- Kiki George: What happens when you need to give it up? Had about enough. It's not hard to see. The boy is mine. This is the Minor Mischief Podcast, and this is the case of Krista Pike. Welcome back to another episode of the Minor Mischief Podcast. Are we on episode 22 or 23 right now? I don't know, but I'm feeling pretty good about it. I'm your host and homegirl for the time being, Mrs. Kiana Amir, and thank you for hanging out with me. Today's case, I have to be honest with y'all. Towards the end of the show, I'm gonna get lazy. There was just so much to unpack. There was just so much going on. There was so much tomfoolery. I was just like, I gotta end it here or else I'm gonna be yapping for three hours. And I don't want that for y'all. And I know y'all don't want that for y'all. My other option was doing half of the story this week and half of the story next week. And I am not a cliffhanger type of girly, so I'm not gonna do that to y'all either. So towards the end, and it's probably gonna be obvious, I'm gonna say, okay, we're gonna go past this real quick, because you know, in the interest of time. But I feel like we've discussed this in the past. And I need young ladies, old ladies, young hoes, old hoes, spring chickens, and and and tarnished chickens. I want everybody to hear me out. Maintain your peace. Don't crash out over no man. There are others in the sea. And if you're not interested in the others, please simply find interest in yourself. With that being said, let's get into today's story. Shall we? We shall. Today we are introduced to Krista Pike, who is our mischief maker, and Colleen Summer, who is the star of our show, but also unfortunately our victim. There are also two other mischief makers that we don't get into a whole lot, named to Daryl Ship and Shandela Peterson. They are a part of the story as well. Today's story takes place in two locations. So I'm really only going to introduce the first one, but when we transition to the other location, I'll make it obvious: like, hey, we're moving over here now. So Let's take nothing with us and hop on a plane, train, or automobile to West Virginia. Beckley, West Virginia, to be specific. Beckley, West Virginia is a town of a little over 17,000 people in southern West Virginia. It sits just north of the border connecting West Virginia with Virginia and Kentucky. Beckley is known for its rich coal mining history and is a hub for Appalachian arts and crafts. I have driven through West Virginia one time and baby, I felt like I floored it the whole time. I felt like something was gonna jump out at me. I felt like I was gonna see a skinwalker or a creature. Cause it was at night. And I think we all collectively feel the same way about the Appalachian Trail. It's a hell no for me. But shout out to y'all in West Virginia, though. In West Virginia, we meet Krista Pike. Krista Gail Pike was born on March 10th, 1976, which is crazy because I have not one but two nephews with that birthday. So shout out to y'all. And she was born to her parents, Emile Glenn Pike, who goes by the name Glenn and Carissa Hansen. Krista does have one older sister named Alicia, who was Carissa's from a previous marriage. she had gotten married pretty young. She gave birth to Alicia. Her husband was horribly abusive. And so she left him and met Glenn. And you would think that would be better, but no, baby, it gets worse. Like many of our other mischief makers upbringing, Krista's upbringing was trash. Hot dumpster, fire, garbage, hot poop on a hot summer day. Her childhood was trash, marked with poverty, violence, abuse, and neglect. With one psychologist calling it the most extreme childhood that he has ever heard of. Her parents' relationship was extremely volatile and on again, off again. According to case files, Krista was born prematurely, and her mother, Carissa, was a nurse. So, Carissa, she was a nurse. She worked on the psychiatric floor, and she is about seven months pregnant and she's at work doing what she does. You know, she's trying to make money. She has kids to take care of. She has Alicia at this point, who's five, and she's pregnant with Krista. And so she's taking care of a patient, and the patient Beats her ass, attacks her, and sends her into premature labor. And so because they're just like, okay, we gotta get this baby out of here. Your heart rate's incredibly high. She has an emergency C-section. And Krista was born two months early, but baby girl already weighed five pounds and six ounces. She would have been a 13-pound baby for sure. Like, there's just no way. And I know usually, well, I can't even say usually because I've heard stories. But usually when, or my assumption is, because by the grace of God, I have not had a NICU baby, but my assumption is based off of what I would do. If I had a baby in the NICU, I would be with my child. I'm staying with my child. I do know some hospitals don't allow the mothers to stay overnights. That's all well and good. But as soon as I can come back, I'm staying with my child. Carissa did not. She didn't. Number one, she was going through Horrible postpartum depression. She had just endured this attack that sent her into labor. Now she has a baby in the NICU and they don't have anything ready. They have nothing prepared. What I will give Carissa credit for, though, is like many of the mothers in our other mischief maker stories, they were not there for their kids because they were off getting high. They were off chasing men. They was off prostituting. Carissa wasn't doing any of that. Like, yes, she did drink and she smoked a little weed, but. The story does conflict a little bit because she swears she never smoked during her pregnancy or drank during her pregnancy. And Glenn says she smoked and drank regularly during her pregnancy. So I don't know who to believe, but I am led to believe Carissa because Glenn is a piece of shit. But Carissa wasn't doing any of that. She was not there for Krista simply because she had to go back to work. She returned to work three weeks after she gave birth to Krista. And because Krista was in the NICU, she had to be in a specialty hospital, and the hospital was very far from their house. So she just simply did not have the means. And I'm not making excuses for her because the truth of the matter is you do what you gotta do for your kids, but also she's just like, I have to make money. I can't, and this is why I say Glenn's a piece of shit. Cause why is your wife worried about that? While you're not, is a problem. But I digress. So Carissa, worked. Doubles. So during the week she worked 9 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday, and she worked 12 hour shifts on the weekends. And when I read her work schedule, I was I'm tired from just talking about it. And I only have one job. So word on the street via the psychologist report that was done on Krista after the events that unfold. Glenn was a beer-drinking freeloader while Carissa worked all the time. But y'all ain't hear that from me. Because of this, Krista was taking Care of mostly by her grandmother on her father's side, Delpha. Delpha moved in with Carissa and Glenn temporarily to care for Krista. And eventually she just stayed to help raise Krista because she's just like, okay, my son is a piece of shit. Like, let's just call it what it is. And then she was just like, my daughter-in-law is working all the time. And so somebody has to be here for this baby. Delpha was said to be more of a mother to Krista than Carissa, just by the sheer amount of time. That she spent with her. Carissa reported that during Krista's first year of life, she only had 12 days off the entire year. I'm glad she had a good relationship with her grandmother because we know how the father's side of the family can be. However, in the case of Krista Pike, it was her mother's side of the family that was. The ghetto, the ghetto in our Nene Leak's voice. And I'm gonna tell you about them right now. Krista's maternal family was plagued with issues. Carissa was said to be someone that didn't really know how to keep house. And I don't know if that's an offensive term or not, but you know. And in Krista's infant and toddlers years, the house was freaking disgusting. Like there were just dirty dishes everywhere, dirty laundry everywhere. They had a dog and the dog would just Poop and pee everywhere. And so there was just mounds of poop. And she's a baby. She's crawling. So she's just crawling around these little poop piles. And I'm like, Glenn, you weren't working. Why did you not clean the house? Like, I have dated a beer drinking freeloader before, but that man at least cleaned. The house was always clean. Carissa's parents, Zola and Chris Photos, would care for Krista when needed ever since she was a very young age. And Chris, he He was like Glenn. Like he was trash too, based on the things I've read about him. I'm not even gonna hold you. And throughout Krista's childhood, Chris photos her grandfather was addicted to painkillers. And so he owned this like butcher house. And whenever Krista would work and Delpha was unavailable, and of course Glenn, he ain't really doing nothing for his kids, Carissa would take Krista and Alicia over to her parents' house while she worked. And Chris, her father Would just have like them out at the butcher house. Mind you, Krista like four and five years old. He is killing animals in front of her, disemboweling animals in front of her. And as children, you know, when we look at animals like we don't look at our plate and be like, that's a real chicken. It's just like, I know this is chicken. I know that's a chicken, but you don't correlate the two, in my opinion. And so he's just slaughtering these animals in front of her. And because she was spending time at their farm. She loved the animals. Like she named them. She developed relationships with them. And she even one time like placed an image, like a picture, on one of the animals' heads so that she could remember, like, okay, this is, and I'm making up names here. This is Dorothy the cow and this is Peppa the pig. And he would be feeding her Dorothy and Peppa on her dinner plate. That did happen to me though when I was a kid. That did happen to me. My dad used to keep animals behind his house. And of course, you guys know my family's from Trindad and Tobago. And so my dad lived in Tobago because he just he came to America with my mom. He seen all he had to see. And he was like, I'm going right back to Tobago. And so I would visit him sometimes. Like, you know, sometimes I did school down there. And sometimes I spent summers with them. And so I remember one time, this was when I was going through a school year. I was about in third grade. And