#196 - Why Did Taylor Skip the VMAs? The Travis & Taylor Engagement Buzz! · Brandon Fogal Evolution

• 0:00
Taylor Swift decided to skip out on the VMAs this year.
• 0:03
She didn't go down to Brazil with Travis Kelsey and the Kansas City Chiefs.
• 0:07
  Maybe that's why they lost.
• 0:08
That's the only thing I can think of. But why didn't she go to the VMAs?
• 0:12
  She has records to break.
• 0:14
She has records to break. I like Taylor Swift. It might seem weird me talking
• 0:18
about this, but I'm looking at the news.
• 0:20
I don't really want to talk about the Phillies fan, the dad that got kind of
• 0:25
embarrassed on TV because that woman, that Karen came out of left field and
• 0:30
just ripped the ball from him.
• 0:32
I don't like how everybody's piling on him. It doesn't seem right.
• 0:35
It doesn't seem the Christian thing to do to just pile on them.
• 0:39
But I digress because I don't want to go down that road.
• 0:43
I feel weird about that. But this, I mean, I obviously feel okay about.
• 0:47
  Let's go to SheKnows.com. This is SheKnows.com.
• 0:50
I've actually never been to this website, but I'm interested in Taylor Swift.
• 0:55
She is sort of my generation. And in my household, I got two daughters.
• 0:59
One is an avid Taylor Swift fan, and the other is Billie Eilish.
• 1:04
So there is this constant eternal struggle, this battle that who is the premier pop star?
• 1:10
But this is, let's take a look at this. Taylor Swift is skipping the VMAs despite
• 1:14
a nomination, and the speculation is brutal.
• 1:18
Brutal. Okay. Taylor Swift's absence from the 2025 MTV Music Awards has fans
• 1:24
doing what they do best, speculate.
• 1:27
The singer is up for the Artist of the Year, and a win would break her tie with
• 1:32
Beyonce as the most decorated artist in VMA history.
• 1:35
But for the first time since 2021, Swift won't make it in the room when the
• 1:40
Moon Person trophies are handed out.
• 1:42
That alone would spark a thousand headlines, but Swifties on Reddit are pointing
• 1:47
  to a more specific reason.
• 1:48
Last year's Taylor Cam, MTV trained a dedicated live stream camera on her seat
• 1:56
for nearly the entire show, even posting the feed to YouTube.
• 2:01
Fans called it invasive, with one noting the placement was creepily between her legs.
• 2:08
Swift spent much of the night backstage and for many viewers,
• 2:13
the whole thing felt less like a playful Easter egg hunt than a surveillance experiment.
• 2:18
It was overboard and the kind of spectacle she may not want repeated and understandably so.
• 2:24
This year, fans imagined how quickly things could spiral again if she turned
• 2:29
down a drink, if her dress clung to the wrong way or if she simply looked tired.
• 2:35
She's newly engaged, one person wrote. The rumor Mills would take off about
• 2:40
there being a swift Kelsey baby due early 2026.
• 2:45
In other words, skipping the show might be the only way to dodge the circus.
• 2:49
There is a lot going on there and I'm mainly concerned about it with the Travis Kelsey angle.
• 2:55
That is the angle and I know that's been for the last couple of years now,
• 2:59
but she, and I was asking my wife about this.
• 3:02
Is she going to take Kelsey's name when they get married or would that hurt her brand?
• 3:07
You know, she needs to be swift hyphen Kelsey.
• 3:10
Why did she not go? There's so much going, there's so much in the air.
• 3:15
There's so much things that could be just uncovered in, uh, there's so much, I mean.
• 3:20
She's coming to the age where I think it becomes a little dangerous to go out in your 30s, you know?
• 3:26
Like, how late is the show? How late are we talking?
• 3:31
And, you know, she's getting ready to settle down. In the future,
• 3:35
maybe be a mom, which would be awesome.
• 3:39
So is this maybe going to start a trend of the direction of her life?
• 3:43
  I'm thinking about Justin Bieber.
• 3:44
His whole life, he's changed. The direction of everything is different.
• 3:48
It's dialed down. It's cooled down.
• 3:50
Could we start seeing a little bit of that in Taylor Swift? In Taylor Swift.
• 3:55
She didn't go. She didn't go. But I hope she is at the Chiefs home opener coming up.
• 4:00
And we can reverse what we just witnessed in Brazil.
• 4:05
So there's a lot going on there. And I don't often go to SheKnows.com.
• 4:10
But, I mean, they got some good stuff, it looks like.
• 4:12
I'm curious and interested about the Taylor situation.
• 4:16
I know I play light on it, but I actually am. I'm interested.
• 4:20
I think she is a huge megaphone, as we all know, and she speaks for the people
• 4:25
  and she reaches the masses.
• 4:27
So I'm mainly concerned. I hope that Travis and Kelsey, Travis Kelsey and her,
• 4:34
you know, they they have a huge platform.
• 4:37
Maybe they could implement, I hate, it seems gross, but bring a little bit of
• 4:43
Christ and Jesus into their union.
• 4:47
And they could be huge for the kingdom if they use it in a good way and not
• 4:52
just focus on the here and now, but, you know, uplift people to point people
• 4:57
to Christ, hoping that way, you know, and maybe I don't know her. I don't know her heart.
• 5:01
I don't know Kelsey's heart. I don't know where they stand on a lot of things,
• 5:03
but I'm just thinking about, I do, I'm interested in her. Everybody is always
• 5:07
watching her and what she's doing.
• 5:09
So she has a huge opportunity and he does as well. All right,
• 5:13
we'll leave it at that. Follow me on X and Instagram.
• 5:15
Have a great day. All right, wait. Follow me on X and Instagram at Brandon Fogle.
