- 0:14Speaker 1: Try This Music, a new music experience.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Yes, I can believe that and I'll tell you why
- 0:21Speaker 2: in a minute or two. But let's start off with
- 0:25Speaker 2: your story, you know, jump in wherever you want to.
- 0:29Speaker 2: But where does this all start? The tight fit story.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Who wants to go? Okay.
- 0:37Speaker 4: So we all, we all have the same agent, a
- 0:41Speaker 4: guy called Tommy Tucker, who was our agent and the
- 0:45Speaker 4: record company came to him to, toward, to get people
- 0:49Speaker 4: to an audition for the group.
- 0:51Speaker 3: We were all doing separate different things.
- 0:53Speaker 4: I was doing a musical in the West end and,
- 0:56Speaker 4: Jules was, you were singing with the band Jules, weren't you.
- 1:00Speaker 3: With Lips?
- 1:01Speaker 5: Yeah, and I was in Zoo on Top of the Pops.
- 1:04Speaker 3: On Top of the Pops.
- 1:05Speaker 4: And Denise was doing lots of TV work and Benny
- 1:08Speaker 4: Hill and that kind of thing. And we were all
- 1:11Speaker 4: doing our own things. And then we all kind of
- 1:14Speaker 4: met at the audition for the band. And, you know,
- 1:17Speaker 4: it took like a day. Everyone from the agency went
- 1:20Speaker 4: to the audition. And it kind of started from there.
- 1:23Speaker 4: So we've known each other. How old were you, Denise?
- 1:26Speaker 5: I was 19.
- 1:27Speaker 4: Yeah so we young things and I was like we
- 1:33Speaker 4: were all we're all like 20, 21, 19 we were
- 1:37Speaker 4: very young you know when we started out and it
- 1:40Speaker 4: was it was a real kind of whirlwind start to
- 1:44Speaker 4: our careers because we'd been doing other things but then
- 1:47Speaker 4: all of a sudden we were We were, within a
- 1:51Speaker 4: few months, you know, we were very famous.
- 1:55Speaker 6: What was funny about the audition was there were about
- 1:59Speaker 6: 20 guys and about 40 women.
- 2:03Speaker 5: I say guys and women. We were kids at the time.
- 2:07Speaker 6: But throughout the day, they kind of matched people up
- 2:10Speaker 6: to find out what combination worked. And at the end
- 2:14Speaker 6: of the day, having been there all day long, there
- 2:16Speaker 6: were four people. girls left and two guys and they
- 2:21Speaker 6: matched people up just to get the right look.
- 2:24Speaker 5: And the other guy would have been my brother.
- 2:26Speaker 3: No way.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:28Speaker 6: But Steve got it and my brother didn't, but I
- 2:31Speaker 6: was living with my brother at the time. So slightly awkward.
- 2:35Speaker 4: But Denise's brother went on to have a really good
- 2:38Speaker 4: career and he sang, you know, in West End shows
- 2:41Speaker 4: and he was very, very, he was really talented guy.
- 2:44Speaker 5: Successful.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 2:47Speaker 5: It was very successful as well.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Yeah, very successful.
- 2:50Speaker 2: So you start on this journey and you're famous and
- 2:53Speaker 2: you've got this fantastic single out there that the world adores,
- 3:00Speaker 2: all age groups adore. And it's never gone away, that song,
- 3:06Speaker 2: has it?
- 3:07Speaker 6: It's been a hit every 10 years for the last
- 3:09Speaker 6: 40 years.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:11Speaker 5: And it helped as well. Sorry?
- 3:15Speaker 3: Sorry?
- 3:15Speaker 5: The Lion King has helped as well.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Yes, of course.
- 3:19Speaker 2: And it's very.
- 3:23Speaker 2: It's one of those songs that any age group, if
- 3:25Speaker 2: you start playing it, it's a part of the... You
- 3:29Speaker 2: just look around the room and they're all... It's compulsory.
- 3:36Speaker 2: It brings out the inner child.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Whenever we do it at a gig, I always get
- 3:41Speaker 4: people to sing along because... you know, there's not very
- 3:45Speaker 4: many words in it.
- 3:46Speaker 3: You can't forget the words.
- 3:48Speaker 4: And so everybody in the audience sings along and they're
- 3:52Speaker 4: kind of reliving their youth a little bit. And so
- 3:55Speaker 4: are we at the same time.