he had an animal. I can't remember what type of animal it was off the top of my head right now. He had an animal in a cage in the back and I named her Lisa. So I I was a very like precocious kid. Like I was very curious. I played a lot by myself because I'm far younger than all my siblings. And so me and Lisa, we used to play and we had a time. And then one day I was at my uncle's house and I came back. Lisa was gone, honey. And my dad had cooked dinner because my dad was a phenomenal cook. And I'm like, dad, this is really delicious. Like, what's on my plate? You know, this man looked at me and laughed and said, Lisa. It was very delicious though. But I couldn't imagine seeing him kill this animal and then put it on my plate. That would be a problem for me. Now, Zola, Krista's grandmother and Carissa's mother, she was a piece of work herself and she was a raging. Alcoholic. She would yell and curse at Krista. She would tell her that she was a liar and that she would burn in hell. Everything is the devil to you, mama, in my Bobby Boucher voice. You know, she would often get drunk and lash out at the girl. She would lash out her at her kids. She would lash out at her daughters, at her sisters. And it was not only verbally lashing out, but physically as well. Like At any given time at her grandparents' house, it was Hollywood freaking deathmatch. And Krista was there to see all of it. Back to Glenn and Carissa. Krista spent very little form of her formative years with both of her parents for the simple fact that, like I said, her mom worked all the time and Glenn could not keep a job. He got fired from the post office because he could not wake up early enough to make it to work. Oof, I know somebody like that, y'all. It's me. It's me. Thankfully, I've never been fired for being late, but praise the Lord. It's me. I have a hard time getting up for work in the morning. But guess what? I'd make sure that it's never more than 15 minutes. Glenn and Carissa divorced in 1977 when Krista was about a year old. And Carissa comes home after a long day of work. Mind you, she gets off of work at midnight. She has to drive home. She's coming home. She's like, my gosh, I just worked a long day on the psych ward. And she walks in the house and finds Glenn in their bed with another woman. So she divorces him. She divorces him. She's like, you know what? I'm good. I'm good on you. You're no help with the kids anyway. I'm good. And then Carissa kind of went into a spiral after that. And she tries to kill herself by overdosing on pain medication. And Glenn came to be with her in the hospital. And this she figures, my gosh, he really cares about me. He really took his time to check on me. He's a changed man. He's a good man, Savannah. And I was like the birdest of the brains. Cause the man was literally, he didn't help you with your older daughter. He didn't help you with the daughter that he had. Like he was cheating on you. Instead of taking care of his kids, his mom was taking care of his kids. And he was cheating on you with somebody in your bed. I'm sorry. You cannot come back from that, in my opinion. But you know, teach their own. So Carissa, you know, she's like, my gosh, like. And to that, I say, don't ever give someone a second chance, ladies. They will do you so much worse the second time around. I have lived it. I'm telling you. Spoiler alert, they got remarried, they did well for another two years, and then they divorced because Glenn moved out, didn't tell Carissa nothing. He just disappeared one day. And They had a family dog, like I mentioned earlier, and the dog apparently went missing. So the story is the dog goes missing, Glenn goes missing. Carissa finds Glenn in this dilapidated trailer. And so she's just like, I know that ain't my dog. I hear barking inside. So she's banging on the door, like Glenn, I know you're in there, and I know you. Girl, a pregnant woman answers the door. Who are you looking for? I'm looking for my husband, Glenn. Your husband? You mean my fiance, Glenn, the father of my baby, Glenn? Spoiler alert, Glenn and Carissa got divorced. She never got the dog back. And Glenn married the side piece. Glenn was the OG Jonas Gamora. I don't know if you guys have watched the polygamist. If you haven't watched it and please report back, Glenn was the original Jonas Gamora. Period. So they get divorced and Carissa's like, screw you guys, I'm going home. And she leaves Glenn. Regardless, Delpha stayed and she lived with Krista and Carissa and Alicia until Krista was about two years old. And then Delpha finds herself in love with a traveling. I don't know if he was a truck driver. I don't know what he did for a living, but he traveled. And his name was Ernest Johnson, I believe. I know his first name was Ernest. Johnson is questionable because I didn't write it down, but his name was Ernest. And throughout her life, Crystal would go visit Delpha and Ernest. Like she would go on trips with them, she would go to Florida with them. You know, whenever they had a chance, and you know, she was out of school, she was right there with grandma Delpha and Grandpa Ernest, who did eventually get married. Delpha was often referred to as the only source of consistent love in Krista's life, but what did Tawanda Braxton used to say? However, comma, Ernest was sexually abusing Krista. So she's sitting here traveling all this time with them, whole time she's being sexually abused by her grandfather. I don't know if Delpha knows or knew, but she passed in 1988. And after that, Krista just kind of kept going back and forth between Glenn and Carissa. And Carissa got remarried several times. And they would move and move. And move and move. They move from West Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, back and forth, back and forth. Kentucky, I think they lived in for a while. And her mother married and remarried. Her father married and remarried, gained and lost jobs. Her mother married and remarried. And throughout all this, Krista is like spiraling because the person that she loved the most is gone. The person that was a safe space for her is gone. She did have an aunt Carrie that would take her and Alicia to her house sometimes, sometimes for like, you know, just a peaceful night and a hot meal. And Carrie stated that she never trusted Krista around her kids just because of her behavior. But at the same point in time, she understood that her behavior was stemming from just all the stuff that she had been through in her very short period of life. And so Carrie opted, like, you know what? Instead of me coming over there to see you guys, because your house is filthy. Krista, Alicia, you guys can always come and spend time with me, not a problem. And Carrie said that when Krista came to visit her, she was a well-behaved young lady. And all she did was play dolls with her 11-year-old cousin. And so with all the moving, with all of the just back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, Krista is like her grades are suffering so bad because she has no stability. All of what was going on was highly disruptive. To her academically, and she began performing poorly in school because of it. And so she is between the ages of nine and eleven. And again, she's moving back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And so at this point, they move into like this trailer, and she used to babysit for a family down the street. And she would just walk from their trailer to the family's house. It was not a big deal. She was babysitting two little girls. And on one of her walks to the house, she was snatched and raped by a neighborhood sex offender named Danny. And nobody believed her. After it happened, she told her mom, she told her sister, they called her hypersexual. Case closed, nobody believed her. So it's like she's going through all of this, she's in all this turmoil. And in addition, she's living with her mom and her husband. And her mom's husband is horrible to her. And their living conditions were horrible. Like their trailer was like dilapidated. There's like holes in the floor, there's rats and snakes. There's just all this stuff. And so her mom's dating this guy. His name is Steve. And he, like I said earlier, he just did not care about Krista and Alicia. To the point where he had his own kids. He had two children of his own and they all lived in this raggedy-ass trailer. And and this is no shade to anybody that lives in a raggedy-ass trailer. Like life happens. I get it. But He would do for his kids. Like he would come home with McDonald's and Burger King and whatever for his kids and he would leave Krista and Alicia there to starve. And so eventually Carissa's like, you know what? I'm not about to treat your kid, I'm not about to sit here and allow you to keep treating my kids like this. And he's just like, Okay, well, you can leave because my kids think you're too strict anyway. And so they break up. And unfortunately, he did not stay gone because him and Carissa continued to date on and off for the next 10 years. He lived in North Carolina. They're from West Virginia. So every time they got back together, she moved. Every time they broke up, she moved. They got back together, she moved. They broke up, she moved. And so in 1989, Carissa finally is done with this man and she starts dating this new guy, Mr. Kiaw. And so they moved back to North Carolina to be with him. Immediately, he begins sexually and physically abusing Krista. And he was described honestly as a sexual deviant. Like he moved into their house with boxes and boxes of porn, just out in the open. Hey, he would basically take Carissa whenever he wanted. Like they would just be sitting on the couch. He'd be I need that now. And they would just start having sex in front of the kids. Or and this is Krista's account. So, you know, Carissa, if you ever listen to and this is not the truth, sound off in the comments. But this is Krista's account based on what I read. She was just like, they would be having sex with the door open. They'd be having sex in the middle of the room. Like it was just, it was such a hypersexualized environment already. And then he moves in and he starts doing things like, hey, Krista, you wanna wrestle? And so she'd be like, sure, we could play WWE or whatever. Cause who didn't as a kid? Not with a grown ass man, but who didn't, right? And so like they would be playing these games and he would do things like put her on his lap and she could feel, you know, his erection. He would like be touching on her breast, over the shirt, under the shirt. He would really just like make up these little games so that he could touch and feel on her. And so, of course, she told her mom, nothing