- 0:11Speaker 1: One bad moment, a wreck, a fall, a doctor who
- 0:14Speaker 1: wasn't paying attention. Suddenly you're fighting an insurance company that
- 0:17Speaker 1: does this every single day. And that's why Clay started
- 0:19Speaker 1: Clay Travis Law. He's a Vanderbilt Law grad. He built
- 0:22Speaker 1: a firm around one idea. People deserve someone willing to

- 1:02Speaker 1: Walker Jones joins us. He is the executive director of
- 1:05Speaker 1: the Grove Collective, one of the best going in college
- 1:08Speaker 1: sports there at Ole Miss.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Good to see you.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Hope things are well.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Ready for football to get here. Excited for the weekend.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Have you thought to yourself, this could be going on
- 1:21Speaker 1: in Oxford had he not left for Baton Rouge, Kiffin?
- 1:25Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit.
- 1:27Speaker 3: I mean, you know, you try to, I think with
- 1:29Speaker 3: all that's going on right now, you try to think
- 1:31Speaker 3: back to like the lessons your coaches talk to you.
- 1:34Speaker 2: About, put the blinders on, put the, you.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Know, earmuffs on and just, just focus on the things
- 1:41Speaker 3: you can control and, you know, just what we can
- 1:45Speaker 3: control is us and that's it. So just trying to
- 1:48Speaker 3: focus on that and whatever happens everywhere else, it happens.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I'm curious about this process. Did you guys have any
- 1:57Speaker 1: agents contact you from the league about guys who could
- 1:59Speaker 1: get cut? Is this a routine thing for the 2022
- 2:04Speaker 1: season they could get back?
- 2:06Speaker 3: Well, I think it's just the side of the times
- 2:08Speaker 3: right now. I think it's us just focusing on the change.
- 2:13Speaker 3: We're stuck in this middle world between professionalism and amateurism,
- 2:19Speaker 3: and you're at the point now where we're in this
- 2:21Speaker 3: no-man's land situation between professionalism and that amateurism that used
- 2:25Speaker 3: to be college athletics, and it's uncomfortable for a lot
- 2:28Speaker 3: of people, it's uncomfortable for a lot of us in it,
- 2:31Speaker 3: but you just kind of, again, focus on what you
- 2:33Speaker 3: can control, and that's trying to be the best program
- 2:35Speaker 3: you can be, and support our coaches the best we can,
- 2:38Speaker 3: support our players the best we can, and, you know,
- 2:41Speaker 3: hopefully there'll be a calmer time, and the adults will
- 2:45Speaker 3: figure this thing out, and I think we've got a
- 2:47Speaker 3: lot of smart people in college athletics that can work
- 2:51Speaker 3: through this. And, you know, my faith is the game
- 2:54Speaker 3: that we love, the sports that we love in college athletics.
- 2:56Speaker 3: You know, we'll get to, like I said, a more
- 3:00Speaker 3: calmer time and more common sense time. I think we're,
- 3:05Speaker 3: we're living in, you know, very chaotic, fascinating circumstances right now.
- 3:09Speaker 3: And it's easy to get distracted and, you know, get
- 3:12Speaker 3: on social media and chase this and chase that and,
- 3:15Speaker 3: You know, at the end of the day, you just
- 3:17Speaker 3: kind of get back to like, all right, how do
- 3:18Speaker 3: we focus on us and what we can control? And
- 3:21Speaker 3: I think that's what we're all trying to do, you know,
- 3:23Speaker 3: at the Universal Mississippi.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Yeah, philosophically, and I think this can kind of turn
- 3:26Speaker 2: just to any program, but Ole Miss specifically also, Walker.
- 3:30Speaker 2: When you look at, you know, situations that arise where
- 3:34Speaker 2: the coach might say, all right, I owe this to
- 3:36Speaker 2: my team, right? Like we have to explore this or
- 3:39Speaker 2: look at this, whatever. Pete Golding seems to me to
- 3:41Speaker 2: be a very personable guy. He's very he's interested in humans. Right.
- 3:45Speaker 2: He seems like players like him. He likes to connect
- 3:47Speaker 2: with players and do things like that. We heard Steve
- 3:50Speaker 2: Sarkeesian say, I don't think it's the morally right thing
- 3:52Speaker 2: to do to tell a guy who's been here nine
- 3:54Speaker 2: months or a year or multiple years. You know, hey,
- 3:56Speaker 2: you know, go kick rocks and leave like the owing
- 4:00Speaker 2: something to the team or the program. Right. the balance
- 4:03Speaker 2: of exploring this one thing while also not violating the
- 4:07Speaker 2: players that are already there on your roster, is that
- 4:10Speaker 2: a difficult balance to strike? Or do you think it's
- 4:12Speaker 2: more cut and dry as far as coaches and how
- 4:15Speaker 2: they view these things? Well, that's a tough question.
- 4:18Speaker 3: That's a great question, but it's also a tough one
- 4:20Speaker 3: to answer because the pressure is so immense to win.
- 4:23Speaker 3: And I think that's the other piece of this is
- 4:26Speaker 3: you're in the Southeastern Conference, you're in the best conference.
- 4:29Speaker 2: In America, and now you're playing nine conference games.
- 4:34Speaker 3: And you really you're focused on how do I put
- 4:36Speaker 3: the best our best foot forward and how do I
- 4:38Speaker 3: get the most talent?
- 4:39Speaker 2: It's a talent business. That's what it is. It's a
- 4:41Speaker 2: talent acquisition, talent retention business.
- 4:44Speaker 3: And, you know, coaches are competitive and they want to
- 4:46Speaker 3: put the best roster forward. And, you know, so I
- 4:50Speaker 3: think it's one of those things where it's it's what
- 4:53Speaker 3: is your comfort level as a head coach to run
- 4:56Speaker 3: your program? Pete Golding for us is a very players
- 4:59Speaker 3: led coach. uh, hyper-focused coach about the locker room and
- 5:03Speaker 3: what's best for these players and what's good, what, how
- 5:06Speaker 3: do we put them in the best position to compete?
- 5:08Speaker 3: And so, you know, I think you want to do
- 5:10Speaker 3: that and you want to push as hard as you
- 5:12Speaker 3: can to have the best roster, but at the same time,
- 5:15Speaker 3: you also got to know there's a line that, you know, you,
- 5:18Speaker 3: you got to be mindful of about that crossing because,
- 5:20Speaker 3: you know, are you doing more harm than good to the,
- 5:23Speaker 3: to the greater, uh, ecosystem of college athletics or college football.
- 5:27Speaker 2: And so, I think that's a great question. I think
- 5:30Speaker 2: it's a tough one to answer.
- 5:31Speaker 3: I think for us, we have great leadership in our chancellor,
- 5:34Speaker 3: Glenn Boyce, and Keith Carter, our athletic director, who are
- 5:38Speaker 3: very mindful of the SEC and NCAA and try to
- 5:43Speaker 3: do things the right way, but they're also very competitive too,
- 5:45Speaker 3: and they want to win. We've been a nationally relevant
- 5:49Speaker 3: athletics department for a while now, and I think that
- 5:53Speaker 3: you've got to get to the point where we're sacrificing–
- 5:58Speaker 3: you know, for the greater good, but also to, you know,
- 6:02Speaker 3: try to be competitive. And I think the problem with that,
- 6:04Speaker 3: that line is blurred right now and it's, it's a
- 6:07Speaker 3: moving target. And, you know, until, until there's more common
- 6:12Speaker 3: sense legislation, you know, the nature of the beast is
- 6:17Speaker 3: to always find the next competitive advantage. And that's what
- 6:20Speaker 3: coaches are paid to do. And we're all trying to
- 6:23Speaker 3: be competitive. We're all, especially those that are former, you know, athletes.
- 6:27Speaker 3: We have that competitive nature in us. But I think
- 6:30Speaker 3: you also, too, have to revert back at some point
- 6:33Speaker 3: to what's best for the greater good in the future
- 6:36Speaker 3: of our game that we all love.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Well, you talk about positioning, right, in college sports, and
- 6:40Speaker 2: it's tough to define what is college sports right now
- 6:43Speaker 2: because it is kind of in this purgatory of getting
- 6:46Speaker 2: to a solution of structure and everything else. How well
- 6:49Speaker 2: positioned is Ole Miss? When you look at how competitive
- 6:52Speaker 2: the SEC is, I think that's a question on a
- 6:55Speaker 2: Is it going to be sustainable financially? What are you
- 6:58Speaker 2: looking at? I'm watching Rutgers last night. Yeah, Walker, you
- 7:01Speaker 2: were saying before you jumped on, so excited to watch
- 7:03Speaker 2: football again. And it was great just to watch ball again.
- 7:06Speaker 2: But I'm watching Rutgers and I'm thinking, how the hell
- 7:08Speaker 2: do they make that work ever? You know, what is
- 7:11Speaker 2: the solution for Rutgers in the Big Ten? I would
- 7:13Speaker 2: throw my hands up there and say, I don't know
- 7:15Speaker 2: that this is ever going to work with that school
- 7:17Speaker 2: and that conference. Nobody's saying that about Ole Miss anymore.
- 7:21Speaker 2: They may have said that 20 years ago at some point,
- 7:23Speaker 2: but they're not saying that right now. Why is that?
- 7:26Speaker 2: How well positioned is Ole Miss?
- 7:29Speaker 3: Well, I think, look, we're only as strong as our
- 7:32Speaker 3: network and our fan base and all those factors that
- 7:36Speaker 3: go together to make you successful. We took a chance
- 7:41Speaker 3: back when all this happened with the transfer.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Portal and NIL and the way.