- 3:59Speaker 2: So this is, you know, the band's going strong in
- 4:02Speaker 2: the 80s. You've got Fantasy Island and then it's sort of,
- 4:08Speaker 2: disappears a little bit. You're still working, but you're not
- 4:12Speaker 2: having the hit singles to the same extent.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Yeah, we have a single called Secret Heart, which lots
- 4:20Speaker 4: of people will remember, but it wasn't a massive hit
- 4:23Speaker 4: for us. It got to 41, I think, in the charts.
- 4:27Speaker 4: And then things after that. We did a tour. We
- 4:31Speaker 4: did like a live tour. We had Paul Young and
- 4:33Speaker 4: his band with us for that tour for the summer.
- 4:37Speaker 4: And then after that, things kind of all went wrong.
- 4:40Speaker 4: We had lots of people pulling us in lots of
- 4:42Speaker 4: different directions around us. And, yeah, it was a really–
- 4:48Speaker 4: that was quite a difficult time.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:51Speaker 2: But now it's like tight fit to refit because all
- 4:57Speaker 2: that knowledge, all that experience, and packaged it up in
- 5:03Speaker 2: a way that– how can I put this? I've got
- 5:09Speaker 2: to say this right because I was listening to the
- 5:12Speaker 2: album and I was hearing, like it says in your
- 5:16Speaker 2: press release, the ABBA influence and all that. But I
- 5:19Speaker 2: was hearing 70s, I was hearing 80s, and I was
- 5:22Speaker 2: hearing 90s in the same album. The production values were
- 5:30Speaker 2: really good. And at the same time, you were hitting
- 5:34Speaker 2: so many different marketplaces as well.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Yeah, it's true.
- 5:39Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's a big thank you from us to
- 5:42Speaker 4: Energize Records because they came along for us. We've been
- 5:46Speaker 4: gigging for probably over 10 years and we had done
- 5:51Speaker 4: an album, but it was just the covers album. Then
- 5:54Speaker 4: they came to us with all these amazing songs and
- 5:57Speaker 4: I played them to the girls and we all agreed
- 6:03Speaker 4: we had to go with it because how many opportunities
- 6:06Speaker 4: come along like this. Do you remember, guys, when I
- 6:09Speaker 4: played you the songs, how nice they were?
- 6:11Speaker 3: Yeah, amazing.
- 6:12Speaker 7: Amazing songs.
- 6:13Speaker 5: I'm really thrilled with the album.
- 6:14Speaker 3: It's great.
- 6:15Speaker 2: And these songs are not token gestures. These songs sit
- 6:19Speaker 2: alongside the ABBAs. They sit alongside the steps of this world.
- 6:23Speaker 2: That's very kind. I love that.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 6:28Speaker 2: From a heritage artist's point of view, I think the
- 6:31Speaker 2: one thing that's coming across in this world at the
- 6:34Speaker 2: moment is that when you use the heritage artist label,
- 6:40Speaker 2: it sounds like it's B division, but actually it's becoming
- 6:45Speaker 2: the opposite way around because there is, I don't want to,
- 6:52Speaker 2: the level of creativity in the music world needs the
- 6:55Speaker 2: quality of the experience of the past.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Does that make sense?
- 6:59Speaker 5: Yeah, it makes sense.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely.
- 7:02Speaker 4: I think every generation, you know, has its own music
- 7:05Speaker 4: and that's how it has to be. But the 80s
- 7:09Speaker 4: are such a iconic era for music. You know, people
- 7:15Speaker 4: loved that period. And those people that grew up with
- 7:18Speaker 4: those tunes are still into their music. You know, they
- 7:22Speaker 4: still go out and buy music. Yes, that's so that's
- 7:25Speaker 4: so important. And we've had so many messages from people
- 7:28Speaker 4: who followed us back then who are just really enjoying
- 7:32Speaker 4: this music now because there isn't the case. Obviously, from
- 7:37Speaker 4: new artists, the music's very different. But from artists from
- 7:39Speaker 4: back then who are still making music, it's about the melody,
- 7:43Speaker 4: the lyrics, the harmonies, you know, and trying to put
- 7:46Speaker 4: a really good tune together and with high production values
- 7:50Speaker 4: at the same time.
