• 0:21
Speaker 3: gotta burk. Welcome to Let's Talk with Carl Lee. Let's
• 0:26
Speaker 3: Talk is probably presented by Attorney Frank Walker, Real Talk,
• 0:29
Speaker 3: Real experience, real results, Frank Walker Law dot Com. Let
• 0:33
Speaker 3: that conversation begin on Let's Talk.
• 0:36
Speaker 4: Hello, ladies and gentlemen, This is Crawley with Let's Talk.
• 0:40
Speaker 4: And I have in the building. I have my two
• 0:43
Speaker 4: co hosts, Hollis Lewis Hello, and Lisa Odie.
• 0:47
Speaker 2: Now now hold on now before we get started, here
• 0:51
Speaker 2: we go. Before we get started, I'm gonna turn my
• 0:55
Speaker 2: hair fines up. I need y'all to tell me. I
• 0:59
Speaker 2: need miss Lisa, mister mister Carl Lee to tell me
• 1:03
Speaker 2: how right I am about about about going to be
• 1:07
Speaker 2: about a particular quarterback, Sam Donald. Now, last year I
• 1:13
Speaker 2: told you you don't trade a quarterback, and Dad you
• 1:17
Speaker 2: the fourteen wins in the playoffs. So back to back years,
• 1:22
Speaker 2: Minnesota fourteen wins, Seattle fourteen wins, and now they are
• 1:26
Speaker 2: in the NFC Championship. So I need you to to
• 1:31
  Speaker 2: tell me.
• 1:33
Speaker 4: Hold on, hold on, Yes, how I am I'm the
• 1:39
Speaker 4: domers of this ship. Is there a possibility to get
• 1:43
Speaker 4: somebody off the show?
• 1:47
Speaker 2: Don't I think that we need the university? But no,
• 1:57
Speaker 2: I'm just saying, we'll talk later. But it just goes
• 2:01
Speaker 2: to my point, and we can go into Thomasson, right Tomlin, No,
• 2:04
Speaker 2: I wouldn't know that we can. We can start here. No, No,
• 2:06
Speaker 2: I'm saying, it just goes into Tomas. And what I'm
• 2:08
Speaker 2: saying though, is that And again they their reports. Obviously
• 2:11
Speaker 2: he walked away, he resigned, which could be true. We know,
• 2:14
Speaker 2: maybe maybe wasn't. But the thing is, I'm just speaking
• 2:17
Speaker 2: from the fan perspective. You don't crap on somebody who
• 2:20
Speaker 2: is consistently getting you places. Sam Donald got is team
• 2:24
Speaker 2: consistently in the playoffs the last couple years. Thomas has
• 2:27
Speaker 2: been the model of consistency. Okay, and and and super
• 2:30
Speaker 2: Bowl wins, super Bowl appearance, I think, another ANC championship,
• 2:34
Speaker 2: and in the playoffs every single year.
• 2:37
  Speaker 4: Here's here's and two and and I'm I'm with I'm
• 2:39
Speaker 4: with you, okay, But I'm gonna I'm gonna try to
• 2:42
Speaker 4: answer this in the way that I think you will say, yes,
• 2:47
Speaker 4: you're right, Okay, So what has happened. What has happened
• 2:55
Speaker 4: is now the quarterback is the guy. Now the quarterback
• 3:01
Speaker 4: is the guy. So fourteen games and you're winning fourteen games,
• 3:06
Speaker 4: I don't care. If you win fifteen games, you get
• 3:09
Speaker 4: to you get me to the playoffs, and we don't
• 3:11
Speaker 4: win over those year.
• 3:13
Speaker 2: After year after year after year. I ain't looking at the.
• 3:16
Speaker 4: Fourteen No, I'm just I'm just saying this is what
• 3:19
Speaker 4: I think that now we're looking for somebody who's gonna
• 3:25
Speaker 4: now get us over the hump, because you're not gonna
• 3:27
  Speaker 4: give that quarterback.
• 3:29
Speaker 2: You're not gonna give that quarterback.
• 3:30
Speaker 4: The whole structure of why we got to the playoffs
• 3:35
Speaker 4: and and and didn't get and didn't get to the
• 3:37
Speaker 4: super Bowl, we didn't win the super Bowl. You're gonna
• 3:40
Speaker 4: look at he's getting us fourteen wins every year, he's
• 3:44
Speaker 4: getting us in the playoffs every year.
• 3:46
Speaker 2: But we need more.
• 3:48
Speaker 4: But what I'm saying, though, is like in going back right, wronger, indifferent,
• 3:51
Speaker 4: I'm just thinking that's how that is. Going back to tom
• 3:53
Speaker 4: win again. If you got a quarterback who's getting consistently
• 3:56
Speaker 4: in the playoffs. You keep him, you don't trade him,
• 3:58
Speaker 4: because quarterbacks don't grow on cheath and it's same and
• 4:00
Speaker 4: it's the same thing for a coach. My thing with
• 4:03
Speaker 4: Thomas and again, I think, to me, the consistency actually hurting.
• 4:10
Speaker 4: I think they probably need not. But what I'm saying
• 4:13
Speaker 4: is I'm going the other way. He probably needed a
• 4:15
Speaker 4: very lose, bad, losing season, so that way because he
• 4:19
Speaker 4: could get better draft picks because at the undersink that
• 4:23
Speaker 4: he was going, you're at the end of the draft
• 4:26
Speaker 4: always right, You're never going to get the top You're
• 4:28
Speaker 4: not getting the top guy. And the fact of the
• 4:30
Speaker 4: matter is, when I wonder where's the GM at when
• 4:32
Speaker 4: it comes to Tomlin, because he like the quarterback.
• 4:35
Speaker 2: You're not picking out the quarterbacks. You're not picking out
• 4:37
Speaker 2: the players at least on your own right, right.
• 4:39
Speaker 5: I mean, I'm gonna throw some theories out there. They're
• 4:42
Speaker 5: not conspiracy theories, but but they're just fox that are
• 4:45
Speaker 5: coming out now that the dust is settling with Tomlin resigning,
• 4:49
  Speaker 5: as they said.
• 4:50
Speaker 6: But you know, in nineteen years, Tomlin, you.
• 4:53
Speaker 5: Know, he held the most consecutive non losing seasons in
• 4:58
Speaker 5: the NFL. He had the longest streak in NFL history. Okay,
• 5:01
Speaker 5: so we know, you know, he's consistent, just like you said, Hollis.
• 5:04
Speaker 6: But here's the thing.
• 5:06
Speaker 5: The Steelers, they still have contractual rights to him for
• 5:11
Speaker 5: another year. Okay, So if anybody would want to hire
• 5:15
Speaker 5: Tomlin in the next you know, next season, for the
• 5:18
Speaker 5: next season, they would likely have to do a trade
• 5:21
Speaker 5: for him. So, you know, I think that kind of
• 5:24
Speaker 5: muddies the waters that that fact is there. I don't
• 5:27
Speaker 5: think that's being advertised as much. I know he said
• 5:29
Speaker 5: that he wanted it, you know, to have personal time
• 5:31
Speaker 5: with his family and take a year off. But I
• 5:34
Speaker 5: also think that he and maybe Art Rooney the second
• 5:37
Speaker 5: probably had a conversation.
• 5:38
Speaker 2: About that, and I believe that, Yeah, I believe that.
• 5:41
Speaker 5: And so it wasn't a forced thing. But also it
• 5:43
Speaker 5: wasn't something that I don't believe Tomlin wanted to completely
• 5:48
Speaker 5: sit a year out, but he probably made an agreement
• 5:50
Speaker 5: with Art Rooney that he would just for the fact
• 5:52
Speaker 5: that it's the organization he loves, the Steelers.
• 5:55
  Speaker 2: I believe that.
• 5:55
Speaker 4: I don't think he like he didn't walk away, okay,
• 6:00
Speaker 4: like you think, I do not think he walked away.
• 6:04
Speaker 2: I think that there was.
• 6:05
Speaker 4: And the reason why is as soon as it came out,
• 6:10
Speaker 4: he's getting all of his retirement or whatever, buta da
• 6:12
Speaker 4: da dah, like nothing's he's not losing anything. So he's
• 6:16
Speaker 4: getting everything that possible that he could get. But I
• 6:21
Speaker 4: think shot sixteen million, I think, yes, but he the
• 6:26
Speaker 4: sixteen he left ain't gonna hurt him from what he's getting, Okay,
• 6:31
  Speaker 4: you know, And.
• 6:31
Speaker 2: So I think what happened.
