Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: 406.7, Atlanta FM, with Cubby and Christine in the morning.
- 0:02Speaker 1: I made it here safely. All my wheels didn't fall
- 0:04Speaker 1: off the car. Whoa. Oh, man. We were talking about yesterday,
- 0:08Speaker 1: what we were doing yesterday. We were, you know, all
- 0:10Speaker 1: of us were running around, running errands.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:12Speaker 1: So I got my tires rotated. And when it was
- 0:15Speaker 1: all said and done, they said everything was fine. But
- 0:18Speaker 1: you know what? What we always tell our customers, after
- 0:20Speaker 1: you drive 50 or 75 miles, just come back. You
- 0:24Speaker 1: don't have to make an appointment. Just pull up to
- 0:26Speaker 1: the bay and say, I want to get my torque checked.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Your torque.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Like, check the bolt torque to make sure the lug
- 0:32Speaker 1: nuts are still tight and they didn't loosen up. I'm like,
- 0:36Speaker 1: wait a minute.
- 0:37Speaker 2: I've never heard that before. You mean there's a risk?
- 0:39Speaker 1: Am I like, could all the tires just fall off
- 0:42Speaker 1: at the same time on the turnpike? I've never heard
- 0:46Speaker 1: that before.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I've never heard of that either.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I thought when they were finished with the job.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Yeah, when we're done, we're done.
- 0:49Speaker 1: We're done. They feel good about things.
- 0:51Speaker 2: They take that thing and they go, it's like they
- 0:53Speaker 2: crank it. You know, so that if you had to
- 0:55Speaker 2: change a tire, you can't do it.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Right. So I'm living on the edge. Wow. And we
- 1:00Speaker 1: have a road trip coming up this weekend.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Go to the bay and let them check it out.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I'm going to go to the bay and check it
- 1:06Speaker 1: out because it got me nervous.
- 1:07Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I was all happy. Like, oh, I want to.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Oh, that's done.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I want to get it done. Right.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Get that off your list.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Check off the box. And now I'm thinking I got
- 1:15Speaker 1: to go back in the next couple of days.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Check my lug nut.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Make sure my lug nuts are. Nice and tight.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Yeah, make sure the lug nuts are tight on the torque.
- 1:23Speaker 2: I don't even know what that is.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Check the bolt torque it said. Bolt torque. Bolt torque.
- 1:28Speaker 1: If you are a mechanic, can you let me know
- 1:29Speaker 1: if I really have to do this? Text us at 44363.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Can you just, like, check yourself?
- 1:35Speaker 2: Like, just go around and go, that seems tight. I
- 1:37Speaker 2: don't know.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Me? Yeah.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Seems tight to me.
- 1:43Speaker 1: But I have the family in the car. We have
- 1:45Speaker 1: a trip to Virginia.
- 1:46Speaker 2: All right, go to the bay. Pull up to the bay.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I got to take it seriously, Christine. Yes, you do.
- 1:51Speaker 1: You do. Speaking of taking it seriously. Yeah. You are
- 1:54Speaker 1: going to be adulting tonight.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness, Cubby.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Can you share what you're doing today?
- 1:58Speaker 2: I've never done anything like this. I don't know what
- 2:00Speaker 2: it entails. But I am going to... It's not City Hall.
- 2:04Speaker 2: It's like the Parks Department in Nutley, New Jersey. Because
- 2:08Speaker 2: there's this giant warehouse that's going to be put in
- 2:12Speaker 2: a residential area. Like, where there's a ton of houses
- 2:16Speaker 2: and kids and going to school and, you know, just
- 2:20Speaker 2: a beautiful, busy, peaceful area like you live there because
- 2:23Speaker 2: it's all houses. Okay. Okay. some property has been sold
- 2:26Speaker 2: and they're going to put a warehouse in and it's
- 2:28Speaker 2: going to be giant and there's going to be trucks
- 2:30Speaker 2: going in and out all hours.
- 2:32Speaker 1: And people are already talking about it, right?
- 2:34Speaker 2: Noise pollution, how it's going to affect traffic. They're talking
- 2:38Speaker 2: about air pollution. These are the concerns in the neighborhood.
- 2:42Speaker 2: It's not that kind of neighborhood. It's not the place
- 2:43Speaker 2: for it. It's like, go by the highway and.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Do that stuff. So are you part of a group
- 2:47Speaker 1: that's going to show up at the meeting today and
- 2:50Speaker 1: have a sign and go.
- 2:51Speaker 2: No, no. No, I was thinking, hey, hey, ho, ho.
- 2:55Speaker 2: This warehouse has got to go. Hey, hey. Hey. Ho, ho.
- 2:59Speaker 2: This warehouse has got to go. Hey, hey.
- 3:01Speaker 1: You've already thought it out.
