- 0:39We got someone else new coming into the show and we'll see who
- 0:43we've got here. I know exactly what we've got
- 0:46here. I'm really excited about this
- 0:47one. This is going to be, this is
- 0:49going to be interesting and really.
- 0:51What I love is it's about giving value.
- 0:53And today? Today next here on this podcast,
- 0:57we're gonna talk all about value and value given.
- 1:00So please introduce yourself to the audience.
- 1:02Hello everyone, my name is Phil Esposito.
- 1:05I am Mondo's business Development branding manager.
- 1:08I love it. My title just got changed to
- 1:11National Business Development Manager.
- 1:12It was National Sales Manager, but the biz dev side is just
- 1:15much more my passion, man. So I appreciate anybody who's
- 1:18got this dev in there. Actually their title.
- 1:20Phil, you wanted to talk about something specific and I'm gonna
- 1:22put you in the spot because as I was previewing you, I'm a huge
- 1:26like my. I try to revolve my life around
- 1:29giving value and what you wanna talk about today is one of the
- 1:33biggest best. Value given things that I've
- 1:35seen from a company in our space in quite a while.
- 1:37Why don't you tell me? Tell us what I'm talking about.
- 1:39Yeah. That's great to hear.
- 1:41So you know, at Mondo we are, we're very passionate about the
- 1:45community. Obviously coaches play a huge
- 1:49role in our business. We want to help coaches.
- 1:52We want to help coaches help their athletes on and off the
- 1:54service. So this past year we produced a
- 1:58documentary on mental health in sports.
- 2:03And you know, again, mental health, it's in our face.
- 2:08We don't pretend to be the experts.
- 2:10However, we want to be the thought leaders in this.
- 2:15We want to help coaches. And so we put together a 45
- 2:19minute documentary on mental health and sports.
- 2:21We interviewed, we interviewed elite athletes, we interviewed
- 2:26sports psychologists, and we interviewed super fights and so.
- 2:31It was very, very interesting and we zeroed in on the role of
- 2:35the fan and how much pressure these fans are putting on these
- 2:38athletes. And so we had this documentary
- 2:41air all throughout the country during May Mental Health
- 2:45Awareness month. We had it on all the major
- 2:48networks, ABCABCCBS and I've gotten some really great
- 2:54feedback, especially from coaches and.
- 2:59You know what we want to do is we want to create a resource.
- 3:02So now this has become a resource who would So they will
- 3:05in turn share it with their athletes and it really is a
- 3:08conversation starter, you know and so we've we've sort of moved
- 3:14on to phase two. We don't want to do a one off
- 3:17and so we've moved on to phase two and we want to, we want to
- 3:21bring the conversation into the schools and so we've created a
- 3:24poster. Can I show you?
- 3:26Yeah. Please.
- 3:27That's what we got the video for.
- 3:28There we go. Normally it's audio only and I'm
- 3:30like, no, you can't show. Excellent.
- 3:32So we've created this poster. Yeah, lift it up just a little
- 3:36bit. There we go.
- 3:36Yeah, Stay on track. Stay on track.
- 3:39Stay on track. And the the track is an acronym
- 3:42and these are these are suggestions you know for
- 3:45athletes who are struggling. T take a moment or remember to
- 3:50breathe a ask for help. C Call a friend.
- 3:55And K keep moving forward and personally that's kind of my
- 3:58favorite. Yeah, so we're hoping coaches
- 4:01and we've got a couple of resources down below on the
- 4:03bottom and we're hoping coaches will put these up in their
- 4:07facilities. Again as a reminder that and we
- 4:11know that all these athletes do struggle at some point, that
- 4:15there is help out there. So let me ask you Phil, you know
- 4:19Mondo obviously very well known for track service, produces some
- 4:22of the top check service in the world.
- 4:26You know, it's funny, you in our industry in general, not in
- 4:30either of ours, but in general they talk about they sell socks
- 4:33and jocks. That's kind of the, you know,
- 4:34the sports marketing world, right?
- 4:37You sell track servicing. Why?