• 6:34
Speaker 4: I truly believe wholeheartedly this was this was a sit
• 6:39
Speaker 4: down discussion and say, look, we you know, we want
• 6:43
Speaker 4: to go another way, but we don't. And again, we
• 6:45
Speaker 4: don't want to hurt you for no reason to get
• 6:48
Speaker 4: another job or anything like that. I think there was
• 6:51
Speaker 4: so much mutual respect for him that but they but
• 6:58
Speaker 4: but again they wanted to move on, and so so
• 7:02
Speaker 4: then how do we make this move?
• 7:06
Speaker 2: And everybody's okay, yeah, because I think for them it
• 7:09
Speaker 2: wasn't necessarily even about him. It was probably about them
• 7:11
Speaker 2: because they've been the model of consistency. So they only
• 7:14
Speaker 2: have three coaches since what's sixty nine?
• 7:15
Speaker 4: Yeah, and then how do you how do you realize,
• 7:18
Speaker 4: how do you how do you how would they have
• 7:20
Speaker 4: justified firing him and then him saying I have the
• 7:25
Speaker 4: winningest record, and you're in the playoffs and been in
• 7:28
Speaker 4: the playoffs, all these kinds of things. But but so
• 7:31
Speaker 4: I think in my mind there had to be like, look, man,
• 7:35
Speaker 4: you know, let's sit down, let's talk this out, give
• 7:38
Speaker 4: you another another opportunity to find you another place. We
• 7:42
Speaker 4: don't want to put anything. We don't want to scar
• 7:44
Speaker 4: you up by by firing min.
• 7:46
  Speaker 2: I don't think that was a I think they may
• 7:48
Speaker 2: have said that, but I think it was about them.
• 7:50
Speaker 2: They yeah, yeah, it was about them. But I told again,
• 7:54
Speaker 2: y'all gotta give me some praise of Warship Services, because
• 7:58
Speaker 2: I told y'all what was gonna happen. Said you get
• 8:00
Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers, I said this last year. I said he
• 8:03
Speaker 2: got in a year. I said, if you don't, if
• 8:05
  Speaker 2: you don't make a big din, you don't win a
• 8:06
Speaker 2: playoff game, you're out of there. This is what I
• 8:08
Speaker 2: said this last year. Because the fact of the matter,
• 8:11
Speaker 2: you you don't get Aaron you don't. You don't get
• 8:17
Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers for like a long term thing that's like, okay,
• 8:20
Speaker 2: we're ready to win now. So and to your point,
• 8:23
Speaker 2: I believe that conversation probably happened, and it was like,
• 8:26
Speaker 2: you know, we got to have at least one or
• 8:28
Speaker 2: two playoff wins. If we don't get that, then you're gone.
• 8:31
Speaker 2: So I think that. So I believe that. But to
• 8:34
Speaker 2: that same vein a Buffalo Bills coach.
• 8:37
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we've got uh Sean McDermott and
• 8:41
Speaker 5: that that's a whole complete well not really, it's not
• 8:45
Speaker 5: not completely different, because you know it is, do you really?
• 8:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, because you got a franchise quarterback.
• 8:51
Speaker 5: Well, and we'll get to that in a minute, because
• 8:53
Speaker 5: you know, but I'm saying as far as the success rate,
• 8:56
Speaker 5: because you've got Sean McDermott was ninety eight and threes
• 8:59
Speaker 5: in records he was there. That that's you You can't
• 9:01
Speaker 5: argue with that, right, And the difference between him and
• 9:05
Speaker 5: Tomlin is, you know, he continued he wants to continue coaching.
• 9:08
Speaker 6: I mean, he's already made that clear.
• 9:10
Speaker 5: He's thrown his his hat, you know, in the in
• 9:12
Speaker 5: the in the game, and you know now that he's
• 9:14
Speaker 5: been fired after nine seasons. The rumor is, the rumor
• 9:17
Speaker 5: is that, you know the problem wasn't the relationship that
• 9:22
Speaker 5: he and Josh Allen had, uh you know that they
• 9:25
Speaker 5: had mutual respect for each other. They they you know,
• 9:27
Speaker 5: I think I think Josh Allen saw him as a
• 9:29
Speaker 5: father figure. They had a personal relationship out off you know,
• 9:32
Speaker 5: outside of the game and off the field. The problem
• 9:36
Speaker 5: was McDermott is defensive oriented, yes, and he wanted to
• 9:41
Speaker 5: stop the bleeding as far as Josh Allen with his interceptions, turnovers,
• 9:46
Speaker 5: things of that nature.
• 9:48
Speaker 6: And uh, you know.
• 9:49
Speaker 5: After the o C I think was Brian de baul left,
• 9:52
Speaker 5: then there was the conflict started. I think he was
• 9:55
Speaker 5: the buffer and between he and Josh Allen, and once
• 9:59
Speaker 5: he left, I think Sean McDermott felt more comfortable letting
• 10:03
Speaker 5: Josh Allen know he had a more defensive philosophy and
• 10:07
Speaker 5: that kind of started the whole roller coaster of this.
• 10:11
  Speaker 2: I mean, it's I think it's one of those things
• 10:13
Speaker 2: and we'll talk probably talk about hardball too. It's like
• 10:16
Speaker 2: if you if you have a franchise quarterback, a potential
• 10:20
Speaker 2: on the CUSP Hall of Fame quarterback, he has that
• 10:23
Speaker 2: trajectory like at some point you gotta win. And if
• 10:27
Speaker 2: you look at the playoffs this year, as far as
• 10:29
Speaker 2: Josh Allen is concerned, You're not going against Patrick Mahomes,
• 10:32
Speaker 2: You're not going against Joe Burrow, You're not going against
• 10:35
Speaker 2: Lamar Jackson. So really, in the Buffalo Bill parbaty fan base,
• 10:40
Speaker 2: in locker room and administration, this was their year that
• 10:44
Speaker 2: they're supposed to win and if you don't win. But
• 10:47
Speaker 2: I will say this too. We could talk about coaches,
• 10:50
Speaker 2: but Josh Allen, but he had five turnovers. Yeah, you
• 10:53
Speaker 2: can't do that, and you're the best player in the world.
• 10:59
  Speaker 6: McDermot point right.
• 11:00
Speaker 5: I mean that's what he wanted to work on and
• 11:03
Speaker 5: take care of, and yet he gets fired for that philosophy.
• 11:05
Speaker 4: Well, and and again to Hollis, I'll go with you.
• 11:10
Speaker 2: You can't I don't care what position you play. You can't.
• 11:17
Speaker 4: Chatter about anything money or anything disruptive of the team.
• 11:26
Speaker 4: And all of a sudden, you get into a game,
• 11:28
Speaker 4: a big game, a playoff game, and you do nothing.
• 11:32
Speaker 2: You you you played back Josh Allen that.
• 11:34
Speaker 5: Type of player, though, did he do? I know a
• 11:38
Speaker 5: lot of are like that what you're talking about. I
• 11:41
Speaker 5: don't think he's that. He doesn't fit that stereo.
• 11:43
Speaker 2: But the best player in.
• 11:44
Speaker 4: The world, well, quote unquote, you got to show you
• 11:47
Speaker 4: got to show up and and too, and and again.
• 11:50
Speaker 4: To take that even a step further. You have to
• 11:54
Speaker 4: step up not in just the regular season the games
• 11:58
Speaker 4: that you must win. Those game, is that that that
• 12:01
Speaker 4: playoff game, that second playoff game, get to the super Bowl.
• 12:05
Speaker 4: You might be able to lose the super Bowl once
• 12:07
Speaker 4: or twice, but you can't lose in in in the
• 12:11
Speaker 4: playoffs and just think that you're gonna be okay because
• 12:14
Speaker 4: they're looking at you. It's first to get there. Then
• 12:18
Speaker 4: once you start getting there, now you got to start
• 12:22
Speaker 4: to take them. You gotta start moving out and see that.
• 12:24
Speaker 2: And that to me, that's the difference between Tomlin and
• 12:27
Speaker 2: you know, Harball and McDermott because Tomlin never since Ben
• 12:30
Speaker 2: Roethlisberger retired, he never had a franchise quarterback. You know,
• 12:35
Speaker 2: you got in Baltimore, in Buffalo, you have two quarterbacks
• 12:39
Speaker 2: who are in their prime, and you're still not getting
• 12:42
Speaker 2: over the hump. So I was just saying, man, I mean,
• 12:44
Speaker 2: I understand, you know, far as them letting those coaches go,
• 12:48
Speaker 2: but just in the case of Buffalo, that game was
• 12:51
Speaker 2: on Josh, I'm with you, but and I would say
• 12:54
Speaker 2: this too, not to give him no excuses but you
• 12:56
Speaker 2: do have I mean they they had a pretty rough
• 12:59
Speaker 2: role trip because you got to go from Buffalo, then
• 13:02
Speaker 2: you go to Jacksonville and the next week you turn
• 13:04
Speaker 2: around and you going a mile high those that's not
• 13:07
Speaker 2: an easy not roll the travel.