- 3:02Speaker 2: What do you think? I have no idea. I've never
- 3:05Speaker 2: done this kind of thing before. I don't know if
- 3:07Speaker 2: you just sit there and listen to, like, the board's agenda.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I think they have a microphone where you can, like,
- 3:14Speaker 1: stand up and say something, right? Oh, boy. I don't know.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I get really nervous.
- 3:17Speaker 1: You don't have to.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I get nervous in these situations, but I do have
- 3:19Speaker 2: to because we all have to.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Have you talked to other neighbors and you guys are
- 3:23Speaker 1: going to walk over together?
- 3:23Speaker 2: They're so unhappy. Right. And they're so concerned. Like I said,
- 3:28Speaker 2: this is a neighborhood with little kids walking to school.
- 3:31Speaker 2: This is not the place for it. Wow.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Well, good luck.
- 3:33Speaker 2: It's just not. Thank you.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Are they thinking they're going to come up with a
- 3:36Speaker 1: decision this year?
- 3:37Speaker 2: Supposedly, it's in the final phase. Like, tonight's our last
- 3:41Speaker 2: night to fight it, but we didn't know about it.
- 3:43Speaker 2: If we had known, we probably would have started fighting
- 3:45Speaker 2: a year ago.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Oh, I see. Yeah.
- 3:47Speaker 2: So I honestly, I don't know. I don't know what's
- 3:50Speaker 2: about to happen again. I've never done anything like this.
- 3:53Speaker 1: You know, if you find out it's a warehouse, though,
- 3:56Speaker 1: you kind of want.
- 3:56Speaker 3: No.
- 3:57Speaker 1: What if it's a nice Amazon? I mean, your packages
- 4:00Speaker 1: will get even quicker.
- 4:01Speaker 2: I understand that. But no, no, we live there because
- 4:04Speaker 2: we don't want to, you know, have a big truck
- 4:08Speaker 2: coming in and out of our driveways and knocking down
- 4:10Speaker 2: the trees and. Please, it's just one little residential area.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Just leave it alone.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Well, I applaud you that you're getting involved. Some people
- 4:16Speaker 1: don't get involved and they just sit back and hope
- 4:18Speaker 1: it works out in their favor, but you're going to
- 4:20Speaker 1: try to... make an impact here. So good luck.
- 4:23Speaker 2: We'll see how it goes, right? I'm going to try.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Go practice that chant, okay? Okay, got it. We got
- 4:28Speaker 1: two pretty cool things coming up next.
- 4:30Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Okay. I need to tell you two things. Cubby and Christine's.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Two pretty cool things.
- 4:42Speaker 1: If it's free, it's for me.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Oh, yes.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I got something really cool here. Hudson Yards has transformed
- 4:48Speaker 1: into a free week-long event U.S. Open fan area. It
- 4:53Speaker 1: happened over the weekend. It runs until September 7th. Days
- 4:57Speaker 1: of interactive gaming, DJs, merchandise. And check this out, Christine.
- 5:02Speaker 1: The first ever traveling free ice cream truck.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Oh, very nice.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Free ice cream.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Hit up Hudson Yards between now and this weekend, and
- 5:12Speaker 1: you are just going to be immersed. and energy, excitement,
- 5:16Speaker 1: and the spirit of the U.S. Open at Hudson Yards.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Oh, I love that.
- 5:19Speaker 1: What is your cool thing?
- 5:20Speaker 2: My cool thing's in New York City, too, Covey.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Yay, New York!
- 5:23Speaker 2: Let's go downtown. The Strand Bookstore, incredibly famous. It is
- 5:28Speaker 2: about to celebrate its 99th year. The Strand is turning
- 5:32Speaker 2: 99 years old on September 19th, and they have a
- 5:36Speaker 2: huge celebration in store for us with lots of activities
- 5:40Speaker 2: and story time and other special events happening. That they
- 5:43Speaker 2: will let us know about later, but we do know
- 5:47Speaker 2: on that day, 20% off everything in the store. Everything.
- 5:52Speaker 2: And The Strand was founded in 1927. It is the
- 5:56Speaker 2: sole survivor of Manhattan's old book row, which is a
- 5:59Speaker 2: stretch of 4th Avenue that was once packed with dozens
- 6:02Speaker 2: of bookstores. Now this is the only one, Broadway and
- 6:06Speaker 2: 12th Street near Union Square, but... If you haven't been
- 6:09Speaker 2: there and experienced it, it's such a wonderful store.
- 6:12Speaker 1: If this is the 99th celebration, which is pretty big,
- 6:15Speaker 1: imagine next year.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Next year, it's going to be even bigger. But yeah,
- 6:19Speaker 2: they call themselves 18 Miles of Books.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Okay.