- 7:46Speaker 3: College athletics changed in 2021 and going into 2022. I think, again,
- 7:52Speaker 3: our athletic director and our chancellor wanted to be bold.
- 7:55Speaker 3: They wanted to be first movers. They wanted to be.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Change agents and embrace the chaos. And I think we've
- 8:01Speaker 2: done that.
- 8:01Speaker 3: And I think we were able to provide proof of
- 8:03Speaker 3: concept early to our fan base. And then the fan
- 8:06Speaker 3: base got behind us and realized, okay, yes, this is
- 8:09Speaker 3: working for us. This is a great differentiator for us.
- 8:13Speaker 3: And this is how schools like Ole Miss can compete
- 8:16Speaker 3: on a national scale where we may not have the
- 8:19Speaker 3: biggest fan base, we may not have the largest stadium,
- 8:21Speaker 3: but we've got a very passionate fan base that then
- 8:23Speaker 3: gets behind. And you get everybody pulling in the right
- 8:26Speaker 3: direction and magic can happen. And, you know, that's what happened.
- 8:29Speaker 3: And look, you know, Lane Kiffin was a big part
- 8:32Speaker 3: of that, you know, early on. You know, he did
- 8:34Speaker 3: a great job of really, you know, pushing the envelope
- 8:37Speaker 3: early on. and helped us get out in front of
- 8:41Speaker 3: a lot of people. And then that's continued. But, you know,
- 8:45Speaker 3: the process that we have at Ole Miss is bigger
- 8:47Speaker 3: than one head coach or one person. I think it's
- 8:50Speaker 3: the collective good, the alignment that we have across the board.
- 8:53Speaker 3: And what I would say, not just about Ole Miss,
- 8:56Speaker 3: if you're talking about any school out there, tell me
- 8:59Speaker 3: about their alignment. Is the Lyceum, you know, the Chancellor's Office,
- 9:04Speaker 3: the President's Office, the Athletic Director, the fundraising arm– the collective,
- 9:09Speaker 3: the coaching staff, and the fan base is everybody pulling
- 9:12Speaker 3: in the same direction. And if they are, they have
- 9:15Speaker 3: a chance to be relevant and be really successful. And
- 9:17Speaker 3: I know that's been the biggest key for us is
- 9:19Speaker 3: the alignment from top to bottom and then having coaches
- 9:22Speaker 3: that have bought into that and respect that. And there's
- 9:25Speaker 3: no territoriality. We all are trying to pull and do
- 9:29Speaker 3: our own little bit for the greater good. So I
- 9:31Speaker 3: think we're well-positioned because of the alignment and because our
- 9:34Speaker 3: fan base believes in us and trust in all of
- 9:38Speaker 3: us to be great stewards of their money and their
- 9:40Speaker 3: support and their time.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Walker, give us an example or two of what the
- 9:44Speaker 1: college football playoff did for the program. Chambliss coming back,
- 9:49Speaker 1: all of that collectively and the energy around the program
- 9:52Speaker 1: right now entering 2026. Well, again, just like I said,
- 9:56Speaker 1: I think you have to have that moment where you
- 9:59Speaker 1: achieve something you haven't done in the past. And, you know,
- 10:02Speaker 1: making the college, you know, the disappointment of not making
- 10:04Speaker 1: it in 24, which was really tough with that team
- 10:09Speaker 1: was incredibly talented. I So there was a lot of disappointment,
- 10:14Speaker 1: and that was kind of the first time.
- 10:15Speaker 3: I'm like, uh-oh, we may be getting into a danger
- 10:17Speaker 3: zone here because we had pushed all the chips in
- 10:19Speaker 3: with that roster. And then to be able to come
- 10:22Speaker 3: back in 25 and kind of come in under the radar,
- 10:26Speaker 3: we weren't a top five or top ten team.
- 10:29Speaker 2: We had a new quarterback.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Then our quarterback goes down the third game of the year,
- 10:33Speaker 3: and then we got this Division II kid that nobody
- 10:35Speaker 3: had ever heard of coming in. So I think the
- 10:38Speaker 3: ability to have– to get over the hump and get
- 10:41Speaker 3: into that 12– And once we were able to get
- 10:43Speaker 3: into that 12 and then have a home, like I've
- 10:46Speaker 3: said this too, I think one of the great things
- 10:48Speaker 3: about the playoff is being able to host a home
- 10:51Speaker 3: playoff game. I think it's criminal those top four seeds
- 10:54Speaker 3: don't get to play a home playoff game. Like I
- 10:56Speaker 3: think that's crazy that they don't get to do it
- 10:59Speaker 3: because I know that home playoff game for us five
- 11:02Speaker 3: days before Christmas in the Grove, Christmas trees in the
- 11:05Speaker 3: Grove and all the things that came with a home
- 11:08Speaker 3: playoff game, it was so electric in that stadium. So
- 11:11Speaker 3: I think You know, that springboard of having a home
- 11:14Speaker 3: playoff game in December was really, really cool. And then
- 11:17Speaker 3: obviously to follow up and beat Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, which,
- 11:21Speaker 3: you know, the Sugar Bowl has a lot of historical
- 11:22Speaker 3: meaning to Ole Miss fans.
- 11:24Speaker 2: From the traditional SEC's days.
- 11:26Speaker 3: So I think all that, you know, just kind of,
- 11:28Speaker 3: and also to help solidify the decision that Keith and
- 11:33Speaker 3: our chancellor made in selecting Pete Golding to.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Be our head coach. You know, if we'd beaten Tulane
- 11:38Speaker 2: and then lost to Georgia, okay.
- 11:40Speaker 3: But for Pete to be able to get us to
- 11:42Speaker 3: that national semi, and really a minute away from playing
- 11:45Speaker 3: for the national championship, I think did a ton for
- 11:48Speaker 3: Pete and for our families to say, yep, that was
- 11:51Speaker 3: a great job by our chancellor and AD to, to
- 11:53Speaker 3: make that internal hire. And I think that probably was
- 11:56Speaker 3: spoke more volumes, spoke more volumes than anything.
- 12:00Speaker 1: You more or less sat in the GM seat, right?
- 12:03Speaker 1: During this, uh, how, how chaotic was that for you?
- 12:06Speaker 3: Oh, it was crazy, you know, and, and, but again,
- 12:10Speaker 3: I think that's where the alignment that I talked about
- 12:12Speaker 3: previously really came to help, you know, Matt McLaughlin who
- 12:15Speaker 3: works inside the athletic department, uh, was right there.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Side by side with me.
- 12:20Speaker 3: And we, and we had the rest of the, You know,
- 12:22Speaker 3: whatever was left of the personnel staff, which wasn't a ton,
- 12:26Speaker 3: we had a great relationship with them. And there was
- 12:29Speaker 3: a high level of trust between the personal staff that
- 12:31Speaker 3: had remained and then myself and Matt and then Keith.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Keith basically said, hey, you guys go do it. Do
- 12:38Speaker 3: what you got to do. Support Pete. Live in that building.
- 12:42Speaker 3: And again, I think that's where that alignment was really
- 12:44Speaker 3: valuable for us and the trust that we all had
- 12:46Speaker 3: internally and the knowledge that we had with Pete.
- 12:50Speaker 2: I think that's the other thing, too.
- 12:51Speaker 3: If we had brought a new coach in, we would
- 12:53Speaker 3: be trying to feel each other out. How does he act?
- 12:56Speaker 3: What does he want from us? How much involvement does
- 12:59Speaker 3: he want? Well, we knew Pete and we had a
- 13:01Speaker 3: relationship with Pete. So again, You know, that familiarity with
- 13:05Speaker 3: that internal hire with Pete was really important.
- 13:08Speaker 2: But it was, yeah, it was crazy.
- 13:09Speaker 3: I think back on it now and just, you know,
- 13:11Speaker 3: very fortunate that we had the right people in the
- 13:15Speaker 3: building and were ready to battle through. And I think
- 13:18Speaker 3: with every win that we had in the playoff, there
- 13:20Speaker 3: was more momentum at our back. Yep.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Well, and he's one for one. You know, you mentioned
- 13:24Speaker 2: the playoff run he was on. If you're looking at
- 13:26Speaker 2: one big test, he passed it and did very well
- 13:29Speaker 2: as a head coach when he took over last year.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Big test on Sunday night in our hometown of Nashville
- 13:36Speaker 2: against Louisville. You see most teams opening up with more
- 13:39Speaker 2: of an easy cupcake-type game, not the case with Ole Miss.
- 13:43Speaker 2: I also look at Ole Miss-Walker, and I think they're
- 13:45Speaker 2: a little bit of an afterthought in how steady and
- 13:48Speaker 2: good they are, right? They're a top-ten team, but nobody's
- 13:51Speaker 2: really talking about them for a national title or an
- 13:54Speaker 2: SEC title. Do you like that, that it feels like
- 13:58Speaker 2: you're a very solid team? with a good track record.
- 14:02Speaker 2: You just came off some success in the playoff, but
- 14:04Speaker 2: you also feel like it's a little bit under the
- 14:06Speaker 2: radar with the Rebels this year.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Yeah, and again, I think if you focus on the
- 14:12Speaker 3: right things, the rankings and preseason rankings, you really don't
- 14:15Speaker 3: pay much attention to it. I think more so for
- 14:18Speaker 3: How do the players feel about it? And how does
- 14:21Speaker 3: that affect the locker room? You know, in 24, I
- 14:24Speaker 3: think we were a top five preseason team. That was
- 14:27Speaker 3: probably the first time in Ole Miss history or in
- 14:30Speaker 3: recent history where.
- 14:30Speaker 2: We were ranked that high.
- 14:31Speaker 3: And, you know, we weren't able to get into the playoffs.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Still went 9-3, but didn't have the season that we wanted.