- 7:51Speaker 3: So so i think i i'm really proud like i
- 7:54Speaker 3: said i'm really proud of this.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Album we when we we've worked really hard to get
- 7:58Speaker 4: this together and it has been a bit of a
- 8:00Speaker 4: labor of love so yeah we're absolutely thrilled.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Well i'm i'm sure it'll pay off for you because
- 8:07Speaker 2: it's it's i'm i really enjoyed it and and i
- 8:11Speaker 2: think that the younger generation are looking to mine the
- 8:16Speaker 2: past now you know they're not looking for new hits
- 8:20Speaker 2: necessarily and new music in the same way that they
- 8:23Speaker 2: are looking back to the past not to listen to
- 8:27Speaker 2: the old music but to listen to new music from
- 8:31Speaker 2: heritage artists they're searching for heritage artists so i think
- 8:35Speaker 2: a whole new um fan base they're waiting to happen.
- 8:38Speaker 6: But also i think that i defy anybody i defy
- 8:43Speaker 6: anybody that um was just listening to those songs rather
- 8:47Speaker 6: than seeing who was behind it, to even have any
- 8:51Speaker 6: idea that we're all in our 60s. Because songs actually
- 8:57Speaker 6: sell themselves as brilliant songs.
- 9:01Speaker 5: Regardless of the fact that it's us.
- 9:04Speaker 6: But obviously, if you put our picture on it, then
- 9:06Speaker 6: it's obvious that we're older people. But if we went
- 9:09Speaker 6: out as white labels, we could be number one.
- 9:13Speaker 3: You could. You definitely could.
- 9:16Speaker 4: And speaking of that, you know, we had, with this album,
- 9:20Speaker 4: we had four number ones on the Heritage Chart, which
- 9:24Speaker 4: from Mike Reid, who runs the Heritage Chart, he's been
- 9:30Speaker 4: amazing for us. He's been so helpful and really, really supportive.
- 9:35Speaker 3: So, yeah, we're proud of that. Yeah, good.
- 9:39Speaker 6: But also, if you'd have asked us 40 years ago,
- 9:43Speaker 6: What do you think you guys would be doing in
- 9:44Speaker 6: 40 years time? I don't think there's one of us
- 9:47Speaker 6: that would have said, oh, we'll be in the studio
- 9:49Speaker 6: making a brand new album, new songs. We'd have probably said,
- 9:53Speaker 6: making our way to the old people's home.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Let's talk about you individually and your story. because you
- 10:01Speaker 2: must be so pleased to be where you are now
- 10:04Speaker 2: but but you've got a a gap between the 80s
- 10:06Speaker 2: and and and now where you were doing all sorts
- 10:08Speaker 2: of different things weren't you so um steve let's start
- 10:13Speaker 2: with you what what have you been up to over
- 10:14Speaker 2: the the decades So when.
- 10:18Speaker 4: I finished with the group, I had a couple of
- 10:20Speaker 4: deals on my own. I had to deal with Rocket
- 10:25Speaker 4: Records and did a song with Stock Hickey and Waterman.
- 10:29Speaker 4: And then I just thought, I'm 26. I'm too old
- 10:32Speaker 4: for this now. I need to go back to what
- 10:35Speaker 4: I was doing before. So I went back to doing musicals.
- 10:39Speaker 4: And yeah, so I did musicals on and off from.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Up until about the year 2000 and toured around the UK.
- 10:52Speaker 4: The last musical that I did in the West End
- 10:55Speaker 4: was Miss Saigon. And during that time in the show then,
- 11:01Speaker 4: I got really, really ill. And by the time the
- 11:04Speaker 4: show closed, I had started to lose my sight. So
- 11:09Speaker 4: I stopped doing shows at that point because I literally
- 11:14Speaker 4: wasn't able able to work in the theater because it
- 11:20Speaker 4: would have been too difficult with my sight loss. So
- 11:23Speaker 4: I just decided to take a bit of a back seat.
- 11:28Speaker 3: And then.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Julie and Denise contacted me about doing 80s gigs. And
- 11:34Speaker 4: then we started up again. So that came at the
- 11:37Speaker 4: perfect time for me because I'd stopped doing theater. So yeah,
- 11:41Speaker 4: that's kind of what happened to me.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:45Speaker 2: You are a threesome, aren't you? You are a team.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, very much.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Dare I use the word family? You know, you're looking
- 11:56Speaker 2: after each other, watching each other's backs, respecting each other's
- 11:59Speaker 2: capabilities and know that you've got a value in the
- 12:03Speaker 2: collective rather than the individual.
