- 0:02Speaker 1: Welcome into Off the Bench, presented by All-Star Toyota.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Ooh, you're scary. We're bringing you the spookiest.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Sports talk in town.
- 0:13Speaker 2: With Jacob Hester and Matt Lynn.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Terrifying and terrible. Live from the haunted Raising Cane's.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Studio, here's Jacob Hester and Matt Lynn.
- 0:31Speaker 1: All right, welcome back in OTB.
- 0:34Speaker 4: It is Tuesday morning.
- 0:36Speaker 3: It is 9 a.m.
- 0:36Speaker 1: And so we're going to catch up with our guy,
- 0:39Speaker 1: Nick Underhill, New Orleans dot football.
- 0:43Speaker 4: Nicholas, always a pleasure.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Hope it was, you know, after a Saints W last night,
- 0:49Speaker 1: getting back in the Superdome.
- 0:50Speaker 4: That did not happen.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Didn't really get close to happening, but still glad to
- 0:55Speaker 1: have you on.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Sure, sure. Sure, man. Glad to get up and get
- 0:59Speaker 3: on with you guys.
- 1:00Speaker 4: All right. I mean, so many different things to talk about.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Start with 17 different ways that we could probably have
- 1:09Speaker 1: a conversation about the Saints. But for you, somebody that
- 1:12Speaker 1: is around this team, covers this team every single day,
- 1:15Speaker 1: what was the thing that stood out to you the most?
- 1:19Speaker 5: I mean, they're just completely unprepared week after week after
- 1:22Speaker 5: week after week after week after.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Week to start a game.
- 1:25Speaker 5: You know, last week they finally led at the end
- 1:27Speaker 5: of the first quarter for the first time in the
- 1:29Speaker 5: Kalamore era.
- 1:30Speaker 2: They came out here.
- 1:30Speaker 5: They looked like they weren't ready to start a game.
- 1:34Speaker 5: And then they never got ready to play at all
- 1:36Speaker 5: in any in any faucet. Defense was abysmal.
- 1:41Speaker 2: You know, I think.
- 1:42Speaker 5: For me though, like my, my, my aim is aimed
- 1:45Speaker 5: more on the offense than the defense. Like, look, there
- 1:48Speaker 5: was no way they were winning that game last night.
- 1:49Speaker 5: So by no means is that a pass, but I
- 1:51Speaker 5: mean like in the macro sense of like, how are
- 1:53Speaker 5: the saints going to win games? It's always been on
- 1:55Speaker 5: the offense. It's always been about, you know, what they
- 1:58Speaker 5: can do on that side of the ball. They invested
- 1:59Speaker 5: everything on that side of the ball and you can't
- 2:02Speaker 5: come out and play games the way they did. Um,
- 2:04Speaker 5: they ended with the status 24 points of all time.
- 2:07Speaker 5: That last touchdown, I thought was absolutely embarrassing that they
- 2:10Speaker 5: went for it to try to get it with their
- 2:12Speaker 5: starters on the field. Crystal lobby takes a hit to
- 2:14Speaker 5: the knee and, and almost gets hurt, you know, has
- 2:17Speaker 5: to leave the field, limps off the field. That was
- 2:19Speaker 5: a horrible game management. Um, it's just bad, man. Like I, like,
- 2:25Speaker 5: I don't know what they're trying to do. I don't
- 2:26Speaker 5: know what their philosophies are on offense.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Um, I don't know.
- 2:32Speaker 2: It's just, it's confusing to watch right now.
- 2:34Speaker 5: Like I don't understand how you can be an offensive
- 2:36Speaker 5: coach and this isn't like a saints issue. This is
- 2:38Speaker 5: going back to Dallas. Every team he's been with can't
- 2:42Speaker 5: score on the opening drive. Like it, it would just
- 2:44Speaker 5: seem like at some point you would back into a
- 2:47Speaker 5: good 15 and like just go down the field and
- 2:50Speaker 5: score and they can't like, I don't, I'm not smart
- 2:53Speaker 5: enough to understand it. Like I've been asking about it
- 2:55Speaker 5: for two years. Um, there's no answers on it. There's
- 2:58Speaker 5: no answers really on anything. Um, I, you know, I
- 3:02Speaker 5: don't know.
- 3:02Speaker 2: It's, it's, it's, it's a tough watch.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Nick it's, I mean, with a bad running game, it's,
- 3:09Speaker 3: I mean, it's really hard to get first 15. You
- 3:12Speaker 3: are going to schedule in running plays in that situation.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Like if you can't run the football, then everything is
- 3:19Speaker 3: reliant on the right arm of your quarterback. And so like,
- 3:23Speaker 3: it just makes to me when that makes sense, if
- 3:25Speaker 3: you can't get a running game going. So like if,
- 3:28Speaker 3: When you watch that, is there anything from the offensive
- 3:30Speaker 3: line perspective, schematically? I'm sure you do a lot of
- 3:33Speaker 3: charting of these first 15 plays in the first quarter.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Are there tendencies that they're leaning on too much that
- 3:40Speaker 3: you've seen?
- 3:42Speaker 5: I don't think they get any push. It's all very,
- 3:45Speaker 5: very passive. I talk to other people that focus on
- 3:50Speaker 5: offensive line and all that stuff, and there's some disagreement
- 3:53Speaker 5: in league circles about some of the technique and some
- 3:57Speaker 5: of the way they're going at it. A little too
- 3:59Speaker 5: vertical is often the criticism that I hear about how
- 4:03Speaker 5: they're trying to play things.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Look, the run game.
- 4:07Speaker 5: so even that's weird though because you got an offensive
- 4:10Speaker 5: guru as a coach and like last year they were
- 4:13Speaker 5: 32nd in situations where not all play action attempts but
- 4:17Speaker 5: like spots where teams would typically use it where it
- 4:19Speaker 5: would be most effective they were 32nd and attempts there
- 4:22Speaker 5: on play action so like they aren't even getting to
- 4:24Speaker 5: that stuff it's like they're saving their play actions for
- 4:26Speaker 5: later in the game and.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Then they're behind and then they have no.
- 4:29Speaker 5: No opportunity to do any of that stuff um they
- 4:33Speaker 5: changed some of their, their run scheme up this year.
- 4:35Speaker 5: They're doing more outside zone and leaning into that. It's
- 4:41Speaker 5: just a, it's a, it's a weird team, man. Like,
- 4:43Speaker 5: because I couldn't tell you a single thing really about
- 4:47Speaker 5: their philosophy because they refuse to communicate anything too. And
- 4:50Speaker 5: then they lose games and there's just kind of no
- 4:52Speaker 5: answers for anything. So it's not even like, well, they
- 4:54Speaker 5: were trying to do this, but this is what ended
- 4:56Speaker 5: up happening. I can't really tell you like, why they
- 5:00Speaker 5: believe in anything. Cause you ask about it and it's
- 5:02Speaker 5: just kind of like, you know, quick few mumbled words
- 5:06Speaker 5: and nothing's explained. Like, so, so nobody understands anything about
- 5:10Speaker 5: what they're trying to do or why, or what his
- 5:11Speaker 5: philosophies are, or like, this is where I got this from.
- 5:14Speaker 2: And this is what I'm doing.
- 5:15Speaker 5: Like I knew Sean Payton was going to go out
- 5:17Speaker 5: there and he was going to run, you know, power
- 5:20Speaker 5: run game, have the fullback, try to get double teams.
- 5:23Speaker 5: He was going to be able to get the levels
- 5:24Speaker 5: in any situation from any look. And that's how they
- 5:27Speaker 5: were going to try to attack. Sean, you know, he
- 5:30Speaker 5: would explain that he was trying to create triangle reads and,
- 5:32Speaker 5: you know, all this stuff.
