What is the greatest commandment? When the Pharisees question Jesus, He answers by summarizing the entire Law: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself. Upon these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.
But these words do more than tell us how we ought to live. They reveal how far we have fallen short. We have not loved God with our whole hearts, nor have we loved our neighbors as ourselves. The Law shows us our sin, but it cannot save us from…