- 12:05Speaker 5: Well, Steve's got two wives that boss him around, basically.
- 12:09Speaker 5: Is this true?
- 12:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:11Speaker 4: That's very that's truer than you will ever know right
- 12:17Speaker 4: um yeah no we we they're very good because you
- 12:20Speaker 4: know like i said i have my sight problems so
- 12:22Speaker 4: they make sure i don't go too close to the
- 12:24Speaker 4: edge of the stage yeah because that would be a
- 12:27Speaker 4: horrible crowd so um but you know we when we
- 12:31Speaker 4: work together it's just like we've never uh we've never
- 12:35Speaker 4: stopped working together when we're on stage together and we
- 12:38Speaker 4: kind of look at each other it's like we're back
- 12:41Speaker 4: in the, back in the good old days again, because it's,
- 12:45Speaker 4: nothing's changed really.
- 12:46Speaker 3: We're older, but we still love what we're doing. And we,
- 12:50Speaker 3: we enjoy that.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 3: We, we, we love working together.
- 12:53Speaker 2: And Julie, you went off, you, you trained as a
- 12:56Speaker 2: chef and you started doing some cooking and, and what,
- 13:01Speaker 2: tell me that story.
- 13:02Speaker 3: I have my own pub.
- 13:05Speaker 7: Yeah. I, we bought, my husband and I bought our
- 13:07Speaker 7: own pub and I was the chef and he was
- 13:09Speaker 7: the manager. So, Yeah, I trained to be a chef
- 13:13Speaker 7: at another restaurant for two years and then we bought
- 13:15Speaker 7: our own restaurant.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Okay. She's an amazing cook, by the way.
- 13:19Speaker 5: But I was still singing in a band called Go Indigo.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Right. Thank you.
- 13:26Speaker 7: Yeah, I still carried on singing because I joined.
- 13:29Speaker 5: Well, no, I got together a.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Band called Go Indigo.
- 13:31Speaker 7: It's a covers band and we played weddings and parties
- 13:35Speaker 7: and things.
- 13:36Speaker 2: No worries.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Denise, you know.
- 13:41Speaker 2: You're as busy as anything, aren't you? With all sorts
- 13:43Speaker 2: of different things.
- 13:45Speaker 6: Well, do you know, today I'm waiting on a really
- 13:48Speaker 6: good job. I'm down to the last two for a
- 13:51Speaker 6: cruise for 26 days going from Finland to Madrid.
- 13:58Speaker 5: With my pretend husband.
- 14:00Speaker 3: What?
- 14:02Speaker 5: We are waiting to find out whether it's going to happen.
- 14:04Speaker 6: But yeah, I mean, the only reason that I got
- 14:08Speaker 6: back involved was because of Julie, because Julie was working
- 14:12Speaker 6: with another woman in her band and the other woman left.
- 14:16Speaker 5: And I got this phone call from Julie saying, hey,
- 14:19Speaker 5: what are you up to? And I was like, well, this,
- 14:21Speaker 5: that and the other.
- 14:22Speaker 6: And she said, well, do you fancy coming back into
- 14:26Speaker 6: a band?
- 14:26Speaker 5: And I was like, what? She said, oh, yeah, well,
- 14:29Speaker 5: the other woman in the group's left. We need somebody.
- 14:33Speaker 5: Why don't you come and join us?
- 14:34Speaker 6: To which I said, Julie, in the last 30 years,
- 14:38Speaker 6: my voice has not improved, honey.
- 14:40Speaker 5: And she said, oh, no, it'll be great.
- 14:42Speaker 6: And I knew singing with Julie, I could survive because
- 14:46Speaker 6: Julie's got a fabulous voice and it's very easy to
- 14:50Speaker 6: harmonize with her because, you know, she knows her trade.
- 14:54Speaker 6: So next thing I know, I'm standing next to Julie,
- 14:57Speaker 6: having had.
- 14:58Speaker 5: One day's rehearsal. I didn't know the words of half
- 15:01Speaker 5: the songs. Well, I still don't, so there's no change there.
