies and gentlemen.
- 1:33Speaker 2: If that is not a preview of how much we
- 1:35Speaker 2: are going to kick everyone's ass, I don't know what's
- 1:37Speaker 2: going to be.
- 1:38Speaker 1: It sounds like the apple doesn't fall very far from
- 1:41Speaker 1: the tree is what I'm gathering from this little mini story.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Oh my goodness. Sorry, I could not not laugh at that.
- 1:48Speaker 2: This is a preview of how everything is going to
- 1:50Speaker 2: go this season. We're going to be lighting them up like.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Joe Burrow by week five. Yeah, no doubt. Uh, the second,
- 1:57Speaker 1: secondhand smoke for all of you out there, as far
- 1:59Speaker 1: as the silliness, the analysis, still analysis. I think we
- 2:05Speaker 1: could even slam those two together. This is our, it's,
- 2:08Speaker 1: it's our last Sunday without NFL action until Valentine's day
- 2:14Speaker 1: after Valentine's day. So, I mean, this is it, you know,
- 2:17Speaker 1: college football, wet the palette, but we're in your wife.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Care about the fact that the Superbowl is on Valentine's
- 2:22Speaker 2: day or no, I didn't think so.
- 2:24Speaker 1: That's my girl.
- 2:25Speaker 3: She's my girl.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Yes. I mean, I, you know, I I'll bring it
- 2:30Speaker 1: with some cheesy stuff on on Valentine's Day, but it's
- 2:34Speaker 1: not our wedding anniversary is a month later.
- 2:38Speaker 3: So people are way too up in arms about it.
- 2:40Speaker 2: If you are a good partner, I promise you your wife, girlfriend, whatever,
- 2:46Speaker 2: doesn't care that it's the Super Bowl because you take
- 2:48Speaker 2: care of her three hundred and sixty four days of
- 2:50Speaker 2: the rest of the year.
- 2:51Speaker 3: I have a dog hair in my mouth.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Um, and if you're actually a good partner, you still
- 2:56Speaker 2: have Friday and you have Saturday, get.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Something in the books.
- 2:59Speaker 2: And I feel like most people like the Superbowl. So
- 3:02Speaker 2: you could just do a Valentine's day, Superbowl party with
- 3:04Speaker 2: other couples. Like there are ways to get around this.
- 3:06Speaker 2: People are freaking out way too much about this.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Absolutely. Um, spitting facts here on the other side of, uh, of,
- 3:14Speaker 1: of the Eastern, uh, seaboard here.
- 3:18Speaker 2: The only single one on the podcast right here.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I mean, it just, it's a cheesy holiday for people
- 3:24Speaker 1: that just started dating. It's not, it's certainly not an
- 3:26Speaker 1: issue for a married couple. And especially when you marry
- 3:30Speaker 1: a football fan, which I would suggest any of the
- 3:33Speaker 1: dudes out there, if you're still in the pool, make
- 3:35Speaker 1: sure she likes football because it makes the entire season
- 3:39Speaker 1: a whole lot easier. Let's get into some news that
- 3:41Speaker 1: impacts week one. Finally, Christian Gonzalez signed on with the
- 3:46Speaker 1: new England Patriots and extension four years, $ 135 million, one
- 3:50Speaker 1: Oh two guaranteed. He got the little bump up from
- 3:53Speaker 1: what Devin Witherspoon got, who got 132 and one Oh
- 3:57Speaker 1: one guaranteed. So 1 million more in terms of the
- 4:00Speaker 1: guarantees is all good in your part of the world.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I just don't understand what all of the holdup was about.
- 4:07Speaker 2: If it's really going to be this similar to the
- 4:09Speaker 2: Devin Witherspoon contract, the, you know, alleged conversation was when
- 4:14Speaker 2: he gets his money. I don't personally really believe that
- 4:17Speaker 2: because of the Patriots are smart, which I'm very much
- 4:20Speaker 2: in the camp that it was Jonathan craft holding this
- 4:22Speaker 2: up and not Robert. That's that may be, you know,
- 4:25Speaker 2: insider info. It might not be who's to say. But if, if,
- 4:29Speaker 2: If it is that, why? It doesn't make sense to
- 4:31Speaker 2: me because you want to pay Christian Gonzalez up front
- 4:33Speaker 2: because you're going to owe Drake May money. That's been
- 4:35Speaker 2: the whole conversation this entire time. So I just, I
- 4:39Speaker 2: don't get what the holdup was about. It was what
- 4:41Speaker 2: everybody expected a little bit more.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Okay, let me ask you a question.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Do you think that this makes Schefter look bad for
- 4:48Speaker 2: yesterday going on the McAfee show and saying that they
- 4:51Speaker 2: weren't close to a deal and then for it to
- 4:55Speaker 2: get done 12 hours later?
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think that it certainly doesn't make
- 4:59Speaker 1: him look good, but Adam Schefter has built up enough
- 5:02Speaker 1: equity with all of us NFL fans out here that
- 5:06Speaker 1: I think we can look past it. And who out
- 5:08Speaker 1: there is watching the McAfee show on Labor Day anyways?
- 5:12Speaker 1: That can't be one of his higher rated days.
- 5:13Speaker 3: I will say it will.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I don't think that this should happen, but it will
- 5:18Speaker 2: be really freaking funny if Joey Porter signs for like
- 5:20Speaker 2: a million more than Gonzalez. And it's always about him
- 5:23Speaker 2: being the highest paid corner after Joe. Like, I don't
- 5:26Speaker 2: think that he deserves to be a higher paid corner
- 5:30Speaker 2: than Gonzalez. But if that happens, I, I will never
- 5:33Speaker 2: let anybody hear the end of it because that's how
- 5:35Speaker 2: it goes.
- 5:36Speaker 3: It's the same thing with Jameer and Bijan. It was,
- 5:38Speaker 3: it's the same thing.
- 5:39Speaker 1: It's all about timing. If you wait longer, you're going
- 5:42Speaker 1: to get paid more. Hell Derek Stingley with Houston deserves
- 5:45Speaker 1: to get paid more than both of them, but they're
- 5:47Speaker 1: all elite. And more importantly, and we'll get into the
- 5:51Speaker 1: preview for the Patriots and the Seahawks towards the end
- 5:53Speaker 1: of the episode. which I'm very excited about, but does
- 5:58Speaker 1: this impact anything? Because he's been, you know, one foot
- 6:02Speaker 1: in one foot out.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Can I tell you that I think that he was
- 6:06Speaker 2: the best player in the Super Bowl? And had he
- 6:10Speaker 2: not been on the field, I think it would have
- 6:11Speaker 2: been far worse. But looking at the Patriots schedule, I
- 6:14Speaker 2: do think it makes a difference.
- 6:15Speaker 3: But they play a lot. They play a lot of zone.
- 6:19Speaker 2: And to be honest, they don't play in a division
- 6:21Speaker 2: with a ton of really good receivers. So do I
- 6:23Speaker 2: think that it makes that big of a difference? No,
- 6:25Speaker 2: there's only four teams on their schedule this year that
- 6:27Speaker 2: have an elite receiver core.
- 6:29Speaker 3: So does it make a difference?
- 6:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Do I think that it puts them over the edge?
- 6:32Speaker 1: No. So to, uh, earned a starting job with the
- 6:37Speaker 1: Atlanta Falcons, the line didn't budge. So the market expected this.
