2:21
Speaker 4: zero four nine three five five zero zero eight. There's
2:24
Speaker 4: so much going down in the area this weekend, including
2:27
Speaker 4: one of the biggest Christmas parades around in Saint Albans
2:30
Speaker 4: Saturday afternoon. Our stations will all be there. Hope to
2:32
Speaker 4: see you there as well here to talk about it.
2:35
Speaker 4: Patty Swango and Anthony Romeo. Good mornings, folks, Welcome to
2:39
Speaker 4: the show. Patty will start with.
2:40
Speaker 3: Morning, how are you.
2:41
Speaker 4: I am doing fine. And I found out, Patty, that
2:45
Speaker 4: you and I have something in common. You are your
2:48
Speaker 4: family is originally from Logan.
2:50
Speaker 3: Yes, sir, they are.
2:51
Speaker 4: But you escaped right.
2:53
Speaker 3: I think my dad and mother escaped before I was born.
2:56
Speaker 4: Okay, all right, all right, we were talking about that
2:58
Speaker 4: in the green room. And and Anthony, you know when
3:02
Speaker 4: Ron Hughes, the Colonel set up the interview with us,
3:06
Speaker 4: he said it was Tony. You went by Tony, and
3:08
Speaker 4: I had every Tony Romo reference, ye being a cowboy fan,
3:13
Speaker 4: every Tony Romo reference that I could. And then I
3:16
Speaker 4: come in you say you prefer Anthony. So well there
3:18
Speaker 4: you go.
3:19
Speaker 6: I'm sorry.
3:20
Speaker 4: Right, that's all good. It's all good. So let's talk
3:22
Speaker 4: about the parade, Patty or Anthony, the one of you
3:25
Speaker 4: want to just step in and give us all the
3:26
Speaker 4: details and then we'll break it down from there.
3:28
Speaker 3: All right.
3:28
Speaker 7: The parade is Saturday, three pm. Lineup is two o'clock.
3:34
Speaker 7: One most important thing, we are not going down Main Street. Okay,
3:39
Speaker 7: we have changed the rat Oh well, so if you
3:43
Speaker 7: go to Main Street to watch the parade, it's not
3:46
Speaker 7: coming this yeason.
3:47
Speaker 4: Well, hopefully you'll be able to look over and see
3:49
Speaker 4: this line of yeah, and.
3:51
Speaker 7: We are promoting it, and I have someone who's doing
3:55
Speaker 7: Facebook and letting everyone know. Now if they read it,
3:57
Speaker 7: I don't know, but that's that's the important thing.
4:00
Speaker 4: Well, hopefully you know people kind of and I've driven
4:03
Speaker 4: enough parades in my life to know that people you're
4:05
Speaker 4: you just follow the people in front of you. So
4:07
Speaker 4: hopefully nobody decides to go rogue and go down that
4:10
Speaker 4: way anyway. Why why the change? Was there a reason?
4:14
Speaker 7: The chamber had an idea and we want to see
4:16
Speaker 7: if it'll work to take care of some of the.
4:22
Speaker 3: Lax and spaces in between individuals.
4:24
Speaker 8: Yeah, there were several lulls in the periods of past
4:27
Speaker 8: that we're trying to solve. Okay, And by moving it
4:30
Speaker 8: all the way down sixth Avenue, that's going up the
4:33
Speaker 8: hill and down Main Street, you know, not doing that
4:35
Speaker 8: will solve those laws, okay.
4:36
Speaker 4: Yeah, and that that is an issue in parades sometimes,
4:40
Speaker 4: and we keep it moving, keep it moving because people
4:43
Speaker 4: want to pose for pictures and the whole deal. And
4:45
Speaker 4: that's understandable.
4:46
Speaker 3: That's that's true.
4:47
Speaker 7: And then we have a radio station in St. Albans
4:51
Speaker 7: and he likes to interview the individuals as they go
4:54
Speaker 7: by his station there.
4:56
Speaker 3: So it does.
4:58
Speaker 4: Good old buzz browning.
4:59
Speaker 7: Yeah, yes, I'm supposed to say hello to you. But
5:03
Speaker 7: and then they have to climb that hill and that's
5:05
Speaker 7: and when you're over thirty nine, it's hard to do.
5:08
Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, how would you know about being over thirty nine?
5:10
Speaker 3: That's exactly right.
5:12
Speaker 4: Yeah, you wouldn't know anything about that or we're talking
5:14
Speaker 4: about the Saint August Christmas Parade. So if you're in
5:17
Speaker 4: the parade lineup, is it what time?
5:19
Speaker 3: The line you start at two o'clock.
5:21
Speaker 4: Yeah, And let me tell you, if you've never been
5:23
Speaker 4: in the parade before, I would urge you to one
5:25
Speaker 4: hundred percent plan on being there at two because it's
5:28
Speaker 4: one of the more interesting parades in the way. And
5:31
Speaker 4: it's not a bad thing, guys, it's just interesting the
5:34
Speaker 4: way it is because when you're driving like a float
5:38
Speaker 4: or we're driving station vehicles and we're driving up through there,
5:41
Speaker 4: and it's like you just got to keep going all
5:43
Speaker 4: the way to the end through this residential neighborhood to
5:45
Speaker 4: get where you need to be to then get back
5:47
Speaker 4: in line again. Yeah, and so allow yourself a little
5:51
Speaker 4: extra time.
5:51
Speaker 2: Yeah.
5:51
Speaker 8: We encourage folks to enter into the parade lineup at
5:54
Speaker 8: Walnut and Washington in Saint Albans, So that puts you
5:57
Speaker 8: right in the proper lineup for the parade, so versus
6:01
Speaker 8: trying to cut in at Park Street and down the Yeah.