- 14:37Speaker 3: And I think last year, again, a little under the
- 14:40Speaker 3: radar last year and then got hot.
- 14:42Speaker 2: And I think for us, look, I get it. I understand.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Look, you're playing nine conference games, which is a major change.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Adding that conference game, you've got a new head coach who, yes,
- 14:53Speaker 3: he coached three games in the playoffs, but still a
- 14:56Speaker 3: new head coach. So there's a little bit of, you know,
- 15:00Speaker 3: let's see how Pete handles a whole year. I personally
- 15:03Speaker 3: think he's going to do awesome because I just think
- 15:05Speaker 3: he's built that way, you know, and the players love
- 15:09Speaker 3: him and he's a talent-based guy.
- 15:12Speaker 2: But again, the schedule's tough.
- 15:14Speaker 3: The schedule's going to be hard, but everybody's scheduled hard
- 15:16Speaker 3: in our league. I think it's, again, we're going to
- 15:20Speaker 3: get tested Sunday night against the top 25 Louisville team,
- 15:23Speaker 3: coached by Jeff Brom, who's probably, I think, one of
- 15:25Speaker 3: the best coaches in America at a neutral site. While
- 15:31Speaker 3: some people want to play the smaller schools and be
- 15:35Speaker 3: a 30-point favorite, I kind of like the fact that
- 15:37Speaker 3: we're going to get tested Sunday. early. I like our talent.
- 15:42Speaker 3: I like our mentality, but look, it's going to be
- 15:44Speaker 3: a test. They're a very good team. I think we're
- 15:47Speaker 3: the only game on that night, on Sunday night, so
- 15:50Speaker 3: it's a great platform for us to, again, showcase our
- 15:54Speaker 3: team and our brand and show our new roster and
- 15:57Speaker 3: the new faces that we went out and were able
- 15:59Speaker 3: to bring into our program. I'm really excited about it.
- 16:02Speaker 3: It's going to be a stiff challenge, but the traditionalist
- 16:05Speaker 3: in me, I know it's not popular now, but I
- 16:09Speaker 3: love these week one, you know, nationally ranked non-traditional matchups.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I just, you know, I like them.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Coaches don't love them, and I understand why, but, you know,
- 16:20Speaker 3: I know our fans certainly do.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Well, it's a big weekend of football for you too, Walker.
- 16:24Speaker 2: I mean, you've got high school football in Nashville. I
- 16:27Speaker 2: know you've got another son playing for Ole Miss on
- 16:30Speaker 2: Sunday night, and also we're excited. I'm looking at it
- 16:34Speaker 2: right now for the first time. Funky's on the square
- 16:37Speaker 2: in Oxford. We're going to be there hunting with Sporting State.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Walker kind enough to do some hosting for us there
- 16:44Speaker 2: and got us set up this place. I've been there
- 16:46Speaker 2: in Oxford. It's amazing, Walker, just in general. We're looking
- 16:50Speaker 2: forward to being down there for that LSU weekend. But
- 16:53Speaker 2: if you talk about great college town destinations, universally people
- 16:57Speaker 2: love Oxford. I've never been, by the way. I've never
- 17:00Speaker 2: been to Oxford. Regardless of where Ole Miss has been
- 17:03Speaker 2: as a football program, right now they're in a really
- 17:05Speaker 2: good spot. It's always a place that people want to
- 17:07Speaker 2: get to and go for a college football weekend.
- 17:11Speaker 3: I can't believe you hadn't been there. That's going to
- 17:13Speaker 3: be great for a first time. That weekend is going
- 17:16Speaker 3: to be unlike anything anybody has seen at Oxford. So
- 17:20Speaker 3: you're going to see it at the absolute high water.
- 17:22Speaker 3: I've got my blinders on. I've got my blinders on.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Block out the noise. Don't wear purple and gold. That's
- 17:28Speaker 3: my only advice. Do not wear purple and gold.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Fair enough.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Yeah, no, look, it's great. Ole Miss is an Oxford community.
- 17:35Speaker 3: The town and gown relationship is phenomenal. And Lee Harris
- 17:38Speaker 3: at Funkies is a great supporter of ours and has
- 17:41Speaker 3: a great location there.
- 17:42Speaker 2: You guys are going to be well taken care of. And, again,
- 17:45Speaker 2: it's going to be a special weekend.
- 17:47Speaker 3: A lot of storylines and, you know, a lot of
- 17:50Speaker 3: outside noise and all that. But you get down to it, look,
- 17:53Speaker 3: it's Ole Miss LSU. And that's going to be two–
- 17:56Speaker 3: You know, probably top 10 teams going against each other,
- 17:58Speaker 3: SEC opener for both. And, you know, our town does
- 18:03Speaker 3: a great job of welcoming people in and, you know,
- 18:06Speaker 3: really excited to have you guys. And again, look, you know,
- 18:09Speaker 3: the selling point when you get to your previous question
- 18:10Speaker 3: about how well positioned is Ole Miss, part of that
- 18:14Speaker 3: is our town and our culture and the community around
- 18:19Speaker 3: the university, which I think is, you know, puts us
- 18:21Speaker 3: in rare air.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Do you have any idea what tickets are going for
- 18:25Speaker 1: right now for that?
- 18:27Speaker 2: Yeah, they're up there.
- 18:29Speaker 3: You're getting the Super Bowl ticket prices close to it. But, yeah,
- 18:34Speaker 3: it's going to be a tough ticket. And, you know, again,
- 18:36Speaker 3: I think it's going to be a great scene.
- 18:40Speaker 2: And, look, at the very least, it's going to be
- 18:42Speaker 2: two great teams playing each other.
- 18:43Speaker 3: And, you know, we try to say, hey, look, keep
- 18:47Speaker 3: the main thing the main thing and just focus on
- 18:49Speaker 3: the game.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Sure.
- 18:50Speaker 3: You know, we all know that that's going to be
- 18:51Speaker 3: really hard to do for all of us. But, again,
- 18:54Speaker 3: we've got some work to do before then. You know,
- 18:56Speaker 3: we've got a tough game this weekend. And, you know,
- 18:59Speaker 3: you've got to really focus. And that's what Pete's really,
- 19:02Speaker 3: you know, all offseason, everybody's talking about the LSU game.
- 19:05Speaker 3: It's like, hey, man, we've got to get there first. And,
- 19:09Speaker 3: you know, I think that's where our focus is.
- 19:11Speaker 1: You guys could own this new dome here in Nashville, too,
- 19:14Speaker 1: on the opener. I mean, there's no reason why you
- 19:16Speaker 1: couldn't have a certain bowl game classic or whatever you
- 19:19Speaker 1: wanted to call it and have the Ole Miss deal.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I don't know if that's in the works or not,
- 19:24Speaker 1: but I'm all for Ole Miss playing whoever they want
- 19:27Speaker 1: to play the week that the NFL is off here
- 19:30Speaker 1: in Nashville.
- 19:30Speaker 2: It's awesome.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Yeah, well, Nashville's a great sports town, and it's close
- 19:36Speaker 3: to our family. It's one of our biggest alumni bases
- 19:39Speaker 3: in Nashville, so we'll have a great crowd. Our fans
- 19:41Speaker 3: will travel, and like I said, it's a great, It's
- 19:45Speaker 3: a great sports town with the SEC tournament and all
- 19:48Speaker 3: the other things. Getting to play at an intercontinental stadium
- 19:50Speaker 3: is really cool, too. That'll be a great experience for
- 19:52Speaker 3: our players. So, you know, I know they're excited. I
- 19:54Speaker 3: know our fans are excited.
- 19:56Speaker 1: The players, as a judge, we'll call them children, Chad.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Those children. Hey, Walter, I appreciate you, man. This has
- 20:03Speaker 2: been great. No children on that Ole Miss roster for sure. No.
- 20:07Speaker 2: No doubt about that. We'll be watching on Sunday night.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Thanks so much, man. Appreciate you.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Hey, thanks, guys.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Appreciate it. Let's go college football. Yeah, absolutely. Let's go.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Go college football. He sounded like a Rob Lowe with
- 20:17Speaker 2: the NFL logo hat on at the Super Bowl if
- 20:20Speaker 2: he's just for all the teams. I'm kind of with him.
- 20:22Speaker 2: I'm for college football to be here. It's awesome. Coming up.
- 20:27Speaker 2: By the way, Hutton, Funkies, where we'll be on Friday
- 20:29Speaker 2: night for Ole Miss LSU, their tagline is well worth
- 20:34Speaker 2: the hangover. When I go to their website. So we're
- 20:37Speaker 2: going to find out. We'll find out. We're going to
- 20:40Speaker 2: test that theory. Let's go. Oh, well, yeah, we'll, we'll,
- 20:45Speaker 2: we'll be the judge. Yeah. We'll be the judge of that.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Coming up. You can be the judge. I hope it
- 20:51Speaker 2: was fun.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Chad Withrow's top 10 college football games. You cannot miss
- 20:56Speaker 1: this weekend. He's got the top 10 for you straight ahead.
- 20:58Speaker 1: You're on how to Withrow presented by hard rock bet.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Chad Fess Parker played the role of David Crockett. And

- 21:06Speaker 1: he wishes he had on set? Crockett coffee. Started by

- 21:58Speaker 2: Good coffee, made in America, doing some good, CrockettCoffee.com. That's Crockett, C-R-O-C-K-E-T-T, coffee.com.
- 22:08Speaker 2: I've got some right here, Hut. I'm fueling up this morning. Yes, yes.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Taste of the wild frontier right there. That's what it
- 22:16Speaker 2: tastes like in the best possible way.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Man, they've got everything you need at the website. They've
- 22:21Speaker 1: got cool, like Sun Creek Blend is your light roast, Chad.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Sun Creek Blend.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Sun Creek Blend.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Sun Creek Blend.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Sounds interesting. Citrus and floral.