happened. And I'm like, Carissa, baby girl, you lost the plot. Cause if you thought Glenn was bad because he was cheating on you, if you thought the other dude was bad because he was not feeding your kids, you go into a situation with someone that is. Molesting your child, like you have lost the plot. And so Krista tells him. Like she she tells her mom, her mom does nothing. And so he gets arrested because Krista's like, I'm not gonna be quiet about this. So she tells someone who was unnamed, they alerted the police. He gets arrested, and Carissa bails his ass out. Bails him out. Now there was an order of protection placed. by law enforcement because of the allegations that Krista made. So he couldn't move back in the house with them. But Carissa continued to see him. Like, girl, you lost the plot, Carissa. Like, that's where you lost me. I had your back in the beginning, but here, girl, you lost the plot. Being single is not a lost art. You have two daughters, and your daughter has been through so much, and you want to keep just fucking around. I don't I don't get it. Regardless, Krista, because of these allegations and because of everything going on in her mom's house, she moves in with her dad. And so she's living with her dad and Sh her two-year-old sister, because remember her dad remarried his side piece. They have kids now. And so her two-year-old sister is just like, you know, dad kind of touches me in a way that I don't appreciate. And so Carissa is just like, not Carissa, Krista is just like antennas on 10 immediately because she's just like, I have to protect you. Because she had been through it so many times. She went through it with Ernest. She went through with her grandfather. She went through it with. Mr. Kia, she went through it so many times. She went through it with the random ass dude from down the street. She's like, No, I have to protect you. And so she confronts her father. She's just like, How could you do that? How could you touch my sister like this? Like, we're not about to keep doing that. And you know what Glenn does? He puts her out. He puts her out. He puts her out. And mind you, this is all right after the death of the only person. That she loved. And so Krista at this point, she's like, she gives up. She she gives up. She's like, I what else am I supposed to do? And she starts cutting up. She gets bucked wild. And this is not to make excuses for her behavior, but I her family, in my opinion, did not give her the proper support after her grandmother died. They did take her, you know, to see like a psychiatrist. She was put on psychiatric medication. She was diagnosed bipolar. All of that did happen. But I Nowhere in here did I see just someone being there for her, just saying, like, you know what? You have been through a lot. And I get it. I get it. Because when you're dealing with a troubled child, there's so many things to consider. You cannot love anybody past their point of pain. And it is hard because I don't want to bring you into this environment. Now you're lashing out at me because it it takes time. It takes time for them to develop that trust with you. It takes time for them to want to stop running away. It does take time, but I'm like, did anybody even put one foot in front of the other to develop that trust with her? To say, you know what, baby, I got you. And I feel like this would have been a great opportunity. Even though Carissa worked all the time, she should have just provided a safer environment for herself and her daughters. That man should not have been in their house. She should not be moving back and forth for no f for no man. I'm sorry, I'm getting enraged because I don't like that. But that's not where our story ends. Krista just gave up. It's draining. She's drained. She's tired of going from house to house. She's tired of people not listening to her. She's tired of being physically abused. She's tired of being sexually abused. She's tired of being verbally abused. And so she starts lashing out. Regardless of reason, Krista was acting a natural fool. A plum fool, if you're willing to say. It just seemed like Glenn was a horrible father to her, to be quite honest. And it wasn't giving F for me, I felt like he handled those. He should not have put her out. In my opinion. I don't know what else was going on around the time. I know that they said she was cutting up, but when he was questioned, all he said is, Well, she accused me of molesting my daughter. And I get that that's a harsh accusation, but why put her out? Why not just sit and talk to her about it? If that's not what you were doing. Typically when allegations like that come, especially from a two-year-old, I'ma side with the two-year-old. Cause what do you know about lying about this? But I feel like Glenn was like, You're messing up my meal ticket. Like my wife treats me good. We have kids. We have this beautiful house. Don't mess this up for me. That's what it's giving to to Kiana personally. But From there, after she left her father's house, he signed adoption papers relinquishing his rights to her. And then Krista moved into a youth home called Swannoa youth home. And then her mother married this man named Glenn Hansen, which is why she's Carissa Hansen nowadays, and she finally found someone that could give her that stability. Like by all accounts, Glenn Hansen was a good man to her. And so, you know. But it apparently was a little too late because Krista was already like she admitted that she loved Glenn. She admitted that he was a great stepfather to her and he was good to her mother and to her and her sister. But it was just a little too late for her mentally and emotionally. And Alicia shared the same sentiments because Alicia actually moved out with the aunt Chrissy. What was her aunt's name? And now I gotta go back in my notes. It wasn't Chrissy. It started with the Carrie. She moved in with Aunt Carrie. So Alicia moved in with Aunt Carrie, and then Krista is just like, you know, I'm glad mom is happy, and so forth and so on. But, you know, I'm already checked out mentally and emotionally. So Carissa didn't really have any rules in place for Krista during her, you know, adolescent years. She was not a disciplinarian, nor was she a housekeeper. And Krista was pretty much able to do whatever she wanted. And if you think there were limits, baby, think again. Carissa admitted to wanting more of a friendship with her daughter than an actual mother-daughter relationship. And so she said both of them they would often smoke weed together. And Krista had been growing weed in like pots in their home since she was nine years old. They would also grow weed at the farm that her grandparents own. And I have told y'all about smoking weed before your frontal lobe is developed. I get it. Children, I get it. Like you're curious. You're just like, I wonder what this is like. I don't feel like anybody should do drugs before their frontal lobe is fully developed because it just makes you crazy, in my opinion. So by the time Krista was 14, she's dating this guy, and her mom let her boyfriend come live with them. And her reasoning was because Krista was just like, listen, this is my boo. We are in love. You're male-centered. You get it. If he can't move in here, I'm running away and I'm gonna go live on the streets. And Carissa was like, you know what? I would rather you be here where I can see you. So yes, he can move in. My daughter listens to this show. I'm gonna tell you right now, baby girl. It is a resounding no for me. Hell no for Lil Razzle Dazzle. If you want to threaten me with living on the streets, you might as well pack you a bag and head out the door. Don't even ask. Bye. And don't ask when y'all are of age either. You want to go live with the man, go find your own place. Simple. Because why would you be living with a man that can't pay rent? Why would you be living with a man that ain't got no money? Why would you be living with a man that can't help you? I don't understand the point. I don't get it. Now, granted, I have also been there. I have also been there. I have also lived, I told you, I have lived with a beer drinking freeloader before. So I get it. We don't talk about pre-common sense Kiki too much, but she did exist. She did exist. I have been there. And because of that, I am very, very, I don't want to say hard on my daughters, but I have conversations with my daughters about what to accept and what not to accept. And also knowing what to accept and what not to accept before you decide to pursue or a relationship with anybody. Know your likes, your dislikes, your yucks, your yums. Know all of that before you decide you want to date. Period. So Carissa and her boyfriend, I mean Krista and her boyfriend, please excuse me. They're living in the house. They're smoking weed. They drink a little bit. They're 14 years old. And apparently they get into a fight. And the word on the street is he hit her. And Carissa's, I guess she's like walking around the house. She's like, okay, what's all this commotion? And she catches Krista after this man with a butcher knife. Now, some sources say a butter knife, but I'm just like, why the hell would she be trying to stab someone with a butter knife? She is not me. That is something I would do, not Krista Pike. Now, this is not the end of Christa's issues with Krista. It just got worse. It was getting wusa and wusa. Krista would lie and steal and manipulate. She lied about going to school the whole time she had been dropped out. She would lie about taking money from her mother's purse and whole time. No, it wasn't me, mom. I would never take money from your purse whole time. The hundreds is in her back pocket, you know? And granted, I had done some stealing of my own as a kid, but never from my mother's purse. Y'all would not have known me. By age 16, Krista found herself pregnant, expecting her first child. But upon exam, she was told that the baby would be born with extreme deformities. So she Is talking to her mom. She's talking to her doctor. Granted, a little tidbit of information. Her mom works at the hospital. So she's talking to the mom. She's talking to the doctor. She's just like, guys, what should I do? And they both advise her to abort because they're just like, girl, like, you wanna you wanna take care of a baby with severe special needs? Like, I don't think you should do that, sweetheart. You should abort the pregnancy. So she terminated the pregnancy, but she was happy. With the prospect of being a mother. Like she had even stopped smoking and drinking to taking care of her child, but she never had the opportunity. And you know what the gag about all of that is? It was later revealed that Carissa and that doctor lied to