- 0:37SPEAKER_14: Let's let's just take like a 30-minute nap and record it.
- 0:43SPEAKER_08: That would be entertaining, actually.
- 0:46SPEAKER_14: Better than all our other podcasts.
- 0:48SPEAKER_08: Probably.
- 0:49SPEAKER_14: People are like, hey, share that episode where they just slept for 30 minutes.
- 0:52SPEAKER_11: It's awesome.
- 0:53SPEAKER_11: It's like they were they were it they were imitating me when I listened to their episodes.
- 0:58SPEAKER_14: It was just like, eh, this is the best episode ever.
- 1:00SPEAKER_14: I should do more sleep episodes.
- 1:03SPEAKER_14: Do you know there's actually podcasts where they just read you stories in a really like monotone in one of these voices?
- 1:10SPEAKER_14: Really?
- 1:11SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:11SPEAKER_14: It's called literally called sleep.
- 1:14SPEAKER_08: The the the podcast.
- 1:16SPEAKER_08: The podcast is called sleep.
- 1:17SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:17SPEAKER_08: I'm gonna look into that.
- 1:19SPEAKER_14: It's actually kind of good because he just reads like different stories, and I mean you just you're just like listening to them go on and on, and you're just like, next thing you know, it's like three o'clock in the morning.
- 1:29SPEAKER_14: You're like, what happened?
- 1:31SPEAKER_08: Right?
- 1:33SPEAKER_14: Was I listened to this?
- 1:34SPEAKER_08: So um we should probably start the episode uh like.
- 1:38SPEAKER_08: Oh, I thought we were like we we were.
- 1:40SPEAKER_08: We are, I mean, we have.
- 1:41SPEAKER_08: Oh hi, I'm O'Brien.
- 1:42SPEAKER_14: I'm Doug.
- 1:43SPEAKER_08: There.
- 1:44SPEAKER_08: Hi.
- 1:44SPEAKER_08: Hi.
- 1:45SPEAKER_08: Hi, hello everybody.
- 1:46SPEAKER_08: Hello, everyone.
- 1:47SPEAKER_14: We're sorry about last week.
- 1:48SPEAKER_08: Yes, oh yes, that's right.
- 1:49SPEAKER_08: We we we we took last week off inadvertently.
- 1:53SPEAKER_14: Well, it was uh kind of an unexpected uh thing.
- 1:56SPEAKER_08: So Yeah, we had what was it?
- 1:58SPEAKER_08: We had I well my fault.
- 2:00SPEAKER_08: It was my fault because Well, I wasn't gonna say it, but yeah, I was my kids' fault, really.
- 2:04SPEAKER_14: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:06SPEAKER_14: You want to get inducted in NHS.
- 2:09SPEAKER_14: What do you think you are?
- 2:10SPEAKER_14: Smart.
- 2:12SPEAKER_08: Jeez.
- 2:13SPEAKER_08: See, but I I would have known that, but I forgot about the syndicate rehearsal.
- 2:18SPEAKER_08: So here we so we usually record on a Tuesday, and uh my son was inducted into the National Honor Society.
- 2:26SPEAKER_08: Good for him.
- 2:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 2:28SPEAKER_08: On Tuesday.
- 2:29SPEAKER_08: And so I was like, can we record one?
- 2:30SPEAKER_12: Weren't haven't all your kids been in NHS?
- 2:32SPEAKER_08: So far, yeah.
- 2:33SPEAKER_08: That's what I thought.
- 2:34SPEAKER_08: So far, it's gonna end with Finn, I'm sure.
- 2:39SPEAKER_08: But we got ha I hope so.
- 2:44SPEAKER_08: We got here's the reason I say that.
- 2:46SPEAKER_08: He could he could be in NHS.
- 2:50SPEAKER_08: I don't think he wants to.
- 2:51SPEAKER_14: Oh, okay.
- 2:51SPEAKER_14: Well that's different.
- 2:52SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:53SPEAKER_14: Yeah, you don't want to be part of it.
- 2:54SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I don't blame him.
- 2:55SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 2:56SPEAKER_14: I couldn't get into it if I wanted to.
- 2:58SPEAKER_08: Well, neither could I.
- 2:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so I was just like, I never asked if my wife was in NHS.
- 3:02SPEAKER_08: She probably was.
- 3:03SPEAKER_14: Hold on.
- 3:03SPEAKER_14: Hey Teresa, are you in NHS?
- 3:08SPEAKER_14: Oh, okay.
- 3:10SPEAKER_08: Are you gonna tell me what she said?
- 3:12SPEAKER_14: No, she said not to tell you.
- 3:13SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 3:14SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I would imagine she might have been in NHS.
- 3:17SPEAKER_08: I imagine she was.
- 3:18SPEAKER_08: She's pretty smart.
- 3:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 3:18SPEAKER_08: She's a pretty smart cookie.
- 3:20SPEAKER_08: She's a pretty smart cookie.
- 3:21SPEAKER_08: Um, so yeah, and then uh so I was like, can we do Wednesday night?
- 3:24SPEAKER_08: Can we record Wednesday night?
- 3:25SPEAKER_08: And you're like, yeah, let's do Wednesday night.
- 3:26SPEAKER_08: And I was like, oh wait, we have syndicate rehearsals.
- 3:29SPEAKER_08: You're like, We do?
- 3:30SPEAKER_14: Well, I wasn't at the last one, so I totally I didn't know there was another one.
- 3:33SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 3:34SPEAKER_08: So uh we did, uh, which went pretty well, I think.
- 3:37SPEAKER_14: And uh that was good.
- 3:39SPEAKER_14: Um I had spiderwebs stuck in my head for like a day.
- 3:42SPEAKER_08: Oh, that's right, yeah.
- 3:43SPEAKER_08: We're so we're doing a no doubt song.
- 3:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah um, no doubt, because John is a big no doubt fan.
- 3:48SPEAKER_08: Oh yes, he does.
- 3:49SPEAKER_08: Um it was funny because we were sitting in between uh in between takes at tonight at the pit rehearsal, and uh just it was really quiet, and they're trying to figure something out, and I went do do right.
- 4:03SPEAKER_08: He turns around.
- 4:07SPEAKER_14: He is he has changed so much in the years that we've we've known John.
- 4:10SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 4:11SPEAKER_08: I mean he's he's now Mr.
- 4:12SPEAKER_08: Rock and Roll.
- 4:13SPEAKER_08: For sure.
- 4:14SPEAKER_08: Well he uh he was well in the beginning, he was just kind of shy and reserved, yeah.
- 4:18SPEAKER_08: And and then he took more of a uh well, I mean he he and Sarah are the ones and Anthony does some too, but he and Sarah are the ones that transpose all the charts.
- 4:26SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 4:27SPEAKER_08: Not transpose, but chart them.
- 4:29SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 4:30SPEAKER_08: Uh the for the horns, and and so he he puts a lot of effort into it and uh um kind of l lends him uh puts him in a leadership role.
- 4:42SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 4:42SPEAKER_08: You know, because the horns are like, huh, well what did you mean there, John?
- 4:44SPEAKER_08: And he'll explain, you know, what he means.
- 4:46SPEAKER_08: So he's we kind of look to him.
- 4:47SPEAKER_08: I've always looked to him as the as the musical director of the scene.
- 4:51SPEAKER_14: I mean, Chris is the captain, but John is the musical director.
- 4:53SPEAKER_14: For sure.
- 4:54SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 4:54SPEAKER_08: Uh but you're right, he has loosened up quite a bit.
- 4:57SPEAKER_08: We were we're all friends.
- 4:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 4:59SPEAKER_08: You know, and we I think that's part of it.
- 5:00SPEAKER_08: As we've gotten to know each other, you know, and and yeah.
- 5:03SPEAKER_08: So it's yeah, he's just so funny now.
- 5:05SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 5:08SPEAKER_08: Well he did it too.
- 5:10SPEAKER_08: Before before I played that earlier, he played uh um sabotage.
- 5:15SPEAKER_08: He still loves the other.
- 5:15SPEAKER_08: He still loves it, yeah.
- 5:17SPEAKER_08: Um Where was where was I?
- 5:20SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah, so so we had rehearsal on Wednesday night.
- 5:23SPEAKER_08: So uh you were made the executive decision, let's just skip this week.
- 5:28SPEAKER_14: Let's just kind of I mean otherwise we were gonna like do a live one on Thursday.
- 5:34SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 5:34SPEAKER_14: You know what I mean?
- 5:35SPEAKER_14: Be just like, uh hey, we're putting this directly on the podcast.
- 5:39SPEAKER_14: Can you be at my house at 8 a.m.?
- 5:41SPEAKER_14: 80 and here we go, everybody.
- 5:45SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 5:46SPEAKER_08: So uh so we apologize for uh not having a podcast last week.
- 5:49SPEAKER_14: Actually, isn't next week?
- 5:50SPEAKER_14: We're taking next week off too.
- 5:52SPEAKER_08: We are taking it because it's Thanksgiving.
- 5:53SPEAKER_08: Thanksgiving.
- 5:54SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 5:55SPEAKER_14: Well, this is the in-between podcast.
- 6:00SPEAKER_08: It's gonna stalk.
- 6:02SPEAKER_14: That's the name of the episode, the stocking in-between podcast.
- 6:06SPEAKER_08: The uh the in-between breaks podcast or the in-between, yeah, whatever.
- 6:11SPEAKER_08: We'll figure out not that I think anybody missed us.
- 6:13SPEAKER_08: Well, maybe they did because you posted something and there was a lot of sad faces on social media.
- 6:18SPEAKER_08: There are people that posted that I was like, I can't believe you listened to the podcast.
- 6:22SPEAKER_14: Right, exactly.
- 6:22SPEAKER_14: You listen to the podcast?
- 6:24SPEAKER_14: Really?
- 6:25unknown: Yeah.
- 6:25SPEAKER_14: Well, I mean, I I I suppose.
- 6:27SPEAKER_14: I mean, we get like 20 something downloads a week.
- 6:30SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 6:30SPEAKER_14: So so people are our listening.
- 6:32SPEAKER_14: I think we I think people, I think a lot of the like you know, we have that one consistent person in Germany.
- 6:37SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 6:38SPEAKER_14: That I'm for like years have been listening to us, and I have no idea.
- 6:41SPEAKER_14: They've never like reached out to us or you know, like made any contact with us.
- 6:47SPEAKER_14: I think it's great.
- 6:48SPEAKER_08: Do you think it's a bot?
- 6:50SPEAKER_08: I have no idea.
- 6:50SPEAKER_08: I don't care.
- 6:51SPEAKER_08: It's Germany.
- 6:52SPEAKER_14: Yeah, right.
- 6:52SPEAKER_14: You know, it's like Guthendog.
- 6:55SPEAKER_14: You know, so you know, just hey, man, I don't know.
- 6:57SPEAKER_14: Maybe it's a bot, I don't know.
- 6:58SPEAKER_14: Maybe it's just somebody just stumbled.
- 7:00SPEAKER_14: I think I think a lot of them are just people just stumble on the podcast and they're like, ah, oh, these guys are idiots.
- 7:06SPEAKER_14: Next podcast, please.
- 7:08SPEAKER_14: So I don't know.
- 7:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 7:10SPEAKER_14: Um, I enjoy being an idiot.
- 7:13SPEAKER_08: So do I.
- 7:14SPEAKER_08: I'm a really tired idiot tonight, so I'm probably I'm surprised I'm not laughing at everything you say.
- 7:21SPEAKER_08: So what else is going on?
- 7:23SPEAKER_08: So uh I'm getting beat uh NFL fantasy by John.
- 7:27SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I think your daughter's beating me.
- 7:29SPEAKER_08: Uh barely.
- 7:30SPEAKER_14: She's beating Yeah, it's really, really close.
- 7:32SPEAKER_14: We were talking last night, actually, because she posted pictures of her going to the Steelers.
- 7:36SPEAKER_14: Yeah, she was at the Steelers, but she had good seats.
- 7:39SPEAKER_14: That's what I said.
- 7:39SPEAKER_14: I said, You had awesome seats.
- 7:40SPEAKER_14: She goes, I know.
- 7:42SPEAKER_14: And I'm like, I'm like, wow.
- 7:43SPEAKER_14: But uh, I haven't checked it.
- 7:45SPEAKER_14: Uh I still got a player to play today.
- 7:47SPEAKER_08: I do too.
- 7:48SPEAKER_08: So but I don't think it's gonna get me.