6:03
Speaker 4: So, and people that have been in that parade and
6:05
Speaker 4: know that. But however, there's always new people that don't
6:08
Speaker 4: prade for the first time. Approximately, just go back the
6:11
Speaker 4: last couple of years, how many how many entries have
6:14
Speaker 4: you had in the parade?
6:16
Speaker 3: Roughly close to eighty okay, sometimes.
6:18
Speaker 4: More, looking about the same for this year.
6:21
Speaker 7: Yes, sir, And we do have a lot of people
6:22
Speaker 7: who do just show up. They don't know their schedule.
6:27
Speaker 7: There's some ball tournaments going on and people don't know
6:30
Speaker 7: if they can come because to video who wins the game.
6:33
Speaker 7: So that's that's okay. If somebody wants to be in
6:36
Speaker 7: the parade, we're going to let them be there.
6:38
Speaker 4: Okay. But if they but it probably would be and
6:41
Speaker 4: I completely understand what you're saying, Patty, but it probably
6:43
Speaker 4: would be better if people do know that they let
6:45
Speaker 4: you know.
6:46
Speaker 3: They're coming, right, It does help, Yes, that does.
6:49
Speaker 4: And how do they do that? Where do they need to?
6:51
Speaker 3: You go to the Saint Elvan's website.
6:54
Speaker 4: It is am I sensing a joke here, but you
6:56
Speaker 4: know something.
6:57
Speaker 3: That's that's just a private.
7:00
Speaker 4: Well we want to hear.
7:01
Speaker 8: I'm always on edge when she gives out the website. Okay,
7:04
Speaker 8: well I just find she has it down.
7:06
Speaker 6: Pat Now.
7:08
Speaker 4: Right here we go, no pressure, Patty.
7:11
Speaker 3: That's right.
7:11
Speaker 7: It is Saint Albans w v dot com forward slash
7:20
Speaker 7: Christmas and that will tell you everything that's going on
7:23
Speaker 7: and where you can register various events.
7:26
Speaker 4: I want to see you do that three more times.
7:27
Speaker 3: I can do that.
7:28
Speaker 4: I know you can. I know you're talking about this.
7:30
Speaker 3: He's worried. I can see them.
7:32
Speaker 4: He was sitting there like giving you the eye there.
7:34
Speaker 4: But you nailed it. You nailed it purposely did. And
7:37
Speaker 4: one of the great things I like about these parades
7:40
Speaker 4: like this is, of course everybody loves the parade, and
7:42
Speaker 4: they love Santa, and they love the bands and all
7:44
Speaker 4: the stuff that comes with it. But it also puts
7:46
Speaker 4: a spotlight on the communities as well, and this one
7:49
Speaker 4: because every parade is different as far as the different
7:51
Speaker 4: routes or whatever. As you said, now you're not going
7:53
Speaker 4: down Old Maine this year, but you are, but you're
7:56
Speaker 4: kind of going around it. But there's a lot of
7:58
Speaker 4: exciting things going on down there that people while they're
8:01
Speaker 4: in town. We hope people don't just show up for
8:03
Speaker 4: the parade and go home. We'd like for them to
8:05
Speaker 4: visit some of the shops and stuff down there.
8:06
Speaker 8: There's I mean, you would be amazed at how the
8:08
Speaker 8: uniqueness in our shops and restaurants in Saint Albans. You
8:12
Speaker 8: got some good ones, and you know, it's a great
8:14
Speaker 8: opportunity to you know, explore those shops and restaurants as
8:18
Speaker 8: you're there for the parade, both this weekend as far
8:21
Speaker 8: as starting out Friday even into Saturday.
8:23
Speaker 6: So you know, we welcome that. We welcome you to.
8:25
Speaker 8: Explore our shops and restaurants and experience St. Albans this weekend,
8:29
Speaker 8: all right, And.
8:30
Speaker 4: Again it's I mean, you got so many and I
8:33
Speaker 4: frequently have the Mayor on, I have other people from
8:35
Speaker 4: Saying Albans from time to time. It's so many. As
8:38
Speaker 4: you said, it's a good way to put in Anthony
8:40
Speaker 4: and some really really nice unique shops down there and
8:43
Speaker 4: great places to eat. I mean, it's always been a
8:46
Speaker 4: tradition in years past that the folks from the radio
8:50
Speaker 4: station always met at the cafe for lunch ahead of time.
8:54
Speaker 4: But that's not your thing. You got shuckers, you got
8:56
Speaker 4: the Combee ship, got all these great things down there,
8:58
Speaker 4: and and a lot of great shots. We want to
9:00
Speaker 4: encourage people to not not just come for the parade,
9:04
Speaker 4: but kind of hang around a little bit as well.
9:05
Speaker 4: Now in years past, Saint Albans has always had their
9:08
Speaker 4: parade and then Nitro had their parade afterwards. But that's
9:11
Speaker 4: not the case this year because Nitro's gonna be playing
9:14
Speaker 4: for the Football Championship. We'll have more than that coming
9:16
Speaker 4: up a little bit later on. So they have actually
9:18
Speaker 4: moved their parade to the following week And I say
9:21
Speaker 4: that because I know there's always a rivalry between the towns,
9:24
Speaker 4: but you guys work together on a lot of things
9:26
Speaker 4: as well, and in years past you had to You
9:29
Speaker 4: did the Saint Albans parade and everybody had to pack
9:31
Speaker 4: up to go across and get ready for the Nitro parade.
9:33
Speaker 4: But the Nitro parade is not happening this weekend. It'll
9:36
Speaker 4: be the following weekend.