- 6:40Speaker 1: We all did. Michael Penix isn't quite ready. This is
- 6:43Speaker 1: just more of a, we have to choose somebody to
- 6:47Speaker 1: start this game against Pittsburgh, but watch to go out
- 6:51Speaker 1: and throw for 400 yards and beat the Steelers. This
- 6:53Speaker 1: would be the most to, uh, Falcons start of the
- 6:58Speaker 1: NFL season storyline. If by our show on Monday morning,
- 7:03Speaker 1: we're talking about how to lit it up against the
- 7:06Speaker 1: Pittsburgh Steelers. It's not that crazy.
- 7:09Speaker 3: You're about to put them in our pick them. Aren't you?
- 7:11Speaker 1: I I'm, I'm not, I've, I have, I already know
- 7:14Speaker 1: which games I absolutely love.
- 7:16Speaker 2: I mean, I've been don't even, I got dibs.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Okay. I got no problem with that. I've already bet Jacksonville.
- 7:22Speaker 1: So we're, we're in on that. We're going to have
- 7:24Speaker 1: five that we set along.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Would you like to take a dibs team now?
- 7:28Speaker 1: Um, yeah, I would. Let me see. Break out my notepad.
- 7:33Speaker 1: See what my, yeah, I want the Texans. I think
- 7:35Speaker 1: that's my dibs team. I want the Houston Texans.
- 7:38Speaker 4: Okay. All right.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Those are our two. That's a preview.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I figured you weren't in the industry. Yes, exactly. But no,
- 7:47Speaker 1: I actually, as much as I've given the Falcons in
- 7:51Speaker 1: the off season, which I have cooled off on just because, uh,
- 7:54Speaker 1: every bit of news that comes out of Atlanta has
- 7:56Speaker 1: been atrocious in the last couple of months. I, if
- 8:00Speaker 1: I haven't bet that game, if I had to, I
- 8:02Speaker 1: would take the Pittsburgh Steelers in week one. I think
- 8:05Speaker 1: the Steelers are going to tail off pretty quickly. They
- 8:08Speaker 1: should be able to start the season with at least
- 8:11Speaker 1: the best, best versions of themselves. I don't believe in
- 8:14Speaker 1: Aaron Rogers and year it's like year 40 for him.
- 8:18Speaker 1: But I think that early in the season with how
- 8:21Speaker 1: old this roster is, they should perform well. out of
- 8:23Speaker 1: the gate, but that's who Tua sees in week one,
- 8:27Speaker 1: a schematic and nightmare for a guy that turns the
- 8:29Speaker 1: ball over the Cowboys. Offensive line is also banged up
- 8:32Speaker 1: headed into week one. Tyler Smith is undergoing surgery on
- 8:35Speaker 1: his thumb. He's a three-time pro bowler. I don't even
- 8:37Speaker 1: know if being a pro bowler means anything, but he's
- 8:39Speaker 1: really good. He's 25 years old. He's their best offensive
- 8:43Speaker 1: lineman for a team that's predicated on offense, especially against
- 8:47Speaker 1: the pass rush of the New York giants. This could
- 8:50Speaker 1: be a problem. He's replaced by somebody by the name
- 8:52Speaker 1: of TJ Bass from what I have read into. Not
- 8:57Speaker 1: that great a football player. So this feels like this
- 9:00Speaker 1: could be one that we might look at. I'm not
- 9:03Speaker 1: as high on the Giants.
- 9:04Speaker 2: As you, but I've been talking about this specific game
- 9:07Speaker 2: for a majority of the summer.
- 9:08Speaker 3: So this just I need I need to fully get
- 9:13Speaker 3: to the window on it.
- 9:14Speaker 2: But this might be one that I that I'm in on.
- 9:17Speaker 3: We want a clusterfuck.
- 9:20Speaker 4: It is.
- 9:21Speaker 1: And this is going to be a big part of
- 9:22Speaker 1: the cap for the other game that we're going to
- 9:24Speaker 1: preview with the 49ers and the Rams. If you just
- 9:28Speaker 1: found yourself on the underdogs, especially divisional underdogs, you're probably
- 9:34Speaker 1: going to come out ahead if you're able to stomach it.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Now that's easier said than done because I think betting
- 9:40Speaker 1: against the Cowboys with how loaded this roster is, is
- 9:43Speaker 1: not going to feel good. But as we have learned
- 9:45Speaker 1: over the years, feeling good about your betting card going
- 9:48Speaker 1: into the week, Doesn't necessarily mean you're going to be profitable.
- 9:52Speaker 3: No, not even in the slightest.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Jeremiah Love is expected to play in week one. So
- 9:57Speaker 1: our Arizona Cardinals love can persist. and we might never
- 10:01Speaker 1: see a first round running back play in the preseason
- 10:04Speaker 1: ever again. After this barely anybody played in the preseason
- 10:08Speaker 1: as it was Jeremiah love played way too long into their,
- 10:11Speaker 1: I think it was their second preseason game and then
- 10:14Speaker 1: got hurt. So this could be the end. Just make
- 10:16Speaker 1: sure that if you have him in fantasy, you go
- 10:18Speaker 1: get Tyler Algier while you still can.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Can I make a bold prediction?
- 10:23Speaker 1: Yes.
- 10:23Speaker 2: I think we're going to do away with the preseason
- 10:26Speaker 2: games once they extend the season. And what they're going
- 10:29Speaker 2: to start doing is doing these joint practices at night
- 10:32Speaker 2: as a broadcast to feed us.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Like the joint. Yeah, that's exactly what they need to do.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Put a spotlight at those fields. And that's where all
- 10:43Speaker 1: the action is anyway. I think the only difference is
- 10:46Speaker 1: that they're not tackling each other. But honestly, I'd rather
- 10:49Speaker 1: watch Jamar Chase go up against Christian Gonzalez in practice,
- 10:55Speaker 1: not tackling, than whatever we're getting in the preseason now.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I'd watch two-hand touch.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Is that a prevailing thought in the Boston area? Because
- 11:04Speaker 1: I've been talking about that in Orlando, but we don't
- 11:06Speaker 1: have an NFL team here.
- 11:08Speaker 5: Really?
- 11:09Speaker 2: No, I think it's just based off of kind of
- 11:11Speaker 2: everything media-wise that I've consumed. I think it's a conversation
- 11:15Speaker 2: a lot of people are having because this year there
- 11:18Speaker 2: was just a glaring hole on the preseason and everything
- 11:21Speaker 2: that it represents. I think people are getting sick of
- 11:24Speaker 2: consuming the product outside of the Hall.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Of Fame game because that was a freaking banger.
- 11:28Speaker 1: That was the best.
- 11:30Speaker 3: I've had enough.
- 11:31Speaker 2: I could do away with the preseason also.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Just do joint practices. I've had enough.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Week one is upon us. We'll break down the first
- 11:40Speaker 1: wave of games that we're getting this week and all
- 11:43Speaker 1: the action that you can find on the best sports
- 11:46Speaker 1: app in the kingdom, DraftKings.
- 11:48Speaker 2: The Favorites podcast is sponsored by DraftKings. And with football

- 12:27Speaker 3: DraftKings, the crown is yours.
- 12:30Speaker 1: So some of our haters in the comments claim that
- 12:32Speaker 1: this is a podcast for casuals. And to that, we
- 12:36Speaker 1: say a collective fuck off. But also we are going comments.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Is that bad?
- 12:42Speaker 1: No, that's that's that's that's what I'm here for.