- 7:51SPEAKER_14: But you know honestly, I don't yeah, she's gonna kick my butt.
- 7:55SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so I would need I would need a good 30 points from my tight end, and I don't think that's gonna happen.
- 8:00SPEAKER_14: I'm trying to see who she has left to play.
- 8:03SPEAKER_14: Uh wait a minute.
- 8:06SPEAKER_14: Oh.
- 8:08SPEAKER_14: She's got Mixon to play, and I got um Gasecki there.
- 8:14SPEAKER_08: It's still gonna be close, though.
- 8:15SPEAKER_08: You guys are pretty pretty.
- 8:16SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it's gonna be yeah, we'll see.
- 8:18SPEAKER_14: I mean, you know.
- 8:19SPEAKER_14: Oh no.
- 8:20SPEAKER_13: Oh, freaking.
- 8:22SPEAKER_08: Are they inactive?
- 8:24SPEAKER_14: No, I I was looking at the wrong one.
- 8:25SPEAKER_14: I got Dowdle.
- 8:28SPEAKER_14: My running back.
- 8:29SPEAKER_08: So Dallas.
- 8:30SPEAKER_08: I hate when that happens because so I was all set and I was projected to beat John, right?
- 8:36SPEAKER_08: Which really doesn't mean anything.
- 8:37SPEAKER_14: John, John has been the dark horse of this.
- 8:40SPEAKER_14: He's just like kicking everybody's butt.
- 8:42SPEAKER_08: But I had I had everything in place, and then on Sunday, I go to look at it, and uh Tipton is inactive.
- 8:50SPEAKER_08: My wide receiver.
- 8:51unknown: Oh.
- 8:52SPEAKER_08: Yeah, like the morning, that morning.
- 8:54SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 8:54SPEAKER_08: He went inactive.
- 8:55SPEAKER_08: So I didn't have so he got me zero points.
- 8:57SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 8:57SPEAKER_08: So that's and and of course, Lockett, the other wide receiver, got me three points.
- 9:02SPEAKER_11: Oh, well, he's Mr.
- 9:04SPEAKER_08: Productive.
- 9:05SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 9:05SPEAKER_08: And Derrick Henry, ten.
- 9:08SPEAKER_08: That's that's sad for him.
- 9:09SPEAKER_08: That's sad for him.
- 9:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 9:10SPEAKER_08: So yeah, I I just uh kind of I'm I'm I'm losing to him, and there's a small possibility, but I don't think my tight end is gonna get me 30 points.
- 9:20SPEAKER_14: No, unless it's George Kittle on a steroids.
- 9:24SPEAKER_08: So I'm I've pretty much lost to uh to John.
- 9:26SPEAKER_14: But I know it's not, yeah.
- 9:27SPEAKER_14: Um but I'm still waiting to see.
- 9:29SPEAKER_14: We still got a long time.
- 9:30SPEAKER_08: You do have to do that.
- 9:30SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 9:31SPEAKER_08: But although uh cousin Larry beat Josh.
- 9:34SPEAKER_14: Well, uh Josh isn't playing.
- 9:36SPEAKER_08: I know, but cousin Larry beat Josh.
- 9:38SPEAKER_14: Yeah, he needs he needs a wheelchair.
- 9:39SPEAKER_14: He needs some wins.
- 9:40SPEAKER_14: Yeah, he needs some wins.
- 9:41SPEAKER_14: I'm glad he won.
- 9:42SPEAKER_08: Yeah, me too.
- 9:43SPEAKER_08: Uh okay, so uh do you notice you probably don't notice anything missing.
- 9:48SPEAKER_08: Um but there is there are things missing in here.
- 9:52SPEAKER_08: So this I told you about this.
- 9:54SPEAKER_09: Right?
- 9:56SPEAKER_08: Right the modern band thing?
- 9:57SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 9:57SPEAKER_08: So I'm starting this at the high school, um, and I uh it just dawned on me the other day.
- 10:02SPEAKER_08: Because this is just a compact space, the fun dungeon, right?
- 10:08SPEAKER_08: Just it's i i there's so much junk in here.
- 10:13SPEAKER_08: And yeah, you probably don't even notice.
- 10:16SPEAKER_14: I don't notice any I don't notice anything.
- 10:18SPEAKER_08: And you wouldn't, because it usually was over there.
- 10:20SPEAKER_08: But I had I have a lot of guitars.
- 10:24SPEAKER_14: Well, tell me something I don't know.
- 10:26SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 10:26SPEAKER_08: Um and I don't play them all.
- 10:28SPEAKER_08: I mean I I want to play them all, but I just don't have time.
- 10:32SPEAKER_08: I also had a couple of amps, I had a bass amp.
- 10:35SPEAKER_08: Anyway, I and the drum set that was over there in the other section.
- 10:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 10:41SPEAKER_08: I brought all that stuff into the high school in my chorus.
- 10:46SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 10:46SPEAKER_08: So now I have I have like seven of my guitars lined in a in a guitar stand.
- 10:52SPEAKER_08: I have the drum set all set up.
- 10:55SPEAKER_08: Um so we're gonna use those temporarily until I can, I don't know, get a grant or something to get some more instruments.
- 11:01SPEAKER_08: And this is this is assuming that I'm gonna have a lot of people that want to do it.
- 11:06SPEAKER_08: I may not.
- 11:07SPEAKER_14: Yeah, you never know.
- 11:08SPEAKER_08: You know, so I've got I've got a couple bases in there, a couple acoustic guitars.
- 11:11SPEAKER_08: I think I have three electric guitars.
- 11:13SPEAKER_08: Got two amps and uh bass amp and the drum set, and now I just have to get chords and straps and all that stuff.
- 11:21SPEAKER_08: But I c I cleared them.
- 11:23SPEAKER_14: When do you actually start?
- 11:25SPEAKER_08: Uh January.
- 11:26SPEAKER_14: Oh, so you still got some time.
- 11:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 11:28SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 11:28SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 11:28SPEAKER_08: Um but I I cleared them out.
- 11:31SPEAKER_08: Not that you would notice that they're gone because they were all kind of piled over there.
- 11:35SPEAKER_14: Well, now that you mentioned it does it does look a little less congested over there.
- 11:40SPEAKER_08: But over there there was an amplifier, uh actually two amplifiers, and I thought so those are gone.
- 11:45SPEAKER_08: And the big thing is I moved the drum set and all the stuff out from in front of the the oil tank because we gotta have our oil tank required.
- 11:52SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I was about to say, yeah.
- 11:53SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so I did I did that.
- 11:54SPEAKER_08: That's not completely done, but but that helped.
- 11:57SPEAKER_08: So Well good.
- 11:57SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 11:58SPEAKER_08: So that'll be fun.
- 11:59SPEAKER_08: I'm excited about it.
- 12:00SPEAKER_08: This this modern band thing, it's it's it's uh it's exciting.
- 12:05SPEAKER_08: It's like it's like school of rock, you know, for for high school kids so that they can kids that don't uh don't want to play trumpet in the band, uh they can join this and we can we can play some some rock and you know whatever.
- 12:19SPEAKER_08: Even some songwriting, you know.
- 12:20SPEAKER_14: Oh, yeah, sure.
- 12:21SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it'll be fun.
- 12:22SPEAKER_14: Doesn't uh Kevin Mania does Kevin Mania and Holton does it.
- 12:25SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 12:25SPEAKER_08: Uh well John does it.
- 12:26SPEAKER_08: John Simonoff does it.
- 12:28SPEAKER_08: Oh he does.
- 12:28SPEAKER_14: Oh yeah.
- 12:29SPEAKER_14: Oh yeah, I didn't know that.
- 12:30SPEAKER_08: Uh Sarah does a little bit.
- 12:31SPEAKER_08: Cool.
- 12:31SPEAKER_08: Uh in Limestor or Washburn.
- 12:33SPEAKER_08: And I think uh well, Jen Holmes.
- 12:36SPEAKER_08: Uh you don't know Jen Holmes.
- 12:37SPEAKER_08: I do.
- 12:38SPEAKER_08: You know Jen Holmes.
- 12:39SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:39SPEAKER_08: She does it in Woodland.
- 12:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 12:41SPEAKER_08: For for the younger kids, actually.
- 12:42SPEAKER_08: So cool.
- 12:43SPEAKER_08: So yeah, I'm excited about it.
- 12:45SPEAKER_08: I think it's gonna be fun.
- 12:47SPEAKER_08: So that's what I got going on.
- 12:48SPEAKER_08: Just a ton of stuff.
- 12:49SPEAKER_08: And then I got that songwriting thing.
- 12:50SPEAKER_08: Did I tell you about that?
- 12:52SPEAKER_08: The uh count uh uh Rustic County Songwriter Circle.
- 12:57SPEAKER_08: Did I tell you?
- 12:58SPEAKER_14: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:58SPEAKER_14: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:59SPEAKER_14: You were I didn't know you got around uh So I've got I've got three writers.
- 13:04SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 13:04SPEAKER_08: Jen Holmes is one of them.
- 13:05SPEAKER_14: Okay, good.
- 13:05SPEAKER_08: Jake Graham and Ryan Sear.
- 13:08SPEAKER_08: Oh, cool.
- 13:09SPEAKER_08: And so we're gonna get together and we're gonna kind of flesh it out and how that works.
- 13:13SPEAKER_08: And so uh the first Friday of 2025, I think it's I think it's the third, January third, um, we're gonna do a intimate uh here's the thing that's gotta be uh we have to educate the public.
- 13:28SPEAKER_08: Uh and I'm worried about this.
- 13:30SPEAKER_08: Is this not a go grab a beer and socialize with your friends uh event.
- 13:38SPEAKER_08: I mean it it is to a certain extent.
- 13:40SPEAKER_08: But where are you having it?
- 13:41SPEAKER_08: At the lounge.
- 13:43SPEAKER_08: Yeah, in at the Northeast.
- 13:44SPEAKER_08: So it's not a hang out at the bar and just talk and talk and talk and talk and talk while we're performing.
- 13:51SPEAKER_08: This is a listening experience.
- 13:54SPEAKER_08: This is this well, actually, I should say this is what I want it to be.
- 13:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that's not what it's going to be.
- 14:00SPEAKER_08: I know.
- 14:00SPEAKER_14: I I'm I'm I'm you're you're you're naively optimistic about this, and I I I pro I I applaud it, but I know this is just gonna be you're just gonna get a bunch of dumb uh you know, just sitting around drinking play play this play, you know, you know, the usual idiotic stuff.
- 14:21SPEAKER_08: Well that's what from from from now until January is about.
- 14:25SPEAKER_08: It's about educating the public.
- 14:28SPEAKER_08: So I've got a flyer that I'm gonna put on Facebook um that says it's a an intimate uh storyteller type listening experience.
- 14:39SPEAKER_08: Um from with some of the some of the county's uh Well, first thing, tell them not to sell alcohol.
- 14:45SPEAKER_08: Well no, they have they the the the north the the hotel is gonna want to make money.
- 14:49SPEAKER_14: Uh well then you're screwed.
- 14:50SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 14:51SPEAKER_08: Sorry.
- 14:51SPEAKER_08: I hope I I hope not.
- 14:53SPEAKER_14: You're screwed.
- 14:54SPEAKER_08: But you know, we'll work it out.
- 14:56SPEAKER_08: Uh and if if that's end up uh that ends up what it's going to be like, then you know, I just won't do it again.
- 15:03SPEAKER_14: Well, I think I think you could pull it off, it was in someplace else.
- 15:07SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 15:08SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 15:08SPEAKER_08: So well the lounge is not the place.
- 15:12SPEAKER_08: I think it depends on how you set it up.
- 15:14SPEAKER_08: Because uh we're not gonna be in a corner.
- 15:17SPEAKER_08: We're gonna be in the middle of everything.
- 15:19SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 15:19SPEAKER_08: Um, in a circle.
- 15:21SPEAKER_08: So people are gonna have to walk around and line up in a circle?
- 15:25SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 15:25SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 15:26SPEAKER_08: Did I say line up?
- 15:28SPEAKER_08: No, I said that.
- 15:28SPEAKER_14: So we're gonna I wanted to say if you would go like No, I didn't.
- 15:33SPEAKER_14: Did you say line up into a circle?
- 15:35SPEAKER_08: I never question anything you say, Doug.
- 15:36SPEAKER_14: That's probably not good.