9:37
Speaker 3: That's right. Be sure they understand Nitro's not happening.
9:39
Speaker 4: Nitro's not happening. I do believe South Charleston is happening.
9:42
Speaker 3: And they're twelve o'clock.
9:43
Speaker 4: Yeah, and so you got plenty of time to do.
9:46
Speaker 7: Both three hours between and that gives you plenty of
9:49
Speaker 7: time to participate and then pack up, grab a bike
9:53
Speaker 7: to eat and then come to Saint Albans.
9:55
Speaker 3: And we do have several that do that.
9:57
Speaker 4: Yeah, and the weather actually looks pretty good for Sayaturday,
10:00
Speaker 4: I mean it's it's there's no no, no snow. I
10:03
Speaker 4: mean a little snow is okay. You just don't want
10:04
Speaker 4: to snow out, you know. But but but there's no
10:08
Speaker 4: there's the Saturday is actually going to be the nicest
10:10
Speaker 4: day we've had in a long time.
10:12
Speaker 3: It's not going to rain on our parade.
10:13
Speaker 4: No, no, has it has your parade ever in the
10:16
Speaker 4: years it's been gone on, guys, has it ever been.
10:18
Speaker 3: Postponed for one that I know of?
10:20
Speaker 4: What year was that? Approximately?
10:21
Speaker 3: You remember when in the past, seven or eight?
10:24
Speaker 4: Okay, but not this one.
10:27
Speaker 3: It already going to rain on the parade, all right.
10:31
Speaker 4: All right, give us all the details again before we
10:33
Speaker 4: let you go. The lineup and where they need to
10:34
Speaker 4: be and whatever.
10:35
Speaker 7: Okay, the lineup starts at two o'clock. Come to Hansford
10:42
Speaker 7: Center and you come down the corner of Walnut Street
10:45
Speaker 7: and Washington Avenue like you're going to go downtown and
10:50
Speaker 7: you were going in the proper direction. And the parade
10:54
Speaker 7: itself starts at three o'clock. And once it starts, if
10:58
Speaker 7: you if you're late running and you can get in
11:01
Speaker 7: white before Santa Claus.
11:02
Speaker 3: We will not turn anyone away.
11:04
Speaker 4: All right, sounds good, guys. We appreciate you taking down
11:06
Speaker 4: to be here.
11:06
Speaker 7: Go ahead and okay, and and if you have any
11:09
Speaker 7: questions you can contact us. Check us out on our website.
11:13
Speaker 7: It is Saint Albans WV dot com forward slash Christmas.
11:22
Speaker 4: She did it two times in a row, Patty. You're
11:26
Speaker 4: you're a lady if the parade like, how long have
11:28
Speaker 4: you been involved in in the parade, Patty?
11:30
Speaker 7: The first parade I did was when we had the
11:33
Speaker 7: all class reunion in two thousand, okay. And we started
11:38
Speaker 7: on at the high school and went downtown all the
11:41
Speaker 7: way down Canola Terrace, down Park Street, down Sixth Avenue,
11:45
Speaker 7: and ended on Main Street.
11:47
Speaker 3: Took us a while to get there.
11:49
Speaker 7: They were on they were on Main Street, and we
11:51
Speaker 7: were not off of the high school parking lot.
11:54
Speaker 4: Okay.
11:55
Speaker 7: But there was a lot of old people there. They
11:57
Speaker 7: came to see, to ride in the parade and so forth.
12:00
Speaker 7: But I've been doing parades twelve for fifteen years, been
12:03
Speaker 7: involved with him.
12:04
Speaker 6: She has her own parade corner. Did you know that day?
12:06
Speaker 8: No to tell me about that, Anthony so so last
12:09
Speaker 8: sometime this past year, in twenty twenty five, we decided
12:12
Speaker 8: to dedicate where the parade lineup, you know lineup takes
12:16
Speaker 8: place as the Parade Lady Corner. So anytime you go
12:20
Speaker 8: around Saint Francis and Park Street, there's actually a sign
12:23
Speaker 8: that says, you know, Parade Lady Corner. Okay, dedicated to
12:25
Speaker 8: Patty Swingo.
12:26
Speaker 4: Okay, Well that's pretty cool.
12:28
Speaker 3: It was very very nice of it.
12:30
Speaker 6: I had no clue it's gonna happen.
12:31
Speaker 4: I'll look for that on Saturdays. I said, all of
12:33
Speaker 4: our stations are going to be there. I'll be there
12:34
Speaker 4: with that guy, Steve Animal from from the Mountain. So
12:38
Speaker 4: we'll be there, and I think all our other stations
12:40
Speaker 4: is going to be there as well. We're looking forward
12:41
Speaker 4: to it. But it's not going down Old Main this year. Correct,
12:43
Speaker 4: That is correct, it's not going down Old Maine. All right, guys,
12:46
Speaker 4: appreciate you both being here. Thanks a Lott Day. It

Speaker 4: want to welcome in Sean Hartman from a trojan landing.
15:37
Speaker 4: How you doing, my friend?
15:38
Speaker 12: Good morning, sir, how are you?
15:39
Speaker 4: I am doing fine. We kind of thought that maybe
15:42
Speaker 4: we'd be joined by Steve Animal of this morning, but
15:45
Speaker 4: I don't know where Animal is. But that's not a
15:47
Speaker 4: bad thing, because when he comes in here, things tend
15:50
Speaker 4: to get broken and the place has got a really
15:52
Speaker 4: weird smell when he leaves.
15:53
Speaker 12: He's a he is a wild animal.