- 15:05Speaker 5: And I'm performing with Julie with this new band. And
- 15:10Speaker 5: then it was then that, you know, the 80s became
- 15:14Speaker 5: so successful. All of a sudden it came back.
- 15:16Speaker 6: And so we looked at each other and said, well,
- 15:18Speaker 6: why don't we see what Steve's doing? And that's when
- 15:21Speaker 6: we contacted Steve and we ended up back together. But...
- 15:25Speaker 6: Rewinding the tape slightly, when Tight Fit broke up, I
- 15:31Speaker 6: went back, actually. I was doing Benny Hill when I
- 15:35Speaker 6: got the call to be in Tight Fit. And I
- 15:37Speaker 6: didn't think I'd ever do another Benny Hill show. And
- 15:40Speaker 6: then Tight Fit broke up and Benny somehow found out.
- 15:44Speaker 6: And we got a phone call at my mum and
- 15:46Speaker 6: dad's pub saying, my mum shouted up and says, Denise.
- 15:49Speaker 5: Benny's on the phone. And I was like, what?
- 15:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:53Speaker 6: And he invited me to go back on the show.
- 15:55Speaker 6: So I ended up going back on the Benny Hill show.
- 15:58Speaker 6: But if the truth be known, I was never a dancer,
- 16:00Speaker 6: but I just kept smiling and no one noticed. So
- 16:02Speaker 6: I wasn't going to tell them. And then I was
- 16:06Speaker 6: doing acting in between.
- 16:09Speaker 5: Exactly the same there. I'm not really an actress, but
- 16:11Speaker 5: no one's noticed. So I carried on doing it.
- 16:14Speaker 6: And then I got married to Mr. Waterman and we
- 16:18Speaker 6: had two children. And I lived in Cheshire for about
- 16:22Speaker 6: 12 years. And then I started a kids workshop, giving
- 16:27Speaker 6: confidence to kids through musical theatre. Did that for 18
- 16:32Speaker 6: years alongside other stuff. And now I work as a
- 16:36Speaker 6: lifestyle model, a voiceover artist, a presenter.
- 16:40Speaker 5: A live event host. How long have you got?
- 16:42Speaker 6: And I'm also a professional celebrant. So if you're thinking
- 16:46Speaker 6: of having a baby, getting married.
- 16:48Speaker 5: Or dying, I'm your woman.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Well, I've done two of those.
- 16:52Speaker 5: Oh, which ones? The baby and the marriage? I haven't
- 16:55Speaker 5: died yet.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Only on stage. Only on stage.
- 17:00Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 17:01Speaker 4: You can also see Denise about 50 times a day
- 17:04Speaker 4: on Sky News.
- 17:05Speaker 5: I know. Currently. And I've just done 10 more bumpers
- 17:09Speaker 5: for that, so it's going to get worse.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Oh, my God. Yes.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Oh, I didn't want to tell you this, but I
- 17:12Speaker 2: think I will. Do you know, I hate your advert
- 17:15Speaker 2: for insurance.
- 17:16Speaker 6: You hate what?
- 17:18Speaker 2: I hate that advert for insurance.
- 17:20Speaker 6: You know, you're not the first person and you definitely
- 17:23Speaker 6: won't be the last. I've actually seen someone actually write
- 17:27Speaker 6: into social media somewhere, those two actors.
- 17:31Speaker 5: Are so annoying. And normally I don't reply to anything.
- 17:35Speaker 5: But I found myself saying, we're only acting.
- 17:38Speaker 6: And to which they replied, well, it's bloody awful.
- 17:43Speaker 5: We can only do what they ask us to do.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Haven't they just signed you up for another year? Yeah,
- 17:48Speaker 3: they have.
- 17:49Speaker 5: We've just done 10 more this time. So we're not
- 17:51Speaker 5: on the aeroplane.
- 17:53Speaker 6: We're not going to the airport and we're not checking
- 17:56Speaker 6: our insurance. We are, this time, we're going to the
- 18:00Speaker 6: Maldives and we are hiking in France.
- 18:05Speaker 5: So prepare to be even more annoyed.
- 18:07Speaker 3: You can have your own miniseries soon. Let's get back
- 18:12Speaker 3: to the album. Let's look at it.
