- 0:00My son, while he's been down in Dallas, has picked up himself a
- 0:03girlfriend. And they, his girlfriend and her
- 0:07family are from Houston. And so they are true Texans.
- 0:11They're they're, they're Texas through and through.
- 0:13Are we talking about weather? We are talking about weather.
- 0:16This is, this is all connected. This is all connected.
- 0:19I can just tell you Houston is like hot and really sweaty, like
- 0:24New Orleans sort of humidity is dripping.
- 0:27So they've they've become rather serious in this, in this, you
- 0:34know, freshman year of his. So we are now like talking to
- 0:38their parents and do that stuff. So my wife and I did a zoom with
- 0:41them. Oh God, it was it was Sunday.
- 0:44I think it was just talking to. Her right on Mother's Day.
- 0:46Nice. Yeah, right.
- 0:46On Mother's Day, actually. Yeah, we didn't.
- 0:48Even when we scheduled it, we didn't even realize that it was
- 0:50just like Sunday. Sure.
- 0:51Yeah. OK.
- 0:52So anyway, we do it. And my wife and I, I think we
- 0:55had been out because we were at the rainy, cold baseball field
- 1:00with Owen for most of the day and my daughter playing a
- 1:03softball prior. We were outside all day in the
- 1:05not great weather, in the cold. So when we were at like 7:00
- 1:11zooming them, you know, I'm wearing like a sweater.
- 1:14I'm wearing, you know, she's wearing like a hoodie, you know,
- 1:16look, just looks like, you know, Mainers in May, right?
- 1:21They pick it up. They're in the pool.
- 1:22Yeah. They're in the you don't mind if
- 1:25we stay in the pool. And I'm like, you know, stay
- 1:26right in the pool. It's like 92 here.
- 1:28I'm like, and they're like, oh, you guys are in sweaters.
- 1:32I'm like, yeah, no, it's different here.
- 1:34It's different here. It's it's much different here.
- 1:37And I think that this is one more reason why I have now lost
- 1:39my son forever, because I'm trying to.
- 1:40We're going to probably be spending the next couple years
- 1:44here trying to convince Texans that the Northeast is wonderful.
- 1:49Come, come live up here. Come, come live up here.
- 1:52You guys end up getting married and having kids or something
- 1:54like that. You should probably live in New
- 1:56York or Boston or, or, or over here, Right.
- 1:59But I'm going to have to get texting people, particularly his
- 2:02girlfriend, to be like, oh, yes, I enjoy 45° weather in May.
- 2:07Yeah, sounds great. Let's do it well.
- 2:12Well, before you get to that, and parents, first of all,
- 2:14impression, love the parents, love everyone.
- 2:18Have they ever been outside of that area in the Northeast at
- 2:21all? Have they been, you know what
- 2:23island? Funny.
- 2:24Enough. I didn't ask them.
- 2:25I asked his, I asked his girlfriend if she hadn't.
- 2:27She really hasn't travelled much outside of the South.
- 2:29So no, I was born in New England or no, I was born in California,
- 2:32but we grew up here. So I'm, I'm a New England guy.
- 2:35So when I moved to the DC area, you know, that's not quite the
- 2:38South, obviously, but the DC area is high swamp.
- 2:41It's disgusting, hot and muggy and gross and it can get, I
- 2:45mean, there was, I have pictures of my temperature gauge on my on
- 2:47my car, like at 113° like it's it, it can get oppressive and
- 2:53I'm not made for it. I'm just not made for.
- 2:54It it's pretty humid there too. I mean, I kind of got used to
- 2:57it, but I never never really acclimated to the weather down
- 3:01there. I like this.
- 3:02This is what I mean. I don't like being freezing cold
- 3:04or something like that. But you know, that's certainly
- 3:06the the three months of the summer make it all worth it.
- 3:09Then on the bookends, I love the fall and I really do like the
- 3:12spring. You know, winter I do like
- 3:15because I do winter sports, I ski, I do things like that.
- 3:18That's fun. So I enjoy being up here and I
- 3:20don't want a climate that is oppressively gross.
- 3:24And I think that a lot of that has to do with the fact that I
- 3:27was, you know, raised here. This is where I live for all of
- 3:31my life. So it's what I'm used to and
- 3:33it's what I like. I'm just assuming that the
- 3:35reverse is true, that if you're born in a swamp, if you are, if
- 3:38you're in the, if you're hanging out with alligators and you
- 3:41know, whatever you didn't. Do you want that?
- 3:43Yeah. Does your blood run really hot?
- 3:45And then if you go up to a climate like this, even though
- 3:48you and me are quite comfortable here, Right, Right.
- 3:50You know, are they like, oh, this is horrible.
- 3:53I'm not sure about the horrible, I'm not sure if everybody wants
- 3:55the alligator part or the the element there, but you might be
- 3:59right. Well.
- 3:59There's something wherever you live, man, there's something.
- 4:02Well, maybe it's not alligators, but.
- 4:04Well, bring up I. Got bears, dude, we got bears.
- 4:07I may have lost him forever now at this point, that's all she
- 4:10wrote. Let's see what a job
- 4:11opportunities. Weather.
- 4:12Girl, girl. Yeah, sure.
- 4:13Yeah, I'll stay here. Yeah, that's exactly what's
- 4:16going to happen.
