- 0:15Without further ado. We' ve started since I remember. I always
- 0:22felt that I had a special connection with my grandfather, because despite living in
- 0:27different cities, every time we saw each other it was a unique experience.
- 0:31I did not consider my role model and felt that I was the only one
- 0:35in the family who really understood me. His youth full of experiences and adventures
- 0:40inspired me and as a child he had shown a great interest in exploring the
- 0:46world and trying out new experiences. So, when I finished high school,
- 0:51I decided to take charge of my life and not go to college, despite
- 0:55my parents' wishes. At the age of eighteen I began to travel and
- 1:00express myself taking sporadic jobs to finance my adventures and although this distanced my relationship
- 1:07with my parents, I felt that I was following the right path. When
- 1:11the pandemic began to become present on the news, at first, like many
- 1:15others, I didn' t think it was anything that really affected us and
- 1:21I continued to travel without worrying about the security measures until the day everything was
- 1:26closed and we had to go into quarantine. I found myself unprotected in an
- 1:30unknown city and not knowing what to do. I realized that my grandfather lived
- 1:34about three hours away, so I decided to go with him until he passed
- 1:38the quarantine that was supposed to. It would only be for a couple of
- 1:44weeks. I called his landline, as my grandfather had never adapted much to
- 1:48technology. At first I was surprised that I did not respond, as we
- 1:55used to speak regularly, but this time the call was diverted to voicemail,
- 1:59hung up and bowl I tried again several times without success, until finally answering
- 2:04in the fifth call. I greeted him with joy and asked him why he
- 2:08had not answered the first few times, but his explanation was vague, mentioning
- 2:15that he was reviewing some things. I decided not to give it much importance
- 2:19and asked him if I could stay with him during the quarantine, as I
- 2:23could no longer move because of the situation. I thought my grandfather would have
- 2:28no problem staying, as he had not done it on other occasions and always
- 2:31seemed happy to have his grandchildren around, but this time I noticed something different
- 2:37in his answer. He was quiet for a moment before he said it would
- 2:42be nice if I stayed with him, said goodbye and headed to his apartment
- 2:46on a bus. He lived in a complex of apartments, mainly inhabited by
- 2:53seniors and, although it was not a strict rule for some reason, all
- 2:57tenants were eager. I knew most of them and they all knew me when
- 3:04I arrived I knocked on their apartment doorbell for a while, but no one
- 3:08answered. I found it strange, since my grandfather knew he was coming.
- 3:14I was about to call again when I saw Mrs Victoria entering the building,
- 3:19she greeted me and asked me what she was doing there. I explained to
- 3:23him that I had stayed close when they closed everything because of the pandemic and
- 3:27that I would stay in my grandfather' s apartment for a few days.
- 3:30She looked at me strangely and told me that she believed my grandfather was not
- 3:35in the hospital for a few days and that everyone in the building thought he
- 3:38had already contracted the virus. When Doña Victoria told me that, I was
- 3:46very surprised and at the same time felt a little guilty, as I had
- 3:50been so involved in my own affairs that I had not even heard that my
- 3:54grandfather had been sick enough to end up in the hospital. So I just
- 3:59told him I wasn' t aware, but I probably didn' t have
- 4:03that, since I just talked to him. A couple of hours earlier,
- 4:06she sighed relieved and commented that that was very good, as everyone in the
- 4:12building was pretty scared. He opened the door to the building and we both
- 4:18started going up and once in front of my grandfather' s door, I
- 4:21touched a couple of times to open it and it did. When I saw
- 4:26him, I noticed that he was a little paler and more obnoxious than normal,
- 4:30but the happiness of seeing him made him less important. I hugged him
- 4:33and greeted him by asking him how he had been and so on. My
- 4:39grandfather seemed very happy to see me, too. However, I quickly noticed
- 4:45something strange. His cat' s dish and trough were completely empty. My
- 4:49grandfather used to be very responsible to his pets always making sure they had food
- 4:56and water. I found it strange to see the voids and while you were
- 5:00serving food and filling the cat' s water dish, the animal seemed hungry
- 5:04and thirsty. I mentioned it to my grandfather, but he just told me
- 5:09I should have forgotten. I didn' t care, thinking it might be
- 5:14age- specific. However, as I watched the house, I noticed that
- 5:18although it was not dirty, there was dust everywhere as if it had not
- 5:24been cleaned in several days, and there were also a couple of frets in
- 5:28the kitchen jar, which was strange because my grandfather had always been very clean
- 5:32and organized. Although I wanted to mention all this, I decided not to
- 5:39burden him that day and wait for the right time to talk about it.
- 5:41During my stay, we spent the rest of that afternoon telling each other stories,
- 5:47laughing and playing some board games, because, as I said before,
- 5:51I really enjoyed every moment I spent with my grandfather and felt it was reciprocal.
- 5:59And when night came we were sitting down eating some pizza. I wanted
- 6:04to cook something, but when I opened the refrigerator I realized that everything was
- 6:09expired and there was even food that was no longer served. I asked him
- 6:13about it and he just wandered around a little by telling me that sometimes he
- 6:17forgot that the food was there. I assumed again that it was a matter
- 6:20of age, although this whole situation was already worrying me too much, as
- 6:26it hurt me to think my grandfather was getting older. That way, I
- 6:30decided to buy him an alexa to help him remember his things. I thought
- 6:34it was fair and necessary. So I could remind him of everything and never
- 6:40forget anything. I ordered it on an app and set myself up to sleep.
- 6:44The next morning I went to my grandfather' s room to pick him
- 6:48up, but I realized he wasn' t there. This did not surprise
- 6:53me at all, as my grandfather, like many elders, was someone who
- 6:57got up very early. I walked into the living room to see if it
- 7:01was there, but I didn' t find it either and looked into the
- 7:05kitchen and the bathroom, but it wasn' t there either. This was
- 7:09really weird, as I just got out of the bathroom and knew my grandfather
- 7:12wasn' t there. Moreover, because of the different health measures that were
- 7:17being taken at the time, older people of such advanced age should not go
- 7:24out into the street, although to tell the truth, by that time I
- 7:28was still not entirely convinced about the severity of the pandemic and still felt that
- 7:32it was something fleeting and not as harmful as they said. I thought the
- 7:38wisest thing would be if I didn' t come out, as I was
- 7:42not only part of the population at risk, but had been ill recently,
- 7:46according to what Mrs Victoria had told me, I was about to leave the
- 7:53apartment to go look for him. When I heard my grandfather' s voice
- 7:56wondering what he was doing, I turned somewhat surprised, as I had not
- 8:01only not heard it, but had not seen it. I asked him where
- 8:05he was and he said he was in his room. I told him I
- 8:09hadn' t seen him and he assured me that if he had been there,
- 8:13and although this seemed strange to me, having no other explanation, I
- 8:18thought that maybe for some reason, I hadn' t seen well, I
- 8:22wasn' t covered up to my head and that I had confused him with
- 8:24the sheets. I didn' t say anything else about it. I just
- 8:28told her I' d throw everything that was no longer in the fridge and
- 8:33maybe go to the store for some breakfast. That' s how I did
- 8:37it. Upon returning I realized that my grandfather was sitting on the biggest couch
- 8:39in the room staring at the TV off, I asked him what he was
- 8:46doing, but he didn' t answer me. For a long minute until
- 8:50he finally said nothing. Son was only remembering my life and although I was
- 8:56used to my grandfather remembering the past and measured to tell very good stories about
- 9:01his youth, on this occasion it just became very sad. There was only
- 9:07something in his voice that made me feel too melancholy. I went to the
- 9:13kitchen and started making breakfast. I did enough for both of them, but
- 9:18as soon as I called my grandfather to sit at the table, he told
- 9:22me he wasn' t hungry. I replied that I had to eat something,
- 9:26but he told me that I had eaten long before I woke up and
- 9:28that I was not hungry at all. Although this was a little weird,
- 9:33the truth is that many times my grandfather had breakfast very early, so I
- 9:39didn' t give it that much importance either. We talked a lot and
- 9:43I remember that we laughed a lot and without saying anything, I started doing
- 9:48some cleaning at his house, as I knew my grandfather liked that things were
- 9:52neat and clean. He thought it was because of his advanced age and that
- 9:56he could no longer do as much toilet as he would like, so he
- 10:01was doing it for him. I thought my grandfather really appreciated it, because
- 10:05he didn' t tell me to stop at lunch. My grandfather also refused
- 10:11to eat any food. This seemed strange to me, since having been with
- 10:16him all day, I was well aware that I had not eaten anything,
- 10:20and that made me think that, in fact, since I had arrived there
- 10:24I had not seen him eat anything, because when we ordered pizza, I
- 10:31was eating and my grandfather remained with the same slice on his plate all the
- 10:35time. It was a little worrying to me that my grandfather wasn' t
- 10:41eating, so I thought if I at least told him to stay with me
- 10:46while I was eating, I' d get him to try some food.
