- 0:00At least up. Let's go! It's time for Banner with the boys.
- 0:14Yo yo yo, welcome back to Banner with the boys fast laps. We're coming at you with video of all four of us.
- 0:21It's insane. We're all on the same screen. Look at us. Look at our pretty faces.
- 0:25But let's just get right into it right next to me our co-host for fast laps Joe Joe what's going on?
- 0:30Happy to be here. Happy to be on video. Happy to be here after that race specifically. We have a lot of talk about.
- 0:36Yes we do. Yes we do. Moving right along to Cole right next to him. Cole, typical Tuesday buddy. How's your week been?
- 0:44Typical Tuesday. I mean this is like the first time in a while I think we haven't had horrible weather.
- 0:50Facts. Yeah it's actually nice out. I'm not complaining. It's beautiful out. Sunshine and beautiful day. No place I'd rather be.
- 0:57Absolutely. And then of course last but not least the host of our NFL show Tyler. What's going on?
- 1:04Doing good brother. Back from vacation. Much needed. Ready to rip another pod brother.
- 1:10Yeah you definitely got some sun on vacation. A little bit. I got a whole new forehead.
- 1:14Got a whole new forehead. So let's just dive right into Miami but before we even get started on that we obviously had another sprint.
- 1:23Second sprint of the year. Do we still have the same feelings about the sprints after the second one?
- 1:32Obviously we saw some guys finish a little higher than we're used to seeing in the Grand Prix's right now.
- 1:38But what are your thoughts on the Miami sprint? I think we kind of touched on it last time but it is an opportunity for these lower end teams to really get points.
- 1:49And we saw that. It came to fruition this last sprint. So I think it's awesome if you're a lower team trying to get some points.
- 1:56Obviously for the top teams it's not a big change up because it's not a lot of points. For these lower end teams like Racing Bowl it's a huge weekend.
- 2:03100%. I mean Haas was in there in points and then I think Pierre even got some points in the sprint as well. And then obviously, no he did not.
- 2:11No Pierre finished 9th so he was 1 outside of the points. Yuki, Nico and Danny Rick were the 3 that you know.
- 2:19I'm not going to say Yuki is surprising at this point. He's had a pretty good year just even in races this year. But that was the Danny Rick of 6-7 years ago.
- 2:28No doubt. For me personally it's just another waste of time honestly. Other than for the teams.
- 2:35I think because there wasn't a sprint in Miami last year right? That's what you guys are saying?
- 2:41So was this just more of give the US fans another little taste to try to continue to grow the sport here you think?
- 2:52Is that why they chose to do it in Miami or do they just keep rotating stuff out and it just is what it is?
- 2:57Or do you think they're smarter about it than that?
- 2:59I think that's actually a good point. I think it might be for the fans back here. It's also weird. Usually sprints are on shorter tracks.
- 3:05No, not anymore. They used to be that way but even last year it's like.
- 3:11What was the longest track last year that was on?
- 3:13It was like Singapore or Japan. I want to say Singapore had a sprint last year and that's not a fast track.
- 3:17True, true.
- 3:18But even Vegas. Vegas isn't a fast track and they had a sprint last year. Vegas is like what? 140, 150 lap times if I'm not mistaken?
- 3:25It's a pretty long one but yeah I could go without it. Was it nice seeing Danny Rick up there?
- 3:31Yeah but it would have been a heck of a lot cooler to see him on Sunday there.
- 3:34Well no doubt.
- 3:35Still I mean all in all with his racing the whole race was amazing out of Danny Rick.
- 3:40Yeah he was fending off Sians and that Ferrari. He was actually battling him and holding him off throwing the elbows a bit.
- 3:45That's what I was saying. It's like that Danny Rick of old. He wasn't just letting them by having the slower car knowing he doesn't stand a chance.
- 3:51He held him off multiple times.
- 3:53And for him being in America I mean he's probably the favorite. I mean I know Sargent's from America but he's probably the favorite driver out of it for American fans.
- 4:00Anybody I know around here is a big Danny Rick fan. Big time.
- 4:04Yeah I would have to agree as well. I think what's nice about this sprint was such an outlier from other sprints because the race and the sprint were so different in terms of the result.
- 4:12So if we see more of that from sprints I think I'd be okay with it. I don't want to see just a repeat of the race from the sprint perspective each weekend.
- 4:20And so far we haven't because I thought the China sprint too was a little bit different than the main.
- 4:25Yeah Lewis grabbed the LMP too.
- 4:27That's right.
- 4:29I guess my take on the sprints is I'm not opposed to the whole format of it. Give them more points.
- 4:36Make it actually worth it right. Because even you grab an eighth you're getting one point.
- 4:42Right. Even first it's eight points. Like that's not a huge incentive. Even if you go up to like 15, 12, 9 and then kind of tailor it down like they do similar to the Grand Prix's.
- 4:51Like you get there's so much more motivation. Like yeah eighths might only be getting one point but tenths also only gets one point in the Grand Prix.
- 4:58At least a third is getting you know 12 points which is not too far up from that Grand Prix system.
- 5:04Sure. Do you think they should increase the amount of points that are given out because.
- 5:08I like how it's eight.
- 5:09Okay because it's interesting if you look at it you just mentioned Gasly but Sargent would have got points too if it was top ten in this sprint.
- 5:15Yeah right and you're saying they should not expand it to ten keep it at eight but maybe just give them more.
- 5:20Yeah exactly I like it at eight just because I like the idea of rewarding less people but I think there should be more of a reward.
- 5:28Sure.
- 5:29Again yeah I guess it kind of contradicts not you but like the whole point of you know we see a lot of the same people at the top eight anyway and I feel like if it's too much points on the sprint.
- 5:42First half is kind of running away even more with it this year. It's you know I think it's a bigger gap.
- 5:47I kind of have an opposite look at it. I don't think I want more points. I think I want them to be spread out more because then we're going to see more fighting near that middle pack.
- 5:56Right. So even even in the race I'd like to see points down to maybe 12 or 13 because it'll push people even that that much further down the track a little bit more.
- 6:06We'll see fighting throughout a bit more as well and we'll take points from maybe I don't know if we're going to take points away but I mean we can skin out front a little bit I mean 25 and then 18 points is a pretty high gap.
- 6:17We can probably slim that down a little.
- 6:19But we only say that because of the dominance around Verstappen and I think that's why it's such like the gap is such a big thing. I think I don't like extending it past 10 at all because I mean it's kind of an award in itself just to reward if you will to win a point in F1.
- 6:34That's like I mean obviously a win is huge but just getting 10 for a lot of these cars is huge. So I like top 10.
- 6:40Yeah I don't I don't hate that Joe. I wouldn't mind seeing like the Grand Prix go to 12 or 13 and then like the Sprint go to 10. I wouldn't mind that at all and I kind of like what you're saying there with like getting you because you get more of that battle because yeah you'll see these lower cars battle for 11th, 12th towards the race to try to get to 10.
- 6:59And then you're actually rewarded for it and you're going to see them fight even more towards the end. Sure. But I don't think I think first should have I like that seven point separation from first to second. I really do because you're rewarded right. It's a true ward because then from like second to third it's a two or three point drop difference.