- 15:40SPEAKER_08: So, you know, we'll be in a we'll be in a circle.
- 15:43SPEAKER_08: This is the idea.
- 15:44SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 15:45SPEAKER_08: And uh you know I was thinking that we would start with a cover song that everybody know that we could do.
- 15:53SPEAKER_08: And and then we would just pick out of a hat like who's gonna go first, and then each of us will play one of our own songs.
- 16:00SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 16:01SPEAKER_08: Um five songs each.
- 16:02SPEAKER_08: So it should be a couple hours and then we're done.
- 16:05SPEAKER_08: And then you can drink and party hardy if you want to, if you want to.
- 16:09SPEAKER_14: Well, I I mean I love the idea.
- 16:10SPEAKER_14: I just yeah, I just don't think that's the place to do it.
- 16:13SPEAKER_08: Yeah, well we'll see.
- 16:14SPEAKER_08: We'll see.
- 16:14SPEAKER_14: I think hopefully I mean I hope it goes well.
- 16:16SPEAKER_08: But uh I hope you're wrong.
- 16:20SPEAKER_14: I hope I am too.
- 16:21SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I really do.
- 16:22SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 16:23SPEAKER_08: So uh I don't know where else I would do it.
- 16:25SPEAKER_08: I guess that's the that's the other question.
- 16:26SPEAKER_14: I don't know.
- 16:27SPEAKER_14: That's that's the thing.
- 16:28SPEAKER_14: I mean, we're such a musical wasteland.
- 16:30SPEAKER_08: It is so it really is, and that's one of the reasons I wanted to do it, is because there's a lot of people around here that write their own songs, but they have no outlet to share them.
- 16:38SPEAKER_14: Well, it's because people want you to be uh freaking iPad uh iPod so they can drink.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: This is true.
- 16:44SPEAKER_14: That's all that's all they want bands for, is you know, just to drink.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 16:49SPEAKER_14: You know, and it's just it's just frustrating as musicians because you know they don't really give a crap.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:54SPEAKER_14: You know, you're just there as entertainment and that's it.
- 16:57SPEAKER_14: You know, you can't I mean we work our own stongs into our set list because nobody listens.
- 17:02SPEAKER_14: Because nobody's paying attention anyway, so we might as well.
- 17:04SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 17:05SPEAKER_14: You know?
- 17:05SPEAKER_14: So i I don't know.
- 17:06SPEAKER_14: It's just it's just frustrating to me.
- 17:08SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 17:09SPEAKER_08: You know, so no, I I feel that.
- 17:11SPEAKER_08: And so I mean, we see how the first one goes, and if it doesn't go well, then maybe I don't hold another one.
- 17:18SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 17:19SPEAKER_08: But I've never known the idea is to do it on the first Friday, uh, January, February, and March.
- 17:24SPEAKER_08: That's that's what they've given me.
- 17:25SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 17:25SPEAKER_08: It's January, February, and March for the first Friday.
- 17:28SPEAKER_08: And so we'll try it.
- 17:29SPEAKER_08: We'll try it in January, and if it it flops, then we just won't do it again.
- 17:33SPEAKER_08: No, no harm, no foul.
- 17:35SPEAKER_14: Yeah, and you never know what you're doing.
- 17:36SPEAKER_08: And the well, that's the cool thing about it.
- 17:39SPEAKER_08: This is why I think it could be a little different, and I think I've told you this.
- 17:43SPEAKER_08: Is it's by donation and all proceeds go to a charity.
- 17:47SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 17:47SPEAKER_08: I'm not sure what charity yet.
- 17:52SPEAKER_08: But uh I want to do a roostic hospice house because they they get a lot of charity.
- 17:59SPEAKER_14: So they don't need any anymore.
- 18:01SPEAKER_08: But what I'm saying is it's worthy, it's a worthy cause, but everybody seems to be doing that.
- 18:05SPEAKER_08: Oh, I see.
- 18:06SPEAKER_08: You know, so I want to do something that that they're not doing.
- 18:09SPEAKER_14: You could you could you could donate to the O'Brien and Doug charity podcast legacy thing.
- 18:20SPEAKER_08: We could raise raise money for Doug.
- 18:22SPEAKER_14: We're gonna we're gonna we're gonna raise money and we're gonna we're gonna send missiles to Ukraine.
- 18:32SPEAKER_14: Every every dollar sends a missile to the Ukraine.
- 18:38SPEAKER_14: And we'll put your name on the missile.
- 18:40SPEAKER_14: And you can put a little message on there and be like, hey Putin, suck on this.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: We're not getting we're not getting political.
- 18:51SPEAKER_14: No, I'm just I'm just stating fact.
- 18:53SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 18:54SPEAKER_14: So all right, let's get to this.
- 18:57SPEAKER_14: Yeah, let's let's talk about music.
- 19:02SPEAKER_08: So the only thing I found worthy of something to talk about on ultimate classicrock.com was the top 40 glam metal songs.
- 19:14SPEAKER_08: And we've, you know.
- 19:15SPEAKER_14: I finished I finished that book.
- 19:17SPEAKER_14: So uh nothing but a good time.
- 19:19SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 19:20SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 19:20SPEAKER_08: Um did you finish the uh Alex Van Halen one?
- 19:23SPEAKER_08: No, I'm still working on that one.
- 19:25SPEAKER_08: Walmart has it.
- 19:26SPEAKER_08: I almost bought it the other day.
- 19:27SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I mean it's an easy read.
- 19:29SPEAKER_14: So I mean no.
- 19:29SPEAKER_14: I've been listening to it on Audible.
- 19:31SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 19:31SPEAKER_14: So I mean it's it's it's good.
- 19:33SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 19:33SPEAKER_14: You just it's just I don't know.
- 19:36SPEAKER_08: I it's somebody somebody wrote an article and the headline was something like Um Your Teenage Sister Could have Written the Alex Van Halen book.
- 19:44SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it's I mean it's very simplistic, but you know, that he is a drummer.
- 19:49SPEAKER_14: You know, I'm surprised there's not like pages for coloring.
- 19:53SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 19:53SPEAKER_14: You know, it's written you know, the E's are backwards and stuff, you know what I mean?
- 19:57SPEAKER_14: So, you know, you know, I I I mean I applaud him for, you know, getting somebody to ghostwrite it.
- 20:03SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 20:03SPEAKER_14: Or whatever, you know, actually, you know, check his spelling or whatever.
- 20:09SPEAKER_08: Oh.
- 20:10SPEAKER_14: But it's not it's not overly interesting, that's the thing.
- 20:12SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 20:13SPEAKER_14: It's just it's just like everything, it's basically just about him and Eddie.
- 20:17SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 20:17SPEAKER_14: So far.
- 20:18SPEAKER_14: He does talk about Michael Anthony, about how they first met him.
- 20:21SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 20:22SPEAKER_14: You know, so he does so Michael Anthony is actually mentioned because I think somebody said that.
- 20:26SPEAKER_14: Somebody said that he wasn't.
- 20:27SPEAKER_14: He wasn't even mentioned, no, but he isn't.
- 20:28SPEAKER_14: Okay, good.
- 20:30SPEAKER_08: Good.
- 20:30SPEAKER_08: That's the thing.
- 20:31SPEAKER_08: You can't listen to it.
- 20:32SPEAKER_14: Because he was in a he because they remember because they were talking about the guy in this band called Snake, I think they were called Snake.
- 20:38SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 20:38SPEAKER_14: That's how they he was the vocalist, and you were like, Oh wow, this guy's awesome, you know, and then you know being Van Halen.
- 20:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 20:44SPEAKER_08: So Yeah.
- 20:45SPEAKER_08: No, I I I need to pick it up.
- 20:47SPEAKER_08: But uh, I mean, who who am I kidding?
- 20:49SPEAKER_08: I'm not gonna I haven't been reading the books that you've given me already.
- 20:51SPEAKER_14: So what what makes me think about Well, I'm taking care of the ones I borrowed from you.
- 20:55SPEAKER_14: I know you are.
- 20:56SPEAKER_14: They're they're they're in good hands.
- 20:57SPEAKER_08: Oh, so uh so you were talking about um uh you know, spell check and stuff like that.
- 21:03SPEAKER_08: So what I was starting to tell you before we started the podcast, uh my daughter, uh my youngest, is a little upset and strange.
- 21:10SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:10SPEAKER_08: She's probably gonna be upset that I shared this on the podcast.
- 21:13SPEAKER_14: Well, she doesn't listen anyway.
- 21:14SPEAKER_08: So hopefully we don't take a road trip anytime soon, because sometimes you listen.
- 21:17SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that's true, yeah.
- 21:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 21:18SPEAKER_08: Uh she's working on this project uh on blizzards.
- 21:22SPEAKER_08: It's a foldable, you know, like a like a poster board thing, and she she put some pictures and she got some captions and she drew some snowflakes and blah blah blah.
- 21:31SPEAKER_08: It was really nice.
- 21:32SPEAKER_08: And and it's due, I think she said the twenty th uh November twenty-second, maybe or I don't know.
- 21:40SPEAKER_08: But if she does it if she turns it in tomorrow, she gets five extra points, five extra credit.
- 21:46SPEAKER_08: Oh, okay.
- 21:47SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 21:47SPEAKER_08: So she was actually wanted to get it done.
- 21:49SPEAKER_08: And so I get off my guitar class.
- 21:51SPEAKER_08: This is before you came.
- 21:53SPEAKER_08: And I went upstairs and she's like, see Dad?
- 21:56SPEAKER_08: And of course, both my boys are in the living room.
- 21:58SPEAKER_08: My wife is in the living room.
- 22:00SPEAKER_08: But she's always working right on her computer, so she's sure.
- 22:03SPEAKER_08: So she shows it to me, she's really proud.
- 22:05SPEAKER_08: And I went, kind of made it fake.
- 22:08SPEAKER_08: She's like, what?
- 22:09SPEAKER_08: I said two L's in the lizard.
- 22:14SPEAKER_08: She put B L L.
- 22:16SPEAKER_08: Oh, it's easy, right?
- 22:18SPEAKER_08: And she lost it.
- 22:21SPEAKER_08: You know, and we're trying to come up with, you know, ways that she could fix it.
- 22:25SPEAKER_08: She didn't want to hear it.
- 22:27SPEAKER_08: No!
- 22:27SPEAKER_03: I'm done!
- 22:30SPEAKER_08: Just she was so frustrated.
- 22:32SPEAKER_08: And she's a great speller too.
- 22:34SPEAKER_08: She just was not paying attention.
- 22:35SPEAKER_08: Oh, it happens, yeah.
- 22:36SPEAKER_08: You know, it's just one of those things.
- 22:39SPEAKER_14: Probably, but you know, I I I would like put money on it that if she had turned it in, nobody else would have noticed either.
- 22:46SPEAKER_08: Probably.
- 22:46SPEAKER_08: You know, it was just like a blizzard.
- 22:48SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 22:49SPEAKER_14: Well, you know, the thing is, is I think I think you're so used to because a lot, you know, it's like those things that people, you know, they put numbers and you know, and decide words or you know, turn words around and just, you know, and you're like, you can still read it.
- 23:02SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 23:02SPEAKER_14: People are so used to looking at the word blizzard they wouldn't even think anything of it.
- 23:06SPEAKER_08: Well, I think I think her teacher, and I know her teacher, I think her teacher, if she had chosen, still chooses to to do it tomorrow, I think her teacher will still give her the five extra credit points because she did it.
- 23:21SPEAKER_14: Well, it wasn't it was turn it in, you get five extra points.
- 23:24SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 23:25unknown: Right.
- 23:25SPEAKER_08: Didn't say anything about it.
- 23:27SPEAKER_08: So maybe she maybe should take a point off for for spelling or whatever.
- 23:30SPEAKER_14: Well, maybe, but you still you know you take it out of that five extra.
- 23:33SPEAKER_14: That's it.
- 23:33SPEAKER_14: Exactly, you know, you still got four extra points.
- 23:35SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 23:36SPEAKER_08: Bam! I think I think she should still do it too.
- 23:38SPEAKER_14: I think she should.
- 23:39SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 23:39SPEAKER_08: But what are we gonna what do we know?
- 23:40SPEAKER_08: You know.
- 23:41SPEAKER_14: Yeah, we we barely graduated high school.
- 23:43SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 23:44SPEAKER_08: Okay, so the top forty glam metal uh songs, and we should preface this because they did.
