- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Radio, I'm trying to get to sleep.
- 0:12Speaker 2: They go George Michael there and know who is that is? That?
- 0:15Speaker 2: His mum at the end is the last little bit.
- 0:17Speaker 2: It's a great song and you get I'm trying to
- 0:19Speaker 2: get to sleep. Well, let me tell you about my weekend.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I had a busy weekend. Saturday morning saw three hundred
- 0:25Speaker 2: and twelve runners, joggers and walkers on the leaves in
- 0:27Speaker 2: the drizzley conditions at the Folkston Park Run. It was
- 0:31Speaker 2: my job to pump out some Christmas tunes from the
- 0:34Speaker 2: bandstand and encourage all the runners, many of whom were
- 0:36Speaker 2: in festive costume. Now we had a guest appearance from
- 0:39Speaker 2: the gingerbread Man. Now this gingerbread man turns up every year,
- 0:43Speaker 2: dances to the tunes, doesn't say a word and disappears.
- 0:46Speaker 2: No one knows who it is, but so please go
- 0:49Speaker 2: to the Folkston Park Run facebook page where there are
- 0:51Speaker 2: some fabulous pictures. Now there are plans for a Christmas
- 0:55Speaker 2: Day park run, but please check before you travel, because
- 0:58Speaker 2: there there's If there's not enough volunteers then the event
- 1:02Speaker 2: won't go ahead, only for safety reasons. Really. Then Saturday
- 1:06Speaker 2: afternoon I was on PA duty at the folkusing in
- 1:08Speaker 2: Victor versus Dartford game, where once again I played some
- 1:11Speaker 2: Christmas music to cheer up the crowd. However, in Victor
- 1:14Speaker 2: supporters weren't very happy as their team lost one meal
- 1:17Speaker 2: in front of a massive crowd of one tho seventy
- 1:20Speaker 2: four spectators. So you can play Christmas Junes all day long,
- 1:25Speaker 2: but you can't change the school line. Then Sunday morning,
- 1:29Speaker 2: once again I was on PA duties at the nice
- 1:31Speaker 2: work Christmas Cracker Run at a cold and windy Betsanger Park.
- 1:35Speaker 2: The weather, however, didn't put off around three hundred and
- 1:38Speaker 2: fifty runners in either the two or the five mile race,
- 1:41Speaker 2: along with fifty your children in the junior fun run.
- 1:44Speaker 2: It was a cheerful, jolly event despite the weather. To
- 1:47Speaker 2: be fair, not many people were hanging about after they
- 1:49Speaker 2: finished because of the biting wind. But I do want
- 1:53Speaker 2: to tell you I want to give some running friends
- 1:56Speaker 2: of mine a special shout out because listen to this one.
- 2:00Speaker 2: This is the Paris family right. Three generations of this
- 2:03Speaker 2: family were running on Sunday. Grandmother Deborah and mother Emily
- 2:07Speaker 2: running the five miler and five year old son a
- 2:11Speaker 2: grandson Rufus running the junior race picking up is very
- 2:15Speaker 2: very first medal. Now, as I say, Rufus is only
- 2:18Speaker 2: five and he's done a few junior part runs. You
- 2:20Speaker 2: don't get a medal for a junior part run. So
- 2:22Speaker 2: this was his first ever medal and all the rest
- 2:26Speaker 2: of the family got loads of medals, so he was
- 2:28Speaker 2: well chuffed and he celebrated with a massive hot chocolate
- 2:32Speaker 2: So word onto the three generations of the Paris family
- 2:35Speaker 2: and it was really really nice talking to a granddad Darren.
- 2:39Speaker 2: So time a little bit of music now and another
- 2:42Speaker 2: Christmas song. This is from Bruce Springsteen. Santa Claus is
- 2:45Speaker 2: coming to town. So I called Lama beach h jingle.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Oh well, why they go, that's Bruce Brinstein having a
- 3:13Speaker 2: right I will laugh there on that song they do
- 3:15Speaker 2: you know what, I haven't heard that for a couple
- 3:16Speaker 2: of years, to be honest. Okay, a little bit more
- 3:19Speaker 2: sport and let me just squeeze into music or is
- 3:22Speaker 2: it the other way around anyway? Talking about a bit
- 3:24Speaker 2: at football now, folks in the victor As I said earlier,
- 3:27Speaker 2: they lost one Neil to Dartford in a pretty poor game.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Both teams hardly had a shot on goal. Dartford scored
- 3:32Speaker 2: a scrappy old goal from a set piece. Good crowd though,
- 3:35Speaker 2: As I said Oney seventy four, next game is away
- 3:38Speaker 2: on Boxing Day at Lewis three pm kickoff. Well, we're
- 3:42Speaker 2: just about halfway through the season and if Victor are
- 3:44Speaker 2: in fourteenth place in the table, so they will need
- 3:47Speaker 2: an excellent second half of the season. But remember if
- 3:50Speaker 2: the team's in contention above them keep running then they've
- 3:54Speaker 2: got no chance of getting anywhere, So it's going to
- 3:56Speaker 2: be an interest in twenty twenty five. I have Town's
- 3:59Speaker 2: game last Saturday against East Grinstead was called off due
- 4:02Speaker 2: to a water log pitch, so their next game is
- 4:04Speaker 2: the big Boxing Day derby at Reachfields against Ashford United.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Please remember this is a one pm kickoff and I
- 4:11Speaker 2: think there will be a big crowd there because if
- 4:14Speaker 2: Folks are away and then people do like their fix
- 4:17Speaker 2: of football, especially on Boxing Day, I think they're going
- 4:20Speaker 2: to pull in a lot of punters from Folkston. In
- 4:23Speaker 2: the Kent County Premier League, New Romney had an excellent
- 4:26Speaker 2: six to one win away at Kent United, keeping them
- 4:30Speaker 2: top of the table, and their next game is on Saturday,
- 4:32Speaker 2: the twenty eighth, away to eleventh place tentred in Town.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Fifth place Hawkingstown had an excellent one nil win against
- 4:39Speaker 2: third place Stansfield, and on Saturday, the twenty eighth sees
- 4:43Speaker 2: another tough game against second place in Minster. Now, for
- 4:47Speaker 2: all the clubs, this festive period can change the course
- 4:49Speaker 2: of the league tables. It can do it absolutely dramatically.