- 5:34Speaker 2: And, you know, I don't know.
- 5:36Speaker 5: I knew Kubiak, you know, exactly what he wanted to do.
- 5:38Speaker 5: It was outside zone, build the play action off it,
- 5:41Speaker 5: get the quarterback on the move, pure progressions, why they
- 5:44Speaker 5: wanted to do that. You know, he would explain how
- 5:46Speaker 5: they were trying to marry their feet to their eyes.
- 5:47Speaker 5: And he was the worst communicator of all time. But like,
- 5:50Speaker 5: you still knew what he was going to do because
- 5:51Speaker 5: there was a set of core beliefs. I don't know
- 5:54Speaker 5: what that is right now. And I don't, I don't
- 5:55Speaker 5: know that it's clear to, you know, anybody really like
- 5:59Speaker 5: it just, it just, it's a frustrating place. Like they're talented.
- 6:02Speaker 5: They could easily go win the next two games. And
- 6:05Speaker 5: it could be like the Drake May thing where like,
- 6:06Speaker 5: why does Drake May suck? And then he beats Josh Allen.
- 6:09Speaker 5: And you're like, Oh, the Patriots are back on track.
- 6:11Speaker 5: Like they're talented enough to get back on track. I
- 6:13Speaker 5: don't think they're, they're completely cooked or anything, but they
- 6:17Speaker 5: could be.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Like, they got to figure out how to start these games.
- 6:21Speaker 3: What you're kind of talking about sounds to me like
- 6:25Speaker 3: from a, Offensive play design from an offensive coordinator, head coach,
- 6:30Speaker 3: whatever they're trying to do offensively, they're trying to design
- 6:32Speaker 3: really good plays, and they're not trying to design really
- 6:35Speaker 3: good game plans. So a game plan is something that
- 6:40Speaker 3: makes sense. It's like a book. From cover to cover,
- 6:42Speaker 3: there's like a story that's being told. There's twists. There's turns.
- 6:45Speaker 3: You don't know what's coming next. And it all melds
- 6:48Speaker 3: together to come and create this beautiful story that is
- 6:51Speaker 3: a football game and a game plan. They're just trying
- 6:54Speaker 3: to write really good chapters, like really good plays. And
- 6:57Speaker 3: that's what you're trying to tell me, because you just
- 6:58Speaker 3: don't know what they are. There's no identity to the team.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:02Speaker 5: And you know, it's like, I draw out every play
- 7:05Speaker 5: they run, like, and I've been doing that for a year.
- 7:07Speaker 5: And like, it used to be, they do something to
- 7:09Speaker 5: be like, man, week four, they did this play. And
- 7:11Speaker 5: then like, you're in week 12 drawn out to plays.
- 7:13Speaker 5: And you're like, oh man, like they set that up
- 7:15Speaker 5: there and they build a tendency off it to break
- 7:17Speaker 5: it here. And like, I don't know that these things
- 7:20Speaker 5: are kind of coming together right now, you know?
- 7:22Speaker 2: So yeah.
- 7:23Speaker 5: It's– yeah, like, it feels like a lack of preparation.
- 7:28Speaker 5: And he pointed to that himself last night. And I
- 7:32Speaker 5: could– like, I agree with it. Like, it just feels
- 7:34Speaker 5: like– it just feels like they aren't ever ready to
- 7:36Speaker 5: start a game. Like, at some point, it just feels
- 7:38Speaker 5: like you would find something to break the other team. Like,
- 7:42Speaker 5: Pete Carmichael, man, like, I thought he did a bad
- 7:44Speaker 5: job calling plays, but he did a great job researching. And, like,
- 7:47Speaker 5: he would find tendencies in other teams. And I remember–
- 7:51Speaker 5: I can't remember what year it was. Maybe– 17 or 18,
- 7:54Speaker 5: they played Buffalo and they had found this like tackle overplay.
- 7:57Speaker 5: And then they built like their whole plan off it
- 7:59Speaker 5: because they saw how they defended it against another team
- 8:02Speaker 5: and then just cooked them with it. Like at some
- 8:04Speaker 5: point you would find something that's just going to break
- 8:07Speaker 5: the other team and those first 15. And this isn't
- 8:09Speaker 5: like a small, like we're talking over the course of like,
- 8:11Speaker 5: you know, a season and a quarter. Now at some
- 8:14Speaker 5: point you would just have the perfect plan to go
- 8:16Speaker 5: down the field and just, we know they're going to
- 8:18Speaker 5: defend this like this and we're going to exploit the
- 8:20Speaker 5: hell out of it. And it's just like, they aren't
- 8:22Speaker 5: finding those things. So it's hard. It's hard to understand
- 8:26Speaker 5: that part of it. Like everything else I can, whatever, like,
- 8:29Speaker 5: but man, at some point, like as an offensive coach,
- 8:31Speaker 5: you got to start a game and.
- 8:34Speaker 2: They like you're behind every game.
- 8:36Speaker 5: So then, yeah, you can't run the ball and then
- 8:37Speaker 5: you got a bad run plan and, and that isn't
- 8:40Speaker 5: coming together.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Um, it's, it's, it's tough to watch, man.
- 8:43Speaker 5: They, they, they desperately got to figure this stuff out. Um, Because, look,
- 8:48Speaker 5: I mean, like, I don't think they're a 12-win team, but, like,
- 8:50Speaker 5: they should be way more competitive than this. And you
- 8:54Speaker 5: absolutely can't. You just can't lose that game like that. Like,
- 8:57Speaker 5: there's a million ways you could have lost that game,
- 8:58Speaker 5: and most of them wouldn't have been forgivable. But this
- 9:02Speaker 5: was the worst possible way. Like, it was embarrassing, man. Like,
- 9:05Speaker 5: this whole buildup, and then they come out, and Bijan
- 9:08Speaker 5: goes on touchdown in the field. You got nothing on offense.
- 9:13Speaker 5: Just really tough.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Catching up with a guy, Nick Underhill, New Orleans.football here
- 9:18Speaker 1: on OTB.
- 9:20Speaker 4: And I know this has kind of turned into.
- 9:22Speaker 1: A therapy session, but it is what it is after
- 9:24Speaker 1: what you saw last night, what we all saw last night.
- 9:27Speaker 1: And I understand who I'm saying this to as well.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I sold my stock, man.
- 9:32Speaker 1: All right.
- 9:32Speaker 4: I was about to ask you. I was about to
- 9:34Speaker 4: ask you. It's gone.
- 9:35Speaker 6: Okay.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Because no third round pick has ever gotten more chances
- 9:41Speaker 1: and opportunities with less production than your guy.
- 9:44Speaker 4: Never ever in the history of the NFL.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Major L for me.
- 9:48Speaker 5: And it's unfortunate because like the Kendrick thing was like,
- 9:51Speaker 5: you know, kind of a bit.
- 9:53Speaker 2: And then it.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Got like very serious.
- 9:55Speaker 2: I felt like I fumbled that ball, man.
- 9:58Speaker 5: Like I i was i swear i was like oh
- 10:00Speaker 5: no i like i knew it was coming i like
- 10:03Speaker 5: i just you know turned turned off the the twitter
- 10:05Speaker 5: tab at that.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Moment and was like nope uh Yeah, that was tough, man.
- 10:10Speaker 5: Like it's it's this was his moment. He had an
- 10:13Speaker 5: opportunity to kind of show what he could do. You know,
- 10:15Speaker 5: it's kind of funny. Like Marcus Davenport's retirement came out
- 10:18Speaker 5: at halftime of that game. And I think there's some
- 10:20Speaker 5: parallels there between those two guys like scintillating talent. And,
- 10:24Speaker 5: you know, if you're watching it, there's just things that
- 10:27Speaker 5: you're going to believe. Like Kevin White was kind of
- 10:29Speaker 5: like that, too. Just things would happen in practice. You're like, man,
- 10:32Speaker 5: this guy like it. If just a couple things clicked,
- 10:34Speaker 5: it could be unbelievable. And, you know, it just never came.