- 6:22Speaker 2: So go there and have some fun. And if you
- 6:24Speaker 2: need to get souvenirs or anything from New York City,
- 6:26Speaker 2: that's another great place to go for it.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Love it, Christine. Thank you. How about a one-hit wonder
- 6:31Speaker 1: from 2001? We'll do that next on Light FM.
- 6:35Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Blue Cantrell. Some people call her a one-hit wonder. I
- 6:43Speaker 1: kind of do. Because that was her big hit. But
- 6:46Speaker 1: she had another one after this song called Breathe. With
- 6:49Speaker 1: Sean Paul on it. It was kind of big.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 6:52Speaker 1: But this was the biggest one. Yes, it was. Definitely.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Variety from the 80s through today. Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Light FM is on. remind me, Christine, because we park
- 7:00Speaker 1: in the same garage. I have the honey you asked for.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Thank you. Because, you know, we're Costco members. You're not.
- 7:06Speaker 1: You're about to join. Wait, didn't Eric join?
- 7:08Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:09Speaker 1: But he goes to.
- 7:10Speaker 2: He gets overwhelmed, so he hasn't... Right. We haven't gone
- 7:13Speaker 2: there yet.
- 7:14Speaker 1: You told me to pick up some honey. Yes, thank you.
- 7:15Speaker 1: And I thought maybe I was going to text you
- 7:18Speaker 1: and go, which honey... Mm-hmm. But right when I saw it,
- 7:20Speaker 1: I went, oh, wait, I don't even need to text you.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Three little bears.
- 7:23Speaker 1: The three little bears. That's a good way to remember it.
- 7:24Speaker 2: It's all attached. Thank you.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Yes.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Thanks for doing that.
- 7:27Speaker 1: But I almost pulled an Eric, you know, where I
- 7:28Speaker 1: had to check in, make sure I'm buying the right thing.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Like I do with my wife sometimes.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 7:33Speaker 1: So you're my radio wife. Or all the time.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Or all the time. Thanks for doing that. Yes, Eric,
- 7:38Speaker 2: he was at Stop and Shop. That's where we go. Tuesday,
- 7:42Speaker 2: I think it was. And yesterday, he's telling- That was yesterday. Wait,
- 7:45Speaker 2: was yesterday Tuesday? Yeah. What year is it, by the way?
- 7:49Speaker 1: I'm with you. By the way, I'm with you. We
- 7:51Speaker 1: are following.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Where are we exactly?
- 7:53Speaker 1: I got back from vacation a week ago. I don't
- 7:55Speaker 1: even know what month it is. Oh, my gosh.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Okay, so say it was Monday. He went Monday evening.
- 8:00Speaker 2: And then yesterday, he shares this story with me about,
- 8:03Speaker 2: you know, adventures in Stop and Shop. And he made
- 8:06Speaker 2: a friend, apparently, at the deli counter. So Eric goes
- 8:09Speaker 2: up to the deli counter. Nobody's there. Just one guy
- 8:12Speaker 2: is working. So he doesn't take a number. And the
- 8:14Speaker 2: guy's not waiting on him. And then this older gentleman...
- 8:18Speaker 2: He stands next to Eric and he's like, hey, you
- 8:20Speaker 2: got it. Like Eric does it with his New York accent.
- 8:22Speaker 2: He's like, you got to take a number. The guy's
- 8:24Speaker 2: not going to, you know. And he's like, here, just
- 8:25Speaker 2: take my number. Otherwise, it's going to get all confused.
- 8:28Speaker 2: And Eric's like, oh, OK, thank you. So he takes
- 8:30Speaker 2: the number. Now the guy's waiting on him.
- 8:31Speaker 1: The guy's like showing Eric the ropes kind of.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Yeah, like teaching him the ways, the ways of you
- 8:36Speaker 2: married men. And the guy starts slicing up the meat,
- 8:40Speaker 2: whatever it is, it's ham and we're getting cheese. And
- 8:42Speaker 2: Eric's like very, very thin. The guy holds it up
- 8:46Speaker 2: and is like, is this thin enough? And Eric's like, I,
- 8:48Speaker 2: you know, I don't know. It's not for me. The guy,
- 8:52Speaker 2: guy next to Eric goes, oh, you got one of those.
- 8:56Speaker 2: You got one of those at home.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Oh boy. So he didn't know what to do.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Well, no.
- 9:01Speaker 1: It was unsure if you would be approved of it.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Yes. That, and now they're starting to commiserate. And the
- 9:08Speaker 2: guy's like, listen, I've been married 50 years. He's like,
- 9:12Speaker 2: you got one of those at home? And Eric's like,
- 9:14Speaker 2: you think that's bad? You think like cold cuts are bad?
