- 1:00Speaker 1: off mic, but we recently reviewed another Ian Hardin Hallmark
- 1:05Speaker 1: movie called Lost in Paradise. Yes, and we were promoting
- 1:08Speaker 1: it on socials and my dad, bless his heart for
- 1:11Speaker 1: following us and engaging with our content DMS, and he's like,
- 1:14Speaker 1: is that the guy that's in Ripple? And I just thought, Oh,
- 1:17Speaker 1: he's so sweet. I was like, yes, Dad, that's Ian Harding.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I love it. Is a good social media supporter, always
- 1:26Speaker 1: likes stuff, always reacting to stuff.
- 1:29Speaker 2: That's very sweet. He knows it.
- 1:31Speaker 1: It does something to the algorithm.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that's very sweet. I appreciate it.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks Tom, You're so funny. Hey, if you like us,

- 2:17Speaker 1: and listening to and it's out. It's ready for you

- 2:27Speaker 1: it is linked in our show notes. Now, let's hear
- 2:32Speaker 1: a synopsis for episode six, The White Coat. A new
- 2:35Speaker 1: career opportunity forces Aria to decide between pursuing aspirations and loyalty.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Walter struggles to take up Brenda's charity Legacy. Before we
- 2:48Speaker 1: jump into use and notes about this episode, I want
- 2:52Speaker 1: to publicly respond to a message that we got in
- 2:56Speaker 1: our DMS. It says, Hi, quick note, I noticed y'all
- 2:59Speaker 1: calling Ellis her still after it was revealed they are
- 3:02Speaker 1: non binary, so so Jess wanted to make sure you
- 3:05Speaker 1: were aware. I responded, yes, thank you, you are right. Thanks
- 3:09Speaker 1: for the reminder. This is just like a bonehead mistake. Yeah. No,
- 3:13Speaker 1: I appreciate them pointing that out to us, because I'm
- 3:16Speaker 1: glad you read that. I saw that message after you
- 3:19Speaker 1: had responded when it came through, and I was like, yeah,
- 3:22Speaker 1: I definitely have been doing that. I made a conscious
- 3:25Speaker 1: effort to adjust my notes accordingly this week. If you
- 3:29Speaker 1: don't know anything about us, like, we definitely want to
- 3:33Speaker 1: respect everybody's personal pronouns and that's something we definitely try
- 3:38Speaker 1: to do. Just completely got in the rhythm of things
- 3:41Speaker 1: and didn't.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Yeah, we made a mistake for sure.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Anyway, let's get on to news and notes. Melanie
- 3:48Speaker 1: Or returns as directors. She has thirty two directing credits,
- 3:51Speaker 1: and most recently directed four of the six episodes in
- 3:53Speaker 1: the latest season of Mizzletone Murders Her Other work includes
- 3:58Speaker 1: Sullivan's Crossing, The Hearty Boys, and The Spencer Sisters. Jerry
- 4:02Speaker 1: Kanto Georgist wrote episode six. His writing resume is fairly
- 4:07Speaker 1: limited outside of episodes one, two, three, and six. This
- 4:10Speaker 1: is his only credited work so far. He's currently in
- 4:13Speaker 1: pre production on another project he wrote, called fourth Wall,
- 4:17Speaker 1: which is set to star Emma Roberts Okay. Our regular
- 4:21Speaker 1: cast returns Frankie Faison as Walter, Julia chanas Chris, Ian
- 4:24Speaker 1: Harding as Neat, Sidney Agadon as Aria, Marci tea House
- 4:27Speaker 1: as Tara, Sarah Swire as Ellis, along with Robert Bizzaggi
- 4:31Speaker 1: as John and Vanessa Smythus. Claire Isabella asks. Barry returns
- 4:35Speaker 1: as Finn. Isabella has ten acting credits, with appearances in
- 4:39Speaker 1: Ginny and Georgia as well as a few Lifetime movies.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Eden Broad appears as Rebecca, with just sixteen acting credits,
- 4:45Speaker 1: Ripple appears to be her biggest job to date. Roy
- 4:47Speaker 1: Lewis plays Pastor Michael. Roy has fifty three acting credits,
- 4:51Speaker 1: with tons of Hallmark appearances in movies like The Jane Mysteries,
- 4:54Speaker 1: A Deadly Prescription, and A Not So Royal Christmas Chantal
- 4:58Speaker 1: Riley plays therapist doctor Anderson. Chantelle has twenty six acting
- 5:02Speaker 1: credits and has appeared in the Love Club collection of movies,
- 5:05Speaker 1: as well as the series Frankie Drake Mystery. Question, Frankie
- 5:09Speaker 1: Drake Mysteries is not Hallmark.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't think it is. I don't
- 5:14Speaker 2: think it is either. I know we've heard it.