• 13:09
Speaker 5: The travel probably played a part. But but this is
• 13:11
Speaker 5: kind of a pattern that Josh Allen had this year.
• 13:15
Speaker 5: And and that's what I said. You know, Sean McDermott
• 13:18
Speaker 5: wanted to do something to kind of alleviate the issue
• 13:22
Speaker 5: of his turnovers and and and maybe you know, shift
• 13:25
Speaker 5: the philosophy of the offense a little bit from the
• 13:27
Speaker 5: past more to the run. And I think that's when
• 13:30
Speaker 5: you know Josh Allen. And here's the thing about it.
• 13:33
Speaker 5: I mean, you know, Josh Allen was so emotional during
• 13:36
Speaker 5: the press conference after the game. He was you know,
• 13:39
Speaker 5: and and it just makes you wonder was it a
• 13:41
Speaker 5: combination of knowing maybe because.
• 13:44
Speaker 6: He had to be aware.
• 13:46
  Speaker 2: I don't know, if I don't mean five turnovers that
• 13:49
Speaker 2: that'll bring the tears out, Yeah, I.
• 13:56
Speaker 5: Think when you start, but he had a certain he
• 13:59
Speaker 5: had to have a certain awarenes you know, the management
• 14:01
Speaker 5: is not going to do anything that their franchise quarterback
• 14:04
Speaker 5: is not happy about.
• 14:06
Speaker 4: But okay, so if Hollis and you know this for
• 14:10
Speaker 4: a fact, at least I'm sure you even know this,
• 14:12
Speaker 4: just just just for the facts of it. You're in
• 14:16
Speaker 4: a major game, and you're one of the guys, like
• 14:19
Speaker 4: you're one of the dudes.
• 14:23
Speaker 2: Make the case that even one of the game you
• 14:26
  Speaker 2: have to.
• 14:28
Speaker 4: I can appreciate this passion, crying and all that, but
• 14:34
Speaker 4: you didn't show up.
• 14:35
Speaker 5: You said that with a smirk in Facebook away from
• 14:38
  Speaker 5: a defensive guy.
• 14:39
Speaker 2: Right, you didn't show up. And I think that, like
• 14:46
Speaker 2: and when, when you.
• 14:47
Speaker 4: Don't show up in a game like that, you are saying,
• 14:53
Speaker 4: or your actions are saying you're not ready for this.
• 14:58
  Speaker 4: I mean, I know I wouldn't go that far. He
• 15:02
Speaker 4: just had a bad game at a bad time. There's
• 15:05
Speaker 4: no such thing as a bad game at the bad time.
• 15:07
Speaker 4: You can't have a bad game at the bad time,
• 15:09
Speaker 4: not in the NFL, not for long. I mean, like
• 15:13
Speaker 4: I said, you know, if you look at all these guys,
• 15:16
Speaker 4: if you look at this situation, there's some reality of
• 15:21
Speaker 4: you need to be great now. I mean, we're looking
• 15:24
Speaker 4: to be great now.
• 15:25
Speaker 2: And again I agree with you on that, But like
• 15:29
Speaker 2: I said, I think he had a bad game. You know,
• 15:30
Speaker 2: the picks are the picks, those can be some of
• 15:34
Speaker 2: those may be contribute to the defense is making better plays.
• 15:36
Speaker 2: I think the biggest issue probably was the fumbles. That's
• 15:40
Speaker 2: maybe something you could control the tab bit more. And
• 15:44
Speaker 2: like I said, I just think he had a bad
• 15:45
Speaker 2: game of bad spot.
• 15:46
Speaker 6: Well, let me let me ask you bouth this guys.
• 15:48
Speaker 5: So you know you've got the second winning a coach
• 15:51
Speaker 5: in franchise history. Okay, that's what Sean McDermott meant to
• 15:55
Speaker 5: the Buffalo Bills. Okay, he's only behind Marv Leevy. So
• 16:00
Speaker 5: lev or Levy Levy, isn't it Levy lev Good?
• 16:03
Speaker 6: I said it, right, all.
• 16:04
Speaker 2: Right, at least don't so you're taking my work.
• 16:07
Speaker 6: Well, the audience can correct me later. I'm sure they will.
• 16:10
Speaker 5: So, so, how can you justify his firing today? I mean,
• 16:15
Speaker 5: I mean, when you look at the like you're just said, Hollish,
• 16:17
Speaker 5: you look at the play of Josh Allen, you look
• 16:21
Speaker 5: at look at what happened during the game, How in
• 16:23
Speaker 5: the world can you blame it on him?
• 16:25
Speaker 2: I don't understand, because somebody gotta take the blame, and
• 16:28
Speaker 2: you're not getting rid of your franchise quarterback.
• 16:30
Speaker 6: Right, and that seems to be a trend in the NFL.
• 16:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you got nine NFL coaches who have
• 16:36
Speaker 2: been fired. But that's like, what about like a quarter
• 16:39
Speaker 2: over a quarter of the league is gone, you know
• 16:42
Speaker 2: what I'm saying. And and and hardball you got to
• 16:44
Speaker 2: talk about him too well.
• 16:46
Speaker 4: And and again, if I'm the head coach, and and
• 16:50
Speaker 4: we and I feel like we're in that case, there
• 16:53
Speaker 4: was a great chance that somebody could be knocking on
• 16:55
Speaker 4: my door. You know what I'm gonna do, Hollis, I'm
• 16:57
Speaker 4: coming knocking on your door because you the quarterback. I'm
• 17:00
Speaker 4: going to try to make sure management and all the
• 17:03
Speaker 4: people who are involved in my firing or hiring, let's
• 17:07
Speaker 4: letting you know. I'm I'm trying to make some changes.
• 17:11
Speaker 4: I feel like I got to make changes. Yes, You're
• 17:13
Speaker 4: not making change with Josh Allen. Yes, absolutely, I'm not.
• 17:18
Speaker 5: Josh all is the one telling them the changes that
• 17:20
Speaker 5: that he thinks needs to be You may.
• 17:22
Speaker 4: Have that opportunity, but in most cases, in most cases, okay,
• 17:27
Speaker 4: if you think that you're going to be gone, like
• 17:30
Speaker 4: and I don't think Josh there was no place for
• 17:33
Speaker 4: him to think that there'd be no reason for him
• 17:35
Speaker 4: to be gone. Okay, but if it's if it's that
• 17:40
Speaker 4: or the coach, it's gonna be the coach. And again,
• 17:46
Speaker 4: my quick I'm looking at the coach. I'm looking at
• 17:49
Speaker 4: being the coach. How do I do I save myself?
• 17:53
Speaker 2: If you you're not if you want to management right
• 17:57
Speaker 2: now and said, well, let's consider moving Josh Allen.
• 18:00
Speaker 4: You're fired. There, you're done. You just signed your Yeah,
• 18:05
  Speaker 4: you're done.
• 18:06
Speaker 2: You know what I mean. It's just like Jim Harball.
• 18:08
Speaker 2: I'm sure at some point he was frustrated with the
• 18:11
Speaker 2: play of Lamar Jackson or lack of or Derrick Henry.
• 18:14
Speaker 2: But you're not gonna go into Ozzie News them off
• 18:17
Speaker 2: for whoever the management there and say oh, let's get
• 18:19
Speaker 2: rid of them. No, you're gonna be gone because they're
• 18:22
Speaker 2: in their mind they're looking at I have a franchise
• 18:24
Speaker 2: quarterback here. It's when you as the coach to make
• 18:27
  Speaker 2: this thing happen.
• 18:28
Speaker 4: Okay, well let me ask let me okay, so I'm
• 18:30
Speaker 4: gonna roll with you.
• 18:31
Speaker 2: Okay, you know it's two to one.
• 18:33
Speaker 4: It looks like all right, I'm gonna so let me
• 18:37
  Speaker 4: throw this out.
• 18:41
Speaker 2: When is it. When is it that.
• 18:45
Speaker 4: That management, okay, management is reaching out to that quarterback
• 18:50
Speaker 4: and letting them go how far? How far off the
• 18:53
Speaker 4: playoff path? A couple of losing seasons? When do you
• 18:57
Speaker 4: think that it is now literally management? I don't management
• 19:05
Speaker 4: the quarter When do they blame the quarterback?
• 19:08
Speaker 2: I would say, you gotta have maybe a couple losing seasons,
• 19:11
Speaker 2: and you gotta have maybe a slight declining skill set
• 19:15
Speaker 2: or you have to be a maybe a cancer to
• 19:16
Speaker 2: the locker room. Because again, quarterback leap play at a
• 19:22
Speaker 2: high level. And you've been doing consistently, although you may
• 19:25
Speaker 2: have not gotten to the super Bowl. But if you're
• 19:26
Speaker 2: getting like a Josh Allen, if you're getting to the playoffs,
• 19:29
Speaker 2: you getting to the AFC Championships like you're getting far,
• 19:32
Speaker 2: you got great stats, great numbers, you don't trade the guy.