her. The baby was perfectly healthy. There were no deformities. They coerced her into getting the abortion because Carissa didn't want her to have a kid. You know, simple. So by the 10th grade, Carissa was just like, not Carissa. Getting their names mixed up, I swear, is gonna put me in, like, is gonna put me in some trouble. So it's 10th grade time now. Carissa, not Carissa, Krista, Jesus. Sorry, Lord. Christa moved out to live on the street with her boyfriend of hers. I'm not sure if it's the same one that I mentioned earlier. But they're living on the streets, doing whatever they have to do, sleeping in cars, whatever. And then she gets locked up and she is sent to serve a year at a juvenile detention facility. And so while she's in Juvi, you know, they're learning about different programs that they're eligible for. And Krista developed an interest in the JobCore program. Now, JobCore, for those of you who aren't pushing 40 like myself and may not remember the program, is the original ICDC College. JobCore is the nation's largest residential job training and education program. It is a program that is provided at no cost to low-income 16 to 24 year olds. It's all free. And so basically, kids that want to take if they dropped out of school or if they're just looking to pick up a vocation, it brings them into this place. There's a dorm and they go to class, they live on campus. And they get to learn these skills. It's a six month program. And at the end of the program, many leave with their GED as well as vocational training to start working. So they can start a career in like computer sciences, nursing, nursing assistant. You know, they have all these different programs. And I don't know whose idea job core was because I do get it. Like on the outside looking in, it's a wonderful program. Troubled youth or youth that are just like, you know what, I don't want to do traditional school. I want to do a vocation. I already know what I want to do. They're able to go into this program and six months later, they're left with career skills, which I think is a wonderful thing. The problem is you have all of these different types of children. 16 to 24. Because the 24 year olds aren't kids. Like at this point, take a hike. Go to community college if you want it, you know? But you have all of these people from various backgrounds. A lot of them come from rough backgrounds, because remember, it's a low-income program. And you just put them all to live together, like College Hill. Of course, some stuff is gonna go down. We know how this is gonna go. I had three roommates in college, got into a fight with two of them. Only reason I didn't get into a fight with the third one is because I wasn't home enough. But I feel like it would have happened. And maybe I'm the problem. I don't know. But I don't do roommates. And so Krista, she's like, okay, she's looking into this job core program. She's like, okay, it's looking good. I'm liking what I hear. And so she goes back home after Juvie. She goes back home with her mom and she's like, Mom, I've learned about this program. It's called Job Core. I really want to be a nurse like you. Like, I think that I need to get my life together. The time of me just doing whatever I want to do, like This, I want to get back into school. I want to go into this program. I want to get my head on my shoulders and I wanna, I wanna get it done. And I'm sure this made Carissa happy because it's like, what do you mean my troubled child is like, Mom, I have a plan for my life. And so before she leaves for job poor, she's 17, and she's walking to the store one day, and this dusty man grabs her and pulls her into the woods and rapes her. Krista, however, she's not going down without a fight. And she picks up the nearest rock and starts whacking him. So he gets off of her, he runs away. She goes back home and she's like, Mom, you know, this awful thing has happened. Her mom does not believe her. Her mom's like, Krista, if you was out just having sex, just say, girl, you was out just having sex. Ain't no need to make up some man that dragged you into the woods. So Krista eventually goes to the hospital and a rape kit is performed, but there was no semen present. And so her mom's just like, Mm. I told y'all. But now what the hospital staff and detectives did say is just because there's no semen present does not mean that a rape did not occur. She did fight him off. So it's just it's extremely possible that she was able to fight him off before he could ejaculate in any way, shape, or form. So there's that. So it's the fall of 1994. Krista's 18 now. She's just like, you know what? I'm going to job court. I'm leaving all of this crap behind me. This could be a really great opportunity if I do it correctly. But like I said earlier, job court is a hotbed for criminal activity and drama. Jura. Okay. Stuff is bound to pop off. So Krista gets there and immediately she's like, y'all got me twisted. She is, she quickly asserts herself as I am not the one to be messed with. Anybody who wanna pop off. I don't mind swinging. So she is getting into fights. She is popping off at the mouth. She is being rowdy. She is being Krista. And it was funny because I had found this article on Reddit as I was looking up stuff for this case. And the Reddit thing was just like a bunch of pictures and stuff. And I was looking in the comments and somebody responded somebody had made a comment and they were just like, I know her. She beat me up at the Baskin Robbins once. Krista Pike, ladies and gentlemen. And I laugh so hard because I was just like, I would have kept that to myself. Ain't no way I'm getting on Reddit with my name and my picture saying that somebody beat me up at the Baskin Robbins. Won't happen. Regardless, Krista had gotten into so much trouble her first couple months at Job Corps that they're just like, girl, if this happened again, we're taking you out the program. So she's just like, All right, I gotta get my head on straight. I'm here for one reason and one reason only. And so Me and my homegirls, we gonna behave. So she's doing what she gotta do. And she, you know, is probably at the library studying or in the cafeteria doing whatever. And she meets a young man, Tadaryl shit. And like I said, because Krista is male-centered like her mama, she is quickly like, I need him. I want him. Gotta have him. So today was born in 1977, making him a year younger that Krista at the time. So he was 17 years old. And he was said to have a completely different upbringing than Krista. He came from a middle class two parent household in the suburbs of Memphis. And he joined Job Corps because he just did not want to go to traditional school. He was just like, Dad, this like going to school every day is really blowing minds. And his dad was like, Okay, well, you got to finish school. And so they sit and they chat, and he's just like, Okay, well, I guess I'll be going to Job Corps. He's like, I guess you will be going to Job Corps and when you come back home, you better be getting a job from Job Corps. And so he goes to Job Core to spread his wings and see what he may be interested in. And so him and Krista, they meet, they're smitten. She's like, I do not play about my ma'am, my ma'am, my ma'am, my baby, my baby, loving me down, spoiling me, driving me crazy. And her and today are quickly the talk of the job core streets. Like everybody knew, like, that's her man, that's his girl. We're not, we're not even coming in between that. And I'm not sure if this started prior to their relationship or if they developed this interest together. But Krista and today will become very obsessed with the occult. Very obsessed. And so they're doing things like playing with Ouija boards. They're like summoning demons, not in this house, but they are, you know, just doing all this stuff because that's what they're like, we have fully converted into Satanism. And Krista started wearing a necklace with a pentagram as part of her everyday attire. And they were in love, spending much of their free time together doing what dabblers and occult practices do, I guess. I don't know what that is, and I don't care. I just know there were Ouija boards present. And so their relationship was flourishing, except for Krista had a friend, right? A homegirl, somebody she knew, Miss Colleen Slummer from Florida. Now Colleen Slummer Is from Orange Park, Florida. I'm not sure of her biological father's last name, but she lived with her mom and her bonus dad, May and Raul Martinez. She was described as being an easy-going teenager who loved bowling. She loved shrimping with her bonus dad. She was easygoing, super easy to get along with, and overall pleasant to bree around. Dear God, she must have had a zest for life. Colleen loved computers. And she enrolled in Job Core because she wanted to get into computer science. She was just like, I don't want to do, you know, she had been done with high school. She's 19 years old. She's just like, I really want to do something with computers, but I want to get my feet wet first. I want to like see if I like it, maybe get some vocational training. And if I do, then I can really pursue this thing. And so her parents are excited for her, but they're just like, baby girl, do you have to go to job core? And she's like, yes, mom, yes, dad. Like, I really want to do this on my own. I want to, I wanna explore. I wanna live life. I wanna just, you know, I'll be at the dorms and I will just have such an amazing time. Like, I really need to do this for myself. I need to spread my wings. And they're just like, girl, you can do a computer science program at the community college. Like, why do you have to leave home? And she's like, Because I need to leave home. And so they hesitantly, you know, they throw her like a going away thing and they're just like, okay, baby girl, but please be safe. You're going to a place with a bunch of other kids. You're you're leaving our wonderful area of Orange Park, Florida, and you're going to Knoxville, Tennessee. Like, be safe, baby girl. Like, and she's just like, Y'all, it's six months. It's six months. Like, I will be fine. So she boards a bus the next day and she heads on to Job Court. And so she gets there. And immediately gets the ick because what I failed to mention earlier is that this particular job core campus was a rundown motel. Picture the roadway in. Is there any place worse? I feel like there may be. The America's Best. I don't know. Picture like that janky motel with the doors that open to the outside that you feel like people are living in and they have like furniture outside. Like picture one of those motels. And they just like cleared everyone out and was just