- 12:44Speaker 3: I'm here to protect my mental health.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I'm here to I have become so desensitized to social
- 12:52Speaker 1: media commentary. It's probably problematic how much I can read
- 12:56Speaker 1: into that and not care, because if you said it
- 12:59Speaker 1: to my face, I would. I'm not trying to act
- 13:01Speaker 1: like some tough guy. But when I read something online,
- 13:04Speaker 1: it has no effect on me. So I like to look,
- 13:07Speaker 1: I like to know what people are saying and I
- 13:09Speaker 1: hear you. So what we're going to do is we're
- 13:12Speaker 1: going to spin it back to you and we are
- 13:13Speaker 1: going to nominate the teams that correspond to certain creatures
- 13:16Speaker 1: in the NFL. Kendra, you and I have been saying
- 13:19Speaker 1: that we're going to do this. Our official cat of
- 13:22Speaker 1: the podcast, our official bird of the podcast. And I've
- 13:28Speaker 1: added a third layer, which is our official pirate, because
- 13:32Speaker 1: there are three pirates in the NFL. There's the Raiders.
- 13:35Speaker 1: the Buccaneers and the Vikings. So do you start with
- 13:39Speaker 1: our cat?
- 13:39Speaker 3: Vikings considered a pirate.
- 13:41Speaker 1: That's a pirate. They're on. If you're on a boat
- 13:43Speaker 1: and you pillage and plunder, you're a pirate.
- 13:46Speaker 3: I agree. Okay.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:47Speaker 4: All right.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Good take our official cat. I mean, this is pretty easy, right?
- 13:51Speaker 4: I guess.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Yeah. We're off the Panthers.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Yeah. We're on the Jags. Yeah.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Okay. All right.
- 13:58Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 13:58Speaker 3: I'm also really on the lions.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Ooh.
- 14:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 14:01Speaker 3: I do like, I'm all over the lions.
- 14:05Speaker 1: The fact that I have, I have the over for
- 14:08Speaker 1: Jacksonville's win total. I have them as this, the only
- 14:12Speaker 1: team I have a bet on to win the Superbowl
- 14:14Speaker 1: because I love the 30 to one number that you
- 14:17Speaker 1: got on them.
- 14:18Speaker 2: If you are looking for a year, if you're looking
- 14:21Speaker 2: for a year for the Jags to win the Superbowl
- 14:24Speaker 2: or to bet on a future, it's going to be
- 14:25Speaker 2: next year because the most Jacksonville shit of all time
- 14:28Speaker 2: is for them to win a Superbowl while they're playing
- 14:30Speaker 2: in fucking Orlando.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Or is it to win a Superbowl? before they play
- 14:36Speaker 1: in fucking Orlando.
- 14:38Speaker 6: No you and I both know how this is gonna
- 14:41Speaker 6: go you and I both know I'm gonna wait my
- 14:44Speaker 6: whole life for this and I'm gonna have a Super
- 14:46Speaker 6: Bowl parade in Orlando all right.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I'm uh I'm pretty um I'm pretty.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Tie break between the sad cats.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Yeah which which sad cat is our well the lions
- 14:57Speaker 1: aren't sad so lions.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Have been a very historically sad franchise It's still, I mean, I, I,
- 15:03Speaker 3: I like the lions. Jags are the cat of the
- 15:05Speaker 3: year in the next year.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I almost feel like they're not sad enough, but okay.
- 15:09Speaker 1: That's fine. Lions are official pirate of the podcast. This
- 15:12Speaker 1: is easy. This is even easier. It's the Raiders.
- 15:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:15Speaker 3: And our bird also easy.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Cardinals.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Yeah. Now that's, this is so yucky.
- 15:22Speaker 1: That is yucky. That's the sort of disgust I was
- 15:26Speaker 1: looking for on this podcast. Yep. All right. Before we
- 15:29Speaker 1: get to our previews, I just want to sort of
- 15:31Speaker 1: throw this back out there because we've had all of
- 15:34Speaker 1: these off season episodes, all of this chatter about different bets,
- 15:39Speaker 1: win total over unders divisionals. Who's not going to make
- 15:42Speaker 1: the playoffs. Give me one, two, maybe three of the,
- 15:48Speaker 1: the bets that we have discussed over the last couple
- 15:51Speaker 1: of months that you just love the most that you
- 15:55Speaker 1: can't wait to see these come home.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Easily my favorite bet even now is our Drake May
- 16:03Speaker 2: rushing touchdown bet that we've been harping on forever.
- 16:06Speaker 3: I have two units riding on that.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Not even joking. That is the best thing that we
- 16:10Speaker 2: found all year. Um, I also not to continue to
- 16:15Speaker 2: harp on the Lions. I really like my Lions to
- 16:18Speaker 2: win the NFC North. And then can I be crazy?
- 16:21Speaker 2: The Raiders to over five and a half. I know
- 16:25Speaker 2: that that's insane, but I think that the Raiders are
- 16:27Speaker 2: going to be a really good team, whether it's Kirk.
- 16:29Speaker 2: It's got to be Kirk Cousins, I think, to kind
- 16:31Speaker 2: of lead the charge. Unfortunately, as much as I love Fernando,
- 16:35Speaker 2: if that's going to happen for us, it's got to
- 16:36Speaker 2: be Kirk, though.
- 16:37Speaker 1: But I think that's the cool thing about being in
- 16:40Speaker 1: on the Raiders is you can like both quarterbacks. And
- 16:44Speaker 1: that's where I fall is I think cousins is going
- 16:47Speaker 1: to play well. And then if he doesn't and they
- 16:50Speaker 1: go with Mendoza, well, I like Mendoza too. Or if
- 16:54Speaker 1: cousins is playing well and it looks like, you know,
- 16:58Speaker 1: our bet is trending in the right direction. And then
- 17:00Speaker 1: cousins goes down. Well, again, we like Mendoza. So you
- 17:04Speaker 1: have to like the coaching staff. You have to like
- 17:06Speaker 1: the improvements they made on defense. The fact that they
- 17:08Speaker 1: get that last place schedule, all of those things. And
- 17:11Speaker 1: I take it a step further is one of my
- 17:13Speaker 1: favorites is them to be a wildcard team at eight
- 17:15Speaker 1: to eight to one. Like if we're going to go
- 17:17Speaker 1: in on this, let's go all in.
- 17:18Speaker 3: I just can't get there with the division.
- 17:21Speaker 1: It's very difficult, very difficult. Whoever finishes, honestly, any of
- 17:25Speaker 1: those teams, even the Raiders, any of those teams finishing
- 17:28Speaker 1: in last place will feel like a surprise. I do
- 17:30Speaker 1: like the Cowboys is one of my other favorites to
- 17:33Speaker 1: win the NFC East.
- 17:34Speaker 3: I thought I was going to love that bet.
- 17:37Speaker 1: I thought I was going to go into the off
- 17:38Speaker 1: season with this being like some unique take that like
- 17:41Speaker 1: for the first time ever taking the Cowboys is going
- 17:43Speaker 1: to be off the radar, but.
- 17:45Speaker 2: It's going to be on the Cowboys a lot this season.
- 17:48Speaker 2: I feel like for sure.
- 17:51Speaker 1: They they I would I don't think is there any
- 17:54Speaker 1: other like Western? I was trying to come up with
- 17:56Speaker 1: a category, but I don't think it fits. But anyway,
- 17:59Speaker 1: plus 230 for them to win the NFC East top
- 18:01Speaker 1: to your offense. Second only to the Rams last year.
- 18:04Speaker 1: improvements on defense. Christian Parker is the defensive coordinator should
- 18:08Speaker 1: make a major difference. They spent two first round picks
- 18:11Speaker 1: on defense as well. So that I love a team.