• 19:35
Speaker 2: It's just as you can't let him go. You can't
• 19:37
Speaker 2: you cannot move him because you're not guaranteed to have
• 19:41
Speaker 2: another guy. We see how many teams just don't can
• 19:46
Speaker 2: never figure out the quarterback. We've seen Minnesota, you had
• 19:49
Speaker 2: Sam Donald one year and you're in the playoffs, who
• 19:50
Speaker 2: went in fourteen games, and the next year you're sitting
• 19:53
Speaker 2: it home. And the biggest change was Sam Donald. I'm
• 19:56
Speaker 2: sure there was other little micro changes, but the big
• 19:58
Speaker 2: change with that quarterback position. And nobody would even consider
• 20:01
Speaker 2: him an elite guy. And but what I'll say is to
• 20:06
Speaker 2: that getting in the right system. Sometimes getting in the
• 20:11
Speaker 2: right system helps you even more because there's there's been
• 20:16
  Speaker 2: a lot there's been a lot of quarterbacks, there's been
• 20:18
Speaker 2: a lot of running backs. There's been a lot of
• 20:20
Speaker 2: receivers who have not been able to do their best
• 20:24
Speaker 2: until you put him in a system that works really
• 20:27
Speaker 2: for them. But I think system now is a little
• 20:30
Speaker 2: bit overrated because everybody runs the same thing. No, I
• 20:34
Speaker 2: really do. I really do, because because everybody, they're gonna
• 20:38
Speaker 2: tailor the system to you. Now. The coaches aren't like
• 20:42
Speaker 2: what they used to be. They're gonna I'm gonna run
• 20:43
Speaker 2: what I run. No, they're gonna tailor that. Some do,
• 20:48
Speaker 2: and I don't think they all do.
• 20:50
Speaker 4: I think there are still that that that that super
• 20:54
Speaker 4: that guy who is super sure that his system works everywhere.
• 20:58
Speaker 2: That guy's not hosting that high level because that thing's
• 21:01
Speaker 2: got to be a.
• 21:01
Speaker 5: Just And I really truly think all of these things happening.
• 21:04
Speaker 5: We're and we're seeing what happens to these coaches whenever
• 21:07
Speaker 5: things are you know, not favorable between themselves and in
• 21:12
Speaker 5: the franchise quarterback that we're entering this era where the
• 21:16
Speaker 5: body of work that you produce as a coach during
• 21:20
Speaker 5: the season doesn't matter. All that matters is January, Yes,
• 21:24
Speaker 5: January and and and so.
• 21:27
Speaker 2: But but I would say that depends on the franchise
• 21:29
  Speaker 2: too well to.
• 21:30
Speaker 5: A degree, because if you were all don't you think
• 21:32
Speaker 5: overall those But that's what we're seeing.
• 21:34
Speaker 2: I think, to your degree, to your point, your own
• 21:38
Speaker 2: success can hurt you. So if you are a person
• 21:41
Speaker 2: who consistently gets there, like I said, you've consistently have
• 21:44
Speaker 2: goog regular seasons like tomlind Yeah didn't. That don't matter
• 21:47
Speaker 2: no more? What are you doing here? But if you're
• 21:48
Speaker 2: coaching in Miami and you get Miami to the playoffs, great.
• 21:52
  Speaker 4: See I say, that's what I said about That's what
• 21:54
Speaker 4: I said about Tomlin after a while his being good
• 21:58
Speaker 4: or great even wasn't enough.
• 22:01
Speaker 2: We want more. We won a.
• 22:02
Speaker 5: Super Bowl, And it depends on the fan base being spoiled,
• 22:06
Speaker 5: is what I would You know, There are there are,
• 22:09
Speaker 5: there are teams out there that would you know, just
• 22:11
Speaker 5: just absolutely go crazy if their team made the playoffs,
• 22:15
Speaker 5: their coach would be, you know, signing a huge contract,
• 22:17
Speaker 5: while other ones, like the Steelers who consistently go to
• 22:20
Speaker 5: the playoffs and consistently lose the wild card game or
• 22:23
Speaker 5: the or the following, you know that the game to
• 22:25
Speaker 5: get into the championship, they're not happy with that anymore.
• 22:29
  Speaker 6: I mean, you know, it's what you're it's levels of
• 22:32
Speaker 6: expectation from the fans.
• 22:33
  Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know this, and I probably
• 22:36
Speaker 2: should have. I should have looked it up.
• 22:38
Speaker 4: But any of these quarterbacks, because if I'm a quarterback
• 22:45
Speaker 4: in today's game in NFL, the one thing that I'm
• 22:48
Speaker 4: going after is a guaranteed contract.
• 22:51
Speaker 2: Yeah. Before so, I'm.
• 22:54
Speaker 4: Curious, do you think any of these I would have
• 22:58
Speaker 4: to assume these guys have guaranteed contracts and so that
• 23:04
Speaker 4: in all reality, money is not the issue because they're
• 23:06
Speaker 4: still gonna get it until they go unless they go
• 23:08
Speaker 4: somewhere else, Am I right?
• 23:09
Speaker 2: I mean? Yeah, money, I mean I think I thought, wow,
• 23:12
Speaker 2: I mean, you know, these all these guys make millions.
• 23:14
Speaker 5: Yeah, It's kind of like the case with Tomin Like
• 23:16
Speaker 5: I said, they still have contractual rights the Steelers.
• 23:19
  Speaker 2: I don't. I don't think money would be like the
• 23:21
Speaker 2: issue in this well no, but my reasoning for it
• 23:24
Speaker 2: because if I'm if I'm guaranteed, if I'm guaranteed it,
• 23:29
Speaker 2: are you really thinking about letting me go, especially if
• 23:32
Speaker 2: it's a big you know it might be some of
• 23:35
Speaker 2: these dudes are a big deal. I mean, I think
• 23:36
Speaker 2: money is a fact. But they're not letting these guys go.
• 23:39
Speaker 2: You're not letting Josh Allen go. You're not lett Lamar
• 23:41
Speaker 2: Jackson go. You're not doing that. You're letting the coach go.
• 23:44
Speaker 2: And they just showed us that they did it. So
• 23:45
Speaker 2: hard Ball's gone, Tomlin gone, Buffalo, He's gone. You're not
• 23:50
Speaker 2: letting your franchise quarterback go because what they're seeing now
• 23:54
Speaker 2: is that you may not get another shot if you
• 23:57
Speaker 2: let him go. Because I think, like I said, a
• 23:58
Speaker 2: team like Minnesota, you're gonna be hurting for a couple
• 24:01
Speaker 2: of years until if McCarty can really get it going.
• 24:04
Speaker 2: You don't let franchise quarterback go. Say, that's not even
• 24:06
Speaker 2: in the discussion at this point, not in their prime.
• 24:09
Speaker 2: I'm not even But are we are we putting that
• 24:12
Speaker 2: title on them. Yeah, too soon. No, you MVPs. These
• 24:16
Speaker 2: are MVPs. Josh Allen. We can't really put Patrick Mahoe
• 24:20
Speaker 2: because he's surpassed them. But Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, you're
• 24:25
Speaker 2: not letting these guys go. And if you do, you
• 24:28
Speaker 2: better have a plan.
• 24:29
Speaker 6: Coaches are replaceable. I mean that's the way they look
• 24:32
  Speaker 6: at it.
• 24:32
Speaker 5: There's so many out there, and like I said, you know,
• 24:34
Speaker 5: what they do consistently doesn't doesn't really matter. They they
• 24:39
Speaker 5: look at the coach and they blame the coach for
• 24:41
  Speaker 5: quarterback performance.

Speaker 3: real experience, real results, Frank Walker Law dot com. Let
• 26:04
Speaker 3: that conversation begin on Let's talk.
• 26:08
Speaker 6: Unfortunately, that's what we've come to, Carl.
• 26:11
Speaker 2: So, so we got the playoffs, So we got New England,
• 26:15
Speaker 2: New Denver, and then you got Seattle versus l A.
• 26:18
Speaker 2: That game last night was phenomenal. That's one thing I
• 26:22
Speaker 2: will say these playoffs. The playoff games have been great,
• 26:28
Speaker 2: Like it was like the only one that was like
• 26:30
Speaker 2: the Seattle of San Francisco that was a blowout that
• 26:33
Speaker 2: But other than that, these games have been epic. These
• 26:36
Speaker 2: have been some really good games and like I said,
• 26:39
Speaker 2: I was not a believer in Caleb Williams from Chicago.
• 26:42
Speaker 2: I was not a believer. He turned me into a
• 26:44
Speaker 2: believer last night, and I wanted to.