- 22:32Speaker 1: If you wanted the medium roast, that's called Blue Ridge.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Okay. Oh, I like that. Yeah, me too. Blue Ridge.
- 22:39Speaker 2: That sounds great.
- 22:40Speaker 1: The dark roast is called King Mountain.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Okay.
- 22:44Speaker 1: And whole bean, just Blue Ridge, and let's see, organic
- 22:50Speaker 1: would be called Wild Frontier, and decaf, Elk River.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Okay.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I'm more of a definitely not an Elk River guy,
- 22:57Speaker 2: definitely not decaf. I'm more of a Blue Ridge type
- 23:00Speaker 2: of fellow myself.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say about the same. I don't see
- 23:03Speaker 1: your infamous shrooms here.
- 23:08Speaker 2: No, not a fan. Not a fan of the mushroom.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I don't see the names here. Nonetheless, one thing I
- 23:15Speaker 1: do know the name of is the weekly segment that
- 23:17Speaker 1: is back here on Hutton & Withrow. We are presented
- 23:20Speaker 1: by Hard Rock Bet. It is time for Chad Withrow's
- 23:23Speaker 1: top 10 games of the college football weekend.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Week one has arrived, Hutton. We're here. We made it. Finally.
- 23:30Speaker 2: It's been a long, dark offseason. Let's face it. Walker
- 23:34Speaker 2: Jones just said he's ready for ball. He's ready to
- 23:35Speaker 2: bang some hats. Hats will be banged all over the
- 23:38Speaker 2: place this weekend. High school football and college football tonight.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Got a full slate of games on Saturday. Got some
- 23:44Speaker 2: really good games on Sunday. Even got a game on
- 23:46Speaker 2: Labor Day. So let's get right to it. Our top
- 23:49Speaker 2: ten games of the college football weekend, starting with number ten. Hutton,
- 23:55Speaker 2: here is my FCS over FBS pick of the week.
- 23:59Speaker 3: You ready?
- 24:00Speaker 2: South Dakota State, the Jackrabbits, are traveling to Northwestern. Northwestern
- 24:05Speaker 2: is a 13.5 point favorite. This game will be played
- 24:09Speaker 2: at 7 o'clock Central on the Big Ten Network. Is
- 24:11Speaker 2: this the unveiling of their stadium? It is not. Oh, okay.
- 24:14Speaker 2: It is not. That's one of the reasons I'm going
- 24:16Speaker 2: to get to this. Okay, okay. Because their stadium will
- 24:18Speaker 2: be unveiled in October against Penn State. Okay. In a
- 24:21Speaker 2: Friday night game. Okay. This is their whiteout. Whiteout has
- 24:24Speaker 2: very different meaning at Penn State, as we found out
- 24:26Speaker 2: this offseason. Northwestern, I believe, will have a whiteout for
- 24:29Speaker 2: Friday night against Penn State in their new stadium. They're
- 24:32Speaker 2: playing at their lacrosse hybrid stadium that's tiny, that's right
- 24:35Speaker 2: on the water, right on the lake.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Yeah, beautiful view, but that's about it.
- 24:38Speaker 2: It's beautiful. Their new stadium will be even better, and
- 24:40Speaker 2: it's right on the lake too. But yes, so they're
- 24:42Speaker 2: still in that small stadium. The South Dakota State Jackrabbits
- 24:47Speaker 2: beat Stetson 70-7 in their game already this year. Northwestern's
- 24:52Speaker 2: breaking in Aiden Childs from Oregon State and Michigan State
- 24:55Speaker 2: QB at quarterback. And Chip Kelly is their new offensive coordinator.
- 24:59Speaker 2: But Hutton, I'm going to get wild here and go
- 25:01Speaker 2: ahead and just pick a straight-up upset.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Strike up the band.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I think South Dakota State goes to Northwestern and wins
- 25:07Speaker 2: in this game. So, again, 7 o'clock Saturday night, Big
- 25:10Speaker 2: Ten Network. Strike up the band.
- 25:12Speaker 1: I love it.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Game number nine. I don't know what the South Dakota
- 25:14Speaker 2: State fight song is, but I'm sure it's delightful.
- 25:16Speaker 1: I'm going to look it up for you right now.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Game number nine, Boise State at Oregon. Oregon's a 24.5-point favorite.
- 25:23Speaker 2: This game is at 230. On CBS. And you guys
- 25:26Speaker 2: can flash up the games whenever you want to. We'll
- 25:29Speaker 2: talk over it as we go. 2.30 Central Time on CBS.
- 25:32Speaker 2: This is a group of six power in Boise State
- 25:35Speaker 2: trying to regain that status. Two years ago, Ashton Gentry
- 25:38Speaker 2: and Boise State, they pushed Oregon to the brink. 37-34,
- 25:43Speaker 2: Oregon won that game. Can Boise State surprise again? They
- 25:47Speaker 2: got a two-headed monster at running back. Dylan Riley, and
- 25:49Speaker 2: this is a great name, Hutton. Are you ready for this?
- 25:51Speaker 2: Sire Gaines. Like a horse, Sire.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Straight from Passions.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Sire Gaines at running back. Yes, possibly a character from
- 26:00Speaker 2: Hutton's favorite daytime drama, Passions. Also, Sire Gaines. Boise State-Oregon
- 26:06Speaker 2: game number nine. I think Oregon handles this game, but
- 26:09Speaker 2: it's a nice matchup early on for a group of
- 26:11Speaker 2: six team in Boise State that could contend for that
- 26:13Speaker 2: playoff spot. Hutton, do we have the South Dakota State
- 26:16Speaker 2: fight song yet?
- 26:17Speaker 1: I've got it for you. You ready for the lyrics?
- 26:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Ring the bell for South Dakota, the yellow and the blue.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Cheer the team from South Dakota with loyal hearts so true.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Win the game for South Dakota, the school that serves
- 26:30Speaker 1: us well. We will fight for South Dakota, so let's ring, ring,
- 26:34Speaker 1: ring those bells. That is South Dakota State's fight song.
- 26:38Speaker 1: They are going to ring, ring, ring those bells and
- 26:39Speaker 1: bang some hats.
- 26:40Speaker 2: They will ring, ring, ring that championship bell on Saturday
- 26:42Speaker 2: night at Northwestern as they defeat the Northwestern Wildcats, giving...
- 26:47Speaker 2: Giving the Big Ten a second embarrassing loss this weekend.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Game number eight, Hutton. Oklahoma State at Tulsa. Oklahoma State
- 26:55Speaker 2: a 13.5 point favor. This game is at 245 Central ESPNU.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Eric Morris takes over for the Cowboys. He brings over
- 27:02Speaker 2: his quarterback, Drew Mestemaker from North Texas. Trey Lamb, a
- 27:06Speaker 2: guy we know, 36-year-old head coach for Tulsa. Remember, this
- 27:10Speaker 2: was the beginning of the end a year ago for
- 27:12Speaker 2: Mike Gundy. They get whipped by Tulsa to open the season.
- 27:16Speaker 2: A beatdown. Oklahoma State, Hutton, a proud program that had
- 27:21Speaker 2: a lot of success under Gundy. Their last win over
- 27:24Speaker 2: an FBS opponent was in September of 2024, two years ago.
- 27:30Speaker 2: It's been two years since they won a game against
- 27:32Speaker 2: an FBS opponent. I'm putting Oklahoma State on upset alert.
- 27:36Speaker 2: I will say there's a lot of faith in Eric
- 27:38Speaker 2: Morris and Mestemaker. That's why they're a two-touchdown favorite on
- 27:41Speaker 2: the road. mind you, at Tulsa, in-state rivalry game, Oklahoma State-Tulsa,
- 27:46Speaker 2: game number eight.
- 27:47Speaker 1: He's a talented quarterback. He's got a live arm, man.
- 27:50Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 27:50Speaker 1: He can sling it.
- 27:51Speaker 2: No doubt. Game number seven. Call this the Darian Mensah Bowl.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Tulane at Duke, his two former teams. Darian Mensah now
- 27:59Speaker 2: at Miami. Duke a seven-and-a-half point favorite, 3.30 Eastern time
- 28:03Speaker 2: on ACC Network. Hutton, this is the defending ACC champion.
- 28:07Speaker 2: taking on the group of six playoff representative from a
- 28:10Speaker 2: year ago. This game should have a little bit more
- 28:12Speaker 2: hype behind it.
- 28:13Speaker 1: It should.
- 28:13Speaker 2: But not as big of an expectation. John Sumrall, he
- 28:16Speaker 2: goes to Florida. It is now the new head coach
- 28:20Speaker 2: at Tulane, Will Hall, taking over for Sumrall. Will Hall.
- 28:23Speaker 2: And Manny Diaz has done a great job at Duke
- 28:26Speaker 2: so far, but it's tough when you're replacing. They paid
- 28:30Speaker 2: a lot of money for Darian Mensah, too, and then
- 28:31Speaker 2: he bolts after a year. So when you're replacing that
- 28:34Speaker 2: every year, and Duke's going to be one of those programs–
- 28:36Speaker 2: that likely has a lot of churn with guys leaving
- 28:39Speaker 2: in the transfer portal that you develop that do a
- 28:41Speaker 2: good job for you. So Duke, uh, with a challenge ahead.