15:55
Speaker 4: He is he is he is indeed all right, so
15:58
Speaker 4: we've had this contest uh with with you guys at
16:02
Speaker 4: Trojan Landing and our sister station of which Animal resides
16:05
Speaker 4: every morning ninety eight to seven a Mountain wild a
16:07
Speaker 4: wonderful classic rock where we wanted. It was a high
16:10
Speaker 4: octane holiday, I think is what we call it, right correct,
16:13
Speaker 4: Uh with the with Steve Animal and the good folks
16:15
Speaker 4: at Trojan land we've been signing people up uh to
16:18
Speaker 4: win one of the machines that's available. Talk about the
16:23
Speaker 4: contest and how you came up with us.
16:25
Speaker 12: So you know, we partnered with you guys back in
16:28
Speaker 12: the summer to give away a motorcycle and that was
16:31
Speaker 12: a big event. So we gave away a role in
16:33
Speaker 12: field and it was one of the really legitly one
16:40
Speaker 12: of the best selling backs in the country. Most role
16:42
Speaker 12: and field dealers cannot keep these in stock. And uh
16:45
Speaker 12: it was the four fifty Himalayan. And we get getting
16:50
Speaker 12: on Christmas and everything, and we just picked these units
16:54
Speaker 12: up here probably in the summer, and I was like,
16:58
Speaker 12: why don't we give one of these away a kid like,
17:01
Speaker 12: you know, let's make somebody's Christmas. And so we got
17:05
Speaker 12: with h. We got with you guys. You're you know,
17:08
Speaker 12: the management here and started coming up with a plan,
17:11
Speaker 12: and so we're giving away anything for ten year olds
17:14
Speaker 12: and less. So we got two sets of full wheelers
17:17
Speaker 12: ATVs that you can choose from, or all four dirt bikes,
17:22
Speaker 12: and so we just want to help make somebody's Christmas
17:24
Speaker 12: this year.
17:25
Speaker 4: And you've been Chris, Animal's been registering people on the air,
17:28
Speaker 4: and then you've also been registering people in store. What's
17:31
Speaker 4: the response been. I mean, I know what because you
17:34
Speaker 4: know when I when I talk to Animal and I
17:35
Speaker 4: listened to him on against my better judgment, when I
17:38
Speaker 4: listen to him in the morning, I hear him talking
17:40
Speaker 4: about it. But the response I know on the phone
17:42
Speaker 4: lines has been really good. What's the response been like
17:44
Speaker 4: in store?
17:45
Speaker 12: Very well. I think that I think we'll have more
17:50
Speaker 12: people than like my staff is anticipating, because daily people
17:56
Speaker 12: are stopping in multiple times a day to sign up,
17:58
Speaker 12: and then even yesterday, even though it's closed, we still
18:02
Speaker 12: have more people stopping in. I don't know if we'll
18:04
Speaker 12: have quite the three hundred people that are coming that
18:10
Speaker 12: came out for the four fifty, but the uh I
18:13
Speaker 12: think will be I think we'll be surprised there. I
18:16
Speaker 12: think a lot of people are looking for that good
18:18
Speaker 12: Christmas gill.
18:18
Speaker 4: Okay, and now we do want to tell people that
18:21
Speaker 4: an animal has has made an appearance. Now everything come out,
18:24
Speaker 4: okay in there, because I know where you were. Uh
18:29
Speaker 4: my gosh, that's Steve Animal who knows how to make
18:32
Speaker 4: an appearance an entry. Thank you for getting the memo
18:35
Speaker 4: being here on time.
18:36
Speaker 12: It's I have my phone. No what are you sure?
18:41
Speaker 4: No, no, no, I mean no, no, no, nine twenty yeah, no,
18:48
Speaker 4: nine thirty.
18:51
Speaker 12: So you're just gonna split the days. Okay, so you're
18:53
Speaker 12: five minutes earlier I said.
18:55
Speaker 4: I think I said nine thirty ish is what I said.
18:58
Speaker 4: But anyway, we're here. We talking about the contest. Sean
19:01
Speaker 4: Harbon here is here from a from Trojan Land. Yes,
19:03
Speaker 4: we'll be hanging out together. But Friday, oh Saturday. You
19:09
Speaker 4: got the day wrong, man.
19:10
Speaker 12: I'm I think I'm going to be on air with
19:12
Speaker 12: you tomorrow, so we'll be hanging to take over.
19:14
Speaker 4: Well, you're just coming to take over this thing, all right.
19:16
Speaker 4: So we were talking about regising people, but but you
19:19
Speaker 4: you've been regising people on air, You been registering people,
19:22
Speaker 4: just like with the last contest. You do have to
19:24
Speaker 4: be present to win.
19:24
Speaker 12: You did, and so.
19:26
Speaker 4: I would get there. You guys got a great, great
19:28
Speaker 4: big space and give us the address.
19:30
Speaker 12: Fourteen fourteen the Corkor Avenue south West.
19:32
Speaker 4: All right, so you got a big space. However, you
19:34
Speaker 4: probably want to get there, you know a little bit early, yeah,
19:38
Speaker 4: because you know, to get in and get a good
19:39
Speaker 4: place registered. And we are going to allow people to register,
19:42
Speaker 4: as I said that day as well, right by.
19:45
Speaker 13: The Patrick Street bridge. I talked to my friends over tutors.
19:48
Speaker 13: I think they're going to hook us up with some
19:49
Speaker 13: biscuits and and stuff for breakfast too on Saturday morning.
19:53
Speaker 13: So I'll swing by and get that and yeah, we
19:56
Speaker 13: we won't have a great time, and I have I'll
19:59
Speaker 13: have another quality fire I'll get on the air tomorrow morning.