- 5:19Speaker 1: She was in like so many episodes and I was like,
- 5:22Speaker 1: I feel like I would see this in repeats.
- 5:24Speaker 2: What channel is it on? I don't.
- 5:26Speaker 1: When I google Frankie Drake Mysteries, the first thing that
- 5:28Speaker 1: comes up is a Reddit thread Frankie Drake Mysteries is
- 5:32Speaker 1: terrible on creddible period dramas it is. It's a Canadian series,
- 5:39Speaker 1: all right. Finally, Jasmine Ward, please carry This is just
- 5:42Speaker 1: her fourth acting credit. Hey, let's take a quick break
- 5:45Speaker 1: and come back with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what
- 5:57Speaker 1: was your first impression of episode six The White Coat? Uh? Well,
- 6:01Speaker 1: this isn't my usual funny first impression, but I wanted
- 6:03Speaker 1: to say it out loud. This episode left me feeling
- 6:08Speaker 1: hopeful and thinking a lot about faith in people, community
- 6:11Speaker 1: and showing up for each other. Which feels especially relevant
- 6:14Speaker 1: right now, Wow, follow that baby, Just kidding joking.
- 6:20Speaker 2: I'm joking for.
- 6:21Speaker 1: A much kinder take on this episode than I do,
- 6:26Speaker 1: because my first impression is, with the exception of Walter,
- 6:30Speaker 1: every single person in this episode is bumming me out. Well,
- 6:35Speaker 1: I mean the show is kind of a huge bummer. Yeah,
- 6:38Speaker 1: but I love I agree with the sentiment behind your
- 6:42Speaker 1: first impression. Well, I I want to talk more about
- 6:46Speaker 1: that a little bit later on Okay, especially your characterization
- 6:51Speaker 1: of everybody bumming you out. I mean, it's not wrong.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Right before this I had watched people we made on vacation,
- 6:59Speaker 1: like your rom com frothiness, and then we come into
- 7:04Speaker 1: this show, which is a little bit of a.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Have more depth to it.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Also, before we jumped into our likes, I gotta say
- 7:10Speaker 1: I noticed in our Facebook group yesterday someday is like,
- 7:13Speaker 1: oh hey, I started watching Ripple because magn and Wentdy
- 7:15Speaker 1: were talking about it and it's great, and then all
- 7:17Speaker 1: these comments were like it's so good, it's so good.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I was like, look at us influencers, you know, that's
- 7:26Speaker 1: so funny. Because I heard an ad for a podcast
- 7:29Speaker 1: network that was like, most people don't consider podcasters influencers,
- 7:35Speaker 1: but also a good percentage of people have said that
- 7:39Speaker 1: a podcaster has influenced or changed their mind about something.
- 7:42Speaker 1: And they were talking about the power of trusted opinions. Oh. Interesting,
- 7:47Speaker 1: And it just made me think of when people email
- 7:50Speaker 1: not I watched, because we just got another email that
- 7:53Speaker 1: was like, I watched this movie that I had previously
- 7:55Speaker 1: skipped because.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Of your review. Yeah, it makes me feel good.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I know, I'm glad that not that to our own horns,
- 8:02Speaker 1: but I'm glad that people see us as like a
- 8:04Speaker 1: respected and trusted voice.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Yeah in movie reviews. Yeah, yeah, that's exciting.
- 8:10Speaker 1: All right, I'm gonna talk about what I liked because
- 8:12Speaker 1: I have a good list. Yes, I thought the white
- 8:17Speaker 1: coat idea it really worked for me here. You know,
- 8:21Speaker 1: there's always like this thread line right and earlier in
- 8:26Speaker 1: this season it was like kind of hitting us over
- 8:28Speaker 1: the head. Yes, they've walked it back just like a
- 8:33Speaker 1: tiny bit, which I like because now I did feel
- 8:37Speaker 1: in this episode I wasn't like searching for like who
- 8:40Speaker 1: else has a white coat? What's the white coat? Is
- 8:42Speaker 1: the white coat? The doctor is the white coat? Like whatever? Right? Well,
- 8:45Speaker 1: you know that's really interesting that you say that because
- 8:48Speaker 1: I also appreciate that this wasn't so blatant. However, because
- 8:52Speaker 1: I've been trained to expect the obvious. She's gonna trip
- 8:57Speaker 1: over the pebble moment, I was.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Like, well, did they tie it together enough?
