- 0:24But what me and Peter really trying to do here is, is bring
- 0:28the understanding in the questioning form.
- 0:30We want to get you guys to think about this because I know what
- 0:33it feels like for somebody to not get me to critical thing, to
- 0:37just sit down, shut up, be a good little boy and nod your
- 0:39head when I speak that that's been enough.
- 0:42We've had enough of that. It's really time for us to open
- 0:46the can of worms of have we wrestled with this, dealt with
- 0:50it and considered in the deep inner part of us.
- 0:53And that's exactly what we're doing right here.
- 0:56We're getting to a scriptural dominance, right?
- 1:00Like the scripture has the final say.
- 1:02It's unarguable. We just need to make sure that
- 1:05we're in agreement with what's written.
- 1:07Yeah, and I, I, I feel too a, a, a caveat in my spirit.
- 1:11I just want to put out there because for those of you who had
- 1:17a more you're a wretched Sinner type of background, or you have
- 1:23that running script in your head that condemns you all the time.
- 1:29Know that the fact that you are guilty over sin and it grieves
- 1:34you and you wonder about your salvation is probably pretty
- 1:38good evidence that you are saved and that you do care about the
- 1:42things of God. So receive that grace and that
- 1:46assurance of of your salvation because you wouldn't have those
- 1:50things to even care about if that wasn't the case for the
- 1:56other side. Who?
- 1:58I literally saw this on XA few weeks ago.
- 2:02I'm trying to remember what it was verbatim, but it was a a
- 2:06meme of a guy like kicking back in his chair with, you know, his
- 2:10hands folded behind his head kind of relaxing.
- 2:13And the guy said me not worrying about repenting or this or that,
- 2:20it basically there's an idea on, I guess it's on the free grace
- 2:26crowd, Rod. I think that's what it is, where
- 2:29it's kind of like, hey, I'm saved.
- 2:32I believe in God. I said the prayer and now I can
- 2:36kind of coast through life. That's a dangerous place to be.
- 2:40I'm not saying you aren't saved, but man, if you don't have
- 2:44fruit, you know, maybe that's not a healthy tree.
- 2:50If you're not abiding with him, I don't know.
- 2:54It's a dangerous place to be, let's just put it that way.
- 2:56I'm not going to say you're not saved.
- 2:58If it happened once when you were 15 and that's the only like
- 3:02credible story that you have, this is for you to deeply
- 3:07consider because being saved to be saved an incorrect like
- 3:13there's a lot of etymological it's continuing you're going to
- 3:16do in the future. Oh, absolutely.
- 3:18Right. Salvation is not a one time
- 3:19thing. It's it's keeping the plug in.
- 3:22And I think, I think what happens is like a little
- 3:27sapling. And I think we use this analogy
- 3:30in a previous mini on this topic, like a little sapling
- 3:33that you just got from Home Depot and you stuck in the
- 3:36ground and it get hit, gets hit the next day with a huge storm
- 3:40and snaps that that one couldn't handle the storm of life, right?
- 3:47That that one wasn't ready for it.
- 3:49But you take the 10 year old oak, same storm he does just
- 3:54fine. And I think the longer we are a
- 3:57believer, the more we press into Christ, the more we mature.
- 4:02He doesn't want us to walk around like little saplings.
- 4:05He wants us to be like oaks where we are, you know, 10 feet
- 4:09tall and bulletproof. We're we're not going to lay
- 4:12down our faith for anyone because as Peter said, whom else
- 4:17should we go? You have the words of eternal
- 4:20life. You know that.
- 4:23That was the decision that I made in my teens when I heard
- 4:26Ray Comfort give that analogy about the the parachutes on an
- 4:31airplane. You don't put it on to make your
- 4:33flight better. You put it on in case you're
- 4:35about to jump. Well, guess what, 10 out of 10
- 4:38people die. We're going to have to jump into
- 4:41eternity. The only thing that's going to
- 4:44save us is Christ. Let's look at one last famous
- 4:49eternal security proof text, which is what about that verse
- 4:56where it says we are sealed by the Holy Spirit?
- 5:02That's a big one. What's interesting about that, a
- 5:06lot of people take that to mean, and I did too, that when it says
- 5:10sealed, does that mean sealed as in that seal can't be broken?
- 5:17Does that mean that seal is indestructible?
- 5:20If we're sealed by the Holy Spirit, nothing can break it.
- 5:24But what is actually the etymology of sealed rod?
- 5:30Do you remember we were talking about that earlier, the
- 5:34etymology of sealed? It has to do with a mark,
- 5:39doesn't it? Yeah.