- 10:48I turned on the TV and next to him, we were watching an old
- 10:54movie he liked so much. At some point, however, the commercials went
- 11:00through what was repeated over and over again in the news about the pandemic and
- 11:05all the security measures to be followed. The truth was a little tired of
- 11:11all that, because, as I said before, all that seemed a little
- 11:16exaggerated to me and that the virus was not as deadly as they wanted to
- 11:20make it look. So I told my grandfather, but he remained very serious
- 11:24as he watched that informational cut. When I finished telling my grandfather what I
- 11:31thought about the pandemic, he looked at me and told me not to say
- 11:35that and to take care of me because the virus was quite real and very
- 11:39dangerous. I only dismissed his claims, thinking that he had only been suggested
- 11:45with everything he had seen on television and probably in the hospital he had been
- 11:50in before my arrival. During lunch and so little at dinner, I managed
- 11:54to get my grandfather to eat something. He was just telling me that I
- 11:58wasn' t hungry and that I' d eat something later, even though
- 12:03I was worried. I didn' t feel like I had any authority to
- 12:05force my grandfather to eat. I always saw him as a perfectly adult person
- 12:11able to control his own life, so at that time I didn' t
- 12:16have the courage to insist any more and no choice. I went to sleep.
- 12:20The next morning I saw that my grandfather' s cabinet lacked several medicines
- 12:24he was taking. It wasn' t because of an illness as such,
- 12:31it was just vitamins and some pills that older people were supposed to take.
- 12:35I questioned my grandfather and he told me it didn' t matter, but
- 12:39I told him I' d go to the pharmacy quickly to resurrect all those
- 12:43medications again. And even though my grandfather told me that I was fine and
- 12:48that I really didn' t need them, I didn' t listen and
- 12:52left the apartment to go buy the drugs. Once I left the pharmacy,
- 12:56I was walking to take the IOC that would leave me back in front of
- 13:01the apartment complex where I lived. When I suddenly got a call and answered
- 13:07I realized that I was the mail delivery guy, who was asking about a
- 13:11package for me. I told him that while I wasn' t at home
- 13:16at the time, I could leave it to my grandfather and give him the
- 13:22apartment number. However, a couple of minutes later, he called me the
- 13:26same delivery man again, telling me that no one would answer him in that
- 13:31apartment. I replied that there must be someone there, since my grandfather didn
- 13:35' t go out, but he told me that he was in a hurry
- 13:39and that no one responded there, so without any choice, I told him
- 13:43to leave it at the lady' s apartment number that I found at the
- 13:48entrance, as I knew that she could receive it, although it was quite
- 13:54strange that my grandfather didn' t answer the intercom. I arrived a couple
- 13:58of minutes later and went through Mrs Victoria' s house package. I thanked
- 14:03him and went back to the apartment with my grandfather and when he arrived I
- 14:07asked him why he had not answered the delivery man. My grandfather replied that
- 14:13it was because I had not heard the ringing bell, but somehow I knew
- 14:18I was lying, since the first day I was there, the pizza delivery
- 14:22guy had touched the intercom and it had been perfectly heard I decided not to
- 14:28question it anymore and that was it. I showed him Alexa' s model
- 14:33and told him how it worked and how I could help him. But my
- 14:37grandfather told me that I shouldn' t have bothered, that he didn'
- 14:41t need any of that anymore. But I thought he was only telling me
- 14:43because my grandfather had always opposed technology. Even so, I decided to program
- 14:50different alarms on my own in the alexa, reminding her of the hours she
- 14:56should take her medications and schedule her to let her know when she should feed
- 15:01the cat and check the expiration dates of things in her refrigerator. I thought
- 15:05that even if my grandfather didn' t want to, it was something really
- 15:11necessary, given the conditions in which I had found him. At that time
- 15:15I saw that my grandfather was quieter than usual, but I didn' t
- 15:18want to have an argument with him about it, because I felt it was
- 15:24something I should do, even if this bothered him, so I decided to
- 15:28ignore his silence. At some point in the night I heard my grandfather was
- 15:31making a lot of noise in his room. So I went to see him
- 15:35and I saw him pulling an old box under his bed. I asked him
- 15:39what he was doing and he told me to sit down. So I did
- 15:43and he told me that box wanted to give it to me. Thinking it
- 15:48would really do me good, I asked him what he meant and almost at
- 15:54the same time removed the locks from the box making it open. I was
- 15:58very surprised to see that inside I had done nothing more and nothing less than
- 16:02eight hundred years. At that time I told him that he could not accept
- 16:06them and that he would keep them for him in case he needed them later.
- 16:11But he told me he wasn' t gonna need any of that anymore
- 16:14and he wanted to give it to me. We were trying to return the
- 16:18centennials to each other for a few minutes until I finally saw that my grandfather
- 16:25was starting to get upset and reluctantly. I accepted them to leave the discussion
- 16:29alone, although I thought that as soon as the quarantine ended, I would
- 16:33leave them in the guest room and promise to come back for them later and
- 16:40stay at my grandfather' s house forever. But as soon as I accepted
- 16:44them and turned around to go to my room to sleep my grandfather told me,
- 16:48son, something else. You could take Felix, which was his cat
- 16:52' s name. I was surprised and asked him where he wanted me to
- 16:56take Felix, but my grandfather no longer answered me, so I just left
- 17:00the room and went to mine to sleep. When I was already falling asleep,
- 17:07my phone started ringing it, I groped and when I saw the caller
- 17:11ID, I realized that it was my mother and I really didn' t
- 17:15want to talk to her, as we hadn' t talked to each other
- 17:18for about a year, if we always ended up angry when we did,
- 17:25but something inside of me. I knew I had to answer her, so
- 17:29I did I greeted her and so did she, but in her voice she
- 17:33seemed to have been crying. I asked her if everything was okay with what
- 17:37she told me my grandfather had passed away. Almost immediately. I told her
- 17:41not to joke about it, but she told me that she was not joking,
- 17:47that she had felt bad and had gone to the hospital and once there
- 17:52she had contracted the disease. Almost immediately I told him that could not be
- 17:55since I was in his apartment with him. My strange mother told me that
- 18:02could not be possible, since my grandfather had been in the hospital for more
- 18:06than two weeks and that in those last three days that I claimed to have
- 18:11been in the department with him, he had gone into a coma and had
- 18:15finally died. A couple of minutes ago. Disturbed by everything my mother was
- 18:18telling me and at the same time, making all the connections, she ran
- 18:22to my grandfather' s room just to find the empty one. I looked
- 18:27everywhere, but I never saw him again. A few days later he was
- 18:33attending his funeral. Actually, that experience I don' t remember as something
- 18:38particularly horrible, but I think of it as something that only shows the strong
- 18:44connection that my grandfather had with me, that he didn' t leave me
- 18:48lying in the middle of nowhere when I needed it most and that somehow I
- 18:52could spend a few more days with him and say goodbye. I' ll
- 18:56always be grateful for that. This happened to me at the time of the
- 19:04pandemic. At that time, like a lot of kids my age, we
- 19:08went into high school without even stepping on physical school. Everything was online,
- 19:14although to be honest this did not bother me, since I had never been
- 19:18very good at socializing. At least in my opinion, I didn' t