- 23:52SPEAKER_08: Uh we made the executive decision to exclude two of the biggest rock bands of the eighties.
- 23:57SPEAKER_08: So there's no Van Halen on this list.
- 24:00SPEAKER_08: But they're not glam.
- 24:01SPEAKER_08: And there's no Guns N' Roses on this list.
- 24:02SPEAKER_14: And they're not glam.
- 24:03SPEAKER_14: Well, they were kind of glam, actually.
- 24:05SPEAKER_08: Both bands ran parallel to the glam metal scene, and Van Halen in particular had a huge influence on the movement.
- 24:10SPEAKER_08: Neither quite fit the mold and owed a greater debt to the 70s hard rock tradition.
- 24:15SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I I agree with that.
- 24:17SPEAKER_14: However, KISS is on this.
- 24:20SPEAKER_14: Why is KISS well Glam.
- 24:22SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 24:22SPEAKER_08: Okay, well, they are the kings of glam, right?
- 24:24SPEAKER_14: Right, but they're from the 70s too.
- 24:26SPEAKER_14: Yeah, well, late 60s even.
- 24:28SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 24:28SPEAKER_08: So anyway, number 40.
- 24:30SPEAKER_08: You know, obviously we're not gonna we're not gonna play all these.
- 24:33SPEAKER_08: We'll we'll mention all of them, uh, but we won't play them all.
- 24:37SPEAKER_11: Uh Rock Revolution Radio.
- 24:42SPEAKER_08: Oh, we just gave some free advertising.
- 24:44SPEAKER_11: Oh, there you go.
- 24:45SPEAKER_11: Um, is that Bullet Boys?
- 24:49SPEAKER_11: It is.
- 24:50SPEAKER_14: Wow, I forgot about these guys.
- 24:52SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 24:53SPEAKER_08: Smooth up in you exactly sure what that means.
- 24:59SPEAKER_14: I suppose it's it's it's up to interpretation.
- 25:02SPEAKER_14: I think it's probably uh I'm sure it's some sort of technical in the UN DOF.
- 25:09SPEAKER_14: I mean they're not just the bullet boys.
- 25:23SPEAKER_08: That's name's Bright.
- 25:24SPEAKER_08: I'm not sure why why that's so loud in the headphones.
- 25:27SPEAKER_08: Uh rat number 39, you're in love.
- 25:29SPEAKER_08: Oh.
- 25:30SPEAKER_08: From Invasion of Your Privacy, 1985.
- 25:33SPEAKER_14: There we're glam.
- 25:34SPEAKER_08: Oh, yes.
- 25:36SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 25:36SPEAKER_08: Uh LA Guns, never enough.
- 25:38SPEAKER_08: I was never an LA Guns.
- 25:40SPEAKER_12: I'm never, I never was either.
- 25:41SPEAKER_08: I don't even think I know this song.
- 25:49SPEAKER_09: This is the video for it.
- 25:50SPEAKER_07: Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we have the fabulous LA guns.
- 26:20SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I don't know this song either.
- 26:21SPEAKER_08: I don't know this song.
- 26:22SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 26:22SPEAKER_08: It's called Never Enough.
- 26:23SPEAKER_14: Uh when I think it's But again and again, I don't the only song by LA Guns I really know is uh something about Jane.
- 26:28SPEAKER_14: Right, yeah.
- 26:28SPEAKER_14: Did you know that was about Jane Mansfield?
- 26:30SPEAKER_08: I think I did.
- 26:31SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 26:31SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 26:32SPEAKER_08: Uh what what a shame.
- 26:34SPEAKER_08: What happened to Jane?
- 26:35SPEAKER_08: Ballad of Jane.
- 26:36SPEAKER_08: Ballad of Jane.
- 26:36SPEAKER_08: Ballad of Jane, yeah.
- 26:37SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that's the only one I really know, too.
- 26:39SPEAKER_08: Poison from Alice Cooper.
- 26:41SPEAKER_14: Ah, such a great song.
- 26:43SPEAKER_14: But I wouldn't consider Alice Glam.
- 26:44SPEAKER_08: This is another one in the 70s, right?
- 26:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 26:47SPEAKER_14: But he's not really glam.
- 26:49SPEAKER_08: I mean, I think are they going by the makeup?
- 26:52SPEAKER_08: I don't know.
- 26:53SPEAKER_14: I don't know.
- 26:53SPEAKER_14: I mean, because he's not, I mean, he was kind of glam-ish, but he was more of a he was more of a performer, like uh like a Freddie Mercury, you know.
- 27:00SPEAKER_14: He was putting on a show.
- 27:02SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 27:02SPEAKER_14: You know?
- 27:02SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 27:03SPEAKER_14: No, I agree.
- 27:03SPEAKER_14: I don't know.
- 27:04SPEAKER_14: But it's a great song.
- 27:05SPEAKER_14: I love that song.
- 27:05SPEAKER_08: I don't know that I would put Alice Cooper in.
- 27:07SPEAKER_08: I wouldn't put that on.
- 27:09SPEAKER_08: Twisted Sister.
- 27:10SPEAKER_14: Oh yeah, definitely glam.
- 27:11SPEAKER_08: Uh there's a couple Twisted Sister songs on the show.
- 27:13SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 27:14SPEAKER_14: They were they were like Remember this?
- 27:17SPEAKER_08: What do you want to do with your life?
- 27:19SPEAKER_08: The video.
- 27:20SPEAKER_08: I miss videos.
- 27:22SPEAKER_08: Good videos like this, like these.
- 27:25SPEAKER_03: School has begun.
- 27:28SPEAKER_03: The summer is over.
- 27:30SPEAKER_03: I am incoming.
- 27:32SPEAKER_08: I'm gonna fast forward here.
- 27:33SPEAKER_03: Sister! What kind of a man desecrates a defenseless textbook?
- 27:40SPEAKER_03: I've got a good mind to slap your fat fan.
- 27:45SPEAKER_03: You destroy your life with that job.
- 27:52SPEAKER_03: Alright, Mister Sister! I want you to tell me! No, better yet.
- 28:00SPEAKER_03: Stand up and tell the class.
- 28:03SPEAKER_03: What do you wanna do with your life?
- 28:08SPEAKER_03: I wanna run!
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, just a kid.
- 28:16SPEAKER_14: Yeah, they were kind of like the uh the you know the godfathers of the glam movement anyway, them and Motley Crue.
- 28:22SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 28:23SPEAKER_14: So but didn't Twisted Sister come out in the 70s too?
- 28:26SPEAKER_14: No.
- 28:26SPEAKER_14: Are you sure?
- 28:27SPEAKER_14: Well, they might have been late 70s, but they didn't get noticed till the 80s.
- 28:31SPEAKER_08: You can't stop rock and roll or whatever.
- 28:32SPEAKER_08: I thought that was like late 70s.
- 28:34SPEAKER_08: Autograph, turn up the radio.
- 28:35SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 28:36SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah, I would consider that glam up.
- 28:39SPEAKER_14: Geez, some of these videos are oh, we watched this, remember because I was making fun of the drummer because he made like an X for his name.
- 28:48SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 28:48SPEAKER_14: There it is.
- 28:49SPEAKER_14: There it has in it.
- 28:50SPEAKER_14: Oh, the drummer! Error.
- 28:52SPEAKER_14: Now I'm trying to erase it because I spelled it wrong.
- 28:59SPEAKER_08: So yeah, see, these these music videos, I mean, they they're they don't do music videos.
- 29:03SPEAKER_08: They're cheesy, right?
- 29:04SPEAKER_08: They're cheesy, but they're fun.
- 29:06SPEAKER_08: They're fun.
- 29:06SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 29:07SPEAKER_08: This is another one I would not consider glam.
- 29:09SPEAKER_08: Firewoman from the cult.
- 29:11SPEAKER_08: Yeah, call were never glam.
- 29:14SPEAKER_08: So I just because it came out in the same time doesn't mean it's glam metal.
- 29:20SPEAKER_14: Well, this was like late 80s, wasn't it?
- 29:23SPEAKER_08: Early 90s?
- 29:24SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it was like 89.
- 29:25SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 29:26SPEAKER_08: From Sonic Simple.
- 29:27SPEAKER_14: I love this song, though.
- 29:28SPEAKER_08: Yeah, me too.
- 29:28SPEAKER_08: Great song.
- 29:30SPEAKER_08: But I again, I don't consider this glam metal.
- 29:34SPEAKER_14: Definitely not.
- 29:34SPEAKER_08: But you'd hear it on Hair Nation.
- 29:35SPEAKER_14: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 29:36SPEAKER_14: Yeah, you would.
- 29:37SPEAKER_14: I think they're just they're glam adjacent.
- 29:40SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 29:52SPEAKER_08: Such a great song.
- 29:54SPEAKER_08: Uh Down Boys Warrant.
- 29:55SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah.
- 29:56SPEAKER_08: They were glamboys.
- 29:56SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah, for sure.
- 29:57SPEAKER_08: Definitely glam.
- 29:58SPEAKER_08: For sure.
- 29:58SPEAKER_08: Where the Down Boys go.
- 29:59SPEAKER_08: Dude looks like a lady, Aerosmith.
- 30:01SPEAKER_12: I never 70s.
- 30:04SPEAKER_12: Yeah, they're not glam.
- 30:05SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I I again I don't understand uh I don't understand the reasoning here.
- 30:09SPEAKER_08: Uh Lita Ford, kiss me deadly.
- 30:12SPEAKER_14: Uh yeah.
- 30:13SPEAKER_14: I would I would say she's glam.
- 30:14SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 30:15SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 30:15SPEAKER_14: I mean, she was with the runaways back in the 70s, but as a solo artist, she was in the 80s.
- 30:20SPEAKER_14: Yep.
- 30:21SPEAKER_08: Winger, 17.
- 30:23SPEAKER_14: Oh man.
- 30:24SPEAKER_14: I love this song.
- 30:25SPEAKER_14: I like I like Winger.
- 30:26SPEAKER_14: I don't care.
- 30:27SPEAKER_08: I do too.
- 30:27SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 30:30SPEAKER_01: I mean, the lyrics haven't aged well.
- 30:33SPEAKER_14: No.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: But uh, yeah, I I love Winger.
- 30:39SPEAKER_14: Yeah, they just got a really bad rap.
- 30:41SPEAKER_08: They really did.
- 30:41SPEAKER_14: You know, they just got it real.
- 30:44SPEAKER_14: And they don't blame Beavis and Butthead.
- 30:46SPEAKER_14: They blame Metallica because of that scene and nothing else matters, or they're throwing the darts at his picture on the dartboard.
- 30:54SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I think I read that.
- 30:55SPEAKER_14: They blame and then and then just kind of Beavis and Butthead kind of, you know, the kid, the kid with the winger t-shirt, you know.
- 31:00SPEAKER_08: Yeah, didn't Metallica do the same thing to Bon Jovi?
- 31:03SPEAKER_08: Didn't uh Hetfield Hetfield had a guitar that said kill Bon Jovi on it.
- 31:07SPEAKER_14: Yeah, something like that.
- 31:08SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 31:09SPEAKER_08: And I think they're probably friends now.
- 31:10SPEAKER_14: Oh, I bet they are.
- 31:11SPEAKER_14: I bet they're all just hang out now.
- 31:13SPEAKER_08: And then just like I was just, you know, I was drunk.
- 31:15SPEAKER_08: 29.
- 31:16SPEAKER_08: Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
- 31:17SPEAKER_08: I hate myself for loving you.
- 31:19SPEAKER_08: I don't think.
- 31:20SPEAKER_14: I don't consider Joan glam.
- 31:22SPEAKER_14: No, I don't know.
- 31:22SPEAKER_14: Glam's she's straight up rock.
- 31:24SPEAKER_14: I think what that what it is I mean, she's a runaway's uh alum, too.
- 31:28SPEAKER_08: They're just they're just lumping all of the music that came out in that time period as glam metal.
- 31:35SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 31:35SPEAKER_08: And it's not the case.
- 31:36SPEAKER_14: That's not no, she's not glam.
- 31:38SPEAKER_08: White lion, wait.
- 31:40SPEAKER_14: Yeah, that's glam.
- 31:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 31:42SPEAKER_14: They were, you know.
- 31:42SPEAKER_14: There's a lot of interviews in that book with uh Vito Brata.
- 31:45SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah?
- 31:46SPEAKER_14: Which is very nice.
- 31:46SPEAKER_14: With Vito Brata, really?