• 26:47
  Speaker 6: Unbelievable.
• 26:48
Speaker 2: But even mass Stafford, I mean the passes he was making,
• 26:51
Speaker 2: He's not a spring chicken anymore. I mean he was
• 26:53
Speaker 2: throwing darts and dimes just all over the field. Great games.
• 26:57
Speaker 2: So who do we got? So we got, uh, we'll
• 27:00
Speaker 2: start with New England versus Denver. Who we got? See now,
• 27:05
Speaker 2: if if we're going to Denver, we're going.
• 27:08
Speaker 5: Right, yes, yes, If bon Nicks we're still in the game,
• 27:12
Speaker 5: you know, then then that would be an easy decision
• 27:14
  Speaker 5: for me.
• 27:15
  Speaker 7: Wo.
• 27:16
Speaker 6: Yeah, I would have said Broncos.
• 27:17
Speaker 5: But now that they're going with their their backup quarterback,
• 27:20
Speaker 5: you know, with him being out and uh he is
• 27:22
  Speaker 5: it May? I think it's Drake May. He's like, they're
• 27:25
Speaker 5: the young quarterback for the Patriots that's supposed to be
• 27:29
  Speaker 5: really good. Yeah, he's he's good. So I think it's
• 27:32
Speaker 5: it's kind of a toss up. Now I would have
• 27:35
Speaker 5: gone definitely with Denver, but now I think the Patriots
• 27:37
Speaker 5: may have an edge other than the travel.
• 27:39
Speaker 4: Piece they got to go to Mahou, But I would
• 27:41
Speaker 4: go with the Patriots on that one as well. I'm
• 27:44
Speaker 4: going to go against both of you. I'm going to
• 27:46
Speaker 4: go to Denver, just just for the I don't want
• 27:51
Speaker 4: to be I don't want it's all three to be I.
• 27:54
Speaker 5: Can you take something with our host, he's very contrary tonight.
• 27:59
Speaker 2: I want to say I won. Then we got the
• 28:03
Speaker 2: Then we have the next game. We got Seattle in
• 28:05
Speaker 2: l A the rams uh. I think that NFC West
• 28:10
Speaker 2: teams in the in the in the championship. That's gonna
• 28:13
Speaker 2: be a good one.
• 28:13
Speaker 5: I think I think that's the blowout game. You think
• 28:15
  Speaker 5: that's I think Seattle. I think Seattle they're they're fast
• 28:20
Speaker 5: there sides of the ball. I think I think they
• 28:25
Speaker 5: went it all to be honest, I did it would
• 28:29
Speaker 5: be wo I hope, I hope I get that right
• 28:31
Speaker 5: so I can like start the show like you did today.
• 28:34
Speaker 6: Mind you guys, I had to let y'all know. I
• 28:40
Speaker 6: told you I remember, remember, remember she.
• 28:43
Speaker 2: Tried to forget it first forget I told you what.
• 28:51
  Speaker 6: That's so funny.
• 28:53
  Speaker 2: I would I would probably go with l A. And
• 28:54
Speaker 2: now where is it is? It is it in? It's
• 28:57
  Speaker 2: in Seattle?
• 28:57
Speaker 6: Right, yes, yes, man, Yeah, that's that's a hard one.
• 29:02
Speaker 4: I mean, I'm gonna go with mas Staffords. I'm gonna
• 29:05
Speaker 4: go with la to go back. I'm gonna go with
• 29:07
  Speaker 4: l A. All right, With l A, I think they'll
• 29:10
  Speaker 4: they'll get it.
• 29:11
Speaker 6: You're gonna stay on that one, are you? That's all right?
• 29:13
Speaker 2: Who you got coach?
• 29:14
Speaker 4: I'm against you, against you, of us, all us.
• 29:25
  Speaker 6: Don't let him.
• 29:26
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 29:27
Speaker 2: Yeah. The only reason I released this because she's on
• 29:29
Speaker 2: the same side with me.
• 29:31
Speaker 6: Every once in a while.
• 29:33
Speaker 2: Right now, about a half an hour, maybe about an hour,
• 29:36
Speaker 2: we're gonna have the college football. The one thing I
• 29:39
Speaker 2: wanted to ask you guys, is that one thing they've
• 29:41
Speaker 2: been saying about Indiana and they've been talking about they've
• 29:45
Speaker 2: been kind of it's sort of been like a they've
• 29:49
Speaker 2: been kind of going back and forth. It's been an
• 29:51
Speaker 2: interesting argument for and against Indiana because what they were
• 29:55
Speaker 2: saying on one hand is that this is an example
• 29:58
Speaker 2: of how n I on the transfer portal, that you
• 30:00
Speaker 2: could take a school like Indiana who's never won anything right, right,
• 30:04
Speaker 2: and they can ascend to being in the championship. But
• 30:07
Speaker 2: on the on the flip side of that, the player,
• 30:11
Speaker 2: the average as by the older is me for Indiana,
• 30:14
Speaker 2: Like they got a lot of twenties three twenty four,
• 30:18
Speaker 2: six years old playing, So they got a lot of
• 30:20
Speaker 2: quote unquote grown men playing for Indiana. So it's kind
• 30:24
Speaker 2: of one of those things. It's like it's a good
• 30:26
Speaker 2: part of the transfer portal in NIL, but it's also
• 30:29
Speaker 2: showing the bad part. Like what do you guys, how
• 30:31
Speaker 2: do you do you look at that positively or negatively?
• 30:34
Speaker 4: I look at that as negative and I and I
• 30:37
Speaker 4: think that NIL is should be if if we're gonna
• 30:43
Speaker 4: do this that way, if we're gonna play around with NIL,
• 30:46
Speaker 4: that's how we're gonna that's how we're gonna build our team.
• 30:50
Speaker 4: There has to be an age limit or some some
• 30:53
Speaker 4: peak to where you no longer are able to get
• 30:58
Speaker 4: money to play. So for these red Shirts, let me
• 31:02
Speaker 4: let me understand if I'm understanding right, you're saying that
• 31:06
Speaker 4: you can still play if you're a certain age, but
• 31:08
Speaker 4: you can't get money for no, you can't eat to me, like,
• 31:11
Speaker 4: there's there should be an age limit toge sen you
• 31:14
Speaker 4: out of college football.
• 31:16
Speaker 5: See, I'm going to go against you on this because
• 31:19
Speaker 5: I feel like it's a positive just because of the
• 31:21
Speaker 5: fact teams like Indiana can take advantage of that. You know,
• 31:25
Speaker 5: you're gonna have your younger players that can get the
• 31:27
Speaker 5: money at Alabama and Georgia and those SEC teams that
• 31:30
Speaker 5: are traditionally your powerhouses, that the younger kids are drawn
• 31:34
Speaker 5: to those schools, the older students that have been out
• 31:38
Speaker 5: there that okay, older adults, but they're all adults technically,
• 31:43
Speaker 5: but to me, they're kids because look, you know, but anyway,
• 31:47
Speaker 5: I think, you know, for these schools like Indiana, these
• 31:49
Speaker 5: schools that aren't your typical football schools, for them to
• 31:53
Speaker 5: be successful and reach a stage like this, we need that.
• 31:56
  Speaker 6: Type of system.
• 31:57
Speaker 5: So you know, for the for the teams that aren't
• 31:59
Speaker 5: traditionally in the in the talk for the college football
• 32:01
Speaker 5: playoff or the championship game, this is this is something
• 32:04
  Speaker 5: that they need.
• 32:06
Speaker 2: I agree with you, like I would say it's a positive.
• 32:09
Speaker 2: The only thing I don't like is, you know, I
• 32:13
Speaker 2: don't want to see a kid like you transferred this
• 32:15
Speaker 2: is like your fifth school. That's the thing. I think
• 32:18
Speaker 2: it just takes away.
• 32:19
Speaker 4: But to that, like what if I'm what if I'm
• 32:24
Speaker 4: twenty five and I've been to three schools and I'm
• 32:26
Speaker 4: twenty five and I'm starting at quarterback, like and and
• 32:31
Speaker 4: the's a kid eighteen that's starting on the other side
• 32:34
  Speaker 4: of the ball.
• 32:35
Speaker 2: Come on, why aren't you in the league?
• 32:39
  Speaker 6: I mean, I mean.
• 32:41
Speaker 2: Back the quarterback from Miami. He's telling them. They was
• 32:45
Speaker 2: asking him like, did you go to class? Woooo?
• 32:47
Speaker 4: He's like, man, I graduated two years ago, he said,
• 32:51
Speaker 4: I graduated to So he's been in college all time.
• 32:57
Speaker 4: There's nothing about that. There can't be anything about that.
• 33:00
  Speaker 4: That's okay.
• 33:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think we can. But we just
• 33:03
Speaker 2: say it's okay because again, a school like Indiana wouldn't
• 33:07
Speaker 2: have been there, even Miami, but they're back because of this.