- 9:02Speaker 1: That's where my brain initially went, And then I had
- 9:05Speaker 1: to go because in my mind, I'm like, the white
- 9:07Speaker 1: coat was Brenda's coat, that's the obvious. Sure, but you're right,
- 9:13Speaker 1: the doctor, I couldn't. But then there were elements I
- 9:18Speaker 1: was like, well, how did these people tie into the
- 9:20Speaker 1: white coat of it all?
- 9:21Speaker 2: And I said, I'm gonna let it go.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Maybe maybe I could rewatch it and figure it out.
- 9:25Speaker 1: It doesn't really matter in the ultimate storytelling, right exactly.
- 9:30Speaker 1: My takeaway is it is the white coat isn't just
- 9:33Speaker 1: about it being Brenda's coat. And Walter basically says it
- 9:39Speaker 1: when he's with Tara and he says, I can give
- 9:41Speaker 1: away the physical things but keep the memories. I was like, man,
- 9:45Speaker 1: that really stopped me in the track, in my tracks
- 9:47Speaker 1: because when there's grief and change and transition, which I
- 9:53Speaker 1: appreciate Tara stepping into this role of like, Okay, Walter,
- 9:56Speaker 1: we need to like, you know, gently pressing him to yeah,
- 10:00Speaker 1: move on with his life. But we do hang on
- 10:04Speaker 1: two things when a person is gone. I mean, have
- 10:07Speaker 1: you ever held on to like a box of notes
- 10:09Speaker 1: from a boyfriend or like stuff? You know what I mean, right,
- 10:12Speaker 1: because we tile these like memories to these physical things.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I just love that Walter is like, I can have
- 10:19Speaker 1: the memories. Yes, I can keep the memory. Oh my god,
- 10:23Speaker 1: Walter Frank Kismy's on is not nominated for some sort
- 10:28Speaker 1: of Golden Globe or Emmy for this. He's outstanding in
- 10:32Speaker 1: this show. He is outstand the best. He's the best. Look,
- 10:36Speaker 1: he's my number one. Like from this episode, his arc
- 10:39Speaker 1: is the most hopeful to me. Yes, it's the only
- 10:42Speaker 1: hopeful arc quite frankly in this episode in my opinion.
- 10:45Speaker 1: And it's hard because at the beginning of the episode
- 10:48Speaker 1: he's not in a hopeful place. He's struggling a little
- 10:50Speaker 1: bit and he's kind of mired in his grief. And
- 10:54Speaker 1: fortunately he remains connected to these people like Ellis and
- 10:59Speaker 1: Tara specific who pull him out of it. But what
- 11:02Speaker 1: I like about Walter is he's open to hearing what
- 11:05Speaker 1: other people have to say.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and he takes in.
- 11:10Speaker 1: He comes from a place in the world of religion
- 11:13Speaker 1: and church because of his past trauma right of a
- 11:17Speaker 1: very distrustful of church and the people who go there,
- 11:22Speaker 1: and he is fully willing to hear what Pastor Michael
- 11:26Speaker 1: says to him.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Now, granted, Pastor Michael says good thinks to him, he
- 11:29Speaker 1: has a good story to tell. Yeah, But the fact
- 11:33Speaker 1: that Walter is who he is based on his past
- 11:37Speaker 1: we learned about his sister and his dad is kind
- 11:39Speaker 1: of the ultimate hopefulness for me. Oh totally, Like that's
- 11:44Speaker 1: seen between him and Pastor Michael, which also Michael did
- 11:48Speaker 1: the voiceover yeah at the beginning of the of the episode.
- 11:52Speaker 1: As someone who personally struggles with faith and religion and
- 11:57Speaker 1: prayer and leaning on I'm a God who has a
- 12:02Speaker 1: plan for you, I really you know, I really felt
- 12:08Speaker 1: that I understood Walter's character and he's like, your God
- 12:12Speaker 1: has not made my life great, took my sister from me,
- 12:15Speaker 1: took my wife from me.
- 12:17Speaker 2: But I thought Pastor Michael.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Like his message was so moving to me as.