20:01
Speaker 12: Okay, man, and then two once you know, and we
20:04
Speaker 12: give it away to one. But you know, for those
20:06
Speaker 12: who don't win, you know, we we have plenty available
20:10
Speaker 12: to purchase even if you don't win. So you know,
20:12
Speaker 12: we making sure everybody's ready to go.
20:15
Speaker 5: All right.
20:15
Speaker 4: So you draw one name out, okay, and that person
20:18
Speaker 4: the winner. How does it work for them? Congratulations John Smith,
20:21
Speaker 4: You're the winner. Then what Steve Animal if you want.
20:24
Speaker 12: Steve, congratulations. So they they'll pick out what unit they
20:29
Speaker 12: want out of those basically six qualifying units, the two
20:33
Speaker 12: ATVs and the four dirt bikes, and then they pick
20:36
Speaker 12: out the color they want and we'll build it, get
20:39
Speaker 12: it ready for him, and it's theirs.
20:40
Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah, we pay all the stuff when you say
20:43
Speaker 4: you build it.
20:44
Speaker 12: Yeah, because it's the most of them, because we have
20:46
Speaker 12: over seventy of them in stock right now of the Donagos.
20:50
Speaker 12: So depending on what color they want, it might not
20:54
Speaker 12: be built yet, so we'll have to build it and
20:56
Speaker 12: get it ready for him.
20:57
Speaker 4: Well I was going to ask you, whoever the winter is,
21:00
Speaker 4: will will it be done in time for Christmas?
21:03
Speaker 12: Oh yeah yeah, yeah. It only takes us an hour
21:07
Speaker 12: get everything. Yeah, so they'll be able to take it
21:09
Speaker 12: that day. Yeah yeah, the likely yeah, more likely.
21:11
Speaker 4: And talk about the brands again, because that's one of
21:13
Speaker 4: the things that's interesting to me with Trojan Landing when
21:15
Speaker 4: we gave away the bike last summer, is that you
21:17
Speaker 4: have some brands that are high quality brands, but many
21:19
Speaker 4: of them may may not be as well known in
21:23
Speaker 4: this area. But there's some of the top names out there.
21:25
Speaker 12: Yeah, So I mean Obviously, our biggest brand on the
21:28
Speaker 12: power sports side is Suzuki, so we do you know,
21:31
Speaker 12: we're really proud of them and everything. But we do
21:36
Speaker 12: have seventeen brands we carry now, so I mean it's
21:39
Speaker 12: a lot of stuff. The biggest thing going right now
21:42
Speaker 12: that people don't know about is our electric brand because
21:45
Speaker 12: the Emoto stuff is absolutely flying out of the store
21:49
Speaker 12: for those who do know. But it's Zero, which is
21:52
Speaker 12: an American based company, and then Raar, which is another
21:56
Speaker 12: American based company. So we have been really selling those
22:01
Speaker 12: Emotos because you know, you're not making the old lady
22:04
Speaker 12: mad in the neighborhood when you're out there on your
22:06
Speaker 12: bike now with that two stroke, you know that's gone.
22:09
Speaker 12: You're out there silent, and so a lot of kids
22:13
Speaker 12: are happy sneak out. But yeah, Rule Infield Bonelli. I mean,
22:18
Speaker 12: those are two of the three oldest brands in the
22:20
Speaker 12: world roll in Fields, older than the the HD place.
22:26
Speaker 12: So I've been around since nineteen oh one. This is
22:29
Speaker 12: one hundred and twenty five years of rural infield and
22:32
Speaker 12: you know, most of us their own Rule in Fields
22:34
Speaker 12: and they're they're really good products. I mean, they really are.
22:38
Speaker 12: For the money, you just can't beat it. You know,
22:40
Speaker 12: my birthday's coming up Thursday.
22:41
Speaker 4: If you'd like to hook a brother up. Yeah, you
22:43
Speaker 4: do have a birthday coming up next Thursday. Yeah, okay, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday.
22:48
Speaker 4: Just last year you had a birthday.
22:51
Speaker 12: Man, you're brilliant.
22:52
Speaker 4: It's the day. It is brought to you. Admired by
22:56

23:01
Speaker 4: check have latest episodes at wv metronews dot com under
23:04
Speaker 4: the podcast. Man, you talked to Sean Harman from a
23:07
Speaker 4: Trojan landing. And we do want to tell people as
23:10
Speaker 4: as well that when you come in to your place,
23:14
Speaker 4: there's a whole lot of Chris. I mean, we want
23:16
Speaker 4: people to purchase things for Christmas. However, if it's if
23:19
Speaker 4: it's not a machine that they want to purchase, you've
23:20
Speaker 4: got a lot of other you know, things they can
23:22
Speaker 4: get up parel and stuff.
23:23
Speaker 12: Talking about Yes, yeah, so we have right now, like
23:26
Speaker 12: even for the for the kids, Like if you're looking
23:28
Speaker 12: for this to Nago and you're doing that there we
23:31
Speaker 12: have one hundred and sixty dollars kids that come with
23:34
Speaker 12: chest protectors are elbow protectors, knee protectors, a neck pad.
23:39
Speaker 12: They generally run you about two hundred and seventy two
23:41
Speaker 12: hundred and eighty bucks. I know, yeah, helmets, I mean, gloves, shirts,
23:47
Speaker 12: We got all kinds of stuff and it's get outfitted
23:50
Speaker 12: pretty serious. The only thing we don't have yet is
23:52
Speaker 12: the kids' boots because that's just so hard to size.
23:56
Speaker 13: Everybody have a pair of moon boots from nineteen seventy eight.
23:59
Speaker 13: My I could donate those.