• 33:10
Speaker 5: I mean, I think for these schools, like I said,
• 33:12
Speaker 5: that a typical typically in the conversation for this game
• 33:15
  Speaker 5: or looking time.
• 33:19
Speaker 2: So are we so? So are we? Okay?
• 33:23
Speaker 4: We are we so interested in allowing everybody to get
• 33:27
  Speaker 4: in an opportunity?
• 33:29
Speaker 2: You know what I would say? Because because.
• 33:36
  Speaker 3: Player.
• 33:38
Speaker 4: But here's the thing though, prior to this, what do
• 33:40
Speaker 4: we have? We had the same ten schools always make
• 33:44
Speaker 4: it Alabama, l s U, Auburn, USC Texas, Notre Dame, Florida,
• 33:50
  Speaker 4: Florida State, Miami.
• 33:51
Speaker 2: This was every single year they're in the place.
• 33:55
Speaker 4: So now you because I because again I'm like I said,
• 33:58
Speaker 4: I love coach saving all that, but I think a
• 33:59
Speaker 4: lot of them coaches, including coach, but got out of
• 34:01
Speaker 4: coaching because you he knew he can't stack talent no more.
• 34:05
Speaker 4: So you can't have the the second best running back
• 34:08
Speaker 4: in the entire country. He don't even start for you,
• 34:11
Speaker 4: like he's on your bench, he's running down tackling the kickoff.
• 34:15
Speaker 4: You can't have them because that kid's going somewhere else.
• 34:17
Speaker 2: Now. So I like it because now it's a fair
• 34:21
  Speaker 2: I'm fine.
• 34:22
Speaker 4: I'm fine with that. My only my only argument is age.
• 34:28
Speaker 6: So you want to, okay, what would be the appropriate age.
• 34:31
Speaker 4: For you whatever whatever the natural grade or age that
• 34:34
Speaker 4: you should graduate in college.
• 34:36
Speaker 6: But there is one, is there?
• 34:38
Speaker 4: So that would be like twenty years? Yeah, you got
• 34:40
Speaker 4: four years in college as an athlete. Three Yeah, you're done.
• 34:45
Speaker 2: Yeah. And if you don't go to the league, you
• 34:48
Speaker 2: don't go to the league.
• 34:49
Speaker 5: If these guys are getting second chances and when you know,
• 34:52
Speaker 5: and that's the positive.
• 34:54
Speaker 4: You'll get on second page. But I want a second
• 34:56
Speaker 4: chance in the league. Can I go back and play?
• 34:59
Speaker 2: No? But the thing is like, I mean, to your point,
• 35:03
Speaker 2: somebody call you me, just call me. But put to
• 35:09
Speaker 2: your point, I mean kind of looking at it from
• 35:11
Speaker 2: your perspective. I mean, you do have like twenty six playing.
• 35:17
Speaker 4: Do you really know you GOYI there's a couple of
• 35:22
  Speaker 4: there's a couple of things.
• 35:23
Speaker 2: I think I think Carson Beck is about twenty he's
• 35:27
Speaker 2: twenty four to twenty five. I mean, we we're seeing it.
• 35:30
  Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know. I'm not sure. We talked
• 35:31
Speaker 2: about it last week, but we're seeing like the college
• 35:33
Speaker 2: basketball guys like they've signed professional contracts to play overseas.
• 35:38
Speaker 2: Them guys is gone on thirds and they're coming up.
• 35:41
Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, that's that's And at that age.
• 35:44
Speaker 2: Man, you got so much more like just you're you're
• 35:47
Speaker 2: way stronger, You filled out your body. You got so
• 35:49
Speaker 2: much knowledge that and be seen and to that.
• 35:52
Speaker 6: Like so it's not fair, is what you're saying.
• 35:54
Speaker 5: No, the physical count somebody Gibson for Carl, he wants
• 35:59
Speaker 5: another year of eligibility.
• 36:00
Speaker 4: The physicality of age that you're able to want to
• 36:06
Speaker 4: hit a guy, can hit a guy, is different.
• 36:09
Speaker 2: Than when you were younger. Because I tell you what, Indiana,
• 36:12
Speaker 2: be out there hit.
• 36:14
  Speaker 6: They're good.
• 36:15
Speaker 2: Like I was watching them burn the playoffs and I was,
• 36:17
Speaker 2: you know, and I had to watch consecutive games and
• 36:20
  Speaker 2: I didn't you know, I watched them a little bit
• 36:21
Speaker 2: during the regular season, but I've watched every playoff game
• 36:24
Speaker 2: they play, and they be out there. Land would like,
• 36:28
Speaker 2: it's it's really you can tell the physicality because I'm
• 36:31
Speaker 2: looking at them playing Ohio State and I could not
• 36:34
Speaker 2: believe that they just our man out muscled Ohio State.
• 36:38
Speaker 2: They was out there hit.
• 36:39
Speaker 5: So so let me ask you guys this question. So
• 36:42
Speaker 5: obviously Miami's playing at home, you know, that's just way
• 36:45
Speaker 5: the cars fell. They get a home game for them.
• 36:48
Speaker 6: Do you think that's going to play a role in it?
• 36:50
Speaker 5: I mean astars like the fans, I think so. Somebody
• 36:54
Speaker 5: said today or I think it was on Pat MacAfee
• 36:57
Speaker 5: something about well they didn't think Indiana traveled well. Well,
• 37:00
Speaker 5: he started naming all this, all these famous alumni that
• 37:03
Speaker 5: that you you would have been surprised at the list.
• 37:06
Speaker 6: Like Mark Cuban attended university.
• 37:08
Speaker 5: He felt like, you know that that there's going to
• 37:11
Speaker 5: be more of a turnout than people think.
• 37:13
Speaker 2: I think. I think I think in the past Miami.
• 37:17
Speaker 2: Staying in Miami for the championship game would have been
• 37:20
Speaker 2: a problem. But now because you got grown men, ain't
• 37:23
Speaker 2: nobody getting in trouble. Ain't nobody You ain't heard, We
• 37:28
Speaker 2: ain't heard, no controversy. No, right, this player got arrested.
• 37:32
Speaker 2: We don't really hear that. We don't hear that. Those
• 37:34
Speaker 2: things don't happen as much anymore, right, So I don't
• 37:38
  Speaker 2: I think it's to to your point least, it's a
• 37:41
  Speaker 2: it's a tass. It's a toss toss up, you know
• 37:43
Speaker 2: what I'm saying, Because again, you got grown men on
• 37:45
Speaker 2: both sides, so they're not really they've been here before.
• 37:48
Speaker 6: Then they're done that. Carl, you disagree, I'll say this.
• 37:55
Speaker 2: I think Miami playing at home and.
• 38:02
Speaker 4: The history that's what we watched, Yeah, and the history
• 38:06
Speaker 4: of that franchise and championships is huge. And former players
• 38:13
Speaker 4: who played in the league, right that were great players
• 38:17
Speaker 4: there they're showing up and all of them, yeah, yeah,
• 38:20
Speaker 4: they're gonna show yeah. And to me, I'm not guarantee
• 38:24
Speaker 4: I'm not saying that's guaranteeing them a reason to win.
• 38:28
Speaker 4: But I think I think for the players and the coach,
• 38:33
Speaker 4: I mean, make it even worse on the coach.
• 38:35
  Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, but I see, I just don't I
• 38:40
Speaker 2: just don't know if.
• 38:43
Speaker 4: If that's if if you can, if you can put
• 38:48
Speaker 4: that team out there, you put the University of Miami
• 38:50
Speaker 4: out there with all of the guys who have been
• 38:53
Speaker 4: there before, have won national championships, all those kind of things,
• 38:58
  Speaker 4: and you're a you're a nineteen twenty year old kid
• 39:02
Speaker 4: out there playing for the University of Miami and you're
• 39:05
Speaker 4: looking at these newes.
• 39:06
Speaker 2: First of all, your starstruck.
• 39:08
  Speaker 6: Yeah that's a good point.
• 39:10
Speaker 4: Are you A lot of these guys have probably been
• 39:13
Speaker 4: around at practice and all that, But are.
• 39:15
Speaker 2: You star truck though? Because these guys are these are
• 39:17
Speaker 2: these are young kids. I don't even know if that well,
• 39:19
Speaker 2: they're not a grown man who watched them. You know,
• 39:24
  Speaker 2: I walked, I went.
• 39:26
Speaker 4: There's guys you see in the league when you first
• 39:31
Speaker 4: get there, and bro, you you you're starstruck by you're
• 39:34
Speaker 4: looking at Lawrence Taylor.
• 39:36
Speaker 2: Bro, you ain't sitting down on the bench.
• 39:37
Speaker 4: You're watching him play because you're like, oh, I got
• 39:40
Speaker 4: to see him, you know, I.
