SPEAKER_00: Apple has taken the tech world by storm, like a sleek jet breaking through the clouds with the launch of its new processors, the M5 Ultra and M6 chips, powering the latest Mac Mini and Mac Studio models.
• 0:34
SPEAKER_00: The M5 Ultra, touted as Apple's most powerful chip ever, fuses two dual-dye M5 Max chips to create the company's first quad die chip, with an impressive up to 36 core central processing unit and up to 80 core graphics processing unit.
• 0:52
SPEAKER_00: This chip is designed to tackle hefty artificial intelligence workloads, like a seasoned pilot navigating through stormy skies, making turbulence feel like a gentle breeze.
• 1:02
SPEAKER_00: And hold on to your seatbelts.
• 1:04
SPEAKER_00: What's even more astounding is its 1.2 TB per second of unified memory bandwidth.
• 1:11
  SPEAKER_00: That's 50% more than the previous M3 Ultra.
• 1:15
SPEAKER_00: This chip is aimed squarely at professionals engaged in compute-intensive tasks, such as complex three-dimensional rendering and visual effects.
• 1:25
SPEAKER_00: However, it's not just for the pros, hobbyist artificial intelligence developers will also find the Mac Studio with the M5 Ultra quite appealing.
• 1:35
  SPEAKER_00: The only downside?
• 1:36
SPEAKER_00: It might feel like they're trying to land a 747 on a tiny runway.
• 1:41
  SPEAKER_00: Good luck with that.
• 1:42
SPEAKER_00: On the other side of the runway, we have the M6 chip, tailored for everyday users.
• 1:48
SPEAKER_00: Built on a cutting-edge 2 nanometer process, the M6 boasts a new central processing unit complex that adds two additional CPU and GPU cores, alongside a dual 16-core Neural Engine.
• 2:02
SPEAKER_00: This means a nearly 30% increase in peak GPU compute for artificial intelligence tasks compared to the M5 chip, enhancing the speed of prompt processing when using on-device large language models.
• 2:16
SPEAKER_00: It's like giving your computer a little turbo boost.
• 2:19
SPEAKER_00: Just don't forget to check your fuel levels.
• 2:22
SPEAKER_00: Buckle up, we're entering turbulent skies.
• 2:25
SPEAKER_00: With these advancements, developers can now run and fine-tune large artificial intelligence models locally on their Macs.
• 2:33
SPEAKER_00: Apple's developer tools automatically optimize performance across the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine, allowing for a seamless experience while building powerful artificial intelligence applications.
• 2:45
SPEAKER_00: Sure, Apple may have lagged behind in developing its proprietary artificial intelligence models, but this focus on on-device technology could be its golden ticket, ensuring user privacy in a world where cloud processing can be a privacy nightmare.
• 2:59
SPEAKER_00: Let's just say it's nice to keep your data closer to home, where it's safer from prying eyes.
• 3:05
SPEAKER_00: Okay, we're entering clear skies now.
• 3:08
SPEAKER_00: Feel free to remove your seatbelt and roam around a little.
• 3:11
SPEAKER_00: If you're itching to get your hands on the latest tech, Apple has made the new Mac mini devices available for pre-order, starting at$899, with shipments set to roll out after September 22.
• 3:24
SPEAKER_00: What a time to be alive in the world of tech.
• 3:27
SPEAKER_00: This leap in chip capabilities not only marks a significant advancement for Apple, but also sets the stage for the future of computing, one where personal devices can handle more complex tasks while keeping user data secure.
• 3:41
SPEAKER_00: Just remember, the only thing you should be worried about in the cockpit of your Mac is whether you remembered to hit save.
• 3:48
SPEAKER_00: I've added links to all the products mentioned in this episode down in the show notes.
• 3:52
SPEAKER_00: If you use those links, it's a small way to support the show, and it means a lot to me.
• 3:57
SPEAKER_00: Until next time, keep creating, keep adapting, and remember, the future doesn't wait for permission.