- 31:48SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 31:48SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 31:49SPEAKER_14: A lot of interviews with them.

- 31:55SPEAKER_14: Wow.
- 31:55SPEAKER_14: So it was pretty it was pretty great.

- 31:58SPEAKER_08: You give love a bad name.
- 32:00SPEAKER_14: Yeah, they were kind of glam ish.
- 32:01SPEAKER_14: Yep.

- 32:10SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah.
- 32:10SPEAKER_08: Of course.
- 32:11SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 32:12SPEAKER_08: Uh The Cult Love Removal Machine.
- 32:14SPEAKER_08: Why is Caldon there again?
- 32:15SPEAKER_08: I don't know.
- 32:16SPEAKER_08: This is a great song.
- 32:17SPEAKER_08: I don't, I don't, I would not put I don't get it.
- 32:20SPEAKER_08: I would not put this song in as glam metal.
- 32:28SPEAKER_08: This sounds like the stones.
- 32:29SPEAKER_08: This sounds like something that would come out in the 70s.
- 32:32SPEAKER_14: I'm expecting to see Mick Jagger come out strutting.
- 32:35SPEAKER_14: He's kind of doing a Mc Jagger thing right there.
- 32:41SPEAKER_14: You know, when around this time.
- 32:43SPEAKER_14: Oh, it's the it that's that's why it's Glam.
- 32:45SPEAKER_14: It's the puffy shirt.
- 32:49SPEAKER_14: That's why they're putting in.
- 32:50SPEAKER_14: Oh, wait, he's not wearing it now.
- 32:52SPEAKER_14: Hey, how about some continuity here?
- 32:58unknown: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:01SPEAKER_08: Oh, he changed shirts.
- 33:03SPEAKER_08: Wait, didn't he?
- 33:03SPEAKER_08: Wow, he's so fast.
- 33:06SPEAKER_08: Anyway, the cult's great.
- 33:08SPEAKER_08: Wasp.
- 33:08SPEAKER_08: I want to be somebody.
- 33:09SPEAKER_14: Yep.
- 33:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 33:10SPEAKER_14: They're definitely uh they were definitely I love that.
- 33:13SPEAKER_14: I love that story of uh was he was he talking about Wasp?
- 33:17SPEAKER_14: Don Dawkins on the the documentary when they were throwing like raw meat and blood out in the city.
- 33:22SPEAKER_14: Don Don't like, yeah, I was I was pretty sure it was uh fake stuff.
- 33:26SPEAKER_14: No, it was blood.
- 33:34SPEAKER_14: Ah, poison, yes.
- 33:35SPEAKER_14: They were definitely This is the epitome.
- 33:37SPEAKER_14: Oh, they they are the poster children of glam rock.
- 33:41SPEAKER_08: And um was it Ricky Rocket was just recently on uh Eddie Trunk and he confirmed that Poison will go out on tour in 2026.
- 33:51SPEAKER_08: Really?
- 33:52SPEAKER_08: Not next year, but the year after.
- 33:53SPEAKER_08: Wow, good for them.
- 33:54SPEAKER_08: If they are still alive.
- 33:59SPEAKER_14: But you know, look what the cat drag did is a great album.
- 34:03SPEAKER_14: Oh, yeah.
- 34:03SPEAKER_14: I don't I don't care.
- 34:04SPEAKER_14: Open up and say, ah, that's a great album.
- 34:06SPEAKER_14: That's a great album, too.
- 34:07SPEAKER_14: Yeah, they I mean they put out some good stuff.
- 34:08SPEAKER_14: That's sure they did.
- 34:09SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 34:10SPEAKER_14: Oh, another album.
- 34:10SPEAKER_14: Is this cherry pie?
- 34:11SPEAKER_11: It is.
- 34:12SPEAKER_11: Yes, yes, yeah.
- 34:13SPEAKER_14: Oh, it is misogyny on display.
- 34:17SPEAKER_14: And they admit it.
- 34:18SPEAKER_14: And they totally admit it.
- 34:31SPEAKER_14: What's up?
- 34:31SPEAKER_14: Bobby Brown, right?
- 34:32SPEAKER_14: Yes, yes.
- 34:33SPEAKER_11: Bobby Brown.
- 34:34SPEAKER_14: Yeah, Janie, Janie fell in love with that woman.
- 34:37SPEAKER_14: Well, he married her.
- 34:38SPEAKER_14: Yeah, he meant he married her, yeah.
- 34:39SPEAKER_14: But she was she was definitely not uh faithful.
- 34:43SPEAKER_08: Why do you say that?
- 34:44SPEAKER_14: Ah, well, I'm just going by what I read.
- 34:48SPEAKER_14: So was it in the book?
- 34:49SPEAKER_14: It was in the book.
- 34:50SPEAKER_08: In the book, yeah.
- 34:50SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 34:51SPEAKER_14: He was just he was just like obsessed with her.
- 34:53SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 34:54SPEAKER_14: And it was just bad.
- 34:55SPEAKER_14: But I mean, there there's a lot of people talk about so many good things about Janie Lane.
- 35:00SPEAKER_14: Um about what you know, what a great singer he was, great a great frontman, and it was such a tragedy that alcohol took his life.
- 35:06SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 35:06SPEAKER_14: You know, it was just it's just very sad.
- 35:08SPEAKER_14: Oh, yeah.
- 35:09SPEAKER_08: So uh another band I do not consider glam.
- 35:14SPEAKER_08: Scorpions.
- 35:15SPEAKER_12: Scorpions are not glam.
- 35:17SPEAKER_08: It's because Rocky Like a Hurricane came out in like 84.
- 35:21SPEAKER_08: That's one they put on there.
- 35:22SPEAKER_08: Rocky Like a Hurricane.
- 35:23SPEAKER_14: That's not they're not glam.
- 35:25SPEAKER_14: They're from the like the late 60s, early 70s.
- 35:27SPEAKER_14: Yes.
- 35:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 35:28SPEAKER_14: They are so not glam.
- 35:29SPEAKER_08: Uh Rat Lay It Down, number 18.
- 35:31SPEAKER_08: Yeah, Rat's definitely.
- 35:32SPEAKER_08: For sure.
- 35:32SPEAKER_08: Skid Row, 18 in life.
- 35:33SPEAKER_14: Robin Crosby.
- 35:35unknown: Oh yeah.
- 35:36SPEAKER_08: That's Robin Crosby.
- 35:36SPEAKER_14: That's a that's a tragedy too.
- 35:38SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 35:39SPEAKER_14: You know, died of AIDS and um Yeah, from from a from from dirty needles.
- 35:43SPEAKER_08: Sharing needles, yeah.
- 35:44SPEAKER_14: Yeah, oh it's just such such a tragedy, man.
- 35:47SPEAKER_08: Uh Skid Row, 18 in life.
- 35:48SPEAKER_14: Skid Row were on the at the you know, the tail end of the glam.
- 35:53SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 35:54SPEAKER_14: You know, it was just it real they really aren't glam except for Sebastian.
- 35:57SPEAKER_08: Well, so so the first album, okay, I'll give you that.
- 36:00SPEAKER_08: 18 in Life, Um, A Youth Gone Wild, okay.
- 36:04SPEAKER_08: The second album, Slave to the Grind.
- 36:06SPEAKER_14: That was That's not glam.
- 36:08SPEAKER_14: That's not Glam.
- 36:08SPEAKER_14: That was they purposely they and they talk about it in the book, they purposely made that album like that just to get away from everybody else.
- 36:17SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 36:17SPEAKER_14: Because they were tired of being lumped in with all the glam people.
- 36:20SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 36:20SPEAKER_14: But uh yeah.
- 36:22SPEAKER_14: But but it didn't sell well because everybody was looking for Part two.
- 36:26SPEAKER_14: Yeah, part two of, you know, you know, 19 in life.
- 36:29SPEAKER_14: You know what I mean?
- 36:30SPEAKER_14: They were looking for that.
- 36:31SPEAKER_11: Is that Ingve Malmstein?
- 36:33SPEAKER_11: It's not.
- 36:33SPEAKER_11: Oh, I thought it was.
- 36:34SPEAKER_11: Oh, that's Europe.
- 36:35SPEAKER_11: It is.
- 36:38SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: You call that glam, probably.
- 36:41SPEAKER_12: Uh it's glam-ish, yeah.
- 36:44SPEAKER_12: But they never really, really they never struck me as glam.
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: Well, it's it's the way they looked, I think.
- 36:51SPEAKER_12: I guess, but hairband, you know.
- 36:54SPEAKER_14: Well, yeah, they definitely were a hairband.
- 36:56SPEAKER_14: I'll I'll give them that.
- 36:57SPEAKER_08: You know, so I don't think I don't really consider them glam.
- 37:00SPEAKER_12: I wouldn't either.
- 37:01SPEAKER_08: I wouldn't either.
- 37:02SPEAKER_08: No.
- 37:02SPEAKER_08: Uh Skid Row, Youth Gone Wild, David Lee Roth, Yankee Rose.
- 37:07SPEAKER_08: I I don't think so.
- 37:09SPEAKER_08: If you don't put Van Halen in here, why are you putting it uh David Lee Roth?
- 37:11SPEAKER_08: Well, yeah, he's not glam.
- 37:13SPEAKER_14: I mean, he's definitely glam-ish.
- 37:15SPEAKER_08: Well, I think like like they said in the beginning of the article, that Van Halen lent itself to the glam rock movement, or glam metal.
- 37:23SPEAKER_14: Well, all those well, all those guys loved Van Halen.
- 37:26SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 37:26SPEAKER_14: And they were kind of contemporaries from, but they they all loved Van Halen and they wanted to be a band because of Van Halen.
- 37:33SPEAKER_08: But I think if you're gonna not put Van Halen in here, you can't put David Lee Roth in here.
- 37:36SPEAKER_08: No, they absolutely not.
- 37:38SPEAKER_08: Uh Whitesnake, here I go again.
- 37:40SPEAKER_08: Another band from the 70s.
- 37:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I don't consider Whitesnake glam.
- 37:44SPEAKER_08: I don't either.
- 37:45SPEAKER_14: So I don't know.
- 37:46SPEAKER_08: Uh Whitesnake Snill of the Night.
- 37:49SPEAKER_12: Really?
- 37:49SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 37:49SPEAKER_08: Twice in a row.
- 37:50SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 37:51SPEAKER_08: Kiss, lick it up.
- 37:53SPEAKER_12: The kiss is not glam.
- 37:55SPEAKER_08: I don't think so either.
- 37:55SPEAKER_08: Especially right there.
- 37:56SPEAKER_08: Motley Crue Live Wire.
- 37:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 37:58SPEAKER_08: Glam.
- 37:59SPEAKER_08: Twisted Sister, we're not gonna take it.
- 38:01SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 38:01SPEAKER_08: Quiet Riot.
- 38:02SPEAKER_08: Come on, feel the noise.
- 38:03SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 38:04SPEAKER_08: Um, would you consider Def Leopard?
- 38:08SPEAKER_08: Glam.
- 38:09SPEAKER_08: No.
- 38:11SPEAKER_08: I don't either.
- 38:12SPEAKER_08: Why what's your reasoning?
- 38:13SPEAKER_14: Well, they're they're they're from the uh new wave, you know, British heavy metal.
- 38:18SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 38:19SPEAKER_14: That's that that's the era they come out of, which is like the late 70s, early 80s.
- 38:23SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 38:23SPEAKER_14: But they're not glam.
- 38:24SPEAKER_14: They were never maked up, you know, dug the makeup or anything like that.
- 38:29SPEAKER_14: They were just rock, straight up.
- 38:31SPEAKER_14: I mean, if you listen to any album before hysteria, you're just like, oh, these are these guys are just rockers.
- 38:37SPEAKER_08: Absolutely.
- 38:37SPEAKER_08: You know what I mean?
- 38:38SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 38:38SPEAKER_08: I agree.
- 38:39SPEAKER_08: Uh Aerosmith Loving an elevator.
- 38:41SPEAKER_08: Aerosmith's not glam.
- 38:42SPEAKER_08: Poison, nothing but a good time.
- 38:44SPEAKER_14: Well, yeah.
- 38:44SPEAKER_14: I get that.
- 38:45SPEAKER_08: Obviously, that's That's definitely glam.
- 38:46SPEAKER_08: Bon Jovi Living on a Prayer.
- 38:48SPEAKER_08: Hey, glamish.