24:02
Speaker 4: It sounds like some of the random Craft prize clause
24:04
Speaker 4: that they do. So we want to, you know, just
24:08
Speaker 4: urge everybody to come on out there. And as I said,
24:10
Speaker 4: and I was talking to the folks earlier about the
24:11
Speaker 4: Saint August Christmas Parade, the weather is actually going to
24:13
Speaker 4: be pretty good on Saturday. It's gonna be cold, but
24:15
Speaker 4: I mean it's December, yeah, but we're not gonna be
24:18
Speaker 4: dealing on Saturday with snow or rain or anything like that.
24:20
Speaker 4: It looks like right now. So it's gonna be a
24:22
Speaker 4: good day to come on out and and uh, and
24:24
Speaker 4: it's always fun when we do these events because again
24:27
Speaker 4: it's kind of an all hands on deck. We're all
24:29
Speaker 4: going to be there and we're looking forward to it.
24:31
Speaker 4: It's a good time.
24:32
Speaker 12: We usually participate in the Saint Albans Christmas Parade, but
24:35
Speaker 12: when the scheduling conflicts and everything started happening and this
24:39
Speaker 12: day came up. We're still going to be in the
24:41
Speaker 12: South Charleston Christmas Parade this weekend. We just can't do
24:44
Speaker 12: the Saint Albans once too, so unfortunately.
24:47
Speaker 4: Well, and you have you know, the thing about it
24:49
Speaker 4: is is that you have these parades, and you know
24:52
Speaker 4: it's South Charleston and most of our stations are going
24:55
Speaker 4: to be in that one. We won't be because we'll
24:57
Speaker 4: be hanging out with you. But after we up here
25:00
Speaker 4: then we're going to go to the St. Albans Christmas Brey.
25:02
Speaker 4: Do you want to remind people again, because Joe Stevens
25:04
Speaker 4: asked me to remind them this that the Nitro Christmas
25:06
Speaker 4: Bread is not going to be this week because Nitro's
25:08
Speaker 4: playing for a state championship, so they've moved there. They
25:11
Speaker 4: moved theirs to next week.
25:13
Speaker 12: I like that I can actually visit these state championship
25:16
Speaker 12: games now.
25:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, and now you can do it.
25:19
Speaker 14: Yeah.
25:19
Speaker 4: Well, we'll talk about that coming up a little bit
25:20
Speaker 4: later on as well. All right, so again you'll you're
25:24
Speaker 4: gonna register Steve one more person on the air tomorrow
25:27
Speaker 4: on ninety eight seven A.
25:28
Speaker 13: Mounth Yes, I am one one final chance and then
25:31
Speaker 13: I do understand between eleven and noon we will get
25:35
Speaker 13: maybe two more qualifiers from those that show up, and
25:38
Speaker 13: then that'll be it.
25:39
Speaker 12: From a at Saturday at our place.
25:42
Speaker 4: Yes, okay, yeah, yeah, so be there be there is
25:46
Speaker 4: Heather going to be doing any cooking.
25:48
Speaker 12: No, no, no cooking. She is she shut it down.
25:53
Speaker 12: She locked her for the season. Season.
25:56
Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, guys, it's all having a trojan landing again.
26:00
Speaker 4: Eleven o'clock is when we'll start get there a little
26:03
Speaker 4: bit early, and we have have we notified that the
26:06
Speaker 4: finalist that we have. How does that work? Thank god
26:08
Speaker 4: we have Tracy at the front.
26:09
Speaker 13: Yes, she's been calling, texting and just getting i know,
26:13
Speaker 13: sending out some emails too. So looking like we should
26:16
Speaker 13: have a good crowd.
26:17
Speaker 12: She gasped at me when I walked in again. She
26:19
Speaker 12: was just like, you're the.
26:21
Speaker 4: One that calls it on this, You're you're the one
26:23
Speaker 4: causing me grief.
26:24
Speaker 12: I was like, that's that's Sean's fault.
26:27
Speaker 4: Yeah, blame Sean sales weasel. He's not here right now,
26:32
Speaker 4: all right, Uh so Sean, So Sean Hardener will see
26:35
Speaker 4: you on Saturday, Trojan Landymurrie, give.
26:38
Speaker 12: Us the address again, fourteen fourteen mccorkyl Avenue Southwest and.
26:41
Speaker 4: Give me give us your hours or normal hours, just
26:43
Speaker 4: on us.
26:44
Speaker 12: So we'll be there nine to five on Saturday, but
26:45
Speaker 12: I mean throughout the Christmas season nine to five every Saturday.
26:49
Speaker 12: It's eight to six basically Tuesday through Friday. But we
26:54
Speaker 12: are going to be open. December to twenty third is
26:58
Speaker 12: our last day open before the Christmas season. So if
27:01
Speaker 12: you're looking for any like you said, apperil gifts or
27:04
Speaker 12: last minute purchases.
27:07
Speaker 4: Often so if anybody's gonna come in on Christmas even
27:09
Speaker 4: get that last the truly last minute gift, probably not
27:11
Speaker 4: gonna happen.
27:12
Speaker 12: Yeah, So yeah, that would be twenty third to be
27:14
Speaker 12: our last day twentieth and then the twenty third that
27:17
Speaker 12: Saturday and that Tuesday.
27:18
Speaker 4: So do you uh you guys, after Christmas, do you
27:20
Speaker 4: do any kind of like you're in sales events or
27:22
Speaker 4: anything like that.
27:23
Speaker 12: Depends on how desperate for money we are.
27:26
Speaker 4: You know, I love, I love honestly it seems I
27:29
Speaker 4: think you wanted to say something before. Where I get you.