- 28:44Speaker 2: So touchdown favor.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Diaz was the defensive coordinator at middle Tennessee state for
- 28:49Speaker 1: a while. Um, he, he, I think his key will
- 28:53Speaker 1: be sustaining success. You know, he's down at Miami starts
- 28:57Speaker 1: to have a little, and then nothing, right. There's always
- 29:00Speaker 1: that plateau. What does he do now to build off
- 29:02Speaker 1: of what we saw at Duke last year? He's kind
- 29:04Speaker 1: of like what, um, what we will see, I guess,
- 29:10Speaker 1: from Texas A & M. Are they going to follow
- 29:14Speaker 1: up last season with another strong run? That's what Duke needs.
- 29:20Speaker 1: That's what Manny Diaz needs as a head coach, quite frankly.
- 29:23Speaker 1: And can he keep an offensive coordinator around? That's his
- 29:26Speaker 1: other downfall. He's not an offensive-minded coach, so these guys
- 29:29Speaker 1: have a little bit of success and they bolt.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Yeah, at Duke... That's what Mike Elko got out at
- 29:38Speaker 2: the right time yeah at a program like Duke David
- 29:41Speaker 2: Cutcliffe was able to do it but he even had
- 29:42Speaker 2: his dips oh over that long tenure there as well
- 29:45Speaker 2: but he he is one of the best I can
- 29:47Speaker 2: remember sustaining where Duke had an identity and they were
- 29:50Speaker 2: going to be a good solid team most every year the.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Fact they spent the money they did last year yeah
- 29:54Speaker 1: quarterback is crazy also Manny Diaz son of a of
- 29:58Speaker 1: Miami's former mayor Nice. How about that?
- 30:02Speaker 2: I love it. I love it. Manny Diaz looks like
- 30:05Speaker 2: he could be the mayor of Miami right now, too.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Good looking dude, that Manny Diaz.
- 30:09Speaker 1: He's a cool cat, cool customer.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Number six out in Boston College at Cincinnati. One of
- 30:16Speaker 2: the rare power conference team versus power conference team matchups
- 30:19Speaker 2: this week. Cincinnati is 7.5-point favorite at home. This game,
- 30:22Speaker 2: 3.30 Eastern time on Fox. Cincinnati comes in on a
- 30:26Speaker 2: six-game losing streak to end last year. So a lot
- 30:29Speaker 2: of pressure on Scott Satterfield, a lot of pressure on
- 30:31Speaker 2: Bill O'Brien now entering year three. He's 9-16 so far
- 30:36Speaker 2: at Boston College. Remember, he got off to a great start.
- 30:38Speaker 2: He beat Florida State to open the season on the
- 30:42Speaker 2: road and a big upset on that Labor Day night.
- 30:44Speaker 2: They were 2-10, though, a year ago, and they were
- 30:47Speaker 2: not a good football team. So I think a big
- 30:49Speaker 2: game for both in a hot seat. It's tough to
- 30:52Speaker 2: get more hot seedy than these two teams. When you
- 30:56Speaker 2: think of Satterfield right now at, at Cincinnati and Bill
- 30:59Speaker 2: O'Brien at Boston college. So one to watch again, three
- 31:02Speaker 2: 30 Eastern time on Fox and game number five.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Oh, Brian is, is he, he wants to stay there, right?
- 31:09Speaker 1: He's got his, his son who's special needs. It's got
- 31:13Speaker 1: the hospitals there. He loves that area. He loves that area.
- 31:16Speaker 1: He doesn't like being on the hot seat. Chad Satterfield is,
- 31:18Speaker 1: You and I were both surprised he made it another year.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and Boston College is a place where you can
- 31:23Speaker 2: do quite a bit of losing before they fire you.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Yes, you can.
- 31:26Speaker 2: All due respect to the Boston College program, it's not
- 31:29Speaker 2: the most competitive of you, win or else, immediately.
- 31:33Speaker 1: He's got the Patriots ties. He's got the Vrabel sign-up.
- 31:36Speaker 2: He's going to be given a long leash at Boston College,
- 31:38Speaker 2: so it needs to be better than 2-10, though, this year.
- 31:40Speaker 2: There's no doubt.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Just keep Matt Ryan happy.
- 31:42Speaker 2: That's right. Keep Matt Ryan, that money train. Matt Ryan
- 31:46Speaker 2: is giving you money. You're going to be good to go.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Number five game of the week, UCLA. A two-and-a-half point
- 31:52Speaker 2: favorite on the road at Cal. 9.30 start. This is
- 31:56Speaker 2: a Jonathan Hutton special. Here we go. Saturday night on ESPN.
- 32:00Speaker 2: It is Nico Iamoleava versus Jaron Kiwi Sagapolitele. Sagapolitele. Say
- 32:07Speaker 2: it fast, and you can't mispronounce it. Big time quarterback matchup, Hutton. Again,
- 32:14Speaker 2: it took me a while to realize this was not
- 32:16Speaker 2: a Pac-12 game. Opening the season when I saw it,
- 32:19Speaker 2: I'm like, oh man, UCLA and Cal, we got a
- 32:20Speaker 2: little Pac-12 action. Oh wait, that doesn't exist anymore. UCLA
- 32:24Speaker 2: in the Big Ten, Cal is in the ACC. Had
- 32:27Speaker 2: to remind myself of Cal in the ACC again because
- 32:30Speaker 2: it's easy to forget. But I think it's a big
- 32:32Speaker 2: game for Bob Chesney at UCLA in year one. Saga
- 32:37Speaker 2: Politele was a big-time talent a year ago as a freshman,
- 32:41Speaker 2: coming back to Cal for year number two. And a
- 32:44Speaker 2: big prove-it year for Nico as he tries to get
- 32:46Speaker 2: ready for the NFL draft.
- 32:47Speaker 1: So Chesney's had one losing season in 16 years as
- 32:52Speaker 1: a head coach. I mean, he's putting that on the
- 32:56Speaker 1: line this year, but it's hard to bet against that dude, man.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it's hard to bet against James Madison coaches in
- 33:04Speaker 2: general across any sport. It seems to be a great
- 33:07Speaker 2: pipeline for next-level success at that school. Basketball included.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Yep, yep.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Mark Byington at Vanderbilt, good example. Game number four, Baylor
- 33:15Speaker 2: versus Auburn. It's a neutral site game in Atlanta, 3.30
- 33:19Speaker 2: Eastern time on ABC. The Auburn Tigers, a seven-and-a-half point favorite.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Dave Aranda's on the hot seat. He's got to get
- 33:26Speaker 2: something done this year, or he's not going to be
- 33:28Speaker 2: Baylor's head coach much longer. DJ Lagway versus Byron Brown.
- 33:33Speaker 2: These two met a year ago in Florida and South Florida.
- 33:36Speaker 2: South Florida wins it. That was the end, essentially, for
- 33:40Speaker 2: Billy Napier at that point. But Byron Brown was the
- 33:42Speaker 2: quarterback at South Florida, DJ Lagway at Florida. Now they
- 33:45Speaker 2: go head-to-head with Baylor and Auburn to open the season.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Auburn a pretty big favorite over a touchdown in this game.
- 33:53Speaker 2: Tells you a lot about what people think about Alex
- 33:55Speaker 2: Golish and him bringing his quarterback over with that offense.
- 33:59Speaker 2: So we get to see that again late afternoon on
- 34:02Speaker 2: ABC on Saturday. This is.
- 34:05Speaker 1: The John McClain special.
- 34:07Speaker 2: The John McClain. We could get John back on the show, too,
- 34:10Speaker 2: at some point and welcome him back. Next week will
- 34:12Speaker 2: be a great week for that. We need his Dave
- 34:14Speaker 2: Aranda review. We go, Dave Aranda did a great job
- 34:17Speaker 2: as defensive coordinator at LSU, and then he hired here
- 34:20Speaker 2: and he's sucked the whole time for my Baylor Bears.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Sick him.
- 34:23Speaker 1: We didn't fire him because we fired our– Didn't they
- 34:28Speaker 1: fire their AD?
- 34:29Speaker 2: Because we fired our AD. Mack Rhodes was the AD here.
- 34:32Speaker 2: He got into a little hot mess and trouble on
- 34:35Speaker 2: the sideline because he told some guy to tuck his
- 34:37Speaker 2: jersey in right, and the kid tried to kick his ass.
- 34:40Speaker 2: And then Mack Rhodes told him, I'll fire everybody on
- 34:43Speaker 2: this sideline, including take your scholarship, and he got fired.
- 34:46Speaker 2: And then I was in a hot tub with Dan
- 34:48Speaker 2: Pastorini in 1977. We'll stop the story there. We'll let
- 34:52Speaker 2: John tell that hot tub story. Game number three, Hutton.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Let's go to the top three. Let's do it. Top
- 34:58Speaker 2: ten college football games of week number one. Wisconsin-Notre Dame,
- 35:02Speaker 2: another neutral site game. The Irish ranked fourth in the country.
- 35:06Speaker 2: A 20-and-a-half point favorite. This game Sunday night. Walker Jones
- 35:10Speaker 2: said they're the only game on Sunday night. They're the
- 35:12Speaker 2: only SEC team playing Sunday night. They will go head-to-head
- 35:15Speaker 2: in that window.
- 35:16Speaker 1: This won't be a game. NBC will have Wisconsin-Notre Dame.
- 35:18Speaker 2: This won't be a game. And then Louisville-Ole Miss, which
- 35:22Speaker 2: we're going to get to, will be on ABC. So
- 35:24Speaker 2: a big head-to-head in that Sunday night window. I wish
- 35:28Speaker 2: they would spread these out because the first game on
- 35:30Speaker 2: Sunday doesn't start until 3 o'clock, and it's Washington and
- 35:32Speaker 2: Washington State, which gets an honorable mention for my top ten.
- 35:35Speaker 2: That game's on NBC. We need an 11 a.m.