- 19:22feel that the pandemic was affecting me as much as other people. What I
- 19:27do remember is that my mother was affected. He had far too extreme sanitary
- 19:33measures. These exceeded, in fact, beyond what was recommended. I was
- 19:38absolutely forbidden to leave. She was the only one who came out because of
- 19:44the need we had for her to work, but when she got home she
- 19:48showered very well and put all her clothes in bags to almost immediately wash it
- 19:53separately in the washing machine. I actually felt like I was exaggerating a little
- 19:57bit, but with all the panic that there was at the time, you
- 20:02could come to believe that maybe I wasn' t that crazy. If I
- 20:06found it difficult to engage in conversation with people in front of them on the
- 20:11Internet. It was the opposite for me, since I really felt that I
- 20:15could manage well, although I had not managed to make many friends in my
- 20:19classroom, because most wanted to make video calls and that was not something I
- 20:25liked. At that time I had a lot of free time, since my
- 20:30mom wouldn' t even let me go out in the yard for fear of
- 20:33getting infected. So I was almost locked up at 24 hours a day and
- 20:38I remember once I was so bored that I started going into different forums on
- 20:44the Internet looking for people to share my interests. At the time, I
- 20:51was concerned with everything related to the paranormal and I didn' t know many
- 20:55people he liked. However, in internet and space for everyone. I remember
- 21:00well that while I was jumping from one forum to another, I ran into
- 21:04one where there was a link to join a group that looked pretty cool,
- 21:10because they said that there were several horror movies that were censored in different parts
- 21:15of the world and also said that several people came to share their paranormal experiences
- 21:22and that sort of thing. So intrigued, he diplicates the link so I
- 21:26can join. Honestly, I really liked being in that group, as they
- 21:33all made me feel quite welcome and had very good stories to share. And
- 21:37likewise, I remember sharing some, although to be honest, I had never
- 21:42lived anything so paranormal. Beyond seeing some object move or some shadow through the
- 21:48corner of my eye. I always had that inner desire to experience some paranormal
- 21:55event, but so far I had not had any real luck. Or that
- 22:00as the days passed, basically after taking my classes online, the rest of
- 22:04the afternoon I spent it in that group. I soon realized who were the
- 22:10ones who as I came in most frequently and remember that one morning, while
- 22:15we were talking about different things, I, although I didn' t have
- 22:21a real story to tell, it occurred to me to send a message with
- 22:25a written horror story, as I liked to write those kinds of stories and
- 22:30I felt too happy when everyone told me that the story was pretty good and
- 22:34besides, one of them made me a couple of constructive reviews. After thanking
- 22:40them, I went to bed. However, before I could fall asleep,
- 22:45my phone survived with a notification of the application I used. It was an
- 22:51intrigued private message. I opened it and realized that it was from the same
- 22:55user who had been giving me some constructive criticism about my work. He told
- 23:00me that he really liked what I had written and that if I had a
- 23:03little more of those flattered stories because someone was asking me for more of my
- 23:10stories, I sent him a few and that was all the conversation we had
- 23:15during that morning. The next day he told me that he had already read
- 23:19all the stories I had sent him and that they were pretty good. In
- 23:23addition, she gave me some notes that I should take into account if I
- 23:29wanted to make the writing and writing issue look a little better and since then
- 23:33she and I started talking through private messages. I really liked him very much
- 23:41We found out that we only lived about forty minutes away. Besides, we
- 23:45had too similar tastes. We both even started to say that as soon as
- 23:49the whole pandemic thing ended, then we' d meet to do something.
- 23:55I remember we even made video calls and talked about a lot of issues beyond
- 24:00terror. It was a friendship I thought was genuine. I even remember when
- 24:07I was almost about to do her birthday, I asked her if she would
- 24:11give me her address to send her a gift. At first, I noticed
- 24:15he hesitated, but I told him he was fine and if he didn'
- 24:18t want to give me his address, I could send him to his nearest
- 24:23post office and I could pick him up there. But after thinking about it
- 24:26for a moment, she told me she was fine and she would give me
- 24:30her address. So he did, and I bought him a couple of things
- 24:33I thought he' d like. I remember perfectly well that she was very
- 24:37happy with the things I gave her. He told me that he had a
- 24:41lot of time, that no one outside his family gave him a gift and
- 24:45that he really thanked me for all that. I told him there was no
- 24:48problem, although I know giving your address to people on the Internet isn'
- 24:53t exactly the safest thing in the world. She asked me for mine and
- 24:56I gave it to her from then on we didn' t give us some
- 25:00physical letters. It wasn' t the big deal, it was just something
- 25:07fun we did to each other. It seemed like a way to pass the
- 25:10quarantine and I remember going out of the house into the mail before my mother
- 25:14came back from work, and she never noticed. Unlike me, she claimed
- 25:19that she had lived many paranormal experiences in her life. He also told me
- 25:25that the women in his family had this kind of sixth sense that allowed them
- 25:30to see ghosts and be more predisposed to having all those paranormal events happen to
- 25:37them. At that time I told her that I really envied her and that
- 25:41I would very much like something like that to happen to me. At first,
- 25:45she used to take it with laughter, but as I told her the
- 25:48more. She realized that I was serious and wanted to see a ghost in
- 25:52my life, to which she told me that her grandmother, when she was
- 25:55alive, used to say that she had trapped a ghost in a bottle and
- 26:00that it was in a cellar that was in her house. I was intrigued
- 26:07I asked him why he never told me that story. She replied that the
- 26:11subject had never been given and that, in addition, not many in her
- 26:15family believed her, as at the end of her life her grandmother used to
- 26:19be a bit delirious. However, no one had dared to open that bottle
- 26:25and was only accumulating dust in that cellar. I really regret doing this nonsense,
- 26:30but I asked her if she could send it to me so I could
- 26:36open it and check whether there was a ghost or not. At that moment
- 26:40I was just thinking about following my friend, so I kept telling her that
- 26:45I would dare to open it and if there was a ghost, then I
- 26:49would fulfill my dream of seeing one. And if there was no ghost,
- 26:53then we' d accept that her grandmother was just lying. Finally, she
- 26:57said yes she would send me the bottle. I think it' s been
- 27:03about five days when I didn' t get any letters or packages from her.
- 27:07And actually, by that time I wasn' t insisting on the bottle
- 27:11anymore, because I thought maybe it was some kind of family relic and wouldn
- 27:15' t send it to me, so I didn' t want to push
- 27:18it. However, after that time the package arrived. I was too excited
- 27:26and barely received it, I ran to my room and looked for scissors so
- 27:30I could open the box. I was about to open it, but I
- 27:34thought the fairest thing would be for me to make a video call with this
- 27:40girl so we could both see if there was a ghost or not. I
- 27:44tried to contact her. However, she sent me a message saying that she
- 27:48was on a test, so it would take a little while to do so,
- 27:52and even though I was desperate, I managed to endure until the hour
- 27:57when she was released by the time my friend was released. It was already
- 28:02seven o' clock at night and my mom used to come home around seven
- 28:04thirty, but I was too impatient, so I decided to take a chance.