- 10:37Speaker 5: It never came together. You know, he's got three more games.
- 10:40Speaker 5: H & N' s not playing. But that was brutal, man. And,
- 10:44Speaker 5: you know, the week before, he fumbled out of bounds.
- 10:46Speaker 5: So you're already playing with fire. And then you come
- 10:48Speaker 5: back and you.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Lose the ball. Kind of a tough fumble call.
- 10:51Speaker 5: But even beyond that, like the running game wasn't there. Yeah,
- 10:55Speaker 5: the stock's gone, man. We took a loss on those shares.
- 10:59Speaker 5: Just time to move on.
- 11:00Speaker 3: All right, Nick. Okay, so the Saints get an F
- 11:03Speaker 3: for yesterday. There were some guys that played well. I
- 11:05Speaker 3: still think Tyler Shuck played well. Chase Young was high motor,
- 11:08Speaker 3: high effort. So there's a few positive takeaways, but nobody
- 11:11Speaker 3: really cares about the positive. They lost. It was embarrassing
- 11:14Speaker 3: on a huge moment for the Saints. Finally, prime time.
- 11:18Speaker 3: They embarrassed themselves in a bad loss, so they get
- 11:21Speaker 3: an F. But talk about the dome, the atmosphere. What
- 11:24Speaker 3: grade would you get? All the scenes pregame, the feel outside. Like,
- 11:29Speaker 3: what would you grade? fans, the dome, everything, at least
- 11:33Speaker 3: leading up to kickoff.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Leading up to kickoff. It was great.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:38Speaker 5: 10 out of 10. I feel like it was like
- 11:39Speaker 5: the most anticipated game in a long time. Like the
- 11:42Speaker 5: whole city felt like a parking lot, you know, just
- 11:44Speaker 5: kind of you're out in the afternoon and it's just
- 11:46Speaker 5: saints stuff everywhere. Like the buildup was crazy. You know,
- 11:50Speaker 5: I get there like three, three and a half hours
- 11:52Speaker 5: before the game. usually I'm the first car pulling into
- 11:55Speaker 5: that place. And it was already filled up under the bridge.
- 11:58Speaker 5: And inside the building, you felt the celebration, the whole
- 12:03Speaker 5: chant with Drew and Gleason and everybody out there, Mike Tirico.
- 12:07Speaker 5: And then they invited the whole world to the city
- 12:12Speaker 5: just to kind of show their ass, which is.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Not fortunate. By the end, man, like really.
- 12:20Speaker 5: I just hope they were paying attention because by the
- 12:22Speaker 5: end of the game, it was literally just red in
- 12:26Speaker 5: the stands with about seven minutes left in the fourth quarter.
- 12:29Speaker 5: They're chanting weed in the Superdome on the day where
- 12:32Speaker 5: it's a celebration of the city.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Very tough look. And they need to earn it. They
- 12:37Speaker 2: got to earn their way back.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Analytically, I agree with kicking... you know, getting the ball
- 12:44Speaker 5: and having the chance for the double score. Like, I
- 12:46Speaker 5: think that that's a cheat code in football. More teams
- 12:48Speaker 5: should lean into it and try harder to set it
- 12:50Speaker 5: up in this game though. Like where, you know, you
- 12:53Speaker 5: don't have your, your defensive players to not take the
- 12:56Speaker 5: ball and try to get something going and keep everything
- 12:58Speaker 5: behind you. That was a little bit surprising to me too.
- 13:01Speaker 5: Just kind of knowing like the situation of the game
- 13:03Speaker 5: that Kate Nellis, Grando, Anthony Jennings, like quietly a huge
- 13:07Speaker 5: loss for them.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Pete Werner playing through his stinger. Like, this is, I
- 13:12Speaker 2: don't know. It was bad. Like by the end of
- 13:14Speaker 2: the game, it backfired on them. You know, the buildup
- 13:16Speaker 2: was great.
- 13:17Speaker 5: And you saw the spirit of the city and you
- 13:21Speaker 5: see why new Orleans believes in new Orleans.
- 13:22Speaker 2: But by the end of that game, like, I don't,
- 13:25Speaker 2: you know, I don't think they.
- 13:25Speaker 5: Believed in the saints anymore and they, they shouldn't like,
- 13:28Speaker 5: they're going to have to earn that back big time.
- 13:30Speaker 5: And I, you know, I just think, I think the
- 13:32Speaker 5: honeymoon is kind of over on, you.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Know, just, Oh, well they, they might figure this out.
- 13:36Speaker 5: They might do that. Like Tyler's good. Chris is good.
- 13:39Speaker 5: Chase Young's good. Wrestling really got a lot to prove.
- 13:43Speaker 4: All right. Well, we kind of talked about it earlier.
- 13:47Speaker 4: And last one for you, Nick.
- 13:49Speaker 1: The next three games, you've got the Minnesota Vikings who
- 13:52Speaker 1: have an incredible defense. They're 4-0. You go on the
- 13:55Speaker 1: road against the Giants. And look, they're 3-1. Regardless of
- 13:59Speaker 1: who they've played and who they have available, they're 3-1.
- 14:01Speaker 1: And it's going to be on the road. And then
- 14:03Speaker 1: you go to France to play the Pittsburgh Steelers. What
- 14:07Speaker 1: is your outlook on those three games for this Saints
- 14:10Speaker 1: team that's been so up and down?
- 14:12Speaker 5: I mean, I think they can definitely beat the Giants
- 14:15Speaker 5: and the Steelers. I think both those games are tougher
- 14:18Speaker 5: than they looked two weeks ago, though. You know, Jackson
- 14:20Speaker 5: Dark goes down. You're like, oh, that's a win for sure.
- 14:22Speaker 5: And they've played well. You know, I don't know. I
- 14:26Speaker 5: think their quarterback play has been a little inconsistent. But
- 14:29Speaker 5: they're a tough opponent. And I think Pittsburgh, you know,
- 14:32Speaker 5: if– Rogers and Mike don't kill each other before then.
- 14:36Speaker 5: Like they, they look formidable enough to be challenging. Flores
- 14:43Speaker 5: is terrified. Like probably the most terrifying person you can
- 14:45Speaker 5: play when your offense is struggling to find identity and
- 14:47Speaker 5: get stuck stuff going early.
- 14:49Speaker 4: He only blitzes like 80% of the time, man.
- 14:54Speaker 5: You know, and I think they have some trouble with
- 14:56Speaker 5: the skies at times, young quarterback. Like, this is just
- 14:59Speaker 5: a tough game for any quarterback that, you know, doesn't
- 15:02Speaker 5: have 35 starts under their belt. So, yeah, I think
- 15:06Speaker 5: this is probably the worst matchup you can have offensively
- 15:09Speaker 5: coming off of that game. This is not the shakeback game.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Oh, cool. They're winnable.
- 15:14Speaker 5: I mean, they're a beatable team. They don't have a
- 15:16Speaker 5: lot on offense. Justin Jefferson's been hurt. But, man, Flores, yeah,
- 15:20Speaker 5: he's going to blitz.
- 15:21Speaker 2: He's going to disguise. They're going to be confused.
- 15:23Speaker 5: They're going to have to find their way through hell
- 15:26Speaker 5: if they're going to get a win here.
- 15:29Speaker 3: I thought the one positive takeaway I thought was the
- 15:31Speaker 3: passing game last night. I know the offense didn't put
- 15:34Speaker 3: up a ton of points, but when you run the
- 15:35Speaker 3: ball like they did, it's bad. I mean, the defense,
- 15:38Speaker 3: I mean, defense.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Here's the problem with their passing offense, though, man.