- 18:13Speaker 1: That's really good at one thing, bad at the other,
- 18:15Speaker 1: and then addresses the shit out of it in the
- 18:17Speaker 1: off season. And the Cowboys did that. And the other one, uh,
- 18:21Speaker 1: moldy cheese for me, I do not like the green
- 18:24Speaker 1: Bay Packers this year. No, no, no.
- 18:28Speaker 3: We too much going on there. And I, uh, I
- 18:32Speaker 3: don't bet on, I don't bet on a holes.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 18:36Speaker 3: I guess I do have a Browns future.
- 18:38Speaker 1: I was going to say, let's be a little consistent, Kendra.
- 18:41Speaker 2: I do have a Browns future, but to be fair,
- 18:44Speaker 2: I did think Dijon had the upper hand to win
- 18:48Speaker 2: that job, but I was still in the camp that
- 18:50Speaker 2: it could have been Shador.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Okay. So you would, you would have liked to bet
- 18:53Speaker 1: more if you weren't on, if the asshole wasn't playing
- 18:56Speaker 1: at quarterback.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure.
- 18:57Speaker 1: I get that. Uh, but I agree way too much
- 19:01Speaker 1: noise going on in green Bay and, The Josh Jacobs thing.
- 19:04Speaker 3: And the injury thing. Like, when is Michael Parsons coming back?
- 19:09Speaker 1: They're going to be racking up losses until he's out.
- 19:11Speaker 1: And I like the Vikings week one. We've seen the
- 19:14Speaker 1: line flip in their favor as well. So those are
- 19:17Speaker 1: some of our faves. Hopefully you're following along in the app.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Kendra gained like 10,000 followers in the last day.
- 19:25Speaker 3: And like 10 pounds on my vacation.
- 19:28Speaker 1: That was her that said that that was her that
- 19:30Speaker 1: said that let's get to Patriots Seahawks. First game of
- 19:34Speaker 1: the year is the same as the last game of
- 19:39Speaker 1: last year. This is the first time this has happened
- 19:41Speaker 1: since 2016. It was the Broncos and the Panthers. And
- 19:45Speaker 1: for some historical context, Denver won the Superbowl. They also
- 19:51Speaker 1: won the very next year when these two teams met
- 19:54Speaker 1: to open the season. I don't think they covered because
- 19:57Speaker 1: it was a one point win, but they also had
- 19:59Speaker 1: Trevor Simeon at quarterback and not Peyton Manning. So we're
- 20:03Speaker 1: going to throw that one out. Um, ironically enough, the,
- 20:06Speaker 1: you didn't think Trevor Simeon was getting a mention on
- 20:08Speaker 1: today's podcast, did you? But here we are.
- 20:10Speaker 3: No, I did not. Can't say I did.
- 20:13Speaker 1: The opening line of Superbowl 60 was Seahawks minus four.
- 20:17Speaker 1: And that was a neutral site. Now it's in Seattle
- 20:20Speaker 1: and they're giving three and a half. So if you're
- 20:24Speaker 1: one of those out there that believes in the Vegas
- 20:26Speaker 1: trap line, it does feel like Seattle would be the trap.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I'm not one that subscribes to that belief, but I
- 20:32Speaker 1: know it's out there. So just wanted to say it.
- 20:34Speaker 1: over under 46 and a half in the super bowl,
- 20:36Speaker 1: 44 and a half in this one. Uh, of course
- 20:40Speaker 1: the Seahawks dominated that game. The last time these two
- 20:43Speaker 1: teams played, it was a 16 point win for Seattle,
- 20:46Speaker 1: but they've lost a lot of pieces. Kenneth Walker, Rick woolen, boy,
- 20:49Speaker 1: a mafia, Kobe Bryant, but all in all, they're pretty
- 20:53Speaker 1: much intact for a super bowl winning team. They're pretty
- 20:56Speaker 1: much the same squad and the Patriots added AJ Brown.
- 20:59Speaker 1: So here we are. What's your overall read on this game?
- 21:03Speaker 2: I think my overall read is that this offseason, Seattle
- 21:07Speaker 2: kept their guys happy, kept their guys fed, kept the
- 21:11Speaker 2: majority of their roster together, didn't have any distractions. And
- 21:15Speaker 2: when you look at the Patriots, that... is not true
- 21:19Speaker 2: for any of that. Yeah, Christian Gonzalez wound up getting
- 21:21Speaker 2: his deal, but he's been stressing about that the entirety
- 21:23Speaker 2: of the preseason and still showed up. All of the
- 21:25Speaker 2: Diana Rossini drama were, according to Burp Rear, allegedly going
- 21:29Speaker 2: to get a story drop. I don't know if yesterday
- 21:31Speaker 2: ESPN's fake hit piece was the story he was speaking of.
- 21:34Speaker 2: I'm hoping not because that was just an absolute nothing burger,
- 21:36Speaker 2: but that's still looming over the Patriots' head at this point.
- 21:40Speaker 3: And you're playing in.
- 21:41Speaker 2: The most difficult place to play on the road. for
- 21:46Speaker 2: your season opener. I just, it's difficult for me when
- 21:50Speaker 2: the rosters are pretty much the same, except for AJ
- 21:52Speaker 2: Brown and Romeo Dobbs to get to the window on
- 21:55Speaker 2: the Patriots winning this game.
- 21:56Speaker 3: And, you know, Evan gave us.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Some great insight and statistics last week about teams raising
- 22:02Speaker 2: a banner in their building on the night of their
- 22:05Speaker 2: home opener. So I just, I'm on Seattle here, but
- 22:08Speaker 2: I do have some props. That's kind of where I'm
- 22:10Speaker 2: leaning this game as far as where my money will
- 22:13Speaker 2: be going.
- 22:14Speaker 1: So one of the things that I need to know
- 22:16Speaker 1: and do the perfect person to ask is what is
- 22:19Speaker 1: the health situation of Travion Henderson and how, how would that,
- 22:24Speaker 1: how would that impact things for the new England Patriots?
- 22:27Speaker 1: Because he was phased out in the post season. He's
- 22:30Speaker 1: still the most explosive weapon. This team has, I like
- 22:34Speaker 1: their offense significantly more with at least the threat of
- 22:39Speaker 1: of Travion Henderson, they feel a little too plotting as
- 22:43Speaker 1: far as the balance to their offense. I still like
- 22:45Speaker 1: Drake May, but if it's just Romandre, I think that's a...
- 22:50Speaker 1: I don't know how I would quantify it in terms
- 22:54Speaker 1: of a number, but it does feel like a downgrade
- 22:56Speaker 1: for New England's offense.
- 22:58Speaker 3: It definitely is a downgrade, but I was.
- 23:00Speaker 2: At the end of the year last year, I thought
- 23:02Speaker 2: that maybe some people on this coaching staff would swallow
- 23:05Speaker 2: their pride and admit that he deserved more playing time
- 23:07Speaker 2: than he got. I don't know what it is about
- 23:09Speaker 2: Ramondre and the staff loving him, even though he did
- 23:11Speaker 2: have fumbling problems.
- 23:12Speaker 3: They continue to let him be the number one rock carrier.
- 23:16Speaker 2: And it got them into a postseason the way that
- 23:18Speaker 2: they were able to run the ball, because at times
- 23:20Speaker 2: like wide receivers were nowhere to be found for them,
- 23:22Speaker 2: which is why they changed that in the offseason. But
- 23:25Speaker 2: I think it's more important almost to look at the
- 23:27Speaker 2: Seahawks because they were most successful in that Super Bowl
- 23:30Speaker 2: with Kenneth Walker running the football. Can Judarian Price kind
- 23:34Speaker 2: of in his first game do what Kenneth Walker did
- 23:39Speaker 2: last year?