- 7:1518 to 15. 18 to 15. Yeah, so it's yeah so it's three and then I believe it was on a 12 so it's three from there so it's like I like how it's like 10 points difference from first to third.
- 7:26You know because you're rewarded for not only a podium but for winning the race.
- 7:31Well, and speaking of winning the race. Let's just head right into it. The Miami GP.
- 7:38Joe just go for it.
- 7:40Lando no wins Norris gets his first win at Miami.
- 7:46I'm telling you for the last 20 laps after that safety car went in, I couldn't, I mean I was sick on the ground just like waiting for something bad to happen and ruin the race like I was, I could.
- 7:58I was on like I was on a call with a few people while watching it and they can attest that I was like, like barfing I was I was.
- 8:05I could not handle that that end of the race and the way he not only did he win it but he got time off of Verstappen. That was he was pulling that was 100% I think really anything can happen this year I'm pretty happy, you know, I'm going to be happy for the rest of the year.
- 8:22100% with you. It was not only that, like you said with 20 laps to go like he didn't, he wasn't handed this win he was handed a free pit stop which certainly helped in the overall grand scheme of things. Not saying he was it's unfeasible for him to win before that but it's more than likely not going to happen because he has to pass two Ferraris or Red Bull and Piastri who was looking strong until he got damaged.
- 8:41So it would have been a fight. But it was the fact that they had a pit stop that safety car with 20 laps to go. He held on he got out of that one second range ridiculously fast from Verstappen so Verstappen couldn't attack and then pulled away to a seven second gap.
- 8:57I didn't watch the race live and I saw Lando one I was like oh Verstappen DNF'd and then like to see that gap I was like that's insane. And he kept pulling away and I mean to even back to your point even more Joe, Piastri and Lando were recording the fastest laps the entire time.
- 9:15And at the end of the race like halfway towards the end Verstappen was complaining about his turning and everything like that. But I mean the whole race the McLaren's were pulling out the fastest laps. Who ended up with the fastest lap was it Oscar? I think it was Oscar. That's what I thought.
- 9:29That's a point correct? He doesn't get the point though. He was out of points. You got to finish inside of the top ten to get the point. He finished a lot. Really? And get the fastest lap? Sorry he finished 13th. Oh I didn't know that. Okay. Well there we go. Learn something today.
- 9:42And he raced a hell of a race. He raced really well. He got damaged. And how did he get, I remember him getting damaged. It hit the rear of somebody wasn't it? Yeah he hit the rear, well I don't know it's a little hard to tell but Carlos like drove his rear tires into Oscar's front wings and you saw it just like bend and that was just not going to get him anything during the race.
- 10:05It was silly. He came back on the track at what 18th or 19th? Yeah and he climbed back up. He climbed with like 18 laps left or something? I don't even think it was that many. I think it was like 10 laps. It was closer to 10 than that 20 mark I believe. They look good.
- 10:18The McLaren's looked like they brought upgrades this week and you sure as **** could tell. And Oscar only 50% of those upgrades on his car. Exactly. Oscar didn't have the full upgrades.
- 10:28Looking forward Lando literally said, not Lando, Lando's engineer was talking after the race that they're expecting to do even better at other tracks. That their upgrades are supposed to be better at other tracks than Miami.
- 10:39After this week I 100% expect them to be battling with Ferrari. Like a normal round. I think at this point they might have surpassed Ferrari at this point.
- 10:49We'll jump into this in the news. I have something about that. Fair enough. Fair enough. Lando getting his first win in what is 110th start? 110th race. That's got to just be a giant weight off your shoulders I would imagine.
- 11:04Especially with the drama and how the Russian Grand Prix happened a couple years back where the rain lost him the race and for him to get it. It was someone who's, I haven't been an F1 fan or a McLaren fan as long as Joe, but I kind of attached to him right away just because I loved Lando.
- 11:22I'm a science fan too and then when Danny Rick went there he was just kind of this little fine Almond McLaren fan. It was really really cool to see Lando get that win. And you can tell after the race.
- 11:34That was his 16th podium technically I think. Which is pretty impressive. But also as far as Lando, early on we were talking about who's the president? Zach Brown. We're talking about Zach Brown and how the F1 drive to survive, how it was weird him and Lando on the golf course.
- 11:55That's not so weird now. Nobody looks back on that now and it's like that was weird. That's a winner. You've got a win now. So it's not so weird. Obviously you're going to fight for that guy. Somebody can get you a win. It doesn't look so weird. It's pretty cool. It's pretty cool to see that happen.
- 12:09It's just crazy that this is probably the tip of the iceberg. He's just getting started too. You get that first one. I don't think it's going to happen where you see George Russell got his one win and hasn't been able to get anywhere close to a win since. Lando's been fighting. Lando's way more consistent than that. He's been fighting at the top. He's shown it for a long time. How old is he? He's still young. He's 25 or 25. That's what I mean. And it feels like he's already a vet. I would consider him a vet in F1. And they're building around him. He's 24. Right.
- 12:38And if it is 16 podiums, that's ridiculous. 24. I do think they're probably building around him a little bit. But Oscar is, you know, he's handling it. Yeah. I think the outlook's really good. I haven't stopped smiling. I think the rest of this year is going to be really fun to just watch how they progress and maybe even steal a couple more wins from Red Bull. And like if we're good on McLaren, I really want to talk about Red Bull. Like Verstappen was not thrilled with the car. Like on lap 39, I'm sorry.
- 13:07He was quoted saying, you know, he can't get the car to turn. Big disaster. Blah, blah, blah. You know what I mean? Is it? I mean, I'm going to throw it in there because I'm not a big Verstappen fan. Is it because he's not able to catch Lando?
- 13:21I think that that interview at the end of the race and just everything he said and everything, I think Max was giving it all he had and the car was just not it that day compared to the McLaren. I think the McLaren car was just that much better and Lando just seized that opportunity.
- 13:38I think that Verstappen, I compare him to like Conor McGregor. When the stuff's going down, he's going to talk his trash and all that. Afterwards, he has humility. He always has humility after the race, I think. But I think mid-race, I mean, I think he's frustrated.
- 13:53Because, but like I don't know. I don't know. I honestly just watching the race, I think Lando was just a better driver out there. Maybe this race. This race. Not in general. This race, I think Lando was just a better race driver out there.
- 14:08I think Max was just trying to manipulate that car to do things it didn't want to do that day. Yeah, I think it was more so the car than Max. But I'm not taking anything away from Lando. I think he drove a great race. Best driver of the day. Who got driver of the day? Lando.
- 14:22Lando. 100%. Yeah, like 40 to 50% over. Yeah, no. I think Max had the pace. Obviously, he got first in qualifying, right? His car was fast enough to make it. But the McLarens were just driving the best out there the whole weekend.
- 14:38I think there was something, maybe there was something wrong with the Red Bull. Maybe it just isn't great on this track this year for some reason. But when Max took out that Bullard and caused that first virtual safety car to come out, it sounded, and I don't know if this is ever really confirmed or not, but it sounded like maybe he took floor damage from running over.