- 28:11I remember very well that I lit the chamber so that she could see
- 28:14it and I opened the box with scissors. She told me to be very
- 28:18careful when I took the bottle out. When I did, I thought it
- 28:23was a joke and I didn' t get the real bottle. I was
- 28:27actually hoping to see something a little more mystical, like a completely black bottle
- 28:33that seemed to have smoke inside. I was hoping that minimum was all black
- 28:37and had a super- reinforced lid. But this bottle was only a bottle
- 28:42of glass with a cork that seemed very easy to draw. Honestly, it
- 28:48looked kind of disappointing. I looked at my friend waiting for her to make
- 28:52fun of me or tell me that that wasn' t the bottle, but
- 28:56from the look she had she confirmed to me that, in fact, that
- 29:00if it was the bottle ria. Trying to hide my discontent, I stood
- 29:03in front of her and told her I would open it. At that moment,
- 29:07she seemed to look very attentive and after making a countdown from three to
- 29:11one I pulled out the cork that covered it with one shot, the classic
- 29:17sound of the air was heard being released, but nothing else happened. Both
- 29:22she and I stayed about a minute in total silence, waiting for anything paranormal
- 29:26to happen. But everything was as quiet as before opening that bottle. So
- 29:33feeling a little silly for seriously waiting for a ghost to come out of that
- 29:38bottle, we couldn' t help but laugh and we started making jokes about
- 29:44it, like it could grant us. I wish I had gone out or
- 29:48that kind of thing. My mom arrived shortly afterwards, so I had to
- 29:52say goodbye to her, as my mom disapproved of any relationship on the Internet
- 29:57and certainly didn' t like me making video calls with someone I didn'
- 30:03t know in person. I remember after spending some time with her, I
- 30:07went back to my room and tried to contact my friend again, but my
- 30:11computer was acting a little weird. She seemed to be doing a lot of
- 30:18work and that was hard to believe, since my mom had bought it at
- 30:22the beginning of the pandemic to help me with school. So I didn'
- 30:26t have much time and it was weird that I was already failing. I
- 30:29reproached myself thinking that maybe by opening up all the links they sent me unintentionally
- 30:33I had downloaded some virus. I thought I might try to fix it before
- 30:41Mom noticed, but as much as I tried to access virtually any page.
- 30:47It was very tedious, so much that the screen was freezing, so eventually
- 30:52I ended up giving up and just forced off the computer to go to sleep.
- 30:59I remember that while I was putting my pajamas to sleep after, I
- 31:03realized that that old bottle was on the desk of my room. That became
- 31:07a little strange to me, as I had a clear memory that when I
- 31:11opened it, what I had done was to leave it on my mattress and
- 31:17while I was talking to my friend on video, I had fallen to the
- 31:21floor. He remembered it very clearly because he had this memory of me looking
- 31:26under the bed to verify that it had not been broken and he also had
- 31:30the memory that he had seen that it was whole, so as far as
- 31:36I knew, the bottle had remained under the bed. At that time,
- 31:40however, he was in the bureau. At that point I considered the idea
- 31:45that it might be some kind of paranormal event, but I quickly discarded that
- 31:52idea thinking that maybe I had put it there in the hurry the moment my
- 31:55mom came home, so I just left it there and lay down to sleep.
- 32:00At the time I was more worried about the fact that my computer was
- 32:05failing than believing that some ghost was moving a bottle. I thought maybe I
- 32:10could look for some video to prescribe it, without having to go into any
- 32:16special page and thinking about different solutions to the problem I had. I fell
- 32:22deeply asleep. However, at some point in the morning I woke up,
- 32:29as I was feeling too cold and, as much as I was trying,
- 32:34I couldn' t make it calm down, so I finally made the decision
- 32:37to get up for another blanket. I got out of bed and started looking
- 32:40for my flip flops, but I couldn' t find them. Like the
- 32:45switch was all the way to the door. I decided to just do it
- 32:49barefoot. I stood up and took the first step, but when I was
- 32:52going to take the second, I felt clearly like a bony hand took me
- 32:57by the ankle and pulled me down making me fall to the floor. I
- 33:01don' t think I' d ever been able to get up so fast
- 33:06in my entire life, but from one moment to another I was already pressing
- 33:10the switch to get the light on. When it was on, there was
- 33:13no one there. There didn' t seem to be anything I could have
- 33:17stumbled upon either, so that too was ruled out. Almost immediately. I
- 33:23turned straight to the bureau to look at that bottle, but this one was
- 33:28no longer there. Instead of standing on the bureau, he was standing right
- 33:32on the floor next to it, but it didn' t look like the
- 33:36bottle had fallen, but it was standing as if someone had put it beside
- 33:40the furniture. That was something I couldn' t find very logical. At
- 33:46that time I felt too scared to enjoy it. It' s like when
- 33:52a dream comes true, but you quickly realize it' s not what you
- 33:59wanted that night. I didn' t want to sleep in my room,
- 34:02so I opened the door and went to my mother' s room hoping to
- 34:07sleep with her and, for my fortune, I was so tired then she
- 34:12didn' t ask me many questions and let me sleep there I felt quite
- 34:15protected, so I went back to sleep and between dreams I was feeling something
- 34:22very cold between my feet and I was trying to push it away, but
- 34:24I couldn' t. When I woke up, I realized I was still
- 34:29feeling something cold on my feet, so I popped out and ran into that
- 34:34bottle in my mother' s bed. From the impression I couldn' t
- 34:37help but scream and start kicking to try to get the bottle out of bed,
- 34:43which caused my mom to wake up and ask me what she had and
- 34:46at that moment I couldn' t take it anymore and I told her that
- 34:52bottle was cursed. At the time I didn' t dare tell you where
- 34:54I got it. So my mother pulled out her own deductions and thought that
- 35:00I had put that dirty bottle out of the street, which meant that there
- 35:04was a high probability that she was infected with the virus. She immediately went
- 35:09crazy accusing me of wanting to make her sick and risking that way to infect
- 35:15me. He ordered me to go throw her in the yard at the time,
- 35:20but I was very afraid of everything that had been going on angry.
- 35:23She took it and threw it out the window. I was hoping to hear
- 35:28it break, but it only sounded like it bounced off the cement and after
- 35:34that he told me to go to sleep in my own room and that in
- 35:37the morning he would tell me what my punishment would be for doing those things
- 35:42in pandemic time and having no other remedy, I went back to my room
- 35:47only that I was too afraid. Once in my bed I didn' t
- 35:52dare close my eyes. He would light up the phone flashlight at the slightest
- 35:57noise signal. I was sure that without keeping me awake anything bad could happen
- 36:01to me and after a while, I started using the phone to distract myself,
- 36:07but after almost an hour I started to notice that his screen was frozen
- 36:13the same way my computer had done it hours ago. The cold in my
- 36:17room seemed to get worse and no matter how many blankets I got. The
- 36:22cold could not diminish, but she was more than willing to stay awake until
- 36:28the next morning. Even if I had nothing to distract myself from, the
- 36:32idea of sleeping caused me too much panic. I think it had been about
- 36:37thirty minutes when I heard a very strange noise in the kitchen. It was
- 36:43as if a pile of plate had fallen. At that moment I heard the
- 36:46door of my mom' s room open and walk furiously into the kitchen.
- 36:51I think she thought I was responsible for that noise, but a few seconds
- 36:54later I could only hear my mom screaming quickly. I got up and went
- 37:01to see what was going on in the kitchen was totally thrown out, the
- 37:07refrigerator was open and all the food was scattered all over the floor, the
- 37:12dishes were broken, just like the glasses and all the grills on the stove
- 37:16were on. I asked my mom what had happened, and she replied that
- 37:21she had no idea, but when she turned on the light, she saw
- 37:25that there was a woman standing near the stove oven, very tall and very
- 37:30thin. Honestly, I didn' t dare say anything to her, but
- 37:37my mom was so upset that she told me to keep what I thought was
- 37:42necessary, as we would spend the rest of the night at my grandmother'
- 37:45s house and so we did. We practically ran away from our home.
- 37:49During the morning, my mom took a person to clean the house. The
- 37:54next day, she said that when they came in they realized that, like
- 37:59the thing, everything was lying down and many of our things were broken.
- 38:04Besides, the person who did the cleaning told him that thing didn' t
- 38:07want to leave. My computer and all my stuff worked perfectly. When we
- 38:14left that house, I tried to get in touch with my friend, but
- 38:19I ran into her profile being erased and blocked from all sides. The truth.
- 38:23That' s something that intrigues me even more than the fact of the
- 38:28ghost. I don' t know if he took advantage of me pretending to
- 38:31be my friend to give me the ghost or if he just does those things
- 38:35for fun. I guess I' ll never get an answer to that after
- 38:39that we moved out of the house and, fortunately, that thing didn'
- 38:44t follow us, but a lot of people who' ve rented that house
- 38:47leave very quickly from there. I feel responsible for that, but I really
- 38:52don' t know what I could do to fix it. I don'
- 39:00t know how to start telling this, but I think the reality I find
- 39:05myself in today isn' t mine. I understand how crazy all this sounds.