- 15:41Speaker 5: Like, why is it– You're a quarterback, so maybe you
- 15:47Speaker 5: watch this and maybe we need.
- 15:49Speaker 2: The eye in the sky on this.
- 15:50Speaker 5: Why is it that they're only successful or they start
- 15:55Speaker 5: to become successful in the most improbable and impossible situations?
- 15:59Speaker 5: It's like once you get beyond the plan, they have answers.
- 16:02Speaker 5: But when you plan for answers, they don't have them.
- 16:04Speaker 2: So third and seven, they're going to get. Third and four,
- 16:07Speaker 2: they won't. Third and 14 is like the easiest play,
- 16:10Speaker 2: the most automatic play for them.
- 16:12Speaker 5: But fourth and one, like they don't have anything for that.
- 16:15Speaker 5: So it's just, it's, it's a mystifying, like, it's just
- 16:20Speaker 5: so confusing.
- 16:21Speaker 2: But yeah, I agree.
- 16:22Speaker 3: It's third and four. Yeah. Call a third and 10
- 16:24Speaker 3: play is what you're saying. Don't go for the sticks.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Push it down the field.
- 16:28Speaker 5: Like, I don't understand why, like why it happens like that,
- 16:30Speaker 5: but our, like a lot of our positivity about this
- 16:33Speaker 5: team last year and this year is scoring points when
- 16:36Speaker 5: they're way behind or converting these third downs that nobody
- 16:39Speaker 5: else gets.
- 16:40Speaker 2: And then they keep drives going and they start, scoring it.
- 16:43Speaker 5: And like, it, it's incredibly frustrating that the whole first
- 16:46Speaker 5: half looks like that.
- 16:47Speaker 2: And then they'll come out.
- 16:47Speaker 5: Like sometimes it's not the first job in the third quarter,
- 16:50Speaker 5: but there's always a job in the third quarter where
- 16:52Speaker 5: it's like, oh, this is how it works. And then,
- 16:55Speaker 5: and then they just start moving from there. And that's
- 16:57Speaker 5: how it goes. It's just very, very weird.
- 17:01Speaker 4: You got anything for that Flynn?
- 17:03Speaker 3: Yeah, no, just come out in two minutes. No huddle.
- 17:07Speaker 4: I mean, basically that's what their offense is anyway, with
- 17:09Speaker 4: no running game.
- 17:10Speaker 3: I mean, pretty much you could try to run it.
- 17:12Speaker 3: If like, I know you invest a lot of money
- 17:14Speaker 3: in the running game, but it stinks. So just, just
- 17:16Speaker 3: get into two minute every time.
- 17:18Speaker 4: Fair enough.
- 17:18Speaker 5: 55 times with the second year quarterback and no left
- 17:22Speaker 5: tackle and don't give the left tackle any help and just,
- 17:25Speaker 5: just hope for the best.
- 17:26Speaker 3: I mean, if you did that every game, you'd still
- 17:28Speaker 3: probably be one in three. Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I know we don't have, we don't, we don't have
- 17:32Speaker 1: the time today, but maybe next week when we have
- 17:35Speaker 1: the time, let's talk about the draft choices. for the
- 17:39Speaker 1: Saints team as it's getting worse and worse because the
- 17:43Speaker 1: guy that played Oscar Delp did struggle.
- 17:45Speaker 4: Bad, bad night for Oscar. All right, Nick, we appreciate
- 17:48Speaker 4: you every single week, sir. We'll catch up again next Tuesday.
- 17:50Speaker 2: All right, take it easy, guys.
- 17:53Speaker 4: All right, Nick Underhill, New Orleans Stop Football.
- 17:58Speaker 3: I feel good.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I feel really good. Think about the Saints draft. Jordan
- 18:02Speaker 1: Tyson hadn't played. Christian Miller, where he at, hadn't played.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Oscar Delp, your lowest rated player last night. Jeremiah Wright,
- 18:11Speaker 1: not playing. Bryce Lance, you tried a couple times, didn't connect.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Lorenzo Stiles, IR. Varian Brown, returner. Had a negative five
- 18:23Speaker 1: rush last night.
- 18:23Speaker 4: Oh, boy. All right, we'll take a break. More OTV
- 18:29Speaker 4: when we come back.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Off the bench.

- 20:10Speaker 2: There must have been an angel by my side.
- 20:15Speaker 5: Something heavenly came down from above.
- 20:21Speaker 3: He led me to.
- 20:24Speaker 2: You. He led me to you.

- 20:49Speaker 4: don't know.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I think it's on ABC Games. Next time we have
- 20:51Speaker 1: an ABC game, check it out. KDZBlinds.com, KDZBlinds.com, KDZ Interiors

- 21:01Speaker 1: know your space, learn your space, change your space in
- 21:04Speaker 1: a matter of minutes.
- 21:05Speaker 4: It's inside, it's outside, it's outside, it's inside.
- 21:07Speaker 1: And as we always tell you, sometimes it's.
- 21:09Speaker 4: A little bit of both. Go to ktozblinds.com, ktozblinds.com.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Did anybody in the room feel better about the Saints
- 21:21Speaker 1: after the conversation with Nick? No. That man was the
- 21:26Speaker 1: president of the Kendra Miller fan club, and he sent
- 21:29Speaker 1: him out.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Surprising, though. He came out firing against the offense. That
- 21:34Speaker 3: was a little surprising. He didn't really mention the defense
- 21:36Speaker 3: and how terrible it was. Maybe that was just obvious.
- 21:40Speaker 3: It was a little surprising. He knows. He knows it's bad.
- 21:43Speaker 3: The outfits could be good. He knows we've got to
- 21:47Speaker 3: win 44-41. He looked very sad. Maybe Falcons are just
- 21:58Speaker 3: the greatest thing we've ever seen.
- 21:59Speaker 1: The 2-2 Falcons?
- 22:02Speaker 3: I said that about the Raiders last week, too.
- 22:07Speaker 7: I mean, in fairness, the Raiders hung in there with
- 22:09Speaker 7: the Chiefs. They had opportunities to win that game. They're
- 22:12Speaker 7: a good team. Going into this game, your body of
- 22:16Speaker 7: work looked pretty good. But after last night, we all
- 22:19Speaker 7: feel like real pieces of poo right now.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Like a white dog turd.
- 22:24Speaker 6: We said it before the game. You've got to get
- 22:27Speaker 6: that run game going. And they just have not. And
- 22:29Speaker 6: it's not been there for a while now. Not even
- 22:33Speaker 6: this season. Last season, it wasn't good either.
- 22:36Speaker 2: And.
- 22:37Speaker 6: I mean, I'm not that surprised that he came out.
- 22:41Speaker 5: Like, you're right.
- 22:41Speaker 6: He didn't say much about the defense. But, I mean,
- 22:43Speaker 6: aside from the passing game, like, the offense didn't look
- 22:47Speaker 6: good either. And then the kickers out here missing field goals.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:57Speaker 8: And then you were giving them really good field position, like,
- 22:59Speaker 8: the entire game, too.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Yes.
- 23:03Speaker 6: You were giving them really good field position.
- 23:07Speaker 8: Some of it self-inflicted, some of it, like.
- 23:12Speaker 4: It's been a very unpredictable.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Football season so far. You know, the Seahawks lose to
- 23:20Speaker 1: the Commanders randomly, and they're 3-1, the Seahawks.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Or the backup quarterback.
- 23:23Speaker 1: The backup quarterback. We see stuff like that happen. Like
- 23:28Speaker 1: the Browns are 3-1.