- 38:48SPEAKER_08: Rat Round and Round.
- 38:50SPEAKER_08: Yep, that's glam.
- 38:50SPEAKER_08: Motley Crew Kickstart by High.
- 38:52SPEAKER_08: Yep, that's true.
- 38:53SPEAKER_08: And the number one Def Leppard photograph.
- 38:55SPEAKER_13: What?
- 38:55SPEAKER_13: That's not even right.
- 38:58SPEAKER_08: So I'm gonna see what they said here because if they're not including Van Halen, um Why are they including Def Leopard?
- 39:04SPEAKER_14: I don't get it, man.
- 39:05SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 39:06SPEAKER_14: Uh that's just frustrating.
- 39:08SPEAKER_08: When Glam Metal first took the world by storm, it was reveal reviled by critics as shallow, sex-obsessed fluff.
- 39:15SPEAKER_08: A lot of it was.
- 39:16SPEAKER_08: And while the genre was certainly driven by libido, that doesn't diminish the smart songwriting and musical virtuosity on display among our list of the top forty glam metal songs.
- 39:25SPEAKER_08: Since its inception, rock music has been about standing up to oppressors, giving young people an outlet for their aggression, creating an inclusive space for social outcasts, and yes, indulging in S D and V Sex, Drugs, and Other Vices.
- 39:51SPEAKER_08: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
- 39:53SPEAKER_08: This is where he says we made an executive decision to exclude Van Halen in Guns N Roses.
- 39:58SPEAKER_08: With those exceptions in mind, read on to see our choices for the top.
- 40:01SPEAKER_08: If you if you don't put Van Halen in there, then you can't put Kiss, you can't put Aerosmith, Scorpions.
- 40:09SPEAKER_08: You can't put the Scorpions.
- 40:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 40:11SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 40:11SPEAKER_08: Uh because it says Van Halen in particular had a huge neither neither quite fit the mold and owed a greater debt to the 70s hard rock tradition.
- 40:20SPEAKER_14: Well, half the bands that are on the list are from the 70s.
- 40:23SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 40:23SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 40:24SPEAKER_14: So You're full of crap.
- 40:26SPEAKER_11: Ultimate classic rock.
- 40:27SPEAKER_11: We don't agree with you.
- 40:28SPEAKER_14: Ultimate crap.
- 40:34unknown: Shh.
- 40:34SPEAKER_14: We use them for everything.
- 40:35SPEAKER_14: I know.
- 40:36SPEAKER_14: If we they we didn't have their website, we would have no podcasts.
- 40:40SPEAKER_09: That's probably true.
- 40:40SPEAKER_14: It'd just be us going, hey, what'd you do?
- 40:43SPEAKER_14: I like docking.
- 40:47SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 40:48SPEAKER_08: So that's that.
- 40:49SPEAKER_08: Ultimate classicrock.com is where you can find that article uh and agree or disagree with it.
- 40:54SPEAKER_11: Let's do uh I do a lot of disagreeing.
- 40:57SPEAKER_11: Let's do that one.
- 40:58SPEAKER_11: Okay.
- 40:58SPEAKER_11: Let's do that thing.
- 40:58SPEAKER_13: Let's play mixtape!
- 41:00SPEAKER_08: I missed you, mixtape.
- 41:02SPEAKER_08: I didn't pick a song yet.
- 41:03SPEAKER_08: I don't even remember what it was.
- 41:04SPEAKER_14: It was uh well we have to go in order here.
- 41:07SPEAKER_14: Past, present, and future.
- 41:09SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 41:09SPEAKER_14: Okay, so past was um the uh heartbreak song.
- 41:20SPEAKER_14: The heartbreak song.
- 41:21SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 41:22SPEAKER_14: You go on a date and you get stood up and what song?
- 41:24SPEAKER_08: Oh, and I yeah, and I put uh stood up from John Hyatt, which was like not very good.
- 41:29SPEAKER_14: Okay, this is what our judge had to say.
- 41:34SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 41:36SPEAKER_14: So she says, I had to agree with O'Brien, it was between all by myself and everybody hurts.
- 41:42SPEAKER_14: I listened to Stood Up, and while the song uses the phrase stood up, I get the sense that the singer is talking about growing up and making decisions for himself.
- 41:52SPEAKER_08: She's right.
- 41:52SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 41:52SPEAKER_14: Yep, she's good song, though.
- 41:54SPEAKER_14: But when it came to the other two, the choice was so hard.
- 41:58SPEAKER_14: I absolutely love everybody hurts, but in the end I had to go with all by myself.
- 42:03SPEAKER_14: Alright.
- 42:03SPEAKER_14: Cousin Larry.
- 42:04SPEAKER_14: The lyrics fit beyond perfectly, you're excited for a date, you're hopeful, and then you get stood up, and the line all by myself, don't want to be all by myself anymore, was too perfect for that situation.
- 42:15SPEAKER_08: Can't disagree with that.
- 42:16SPEAKER_14: No, absolutely not.
- 42:17SPEAKER_14: So kudos to Cousin Larry.
- 42:20SPEAKER_14: He is Z-Man.
- 42:21SPEAKER_14: Yay! Okay, so that's passed.
- 42:24SPEAKER_14: So now we gotta do present, and that is what I do here.
- 42:30SPEAKER_14: So the question this week was you're eight years old riding shotgun next to your dad, and he cranks the volume when this song comes on.
- 42:39SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 42:40SPEAKER_08: So we're doing cousin Larry first.
- 42:43SPEAKER_14: Cousin Larry.
- 42:44SPEAKER_14: Uh I gotta find Larry to me.
- 42:51SPEAKER_14: There is Cousin Larry.
- 42:53SPEAKER_14: There he is.
- 42:55SPEAKER_14: Okay, so you know Cousin Larry's dad, Uncle Larry, was a huge country fan.
- 43:08SPEAKER_14: So, well, you guys know my dad was a huge fan of old country music.
- 43:11SPEAKER_14: I grew up listening to Hank Williams Sr., Kitty Wells, Jim Reeves, Merle Haggard, and so many others.
- 43:17SPEAKER_14: I remember my dad would always say he wished he had Johnny's Cash and Charlie's Pride.
- 43:23SPEAKER_14: And he would refer to Tammy Wynette as Tammy Why Not.
- 43:28SPEAKER_14: That was Uncle Larry.
- 43:29SPEAKER_14: That's awesome.
- 43:29SPEAKER_14: Definitely Uncle Larry.
- 43:30SPEAKER_14: That's awesome.
- 43:31SPEAKER_14: Uh anyway, I learned the opening of Walk the Line by Johnny Cash on my guitar and played it for dad over the phone, and he said that was his favorite, so that is my choice.
- 43:40SPEAKER_14: I can remember riding with dad and him playing the eight-track tape with the matchbook underneath and cranking Johnny Cash.
- 43:48SPEAKER_14: Dad was hard of hearing and cranked everything
- 44:08SPEAKER_06: I keep a close watch on this heart of mine.
- 44:12SPEAKER_06: I keep my eyes wide open all the time.
- 44:17SPEAKER_06: I keep the ends out for the pilot fine.
- 44:22SPEAKER_06: Because you're mine.
- 44:24SPEAKER_06: I woke a line.
- 44:25SPEAKER_06: Classic.
- 44:26SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 44:27SPEAKER_08: Just classic.
- 44:27SPEAKER_11: Just great song stuff.
- 44:30SPEAKER_11: Awesome.
- 44:31SPEAKER_11: Alright, what's yours?
- 44:33SPEAKER_14: Well, again, my dad was also a big fan of country music, so I went with Don Williams.
- 44:39SPEAKER_14: I still believe in you.
- 44:40SPEAKER_01: Oh, what a great song.
- 44:42SPEAKER_14: This is a great song.
- 44:43SPEAKER_08: I I would I probably probably would be quicker to go into my iTunes because I do have that, but I'm just gonna go here because I'm right here.
- 44:52SPEAKER_08: There's such a controversy with with the this one.
- 44:57SPEAKER_08: Um believe it or not, because when it came out, it just didn't say things like this in the country song, where he says, I don't believe virginity virginity is as common as it used to be.
- 45:07SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 45:08SPEAKER_14: You know, that was that was like taboo, yeah.
- 45:12SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 45:13SPEAKER_08: This is I love this.
- 45:14SPEAKER_08: This kind of makes me feel like when I hear Don Williams sing, it's just like comforting.
- 45:20SPEAKER_08: I don't believe it.
- 45:20SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it's like it's like a four stars.
- 45:23SPEAKER_14: It's like a warm blanket on a coal side.
- 45:25SPEAKER_05: It really is.
- 45:26SPEAKER_05: I don't believe the price of gold, the certainty of growing old, that right is right and left is wrong, that north and south can't get along, that east is east and west is west, and being first is always best, but I believe in love.
- 45:49SPEAKER_05: I believe in babies.
- 45:55SPEAKER_05: I believe in mom and dad.
- 46:00SPEAKER_05: And I believe in you.
- 46:05SPEAKER_08: Oh, that's awesome.
- 46:06SPEAKER_08: Great song.
- 46:07SPEAKER_08: That's awesome.
- 46:08SPEAKER_08: Okay, so for me, um of course my iTunes is not working.
- 46:18SPEAKER_08: Hold on.
- 46:19SPEAKER_08: Oh no, uh that's not what I wanted to do.
- 46:21SPEAKER_08: What's a plane?
- 46:22SPEAKER_08: Uh I don't know, it's a plane.
- 46:23SPEAKER_08: Playing a song! Let's just get exit out of it and we'll go back in.
- 46:27SPEAKER_08: Um, so for me, you know, I have a hard time talking and thinking about my dad.
- 46:32SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 46:33SPEAKER_08: Um but I will say that I don't know what my dad was into musically.
- 46:44SPEAKER_08: Um because he never really listened to music.
- 46:47SPEAKER_08: Well, the only music that he listened to was us.
- 46:51SPEAKER_08: You know, and when I was a kid, we used to do um we used to do like little concerts for the neighborhood.
- 46:59SPEAKER_08: Because, you know, once my dad found out that I was into music, he would go to, you know, like the extent of building a stage in the back of the garage.
- 47:10SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 47:11SPEAKER_08: And um we had like a a broomstick and he would take he took like a what do you call the um the uh not the meat uh we didn't have a microphone, so he made one out of uh like what do you call it?
- 47:32SPEAKER_08: Like when you're when you take the the the juices from the meat and you it's like a suction.
- 47:37SPEAKER_14: Oh the little suction thing.
- 47:38SPEAKER_14: Suction thing.
- 47:39SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 47:39SPEAKER_08: So he made a microphone out of that on the top of like a like a m broom stick or something.
- 47:45SPEAKER_08: I don't remember what it was, but he would he would fashion that stuff and we and we had uh you know, of course he bought us guitars and we would we would put on these lip sync shows.
- 47:54SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 47:54SPEAKER_08: So the only music that my dad would ever listen to in the in the like when Michael Jackson's thriller came out, right?
- 48:02SPEAKER_08: That's what he would listen to.
- 48:03SPEAKER_08: He would he would turn that up because he knew that he knew that we would be listening to it.
- 48:06SPEAKER_08: He knew that we liked it.
- 48:08SPEAKER_08: So if I the the question was eight years old uh and we were in the car, is that what it was?
- 48:16SPEAKER_08: What what would he crank?
- 48:17SPEAKER_08: Yeah, what'd he crank?
- 48:18SPEAKER_08: So he would crank this because um it was something that I was into and it was as actually this one was one of the one of the ones that we would do on uh our what do you call it?
- 48:35SPEAKER_08: Our shows.
- 48:36SPEAKER_08: And of course I don't have oh, there it is, right there.
- 48:40SPEAKER_00: Jesse's girl.
- 48:42SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 48:43SPEAKER_08: So he would crack this up because he know I he knew I loved it.
- 48:46SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 48:46SPEAKER_00: Jesse is a friend.
- 48:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know he's been a good friend of mine.
- 48:53SPEAKER_00: But lately something's changed, it ain't hard to define.
- 48:56SPEAKER_00: Jesse's got himself a girl and I wanna make a mine.
- 49:00SPEAKER_00: And she's watching with no time.
- 49:02SPEAKER_08: So, you know, it would be this, it would be basically whatever's on the radio.
- 49:06SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 49:06SPEAKER_08: Um, sometimes the BGs, you know.
- 49:09SPEAKER_08: Um but he also had there was a cassette that he had of like classical music.