- 18:15Speaker 2: I've already complimented you on the production. It's got such
- 18:17Speaker 2: a great big sound to it. It's confident, it's complete,
- 18:22Speaker 2: it's balanced, and it's very commercial. Have you got favourite
- 18:27Speaker 2: tracks on there?
- 18:30Speaker 5: I like Holding On To You.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Okay.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Why is that?
- 18:36Speaker 5: I think it's, for me, I don't know what it
- 18:39Speaker 5: was written about, really.
- 18:40Speaker 6: But for me, it's an empowering a woman who has
- 18:45Speaker 6: been hurt in love. And she's now standing up for
- 18:49Speaker 6: herself and saying, I won't keep holding on to you.
- 18:51Speaker 5: You know, I'm my own woman now. And I quite
- 18:53Speaker 5: like that about it.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Okay. Julie? Have you got a favourite film?
- 19:01Speaker 5: Who, me?
- 19:02Speaker 2: I got a favourite one, did you say?
- 19:03Speaker 3: Yes.
- 19:06Speaker 2: No, I haven't, but I will have. Actually, no, I'll
- 19:11Speaker 2: tell you a lie. I can't remember the title of it,
- 19:14Speaker 2: but it's one of the slower ones.
- 19:16Speaker 3: That would be Naked.
- 19:19Speaker 6: Naked on the inside.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Yes, it was a surprise.
- 19:25Speaker 2: It stuck out from the rest of the album in
- 19:27Speaker 2: a way. You know, it got rid of the values
- 19:32Speaker 2: and from the point of view of other songs. And
- 19:35Speaker 2: it's just, it stood out as a song on its
- 19:38Speaker 2: own in a way for me.
- 19:39Speaker 5: Sure, nice.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Yeah, it's such a pretty song.
- 19:43Speaker 4: And George does a great job on that song.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Yeah. really thank you.
- 19:47Speaker 4: Yeah it's a really emotional track steve yeah it's very
- 19:52Speaker 4: emotional i love it.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Um for me as well go on i like electric
- 19:56Speaker 3: as well Electric's a great track. Yeah. Yeah. Great track. Um,
- 20:05Speaker 3: so for me, it.
- 20:06Speaker 4: Was nice to get to do some songs that I
- 20:08Speaker 4: would never have got to do back in the day.
- 20:11Speaker 4: So there's a song about equal rights, um, lion hearted and, um, uh,
- 20:18Speaker 4: a gay love song, uh, called wonderful guy. But I,
- 20:22Speaker 4: I probably think, uh, I think.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Electric is one of my favorite songs on the album. Yeah. Okay.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Um, What about the future? What about touring and that
- 20:33Speaker 2: sort of stuff? Where are we going to be able
- 20:34Speaker 2: to see you?
- 20:36Speaker 6: Well, at the moment, we're kind of, Steve's got a
- 20:41Speaker 6: house in Spain because he spends a lot of time
- 20:45Speaker 6: in Spain. So when things come along, if we're all
- 20:49Speaker 6: able to, then we say yes. But it's not a
- 20:53Speaker 6: focal point for us now. It's kind of, As I say,
- 20:58Speaker 6: if it turns out that we're all available and we
- 21:01Speaker 6: want to do it, we say yes.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Let's talk briefly about the single holding on to you.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Why have you picked that out as a single?
- 21:09Speaker 5: Me?
- 21:11Speaker 3: Oh.
- 21:12Speaker 5: Oh, why was it? I think the record company picked it,
- 21:15Speaker 5: didn't they, Steve?
- 21:16Speaker 3: I think, yeah. Yeah, it was the second. The first single,
- 21:21Speaker 3: we had.
- 21:24Speaker 4: Was Fallout, yeah. And then the second single from the
- 21:28Speaker 4: album was Holding On To You. The nice thing is
- 21:31Speaker 4: we went to Brighton and filmed on the seafront there
- 21:35Speaker 4: for the video for that song, which turned out really well.
- 21:39Speaker 4: And it's quite a simple song, but it's got a
- 21:41Speaker 4: really nice message and it's got a kind of retro
- 21:45Speaker 4: feel to it with a kind of updated production.
- 21:48Speaker 3: It's nice.
- 21:49Speaker 4: And, yeah, it's got that kind of Steps ABBA kind
- 21:52Speaker 4: of feel to it, I guess. So, yeah, it's a
- 21:55Speaker 4: really pretty song.