- 35:38Speaker 3: Game.
- 35:38Speaker 2: We need a 2.30 game. We need a night game
- 35:40Speaker 2: or two. I don't know why we withhold so much.
- 35:44Speaker 2: If you're going to go Labor Day weekend being football kickoff,
- 35:46Speaker 2: let's have games on every day. Let's have multiple games
- 35:49Speaker 2: on Monday too, right?
- 35:50Speaker 1: They're going to take advantage of the open television slots
- 35:55Speaker 1: because NFL's not playing this weekend. Take full advantage of it.
- 36:00Speaker 2: I'm with you.
- 36:01Speaker 1: By the way, this won't be much of a game,
- 36:03Speaker 1: so Walker's technically correct.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Yeah, Wisconsin's defense should be pretty good. That's about it.
- 36:08Speaker 2: That's all I can say about Wisconsin. I think this
- 36:10Speaker 2: is a boat race. Luke Fickle feels like Billy Napier
- 36:13Speaker 2: from a year ago. It feels like they brought a
- 36:15Speaker 2: guy back that they're eventually going to fire.
- 36:17Speaker 1: I nearly want to double this spread, Chad.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Ooh, that would be tough. That would be a big one.
- 36:23Speaker 2: I think it's a boat race. 1-800-ASK-WIP. That game at
- 36:26Speaker 2: Lambeau Field, which would be pretty cool, too. That would
- 36:28Speaker 2: be cool, yeah. Game number two.
- 36:29Speaker 1: That would be 95 degrees.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Game number two, number 24, Louisville. versus number nine, Ole Miss.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Ole Miss is six and a half point favorite. By
- 36:37Speaker 2: the way, I think it's like 65 degrees at night
- 36:39Speaker 2: in that game. I was looking at different temps. Oh,
- 36:41Speaker 2: is it? The Apple Cup between Washington and Washington State
- 36:44Speaker 2: was 68 degrees. And I'm like, it would be nice
- 36:46Speaker 2: to be in Seattle this weekend because every other game
- 36:49Speaker 2: is 98 or 99, even in the Midwest this weekend
- 36:52Speaker 2: when you look at temperatures. Anyway, Louisville versus Ole Miss Sunday.
- 36:56Speaker 2: We just talked about it with Walker Jones. Don't need
- 36:59Speaker 2: to spend a ton of time on it. I agree
- 37:00Speaker 2: that Jeff Brom is one of the better coaches. in
- 37:02Speaker 2: college football. He will challenge Ole Miss. I think Ole
- 37:06Speaker 2: Miss has too many horses. Kiwan Lacy, Trinidad Chambliss, that
- 37:10Speaker 2: is a very talented team. Walker talked about the amount
- 37:13Speaker 2: of NFL players they've sent to the league. In recent years,
- 37:16Speaker 2: this team's going to send a bunch of guys to
- 37:17Speaker 2: the pros, too. And those guys won't be coming back
- 37:20Speaker 2: to play in college. They're former guys who are now
- 37:23Speaker 2: going back to LSU. I think it's going to be
- 37:25Speaker 2: a good game, but I think Ole Miss eventually pulls away.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Well, and he mentioned, not this visit, but the previous
- 37:32Speaker 1: one he was on with us, he mentioned how their
- 37:35Speaker 1: plan with the Grove collective was to be top five
- 37:39Speaker 1: spenders in college football. And if you look at the
- 37:42Speaker 1: transfer portal rankings, they're right there. I mean, they were
- 37:46Speaker 1: very competitive in the portal. He's done a tremendous job.
- 37:50Speaker 1: And he wouldn't admit this, but it's true. He's the glue.
- 37:53Speaker 1: He talks about the synergy there. of everybody being aligned.
- 37:57Speaker 1: He's really the glue behind all of that, if.
- 38:00Speaker 2: You think about it. Between Chancellor Keith Carter, Pete Golding,
- 38:04Speaker 2: Chris Beard.
- 38:05Speaker 1: He can suit himself in any of those roles.
- 38:08Speaker 2: He could be in any of those roles. And it's
- 38:11Speaker 2: not just football. Chris Beard with basketball, he's brought in
- 38:14Speaker 2: some top talent. Baseball is always good at Ole Miss.
- 38:17Speaker 2: They've done a really good job with the Grove Collective.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Game number one, Hutton, Clemson LSU. No surprise here. I'm
- 38:24Speaker 2: not going to pull any tricks, pull any punches. This
- 38:26Speaker 2: is a game everybody's talking about. It's not just about
- 38:29Speaker 2: what's on the field, too. It's about judges' rulings off
- 38:32Speaker 2: the field. It's about Lane Kiffin vanity fair stories being written.
- 38:36Speaker 2: College game day is going to be there. This is
- 38:38Speaker 2: the game of the week. LSU a 10-point favorite, 7.30
- 38:41Speaker 2: Eastern time on ABC. Does Dabo have something left? Does
- 38:48Speaker 2: he have some magic left? He's out there bemoaning the
- 38:52Speaker 2: state of college football, talking about how ridiculous it is
- 38:55Speaker 2: that Lane Kiffin is doing this with the players. He's
- 38:58Speaker 2: accusing Ole Miss of tampering and Pete Golding. He is
- 39:01Speaker 2: sort of that last stand guy of, I am going
- 39:05Speaker 2: to at least act like I'm standing for what is
- 39:07Speaker 2: right and wholesome and white milk about college football. Does
- 39:13Speaker 2: he have anything left in the tank? That's my question
- 39:16Speaker 2: because it starts with this game. Show something. Do something
- 39:20Speaker 2: in this game against LSU. What I expect to happen, though,
- 39:24Speaker 2: is LSU will blow them off the field at night
- 39:27Speaker 2: in their Death Valley and win easily.
- 39:30Speaker 1: I can't help but think about the matchups last year
- 39:32Speaker 1: that we saw Clemson play. It was not impressive. I
- 39:35Speaker 1: know they made a run late in the season or what. No,
- 39:38Speaker 1: it's just not the same Clemson Tiger program, Chad. And also,
- 39:42Speaker 1: Dabo's getting information from Lane. You think he's going to
- 39:46Speaker 1: put up a You think he's going to refuse to
- 39:48Speaker 1: play if he says NFL players out there? He's getting
- 39:51Speaker 1: information from Lane about whatever Ole Miss is doing tampering.
- 39:55Speaker 2: He needs Lane.
- 39:56Speaker 1: It's a perfect first opponent for Lane.
- 39:58Speaker 2: All aboard. All aboard. Remember this game a year ago
- 40:02Speaker 2: at Clemson. Brian Kelly eventually gets fired. at LSU, but
- 40:06Speaker 2: that was a big deal. Oh my gosh, LSU went
- 40:08Speaker 2: to Clemson and won.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it was huge.
- 40:10Speaker 2: And I was thinking, man, that's a giant win for
- 40:12Speaker 2: LSU early in the year. This team is legit. That
- 40:15Speaker 2: LSU team wasn't very good, and it got Brian Kelly fired.
- 40:18Speaker 2: And now a year later, there's not a lot of
- 40:20Speaker 2: talk about Clemson this game. I think that's good for Clemson,
- 40:23Speaker 2: but all of the focus is on Lane Kiffin and LSU, right?
- 40:27Speaker 2: Every bit of it. No one's talking about this Clemson team.
- 40:30Speaker 1: There is zero pressure on Clemson.
- 40:31Speaker 2: But everyone is going to be watching this game. This
- 40:34Speaker 2: will have a massive rating on Saturday night.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Chad, before we recap your top ten, remember those that
- 40:40Speaker 1: were calling for Rick Barnes not to take the floor
- 40:43Speaker 1: against Betty Ako in Alabama?
- 40:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Can you imagine if Dabo, the high priest of college
- 40:53Speaker 1: football who hates all things NIL, said, you know what,
- 40:56Speaker 1: we're not going to do this because my children are
- 40:59Speaker 1: not going to take the field against theirs, those grown men.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Against these kids, against these Clemson kids.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Just kids. They're just kids. Can you imagine? Come on.
- 41:08Speaker 2: They're out there hurting kids out there with their grown men,
- 41:11Speaker 2: better NFL players. It would force the issue. I mean,
- 41:15Speaker 2: it would force LSU and college football and everybody on
- 41:18Speaker 2: their schedule to reevaluate if he decided to boycott the game.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Not going to happen. Hasn't been discussed. But if it happened,
- 41:24Speaker 2: it would force something to happen. It would be insane.
- 41:27Speaker 1: And he would be one of the very few, just
- 41:29Speaker 1: based on the perception of him, Dabo I'm talking about
- 41:33Speaker 1: to do it. It would be, it really is, you know,
- 41:37Speaker 1: angel versus devil on the shoulder. These two right now
- 41:41Speaker 1: in terms of college football and how the fan bases
- 41:44Speaker 1: view the coaches at these programs. Chad, I like your
- 41:47Speaker 1: top 10. I can't wait to see if those Jack
- 41:51Speaker 1: rabbits get it done.
- 41:52Speaker 2: Yeah, quickly I'm going to go through and review. Top
- 41:55Speaker 2: 10 college football week one. South Dakota State, the Jackrabbits
- 41:59Speaker 2: on the road at Northwestern. Wildcats, a 13.5-point favorite. 7
- 42:02Speaker 2: o'clock Central Time on Big Ten Network. Game number nine,
- 42:06Speaker 2: Boise State at Oregon. The Ducks, a big favorite. You
- 42:09Speaker 2: can see that 3.30 on CBS. Eight, Oklahoma State at Tulsa.
- 42:14Speaker 2: In-state rivalry with that one. Number seven, Tulane at Duke.