- 9:17Speaker 2: She has samples, paint samples all over the walls for
- 9:21Speaker 2: months because she can't make a decision. And he's like, oh, okay.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Now listen, you got to let her decide. You don't decide.
- 9:28Speaker 2: You don't decide the paint color. You let her decide.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Happy wife, happy life comes up all the time, doesn't it?
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yes. So apparently then they had a big discussion about
- 9:36Speaker 2: when they go to stop and shop and then when
- 9:38Speaker 2: they go to shop.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Right.
- 9:39Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh, you're feeling better now. You're making friends.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Eric's going to be him later today in the deli.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Now they're both. They'll go to the YMCA together or something.
- 9:46Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 9:47Speaker 1: That's good bonding right there.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I'm so glad he found a friend and had some guidance,
- 9:53Speaker 2: not just in stop and shop, but in life. This
- 9:55Speaker 2: is a guy who's telling him I'm married 50 years.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Just do what she asks.
- 9:59Speaker 1: You to do. It's so true, by the way. That's
- 10:00Speaker 1: the first lesson I learned. I've been married 11 years.
- 10:02Speaker 1: I think two hours after I was married.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Yeah, you got it. I got it.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Whatever. It's all about her. All right, we're coming right back.
- 10:09Speaker 1: More variety from the 80s dude today.
- 10:11Speaker 3: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 10:15Speaker 1: It is hump day, September 2nd. Welcome to the late 20s,
- 10:19Speaker 1: Christine Nagy.
- 10:21Speaker 3: What?
- 10:21Speaker 1: It's official. We've entered the late 2020s. Encyclopedia Britannica said
- 10:27Speaker 1: so in a social media post yesterday. The first day
- 10:30Speaker 1: of September, yesterday, they wrote.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Do you remember?
- 10:33Speaker 1: Do you remember? That's what they wrote. Do you remember? No,
- 10:35Speaker 1: they wrote, today officially marks the beginning... Of the late 2020s. Wow.
- 10:39Speaker 1: That was on September 1st. So here's how it breaks down.
- 10:43Speaker 1: The early 2020s were considered January 1st, 2020 to April 30th, 2023.
- 10:47Speaker 1: The mid-20s were considered May 1st, 2023 to August 31st, 2026.
- 10:49Speaker 1: The late 20s, September 1st, 2026 to December 31st, 2029.
- 11:03Speaker 2: I can't believe how time is going by.
- 11:05Speaker 1: The roaring late 20s.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Yeah, the roaring late 20s.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Can you believe it? No.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Man. I mean, I'm just coming to terms with the
- 11:12Speaker 2: burr months, right, that were already there. Are you seeing
- 11:15Speaker 2: this all over social?
- 11:16Speaker 1: Burr as in like cold burr?
- 11:17Speaker 2: Do you remember? September, October, November, December. It's the burr months.
- 11:22Speaker 1: The burr months. I like that.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Yes. So a lot of social about like what we
- 11:26Speaker 2: love about the Burr months and people are getting excited.
- 11:29Speaker 2: You know, pumpkin spice.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Hello. I was going to say, can I guess a
- 11:31Speaker 1: couple of them?
- 11:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Pumpkin spice we mentioned. How about apple picking?
- 11:36Speaker 2: Yes. Oh, Eric and I were talking about it yesterday. Yes.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Apple picking. Fallen crisp leaves and chili crisp air.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to that.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Are we going to get crispy leaves this year? We've
- 11:47Speaker 2: had so much rain.
- 11:48Speaker 1: That's a good point.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Halloween parties. Yes, for sure. My friend, Ann Sayre.
- 11:53Speaker 1: She puts on a big one, right?
- 11:54Speaker 2: Oh, an incredible Halloween party.
- 11:55Speaker 1: The one that you stay at too late and she
- 11:57Speaker 1: usually changes into her robe to give you the hint
- 12:00Speaker 1: to leave.
- 12:00Speaker 2: When she comes out in her pajamas and the costume's off,
- 12:02Speaker 2: it's time for us to go home, yes. One of
- 12:06Speaker 2: the things is changing into fuzzy pajama pants after work
- 12:09Speaker 2: rather than short shorts. Oh, yeah. You know, like getting
- 12:12Speaker 2: all cozy. Autumn evenings, watching full-time movies, shows. Beer, Oktoberfest,
- 12:18Speaker 2: some outdoor festivals.
- 12:19Speaker 1: How about football? Is football on there?
- 12:20Speaker 2: Football is like number one. College football and football. Renaissance Festival.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Oh, that's kicking off, isn't it? Yeah.
- 12:27Speaker 2: And some folks are saying Thanksgiving, start of NBA, NHL season.