- 21:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it's good.
- 21:59Speaker 2: So you say you're not going to tour or you're
- 22:02Speaker 2: only going to tour when it suits you or you're
- 22:04Speaker 2: only going to perform when it suits you.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:08Speaker 2: So just explain to me, so you've gone to all
- 22:12Speaker 2: this trouble to make this album. You want to make music.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Is that enough for you then?
- 22:19Speaker 4: Yeah, because we've done so many gigs up and down,
- 22:23Speaker 4: lots of prides, London Pride, Birmingham Pride. We've done lots
- 22:27Speaker 4: of gigs up and down the country in nice venues.
- 22:32Speaker 4: And when nice gigs come along, we'll do them. But
- 22:35Speaker 4: we do lots of shows with other people because it's
- 22:39Speaker 4: good to have for a night, say, like five different
- 22:42Speaker 4: artists from the 80s. So we'll do those. And those
- 22:46Speaker 4: are great fun. But going out on our own, probably
- 22:49Speaker 4: it wouldn't work for us just to go out on
- 22:52Speaker 4: our own and gig. We better off doing shows with
- 22:57Speaker 4: other groups as well because that brings in a bigger crowd.
- 23:01Speaker 4: But when gigs come in, we'll do them. And we're
- 23:04Speaker 4: at that kind of age now where it's nice.
- 23:06Speaker 3: To kind of.
- 23:07Speaker 4: not pick and choose, because we're not like, you know,
- 23:10Speaker 4: if a gig comes in and it's somewhere.
- 23:12Speaker 3: That we'd like to go to and do the gig,
- 23:15Speaker 3: we'll do it.
- 23:16Speaker 4: And we're not fussy about them particularly, but yeah, it's just,
- 23:23Speaker 4: we take it at our own pace these days.
- 23:25Speaker 3: That's just how it works now.
- 23:27Speaker 6: But, you know, our live show, we do 70s and
- 23:31Speaker 6: 80s songs, and the audience are on the dance floor.
- 23:37Speaker 6: Because those songs speak for themselves. So the minute the
- 23:40Speaker 6: music starts, Julie jumps in with her vocal and the
- 23:44Speaker 6: dance floor starts filling up.
- 23:47Speaker 5: And it is great fun. We do enjoy it.
- 23:51Speaker 6: But we don't you know, we don't want to put
- 23:52Speaker 6: pressure on ourselves saying we're going to do a tour
- 23:55Speaker 6: and then worry about whether or not that's going to work.
- 23:59Speaker 6: We're too old and too ugly for that now.
- 24:02Speaker 5: But we're not pressured. I think we need to clarify.
- 24:05Speaker 6: It's not that we think we're too good to do that.
- 24:08Speaker 6: We are realistic. And when jobs come in that somebody
- 24:13Speaker 6: wants us and it works for all of us, we
- 24:15Speaker 6: say yes. We do private gigs. We do big 50th
- 24:20Speaker 6: and 60th birthday parties, et cetera. But I think it's
- 24:24Speaker 6: fair to say that we understand that.
- 24:27Speaker 5: What we're all about now.
- 24:29Speaker 6: We're not hoping for too much, but we're really appreciative
- 24:33Speaker 6: of what comes our way.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Denise summed it up completely there. Well done.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Well, let me say congratulations one more time.
- 24:43Speaker 3: I think.
- 24:47Speaker 2: You've just come up to the gold standard for me,
- 24:50Speaker 2: you know, You can look back and say, oh, you know,
- 24:53Speaker 2: Tight Fit and Lion Sleeps Tonight and that's Tight Fit.
- 24:57Speaker 2: But actually, I've learned over the last couple of weeks
- 25:01Speaker 2: that there's so much more to you three as individuals
- 25:05Speaker 2: as well as the band Tight Fit. So congratulations to
- 25:09Speaker 2: all three of you.
- 25:10Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Thank you very much. Very kind. Thank you so much.
- 25:14Speaker 6: Do you know what's really nice, apart from speaking to
- 25:18Speaker 6: you today, is that you know, all these years later,
- 25:23Speaker 6: we've had the opportunity to do something that we're all
- 25:27Speaker 6: really proud of.
- 25:29Speaker 5: And for us, that means more than anything.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:32Speaker 3: No, it really does.