- 49:15SPEAKER_08: That's where I got turned on to that thing I mentioned to you the other day, Rimsky Korsakov.
- 49:19SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 49:19SPEAKER_08: The Russian Easter Overture.
- 49:21SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 49:22SPEAKER_08: Um But he and then later in life, he because he was kinda he's kind of a tortured person, and he he said that uh it was like really hard metal that he was into.
- 49:36SPEAKER_08: Like harder than Metallica, like you know, he like he really liked Metallica.
- 49:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 49:42SPEAKER_08: But like just anger.
- 49:45SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 49:45SPEAKER_08: You know, it's angry stuff that he he got into.
- 49:48SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 49:48SPEAKER_08: But this is this is what what he would he would crank because he knew that I sang this one, and and and uh yeah.
- 50:01SPEAKER_08: So that's my answer.
- 50:02SPEAKER_08: Jesse's girl.
- 50:03SPEAKER_08: Jesse's girl.
- 50:04SPEAKER_14: So we got uh Johnny Cash, walk the line, Don Williams, I still believe in you, and Drick Springfield.
- 50:12SPEAKER_08: Jesse's girl.
- 50:13SPEAKER_14: Jesse's girl.
- 50:14SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 50:14SPEAKER_14: There you go.
- 50:15SPEAKER_14: So now we've got to choose for the future.
- 50:19SPEAKER_14: Let's see what we got here.
- 50:20SPEAKER_14: I have seen the future and it is small.
- 50:25SPEAKER_14: Well, here's a cool one.
- 50:26SPEAKER_14: Alright.
- 50:27SPEAKER_14: Dedicate a song to someone in the room and tell them why you chose your selection.
- 50:33SPEAKER_08: To someone in the room?
- 50:35SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I I just assume it'll be like we can do each other, you know, whatever.
- 50:40SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 50:41SPEAKER_14: Oh, actually, let's let's let's dedicate it to anybody.
- 50:44SPEAKER_14: We'll we'll change it.
- 50:44SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 50:45SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 50:45SPEAKER_08: Yeah, because that would only be two answers.
- 50:47SPEAKER_14: Well, well cousin Larry.
- 50:49SPEAKER_14: He's playing.
- 50:50SPEAKER_08: So he's Oh, he's not in the room though.
- 50:52SPEAKER_14: Well, yeah.
- 50:53SPEAKER_14: We'll just we'll just say pretend he's in the room.
- 50:55SPEAKER_14: Yeah, we'll just we'll just say dedicate the song to someone.
- 50:58SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 50:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 50:59SPEAKER_08: And and and and say why you dedicate it.
- 51:03SPEAKER_08: Uh okay.
- 51:04SPEAKER_08: And it doesn't have to be a love song or another.
- 51:06SPEAKER_14: No, it's just be a song.
- 51:07SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 51:08SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 51:09SPEAKER_08: So pick a song, dedicate a song to anyone and say why you're why you're dedicated.
- 51:14SPEAKER_14: Correct.
- 51:15SPEAKER_14: Okay, that's cool.
- 51:16SPEAKER_14: We can do that.
- 51:16SPEAKER_13: We can do that already.
- 51:18SPEAKER_13: Yay, yes.
- 51:19SPEAKER_08: Yay! Alright, so that's mixtape for this week.

- 53:18SPEAKER_08: Oh my words.
- 53:20SPEAKER_08: Um, alright, so I'm gonna I'm gonna take off my headphones.
- 53:23SPEAKER_08: I'm gonna climb the wall.
- 53:24SPEAKER_14: I'm gonna read from Beatles what is this book again?
- 53:28SPEAKER_14: Hard Day.
- 53:30SPEAKER_14: This week's Beatles song is I feel fine from Beatles for Sale.
- 53:35SPEAKER_14: I don't.
- 53:35SPEAKER_13: I feel old.
- 53:36SPEAKER_14: I feel tired.
- 53:40SPEAKER_14: I should have picked uh I'm only sleeping.
- 53:44SPEAKER_14: Uh okay.
- 53:45SPEAKER_14: The Beatles completed the album A Hard Day's Night in June 1964, and by mid-August were back in the studio to start work on Beatles for Sale.
- 53:54SPEAKER_14: On August 19th, they left Britain to tour America and returned a month later to pick up where they had left off.
- 54:01SPEAKER_14: A Hard Day's Night had been the first album to consist solely of Lennon and McCartney songs, but with so little time between projects, they found it impossible to come up with all their own songs for Beatles for Sale.
- 54:13SPEAKER_14: On October Oh, yeah, this is the first time they've used feedback, too.
- 54:17SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 54:18SPEAKER_14: On October 6th, while recording eight days a week, John was working out the guitar riff that would become the basis of I Feel Fine, a song they recorded only 12 days later.
- 54:28SPEAKER_14: Quote, I actually wrote I Feel Fine around the riff, which is going on in the background, John said in 1964.
- 54:35SPEAKER_14: I tried to get the effect into every song on the LP, but the others wouldn't have it.
- 54:41SPEAKER_14: Quote, I told them that I'd write a song specially for this riff, so they said, Yes, you go away and do that.
- 54:50SPEAKER_14: Knowing that we'd almost finished the album.
- 54:51SPEAKER_14: Anyway, going into the studio one morning, I said to Ringo, I've written this song, but it's lousy.
- 54:56SPEAKER_14: But we tried it complete with riff, and it sounded like an A-side, so we decided to release it just like that.
- 55:05SPEAKER_14: Apart from the riff, the distinctive feature of I Feel Fine is the sound of feedback, which slides into the opening chords.
- 55:12SPEAKER_14: It was one of those discoveries made in the studio.
- 55:14SPEAKER_14: John's guitar was leaning up against an amplifier after a take and set up and set up an electronic whine.
- 55:21SPEAKER_14: This marked the s this marked a subtle shift in their approach to recording.
- 55:26SPEAKER_14: Having mastered the studio basics, they started encouraging George Martin to take them further, finding fresh sources of inspiration and noises previously eliminated as mistakes.
- 55:38SPEAKER_14: Electronic goofs, twisted tapes, talkbacks, etc.
- 55:42SPEAKER_14: Feedback was to become a familiar part of recording used by artists such as Jimi Hendricks and The Who.
- 55:47SPEAKER_14: But John remained proud of the fact that the Beatles were the first group to actually put it on viol.
- 55:52SPEAKER_14: I feel fine.
- 55:53SPEAKER_14: John's most optimistic song to date became a number one single in Britain and America.
- 55:58SPEAKER_14: So cool.
- 55:59SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it's cool.
- 56:03SPEAKER_02: It by the Dive a Ranger Note, she said so.
- 56:09SPEAKER_02: She's in love with me and I feel fine.
- 56:13SPEAKER_08: You can't go wrong with the Beatles.
- 56:14SPEAKER_14: Never.
- 56:15SPEAKER_08: Just period.
- 56:16SPEAKER_14: You gotta see this picture, though, in the book.
- 56:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 56:19SPEAKER_14: This this epitomizes the Beatles.
- 56:22SPEAKER_14: Because look, they're all singing around Blake, and what's Ringo doing?
- 56:25SPEAKER_14: He's riding a stationary bike.
- 56:27SPEAKER_14: What the frig, dude.
- 56:29SPEAKER_08: That's what they thought of Ringo up here.
- 56:30SPEAKER_14: Yeah, poor Ringo.
- 56:32SPEAKER_14: He got so friggin' abused in that group.
- 56:34SPEAKER_08: It's so true.
- 56:37SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 56:38SPEAKER_08: I have an album.
- 56:39SPEAKER_14: I have an idea.
- 56:41SPEAKER_14: I have a dream.
- 56:43SPEAKER_14: That you have an album.
- 56:44SPEAKER_14: I do.
- 56:45SPEAKER_08: Uh let the guessing begin.
- 56:47SPEAKER_14: Is it a band?
- 56:49SPEAKER_08: No.
- 56:50SPEAKER_14: It's a solo?
- 56:50SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 56:51SPEAKER_14: Big man?
- 56:51SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 56:52SPEAKER_14: Solo man.
- 56:53SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 56:53SPEAKER_08: Solomon.
- 56:54SPEAKER_08: Solomon.
- 56:55SPEAKER_14: Solomon.
- 56:55SPEAKER_14: Solomon.
- 56:57SPEAKER_14: Uh rock guy?
- 57:01SPEAKER_14: Pop guy?
- 57:02SPEAKER_14: Pop rock guy.
- 57:02SPEAKER_14: Pop rock guy.
- 57:05SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 57:06SPEAKER_14: Height of popularity.
- 57:07SPEAKER_08: Uh 80s.
- 57:08SPEAKER_14: 80s?
- 57:09SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 57:10SPEAKER_14: It's uh that guy.
- 57:15SPEAKER_08: Yep, you're right.
- 57:18SPEAKER_14: There we go.
- 57:19SPEAKER_14: I'm so good at this game.
- 57:21SPEAKER_14: Uh who was I trying to think of?
- 57:24SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 57:25SPEAKER_01: That guy.
- 57:26SPEAKER_14: Cory.
- 57:27SPEAKER_14: Cory Hart?
- 57:28SPEAKER_14: Corey Hart, yeah.
- 57:28SPEAKER_14: No, no.
- 57:29SPEAKER_14: No, you don't have Do you have any Cory Hart?
- 57:31SPEAKER_08: I don't.
- 57:32SPEAKER_08: Actually I may have I may have one Cory Hart.
- 57:36SPEAKER_08: So it's not Cory Hart.
- 57:37SPEAKER_08: I should get some Cory Hart.
- 57:38SPEAKER_08: I like Cory Heart.
- 57:39SPEAKER_08: I like Cory Hart.

- 57:49SPEAKER_14: Pop Rock.
- 57:50SPEAKER_14: Is there one guy?
- 57:51SPEAKER_14: Did you play an instrument?
- 57:53SPEAKER_14: Plays guitar?
- 57:54SPEAKER_14: Plays guitar.
- 57:54SPEAKER_14: Is it Rick Springfield?
- 57:56SPEAKER_14: No.
- 57:56SPEAKER_14: No.
- 57:57SPEAKER_14: Same lines.
- 57:58SPEAKER_14: Same lines.
- 57:59SPEAKER_14: Same lines, yeah.
- 58:00SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 58:01SPEAKER_14: Is it Billy Squire?
- 58:02SPEAKER_08: Nope.
- 58:04SPEAKER_08: He's not American.
- 58:09SPEAKER_08: Is he British?
- 58:10SPEAKER_08: No.
- 58:11SPEAKER_08: Is he Australian?
- 58:12SPEAKER_08: Actually, he I think, if I remember right, he was born in Britain.
- 58:18SPEAKER_08: But he's not British.
- 58:20SPEAKER_08: Well he's born in Britain.
- 58:22SPEAKER_08: He was raised somewhere else.
- 58:23SPEAKER_14: Oh.
- 58:24SPEAKER_14: Was he raised in America?
- 58:27SPEAKER_08: Actually, maybe he wasn't born in Britain.
- 58:28SPEAKER_08: Maybe I'm confusing.
- 58:29SPEAKER_08: Maybe I'm confusing people.
- 58:30SPEAKER_14: He was born in Britain.
- 58:31SPEAKER_14: Wait, maybe he wasn't.
- 58:34SPEAKER_14: I thought maybe he was, but maybe he was born in Britain, but not.
- 58:38SPEAKER_08: We'll find that out after.
- 58:39SPEAKER_08: We'll find it out after.
- 58:41SPEAKER_01: If I say what he was born in Greenland.
- 58:44SPEAKER_01: If I say where he's from.
- 58:46SPEAKER_11: His mother was a seal.
- 58:48SPEAKER_11: And his father was Admiral Byrd.
- 58:50SPEAKER_11: His mother was a seal.
- 58:52unknown: I don't know.
- 58:53SPEAKER_08: If I say where he's from, you're gonna get it in a heartbeat.
- 58:56SPEAKER_14: Oh well that we don't want that.
- 58:58SPEAKER_14: No.
- 59:00SPEAKER_14: I don't want to go home and go to bed or anything.
- 59:05SPEAKER_14: I just want to keep guessing and guessing and guessing and guessing and guessing.
- 59:08SPEAKER_14: Okay, he's Canadian.
- 59:10SPEAKER_14: Oh, he's Canadian.
- 59:11SPEAKER_14: Oh, it's Brian Adams.