- 39:08In fact, I think if I wasn' t currently living it,
- 39:13I wouldn' t believe it and believe me, I know exactly how crazy
- 39:19all this sounds, but it' s something I' ve not only been
- 39:22thinking about, but investigating, and I' ve seen that there are some
- 39:27people who claim to be going through the same thing as me. Well,
- 39:28it all started in the pandemic. I have memories of this one that didn
- 39:31' t happen here. To begin with, at the time they closed everything
- 39:36was in early February, probably the three or the five. I remember they
- 39:40closed everything and people seriously complied with all the sanitary measures they put in.
- 39:45There was nothing related to what happened here. The chaos and people fighting in
- 39:51the supermarket over toilet paper or supplies, everyone, or at least in Mexico,
- 39:55seemed to be aware that it was a deadly mun virus and that the
- 40:00sooner we took the measures, the sooner we would get out of it.
- 40:06At that time I was fourteen years old and my mom worked making drawings for
- 40:12children' s books, so I had always worked from home, so that
- 40:15wasn' t a big change for our dynamics. However, what if it
- 40:20was a big change was the question of school and taking classes online. I
- 40:24liked that quite a lot and, in fact, remember I even told my
- 40:30mom that I could start online classes even if the pandemic was over. The
- 40:35only bad thing about this whole situation, to my point of view, was
- 40:38the boring thing, that it was everything was closed and, therefore, even
- 40:44if spoken to your friends by video call or you were in contact, they
- 40:50didn' t have much to tell you either, since nothing happened to them.
- 40:52I don' t think it' s been about two or maybe three
- 40:57months either. I don' t remember him well, because I didn'
- 41:01t want to pay enough attention to him at the time. But what I
- 41:02remember was that, thanks to the fact that the whole population had attended to
- 41:07the corresponding sanitary measures. We had been told that in another month everything would
- 41:12be reopened, obviously following sanitary measures, because although a vaccine was almost ready,
- 41:19we still had to take care of ourselves. Back then I had become
- 41:24too addicted to Tiktok. I literally spent hours sliding one video after another.
- 41:30It was the only thing I did for practically the whole day. When I
- 41:35heard that there was only one month left, I was happy, but I
- 41:39also thought it was too long, since we had already been locked up for
- 41:45more than two months, but there wasn' t much to do. And
- 41:47one day, as I slid down on Tiktok, I came across this account
- 41:52of a girl who taught how to shift for those who don' t know.
- 41:59Shitting is prack changing reality. She claimed to have managed to do this
- 42:04and to have gone to a reality and that she had met people and that
- 42:08kind of thing the truth. When I saw that video, I thought it
- 42:12was total nonsense. Don' t misunderstand me. I' ve always been
- 42:16about respecting any kind of beliefs people may have. But when this girl said
- 42:22she had managed to move her mind to some kind of alternative reality where the
- 42:28universe of a movie was real and you could get to know everyone seriously,
- 42:31it became pretty pathetic to me. However, almost as if it were some
- 42:37kind of bad joke of fate, these videos began to come out more and
- 42:42more and more different people claimed to have managed to shift, not only to
- 42:47Harvey' s universe, but to different kinds of realities and basically, your
- 42:52imagination was the limit. At first it seemed somewhat exaggerated, but very soon
- 42:58the idea of ur started to like me. I' ve always blamed the
- 43:01fact that I' d been locked up in my house for a long time
- 43:07and assumed that if I did, I wouldn' t have to tell anyone,
- 43:12since I thought it was humiliating. Still, I was very curious and
- 43:15thought that at least it would be a good way to pass the time.
- 43:19So one day I decided and started investigating about all this. At first I
- 43:24didn' t even have a clear idea of where I wanted to go,
- 43:30but I finally decided which one everyone chose, as it was the most common
- 43:34one within all the people who did this, so the first thing they ask
- 43:37you to do is to do a kind of script where you have to write,
- 43:43how long you' re going to be there, how you are,
- 43:47how the characters are going to be, the rules and different kinds of things.
- 43:50It' s a very long process that I don' t think is
- 43:52worth mentioning in detail here, but let' s just say it' s
- 43:57rather tedious. I don' t think I slept in two days for doing
- 44:00everything to the letter. The truth is, I' ve always been too
- 44:04obsessive and when I have a job I can' t rest until I finish
- 44:09it. After having written it with all the recommendations they gave, the time
- 44:15for meditation came. The truth is that the first time I tried, nothing
- 44:19happened at all. I think I couldn' t even concentrate The main reason
- 44:25was because something inside of me kept saying that what I was doing was unknown
- 44:30to a boy my age. But after that I started to try different kinds
- 44:35of methods. Not only fasting, but I have this memory that the more
- 44:40I tried it the more. I was convinced that it could be real,
- 44:45especially because in my third attempt I could see something in my mind. It
- 44:47was like the place where I said I was going to wake up, but
- 44:52almost immediately I reacted in my bed. I remember in the fourth attempt,
- 44:58where it didn' t work, I was already too disappointed and I was
- 45:02about not to try again, but I saw a video of a girl claiming
- 45:07that a method in particular did serve him. So I decided I' d
- 45:10try that fifth time and if it didn' t work, I' d
- 45:16definitely leave this whole shifting thing. It was several days trying to mentalize and
- 45:20meditate until the time came. It should be noted that the last memory that
- 45:24I have in my mind as my true reality, is that quarantine already had
- 45:30a scheduled day to end and in fact, they already said that there was
- 45:32a vaccine on the way. Very well after that I did this meditation for
- 45:37finally reaching out to that reality of the universe of the magician Harry, and
- 45:42I remember that on this occasion I felt it was something different. I mean,
- 45:45if I could feel my soul coming out of my body, if that
- 45:50makes some sense to my nose, then smells that I had put into the
- 45:54script that I made to identify whether I had ached or not began to come
- 46:00up. But all of a sudden, everything went black. And even though
- 46:04this might well have been considered as having failed and had woken up again,
- 46:07the truth is that at the time I couldn' t do it. It
- 46:10was like I was just in the blue, like I stayed in some sort
- 46:15of limbo, it was like I was part of the blue. I don
- 46:21' t have many words to explain it, because I' ve never lived
- 46:27anything like that, but then I felt like something pulled me out and after
- 46:31that my whole vision got purple. Everything was purple. After that I woke
- 46:35up again. At the time I was quite upset because I had felt something
- 46:39ugly, it was as if I had fallen suddenly into my bed and as
- 46:45if all my bones had been rebuilt. I can' t know what happened,
- 46:50but I' m just saying it as I come up with words right
- 46:52now. I think I lay in bed for about ten or maybe fifteen minutes
- 46:58as I recovered from the pain I felt. It was like everything inside me
- 47:02was messed up. But I finally got up I saw the clock and it
- 47:08had only happened about half an hour from everything I had been doing. Almost
- 47:13immediately I could notice the first thing different was that my violin wasn' t
- 47:19in the same place I always left it and in fact, it wasn'
- 47:22t anywhere. And even though that was weird for me at the time,
- 47:28I didn' t take it into account, as I thought I could have
- 47:31left it down or anywhere else as soon as I got down I could see.
- 47:35The next strange thing. It was a photograph of my mom, my
- 47:38grandmother and me in an amusement park. As such, I wouldn' t
- 47:43have anything unusual, since obviously I had gone to the amusement park with my
- 47:49mom, but I knew when she was. That picture had been taken when
- 47:52I was twelve years old and by that time my grandmother had already died.
- 47:58Besides that, I didn' t, I didn' t have any memories
- 48:00that my grandmother would have gone with us to the amusement park. I went
- 48:06down the stairs looking for my mom at the same time as I tried hard
- 48:12to remember that day when the photo was taken. But, well, I
- 48:15' ve been calling my mom for about three minutes, but I didn'
- 48:21t get any answers. The house looked completely empty. This was very strange,
- 48:25since my mom always warned me if I was going out and on that
- 48:30occasion she had told me that I would be home all day. Besides,
- 48:34we were still in quarantine. So the fact that I got out was hard
- 48:38for me to believe. Although I quickly thought that maybe I had gone quickly
- 48:45to the supermarket to buy something and believing that I could order some fritters for
- 48:51me, I tried to dial him from the phone. I' m sure
- 48:52we had it in the kitchen, as it made me lazy to climb the
- 48:57stairs on my phone. However, I o o o o o o o.