- 12:31Speaker 2: What are you looking forward to this fall? We'd love
- 12:34Speaker 2: to hear from you.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Yeah, give us a text at 44363. I am ready
- 12:38Speaker 1: for the sweatshirt weather, I'll tell you that. I don't
- 12:40Speaker 1: like the big jacket weather. I don't like 20 degrees.
- 12:44Speaker 1: You give me 45 at night and 65 indoors. During
- 12:51Speaker 1: the day, I'll take it. Yeah. I'm looking forward to that.
- 12:54Speaker 2: With some sun. Yeah. And like we said, the crispy
- 12:57Speaker 2: fall leaves. Oh, yeah. It's going to be beautiful. All right.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Welcome to almost fall. Welcome to the late 20s. And
- 13:02Speaker 1: you have some news coming up. What are you working on?
- 13:04Speaker 2: All right. So let's check out those headlines. And who
- 13:07Speaker 2: takes longer to make a decision, men or women?
- 13:10Speaker 3: Mort Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Thank you. Officials with the FDNY. are saying they're finding
- 13:18Speaker 2: success with their September 11th-related health monitoring program. This is
- 13:22Speaker 2: as we approach the 25th anniversary of the attacks. Chief
- 13:25Speaker 2: Medical Officer Perensny, president, said cancer patients in the World
- 13:30Speaker 2: Trade Center health program had a better five-year survival rate
- 13:33Speaker 2: than patients who were not in the program. Russian President
- 13:37Speaker 2: Vladimir Putin promising Russian support for Iran. He apparently met
- 13:44Speaker 2: with the president of Iran. saying Putin's pledge of Russian
- 13:47Speaker 2: support for Tehran comes as the U.S. launched another round
- 13:49Speaker 2: of airstrikes on targets inside Iran. The USS Abraham Lincoln
- 13:54Speaker 2: is in Thailand before coming home to San Diego. First
- 13:57Speaker 2: set sail last November, the crew of approximately 5,000 sailors
- 14:01Speaker 2: and Marines expecting a six-month deployment. That turned out to
- 14:05Speaker 2: be 270 consecutive days at sea. Vandalism on Dolly Parton's
- 14:10Speaker 2: Hollywood Walk of Fame star is being repaired. Comes one
- 14:13Speaker 2: week after we learned of her passing. Someone scratched out
- 14:16Speaker 2: her name on the star.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I hope they find this person.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Yeah, the star has been a memorial for fans, you know,
- 14:22Speaker 2: leaving flowers and cards. So they are working on it.
- 14:25Speaker 2: In sports, baseball, Mets lost to the Rays 6-2. Yankees
- 14:28Speaker 2: beat the Angels 7-3. And who's more likely to make
- 14:32Speaker 2: a decision and then stick with it? Is it a
- 14:35Speaker 2: man or a woman? Your guest, Paul Cubby Bryant.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Gotta be us. The dudes.
- 14:40Speaker 2: You would think it would be the dudes, but no. What?
- 14:43Speaker 2: Men change their minds two to three times more often
- 14:46Speaker 2: than women. Now, here's the catch. Women take longer, maybe months,
- 14:50Speaker 2: to make a decision, but we stick with it when
- 14:54Speaker 2: we make the decision. You guys are more likely to
- 14:57Speaker 2: make the decision quicker, but then go, oh, you know what?
- 14:59Speaker 1: Let's, no. Oh, I should have done this. Let's change
- 15:00Speaker 1: it up. Right, right, right. Okay. But you, once you
- 15:03Speaker 1: do make your decision, you are concrete.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Okay.
- 15:07Speaker 2: There we go.
- 15:07Speaker 1: And how's the house coming along.
- 15:08Speaker 2: By the way? Oh, I'll let you know in another
- 15:10Speaker 2: six months.
- 15:10Speaker 3: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 15:16Speaker 1: I like that song. You know, I think I'm pretty
- 15:18Speaker 1: good at picking songs. And then I ran into Rich Kaminsky. Now,
- 15:22Speaker 1: he picks better songs in.
- 15:23Speaker 2: The afternoon sometimes. You think so? I think you do
- 15:25Speaker 2: a good job, too.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Thank you, Christine. You ever meet people and you know what?
- 15:29Speaker 1: They do something better than you and you thought you
- 15:32Speaker 1: were the best at it?
- 15:33Speaker 2: You thought you were good at something.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Yeah. Until.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Right. You meet the professional.
- 15:37Speaker 1: It's a great question to throw out there. Fill in
- 15:38Speaker 1: the blank. You thought you were good at something until
- 15:42Speaker 1: you met.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Someone who's actually great at it.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:46Speaker 2: There's a lot of things. A lot of dudes think
- 15:48Speaker 2: they're good at fighting, and then they meet somebody who
- 15:51Speaker 2: can actually fight in a ring.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Do you know I've never been in a fight?
- 15:55Speaker 2: I'm so glad.