- 14:57Not the Bullard itself, but whatever was holding the Bullard in. So maybe that affected his race in the long run. Again, it all happened on track, so it's still a legit win from Norris. Max did that to himself. But maybe that's some reasoning as to why he got such a gap on Max. I'm not sure.
- 15:15I don't think so, because if that were to be the case, it's on the radio. Red Bull is coming out after the race and saying they did do, dude, like they're not just going to let that go. Let that go. It's maybe not Max, but Horner, he's not going to just let that slide that that's why they lost.
- 15:31The only thing with Max though, it's like even after he won the sprint, he verbally went LOL, the car is absolutely terrible. So I do think the car just wasn't there this weekend. But there was no response from his engineer around his car and around the complaints he was saying.
- 15:49Not really. He was complaining about everything, like tire management, the balance was off, and then the downforce was off, the steering. He complained about literally everything. He said the steering was off. And then they said no, right? And then he was like, well check the downforce. I might be confusing.
- 16:07Yeah, you might be right. And they're like, no, it looks good. And then, but for the second part of that, they had no answer. They never gave them anything. And they might not have aired it. They checked on it and came back to it. Like it's there on the commentaries, like the broadcast is only going to air the stuff that's going to get, you know, likes, attention clicks.
- 16:22For sure. And I mean, sticking with Red Bull real quick. What about, what about, that was kind of my reaction about Sergio almost just ending the race for multiple people in turn one.
- 16:36I would have loved it if he would have quit for Sap. Sorry, I just blew a tire. But anyway, no, seriously. Like, it just, I don't know, it was crazy. He almost took out Max for sure, but I mean, he would have took out a couple other cars too.
- 16:51That was reckless. It allowed, it allowed, who was it?
- 16:54Peastry. Peastry to get up in the second. Yeah, it allowed Peastry to get up in the second. He got past, he got three spots. He jumped back past the Red Bull and I think both Ferraris. Both Ferraris, yeah. Did we ever hear like what? Cause Sian's got Leclerc off the line.
- 17:07Sure. Yeah. And Sian's got Leclerc off the line and then Leclerc was able to get that position back, but Peastry had already gone through. No, Sergio was trying, he didn't have the brakes. Like they, there was no grip on that part of the track. No doubt. Yeah, we know. Yeah. No doubt.
- 17:19But, okay. Any other comment on Red Bull? I wouldn't say it's a disappointment. It was just refreshing to see a different car beat, as far as we know, a healthy Verstappen car.
- 17:32Yeah, it was just cool to not, to see both Red Bulls finish the race and not be in the one spot. No doubt.
- 17:39I think the coolest part to me was that Lando gained a seven and a half second set cap. It wasn't that he just beat the Red Bulls.
- 17:45And that's what makes me look at the rest of the season as like, we might actually see some racing now, not just Max running away with 15, 30 second wins.
- 17:55And it wasn't like, cause I guess it wasn't really like this, but because of the whole pit stop switch and all that, that's where kind of it went. But I mean, they restarted right on top of each other.
- 18:05And Max was pushing up, Max was pushing up besides Lando trying to jump the gun on him. And Lando just, I mean, like you said, Tyler, within the first lap, he had a second on him.
- 18:15Yeah. No, he just drove away from him. Okay. So here's my other issue with the steering. Just my last point on it, cause it's driving me nuts.
- 18:21My other issue with the steering, you have a very talented Leclerc behind him. If he was having that many issues, Leclerc catches him.
- 18:31The Ferrari, I mean, the Ferrari didn't look great this weekend though.
- 18:35If he's having problems steering and making turns and stuff, Leclerc catches him. If he's running into issues that bad, Leclerc catches him.
- 18:42It's a good point cause the Ferrari-
- 18:43There's a two second gap by the end of the race between him and Leclerc.
- 18:46Right.
- 18:47Over like two and a half seconds.
- 18:49Yeah, no, you're right.
- 18:50If he's running into that many issues, Leclerc catches him a hundred percent.
- 18:53I don't know.
- 18:55Maybe on skill alone, only if that Ferrari is a hundred percent.
- 18:59Yeah, cause neither of the Ferraris looked great this entire weekend at all. I mean, they got 3.5.
- 19:05They didn't finish bad. I definitely see your point.
- 19:09They started right on top of each other. He was talking about the complaints right after the restart.
- 19:15I think it just creates more and more to look at for this weekend's race, a hundred percent.
- 19:20To see how Ferrari bounces back from that a little bit.
- 19:23I say bounce back even though they're still on the podium and then still finishing 3.5.
- 19:29There's something coming. We'll talk about that.
- 19:31We'll talk about that.
- 19:33Moving along in Miami, just something I wanted to make a note of, not a big deal.
- 19:39But early on there's actually some really good battles between Hulkenberg and Lewis.
- 19:43Those first 20 laps maybe. I don't know. I had to write it down cause it seemed impressive to me.
- 19:50And it's again looking forward to Hulkenberg's next season.
- 19:54It'll just be fun to maybe see him battle for best of the rest. I doubt it.
- 20:00Very happy dreamer.
- 20:02I know. That's really lofty.
- 20:04Very impressive for Hulkenberg. Pretty disappointing for Lewis that he's fighting a Haas.
- 20:09And he couldn't get past him.
- 20:11That's what I mean. That's what makes me think that Hulkenberg was driving the crap out of that thing.
- 20:16The highest position P6 for Lewis was this week. P6 was his highest place this year.
- 20:24That's crazy.
- 20:26That's wild.
- 20:28That Mercedes, there's nothing about that car that looks good.
- 20:30He was a lot faster than George. George lost to Yuki.
- 20:36I mean he looked terrible. He's still an eighth.
- 20:39George just hasn't looked good to me all year.
- 20:41Terrible for a Mercedes, right?
- 20:43They got some stuff to fix. I heard they were bringing upgrades.
- 20:47I also heard there are a few other teams bringing upgrades that are Mercedes-like.
- 20:51I think Ferrari's bringing a side pod upgrade that is kind of like what Mercedes has.
- 20:56Or in the realm of what Mercedes has right now. So that should be fun to see.
- 21:00That's interesting.
- 21:02Maybe they can do it better. I assume they probably can.
- 21:05Can't do it much worse. That's a fact.
- 21:08Very true.
- 21:09Obviously Alpine getting a point this weekend.
- 21:12Yeah, Ocon.
- 21:14And they were racing each other hard throughout the race.
- 21:17Gasly and Ocon both. There's a couple of times they touched tires.
- 21:22I was like, whoa, we're going to see another Alpine, Alpine GARNEDGE.
- 21:27But no.
- 21:29That first lap they were fighting hard.
- 21:31I mean, Yuki's seventh. That's pretty impressive.
- 21:33That's Ty's best finish this year, right?
- 21:36That's gotta be. That's how I'm trying.
- 21:38Great full weekend for a racing ball.
- 21:42I would agree.
- 21:44Looking at the rest of the season that's happened before this race,
- 21:49I would say that's a great progress for the V-Cars.
- 21:53Points-wise, they kind of separated because I think the closest was Haas.
- 21:56Them and Haas were fighting for the constructors.
- 22:00Yeah, I can't remember. We should do an update on constructors next time.