- 12:23Speaker 2: A non religious person.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I was like, he's saying something here that is like
- 12:28Speaker 1: I thought, so meaningful in terms of like leaning on
- 12:32Speaker 1: your fellow man, trusting your community, or leaning into your community,
- 12:37Speaker 1: or giving back to your community, whatever it was. I
- 12:39Speaker 1: just thought it was so meaningful. Just an interesting message
- 12:43Speaker 1: for a show that was supposed to be on Hallmark
- 12:47Speaker 1: but has landed on Netflix.
- 12:48Speaker 2: I hate you. No, I don't know.
- 12:49Speaker 1: There's not a ton of content with a faith message,
- 12:52Speaker 1: I you know, thrown down here. Look, I think I
- 12:56Speaker 1: took what I need to take from it. I really
- 12:59Speaker 1: appreciated it.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I really appreciated it too.
- 13:02Speaker 1: I have a complicated relationship with religion, more specifically with
- 13:06Speaker 1: the church and people within it, and I found that
- 13:11Speaker 1: pastor's message very powerful, and that's the kind of messaging that,
- 13:15Speaker 1: you know. A friend of mine actually recently said, would
- 13:17Speaker 1: you ever consider going back to church because it wasn't
- 13:19Speaker 1: the faith so much you struggled with as the church
- 13:22Speaker 1: and the people. And I said maybe. I mean it
- 13:24Speaker 1: would have to be the right situation, and that is,
- 13:28Speaker 1: you know, heading in the right direction there. Yeah. What
- 13:31Speaker 1: did you think about the reveal of Walter's backstory?
- 13:35Speaker 2: I didn't know. I loved that.
- 13:38Speaker 1: We got even more like, we know so much about Walter.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Walter is such a pivotal I wouldn't say we know
- 13:43Speaker 1: so much, but Walter has a big story in this.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Are you talking about his sisters, sister, all of it?
- 13:50Speaker 1: His sister, his dad?
- 13:51Speaker 2: You know, yeah, I don't.
- 13:53Speaker 1: It makes my heart hurt for Walter, like growing at
- 13:57Speaker 1: home like that. Yeah, oh god, when he put his
- 14:02Speaker 1: sister's picture up at the end and dances to the Temptations,
- 14:07Speaker 1: I just I know, I know.
- 14:10Speaker 2: And then you know it's in my wishes. But what happened?
- 14:14Speaker 1: It said she could hit by a car. Oh I
- 14:15Speaker 1: didn't hear that hit and run? Oh yeah, I you know.
- 14:19Speaker 1: To me, it sound like she ran away or something,
- 14:22Speaker 1: you know, really terrible happened. But he says to Pastor
- 14:26Speaker 1: Michael that it was a hit and run. Oh wow,
- 14:29Speaker 1: I completely missed. Yeah, okay, well that makes me feel
- 14:32Speaker 1: a little bit better because I was thinking something much
- 14:34Speaker 1: worse than that.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and she goes missing. Yeah. How happy are you
- 14:40Speaker 2: that Nate is in therapy?
- 14:42Speaker 1: I'm telling you the timeline is so wonky here.
- 14:46Speaker 2: I know it's I had.
- 14:48Speaker 1: To literally say out loud to myself let it go,
- 14:51Speaker 1: because it makes no sense when Claire and Nate are
- 14:54Speaker 1: talking about the clinical trial, I'm like, how how are
- 14:56Speaker 1: we already at a place where we're talking about a
- 14:58Speaker 1: clinical it's been like a week and a hal Yeah,
- 15:01Speaker 1: this show, Yeah, it doesn't make any sense. I'm happy
- 15:04Speaker 1: he's in therapy and him admitting to reconciliation not being
- 15:09Speaker 1: possible because not that he hates Claire, but her lying
- 15:13Speaker 1: broke him. I thought that was incredibly honest. And also
- 15:20Speaker 1: if you watch him when he just so turns when he.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Starts to talk about Chris.
- 15:26Speaker 1: I thought that scene with the therapist was interesting because
- 15:29Speaker 1: you know, he's like, do you think it's too fast?
- 15:32Speaker 1: You know?
- 15:32Speaker 2: I right, he didn't.