• 39:43
Speaker 2: Can't imagine these young guys.
• 39:46
Speaker 4: And then the foolishness that the one player for the
• 39:50
  Speaker 4: University of Miami.
• 39:52
Speaker 2: On the side. Don't leave him alone, to leave forty
• 39:56
Speaker 2: seven sety seven yet alone? That is to me, if
• 40:05
Speaker 2: I'm the head coach, he ain't on my sideline. Did
• 40:07
Speaker 2: you you gotta be? Ye gotta be? He gotta be.
• 40:11
  Speaker 4: Didn't have cheer, didn't cheer? No, you didn't cheer. Don't
• 40:15
Speaker 4: act the food you don't. I don't want you acting me.
• 40:19
Speaker 2: Let me ask you this. Did y'all hear the story
• 40:21
Speaker 2: about because you know, he came up with the.
• 40:24
  Speaker 6: Yeah he did.
• 40:25
Speaker 5: That was he was like, are we talking about Michael
• 40:28
  Speaker 5: Michael Irvan?
• 40:30
Speaker 2: He from what they say and again I'm just going
• 40:32
Speaker 2: off what they say. He said he came up as
• 40:34
Speaker 2: a commercial that was doing something some something, and he
• 40:36
Speaker 2: came up with the you right, okay, y'all. Story of
• 40:41
Speaker 2: why he said the you instead of saying say this okay.
• 40:48
Speaker 2: I think he didn't want to say hurricane because I
• 40:51
Speaker 2: think Miami had just had a hurricane like in the area,
• 40:55
Speaker 2: like during that time or something. And he also didn't
• 40:58
Speaker 2: want to say anything with Caine in it, so I'll
• 41:00
Speaker 2: leave it there. So he came with the mark of
• 41:06
Speaker 2: the Youth as the problem. You figure it out, and.
• 41:16
Speaker 4: I will make this case, and and at least that
• 41:19
Speaker 4: you can jump in after after I say this, I
• 41:23
Speaker 4: think the University of Miami probably has the strongest and
• 41:27
Speaker 4: the most decorated football players in the league over the time,
• 41:37
Speaker 4: from from like college to the league college league, and
• 41:41
Speaker 4: and and to be part of that, yes, and to
• 41:43
Speaker 4: be part of that and to be welcomed back to
• 41:48
Speaker 4: be somewhere on that sideline.
• 41:49
Speaker 2: I'm not saying all of them are there, but you can't.
• 41:54
Speaker 2: You can't leave us seven forty seven. He not be
• 42:00
Speaker 2: on my side. My god, I look on my side.
• 42:08
  Speaker 2: Well he ain't.
• 42:10
Speaker 5: Let's talk about this game. Let's let's get off that conversation.
• 42:14
Speaker 5: What do you think the keys are to Indiana and Miami?
• 42:17
  Speaker 2: Who?
• 42:17
  Speaker 7: What?
• 42:18
Speaker 6: What does each team have to do to be able
• 42:20
  Speaker 6: to win tonight?
• 42:21
Speaker 2: You think, all right, I'm gonna I'm gonna jump in
• 42:23
  Speaker 2: first holiday.
• 42:24
Speaker 4: The one thing the only way you beat Miami is
• 42:27
Speaker 4: you're gonna have to beat them up.
• 42:29
Speaker 2: You're gonna have to beat them up.
• 42:31
Speaker 4: They're too athletic, they're too fast, they're too confident, too
• 42:36
Speaker 4: for you just to be out there just grabbing them
• 42:38
Speaker 4: putting them down. At some point they're going to score.
• 42:41
Speaker 4: Some point, they're gonna make a big play. Some point,
• 42:44
Speaker 4: they're getting the first down that they need. They're not
• 42:47
Speaker 4: going to They're gonna show up like they're supposed to win. Okay,
• 42:52
Speaker 4: I would say neither one of these teams have like
• 42:56
Speaker 4: prolific and great offenses. I think each team has a
• 43:00
Speaker 4: solid quarterback. I don't think either team quarterback is great
• 43:03
  Speaker 4: great college I don't think he's a great If you
• 43:05
Speaker 4: look at his status, he's not a great college for
• 43:07
Speaker 4: he won the Heisman.
• 43:08
Speaker 2: This is a weak quarterback class. He's not. Neither one
• 43:10
Speaker 2: of these are great quarterback. So what I'm gonna say
• 43:13
Speaker 2: is that number one, offensively, neither team can afford a
• 43:17
Speaker 2: bunch of turnovers. You cannot afford turnovers. And I would
• 43:21
Speaker 2: also say, and people you know, take it for what
• 43:23
Speaker 2: it is, your punter is gonna be key in this game, because,
• 43:28
  Speaker 2: like I said, I don't think you're gonna have long,
• 43:30
Speaker 2: sustainable drives. It's gonna be a lot of three and outs,
• 43:34
Speaker 2: and your punter has to get off good punts and
• 43:36
Speaker 2: pitch you in good field position. So I think the
• 43:38
Speaker 2: punter for each team is going to be critical now
• 43:41
Speaker 2: individually Miami, because they're playing in Miami. You can't let
• 43:46
Speaker 2: the emotions of that. You have to control your emotions
• 43:50
Speaker 2: of the side, No cuche, but you gotta. Miami's gotta
• 43:56
Speaker 2: control their emotions because now all the pressure is on them.
• 43:59
Speaker 2: So they they really got the pressure, right, Yeah, And
• 44:03
Speaker 2: I will say, you know, for the other side, you
• 44:07
Speaker 2: can't let the because I don't think Indiana really has
• 44:10
Speaker 2: although they're number one, I don't think they have the
• 44:12
  Speaker 2: pressure in this.
• 44:13
  Speaker 6: Okay.
• 44:13
Speaker 2: You know in Indiana, for their side, you can't make
• 44:17
Speaker 2: the big mistakes and you got to come out there
• 44:19
Speaker 2: and play bully ball. You gotta hit them.
• 44:21
Speaker 6: Yeah, you feel like it's going to be a low
• 44:23
  Speaker 6: scoring game.
• 44:23
Speaker 2: It sounds like I would say seventeen thirteen, maybe twenty
• 44:27
Speaker 2: seventeen is gonna be tight. I could see over time.
• 44:30
Speaker 5: Okay, Well, I think there's two keys for each each team,
• 44:33
Speaker 5: and I really feel like with Miami they have to
• 44:35
Speaker 5: they have to generate a rushing at talk obviously, and
• 44:38
Speaker 5: also they have to put pressure on Mendoza. Yeah, so
• 44:41
Speaker 5: you know that that's their two specific jobs. I think
• 44:44
Speaker 5: with Indiana, you know, they they led the nation this
• 44:46
Speaker 5: year in turnover margin. So if they can keep doing
• 44:49
Speaker 5: what they're doing, you know, keep keep their turnover rates
• 44:53
Speaker 5: low and getting those and getting those turnovers you know
• 44:57
Speaker 5: from Miami, I think that's the key for them. But
• 45:00
Speaker 5: but you know, and here's the thing, guys, when this airs,
• 45:03
Speaker 5: this is gonna be long gone over, so we may
• 45:06
Speaker 5: all look like, you know, fools whenever this is this
• 45:08
Speaker 5: air is only on w c HS.
• 45:10
Speaker 6: But but I think it's gonna be a great game.
• 45:13
  Speaker 2: I can't wait.
• 45:14
  Speaker 4: I do think, I do think it's gonna be I
• 45:16
Speaker 4: really do think it's gonna be a good game. And
• 45:18
Speaker 4: I do, like Hollis said, I think it's gonna be
• 45:21
Speaker 4: something close. But I will say this, Hollis, if somebody
• 45:26
Speaker 4: gets gets a run, you could end up getting a
• 45:30
Speaker 4: blowout on one side too.
• 45:33
Speaker 2: I agree with that.
• 45:33
Speaker 4: You that you know, so either to the point of
• 45:37
Speaker 4: defense is playing as as well as they should, as
• 45:40
Speaker 4: well as they're supposed to. You got a close game,
• 45:43
Speaker 4: no ie one of them. If if you found a
• 45:46
Speaker 4: way to beat that defense, then you're in trouble. Now,
• 45:51
Speaker 4: who let's make predictions.
• 45:53
Speaker 5: Who Oh you want to get first, Carl?
• 45:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll go first.
• 45:59
Speaker 4: And and and I've said, I can't remember the team
• 46:02
Speaker 4: I said last week, So that that tells you I'm
• 46:05
Speaker 4: starting all over. Lord, I'm starting all over again, us
• 46:12
Speaker 4: mad can you check the show last week? So I'm
• 46:20
Speaker 4: gonna I'm gonna, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna take the
• 46:23
Speaker 4: long shot and I'm gonna take Indiana.