- 22:04They were fighting with Haas and this kind of separates them a little bit.
- 22:08I mean, RB's got 11 points this weekend between the two races.
- 22:13That's more than Haas has on the year. Haas has seven on the year.
- 22:18So they definitely had a huge gap to Haas in this race.
- 22:22Realistically, with how Aston's looking and Stroll can't finish anything,
- 22:26Fernando, that Aston looked terrible this weekend.
- 22:29If Yuki can keep finishing in that 7-10 spot,
- 22:32there's a chance they could catch the Aston's.
- 22:34That would be crazy. That would be wild.
- 22:36That would be impressive.
- 22:37Does he get the spot on Red Bull if he solely brings him to fifth?
- 22:42I think Sergio has that spot on.
- 22:43We're not going to go on a deep tangent because we literally do every time.
- 22:46But that is an interesting thought.
- 22:48If he keeps consistently finishing in the top eight the rest of the season,
- 22:53Yuki I'm talking about, I think he's got to be in consideration.
- 22:57I think Carlos is still the number one option.
- 22:59Tchaikov has that seat locked up. Locked up? Like instead of Carlos?
- 23:04I don't think Carlos has a... I don't think Carlos is going to Red Bull.
- 23:06They can't offer him that.
- 23:07So what happens to V-Carb then?
- 23:09I think you... I remember you saying that... So who gets kicked out? Who stays?
- 23:13Danny Rick. Danny Rick stays?
- 23:15Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:16Which would be interesting.
- 23:17Considering... Sorry, sorry, sorry.
- 23:19Yuki stays. Danny Rick's gone.
- 23:21I think the whole situation...
- 23:22I think they want to go youth movement in the V-Carbs to help develop.
- 23:26That's what that team's for.
- 23:27The only reason Danny Rick got that seat was to potentially...
- 23:30Yeah.
- 23:31Potential to move in and I think we've seen that it's probably not going to happen.
- 23:34He would need one heck of a last... This is his last year in F1.
- 23:38Unfortunately.
- 23:39I would agree.
- 23:40That's rough.
- 23:41Where's he going to go?
- 23:42Reserve driver?
- 23:43No.
- 23:44Not even.
- 23:45No.
- 23:46Haas can't... If he wants to stay maybe.
- 23:47Allegedly there's a driver...
- 23:48This is his last year in F1 car.
- 23:49Allegedly we already know one of the drivers for Haas. We can mention that later.
- 23:52Yeah.
- 23:53Just real quick, since we're on the V-Carbs subject, I wanted to mention their livery.
- 23:58I thought it looked really awesome this weekend.
- 24:00Clean.
- 24:01I'm sorry.
- 24:02A couple weekends ago in Miami compared to all this hype that we were hearing about Ferrari
- 24:07and they're going to be blue.
- 24:09To be fair, the driver's suits were blue head to toe.
- 24:12They look clean.
- 24:13The driver's suits look clean.
- 24:14The car was hideous.
- 24:15Those look sweet, but then I see the car comes out and I was like... I mean kind of what I
- 24:18was expecting, right?
- 24:19There's no way the whole thing was going to be blue, but...
- 24:21It was terrible.
- 24:22Just like they were hyping it up, hyping it up, and then V-Carb just smashed it out of
- 24:26the park in my opinion in comparison.
- 24:28I saw a... I think maybe one of you guys sent it, like a faux image of the blue they're going
- 24:33with.
- 24:34I think I sent that.
- 24:35Yeah, it was completely blue.
- 24:36I was like, who's the red car on the track?
- 24:37Where's Ferrari?
- 24:38I was watching the sprint.
- 24:39I was like, what's going on right now?
- 24:42And then I was like, oh, they're red still.
- 24:44What is he doing?
- 24:45Yeah.
- 24:46Nah, I just... whatever.
- 24:47Big disappointment to me.
- 24:49And now, moving to... actually Tyler, you mentioned this, right?
- 24:52Last night on our little meeting, you mentioned how they're going to HP now, so now there's
- 24:57going to be a giant blue HP instead of the Shell logo on the red car.
- 25:00Yeah, so where the HP was on the Ferrari in Miami is going to stay.
- 25:04They're just not going to have the blue accent, so there's going to be a big HP on whatever
- 25:07you call it that's right behind them.
- 25:09And then on their wing now, it's going to be the HP, which it just... it doesn't look
- 25:13good.
- 25:14It's a clash.
- 25:15I get it.
- 25:16They're giving them $100 million a year.
- 25:17Like, it's a title sponsor.
- 25:19You got to do it.
- 25:20But that... the Shell was just so iconic with Ferrari.
- 25:23The red and the yellow work together.
- 25:25The red and that HP blue do not coincide.
- 25:28No, I mean, and I don't, you know, color match very well.
- 25:32I do dress myself, believe it or not.
- 25:34But like, I don't... yeah, I know.
- 25:36But I, you know, it's just going to look bad.
- 25:39The red and blue, I agree 100%.
- 25:41It's going to clash super hard.
- 25:43Really, the last thing kind of to wrap up Miami.
- 25:46Joe, do you want to touch on K-Meg's penalties that came late?
- 25:51He's just a bulldozer.
- 25:53Love to have a conversation about K-Meg.
- 25:55Yeah, 25 seconds of penalties in the sprint, 20 seconds of penalties in the race, I think.
- 26:00I'm probably wrong about the race, but I know he got about 25 in the sprint.
- 26:04He is... he said after the race, it's not a position he wants to be in, but it's a position
- 26:10he finds himself in and that's fighting for Hulkenberg.
- 26:13I think it's a good position to be in because the team knows he's going to be able to be a team player.
- 26:18But at the same time, it's like, is that a great look for Haas, having a car out there that's
- 26:25like running people off the track, getting all those penalties?
- 26:28He's not breaking the car, so that's good, right?
- 26:30That's like huge.
- 26:31I keep thinking about that.
- 26:32As long as he's not breaking the car, I guess whatever.
- 26:35But he's what, two more points away from getting a race suspension.
- 26:39And those points are almost entirely within the last two races.
- 26:43Like, it's crazy.
- 26:44It is a weird look.
- 26:45You bring up a good point.
- 26:46Like, is that the look Haas really wants to be having right now?
- 26:50Yeah.
- 26:51And I don't think they care about K-Mage's image at all by any means.
- 26:54So I think he just, what you said, being a team player and they're just doing everything they can,
- 27:00it feels like, to get Hulken points.
- 27:02So, I mean, to talk about Haas, I don't know if this is correlated at all.
- 27:05I didn't really read up on it.
- 27:07Why is Gunther suing Haas?
- 27:09I didn't.
- 27:11Other way around, Haas is suing Gunther.
- 27:13Oh, really?
- 27:14Yep.
- 27:15He mentioned, he had a Haas logo, I think, in his book that he wrote.
- 27:21And so I think Gene is suing him because of that.
- 27:23Oh my god.
- 27:24I have to look that up.
- 27:25But it's around that.
- 27:27I don't think Gunther is suing Haas.
- 27:28Come on, Gene.
- 27:29That's a worse look for Haas than this.