- 15:56Speaker 1: You don't need to. Not even in junior high? Not
- 15:58Speaker 1: even in high school? Not even in elementary school?
- 16:00Speaker 2: That's good.
- 16:00Speaker 1: I don't like confrontation.
- 16:02Speaker 3: No.
- 16:02Speaker 1: But.
- 16:03Speaker 2: You're a lover, not a fighter.
- 16:04Speaker 1: I would get slammed.
- 16:05Speaker 2: I mean.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Okay, so you don't even think that you'd.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Be good at it.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Right, right.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Teach you a couple of things. But photography is, like,
- 16:12Speaker 2: another example. Like, I really, like, am so proud of
- 16:15Speaker 2: my skills. And the only thing I use is my phone, right?
- 16:18Speaker 2: And then my friend Laura, Photog Laura... Right. is, like, amazing.
- 16:22Speaker 1: That's a great point. Yeah. I thought I was good
- 16:25Speaker 1: with editing pictures. Uh-huh. Like, using CapCut. Oh, yeah. There's
- 16:28Speaker 1: an app called CapCut where you can put things together. Mm-hmm.
- 16:30Speaker 1: And then producer Kristen... She'll do something in, like, four
- 16:34Speaker 1: minutes that will take me an hour.
- 16:35Speaker 2: It just blows us away.
- 16:36Speaker 1: And, yeah, so, like, Kristen rocks that kind of thing.
- 16:39Speaker 1: And Deanna, too, like, down the hall.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Deanna's amazing, too.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Yes. One of our digital people. I mean, what they
- 16:44Speaker 1: can do when you give these young whippersnappers a phone.
- 16:47Speaker 1: I know.
- 16:47Speaker 2: I feel like just saying, here's my phone. Here, take it.
- 16:51Speaker 1: When was the last time you heard a whippersnapper?
- 16:53Speaker 2: It's been a minute. How about playing a musical instrument? Like,
- 16:57Speaker 2: you think, like, I'm okay.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
- 16:58Speaker 2: And then you meet Eric, the drummer.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I could never drum like him, I'll tell you that.
- 17:03Speaker 2: He's so good. He's so modest. And he's always like,
- 17:05Speaker 2: you're doing well. He would be such a great teacher.
- 17:09Speaker 2: And teaching is another thing. People think, oh, I got this.
- 17:12Speaker 2: I can teach you about things. But we're not professionals.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Don't want to learn from us.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I have a friend of mine. Do you remember Chris Booker?
- 17:20Speaker 1: He used to work on another radio station. I believe
- 17:23Speaker 1: he was on K-Rock back in the day. And he
- 17:26Speaker 1: had a caller call in all the time and say,
- 17:28Speaker 1: I could do your job.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Oh.
- 17:31Speaker 1: So Chris said, you know what? Come on up here
- 17:34Speaker 1: and do it.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Do my job.
- 17:35Speaker 1: And had him put him on the radio.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Whoa.
- 17:37Speaker 1: And the guy just totally froze.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Whoa.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Didn't know what button to push. Didn't know what to say.
- 17:45Speaker 1: And boom, it was like in your face.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Oh, that's interesting.
- 17:48Speaker 1: So I want to do that to somebody.
- 17:49Speaker 2: That sounds like it should be its own TV show too.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Like do my job.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Do my job.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Like anybody who thinks like I could do that. I
- 17:55Speaker 2: could play golf.
- 17:56Speaker 1: That'd be a great cooking show, wouldn't it?
- 17:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:58Speaker 1: All right, cook this.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Yes, cooking is one of the things too that you
- 18:03Speaker 2: think you're good at. And then you meet somebody who's excellent.
- 18:05Speaker 2: I've done that like with baking. I've been so proud
- 18:07Speaker 2: of these like pretty cupcakes I make. And then my
- 18:10Speaker 2: friend will send me a picture and they're elaborate with
- 18:12Speaker 2: flowers and faces. I'm like, okay. Never mind. Mine look
- 18:16Speaker 2: like a three-year-old made them.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Well, it's a great question. I tell you what, we're
- 18:21Speaker 1: opening up the texting at 44363. Throw out that question
- 18:24Speaker 1: one more time. Fill in the blank.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Something you think that you're really good at, and then
- 18:28Speaker 2: you meet somebody who's great at it.
- 18:29Speaker 1: All right. Text us at 44363. If you're good at
- 18:33Speaker 1: trivia and pop culture things, we have a trivia battle
- 18:36Speaker 1: coming up in about 10 minutes.
- 18:37Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Light FM, Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen. And before we get
- 18:46Speaker 1: to our trivia battle, a burning debate here. Yes. What
- 18:50Speaker 1: would you choose?