- 23:40Speaker 3: Because that's where they were successful.
- 23:41Speaker 2: I think that that is the more important thing to
- 23:42Speaker 2: look at here is filling that role in this specific game.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Yeah, that's going to be huge because this is a
- 23:50Speaker 1: Seahawks team that they have a new offensive coordinator. So
- 23:53Speaker 1: I think that needs to be factored in as well.
- 23:55Speaker 1: I'm curious to see what Brian Flurry's offense looks like
- 23:58Speaker 1: as opposed to Clint Kubiak. When you have a new
- 24:00Speaker 1: offensive coordinator coming in, not because the old one got
- 24:03Speaker 1: fired where you would just revamp a whole system. It worked.
- 24:07Speaker 1: And you have the same pieces outside of Kenneth Walker
- 24:10Speaker 1: and an injured Zach Charbonnet. So you would think he
- 24:13Speaker 1: would come in and just try and copy and paste
- 24:15Speaker 1: what was done before, but coaches have egos and they
- 24:17Speaker 1: want to do their own thing. So what does that
- 24:19Speaker 1: look like? They were so JSN dependent, but the other
- 24:23Speaker 1: part of it is that they ran the football a ton.
- 24:27Speaker 1: And I think that the missing link of, of Kenneth
- 24:30Speaker 1: Walker has been widely discussed and publicized. The fact that
- 24:33Speaker 1: Zach Charbonnet is not out there for this team. could
- 24:36Speaker 1: be a huge impact. He was the more efficient runner
- 24:39Speaker 1: between the tackles. So I'm curious to see how that
- 24:42Speaker 1: impacts things in the Patriots run defense in general. It
- 24:45Speaker 1: was one of the reasons I bet on the Patriots
- 24:48Speaker 1: in the super bowl. So I'm almost looking at this
- 24:50Speaker 1: as a redemption for myself as well, but I'll get
- 24:52Speaker 1: to my cap in a minute.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Hey, I think truly pay attention to both lines for
- 24:56Speaker 2: the Patriots. Like that is the most concerning bit here
- 25:00Speaker 2: for me is because that offensive line got absolutely decimated.
- 25:04Speaker 2: And I don't think that it's really gotten that much
- 25:06Speaker 2: better in the off season and their defensive line. They
- 25:08Speaker 2: don't have a ton of pass rush like at all.
- 25:11Speaker 2: That's the biggest downfall of this team. In my opinion,
- 25:14Speaker 2: outside of the offensive line is who is getting after
- 25:18Speaker 2: the quarterback on this team.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Yep. Chase on is gone. One other thing that I
- 25:23Speaker 1: looked at was Seattle 4-0 in their last four meetings
- 25:29Speaker 1: against the New England Patriots. So organizationally, they're in the kitchen.
- 25:35Speaker 1: They are.
- 25:37Speaker 3: But that being said, can I give out a prop here?
- 25:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:41Speaker 2: I think because Gonzalez got signed today before this number
- 25:45Speaker 2: gets any worse, Darnold wanted to throw a pick.
- 25:49Speaker 3: So bad in that super bowl. He wanted to, Oh
- 25:52Speaker 3: my God. So I did. And I'm still pissed about it.
- 25:54Speaker 2: So I'm going back to the, well, I think because
- 25:57Speaker 2: Gonzalez is going to want to go out there and
- 25:59Speaker 2: have a game off of this contract signing. I don't
- 26:01Speaker 2: know if it's going to be him. I like it
- 26:02Speaker 2: to be him, but Darnold to throw a pick. I
- 26:05Speaker 2: think that's, I think that's a move.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Finally. He'll do it.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Yeah. If he has enough past attempts, that's my concern,
- 26:13Speaker 1: but that goes back to the running discussion. If they're
- 26:15Speaker 1: not able to run the ball effectively and, and Sam
- 26:18Speaker 1: Darnold is forcing passes in what is still, even though
- 26:21Speaker 1: it's the same personnel in terms of who he's throwing
- 26:23Speaker 1: the ball to, it's a different offense. If they're forcing
- 26:26Speaker 1: passes and he, and Annie's throwing more cause they can't run,
- 26:30Speaker 1: that would really help out. And you getting home on that.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Or if we have some garbage time, something here.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Right. Uh, the, one of the, uh, so I was
- 26:40Speaker 1: looking at the, the action pro guys, uh, Demario Douglas
- 26:45Speaker 1: under one and a half receptions. That's one that the, uh,
- 26:49Speaker 1: action pro, um, projection really likes a plus one 50
- 26:54Speaker 1: Drake may under 32 and a half pass attempts. Kyle Williams,
- 26:58Speaker 1: anytime touchdown 14 to one. Do you think that has
- 27:01Speaker 1: any chance of, of coming home? He's kind of the,
- 27:04Speaker 1: the Keishon booty replacement, isn't he? Yeah.
- 27:07Speaker 2: I just don't think that they're in love with him.
- 27:09Speaker 2: I think it'd be Mack Hollins over him.
- 27:12Speaker 1: If he's got his shoes on, of course. Sean Kerner
- 27:16Speaker 1: already on the Darien price under one and a half receptions.
- 27:19Speaker 1: I saw about every action analyst that bets props was
- 27:22Speaker 1: on that one. I really liked the Seahawks minus three
- 27:25Speaker 1: and a half. Some threes are popping up. So I
- 27:28Speaker 1: am against the move, which is not the best feeling
- 27:30Speaker 1: in the world. I was on the Patriots in the
- 27:32Speaker 1: super bowl. So I've been waiting all off season to
- 27:35Speaker 1: flip the script on that bet. And I don't know,
- 27:38Speaker 1: this is like a makeup call for me. This is
- 27:39Speaker 1: like when the know, the rest throw the flag that
- 27:42Speaker 1: really wasn't there. Cause they missed the last one that
- 27:44Speaker 1: that's how I feel betting on the Seahawks in this situation.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I love that Seattle is getting a team that to me,
- 27:54Speaker 1: they're rated up there with the Rams and they, and
- 27:56Speaker 1: they have not been getting the same sort of love
- 27:57Speaker 1: because everyone's obsessed with the new moves that the Rams
- 28:00Speaker 1: have made at home banner drop in front of the 12s,
- 28:02Speaker 1: all those things, this place is going to be rocking.
- 28:05Speaker 1: And this is a trend play to historically Superbowl winners
- 28:08Speaker 1: have performed well in week one, the following season, the
- 28:11Speaker 1: champ has won its opener straight up in nine of
- 28:14Speaker 1: the last 10 seasons. Now they've gone roughly 500 against
- 28:18Speaker 1: the number, but if you're just wanting to first be
- 28:21Speaker 1: on the side of the winner, and then if you're
- 28:24Speaker 1: comfortable with the number, you know, that's kind of how
- 28:26Speaker 1: you get there. But more than anything, this is not
- 28:28Speaker 1: about betting the team that just won the Superbowl, because
- 28:30Speaker 1: I think that, that I know where you're going with this.
- 28:32Speaker 1: It's the other direction. And it just so happens to
- 28:35Speaker 1: be this game, but I would have faded the Patriots
- 28:37Speaker 1: no matter who they were playing. Same fading the Superbowl losers.
- 28:41Speaker 1: What has real appeal here? Superbowl losers are six and
- 28:45Speaker 1: 20 against the spread in the last 26 games. That's
- 28:49Speaker 1: the angle for me is betting against new England more
- 28:53Speaker 1: than it is betting on Seattle.