- 27:31At least they know they got their money in Hulkenberg.
- 27:33That could actually get points.
- 27:34Yeah, that's a bad look.
- 27:36That's wild.
- 27:37That's whack.
- 27:38I thought it was the other way around.
- 27:39I'll double check.
- 27:40But I like that K-Mage is doing this.
- 27:42He's fighting for a team that needs one point.
- 27:45It's true.
- 27:46One point at the end of the year when you're only going to get 19.
- 27:50Right.
- 27:51And seventh is the highest they've ever finished.
- 27:54So if they can finish this year, that's tying their best finish ever in what, five years?
- 27:59Yeah, it's five or six.
- 28:01Gotta be.
- 28:02Gotta be.
- 28:03And it's just, for those teams, it's millions of dollars finishing that.
- 28:08That's Danny Rick.
- 28:09That's Danny Rick right there.
- 28:11You want Danny Rick to take seventh.
- 28:13Not going to happen.
- 28:14But yeah.
- 28:15They're not going to take seventh?
- 28:16No, Danny Rick's not going to happen there.
- 28:18If there's a way to do it, it's getting seventh.
- 28:21Now, it would be a popular decision.
- 28:22If you're trying to grow F1 in the U.S., that would be a pretty popular decision.
- 28:28It would be.
- 28:29But I don't know if it's the right move for Haas right now.
- 28:31But I'm sure, again, another conversation to have throughout the rest of the season, absolutely.
- 28:37Really quick, just because I was wrong.
- 28:40Steiner did sue Haas.
- 28:41Haas sued Steiner back because of the trademark infringement.
- 28:44Why did he sue?
- 28:45I need to double check.
- 28:46I'm not sure.
- 28:47This article isn't telling me.
- 28:48But yeah, they're suing each other.
- 28:50Got it.
- 28:51That makes sense.
- 28:52And obviously when they come back and rebuttal, they got the guns.
- 28:54Right.
- 28:55With that, we'll just head right into our new segment.
- 29:01And of course, right away, we're just going to start with Ferrari, actually, a couple
- 29:11small minor things.
- 29:13Ferrari actually signed two former Mercedes staff members.
- 29:18The former head of Mercedes' Young Driver program becomes the deputy team principal.
- 29:24And I'm blanking on his name.
- 29:25He's a former F1 driver.
- 29:26I don't know why I'm blanking on his name.
- 29:28But is that really a big deal at all for Ferrari?
- 29:33Or is it just kind of a change of scenery for these staff members for Mercedes?
- 29:38I think it's a change of scenery.
- 29:41Wasn't there also, I mean, wasn't there a bigger move where Red Bull took a ton of...
- 29:47I did not hear that.
- 29:49Mercedes.
- 29:50Mercedes, right?
- 29:51That was a number of years ago now.
- 29:52No, there was something I thought that happened recently where a big move happened with a
- 29:55ton of other engineers.
- 29:56Oh, a lot of Red Bull went to Aston when they became Aston.
- 30:02It's two Merck staff with the Merck car, whatever.
- 30:06They might have a tie to Lewis is what I'm guessing.
- 30:09Well, it's got to be.
- 30:10That's the only thing I could come up with.
- 30:13And so we'll just see.
- 30:14Not a big deal.
- 30:15Jerome D'Embrogio.
- 30:16Yeah, that fella.
- 30:17Yeah, that rolls right off my mind.
- 30:18Ferrari was also seen testing, quote, rain guards.
- 30:25Joe made a good point that most of the rain, you know, comes from the diffuser really on
- 30:30the rear of the car.
- 30:31But they're testing these rain guards.
- 30:33Is that really worth it?
- 30:35I mean, I mean, don't get me wrong, you see from the pod cameras, right?
- 30:39When it's wet, you can't head into that turn one anywhere.
- 30:43You can't see it.
- 30:44Nothing. But is it even worth their time?
- 30:48I'm curious if the weight of the added rain guards will.
- 30:54Because I think having guards over, I think that might help with, I guess, when we see
- 31:02like the wind hitting those tires, they go everywhere.
- 31:05That causes the cars behind them to kind of get all messy.
- 31:07But I think the rain guards might help with that.
- 31:10Now, the car is going to be a little bit more aggressive.
- 31:13They might help with that.
- 31:14Now, the added weight might kind of, you know, mess that all together.
- 31:17But I don't know.
- 31:18I think they're trying to just make the sport safer.
- 31:20You're right.
- 31:21They look ridiculous.
- 31:22I don't think they're working, though.
- 31:23So they didn't look like they didn't look like they were working.
- 31:26They didn't look like they were working.
- 31:27Well, they also it wasn't like raining.
- 31:29No, it's not a wet track.
- 31:31Yeah.
- 31:32So if it was raining, what are they going to do?
- 31:34What are we doing testing these without rain?
- 31:37And they were testing them for the FIA, correct?
- 31:39Yeah.
- 31:40It wasn't something they were doing to make sure.
- 31:43It was for the FIA.
- 31:44And to your point of the weight, now do you have to redesign other parts of the car if that became a mandatory thing?
- 31:50I doubt it. I think they'd probably just.
- 31:51Or just a bolt on thing like, oh, it's going to rain now.
- 31:54They're going to be the same.
- 31:55So everybody's using your universal rain guard.
- 31:58So it's the weight of the car going into it.
- 32:00It's it's probably what matters.
- 32:01And then we're adding this weight with the rain guards.
- 32:04Everybody's getting equal weight added.
- 32:05Could it be like a part that they can modify to be their own, though?
- 32:09Like I doubt the FIA would allow that.
- 32:11I think it's going to be just like I think it's going to be added as an extension of the tire.
- 32:15Sure. Yeah, I just.
- 32:16But even if they if they knock off 10, 15 percent of it of decreased visibility, that's still worth it in the grand scheme of safety.
- 32:24In the grand scheme of safety, it would be worth it.
- 32:27It would make a difference when you have if you're saving 10, 15 percent on 20 cars, that's probably going to make a huge difference.
- 32:34Exactly. And I don't think drivers would have a huge deal with it unless it like
- 32:38drastically made the car manipulate differently.
- 32:41Yeah, I think that's the only issue drivers would have with it.
- 32:43Like they don't care about aesthetics, like if they're going to have a higher chance of survival.
- 32:47Yeah, no, for sure. And if it's across the board, the same.
- 32:50Right. Right. Just let us worry about aesthetics.
- 32:53It would be interesting. So is it would be like how would the FIA like mandate that?
- 32:57Right. Is it going to be mandated only if they're mandating wet tires?
- 33:01Because they have mandates that you can only use wet in the race and under certain conditions.
- 33:05And then if it stops raining, people start switching to the intermediates.
- 33:09How is that going to like play out?
- 33:11I think they're just going to be on the rest of the race.
- 33:13This has got to be a couple of years thing. I mean, they were just testing it.
- 33:16For sure. It's not the first test, though. They've done they've done testing before on it.
- 33:19It was the first test of this particular kind.
- 33:21I just hadn't heard of it before. So I just saw a picture of this ugly thing.
- 33:25And I was like, let's see what that is.