• 46:27
Speaker 2: I love seven for seven, I love the playmaker, and
• 46:31
Speaker 2: I think this is actually great for college football to
• 46:34
Speaker 2: have Miami back, because I agree because I think of
• 46:37
Speaker 2: all the schools in college football, Miami has its has
• 46:41
Speaker 2: a distinct culture. It's a culture around the Miami Hurricanes
• 46:45
Speaker 2: and everything that it represents from the early eighties all
• 46:48
Speaker 2: the way to now. And it's sort of and it's
• 46:50
  Speaker 2: and it's a continuity that's built within that. I'm gonna
• 46:52
Speaker 2: comment on that later so before we do so, But
• 46:56
Speaker 2: but I gotta go with the West Virginia guy Signetti.
• 46:58
  Speaker 2: I thought he's done a job. And I want to
• 47:00
Speaker 2: see somebody different winning in college So I want to
• 47:03
Speaker 2: see history. So I'm going to Indian.
• 47:05
Speaker 5: Yeah, I totally. I'm kind of team Hollist on this.
• 47:09
Speaker 5: I think Fernando, you know, Mendoz is going to have
• 47:11
Speaker 5: a great game. You know, if he can just continue
• 47:13
Speaker 5: his accuracy and you know, his decisive play, especially in
• 47:17
Speaker 5: the red zone. You know, and they've they've proven that
• 47:20
Speaker 5: they belong here. I mean, you know the way they've
• 47:22
Speaker 5: man handled the teams before getting to this this particular
• 47:25
  Speaker 5: game and undefeated.
• 47:27
  Speaker 6: You know, I'm I'm kind of leaning. I'm I'm team
• 47:31
  Speaker 6: Hoosiers tonight.
• 47:33
Speaker 2: Do we think at that? Do we think, oh, that's yeah? Wow? Yeah,
• 47:39
Speaker 2: I was just looking at some stats. Indiana has has
• 47:41
Speaker 2: a program, has five hundred and thirty wins to seven
• 47:44
Speaker 2: hundred and fifteen losses. Miami has six hundred and eighty
• 47:47
Speaker 2: six wins to three hundred ninety three.
• 47:49
Speaker 6: This is Indiana. This really is their first rodeo.
• 47:52
Speaker 2: That has five national titles Indiana zero. Miami has two
• 47:56
Speaker 2: Heisman winners Miami, Indiana one. This year was the historical perspective.
• 48:04
Speaker 4: When you look at history, that speak, that speaks loudly.
• 48:10
Speaker 4: I have to ask the question of Okay, so everybody
• 48:15
Speaker 4: understands the history of Miami, okay, like and if you don't,
• 48:19
Speaker 4: you're just too young.
• 48:20
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 48:22
Speaker 4: Miami has was, in one specific span of time, was
• 48:28
Speaker 4: the most dominant football team, was producing the best and
• 48:34
Speaker 4: the most NFL players, and there's there's been a change
• 48:39
Speaker 4: to that. And to your point, Hollis about Indiana, that's
• 48:43
  Speaker 4: a that's a that's we used to know that as
• 48:45
  Speaker 4: a basketball.
• 48:46
Speaker 2: School solely, you know, And now here they are deservingly
• 48:53
Speaker 2: in the championship game here.
• 48:57
Speaker 4: I I think, being new to this for Indiana, I
• 49:04
Speaker 4: think it's gonna be hard for them to win.
• 49:05
Speaker 2: You think, so I do? Are you changing your pick?
• 49:08
  Speaker 2: I'm just saying I just I just don't you think
• 49:14
  Speaker 2: they'll struggle. I think I think.
• 49:15
Speaker 4: Unless they come out and and and be able to play.
• 49:20
Speaker 6: But when was the last time Miami really?
• 49:25
Speaker 2: But are you making the argument that culturally they're sort
• 49:28
Speaker 2: of wrapped in it? Yes? Is that what you're saying.
• 49:31
Speaker 4: I'm saying that, you know, the University of Miami to
• 49:34
Speaker 4: them and to the fans, but they were in it
• 49:36
Speaker 4: last year, you know. And and for Indiana here we are,
• 49:42
Speaker 4: this is new and we can act like however we
• 49:44
  Speaker 4: want to act.
• 49:45
Speaker 2: But so you're saying there's some pressure on them because
• 49:48
Speaker 2: it's like this is the first you.
• 49:50
Speaker 4: Can fake it. You can fake it, you can do
• 49:52
Speaker 4: all that, but you're going to have to play.
• 49:55
Speaker 2: They're going to have to play.
• 49:58
Speaker 6: I think they're the real deal.
• 49:59
Speaker 2: I mean, I question that you can't get here with us.
• 50:01
Speaker 6: They're all they're all you know men.
• 50:06
Speaker 2: They they yeah, but I do.
• 50:14
Speaker 4: I just this is one of those kind of games
• 50:16
Speaker 4: to where you know until you all's point about age,
• 50:20
Speaker 4: you know, but age and being new to this champion,
• 50:24
Speaker 4: this this beach going after the championship.
• 50:27
  Speaker 6: Signetti's good.
• 50:28
Speaker 5: I mean, I'm telling you what he's He's an awesome coach.
• 50:31
Speaker 5: I mean, I think that's what's gotten this this you know,
• 50:33
Speaker 5: team together. They really didn't have a lot of five
• 50:35
Speaker 5: Star Wars recruits. It's what he did with what he
• 50:38
Speaker 5: had and with the transfer port.
• 50:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, what's crazy. He brought a lot of James Madison
• 50:42
  Speaker 2: guys over here.
• 50:42
Speaker 6: Yep, he sure did.
• 50:44
Speaker 4: And and that's interesting too, Hollis, because the reality of that,
• 50:48
Speaker 4: man is, shows players can play at at at at
• 50:52
Speaker 4: multiple levels. You just you just have to be on
• 50:54
Speaker 4: the field with those kind of other players and you
• 50:56
Speaker 4: just fit in. To me, it just shows that to me,
• 50:58
Speaker 4: I love it because it shows that like if we
• 51:03
Speaker 4: if they and again I'm not gonna comment on the
• 51:05
Speaker 4: n C double A, you know what I think about them,
• 51:08
Speaker 4: But if it was really done correctly. You know, we
• 51:11
Speaker 4: can have those kids who can start kids now would
• 51:14
Speaker 4: understand that you could start at a D two one
• 51:16
Speaker 4: double a whatever, and you can make it up like
• 51:19
Speaker 4: you don't have to go to none of these schools
• 51:21
  Speaker 4: starting out.
• 51:22
Speaker 2: You can really play your way up.
• 51:24
Speaker 5: You're both contradicting yourselves because you both are talking about
• 51:27
Speaker 5: the transfers and there's too many. But yet you're saying
• 51:30
Speaker 5: they can start at a lower level and work their
• 51:31
Speaker 5: way which is transferring multiple times, probably especially if you're
• 51:37
Speaker 5: starting like at State or at Fairmont if you want to.
• 51:41
Speaker 5: You know, probably a lot of these guys that are
• 51:43
Speaker 5: playing for Indiana may have started at that level and
• 51:45
Speaker 5: work their way up and that's why.
• 51:47
Speaker 2: They're fort I mean, you've seen a quarterback for Mississippi State.
• 51:51
Speaker 2: I mean, yes, excuse me for old miss he started
• 51:54
Speaker 2: at a D two fair State in Michigan, So I'm ford.
• 51:57
Speaker 2: I mean, if you got an opportunity to go now again,
• 52:00
Speaker 2: I would say that there probably needs to be some
• 52:03
Speaker 2: sort of limit or some sort of cash buy out.
• 52:07
Speaker 2: Like so if I'm at fair State and my quarterbacks
• 52:10
Speaker 2: my championship quarterback, and now I'm got to lose my
• 52:12
Speaker 2: quarterback to you. Yeah, whatever you're paying him, I get
• 52:15
Speaker 2: a yeah, I need some of that too to go
• 52:17
Speaker 2: back into the so so I think there has to
• 52:20
Speaker 2: be some of that, and there has to be some
• 52:22
Speaker 2: some some tampering clauses around us too. You can't be
• 52:26
Speaker 2: recruiting it when you you know, you lose a game
• 52:28
Speaker 2: and now you're getting recruited by the other coach.
• 52:30
Speaker 6: Well, good point, good point.
• 52:31
  Speaker 2: All right.
• 52:32
  Speaker 4: Well we've we've gone over a little bit, but we've
• 52:36
Speaker 4: been fighting all night, so that's all good. So it's
• 52:38
Speaker 4: all good. All right, ladies and gentlemen. I hope you
• 52:41
Speaker 4: enjoyed the show, and we'll be
• 52:42
Speaker 2: Back again next week.