- 28:55Speaker 2: And I don't know if people remember because this game
- 28:59Speaker 2: start to run together. But the game last year, week
- 29:03Speaker 2: one for the Patriots, was against the Raiders in Foxborough,
- 29:06Speaker 2: and they lost that game to the worst team in
- 29:09Speaker 2: the NFL. I have a feeling that it's just maybe
- 29:12Speaker 2: they're sleepy week one. I don't know what it is,
- 29:14Speaker 2: but you add in all of the postseason distractions that
- 29:16Speaker 2: this team has had. I lost a lot of money
- 29:19Speaker 2: on the Patriots last year. I was very wrong about them.
- 29:23Speaker 3: But once again, I'm going back to the well. I
- 29:26Speaker 3: haven't learned my lesson.
- 29:28Speaker 1: One thing I am concerned about, though, because again, I'm,
- 29:31Speaker 1: I'm on the wrong side of it. The action is
- 29:33Speaker 1: going the way of the New England Patriots. Nicky Manwari
- 29:37Speaker 1: has not been ruled in for this game. And Ty Okada,
- 29:41Speaker 1: who's the other starting safety, it also looks like he's
- 29:44Speaker 1: not going to play. So you're going up against a
- 29:47Speaker 1: team that now has A.J. Brown that can take the
- 29:49Speaker 1: top off. And Drake May, who's as good a deep
- 29:52Speaker 1: ball passer as there is in the NFL. I'm a
- 29:54Speaker 1: little concerned about that.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Well, I was going to give this as an option later,
- 30:00Speaker 2: but I'm also going to take A.J.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Brown for an anytime touchdown while that is still. You
- 30:05Speaker 3: got it.
- 30:05Speaker 2: You got to feed your guy to keep him happy.
- 30:07Speaker 2: That was his least favorite thing about being in Philly
- 30:09Speaker 2: was that there was way too many mouths to feed.
- 30:12Speaker 3: And now he's your guy. You got to feed him
- 30:14Speaker 3: week one.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Anytime touchdown.
- 30:15Speaker 4: A.J.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Brown plus 155 over on DraftKings. Give it to me twice.
- 30:20Speaker 1: I am. I'm with you on that. This feels like
- 30:23Speaker 1: this is going to be one of those concerted effort
- 30:25Speaker 1: bets or at least strategy bets on our side, but
- 30:29Speaker 1: strategy on the new England Patriots side, it feels a
- 30:31Speaker 1: little bit like the, the incentive chase that we go
- 30:35Speaker 1: on at the end of the season where teams are like, no,
- 30:37Speaker 1: let's get this guy involved for a very particular reason,
- 30:40Speaker 1: getting AJ Brown involved in the red zone, getting him
- 30:44Speaker 1: involved on deep passing plays. That, that is definitely something
- 30:47Speaker 1: that they're going to try and do. And if you're
- 30:49Speaker 1: dealing with injuries, in Seattle secondary, then we like that
- 30:53Speaker 1: even more. I think there's a strong edge to be
- 30:55Speaker 1: had there. So we like Seattle. You and I are
- 30:58Speaker 1: both on that. So you track it in the app
- 31:00Speaker 1: minus three and a half, AJ Brown touchdown. And what
- 31:04Speaker 1: was the other one that you.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Said to throw a peg?
- 31:08Speaker 1: It's like the super bowl all over again. Hopefully we're
- 31:12Speaker 1: on the right side this time. Were you on, were
- 31:14Speaker 1: you on Seattle in the super bowl?
- 31:16Speaker 3: I didn't pick a side. I only had props.
- 31:20Speaker 1: And Jake Bobo's gone, too.
- 31:21Speaker 3: I know, my king.
- 31:25Speaker 5: No.
- 31:25Speaker 1: All right, let's get to the other one. The Rams
- 31:29Speaker 1: and the 49ers. This game is being played in Australia, mate.
- 31:33Speaker 1: The land down under. Rams minus three. Three and a half.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Give me a one to ten rating on the Australian accent. Crikey.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Total sitting at 48 and a half. The Niners.
- 31:46Speaker 2: It's actually so funny that you did that because when
- 31:49Speaker 2: I fell asleep waiting for the FSU SMU game to
- 31:51Speaker 2: start last night with all of my lights on, I
- 31:54Speaker 2: was watching videos of the baby Irwin kid wrestling snakes for.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Like an hour.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Steve Irwin. Great job with the children, by the way.
- 32:05Speaker 1: They have picked up where he left off big time.
- 32:07Speaker 2: If Robert was five years older, I would slide in
- 32:09Speaker 2: his DM a year ago.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I think you should do it anyway. I support that decision.
- 32:14Speaker 3: He's like 24.
- 32:15Speaker 2: I feel like you gotta be 30 to ride this
- 32:17Speaker 2: ride at this point.
- 32:18Speaker 1: He's mature. You know, he's a mature 24. Anyone dancing
- 32:22Speaker 1: with the stars.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Also anyone who is like that good of a person
- 32:25Speaker 2: should not be with me.
- 32:26Speaker 3: I would ruin their life.
- 32:28Speaker 1: If you think kangaroos are wild. Anyway, uh, the 49ers
- 32:31Speaker 1: overachieved a bit last year, given all the injuries they had,
- 32:34Speaker 1: they won 12 games. They want to play off game
- 32:36Speaker 1: on the road in Philadelphia, but this year they get
- 32:39Speaker 1: a load back. Nick Bosa. He should play. No, no, no.
- 32:43Speaker 1: You're not doing that to me again. George Kittle. They
- 32:46Speaker 1: added Mike Evans. They are loaded, but they're not as
- 32:49Speaker 1: loaded as the Rams. No team beefed up like the
- 32:52Speaker 1: Rams did. Miles Garrett, Trent McDuffie, Aaron Donald's back. I
- 32:56Speaker 1: think I, I know where you and I land on
- 32:58Speaker 1: this so we can give our reasons why, but our
- 33:01Speaker 1: second thoughts on the 49ers.
- 33:02Speaker 3: I have a question.
- 33:03Speaker 2: When Aaron Donald is ruled in, and this is what
- 33:06Speaker 2: I'm waiting for to get to the window.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Do we see this line move at all? Because that's
- 33:09Speaker 3: what I'm waiting on.
- 33:10Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Ah, Evan, what do you think? Because that's truly what
- 33:15Speaker 3: I'm waiting on in this.
- 33:16Speaker 5: I don't think, I mean, you're at three and a
- 33:18Speaker 5: half right now. I don't think he's going to move
- 33:19Speaker 5: off to four. I just don't think he's like currently
- 33:23Speaker 5: worth that at this point. Cause we don't know what
- 33:26Speaker 5: he is. And I think, do we actually have news
- 33:30Speaker 5: on like.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Did he, is he there? He's there.
- 33:33Speaker 3: He traveled.
- 33:34Speaker 5: So now we're just waiting to see if.
- 33:36Speaker 3: He will be traveling. They're leaving tomorrow.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Got it.
- 33:40Speaker 5: I don't think it's going to move the line at all.
- 33:42Speaker 5: uh even from like a perspective.
- 33:44Speaker 4: I'm gonna do it right now i'm gonna do it
- 33:47Speaker 4: i i did you know peek behind the curtain i
- 33:51Speaker 4: sent you and gifford a text and i said that's
- 33:55Speaker 4: number popped to four and a half we pounce so
- 33:58Speaker 4: while i may be on the wrong side of the move.
- 34:00Speaker 5: It might it might get to four four and a
- 34:02Speaker 5: half is just a little aggressive like i could see
- 34:05Speaker 5: it you know, on game day.