- 33:28I didn't think it was real at first. I was like one of those joke pages on Facebook.
- 33:32While we're on Ferrari, the news I saw.
- 33:36This is the same news, the same news that I heard when I found out that Marco was leaving.
- 33:43Right. Marco. Not Marco. Who's the engineer just left?
- 33:47Nui. Sorry, Nui. The same news when I got that news that he was leaving.
- 33:52He was going to make the announcement before Miami.
- 33:54The same thing. I found out that Ferrari is apparently coming to a Mola with an upgrade that is insane.
- 34:01Like point four seconds.
- 34:04Point four seconds a lap on a Mola.
- 34:08I believe it when I see it. That would be wild.
- 34:10So we're talking, we're talking. That's huge.
- 34:12Again, this is a big this is I got the news, the news. Same thing.
- 34:16We're saying staying ahead of Ferrari type of or I'm sorry, staying ahead of McLaren type of upgrade.
- 34:21We're talking about we're talking about McLaren upgrade from last year.
- 34:24That's big of a jump we're talking. Really?
- 34:26Really. If it is point four seconds is huge.
- 34:29For sure. That's I mean, my news has not lied so far.
- 34:32That's that's true. So you did call that.
- 34:35So if I said before Miami is going to call it and they're saying point four.
- 34:39So if it's a huge upgrade like that. Oh, yeah.
- 34:42That's a mob source. Yeah, this is the this is the this is the like the Mercedes S side pod change that I was talking about earlier.
- 34:49That's OK. This is what that is. Yeah. So it's a huge. Yeah.
- 34:52And it's similar to Mercedes side pod.
- 34:55No, it's a vertical bypass duct instead of like the larger one inlet.
- 35:01Ah, got you. Yeah.
- 35:03Similar to the one seen on Alpina and Mercedes.
- 35:07Yeah, that's that's interesting.
- 35:10I would I heard it's going to be huge.
- 35:12Point four. While we're on upgrades, Mercedes allegedly is bringing one that is not huge.
- 35:18They're they literally came out and said and I can't remember what article I'm sure it was on honestly F1's website.
- 35:23But some along the line, somebody came out and said straight up like, yeah, we're coming out with upgrades, but it's not going to keep up with the rest of the rest of everybody else.
- 35:33Meaning like Ferrari and McLaren and throwing stuff at the wall.
- 35:37That's what it sounds like. I mean, what do they got to lose at this point?
- 35:41I mean, they got to try everything. They're losing.
- 35:44And they're losing the best driver, one of the best drivers of all time.
- 35:48Like what do you have to do whatever you can to at least compete, to try to stay in that?
- 35:53I mean, they're fighting for fourth in constructors at this point, which is crazy to even consider.
- 35:58They finished second last year. Yeah. And towards the end of the year, the car didn't look bad.
- 36:02It didn't. And Lewis got progressively better through last season, if I remember correctly.
- 36:06So I just yeah, it's not a good look, honestly, to come out and say that too is doesn't put confidence in your drivers.
- 36:14Yeah, being 60 points behind McLaren right now is in third. That's a pretty big gap.
- 36:20The thing with McLaren, Red Bull and Ferrari is they're only going to improve during the year.
- 36:25Like every team is. Right. But in terms of like the upgrades, like you can't just stay stagnant with those teams right now.
- 36:31You have to do what you can to grab those point for, you know, four tenths of a second.
- 36:35You're gaining on a lap is what Mercedes needs to even compete for third right now, I would say.
- 36:40And it's just it's just not been enough. It hasn't been enough. I don't think it'll be enough this weekend.
- 36:45And according to them, neither do they. It's going to be interesting to see if they can hold off Aston.
- 36:50They're not going to they're not going to hold off Fernando.
- 36:52Like it's how is Lance going to going to perform to like because like Lance, like they're only 22 points behind.
- 37:00Lance could get a point, but I don't see much more than him.
- 37:03I mean, honestly, he's been so wildly inconsistent this year.
- 37:06The only consistency he's had is finishing outside of tenth. I just. Yeah, I don't know.
- 37:12Real quick little little blurb. Williams allegedly is, quote, talking to four or five drivers.
- 37:17That just seemed like a lot to me right now. They're just, you know, whatever.
- 37:21Not really worth even discussing. Just figured I saw it. Thought it was interesting.
- 37:27If you have any thoughts, go for it. But I don't whatever. Who wants to go to that car right now?
- 37:31That's what I mean. That's what I mean. I'm going to be lucky if Elbon wants to stay.
- 37:34I mean, four or five drivers that the first four say no.
- 37:37I feel like I hear every weekend one of the commentators saying Williams, you know, this might be their weekend.
- 37:42They might actually get into points and, you know, do something.
- 37:44Sounds like the McLaren fans from the past two years. Yeah.
- 37:48Maybe a little. I mean, last year was bad.
- 37:51But yeah, we got there. Right.
- 37:53It only took one hundred and ten races, but we got there.
- 37:57Just real quick, Haas, allegedly KMage could be gone. Beerman could be in next season.
- 38:05Does that hold any weight? I think it's probably I think Beerman has a shot at one of the Haas seats in general.
- 38:12So for sure. Yeah, I think they just match him with KMage then.
- 38:16I think they want another young driver in there or do they go after like a Danny Rick instead of KMage?
- 38:21Is that an advantage for Haas? So do you keep KMage?
- 38:24We're just talking about his role this year. That's what I mean. He's not really somebody you put there to like help train or build a young driver.
- 38:30So do you do you even do you waste your time with KMage or you try to go elsewhere and get one of those people that's kind of on the out?
- 38:37Maybe like an Albon even. Oh, I don't hate that. I don't hate that either.
- 38:42I think I'd rather see Albon at Williams than at Haas for some weird reason.
- 38:46But I think he has a better chance of competing at Haas with where the cars are at right now. Albon.
- 38:50That's an interesting thought. That is interesting. Can they afford him though?
- 38:53Obviously, we know Haas is probably going to get whatever's left over after everybody else starts signing.
- 38:59I would imagine. So that's an interesting point, though.
- 39:01So let's say that Haas finishes, you know, eighth and Sobran Williams don't finish above them.
- 39:06And it's like a big separation between whatever of those two teams is going to get three points this year.
- 39:12So if it's a big separation like that, does somebody like Albon want to stay at Williams and take a little bit of a pay cut to get more points to show he's one of these top tier drivers to maybe get into one of those seats in the game?
- 39:22To get into one of those seats in the future in those top teams?
- 39:26You know, because let's say Red Bull does take checko next year. Albon goes into a Haas and starts getting consistent seventh, seventh, eighths maybe a really good look.
- 39:34And then boom, maybe that Red Bull seat opens up for him. But is that or is that a bad move like Rick going to Rinald?
- 39:40That's that's the catch was a wild move. Yeah, obviously didn't work.
- 39:44I don't think it's as wild as that because Albon's not in a race winning car and he's not going to a race winning car or like a race fighting a winning like a podium fighting car.
- 39:56Yeah, that that move between that Danny made was absurd, weird.
- 40:00But the point the point was not that he was going from a winning car to a less winning car.
- 40:04The point that I was trying to make was it hurt his credibility for other people to pick him up.