like, okay, this is where we're gonna have our school. And so she gets there and she is immediately underwhelmed by what she is seeing. And so she calls home and she's like, Mom, I'm not gonna say you're right. And I am gonna stick it out, but it is ghetto. Like a white refrigerator. Like she was like, I can't. But she was just like, I'm gonna really keep to myself, I'm gonna mind my business, and I'm really just gonna go do what I gotta do. So She's at Job Cor, her and Krista become cool pretty quickly, you know, as girls do. And that's the one thing I can say. Like when I went to college and we all just got shoved into these dorms where nobody knew anybody, we all became cool. It's like, hey, none of us have friends here. Let's hang out. Let's chill. You know, clicks quickly formed, but overall, like those first maybe couple days, couple weeks, everybody was cool. And this was, you know, what happened with them. So, Krista, of course, she's like, this is my man to Daryl. To Daryl, this is my homegirl Colleen. She, you know, just got here. And he's just like, hey, you know, nice to meet you, blah, blah, blah. Now, apparently, I don't know exactly what happened. I did watch Death by Gossip, but I'm very skeptical when I watch true crime shows because I have come to the realization that they get a lot wrong. They get a lot wrong. So I'm gonna take this with a grain of salt, but in that particular show, They were saying that the argument basically started because Krista and Tadaryl were kind of like making out and Colleen made a comment and Krista kind of got on her case about it. And so she apologized to Krista and then she went to apologize to Tadaryl. But to Krista is walking up and all she sees is Colleen giggling with her man. And she's just like, I know the hell you not. And I think it was probably triggering for her because her mom had been cheated on so many times. So she's just I'll be damned. Like, you're not about to do this to me. And so Colleen immediately becomes public enemy number one to Krista. Genuinely. And if you ask the people that knew Colleen, they're like, Colleen was not in any way, shape, or form interested in to Daryl. She was just friendly to everyone. Like, and that's how she was described. She was described as just a real Pleasant girl. Like she respected everybody. She laughed with everybody. She was just, she was just cool and collected. And Krista ain't like that. So Krista immediately is just like, Te Daryl, I'm not playing with you. Colleen, you've been put on notice. But at the same time, Krista's just like, I can't really do too much because I'm on probation, right? Like she's on academic probation. And everything that Colleen and Tideryl did was placed under this enormous microscope by Krista. And at some point, today starts feeling bad, and he's just like, you know, let me go apologize to Krista because I genuinely like this is not even really the move. And so he goes and he's like, Hey, Krista, let's make amends. I mean, not Krista, Colleen. There's too many C names in this freaking episode. And so him and Colleen they become cool because, like I said, Colleen at this point is public enemy number one. Krista had already spread all these rumors about how she's a man stealer. And so you know how that does not blow over well typically in all female settings. And so Todaro's feeling bad. So he's just like, you know what, Colleen, I apologize about what's going on with Krista. I'm you're still cool by me. And let's just give it some time to blow over, right? Krista did not like that at all. At all. And so some sources say that Tadero was kind of just like wanting to ease Colleen's. Anxiety about everything. And other sources said that Colleen that Tadaryl befriended Colleen because he loved seeing Krista jealous. I'm not sure which one is the truth, but it could probably be both. Now, Krista is just like, you know what Colleen needs? She needs a well whooped behind. Why is she still talking to my man? And she felt in her heart, even though everybody around her was like, I don't even know if that's really what's happening. She's like, nah, Colleen gotta pay. She comes up with a plan to get Colleen off campus and really beat her ass about that man. At least that's what her friends thought. Unbeknownst to everyone, on January 11th, 1995, Krista, she's sitting in the dorm room of her friend, and her friend's name is Kim Iloilo. I probably said that wrong. It's spelled I-L-O-I-L-O. Iloilo. And she's just like, Kim, I'm gonna beat Colleen's ass. And Kim is just like, girl, why? And she's just like, I just feel mean. And she's like, I want to beat her to the point. Like, I want to kill her. And Kim was like, girl, you are so crazy. And Chris is like, yeah, that is crazy, isn't it? But something's gotta happen. Like, she is taunting me. I know it. Like, why is she still talking to my man? And so Kim's just like, girl, just let it go. Like, if you want to shake her up, rough her up a little bit, okay, but. You know, just let her be. Like this has been going on long enough. And so Krista's just like, I'm gonna talk to Colleen tonight. Like we we gonna chat. And so she approaches Colleen and she's like, Hey, listen, I think that we've been kind of on the wrong foot here lately. And how about we just head over to the Blockbuster video? Let's grab a movie, maybe some chips, something to drink, and we could just chill tonight. We could just talk and just kind of hang out tonight. And Colleen is probably relieved at this point because she's like, okay, because everybody has been so awful to me because of these rumors that you have spread. So of course, I'll go to the Blockbuster with you. I'm willing to make a bed with you. And about 8 p.m. that night, they go out. Colleen, Krista, to Daryl, and their friend Shidala, they head out to Blockbuster. And before leaving, Krista had placed in her pocket a miniature meat cleaver as well as a box cutter. And they walk over to and they're walking towards the blockbuster. Now, Colleen's mother was asked why she thinks her daughter was okay with going with Krista after their known beef. And she just said, you know what? That's who Colleen is. She's a peacemaker. She is somebody who would have loved to squash their beef. And and she just did not like rocking the boat. So that's who she was as a person. So they're walking toward the blockbuster, and Krista is just like Colleen. I had stashed this bag of weed by Tyson Park earlier. Why don't we go get it? And that way this movie's gonna be really good. And so Colleen's like, everybody let out a resounding hell yes! Let us go get this bag of weed and watch this movie and have a good night. And so they walked into the woods, headed towards Tyson Park, and they're over by the University of Tennessee campus because the University of Tennessee campus and the Job Corp. Campus and Knoxville are about 10 minutes walk apart. And so they're walking towards the woods. And, you know, people are just like, why didn't Colleen think it was weird that she's just like, I stashed this random bag of weed. But I'm like, they could not, had weed been found in their room, they would have kicked Krista straight out. Like, don't pass go, do not collect $200. So it's totally feasible for this to be the truth. And so the group is now walking. They're near the University of Tennessee Agricultural Campus, which is en route to Tyson Park. And no sooner than they start walking past this campus, Krista's in Colleen's face, yelling at her about this damn man who happens to be standing right there. And I really wish he would have said anything, anything to get her to diffuse. But he seemed like he was on her type of time. So what I'm about to say is completely it's Krista's own statement. They didn't, you know, usually there's kind of like usually I can find in the case notes like this is what we believe happened based on the evidence. I don't know if this is because this was 30 plus years ago or what, but the only thing I could find was Krista's statement about how the night went. And so this is Krista's statement. And she said that Colleen attacked her, y'all. She said they were walking fine, and Colleen attacked her. Y'all smart at what is that? What's that smell? my god, what what is that smell? What is that? It smells like BS. It smells like BS, Krista. It smells like BS. So she starts punching Colleen. She's smashing Colleen's head against the concrete. And her and Colleen are just sincerely going at it. And she's like punching her over and over and over. And she's smashing her head against the concrete. She's smashing her head against the her knee. And Colina's like, why are you doing this to me? Imagine someone that you thought was trying to make amends with you. And they're just like beating your ass at this point. You're just like, why are you doing this to me? She did not get an answer. She did not get an answer. So she's begging and she's like, please, Krista, stop. Like, I'm not gonna say nothing. I I can really just go back to the dorms with my bruises. If anyone asks, I'm just gonna I'm gonna say like I fell down the stairs, like I'm not even gonna report you. Like just please let me go. And the more Colleen talked, the more violent Krista became. So now she's kicking Colleen in her face and in her side. And so Krista finally, I guess she hears like a rustling in the woods or something. So she's like, Shadow, are you watching? Let me come over there. Let me see what's going on. And so Colleen's just like, okay, finally, this is my moment. So she is using all her strength and she's like slowly getting up off the ground. And she gets to her feet and she's like staggering. And before she could even take a few steps, Tederyl pushes her back down to the ground. According to Krista, she and Tadaryl held Colleen down until she stopped fighting and Shadala just stood lookout for anyone coming. So Krista at this point, I guess she gets tired of using her hands and she's like, I'm gonna make you pay Colleen. And she starts slicing Colleen's stomach. Then she starts stabbing her over and over and over and over. And Colleen is screaming in agony at this point. And Krista is just like, she's hearing voice in her own words. She's like, I'm hearing voices. In her head, these voices are telling her like you can't let her live. You can't let her live. She's gonna report you for attempted murder. You're gonna be in jail for the rest of your life. You can't let her live. You can't let her live. You can't let her live. And so she's just standing there, watching Colleen bleed out, listening to these voices in her head, like, don't let her live, don't let her live, don't let her live. And so Colleen is just like, okay. She starts