- 23:29Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:31Speaker 1: We could go across the board of things that are surprising,
- 23:34Speaker 1: I think. Patriots are not going to beat Buffalo. And Buffalo,
- 23:37Speaker 1: the way they played, they go and do it. So
- 23:40Speaker 1: it's been surprising. I don't remember an NFL season where
- 23:44Speaker 1: after like four.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Weeks, I'm like, is anybody good? Is anybody truly like
- 23:50Speaker 4: a step above the rest?
- 23:52Speaker 1: And I think right now I've got four teams, two
- 23:57Speaker 1: in each conference that I think are above the rest.
- 24:02Speaker 1: And everybody else is just kind of like rugby scrumming
- 24:05Speaker 1: right underneath them. In the AFC, I'd go Kansas City
- 24:08Speaker 1: and Jacksonville. And then in the NFC, it's San Francisco
- 24:12Speaker 1: and Minnesota. Minnesota offensively is challenged, but their defense is
- 24:16Speaker 1: so damn good, it does not matter right now.
- 24:18Speaker 7: They are blitzing 73% of the time.
- 24:21Speaker 4: 80% last week.
- 24:23Speaker 5: Is it?
- 24:23Speaker 4: 73 for the year, yeah.
- 24:25Speaker 3: The next highest is like 50.
- 24:27Speaker 4: Tampa Bay?
- 24:28Speaker 3: Yeah, and the rest of their defense is terrible.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Yeah, Todd's always going to do that.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Vikings are good on defense. Brian Flores is very good.
- 24:38Speaker 3: He's going to get got here pretty soon. I don't know.
- 24:41Speaker 3: He's going to get got by somebody.
- 24:42Speaker 4: Maybe for a game. For a game.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Not the entirety of a season. I give him a
- 24:46Speaker 1: lot of credit. It's never going to look the same.
- 24:50Speaker 1: He brings pressure from a lot of different places and
- 24:53Speaker 1: pre-snaps it a lot of different ways.
- 24:54Speaker 3: You're right.
- 24:55Speaker 4: I mean, eventually somebody's going to have a game plan
- 24:57Speaker 4: and block it up.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Yep.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Right now, they're just mean and nasty and tough.
- 25:06Speaker 3: I still think the Bears are going to win that division.
- 25:12Speaker 3: I think the Bears are good. I don't know.
- 25:16Speaker 1: I mean, I picked them so, like, it wouldn't be
- 25:18Speaker 1: crazy and, like, you know, they're 3-1.
- 25:23Speaker 4: But seeing Minnesota, and I don't care what the conditions,
- 25:25Speaker 4: I don't care. It's football. Like, going to Chicago and
- 25:28Speaker 4: holding them to three points.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Mm-hmm. It was impressive. It was very impressive.
- 25:35Speaker 1: That is a black and blue division. I mean, it's
- 25:40Speaker 1: going to be a lot of fun. Both the North.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Both North.
- 25:43Speaker 4: AFC, NFC.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Well, we thought it was. I mean, are the Lions
- 25:46Speaker 3: any good? Lions defense is one of the worst defenses
- 25:49Speaker 3: in the league. Yeah, they were giving up. They're awful.
- 25:52Speaker 7: Almost 32 points a game before the Sunday night game.
- 25:55Speaker 1: That offense is going to win them games, though. They're
- 25:58Speaker 1: going to be 9-win, 10-win team.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's a ceiling, though.
- 26:07Speaker 1: But if they win 10 games, Chicago wins 12, Minnesota
- 26:11Speaker 1: wins 11.
- 26:12Speaker 3: If they win 9 or 10 games, they will be
- 26:15Speaker 3: third place in their division.
- 26:16Speaker 1: They were last year. They were fourth place winning nine games.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Packers are going to be lucky to get to six wins. Yeah,
- 26:20Speaker 1: they can't run the ball. They could play dead in
- 26:22Speaker 1: a Western right now.
- 26:27Speaker 4: I'm not kidding. I think it's four teams right now.
- 26:29Speaker 4: Even Seattle. Seattle has some flaws.
- 26:32Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Seattle does. They can, I think, fix them. I think
- 26:36Speaker 1: Sam Darnold being back. But they can't run the ball.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Price is hurt.
- 26:41Speaker 4: Is Zach Charbonnet going to come back and be the
- 26:43Speaker 4: guy that he's been? I don't know. He's coming off
- 26:45Speaker 4: an ACL. I don't know. We don't know that.
- 26:47Speaker 7: Last week, Emmanuel Wilson was their go-to back.
- 26:50Speaker 1: That's two times that he's been their go-to back. They're
- 26:55Speaker 1: plus 32 in the points difference. That's big. They're not
- 26:59Speaker 1: as good as San Francisco. I agree with you on
- 27:02Speaker 1: the Jaguars. The one game they lost, they blew against
- 27:06Speaker 1: Denver on the road.
- 27:07Speaker 3: They did. Who won? The Jaguars are good.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Trevor Lawrence.
- 27:11Speaker 3: I mean, look out, people. Look out. MVP talks. Oh.
- 27:18Speaker 4: Liam Cohen's a wizard.
- 27:21Speaker 3: There's some young coaches out there. Him. Ben Johnson. Kyle Shanahan.
- 27:30Speaker 3: That are kind of on a different level. We talk
- 27:35Speaker 3: about what. I love him. We know. But we talked about, like,
- 27:41Speaker 3: when we just talked about Nick Underhill, like the Saints,
- 27:43Speaker 3: Kellen Moore and them, they're trying to make these pretty
- 27:45Speaker 3: plays instead of building, like, a game plan and an
- 27:48Speaker 3: offense together. That makes sense. Those coaches are not running
- 27:53Speaker 3: a play just because they think it looks good and
- 27:55Speaker 3: could work. They are running a play because they think
- 27:58Speaker 3: it can work, but also because it correlates to this
- 28:01Speaker 3: pre-snap look, and it correlates to what we did. Oh,
- 28:04Speaker 3: we showed this look three weeks ago. Right. Against a
- 28:08Speaker 3: certain defense. So we're going to, like, everything... is tied together.
- 28:12Speaker 3: Every play touches and connects to every other play in
- 28:16Speaker 3: some form or fashion, and their game plans are there,
- 28:19Speaker 3: and then they can execute those things. They're not just
- 28:21Speaker 3: trying to draw up cool plays. And I'm not saying
- 28:24Speaker 3: that's what Kellen Moore and his staff are doing, because
- 28:26Speaker 3: I'm sure they're trying to create that gameplay.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Somebody in the chat actually said it, because you were
- 28:30Speaker 1: explaining it, and he said it really well. He said
- 28:33Speaker 1: he's writing chapters, not the book.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, that's what I said.
- 28:37Speaker 4: That's good.
- 28:38Speaker 3: Thanks, bro.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Makes sense.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:43Speaker 4: You can't do that.
- 28:45Speaker 8: You gotta write the whole book.
- 28:46Speaker 4: You gotta write the whole book. George R.R.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Martin. Yeah, chapters are just short stories.
- 28:51Speaker 4: We're looking for a novel.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Yeah, bud.
- 28:53Speaker 8: Trevor Lawrence plus 650 in MVP odds.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I don't know the hook at the volume. I don't
- 28:58Speaker 1: know the hook at the volume. Because Liam's like, Liam's
- 29:01Speaker 1: going to be balanced. He's not going to have a game.
- 29:02Speaker 3: They like to use him a lot.
- 29:04Speaker 8: Plus 5,000.
- 29:05Speaker 4: And Rodriguez.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Is he really?
- 29:07Speaker 8: Who?
- 29:08Speaker 6: Who?
- 29:08Speaker 4: Plus 5,000?
- 29:10Speaker 3: Plus 5,000.