- 34:06Speaker 3: All right, I'm not going to do it. I literally
- 34:08Speaker 3: had my finger on the button. No, I'll say this.
- 34:11Speaker 5: One thing I will say, it has a better chance
- 34:14Speaker 5: of going to four than it does of going back
- 34:15Speaker 5: to three. So you could probably just hold.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I don't, I didn't think it was going
- 34:20Speaker 2: to go back because you can't, it can't go back
- 34:22Speaker 2: if you rule Aaron Donald and that doesn't, well, it
- 34:24Speaker 2: should also.
- 34:25Speaker 5: But my point is this, if Aaron Donald doesn't play,
- 34:28Speaker 5: I still don't see it going backwards because it doesn't like,
- 34:31Speaker 5: that's not the impact it's going to have. So you'll
- 34:33Speaker 5: get three and a half, no matter what.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:35Speaker 5: Okay.
- 34:36Speaker 1: And people are not going to stop betting the Rams.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I mean, let's not forget this. The NFL is one
- 34:41Speaker 1: of the, one of the rare leagues that's out there
- 34:43Speaker 1: where the public can, can move a line or halt
- 34:46Speaker 1: a line and they will be all over. Do you
- 34:50Speaker 1: have the betting splits in front of you, Evan, for
- 34:52Speaker 1: this game? I would think it is. At least 60%
- 34:56Speaker 1: of the tickets.
- 34:57Speaker 3: I was going to say 60 would be the number
- 34:58Speaker 3: that I'd be at.
- 34:59Speaker 2: I would even probably put it higher than that because
- 35:02Speaker 2: when do.
- 35:02Speaker 3: We get injury reports since it's like a Friday game?
- 35:05Speaker 1: We should have them now. I mean, essentially today I
- 35:08Speaker 1: would think we'd have a better idea, but the only
- 35:10Speaker 1: reason that I wouldn't be higher than 60 just guessing
- 35:13Speaker 1: is because the 49ers have a trillion fans around the country.
- 35:18Speaker 1: So they've got plenty of support. This is not a
- 35:20Speaker 1: completely obscure team that they're playing against.
- 35:24Speaker 5: And I'll say this, your line to the public being
- 35:27Speaker 5: able to impact these games hits even further when you
- 35:32Speaker 5: talk about these island games, when the game is alone
- 35:35Speaker 5: at night and there's so much lead up to it.
- 35:37Speaker 5: So you do get a lot more action in that situation.
- 35:41Speaker 5: For us, we got 56% of the tickets, 68% of
- 35:43Speaker 5: the money. And even if you look at DraftKings right now,
- 35:46Speaker 5: they've got 68% of the tickets on Rams at three
- 35:49Speaker 5: and a half, 87% on the money line. So From
- 35:53Speaker 5: both perspectives, as you can understand, it's pretty Ramsey.
- 35:57Speaker 3: I did it. I'm not a coward.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Stop saying I look like Chicken Little because he's a
- 36:04Speaker 2: coward and I am not a coward.
- 36:06Speaker 1: All right, so let me give you my cap on
- 36:08Speaker 1: this while Kendra basks in the glory of slamming the buttons.
- 36:12Speaker 1: This one is simple and it's all about the travel
- 36:15Speaker 1: and fading the all hype squad of the LA Rams.
- 36:19Speaker 1: San Francisco is not a slouch and given the weird
- 36:23Speaker 1: neutral site aspect of this game, even more of a
- 36:26Speaker 1: reason to be on a divisional underdog, a good place
- 36:29Speaker 1: to find yourself in general, early in the season, all
- 36:32Speaker 1: of these teams are closer than the perception would suggest
- 36:36Speaker 1: at the beginning of the year, since 2022, this rivalry,
- 36:40Speaker 1: even foreign for most games in this rivalry, not surprisingly
- 36:46Speaker 1: decided by one score. So all the Rams could win
- 36:49Speaker 1: winning by three is not a stretch. And then we
- 36:52Speaker 1: get home on this ticket. Now, Evan, check me on this,
- 36:55Speaker 1: but I believe divisional underdogs in week one.
- 36:58Speaker 3: That's where I was going.
- 37:01Speaker 1: To go since 2016 have gone 31 and 16 against
- 37:05Speaker 1: the spread. That is an eye popping 66% against the spread.
- 37:11Speaker 1: And that's just divisional dogs. No matter where the game
- 37:14Speaker 1: is being played, obviously neither is a home field. Advantage
- 37:18Speaker 1: in this, but is that something that you have? Yeah.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Sounds right to me.
- 37:22Speaker 5: Sounds right to me.
- 37:24Speaker 3: It's yeah.
- 37:25Speaker 2: I was going to say it's the divisional thing for me,
- 37:27Speaker 2: but also like the travel. I put 10 toes down
- 37:31Speaker 2: on someone who has flown 115 hours and 75,000 miles
- 37:33Speaker 2: this year. That if they were an East Coast team
- 37:39Speaker 2: flying to England or Germany or Spain or wherever in
- 37:44Speaker 2: God's country they're playing games anymore and it were a six,
- 37:47Speaker 2: seven hour flight and you wanted.
- 37:48Speaker 3: To do this, fine.
- 37:50Speaker 2: 16 hours sitting upright, overdosed on melatonin.
- 37:54Speaker 3: It's going to take you two days to come out
- 37:56Speaker 3: of that.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Like you've done melatonin or like anything of the sort.
- 38:02Speaker 2: It takes forever to turn back on out of that.
- 38:04Speaker 2: You're not just going to land a plane and they're
- 38:06Speaker 2: sure as shit, not going to have enough lay flat
- 38:09Speaker 2: beds for all of them. Even if you're in comfort plus,
- 38:11Speaker 2: sitting for 16 hours. There's just, I'm sorry, there's no
- 38:16Speaker 2: way that this is not going to impact them at all.
- 38:18Speaker 2: On top of it being divisional and neutral site. I
- 38:21Speaker 2: hate that they took this away from the 49ers for
- 38:24Speaker 2: a home game and the fans and the people who
- 38:26Speaker 2: work at the stadiums, but it might at the end
- 38:29Speaker 2: of the day, work out.
- 38:30Speaker 3: For them in a weird way.
- 38:31Speaker 1: I've never taken melatonin, but I have taken an Ambien
- 38:35Speaker 1: and there's no way I could have played a football
- 38:37Speaker 1: game the next day.
- 38:38Speaker 3: What's the allergy meds that people take to sleep?
- 38:42Speaker 2: I can't take Benadryl because it's pink and I'm allergic
- 38:44Speaker 2: to it, but also same thing takes forever to come
- 38:48Speaker 2: out of that sleep.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Well, I mean, somebody that, that works for the Rams
- 38:51Speaker 1: clearly thinks this is a good idea. And I I'm
- 38:54Speaker 1: with you. I disagree. I did find some numbers on
- 38:59Speaker 1: teams that arrived first to international games. And this is
- 39:02Speaker 1: such an extreme example that this, this is, does it fit?
- 39:07Speaker 1: You can be the judge of that, but I'll, I'll,
- 39:09Speaker 1: get to that in a moment. This is another factor though.