- 4:40Why do something like this? Why is mondo?
- 4:42I mean, this is not, I know what you're putting into this
- 4:45financially. This is not a cheap thing to do.
- 4:47Why? Why you could?
- 4:49If you didn't do this, no one would say, hey, how come Mondo
- 4:51isn't working, helping us with mental health, but you choose to
- 4:54do it without being asked? Yeah, it's our, it's our
- 4:57passion, it's it's community give back.
- 5:01It is again providing resources for coaches who are so vital in
- 5:08our business. And right so you have the coach
- 5:10and then you have the athlete. So if we can help the coach who
- 5:14you know in turn can help their athlete.
- 5:17That's what we're all that's, that's what we want to do.
- 5:19And you know we've got, you know Mondo's a strong brand in the
- 5:22track and field business, right. And so in the track and field
- 5:25world, we feel like we have a role to play in this.
- 5:28So it's something we're very passionate about.
- 5:33We're always looking to partner with like minded entities and
- 5:36we'll continue to do it. So is this in the umbrella of
- 5:39Mondo Cares? Because I know there's been a
- 5:41lot of events and activities. Through the mondo cares work.
- 5:45Through Mondo, yes. I'm hoping to remember the Mondo
- 5:46foot speed event here. Yes, of course I do.
- 5:49Some of we were talking about it earlier.
- 5:51Excellent. So we put together five or six
- 5:54events and then unfortunately COVID, we hit a brick wall with
- 5:58COVID, right. So we are going to be bringing
- 6:01back that event. In 23.
- 6:03Oh good. So we're very excited.
- 6:04Are you? Going to do it here at USDCA in
- 6:062023, Is that the plan at least for?
- 6:07Now, yeah. People are going to be very
- 6:09excited about that. Yeah, that's the plan.
- 6:11That's an amazing event. I mean, there's events and then
- 6:15there's just the different people that that we're talking
- 6:17about today. And that was a really fun event.
- 6:20You know to have to to have 1500 track and field coaches in that
- 6:27ballroom watching these young coaches compete.
- 6:32So the goal is to is to do it again.
- 6:35I love it. We'll wrap this up.
- 6:36Phil. Where is someone's listening or
- 6:38watching this right now? This will also be on the podcast
- 6:41later on throughout the year of 2023.
- 6:43Where can someone go to find more information about Tell me
- 6:46the name again of the film it was.
- 6:48I'm OK. I'm not.
- 6:49OK, I'm fine. Not really.
- 6:50I'm fine. Not really, yes.
- 6:52Where can someone go to learn more about that?
- 6:53The posters? Where can someone go to find out
- 6:55more? Information, so you can go to,
- 6:56you can go to the Mondo website, you can go to mondocares.com and
- 7:01obviously. All our social.
- 7:03Outlets. So Google, Mondo cuz that's the
- 7:07easiest way. Or mondocares.com.
- 7:10That's right. I love it man.
- 7:12You should take a time out right now and go check that out.
- 7:15I think it's extremely valuable. Again, the value that you're
- 7:18giving coaches cuz to me you hit the nail in the head and you
- 7:21said. Without these guys and gals, you
- 7:24and I don't do anything. We could do something else
- 7:26actually, right? Mondo doesn't exist.
- 7:27The Gil doesn't exist. You know, we need to be uplifted
- 7:31and honoring these young men and women and these old.
- 7:33As they continue building the greatest sport in the world, so
- 7:37just love that what you're doing it was an easy you know when we
- 7:41we talked about doing this in the podcast 100% easy.
- 7:43This is a way that we can hopefully help fan the flames
- 7:47and and have more awareness out there for this very important
- 7:49topic that you're talking about and these very important.
- 7:51People love what you're doing, right?
- 7:53Your passion for track and field And no, just super, super glad
- 7:57to be here. I love it, man.
- 7:58Well, even for you, we got to end with a selfie.

- 8:16Phil, all that good that he does.
- 8:18And he was trying to take my headphones away from me here at
- 8:21the desk. So that wasn't very nice.