- 49:00They said the number I dialed didn' t exist or check the dialing.
- 49:04I tried to do it again, but he couldn' t be missed
- 49:08and thinking maybe I was forgetting a number or I was confusing it. I
- 49:13just went back up to my room to call my mom from my phone.
- 49:16The strange thing happened when I took my phone and realized that its casing was
- 49:22very different from the one I remembered. At this point, however, I
- 49:27was too disturbed by all the small changes that were taking place. I quickly
- 49:34searched for my mom' s contact and dialed many times and didn' t
- 49:37answer. I tried again and this time and he answered. He spoke to
- 49:42me quietly and asked me what I wanted. I asked her where she was
- 49:46and she told me she was working, that what she needed, that I
- 49:52knew I couldn' t bother her if I was working or they could fire
- 49:55her. At the time I couldn' t understand what was happening and I
- 50:00felt very strange. I hung up on him and for a moment I thought
- 50:05he was dreaming and that it was a strange dream, to be willing,
- 50:09to change realities or something. I went back to bed and started breathing and
- 50:13breathing, thinking that way I would wake up, but when I opened my
- 50:17eyes, I was still in this place. I' ve been trying for
- 50:23a long time, but I' ve done absolutely nothing. About ten o
- 50:28' clock at night, my mom came home and asked me again if something
- 50:31had happened to me or what was the reason I had called her, as
- 50:35she had been worried that I had hung up on her, but I told
- 50:39her I was fine. At that time I noticed that I had brought dinner.
- 50:45He told me he brought my favorite dish, but it was the opposite.
- 50:50It was a dish that I still don' t like, at that
- 50:55moment I just sat at the table with her for dinner and even though I
- 51:00hated food, so I was eating it, trying to assimilate everything that was
- 51:05happening, because until that moment everything was very strange. In the end,
- 51:07my mom broke the silence and told me my dad would come after me for
- 51:12the weekend. I was surprised, because I never met my dad. He
- 51:17knew his name. My mom had told me, but he had never been
- 51:22present in my life. I think the last thing I knew about him was
- 51:27that he was in America or something. However, he did not give any
- 51:31maintenance and much less was part of my life. But in this reality.
- 51:37Apparently, I did, because my mom also told me that I was too
- 51:40sorry that I didn' t go last weekend and that I was saying that
- 51:45I was going to make it up to myself by trying to sound casual.
- 51:50I asked him about my violin, since I hadn' t seen him all
- 51:53that time, but my mom looked at me strangely and asked me what she
- 51:58was talking about that I had never had a violin. I replied that of
- 52:01course if I had one and that, in fact, I had had classes
- 52:07online when the pandemic had begun. I even told her my teacher' s
- 52:12name. My mom really seemed to worry about what I was saying and told
- 52:15me that, although she would like that to be real, she didn'
- 52:20t think I could afford violin lessons, but if that' s what I
- 52:24wanted I could ask my dad to see if he could buy me one at
- 52:29the time. I no longer wanted to insist on the subject. Rather,
- 52:34what I wanted was to know how I could return to my reality. I
- 52:38' ve been trying basically all night. I went through a thousand videos,
- 52:44although I haven' t seen any shift- related videos that mention that this
- 52:49could happen, as I mentioned before. There are testimonies of people who claim
- 52:53to have changed reality, but none of them were with a previous meditation or
- 52:58something like this. Many claim that they were on the verge of death before
- 53:04changing or that it was something like a failure in reality, but none mentions
- 53:07anything like what I lived through. So I have no idea what to do
- 53:13the next day. I knew that this whole quarantine issue in this reality advanced
- 53:17in a very different way from mine. We were exactly on the same date,
- 53:23but it wasn' t even close to finishing the opposite. It was
- 53:28total chaos and the worst thing is that almost no one took it seriously.
- 53:32Also almost immediately. I knew my mom had never worked making drawings for children
- 53:37' s books. She works in a factory where they sew balls and also
- 53:43that her boss is horrible and she hates it. But other than that,
- 53:46she' s the same. And I really appreciate this, because if my
- 53:51mom were, even if she was a little different, our relationship wouldn'
- 53:57t be the same and I think I' d have gone crazy by now.
- 54:00One of the most shocking things for me is that my grandmother is alive.
- 54:04As I mentioned before, my grandmother died when I was younger. There
- 54:08was no long struggle against any disease. Only one day he went to sleep
- 54:14and he didn' t wake up anymore. The truth is, I always
- 54:16remembered her with a lot of affection and I missed her. So having her
- 54:20back makes me feel like I have some kind of second chance. I also
- 54:27talked a little bit to my dad. He' s not a bad guy
- 54:30and he seems to feel very guilty, because when he found out my mom
- 54:36was pregnant, he ran away and didn' t know me until I was
- 54:40five years old and even if it sounds a little shallow, that helped him
- 54:44buy me the violin. I remember that when we went to the music store,
- 54:46he was very impressed to see that I was already playing it, which
- 54:51reaffirms my belief that this story is real and that it is not something that
- 54:55I simply invented literally when I grabbed the violin or played it to perfection,
- 55:00as I have this memory that I have been playing the violin for about seven
- 55:06years. However, everyone around me claims that I had never played a violin.
- 55:12I tried to find the teacher at the place where I learned to play.
- 55:15However, that place is a pizzeria. This reality and my reality are
- 55:21almost the same. People are practically the same, but there are small differences,
- 55:27for example, the phone numbers, as mine, in my reality,
- 55:30started with eighty- seven and have twelve digits, while here the phone numbers
- 55:35are different. There are also certain places that I remember existed, but it
- 55:43turns out they' re not here. And another thing is that they had
- 55:45canceled a series that I liked a lot, but this one was canceled since
- 55:51their first season and here, apparently, there are three seasons. I know
- 55:53these are too subtle things, but they are details that make my reality different
- 56:00from this truth. I have no idea how I ended up here. I
- 56:04just know I can' t leave. I remember that in the kind of
- 56:07script I had to do for shifting I had put that place ten years after
- 56:13I searched a lot and found nothing, I came to the conclusion that maybe
- 56:16when ten years go by, I' m not going to be here anymore.
- 56:21But I don' t know if there' s anyone in the audience
- 56:24who knows exactly what might have happened or what I can do seriously, I
- 56:30' d really appreciate it. This is something that happened to me during the
- 56:38pandemic and, to tell the truth, I think it is something that causes
- 56:43me a lot of guilt and somehow this could be some kind of confession,
- 56:46but I know that, although I have told people, they never believe me.
- 56:51I had no good memories about my older brother Hugo. He was two
- 56:54years older than me and the moment I was born Mom, he had something
- 56:59and died. I remember telling myself that I had killed our mother and how
- 57:05much she hated me. They weren' t just serious words. He was
- 57:08trying hard to be a jerk. He was always beating me or insulting me
- 57:15I remember there were even times when I was just asleep and in the middle
- 57:19of the morning, he would come and pull me down my ankle to make
- 57:22me fall out of bed. Although this doesn' t sound so serious,
- 57:25the truth is that my bed was a suspended bed about a meter away,
- 57:30so the hit was very strong. Many times I tried to tell my father,
- 57:37but he only told me to behave like a man and defend me.