- 29:10Speaker 4: Should we put $ 10 on that?
- 29:12Speaker 8: So is Jalen Hurts, Jordan Love, and Kenneth Walker.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Well, Bryce Young has the same odds as Jalen Hurts.
- 29:18Speaker 6: Yeah, and he has higher odds than Jackson Smith and
- 29:21Speaker 6: Jigba and Jared Goff and Caleb Williams. Well, I guess
- 29:25Speaker 6: Caleb's out, so that makes sense.
- 29:26Speaker 8: But Josh Allen plus 270.
- 29:29Speaker 4: I'll $ 10 it with you. Those are live?
- 29:32Speaker 3: Dude, I think he's got a long shot to win. Yeah,
- 29:35Speaker 3: but that's a little disrespectful to the way he's been playing.
- 29:37Speaker 3: Dude's on another level right now.
- 29:39Speaker 1: While you place that bet, and I know you were
- 29:41Speaker 1: talking about young football coaches and the hot names and
- 29:44Speaker 1: the flashy guys.
- 29:45Speaker 4: You can't teach an old dog new tricks, but an
- 29:48Speaker 4: old dog can trick you every once.
- 29:50Speaker 2: In a while. True.
- 29:50Speaker 4: Todd Munkin.
- 29:54Speaker 8: Still got game.
- 29:55Speaker 4: Todd Munkin's calling plays.
- 29:56Speaker 3: When he was doing it with Cleveland, It's impressive as hell.
- 30:00Speaker 7: That's the biggest positive surprise for me in the NFL.
- 30:03Speaker 7: Did anybody have the Cleveland Browns going 3-1? Deshaun Watson
- 30:07Speaker 7: actually looking like a good quarterback?
- 30:09Speaker 1: Hey, and also, let's take a look at who they've...
- 30:13Speaker 1: They beat the Panthers and the Steelers the last two weeks.
- 30:16Speaker 1: The Buccaneers are bad, okay. The Panthers just did what
- 30:19Speaker 1: they did to the Lions on Sunday Night Football. I
- 30:22Speaker 1: think the Steelers, they've got a couple good wins under
- 30:24Speaker 1: their belt. They beat Cincinnati. Now, Jacksonville blew them out,
- 30:28Speaker 1: but Jacksonville looks damn good. The Browns have the Jets
- 30:34Speaker 1: coming up this week, a potential of a game with
- 30:37Speaker 1: no Lamar against the Ravens, depending on what that ankle
- 30:39Speaker 1: looks like, and then at the Titans in the next
- 30:42Speaker 1: three games.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Could the Browns be 5-2?
- 30:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:48Speaker 4: I think very easily.
- 30:49Speaker 3: They could be 5-2.
- 30:50Speaker 7: Their defense is good enough. If Deshaun doesn't turn the
- 30:53Speaker 7: ball over.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Which he hasn't.
- 30:54Speaker 7: No, and last week, Judkins caught fire a little bit.
- 30:57Speaker 7: That was his first game where he was.
- 30:59Speaker 4: He had a pulse. He caught the football.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Yeah, he had six passes out of the backfield.
- 31:04Speaker 4: His big plays were out of the passing game.
- 31:06Speaker 3: Which, yeah, I mean, if they can utilize that.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Well, my point in bringing that up is if they
- 31:11Speaker 1: still get the run game. They hadn't got it going yet.
- 31:14Speaker 1: This is the first game all season they've been over
- 31:16Speaker 1: three and some change per carry. First time they've been
- 31:19Speaker 1: over four. Now, Judkins was only 3.1 on 17 carries.
- 31:25Speaker 1: But Deshaun Watson kind of adds to the run game.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Rocket Sanders, I wish he'd get a little bit more run.
- 31:31Speaker 1: I think he's deserved a little bit more. He's been
- 31:34Speaker 1: more successful than Jenkins.
- 31:37Speaker 7: He's a bigger back, too, and that'll help because their
- 31:40Speaker 7: line hasn't been great.
- 31:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I like Raheem Sanders.
- 31:43Speaker 4: Shout out to Todd Munkin.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Josh Allen, plus 270 for MVP. Brock Purdy, plus 330.
- 31:49Speaker 4: Mahomes, plus 650.
- 31:49Speaker 3: Trevor, plus 650. Lamar, plus 800. Let's see, Jameer Gibbs
- 31:56Speaker 3: plus 3,000. Bijan plus 6,000. So Jameer Gibbs has twice
- 32:02Speaker 3: the odds.
- 32:03Speaker 7: He has a lot of touchdowns right now.
- 32:06Speaker 3: Jameer? Yeah, he has a lot of touchdowns. The leading rusher.
- 32:11Speaker 4: Plus 6,000?
- 32:12Speaker 3: Yeah, the leading rusher, Kenneth Walker, is plus 5,000. I
- 32:19Speaker 3: get it. It's a quarterback award. Yeah, sure. But the
- 32:22Speaker 3: fact that Bryce Young, who's leading the NFL, right? In yards?
- 32:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:29Speaker 3: I like that.
- 32:31Speaker 4: I'm trying to find it right now.
- 32:33Speaker 3: I got it pulled up.
- 32:34Speaker 4: No, I'm like, I'm going to bet it.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Capigeon plus. Bryce Young's plus 8,000. Who? Bryce Young on
- 32:46Speaker 4: this app is plus 8,000.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Oh, really? I like that app better.
- 32:49Speaker 6: Right? This one's plus 5,000.
- 32:50Speaker 8: This one's plus 5,000.
- 32:53Speaker 7: The reason Gibbs is where he is, he has seven
- 32:57Speaker 7: touchdowns in four games. This is why his odds are
- 33:01Speaker 7: probably where they are.
- 33:01Speaker 3: All right, makes sense. Because B.
- 33:03Speaker 7: Jones probably actually ran it a little bit better, but
- 33:06Speaker 7: Gibbs has a lot of touchdowns.
- 33:12Speaker 4: Shout out to Bryce Young.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Yeah, he's leading. He has 1,268 yards on the season.
- 33:20Speaker 3: Jared Goff right behind him at 1,214.
- 33:24Speaker 1: As they like to say up in the country, that
- 33:26Speaker 1: dog will hunt. We'll be back more OTB.
- 33:30Speaker 3: Off the bench.
- 33:30Speaker 4: All right, go to getgordon.com.

- 34:35Speaker 6: Presented by Community Steel.
- 34:57Speaker 4: Sweet seducing sighs Get.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Me out Into the night For walls won't warm.
- 35:09Speaker 4: Me tonight If this.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Town Is just an apple Then let me take a
- 35:20Speaker 2: bite If they say.
- 35:23Speaker 4: What All right, welcome back in OTB. I got a text?
- 35:35Speaker 4: I got a text? Yay! Maybe?
- 35:38Speaker 8: I didn't know if you were going to do something here.
- 35:39Speaker 4: That's good.
- 35:40Speaker 3: Okay.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Woo-hoo!
- 35:42Speaker 4: And I was like, it could.
- 35:43Speaker 3: Be a bad text.
- 35:44Speaker 8: Yeah, y'all cheer for this.
- 35:46Speaker 6: I like Hester and Flynn, but their show OTB is
- 35:49Speaker 6: the most boring show on TV. I know it's on
- 35:52Speaker 6: radio also, but they're just two lazy rich dudes.
- 35:55Speaker 8: Unreal, what you can make money at.
- 35:57Speaker 3: All right.
- 35:58Speaker 8: I've always said y'all are super lazy.
- 36:00Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 36:03Speaker 3: That's constructive.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Rich is doing some heavy lifting there.
- 36:13Speaker 3: I wonder if you change your finances, would you be
- 36:15Speaker 3: liked better? Consider that. I've been called a lot of things.