- 5:40I mean, it's depicted at times as using like a signet ring and
- 5:45hot wax to seal a very specific seal from a king that would be
- 5:51sent out to a Courier and sent to a neighboring Kingdom, for
- 5:55example, right? The seal that God gives is
- 5:58always within the boundaries of what is written in the word.
- 6:01It always looks the way that He has depicted it to us.
- 6:04Being sealed by Him is a very specific thing, and it's very
- 6:10important that we understand that as well.
- 6:11It's a great speaking piece. Yeah.
- 6:14And in that verse it says that we have the Holy Spirit.
- 6:20That's our seal, the guarantee of our eternal life.
- 6:25Again, that's a guarantee and a mark of a believer.
- 6:31Exactly. But I'm leaving open the
- 6:33possibility in the 20 billion plus people that have lived in
- 6:38the last whatever 6000 years of human history that we know of
- 6:41recorded history, not to get into old or young Earth or pre
- 6:45Adamic or any of that other interesting stuff, Rod.
- 6:48Or toroidal earth. OK, but recorded history, you
- 6:54know, something like 20 billion people, if one person was a
- 7:00believer and walked away from it, then once they've always
- 7:04saved is false. And that's the danger.
- 7:09You know, we want to be true to God's word.
- 7:11And I think what we're trying to get at here is eternal security
- 7:14is biblical, but it's for the believer.
- 7:17If you stay a believer. And let's look, I'm not saying
- 7:21we get credit as in like we did it all and God's not helping us.
- 7:25He's helping us. He's helping us.
- 7:28If we start to wander away, he's going to chase us.
- 7:32But but don't ignore that chasing for too long because he
- 7:36might give up and let us run off on our own and say, well, you
- 7:40kind of made-up your mind. You know, I, I feel like, Rod,
- 7:44we have this life to decide, right?
- 7:48I know there's some debate about that in some circles,
- 7:51Universalists and purgatory and all these other things.
- 7:55I think we have this one life to decide.
- 7:58And whose team are we going to play for?
- 8:02Are we going to be loyal? Let's look at abiding.
- 8:08Rod. Do you have that pulled up in
- 8:10John 15? This is John 15-6.
- 8:14If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch and is
- 8:22withered, and the men gather them and they cast them into the
- 8:27fire and they are burned. I have the concordance opened
- 8:33and John 15-6. When I click on abide, which is
- 8:39G3306, men know is the transliteration or men O is the
- 8:46pronunciation. The definition is a primary verb
- 8:49to stay in a given place, a relation or an expectancy, to
- 8:59continue, to dwell, to endure, to be present, to remain, stand
- 9:06or tarry. All of those are talking about
- 9:12the fact that there's things that can happen to cause you not
- 9:15to tarry or not to dwell or not to stay.
- 9:20So just even the construction here in the Greek is showing us
- 9:24that it's just like where the Bible says continue to do good,
- 9:28right? And and if you don't faint, if
- 9:31you can make it, you're going to bear some fruit, right?
- 9:34I mean, these are common themes even with another, you know,
- 9:38scriptural presentations throughout the word and abide
- 9:40clearly says a man abide not in me.
- 9:48You're withered and you're going to the fire.
- 9:51But if you abide, if you tarry, if you stay consistency, A
- 9:56righteous man falleth 7 times, but he get back up 7 in
- 9:59completion. Not like a cat has 9 lives, but
- 10:03it means complete. He's known every sin you did
- 10:07commit 10 years ago that you forgot about.
- 10:10And because you haven't done it recently, you think all of a
- 10:12sudden you're justified to continue in your high Holy
- 10:15roller. No, He knows it all.
- 10:17It's always been about him. And so to abide in him, I
- 10:21believe, is US choosing to tarry us, saying, Lord, I'm in this,
- 10:27you loved me first. You see this in me and I'm here
- 10:31to press it out with you. And then he's the strength, He's
- 10:35the rescue, He's the sanctification, he's the one who
- 10:39makes all of your wrongs right. But there's a deep inner man
- 10:43part of each one of us and woman for the women listeners.
- 10:46But according to the Hebrew, man covers all of us.
- 10:49So I digress. There's a deep inner part of us
- 10:55that unfortunately can come into rebellion.
- 10:59Or fortunately, we would agree with the life giving words and
- 11:05we would continue to cling and to tarry with him who is truth.
- 11:11Yeah, it makes me think of Abraham and David and Solomon.
- 11:19Abraham had some egregious sins. He had some big falls.