27:31

27:45
Speaker 12: and those floaty things makes perfect stocking stuffers. We got
27:50

Speaker 4: Comeback Special, aired on NBC, captured forty two percent of
34:18
Speaker 4: a total television audience, became the highest rated program of
34:21
Speaker 4: the year and the second. Sixty nine years ago today,
34:24
Speaker 4: an im protue Jam session took place at Sun Studio,
34:28
Speaker 4: Memphis with legends Elvis, Johnny Cashjerry Lewis, Carl Perkins. They
34:32
Speaker 4: did gospel songs. It was later called the Million Dollar
34:35
Speaker 4: Core Tents, So appreciate it. You know, I am a
34:39
Speaker 4: big Elvis fan, especially that sixty eight Comeback special. That
34:41

Speaker 4: adopt me please pet of the week. Second, I gotta
39:08
Speaker 4: tell you a quick story before I get into something
39:10

39:14
Speaker 4: I get a text to the text line that my
39:17
Speaker 4: good friend Crewton is in the building. Now, if you
39:19
Speaker 4: were a longtime listener of this show few two three
39:22

39:25
Speaker 4: We had a dog named Crewton, and these folks, they're
39:29
Speaker 4: from the Saint Albans area. They went and they they
39:31
Speaker 4: got the dog is already named Creuton, and he knew
39:33
Speaker 4: his name, so that we don't know where the name
39:35
Speaker 4: came from. He didn't speak up one way or the
39:37
Speaker 4: other as to where the name came from. He didn't
39:39
Speaker 4: He wasn't telling the story. But they adopted Crewton.
39:43
Speaker 12: Uh.
39:44
Speaker 4: Crewton has become a social media phenomenon on Instagram chronicles
39:49
Speaker 4: of Creuton. And they brought Crewton to see me. They
39:53
Speaker 4: dropped off some delicious popcorn as well. Uh So yeah,
39:57
Speaker 4: I got really excited earlier in the week when I
39:59
Speaker 4: found out that my good bye d Crewton was in
40:01
Speaker 4: the building. So I pretty much stopped what I was
40:02

41:12
Speaker 4: Something on my mind this morning. The world of social
41:17
Speaker 4: media always needs to be something to be outraged about,
41:25
Speaker 4: and the outrage du jour over the last twenty four
41:29
Speaker 4: hours or so here in our area has to do
41:33
Speaker 4: with a new restaurant opening up in Charleston. Ordinarily, this
41:39
Speaker 4: would be good news, right, I mean, a new place
41:44
Speaker 4: to eat in an already great restaurant scene here in
41:47
Speaker 4: the capital city. But no, our social media justice team
41:55
Speaker 4: have taken it upon themselves to try to take a
41:57
Speaker 4: big giant crap on this restaurant, the owners and the
42:02
Speaker 4: people who work there and everybody included, okay, because they
42:06
Speaker 4: don't like their politics. You heard that right. It's a
42:13
Speaker 4: I don't think it started out as an organized social
42:15
Speaker 4: media outrage, but it kind of went to that because
42:18
Speaker 4: they don't like the owner's politics. And listen, I get
42:24
Speaker 4: not patronizing the place because the owners don't line up
42:27
Speaker 4: with you politically. And now I just like, actually, I
42:29
Speaker 4: don't get it, Okay, but that's just me. What I
42:33
Speaker 4: do have a problem with, though, are these social media
42:38
Speaker 4: warriors trying to bring harm and bring down a business
42:43
Speaker 4: by telling others that you shouldn't dine there either. To them,
42:50
Speaker 4: I would say, get a life, people. I'm sorry. This
42:53
Speaker 4: is just my opinion, not the opinions. That's why we
42:55
Speaker 4: run the disclaimer at to beginning of the show. The
42:57
Speaker 4: using opinions do not necessarily represent those same for advertisers.
43:01
Speaker 4: I have zero tolerance for this. If you don't want
43:04
Speaker 4: to go there, fine, don't go. But why in the
43:08
Speaker 4: world would you want to try to destroy a business
43:14
Speaker 4: and their employees all because you don't like the politics
43:19
Speaker 4: of the owners. This is a business offering something unique
43:24
Speaker 4: in Charleston that wasn't there. Wasn't there talking about Cajun food, okay,
43:32
Speaker 4: and employing people. But because somebody didn't like the politics.
43:40
Speaker 4: Anytime there was a post, you know, there's these different
43:42
Speaker 4: restaurant review pages and whatever, people were saying, this place
43:50
Speaker 4: is filled with hate, space is filled with bigotry and
43:52
Speaker 4: so on and so forth. If you don't like that
43:55
Speaker 4: for yourself, then fine that you're more compass one hundred
43:58
Speaker 4: percent don't go there. But Why why are you urging
44:00
Speaker 4: other people not to go and basically putting people out
44:02
Speaker 4: of work? And I don't I doubt I've not been
44:07
Speaker 4: to the restaurant yet. I doubt very seriously if you
44:10
Speaker 4: go in there that you are going to be served
44:12
Speaker 4: a healthy dose of right wing propaganda, you know, next
44:15
Speaker 4: to your food. It's just insane to me. And talks
44:20
Speaker 4: of harassing these people, and make no mistake about it,
44:23
Speaker 4: it's out and out harassment from people that are just
44:27
Speaker 4: trying to make a living. And it reminds me, just
44:33
Speaker 4: to show you where my mind is on this. It
44:35
Speaker 4: reminds me. But twenty years or so ago, in my
44:38
Speaker 4: hometown of Logan, there was someone that wanted to open
44:42
Speaker 4: up an adult bookstore and the local churches and others
44:48
Speaker 4: lost their minds over it. And it was a pretty
44:51
Speaker 4: big deal back then, in the days before social media,
44:54
Speaker 4: or at least social media being how we know it now.
