A 49-year-old man, Kristopher Whitehurst, died in custody at the Muscle Shoals Police Department Jail after being booked for public intoxication. Though initially booked without incident, he was found unresponsive during a routine check on Friday, prompting emergency responders to rush him to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