- 15:34Speaker 1: He asked the therapist if he thought it was too fast.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Maybe he says something about that. I just thought it
- 15:38Speaker 2: was good. I thought it was needed.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I thought it was I think it's really needed. I
- 15:43Speaker 1: thought Ian Harding was so good in this episode when
- 15:46Speaker 1: he goes to Chris at the studio. This is after
- 15:50Speaker 1: like Claire confronts Chris in the bar, and I'm going
- 15:54Speaker 1: to talk about that in my wishes, that scene in particular,
- 15:57Speaker 1: but when Nate shows up at the studio the next
- 16:00Speaker 1: day to see, like what's going on with Chris, and
- 16:02Speaker 1: like he Annie says, like the quiet part out loud,
- 16:05Speaker 1: like there's something, there's something between us, and he's looking
- 16:08Speaker 1: for confirmation and she asks for space.
- 16:10Speaker 2: The confusion on his face, Yeah, the hurt. Oh man,
- 16:15Speaker 2: he's so good.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Yeah, that just felt like real heartbreak there, and I
- 16:21Speaker 1: just thought he was so good. I'm not wearing my
- 16:24Speaker 1: herding t shirt. But you have to listen to our
- 16:28Speaker 1: last and Paradise episode, so you know we're talking about there. Hey, look,
- 16:33Speaker 1: speaking of Nate. Such a gut punch to find out
- 16:36Speaker 1: that Nate and Finn are both up for the clinical trial.
- 16:38Speaker 1: And as soon as she talks about it, you know
- 16:39Speaker 1: that there's not room for both of you know, they're
- 16:41Speaker 1: not both getting in.
- 16:43Speaker 2: And when he.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Walks into the hallway and says to Chris like, I
- 16:48Speaker 1: want it so badly, but I don't want to take it,
- 16:51Speaker 1: take it away.
- 16:52Speaker 2: We're two episodes away. I don't. I'm really worried about Finn. Yeah,
- 16:58Speaker 2: let's talk about how.
- 16:59Speaker 1: You said everybody's bumming you out in this episode.
- 17:03Speaker 2: You know you're not wrong.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Everybody is kind of a mess, I think, mostly because
- 17:10Speaker 1: everybody is acting from a place of fear, like they're
- 17:14Speaker 1: just scared of what's gonna happen next, right, Okay, Yes,
- 17:18Speaker 1: I think that's so there's two storylines that I want
- 17:21Speaker 1: to talk about. I think that's real true of Aria
- 17:23Speaker 1: and Chris.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, yeah.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Like I'm real conflicted there because on the one hand,
- 17:28Speaker 1: I'm like, Aria, don't do that to Chris. On the
- 17:30Speaker 1: other hand, Aria, as an emerging artist, does deserve to
- 17:34Speaker 1: explore her option. Sure, and I think had it been
- 17:38Speaker 1: a conversation from the beginning, would have been a different story.
- 17:41Speaker 1: But Chris still would have added up her. There's no
- 17:42Speaker 1: situation in which she doesn't end up her.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Oh man, she was pissed. She was so mad.
- 17:47Speaker 1: She says to her, don't you think I have to
- 17:49Speaker 1: stand on my own two feet? And Chris says, you
- 17:51Speaker 1: need to stand on your own two feet out there,
- 17:54Speaker 1: And then of course it's heartbroken by the fact that
- 17:56Speaker 1: Aria has chosen otherwise, I think they're operating from a
- 18:00Speaker 1: place of fear a little bit. Aria is operating from
- 18:02Speaker 1: a place of what if?
- 18:03Speaker 2: What if? What if?
- 18:04Speaker 1: What? Yeah, this is I'm not going to get enough here,
- 18:07Speaker 1: and Chris is of course fearing for her business and
- 18:09Speaker 1: what this means for her. But the storyline that I
- 18:13Speaker 1: that I'm really concerned about is Ellis and Rebecca Ellis
- 18:17Speaker 1: finds the flyer in Rebecca's bag. He fronts her about it,
- 18:21Speaker 1: and Rebecca says to Ellis, new York isn't for me.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I love, You're my person, but this place isn't for me. Right,
- 18:29Speaker 1: And Ellis agrees to consider it moving to Montana with Rebecca,
- 18:34Speaker 1: even though it's written all over Ellis's face this is
- 18:37Speaker 1: not something that they want. New York is for Ellis.
- 18:41Speaker 1: But then Nate finds out he doesn't get into the
- 18:45Speaker 1: clinical trial, and Ellis looks at him and says, here
- 18:49Speaker 1: for you, and you know the decision is made. They're
- 18:52Speaker 1: not going to leave. Yeah, So that hurt me. You're
- 18:57Speaker 1: worried about Rebecca and Ellis because they clearly seem happy
- 19:03Speaker 1: with each other, but not both happy in this place.