- 57:40Even on one occasion when we were in face- to- face school,
- 57:45he pulled my pants down and threw me down the stairs, breaking my arm,
- 57:51just to impress a girl he liked. I remember that on that occasion
- 57:55my father was called to address and he just said it was no big deal,
- 58:00because the brothers were constantly making jokes and it was just boys' stuff,
- 58:06so at some point I would do something to him and then we'
- 58:08d be even. Although to tell the truth, I did not dare do
- 58:12anything for fear of how I could respond to the day when the pandemic was
- 58:17declared. I think there was no happier person on this earth than my brother
- 58:22was. After a bridge he said they were like holidays, besides that,
- 58:27since our father worked practically all day, we stayed alone at home. For
- 58:32me it was even worse torture, for if my brother was once an odious
- 58:38person, now I was the only victim within his grasp. I used to
- 58:43spend it locked in my room in fear of going out, even if I
- 58:46went to the bathroom. For me it was even worse after I found out
- 58:51that we would stay home much longer than we thought. And over time this
- 58:55spread so far that online classes began the truth. I liked this dynamic very
- 59:02much, because I felt that I could finally concentrate. Besides, as at
- 59:07that time, my brother started high school in quarantine, we had classes at
- 59:13different hours and that allowed me to go home for some things while he was
- 59:17in class. So I was pretty grateful for this whole situation, but it
- 59:23was also really boring. Online classes occupied very few hours of the day and
- 59:30after that there was not much to do. Or what to be more entertained
- 59:34with than watching online series or videos at that time. I suppose everyone will
- 59:39remember that he became very famous Tiktok and I mostly for being bored. I
- 59:45downloaded it and you could say that I became very addicted to it. I
- 59:50literally spent hours sliding one video after another, and that' s when,
- 59:54in one of the many options that came out to me, I knew the
- 59:59tulps. Until that moment I had never heard anything related to the subject,
- 1:00:05but the first video I saw of them represented them as an idea, not
- 1:00:08as a bad or diabolical thing. It was more like your thoughts became a
- 1:00:14little real. I don' t know exactly how to explain them without turning
- 1:00:20this into an encyclopedia. But in the video that I saw it was basically
- 1:00:23from a man who was quite spiritual and was exposing this kind of theory in
- 1:00:29which this planet, as well as the universe that makes it up, is
- 1:00:32a kind of tulp of an initial creator that we would call god or something.
- 1:00:37The truth is that I don' t remember much what that video was
- 1:00:42like, but the point is that at some point it deviated to the fact
- 1:00:45that the guardian angels could also be some kind of tulp, and that led
- 1:00:51me to think that if you could create a tulp, I could be my
- 1:00:53own guardian angel. All I wanted was for him to visualize himself sufficiently so
- 1:01:00that, perhaps in that way, my brother would see him and leave me
- 1:01:02alone. So I started researching the subject further, trying to see how I
- 1:01:07could manage to create a tulp quickly. I realized that, in fact,
- 1:01:12there were several ways to do it, but all of them involved a lot
- 1:01:17of meditation and, given the circumstances of that time, in which I had
- 1:01:22nothing better to do, because I decided that I wanted to do that.
- 1:01:27I remember I even drew it. He wanted it to look like an angel,
- 1:01:30but it also looked dangerous. Or something that would tell my brother that
- 1:01:37if he dared to touch my hair again, then he could hurt him a
- 1:01:40lot. At that point, I don' t remember wanting something bad to
- 1:01:45happen to my brother. After all, he was my brother and even though
- 1:01:51he had made my life miserable for almost my entire life, I didn'
- 1:01:54t want the evil to draw him I took inspiration from different images from the
- 1:02:01Internet and, to my point of view, it had turned out very cool.
- 1:02:05It had golden wings and a red helmet that seemed to be the head
- 1:02:08of a bird. On top of that, I had an armor and remember
- 1:02:14I also drew a sword, although I didn' t know very well what
- 1:02:17I would use such a thing for. I just thought it looked great in
- 1:02:21the drawing. Besides, I had the power to drain a person' s
- 1:02:25life if I wanted to, and once I finished designing it, I started
- 1:02:30doing all those meditation work to try to manifest it. I wouldn' t
- 1:02:36want to say exactly what method I used, because I don' t want
- 1:02:40to burden myself with any more guilt in my conscience than I charge right now.
- 1:02:44But it took about two months for me to accomplish nothing. In fact,
- 1:02:49I was already starting to screw up and want to throw in the towel.
- 1:02:52But I remember one night, while I was sleeping, I dreamt it
- 1:02:58was actually quite peaceful. The dream all this was like a field with fruit
- 1:03:00trees and grass smelled like wet soil and I felt too good with myself.
- 1:03:07Then I walked towards a specific tree because I saw that under it was a
- 1:03:13person and the closer I got, I realized that it was not a person,
- 1:03:17but my guardian angel, the one I had drawn and had been manifesting
- 1:03:22all that time. At first, he was just there. He didn'
- 1:03:30t seem to realize that I was walking towards him. He was reading a
- 1:03:34thick golden book with his free hand. I was floating an apple, I
- 1:03:37couldn' t believe what my eyes were seeing as soon as I was about
- 1:03:43a meter away. That' s when he closed the book and turned to
- 1:03:46see me. At that moment I felt realized as if nothing in the world
- 1:03:52could ever hurt me again. And even because of this sense of relief that
- 1:03:55I felt at the time, I remember I started crying as if I could
- 1:04:00finally let go of all that I had with me. He looked at me
- 1:04:04and told me everything would be fine. He hugged me with his wings and
- 1:04:09promised me that no one else would ever hurt me again. And after that
- 1:04:13I woke up at first. I wasn' t quite sure if the dream
- 1:04:17had been real. Obviously, I was aware that it had been a dream,
- 1:04:23but after meditating so much, and having studied the subject a lot.
- 1:04:28I knew that that dream I had had well could have been the interaction with
- 1:04:31the tulp. But while it might be that, I also had to take
- 1:04:38into account that I really wanted it to work and had to be realistic about
- 1:04:42it. That day was Saturday and I wanted to go to the bathroom,
- 1:04:46but I knew I had to wait until my brother left the house, as
- 1:04:50the night before I had heard that I had asked my dad' s permission
- 1:04:56to go to another boy' s house to play video games. He didn
- 1:04:59' t laugh at what time he planned to leave, but there was still
- 1:05:02noise outside the room, so he thought he was still there, although after
- 1:05:09half an hour I couldn' t stand it anymore and I squeaked open the
- 1:05:14door to walk into the bathroom. At first I didn' t see him
- 1:05:15anywhere, so I thought maybe at some point he was gone and I hadn
- 1:05:19' t noticed. Little by little, I began to walk more confidently.
- 1:05:24However, he jumped to take me down and asked me where I wanted to
- 1:05:29go. I told him to let go, but he wasn' t willing
- 1:05:33to let me go until I told him where he was going. So,
- 1:05:38in an attempt to get me out, I ended up telling her I was
- 1:05:42going to the bathroom and letting me go. At that moment he picked me
- 1:05:45up and started dragging me into the bathroom saying that he would take me.
- 1:05:49I' m not sure what he planned to do at the time. I
- 1:05:54know he held me by the neck as he walked into the bathroom. The
- 1:05:58door was totally fine by that time there was not a single stream of air,
- 1:06:03but when we were about to arrive, the bathroom door closed so tightly
- 1:06:08that we could even feel a stream of air. At that moment, Hugo
- 1:06:14felt so surprised that he even let me go. He turned to me and
- 1:06:17asked me what had happened. But at that point I started running in the
- 1:06:23opposite direction to get back to my room. I didn' t care what
- 1:06:27happened. All I cared about was getting away from him. I was in
- 1:06:31my room in a matter of seconds and closed the door. There was too
- 1:06:35surprised by what had happened and being a person who was not afraid of anything,
- 1:06:41he opened the bathroom door. I knew it because almost immediately I closed
- 1:06:45mine screamed and ran to my room knocking on the door and asking me to
- 1:06:50come in at the beginning. I didn' t want to open it,
- 1:06:55thinking it was one of his many jokes or that he was just doing it
- 1:06:59so that the moment the bra hit me or ended anything, he wanted to
- 1:07:02make me moments back. However, after a few minutes when I kept begging
- 1:07:08for serious entry, I began to get a little remorse, as his voice
- 1:07:14sounded like I really needed help, so I opened the door to him and
- 1:07:17at that moment he walked in and closed a door, telling me that someone
- 1:07:21had entered the house and was in the bathroom. I asked him who had
- 1:07:28come in and told me he didn' t know, but that he had
- 1:07:31a horrible costume and a red mask at the time I took my phone and
- 1:07:38called the police, but even though they told us they were going to send
- 1:07:42a patrol, they never arrived. After about an hour waiting for them,
- 1:07:45we decided to call our dad and when he found out, he left work
- 1:07:49to get home with us. However, when he entered he found no one,
- 1:07:55for there was no sign that the door had been for to give or
- 1:08:00that some window was broken and nothing of value was missing either. Of course,
- 1:08:05my dad was furious because he thought we played a joke on him to
- 1:08:11get him out of work. He scolded both of us and told us that
- 1:08:14if we did anything like that again, we' d regret it. And
- 1:08:17after that he went back to work. I remember claiming my brother and asking
- 1:08:21him why he had done that, but he was very quiet and only went
- 1:08:28to his room, where he locked himself up for the rest of the afternoon.
