- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Cantonese with Fexingo, episode 73. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Lucas, last episode we were buying train tickets. Today I'm in the mood for something more relaxing. Lucas: Oh yeah? What did you have in mind? Luna: How about the park? I love going for a stroll and just enjoying the green. Lucas: Perfect timing. Today we're learning park-related phrases. First up: the word for 'park' itself. In Cantonese, it's 公園. Luna: 公園. Lucas: Good. 公園. So if you want to say 'go to the park', you say 去公園. Remember 去 means 'go'. Luna: 去公園. That's easy. Lucas: Now, another common activity at the park is 'take a walk' or 'stroll'. In Cantonese, that's 散步. Luna: 散步. Lucas: 散步. So if you want to say 'take a walk in the park', you can say 去公園散步. Luna: 去公園散步. Lucas: Exactly. You're already making a sentence. Now, after walking, you might want to sit down. 'Sit down' in Cantonese is 坐低. Luna: 坐低. Lucas: 坐低. So if you say 坐低, that means 'sit down'. For example, 喺公園坐低 means 'sit down in the park'. Luna: 喺公園坐低. So 喺 is 'at' or 'in'? We learned that before, right? Lucas: Yes, 喺 means 'at' or 'in'. Good memory. Now, when you're sitting and looking at the view, you might say 'beautiful view'. In Cantonese, 'beautiful' is 靚, but you often say 好靚, meaning 'very beautiful'. Luna: 好靚. Lucas: 好靚. So you can say 個風景好靚 — 'the scenery is beautiful'. But even just 好靚 works. Luna: Okay, let me try to put it together. If I want to say 'I go to the park to take a walk and sit down to enjoy the view'? Lucas: That's a bit long for now. Let's start with smaller chunks. How about 'I go to the park for a walk' — 我去公園散步. Luna: 我去公園散步. Lucas: Perfect. And then 'sit down and watch the view' — 坐低睇風景. 睇 means 'look at' or 'watch'. Luna: 坐低睇風景. Lucas: Great. Now let's practice with a little scene. Imagine we're at the park. You say to me: 'Let's go for a walk in the park.' Luna: Hmm... 我哋去公園散步啦? I think I need the 'let's' part. Is 啦 for suggestions? Lucas: Exactly. 我哋去公園散步啦. That's perfect. 'Let's go for a walk in the park.' Luna: 我哋去公園散步啦. Nice. Lucas: And then I reply: 好啊,風景好靚. 'Okay, the scenery is beautiful.' Luna: 好啊,風景好靚. Lucas: Now you say: 我哋坐低啦. 'Let's sit down.' Luna: 我哋坐低啦. Lucas: Love it. You just had a full conversation. Let's recap the phrases we learned today: 公園, 散步, 坐低, 好靚, 去公園散步, and 坐低睇風景. Luna: 公園, 散步, 坐低, 好靚, 去公園散步, 坐低睇風景. Lucas: You got it.