- 40:10I think he didn't have a tag on him anymore. He didn't. He was a Red Bull.
- 40:14Yeah, I think they still look at how he performed in a better car knowing dang well that rental car was just not not good.
- 40:22I think at this level, too, teams care about who's going to give him the best chance to win, who's the better driver, what's the best driver is going to give you a chance to win.
- 40:28They can get rid. They can shoo away some of that other little stuff.
- 40:31I mean, look at not comparing him to Kim, Kim, you're right.
- 40:34And don't get me wrong here, but media hated him like he never gave anybody the type of the time of day.
- 40:41But he was one hell of a race car driver. Yeah.
- 40:44But it's also a risk because you're going against Beerman, who has shown that he can race and get points.
- 40:48So does that does that also hurt his credibility down the road if Albon goes there?
- 40:52And it's like, OK, well, Beerman, Beerman is finishing above you every week.
- 40:56But he's now is he given a good point in the car because now you're not looking at Albon getting into one of those nicer seats at that point, for sure.
- 41:03But is Beerman going to do that? And if Albon's in Williams and still beating him in the Haas, he's in the same boat.
- 41:09Get yourself in the position to get yourself the best car build.
- 41:11I guess, right. It is kind of the same deal. Yeah, I guess. I guess it's just a moot point.
- 41:15Well, then the cows opinion. I don't think it's moot.
- 41:18But I think just I think just here's to Danny Rick being in a Haas next year.
- 41:23That'd be so dope, though. I would love to see him on the track again.
- 41:26I mean, I remember Danny was Haas was like, hey, we got you a driver seat for the half year he wasn't in.
- 41:32He turned down all the money that they wanted to get.
- 41:34They couldn't afford. They couldn't afford him. Yeah.
- 41:36He gave him a number and they were like, we don't even spend that much in our car.
- 41:39So they said in a drive to survive when when Danny was switching, I think from Ronaldo, McLaren or whatever with Danny was doing, he's like, we're light years away from being able to afford him.
- 41:50Oh, yeah. I remember like 15 mil or something to the numbers.
- 41:53It was like 20. It was up there. I know. Yeah.
- 41:56Yeah. It makes sense in a Haas car.
- 41:58If you get Danny to go down with that, we'll move into the Italian Italy preview.
- 42:03Danny Rick going to Haas.
- 42:14And obviously right off the bat, of course, we got Joe's preview history, whatever you want to call it.
- 42:21Joe, let it rip.
- 42:22Yeah. Looking forward to the Formula One M.S.C. Cruises Grand Premio del Made in Italy e del Emilia Romagna.
- 42:30Let's say that five times.
- 42:32Everyone we missed last year, unfortunately, due to some awful floods in Emilia Romagna.
- 42:39So the 2022 GP was the last one that we saw there.
- 42:42And it was the first F1 race at Emila that actually hosted people like attendance since 2006 were there at a different track.
- 42:49So they were there 22, 22, 22, 22, that just when like the track came back and stuff.
- 42:56And yeah, for those first two years or so, they couldn't have anyone there because of covid.
- 43:01But in 2022, it looked like it was a wet race, the entire race.
- 43:06And unfortunately, it was a bad race for Carlos, who was tagged by Danny on the first few corners.
- 43:11We saw him landing in the gravel and then getting kind of beach there, just ending his race, getting the first DNF.
- 43:17We saw Lonzo's side pod get damaged. I didn't see him get tagged by anyone.
- 43:21I just saw a clip of Lewis riding alongside him and then all of a sudden the side pod coming off.
- 43:26That ended his race. He also got a DNF.
- 43:28Magnussen was in top five, fighting McLaren and Alfa Romeo for a little while.
- 43:33Let's see. Yeah, he was fighting McLaren and Alfa Romeo for a little while.
- 43:39And then we saw Leclerc in third place on lap 54, spinning out on the chicane of 14 and 15 after taking too much of the curb.
- 43:46Allowing Norris to take advantage of the mistake and take third.
- 43:50Leclerc did get some damage from hitting the wall. He pit, got ninth place.
- 43:55He made his way back up to, I believe, sixth place, just creating a rough race for Ferrari in general for the Italian Grand Prix.
- 44:03So our final was Verstappen, Perez, Norris, Russell and then Bottas in the top five.
- 44:08Another superior Red Bull race. We might see something different this year, though.
- 44:13I mean, Norris got third those those few years ago. Obviously, it's a wildly different car.
- 44:18I mean, I think this was pre. Was this pre-reg changes? 2022?
- 44:25I don't think so.
- 44:27Or 2022 is the first year for the like the new the new the new generation of the car.
- 44:32I can't remember. I can't remember. I don't remember either.
- 44:34Either way, I think it's a wildly different car.
- 44:362023 was such a wash in the first part of the year for McLaren.
- 44:39This is going to be a completely different car in general, but it's a strong car.
- 44:43I think maybe McLaren capitalizes knowing how well they did during that race.
- 44:47They capitalize on it and put upgrades that will work for it.
- 44:51So we got Lando and Oscar 100 percent upgrades for this race.
- 44:56I still think we're going to see Red Bull not not superiority per se, but we're going to see them fighting.
- 45:02But I'm hoping McLaren's up there with them to Ferrari.
- 45:05You want to see them do well in their one of their home races, right?
- 45:09But I just for some reason, Ferrari and home races and unfortunately,
- 45:13Leclerc and home races, they just don't mix very well.
- 45:17Yeah, I mean, I would like to think that the Ferraris can battle the McLaren's for a podium this week,
- 45:23at least Charles, but you make a good point.
- 45:25Charles is in home races. He's not home races. Not if not if.
- 45:28That's Monaco, right? So that's whatever.
- 45:31He just has the worst luck in Monaco.
- 45:33Yeah, he really does.
- 45:35Every single time, every single time.
- 45:37But new upgrades for for Imola, you know, we might see Ferrari really fighting a lot
- 45:42or we might see them with Mercedes-Benz pace with the new Mercedes side pods.
- 45:45Who knows?
- 45:47So who's on your podium?
- 45:49Who's on my podium? It's going to be the same exact podium from 2022.
- 45:52I'm going to say Verstappen, Perez and Norris.
- 45:55Norris, Norris. Verstappen, Perez and Norris.
- 45:58I think I think for me, I got to go as much as I think Checo can absolutely be on the podium this weekend.
- 46:07I think I got to go for Verstappen, one of each, for Verstappen, Leclerc and Lando.
- 46:13I wouldn't be surprised if Oscar had a great run and made a run and finished four or five.
- 46:20Honestly, I kind of expect to see that.
- 46:22And like out of those three teams, I mean, Checo could finish six.
- 46:28I don't think he will, but he absolutely could.
- 46:31I think this is a horrible track for Mercedes, too.
- 46:34I think that there's there's some high speed, fast turns and there's also some very technical turns.
- 46:39I think Mercedes is eight, nine, very low this week.
- 46:43I think it's a it's going to be a tough week for Mercedes.
- 46:46So who finishes in front of Merck then? Are you thinking?
- 46:49So I'll give you my podium.
- 46:50My podium is going to be Verstappen.