- 18:50Speaker 2: Okay, you're given an assignment at work. And if you
- 18:53Speaker 2: get it done quickly, you get a bonus. And the
- 18:56Speaker 2: bonus is either $ 30 cash or a free pizza. Guess
- 19:02Speaker 2: what motivated people to work faster and better?
- 19:05Speaker 1: Let me guess.
- 19:06Speaker 2: The pizza. The pizza, yes. And I was thinking, Cubby,
- 19:10Speaker 2: if we were in the same situation right here at work,
- 19:13Speaker 2: we'd get pretty happy when pizza shows up.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Now, are we excited about the pizza itself because we
- 19:17Speaker 1: love pizza, or is it the fact that $ 30 is
- 19:20Speaker 1: pretty much the price of a pizza anyway?
- 19:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. You know? It's come down to that, yeah.
- 19:25Speaker 1: But the options are... $ 30 if you complete this task
- 19:28Speaker 1: really fast or the pizza.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Yes. It was like an official experiment that was done
- 19:33Speaker 2: at a company.
- 19:33Speaker 1: I love that. Yeah. Well, here at Light FM, we're
- 19:36Speaker 1: going to open the phones. We need two people to
- 19:38Speaker 1: play for concert tickets. We have a trivia battle. 1-800-222-1067.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Tickets to see Sara Bareilles Friday, September 18th at Radio
- 19:46Speaker 2: City Music Hall. Tickets available now at Ticketmaster.com or call...
- 19:50Speaker 2: and play with us.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Good luck.
- 19:51Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 19:55Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 19:57Speaker 1: You pretty good at trivia?
- 19:59Speaker 3: Light FM's Trivia Battle.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Happy hump day, Cubby and Christine. Trivia Battle time. And
- 20:04Speaker 1: on Team Cubby today, she's played before, she's lost. Her
- 20:08Speaker 1: name is Carol. She is from Long Island. Carol, good morning.
- 20:11Speaker 1: What are you doing up so early? Good morning. I'm
- 20:13Speaker 1: listening to the radio. Well, that's a good start. And
- 20:16Speaker 1: do you work? Are you retired? What's the deal? No,
- 20:18Speaker 1: I'm retired, so I don't do much. Oh, I can't
- 20:21Speaker 1: wait for those days.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Sounds nice. Hey, Carol, good luck.
- 20:26Speaker 1: And who's on Team Christine?
- 20:28Speaker 2: Christine. So I'm going to make it easy for everybody
- 20:30Speaker 2: to remember. It's Christine and Christine. Good morning. How are you?
- 20:33Speaker 1: Good morning.
- 20:34Speaker 2: How are you? Good. And you're from Morristown, New Jersey.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Are you a teacher? What's going on with you today?
- 20:41Speaker 1: I'm at work, actually. I just pulled in the parking lot.
- 20:43Speaker 1: So I work in finance.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Oh, in finance.
- 20:47Speaker 1: And correct me if I'm wrong, you've also played before
- 20:50Speaker 1: and lost.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Correct.
- 20:51Speaker 1: All right. One of you is going to be a
- 20:53Speaker 1: winner here. That's right.
- 20:53Speaker 2: We're going to change that.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Carol, you'll get three questions. Christine will get three questions.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Best out of three wins our trivia battle. Here we go.
- 21:00Speaker 1: All right, Carol. Actor Aaron Paul, he played Jesse Pinkman
- 21:05Speaker 1: on which of these series? A, Sons of Anarchy, B,
- 21:09Speaker 1: Breaking Bad, C, Dexter. I have no idea.
- 21:14Speaker 3: I guess I'll go with A.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Sons of Anarchy. No, the show was Breaking Bad, Carol.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Okay, Christine, here we go. What is the name of
- 21:26Speaker 2: Jackie Chan's co-star in the Rush Hour movie? Is it A,
- 21:29Speaker 2: Kevin Hart... B, Chris Tucker. C, Chris Rock. B, Chris Tucker.
- 21:35Speaker 2: You got it, yes.
- 21:37Speaker 1: All right, Christine is on the board, 1-0. All right, Carol,
- 21:40Speaker 1: which music awards show held its very first ceremony in
- 21:45Speaker 1: September 1984? Was it A, the American Music Awards, B,
- 21:51Speaker 1: Billboard Music Awards, or C, MTV Video Music Awards?
- 21:56Speaker 2: MTV.
- 21:57Speaker 1: You are correct, and we have a tie game here, 1-1.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Okay, Christine, which Nintendo platform game was released in Japan
- 22:04Speaker 2: in September of 1985? Was it A, Super Mario Brothers, B,
- 22:08Speaker 2: Donkey Kong, C, The Legend of Zelda?
