- 0:16Speaker 2: Jamie mckaie, host of the Countries with us Elo, Jamie.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Oh good A Eather Poor on Christopher Luxe and he's
- 0:22Speaker 3: out of the frying pan into the fire here New
- 0:24Speaker 3: Zealand to Prime Minister who's probably thinking a few weeks
- 0:28Speaker 3: ago it might be easier to go back to Air
- 0:29Speaker 3: New Zealand, but might have to rethink that one not
- 0:32Speaker 3: good numbers.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Well, I guess at least what's happening at Air New
- 0:35Speaker 2: Zealand makes him look good as a boss of Air
- 0:37Speaker 2: New Zealand, so you can take some heart from that
- 0:39Speaker 2: if you am. I say, now, how do you reckon
- 0:41Speaker 2: that this war turn turns things good for US as
- 0:44Speaker 2: an exporting nation?
- 0:45Speaker 3: Well it doesn't really, but I'm just posing a rhetorical
- 0:48Speaker 3: sort of question there, Heather, because we've got our excuse me,
- 0:52Speaker 3: our fifth GDT auction of the year tonight. Remembering that
- 0:56Speaker 3: the two in January two and Febris have been very positive.
- 0:59Speaker 3: So we've swung back from the disappointing end to twenty
- 1:02Speaker 3: twenty five. And Mike McIntire my guy Jardin, I'm quoting him,
- 1:06Speaker 3: so I've got to give him some credit. He says
- 1:09Speaker 3: they're looking for a reasonable gains again tonight, especially with
- 1:12Speaker 3: skim milk, powder and butter, and he thinks there's going
- 1:15Speaker 3: to be some real scrambling with the processes around the
- 1:18Speaker 3: world trying to work out how to deal with orders
- 1:22Speaker 3: that are going to be at best delayed or possibly
- 1:26Speaker 3: canceled due to obviously shipping restraints around the world. So
- 1:32Speaker 3: he says a two to three percent lift would be
- 1:34Speaker 3: a great outcome. And when you think commodity prices normally
- 1:38Speaker 3: follow kind of economic sentiment, I think that would be
- 1:41Speaker 3: a great result. Swimming against the tide tonight, he's saying,
- 1:45Speaker 3: a real savior. At this time of the year, New
- 1:48Speaker 3: Zealand volumes are dropping away in line with normal seasonal activity,
- 1:52Speaker 3: even though there's plenty of grass around the country. You know,
- 1:54Speaker 3: we are starting to slow the cows of well past
- 1:57Speaker 3: peak production. So this season's looking pretty good, and the
- 2:00Speaker 3: futures for this season are currently sitting at nine dollars
- 2:04Speaker 3: seventy one, next season nine dollars fifty four, and the
- 2:08Speaker 3: twenty eighth season nine dollars in one cents. Those are
- 2:13Speaker 3: very very strong forward markets either.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Yeah, totally. Now, sharing's big events about to start. Have
- 2:17Speaker 2: you got a hot favorite here.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Well, we've got a hot favorite in the wall handling
- 2:22Speaker 3: and that's Joel Henare. The tab has got him a
- 2:25Speaker 3: hot favorite to win the big double, that's the Golden
- 2:28Speaker 3: Shares and the World Wool Handling Championships start. It all
- 2:31Speaker 3: gets underway in Masterton tomorrow, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Your
- 2:37Speaker 3: producer Kevin told me he always used to get along
- 2:41Speaker 3: on Thursday night from Miss Golden Shares. I don't think
- 2:44Speaker 3: they have that anymore. That may no longer be politically palatable.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Not that I'm judging Kevin at all. Are the heather
- 2:51Speaker 3: So that gets underway tomorrow. Joel Henery is a hot favorite.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Second favorite as former New Zealand Rep. And Cook Island's Rep.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Karen Herbert. She's represented New Zealand and wall Handling and
- 3:02Speaker 3: there are two members of the New Zealand team. Remembering
- 3:05Speaker 3: they're not only competing for the Golden Shares at domestic competition,
- 3:09Speaker 3: they're also competing for the World champs. So Marika Braddock
- 3:12Speaker 3: is third favorite for the Open waoll Handling title. At
- 3:15Speaker 3: seven dollars fifty. The interesting one for me is when
- 3:18Speaker 3: it comes to the World Open Sharing Championships. So the
- 3:21Speaker 3: twenty fourteen winner, Roland Smith, this is a blog who
- 3:24Speaker 3: spends most of his time driving tractors these days, and
- 3:28Speaker 3: he's had quite a few injury problems to get over.
- 3:31Speaker 3: He's a surprising in my mind, clear favorite for the
- 3:34Speaker 3: world title at a dollar seventy five. From his teammate
- 3:38Speaker 3: Toer Henderson, who's the hot sharer in New Zealand at
- 3:40Speaker 3: the moment three point fifty, and then the Scottish Kiwi
- 3:43Speaker 3: he will be representing Scotland. Gavin Much is third at
- 3:47Speaker 3: four dollars. The rest of the field's quite a way back.
- 3:50Speaker 3: And I say surprising for Roland Smith because Tower Hendon
- 3:54Speaker 3: is Tower Henderson should I say is actually a favorite
- 3:57Speaker 3: to retain his Golden Shares title at three dollars fifty.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Leon Samuels, former winner a couple of years ago, at
- 4:04Speaker 3: four bucks, and Gavin Much and Roland Smith at five
- 4:07Speaker 3: dollars fifty each. And I guess the logic there is
- 4:10Speaker 3: Roland Smith hasn't done as much sharing as the others.
- 4:13Speaker 3: To win the world title, he'll have to go through
- 4:16Speaker 3: less competitors than he willoth. He wants to win his
- 4:19Speaker 3: nation's Golden Shares Open title.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Jamie, Thank you, Jamie mckaye, Host of the Country.