- 19:08Speaker 2: And even when they.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Were talking about Ellis considering moving to Montana, you know
- 19:13Speaker 1: that Montana is not the place for them.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:16Speaker 1: I think maybe more the connection is about loyalty. And
- 19:22Speaker 1: then we have so we have Chris and Aria struggling
- 19:25Speaker 1: with loyalty, and then we have Ellis and choosing a
- 19:30Speaker 1: path either with Rebecca or Nate, and it seems like
- 19:34Speaker 1: they choose Nate and they are loyal to Nate. Yeah,
- 19:38Speaker 1: I don't know. All of it is just a mess
- 19:42Speaker 1: though it is. I think that's the part of it
- 19:45Speaker 1: is that it's messy and there's no clear path for
- 19:48Speaker 1: any of these people. It's not like I look at
- 19:51Speaker 1: this and go all you need to do is X,
- 19:52Speaker 1: Y and Z and this is all cleared up. There's
- 19:54Speaker 1: just Yeah, it's jumbled, it's messy.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Are you ready to talk wishes? I am okay.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Claire's confrontation with Chris, it feels right, but also is muddy,
- 20:07Speaker 1: Like I understand Claire's wanting to protect Nate, yes, from
- 20:13Speaker 1: being hurt, but also I feel maybe her motives are
- 20:19Speaker 1: not about Nate protecting Nate, but more about herself. One
- 20:24Speaker 1: hundred percent, I think it's perfectly fine for her to
- 20:26Speaker 1: say to Nate, maybe it's too soon, even though I
- 20:29Speaker 1: don't feel like it's her place. It's fine for her
- 20:30Speaker 1: to express that to him. They have a relationship. But
- 20:35Speaker 1: she stepped into a place where she did not belong
- 20:38Speaker 1: by telling Chris to step back. Yeah, because Nate does
- 20:43Speaker 1: care for Chris, whether it's too soon or not. Chris
- 20:47Speaker 1: is an important person to her, and she says, you
- 20:49Speaker 1: weren't there for his surgery.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Yeah, her dad died.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not for Claire to understand. No, and Claire s'ys,
- 20:55Speaker 1: I dropped everything. Well, you didn't have the same things
- 20:57Speaker 1: to drop that Chris did.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I don't think. I don't think Claire was in the right.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I hate that that happened. I have really felt for
- 21:07Speaker 1: Claire throughout this season, and that made me really actively
- 21:11Speaker 1: dislike her. Yeah, you know, even though we do finally
- 21:14Speaker 1: learn kind of the source of the conflict in Nate
- 21:17Speaker 1: and Claire's marriage, that she would get caught up in scams,
- 21:20Speaker 1: that she was dishonest about finances, and I love his
- 21:25Speaker 1: conflict where he's like, she's such a solid human. Yeah,
- 21:27Speaker 1: good mom, But she lied to me over and over
- 21:30Speaker 1: and over again. It wasn't that she caught up in scams.
- 21:32Speaker 1: It was that she hit it and she lied to him.
- 21:35Speaker 1: We didn't really talk about this, but the previously on
- 21:39Speaker 1: scenes show that moment. Is it at the beginning of
- 21:43Speaker 1: this episode? I think it's at the end of last
- 21:44Speaker 1: episode where she's holding the ring in her hand and
- 21:47Speaker 1: she googles something.
- 21:49Speaker 2: I think it's this episode.
- 21:50Speaker 1: She but we never see her follow through. But when
- 21:54Speaker 1: she's talking to Nate and he's like, we can't afford
- 21:55Speaker 1: the clinical try and she's like, don't worry about it.
- 21:58Speaker 2: I got it. Yeah, No scams, not like.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Kind of a scam a little bit. I mean, not
- 22:04Speaker 1: a scam, but not a straightforward way.
- 22:08Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know.
- 22:11Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean Nate doesn't know about the ring. Yeah,
- 22:14Speaker 1: so it is more lies. It's more lies. She's coming
- 22:19Speaker 1: from a good place of like, oh, let me sell
- 22:21Speaker 1: this piece of jewelry, but it feels a little icky
- 22:25Speaker 1: because his mom is the one that gave it to
- 22:27Speaker 1: her and he doesn't know about it, and like, yeah, yeah,
- 22:33Speaker 1: did you happen to see I I don't Anna comes
- 22:39Speaker 1: out from the back room at the bar in the scene.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Is this the first time Chrisie's Anna? Oh?