- 22:12Speaker 1: I'm going to go with A, Super Mario Brothers.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Good choice. That's correct.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Okay, so Christine is up 2-1 now. Carol, trying to
- 22:20Speaker 1: tie it up here. Carol, which Major League Baseball team
- 22:23Speaker 1: is launching a scripted rom-com series titled Nine Innings to Love?
- 22:29Speaker 1: It's set to premiere on TikTok this Friday. Is it A,
- 22:32Speaker 1: Chicago Cubs, B, New York Mets, or C, Texas Rangers? Oh, lordy, D.
- 22:38Speaker 2: What was the first one?
- 22:41Speaker 1: Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, or Texas Rangers? Let's go
- 22:46Speaker 1: with the Mets. Going with the Mets. Never go with
- 22:48Speaker 1: the Mets. Aw, sorry. I'm sorry, Carol. No, Chicago Cubs
- 22:54Speaker 1: is your answer.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Okay.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Thank you. Thank you.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Carol, you can always play again. Christine, congratulations. You've done it.
- 23:01Speaker 2: You're the winner. You're going to see Sara Bareilles. Thank you. Friday,
- 23:05Speaker 2: September 18th at Radio City Music Hall. You're welcome.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Oh, you guys are the best, and sorry, Carol. Yeah,
- 23:11Speaker 1: we hung up on her already. Sorry about that. I mean,
- 23:15Speaker 1: it's true. We didn't mean to hang up on her, but,
- 23:17Speaker 1: you know, we had to move on.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Oh.
- 23:19Speaker 1: But Carol, like we say all the time, play again.
- 23:21Speaker 1: And she has played again. Yes. And unfortunately lost again.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Okay, she's due a win.
- 23:25Speaker 1: She's due. Yes. All right, we'll talk to her tomorrow maybe.
- 23:28Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 23:33Speaker 1: We have a secret for you. It involves food. 106.7
- 23:37Speaker 1: Light FM. Cubby and Christine in the morning. This is
- 23:40Speaker 1: one of those things where you have to be in
- 23:41Speaker 1: the know, right, Christine?
- 23:42Speaker 2: Yes, you do.
- 23:43Speaker 1: So we all know about Happy Meals. We grew up
- 23:45Speaker 1: on Happy Meals.
- 23:46Speaker 2: And they're so comforting.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Yes.
- 23:48Speaker 1: We're all grown up now, and we want to be ecstatic.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Serendipity just stopped by and dropped off Ecstatic Meals. And
- 23:58Speaker 1: they're in a box just like a Happy Meal.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Just like a Happy Meal.
- 24:01Speaker 1: And we have heard that it's not on the menu,
- 24:04Speaker 1: but if you ask for it, you'll get this special
- 24:08Speaker 1: little meal.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Yes, exactly.
- 24:09Speaker 1: And it starts when? Tuesday, September 8th?
- 24:12Speaker 2: Right. So right after Labor Day and Serendipity 3, we
- 24:15Speaker 2: know is on the Upper East Side and also here
- 24:17Speaker 2: in Times Square on West 47th Street. So adults, go
- 24:21Speaker 2: in there and ask for the ecstatic meal. You have
- 24:25Speaker 2: a choice between two. The sliders with truffle fries. Say wagyu. Wagyu.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's W-A-G-Y-U. Is it Wagyu sliders? Wagyu. Wagyu.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Wagyu sliders with truffle fries.
- 24:40Speaker 1: And that's, by the way, honey, if you're listening, that's
- 24:41Speaker 1: what I'm bringing home. I have a box of the sliders.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Oh, good.
- 24:45Speaker 2: And I grabbed the Italian hot chicken with Cajun fries.
- 24:48Speaker 2: And then you have a choice. You can get... A
- 24:50Speaker 2: mini boxed wine or Serendipity's three very famous and very
- 24:54Speaker 2: delicious frozen hot chocolate.
- 24:56Speaker 1: And we're sipping on that right now, too.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:58Speaker 1: It's not traditional fast food. It's comfort food with a
- 25:01Speaker 1: luxury twist, if you will.
- 25:04Speaker 2: And it's delicious.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Again, it's not on the menu. But if you say it,
- 25:07Speaker 1: if you go into a Serendipity, Upper East Side, they
- 25:10Speaker 1: have a location, 225 East 60th. And they have a
- 25:13Speaker 1: Times Square location, 157 West 47th Street. You go to Serendipity,
- 25:17Speaker 1: you say, I want the ecstatic meal, and you'll get it.
- 25:20Speaker 1: But it starts Tuesday, September 8th. So can't do it
- 25:22Speaker 1: this week. But right after Labor Day, you can get
- 25:25Speaker 1: on this secret menu thing.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Thank you, Serendipity 3, for stopping by this morning.
- 25:29Speaker 1: And what do we have now? I do believe we
- 25:31Speaker 1: have a giveaway.