- 46:52It's going to be Lando.
- 46:54That's going to be Sions.
- 46:55I think the the turn I'm with you on the one, two, three different cars.
- 47:00I don't think Checo is going to be superb this race.
- 47:02I think Lando with the confidence he's going to get another podium.
- 47:06I don't think it's first.
- 47:07And I think Sions being, you know, kind of in a rut the last couple of weeks, hasn't been outperforming Leclerc.
- 47:13I think this is kind of his race to get it back, especially if they actually get the I'm banking.
- 47:18And the reason I'm putting a Ferrari up there and not to McLaren's is because I'm banking on this upgrade being a big hit for them.
- 47:27That's fair. Who's your podium?
- 47:29I got Verstappen, obviously.
- 47:31I think he's going to come back and win this race.
- 47:34But I got McLaren locking down two and three.
- 47:37I got Lando and Pastry.
- 47:38I think those upgrades were huge last year for Lant or last week.
- 47:41Sorry. Last race.
- 47:43If I could get this technically correct.
- 47:45I hear you.
- 47:46I think those upgrades were huge. And with Pastry having I mean, Pastry, I think he would have fought for a podium if his car wouldn't have got hit last week.
- 47:53So you bring the other half of those upgrades to that car.
- 47:57And I mean, Miami wasn't even designed for those upgrades.
- 48:02This track is more designed what that McLaren can really go out and do.
- 48:06So I was just the track they were talking about that it was like what what style of track was the upgrades more designed for?
- 48:12I never high speed corners and more of that technicality.
- 48:16OK, so because like Miami doesn't really have it has like the you know, on the back side of the track, like that one chicane where Verstappen took out the cone.
- 48:23But other than that, Miami is not that technical of a track.
- 48:26This one definitely is where a Mola, you know, you got two big chicanes, you got that that last back.
- 48:31It's not like a 180 technically because it's two corners, but it's essentially you have to get that down perfect.
- 48:36And you're coming in with decent speed to be able to take it onto the straight where I mean, I think that McLaren is going to be super fast.
- 48:41I wouldn't be surprised if Lando grabbed another win this week.
- 48:45I wouldn't, but I think it's going to be like Red Bull is going to figure that car out for Max.
- 48:50I don't think I also I wouldn't be surprised if there's not a Red Bull in the top three with this.
- 48:54There's not a huge there's not like any huge straightaways.
- 48:58There's not any huge top speed in this track.
- 49:00There's only one DRS zone.
- 49:01Yeah. So I mean, like if there's if there's a track where we're going to find out what Verstappen really has with all these upgrades,
- 49:08if the Ferrari's upgrades are what they say they are, then this is a track where you don't see Verstappen in the top three maybe.
- 49:14I mean, finding out what Verstappen has, but literally finding out what everybody else has at this point, too.
- 49:18I think I think this is actually a really interesting race.
- 49:22I did want to circle back, though. So you said Mercedes, you're thinking eight, nine.
- 49:26Who do you think is finishing in front of them? Are we like Fernando maybe?
- 49:29Yeah. So we see Yuki finish in front of Merck's.
- 49:32No, so I think he split him.
- 49:34Yeah. But I think what we see is the Ferrari, the Red Bull and the McLaren top six.
- 49:40Yeah. Maybe with Cecho falling a little or whatever.
- 49:42I think we see Fernando above them with a technical course like this or track, if you will.
- 49:48I think this is kind of where he's going to really show off his skills.
- 49:52So I think you're going to see eight, nine out of Mercedes because Fernando is going to jump into seventh.
- 49:58Fair enough. Who's ten?
- 49:59Ten is going to be this week is going to be.
- 50:01Hulkenberg.
- 50:02Yeah, I want to see Hulkenberg. It might be Yuki, though.
- 50:05I might I might go more towards Yuki this week.
- 50:08Because of the track.
- 50:09I'd say Yuki or Okon.
- 50:10And Haas is known for the top end speed.
- 50:13I need to see more from Alpines this week.
- 50:15They look good in the sprint and the race last week.
- 50:17That car is a completely different car from week one.
- 50:20I know. I need to see it another week, though.
- 50:22You know what I mean? I would love to see my boy Gasly get a point. I'd love that.
- 50:28But I mean, yeah, it could be Okon.
- 50:31I think it's got to be Yuki. I think this this this track doesn't suit Haas.
- 50:36I think it can suit Yuki.
- 50:37Sure.
- 50:38I I unfortunately think one of the Mercedes is going to have a really bad weekend again.
- 50:43And unfortunately, I think it's probably going to be Lewis.
- 50:45I didn't say anything, but he finished 14th in 2022 at this track.
- 50:49So I don't know if maybe I wouldn't say he's a I don't know if he's bad at his track because it's Lewis Hamilton.
- 50:55I think maybe the car is just not great here.
- 50:58So unfortunately, I think one of the Mercedes is going to be out of the top 10.
- 51:01And I agree with Alonso.
- 51:04I mean, I would say probably V carbon than a Haas fill in those last two spots in as well.
- 51:10With more than with one mer completely out of the top.
- 51:13I think with one mer completely out.
- 51:15Yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking.
- 51:17There you have it. There's our storylines for a Mola for sure.
- 51:21Just like that. Any any parting thoughts?
- 51:23I mean, anybody else?
- 51:25I think if if any one of ours kind of land with our predictions on this,
- 51:30how to start throwing some bread at it, throwing some cheddar at it.
- 51:33We'll give us an update on that.
- 51:35So last week, we had this last race, we had some some turning turning numbers here.
- 51:40Joe only got one point, so he's at 11.
- 51:42I was able to grab two, so I tied him at 11 and Smelty got two right.
- 51:47Or sorry, I got one. Me and Cole and I got one point.
- 51:50I can't talk.
- 51:52Both of you got two points.
- 51:54Cole have nine, Joe and I have 11.
- 51:56Hey, I'm not like alone in last anymore.
- 52:00I got something to play for. Only two back.
- 52:03I might I might need to change up my strategy because every single week,
- 52:06I'm rooting for you guys to win in the points in like this points more than I am
- 52:10because like I'm going like save.
- 52:12You want to see the difference?
- 52:14I want to see the three points.
- 52:16I mean, I want to see Oscar Lando and then Red and then Versapin.
- 52:19Obviously, I don't want to see Verstappen check out.
- 52:21You're at 11.
- 52:23That's right. You're tied for the lead.
- 52:25Take a chance.
- 52:27All right, Ocon.
- 52:29Ocon, it's your time to shine.
- 52:31You might as well just keep rolling over the money line and Verstappen check.
- 52:34You got them up there. That's what I'm saying.
- 52:35Yeah. How many times do I have?
- 52:37All but twice.
- 52:38Damn. That's where the last the two times that I didn't.
- 52:41Did I get points those weekends?
- 52:43You didn't have him for Japan and he finished second.
- 52:50OK, so it's only been once.
- 52:51OK, well, there you go.
- 52:52I guess it's going to be Verstappen check all year.
- 52:54Oh, yeah. I put Perez instead of check.
- 52:56That's why I was throwing it off.
- 52:57That makes sense.