- 36:21Speaker 4: I really like. I don't know that lazy can be
- 36:24Speaker 4: one of them.
- 36:24Speaker 2: No.
- 36:28Speaker 8: I've always said it.
- 36:29Speaker 3: Kind of the opposite.
- 36:30Speaker 8: Like, people ask me all the time. They're like, what's
- 36:31Speaker 8: it like working with Hester and Flynn?
- 36:33Speaker 6: And I'm like, they're so lazy. Like, I have to
- 36:36Speaker 6: do everything for them. They're so lazy.
- 36:38Speaker 8: God.
- 36:41Speaker 4: Anything we can do about that?
- 36:43Speaker 8: Probably not.
- 36:43Speaker 4: Just our face.
- 36:44Speaker 3: Just something about it. It is spooky season, though.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Mwah.
- 36:59Speaker 3: I'll tell you what I am excited about.
- 37:00Speaker 7: Oh, man.
- 37:00Speaker 8: What chapter in the book was that read from?
- 37:09Speaker 3: I am excited about LSU getting back to some SEC play.
- 37:17Speaker 4: Yeah, you, I mean, more than anybody that I've ever
- 37:19Speaker 4: been around.
- 37:20Speaker 8: We've got to do away with the non-cons.
- 37:22Speaker 3: You were going through it.
- 37:23Speaker 8: Unless it was a good non-conference game. Like, if we
- 37:26Speaker 8: were playing, like, a good.
- 37:27Speaker 6: non-conference game that wasn't McNeese, I'd be fine. But, yeah,
- 37:31Speaker 6: let's get back to, like, real good football.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it is.
- 37:36Speaker 4: It came at a weird time, too, because you played
- 37:39Speaker 4: some SEC games.
- 37:39Speaker 6: You played Ole Miss and Texas A & M.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Typically that game would be in November.
- 37:45Speaker 3: I get it.
- 37:45Speaker 4: Like, you're scheduling.
- 37:46Speaker 3: You don't want to put yourself at a competitive disadvantage
- 37:49Speaker 3: to other teams and what they're doing. We need to
- 37:53Speaker 3: fix the whole thing. I mean, there's never an off
- 37:56Speaker 3: week in the NFL. Like, and we go through off weeks, like,
- 38:00Speaker 3: what was it, two weeks ago? The thing was, like,
- 38:02Speaker 3: no games, no good games on TV. Then you get
- 38:06Speaker 3: a weekend where there's a ton of them. Like, every
- 38:08Speaker 3: weekend should be jam-packed with awesome matchups.
- 38:13Speaker 7: I will say, if you're going to play that game,
- 38:15Speaker 7: it did get to come at a good time. I mean,
- 38:20Speaker 7: Sam had the hamstring flare up. And then, look, you
- 38:24Speaker 7: got Kentucky, Mississippi State, Auburn, back to back to back.
- 38:28Speaker 7: then a bye week, then Bama, Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas. The
- 38:32Speaker 7: game actually came at a pretty good time, if you're
- 38:35Speaker 7: going to play it.
- 38:37Speaker 3: Shut up, Taylor. I mean, I don't like the game,
- 38:41Speaker 3: but it came at a good time. Well, I'm excited.
- 38:45Speaker 3: I'm excited to get back to action, head up to Lexington,
- 38:49Speaker 3: right some wrongs that have been in Lexington. Do it
- 38:53Speaker 3: for us, you know? Go beat them there.
- 38:56Speaker 4: Yeah, you got to get it done. Last two times
- 38:57Speaker 4: we talked about it, you have lost.
- 39:00Speaker 1: And in big ways. Won in triple overtime. So, a
- 39:02Speaker 1: close loss, but still a big one as you were
- 39:04Speaker 1: number one team in the country. And one since the
- 39:06Speaker 1: Bluegrass Miracle, correct?
- 39:08Speaker 4: There, right.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Now.
- 39:10Speaker 3: Some would say you squeaked out of that one.
- 39:13Speaker 4: Some would say.
- 39:14Speaker 3: Stole that one.
- 39:15Speaker 4: Now, I mean, you've obviously beaten the hell out of
- 39:17Speaker 4: them here. But there? No, it had been great. Has
- 39:20Speaker 4: not been great. So, it's a.
- 39:25Speaker 1: It's a game that sometimes you don't show it. enough
- 39:30Speaker 1: respect i think it's safe to say yeah like in
- 39:34Speaker 1: the past for sure it's not an opponent again that
- 39:36Speaker 1: you play very often yeah so there's not you know
- 39:39Speaker 1: that already going into it of i don't like you
- 39:42Speaker 1: you don't like me it's like i don't know you.
- 39:45Speaker 3: They've earned the respect they've earned your attention this year
- 39:48Speaker 3: for sure. And Alondra, I think you said it earlier
- 39:50Speaker 3: in the show, like what they did this past week.
- 39:52Speaker 3: I mean, it is South Carolina is not good, but
- 39:53Speaker 3: to be able to come back like that, I mean,
- 39:55Speaker 3: it shows that their program's headed in the right direction.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:00Speaker 6: And it was on the road too. I mean, I
- 40:02Speaker 6: feel like whether South Carolina is good or bad, you
- 40:06Speaker 6: were down 17-0 and you came back on the road.
- 40:09Speaker 6: And what's usually, I feel like Williams-Brice is usually like
- 40:13Speaker 6: a pretty hostile environment.
- 40:15Speaker 8: So I've been.
- 40:17Speaker 6: pretty impressed with Kentucky base only because I thought they
- 40:22Speaker 6: were going to be God awful. Like I thought they
- 40:25Speaker 6: were going to be really, really bad with a new
- 40:27Speaker 6: head coach and also Joe Sloan as their offensive coordinator.
- 40:30Speaker 6: I'll be honest. So like, I just, I have been
- 40:32Speaker 6: a little impressed with Kentucky.
- 40:35Speaker 1: There was a lot of unknown Minchi. Like he was
- 40:37Speaker 1: talented and we heard about his talent. We saw him
- 40:39Speaker 1: come in a little here, a little there. I mean,
- 40:42Speaker 1: it never, what started a game, right?
- 40:44Speaker 4: And so like now it's like, okay, like he's, he's
- 40:47Speaker 4: more talented.
- 40:47Speaker 1: He's better than we thought at, I didn't know that
- 40:52Speaker 1: his accuracy would be good. Um, when he got in,
- 40:55Speaker 1: it was a little, and you know, you, you know
- 40:57Speaker 1: how this is like trying to make a play a
- 40:59Speaker 1: little too much. Sometimes a little Jack rabbit in him,
- 41:02Speaker 1: but I thought he's been good.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Baxter coming over from Texas.
- 41:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 41:08Speaker 4: Like he had some moments. Yeah.
- 41:12Speaker 8: When he hit the portal, I was like adding Lane Kiffin.
- 41:16Speaker 8: It was like on three. It was like CJ Baxter
- 41:17Speaker 8: in the portal, like at lane.
- 41:19Speaker 3: You know who had a big game for him on Saturday?
- 41:22Speaker 3: Nick Anderson. Nick Anderson, yeah.
- 41:25Speaker 4: Who was here for a blink of an eye.
- 41:27Speaker 3: That name sounds familiar.
- 41:28Speaker 8: He had flashes here, too.
- 41:30Speaker 4: Oklahoma, LSU, Kentucky.
- 41:32Speaker 3: Classic.
- 41:33Speaker 4: That's the time line.
- 41:33Speaker 3: Classic roadmap.
- 41:35Speaker 4: Joe Sloan, obviously. He's going east. He's going east.
- 41:37Speaker 3: He is.
- 41:47Speaker 8: If Kentucky had looked like Arkansas does, it would not
- 41:49Speaker 8: have been surprising.