- 42:18Speaker 2: the defending ACC champ versus the defending group of six
- 42:21Speaker 2: playoff representative. Game number six, Boston College at Cincinnati, big
- 42:25Speaker 2: game for two coaches on the hot seat. Number five,
- 42:28Speaker 2: UCLA at Cal, big game for a couple of big-time
- 42:32Speaker 2: quarterbacks in that one and a legitimate opener for both programs.
- 42:35Speaker 2: Game number four, neutral site game, Baylor versus Auburn in Atlanta,
- 42:39Speaker 2: 3.30 Eastern time on ABC. Number three, Wisconsin-Notre Dame at Lambeau.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Game number two, Louisville-Old Miss in Nashville on Sunday night.
- 42:49Speaker 2: And game number one, the one that everybody's talking about,
- 42:52Speaker 2: the one that we're going to be talking about on
- 42:53Speaker 2: Monday morning, Clemson at LSU, the Battle of Death Valleys. Tigers,
- 42:59Speaker 2: the LSU Tigers, ranked 11th going into this game.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Just for the record, Boston College's fight song. Just a
- 43:07Speaker 1: few lines, if I may.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Fly, eagle, fly.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Child, thy heirs be found, till time shall be no more,
- 43:14Speaker 1: and thy work is crowned for Boston, for Boston, for
- 43:17Speaker 1: thee and thine alone.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Written by T.J. Hurley.
- 43:22Speaker 1: I didn't know they had T.J. 's back in 1885,
- 43:24Speaker 1: but they did.
- 43:25Speaker 2: His name was actually Thomas Joseph. He just shortened it.
- 43:28Speaker 2: It was his moniker for his songwriting.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Probably Jefferson. Probably Thomas Jefferson Hurley.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Yeah. Any song that goes back to old English, the
- 43:35Speaker 2: way they're pronouncing words, you know that it's a legit
- 43:37Speaker 2: fight song when it goes back that far.
- 43:39Speaker 1: We sing our proud refrain. Tis wisdom's earthly fate. I
- 43:44Speaker 1: can't fight to this. Tough to get inspired by that.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Went back to South Dakota. We'll bang some hats. And ring, ring,
- 43:53Speaker 1: ring the bell. Hey, we've got the full college football
- 43:56Speaker 1: schedule for you just from a layout perspective for TV
- 43:59Speaker 1: purposes and kickoff purposes. We'll preview that next right here
- 44:02Speaker 1: on Hunting With Roe. Sport and State founded by Clay Travis.
- 44:06Speaker 1: XXXY Athletics founded by Jennifer Say, former national champion gymnast,
- 44:11Speaker 1: former Levi's brand president. She walked away from the corporate
- 44:14Speaker 1: job rather than to say something that she didn't believe,
- 44:16Speaker 1: and she started XXXY Athletics instead. The mission, in their words,
- 44:20Speaker 1: empower female athletes, take a stand for fair competition. They
- 44:24Speaker 1: call it the T that launched a movement. And this
- 44:26Speaker 1: is real athletic apparel, Chad. This is the official... athletic
- 44:31Speaker 1: gear for the Nashville balls.
- 44:33Speaker 2: The official Nashville balls, teas, trucker hats, apparel for the
- 44:39Speaker 2: next great dynasty of the WNBA, the Nashville balls. You
- 44:42Speaker 2: can get that with XXXY. New customers get 20% off
- 44:46Speaker 2: your first order when you sign up and free shipping
- 44:48Speaker 2: over a hundred bucks. XXXYathletics.com. That's XX-XYathletics.com.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Chad, you, uh, have a great graphic here of just
- 44:59Speaker 1: kind of the kickoffs of college football and the layout
- 45:02Speaker 1: of our day. Is this, are you right in front
- 45:06Speaker 1: of a TV all day during this?
- 45:09Speaker 2: Absolutely. My daughter has a 9 a.m. practice on Saturday morning.
- 45:13Speaker 1: We love YouTube TV because of this.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Well, I will be driving my daughter to practice, dropping
- 45:17Speaker 2: her off. She's having two of her teammates spend the
- 45:20Speaker 2: night tonight. So we're calling a high school football game.
- 45:23Speaker 2: So my Saturday will consist of waking up, taking those
- 45:26Speaker 2: three girls to a practice about 40 minutes away. I
- 45:29Speaker 2: will be dropping them off. I will not be watching
- 45:31Speaker 2: practice because I'll be turning my tail right back around
- 45:34Speaker 2: to come home and watch all these games start to finish.
- 45:37Speaker 2: That is my plan. Another parent will be taking my
- 45:40Speaker 2: daughter home. I will be on the smoker. I'm making
- 45:44Speaker 2: smoked sausage burn-ins. I'm making a smoked chicken dip on
- 45:48Speaker 2: the smoker. I will be feasting and I will be
- 45:51Speaker 2: watching college football. And feasting is the right word here
- 45:54Speaker 2: because this does look like a sports bar manager's guide
- 45:58Speaker 2: of what they're going to be showing all day at
- 46:00Speaker 2: the local sports bar. I can't wait, Hutton. College football's
- 46:02Speaker 2: finally here.
- 46:04Speaker 1: It is time to prop it like it's hot. That's
- 46:06Speaker 1: next here on Hutton & Withrow. It's Hutton & Withrow.
- 46:10Speaker 1: We are presented by Hard Rock Bet. The big news
- 46:13Speaker 1: is we've partnered with them for the entire season. They're
- 46:17Speaker 1: bringing us all of the odds, all the lines, plus insights, analysis,
- 46:21Speaker 1: and content all year long.
- 46:23Speaker 2: Bet $ 5.
- 46:23Speaker 1: This is all customers, not just new customers. Bet $ 5.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Get 100 in bonus bets. You can do that at hardrock.bet.com. Chad,
- 46:35Speaker 1: time to prop it like it's hot, man. We go
- 46:37Speaker 1: into the weekend looking at some prop bets through the
- 46:41Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bet app. What do you see? What do
- 46:43Speaker 1: you like?
- 46:45Speaker 2: So I'm going to go with an exact win total
- 46:48Speaker 2: with one of my picks here, Hutton. I think that
- 46:52Speaker 2: all this talk and noise around LSU, it's not going
- 46:55Speaker 2: to affect Lane Kiffin and his team. I think Sam
- 46:57Speaker 2: Levitt's going to be a really good quarterback. We've seen
- 46:59Speaker 2: it before at Arizona State. I think he's gotten healthier.
- 47:02Speaker 2: I think Lane Kiffin's going to know how to utilize him.
- 47:05Speaker 2: LSU is a college football playoff team. They're going to
- 47:07Speaker 2: get there with 10 wins. I'm taking LSU to win
- 47:10Speaker 2: exactly 10 games, and it's pretty good plus money on
- 47:14Speaker 2: that in the regular season. So give me LSU on
- 47:16Speaker 2: this prop with 10 wins, and I'm going to take
- 47:19Speaker 2: the Georgia Bulldogs to win the Southeastern Conference. They've got
- 47:24Speaker 2: different props in hard rock bet you can play to
- 47:28Speaker 2: make the conference championship game across every conference. I'm taking Georgia, though,
- 47:32Speaker 2: to win the SEC. That is my pick for the
- 47:34Speaker 2: SEC champion. Give me that, Hutton. It's going to be
- 47:36Speaker 2: better than our lock yesterday. I feel it. Ariel Epstein's
- 47:40Speaker 2: already trashing me, saying, I hope you watched on TILT. Yesterday,
- 47:43Speaker 2: before you boys make your picks, I did watch On Tilt.
- 47:47Speaker 2: I'm not going with one of their picks. I'm going
- 47:49Speaker 2: out on a limb on my own.
- 47:50Speaker 1: It's time to win, Hutton, and it's time for you
- 47:52Speaker 1: to win, too. Let's win, shall we? I hope On
- 47:56Speaker 1: Tilt's watching this. Here are some props going into week
- 48:00Speaker 1: one of the NFL to go ahead and jump all
- 48:02Speaker 1: aboard the cash money train here. That's what Deshaun Watson makes,
- 48:09Speaker 1: just straight cash. I'm going with the under, though. Under
- 48:14Speaker 1: 177.5 yards passing. Because even if you think he plays well,
- 48:17Speaker 1: who's he throwing the football to?
- 48:18Speaker 2: Jerry Judy?
- 48:21Speaker 1: Give me the under here, and a very underwhelming performance
- 48:24Speaker 1: for Deshaun Watson as he gets booed at home as
- 48:26Speaker 1: they get trounced by the Jacksonville Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence.
- 48:30Speaker 1: I'm taking the under 177.5 passing. Meanwhile, Sam Darnold.