- 11:26But the New Testament affirms his faith was credited as
- 11:30righteousness. He was faithful when it counted
- 11:35and he didn't renounce God. He finished the race.
- 11:41Same with David. Huge, huge Sinner.
- 11:44I mean, you can't get much worse than stealing your neighbor's
- 11:48wife. And sending him to be killed.
- 11:51Sending him to be killed, murder and adultery, but being called a
- 11:56man after God's heart. He remained faithful to God
- 12:01despite those big, big bumps in the road.
- 12:05Now, Solomon, on the other hand, the jury's a little bit out on
- 12:08that one, that one rod. I feel like there's plenty of
- 12:13Scripture that showed his earlier faith in life, his honor
- 12:19of God, but he let quite a bit of compromise come in.
- 12:27And maybe he did not end with the faith in the one true God.
- 12:32It kind of seems like he didn't. It's how we end salvation is
- 12:40we're saved, we're being saved and we will be saved.
- 12:46And I think as long as we have free will in this life, as long
- 12:50as our body, soul and spirit are not yet fully redeemed, as long
- 12:56as we have the spirit of adoption, Roman says.
- 13:00But not the adoption yet, which is the redemption of our body
- 13:06and soul and spirit. I think until that point, I
- 13:11think we still have to wrestle like Paul did with this wretched
- 13:16body of death, this dual nature. We still have to wrestle with
- 13:20it. We have to subdue it as best we
- 13:24can. If we fail in subduing it, that
- 13:27doesn't make us kicked out of the Kingdom.
- 13:32But if we stop caring, if we stop caring whether we subdue
- 13:37that flesh, if we stop caring what what God thinks about what
- 13:41we do, well, we might just need to test ourselves to see if our
- 13:46in the faith and find out that we don't have any faith left
- 13:49because we don't care. We're doing our own thing.
- 13:54I'm thinking of the band Rush. If you choose not to decide, you
- 13:59still have made a choice. So whether you draw a line in
- 14:06the sand because life didn't work out the way you wanted.
- 14:10And you say, you know what, God, I grew up going to church.
- 14:15I'm done with it. Life isn't turning out how I
- 14:18want. I'm done with you.
- 14:20I believed in you for a while and now I'm done.
- 14:24Maybe you did believe you had the promises of eternal
- 14:30security, but you turned from it.
- 14:33Those promises are not for you unless you come back.
- 14:37You know the prodigal son Rod we referenced in a previous
- 14:40episode? He had to come back.
- 14:45He couldn't stay out there with the pigs and enjoy life with the
- 14:49Father as a son. The Father was ready any moment,
- 14:55at a moment's notice. He was looking for him.
- 14:58He saw him far off approaching the house, but he had to come
- 15:04back. So if we abide, we keep the plug
- 15:10in, and that eternal life is ours, conditional upon our
- 15:15faith. And God has given us all a
- 15:19measure of faith as a general gift and you keep that plug in
- 15:25and that's the means of of appropriating God's grace.
- 15:30I'll wrap up with this and, and give it to Rod for the last
- 15:33words. It's my belief that the Bible
- 15:36says eternal security is real, but it is conditional.
- 15:41It's conditional upon our faith. That's why once saved, always
- 15:45saved is not the same as eternal security.
- 15:49Once saved, always saved. Assumes unconditional salvation.
- 15:53Once a professional faith is made, you're in.
- 15:57Can't lose it, even if you want to reject it.
- 16:00Even if you do reject it, you're still in.
- 16:03Doesn't make sense. Eternal security, on the other
- 16:06hand, is conditional. Not on God, because he is
- 16:10absolutely faithful to save. That part of eternal security is
- 16:15eternally secure, but the condition is on our maintaining
- 16:20faith, which is of course being connected and abiding with God
- 16:25as he assists us with that. But we still have a part to
- 16:29play. It's funny, as time goes on and
- 16:33the more I learn, it's like the more I don't know.
- 16:43But what I do know becomes highlighted and powerful and all
- 16:47the other noise and sounds and ideas and pressures of the world
- 16:51start to fade away. And as I sit here with Pete, you
- 16:57know, many mini series in to bring you guys these topics to
- 17:02challenge the narrative of the denominations and all of the
- 17:08boxed ideas and limitations that many who went before us have put
- 17:14a burden on you guys not to think about this and to enter
- 17:17into a sacred place. I think about the goodness of
- 17:22God and I think to myself through his grace and the
- 17:30recognition of my failure and the fear at times and comfort at
- 17:35times, I know he's good. I know He's good.
- 17:41He's not safe, but he certainly is good.