getting back up again. And Krista's like, damn it, girl, why won't you die? And so at this point, she's begging for her life. She's begging. She's like, Krista, please let me go. I will walk off. I will leave here and go back to Florida. Like I'm good. I won't tell nobody. I'm not even gonna get my stuff. I would literally leave where we are standing right now and start walking back to Florida. Like, I will do whatever it takes to get out of this. Just let me go. I'm not gonna tell anyone. I'm not gonna tell anyone. And Krista is like, girl, shut up. Don't you get tired of talking? It's harder to hurt somebody when they're talking to you. Shut up. True story. And so Colleen is just like, please, Krista, like, please. And so Krista's like kicking her in the face. And Colleen's just like, what's your end game? Like, what are you gonna do to me? And Krista is just like looking at her. And she steps back. Not because she's just like, damn, what am I gonna do? But because she's just like, what if somebody sees me doing this right now? This gotta end now. This has already been going on for about 30, 60 minutes. This has to end now. So she goes over to Colleen. And she slices her throat. Colleen is still alive. She's still alive. And so she's like gurgling. She's like breathing. She's aspirating blood. She's like, Crystal, please just just call Nawama. We don't even have to tell nobody what happened. And mind you, there had been another attack on the University of Tennessee campus about a week or so prior. So Colleen's just like gurgling and she's just like, like, I will say it's the other person. Like, You don't even have to be a part of this. There's already somebody they're looking for. Like, let's just blame them. And Krista's like, girl, shut up. And so there's this loose piece of asphalt sitting nearby. And Krista grabs it and she bashes Colleen's head in with it. And so as she does that, the asphalt breaks into smaller pieces and she picks up the smaller pieces and just throws them at Krista's body again. And finally, Krista dies. And Colleen and Tadaryl take Krista's body, they drag it behind some bushes. Colleen said Tadaryl did this. Taderyl says Colleen did it, but one of them took a knife and carved a pentagram in Colleen's chest. Took her clothes off. And went about their business. They just went back. Went back to the dorm like nothing happened. So it's about 1015 now. And today, Krista, and Shandella make their way back to the dorm. And they sign back in. And everybody notices pretty quickly, like, okay, four of you guys left. Like we have the timestamp on four of you leaving, but only three of you came back. And if you're thinking that someone said something, that someone was just like, hey, where's Colleen? You'd be giving them way too much credit. Later that night, Krista walks into Kim's room and sis just stroll in like she came back from grabbing a late night snack. She stroll in like, girl, I just had the best night. How about yourself? And she turns to Kim because Kim's like, Okay, girl, tell me about your night. Like, did you win Colleen fight? She's like, Girl, I just killed Colleen. And Kim is like, Excuse me? Excuse me? Like, no, girl, you're joking. Like, where's Colleen? Should I go check on her? Like, is she okay? And Krista pulls a piece of Colleen's skull out from her pocket. And she said, Nope, here's a piece of her skull. I grabbed that as a souvenir. Put her on world's dumbest criminals immediately. Immediately. Police. So Kim's looking at her like, girl, you are way too casual talking about killing someone. And Krista's just like, yeah, girl, I slashed Colleen's throat six times. I beat her over and over. I hurled chunks of asphalt at her. And I really just smashed her head in with the asphalt. So her skull cracked. And I was able to keep a piece of it. Cause you know, I like a good souvenir. And she's just like, girl, she was begging. Like, could you believe she was begging? She would not stop talking. And so finally I took my bandana off and I just gagged her because I'm like, girl, shut up. And Kim is looking at her like, you are real casual about this. And she's just like, like she starts listing the weapons that she used. Like she was reading ingredients off the back of a friggin' general meal cereal box. She's just like, ooh, I took a meat cleaver and I was whacking her in the back with it. I used a box cutter on her throat. I gagged her. And then carved a pentagram in her chest. Cause you know, don't play with me. And as she's talking about all this, Kim is like, Krista's not crying. She wasn't shaking. She wasn't even acting nervous. She was smiling. She was dancing, like she said she was literally dancing around their rooms in circles. Like, girl, like I just killed Colleen. Like, could you believe it? La la la la la. Colleen's dead. Like, she this is how she's acting. And Kim is like, either this girl is a psychopath or she's lying. And I know she be lying. So, but she did pull that piece of skull out of her pocket though. So Kim is just completely like floored because she's like, I don't know what to do with this information. And so Krista's talking to her about it. And Krista's like, you know what, girl? It's been a long day of killing. You know what I mean? I'ma just go to bed. And she goes to bed. The next morning, they're all having breakfast. And Kim and Krista are sitting over, I guess, a Pop Tart and some orange juice. And she asked the question that I can honestly cannot believe had to be asked. Like, what'd you do with the other piece of her skull? Like, what'd you do with it? Did you are you do you still have it? And Chris is like, yeah, girl, it's in my pocket. She's like, I'm eating breakfast with it right now. Colleen is with us, y'all. I wish I was making that up, like legit how it happened. And so later the same day, she's in class and she's sitting next to another student. The other student's name is Stephanie Wilson. And she's just like, Stephanie, you see these brown stains on my shoes? That ain't mud girl. That's Colleen's blood. And then she pulls the napkin out of her pocket and wraps it, and she's like, And that's her skull. I killed her last night. Like I killed her dead. And so she proudly is repeating this over and over and over and over throughout the day. And somehow, even after hearing the confessions, even after seeing the actual piece of the human skull, nobody reported Krista to the police. And I'm to tell y'all right now. And I know I have said this on the show multiple times, but don't do no crimes around me. And don't tell me about no crimes. I have no poker face and I will crack. I will crack. Because the moment I'm questioned, I'm gonna say, yes, she did it. This is how she did, this is what she told me. I even have proof. I might even get you to write it down, just so that we all know I'm not joking. And don't let there be a reward. I'm collecting my $10,000 and I'm going about my day. I might even stop at the wing stop to get something on my way home. But please know. Don't tell me. Like legit, I tell everybody that knows me. If you want to do a crime. Don't tell me. And if I ever do a crime, I'm not telling anybody. I'm keeping it to myself. I'm having no witnesses, no accomplices, nobody. I can promise you that. So it's January 13th, 1995, and a University of Tennessee groundskeeper. He's making his way downtown, walking fast faces passing. He is making his way around the campus doing his morning duties. When he comes across What he thinks is a mangled animal. He's like, the ground was completely soaked in blood. He's like, damn, did a coyote do this? Like, what the hell? So he's like, All right, well, let me just, I guess, take this carcass and throw it in the trash. And he's walking over to it and he's like, wait, are these clothes? What the hell? And that's when he notices that it's a woman's body. So immediately he's like, Okay, someone has done this. And remember, like I said, this is the second instance of a woman being attacked. And so he's just like, okay, he's looking around, he's surveying the area, just making sure that nobody is coming back. And then he calls the police. So a University of Tennessee campus police was the first one to report to the scene. It was Officer Harold James Underwood Jr. And so he secures this crime scene. And so the police come out, they're assessing the scene, they're taking pictures, they're collecting evidence. And at somewhere between four and five that afternoon, Krista and a group of girls show up. And he's standing there because he's just making sure that nobody's going in and out. And Krista walks right up to him and he she starts asking him questions. She's like, Hey, officer, why has this area been blocked off? And he's just like, Well, I can't release that information to you. Okay, well, do you know what happened? Like, is there a victim? And if so, do you know who it was? And he's just like, Hey, baby, I just told you, like, I cannot release that information to you. And she's like, Well, do you guys have any suspects? And he's just like, I cannot release that information to you. And what really stuck with him was not the questions, but is the way she was asking the questions. Like everybody else that had been by was mourning. Like they were distraught. They were like, What the hell? Like someone like this something happened here. And remember, everybody was on red already on edge because A couple weeks prior, there was another attack. So everyone's feeling scared, they're unsafe. Students are starting to call home to their parents, like, you what, mom and dad, I'm ready to come home. Like, this is too much for me. We're in a really bad area. Like, there's just too much going on. And so he's just like, it's crazy that out of all of the students that have walked past here today, you are the only one that's just talking so casually. And he's just like, she's asking him, like, Is there a body? And she's giggling like a crazy person. And she stood there and talked to him for 15 minutes. And she was just amused. She's giggling, she's talking casually, and she's just the only person that does not seem bothered by the gravity of situation. And so he's just talking to her and he's already on alert. And then he looks at her necklace, because remember, she's wearing a pentagram necklace. And he's like, hmm. Interesting. And so, you know, he just kind of files all of this in his head as maybe a little bit more of a coincidence, and he reports it to the other officers. And this is when they kind of connect the dots, like, okay, because they've already been to the school. They already know Colleen's the one missing. They because they can't identify her. They just know