- 22:46Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know either.
- 22:48Speaker 1: And I don't know if she knew if Anna was
- 22:50Speaker 1: hard of hearing or not.
- 22:52Speaker 2: I don't know either. How does she react in that moment?
- 22:55Speaker 1: Kind of like she you know, because Claire just unloads
- 22:59Speaker 1: on her, and then she sees their child, Nate and
- 23:03Speaker 1: Claire's small child, and Claire is signing to her yeah,
- 23:08Speaker 1: And I think maybe Chris has this full picture of
- 23:13Speaker 1: everything he's dealing with.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, but.
- 23:16Speaker 1: I can't recall the details.
- 23:18Speaker 2: If she or not, it doesn't really matter.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I think it was clear in that moment she was like, Oh,
- 23:24Speaker 1: he's dealing with a lot, so maybe I do step back.
- 23:27Speaker 2: How much do you love?
- 23:28Speaker 1: I know we're not doing this right now, but Ellis's
- 23:30Speaker 1: relationship with Anna so sweet, and they say she's my
- 23:33Speaker 1: favorite person.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Yeah, love it so sweet speaking of Anna from me.
- 23:39Speaker 1: When she comes into the bar with Nate and Ellis
- 23:44Speaker 1: and Anna are signing to each other, there are no subtitles.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I know, I really loved it. You love that that
- 23:52Speaker 1: there was no subtitles. Well, I was like, what are
- 23:55Speaker 1: they talking about?
- 23:56Speaker 2: Yeah? I know, I know. I thought that too. I
- 23:59Speaker 2: want to to know.
- 24:00Speaker 1: And I was watching this with subtitles. It should have
- 24:03Speaker 1: been on the screen even if you weren't watching with subtitles.
- 24:06Speaker 1: I just it's like, when they're speaking in another lange,
- 24:08Speaker 1: I feel, as a non ASL speaker, like it felt locked.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I felt like I was locked out.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Of this moment between them, which is so sweet, the
- 24:17Speaker 1: way it was sweet airs for Anna. And maybe it's
- 24:21Speaker 1: that the content of the conversation is less important than
- 24:24Speaker 1: the fact that Ellis learned asl for Anna right right,
- 24:29Speaker 1: and that they clearly have this relationship with each other.
- 24:33Speaker 1: That's what's communicated in that moment.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Yeah, what are their wishes? Do you have?
- 24:37Speaker 1: That's it me too, let's talk. Did you see that
- 24:41Speaker 1: I don't have anyone true?
- 24:43Speaker 2: Did you see that?
- 24:44Speaker 1: No, the show doesn't have the true Did you say
- 24:47Speaker 1: that's in this sense? But look, Tara is the funniest
- 24:50Speaker 1: person in their show. I love marct House so much.
- 24:54Speaker 1: By the way I saw on Threads marct House, someone
- 24:59Speaker 1: had said, has anybody here? Moved out of the country,
- 25:03Speaker 1: and Barcie said five years ago, and I've never looked back.
- 25:07Speaker 2: And I wanted to be like, where do you live?
- 25:09Speaker 2: Like tell us more? What did you do?
- 25:12Speaker 1: Not in a but like you bailed on this current
- 25:15Speaker 1: situation she's living.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Yeah it maybe I.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Didn't do even the slightest bit of a next step
- 25:22Speaker 1: to find out more thought it was very interesting. But
- 25:26Speaker 1: when she's trying to help Walter to clutter and not
- 25:29Speaker 1: declutters the wrong word, move some of Brenda's items so
- 25:33Speaker 1: that he's not bashed over the head day after day
- 25:37Speaker 1: with these physical memories, she says, if it's not free,
- 25:42Speaker 1: you got a bit of a do like the woman's vitamins.
- 25:44Speaker 2: I just I laughed out loud. I thought it was
- 25:46Speaker 2: very funny.
- 25:47Speaker 1: She's just I love the way Marcy delivers a line
- 25:51Speaker 1: of dialogue.
- 25:52Speaker 2: She's great, that's kind of it.
- 25:54Speaker 1: I wish we knew if we were going to get
- 25:55Speaker 1: a season two renew it. Hey, thank you for listening