- 17:46And Pete, it's been an honor. These topics, not only are they
- 17:50timely for me and my growth and development, inching along, as I
- 17:56like to say in my private quarters.
- 17:58So making myself a little vulnerable there on air, inching
- 18:01along in my faith. At times, it's been very
- 18:04beneficial. It's opened my eyes and there's
- 18:08certain things that I had to rethink.
- 18:10At the end of it all, nothing changes for me.
- 18:13I know exactly who I am in Him. I know who I am as a man.
- 18:20That's not always pretty, but I'll tell you what, if you look
- 18:23from the right angle and you start to see a little bit of Him
- 18:25in there, and that piece of Him starts to grow in me as a
- 18:29believer. I want the same for everybody
- 18:33out there. If you have an ear to hear, take
- 18:37this all before the Lord, inquire of him in private. close
- 18:42your door after this recording, enter into the secret chamber
- 18:49and you will be known. Pete, it's been an honor.
- 18:51Seriously. The we have other minis that
- 18:54we're going to be developing and other concepts and ideas.
- 18:58This is not the end of the minis.
- 18:59It's just a a soft landing on this topic, I guess you could
- 19:03say for the foreseeable future. I'll leave with this last verse
- 19:09that came to me as you were speaking.
- 19:11Moses on the mountain, when the presence of God passed by, he
- 19:17was told to stand on a rock, and while God's glory passed by, he
- 19:23would place Moses in a cleft of the rock and cover him with his
- 19:27hand until he had passed by, a divine act of protection.
- 19:35So for those of you who know Jesus, you love him.
- 19:39You're following him imperfectly, as we all do, but
- 19:43pressing on. Be assured of your salvation.
- 19:48Be assured because you know him. God bless you guys.
- 19:52Thanks for listening and until the next minute we'll see you.
- 19:56Bye bye. I came from the sun, but one of
- 20:17you straight from the heavens. You really owe me.
- 20:23All in my life I was beating up. All in my life I didn't handle.
- 20:28All in my life I was stuck in on track.
- 20:30All in my life I didn't handle rap.
- 20:32I didn't know why my life was away.
- 20:34I didn't know why my life was away.
- 20:37I didn't know why I couldn't get up.
- 20:39I was so stuck. And the monkey was stuck till I
- 20:42found out. And I broke everything till I
- 20:44found out. And they took everything until I
- 20:46was hurting my heart. It was strained.
- 20:48Yeah, I was broken. I had all this pain.
- 20:50Held on the hope. It got harder than this hope.
- 20:53Then I went to the side of this mode.
- 20:55I had no truth but to look to my guy.
- 20:57He gave me stomach up in my eye. He gave me earrings.
- 21:00And he told me a blessed. He told me he just believe in
- 21:03this time. I told him I can't change all of
- 21:05my ways. He said I got you to look at
- 21:08this. I looked at him and he showed me
- 21:10his ways. They just told me how I am this
- 21:12time. They just told me I'm not in
- 21:14this world. He told me I come from the
- 21:16heavens above. I'm a new creature.
- 21:18I come from the sun, from the one and only, straight from the
- 21:21heavens. You really owe me.
- 21:23I came from the sun. I was really with him.
- 21:25And heavenly places I'm sealing. Y'all can't even go that way.
- 21:30Y'all don't even know that way. Y'all want to play like Patty
- 21:34Kay but this ain't no game. But it's right you wank this so
- 21:38fake when you walk under me and I know you're a snake.
- 21:42You think you can beat me but you got no power you want in a
- 21:45way I take out that chopper I'll put on your top and I'll prank
- 21:49on your face. I see you laughing.
- 21:52You think that you got me but you got no way.
- 21:56The evil you say for my life is OK because it's made for my
- 21:59good. My God that created he created
- 22:02you so you really is cooked. I said all these things 'cause I
- 22:06know what is true and you know you is booked.
- 22:09But like I did case we're done with these games.
- 22:11You can never win. I know the things that's going
- 22:13to happen to you when you die. You didn't say living your life
- 22:18'cause you know you can never go and get saved.
- 22:21You know his great thing, His mercy was too from you.
- 22:24When you're my son at the plot, thought you could take on my
- 22:27God's spot. Now you can die hot.
- 22:30You was really tweaking. I come from the sun, from the
- 22:32one and only, straight from the heavens.
- 22:34You really owe me. I came from the sun.
- 22:36I was really with them. The heavenly places on the
- 22:39ceiling. Y'all can't even go that way.
- 22:42Y'all don't even know that way. Y'all want to play like Patty
- 22:46Cay, but this ain't no game. But it's that way.