- 48:32Speaker 2: Over. Over.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Got the rematch against New England coming up on Wednesday.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Over 228.5. I like what I see from Seattle. You know,
- 48:46Speaker 1: they had the joint practice here in Nashville. They had
- 48:48Speaker 1: the preseason game where the starters didn't play. Didn't need
- 48:50Speaker 1: to because they have Sam Darnold at quarterback. And their
- 48:53Speaker 1: backups are good enough to beat the Titans starters. That
- 48:56Speaker 1: means their starters are good enough to beat the Patriots
- 48:58Speaker 1: starters in this game in the rematch as they put
- 49:02Speaker 1: the championship flag up for their Super Bowl victory. Sam
- 49:04Speaker 1: Darnold over 228.5. And let's go with the other quarterback
- 49:08Speaker 1: that is in the matchup between the Rams and the 49ers.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Brock Purdy, under 245.5. I just think the number's too
- 49:15Speaker 1: high there. I think in week one, they're going to
- 49:18Speaker 1: run the football a lot better with their healthy running
- 49:20Speaker 1: backs in San Francisco. Everything's kind of a short passing
- 49:23Speaker 1: game anyway. I realize they have receivers that can take
- 49:26Speaker 1: the top off. But yeah, give me Purdy under. And normally,
- 49:32Speaker 1: I like taking the over under. I like taking the
- 49:35Speaker 1: under in a lot of these games in the totals. Um,
- 49:38Speaker 1: it just for week one, I don't think the offense
- 49:40Speaker 1: is generally down early in NFL seasons. Um, although we
- 49:45Speaker 1: are starting to see more starters play across the, across
- 49:47Speaker 1: the league in the preseason, a lot of joint practices
- 49:51Speaker 1: now compared to what we used to see Chad, but offense,
- 49:54Speaker 1: offense and scoring, um, it's routinely slow out of the
- 49:59Speaker 1: gate for, for many teams. So I don't think I'll
- 50:02Speaker 1: be taking many overs. The one I am taking though,
- 50:04Speaker 1: is Sam Donald to, uh, pick up where he left off.
- 50:09Speaker 2: I like it. Advantage at defense early in the season
- 50:12Speaker 2: is what you're telling us right now, right?
- 50:14Speaker 1: Pretty much, yeah. And that's the case going on several
- 50:19Speaker 1: seasons now. I don't feel bad about just taking the
- 50:22Speaker 1: whole slate of under and see if you can come
- 50:26Speaker 1: out victorious on the winner's end of things.
- 50:29Speaker 2: So, Hutton, we've got games tonight in college football also.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Are you ready for this slate of games? What do
- 50:34Speaker 2: we have? We've got San Jose State. We're going to
- 50:38Speaker 2: do a parlay right now. We're just on the fly.
- 50:41Speaker 2: I've got the Hard Rock Bet app up right now.
- 50:44Speaker 2: We've got San Jose State at Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti.
- 50:47Speaker 2: Eastern Michigan is a two-and-a-half point favorite. We saw San
- 50:50Speaker 2: Jose State play well in the second half against USC.
- 50:53Speaker 2: I know nothing about Eastern Michigan. Who are we taking, Hutton?
- 50:56Speaker 2: Eastern Michigan at home?
- 50:57Speaker 1: There will be more fans at this game than their
- 51:00Speaker 1: previous game, so I think the noise will get to them.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Let's take Eastern Michigan.
- 51:05Speaker 2: I love that. I love that rationale too. North Carolina
- 51:08Speaker 2: A & T at Georgia State. Georgia State a 28.5
- 51:13Speaker 2: point favorite. It feels like a 28 point game. I
- 51:16Speaker 2: think Vegas knows what they're doing right here. Let's take
- 51:18Speaker 2: North Carolina A & T plus the 28.5. Big number, right?
- 51:21Speaker 2: Let's start a new rivalry. Let's do it. Indiana State
- 51:25Speaker 2: at Purdue. Purdue is a 35.5 point favorite.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Purdue lost to Rutgers last year.
- 51:33Speaker 2: Purdue's been bad. They've been very bad. Let's go Indiana State.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Let's go Indiana State. Plus the big number. Why not?
- 51:41Speaker 2: Let's do it. Toledo at Michigan State. Toledo, not bad.
- 51:45Speaker 2: A good group of six team in the MAAC. And
- 51:48Speaker 2: they are only a 10.5 point underdog at Michigan State.
- 51:52Speaker 2: I would lean Spartans on this one to win by
- 51:55Speaker 2: more than 10.5.
- 51:58Speaker 1: Is there anyone on the sideline scouting for Michigan in
- 52:01Speaker 1: this game? In week one.
- 52:03Speaker 2: We don't know Connor Stallion's whereabouts, so could be.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Let's take Michigan State.
- 52:08Speaker 3: Okay.
- 52:08Speaker 2: Going to go Michigan State. Long Island is at Kansas.
- 52:12Speaker 2: Kansas a 42.5 point favorite. Kansas. Kansas 42.5, all right? Yes.
- 52:18Speaker 2: UTEP is at Oklahoma. Oklahoma a 41.5 point favorite. Oklahoma.
- 52:23Speaker 2: They're going to win huge in this game. Miami and Stanford, right?
- 52:29Speaker 2: I've already bet Miami, minus 24.5. All right, going Miami
- 52:33Speaker 2: with that one. Fresno State at USC. USC's a 21.5-point
- 52:38Speaker 2: home favorite against Fresno State. I kind of think that
- 52:41Speaker 2: they're going to respond with all the negative talk about
- 52:43Speaker 2: the crowd. I think they blow Fresno State out. You
- 52:46Speaker 2: want to go USC?
- 52:47Speaker 1: I'm going USC because you want to go that direction.
- 52:51Speaker 1: To me, there will be less fans in attendance for
- 52:53Speaker 1: this game after the way they responded this week. Have
- 52:56Speaker 1: they rallied the crowd? Is Will Ferrell the sideline for this?
- 53:00Speaker 2: Hutton, that is right there, an eight-leg parlay, okay? $ 5,
- 53:05Speaker 2: $ 5 bet. Let's go. Will net us $ 860. Let's go.
- 53:09Speaker 2: If we are to win all eight of those games.
- 53:12Speaker 2: The bet is in. Here we go.
- 53:14Speaker 1: Hey, run through who we're taking again for me.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Oh, goodness. Let me pull it up. We are going
- 53:19Speaker 2: Eastern Michigan minus two and a half. Yes, yep. North
- 53:22Speaker 2: Carolina A & T plus 28.5. Indiana State plus 35.5.
- 53:24Speaker 2: Michigan State minus 10.5. Kansas State minus 42.5. Oklahoma minus 41.5.
- 53:27Speaker 2: Stanford plus 23.5. And USC minus 21 and the hook.
- 53:28Speaker 2: $ 5 bet, $ 865 in possible winnings. Let's go. Would you
- 53:30Speaker 2: like to see or hear what Deion Sanders had to
- 53:31Speaker 2: say last night?
- 53:32Speaker 1: I would. I've got it pulled up right here for us.
- 53:55Speaker 2: Well, I did. One second.
- 53:57Speaker 1: More or less, he said, I thought they were going
- 53:59Speaker 1: to run all over us. I thought we were small.
- 54:01Speaker 1: He was like mocking the media.
- 54:03Speaker 2: Well, he must have been listening to us because that's
- 54:05Speaker 2: exactly what we said. I thought they were going to
- 54:07Speaker 2: get run all over, too. Well played. Well played, Deion.
- 54:10Speaker 2: You proved us wrong.
- 54:11Speaker 1: That's what I expected.
- 54:12Speaker 2: Now go do it throughout the season. But I'm disappointed
- 54:15Speaker 2: in Georgia Tech. And honestly, surprised by Colorado. He's right.
- 54:19Speaker 2: I mean, they– They looked far better than I expected
- 54:22Speaker 2: them to look in that game, and they physically were
- 54:25Speaker 2: able to run the football. They got some tiny, quick
- 54:27Speaker 2: running backs, but that was effective against that Georgia Tech defense.
- 54:33Speaker 1: Postgame comments. Sanders fired back at critics regarding his team size, stating, quote,
- 54:37Speaker 1: we rushed for 183 yards.
- 54:38Speaker 2: My God.
- 54:39Speaker 1: They rushed for 51. I thought we were small.
- 54:44Speaker 2: It's pretty good. My God. My God. They rushed for
- 54:48Speaker 2: 51 yards.
- 54:50Speaker 1: That's what he says. Felt like it. He also told
- 54:54Speaker 1: his team to clean up the locker room before they
- 54:56Speaker 1: were allowed to leave, which I appreciate. They didn't trash
- 54:59Speaker 1: the Georgia Tech locker room, so no one had to
- 55:01Speaker 1: clean up after them.
- 55:03Speaker 2: I love that. When teams do that or they're well-behaved
- 55:06Speaker 2: when they're in the hotel and clean up after themselves,
- 55:09Speaker 2: it leaves a great impression when that happens.
- 55:12Speaker 1: I'm surprised that the media was able to quote him postgame.
- 55:16Speaker 2: Georgia Tech Hutton had 288 yards. They had 237 passing
- 55:21Speaker 2: yards and 51 rushing yards in that game.
- 55:23Speaker 1: We're talking about Georgia Tech here, too.
- 55:28Speaker 2: Alberto Mendoza looks just like his brother, by the way.
- 55:31Speaker 2: He does. We must talk about this. Behind the helmet
- 55:34Speaker 2: and the way he moves is exactly like Fernando. He's
- 55:37Speaker 2: definitely been watching his older brother play.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Fernando Mendoza, who is making $ 4 million more than the
- 55:45Speaker 1: highest-paid quarterback this year in college football. Every other rookie
- 55:51Speaker 1: in the NFL is making less than the top-paid quarterbacks
- 55:55Speaker 1: in college football.
- 55:57Speaker 2: That's insane. By the way, only one turnover in that
- 56:00Speaker 2: game last night, too. Georgia Tech with a fumble. So,
- 56:03Speaker 2: pretty clean game from a turnover standpoint.
- 56:05Speaker 1: Chad, let's have a weekend, shall we?
- 56:07Speaker 2: Let's do it. It's time. It's time to bang some hats, everyone.
- 56:11Speaker 2: Let's get it done this weekend. Let's win. Let's everybody
- 56:13Speaker 2: win this weekend. Let's go. Let's do it.
- 56:15Speaker 1: We are live on Monday, by the way.
- 56:17Speaker 2: Join us.
- 56:18Speaker 1: We are live Monday morning recapping all of the college
- 56:21Speaker 1: football weekend. Hope you will join us right here on