44:57
Speaker 4: There were protests and so on and so forth. I
45:00
Speaker 4: was doing you know, the local morning show there and
45:02
Speaker 4: we had a segment where we took phone calls. I
45:04
Speaker 4: simply said, then if you don't like it, don't go.
45:08
Speaker 4: Why why should you keep other people from going? And
45:12
Speaker 4: you know in Charleston, in other areas, lots of people
45:14
Speaker 4: get upset about pride activities. Again, I say it, if
45:17
Speaker 4: you don't like it, don't go. It's not hard. If
45:22
Speaker 4: this new place's owners, their political beliefs don't line up
45:26
Speaker 4: with yours, then simply don't go. I mean, it's it's
45:31
Speaker 4: not hard, But I just don't know where you think
45:35
Speaker 4: it's your place to tell people you shouldn't go because
45:39
Speaker 4: they believe this. They'll find that out on their own.
45:42

Speaker 4: I called this show in a while. He's called Midday
49:23
Speaker 4: a couple of times, but I have not talked to
49:25
Speaker 4: mister Jim. Text, says Dave. What's the name of this restaurant?
49:30
Speaker 4: Because my family, my friends will go there and eats. Well,
49:33
Speaker 4: I didn't mention the name because well, you know, we
49:36
Speaker 4: got we got to send him a bill if we
49:37
Speaker 4: do that, because it's advertising, I'll say, Okay, I'll go
49:41
Speaker 4: ahead and throw it out there. I'm sorry, advertising program.
49:43
Speaker 4: The name of the place is a Bourbon Street bestro
49:45
Speaker 4: and it's in Charleston, and I know the owner very well.
49:51
Speaker 4: Don't know any of the staff. I haven't even been
49:52
Speaker 4: there yet, but I do know the owner very well,
49:55
Speaker 4: and I just it just it just appalled me that
49:58
Speaker 4: this happened to this, to this restaurant. Just trying to
50:03
Speaker 4: give people some more options to an already great restaurant community. Charleston.
50:09
Speaker 4: Tex says, good thinking and commentary on the new restaurant.
50:12
Speaker 4: Thank you very much from the heart, Tex says, Dave,
50:15
Speaker 4: what's the restaurant? What's their politics? Well, the name of
50:17
Speaker 4: the restaurant is Bourbon Street Bistro, and the owner of
50:22
Speaker 4: the restaurant is very easy to find politically, he's been
50:26
Speaker 4: on this show before. But that's not important. But the
50:32
Speaker 4: politics are not important in my opinion, and a text
50:35
Speaker 4: I wanna fall and I appreciate this text another look
50:37
Speaker 4: at it. Perhaps the owners shouldn't bring politics in their business.
50:39
Speaker 4: They open themselves up to criticism for bringing their politics
50:42
Speaker 4: into the business. It's probably intentional for the cultural war
50:45
Speaker 4: marketing angle. No, that is entirely incorrect. If that's what happened,
50:50
Speaker 4: then the texture's got a point. But they never once
50:55
Speaker 4: said anything on their social media about politics. It's the
50:57
Speaker 4: social media warriors that decided that, hey, we're gonna go
51:01
Speaker 4: find out everything we can about these people. I guarantee
51:04
Speaker 4: you that if you walk into that restaurant that you're
51:06
Speaker 4: not gonna hear a single thing about right wing ideology.
51:10
Speaker 4: Nobody's gonna ask you who you've voted for, what you're
51:12
Speaker 4: They have not said go to their social media. They've
51:14
Speaker 4: not said a single thing about politics. Somebody thought it
51:17
Speaker 4: was their job though, to quote unquote out this guy
51:21
Speaker 4: and out this restaurant, which is just crap, in my opinion,
51:24
Speaker 4: total crap Texas Day. The people melting down over a
51:30
Speaker 4: business owner daring to have free thought and different viewers
51:32
Speaker 4: are the same people who celebrated the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
51:35
Speaker 4: Truly sick and vile individuals. Again, this business never said
51:39
Speaker 4: a word in their business about their politics at all.
51:42
Speaker 4: You'lls not again. I've seen the pictures. I haven't been there.
51:44
Speaker 4: There's no signs hanging up or anything like that, just
51:47
Speaker 4: because people disagree with it. And I've dined frequently in
51:51
Speaker 4: places that go in that have rainbow flags and have
51:54
Speaker 4: all this other stuff. And I and I say, one
51:56
Speaker 4: hundred percent, it's your restaurant. You do what you want to.
51:58
Speaker 4: Doesn't keep me from dining there. Somebody's politics is not
52:01
Speaker 4: going to keep me from downing there because I'm not
52:03
Speaker 4: shallow that way. I'm shallow in other ways, DJ, but
52:06
Speaker 4: not that way.
52:08
Speaker 18: You can admit it.
52:08
Speaker 20: That's the first step, right, that you're shallow in some ways. Yeah, Look,
52:11
Speaker 20: you know what capitalism, the market.
52:13
Speaker 4: Tends to take care of these things, Dave.
52:14
Speaker 20: I've said before, spend your money there if you want, don't.
52:19
Speaker 12: If you don't, it can end there. That's all you
52:20
Speaker 12: gotta do.
52:21
Speaker 4: And my point was is, look, if if you're morally
52:23
Speaker 4: opposed to it, then by all means don't go. I
52:25
Speaker 4: completely understand, but don't don't make it, don't harass people,
52:29
Speaker 4: which is basically what's going on in social media right now.
52:31
Speaker 4: They are harassing these people. All right, give me ten seconds.
52:33