- 59:15SPEAKER_05: Told you.
- 59:18SPEAKER_14: Well, it's it's sad that you'd be like, oh, he's Canadian.
- 59:21SPEAKER_14: Well, well, we only have so many choices.
- 59:23SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 59:23SPEAKER_14: It's either Rush or Brian Adams.
- 59:26SPEAKER_08: Now I'm curious because I want to see if I was.
- 59:30SPEAKER_08: You know, I may have been thinking of uh Mike Myers.
- 59:33SPEAKER_08: Because wasn't Mike Myers born in Britain?
- 59:36SPEAKER_14: I don't know, to be honest with you.
- 59:38SPEAKER_08: I know he's Canadian.
- 59:40SPEAKER_08: Uh no, uh no.
- 59:42SPEAKER_08: Uh Brian Adams was born in Kingston, Ontario.
- 59:44SPEAKER_13: So okay, really.
- 59:45SPEAKER_13: I am totally wrong.
- 59:50SPEAKER_08: So the album that I picked.
- 59:53SPEAKER_08: This one.
- 59:54SPEAKER_08: Brian Adams Unplugged.
- 59:55SPEAKER_08: Wow.
- 59:56SPEAKER_08: Have you heard that one?
- 59:57SPEAKER_08: Probably.
- 59:58SPEAKER_08: Probably.
- 59:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 59:59SPEAKER_08: Uh he does some pretty cool things on this album.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_08: Uh this is technically an MTV unplugged, right?
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_08: Um there.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_08: So you wouldn't think that.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_08: And there's a there's a new song on here that I absolutely love.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_08: Well, it was new at the time, obviously.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_08: But here's, of course, summer of 69.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_00: Good evening, everybody.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_00: Here we go.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_08: I just like the the treatment of these classic songs.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_14: I think that was the beauty of MTV Unplugged anyway, was taking these rock songs and you know, stripping them down and just doing a different thing with them.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_14: Oh, that's a weird place for the drums to move.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I was I'm looking for something here.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_08: So anyway, uh this is one of the new songs that was on that album that I just absolutely love.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_08: Back to you.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_08: Remember this song?
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_08: It was like a hit song for me.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_08: I don't know, I dig that one.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_08: So I was looking for um well let's see.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_08: Uh he's got just some cool versions, but one of the one of the um well, let's do this.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_08: Because I don't think I have uh his first album in here.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_08: Uh but I do have this.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_08: So this is from Cuts Like a Knife from eighty eighty three.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_08: This is the original version of this.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_08: I'm ready.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_04: I'd like to see you, but I'll let you see.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_08: I was so into Brian Adams when he first came out.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_04: I remember I wanna be winning every day.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_08: So then you have the the unplugged version.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_08: Have you heard this?
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_14: Of this song?
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_14: No.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_04: I wanna be with you every day.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_04: Cause I got a feeling it's beginning to grow.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_04: There's only one thing I can say.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_04: I'm ready to love you.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_04: I'm ready to hold you.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_04: I'm ready to love you.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_04: I'm ready to hold you.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_08: Uh so this is a kind of a bummer because there's a song here that I wanted to play the original version, and it's not on YouTube.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_08: What?
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_08: Um, and I don't What are you doing, YouTube?
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_08: I have it I had it or have it on cassette, but I don't have it here.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_08: Uh but I don't know if you've ever heard it.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_08: Um There's like a live version.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_08: I wonder if it's the original version.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_08: Let's see.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_08: This fits you good is uh the song.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_08: So this is a live version.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_08: No, let's see, they're playing an acoustic.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_08: Um I don't want an acoustic, I want the original version.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_14: He's wearing entirely too much white.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_08: Well, the whole band is.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_09: That's that's that's even worse.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_08: That's their live bootcon.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_08: And they were doing like uh they had like balloons and stuff.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_08: Why?
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_08: Like white, big white b white balloons or whatever that they threw out into the audience.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_08: So yeah, look, they're all wearing white.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_08: There's and it's a trio.
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_08: It's just a trio.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_14: Really?
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_14: Yeah, interesting.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_08: Uh so weird.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_08: But anyway, there's a Song on the album called Fits You Good, which is actually a rocker.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_08: But they made it into something like this, which is.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_08: See, I like that.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_08: I like when you when you make it something completely different.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_08: You know?
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_14: Put a new a different spin on it.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_04: Wait here for the work and date it.
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_08: And you know, this is one guy.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_04: Five o'clock.
- 1:06:31SPEAKER_08: You know, attribute it to his walls.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_08: Because McCartney is a vegan as well.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_08: You can attribute it to being a vegan if you want, I don't know, but he sound he's 65.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_08: He sounds exactly the same.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_08: Brian Adams.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_08: When he sings.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_14: You think that's due to a vegan lifestyle?
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_08: Well, what I'm saying is he's taking care of himself.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_14: Oh, well, yeah.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_14: And you know I mean you could.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_14: I think even meat eaters could take care of themselves.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_14: Well, that's true.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_14: I don't know.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_11: I mean, look at Sammy Hagar.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_08: You know that dude ain't a vegan.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, that's true.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_08: So.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_08: Yeah, but he and Sammy Hagar sounds great.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_08: But he doesn't sound like he used to.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_12: No, none of these guys do, really.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_08: This guy does.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_08: If you've listened to Brian Adams perform, he sounds the same now that he did then.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_08: Well, maybe he's a robot.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_08: Could be.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_14: He is from Canada.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_14: He's preserved well.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_08: But I mean there's uh so we got Summer of 69, other songs you might know, Cuts Like a Knife.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_08: But this isn't a obviously a different version of it, right?
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_13: No.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_13: Yes, no, yes.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_04: Driving home is Steven.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_09: Let me give you a little piece of this one here.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_09: Hold on.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_04: You had this boy believing.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_04: Way beyond the shadow of a town.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_08: Let me play this.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_08: It's the original version.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_08: Of the only thing that looks good on me is you.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_09: No, that's 2010, never mind.
- 1:09:57unknown: Cloud number nine.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_08: This is not on the this is not on the uh unplugged.
- 1:10:01SPEAKER_08: This is on a an album that he put out in 2010 called Bare Bones.
- 1:10:05SPEAKER_08: Which is just him.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_08: And an acoustic guitar.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_08: I suppose he's singing a little lower though, isn't he?
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_08: Anyway, I you know, Brian Adams, you know, his lyrics are not necessarily earth-shattering.
- 1:10:33SPEAKER_08: No.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_08: But I dig it.
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_08: I dig his stuff.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_08: It's catchy.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_08: It's uh pop.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_08: It's good poppy, yeah.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_08: It is good pop rock.
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_08: So anyway, that's the album that we chose.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_08: Uh Brian Adams MTV Unplugged.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_08: Good stuff.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_08: Good stuff.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_14: It's acoustic.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_08: I don't know.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_08: It's time to go to bed.
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_08: That's hard.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_14: It's been a long day.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_14: It has.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_14: And it's only Monday.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_14: I know.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_14: This is gonna come out on Thursday.
- 1:10:59SPEAKER_14: By the time we get to this, I'm still gonna be tired.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_08: Okay, we should we should also say once again that uh if you're listening to this on Thursday or after Thursday, uh there will be no podcast next week either.
- 1:11:15SPEAKER_14: No, we're taking next week off.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_08: We're taking next week off.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_14: Because it's Thanksgiving.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_14: And we don't wanna listen to a podcast and eat turkey.
- 1:11:23SPEAKER_14: Did I actually say what?
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_14: It's bad for your it's bad for your digestion.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_08: By the way, this is episode 220.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_14: This is episode 220.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_08: I don't think I ever said that.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_08: We're turkeys.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_08: We're turkeys.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_08: Episode 220.
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_14: We're not gonna do a podcast on Turkey Day.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_14: Sacrilegious.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_14: I don't know.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_14: It's against the podcast rules.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_08: Although they do play football on Thanksgiving.
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_14: Well that's different.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_14: It's a tradition now.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_14: So you gotta you gotta play football.
- 1:11:53SPEAKER_14: I suppose that's it.
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_14: You gotta have the cowboys, you gotta play, you know the cowboys have to play and the lions have to play.
- 1:11:59SPEAKER_08: Is it always the cowboys or the lions?
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_14: They always play on Thanksgiving.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_08: Really?
- 1:12:03SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:12:03SPEAKER_08: I guess I never knew that.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_14: They've had extra teams, you know.
- 1:12:07SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_14: Because it's not like they should just make the Cowboys and Lions play every year and just call it good.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_08: I think we should start a movement.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_08: I think we should have the day after Super Bowl off.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_08: Like a national holiday.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_14: Well, that's what Joe Burrow said.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_14: Is it?
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_14: I agree with him.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:12:25SPEAKER_14: They should move they should move to the they should he said that they should move the Super Bowl to the President's Day weekend.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 1:12:35SPEAKER_14: So everybody would have that day off.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_14: I think that's fantastic.
- 1:12:38SPEAKER_14: Yeah, is he he's great.
- 1:12:39SPEAKER_14: He's a he and I can't believe he plays for the Bengals.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_14: I mean this dude, this dude is way too smart.
- 1:12:46SPEAKER_14: You know what I mean?
- 1:12:47SPEAKER_08: And the reason they don't do that is because of money?
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_14: Or uh I don't know, to be honest with you.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_14: Because you could you could, you know, you could start the season a little later.
- 1:12:57SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 1:12:57SPEAKER_14: Or, you know, give them a couple weeks off.
- 1:12:59SPEAKER_14: Like remember what they used to?
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_14: Used to be like end of the season, then it'll be two weeks and then it'll be the Super Bowl.
- 1:13:05SPEAKER_14: You could still do that.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_14: Just take a couple weeks and have the Pro Bowl, which nobody watches, you know, or pays any attention to.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_08: That's such a joke.
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_14: And you know, and then just just you know, just or just add an extra game to the schedule.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_14: You know?
- 1:13:19SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 1:13:19SPEAKER_14: I mean, you'd still be making money hand over fist because it's the NFL.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_14: You know?
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_08: I think somebody should like likeall do a petition.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_08: Change.org.
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_14: Change.org.
- 1:13:32SPEAKER_14: Dear Roger Goodall, you should put the Super Bowl on President's Day weekend so more people can have Monday off and enjoy the Super Bowl.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_14: Love and kisses, O'Brien and Doug.
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_08: Period.
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_14: P.S.
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_14: You suck.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_14: Unless you do this.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_14: Then you don't suck.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_14: But you still suck.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_14: Because I don't like you.
- 1:13:53SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 1:13:55SPEAKER_08: Alright, I'm gonna end the podcast now.
- 1:13:57SPEAKER_14: I'm really tired.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_08: Me too.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_08: Me too.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_08: That's episode 220, everybody.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_11: Enjoy.
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_08: 220 is share it with your friends.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_14: 220 is the number of seconds we got to sleep.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_08: Take it.
- 1:14:11SPEAKER_08: Shove it with us.
- 1:14:12SPEAKER_08: Never mind.
- 1:14:12SPEAKER_08: What?
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_14: Whoa! Goodness gracious.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_14: You're like tired and violent.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_14: You're tired.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_08: I'm vired.
- 1:14:29SPEAKER_14: You're vired.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_14: Do you see that guy?
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_14: He's so vired.
- 1:14:37SPEAKER_14: What?
- 1:14:38SPEAKER_14: Violent and tired.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_14: Vired.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_14: That's what we do here at O'Brien and Doug.
- 1:14:44SPEAKER_14: We make up words.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_14: We coin them.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_14: We coin phrases and give them to the universe.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_14: You're welcome, everybody.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_14: Enjoy.
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_14: I I would laugh if we'd start, you know, we started seeing the word vired start trending.
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_14: Violently violently tired.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_14: We started that.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_14: We'll be like, whoa.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_14: Everybody's like, we heard it on a podcast with these two morons.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_05: Bruh.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_14: Bruh.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_14: It was really good, man.
- 1:15:11SPEAKER_14: They were talking about uh Brian Adams and how How much Riz he has.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_08: What's Riz?
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_08: It's trust me.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_08: There's a whole language, dude, that I don't understand.
- 1:15:23SPEAKER_08: Riz is is uh when someone it's and my my boys, my teenagers, were amazed that I figured it out.
- 1:15:31SPEAKER_08: Because you know I'm stupid.
- 1:15:32SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:15:33SPEAKER_08: Uh I was like, what is Riz?