- 4:52Speaker 2: For example, folks in Victor have three games in a week,
- 4:56Speaker 2: so there's nine points up for grabs, so you could
- 4:58Speaker 2: end up with zero and could end up four or
- 5:01Speaker 2: five places up the table. So okay, so I'm moving on.
- 5:04Speaker 2: We got another Christmas song, a sponsors song here, and
- 5:08Speaker 2: this is a lovely song. I love this one. This
- 5:10Speaker 2: is my local group and we've got Paul Reynolds in
- 5:12Speaker 2: the studio who's up next, and they're great pals of his.
- 5:15Speaker 2: So please sit back and enjoy five minutes and seventeen
- 5:18Speaker 2: seconds of Merryler Bone Jelly one five point nine Radio Folkston.
- 5:24Speaker 1: This a dr Christmas Songs brought to you by Marley
- 5:28Speaker 1: Bone Jelly, who would like to USh a very merry
- 5:31Speaker 1: Christmas and a happy.
- 5:32Speaker 2: New Year Folkston's radio station, Radio Folkstone. I'll protect you
- 5:39Speaker 2: from the hooded claws.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Keep the vampires from your door.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Hi, Well, what an epic song that was. That was
- 6:04Speaker 2: a Marabone Jelly seeing the power of love. And for
- 6:08Speaker 2: those of you that are probably wondering, that was Frankie
- 6:10Speaker 2: Ghost to Hollywood did that and they sponsored their very
- 6:14Speaker 2: unsolved So thank you very much, Marabone Jelly. Okay, so
- 6:18Speaker 2: the last little bit of news for Rugby Sporting News
- 6:21Speaker 2: now is a bit of rugby news. Folks on first
- 6:24Speaker 2: fifteen had another tight game last Saturday, coming out twenty
- 6:27Speaker 2: seven twenty winners against Alsford at the Burlington Fields. They're
- 6:32Speaker 2: on a bit of a winning streak at the moment. Obvisently,
- 6:34Speaker 2: it doesn't take it. Put three or four results together
- 6:37Speaker 2: and you zoom up the table. This result was pushed
- 6:41Speaker 2: them from eighth up to fifth place and their next
- 6:44Speaker 2: game is on Saturday away to westcom Park who actually
- 6:48Speaker 2: take their eighth place now. Anyway, they've got a trip
- 6:51Speaker 2: to Orpington.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Now.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I couldn't find a result anywhere for the second fifteen,
- 6:56Speaker 2: who were scheduled to play away at Elsford, so I
- 6:59Speaker 2: guess that game was boned. Their next game is on
- 7:01Speaker 2: January the fourth at home to Ash. Now the ladies
- 7:06Speaker 2: team on Sunday, the fifth of January, having away fixture
- 7:09Speaker 2: at Cranbrook. So just to recap now, the Ladies League
- 7:13Speaker 2: consists of just six teams, so they don't play many games.
- 7:16Speaker 2: There might be three or four weeks between games. Anyway,
- 7:19Speaker 2: Folks are fifth in the table and Cranbrook a fifth,
- 7:22Speaker 2: so that's going to be a close game, isn't it.
- 7:24Speaker 2: It's lovely to see the Ladies still going though. That's
- 7:27Speaker 2: the main thing that they've still got a team down there.
- 7:29Speaker 2: That's very important. Okay, so we're going to play a
- 7:33Speaker 2: little song now called the venby Die Young. I don't
- 7:36Speaker 2: think I've heard this one before, so let's all of
- 7:38Speaker 2: us have a little listen the sound of Folkestone Radio
- 7:42Speaker 2: Folkstone for sure a sip. There you go. It's about
- 8:03Speaker 2: it for me and my last event of twenty twenty
- 8:06Speaker 2: four will be the Saltwood Boxing Day run, so get
- 8:09Speaker 2: there early if you want to register on the day.
- 8:11Speaker 2: I just want to say a big thank you to
- 8:13Speaker 2: all my guests for making this a real community sports show.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Big thank you to all my running friends for making
- 8:18Speaker 2: my PA days that so enjoyable. Big thank you to
- 8:21Speaker 2: Radio Focston for allowing me to deliver the sports show.
- 8:24Speaker 2: So without further ado, I just want to wish you
- 8:27Speaker 2: all a merry Christmas and have all the best from
- 8:29Speaker 2: the Kevin Sports Fairy Daily. Have a great time and
- 8:33Speaker 2: I will catch up with you. I won't be around
- 8:35Speaker 2: for a little while. I'll catch up with you in
- 8:36Speaker 2: twenty twenty five on one oh five point nine FM
- 8:40Speaker 2: Online