- 39:13Speaker 1: This is as healthy as the 49ers are going to
- 39:15Speaker 1: be all year. We don't know if you want to
- 39:17Speaker 1: bet San Francisco, you might want to do it early
- 39:20Speaker 1: because we don't know what kind.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Of electromagnetic field CMC was healthy all of last year.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Like there's no way that happens again. Mike Evans is
- 39:31Speaker 1: hamstring and groin already giving him fits. So we like
- 39:35Speaker 1: the 49ers crop wise. I really like a, this was
- 39:40Speaker 1: one that, um, that Jill gave out on the podcast
- 39:44Speaker 1: and we did the touchdown show. You may have been traveling,
- 39:47Speaker 1: traveling for that, but one of his favorite week one
- 39:49Speaker 1: bets was Devante Adams. Anytime touchdown plus one 30, the
- 39:53Speaker 1: second that showed up, I bet it. So I'm in
- 39:56Speaker 1: on that. Um, and CMC receptions, I think could be
- 40:00Speaker 1: an interesting way to look. That's four and a half
- 40:02Speaker 1: right now is where the line is set. Just trying
- 40:05Speaker 1: to avoid the pass rush. That's going to be a
- 40:06Speaker 1: big problem for, uh, for the 49ers. Their offensive line
- 40:10Speaker 1: is good, but that's the strength of the Rams is
- 40:13Speaker 1: they're going to be able to get after the quarterback.
- 40:15Speaker 1: And CMC is awesome. So it's not much of a
- 40:18Speaker 1: stretch to say he's going to catch five or six
- 40:20Speaker 1: passes in this game.
- 40:23Speaker 3: We're here. We're here.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Also, I was told that the pro projection likes Dajon
- 40:31Speaker 1: Stribling under his receptions at three and a half. You
- 40:34Speaker 1: can bet that with your money. I'm not doing it.
- 40:36Speaker 2: You got to wait for later in the season when
- 40:39Speaker 2: everyone's decimated.
- 40:40Speaker 3: He's young and spry.
- 40:41Speaker 2: He can run away from those electromagnetic fields for a
- 40:44Speaker 2: season or two.
- 40:46Speaker 5: The most fun bet in this Rams game from our
- 40:48Speaker 5: pro projections, Matthew Stafford under one and a half rushing attempts.
- 40:54Speaker 1: These are the kinds of sweats that I just don't,
- 40:56Speaker 1: I just, I have a hard time with that.
- 40:59Speaker 3: I don't enjoy that.
- 41:00Speaker 2: No, he's just such an old man. I like honestly
- 41:03Speaker 2: get scared when he takes off. I like kind of
- 41:05Speaker 2: clutch my.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Pearls a little.
- 41:07Speaker 1: That's gotta be heavily juiced though. Cause the guy doesn't
- 41:09Speaker 1: run very often.
- 41:11Speaker 5: It says it's minus one 30 on our tool at
- 41:13Speaker 5: a fun sports book, but still that's a, it's a
- 41:16Speaker 5: fun one.
- 41:18Speaker 1: You know, with the QB sneak counts as a rush attempt, right?
- 41:22Speaker 1: Oh yeah. It's in a handicap.
- 41:24Speaker 5: It's gotta be.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:25Speaker 5: You, if you like the 49ers, you like to bet
- 41:27Speaker 5: even more.
- 41:28Speaker 4: No.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Yikes. Also before I move on and we do our
- 41:32Speaker 1: plant the flag on these games, Kendra, this is a must.
- 41:37Speaker 1: If we are fading the Rams partially because of the travel,
- 41:42Speaker 1: we have to fade both of these teams in week two.
- 41:46Speaker 3: Oh, but not even, yeah, duh, not even a question.
- 41:49Speaker 1: No bye week. They're just coming back. So I've got this.
- 41:54Speaker 1: It's going to get gross. Don't look it up. I
- 41:56Speaker 1: want your reaction. The 49ers, they're both at home. The
- 42:01Speaker 1: 49ers are playing against the Miami Dolphins.
- 42:03Speaker 2: Ugh.
- 42:05Speaker 1: And the Rams are at home against the Giants on
- 42:08Speaker 1: Monday Night Football. That one's a little more palatable. But yeah,
- 42:11Speaker 1: we are betting the Miami Dolphins in week two. We
- 42:13Speaker 1: can write that in. I might do it now.
- 42:16Speaker 3: Who is we?
- 42:17Speaker 1: No, me and you. We're doing this. This is this.
- 42:21Speaker 1: If we are fading the Rams because of travel, both
- 42:24Speaker 1: teams have to be faded next week.
- 42:26Speaker 2: I think that we need to come up with a
- 42:28Speaker 2: way to also veto this.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Pick them.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Because this could get really fucking ugly on your end.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Yes, I plan on it. I think that we we
- 42:41Speaker 1: could almost like treat it like like having timeouts, you know,
- 42:44Speaker 1: in football. Like we have three vetoes that we can use.
- 42:48Speaker 3: I'm going to use all of mine by week five.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Well, not for the season. What about like two per week?
- 42:55Speaker 1: You have two vetoes that you can use per week.
- 42:58Speaker 3: I think you get one per week.
- 42:59Speaker 1: Okay, one. That gives two. Two, I think it would
- 43:02Speaker 1: probably get a little bit.
- 43:03Speaker 3: One per week. A little too impressive.
- 43:07Speaker 5: Plant the flag, get it set up.
- 43:09Speaker 2: I'm trying to plant my flag here, okay?
- 43:11Speaker 1: You're really planting your flag in that thing. All right,
- 43:13Speaker 1: let's plant the flag on the first couple of games
- 43:16Speaker 1: here on the NFL Sleight presented by DraftKings. We have
- 43:20Speaker 1: Seahawks Patriots. We have Rams 49ers. Your best bet for
- 43:25Speaker 1: either one of these games.
- 43:27Speaker 2: I think we are holding hands running into the sunset
- 43:30Speaker 2: week one, because we're both on the same things.
- 43:33Speaker 3: My best bet is going to be AJ.
- 43:34Speaker 2: Brown for an anytime plus one 55 over on draft Kings.
- 43:37Speaker 1: I love it.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Love it so much. You got to feed your guy.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Don't even read in a book next week on the sideline.
- 43:45Speaker 1: No, no librarian shit. We want AJ Brown in the
- 43:49Speaker 1: end zone. Happy as a clam. I'm just going to
- 43:52Speaker 1: throw one of our favorite bets of week one in there.
- 43:55Speaker 1: 49ers plus three and a half. last 26 international games,
- 44:00Speaker 1: the team that arrived first, which is San Francisco 17
- 44:05Speaker 1: and nine ATS her, my deep dive. This is an
- 44:09Speaker 1: extreme version of that trend because they're in Australia. Is
- 44:13Speaker 1: it news? Is it noise? We'll find out, but I'm
- 44:17Speaker 1: all in, we are all in on the San Francisco 49ers.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Why would you place these bets at draft Kings? Because
- 44:24Speaker 1: all draft Kings customers are getting a profit boost every
- 44:28Speaker 1: game day in the month of September. And that is
- 44:30Speaker 1: why the crown is yours. Ah, doesn't it feel good?
- 44:35Speaker 1: We have previewed the first two games, the rest of
- 44:38Speaker 1: them coming up on Thursday, rejoice. The favorites will return
- 44:43Speaker 1: in two days. Final picks locked in for week one.
- 44:47Speaker 1: and we're going to have a contest that you can
- 44:48Speaker 1: be a part of. You can go up against us
- 44:50Speaker 1: $ 50 to enter. We'll share the link in the coming
- 44:55Speaker 1: episodes of how you can hop in on that. It'll
- 44:57Speaker 1: be five picks per week against the spread, and you
- 45:00Speaker 1: can see how you match up against us. You can
- 45:02Speaker 1: catch all of our future episodes on the action network,
- 45:05Speaker 1: YouTube page, or wherever you download your favorite podcasts. Good luck, Kendra.