- 1:08:32After that, my brother was calm for almost two weeks. In fact,
- 1:08:38he was even becoming a nice person with me. Not that we were
- 1:08:42becoming great friends, but from time to time we were talking a little bit
- 1:08:47and because of this, I almost didn' t even think about the topic
- 1:08:51of tulp, until on one occasion my brother came to my room and asked
- 1:08:57me if I could lend him the charger of my computer because his had broken.
- 1:09:01He also told me it was strange, because it looked like someone had
- 1:09:05cut it with scissors, but he also told me it was probably him.
- 1:09:11I told him I was fine and the charger was on my desk, so
- 1:09:15he walked over there. By that time I was sliding videos on tiktok,
- 1:09:20so I wasn' t paying attention to what he was doing. But soon
- 1:09:26afterwards I heard he crushed a sheet of paper and after that he looked at
- 1:09:30me and told me you' re a bad baby. At that time I
- 1:09:33turned around to see why he was telling me that and I saw that he
- 1:09:38had in his hand the notebook in which I had been drawing my angel.
- 1:09:42At first I pretended not to know what I was talking about and he told
- 1:09:46me that I had planned it. Everything required me to know who was the
- 1:09:50person who had disguised himself as that thing I had drawn, but I told
- 1:09:55him I didn' t know what I was talking about and in part I
- 1:09:58was. I hadn' t had anything to do with anything I' d
- 1:10:00seen in the bathroom, but he didn' t believe me any minute.
- 1:10:08He already had me on the floor and beat me without any mercy saying I
- 1:10:12wouldn' t think of scaring him again. That way, I think I
- 1:10:15can say that was the hardest beating I' ve ever had and also the
- 1:10:19strongest I' ve ever had in my entire life. He opened my lip
- 1:10:23and also turned my nose off. I could try to defend myself, but
- 1:10:29he was much stronger than I was. To my luck, at some point
- 1:10:33we made so much noise that Dad came up to separate us. However,
- 1:10:36as was his custom. He took it as a brotherly fight and only told
- 1:10:42Hugo to go to his room and as I was complaining for a long time
- 1:10:45about my nose, he took me to the doctor, where they put me
- 1:10:50some kind of splint to accommodate it. I was very scared, as I
- 1:10:56knew my brother wasn' t going to leave it like this and the next
- 1:11:00day, as soon as Dad went to work and I stayed alone with him,
- 1:11:03it would be hell. I was really scared when I got home and
- 1:11:09I even locked the door safely and also put a piece of furniture in case
- 1:11:13I threw it away, I really thought I was capable of everything. I
- 1:11:16couldn' t even sleep I woke up with the slightest noise I heard,
- 1:11:23thinking it might be him I think it was around six in the morning when
- 1:11:28I heard my dad went to work and they only had to go about fifteen
- 1:11:32minutes before he heard my brother try to open the door. At first I
- 1:11:38heard he was bringing the keys, so I assumed he took it out of
- 1:11:42our dad' s room and although he managed to remove the lock from my
- 1:11:47door, the furniture he had put totally prevented him from passing. This frustrated
- 1:11:49him a lot and started knocking and kicking the door. He said yes,
- 1:11:55I wanted to stay there all day, but that would only make things worse
- 1:11:59for me. He also said that I was a man and I left at
- 1:12:03the time that my friend was no longer in disguise to scare him. I
- 1:12:08think he was like this for about half an hour until he left not before
- 1:12:13reminding me that at some point he would have to leave and that he would
- 1:12:17be outside waiting for me and I don' t know how to say this
- 1:12:20without sounding like a terrible person. But from one moment to the next I
- 1:12:23went from being very afraid to having hatred. Maybe it was the pressure of
- 1:12:26so many years, or I don' t know, but I know I
- 1:12:30felt a lot of hate, I wanted him dead and I thought if he
- 1:12:35wasn' t, my life would be so much better and everyone would be
- 1:12:40happier if they didn' t have to deal with people like him. I
- 1:12:42was so angry that I took a skateboard that my father had given me away
- 1:12:47at some point in the hope that I would be interested in a sport.
- 1:12:50But since I was never interested, I was just gathering dust in a corner,
- 1:12:56but at that point I was more than willing to hit her on the
- 1:13:00run until she promised to leave me alone. I remember carefully removing the furniture
- 1:13:04from the door to make as little noise as possible. I wanted to catch
- 1:13:09my brother by surprise, as I thought that was the only way I could
- 1:13:13beat him I went out and that' s when I saw him standing on
- 1:13:18the stairs waiting if I had taken him by surprise because I was looking at
- 1:13:23his phone. When he noticed me at first, he made fun of me.
- 1:13:27He told me that if I really thought I could do something with that
- 1:13:30skateboard, but at the time I was very angry and started running towards him
- 1:13:35screaming and shaking her. He went back trying to dodge the blows, but
- 1:13:41at some point I hit him and the blow was so strong that I opened
- 1:13:45his cheek. At that moment I stopped. I think he had more empathy
- 1:13:49than he did, and almost immediately I asked him if he was okay.
- 1:13:54But all he did was clean his blood and tell me he was dead and
- 1:14:00then start chasing me all over the house. He managed to corner me at
- 1:14:04the bar in the kitchen and I remember that while I was trying to protect
- 1:14:10my face as much as possible, I heard something was like a creak and
- 1:14:15after that, some steps that were on the bar fell. At first,
- 1:14:18I thought it was some tremor, but Hugo raised his face and I can
- 1:14:24almost swear that I saw him pale back and at that moment I could turn
- 1:14:29and I could not believe what I was seeing. It was my angel standing
- 1:14:32over the kitchen bar looking towards my brother and moving his head from one side
- 1:14:36to the other. I got up and tried to run in the direction of
- 1:14:43my brother, but when I just took a step, I felt like something
- 1:14:47was holding me by the waist, but this was something invisible, because there
- 1:14:51was nothing. He picked me up and then he took me out of the
- 1:14:55house. At that time I was so scared that I ran home from one
- 1:14:59of my times to try to ask for help. I told him that someone
- 1:15:03had entered the house and that my brother was still there. The neighbor called
- 1:15:08other neighbors in the area and within minutes they entered the house. But when
- 1:15:13it all came in, it was too calm. No noise was heard and
- 1:15:16no one was in the kitchen either. I was after everyone, so I
- 1:15:20didn' t see this. But when we went up to my brother'
- 1:15:25s room, they said they found him there, but he was no longer
- 1:15:29alive. This was strange, as Dad assured me years later that they could
- 1:15:33never find an explanation for what happened to him. He got an autopsy and
- 1:15:39everything, but there was no reason. It was like he was just dead.
- 1:15:44Of course he had the blow I had hit on his cheek, but
- 1:15:46they said that that wouldn' t have been harmful enough to have killed him.
- 1:15:53And after his funeral, Dad never became himself again. He never left
- 1:15:58me alone again and was always paranoid that something happened to me. The rest
- 1:16:02of the pandemic I spent at the home of different neighbors who offered to take
- 1:16:06care of me, although most of them did because everyone believed that someone had
- 1:16:12gone into my house and did that to my brother. Since that day I
- 1:16:17haven' t seen my tulp again, but from what I' ve looked
- 1:16:20into them, you don' t have to think about it anymore to make
- 1:16:25it real. So I guess he' s still with me somehow, even
- 1:16:29if I don' t see him anymore. Stories written and adapted by Lisa Hernández