- 41:50Speaker 5: Yes.
- 41:50Speaker 6: And that's why I'm, like, impressed by them. Because I
- 41:53Speaker 6: expected them to be, like, in the bottom of the SEC.
- 41:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 41:58Speaker 3: It's Kentucky, first-year head coach.
- 42:00Speaker 4: Yeah. Joe Sloan. Way ahead of schedule. Yeah. This is, like,
- 42:04Speaker 4: they're a football team that should be ranked in both bowls.
- 42:06Speaker 4: I agree. All right. We will step away one final time.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Going to put a bow on this edition and wrap
- 42:12Speaker 1: it up a little Ask the Bench when we come
- 42:14Speaker 1: back here on OTB.
- 42:15Speaker 3: Off the bench.
- 42:17Speaker 4: All right, go see our friends over at Central Plumbing.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Centralplumbing.org is the website in Baton Rouge and Lafayette now
- 42:23Speaker 1: as well.
- 42:25Speaker 4: That's right.
- 42:25Speaker 1: They are growing, and they helped me out with a problem.
- 42:28Speaker 1: I told you yesterday, like, we've got two gas lanterns.
- 42:31Speaker 4: One was burning. The other had no gas getting to it.
- 42:34Speaker 4: I mean, barely any.
- 42:36Speaker 1: And, well, we didn't know what the problem was. I
- 42:38Speaker 1: bought new equipment. I thought I was going to clean
- 42:41Speaker 1: it out myself.
- 42:42Speaker 4: Nope, can't get that done. I can do a lot
- 42:44Speaker 4: of things. plumbing gas lines not one of them yeah
- 42:47Speaker 4: you shouldn't try to diy.
- 42:48Speaker 1: They came out and they said look yeah no you
- 42:51Speaker 1: got it you need a full cleaning here they did
- 42:53Speaker 1: it it took like 10 minutes from to do it
- 42:55Speaker 1: and now guess what both gas lanterns ready to go
- 42:59Speaker 1: they're always going to be there for you central plumbing.
- 43:01Speaker 3: Go to central plumbing central plumbing dot org your plumbing

- 43:16Speaker 3: they are the experts. Give them a call or go
- 43:18Speaker 3: see them. Centralplumbing.org.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 43:33Speaker 8: Presented by Community Steel.
- 43:46Speaker 5: All right, welcome back here.
- 43:53Speaker 3: Off the bench, closing out the show here on a Tuesday.
- 43:57Speaker 3: When you think about Louisiana, you think about energy and
- 43:59Speaker 3: one company helping shape that future is Catalyst. Catalyst, developing
- 44:02Speaker 3: the Commonwealth LNG export facility over there in Cameron Parish.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Connecting American natural gas with customers around the world. Now
- 44:08Speaker 3: under construction after reaching its final investment decision in 2026.
- 44:12Speaker 3: The project represents a major investment in Louisiana's future, but
- 44:15Speaker 3: it's about more than just exporting energy. It's about creating
- 44:18Speaker 3: Louisiana jobs, supporting local businesses, strengthening communities, and reinforcing Louisiana's
- 44:23Speaker 3: position as one of the world's leading energy hubs. Through
- 44:26Speaker 3: the natural gas production and the Commonwealth LNG project, Catalyst
- 44:29Speaker 3: is helping build an integrated energy platform that connects domestic
- 44:32Speaker 3: resources with growing global demand. As construction continues on Louisiana's
- 44:37Speaker 3: Gold Coast, Caterus is proud to invest in American energy,
- 44:40Speaker 3: American workers, and a stronger economic future. Caterus, connecting Louisiana
- 44:45Speaker 3: energy to the world.
- 44:46Speaker 1: All right, hashtag Ask the Bench. Brought to you by
- 44:50Speaker 1: Ice Cold Dos Equis. Always a great time to go
- 44:52Speaker 1: for dos.
- 44:54Speaker 4: Drink Dos Equis.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Hashtag Ask the Bench. Do you see an issue in
- 44:58Speaker 1: our punt return game? Blocking a returner just not wanting
- 45:01Speaker 1: to take a chance.
- 45:03Speaker 4: I haven't really seen an issue. I mean, you hadn't
- 45:06Speaker 4: had a lot of punts that have really been returnable earlier.
- 45:09Speaker 1: It did seem like Trey Wilson was trying to make
- 45:12Speaker 1: something happen on a return.
- 45:14Speaker 4: I mean, who saw on long.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Street was your returner for the last four punts that
- 45:18Speaker 1: you had that your quarterback. So I don't, I don't
- 45:21Speaker 1: really know what the plan is there.
- 45:24Speaker 3: Catch the ball.
- 45:25Speaker 4: That's about. Yeah. That's the plan.
- 45:27Speaker 3: Catch the ball.
- 45:27Speaker 1: And it sounds so crazy, but we've seen when else
- 45:30Speaker 1: you can't catch the ball back there.
- 45:31Speaker 2: So.
- 45:34Speaker 1: Now, I know for LSU, like when LSU's punting, they
- 45:36Speaker 1: care more about hang time than they do like a bomb.
- 45:41Speaker 4: That is clear.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Like Chadwick is somebody, he is going to have great
- 45:45Speaker 1: hang time, about 42 yards, and that's where they want
- 45:48Speaker 1: to live. So we played two teams in a row,
- 45:51Speaker 1: Ole Miss and A & M. Their number one receiver
- 45:54Speaker 1: was their punt returner.
- 45:55Speaker 3: So that tells you Lane Kiffin just wants fair catches.
- 45:58Speaker 3: He wants a fair catch, and he wants hang time
- 46:01Speaker 3: and them to fair catch it. Yeah.
- 46:03Speaker 4: Hashtag Ask the Bench.
- 46:04Speaker 1: How do y'all feel about Alabama quarterback Keelan Russell so far?
- 46:09Speaker 3: He's played well.
- 46:10Speaker 4: He's getting better each and every week.
- 46:12Speaker 3: Kind of stinks he's going to be there a while.
- 46:14Speaker 4: He is getting better.
- 46:15Speaker 3: Card game, though. Great, though. Card game. My card game
- 46:18Speaker 3: is on point with him. Got a one-on-one. All right.
- 46:21Speaker 4: We love you. We thank you. Go America.
- 46:24Speaker 6: Off the bench.
- 46:26Speaker 4: All right, go to GoTommies.com.
- 46:29Speaker 3: G-E-A-U-X.
- 46:30Speaker 4: GoTommies.com.
- 46:32Speaker 1: GoTommies.com. You'll clearly see the difference. Award-winning difference. Check out
- 46:37Speaker 1: their custom jobs right there. You can check out their
- 46:42Speaker 1: gallery of work on the homepage. You can see what
- 46:44Speaker 1: they can do for you. Now, remember, they do gutters
- 46:47Speaker 1: as well, so a lot of different things that you
- 46:48Speaker 1: can check out on the website, but... If you've been
- 46:51Speaker 1: needing something new, if you've needed a new look, if
- 46:54Speaker 1: you want a showstopper, then you need Tommy and the
- 46:56Speaker 1: team to come out.
- 46:57Speaker 4: Go to GoTommies, G-E-A-U-X, Tommies with a Y.com.
- 47:01Speaker 3: Go to GoTommies, GoTommies.com. Go check them out. If you
- 47:05Speaker 3: have a project happening, maybe you bought a house and
- 47:07Speaker 3: you got some old siding, maybe old doors, old windows,
- 47:10Speaker 3: whatever it is. We live in Louisiana. The weather can
- 47:12Speaker 3: be harsh. It can be humid. Those things have a lifespan.
- 47:16Speaker 3: They need to be changed. So give them a call.