she's missing. And so they call Colleen's parents and they're just like, We have a body. And May Martinez is. Immediately like can't be my daughter. Sorry. And they're just like, no, but we found this body. Your daughter's the only student unaccounted for. And you know, we just thought it may like, are there any distinctive features? Anything? Does she have any tattoos? And she's like, no, she has no tattoos. And then they're like, okay, our victim has this mole and May loses it. Raul said she's on the phone and he's like, Who are you talking to? What's going on? And he said all of a sudden he just she just starts screaming, she just drops the phone and collapses to the floor. So they're on the next thing smoking to identify Colleen physically. And you know, the investigation continues. And so on January 13th, after Colleen's body is identified, after dozens of students came forward and they're just like Krista told me she did it, Krista. To Daryl and Shadala were all arrested and charged with first degree murder and brought down to the station. So at the station, Krista's being questioned, and Baby Girl could not wait to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. She told everything but a damn lie. She might tell you a joke, but she's not about to lie about this one. She was proud of what she had done and she had no problem telling them everything. She walked through her crime step by step. In the same way that someone would tell you about a first date, like, hey girl, you know, I went out with this guy. this is what he was wearing. I really liked his cologne. This is what I wore because you know I wanted to be cute. We went to this restaurant. That's how she's recounting it, like very matter of factly, very nonchalantly, very proudly. And I think that's what was so confusing to everyone. And so they're just like, All right, thank you for your confession. You have been mirandized. We're taking you to jail, no bond. So, and that's where she sat in the Knoxville County jail until March of 1996, nearly 14 months after Colleen's murder, when her trial began. So Krista's trial began in Knox County Criminal Court. And while the exact date isn't clearly documented in public records, what I could see is this: leading the prosecution was District Attorney General Randall E. Nichols, joined by ADA William H. Crabtree and Sally J. Helm. Their strategy was not to prove that Krista participated in Colleen's murder because duh, we all know at this point. They wanted jurors to believe that she orchestrated the attack, inflicted the majority of Colleen's injuries, and carried out the murder with cruelty. Which, let's be so for real, why do we even take this to trial? You did it. You bragged about it. You laughed about it. You confessed about it. You had a good old time talking about it. You took a piece of Colleen's skull as a souvenir. Why are we wasting time and money and effort taking this crap to trial? Like, let's be so for real. Colleen was represented by defense attorney William C. Tallman. And from the very beginning, the defense faced a very uphill battle. Krista had confessed. Physical evidence, Colleen's skull, tied her directly to the crime. Witnesses placed her with Colleen on the night of the murder, and several people had testified that Krista openly bragged about what happened after. Rather than arguing that Krista was innocent because baby we know she's not innocent, the defense focused heavily on her background. Jurors heard testimony describing years of horrific abuse during her childhood, emotional neglect, psychological problems, and mental health struggles. The defense hoped that by understanding where Krista came from, the jury might spare her life if they found her guilty. And that is laughable as hell. That is laughable as hell. What? Sometimes, and I know that a lot of times, especially public defenders, they don't get to pick and choose what cases they get. It's just like, here's this person who looks guilty as hell, figure it out. But I'm not, me personally, I could not be a public defender because why am I wasting my time? Why am I wasting my time? Why am I wasting my time? Why am I wasting everybody else's time? Y'all would get such a like low effort from me because I'd be like, y'all, she did it. She did it. She did it and she is not sorry about it. Because that's the truth. She was not sorry about it. May Martina said every time, like she sat in court and she stared at Krista the whole time, like, you are the reason my baby is dead. And she said Krista did not bat an eyelash at her. She did not fart on her. If she was on fire, she wouldn't piss on her. Like she said Krista did not care. She did not care. Throughout the trial, prosecutors carefully reconstructed the events leading up to Colleen's murder. Witnesses described seeing Krista Tadarrill, Shadala, and Colleen leave job court together on the night of January 12th. Friends testified that after the murder, Krista proudly displayed what she claimed was a piece of Colleen's skull, and detectives walked jurors through the investigation, explaining how those witness statements quickly led police to Krista and her co-defendants. Which, fun fact, Shidala Flipped. She said, baby, all I did was do lookout. You want me to testify? I was there. I can tell you everything that happened, but I'm gonna need something from you. I'm gonna need not to go to jail. And they honored it. They honored it. Shidala only got probation. And I don't even know how much probation. It was like a year or two. I don't know if it was longer than that because I couldn't find her actual sentencing. But yeah, Shidala flipped. She said, I'll tell you everything you need to know if you can keep me out of jail. And they said, baby, we'll take everything that you tell us and we will keep you out of jail. And that's exactly what they did. So even with all of that, the real thing that did Colleen in, in my opinion, was the Emmy testimony. They described the horrific injuries that Colleen suffered, explaining that the endured prolonged torture before ultimately dying from blunt force trauma to her head was much too much. They basically were saying, like, listen, she could have killed her with less. She tortured this girl. This girl was begging for her life and she tortured her. And that is why we're saying, give her the chair. So the jury did also hear Krista's own confession. And while she attempted to minimize certain aspects of her involvement, like, no, Colleen attacked me. I was defending myself. Like, yes, I did do this, but I really wanted to make amends with her. Like she really, she really did this. Like she really did this to herself. Because why would she be in my face talking to me about my man? You know, that is my man. Why would she be doing that? She did herself no favors. And the physical evidence, witness testimony, really everything like she literally handed the prosecution their case. It was airtight. Like they had everything they needed. They even had Colleen's skull from you. There was no fighting this. So the defense attempted to challenge whether the murder had truly been planned in advance, whether Krista alone inflicted the fatal injuries, and whether her psychological condition affected her ability to perform premeditation. The prosecution responded by repeatedly pointing jurors back to Krista's confession. They're just like, Yeah, we hear what you're trying to say. We hear that she had a rough childhood. We hear that like her dad ain't nothing. We hear that her mom was very male centered. We hear that she's male centered. We hear that she thinks Colleen wanted her man. What we don't hear is an apology. And what we don't hear is anything saying that she does not deserve what she's about to get. And so on March 22nd, 1996, after hearing all of the evidence, the jury found Krista Pike, wait for it, wait for it, wait for it, guilty of first-degree premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit first degree murder. The trial entered its second phase. Sentencing eight days later on March 30th, 1996. At that point, the question before the grand jury was no longer whether Krista committed the crime, because duh. Instead, they had to decide whether or not she deserved to spend the rest of her life in prison or receive the death penalty. Prosecutors argue that two aggravating factors justified a death sentence. First, they contended that the murder was especially heinous, atrocious, and cruel because it involved prolonged torture and abuse far beyond what was necessary to cause death. Second, they argue that the murder had been committed to eliminate Colleen as a witness. Now, I agree with them up until I don't think she murdered Colleen to eliminate her as a witness. I think she murdered Colleen to eliminate her out of today's life. That is what I think. I truly don't think she would have cared if Colleen got her arrested. She she had served time before. Like I truly don't think she would have cared to serve time. I genuinely don't think that would have that was her issue. I think her issue was if I leave this heifer alive and I go to jail, she can have to Daryl. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. The defense once again asked jurors to consider Krista's traumatic upbringing, severe abuse, and long history of psychological problems as mitigating circumstances. Ultimately, the jury concluded that the aggravating circumstances outweighed the mitigating evidence, and on March 30th, 1996, Krista Pike was sentenced to death. By electrocution. She also received a consecutive 25 year sentence for conspiracy to commit first degree murder. Today, 31 years later, Krista Pike remains Tennessee's only woman on death row. Her case has generated countless appeals. Countless appeals. Krista has filed so many appeals, and she has tried to get her death sentence overturned so many times. And this is remember earlier in the episode where I'm just like, y'all, I got lazy at the end because literally I could not type anymore. I I was not researching all of her appeals. All I know is that every appeal she filed was met with a resounding hell no from the appellate court. And that is where she should stay. Which brings me to where are they now? Krista remains on death row in Tennessee. And like I mentioned, she's the only woman sentenced to death in the state. She has been serving her time at the Deborah K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center northwest of downtown Nashville since her conviction in 1996. Her execution is scheduled for two months from now, September 30th, 2026. But she has challenged her death sentence, stating that it goes against her spiritual beliefs. So check it. Krista is now a practicing Buddhist. She is real Tina Turnout here. And part of Tennessee law is that there's a blackout period. In which someone who is scheduled to be executed is not allowed to have interaction with anyone outside of clergy. The problem is there is no Buddhist clergy on their board. And so basically, what that would mean is that Krista would have to waive her right to speak to anybody or to get spiritual counsel prior to her death. And the challenge is that, She can't be electrocuted because being electrocuted is against her spiritual beliefs. And they did give her the option to pick another form of execution, but she says because of her spiritual beliefs as a practicing Buddhist, she is unable to participate in anything having to do with her own death. So they are currently in talks right now trying to figure out. And it's funny because I was reading the articles, like, okay, where are is the state's head with this? And it really seems like they don't care. Like I get what she's saying, like, because the truth of the matter is she should receive the same treatment as anyone. Had a Catholic been on death row, there are Catholic priests on the clergy board. If you know, there are other spiritual advisors on the clergy board, but there are no Buddhists. And I'm not sure if there are any Muslims, because there was another case that they had mentioned. I think he was Jewish, though. I'm not sure, but they he didn't have representation. But they killed him anyway. They were like, child, please. Hell is waiting. Click. But so yeah, I'm interested to see how that is gonna turn out. If they're gonna take into consideration that she is a practicing Buddhist, but they are currently in court about it now. And I'll probably do an update maybe on TikTok once they come to terms with that. Krista's grandfather that I mentioned initially, the one with the butcher shop, the butcher board, the butcher, whatever, Chris Photos, he said, damn all of that. He was interviewed by her legal team at the time of her trial and he says, any woman that screws hold on, I gotta do it in his voice. Any woman that screws around with a goddamn nigger deserves to die. Furthermore, he added that he would throw the switch and electrocute his own granddaughter, because how dare you get the death penalty over a nigga? It's not funny. But I'm just like, baby, fall off the face of the earth. In 2026, who is still pressed about the color of someone's skin? Like, let's be so for real. Yes, he's black. It wasn't even his idea. It was her idea. And I'm not making excuses for him because the fact of the matter is he sat there and watched her butcher that girl. And he got a couple licks in himself. So he's big, like, I don't really care what he got going on. But what I am gonna say is I really feel like in today's day and age, w the fact that we know that all of our bodies operate the same. We all have the same blood, not same blood type, but blood runs through all of our veins. We all have a nervous system. We all have like, you know, like at this end of the day, we're all human, right? Anybody that is sit literally sitting here willing to be like, I don't like that person because they're black. You need to be checked into a mental institution. You really do, because why? Why? They didn't do anything to you. He didn't do nothing to you. You should be more worried about your granddaughter. And this is not me taking up for today. So let's not even think that's the case. Cause for real, he was a part of it. And I'm I'm gonna take his age into consideration just slightly because he was 17. He was the youngest of the bunch. Colleen was 19, Krista was 18, he was 17. But at the same point in time, I have a 16 year old, and I feel like my 16 year old son would stand up and say, This don't seem right. This don't seem right. Why are you stabbing her? You know what I'm saying? Like there it just comes with like there's a certain level of morality we should all have. And he did not have that because he was very willing to watch it go down. And he was very willing to say nothing. So, you know, but anybody who is seriously like, I don't like this person because they're black, and I could go on a tangent about this because I too have been on the receiving end of people treating me differently because I'm black, y'all could all really go to hell. Because you gotta be mentally insane. You have to be mentally insane to really have an issue with somebody. We didn't ask to be black. We were just born. But honestly, even if I was asked, make me black in every lifetime. Make me black in every lifetime. Make me a trinity in every lifetime. Period. Moving on. part of Krista's defense team, Steve Farrell said, first. G given Krista's unique medical conditions, we have serious reservations about the state of Tennessee's ability to prevent a torturous execution. Second, the state's protocol fails to make any contingency plans for when things go wrong. Finally, requiring a prisoner to select electrocution to avoid being isolated in the final weeks of their life is particularly cruel and arbitrary, especially for a prisoner like Krista, who was forced to live in solitary confinement for over 25 years. and suffers from severe mental illness. Do with that information what you will. Like I said, I'll give y'all a I'll we can rewind it back when they make a decision on that. But something in my heart, mind, body, and soul is telling me she's probably still gonna be executed in September 2026. Krista, take care, baby girl, because I don't know what to tell you. It would be one thing if this was her only offense, but she also went into prison and got more time for attempted murder because she tried to kill somebody with a shoelace. So I mean girl, at this point you just got problems. We can only blame our parents to a certain extent. We can only blame our parents to a certain extent. Not to mention she also did try to escape prison by screwing a guard. And now he's in jail. At this point, I feel like had you been well behaved, they may have had mercy on your soul. But girl, I don't know what to tell you. Be blessed now. You hear? Miss Shadala is now a full-time entrepreneur with her own beauty salon. Did I say entrepreneur? She is a full-time entrepreneur with her own beauty salon and she still lives in Tennessee. She's living her life and we're gonna let her be. To Daryl, he was sentenced to life plus twenty five years to be served consecutively for his part in Colleen's murder. He is currently eligible for parole. And he did go, he had a parole board hearing in in October 2025. And they were just like, Baby, you ain't served enough time. About face, go back. And I being in prison since seventeen, like I could not imagine. I thank God each and every day I made halfway decent decisions in life. but he does create music. He is part of like a college program at the prison. And he does do things to be productive. He mentors, you know, he does things like that. Alicia, she did get pregnant and she got married at the age of 14, but she did later divorce and remarry. And I read an article published in 2023 that states that she now lives in Hawaii and has three grown children. And she, when asked why her life turned out totally different than Krista's, she said it was for the simple fact that she opted to go live with their aunt. She said living with Carrie, even though she still had issues, I mean being pregnant and married at 14, she was like, that helped me out a lot. And so, you know, God bless you, Alicia. Which brings me to my final thoughts. I'm not gonna go too much on my final thoughts because I'm already way over time. I try to keep my episodes one hour or less in this. We're already pushing an hour and thirty minutes. That's why I did cut a lot of stuff out that I skimmed over at the end, but it like literally I was just pressed for time. So my final thoughts are bruh. Y'all, we do not have to crash out over these men. We don't. Because the truth of the matter is you crash out, you get arrested, and he gets to go live his life. There was an episode of Sisters Who Killed that I listened to about a girl that I think she ran over her boyfriend because she found out that her boyfriend was sleeping with her sister and she ended up going to jail. I think she's doing life about it. And her freaking Because the boyfriend did not die. She accidentally ended up killing someone else. And so she's now doing life about it. And I can't remember her name. If y'all remember her name, drop a line in the comments. But she's now doing life about it. And guess where her boyfriend went? Back to be with her sister. Like we gotta be so for real. We have to stop. We gotta stop doing this to ourselves. Because the truth of the matter is we're doing it to ourselves. Take pleasure in being single. Enjoy being single. You don't always need a man. There like I'm married and I love my husband. I love that man down. There's a lot that I would do for him. Killing somebody, probably not. I'll smack somebody for him. I promise you I will. Killing somebody, probably not. Mm-mm. I'm not. Because at the end of the day, I'm in jail doing life about it and he's gonna live his life. No, absolutely not. Now, if you're asking me if I would punch somebody about him, absolutely. Absolutely, I will punch somebody about him. But I'm not doing life about that. I'm not. Not unless you're hurting my kids. I will gladly do life over my kids because they can't defend themselves. But I just it's just a sad story because I'm like, it's just another young life thrown away over a relationship that was not gonna make it anyway. Cause the truth of the matter is once they left Job Court after their little six months, he was going back to Memphis, she was going back to West Virginia, and that would have been the end of that. She would have found somebody else to go hunch. And he would have done the same. So let's stop acting like the person that you love is the only person on earth, because they're not. And chances are if they're even gonna put you in a position to fight over them, they're not your person. They're not your person. We need to normalize soft love. We need to normalize safe love. We need to denormalize toxicity in relationships. Because I know when I was a kid, I thought toxicity meant a person loved me. I thought a man crashing out over me meant that he loved me. My ex crashed out over me regularly. That man did not love me. He just didn't want anybody else to have me. And that's just the truth. Mind you, I wasn't even entertaining anybody else. But he did not like. Any guys talking to me. He was, I can go on a tangent about that, man, but I'll tell my testimony later. And that's the end of our show.
